Pakistan Idol – Coming Soon

0

Singing talent shows have been a part of Pakistani television Industry for so long but I am sorry to say none of them clicked me and I did not watch an entire season of any singing shows. Pakistanis always lagged behind other countries in producing quality reality shows whether that reality show is of singing, dancing or physical tasks based.

All of us are familiar of singing talent hunt named as Indian Idol. Many of us also came across American and Australian Idol.Recenty, first journey of Indian Idol Junior came to ended that was surely a treat to watch.

I am privileged to announce that Pakistan Idol is about to begin on GEO TV. Geo TV ,in association with Fremantle Media, has finally got the rights of broadcasting this talent show exclusively for Pakistanis.

During last two weeks, I was thinking of writing about lack of opportunities for Pakistanis. Like in India, there are singing schools, dancing schools and what not. Whereas, our children and people are deprived of taking any recreational activity and see my wish came true. Back to Back news of MasterChef Pakistan and Pakistan Idol made me really glad and satisfied.

All we want now is to look upon the fact that who will be able to bring true form of entertainment for us. Whether it will be MasterChef Pakistan to be shown on Urdu1 or it will be Pakistan Idol that will be soon aired on Geo Tv.

imagesI am dead sure that there will be a clash of titans on weekends and those who will watch MasterChef Pakistan will be deprived of watching Pakistan Idol and vice versa. But my suggestion is, give a try to both of them. You can switch on other channels during commercials else simply download one of them from Internet.

Let’s see which talent will win people`s heart. Cooking or Singing?

Do share your views about Pakistan Idol.

Aseer Zaadi Episode 3 – A Superb Show!

0

I was primarily intrigued by this show because of one person: Sania Saeed. I have rarely seen her in pure negative roles, and the role she is playing right now is very different from the ones she had played before. Badi Sarkar (Sania Saeed) is a woman who lives and acts likes a queen. She has a certain grace and aura around her, and Sania Saeed’s brilliant acting has brought her character to a next level. Her dialogue delivery, expressions and her body language all emits power. Badi Sarkar is definitely not a person to mess with, because she never forgive nor forgets. She is the mother of the only Waris of the Haveli, which gives her a sense of superiority and her status is considered above all others. The difference between the three characters she is playing in three different shows is remarkable. In Darmiyaan she plays a happily married working woman, in Numm she is playing a very soft spoken and graceful woman and a stern and powerful woman in Aseer Zaadi. Hats off to her!

photo(3)The first two episodes focused more around the introduction of the characters and their status in the family. I was initially shocked at the way the first two wives were treated, their status was not more than servants, and they had to act like widows just because they were unable to give heir to the Haveli. They looked more like some Hindu widows with the white clothes to me. Badi Sarkar’s treatment with them was totally repulsive and though I do not prefer watching shows revolving around the concept of ‘Peer-Mureedi’ and ill treatment of wives, still Sania Saeed’s character made me watch this show every week.

photo(4)The third episode revolved around Badi Sarkar and the rest taking proposal for Shahab’s (Noor Hasan) second marriage. The history is repeating itself as Shahab’s first wife was unable to give Haveli an heir and now Badi Sarkar wants him to get married again. What Badi Sarkar did not expect was Maira’s (Ainie Jafferi) refusal for the marriage. It was a hard blow to her inflated ego that a mere slip of a girl rejected her proposal. I was really confused with her reaction at first; she pretended not to be offended by the rejection, but she took her no as a challenge and now she is adamant on making her the daughter-in-law of the Haveli by hook or by crook.

photo(2)Another shocking character for me in this show is of Amna played by Sakina Sammo. I have always had the image of her as a graceful lady. Her character in Mastana Mahi is still engraved in my mind as I loved her in that role. Now seeing her as the witless Amna who is on the verge of insanity was pretty unexpected and surprising. The madness she showed in this episode by angering Badi Sarkar purposely, and gloating on her insult was brilliantly acted out by her. I did not know whether I should pity her or get amused by her madness! Naseemi’s character on the other hand, is of a calm and composed woman who has come to terms with her status in the house.

photo(1)Another character that I have really liked so far is of Shahab’s. His character is the opposite of his mother; he loves the two Bibis and gives them the respect they deserve, and has even stood up for them many times. He is not in the favor of the second marriage, but nobody can say anything once Badi Sarkar makes a decision. He loves and respects his first wife and cares for her feelings, which is a huge contrast from the way his father treats his other wives.

photoMaira has made the biggest mistake of her life by messing with Badi Sarkar and she is in for a rough time ahead. The tradition of the Peer family is that Waris is only borne by the third wife and her fear of marrying in the family is acceptable. I was wondering in the beginning why any parents would marry their daughter to a guy who is already married, but my confusion got cleared in this episode. Manager Sahab is in huge debt of Peer Jalal and getting his daughter married in the Haveli is a way of paying back the debt.

If Maira does not marry Shahab, Badi Sarkar would not let her marry her cousin either. She will make her agree at any cost, and now her cousin will pay the cost of her decision as was shown in the preview for the next episode.

I really like the show so far and I am really looking forward to what happens next!

I would love to hear your opinion about the episode, so do not forget to comment!

Kankar Episode 14 – The Ordeal Continues

0

Aap ka sawal yeh nahi hona chayeh tha ke meinay kya kiya, aap ka sawal yeh hona chahyeh ke mujhe takleef tu nahi hui!

Few things that were highlighted the most in tonight’s episode were 1) majority of the people are more interested in what is happening in other people’s lives rather than their own. 2) Most of us care more about what others think about us rather than looking out for the interest of those we love.  3) If things go wrong in a marriage, people will be quick to believe that it must be the girl who is at fault. How could Kiran’s mother not give her a chance to explain herself even, very sad indeed but was it unreal? Most certainly not! Umera Ahmed has depicted the circumstances faced by many girls in our society perfectly. Once a girl gets married, she has to o everything in her power to make her marriage work even if that means putting her integrity at stake. And if someone tries to walk out of an abusive relationship, she is most likely to meet the fate that Kiran did. I really felt for Kiran in tonight’s episode.

k5

Sikandar did not abuse Kiran physically again but the verbal abuse went on non stop; it kept on aggravating because Sikandar and his mother could not stop Kiran from expressing her opinion! This was another aspect of tonight’s episode to which many viewers could definitely relate to; married women most often are not expected to express their opinions openly and if they do then mothers in law feel insecure and husbands feel like their wives are too opinionated. When Kiran asks Sikandar why he didn’t support her, his answer was “Tumhei meri hamayat ki kya zarurat hai, tum khud he kafi ho apna case lrne ke liye” and that is exactly what she is getting punished for. I am certain there are many people who feel that if Kiran stops expressing how she feels things will get better, so why not do it? In my opinion even if Kiran stops expressing herself the way she does, things will continue to the way they are because Sikandar and his mother have shown that they do not have an ounce of respect for Kiran because of her “choti aukat”.

k3

I couldn’t help but think that it was very ironic when Sikandar said to Kiran “Tu kya chahti hun laroon apni maa se tumhare liye”? Wasn’t Kiran the same girl who Sikandar was dying to get married to a few months back and he completely sidelined his mother’s wishes in order to do that? Now that Kiran is part of his life, he wants everything exactly the way he wishes and he fails to treat Kiran as an individual.

k7

Shaista conveyed the pack of lies she had come up with to Kiran’s mother and Faiqa communicated the same to the rest of the family. The growing tensions between Kiran and Sikandar were the topic of the day; everyone discussed the matter and no one held Sikandar responsible except for Adnan.

All through the episode, I was hoping that Kiran’s mother will feel for her daughter at some point. Even if she didn’t express her concern for her openly, deep inside she would think that what had happened was wrong but nothing like that happened. How could she be so convinced that it was her daughter who was entirely at fault? Maybe because Sikandar has always been so good to Kiran and her family and also because of all the lies that Shaista told her. I was equally disappointed and shocked at Kiran’s father’s reaction. But then there are many parents who would expect their daughter to put up with much more as long as they have “loving” husband who can provide them with all the luxuries of life.

k2

Sikandar’s remark “Tum se ziada beghairat aurat waise meinay dekhi nahi apni zindagi mei” proved that he actually had no respect for Kiran. The preview for the next episode showed that Sikandar subjects Kiran to physical abuse again. It was bound to happen because the way Kiran’s mother dragged her back to her in laws proved to them that Kiran did not have any place to run to. She is more helpless and vulnerable now then she ever was.

kankar

This play is definitely very close to real life; I am sure there are many women out there who have had such troubled marriages and many men too who have taken their wives for granted. This world unfortunately is full of Shaista’s and Faiqa’s and not to mention women like Kiran’s mother too. Tonight’s episode was very well directed, the camera angles were perfect and the scenes were short and to the point. The acting like always stayed top notch.

International Antique Furniture Exhibition by Sonia Rehman!

0

Cashing their earned name as a brand is what we have been witnessing in our entertainment industry where our celebrities, once earning fan following come up with a brand, a boutique, a saloon or something similar and related to the fashion industry but what Sonia Rehman has recently came up with is much interesting as compared to the businesses I shared above,

Sonia Rehman who we enjoy watching on screen has recently conducted an international antique furniture exhibition targeting the different eras  and presenting a camouflage of years. The idea she focused on was to collect the ancient styles of furnitures of different civilizations like the British Raj, Indus Valley Civilization, Mughal Courts and things similar to them. She has individually selected each masterpiece and personally been involved in restoring each item in her signature style. These exquisite pieces are sure to be cherished by not only those who own them today but also future generations.

Showing their love and support towards Sonia Rehman, many Pakistani stars visited the exhibition and applauded Sonia for the magnificent idea she just turned into really. The event got a good media coverage and celebrities like Sania Saeed,  Humayun Saeed, Marina  Khan and Mahira Khan were spotted in the event.

Here are a few clicks taken and been shared, have a look!

