Numm – Episode 08

0

Before saying anything, I must say that I did become a fan of the ambiance, the environment, the screenplay, the photography of the drama but what didn’t convince me was the direction at all. I think it was too slow & the episode on the whole was plain boring with nothing happening.

I actually couldn’t quite understand the need of the director to show the running water from the tap, to show the plant which wasn’t being trimmed, to show the cars being parked or accelerated till they vanished from our sight, to show Wali actually lazing on his bed, to show the driver driving a car & later showing the driver ease in his seat & especially put his topi on his eyes to block the daylight. I think all those shots seemed completely unnecessary & didn’t even fit well as some sort a filler. The background score was replayed to the extent where it got annoying. I know the plain silence would’ve been harder to tolerate because there were no such dialogues to be exchanged between the family members therefore they resorted to the OST to fill in the blanks.

I think Wali’s relationship with Mahjabeen should’ve been a lot more than just an exchange of a few glances. It was absolutely pointless to show Wali hovering around like a life-less soul who watched her do the household chores, who gave her mixed signals whenever their eyes met & who had nothing in the heart for her but only her hair-clip in his hands. I believe Wali’s feelings must be growing towards Mahjabeen but what Mahjabeen reminisced about Wali’s childhood was actually disturbing. What must be going on through Mahjabeen’s mind whenever she’d see the young boy she raised & comforted, as her husband.

The only powerful scene was that moment when Mahjabeen felt a rush of emotions which made her fists fidgety. Alamgir who actually tried to talk about getting married to Mahjabeen was conveniently talked out of the idea because it came as a bad idea to be put forward to Bare Sahab. I think a little but significant revelation was about Mahjabeen’s brother who actually gave his word as a witness in a case which was filed against their property. Even though nothing mattered & his testimony didn’t cause any harm to them but that was enough of a label for Mahjabeen to be the sister of that person & for that her fate was sealed.

I found Neelam’s acting absolutely forced & she came across as some girl who definitely had some confidence issues while dialogue delivery. Even though she’s far off in a hostel, she still got an idea of what was going on between Wali & Mahjabeen which was nothing more than a doctor’s visit which Wali arranged for her & then a little apology which Neelam has yet to find out about. She was already irritated at the news of Wali caring for Mahjabeen that God only knows what she will do if she finds out Wali apologized to her & held onto Mahjabeen’s hair-pin.

I think there’s a dire need of some sort of a progress in the story. I have been reading the comments which clearly shows that the viewers are already annoyed & when characters like Salima have more dialogues than the main characters, it doesn’t help at all. I hope for the sake of the avid followers of this drama that the story moves on & the mystery of Wali & Mahjabeen’s marriage is revealed.

Meri Zindage Hai Tu – Nazneen’s uneasiness

0

So far, we came across Aman concern for Nazo and Nazo’s shyness and quietness showing every possible emotion that is impossible to narrate for an over talkative person..Khamoshi mai jo baat hai woh bolti zubaan mai kahan..

My prediction about Safeer and Irum’s accident proved to be right. Meenu ruined Nazo’s engagement dress due to sheer jealousy that her Nazo is going to be someone else’s property and not hers.

As soon as Nazo saw the dress, she told Irum and Irum decided to buy another one for her as it was the day of her engagement and she doesnot have any formal dress to wear plus Irum didnot want her dress to be worn by Nazo on her engagement day.All she wanted for Nazo is to look best and wear a new classy formal dress so she went to buy a new dress for her along with Safeer.

That very moment depicted itself that something bad is about to be happened soon. Their good bye, Nazo watching all pictures of Irum,Safeer,Meenu and her and everything else was forecasting about upcoming storm in their lives. And then the most heart rending part of drama came, when Safeer and Irum came across the worst accident and died on the spot. Poor Meenu and Sad Nazo were left all alone.

I would like to congratulate the entire direction team that they directed post-death scenes really well. The way Nazo said that “Mai aik baar phir yateem ho gaye” made me cry almost. Nazo was right, few years back,Meenu was the reason for Nazo to live, smile and stay happy and now Nazo will become the reason for Meenu’s happiness all around.

I am really hating Rudaba’s attitude towards Nazo. Her every dialogue pinches me.Soon, after Nazo came to Aman’s house to live alongwith Meenu,Rudaba’s attitude was untolerable. She was indifferent and was making every possible attempt to make her family members think same as what she thinks and plans for her life. But Aman’s family had faced one problem of Nazo’s property due to Rudaba and luckily they are intelligent enough to not listen any of Rudaba’s stupid ideas and comments that she give regarding Nazo.

Meenu was forced to go with Safeer’s khala and Nazo was feeling so helpless because she was so attached to her. They both are each other reason to live after Safeer and Irum’s death.

Height of cheapness came ,when Nazo came to thank Aman’s brother  for Meenu’s admission in new school and Rudaba said that you will get many chances of thanking everyone in this house in forthcoming days as you will get admission in medical college and medical college expenses are too much too handle. Her taunting and rude behavior hurt Nazo deep inside and after that she started feeling insecure. She was right at her place but Aman was unable to figure out that whats going in Nazo’s mind and why is she feeling so insecure while living in their house.

Aman and aman’s younger brother were not only sharing same blood but also they are really good friends.Unlike typical brothers, who keep on fighting with each other, they were completely different. Its because of him , Aman tried to make Nazo easy instead of haunting them every day.

Nazo and Aman’s scenes were too cute to handle. In that purely negative environment, their scenes were like cool breeze blowing. Ahsan khan’s expressions and Aiza’s quietness while staying all alone with Aman steal the show.

Rudaba is following the teachings of her mother and is not sparing Nazo from taunting everytime she comes across her.I really like Aman’s concern towards Meenu but his concern for Meenu will be taken somehow negatively by Meenu when she will get older in forthcoming episodes.

Preview of next episode is suggesting some more drama and fuss created by Rudaba and Aman’s family sorting the possible way out to get rid of fuss created by Rudaba. They will come to a conclusion that Aman and Nazo should be wed-locked so that Nazo will not hesitate to ask Aman for anything she will need and it will be Aman’s duty to fulfill all her needs and desires afterwards.

Do give your valuable feedback.
Stay Blessed,

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 05

0

Apparently the hell broke loose in both the households when the couple decided to let go off their secret love & told their families about it. As usual both of their parents at first resisted them from committing such a mistake but they had to agree because Arez’s family had some ulterior motives based on the financial benefits whereas Eshaal’s father surrendered for now thinking he will make Eshaal grow out of her marriage with Arez.

Ehsaal, who at first didn’t seem to like Rehbar much at last relied on him as an elder brother to convince her father. Even though Rehbar agreed to speak to Dad but it was pretty evident that he had a plan of his own. I think Rehbar found peace in Eshaal’s below-the-belt choice of a spouse for herself because her father has always planned certain things when it came to his daughters’ weddings along with the standards he had, but this time his plans slipped from his hands & a middle class guy overtook him. Rehbar who plans to seek revenge for how he fell prey to Dad’s mean tactics, definitely felt a sense of victory because of Eshaal’s decision.

It came as a shocker where both of their parents acted submissively & agreed to get them married. Dad at first tried to insult Arez but he knew who he wanted & that was only Eshaal. Arez is least bothered about her background & her bank balance but just wants her as a wife, who he’d support by all means necessary. Eshaal’s father has for sure offered a job to Arez in his company but I am sure he will mistreat him.

Javed Sheikh’s plans started right at the beginning of their married life where he chose to insult Arez along with his family & in front of all the guests who had come with his family. Poor Eshaal didn’t know but was just as excited as any bride would be when she’d be having a love marriage. Even though Shahrez tried to retaliate but Arez just didn’t want to blow things out of proportion because he cared for Eshaal & he knew that she had no idea of what was going on. I think Javed Sheikh intended to insult the groom & the barati so that they’d go back & his plan of getting his daughter a divorce would materialize but all the credit goes to Arez for thinking rationally at that point & not making a fuss. The way Eshaal’s rukhsati happened was another shocker because it showed her family had no interest whatsoever in her marriage & Eva was kept in the dark too. Eva had no idea in what was going on & trusted her father for taking care of the things rightly but despite all that I believe she should’ve been there for her sister.

Whenever I see any such female characters who are in a dreamy world before getting married, it looks really annoying but I must say I loved Eshaal & her plans. Her excitement, her happiness, her thoughts were just adorable & what made it better was the direction which helped in executing the right emotions perfectly & made them come across to us as realistically as it could get. Eshaal, just like any other single girl, who was about to get married to the love of her life, was over the moon at the thought of being with Arez & Arez handled her feelings with care & made certain promises of making her happy after the wedding.

I loved their chemistry & the way they acted out as a newly wedded couple was just perfect. Arez who was disappointed by the treatment he received at her house didn’t even bother to mention it in front of his wife because while speaking to her he got the hint of Eshaal’s obliviousness & he knew that she was unaware of what just happened. Eshaal, who was sent away by her father halfheartedly didn’t pay much heed to it & just forgot everything when she got a chance to be with Arez. His mother sent a clear few signals of what sort of ‘saas’ she would be but where Eshaal tried to understand her point, Arez put a stop to his mother’s anger.

Their post-wedding conversations & the love they had in each other’s eyes was shown beautifully. Eshaal didn’t come across as a naive girl who had unrealistic approach towards marriage, in fact, to me she looked really cute when she was telling how she plans to lead a life with her husband. She, for now is just a hopeless romantic who things married life would be all about motorbike rides with her husband & road-side snacking at any time of the day. Sadly they were interrupted by Soni right in the middle of their imaginary world & that’s not going to be the last time it’s going to happen.

