The Lawn Fever!!

0

Summers are here and for the next six months or so all we will be wearing would be lawn…the fabric we all love, it is cool and comes in many styles and prints. For the past few years the lawn fever has completely gripped the female population and the competition between the different designers and even the wanna-be designer lawns is getting tougher by the day. Lawn is no longer just any fabric that you wear to feel cooler and more comfortable in the heat of summer but it is more of a fashion statement now. Printed lawn suits are just as expensive as silks and chiffons – the formal wear clothes which we once used to wear only for special occasions or on formal functions. The trend started with only a couple of designers stepping in to design prints for the brands that have existed for so many years now like Gul Ahmed and Alkaram. Gradually the designers figured out that this could prove to be a very lucrative business and now there are more than ten top designers who are taking a very active part in this competition.

Firdous

Every year women wait impatiently for these designer lawns to surface in the outlets and when they are finally launched women run to the outlets as early as possible and even on the first day the suits sell like hot dogs. The passion with which the women go to shop for these fabrics is unmatched; you will never see such enthusiasm for winter clothes. One of the reasons also is that most women want to grab that very first prints and designs that come out because they are very often not repeated and that gives them the opportunity to flaunt for the rest of the season that they have the print that very few people have. There have even been incidents when women actually got into physical fights in order to get a certain print because there were only one or two suits left and there were too many women who wanted it! Talk about too many women chasing after too few lawn prints!

Khaadi

The competition does not end here, lately there is also the competition between the designers as to who manages to bag the best model and many of them had to “import” models from across the border in order to stand out. This time around some of the designers have also hired British models and the latest trend is that Indian designers have also designed some of the prints.

crescent

Are you one of those women who must be at the launch of every new designer Lawn? I know women whose main focus is attending all these launches all through the summer season- something interesting to keep them busy. Collecting the catalogues and of course the most rare prints is another very common “hobby” in summers. No wonder the prices are sky high, which is actually sad too because than most of the people cannot afford to buy the fabric that is worn the most in summers.

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 3 – A New Phase

0

This show is getting better by each passing episode. It has created thousands of fans in mere weeks because of the gripping story and superb acting. We got to see the aftermath of the marriage in this episode and the loss of a wonderful character. Adeel’s mother passed away in this episode on the very next day of her son’s wedding. The scene where Adeel gets tea for his mother and realizes that she is no more was the most heart breaking scene of the episode! Imran Abbas was absolutely superb in this scene. Watching Adeel cry gave me goosebumps!

Adeel’s extremely dislikes Silah at this point and his rude treatment with her clearly reflected it. He still holds a huge grudge against her for forcing him into this unwanted relationship. He is right in his place too. Everybody should get the right to choose their life partner. Nobody paid any heed to his opinion or his choice and he was emotionally blackmailed by his mother into this marriage. He thinks of Silah as a spoiled rich girl who turned out to be extremely selfish. He keeps on taunting her that she got what she wanted and her wish came true as the things turned out just the way she wanted. All his anger on his Chacha and Chachi has also been diverted to Silah and she has turned into a punching bag for him. He leaves no chance to humiliate or taunt her. At his point, I can understand him because his self respect has been bruised by the accusations Silah’s parents had made on him and his mother. He just could not stand anyone disrespecting his mother in anyway. He has also lost the only person who was the most important figure in his life. It will take time but his attitude will slowly improve.

collage 2

I felt extremely bad for Silah in this episode. Her only fault here is that she loved Adeel and wanted to marry him at any cost. She became selfish for a bit and managed to hurt both her parents and Adeel. She is trying her best to be patient and make Adeel happy. She is ready to adjust with him in all kinds of situations. She has always led a very comfortable life but did not say a word when Adeel brought her to their new house whose disheveled state shocked her. She worked the whole day to clean the house and make it worth living and in return she expected a good word from Adeel. But he ignored her efforts and instead starting taunting her! She is trying her best to win his approval but is failing miserably. Adeel went so far as to ask her if she wants to end their relationship! I am pretty sure that Silah will win Adeel’s heart very soon. I hope his cold attitude towards her improves in the next episode.

Safeena and Zamaan leave no chance to humiliate Adeel and his mother. Even after his mother’s death, they were seen bad mouthing them. They still think that it was their plan to trap their daughter and get money out of them. Adeel and Silah leave the house despite Zamaan and Safeena’s disapproval but Silah chooses Adeel over her parents and leaves them heartbroken. They know that Adeel will never be able to give her a comfortable life and warned her not to come back to them when she cannot endure her new life style, as living with Adeel was her choice. One can never be happy after hurting your own parents and that is an established fact.

There were also a few scenes in the episode which managed to bring a smile on my face. The scene where Silah comes back running in the room when she hears sounds outside and complain to Adeel was the best scene of the episode for me! Silah gave the cutest expressions when she innocently asked Adeel if she can sleep inside. Another scene which I found extremely cute was when Silah brought tea for Adeel and he asked her what it was and she said ‘Chai’ with the most innocent expression on her face!

Now coming to the show stealer of this episode! It is hard to choose between Imran and Sanam as both have performed brilliantly in this episode but Imran got an upper hand because of the extremely moving scene in which he cried. Usually male actors are very bad at crying but Imran did a very good job! He managed to beat Sanam just by a small notch!

The preview for the next episode seems very interesting and I am eagerly waiting for its next episode. What will happen to Silah’s father? Will Adeel’s attitude towards Silah finally improve?

Keep watching to find out!

‘Humsafar’ to air on Indian Channel ‘Rishtay’- Public delighted!

0

Every era has its own gem and this one, for sure has ‘Humsafar’ to make itself proud even after decades. Just like we adore ‘Dhoop Kinare’ or ‘Tanhaiyaan’ still, Humsafar  is one of the similar  serials which would be remembered after 50 years from now onwards. These days when the Pakistani showbiz industry is all over loaded with the foreign content, there were people who complained  of the fact that if there is no harm in airing foreign dramas then the Pakistani dramas too, should be aired on channels of countries like Turkey, India and Iran.

It is surprising to find that its Humsafar which is going to be on-air on an Indian channel ‘Rishtay’ evey weekend, that is, every Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 pm. If you notice, this is the same time when it used to be seen in Pakistan, every Saturday, 8pm and the difference of time in between the two countries is half  an hour to be accurate.

humsafar

The news is amazing but not shocking because already it was known that Humsafar had its fans all over the world and Fawad Khan and Mahira are frequently discussed on India-forums (The largest discussion forum of India) where Fawad was also wished on his Birthday. No doubts about the quality of the serial in every sense and it well deserves to earn respect and recognition of this level.

The local audience is over joyed with the news as it has been taken as a symbol of respect that even the Pakistani dramas are no more less than any other drama and in fact, Pakistan has all the potential in every field to meet up the race of the world.

We are delighted with the news, How about you? Share your valuable views,

Once again, Humsafar, we are proud of you <3

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to record songs for Bollywood in Dubai ONLY!

0

Despite of the fact that Pakistani singers are doing a great job in India, it can be easily seen that our singers are still not given the deserving fame and respect in the country. While  Adnan Sami khan is  still not allowed to buy a home in Dehli, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is also on of those singers who  are suffering despite of their endless services in the field of singing.

According to the latest reveals, it has been heard that the Pakistani Singers are unable to record their songs for the movies and projects in India and the issue is creating a serious problem for the singers and the composers who  have either paid or booked them for their movies and tracks. It was also seen that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan landed up with a controversy of smuggling dollars and soon after that it was  noticed that most of the songs are been dubbed in Dubai only.  Recently,Sajid and Wajid  recorded with him in Dubai.

images (2)

It is no less than a disrespect of the Pakistani Singers who are  recording their songs on Skype or via internet because they are either not getting the visa or are experiencing limitations unjustified.

Although they are paid pretty well for a single project in India, our singers need to maintain their respect and importance in the world of music and should take  a stand against such limitations. Share your views about it!

Daagh Episode 19 and 20 – A Huge Loss!

0

The last two weeks had been pretty slow as the story is not progressing. It is pretty much stagnant at this point. Deeba is becoming more demanding day by day and Murad fulfils all her wishes to keep her happy as she is the mother of his ‘sons’. She emotionally blackmails him and he gives in to her demands. He even fulfilled her demand of not bringing Umama back to the house. Murad went to Umama’s house when her father requested him to come but her father soon realized that Murad has no intention to take Umama and her daughters back to his house. This shattered all hopes that Umama had from Murad and she even refused to take his financial help. I absolutely loved the scene when she hands his money back to him and tells him on his face that if you cannot give us shelter, we do not want your money either. Way to go Umama!

Umama has finally decided to move on with her life. She had started studying again and is trying to find a job to support her daughter’s education. Both her father and her sister had been very supporting in all her decisions. And I simply loved the bonding between Umama and her father. He is trying to make up to her for his cold behavior towards her all her life. He even handed over the papers of the house to her to provide her security for the future. But the bonding between them was short lived as he soon passed away. It was heart breaking to see Umama in such a bad condition after her father’s death. Meher Bano has given a very good performance once again. What shocked me was that Murad did not feel an ounce of pity for her and was in no mood to go and sympathize with her on such an occasion. Rehana had to actually force him to go with her to Umama’s house. He still feels insulted because of the way Umama refused the money and treated him. But what about all the insults she had faced so far Murad?

Deeba had crossed all her limits this time! She had the audacity to ask Murad to divorce Umama. I was extremely satisfied to see the way Murad reacted when Deeba told him to give Umama a divorce. He almost raised his hand on Deeba and warned her not to say anything like this again. For a minute I thought he would actually agree to this. Even Aqeela got really angry when her sister and Deeba told her the same thing. Deeba left the house after seeing Murad’s reaction but soon came back when she realized that Murad may go back to Umama.

Murad’s inner turmoil is upsetting him. On one hand, he regrets what he had done to Umama and the kids and on the other hand, his ego refuses to bend. He has also started to miss his daughters a lot and seeing their cold behavior towards him managed to upset him. Well, what else can he expect from them? He rejected them and refused to bring them back to the house. They saw his rude behavior with them and their mother too and have no respect left for him anymore. Rehana was able to talk some sense into him and he is slowly realizing his faults. Will he finally get Umama back to the house?