Aunn Zara Episode 12 – The Best One!

0

Not because of those tummy tickling humorous moments but because of some over whelming, heart to heart conversations between Husna & Zara, which broke the ice and showed how bitter a reality can be behind a smiling face, those fears which no one can relate to, this episode for me was the best one so far.

Didn’t know the episode that started at such a comical note would end leaving us absolutely gutted about the sufferings of Aun’s mother. Aun Zara just couldn’t imagine a little we-time of theirs would lead them to such a deep pit. The leader of the ‘Anti-Aun Gang’ Nighat showed up at exactly the right time when apparently Aun & Zara were in a fist fight. No one actually noticed Aunn lying on the ground too but all they could see was Zara’s frowning face. Where Daadi thought she had to be all ‘waari jawan’ on ‘peeli patak’  Zara, Zara just couldn’t relate how & exactly why the things were being blown out of proportion. During the course of the drama, Daadi always had some issues in bonding with Nighat but this time Daadi actually took a leap of faith blindly by depending on wherever would Daadi’s ‘Nigho’ lead her to. I actually loved how Daadi strengthen her bond with her partner-in-crime by calling her daughter Nigho. It was just so interesting how Nighat spoke about Jamshed’s feelings towards Zara, actually showing she knows & thinks a bit more about him & she actually is considerate towards his feelings.

Aunn who thought it was a high time for returning a favor to Manzar by getting him hooked with Zara’s friend, came up with a brilliant plan of a dual-date. Nighat has to be appreciated for always swooping in at the right time and taking the eavesdropping to another level. Husna who at first was hesitant later actually didn’t hold back & let Daadi & Nighat on the loose knowing whatever they intended & were upto meant saving the relation of Zara. Daadi had to insult the ‘talangri & mashoomri’  Shehna because of her she knew Aunn & her whole family was in ‘ishq da sayappa’

From restaurant to their home, from the clarification of the misunderstandings to Zara’s laughter fit, I felt the whole series of events were absolutely perfect not only in terms of acting but also in terms of timing, in terms of direction & everything else. No one could ever imagine the emotional & abusive drone attack Daadi & Nighat would open at their ‘iklota laadla, ankhon ka taara’ Aun. I must admit that I appreciate Daadi for her spontaneity & honesty because during all such chaos, she didn’t forget teaching Husna as to how she should slap Aunn, as Daadi actually outdone herself in all those ‘chands’ (slaps) she awarded Aunn with. I actually feel bad for what Shehna had to go through just because the poor thing fell into the trap set by Aunn for her marriage. I think this would be the last thing on anyone’s mind in regards to the marriage proposal. The funniest thing to me was that Manzar still had guts to propose her up front for the first time knowing but simply ignoring the humility she went through. The way Aunn was dragged to the home & how Zara took responsibility in telling what actually happened was spot on because I think a further delay about this confusion would make things a bit dragged.

I absolutely loved the intelligent choices of word which lead to some delicately well-knit confusions where Zara’s unspecific ‘unhain’  forced Husna to lead her think-tank to the wrong path. Zara who actually came to terms with Jamshed & Nighat’s love flick didn’t know on what lines Husna was taking her permission as. Jamshed handing over THE RING to Nighat & Zara arriving at the ‘moqa-e-wardaat’ made it just perfect. Loved that uncomfortable grin on Jamshed’s face because he knew what he was thinking but actually spoke the opposite. How Nighat’s daughters have become Zara’s look-alike to Jamshed speaks volume as to how much he wants ‘mohtarma & her rehmat’s’ to be a part of him now.

Last but not the least the way Husna yearned and convinced Zara in making a promise about never shattering & staying strong actually showed her fears & those years which she spent in negativity herself. It was absolutely heart-wrenching to see Husna relating to Zara & admitting why she became so possessive about Aunn because she didn’t want to fail in her upbringing as Aunn was her only asset. She just couldn’t tolerate Aunn failing her values which she taught him as a mother. For this very reason Husna apologized to Zara out of no where because she thought she just couldn’t make Aunn the man she wanted him to be & she hated seeing his father’s reflection in him. Zara has for sure earned the respect & love everyone extends towards her because she has given everything she had to her family & for this Husna has opened up those deep secrets which she carried with her all these years. During the first conversation I thought Husna was a victim of domestic violence but thank god Daadi made it clear in her spat with Aunn that at least his father never hit Husna. Phew!

Aunn’s deep thoughts gave a negative vibe for a moment. I think he will get into that state of mind where he will dislike everyone’s shift of attitude towards him because of Zara. I hope she doesn’t pay the price because every now & then it did occur to Aunn how everyone treated him differently than before, I think even though he wanted things to change & the attention of everyone towards him getting a notch lower, he still won’t be able to keep up with it as he is used to being the center of attention.

& finally a little in fact a louder shout out for the best acting of the best cast brought out by the best director for the sake of best writing piece from the best writer. I loved every single expression, every single ‘haye’ every single detail of this episode, hence, it was THE BEST EPISODE. PERIOD! :)

Microsoft Takes over Nokia for $7.2 Billion

0

While the world is still found confused with the news, the two major technology contributors are now joint under a single identity- The Microsoft. If you are a Nokia fan and have been using the Finnish products that once leaded the Mobile industry, the news is really a critical one. It was only few days back that Microsoft has officially purchased Nokia for $ 7.2 Billion dividing the world into halves in terms of opinion where one supports the move while other accuses Nokia CEO Elop for selling out the soul of Finland for something as low as $7.2 Billion.

Nokia and Microsoft-The Deal!

The about-to-retire Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmar had been into much of the news for his announcement of retirement in a year as a result of the continuous criticism and lack of support within the company and seems like Ballmar has taken a smart move to prove his rivals that it was pointless to consider him as a trash and a bad luck for Microsoft. Presenting his last, yet the biggest hit to the shares in general, Steve Ballmar signed a deal with Elop, the CEO of Nokia and has now taken over the once recognized Finnish best-seller mobile company, Nokia.

bits-mountgroup-custom2

Microsoft becomes the owner of Nokia-Thank to Elop!

The man who is hated by the majority of population in Finland is now enthusiastic about the move he has taken which has changed the status of not only Nokia, but of the entire Finland overnight. Since the day Elop has gotten into power in 2010, he seems to be a Microsoft supporter who proved it for the first time in 2011 when he chose ‘Microsoft Windows Phone’ to be the next major product to compete with the increasing dominance of smartphones from other manufacturers. The company had a series of arguments where many of the senior stakeholders proposed that Nokia should come up with its own powerful mechanism to sustain the global pressure but Elop was quite sure that once Nokia earned the banner of Microsoft, Nokia will grow with a higher pace.

The idea failed badly bringing the assets of the company down from $200 Billion to somewhere here at $7 Billion. The wounds become severe when we see Elop selling the world-recognized mobile company to Microsoft only.

What made Microsoft buy the brand?

Microsoft-Nokia-merger

Spending $7 billion to add a huge brand in the hit list is something which is seriously not an issue for the world’s richest man and for his company. If you have been following the trends of Microsoft like me, it is easy to conclude that Microsoft is never good in its first attempt but brings wonders to the world after picking up the idea of its rivals always. Now that Apple Inc rules the iPhone world and Google is banging up the world with its Android power, Microsoft is now already to cash the label ‘Nokia’ now.

For now it is really not appropriate to comment on the latest move in the tech world.

Let us see how the merger works out for Microsoft and the Nokia Fans.

First Turkish Movie to Hit Pakistani Cinemas Soon!

0

No matter how hard we try not to discuss about the foreign content and the controversial realities attached to it, the idea is turning into a giant monster which is haunting the local drama-makers and now the filmmakers are not exempted here.

Turkish dramas have been airing with their urdu dubbing been done and from Ishq-e-Mamnu to Fatima Gul, have gathered quite an audience so far. Now that we see our film industry flourishing with the improved efforts made by celebrities and organizers, Turkish films will now be coming to Pakistan to add in the competition which our movies have to face from Indian and Hollywood movies. Turkish movie, ‘Ask Tesadüfleri Sever’, translated as Mohabbat ek Itefaq in Urdu will soon be making its way to the Pakistani cinemas. It is interesting that the especially dubbed movie will also hit the Indian and Bangladeshi cinemas soon.

download

Been released in in February 2011, the movie earned a huge business of 50 million USD and is one of the highest grossing Turkish films, with a first weekend hit of 1,779,485 USD, of the year and investors hope that the movie will now add up into the revenue with its global launch in different language.

The story of the movie revolves around the life of a famous actress who is into a strong relationship but the family of her love does not approve her profession at all. She then meets a photographer during one of her shoots who falls for her and that is the point where the trio love angle starts.

download (1)

The upcoming project is a result of the mutual efforts of Pakistani production team-Sohail Productions and will be releasing in Pakistan this Eid-ul-Azha. There are 18 targeted cinemas in Pakistan which will support the Turkish movie that are mainly located in Karachi,Lahore and Rawalpindi.

The movie is half way done with its translation and voice recording and it is expected to see its promos releasing not only on E-media but in newspapers too.

images

It is yet difficult for me to judge this move because the idea would be facilitating the cinema houses anyway but it still creates a question about how will our local industry survive in the given circumstances! The release of Chennai Express ate up all the good for the Pakistani releases on Eid as it is, and now that this Turkish movie will release on coming Eid too, it is more like a threat to other expected Pakistani movies been scheduled to release on the occasion.