I know the story may seem really predictable from here onward but I am so far loving the realistic execution of the drama. The story is progressing at a right pace, the direction seems perfect, production seems top-notch & what makes is better is the perfect performances by the actors. Each & every character is very relate-able & it makes us want to see more. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Kankar Episode 19 – Mind-Blowing Dialogues

0

This latest episode focused on showing everyone’s reaction to Sikandar and Kiran’s relationship coming to an end. The most appalling reactions were those of Faiqa, Shaista and Arzoo. We already knew just how short-sighted and shallow these women were but even then every time the manner in which they justify themselves and make Kiran look like a culprit is shocking. Faiqa’s statement “wo kiran thi tum arzoo ho, tum se aisa salook krne ke bare mei vo soch bhi nahi skta” showed that she has no fear of God, she is the one who really needs a reality check. The way Kiran was treated as a lesser human by all these women in particular right from the onset is simply loathsome.

k8

Faiqa maybe blinded by her “obsession” (love would be the wrong word) with her nephew but Kamal tries his level best to save his daughter from a “violent and abusive” man. Even after everything that transpired Sikandar (according to Faiqa) is still the most sought after bachelor in the family. I found this part slightly difficult to believe because not very parent is as big a fool as Faiqa.  Arzoo’s statement that Sikandar and her have a lot in common was actually very true; Arzoo is just as self centered as Sikandar, she wants to marry him whether he wants to or not. She loves Sikandar in the same manner in which he loved Kiran.

k5

The conversation between Sikandar and his friend was splendidly written and executed with perfection. This was yet another one of those moments where the viewers realize that Sikandar is still trying to justify his actions; he still thinks that there is nothing wrong with a husband hitting his wife. Kiran was wise enough to break free from this abusive relationship before it completely annihilated her life and personality. Women who stay in such relationships for too long usually end up feeling worthless and I am not talking about women who are physically abused but also those who spend years with men who keep on belittling them.

k6

Rukhsar’s track seems to be wrapping up; she is finally getting married which means that Adnan can also get married now. Adnan’s feelings for Kiran are so genuine, they really do come across as soul mates. Kiran may not look at Adnan or think of him in that way but he is the only one who she truly connects with. Rukhsar is such a negative person, there is nothing likeable about her character at all. No wonder life has been so unfair with her, if she wished well for others, she would have gotten the same in return. The dialogue “mere betay ke liye talak yafta lrki hi reh gaye thi” went to show that no matter how much Rukhsar’s mother may “feel” for Kiran, the fact of the matter is that she will never think of getting her married to her only son.

k3

Kiran’s conversation with her mother in the end went to show that deep inside she was hoping that the divorce will affect Sikandar in some way. There is obviously no room for reconciliation now but it was normal for her to feel the way she did. The manner in which Ayesha finally applauds her daughter’s bravery was very touching. When Kiran was strong, she may not have supported her but now that she is more sensitive and vulnerable, her mother voices her true feelings. This scene was another skillfully written scene in tonight’s episode.

Sikandar and Arzoo finally get married in tonight’s episode and the beginning wasn’t exactly perfect! What is in store for Arzoo now? For how long will Faiqa cover for her nephew? Do Adnan and Kiran have a future together? I am waiting to find out!

I must applaud the wonderfully written dialogues and the perfect way in which this play has been directed. Umera Ahmed really is one of the best writers we have, I am more convinced of that now than ever. And I am very impressed with the way Aabiz raza has directed this serial.

Interview of Deepak Parwani – When feels bored from routine work, I do some acting

Translation of interview of Deepak Parwani for Sunday Magazine of Daily Nawaiwaqt. The interview is conducted by Ms. Ambreen Fatima. Content and pictures courtesy of Daily Nawaiwaqt.

“Deepak Parwani” the name which needs no introduction, whatever he has done has proved his talent. Many big names of fashion are admirer of his work. He introduced new trends in Pakistani fashion. Famous models feel honored to showcase his dresses on ramp. This famous Pakistani designer has not only impressed fashion following audience abroad but also in Pakistan masses eagerly wait for new designs of Deepak with seasonal changes. Every time Deepak comes with new efforts. If we say the dresses of Deepak Parwani are life of a fashion show, it would not be an exaggeration. Apart from fashion designer he is a very good artist as well. Whenever he appeared on screen, people appreciated his appearance, beautiful voice, facial expression and lively acting. Currently his drama ‘Kadoorat’ is being telecasted. Story of this drama and Deepak role is gaining attention of audience. Deepak has also won Lux Style award and Indus Award. In recent days we have a special conversation with this talented fashion designer and artist, which is presented for the readers.

NW: Tell us about your family?

DP: We are three brothers, I am the eldest and my family belongs to Mirpur Khaas.

NW: How did you come towards fashion?

DP: I was always attracted towards fashion and my mother has helped me a lot in pursuing a career in fashion, because she herself likes to wear stylish and good dresses.

NW: What is fashion?

DP: Fashion is the name of a lifestyle and this lifestyle is a reflection of traditional dressing and taste of a country. The best quality of fashion is it adds freshness to your personality.

NW: How do you see future of Pakistani fashion industry?

DP: Future of Pakistani fashion industry will be bright as this industry is leaping forward without many resources. I think export and import play a vital role in progress of a country. That is why our work should be accessible to international level, so international buyers can visit our country.

NW: Some particular section in Pakistan considers wearing western dresses as fashion. What is your say on this?

DP: Western and Eastern fashion, these terminologies are only used in Pakistan. I don’t believe in it as Fashion is just Fashion.

NW: Whether events of Fashion Weeks are helpful to promote fashion industry?

DP: Events of fashion weeks is good news for Pakistani fashion industry. There were times when fashion and bridal weeks were not arranged in Pakistan. But now these events are an encouraging sign. New models, designers, makeup artists and photographers get a chance to display their talent due to these events. International buyers also come to these shows; they not only appreciate our work but also give orders. Important thing is that foreign journalist are astonished to see the work of Pakistani fashion and fashion designers, that Pakistani designers are capable enough to design such fashion. It can be justified if I say fashion shows are providing earnings to many persons.

NW: There is a impression that fashion shows promote western dresses?

DP: I disagree with this misconception as per me there is nothing like that. All types of fashion is showcased in these shows.

NW: Dresses of famous designers are out of the range of a commoner. What will you say on it?

DP: Every designer has its own class and they design for their class. I also design for my class. If a commoner cannot afford my dresses ranging in thousand, it doesn’t mean that my creations are not for him. So there is no need to create such impression that dresses of famous designers are out of ranger from a commoner. Everyone lives as per their budget.

NW: What are the similarities in fashion of India and Pakistan?

DP: Indian and Pakistani fashion is not much different. They prefer light colors. We prefer Shalwar and they prefer Choori Dar Pyjama. Rest is almost similar.

NW: What are the actions required from government for promotion of fashion industry?

DP: It’s a matter of vision and preference. I feel sorry that promotion of fashion industry is not a preference for government. Whereas textile and fashion industries have the potential that with minimal investment one can earn quite a lot and it can also provide jobs to many persons. If government includes promotion of this industry in its preference it can change the situation.

NW: How is the performance of new comers?

DP: New comers are performing very well and I am satisfied with their work to a point. Rest there is always a room for improvement.

NW: Who is the competitor for Deepak Parwani?

DP: Deepak Parwani is the biggest competitor of Deepak Parwani there is nobody else.

NW: How you come towards acting?

DP: When I feel bored with my routine work then I do acting. My first drama was at the age of 19 with Aneeta Ayoob. My work was appreciated in that drama. After that whenever I accept any offer for a good role.

NW: How many dramas so far?

DP: So far my four plays have been on-aired. Kadoorat the fifth one is currently telecasted. My role in it is of a father who is quite depressed on mental situation of her daughter.

NW: You also did telefilms?

DP: Yes so far I have worked in three telefilms.

Talented model Ayyan said, Deepak’s work cannot be praised in words. His contributions for Pakistani fashion industry cannot be denied. Deepak’s work is classic and is exemplary for new comers. I feel honor in wearing dresses in fashion shows designed by Deepak.

Model Emaad Irfani and Fahad Mustafa said, there is no praise for his abilities. There is no one like him in male dress designing. Deepak is designing unique dresses for past two decades. Every designer has his own style but there is no one like Deepak. He is not only a good and experienced fashion designer but an equally good human being.

Nadia Hussain said first photo shoot of my life was with Deepak. Deepak has always worked as per need of the hour and it is his biggest quality. I was in school when gowns designed by Deepak were quite famous. Girls love to wear Deepak’s gowns in gatherings. I also found interest in knowing more about Deepak and when I get a chance to do first shoot with him, I fully enjoyed it . Whether its western, male or bridal Deepak has designed everything very beautifully.