Aqeela and Rehana both know now that Murad lied to them. He never went to take Umama back but instead went and told her that he cannot take her back to the house. Rehana and Aqeela both feel guilty and helpless as they cannot do anything for Umama. Rehana genuinely wants Umama to get all her rights back but Aqeela has her own selfish reasons for bringing her back to the house. Rehana is the only sensible and mature person in the house. She is one of my favorite characters in this show. Yusra Rizvi has done a wonderful job as Rehana. Fahad Mustafa and Sana Askari have also performed brilliantly yet again!

I really want to see what happens next. Will Umama go back if Murad comes to take her back or will she start her new life just the way she had planned? It will be interesting to watch what happens next.
Keep watching!

Silvatein – Episode 5

0

Ohkay so this whole episode revolved around Natasha. Her wedding, her expectations, her complaints, her mood swings.

The wedding was wrapped up quickly so as to shed more light on the post-marriage issues. Natasha, the moment her day started was not at all happy with how her wedding was coming along. She disliked being getting ready at home & hated that the venue of her wedding was the garden of her own house with a simple menu for the guests. It’s ok, being a bride one does expect a lot & want their wedding to be perfect but what’s the point of nagging about the things which can not be changed?

Natasha was acting all mean & rude. She had no courtest for her wheelchair ridden MIL who was happy for her son’s wedding. Natasha made a fuss about all the things & the funniest scene was the Skype session where every family member was in sync with the jokes they cracked but Natasha was like a fish out of water. Her nagging on tiny bit things totally showed what sort of a spoiled brat she is. Which bride does not know that there are going to be some norms & customs which each & every family celebrates once the new bride steps in their homes? Every bride knows that the wedding day is going to be a long one but Natasha expected that Bilal should have bid good bye to everyone & should’ve spent time with her which was impossible. Actually, she wasn’t happy about Bilal & his job, that’s why she was nitpicking on the smallest details too.

She came out to be as a person who just doesn’t like anything good happening to her as well. First she was jealous of Zeb for getting the proposal of Bilal but when she grabbed it by luck, she got over it ASAP. The way she ran back to her parents & started backbiting about Bilal showed she is one of those lasses who create the mishaps for themselves with their own hands. Her wedding was anything but that which she expressed & felt about it.

Zeb, on her own was dealing with her wedding properly. She was seen quite indulged in all the things that were happening around. Her mother’s discussion with Zeb after the rukhsati was quite overwhelming. She was just sitting there helpless like any other parent who’d feel the same sense of sadness once their daughter leaves their home for good. She was sympathizing with Natasha for no good reason because she didn’t know Natasha is trying to come back to that house once again.

I really am unable to understand what the character of Natasha actually wants out of her life? Does she has some sort of a disease of restlessness or she hates being happy? Let’s see how Zeb’s life would unfold. Another thing that came as a surprise was that Bilal’s elder brother is married however I thought he would be in pair with Zeb, may be the story will turn out to be like it.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai Episode 15 – Entertaining!

It was no surprise that the part we all had been waiting for came at the very end of this latest episode but overall it made for quite an enjoyable affair. Ayesha Omer was brilliant today and Fawad Khan’s expressions were simply flawless, brilliant and very impressive in the last scene in particular. Zaroon is completely smitten and it was written all over his face today. I was really looking forward to everything that Sir Ibrar had to say to Zaroon and the best part had to be the one about values…what a valid question! Sir Ibrar was right in asking Zaroon if he had the values that Kashaf would want in her future husband and Zaroon did not have a good answer to his question but the expressions said it all. Sir Ibrar could probably tell that Zaroon was very sure about what he was doing and that was convincing enough for him. Like always the conversation between the two was an absolute delight to watch, all the verbal exchanges and glances….everything was perfect. So Zaroon considers Kashaf K2 and not Mount Everest, oh well, he will know soon enough!

Kashafosama

Kashaf decided to walk out on Osama by saying “mujhe dair ho rahi hai” and later on told him that she wanted to be just friends with him. Kashaf is so sure that nothing that comes easily to her can bring her happiness. She has always worked hard to earn her share of happiness and she won’t let her “fate” decide this matter for her. Osama’s proposal is perfect in every way, he is a nice man who loves Kashaf and his family does not have any issues with the proposal too but Kashaf is not used to good fortune that comes gift wrapped, therefore she thinks that something will go wrong somewhere only because she did not have to fight a long hard battle to get it. For now marriage is definitely not on the cards for Kashaf because she believes unlike her mother that she is not ready to get married.

sara mum

Ayesha Omer really impressed me with her performance today. Sara realizes that her decision to take divorce was wrong and blames her mother entirely for not guiding her in the right direction. I have to side with Sara on this one because no matter how many issues a married couple is having, parents should try their best to resolve the issues and not aggravate them further. This really should have been Sara’s decision and Ghazala by going out of her way to support her all the time, definitely pumped her up and influenced her decision. Sara and Farhan may not have been the ideal couple but they had been together long enough, therefore Sara finds it difficult to go on without Farhan, now that he has moved on with his life. The way Zaroon comforts his sister and at the same time share things with her about his own life was very nice to watch. We didn’t see Sara crying all the time but the two shared the sibling moments which we all love.

Zaron sara

Many of us already guessed that the rishta that Rafia and kashaf were talking about was actually going to be for Shehnila so no surprises there too. The Kashaf/Zaroon conversation brought a smile to my face like always; Zaroon calling in to see if Kashaf was still using the same number and Kashaf telling him she just might change her number now! The “I think we were just immature” dialogue and Kashaf’s response made me chuckle too. Zaroon will be Zaroon and Kashaf will be Kashaf! Zaroon likes Kashaf’s strength of character, something that he has not seen in many girls around him who would easily fall for his charm.

sir ibrar

I am so glad that Sidrah is back in the picture, the show would have been incomplete without the conversations between the two sisters. Kashaf may not listen to what Sidrah has to say but at least she is someone who tries to knock some sense into Kashaf every chance she gets.

FK

Overall I enjoyed this latest installment . I had great expectations from this episode and I was expecting it to be more about Zaroon and Kashaf but I enjoyed it nevertheless. The Zaroon/Sara scenes were very well done and I definitely enjoyed watching them. The Zaroon/Asmara engagement is officially over, which is good news because it means we will not be seeing Asmara again.  The next episode seems action packed, I am really looking forward to how Zaroon finally manages to climb K2 because the weather conditions and altitude problems may prove to be a greater obstacle than he ever imagined;)

Mirat-ul-Uroos Episode 16 & 17 – Sad Realities!

Let me start by saying that Mirat-ul-Uroos has completely grown on me and it is proving to be a very realistic play which depicts a lot of sad realities that exist in our society in a very apt manner. I am sure all the mothers, grandmothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and most of all the married couples can relate to this play on some level or the other. Another great thing about this play is that there are no black and white characters, all the characters seem like people from real life and although there was a time when Aima’s sermons and Ayza’s nakhras were getting to me but I am totally into the characters now. Everything has fallen into place and the story is moving forward nicely. Like any other Umera Ahmed play the story, dialogues and characters are such that it seems like you are watching someone’s real life on television. The direction was also excellent in both these episodes and the actors gave me no reason to complaint too.

First of all I want to share with you the few things that I really liked in these two episodes in particular and the entire play in general. I really like the way Aima shares everything with her mother. This is something that I generally find odd; the way married girls run to their parents to share everything so that they will sort out their problems. But Aima only shares things with her mother because they have such a special bond with each other; she never expects her mother to find solutions to her problems or even feel sorry for her. I really like Aima’s I-can-handle-everything-that-comes-my-way attitude towards life. Another very cute part of this play has been the relationship between Zain and daadi, the way Askari makes Zain do all her chores and the conversations they have, are very well done and definitely make me go down the memory lane. I am sure children who have been raised in joint families can relate to the relationship between the two. The way Hammad reacted to everything in these episodes was also very nicely done. Ayza did not scheme and plot to turn Hammad against his family but she is just very “open” about whatever she feels and Hammad is too “impressed” by his wife so he gets “convinced” easily. Rafia’s attitude towards Aima and the way Hamnah feels about her is also one of the very sad realities of our society. The bahu who brought more dowry and whose husband runs the house is respected more even if she dictates her terms and conditions to rest of the family members.

Mirat 16

Rafia kept on blaming Aima like the previous episode and she even showed her annoyance with her right on her face. Hashim may be careless and irresponsible but his parents’ attitude also is not helping the situation. Ayza had the guts to call Hashim “biwi ka ghulam”. I could completely relate to the way Amna felt when she heard Hashim and Aima arguing and she asked Aima’s father to give her a car and they also insisted that she should take cash. This is another sad fact of our society, giving your daughter away is not enough; you have to load her with money and goods too.

mirat

How many of you enjoyed Akbari’s “yeh mera akhri wakt hai” scene just because she wanted to convince her son that he should marry Faran with Javeria! These two episodes definitely were a complete package in my eyes, the incidents were very relatable, some of the happenings quite educational and it was engaging at the same time. And not to mention the fact that this play isn’t really about sibling rivalry but more about problems that many parents and married couples face. I am definitely no longer on the fence and looking forward to more.

Azfer Rehman and Armeena Khan to be seen in Happily Married this March!

0

ARY Digital seems motivated for the year 2013 and is coming up with some great shows that are been appreciated by the viewers and adding another name to its list of dramas, a new drama “Happily married” will go on air this March.

What makes this drama worth watching is the appearance of the sizzling Canadian actress Armeena Khan who has been seen working in telefilms and the drama serial “Dolly Aunty ka dream villa”. She has worked with many talented senior actors like Farida Jalal, Shabeer Jan, Sumbul Shahid, etc.

She would now be seen with Azfer Rehman in her  new project and seems excited about it. As revealed, this  serial is based on the common stories of every married couple and would be appreciated  by the audience. As it is, people are loving Azfer Rehman for his current serials and are waiting to have more from his side. The  chemistry between these two celebrity is expected to impress the audience as  both of them are extremely good looking and stylish.

Waiting to hear more about it,

HUM TV or ARY Digital-Who to Win the Race in 2013?