Kadurat – Episode 08

0

Honestly speaking, even after everything that Mina has put her family through I find it impossible to dislike her character. It could be because Sanam Saeed has played this character so brilliantly that she has completely overshadowed every other character in the play. I am not quite warming up to Aleena and Daniyal’s romance; they do not come across as cute at all. Aleena’s character is likeable but the romance between Aleena and Daniyal seems forced. The highlight of tonight’s episode was Mina’s attempt to kill Aleena. I couldn’t help but wonder that why didn’t the “poison” that Mina add to the tea made it taste bitter! This particular development was very unconvincing and why did Aleena have to think so much when Mahmood asked her that who made the tea for her! Since, she wasn’t sure how good Mina’s intentions were in the first place.

k2

Mina’s plan to fire the secretary on the other hand was very intelligently planned and executed. The blackmail worked like a charm and Mahmood was left with no choice but to side with Mina. Asad, like always could clearly see through Mina but was completely helpless. The introduction of the new character Asma seemed a bit out of place. Asma’s character failed to impress me primarily because the acting of the actress playing the role was extremely unconvincing. The dialogues were not very impressive either. It was quite evident that Asad was completely swayed away from this girl’s confidence but aren’t secretaries supposed to be the kind of girls who follow orders as opposed to telling their bosses right from wrong? She could have been fit for any other job but definitely not for the job that Asad wants to hire her for.

k6

Shaheen’s attempts to woo Mina’s father continued throughout the episode; Mahmood is not “warming up to her” at all. I do not like this particular track of the story at all; it is sad to see a young girl belittling herself the way Shaheen is. I must confess that the only character that truly leaves an impact on the audience is that of Mina and the only reason for it being so is Sanam Saeed’s brilliant performance.

k4

Asad finally decides to retaliate to what Mina has been doing. He seems like one of those people who either ignore things or retaliate in a very ruthless manner. Unlike, the past few episodes, the direction wasn’t very impressive in this one. There were times when I felt that the scenes ended abruptly. Like, when Atiqa gets up to ask Aleena about her consent and we were taken straight to Asma’s house. Atiqa’s reaction to whatever happened to Aleena was once again very strange. I would have expected her to go frantic but she was calm enough.

k5

The preview of the next episode showed that Mahmood will stop trusting Mina altogether. For once she tells him the truth but he reacts in the worst manner. This is only going to make Mina’s condition worse; where is the psychiatrist in all this? The counseling is not helping Mina at all but it almost feels like Mina is taking the psychiatrist for a ride too!

This best thing about this latest installment just like all the previous ones was Sanam Saeed’s flawless portrayal of Mina. She is the one who makes this show worth watching and she actually makes it hard to dislike Mina’s character because she portrays Mina’s insecurities and fears just as well as her negative side.

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 04.

So things have started to shape up a bit in the drama. Story is progressing but there were some of those moments where connecting the dots seemed difficult. Was it a flaw in the direction or bad editing – some scenes just didn’t go with the flow in the revelation of the story.

Arham has actually started to open up in front of Areeba & he is showing interest in her. That was in fact shown nicely that Arham felt degraded at the mention of the word sympathy where he himself expected it to be love. He uttered to himself that he has failed in love before but didn’t want it to happen again, which eventually will now. Everyone has become quite vocal about Arham & Areeba. Areeba’s never ending questions about Arham & her insightful conversations with Arham have been noticed by the whole family. Sara is taking her pride in being the first one to speak openly about Areeba’s feelings towards Arham. It was such a white lie where Areeba claims to only have the emotional sympathy with him instead of letting her friend know what her true feelings were. I think it was a bit odd that knowing Narmeen & her attitude, Areeba still asked her about the tiff between her & Arham.

Where Shahiq himself is conscious of Narmeen’s meaningless displays of public affections, he on the other hand is also trying for his marriage to work out with Narmeen. He was all furious at what she did in front of Arham & his parents but still he managed to tell how much he missed her. Where Shahiq is coming to terms with the fact that he is married to Narmeen & he is trying his best to accept her as his wife, Narmeen, by all means is perfectly pushing all the wrong buttons to disappoint him.

Even though when Narmeen knew how shallow her relation was with her Mamu & his family, why did she get married to her cousin in the first place? She knew that she almost hates them all, so why destroy the peace of their family? I really couldn’t get why she stepped back when Shakeel tried to bless his Bahu? It is kind of annoying to see Narmeen blowing every single thing out of proportion.

What I couldn’t quite get was that at one point Arham leaves the house at the mention of Areeba’s sympathy with him but on the other hand Shahiq & Narmeen are seen discussing their wedding? Parents, who have never made it obvious & are unaware of the growing feelings between them, Shahiq mentions that Areeba is quite happy with the proposal? I really didn’t get how did the situation surface without any sound background?

Arham & Areeba still have to patch things up but Narmeen actually has left the house because of their discussion on their wedding? I feel this was quite a flaw in either the direction or the editing. Where Areeba herself has not even admitted to anyone that she likes Arham, Shahiq made such a statement about her being happy with the idea of their wedding? Where did it come from? & even when nothing has actually happened, Narmeen found her ways to voice her opinions about their relation. I think what Shahiq did was absolutely right because Narmeen did cross her limits. Where Shahiq on his own is happy about Areeba being Arham’s wife, Narmeen has accused him of his hidden ulterior motive of having Areeba around him.

The episode was a bit interesting but there were some loop-holes which were quite clear. Arham once again didn’t forget to mention k ‘Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai’ & I was like ohkay bhai jaan, we get your point, can we move ahead? & I don’t really understand the use of the word Khuda where as the only word suitable for our Almighty is Allah! For the sake of the drama, the title fits well but in the dialogues I guess the lesser or no use of this word would be perfect.

The preview of the next episode was interesting as well & what seemed more interesting was a lie that Narmeen’s mother uttered about Shahiq hitting his wife. I really want to see what happens next because despite some flaws I am interested in knowing how the things will unfold.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

5th International Children Film Festival to be held at Lahore!

0

It is more than a dilemma that there is hardly any local content left that can be associated with the children of the nation where we see no dedicated programs or channels that work on child grooming and skill motivation for the young souls who, as a result of this seek interest in foreign content and follow Indian talent hunt shows and movies.

It is not only in India that special projects are been rendered to this specific age group of viewers but the trend is more like a need in west. It was recently a creative idea of Burka Avengers but again it too failed to attract a pretty huge audience probably because of the lack of promotions been done by the channel itself.

Much to our delight, a non-profit organization The Little Art (TLA) is working on Children’s cinema and for that it will soon be holding an international children’s film festival in Lahore from 16th to 21st September, 2013.

This 6-day festival is being held at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore in collaboration of Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, Government of Punjab.

The significance of this film festival is the fact that the movies been chosen for the festival highlight the problems faced by children in general. The researchers claim that the idea of spreading awareness and learning through the visual arts among the children is a great way to enhance the capabilities of the children in different domains.

The Little Art (TLA) has also announced a national art competition named ArtBeat. Festival director, Shoaib Iqbal told in an interview:

“ArtBeat is a visual arts project to raise awareness about identity, rights, and social justice among children and youth.”

With the theme “Me/My Rights”, the competition aims at providing children with a platform to express their inner feelings. Children and youngsters of 3-18 years of age from all over Pakistan submitted their work early this year. The winners will be given 30 different prizes and TLA has announced to fully sponsor two brilliant artists for Sharjah International Biennial for Children’s Arts.

TLA has done a great deal of work in motivating the children grooming through quality films and this would be its 5th major move in the said domain.

We wish the team a very good luck for the event,

More power,

Mere Humrahi Episode 4 – Emotionally Loaded!

0

This week’s episode was way better than last two and I personally liked it a lot. The pace was still slow but we got to see a lot of interesting scenes in this episode. If they would have showed the wedding sequence immediately after Ahmed offered to marry Haaniyah, then it would have made no sense. I am glad that they showed the inner turmoil that Ahmed was going through. He had made this hasty decision to save his parent’s reputation but now he had doubts about the future of his relationship with Haaniyah.

“Kya Mera Faisla Sahi Hai… Mein Aur Haaniyah Aik Doosre Se Muhabbat Nahi Karte. Kaise Face Karunga Mein Haaniyah Ko”

photo(11)His indecision, confusion and turmoil were clearly depicted by his thoughts above. I loved the way he put up a brave face in front of his sister and mother and did not let them know how unsure he was about his decision. His mother was a bit shocked by his decision at first, but now even she was just as proud of Ahmed as his father.

My heart completely went out to Haaniyah in this episode. She was so happy to hear that Ahad has agreed for the marriage again and she instantly forgave him for what he had done just a day before. She was happy again and preparing enthusiastically for her wedding, until her father came and burst her bubble. The heart-to-heart conversation between father and daughter was an emotionally charged scene and both Soniya and Munawar Saeed were brilliant in the scene. This scene literally gave me goose bumps and I could clearly feel the emotions of the two characters.

photo(14)Soniya perfectly portrayed the initial shock, followed by hysteria and finally acceptance of the situation. Her father first tried to explain the situation to her and when that did not work he resorted to emotional blackmailing to make her agree and since she had already made the mistake of not listening to her father in Ahad’s case, she agreed to her father’s decision this time. The sad part was that she still did not give up on Ahad and kept calling him again and again. Her chant of ‘Mein Ahad Se Muhabbat Karti Hun’ did not end till the very end!

“Hum Apni Aulaad Ko Sab Kuch De Sakhte Hai Per Naseeb Nahi”

photo(10)This dialogue was spoken by Haaniyah’s father after he witnessed her breakdown. Every parent wants their children to be happy and all their wishes to be fulfilled but Haaniyah’s parents were completely helpless in this situation. In this episode, they focused on what every character in this show is going through. They even showed how worried Haaniyah’s mother and Ahsan’s were for Haaniyah and her reaction to the news of her marriage with Ahmed.

It might be a slow episode but I did not get bored even for a bit and I am glad Samina got less screen space this time. Samina is back in Ahsan’s house to create more problems for everyone. She is truly the most annoying character in the show!

I must add that I find Soniya Hussain really pretty and she has the most beautiful smile. She just needs to tone down her acting a bit otherwise she is perfect! I even love her overall look, especially her hairstyle in the show.

The Humsafar background music in this show was a total turn off for me. I wish they had not added it! My whole attention diverted from the scene to the background music.