Top Pakistani Dramas – Week 3

0

We are back with our analysis of the Top Pakistani Dramas of the Week. We saw some really surprising changes in the Top 15 list this week. Here is the list:

1) Aasmanon Pay Likhaphoto(80)

2) Kankar

3) Adhoori Aurat

4) Aseer Zaadi

5) Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai

6) Aunn Zara

7) Mere Khuwaboon Ka Diya

8) Zindagi Hai Tu

9) Yeh Shaadi Nahi Hosakhti

10) Mann Ke Moti

11) Mere Humrahi

12) Saari Bhool Humari Thi

13) Matam

14) Kadurat

15) Kabhi Kabhi

  • Aasmanon Pay Likha has remained on the first position for the 3rd time in a row. I see the making of a hit show here! This show has definitely appealed to the masses and dominated the Wednesday prime slot.
  • Kankar and Adhoori Aurat have swapped places this week. The divorce twist in Kankar has made it more interesting and thus, it has acquired the 2nd place this week. Adhoori Aurat is not far behind in the 3rd position; the show is getting more gripping as it is nearing towards its climax.
  • Aseer Zadi has moved up the ladder from its 7th position to the 4th position. It is currently the most watched show in the Saturday prime slot leaving Numm way behind in the ratings. Shockingly, Numm did not even make it to the list of the Top 15 this week. Most probably due to its snail pace; this proves that a superb cast is not enough to make a show hit!
  • With the secret finally unfolding, Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai has gotten more interesting and has acquired the position in the top 5, despite the tough competition from Adhoori Aurat.
  • Mere Khuwabon Ka Diya has taken a huge leap from the 11th position to the 7th position. It has beaten Mere Humrahi and Halki Si Khalish who air in the same slot. Mere Humrahi has taken the 11th position in the ratings this week and the reason is obvious; the show is going to way too slow!
  • Meri Zindagi Hai Tu is finally attracting viewers; it has reached the 8th position from its 10th position last week. Despite cut throat competition from shows like Kankar and Kabhi Kabhi, the show is still gaining viewers.
  • Kadurat got a huge drop in its rating this week; it dropped from the 8th to the 14th spot. The reason might be that the story is getting too repetitive now. People have had enough of the revenge game and the content of this show can no longer be watched with one’s family.
  • Darmiyan did not make it to the list this week and the reason is the tough competition by shows like Kadurat and Aasmanon Pay Likha in the same slot. Mann Ke Moti is back in the Top 10 shows once again due to the new twist and turns seen in the show. This show has appealed to the masses from the start, but the ratings has dipped in the past few weeks.
  • Shows like Matam, Saari Bhool Humari Thi and Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakhti has made it to the list this time. Yeh Shaadi Nahi Hosakti will air its last episode this week and will hopefully receive a good response from its viewers for its last episode.
  • Kabhi Kabhi and Aunn Zara have seen a slight dip in the ratings. Kabhi Kabhi fell from the 14th position to the 15th position while Aunn Zara fell from the 5th to the 6th position this week. Rishtey Kuch Adhoorey se and Tar-e-Ankaboot have exited the list.

So what is your opinion about this week’s ratings?

Aunn Zara – Episode 17

0

That was one beautifully directed episode which conveyed the emotions right, every single time. I wish that the story would’ve moved forward & there was less emphasis on the depression everyone is going through. I know the pace is right & everything is perfect but still a little shift from sad times to the happy ones please!

I loved the conversations, everyone’s bigheartedness & acceptance to Aunn’s decision. Even when deep inside they wanted to stop Aunn from moving out of their blessed home, they have stopped themselves, not only themselves but others as well who wanted to burden both Aunn & Zara with the wrongness of the decision they’ve taken. Husna cries on her own, Daadi cries to the point where she is hurt so badly but still they maintain the dignity & show their caliber by quietly being submissive. It was heart-wrenching to see them so much used to the fact that Aunn was still there & called him whenever they felt like. Daadi wanted to ‘phookofy’ after she recited Holy Qur’an & Husna wanted to make sure Aunn eats a freshly cooked meal.

A few bits & bobs did show the progress in the story where everyone on their own took some steps. Shehna has backed out obviously because she is dreading the whole marriage thing in her life considering what her best friend has gone through. I still respect Manzar for staying quiet at first because he didn’t want to reveal the true face of Aunn in front of his prospect wife. He did act like a true friend even when he felt his dream wedding was falling apart but he chose to secure the dignity & respect of his best friend.

Nighat did her bit by visiting Jamshed which might open another way for them to speak to each-other but right now Nighat’s concern was about Zara’s decision which she found out was materialized on Jamshed’s wish. Another chapter of misunderstanding opened but I am sure Jamshed will do everything to take care of the things & especially to clear his name in front of ‘mohtarma’.

I must say that Aunn has crossed all the limits of selfishness. At first he wanted to snatch Zara away from the whole family because he thought he’d do everything to draw her closer to him but just after their first day in their personal space when Zara asked for a cup of tea, Aunn was disgusted but sadly he had no other option left then to tend to Zara because she ain’t well. I think what we predicted is wrong, she might not be expecting but may be due to mental pressures, tensions & no considerate diet she has gone weak. May be she doesn’t say but she is taking things too seriously & over-thinking the situations & for that she is facing a decline in her health.

Ohkay, who respects Manzar even more for all the reality checks he gave to Aunn? I DO. Not only he clarified Sheha’s misunderstandings but also checked Aunn’s shape left right & centre because he is just frustrated by the negativity Aunn has been upto lately as it has effected not only his family but now his friend in some way too. Just a few words from him & Aunn lost it completely because he is so used to the sugar coated, flowery words but all of a sudden when he was exposed to some thorns, he just couldn’t take it. Even though I know nothing can part these bro-like friends but it was only Manzar who could talk to him clearly to set his mind right.

It is sad to see that Aunn has become so selfish that he just can not tolerate anything going against his will & way. A guy who was showered with so much love could stoop to this level is quite frustrating to see. Even now he found it difficult to tend to Zara & that too in just a few hours he had a reality stroke that living away from his family is not going to be easy. Daadi’s conversation reflected how Aunn has taken every thing from his father which she just couldn’t believe herself.

Now I am kind of relieved that Zara will find out about Aunn soon enough & will make things right but I wish she regains her health & spark to tackle Aunn her way. One of the most beautiful scenes was when Husna reminisced of her conversation with Daadi after her husband left. It spoke volumes of what a sane & wise woman can do, how can a woman make or break her home & how many sacrifices one does to earn this level of respect which she has now in the eyes of Daadi & everyone else. What a beautifully etched character.

Loved the episode in bits & pieces but over all I am waiting for the revelations soon & dear Aunn please be ready to face the women avengers.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Reema’s Shoe Broken on the Ramp But Look at Her Confidence!

Reema does not usually get involved in fashion shows but recently she participated in a fashion week in Lahore show casing the designs of some prominent designers. One of Reema’s shoes’ heel broke while she was on the ramp, instead of getting confused Reema showed how confident she is by continuing the catwalk as if nothing had happened. Waving the shoe in the air was taking it too far though! This incident also makes one wonder how many times that particular pair of shoes must have been worn by different models already. And also how much fuss Reema made about it behind the stage afterwards;)

Do you like Reema’s confidence? Didn’t she handle the situation really well?

While speaking about her devotion towards the suffering ones, she explained that almost all the religions promote the fundamental ideas. Saba Hameed’s Talented Family Tree

0

As we all know, Saba Hameed is the one who is among renowned and unbelievably talented media  personalities of Pakistan. Her acting skills, involvement in every character she has been assigned with, perfect dialogue delivery and her expressions are truly matchless. She was to a Muslim Family in Lahore and is a daughter of famous writer and columnist Hameed Akhter.

She got married to Syed Pervaiz Shafi and is a mother of two children Meesha Shaafi and Faris Shaafi. Due to some issues their marriage was unable to work out for them, she filed divorce and soon got married to Waseem Abbas.

sSaba Hamid is a talented artist who proved herself in many dramas ,long plays,Tv shows, comedy shows and sitcoms.  Saba works for both Pakistan Television and private channels which includes Geo Tv,Ary, Hum Tv and many more. Various performances of Saba Hameed still live in heart of masses. Her performance in a sitcom “Family Front” proved her versatility in field of acting as a great comic performer.

Coming towards Meesha Shaafi, daughter of Saba Hameed from her ex-husband, she is one of her own kind. She is a singer, model and an actor at the same time and gave excellent performances in Lollywood, bollywood and Hollywood. In 2012,she was casted in a Hollywood movie Mira Nair- The reluctant Fundamentalist. In the same year ,she was also casted for a huge Lollywood project Waar.As far as Bollywood is concerned, she was seen as a swimmer in Bollywood’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, that was a huge hit in India. Her role in that movie wasnt that much defined and important, still ,for all scenes during which she was seen on the screen, she nailed it.

meesha

Coming to her singing career, she was lead vocalist in a band called Overload. A turn came in her career when she sang Alif Allah with Arif Lohaar in Coke Studio and she got famous for her loud, different and vibrant voice. Alif Allah is considered to be the most viewed Pakistani video and has scored around 11 million views.

arif-lohar-meesha-shafi-jugniFaris Shaafi, son of Saba Hameed and Pervaiz Shaafi started his career as a singer(rapper) and got much popularity because of his video Awaam. He then tried his luck in field of acting  and performed in a popular show Manjali that was aired Geo Tv.Faris Shah’s second video Tere Bina wasnot a huge hit still it was considered to be an entertaining song.

unnamed

On serious note, I was completely unaware of both Faris Shah and Meesha Shaafi as Saba’s children. It was a big treat to know that Saba has a strong family tree as far as field of showbiz  is concerned.

Waseem Abbas, husband of Saba, is Pakistani actor and director. He appeared onscreen with his real life wife Saba Hameed for the very first time in a sitcom Family Front. Waseem statrted his career in early 80s and gained much popularity due to his performances in serial Samandar and then Aashiyaana.

images

I am not familiar of samandar, but I was a huge fan of Aashiyaana and at that time, I was a young kid.Few months back, I downloaded that serial again and revived my childhood memories.Without any doubt, every single character in that serial performed extremely well.He also performed in many serials which include Badaltai Mausam,Ishq rog,Zara se baat and Manzil etc. Till now, Waseem is giving his best in every project that he is signing.

All my sincere prayers and well wishes are with them.

Do give your feedback.

Kadurat Episode 13 – Even More Plotting and Planning!

0

I must admit that after watching this latest installment I truly felt for Mahmood’s character. He may be a dimwit but no one should have to go through what he is going through. The fact that his own daughter is putting him through so much distress makes him even more pitiable. Mina’s unfeeling attitude towards her father in particular has made her character completely evil. She is blindly out to take revenge without taking into consideration what effect it is having on others.