0

It is  difficult to analyse whether it is Hum TV or ARY  Digital that would take up the market this year. Both the channels are known for the quality dramas going on air through their platform and this year, both of them seems to have their strategies clear. It has been lately noticed that Hum TV has come up with some great dramas that are expected to enjoy a good business and ratings like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Humnasheen, Tanhai, etc, while on the other hand, its ARY trying real hard to maintain its pace with serials like Silvatien, Siskiyaan and Parchaiyaan. It is  interesting to find that in this race of winning TRPs, Geo TV and Express entertainment seems no more interested and have decided to follow their own path.

2012 has recently come to an end, leaving the drama industry with some golden stars and again much of them belong to the two channels stated above. Now that people have started loving their own dramas in Pakistan, the channels and production houses are coming up with dramas that let people link to them. Taking a closer look of the strategy been adopted by ARY  and HUM TV this year, it can be  seen that both of them are all set to come up with reality shows, highlighting the talent of Pakistan. ARY, which has always been coming up with such shows like Nach Baliye, madventures and if not local, then the neighboring Big Boss has now again introduced the star talent hunt show, similar to that of Indian Idol, while  Hum TV has also got the Indian reality dance shows to keep your weekends occupied. Moreover, Hum TV’s new efforts of paying a tribute to its hits of last year, Hum TV Awards are again one of the opportunities to bring more popularity to the channel.

It was seen few months back that the foreign content, namely the Turkish Dramas kept the showbiz industry busy with controversies against few channels. Many programs were conducted where  the Pakistani Celebrities condemn the channels for promoting foreign content, leaving the rights and interests of the local artists, neglected. However, it seems like just like the common citizens of the nation, the Celebrities of this country has no say in their domain as the Turkish Dramas are still on air on Geo, It was only Noor previously, but the next Turkish Drama to go on air is leaked through its promo and is known under the label Rafta Rafta. Although Geo is  also offering local dramas like Viraasat, Ghao, Cindrella, etc, the channel has lost its charm in general.

Coming back the two channels that are high in the viewers choice, Hum and ARY are more or less following the same line where same actors are seen on both of the channels. 2013 can be  predicted as a lucky year for Adeel  Hussain, Azfer Rehman, Ayesha Omer, Ayza Khan, Sajjal and Adnan Siddiqui as all of these actors are seen in every next project going on air either on Hum TV or ARY-Good Enough!

Let us wait and watch that which of the two actually wins the race, There is one thing for sure that the audience is loving the the work been produced by the stated channels and want to see more.

Best Wishes

Best and Worst Makeovers of Actors!

0

Makeovers are very important for any actor or actress. They need to keep experimenting with their look to look fresh on screen as people get tired of seeing them in the same look over and over again. Many actors have attempted to change their appearance by changing their hairstyle, hair color, makeup and even weight if the script demands it. The change has suited many people as they are able to carry it but it has even turned into a disaster at times.

Here is a list of people who have been able to look good with the change:

syra

First in my list is Syra Yousuf. She is the popular actress of shows like Mera Naseeb and the recently ended Tanhaiyaan- Naye Silsilay. She has experimented with her hair style and now can been seen sporting short hair and I must say it suits her immensely. The short hairdo is all the rage nowadays but few people are able to carry it. Syra has the most innocent and charming face and this haircut makes her look even younger. (She already looks so young!)

Amina sheikh

Second in my list would be Amna Sheikh. The popular actress who is seen in many hit shows like Main Abdul Qadir Hoon, Daam and Maat as is currently seen in the show, Mirat Ul Uroos. She was also seen with a new hairstyle which suited her a lot. The bangs and the change in her hair color did wonders to her face and her face looked fresher on screen. The bangs suit her a lot because she has a wide forehead and the bangs complement it as they hide it completely.

nadia khan

The third in my list would be Nadia Khan, the actor and the long time morning host. She is back with a bang this year as is seen as a host on Geo TV on weekends. She is now seen sporting a shorter hairstyle which suits her immensely. She has just the right face cut to carry off this hairstyle and she looks even younger now. Everyone has appreciated her new hairstyle so far.

Sarwat Gillani

The fourth in my list is Sarwat Gilani. She is seen in shows like Malaal, Tishnagi and Mata e Jaan and is currently seen in the show Dil e Muzter. I always found her curly looks to be pretty but I was tired of seeing in the same curly hair look. She is now seen in straight hair and usually with plaited hair which suits her a lot. Her straight hair look in Mere Dard Ko Zuban Mile and Mata e Jaan suited her a lot. Her face is petite and the straight hair adds a new dimension to her face. I would love to see her with fringes sometime as I personally think it will suit her a lot. We have already seen her with bangs which complemented her face.

 Saba hameed

The fifth person in my list is Saba Hameed. Saba is seen in shows like Aik Tamanna Lahasil Si, Aks and The Baraat Series. I always thought she needed a makeover as she sported the same look in almost all her serials. But her new look in her currently airing show Dil e Muzter changed my opinion. She has been given a complete makeover which is suiting her a lot. The new hairstyle and cut has decreased at least 10 years from her age. The new hairstyle with the right amount of makeup is making her look extremely young and fresh.

Faisal qureshi

The sixth person in my list would be Faisal Qureshi. Faisal Qureshi is seen in hit shows like Meri Zaat Zara e Benishaan, Qaid e Tanhai and Mere Pehla Pyar. Faisal Qureshi is one actor who keeps on experimenting with his look. He changes his appearance according to what the script demands. He was seen in three completely different looks in his show Meri Unsuni Kahani. I still wonder how he managed to change his weight for each look! He is one dedicated actor.

Here are a few people who looked disastrous with the changes:

sanam baloch

Sanam Baloch who was seen in shows like Dastaan, Akhbari Asghari and Dur e Shahwar would be the first person in my list. Sanam’s hairstyle in her show Kuch Pyaar Ka Pagal Pan Bhi Tha was the worst hairstyle ever! Her beautiful hair was plaited completely into small plaits. It made me wonder how long it must have taken the hairstylist to make so many plaits as Sanam’s hair are pretty long and thick. She even sported fringes in Akhbari Asghari which did suit her but I personally like her more in bangs with her long straight hair. If she really wants to change her hairstyle, she can opt for curls in any of her upcoming serials.

Ayesha Khan

The second in my list is Ayesha Khan. She was seen in serials like Vasl, Kaafir and Maney Na Yeh Dil. Her look in Kaafir did not suit her at all. Her hair color made me cringe and even her clothes in the initial episodes were not suiting her. I would really like to see her in curls in future.

mOHIB

The third actor in my list would be Mohib Mirza. He was seen in shows like Shehr e Zaat and Mere Dard Ko Zuba Mile and is currently seen in Kaash Aisa Ho. His hairstyle in his new show Kaash Aisa Ho is not suiting him at all. When I saw the promo of the show, the first thing which I noticed was his long straightened hair. He has been given this look so that he would look more like the artist he is shown in the serial which is acceptable, but I still do not approve of his hairstyle. Well, this is my personal preference!

Few actors are seen experimenting with their look in fear of being criticized, but it is always pleasant to see actors in a new look from time to time.

Actors Who Prefer Working With A & B Productions

0

I am sure A & B Productions house needs absolutely no introduction. It is one of the biggest production houses in the country which has given us many memorable plays. I am sure many of you have noticed that there are some artists who work excessively with this production house and now whenever I see one of these artists’ upcoming plays promo it does not take much for me to guess that this must be a play from A & B Productions. Also, many of the plays from this production house follow more or less the same pattern, they start off on a very interesting note but gradually the story loses focus and it becomes tedious to sit through most of the plays. But one cannot ignore the fact that A & B productions has also given us some very outstanding plays like Qaid-e-Tanhai, Roag, Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon , Aik Nayee Cinderella and many others. Anyway, since this article is about actors who like to work with A & B productions, I am going to talk about actors who have been associated with A & B productions for a very long time and they somehow prefer working with this production house.

Faisal Qureshi:

Faisal Qureshi has worked with Babar Javed a lot even before he started his own production house. He acted in many dramas which were directed by Babar Javed and I think that is why the two have a strong bond and we see Faisal Qureshi in many A & B productions’ plays whether they are serious ones or comedies. The list of A & B dramas he has worked in is almost never-ending but to mention a few; Roag, Qaid-e-Tanhai, Yariyan, Tishnagi, Mera Yakeen, Kis Din Mera Viyah Howega, Sabz Pari laal Kabooter, Jahez, Topi Drama, Ek Hatheli pe Hina Ek Hatheli Pe Lahu, Mera Pehla Pyaar …well like I said the list is never-ending. I think Faisal Qureshi prefers working with one production house more than many because before he started working excessively with      A & B productions , he used to work for Evernew Studios a lot.

aDHOORI

Faisal Qureshi of course is a very talented actor and a true asset for our industry and A & B Productions has given him some very good characters to play too. His upcoming plays “Adhoori Aurat” and “Virasat” have been produced by A & B too.

VIRASAT FQ

Sami Khan:

Sami Khan is another actor who is fast becoming the face of A & B Productions; even right now he is acting in three different dramas produced by A & B Productions namely Teri Rah Mei Rul Gaye, Ghao and Mei Gunahagar Nahi. Previously also he has worked in many A & B projects and has given some very good performances. His next venture “Harjaye” and “Meri Dulari” are from the same production house too.

SAMISABASamiyaSABA H

Saba Qamar:

Saba Qamar may not have worked in as many A & B dramas as Sami Khan and Faisal Qureshi but I have a feeling that she will be seen in A & B productions very often now too. She has been part of many A & B ventures like Jo Chalay Tu Jaan Se Guzar Gaye, Mein Chand Si, Thakan, Kash Aisa Ho. The good thing about Saba Qamar is that she keeps on working with other production houses as well quite often.

Samiya Mumtaz:

Samiya Mumtaz is one of those actresses who are very choosy about their roles and therefore we do not get to see her on-screen often enough. Most of Samiya’s work on television has been with A & B productions and even right now the only drama she is acting in is from A & B productions. It seems like artists who do not work very often too prefer A & B productions over other production houses. What can be the reason for that?