I was expecting the wedding to happen in this episode but now hopefully, it will happen next week. It will be interesting to see how the story will progress now.

I would love to hear your views about the episode, so do not forget to comment!

Woh Episode 1 – A Promising Start

0

Woh is the first drama serial of its kind, which means that it will set the precedent for any upcoming horror dramas in the future. I am a big fan of horror shows but usually make belief scary creatures never scare me in the true sense of the word. I find plots revolving around demons, ghosts or black magic more chilling because such stories seem more believable. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a horror drama but the names attached to the show seemed very promising which made me give it a go. Angeline Malik has directed the show, it has been written by Syed Atif Ali and it has been produced by Angelic Films. I must appreciate Angeline Malik for coming up with innovative ideas; The Kitni Girhein Baaki Hei series was the first series of its kind too. Apart from that Shamoon Abbasi is the director of photography and he seemed quite happy with the work that the team had done. This first installment was perfect in every way; the horror factor was definitely there, the story sounded very realistic, the introduction to the characters was done very well, the scenes were short and to the point and by the end of the episode I felt like there was more to the story.

woh1

The first episode opened with a very well put together horror scene in which Mehr the main protagonist is woken up by a nightmare; a dead woman in a grave asks her to rescue her, the woman perhaps is the one who has possessed her. Every time Mehr is about to get married the evil spirit that has possessed her retaliates and for some reason or the other the marriage is called off. The turn of events is not different this time around too; very soon the marriage is called off. Everything about the first scene was perfect except that when Mehr’s mother was thinking about what will happen next, it did not sound like Rubina Ashraf at all but it sounded like Angeline Malik.

woh4

Arij Fatima surprised me with her acting in this episode; she most certainly outdid herself while playing a very difficult character. Her body language of a dead person walking when she is Mehr and not the possessed being was perfect. Her eyes were expressionless and her body was stiff like she wasn’t a real person. Mehr’s sister in law does not believe in supernatural beings, she thinks that Mehr should be taken to a psychiatrist. Despite of direct evidence of the presence of a supernatural being in the house, she is not convinced. I really liked her character because there are many people who think the way she does so that makes the story more relatable.

woh2

Mehr’s mother decides that from now on she will inform people about Mehr’s condition before going ahead with the proposals. Things finally fall into place and Mehr gets engaged to Faisal (Shamoon Abbasi) who has a little girl. Saba, the little girl is very spoiled but this side of her character could have been shown in a better way.

woh5

The scene at the mazar where Mehr’s brother meets the mystery man and the one afterwards in which he is on the roof when he is trying to find out more about Mehr’s condition was very well done.

woh6

Woh appears to have a lot of potential, the direction, camerawork, background score, acting and the plot seems perfect for a horror drama. If you are tired of watching dramas based on the same themes; shadi shuda zindagi being our writer’s favorite, then this is a must watch for you. And even if you like the saas bahu jhagra stories, this one will definitely leave a good taste in your mouth. But if horror themes are not your cup of tea then you should most certainly give it a pass because it definitely is scary. It is one of those dramas that make you want to pen down your thoughts.

Darmiyan Episode 3- Farishtay’s unfortunate past!

0

This episode was not as fast paced as the last one but it was still good and kept me hooked. The drama just keeps on getting more interesting. Farishtay’s unfortunate past is finally revealed. Raheel did not marry Farishtay because he doesn’t trust her. Just because he saw Farishtay talking to her neighbor, Raheel left her. The neighbor was actually apologizing for his behavior but things didn’t go well. Raheel insulted Farishtay in front of  everyone. He had no right to  do so. If he’s really that conservative, why did he take Farishtay out for lunch? Why didn’t he wait for just 3 more days and take her out after marriage?

D8

I absolutely hated the neighbor’s talk. One says she already had an affair with someone and the other says he saw her with guys a lot of time. Seriously? The landlord getting into the house with a bunch of guys, doing a lot of damage and threatening them to leave the house or else they’ll burn Farishtay alive was as out of fire in frying pan. This is unbelievable! Farishtay hasn’t even done anything and yet the whole family has to suffer for something they never did! This is just sick!

D2

Farishtay had gone to her best friend, Mehwish, with some hope but Mehwish is helpless as well! I felt bad how Mehwish’s husband was forcing her not to meet or help Farishtay.

D5

One thing I still don’t understand is how is Qaiser Naqvi related to Aliya? Aliya calls her khala but is she her real khala or not? Aliya left in Mehran but reached the mental hospital in a Corolla. I think the director needs to be extra careful!

Farishtay’s mother couldn’t tolerate any more and so she passed away. They had already suffered a lot. I actually thought that Farishtay died but Farishtay is still alive. I felt so sad for Farishtay. She hasn’t even done anything and yet she has to suffer for something she hasn’t done. Her mental state is not normal anymore. She doesn’t even recognize Aliya and she is still in her past. She still thinks she’s getting married to Raheel!

D4

Aliya’s hatred for Raheel just keeps on increasing and she desperately wants a revenge! Raheel is leading a happy life with Nida and two adorable kids. Raheel doesn’t know but Aliya has been stalking him.

D3

Nida giving ad for the helper in the newspaper was exactly what Aliya needed to get into their lives and take revenge. Aliya has seen that ad in the newspaper and she has planned everything. Who was that guy who asked Aliya in the end what she wants to do now and she said barbaad. He took Aliya to Farishtay as well.

I think that the writer hasn’t been good in introducing some other characters. Overall, it was a good episode! All the actors acted really well! The direction was good as well. I can’t wait for the next episode! Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best!

Alia Khan

Anil Kapoor will soon be doing an Indo-Pak Film-Coming to Pakistan!

0

Just after the success of Pakistani drama industry in not only in Pakistan but across the world, Pakistan has now earned enough of name to be a subject of Indian movies in good aspects. It has been seen that these days it is becoming more like a trend that filmmakers are coming up with the ideas of joint efforts been taken from the two controversial countries, that is, India and Pakistan and offer the much alike audience an Indo-Pak venture. A new name in the list is the RajKumar Santoshi’s upcoming movie which will be reaching out to cinemas by the mid of 2014.

49683

Santoshi, while sharing his future moves with the Indian media stated that it is his dream project to make an Indo-Pak movie which would help spreading the feeling of love and friendship across the border. For this, he is even done with the cast of the lead roles and Anil Kapoor, a veteran Indian actor, is all ready to play the lead. Anil Kapoor recently praised the Pakistani talent and acting skills of Hina Dilpazeer and with the news of Anil doing an Indo-Pak movie, his fans within Pakistan are more than delighted.

To add more in the project, Santoshi has bought the rights of the play ‘Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhya Woh Jamiya Nahin’ as its primary script. Like all other precious movies from this filmmaker, it is highly expected that the untitled movie will be a high budgeted movie which will attract the patriotic audience from both the countries.

Anil Kapoor, when asked about the said project and his views towards visiting Pakistan, Anil showed his gratitude and stated that he will soon visit  Pakistan and it is most likely to expect that his daughter Sonam Kapoor will too accompany him in the journey.

Let’s hope that Santoshi’s dream bring success to the idea which has often suffered in the past when it comes to a joint project of Indo-Pak.

Rishtey Kuch Adhoorai Se – Sharp turn in Story

0

This is only serial which is liked by me nowadays.Even after going through that conservative set up of Giti’s family,I feel so lively after watching every episode of Rishtey kuch Adhoorai se . Every scene of this serial is very well edited; all characters are doing justice to their roles and till now story is going well.

Giti’s sole purpose of life is to meet Rahat Fateh Ali. And when she came to know that he is coming to her city to take auditions of some singing reality show, she was unable to cease herself from going and meeting him.

But before her meeting, she knew that she has to go through many cumbersome phases. She pledged to her mother that it’s her first and last wish to meet Rahat before getting married. At first, her mother wasn’t ready but when these ladies came to know that only man of their house won’t be at home for two days, they got excited. Giti was considering herself to be most fortunate woman on earth but who knew that this step will lead her towards unending pain for her life.

Kiran asked her friend to make all necessary arrangements for Giti’s audition and meeting with Rahat and then Giti left for audition. Meanwhile, Arsalan’s family members were gearing themselves up  for very first wedding in their family.Only one person wasn’t happy with this marriage and that was Alia.

Alia’s character is quite strange in this serial.I mean what type of sister is she? She is playing double standards with her own parents. All she is doing is faking everything up to the worst possible level and making situation wicked for everyone. But Her family members are more stubborn then her and for that, they declared that Arsal’s marriage with Giti won’t be cancelled at any cost. Her perverse attitude is not at all liked by her parents and her next plan was to take her GrandMa in confidence and ask her to stop this marriage as this maariage will ruin Alia’s so called married life.

Daadi got seriously ill on her way to Karachi and all she wanted to see is Arsal’s wedding and for that she requested his son for Arsal’s Nikah.

Now comes the twisting part,Giti’s mother was already worried as Giti didnot returned home till Maghrib.Kiran was making fun and wasnot taking this matter seriously. But as soon as Kiran’s father came home a day earlier than expected, both of them had a serious panic attack. He announced that Arsal’s family is coming today for Nikah and I cant delay it for any reason Maine Zubaan Dai Di hai

Every single dialogue delivery, expression and editing was done flawlessly when Kiran was calling her friend to ask Giti to come back home and her friend disconnected the call. Worried mother and scared sister’s emotions were portrayed at their peak during those last 7 mins of today’s episode.10 on 10 for great job by Yumna Zaidi and Irsa Ghazal.

Next episode’s preview has narrated everything that will happen next. What will be the future of  Giti and Arsal ? Will Arsal be able to accept Kiran as his wife ? For all that and many more, keep on reading.