Shaheen continued to harass Mahmood in this episode too. Atiqa like always tried her best to make Mahmood open up to her and he finally did share something with her even though it was an indirect reference. One thing is for sure that there is no rescuing the story of this play now because it has completely gone haywire but I must say that the acting stayed top notch in this episode too and the direction was very good as well. What a waste of talent!

kad1

Alina’s confusion after watching Shaheen and her father together was portrayed nicely. Momal Sheikh’s acting is much better in this play as compared to some other plays that she has worked in.

Asma’s resignation came out of nowhere and once again Asad seemed more desperate than anything else. There was even more plotting and planning in this episode as well. Shaheen and Mina could easily pass for bullies who will do anything to ensure things go their way. They have trouble written all over them.

kad4

This episode was strictly okay. Honestly speaking, I am gradually losing interest in the play. I feel like I have been watching Shaheen and Mina scheming for way too long although the play has 13 episodes to its credit till now. Sanam Saeed is brilliant no doubt but the story is going around in circles. Something drastic happens and then there is calm before yet another storm. Having said that, I must say that sadly some of the plays on Hum TV in this season are flawed in so many ways that there are still aspects of Kadurat that can be appreciated. If the story was taken to another direction, this could have been a very powerful play.

kad2

I think Hum TV’s production values and picture quality is unmatchable and I hope that the channel will give us some unforgettable plays in the coming future too like it has in the past. I must say that the preview of the next episode did not appeal to me at all because the way things have been going this new development will lead to a dead end too. I am quite sure that there are many other people who are watching this show in fast forward mode out of sheer curiosity or of course for the love of Sanam Saeed because she really is the star of the show. I can still remember the excitement with which I looked forward to the show in the beginning because I was so hopeful that the newness of the story and the treatment given to it will give us something extraordinary but unfortunately that is not the case anymore.

Annoying Things About Facebook Pages

0

Like many other people out there, I find facebook very useful for many reasons. One of the reasons is that different dramas pages keep me posted about what our celebrities are up to, which dramas to look forward to and much more. But there are some things that I find annoying about some such pages. Here is a list of those things…..

1. Posting pictures of celebrities with their wives and then asking people if they look good together. There is nothing wrong with doing this but most often it is because the celebrity figure is well loved while the spouse may not appeal to the public……something that the admin who posted the picture already knows and that is the very reason that they post it. This happens a lot especially with Fawad Khan. I have seen that people can be very cruel towards this couple. They are always saying mean things. Why do these people forget that the celebrity may be “public property” because they derive their strength from the public and because they chose to opt for such a profession but dragging their families in is very immoral. Imagine how the wives and husbands must feel when they read such comments, why do we forget that these people we see in the pictures are living and breathing humans and not just pictures on a facebook page.

2. If an on screen couple is a hit, admins very often compare the on screen couple with the real life one. I have seen pictures on pages where we see Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan on one side and Fawad Khan and Sadaf Khan (his real wife) on the other and the admin will be asking people which couple do they like more! That is height of insensitivity; Mahira Khan is married and so is Fawad Khan, they are not a real life couple. Such posts obviously are only meant to get the attention of the public or the admins derive sadistic pleasure out of comments that bash people’s wives and husbands.

facwbook

3. There are many pages which give attention grabbing punch lines and then make people click on the link that follows. When you click on the link , there is nothing new or attention grabbing in it. Such tactics can only work a few times after that people get annoyed and they stop clicking links on such pages.

4. Some pages focus on negative things only. The admins go out of their way to find “controversial” pictures of celebrities and keep an eye out for any mistakes by them and leave no stone unturned to question their values. I am in favor of keeping a check on the media but these celebrities have a personal life too which is their own personal matter. A drama critic should focus on the good and the bad and not concentrate on nit picking. I have actually unliked many such pages because they are really very annoying.

Do you use facebook? Have you liked many showbiz/dramas pages as well? Is there anything about these pages that you find annoying? Do you think that the admins should think a little more before posting things? Do you think they need to be more responsible.

MKPYH Episode 09 – Bari Nazuk Surat-e-Haal Hai!

So, before I proceed it is my obligation to admit that I laughed a lot during the whole episode, just love the humor of the director & everything about the story. I wish I could have enjoyed the episode a bit more because during the course of it, I was busy making pointers for the review & couldn’t stop thinking about the interesting comments that will follow. But please bear with me for a longest review ever as I don’t want to miss a single thing out because it’s my time of glory. :)

This episode was a total FAIL & reminded me of the old Urdu proverb which we have modified a little & that goes like ‘khoda pahar, nikla chuha…wo bhi mara hua’. I must say the to’s & fro’s were as always difficult to follow & we were helping to make each other understand what was going on as a flashback & was was shown as a present. The very first fail was Areeba & Arham’s conversation, but for a change it felt good to hear Areeba said ‘mujhe app par yakeen hai’, & Arham for the first time used the word ‘Aitbaar’ in stead of ‘Yakeen’ , which made me think that our rants have paid off & we have taught the dialogue writer some substitutes for the word ‘Yakeen’.

The second fail was when Arham went into a flashback after Areeba agreed to listen to his story – they were seen in their bedroom but after they came to the present & were still conversing, they were sitting in a garden with a complete change of dresses (& I’m relying on my fellow viewers Amna Salam & Views on MKPYH for exact details of the dresses). I believe if you start a conversation you end it right there or given the history, Arham was about to tell his wife the biggest secret that ruined his life but still in the middle of such an intense conversation they both managed to change their dresses & location – may be they were suffocated in a room & felt like breathing a fresh air while talking about such a heart-burdening secret?

In the past I found Shakeel’s character completely irrational (not that he has changed in the present). He gave lectures to his wife & degraded her saying she must be happy that Arham changed the way he looked. He was raving about the wrong decision he made by shaving his beard but that seemed completely out of question because IF Shakeel Sahab was such a staunch Muslim, he wouldn’t approve his wife’s haircut & his daughter’s ‘be-pardagi’ (I am just raising my opinions on the characters & I don’t intend any disrespect to the actors). Shakeel thought that the whole Islam revolved around Arham’s beard & as if when he shaved it, he shaved the morality he was taught. I would’ve loved Shakeel Uncle’s verdicts a bit more if we were shown that every family member had some modesty, but seems like Shakeel sahab were satisfied that 1 out of the family of 5 was doing things right.

Arham swooped in to talk his father out of the prejudice he had against Arham but I felt that these two conversations were shown way too late. It should’ve been shown ages before especially when Arham actually changed himself. Ohkay, Arham claims that it was HIS decision & he wants to live his life sticking to his decisions. But I am sorry Arham, when was that your decision? When did you EVER make your decisions? Wasn’t it Narmeen who convinced you for it? & yeah, after shaving your beard you learnt shouting at your parents which highly spoke of how Islamic you were! LOL!

Now coming to the ‘gunnah’ which Shakeel claimed to have witnessed himself. I am sorry but that was the third fail of the episode. The scene had absolutely NO grip & left me laughing like hyenas. That scene had so many sub-fails that I won’t be able to number them as I’ll run out of my maths vocab. Narmeen is shown to be staying at their place especially after her return from UK, so after all the chaos she moves to her mother’s place? What was the need of staying at her Pupho’s when she had a place of her own too in the first place? Ohkay even when her Pupho agreed to keep Narmeen at her house, couldn’t she give her a single room out of so many that she has, for which Narmeen had to sleep on a sofa? The way Narmeen got up from the sofa was the funniest, Pupho couldn’t afford a quilt for her bahu-to-be & that makes me wonder how did they afford such a huge mansion? Anyways. The girl who was shown as a culprit was their maid’s daughter & Narmeen actually asks ‘tum kaun ho?’, if she was a maid’s daughter, wouldn’t Narmeen had seen her before. Out of NO WHERE her mother comes yelling her lungs out to the point where she damaged my hearing, but where did she come from? What was she doing on the 1st floor? Ohkay, her beti must’ve sleep-walked in Arham’s room but aren’t maids supposed to stay in their servant quarters which are for sure NEVER on the 1st floor? Sarah’s verdict & assumption was the hideous thing I heard. She started off with false accusations that the maid ki beti slept in her room & later must’ve gone to Arham’s? I mean c’mon can anyone tell me WHY would a maid ki beti sleep in Sarah’s room in the first place…FAIL # 4!

Maid’s beti changed 2 statements…First one was ‘meinne kuch nahi kiya’, the second one was ‘Narmeen ne bheja’ & it was such a shocker that no one actually heard what she said because by that time Sarah swooped in with her – 0 IQ & thought she made a winner judgement. When everyone knew Arham had some inclination towards ‘deen’ then how did they ignore the girl’s confession? This whole chaos started off during the time of Fajr but the maid got the medical reports (sick) & some Faarigh NGO workers in a jiffy? I am wondering did the business commencing hours in Pakistan shift from 8AM to 5AM? That was quick & easy, haan? Fail #….? Ah! Forget it. & what’s with the medical reports asked about these days? Mehmood in Kadurat wanted Shaheen’s medical reports & here maid herself bought her beti’s medical reports. Chee!

During those chaotic moments, I didn’t help but notice Arham’s formal shoes. I mean who wears those during Fajr time or may be he sleeps while wearing those, just like SRK did in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Narmeen still had the guts to look into Shakeel’s eyes & say things on his face & when such a huge thing happens, the whole family sticks together but how did Narmeen manage to have a one-on-one conversation with Shakeel? Sorry but that calls for another fail. Later, when Narmeen’s crying she has a change of dress with matching bangles. A girl who sleeps on a sofa in her Pupho’s home still had some storage & then the time for her matching accessories to be worn at such a time? Fail again.