 Meri Dulari

Saba Hameed:

Saba Hameed is very talented but not only is she seen in many A & B productions dramas lately but also seems to be opting for the same kind of roles over and over again even if she is working with some other production house. The list of A & B plays that Saba has worked in is long too, some of them which were very popular are Qaid-e-Tanhai, Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon, Kaala Jadoo, Aks and Ek Naye Cinderella. We will be seeing Saba Hameed in “Meri Dulari” next, which is also a drama by A & B Productions.

Yumna Zaidi:

Yumna Zaidi is another very talented, young, budding artist who started her career with A & B productions and has since then worked in many of their dramas. Her most recent project is with the same production house too. She acted in Thakan, Khushi Aik Roag and now we will see her in “Meri Dulari” very soon, another serial by the same production house.

Virasat

Savera Nadeem:

I must say that most of the actors who prefer working with A & B productions are very gifted and Savera Nadeem is another name on the list. Savera Nadeem is very selective about her work and that is the reason we don’t see her on-screen very often. For the past few years now we have seen Savera Nadeem working in A & B productions serials more than any other. She worked in Qaid-e-Tanhai, Mera Saeein, Diya Jaley, Mera Yakeen and a few other plays from the same production house and her next project “Virasat” is an A & B productions play too.

 kala jadoo

There are many other actors who we are seeing in A & B production plays often enough now like Mohib Mirza, Ayza Khan, Aijaz Aslam, Shahood Alvi, Nimra Bucha and Waseem Abbas.A & B productions house is undoubtedly one of the biggest production houses in the country which is working hard day and night to give us good quality dramas. Maybe this could be the reason why these artists prefer working with this production house. Can you think of any actors who prefer working with A & B productions, the faces that instantly make you guess that this must be an A & B production play?

Budget Constraint: The Reason for Dramas Not Being Shot Abroad?

0

There was a time when every other drama was being shot abroad. It had become a trend which was started by Momina Duraid Production on Hum TV and followed by different production houses which aired their shows on channels like ARY Digital and Geo TV. But now we rarely see shows that are being shot abroad. Are the economical conditions the reason for shows no longer being shot abroad? Well, that’s what I think. Producers are seen cutting down on budget by shooting shows in the local areas. The reason is that the actors and directors have increased their fees; an OST has become a must, and there a thousand other things that increases the cost of a show. Inflation has doubled in the past decade which has also led to the shrinking of the budget.

The list is very long but here are some of the popular shows that had been shot abroad:

Vasl: Vasl is one of the popular dramas of Hum TV that had been shot abroad. It was shot primarily in Panama City, Florida. We got to see some beautiful scenes like the ones on the white sand beaches. It features stars like Ayesha Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, Faisal Rehman, Imran Abbas and Tooba Siddiqui. The story revolves around a woman who goes through several tough stages of life, where different men come in her life, and try to mold her life according to them without paying heed to her wishes.

Manay Na Yeh Dil: Manay Na Yeh Dil is another popular show of Hum TV. It has stars like Ayesha Khan, Faisal Qureshi and Faisal Rehman as the leads. It had a different story which the audiences thoroughly enjoyed. Half of this serial was shot in Australia in eye catching locations. It is a beautiful love story revolving around a couple who meet and get separated and then life makes them confront each other yet again.

Malaal: Another hit show shot in the beautiful city of New York. It was shot during the winters so we did not get to see much other than snow but overall the places where the scenes were shot looked beautiful. We saw a lot of scenes with the subways and central parks. It was directed by Mehreen Jabbar and the cast included Deepti, Faisal Rehman, Imran Abbas, and Sarwat Gillani. The story, direction, screenplay and acting were all brilliant and this show was one of the hits of 2010. The story revolves around a man who leaves the one woman who loves him the most and ends up getting married to a young, immature girl due to family pressures.

Ishq Junoon Deewangi: Ishq Junoon Deewangi was shot in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. Cape Town is one of the prettiest cities and we got to see some very beautiful locations. It has stars like Humayun Saeed, Umaima Abbasi, Deepti and Adnan Siddiqui. The place where Humayun sees Umaima for the first time was a natural scenic beauty and a treat for the eye. It was another hit story which won the hearts of the viewers. The story revolved around a man whose dream turns into an obsession and makes him completely oblivious to his loving wife and he ends up destroying his marriage.

ishq junoonparsaMein abdul qadir hoon

Qaid e Tanhai: Another beautiful show shot abroad. Its stars celebrities like Faisal Qureshi and Sawera Nadeem as the leads. The story revolves around a man who leaves his family to go abroad and earn and the hardships that he and his wife faces due to the separation. It is written by Umera Ahmad and beautifully directed by Babar Javed.

Main Abdul Qadir Hoon: Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon is a unique story of a boy with a heart of gold whose life goes through many twists and turns because of people around him trying to influence him. It is the story of a journey of self discovery of a man. Few of its episodes were shot in Turkey and I must say all the scenes were beautiful. Turkey is one of the most beautiful places for me. It stars Fahad Mustafa, Amna Sheikh and Alishba Yousuf as the leads. Fahad Mustafa has given one of his best performances in this drama.

Parsa: Another show dramatized abroad. We got to see beautiful outdoor locations in this show especially the lavish houses in which the show was shot in. This show stars Ayesha Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, and Ahsan Khan. It is based on a love story of a Muslim girl and a Christian boy who faces a lot of problems in the future due to their differences in religion.

The Ghost: This show is written by Umera Ahmed. It was shot in the beautiful backdrop of Scotland. I think it was the first time a show was shot in Scotland and all the places shown were just beautiful. The old traditional brick buildings of Scotland were definitely a treat for the eye. It stars Faisal Qureshi, Sania Saeed and Samira Peerzada.

ghost

Neeyat: Neeyat is another show shot in the beautiful city of New York. Mehreen Jabbar has directed the show in brilliant locations that leaves you in awe of the scenes. The sky scrapper buildings, time square, central parks and the subways all are beautifully shown in the serial. The cast includes Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Ahsan Khan, and Deepti.

Mata e Jaan: Mata e Jaan was the last serial of Hum TV which was shot abroad. It was shot primarily in New York. The story revolves around a couple Haniya and Ibad who meet while studying in the same university abroad. They fall in love and get married despite Ibad’s family disapproval. I especially loved the beautiful places where Haniya and Ibad visited after their marriage.

mata e jaanNeeyat

I do not mind dramas being shot in our own country as Pakistan itself is very beautiful. But it is always refreshing to see different locations in dramas. I really hope to see more dramas being dramatized abroad as it is always pleasant to watch the scenes enacted in beautiful locations.

Kahi Unkahi Episode 18 – Good One!

0

So this episode was for sure the best one for me so far. I felt the direction was spot on & a few dialogues were perfect to the extent of being realistic. I enjoyed the whole episode a lot more than the previous one.

Firstly, we got to see what we all waited for. Anam approaching Sherry & getting insulted by him. I, once again, kept on wondering that how come she could barge into his home unannounced & trying to get in a talk with him where she knows he is clearly not interested in her any more or wasn’t even interested since day one. Her accident, seemed like a scene from Indian movie as well but was fitting in the place really well. At some point, seeing her crying made me feel bad for her because it’s not her fault for the way she has turned out to be. Her parents should be blamed completely for not only spoiling their daughter but their son to the core as well.

Sherry was once again trying to come over with the whole issue but Shahzeb played his bit of a role. Even though, Zoya’s friend Zainee started ignoring her after finding out her reality but she always felt for her & was considerate enough to inquire about Zoya once she left the college. Zainee is again different from her sister Ayza who is nothing but a make up clad stooge of Anam. I couldn’t understand why Shahzeb was beating around the bush all the time? Why was he taking so long to tell Sherry what actually happened & WHY Zoya came to his place that day? I thought finally he has taken a good step but failed miserably without clearing off any accusation that surround Zoya right now.

All this while I was thinking when did Zeeshan become such a brother to Anam & started acting like one? He was never seen interested in any of her things & was always on his own trip but just because he can not touch Ansar for his rudeness, he is trying to use Sherry as an excuse to pressurize Ansar as well.

The highlight of the whole episode for me was the conversation of Mariam & Ansar. Ansar who acted like a rigid man with a facade of being too manly, broke into pieces just because of a normal staff girl. He actually wanted someone to hold his hand & pull him out of his misery & Mariam stepped in at the right time. All her dialogues were written to perfection & the acting was flawless too, she was shattered but held herself together just for the sake of her husband & their marriage. I loved when she said that people act being pious but deep down they are anything but that. The way she suggested him of being afraid of Allah came as something unexpected because in most of the dramas people just do not give such reasoning when facing a trauma but this caught me by a pleasant surprise. Her suggestion of apologizing was spot on too & now in the preview of upcoming episode we saw Ansar breaking down completely in front of Sherry. Finally showing that Mariam has made her place in Ansar’s heart & has saved him.

I thought it was only Anam who framed Zoya with the help of her friend Ayza but now it got a bit more clear that Ansar & may be his father, from Sherry’s family were involved in this game plan too. I absolutely enjoyed watching this episode the most because so much was going on but each & everything was covered properly & highlighted perfectly. Can’t wait for the next one but I hate to see this drama coming to an end in may be a couple of next episodes.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Politics based Chambaili to be the next blockbuster film of Pakistan!

0

Despite of the worse political conditions within the country, Pakistan’s media industry seems determined to spread the ideologies of the real politics as it has recently been revealed that a high budget Urdu Movie, Chambaili is now all ready for its release. The movie focuses on different aspects of the political world and is assumed to do a great business just like previous Pakistani movies, namely, Khuda k Liye, Bol, Lamha-Seedling, etc.

The movie is been directed by a renowned director Ismail Jilani and comes under the join production of 7th Sky Films and Couple Films, where  the major producers are Abdullah Kadwani and  Shahzad Nawaz. The better the investment, more are the chances that the project would generate a good revenue, and to make this true, there would be seen prominent actors in the movie.

488061_536409266379209_570283193_n-300x227

It is interesting to find that although the movie seems to get its inspiration from the home country, no country or culture is been targeted in the movie, whereas the policies of the political world are discussed in general- interesting, isn’t it?