Khoya Khoya Chand – Episode 3

0

Well, this episode was all about Aarib attempting to avoid Ahmereen. Aarib and Angabeen share a nice bond. Despite of all this, everytime Aarib comes across Ahmereen, he feels so much uncomfortable and to keep himself away from her, all he do is to speak to her as much badly as he can. His attitude is not at all liked by Ahmereen and for this reason she has now developed a sense of enmity for him.

Unlike typical husbands,Aarib did not take it seriously when Ahmereen asked her Khala about Angabeen and Farooqs marriage. But Farooq took it seriously and advised Ahmereen that she should be careful while choosing her words before speaking.`Her this statement could have arose a serious problem for them but luckily,it did not.

It is natural that if somebody is all over you then even if we try not to think about that particular person, our mind leads us to the hallway of one`s thoughts and imaginations. So was the case with Aarib but every time he thinks of Ahemereen , his prestigious relation with Ahmereen comes in his mind and he recollects himself strongly.

Another noticeable part of today`s episode was Farooq and Ahmereen friendly attitude with each other. In this society of ours, friendly relation among cousins is seen with pessimistic eyes. Now, everyone is arising questions regarding Farooq and Ahmereen`s relation though they don’t have any feelings for each other. Ahmereen`s happy-go-lucky nature will lead her towards some serious trouble someday.

Considering the fact that Farooq and Angabeen were once interested in each other, Angabeen is feeling guilty as if she is betraying her husband. I really liked Aarib`s loyalty towards Angabeen and vice versa as they both prayed to Allah to keep themselves away from doing such acts that can ruin their marital life.

Anagbeen and Aarib will be living all alone in Murree now. I am waiting for the episode when Aarib will get completely recover from Ahmereen`s thoughts and will live wholly for Anagabeen.Else, there could also be some twists and turns in this serial that are still unfolded.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 19 – Review

0

This week’s episode was fully loaded with emotions and I was totally hooked till the end as one twist came after the other. It was already revealed in the promos that the accident would result in the death of two important members of Maryam’s family. The scene where Zayaan takes Maryam to her house was brilliantly acted out by all the family members, especially Ayeza Khan. The initial shock and then the breakdown were brilliantly executed by Ayeza. Hats off to her!

photo (5)

After watching the preview last week, I knew that Zayaan’s ‘solution’ to the problem would be to marry Faiza and he finally expressed his desire to marry her. What Zayaan was not expecting was Faiza’s reluctance to marry him, he thought that she would agree instantly but he was in for a shock. Faiza asked time to think about this and this made Zayaan anxious and worried. He did not even think once about Maryam and the trauma she had just gone through. He said ‘De Dunga Maryam Ko Taluq’ like it was no big deal. Oh I just pity his selfish thinking!

photo (4)

Faiza was purposely making Zaayan wait as she herself said ‘The ball is in my court now’ and I agree the ball is really in her court now. She was taking revenge from Zayaan for what he had done to her by taking her sweet time to say yes. It was obvious that she had no intention to say no to Zayaan’s offer.

photo (7)

“Tumhe Haasil Karne Ke Liyeah Bohat Mehnat Ki Hai, Yeh Mauka Haat Se Nahi Jaane Dungi”

She was just appeasing her bruised ego which had suffered a lot because of Zayan and I actually enjoyed Zayaan’s anxiety and impatience. He had done wrong with Faiza by jilting her on their Mehndi and I was glad she was getting back at him now. Now he needed her to be in his life and not the other way round.

Maryam had a tiny ray of hope that Zayaan’s attitude would change after the huge incident that happened in her life, but she was again left disappointed. He did not contact her even once after the incident as he was busy trying to make Faiza agree for the wedding.

Nusrat finally showed a bit of humanity when she immediately informed Zayaan about the death in Maryam’s family. She actually felt sympathy for Maryam for the first time though she did not say anything but it was evident from her face. Unfortunately, it did not last for long as soon as she overheard Zayan proposing Faiza she was on top of the world. Nusrat and Afshah both were busy gloating about this and were convinced that Faiza would never say no to this proposal. I feel that Zayaan and Nusrat should have at least thought about Aashiya and her future. Only Afshah mentioned her, Nusrat and Zayaan did not pay heed to her at all.

“Ab To Tum Mere Bohat Saare Roop Dekhoge”

This dialogue spoken by Faiza to Zayaan after their marriage brought a huge grin to my house. Zayaan will finally see Faiza’s true face and she is surely going to give him a tough time. Zayaan is used to a submissive wife like Maryam and he would never be able to bear Faiza’s dominating attitude because it will bruise his huge male ego.

photo (2)

Lastly, I really liked the message this show gave to women. Many women suffer from Breast Cancer and they usually ignore their illness until the very end and are diagnosed in the last stages of their disease, when it is impossible to treat.

Maryam and her family were happy to hear that she had fought cancer and now her reports were all clear. Maryam will surely get a huge shock in the next episode when she finds out about Zayaan and Faiza’s marriage.

I am looking forward to see what will happen next!

Do share your opinion about the episode!

Till Next Week!

Telefilm Daam-e-Ishq on Geo TV-See Pictures

0

After going through a rash time in terms of ratings and viewership, Geo TV is now back to the track with the airing of local content, trying hard to get a hold of its lost audience by offering them their favorite celebrity dramas like Numm, Kasak Reh Gayi, Asmaano par Likha and much to this, even a telefilm-Daam-e-Ishq.

We did share the news in Ramadan about the telefilm and predicted its airing as an Eid special but seems like the channel had other plans to cash the idea in a best possible way. If you are back to Geo TV and following the channel, you must have seen the promos of this upcoming telefilm starring Nauman Ejaz, Sana Fakhir, Sana khan, Ayesha Khan(Snr), Adnan Shah Tipa & Mani Chao. The telefilm is presented by Junaid Ahmed khan while the productions has been done by Nuzhat Fatima Khuhawar & Atif Usmani. The telefilm is written by Shumaiel Akbar & Junaid Khan and the music is done by Kalyaan.

The promos much reveal about the life of a famous celebrity (Naumaz Eijaz) who experiences a sudden downfall in his career which becomes difficult for him to absorb. His wife (Sana) keeps on consoling her but her words make no difference to his failure.

The story seems nothing new but a mixture of previous scripts which we have been watching on and off.

Here are a few clicks of the celebrities on the set of Daam-e-Ishq.

Have a look!

Starting his career in India with the movie ‘Tere Bin Ladin’, Ali has been doing a real good job as an actor and is getting a hold of some major roles in all his projects which is unlike to all other Pakistani actors who are seen doing supporting roles in Bollywood movies.

Yeh Shaadi Nahi Hosakhti Episode 13 & 14 – Sikander’s Flop Plan!

0

The week’s episode revolved around the reaction of Badi Ammi and Dadi Jaan upon seeing each other in the same house and how Sikander dealt with the whole situation. Overall, the episodes were full of entertainment as one twist unfolded after the other.

Just when Sikander was about to execute his plan, Badi Ammi gave Sikander a huge shock when she handed him the list of the guest that had to be invited to live with them in the house. The best scene was Hamza’s reaction to this news! Hassan Ahmed has excellent comic timing (as I have said many times before!) and he never ceases to amaze me with his outstanding expressions.

photo(8)Waseem Abbas was equally entertaining in the episodes. I really love his character; Jolly and full of life. His Punjabi accent, expression and dialogue delivery all are just perfect! All his dialogues are so well written by the writer, I thoroughly enjoy each one of them.

photo(9)Anjum Shehzad has done a fantastic job with the direction of this show. I loved the way he created suspense among the viewers by not showing what happened after Badi Ammi and Dadi Jaan confronted each other. Sikander narrated the whole event to Hamza and these scenes were my favourite scenes in the two episodes. Sikander’s plan turned out to be a huge flop and Hamza and Chachu left no chance to laugh at his situation. The bonding between these three is just perfect!

photo(6)After their confrontation, Sikander and Alishba both were back to square one. Both the Dadi’s showed their stubbornness and again refused to give permission for Alishba and Sikander’s marriage. Sikander convinced Badi Ammi with a bit of emotional blackmailing but the demand she kept was enough to make Sikander pull out his hair. Sikander was busy dealing with her Badi Ammi while Alishba was trying to convince her Dadi Jaan who was a harder nut to crack. The two Dadi’s might be poles apart but surprisingly, they kept the same demand. I am glad that they did not drag this track and both of them got convinced soon.

photo(4)Sikander’s fake apology was a bit over the top and I am still wondering how Dadi Jaan got convinced by this apology. Well, I have no complains here. I am really glad she finally agreed to the marriage. I was kind of tired of watching every one trying to convince her again and again.

I was glad to see that the story had finally moved forward to the next phase. From now on, we will get to see the bonding between the two families and how they will adjust with each other. The scene where the two families were singing and dancing together was a pure delight to watch.

Once the tension was over, we also saw some cute scenes between Alishba and Sikander. Previously, whenever they used to meet their only topic for discussion were their family problems. It was refreshing to see them care free and enjoying each other’s company. Mohib and Urwa have really good chemistry and their scenes are always a delight to watch.

Soni and Ahmed Nafees had instantly bonded in their first meeting; there are surly going to be more interesting scenes between these two in the coming episodes. I also see a future track between Chachu and Durre. I am really glad that Durre finally gave up with her scheming in the end! Though I doubt Ahmed Nafees would give up anytime soon.

One thing that I have found distracting is Mohib’s hair in this show. In some scenes, his hair looks absolutely fine but in other scenes, it resembles some bird’s nest. All my attention diverts from the scene to his disastrous hairstyle! He really needs to do something about them. Compared to this, his hairstyle in Kaash Aisa Ho was much better!

Till Next Week!