Samina calls Narmeen’s mother at her home asking if she ate something while a few moments ago she took a tray & walked out of Arham’s room. Aunty khana hi chorh detin bete k liye! LOL! I don’t know but the whole direction & the dialogues were below the belt. Nothing worked to make the episode work. Nothing was in a sequence it should’ve been & nothing was right & no dialogue or situation matched the other.

I must’ve felt for Arham a lot more if the whole episode had been right, he was crying & we were wondering ‘aisa hua kya hai?’  because there was no weight in the situations before. But if we forget Arham & his formal Fajr time shoes, I will definitely commend Ahsan Khan for his acting. Even when his mother doesn’t give him food, he still has a stamina to shout. & in the end, I think they were shown rich enough to afford security guards to protect their home & the family so why did the peace loving, bearded man – Arham had a gun? Sorry, but it doesn’t make sense to me but why am I even trying to make some?

So, this is what we were waiting for & it feels like there wasn’t anything to begin with for the whole team. I think everything in this drama was left on spur of a moments & whoever suggested whatever, that was materialized to make this drama. Really & utterly disappointed at the fail of a direction but definitely going to watch because I love to laugh. :)

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Billo, Bablu and Bhaiyaa to go on air soon!

0

If you are fond of enjoying comedy plots on screen and looking forward to a project worth following, your wait has finally reached to an end. ‘Billo, Bablu and Bhaiyaa’ is an upcoming comedy sitcom which will soon go on-air on ARY Digital. The promos of this upcoming drama serial are already out, revealing much about the project.

Been Written by Seema Ghazal, the direction of the drama is done by Sohail Javed while the production is been done by Wajahat Rauf and Shazia Wajahat. This is not the first time that we see this combination of write-up and direction; in fact the channel is one of the best platforms where the audience gets to see projects which are a result of the above stated combination.

The cast of the drama includes some appealing faces including Mawra Hocane, Shehroze Sabzwari, Moamar Rana, Arjumand Raheem, Javed Sheikh, Seema Pasha, Parveen Akbar, Khalid Anum, Ambar Nausheen, Durdana Butt, Ahmed Hassan, Nausheen Ibrahim, Aisha Khan,Amir Qureshi, Ali Sheikh,Fauzia Mushtaq, Sumbul Shahid and Aashir Wajahat.

The promo of the drama reveals a love story of Billo and Bablu, shown as Mawra and Shehroze on screen where the brother (Bhaiyaa) turns into a real barrier in their love. This is one of the very common ideas which are previously seen in different dramas with few variations.

See promo here:

All for now, let us now see how far it succeeds in keeping its potential audience entertained.

Fawad Khan Charging Fees for Every Scene!

0

Fawad Afzal Khan is one of the most popular names of Pakistani Television Industry. He has gained immense fame in the past few years; especially after Humsafar. Well, it seems the fame has got to his head now as he is demanding to get paid for every scene he enacts in a show. This news was reported in an Urdu newspaper recently. Actors are usually paid per episode, but Fawad Khan has formed a new trend of getting paid for every scene!

fawad khanNow other actors are also following this trend set by Fawad Khan and have started charging for every scene. This is bad news for the producers who now have to pay more to actors which interferes with their allocated budget. The actor’s high fees means producers now have to compromise on other aspects of the serial to fulfill the demands of the actors. This might even interfere with the quality of the serials produced in the future.

Many producers want to cast the most demanded and renowned actor of Pakistani Industry: Fawad Khan, but his fees has sky rocketed and most of the producers cannot afford to cast him in their serials. Recently, a producer had to drop Fawad Khan from the cast of his show because of the high fees he was demanding! It has been heard that Fawad is completely booked till 2014 because of two movies and a few other dramas.

Well, one should not only be materialistic in their approach. Money is a very important factor, but should not be the only factor that should be considered when an actor is offered a role. A challenging role can also be a motivation for actors to take up a show.

There are so many fans of Fawad Khan who want to see him more of his shows on Television. Due to his high demand for the payment, he is bound to lose a lot of good projects. He will also be seen in a Bollywood movie pretty soon and according to news; he is also doing another movie. We already know that he has given a nod for the movie produced by Sultana Siddiqui’s which will be her first venture in Lollywood. This might be the second movie mentioned in the news.

Fawad Khan has a huge fan following and the audiences have a lot of expectations from him to do quality projects. Most of the audiences are not being able to connect with his current show on air, Numm, and the main reason is that they had pretty huge expectations from the serial just because Fawad Khan was playing the lead. Numm is a very well made serial, but the high expectations of the viewers had disappointed them as they consider the show not up to the mark that they had set initially.

We really hope Fawad Khan high charges would not interfere with his rising career!

What are your views about this news?

Woh – The Finale

0

This last episode was just as engrossing and chilling as the entire serial. Each scene was very well planned. All the actors did a commendable job, their commitment to this project reflected in their flawless performances. Sadly, there seems to be a dearth of novel ideas in our plays nowadays and the success of Woh goes to prove that our public welcomes innovative ideas. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t even looking forward to this show and ended up watching the first episode by chance. I found Woh’s storyline very original, the direction very impressive and the casting perfect. Deep down I was fearful that the viewers may not give this play the appreciation it deserved and resultantly no other writer, director, producer or actor will venture into such projects. The response of the viewers made this play a success and as a result very soon we will be watching a sequel to the show. Therefore, although this was the last episode of this prequel but there will be more in the future.

woh2

Faisal’s friend takes him to an expert who explains to them the reasons behind Mehr’s condition and after a lot of research he comes up with an antidote. I have praised Nyla Jafferi’s acting many times before too but every time I watch Woh, I can’t help but be grateful for seasoned actors like her who breathe life into characters by paying attention to minute details. It was quite apparent right from the onset that the devil that had possessed Mehr was very powerful and that is exactly what was shown. Faisal’s friend had already warned him in one of the previous episodes that such things are not easy to tackle with.

woh1

Like always Shaista fails to differentiate between Mehr and the possessed being. She is convinced that the only solution to the problem is to send Mehr back to her mother’s house and she does just that. The way in which Faisal stood by Mehr was very touching. That is another aspect of the play that made it stand out; the relationship between all the characters has been portrayed beautifully. The sacred bond between husband and wife was shown the way it should have been shown. Even the relationship between Faisal and his friend always came across as very real and warm. I am not going to go into the details of the happenings of tonight’s episode because there maybe viewers who have not watched this last episode yet.

woh7

The only part of tonight’s episode which I found unconvincing was when Faisal leaves his mother how with his possessed wife, otherwise everything else was perfectly executed. There were times when the viewers were made to feel like Faisal cared more for his wife and was not at all aware of how the situation in his house will effect his child. Arij Fatima’s performance was flawless all through the play. She portrayed the guilt, innocence and helplessness of Mehr faultlessly and at the same time she was outstanding in her portrayal of the demon. This was a very intricate character but Arij Fatima acted it our almost effortlessly. Shamoon Abbasi is one of my favorite actors primarily because I feel like he is a true artist and not one of those actors/directors who are only in the business to make money. The child artists playing Saba will have a lot of responsibility on her tiny shoulders now but i am sure that with a talented director like Angeline Malik to guide her, she will do very well because she has the confidence and skills. The writer Syed Atif Ali penned down a very intelligent script, he deserves due credit for taking the plunge along with his other team members. The make up artists deserve applause for all the hard work they put into doing Mehr’s make-over in particular.

I would like to congratulate the entire team of this show for a work very well done and most certainly we are all looking forward to season 2.

Why food channel? Are you fond of cooking? In response Abeel told “I accepted the offer being host, as the cooking is responsibility of cooking expert in show. At that time I even not knew about the names of masalas. But now after four years I have also learned how to cook well”

Any intention to become a cooking expert in future? “Neither such intention, nor any plan to do a show as cooking expert. I only like hosting” Abeel answered

As you said you have learned cooking and quite accomplished now, do you cook at home?

“Yes now I can cook all types of dishes. I try all the recipes which I like most” Abeel answered confidently.

When you do cooking there must be some hustle at home, that today Abeel is cooking food or you do it silently?

“No I neither do any disturbance nor ask for help from anyone instead I complete my work myself in a brisk manner”

Abeel cooking is liked not only by her family but by her friends too. Since her parents are from Delhi she is now also an expert in cooking Delhi cuisine. Her favorite dishes are traditional desi food of Delhi, lasgne, pasta and noodles of every type. She can also cook these dishes very well.

How much glamour is necessary in showbiz? How much importance you give to glamour?

“Glamour is a must in showbiz”, Abeel answered instantly, “But there should not be any element of immodesty, glamour is not a bad thing, but consideration of our culture and values is also important. As far I am concerned I like being attached to my culture and always wear eastern dresses.”

Any preference in makeup? In response Abeel told that she likes light and natural makeup, and does her makeup herself.

On the question what are you plans for marriage, she told “Maybe soon you all will hear my wedding news as it is it my mother wish, but I am not yet engaged”. In this regard Abeel prefers decision and choice to her mother and wants to select her life partner as per her mother’s opinion. Abeel is second in total of four siblings. Her father is no more in this world, so she is quite touchy about her mother and wants to comfort her in all possible ways. On the topic of love she said “I have never experienced it, but it is a natural sentiment and I think persons in love with each other are ready to compromise for each other”.

Any plans to join acting field? In response Abeel said, “Acting is quite time consuming activity that is why I cannot afford to do work in dramas. I only like live shows in which there is no recording.” She further told “If I had a beautiful voice I may have been singing but in future I have plan to work in the field of textile designing”

Abeel has almost worked with all the famous chefs and all are her favorites too. But due to her long relationship and respect for Mrs. Zubeda Tariq, she considers her as the best cooking expert. She told. “It is due to Zubeda aapa that I can cook well today. She guides about all things in an easy manner that cooking looks very simple.”

Any tips for women who do cooking?