The big budget Urdu film is a political feature film that is centred on several themes and will include a mix of veteran and prominent actors. It is a collaborative production by Abdullah Kadwani and Shahzad Nawaz under the banners 7th Sky Films and Couple Films, and has been directed by Ismail Jilani.

chambaili

Although the music is still uncommon among the audience, its OST is enough to give an idea about how solid the music of the movie would be, in simple words. Apart from the typical songs, there is also a qawali in the film, making it more close to the hearts of the people of Pakistan

The cast of the movie is something that would probably drag the audience to the cinema houses because the actors like Mehreen Syed, Salman Peerzada, Hamza Abbasi and  Nawaz are the celebrities who would display their acting skills the way the audience always wanted to see.

Lets see how far the project goes,

Long Running Shows: The Reason!

0

There are always a few shows that are on air that makes you wonder ‘who watches these shows?’ They have stories that make absolutely no sense, the acting is awful and they have nothing new to offer but they still run for years. Why?

It is because it is watched by masses. I once spoke to a senior representative of Geo TV and the first question I asked him was about the long running show, Yeh Zindagi Hai. Why is it still on air? Who watches this pathetic show and the answer I got from him is ‘Masses’. He explained that we cannot count ourselves as a part of the masses as the majority of the people in Pakistan are still illiterate or semi literate. The lower class families like to watch these kinds of shows and surprisingly, Yeh Zindagi Hai is one of the highest watched dramas of Geo TV. If it was a show which was not giving good ratings then it would have been pulled off air long ago. It does not seem like they have any intention to end the show anytime soon as it increases the viewership of their channel.

Yeh Zindagi Hai started in the year 2008 and aired its 237th episode last week! That’s a lot of episodes!! Its story revolves around two sisters from a middle class family and the problems they face in their lives. That is how the story started but now they have shown a second generation just like a typical Indian drama! The cast includes Javeria Saud, Saud, Alyy khan, Sahir Lodhi, Salma Zafar, Parveen Akbar and many more. Many actors have done roles in this show in the past 6 years like Behroz Sabzwani, Beenish Chauhan, Momal Sheikh, Shehroze Sabzwari, and Hina Dilpazeer.

bulbulay

Bulbulay is another show which has been running for a long time. It is one of the few sitcoms that have gained immense popularity. Usually comedy shows of Pakistan fail to leave the audiences impressed as the script as well as the acting is not up to the mark. Bulbulay is the only long running sitcoms of Pakistan and has been airing since 2009. It initially starred Nabeel, Ayesha Omer and Mehmood Aslam. Hina Dilpazeer later joined the cast and is famous for her character Momo. I personally see Bulbulay for the character of Momo, she is the highlight of the show for me. Why is the show still running? It is because it is liked and watched by masses. People of all ages watch this show and it is one of the highest rated dramas of ARY Digital.

Another drama which ran for years was Tere Pehlu Mein. It started in 2006 an ended in 2011. It was not a bad show in the beginning but the story was ruined when it was dragged for so long. This show had a complete Indian look as it aired at the time when Pakistan had started to copy Indian shows. That was a phase that came and went by and the originality of Pakistani shows was restored. A big Thanks to Hum TV for that as it was the only channel that did not let its shows be affected by Indian dramas. The cast of this show included Sara Chaudhary, Sami Khan, Deeba Begum, Jamal Shah, Laila Zuberi, and Navaid Rana. The reason why it aired for so long is the same reason that I have mentioned above. It was giving good rating to the channel as it was liked and watched by many people.

kaash mein teri

Kaash Mein Teri Beti Na Hoti is another serial which ran for about a whole year. It started in 2011 and ended in 2012 and aired around 210+ episodes. Kaash Mein Teri Beti Na Hoti looked like a very promising show and it did not disappoint us in the beginning but it did become boring when it started to get dragged. I still remember when I saw the promos, I was intrigued and did watch the initial episodes. The cast includes Fatima Effendi, Danish Tehmoor, Shahid Naqvi, Javeria Abbasi, Salma Zafar, Saleem Mairaj, Ismat Zaidi. Fatima Effendi gave her best performance in this show and it was the first time I actually appreciated her as an actress. Saleem Mairaj was also brilliant in this show. He is a very versatile actor and can do all kinds of roles. It was another highest rated daily soap of Geo TV.

If we get to see shows like Yeh Zindagi Hai and Kaash Mein Teri Beti Na Hoti then we also get to see quality dramas like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Maat, Humsafar, Daam and Dastaan . There will always be some drama that would seem a waste of time for many of us but there will be many viewers who would be watching it daily. Its a weird fact but it is true!

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 18 – Roman is back!

The show is nearing towards its end now. We saw the second last episode this week. We got to see a lot of different genres in this one show; first we saw comedy and romance then the show turned a little serious and we saw sorrow and gloominess and now it has turned into a thriller with lots of suspense to keep the viewers hooked. Every week we see something new which manages to shock us. This week we saw what a weak character Mayer is. At first, I thought he acted the way he did because he was rich and spoiled. But now we got to see a side of him which was very shocking. Mayer gets trapped when he overhears Shah Baba revealing his true intentions of getting Meesha married to Farjad. He now knows Meesha has no relation with Shah Baba and he brought her to Shahabad to trap her. Now Mayer wants Meesha to get married to Farjad so that he can go home safely. The way he was pleading with Shah Baba to let him go was just pathetic. He just does not care about Meesha and what Shah Baba would do to her. He is not even trying to help her and instead he is following all the orders given by Shah Baba. How pathetic! Mayer is the biggest disappointment in this show for me.

Roman has finally arrived to save Meesha from Shah Baba’s clutches. He pretended to be a close friend of Farjad and managed to convince Shah Baba that he knows where Farjad is and he can help him to bring Farjad back. The scene where Roman convinces Shah Baba that he knows where Farjad is hiding cracked me up big time! Roman is the true savior of Meesha. I also liked the scene when Meesha is crying and Roman comes and gives her his shoulder to cry on. Meesha soon realizes that she is supposed to be angry at him and becomes rude to him again and tells him that she does not need him anymore. It was obvious that she is tired of being angry at him now. She only starts listening to him when he says that her Dado has sent him.

Roman finally reveals the truth and tells Meesha about her parents and how Shah Baba killed them. The whole episode was based on how Meesha slowly starts to realize that all is not what it seems like. There is something fishy and upon investigating she gets clues in the form of a prisoner who used to be her caretaker when she was a kid. The past few episodes were full of suspense. It felt like I was watching a mystery show and all the mysteries were slowly being uncovered one by one.

The preview for the next episode seems very scary. Shah Baba is desperate to get his son married to Meesha and since Roman lied to him and he does not see Farjad coming back home anytime soon, he decides to get married to Meesha himself! I really did not expect anything like this. I have full faith in Roman and I know he will save Meesha from Shah Baba’s evil plans. But it would be interesting to watch how he does it!

Haissam Hussain has done a wonderful job and has made this show a masterpiece. All the beautiful locations and costumes never cease to amaze me. The scenic beauty, the mountains and the greenery are a treat for the eye. Maya Ali and Faizan Khwaja were the stars of this episode. I am really looking forward to its last episode. We can expect a lot of drama and suspense in the last episode.

Do not miss the last episode guys!

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 6 – A New Entry!

0

The pace of this show has become steady now. Initially, it was very fast paced. We got to see the entry of a new character played by Sana Askari in this episode. She plays the role of Maleeha who is a spoiled, rich girl and likes to flaunt her money and order people around. Well, she found the perfect match in Shayan. Shayan is an extremely rude and outspoken guy and gives Maleeha the cold treatment. The scene where they first meet was brilliantly executed and the other scenes between them were just as entertaining. They started off on a bad note but it did not take much time for Maleeha to start appreciating Shayan’s talent. She tried to be polite to him but his attitude towards her never improved. The scene where she comes to him when he is painting and he clearly tells her that she is disturbing him cracked me up! Maleeha wanted him to make her sketch but he blatantly refused and she went and complained to her father about Shayan’s behavior towards her. Just what you can expect from a spoiled, rich girl!

Shayan finally agreed to accept the job offer from Adeel Farooqui when he saw Irfa upset because of Mahjabeen’s taunts. Irfa wants to see Shayan becoming successful in his life and hates it when people talk about his joblessness. She tells Shayan that she has dreamed a lot on his behalf. She wants Shayan to reach the heights of success. I loved this dialogue spoken by Irfa ‘Mein Chahti hun ke Shayan ka naam Irfa ka guroor ban jaye’. She badly wants to see him making a name for himself as a renowned painter. Shayan also compromised for her and agreed to sell his painting to Adeel Farooqui who will sell the painting in his art gallery with his own signature, the one thing Shayan was completely against. This shows how much he loves and cares about Irfa. All their conversations in this episode were very heartwarming to watch. I love the way Irfa cares about him; she can do absolutely anything to make Shayan happy.

Now we know why Maleeha or Millie acts the way she does. She has been through a lot in her life which has made her stubborn and spoiled. I could not help but feel bad for her when her father Adeel Farooqui was narrating the incidents that occurred in Millie’s life to Shayan. He wanted Shayan to understand how sensitive she was and how upset she gets on petty things. I have a feeling Shayan has started to like Millie. His comments on her looks were evident of this fact as Shayan is a person who appreciates beauty and it holds a very special place in his life. On top of that, he did not answer Millie when she asked if he was married or not. Why did he not tell her about Irfa? Millie wanted to see her wife as she wanted to know what an artist like him has chosen for himself. I had this strong feeling that Shayan was ashamed to introduce Irfa as his wife. I remember this conversation between Irfa and Shayan when he asked her if she would be jealous if girls run after him and in reply Irfa told him that I would not be jealous if girls run after you but I will be jealous if you run after any girl and when she asked him to deny this, he said he was not sure himself about this then how can he say no! I could not help but feel bad for Irfa!

I felt that Mahjabeen-Shayan scene was not needed. Shayan excused his behavior in his own style. He told her that they would not have been happy together as they want different things from life. I do not think Shayan needed to give Mahjabeen any explanations as she had left him first and used him as a substitute when her engagement broke off.

Sana Askari is seen in the same kind of role once again. I am personally tired of watching her in the same kind of role. Mohib Mirza and Saba Qamar were at their best!