Numm – Episode 02

0

I have to say that I liked the first episode of Numm much more than this second installment. Tonight’s episode was too slow for my liking and the fact that there was a lot of Neelam in this episode did not help at all. Not only is Kanza Wyne overacting but sometimes it is very difficult to understand what she is saying. The only question that kept on ringing in my head was that why was Bare Sahab putting up with all the batameezi and asking Wali Bakht to do the same? Has it got something to do with acquiring more wealth or does marrying his grandson to Neelam gives him some kind of a political edge or has it got something to do with blood ties? Bare Sahab’s character is very interesting, on one hand he is very authoritative and on the other he comes across as very friendly and progressive. The girl playing Neelam’s sister cannot utter a single line properly and the scenes with her in them were definitely worth forwarding. There are many good actresses that age who could have performed this character very well. Even though the character is rather insignificant but these small details make a huge difference.

Numm2

Neelam is a muun zor ghori for sure; no wonder the only person she actually gets along with and wants to be with is Amtul. Amtul just like Neelam is an outcast, not only this she is also the only person in the house who did not have anything to do with Neelam’s marriage to Wali Bakht. Besides that, we already found out in the last episode that Neelam doesn’t really get along with normal people around her which is probably the reason why she had to befriend a tree. What has Neelam’s life been till now? Why is she the way she is? I hope we find out soon because she is not just upset because of the forced marriage but she has some serious issues otherwise as well.

numm3

The only mystery that was revealed in tonight’s episode was that Mahjabeen was married to Wali Bakht based on the tradition of Vani, although usually younger girls are married to older men normally to settle disputes but Sikandar Bakht clearly told Wali Bakht that Mahjabeen was not his wife but just “Vani”. I couldn’t understand anything in the flashback scene in which the panchayat gives the judgment because of the overpowering background score. So I am very eagerly waiting to find out that what were circumstances under which Wali Bakht and Mahajbeen got married.

Numm5

The only person I truly felt for after watching these two episodes was Wali Bakht but at the same time his laid-back attitude towards the entire situation and his reliance on the life of luxury was actually quite disturbing. But, it is also true that it isn’t that simple to break away from the system you have been raised in and are dependent on.

numm1

Fawad Khan’s acting was spot on as usual but he really should get rid of the brown leather jacket and also the cigarettes! Sania Saeed was brilliant in tonight’s episode; Mahjabeen is nothing like the Bari Sarkar she is playing in Aseer Zaadi but a viewer can’t help but appreciate her acting skills in both the roles. I must add though that I am not feeling for her character just yet, maybe because I need to find out more about her past. Usman Peerzada is fantastic too and Farah Shah could not have been better. In fact the only good thing about this latest episode was the performances. Everyone gave their best except for Kanza Wyne but that too is not her fault because she is a newcomer and she needs a lot of time to brush up her acting skills. It is the fault of the producer who decided to choose her for playing this very important character and completely ruined it for the viewers. The dialogues in tonight’s episode were not powerful or intense at all. I can’t help but compare this play with Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi and I have to say that the dialogues in Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi are far more intense. Having said that, I must confess that you cannot judge a play on the basis of two episodes alone especially when the first episode was quite good. So, I will reserve my judgment for now.

numm 6

The main theme of the play definitely is to show the viewers how the feudal feel about women; how women are exploited at the hands of the high and mighty who are not outsiders but their near and dear ones. In my opinion, there was nothing extraordinary about this episode except for the excellent performances. The background score was very loud just like the last episode and it was very difficult to understand what was being said in many of the scenes.

‘Sawa 14 August’ ruling the Theatres after ‘Dhani’ !

0

Just like our film industry, even our theatres are grooming with every next play been presented to the audience. It was only few months back that we shared all about the play ‘Dhani’ where we saw Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani spreading their art of live acting in the theatre which was produced by Shaan and here we are again with a news which is surely an additional medal in the history of theatre in Pakistan.

1185216_642700505754032_1790521062_n

Been written by Anwar Maqsood, the play ‘Sawa 14 August ‘ is ruling the Arts Council-Karachi from August 14th and will be live till September 14th. The play is a result of joint collaboration of Geo TV and Jang Groups and is the third major theatre write-up of the said writer, first two being ‘Angan Tedha’ and ‘Pawnay 14 August’.

Showing their love and dedication towards Anwar Maqsood’s work, leading celebrities have been making their appearance in Art Council and recently it was Ali Zafar who finally took out some time from busy schedule to show his support for the idea been pen-down by Anwar Maqsood. The auditorium was all crowded and the singer-turned-actor sat on floor to watch the play. It was the same day when Humayun Saeed too was also present there.

It is surely a peace to see our entertainment industry flourishing,

Aunn Zara Episode 11 – Assumptions In The Air.

0

So that was another exciting episode with so much happenings. So much has transpired & no one knows how wrong they have been in their assumptions.

Aunn Zara, finally have broken the ice & have fallen completely for each other. Zara has left her rigidness & has given Aunn the edge to shower her with his love. She doesn’t mind it finally & Aunn is over the moon. I must say the bond is shown beautifully, not only between Aunn & Zara but also among all the other family members.

Jamshed Sahab has melted a bit too much in regards to ‘mohtarmma’. Flowers, chocolates & a personal visit. I loved how easily he opened up a little bit in front of Nighat & shared how he wanted only to be Zara’s father all these years. It’s a right time now when Zara is happily married & way too well-settled in her life & family, Jamshed has gotten an empty space & a void in his heart which he must fill. Nighat is the right choice for sure because they are opposites hence, the attraction.

Through out the drama, no doubt they have not left even a single relation to brag about it’s positivity but here they have taken a friendship to another level as well. Even though Manzar lacks intelligence but what’s commendable is how readily he is always there for Aunn & similarly, I like Jamshed’s friend too. He is always poking him about Nighat & telling him to do the right thing. I think Jamshed needs that push from someone on whom he relies emotionally. Like when Dada Jaan spoke to him about ‘mohtarmma’, he easily denied & backed out so to ease him at this matter specifically, his friend is the right person.

Ohkay, Aunn frustration got exposed a bit too loudly in front of every single lady of the family. Daadi is always in jitters whenever he yells. Husna was disgusted & disturbed at what she saw & Nighat has her solid reasons to be all antsy at Aunn. By the way before talking about anything else, I loved how Zara’s hair looked after they both were in a fist fight & the moment Husna came, I for sure laughed out loud at that moment. The whole scene was epic & has become the threshold point for everyone to notice/hate/detest/negate/discuss Aunn & his behavior.

Where Zara is fluttering like a butterfly & Aunn is putting forward his feelings with ease, where they both are enjoying each other & their relation as a bliss, they both are unaware of what has instigated behind their backs. There’s this thing called ‘Communication Gap’ & the whole scenario is depicting it like anything. I loved the scene where Aunn had to listen to each & every one’s frustration & had to go through rounds of ‘beizzati’. Loved the dialogues & how intelligently the confusion has been put together. It’s too good.

I absolutely enjoyed the whole episode like always but the best scene for me was that at a table where all the ladies were united & stood against Aunn & degraded him just because he hates ‘allu’. Mentioning that don’t hold yourself too high as you are one of Zara’s choices was such a cute notion discussed by Nighat. I loved the originality & the leg-pulling plus showing how everyone has easily forgotten what Aunn meant for them. For a change, it’s brilliant to see the female dominance in the house & especially how positive any female can be, how considerate a ‘saas‘ can be for her ‘bahu’. It was just so touching seeing Husna actually cry by the thought of what abuse Zara was going through. Zara has sur-passed Aunn in all the matters. So where Aunn has shared his years of glory, finally it’s Zara’s time now. Loved how bluntly Daadi & Ammi showed him his place…a big fat AWWW for him but never-mind. hehe!

Nighat should’ve been the last person to speak to Zara about ‘aurat’ ‘uske huqooq’ ‘mard ko qabu’ & ‘pyaar badal jata hai’. All those things fitted perfectly on Nighat herself but I just loved how they both were victims of strong assumptions along with communication gap & yet they both thought that they could benefit each-other by some sort of advises.

I loved this episode as it was the most happening one of all, after quite a few episodes. Story has progressed a bit but loved how nicely everything was put in it’s place. I enjoyed the dialogues & all those conversations, that ‘muh pairhaa hoye te gall changi karya kar’ & ‘Zara sungarh gai aye’. What a treat. Like always a huge round of applause to the whole team. They’re the best.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Kankar Episode 13 – Sweet Lies

0

What is more important? Love or respect? Normally one cannot imagine a relationship in which two people are in love but fail to give each other the respect that should come automatically. But it is also true that there are many times when a person loves another but cannot respect other person’s individuality. Respecting your spouse’s individuality is just as important as loving them because love alone can sometimes be very egocentric; you may want the person you love to do exactly what you want and that is when you fail to see them as an individual and do not give them the space they need. That is exactly the problem with Sikandar, although he thinks that Kiran has a big ego but the fact is this that he is the one who wants to control Kiran because he “loves” her – what a twisted logic but it makes perfect sense.

 k2

The sweet lie Kiran told her father to assure him that she had a perfect life because she knew that he could not handle the truth was heart wrenching. She also tells Sikandar that she wanted him to attend her sister’s wedding although if she had a choice she would stay away from the man who claims to love her but does not respect her for longer. Despite of all her majburis the conversation Kiran had with Sikandar was very honest. The exchange of messages between Sikandar and Kiran and the conversation they had later was absolutely perfect. It is good to see a girl on screen who can take a stand for herself’ she is willing to give her husband a second chance but she is not going to put up with a lifetime of abuse to please her family or to stay in the marriage.

k3

The scene in the class where the professor and the students applaud Kiran for doing extraordinarily well in the assignment was very meaningful; it yet again went to prove that appearances are deceptive. No one knew the bitter secret behind Kiran’s success!

 k5

Rukhsar’s behavior towards her mother in law went to show that she has completely given up on her fiancé’s family. Her conversation with her colleague later showed how bitter and selfish she has become over the years and also she has started questioning whether getting married in her late 30s was something to look forward to.

 k4

The way Shaista dealt with the issue between Kiran and Sikandar was very disappointing but at the same time very believable too. She may have gone through the same mental torture that Kiran is going through but instead of protecting Kiran, she expects her to put up with it all because she had to put up with her husband’s abusive behavior so why should Kiran be any different? Apart from that Shaista also seems to be very convinced that Kiran should pay some kind of a price for being married into such a rich family. It is not just Kiran’s husband who does not respect her but she will never be able to make a place in her mother in law’s heart as well because she doesn’t have a rich background.

 k7

Waqar’s lecture on how things were between Sikandar and Kiran was a very good addition and another realistic aspect of Waqar’s personality. I have to say that all the characters in Kankar have been very well etched out and the drama is only getting better.

 k1

All the actors performed very well in today’s episode and some of the dialogues were very thought provoking. Umera Ahmed has raised a very important issue; women do not have to put up with abuse in the name of love or for financial security. They have the right to be respected and they do not need to be apologetic for expressing their opinions.