“I am not a chef, but I have learned many things since I am host of a cooking show for many years. First thing I will like to tell is interest and dedication is must to do anything. In start there must be some difficulty in cooking but your interest will make it easier. So cooking nihari or kofta is not difficult any woman can make it.”

Any common mistake which women generally do while cooking?

“Mostly housewives or girls learning cooking add more salt by mistake, so always add less salt and pepper. As it is easy to make less more, but there is a long process to make salt and pepper less. Also do not make too oily foods, try to add less quantity of oil in food.”

Soft spoken and soft hearted Abeel likes chit chat, but she is also an isolationist by nature and normally avoids gatherings. She said I like hustle bustle but I also like isolatation.

Her hobbies include reading mystery novels, watching horror movies, sketching, designing and cooking well made dishes. She said good food is a way to win hearts.

She considers wordings of Anwar Maqsood as best comments of her life which he said on completion of 1000 episodes of “Haandi” that “He has never seen any anchor of a live show speaking such clear and pure Urdu fluently.”

Her message for readers is “Cooking is not a difficult thing; it is an art so enjoy it. Also take care of your parents as there is no replacement of them in this world.”

Interview of Yasra Rizvi – No intention of marriage, I am scared of cats

Interview of Yasra Rizvi has been published in Sunday Magazine of Daily Jang. It is translated for the readers of this blog. Interview and pictures courtesy of Daily Jang. Below is the translation of interview conducted by Ms. Saima Naaz in Urdu for Daily Jang.

Claim of versatility by many new and upcoming actors is like promises of politician with public during election campaign. But truth is what that is admitted by all, and the opinion of public about politicians is apparent in front of us. However in showbiz, it is true, many new actors are working here giving a fresh look to screen. But it is also true many youngsters are progressing by using glamour and technology. But..Yasra Rizvi is one of those actors who have made her place in the field of showbiz due to her quality work in quite short time. A confident and strong personality Yasra has performed a role in Geo TV’s drama serial ‘Virasat’ totally opposite to her personality. After doing a well performed comedy role in ‘Kis din mera vyah howay gaa’, she is now skillfully performing role of a grieved mother in Geo TV’s drama ‘Man ke Moti’ and receiving praise for it as well. Yasra is not only an actor, but she is also God gifted in field of writing and speech. Then why shouldn’t she be called versatile. Yasra is a pleasant edition to television industry and it is expected that her interest in films and its trends can play a role in betterment of our film industry. In recent days there has been an interesting conversation with Yasra regarding her private and professional which Is as follows for the readers.

Question: Tell us about your family and life.

Yasra: I am from Islamabad. I was born on 15th November 1982. My parents are also from the field of journalism. Mother used to write diary for Daily Jang Islamabad. I have only one brother who is also in journalism.

Question: From where you completed education?

Yasra: I have done BBA in Human Resource Management from Michigan University, USA and then Master in Mass Communication from Britain. Then my interest shifted towards films and theater and I tried to give a new trend to Urdu theatre and film with my writings.

Question: How was your childhood time?

Yasra: My childhood was in Islamabad. My house environment was quite literary, so I was interested in ghazal, classical poetry and poetry. I never done acting in school, but when I started writing , my family never stopped me, instead they helped me.

Question: From which field you started your career?

Yasra: I started my career as a writer and then came towards acting. For theatre my first written play was “Bench” which was in Urdu. It was a memorable moment for me, when after this play, when audience in theatre hall clapped for me. I can never forget that day.

Question: Which type of literature do you like?

Yasra; I am a drama writer and since my parents are also in the field of writing, instead of discouraging they encouraged me. I am inspired from the works of Anwar Maqsood and Munnoo Bhai. My own writing style is also a bit classical.

Question: Born in a literary environment, being a writer yourself, how you came towards acting?

Yasra: It was sudden. I was in Karachi, when I met few persons from Islamabad theatre over here. I presented my portfolio to them and they instantly called me. That drama was not worth mentioning but my character was appreciated. After theatre, Sabiha Somaar casted me in a small but powerful role in Geo’s drama ‘Mi Raqsam’.  I also did ‘Kis din mera vyah howay gaa’ on Geo. Experience of working in drama ‘Virasat’ of Geo was also helpful. Now a days I am working in drama ‘Man Ke moti’ on Geo TV.

Question: Being a writer and actor at same time, is helpful or harmful?

Yasra: Its helpful in every way. Being a writer I knew many problems of our society. I want whichever drama I work in, must have some message and objective and it would convey a message to public along with entertainment in an unfelt way. Drama or showbiz is not only entertainment but is also a necessity of our society. Entertainment is still limited to television for a large population of our country. Television can be very helpful for awareness and consciousness for those people. Whether writer or actor I think both must have good observation. I use observation in both writing and acting, due to which understanding and performing a character becomes easier.

Question: What’s your opinion about theatre?

Yasra: Theatre is a quality entertainment but sadly Urdu theatre has almost ended in our country. Quality of Punjabi theatre is very poor. Our youth has done very hard work for Urdu theatre. Recently the success of ‘Aangan Terha’ has set a new trend and I feel very happy to see a theatre prospering again.

Question: Any message for current youth

Yasra: Our youth do not read classical history, books or go to library; they are not familiar with dramas of Imtiaz Ali Taaj. I feel sorry for that. I want youngsters should also focus on this.

Question: Which type of role you want to perform in dramas?

Yasra: No special preference for characters, I believe in versatility. Performing roles of same type is like death of an artist for me.

Question: Any interest in music

Yasra: I am inspired from legends like Noor Jehan, Fareeda Khanum, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali, and also like to listen to them.

Question: Youngsters of every era want to join showbiz what is your opinion on it.

Yasra: I think if someone has talent, nothing in the world can stop him/her for making name. As compared to past now youngsters have more opportunities. There are many television channels and radio station, but talent is must.

Question: What is your opinion on ongoing trend of ‘Remaking’?

Yasra: Remaking of films is a good thing. New generation knew about their heritage by this. But presenting old films in new style is not sufficient; there must be new films as well. In India film is a profession of many people, if film making starts in our country it can provide work to many houses.

Question: Many new artists frequently complain regarding no support from senior actors, how is your experience?

Yasra: Attitude of seniors has always been good towards me. If a junior is arrogant and ineligible no one teach him/her. I think nothing could be more encouraging then praise from a senior.

Question: How was your journey from Islamabd to Karachi?

Yasra: Karachi is an excellent city. Life continues here despite terrorism incidents. If anyone wants to work or make career here, both this city and its citizen are extremely helpful’

Question: When will you get married?

Yasra: Everybody gets married, if I don’t it will be an individuality. So I don’t have any intention for getting married.

Question: You are quite sensitive about film industry, any plans to make a film in future?

Yasra: Definitely, there is strong plan to make a film. Film is quite demanding thing, so am working patiently. I want to make a film, in which dressings, language, environment everything is a representative of our country. Film must be close to reality. If film is Pakistani, then it must take care about our values. Making such film is my dream which I will make true in near future.

Question: If there is one principle for a successful life, what should it be?

Yasra: “Hard work” is the only principle for a successful life.

Question: Which is your area of interest and which areas you dislike?

Yasra: I watch television with great interest. I can do cooking, but no special interest in it. Politics is so much discussed in my house that I have no interest in it. I am quite social; all my past friendships are still active. I easily intermix with others. I don’t like getting up early, but now have to do that.

Question: Which area you will like to work in future?

Yasra: Film writing, production and direction, I will focus on all of these.

Question: Any childhood fear which still prevails

Yasra: Oh, I am scared of cat, and I don’t dine outdoors due to this.

Question: It is said, there is a woman behind every successful man. Do you believe it?

Yasra: Whether man or woman, there is a support system behind every successful person. There are sincere persons who encourage them.

Question: What is your message to those who want to join showbiz?

Yasra: Like all other fields you have to work hard, if you want to earn fame in showbiz. Teamwork and cooperation will result in your success.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 04

0

Ohkay, so that was one well-directed episode. I totally liked what I saw & the little but interesting progress in the story was nicely executed & not to forget, at the right time.

Rehbar, who at first seemed rude & nosy actually has suffered a business loss & that has made him the way he is now. Like I said before that Eshaal’s father is actually making business deal with Shahveer in terms of getting Eshaal married to him but didn’t know he had done it previously as well. Rehbar, who ran a mill of his own was run into bankruptcy because of his own father-in-law. I believe that Javed Sheikh actually can’t tolerate anyone in his competition when it comes to business, therefore, his conversation with Rehbar made it a bit more clear of the reason why he is so persistent in getting Eshaal married to Shahveer.

I enjoyed the conversations a lot this time because they gave an insight to everyone’s characters a bit more. Rehbar who believes Eva had low IQ was forced into marrying him by her father & later Eva proved Rehbar right when she chose to tell her father about getting belittled by Rehbar. She just didn’t want to understand her husband & his mental pressure which he is coping up with & for that she failed to see him depressed. Eva even though loves Rehbar but she is a bit too comfortable in her zone for which she doesn’t actually care because for her, her father has given a great security to her husband, so for Eva things are perfect. Javed Sheikh’s conversation with Rehbar actually told more of how he treats & what he thinks of him. I am sure Rehbar has a few plans of his own because he has slightly told Eva of what he is capable of & what he’d do in the near future. I am sure Javed Sheikh will pay for what he has done.

Eshaal & Arez, even though never wanted to, have fallen in love with each-other. Arez who stopped himself even after being convinced by his friend just couldn’t resist confessing to Eshaal too. & on the other hand Eshaal broke the ice & confessed first because she is too frightened by the thought of going to the US for good & never being able to see Arez again. That scene was really intense when they gave words to the feelings they had for each other. It was good that Arez didn’t hold back as well & just put Eshaal to ease by telling her that he loves her too.