Keep watching this wonderful show!

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 2 – Keeping Me Hooked!

0

This is what I call a full package! This show has a brilliant cast, superb direction, an outstanding screenplay and lastly beautiful background music. This show keeps you on the edge of your seat because of the emotionally loaded scenes, the smooth pace, the twists and turns and the mind blowing acting. Every actor in this show so far has done a wonderful job.

We finally got to see everyone’s reaction when Silah announced that she wants to marry Adeel. Adeel and her mother were shocked and taken aback as both could not have even imagined of such a thing. Safeena, Zamaan and the rest were shocked, upset and angry all at the same time. As predicted they blamed Zehra and Adeel for trapping their daughter to make their conditions better. Adeel blatantly rejected Silah and announced that he would never marry her. He was extremely angry at Silah’s foolishness and it is evident that he dislikes her immensely now.

Adeel was blamed yet again when Silah left her home. He looked for her far and wide to get her home safely and remove the accusations that Safeena and Zamaan had blamed him off. He was successful in finding her and took her home immediately just in time to see Muneeb insulting his mother and he gave Muneeb the slap he rightfully deserved. Adeel’s one weakness is his mother and he could not stand anyone misbehaving with her. I had a huge grin on my face when he slapped him! Imran Abbas was the star of this episode!

The Silah leaving home fiasco led to Adeel and Silah’s Nikkah. Zehra coerced Adeel by emotionally blackmailing him and he did the Nikkah just to make his mother happy. According to Adeel ‘He cannot live with an emotional girl like Silah’ and every time he sees her he will remember the humiliation he suffered at the hands of her parents. Silah, on the other hand, was ecstatic as her wish was finally coming true. Silah should have atleast asked Adeel about his opinion. It was a very selfish and immature decision of her to announce her liking for Adeel and expect everyone to agree wholeheartedly and on top of that, leave the house without telling anyone. She should have thought about Adeel and his mother as they would be the first ones to be blamed for her sudden disappearance. Adeel agreed to the Nikkah to make Zehra happy but he is no mood to accept Silah anytime soon.

Silah has no idea what she has signed up for. Adeel hates her and she is no more than a burden for him at this point. She crushed the one thing that he was proud of; his self respect. He is in no mood to forgive her and a rough time is ahead of her as his treatment of her will be very bad initially. How will Silah win Adeel’s heart? It will be interesting to watch the upcoming episodes. It seems like Adeel and Silah will move out of her house and Zamaan and Safeena will disown them.

I would like to specially mention the lyrics of the OST which was spoken by Imran Abbas himself.

Dil e Muzter ko samjhaya bohot hai
Magar is dil nay tarpaaya bohot hai
Qayamat hai ye tark e arzoo bhi
Mujhe aksar wo yaad aya bohot hai
Magar is dil nay tarpaya bohot hai

dil e muzter 1

Hearing some of these beautiful lyrics in Imran Abbas’s voice made my day. It was played in the background during the emotionally charged scene when Adeel finds Silah and he looks at her with hate and anger in his eyes while Silah looks at him lovingly. They had no dialogues but their expressions were enough to show their emotional turmoil. It was one of the best scenes of the episode for me! Sanam Jung is doing a great job as Silah. She has not disappointed me so far. I hope her performance will not disappoint me in the future either. Imran Abbas is perfect for the role of Adeel as he depicts all his emotions very well. His expressions in today’s episode were too good!

Keep watching the show! A lot of things are coming up!

The showbiz industry is unique, people can surely do anything to earn fame and follower-ship and a good example of it is Ali Saleem. The very talented Ali who is known for his endless talent in the field of acting and hosting started his career with a program where he acted like a political leader, Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) and earned a great deal of appreciation for this impersonation . Soon after that Ali Saleem re-launched himself as Begum Nawazish Ali and hosted a talk show on a private channel. He was then seen in Big Boss Season 4 , with Veena Malik in the same avatar.

Preconceived Notions of Audiences of the Television Industry

0

Audiences of our Television industry have grown in the past decades. Pakistani shows are not only watched in Pakistan but by Pakistanis and other nationalities living all over the world. They have won everyone’s heart because of their quality story, beautiful direction and realistic acting. But as they became more popular many preconceived or stereotypical notions developed among the audiences. These notions are infectious and they spread among the audiences like wild fire. They change the mindset of many people who had not even thought about them before. Here are a few preconceived notions of our audiences:

Any novel based show is a must watch!

Audiences have become biased when it comes to watching shows. One of the top categories for watching a show is that it should be written by popular novelist like Umera Ahmed, Faiza Iftikhar, Farhat Ishtiaq, Razia Butt who have given us popular shows like Humsafar, Shehr e Zaat, Dastaan, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Meri Zaat Zarre Benishan, Najia, Saiqa, Aik Nayee Cinderella, Haroon Toh Piya Teri and the list goes on. It is true that novel based dramas are good and people have high expectations from them but most of the time, the script of the drama is very different from the actual novel which disappoints the audiences and they complain about it. If only they would stop expecting from novel adopted dramas and give new writers a chance then the viewership of many other shows would increase.

Once a hit always a hit!

Another common belief among the audiences is that once an actor/director gives a hit, they are supposed to give hits all the time. It is normal for the expectations of the audiences to rise after a show becomes a hit but they need to understand that hits and misses are common in our industry. You cannot expect directors/actors to give one hit after the other. If some shows are brilliant, the others may not be able to match up to that standard. One of the examples would be of the popular director Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, the expectations from him rose to a very high level after his blockbuster show Humsafar, he was immensely praised for his work and was tagged as one of the best directors in the industry but as soon as people saw the show Ashk which was also directed by him, the tag went down the drain and apparently he was a huge disappointment! Another example would be of Haissam Hussain, audiences could not stop praising him for his brilliant direction in Dastaan but as soon as they saw Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan Bhi Tha, he was highly criticized for his work. The audiences need to understand that a show consists of many elements like story, screenplay, acting, direction and last but not the least good editing. All these factors combine together to make a good show and one person is not responsible for a show being a hit or a flop. To expect them to give one hit after the other only manages to pressurize them and they go as far as disowning their flop shows as with the case of Sarmat Khoosat who refuses to talk about any of his flop shows (especially Ashk).

The shows with the clichéd story lines are the worst!

Another preconceived notion of many audiences is that shows based on the concept of step-mothers, evil mother–in-laws and second marriages are just not worth their time. When they see the promos, the only thing that comes to their mind is ‘Oh God… not the same story again’ but the amusing part here is that the shows with such clichéd concepts are highest rated dramas. We get to hear a lot of criticism and complain from the audiences in the beginning but these are the people who eventually watch it too! This is what we call hypocrisy! The recently aired show Aik Tamanna Lahasil Si which was based on the concept of evil mother-in-law was one of the highest rated dramas during its airing time. Other examples include Mera Yaqeen and the currently popular show Daagh; both are based on the concept of second marriages. Audiences complain that the shows are too depressing for their taste, but they are the ones who watch it and increase the ratings. The reason why we get to see the same concepts over and over again is because it is liked and watched by the masses.

Oh it’s a Momina Duraid Production; I will watch it for sure!

Another common practice among the audiences is to judge shows by their production houses. I agree that Momina Duraid, A & B productions and Humayun Saeed production houses are the best production houses in our industry but they are not the only production houses. These three production houses rule the industry with an iron fist and people prefer to see shows from these production houses only. The reason why they attracted so many viewers is because of the quality of shows they offered. However, new production houses with good quality shows are emerging to compete with these popular banners. One of the emerging production houses is Natak Entertainment, Producers of the show Ghaao which is currently airing on Geo TV. This production house definitely has a future!

A big NO for any other channel except Hum TV, ARY and Geo TV

Another preconceived notion of our audiences is that quality dramas are only offered by these three channels. If someone had asked me this question a few years ago, I would have agreed wholeheartedly but now many other channels have emerged who have much to offer to the audiences. The new emerging channels are Aplus and Express entertainment. Aplus is offering quality dramas such as Barf and Koyla Hogai Main while express is offering shows like Talkhiyaan, Tishnagi and Sirat e Mustaqeem. Even PTV has improved a lot in past few years and is offering quality shows, but few people watch it as they have created a mindset of their own. All we need to do is change our mindset! Gone are the days when these three channels ruled the Television industry…

Rare Snaps from the Set of Talkhiyaan!

The private channels have given a boost to the new projects, keeping the audience entertained with something or the other. These days it seems like Sanam Saeed is enjoying a great time in her career and no doubt, she deserves that equally. Though her acting is much popular for her current drama Zindagi Gulzar hai, her another drama which is been aired on Express entertainment, Talkhiyan is also one of her magnificent pieces of work. Here are the few random snaps from the set of Talkhiyan, Have a look!

Zindagi Gulzar Hai Episode 14 – Zaroon Grow Up!

Today’s episode reminded me of the few Kashaf/Zaroon interaction scenes from college since there was absolutely no change in Zaroon’s behavior towards Kashaf and Kashaf’s behavior towards Zaroon remained the same too. Kashaf’s attitude towards Zaroon was quite justified but watching Zaroon resort to the same old tactics was actually quite disappointing and somewhat annoying! Has he forgotten that he is engaged? He expects Asmara to change her ways because she is engaged to him now but he obviously feels that the same rule does not apply to him. I could not help but wonder what Zaroon meant when he said that Kashaf had changed. She was always confident and distant just like she is now. Was Zaroon talking about her appearance? It was actually nice to see Kashaf snub Zaroon when he talked to her right in the beginning of the episode since that was more in line with Kashaf’s character than Kashaf’s behavior in the brief scene at the end of the last episode.

ZGH6

Kashaf has to be the only girl in Zaroon’s life who did not fall for his charm immediately (remember the one week deadline) and that could possibly be the reason why Zaroon finds it impossible to let go of her. After Zaroon and Kashaf’s meeting I really missed Sidrah and was delighted to see Kashaf having a conversation with Sidrah later on. I am glad that Sidrah is still in the picture because Kashaf’s conversations with her give us more of an insight into what is going on in Kashaf’s head than anything else.