I am definitely looking forward to the next episode.

“Hina Dilpazeer is an ‘Art Diva’ “- Says Anil Kapoor

0

Pakistan is a country where you see all the talent existing and yet waiting for a platform. Thanks to the privatization in the entertainment sector, the emerging new channels have given the industry a real boost and have taken the entertainment world above its initial level. Now that the Pakistani content is getting a global exposure, even the celebrities outside the country are praising the quality of acting and versatility which are one of the significant attributes of the A-class actors of Pakistan.

original_Anil-Kapoor_471c4610dc346

Recognizing the power of Pakistani talent, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, recently appreciated the acting skills of the highly talented Hina Dilpazeer, the ‘Momo’ of Bulbulay. The actor stated that he is impressed by her acting which naturally comes out on screen as a reality, and for sure, this is truly a gift with which all the artists are not bestowed with.  He further praised her adaptability of different roles simultaneously and declared her as an ‘Art Diva’.

images

People who might not know much about him, it is more than a news that he is running an acting academy where he teaches his students the subject of acting and he disclosed to the media during the same interview that he motivates his students by presenting Hina Dilpazeer as a model.

It is more than a pleasure for all the Pakistani drama lovers that Pakistan has overpassed the reign of Indian dramas craze within the country and now it is the Pakistani content which is been admired by the world outside by known celebrities who have even won Oscars for their contributions in the field of acting.

Hina-Dilpazeer

We wish more power to Hina Dilpazeer,

Kadurat Episode 07 – Mina vs Alina

0

This was another episode of Kadurat in which Mina continued executing her plans to make her step family’s life miserable. The interesting thing is that no matter how evil Mina may be but she expects to be loved. The way she felt after she was rejected by Daniyal went to show that she longs to be loved and accepted despite of all her weaknesses. I find this part of Mina’s personality very relatable because every human being wants to be accepted by others and feels rejected and led down if he doesn’t get enough love, no matter what kind of a person he is. Girls who are either deprived of their father’s love in childhood or are overprotected tend to be the way Mina is; she tries to woo her psychiatrist, wants to marry Daniyal, gets hurt when Asad shows affection towards Alina and wants her father all to herself. What she does is a direct outcome of her insecurities and the yearning to be loved especially by the men in her life. It is almost as if she is trying very hard to fill a vacuum in her life. There’s a saying that goes like this “The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread” – that is so true!

k8

Atiqa has taken an about turn; the “I will save my family at any cost” demeanor did not last for long. She found it hard to tolerate Shaheen’s rude behavior and threats because she isn’t Mahmood’s daughter but Mina is allowed to cross all limits only because she is Atiqa’s step daughter. Giving her everything (and everyone!) she wants is not the solution of the problem especially when it involves another person as well. What makes Atiqa think that Daniyal will gladly agree to marry Mina? The part where Atiqa asked Alina to “sacrifice” was unbelievable. Mahmood’s reaction on the other hand was much more convincing.

k4

I breathed a sigh of relief when Daniyal and Alina talked about their problem and managed to sort them out. That was definitely the way things should have been. Had this engagement ended because of what Mina did, it would not have been relatable at all. Junaid Khan’s hairstyle in the scene in which he is talking to Alina to convince her that he wanted her in his life was terrible.

k9

The scene in which Shaheen tries to woo Mahmood was definitely very distasteful and awkward. The story could have easily moved forward just as well even if this particular track was not added in it. The scene after this one in which Mahmood walks in on Mina while she is taking some pills seemed like it came out of nowhere. There were a few other scenes as well that seemed like a case of a poor execution, like Alina walking in when Daniyal and Mina are together. That particular scene could have been done well.

k33

Sanam Saeed’s performance was flawless yet again all through this episode. She was especially brilliant in the scene in which she meets the psychiatrist and tells him about his suicide attempt. I found it somewhat unbelievable that everyone except Asad fell for Mina’s fake suicide story. Nida Khan performed well in few of the scenes but in most of the scenes she was completely expressionless. Mina is actually contemplating killing Alina; which is a very scary thought!

k1

The preview of the next episode suggested that Atiqa is finally going to pay a price for her wrong attitude towards the problems her children are facing because of Mina. This latest episode was very happening like always but like all the previous episodes the surprise element was missing because we already saw in the preview what was coming our way. This time around as well, the main twist in the next episode was revealed in the preview! Sanam Saeed makes this show a treat to watch; her performance has been very powerful throughout.

Most Watched Pakistani Reality Show – Living On the edge

0

Living on the Edge is the only Pakistani reality show other then dance and singing competitions, which involves physical tasks, some drama, cat fights, many more spices and most important of all “BREAKING NEWS”.

Complete setup of this show is in hands of Waqar Zakka, who messes up this show as much as he can.He has somehow tried to generate copy of Indian reality show Roadies and a part from Splittsvilla. I have watched two of the seasons of Waqar’s show and came to know that his level of making this show popular is far low as compared to any other reality show.

untitled88

I found his show quiet abnormal like audition episodes are prolonged more than necessary whereas main tasks take  7 or 8 more episodes after auditions. And in these 7 or 8 episodes ,we are still unable to watch properly formatted and well compiled show rather, a cat fight takeover whole of the episode sometimes. Also, 5-6 people get eliminated at once and more than that the unending finale.. arghhhhhh..  last season’s finale seemed as if it will never end. Even after announcement of ultimate Prince and Princess Waqar raised many twists and turns..seemed as if he is not willing to give prize money to the contestants.

This time, Waqar has created another drama. Firstly, he put Aroosa in limelight for mirch masala and cat fights.

Capture20-300x217

When show was about to come to end ,he stopped the show claiming that people are saying that Finale contestants are totally incapable of being in the finale and then he raised messaging campaign through which he tried to earn handsome amount of money. And after that very day till now, we didnot hear any news about Living On the Edge Finale. I guess, it was Waqar’s strategy to make this season that way. He earned much , and when the turn of giving away the prize money came, he arose silly issues. Else, this could also be a possibility that he doesn’t get much amount through his show this time and he tried to get more amount through that messaging trick so that he can collect the prize money atleast and then come up with the finale.. :p

Poor Pakistanis still enjoy this show as this is the only so called cool kind of reality show and one of its own kind in Pakistan..

Till then Sayo Nara,

Rabia Basharat.

Abdul Razzaq and Tamanna – Another couple ?

0

From social and electronic media, I have came across this news and want to share it with my readers that Abdul Razzaq and Tamanna Bhatia Indian Model and Actress, are in serious relationship. I want to add up here that our cricketer , Razzaq, is already married and leading a very nice life with two kids. On the other side, Razzaq and Tamanna were also caught in Dubai,in Feb 2013, while launching a jewelry shop together.

Abdul-Razzaq-To-Marry-Indian-Actress-Tamanna-Bhattia-Truth-Or-Rumor

All I know previously was that Tamanna and Viraat Kohli are in relationship. And now suddenly this news shocked me.Further, Why Razzaq wants to get married again to Tamanna if he is having a perfect family and  living a prosperous life.Is this common man psychology that man should have more than one wives or is he trying to follow the footsteps of our Former cricketer Imran Khan and and  Shoaib Malick? Oh yeah, who can forget Waseem Akram who recently got married to an Australian lady. It seems that it has now become a trend to bring one foreigner wife.. :P

I am confused about Tamanna that what is she trying to do with her life? Is she not feeling secure with Viraat Kohli ? I mean, he is such a famous cricketer, who earned such a huge fan following in such a small time. Comapred to Razzaq, Kohli is a bachelor, more young and has a long way to go. Razzaq is getting older plus  he is already married  than what is making her attracted towards Razzaq? Is that the same attraction that attracted Sania towards Shoaib ? :P

No matter what, I am strictly against this relationship. I hope that this would be just a rumor and I would be proved  wrong or their relationship has ended.

Keep on reading,

Regards,

Rabia Basharat

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 03.

Sadly not much of a progress this week as well. Even though I am still interested in the drama but really want the story to move forward. Fortunately, there weren’t such repetitions in the dialogues this time but a fact again was established that Narmeen’s a negative person & everyone else is good.

Areeba’s probing was moved to another level where she thinks it’s her duty to poke & provoke Arham. All this while, I thought to myself that why isn’t anyone paying a heed to her growing interest in Arham but thank God, his mother spoke about it to her husband. She understood the interest Areeba is showing in him which for sure is a notch higher than the others. His family is laid back in his matter but Areeba seems too keen. Narmeen has gotten hold of Areeba’s feelings therefore she is openly taunting her about the situation.

It was kind of odd that given the history Narmeen has shared with Arham, she was a bit too eager to make his room for him without even been scared of being judged. Obviously, anyone would judge her for her level of utmost interest that she is showing towards him. If she wants to take responsibility like she mentioned in front of Shahiq, then she could’ve started off with any other thing in the house, but why Arham’s room to begin with?

I hope it’s not the case in this drama where they keep on procrastinating the main issue & reveal it by the end of the last episode? I hope they finally start revealing what actually happened & what changed his life. Arham’s sudden outbursts are getting really annoying & Areeba’s saint-mode-on tactics aren’t appeasing to see either. She just looks like someone curious who doesn’t know how to mind her own world.