Eshaal has finally taken a stand in front of her father because she really doesn’t want to get married to Shahveer, she being a strong-headed girl found it easy to voice her opinion right on her father’s face but on the other hand Arez will have to face difficulties – a lot of them, because his family just wants him to earn so that they can lead a peaceful life, his younger siblings fail to understand or take care of their elder brother’s feelings & his mother is too strict & stern to just listen to him. Soni, who has yet to get married thinks her brother has no right to have a life of his own, which is sad.

Over all it was the best episode so far because of those intense conversations with some amazing acting skills. I love how Mehwish Hayat has played the role of Eshaal, she is just flawless. Arez & Eshaal make a perfect on-screen couple & yes by saying that I’d now say that I have a huge expectations from this drama. I hope it keeps progressing up without a single decline. Just can’t wait to see what Rehbar would come up with.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Numm Episode 07 – Snoozefest!

0

This latest episode was a complete disappointment; the unnecessary screen time given to the conversations between servants in particular left me clueless. There is absolutely no need to focus so much on the workers in the haveli unless they have some major role to play in the story, which most certainly is not the case. When the maid breaks the glass, the exchange of looks between her and Wali was totally pointless. I feel like I saw more of Salima today than anyone else and I have no idea why! I think she either got as much screen time as Neelam or perhaps more.

I don’t think I can write a very serious, analytical review for tonight’s episode so here is more of a narration of events and my take on what happened.

The two drunk men who are Bare Sahab’s friends declare Wali “passed” – what else does he need to qualify as a wise young man. On the other hand all of a sudden Wali feels that he can judge Bare Sahab’s friends but turns into a lame duck soon afterwards!

numm4Hurray! Good news for all the Mahjabeen fans. Mahjabeen is indispensable after all! She faints in the line of duty and somehow I felt that the whole scenario was very strange. Any woman who runs a house knows that a well trained maid can easily manage things without being supervised. The way Mahjabeen’s “importance” in the house was shown was very unconvincing. Meetha nahi bana, khana kum hai – seriously aur bhi dukh hei zamany mei! I couldn’t help but notice the panadol syrup bottle on Mahjabeen’s side table, no wonder she is not recovering;)

The question of the day was – How many times do Wali and Neelam talk on the phone! The answer we got was nothing short of a mystery. Do they really talk everyday, thrice a day?? We can’t be sure. Is it really an issue? I am not sure about that either! Neelam has definitely fallen for her husband and Mr. Jonti has some serious competition now, time for the poor tree to move on!

numm2After the curly haired mystery guy in the fifth episode, in this episode we were given another puzzle to solve – who is the guy Mahjabeen mentions when she is down with a fever? Is he the same boy we saw in the fifth episode? I hope we find out soon enough because the questions are piling up.

I am wondering why there was so much focus on Mahjabeen’s illness today. Maybe she has some serious disease and it won’t be diagnosed just yet. But then it can just be the outcome of the night she spent sleeping in the garden. Guesses anyone?

numm5

Honestly speaking, I feel cheated after watching this latest episode because I waited all week to find out how things change for Wali, Mahjabeen and Neelam. Last week’s episode to me was truly magical and this week’s episode was completely opposite to that. Yes, things have most certainly changed at Neelam’s end and Wali decided to think things through too but this episode did not even pass as a good filler episode. The primary reason being that there were too many scenes that seemed extremely unnecessary and pointless. I would have liked this episode a lot better if we saw more interaction between Neelam and Wali rather than hearing about how they had been in communication on daily basis. I got the feeling that Neelam was lying and so was Wali. The good news is that Neelam has learned the art of sharing but Kanza Wyne’s acting was at its worst today; she over acted in every single scene. There are times when she comes across as cute but today her accent and the manner in which she delivered the dialogues was too OTT. Last but not the least, here is a very special screen shot of the star of the show today – where would we be without you Salima!

numm7

Tonight’s episode failed to impress me in any way at all. Everything seemed dragged and I simply failed to feel for any of the characters.

Did you watch this latest episode? please feel free to share your views.

‘Aasmano Par Likha’ And The Complications In The Making Of The Serial

0

One of the most reviving serials which Geo TV is now offering to its viewers is ‘Aasmano Par Likha’ which has conquered the hearts of the Pakistani audience with the first few episodes. The drama is a perfect example of what we have been listening that a good picture is a result of the most difficult combination of colors every created.

The drama which goes on air on Geo TV every Wednesday at prime time comes under the production of ‘A&B Productions’ and is been directed by Mohsin Mirza. The cast of the drama includes some veteran actors like Shehryar Munawar, Sajal Ali, Saba Faisal Saba, Hameed and Mehmood Akhtar. It was recently in one of the newspapers that the director of the drama serial stated about the difficulties the team of Aasmano Par Likha has encountered so far during its shoot in a rented house.

1380430_166267900244208_666440427_n (1)

He said that the house they rented to show as Shehryar  Munawar’s house on screen, was a real trouble for them as the owners of the location treated the team pretty harsh though the producer was paying as per the contract signed. Mirza further disclosed that the owners didn’t permit them to shoot after dusk (that is, After Maghrib) which was nowhere mentioned in the clause. Moreover, showing no signs of respect, he once asked seniors actors including Saba Hameed and Saba Faisal to leave their dining table while they were having their lunch, and told them to have it on the floor.

The same house will be shown in the upcoming episodes of the said drama serial. It is therefore true that levels of perfection which are been shown on screen, do not reveal one percent of the tough time which the team goes through during the shoot.

Share your views about the news please. Do you think it is decent to treat the senior celebrities this way even when the contract is been signed of having no claims on the house during the shoot?

Blessings,

Nida Zaidi

Kankar Episode 18 – Beautiful Message

0

Thi ami, aap ki bhi izzat thi….ap ne karwaye nahi!

After Shaista insulted Kiran in every way possible, this one line by Kiran was enough to make any sane person realize who truly was at fault. Shaista’s focus on material things was yet again reflective of her way of thinking. It was nothing short of a shock for her that Kiran couldn’t care less about the jewelry or the money and she really was there to get her books. Shaista’s hatred for Kiran has been portrayed superbly; she can only wish that she could have had the courage to stand up to her husband like that and that is the reason why she will go out of her way to make Kiran regret her decision. Also, one very important reason for Shaista turning into an even more evil person is the fact that she knows that her niece is still “available”!

kankat

The conversation between Adnan and Kiran was one of the many insightful and well thought-out conversations in today’s episode. This particular scene was brilliantly executed as well. Sanam Baloch is an extremely gifted actress; I can’t help but fall in love with every single expression over and over again. Her timing is absolutely flawless, she is undoubtedly a natural. The question Kiran asks Adnan was very ironic..
” Adnan tumhei mujh se hamdardi nahi hai?” Adnan’s expressions and the brief pause that followed said so much more than any words could. Kiran has no idea that what Adnan feels for her is much more than just compassion because Adnan will never tell her! Kiran’s dialogue about how it is alright with everyone if a girl suffers the pain of an abusive marriage but everyone thinks its wrong to get a divorce was spot on. I really like Kiran’s character, she is a very wise girl who knows that she has to look out for herself. She is brave enough to stand up for her rights and does not succumb to all the pressure.

kankar1

The conversation between Kiran and Shaista was extremely touching and thought provoking. I personally know people who always give the reference of the Quran when it comes to marital abuse but like Kiran pointed out they forget that the Quran has also put a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of men. And a man’s responsibility solely isn’t to provide a woman with shelter and basic necessities but to give her respect as well. This was another scene which was beautifully written; every single word made perfect sense.

Jo deen biwi ko shohar ka libas kehta hai vo us libas ko cheerne pharne ka kesa keh sakta haii?

kankar8

Thanks to his daughter, after so many years Jamal has realized how wrong he was. He thought, like Sikandar, that being a husband meant that you could treat your wife whichever way you desired but he knows better now. The way Jamal took a stand for his daughter was also very touching.

Tonight’s episode was extremely poignant, it was filled with conversations that were heartrending and the superb direction added to the beauty of all the scenes. This episode in particular seemed to be a labor of love; I must appreciate the superb direction by Aabis Raza, I am sure we will get to see much more creativity from him in the future too. Umera Ahmed has touched a very sensitive topic in a very intelligent way, giving us all a lot to ponder upon. She has shown the difference between the old thinking and the new one splendidly. Young people aren’t always wrong and the older one are not always right and there is always time to start afresh – to make new rules.

kankar9

The preview of the next episode showed that Shaista will leave no stone unturned to get Sikandar and Kiran divorced. Will Sikandar get married to Arzoo? Will their married life be the same as that of Kiran and Sikandar? Whose side will Shaista take then? There is obviously no hope for Sikandar and Kiran now.

Did you watch this latest installment. Please share your views about it and most importantly please share your favorite dialogues from tonight’s episode.

Khoya Khoya Chaand – And stubbornness continues..

0

So far,we came across compromising aspect of Angabeen. But from last couple of episodes, it can be easily observed that Beena is not what we thought of her, she is totally different. And I must say that difference in Beena’s attitude is primarily because of farooq and Ahmereen engagement plans.

1We have seen in last episode that how Aarib is attempting to forget his past and trying to move on with his life but Angabeen is the one who has changed her attitude completely in reverse direction, ofcourse.Ahmereen came to stay with Angabeen and Aarib and to know why Beena is always down. Sadly, this part is poorly directed and we,viewers, were incompletely unaware of what Ahmereen told her mother regarding Beena and Aarib’s relation. And then Beena got the good news that she will be a mother soon. That news made her happy for a while and then she was back to her previous mood with 180 degree change. As soon as Beena came to know that Ahmereen has no issue in accepting farooq as his husband, she started to stop Ahmereen from getting married to Farooq with every possible way.