This episode proved further that Murtaza is void of all feelings and is easily allured by whatever works for his benefit. His attitude towards his second wife and son has greatly changed and so has his behavior towards Rafia. I was hoping that Murtaza would have realized that he was wrong but I think that he is only being nice to Rafia because of Kashaf’s new status.

dinner

Osama and Kashaf have grown into good friends since they have been in touch with each other all these years. I was as surprised as Zaroon when Osama told him that he was in touch with Kashaf because no one mentioned it before this, not even Kashaf while talking to her sisters or writing her diary. It was somewhat surprising that Osama decided to propose Kashaf even after his conversation with Zaroon. But I must give the guy credit, he has guts! I am waiting to find out how Kashaf will respond since there was talk of a proposal in the next episode’s promo. I remember Kashaf was very happy for Sidrah when she got married and thought that her husband was a nice man, since Kashaf has known Osama for so long she should know that he has the “character” she has been looking for in a man. I see absolutely no reason for her to reject this proposal but I wonder what is going to happen if she decides to consider it.

zaroon

I am sure that other people have also noticed that the background music can be extremely strange (somewhat cartoonish) sometimes especially in scenes with Zaroon in them. Fawad Khan was absolutely brilliant in today’s episode, his body language and dialogue delivery could not have been better. This latest episode gave me something to look forward to and I can’t wait to find out how the story unfolds now.

Silvatein Episode 4 – Get Over With Confusions Please

0

Once again the whole episode kept on stirring the confusions in each & every matter. All this while, it was actually getting on my nerves that why things couldn’t go easy & smooth? Why each & every member of the family was weaving something on their own & feeding it to others. I know, it looked interesting at first, but now it’s nothing less than a mind-teaser.

Natasha, finally got what she deserved. Grabbed Bilal from her sister, when understood that Zeb let go off him, she lost interest in him. Found out about his side job & dependence on his elder brother, she again lost interest in him because now she knows that her ex-bf is going to be well-settled in Nairobi. Like her mother said, that Natasha always wanted what Zeb got, but the moment Zeb gave it to her, she lost interest & now if we look at it, the same thing happened with Bilal’s proposal as well. She was frowning & mentioned in front of Yawar that Zeb has gotten such a nice proposal but when Zeb passed it on to her, she was happy but now she is not. This was the only reason, she was trying to convince her mother to reject the proposal & tried to tell her that she doesn’t want to get married to Bilal using Zeb as an excuse but she wasn’t actually feeling for Zeb, in stead, she was just doing what she is used to, rejecting after getting what she wanted to snatch away from Zeb.

I was once again amazed at how bluntly she lied to Yawar’s face just in a nick of time when that moment arose. She made him suffer & convinced him so cleverly that it was his fault for which she is getting married now. Wow! I couldn’t stop wondering about the speed with which her brain works.

Zeb, on the other hand, once again tried to save Natasha from her Pupho’s suspision. She took Yawar’s blame on her & told her Pupho that if she tells anyone about it a hell would break loose. Natasha should be happy to have found a sister like Zeb, who doesn’t let anything bad slide on her younger sister.

Natasha has now clearly learned that Bilal actually liked the girl to whom he spoke on the phone. Natasha knows it was Zeb & still she kept quiet in front of him. But she came raving about it to Zeb & tried to blame her for getting her hooked to Bilal. I actually do not like her character at all, for all the things she is doing now. She is mean, conceited & someone who only feels for herself & wants the best. Why is she trying to blame Zeb for her condition now? Like Zeb said, she tried to impress Bilal but when she understood that he is not interested, she took a back-track & moved on, but Natasha is now unhappy & trying to make Zeb feel bad.

When the drama began, I thought this would be based on anything but sister rivalry but I was sort of wrong. Zeb, at one hand, states that she is perfectly alright & she herself let go off Bilal but deep inside she is suffering, she is sad & was least interested when she had to attend the function of her sister. Zeb, may not be putting up her opinion about her sister so harshly but Natasha does it all the time.

What I did not enjoy was the lies & a line of lies over & over again that were exchanged from one family member to the other. All I know is that family ties are known for sharing secrets & sharing the inner-most feelings but here it looked like anything but that. Mother was telling a lie to the daughter, daughter was lying to the mother, sisters are lying to each other  I kind of hope that the whole scene of Natasha’s wedding gets over ASAP because it is making me lose interest in this drama. I want to see more of Zeb & how her life turns out to be with Bilal’s elder brother.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Mirat-ul-Uroos Episode 14 & 15 – Review

Aima and Hashim finally got married in this episode and the shaky start of their marriage was not surprising at all. Hashim wanted a grand wedding and most of all he can’t seem to get over his obsession with the car. I really liked the way Aima stood up for what she thought was right and was quite happy with a simple wedding. Akbari’s annoyance with everything that goes on in her son’s house made me laugh; Ayesha Khan is doing a commendable job and although I may not agree with Akbari’s thinking but I am enjoying her character now. Hashim’s father’s statement “Billi ko chichray nahi miley” was very true and funny as well. Hashim really needs to grow up and there is definitely a big communication gap between Aima and Hashim. Not to mention the fact that both are poles apart.

Hamnah continued to be selfish and just like her other siblings she has absolutely no regard for what her parents say. While it is important that when two people are engaged they should communicate with each other in order to know each other better and find out if they get along or not but at the same time it creates problems for parents too. Hamnah’s fiancé is constantly dictating to her how he wants things to be and she would much rather listen to him than her parents and grandmother. The only reason Hammad had a grand wedding too was because Ayza kept on telling him how she wanted things to be and everything happened according to Ayza’s wishes. There are times when I feel that Aima is being a little too preachy but I do feel that if more girls and boys start thinking like her, it will put an end of most of the problems that parents face while getting their children married. The way most people think Aima is being unreasonable was very nicely shown and the dialogues “Yehi tu masla ho gaya hai hamare masharay ka Sahi kaam kurne wala ab ajeeb hai” was so true.

I have to agree with one of the readers now who commented earlier on that Ayza’s insecurity was the main reason why she did not want Aima to get married in the same house. Ayza thought Aima’s idea of a simple marriage was “chichorpuna/dikhawa” and felt that by appreciating Ayza her In Laws were putting her down. I was actually surprised when Rafia kept on blaming Aima and Hashim’s engagement for all the bad things that were happening in the house. But I also like the fact that Rafia does not blame Ayza every time Hammad lets her down in any way. I really liked the way Asghari explained to Rafia about rights and duties and how Hammad was not doing them a favor by helping them with the finances. I could not help but wonder though that why can’t Hammad’s father still work somewhere since I have seen many men older than him working even after they get retired.

The entire issue regarding Guddu was also something that should serve as a good warning for some people. And even after everything that happened Akbari kept on blaming Amna’s servant in public, although in her heart she knew that Guddu was the one at fault. I am actually enjoying Akbari’s character now since it is one of a kind and I do know people like that who will do anything to prove themselves right.

Overall these two episodes highlighted a lot of important issues and like always were very relatable. The reasons why this play fails to win one over completely is because of the repetition and also because the picture quality is not that impressive. Everyone acted well in these episodes, so no complaints there. I am looking forward to seeing how Aima manages to resolve the issues with Hashim but at the same time the car issue has been blown out of proportion and it is about time we moved on.

Adnan Sami to become a writer!

0

Adnan Sami Khan is one of those popular celebrities who never let their charm dim in anyway.  Starting his career as a composer, singer and actor in Pakistan Adnan was quick to find the most suitable destination for himself. Soon after his debut album in India, Adnan Sami became the most wanted singer and Composer in the neighboring country. Adnan has taken a new turn in his career and has decided to jot down the most significant points from his life and give them a shape.

adnan-sami

While he was asked about this, he replied:

”if I have to make a film about how my life has been so far, then it will be a full-of-masala flick, I know that! In any case, my independent music albums are biographical but penning it down is something I have just started. I’m writing notes because there are so many incidents which I don’t want to forget and maybe one day, who knows, a biopic might be made out of those notes. I am writing notes which could be possibly used for biography in the form of a book. Let’s see if somebody want to do a biopic at least I have got my notes ready. I have signed a movie and I am playing a conman, who is inefficient and not a bright person, a clumsy character. It’s an intelligent script. In the next few months, the film will go on floors.

This means that we  will be having  a double dose from this celebrity in the upcoming days,

Kahi Unkahi Episode 17 – All About Sherry.

0

This episode completely revolved around Sherry. His feelings, his family’s treatment, his hatred & somewhat his regret. Too bad to see that he is still under a false idea about Zoya. We didn’t get to know much about Zoya.

The story is progressing a lot at Ansar’s side. His strings to Seema have been attached to quite some while now & it doesn’t only stay confined to baseless meetings but has a house involved. This can be called another one of those flicks of elite class’s men which they have portrayed. Ansar mentioned that he never committed her for wedding, so why did he buy her a whole big house? What is she giving for taking so much from him. Mariam’s real nightmare has started after finding out the lipstick clad tissue. I hope she doesn’t stay quiet & involve the whole family in between, but then again if she’d do it, Ansar will detest her more. I guess her wisdom in this given situation will make Ansar fall in love with her.

Sherry was all over the place in this episode. From Rajjo’s hostel to garden, to car, to his room. I liked his intensity when he stood up against Mr. Kamal. His father needed to realize it big time that Sherry is no more a helpless child, for whom he can still take decisions or impose himself on him. Whatever Sherry said was true & I hated to see Mr. Kamal act like a spoilt brat who wasn’t ready to listen to his son & still, after so much, he insisted that Sherry should get committed to Anam.

I really liked Sherry & Mariam’s conversation, more of his actually but was really aweful to see Mariam, despite of understanding how he feels was still trying to convince him. I think Sherry needs some support at this stage & Mariam, acting like his sister should extend some to him. Most of the episode was spent in the flashbacks where Sherry is struggling between the image he knew of Zoya & the image Anam made him see. Let’s hope things get sorted out ASAP & we see a happy ending soon enough.

Loved seeing how Anam was thrown out of Sherry’s room by him in the preview of next episode. Can’t wait for it, lol.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 5 – Totally Hooked!