2

I hated this thing of Beena that she didnot hesitated to put everything on her husband infront of Ahemereen for the sake of rejection of Farooq’s proposal.I must say that a faithful woman shouldnot do this for her man, neither portray her man to be worse husband nor should she be unthankful to Allah Almighty for bestowing His blessings upon her.Beena is playing with her life and she will have to bear the consequences soon.Despite of the fact that I hated Beena throughout of episode, she was looking really pretty at Ahmereen’s engagement.

3

Whole episode revolved around one single demand of Beena that she dont want to go with Aarib.Poor Aarib was unable to figure out that what is the reason behind it. And even after asking her again and again,he was asked to keep his mouth shut (ofcourse indirecty) that Beena feels depressed as and when Aarib leaves her alone at home and her situation supported this lame excuse of her.

4

Misunderstanding between Aarib and Beena’s family also developed only because of Beena’s silly demand. She wanted to live in Islamabad only because of breaking up Ahmereen and Farooq’s engagement.

Aarib left Beena with a hope that she will be fine soon and will return back to home. But preview of next episode is depicting something else.Fuss will be created and Beena will be asked by her mother infront of Aarib to stay in Islamabad at her own mother’s house.

Are you finding this serial engaging or not?

Do share your views.
Blessings,
Rabia Basharat.

Bilawal Bhutto asks “Burgers” to bear ban on VOIP

Sindh government has just announced a proposal for a ban on Voice over IP (VOIP) applications of Skype, WhatsApp, Tango and Viber. While different walks of people are expressing about it in social media, a rather unusual statment came from Chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party , Bilal Bhutto Zardari. In his tweet, he said

“Dear Burgers, Sorry about Skype/Viber/Whtsapp. Excuse us while we catch some terrorists and save some lives. SMS for 3Months”

bilawalbhuttozardari-tweet

Bilawal Bhutto has asked “Burger” person to tolerate this ban as Sindh government has to catch some terrorists and save lives of its people. Bilawal Bhutto has also suggested the solution for this situation  which is to use SMS for communication for three months.

Though general perception is that when implemented, people from all walks and classes will be affected by this ban, Bilawal has used word “Burgers” which is a slang term normally used to mention elite class .

VoIP Services CANNOT be blocked in Pakistan-Technical Sources

0

Pakistani audience is used to of witnessing fascinating and breathtaking news crackers which ultimately rest nowhere, giving no benefit to either the state or the locals ultimately. The news bombarded the citizens of Sindh with the news of shutting all the VoIP services in the province to ensure security. As revealed by Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, investigating teams produced a report that the suicide bombers normally communicate through Voice on Internet Protocol services, therefore an order of banning all VoIP tools including Skype, Viber, Whatsapp, Twitter, Tango, etc. was passed yesterday.

Untitled

Being an engineer myself, I kept wondering how can PTA actually manage to place a ban on the above stated services after all, these are not just the websites whose IP addresses could be made inaccessible; seconding my analysis, the spokesman of PTA has clearly stated that it is NOT possible to block the VoIP services as there is no equipment with the local operators within the country to make the packets of data inaccessible, which are been sent during the process.

He further said that though this can be done on federal level but banning the feature in a specific province is out of question.

See news here:

This might be a bliss for the ones who communicate with friends and family via these services but what is worth giving a thought is the fact that if the terrorists are really using this feature as their valued resource, there is no way to escape the threats of terrorism. It is obvious that when the Telecom authorities cannot trace the conversations made through VoIP, there is hardly any mechanism left to counter such activities.

For now, yes, Skype, Viber and Whatsapp is going nowhere.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 24 – Ashiya Meets Zayaan!

0

I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s episode. It completely revolved around Ashiya and how she ends up meeting Zayaan accidentally.

photo(13)Ashiya has a few complaints from her mother, and one of them is that she does not give her enough time. Like any other teenager, she also wants to spend some time with her mother, but Maryam is always so busy that she cannot give Ashiya the quality time she wants. Her second complaint is that Maryam never tells her anything about her father or his family. She keeps on asking Maryam and Ajji but she never gets a proper reply from either of them. It is normal for a girl of her age to be curious about her father, and it is time for Maryam to tell her a bit about him to satisfy her curiosity.

photo(12)Ashiya met Zayaan accidently at the book shop and felt an instant connection with him. She was curious to know more about him and tried to contact him. Zayaan, after being informed that the caller’s name was Ashiya, was impatient to contact her and Maryam ended up receiving his call. Zayaan was able to put the two and two together and knew his daughter was contacting him, and his happiness was on the top of this world. You start valuing a person when they are taken away from you, and same is the case with Zayaan who started valuing his daughter when she was taken away from him. I simply loved the phone conversation between Ashiya and Zayaan; Faysal Qureshi was simply marvelous during this scene. His expressions were simply spot on! I am looking forward to more scenes between Ashiya and Zayaan now.

photo(79)Nusrat and Afshah both are unhappy in their miserable lives. Nusrat is fed up of her loneliness as she has no one to take care of her except the servants. Zayaan rarely comes to meet her, thanks to Faiza. Afshah is also living in a ‘Jahannum’ where she is treated miserably by her husband. She is not even allowed to talk to her son, and since she made the huge mistake of transferring all her property in Khurram’s name, she has simply no value in Khurram’s house. Well, they both deserve every bit of the treatment they are getting!photo(14)Ajji does get worried when she overhears Ashiya talking to someone on the phone. She realized that she really needs her mother’s time and love and she tells this to Maryam. Maryam also realizes her mistake and starts spending time with her, but Ashiya’s grudge for Maryam has been building for a long time now, and she misbehaves with her at her friend’s house when they ask about her father. Maryam really needs to talk to Ashiya about Zayaan soon before it’s too late! The girl playing Ashiya is performing very well in this show.

Zayaan will now take advantage of Faiza being out on a holiday and will meet Ashiya. He got so emotional after hearing her voice; what will be his reaction when he finally meets her! He really does not deserve to meet her daughter, but it was fate which made him meet her in the first place and now they will meet again for the second time as was shown in the preview of the next episode.

Maryam will also get to know that Ashiya lied to her by calling her friend. What will be her reaction when she gets to know that she is meeting Zayaan out of all people!

I am really looking forward to the next episode now! I had thought this would be the last episode, but now I think there are at least two more episodes left of this show.

Do share your opinion about the episode this week!

Till Next Week

Aunn Zara – Episode 16

0

Ohkay, Aunn has crossed all the limits to a point where it isn’t even funny anymore. I don’t know how could he muster up the courage to divide his family to this extent where they are just bluntly shedding tears. I know there’s nothing to be getting worked up for & things will get better but the current situation of our favorite Punjabi family is just depressing.

I know the writer has stirred a perfect thought for all those out there who think that only the ‘bahu’s’ are the evil ones. Normally, it is said that the nicest families get the worst bahu’s, but I think Aunn being a son doesn’t deserve a family like this. I remember in the review of the 2nd episode I mentioned that even though this family is always attentive towards Aunn – attentive to the point where he gets irritated, they are sweet to the core because no matter what preferences they had in their minds regarding Aunn’s wife, they dropped it all & settled it on Zara happily because they knew that she was Aunn’s choice. Similarly, the feelings are the same this time too but the situation is different. Even though Daadi is crying her heart out, Husna is depressed, Nighat is speechless & Chachi thinks being child-less is just the right thing, still they are all agreeing on what Aunn has demanded because they just can not see him unhappy. What a perfect family in fact what a bunch of perfect ladies. *touchwood*

I just love how nicely the writer has pointed out the evil hidden in our society where the sons get away with everything & daughters-in-law have to put up with each & everything irrespective of them being at fault or not. No one cares what the daughter-in-law thinks or does & all they see is their sons being right. Currently the Punjabi family thinks it is Zara who is at fault yet they don’t forget to blame Aunn every now & then too. This is just like setting a whole new mind-set for so many ladies out there that, just for once, they should give a thought that their son’s can be wrong too which clearly this time a son, a grandson & a husband – Aunn is. No husband leaves a house of his parents if he doesn’t wish for it himself but conveniently the bahu’s get burdened by the taunts of ‘hamare larke ko le uri’. I commend the writer for pointing such heavy mistakes of MEN of our society by initially showing all the positives of what our females are capable of.

I hated seeing those frowning faces but the beauty of the direction & the flawless acting created a magic & where they have given us every reason to laugh, they made us cry too. I hated seeing Daadi hurt & Nighat trying to convince everyone to change their decisions by raising her voice, thinking it will help. I do find the communication gap another issue because even if Zara’s trying to start a conversation, she is blindsided by everyone. They are doubting her for all the wrong reasons just because they trust their Aunn so much that they can not even imagine him lying to them.

As far as I think, Shehna has backed out of getting married to Manzar & later when she will be questioned, she will give him all the reasons basing on Zara’s current situations that she is herself a witness of, I feel it will be a breaking point of Aunn’s secret mission & Shehna after hearing it from Manzar will pass it on to Zara & then Zara will get hold of the whole situation & finally Aunn after being exposed will beg for forgiveness. I loved how Aunn told Manzar for not becoming his conscience, because deep down he himself knows what he has started but is still blinded by his selfishness. There were a few moments where Aunn gulped in guilt & worried for his mother but still didn’t let it cloud his decisions. I know, privacy is nothing much to ask for but it does come with a huge price tag & here every single person is paying for it.

I think enough of the episodes have been dedicated to what Aunn wants & how he wants it, I feel it’s the right time to move on. I hope what I predicted is right & Zara gets to know from the reliable sources that it is Aunn behind all this chaos. Can’t wait to see those bright smiling faces again & Daadi’s ‘lakh diyan la’antaan’ on her ‘mashoom’ & ‘beeba’ Aunn soon. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.