0

A brilliant episode once again! The pace of the show and its twists and turns are keeping me hooked to the show. Mohib Mirza and Saba Qamar have done a spectacular job. At first, I was a bit skeptical about Mohib doing the role of Shayan, even his new look seemed like it would not suit him, but I must say he is the perfect person for the role of Shayan and his look completely complements his character of a beauty loving artist. Sohail Javed has done a wonderful job as the director and Maha Malik’s script is like a cherry on top.

Finally Shayan marries Irfa in this episode. It was about time he realized how important Irfa was in his life. He never valued her before because she was always around but when he realized that he would lose her forever he got scared and finally proposed her on the night of her Mehendi. Well, Thank God it wasn’t during her Nikkah! That would have been extremely clichéd! Shayan compromised on one thing he values the most and that is beauty. Outer beauty is a very important factor to a person like him. He compromised because he was scared of his loneliness but for how long? At one point or the other the beauty worshiping nature of his personality will become dominant. Will he regret his decision then?

Irfa and Shayan have a great chemistry and I loved all their scenes in this episode. To some extent, Irfa does feel inferior in front of Shayan. In the scene where Shayan takes her out, Irfa could not help but recall Shayan’s dialogues of unmatched pairs roaming around together. She also took Mahjabeen’s dialogues to heart when she told her that a person like Shayan gets bored of colors easily and need new colors in his life all the time. She got extremely upset when Mahjabeen said “Rang Peekha parhne mein time nahi lagega” and Shayan’s preferences will soon change.

I must say Juggan Kazim is doing a great job as Mahjabeen. Her comic character balances the highly emotional scenes in the episode. She got more than what she deserved. Shayan ditched her and she got married to Nasir who treats her like a princess and she dominates him in every way possible. They make a perfect pair! Their after marriage scenes were extremely hilarious. Especially the one when Irfa sees the newlyweds and their lovey dovey moments and she could not help but laugh, and the awkward way Nasir greeted her. Now she is Irfa Baji for him! Extremely hilarious scene!

“Mein Duniya ki Kisi bhi larki to thukra sakhta hun per Irfa ko nahi”

These dialogues were spoken by Shayan after he and Irfa got married and Irfa was voicing out her doubts about their future relationship. Shayan is a very unpredictable character. His mood and his preferences change very quickly. Let’s see if Shayan would remain true to his words.

I loved all the dialogues spoken by Irfa in this episode. She is surprised and happy at the same time because of the change in Shayan’s attitude towards her. A beautiful line that remained in my memory while watching the episode was when Shayan told her that I may be unpredictable but at the end of the day I will always come back to you and Irfa said that I will always wait for you no matter what. Wow! That’s one beautiful dialogue!

Shayan’s non serious attitude towards life has started to irk me a little. I thought after her mother’s death he would start taking his life seriously but I was wrong. He still refuses to do a job despite Irfa’s persistence. He actually took her advice in a bad sense which made Irfa give up on him. On the whole, it was a great episode. I am curious to know what will happen next! I am sure this show will manage to take the top spot if its pace remains the same.

Keep watching this wonderful show and do leave your valuable comments!

Daagh Episode 18 – Height of Insensitvity!

0

I have no words after watching this heart breaking episode. I have no respect left for Murad after this episode. He finally spilled to Umama what was in his heart all this time.

“Tumne mujhe aj tak diya hee kiya hai siwaye 4 betiyon ke, Deeba ne mujhe mere waris, mere bête diye hai”

The heart wrenching cries of Umama after hearing these words made me switch the channel. Meher Bano’s acting was spot on! Murad finally voiced out the one thing she dreaded to hear the most. Umama was quiet as long as her daughters were given their rights but now Murad’s attitude towards his daughters has changed drastically after the arrival of his two precious soon; Azher and Waleed.

Deeba has become adamant on making Umama and her daughters’ life miserable. Her tactics are extremely annoying and cheap. First, she kicked the kids out of their own room as she wanted the room for Azher and Waleed. Then she told Murad to shift the 4 of them upstairs in a store like room and if this wasn’t enough she wrongly blamed Hira for dropping her son purposely which led to an argument between Deeba and Umama and resulted in Murad slapping Umama! This was the last straw and Umama’s patience completely gave away and she moved back to her father’s house.
This time she told everything to her father about how she was being treated in the house and he supported her and her decision. At least she can live peacefully there. I really hope she does not go back after this humiliation. Murad has completely become Deeba’s personal puppet and does everything that she asks. She asked Murad to transfer the house to her son’s name and he agreed despite Umama’s protest. I could not help but laugh at the irony of the situation when I saw Murad tailing after Deeba. Previously, Deeba followed Murad and he did not pay heed to her and now Murad is completely at Deeba’s mercy.

The only person in the house who still values and cares about Umama is Rehana. The main reason for her concern is because she is indebted to her as she gave her the child she always craved for. Rehana tried a lot to make Murad realize his mistake but it was all to no avail as he did not pay any heed to her words. I loved Rehana’s dialogue when Murad said that Umama will regret leaving the house and she bluntly told him ‘Kahi pachtana tumhe hee na parh jaye’. This dialogue brought a huge smile to my face. Murad and his selfish mother will definitely regret the way they have treated Umama. Rehana also tried to make Murad realize that Deeba is not capable of providing a good upbringing to his sons, only Umama can do that. So true! Her upbringing is brilliant and it reflects in her daughters.

Here we go again! Whenever Aqeela feels like she cannot do the house chores alone anymore, she remembers Umama. How pathetic! She only sees Umama as a working machine with no feelings and emotions. How insensitive can people get? She wants Umama back in the house so that she would do all the work 24/7 while she lays back and get some rest. Umama has become nothing but a scape goat for everybody! Its time she realizes her own value and leaves these selfish, good for nothing people. I hope she takes Atiqa’s advice and start her studies again and stand on her own feet. It is about time she learns to live without the support of others.

Fahad Mustafa never fails to disappoint me with his superb acting. The character of Deeba suits Sana Askari perfectly. Her acting is so convincing that I cannot help but hate Deeba from the bottom of my heart! She can do positive as well as negative roles perfectly and this is one quality which few actors possess. I really hope Umama does not return to that torture house! I am eager to know what happens next. I really hope we get to see Murad and Aqeela regretting their behavior soon.
Keep watching to find out what happens next!

Humaima Malik and Mika Singh to perform Together in HUM Awards 2013!

0

It is always a pleasure to see that the people of Pakistan have come out of the foreign craze and are cherishing their own dramas in every sense. While the half of the credit goes to the audience, it is to be remembered that the private channels  are also responsible for creating a good local market in the field of talent and entertainment. Now that the dramas are leading the entertainment industry, an appreciation to the artists is something that must be given for their work. As announced few days back, It is Hum TV that would soon be coming up with the HUM Awards 2013, paying a tribute to the great projects of the previous year.

What is new in this regard is about Lux Style award Winner, Humaima Malik who would be performing in the ceremony with none other than Mika Singh. Saba Hameed’s Talented Family Tree!

0

Saba Hameed is one of the most popular veteran actors of Television Industry. She has been seen in the most popular drama serials like Dastaan, Main Abdul Qadir Hoon, Qaid e Tanhai, Aks, The Baraat series and the recently ended show Aik Tamanna Lahasil Si. It would not be wrong to say that she is the vamp of our drama industry. She is usually seen in negative or grey shaded roles which are played to perfection by her. However, she has also shown versatility by doing positive roles in Dastaan and the Baraat series and a comic role in the show Family Front. Saba has proved time and time again what a brilliant actress she is. Her acting is so natural that you want to hate her when she plays a negative role but you also cannot help but love her in her positive roles. This actress who is in her late 50’s (believe it or not) has impressed everyone with her talent.

Her family is filled with talents of all sorts. She is the daughter of a renowned columnist and writer Hamid Akhtar. She has two kids from her first marriage to Syed Pervaiz Shafi; Meesha Shafi and Faris Shafi who are both equally talented like their mother. Her second husband Waseem Abbas is also renowned actor of our industry. However, they are divorced now. (Not sure if this is a rumor or actually true!)

meeshaMeesha Shafi:
Meesha Shafi is the daughter of Saba Hameed and has made her own name in the entertainment industry. She is a singer, actor as well as a model.
She started her career by appearing in Jawad Ahmed video Bin Teray Kya Hai Jeena. She started her career as a model soon after that. She was the spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris Pakistan and has appeared in International magazines such as Vogue. She then entered the television industry and was seen in shows like Muhabbat Khawab ki Soorat and Ye Zindagi To Woh Nahi. Her biggest career breakthrough was when she signed the Hollywood movie, The Reluctant Fundamentalist. She was seen alongside popular actors like Kate Hudson and Liev Schreiber in the movie. She will also be seen in the Bollywood movie, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

Her versatility did not end here. She then tried her luck in singing and was the lead vocalist in the band called Overload. And who can forget her famous song from Coke Studio Jugni Allah Wali which she sang alongside Arif Lahor. It is the most popular Coke Studio song yet with about 10+ million views on YouTube. She also contributed to the soundtrack of her movie, The Reluctant Fundamentalist.

FarisFaris Shafi:
Faris Shafi is the son of Saba Hameed and Syed Pervaiz Shafi. He started his career as a rapper/singer and is known for his video Awaam. He is another addition to the talented family of Saba Hameed. He then tried his luck in acting and was seen in the popular show Manjali which aired on Geo TV. It came as a surprise when I got to know that he is the son of Saba Hameed and that too after the show Manjali ended! He performed well for a newcomer and we hope to see him in other shows too.

His second video Tere Bina was not as successful as his first video but it did manage to entertain the viewers. His videos cannot compete with the Saeein AKA Ali Gul Pir’s standard, but they have made loyal viewers of their own.

waseemWaseem Abbas:
Waseem Abbas is the second husband (or ex husband) of Saba Hameed and he is also the son of the popular actor Inayat Hussain Bhatti. He is a famous veteran actor and director. He started his career in the 1980’s and is seen in films like Badaltey Mausam, Manzil and Zara Si Baat. He has done many TV shows such as Family Front, Landa Bazaar, Mera Saeein 2 and is recently seen in Zindagi Gulzar Hai. He had taken a break from acting and resumed it after many years with the show Mera Saeein 2. He will also be seen in the show Kaala Jaadu very soon.