During this episode, there was a little discussion done on Arham & his religious side, where it was revealed that Shakeel actually supported him in his choices of life whereas mother didn’t approve of such devotion which he had. But it’s sad that the support has flipped for Arham, where his father is against him but mother still believes that what she saw wasn’t a complete reality.

I think the viewers are done with making guesses & actually want to know what happened. Even though the cast is so strong & the plot is amazing too but we want to know which thunderbolt hit the happy family as I am sort of tired using my brains in trying to put the pieces of puzzles together.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Mere Humrahi Episode 3 – Ahmed Becomes ‘The Savior’

0

This week’s episode was relatively better than the last one. There were a few developments in the show this week though at a snail’s pace. The episode revolved around the two family’s reactions to the drastic steps taken by both Haaniyah and Ahad. I said this in my first review of this show that I find this show very filmy and I saw the filminess yet again in this episode. The reactions of all the family members to the news of Haaniyah’s attempt at suicide and then Ahad’s disappearance were full of the spiciness that we see in movies. I am not saying I disliked the scenes, I was really hooked to the scenes because the suspense and emotional quotient was increasing after each scene. I  still strongly believe that the episode should have been a bit fast paced.

I was disappointed yet again when I saw Samina’s scenes forcefully added in between the very intense and emotional scenes between the two families. I am completely unable to fathom why Samina is getting so much screen space at such a crucial point of the show. We already got enough of her dose last week, they could have waited for an episode or two for the next dose. One minute I am completely into the emotionally intense scene and the next minute, I get to see the completely spoilt Samina and the scenes between Samina’s brother Zaheer and his wife Afshah. These scenes were a huge turn off and if anyone of you has not seen the episode yet, I seriously recommend you to skip these scenes.

photo(29)I truly loved Munawar Saeed’s acting in this episode. He truly acted like a loving father would in such a situation and my heart truly went out to him. Even Ahsan’s (Khalid Malik) acting was pretty good in this episode. Even though I found the dialogues really filmy, I still thoroughly enjoyed the exchange of dialogues between the two families.

photo(24)The highlight of the episode for me was Fahad Mustafa’s performance. Ahmed was the most controlled and calm character in such a critical situation and kept peace between the two families. He logically attempted to find Ahad’s whereabouts instead of panicking like the rest. And in the end, he also came up with a solution to save the izzat of both families.

photo(27)I was not expecting Ahmed to get emotional all of a sudden and say ‘Main Karunga Haaniyah Se Shaadi’. I thought he would be pressurized by his parents to get married to Haaniyah. Here the case was different, he could not stand his parent’s humiliation and proposed the first solution that came to his mind. Fahad’s teary expression and dialogue delivery were just spot on and I could even blink during the whole scene. He is the main reason why I wanted to review this show in the first place.

I really liked the contrast they showed in Ahmed’s character. They showed in the previous episodes that Ahmed hated the mere mention of marriage and now he offered to marry Haaniyah himself. This shows that he understood the gravity of the situation and he tried to make amends for his brother’s grave mistake by asking for Haaniyah’s hand. He has always been the most responsible one in the family and even his parents were proud of his decision.

photo(25)Soniya Hussain’s acting was also up to the mark in this episode and I liked all her emotional scenes with her mother. We can judge from her current state that she really loved Ahad. At one point, she was regretting her decision to marry Ahad even when her father opposed it but then when her mother announced that the marriage is still on, she took a 360 turn and said that she knew Ahad wouldn’t leave her because he loves her a lot. I think her conflicting views were due to the emotional trauma she has been through otherwise any girl would not forgive a guy like Ahad so easily.

photo(26)The final verdict is that this show really needs to pick up some speed and they need to stop dragging the show. This show has potential and they really need to show it. And yes, they also need better editors. The editing was completely pathetic as there was no flow in the scenes.

We will see Haaniyah and Ahmed’s wedding in the next episode. I am still wondering how Haaniyah’s father would convince her for the marriage.

I would love to hear your views about this week’s episode, so do not forget to comment!

Till Next Week

Darmiyan Episode 2- Unexpected Twists!

0

One thing that I loved about this episode was that it was fast paced. The first episode was not that fast paced but this one was really fast paced which keeps my interest in the serial.

“Larkiyaan bhi kitni ajeeb hoti hain. Bare bare khwabon ko apni muthi main band karna chahti hain lekin jab muthi kholti hain to khalipan ke siwa kuch nahi hota.”

Syra Yousuf’s dialogue delivery has gotten so well! I loved this dialogue!

I was surprised to see Raheel’s mother agree so fast to meet Farishtay. I mean she’s telling Raheel that Farishtay is inferior to him and she has already asked for Nida’s hand but she agrees to meet Farishtay so fast.

“Qismat ki lakiron ki siyahi ko kaun mita sakta hai?”

I totally agree with this dialogue!

I loved Aliya’s and Farishtay’s cute little argument over what dress Farishtay should wear when Raheel and his mother come for Farishtay’s proposal.

Farishtay’s refusal to marry Raheel was very surprising for me. She didn’t even give any explanations to Raheel and his mother and just left. It looked very disrespectful!

Darmiyan 2

Raheel takes a step to ask Farishtay the reason for her refusal and she tells him that she has a lot of responsibilities and she doesn’t want to share them with anyone. Raheel meeting with an accident was another unexpected twist.

Farishtay realizes her mistake and decides to call Raheel. One thing I didn’t understand was how did she have Raheel’s number? She finds out about Raheel’s accident and leaves. She didn’t even tell her mom that she’s leaving. Aliya was trying to ask her where she’s going and why she looks worried but she just kept on running. Another thing that surprised me was that she wasn’t wearing a dupatta.

She breaks down on seeing Raheel (even though he has no injuries) and hugs him which was pretty unexpected.

“Yeh aarzi sahara nahi chahye!”

“Main rah kabhi nahi badloon gi, Raheel.”

Darmiyan 4

When Raheel drops Farishtay home there is this guy standing next to Farishtay’s door. Raheel asks Farishtay who he is and Farishtay says she doesn’t know. He looks very creepy!

I think that the marriage is taking place to early!

Darmiyan 3

It was funny how Raheel came on the mayoon, his face hidden in a dupatta and sat next to Farishtay. When he unveiled his face, everyone got surprised. His mother tells him to go and he goes after making Farishtay eat sweet with his hand. That was sweet! :) This is my favorite scene from the episode.

It was cute how Raheel wished Farishtay birthday. They make a cute couple.

I can’t believe that Raheel suspected Farishtay when that creepy guy threw that letter. I was definitely surprised to see Raheel’s mother taking Farishtay’s side and telling him that maybe he’s wrong. I thought she would be like ‘I told you before that you should marry Nida’ or something like that. She tells Raheel that Farishtay can’t do that but Raheel wouldn’t marry Farishtay until he knows the “truth”. The episode ends with Farishay being heartbroken and Raheel comes to talk to her.

Overall, it was a good episode, full of surprises and twists. The acting, direction, background music and everything was good. I loved the episode!

Will Raheel find out the truth? Will he marry Farishtay? Can’t wait to see what happens next! Share your views guys!

Rishtey Kuch Adhoorai Sai – A well Packaged serial (Episode 1 & 2)

I ,usually, find Sundays so boring as there is nothing to watch on tv.There was not even a single drama serial  that was liked by me in the recent past. But I am glad to announce that Hum tv has finally started a drama serial Rishtey Kuch Adhoorai Se after Humnasheen and I can say that my sundays wont be boring anymore.

Story of this drama serial shows various shades of life. Geeti (Sohai Abro) and Kiran (Yumna Zaidi) are daughters of a father whose rules and regulations are everything for him.His rules and regulations somehow made him a very strict and typical type of husband yet, he is a very nice and understanding father. His wife (Irsa Ghazal), is a lovely lady whose hidden talent ,singing, was left far behind because of his husband’s rude and strict attitude.

13768416974ae2d-original-1The elder one, Geeti, is a shadow of her mother where as the younger one,Kiran,is a stubborn and pampered girl like any other younger child in a family. From her mother, Geeti inherited talent of singing and sole purpose of her life seems to be “A meeting with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan”.Sohai Ali has done complete justice to her role and finally after a long time I have seen “Smiling Sohai” in this serial. Her character is completely complimenting her personality and I love every time I watch that light chit-chat between two sisters.

Geeti goes to a cousin’s wedding where she sings a beautiful song and that was the first time when Arsalan saw her and falls for her completely.

Arsalan comes from a very nice elite family and his overall personality was shown well balanced in the serial. The actor,Ali Rehman , is making is debut in this serial and I want to add up an applause for him  in my review. His acting skills are commendable and he sounds as if acting is not taking any efforts from him.

Arsalan’s mother was  worried for his marriage but every time his mother shows him some pictures or talk about some girls, he hates it. But after meeting Geeti,he was all hers and her mother’s mental torture finally came to an end.Arsalan’s sister , played by Arjumand, is assigned with a grey shade character. Her sister in law is interested in Arsalan but Arsalan said a big NO to her sister for this purposal and like typical In laws, they are unable to digest a rejection from them and finally Arsalan’s sister was thrown out of her house. By the way, I am pretty sure that she wont be a good nand of Geeti as she was initially worried for her brother Arsalan’s marriage and now after Arsalan has chosen the girl, she has started to act like typical mohallai waali aunties.. :P

Talking about, Arsalan and his family visit at Geeti’s place, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. The expressions of both , Arsalan and Geeti, were flawless and perfect. The way Arsalan presented tea to Geeti and Geeti, acting like pure eastern lady, ran away ,stole the limelight of episode.

Slide2

Even the overall aura created by director and performed by Geeti ,when Arsalan and his family leaves, was mesmerizing. Smile on Geeti’s face, her expressions and her way of talking said it all that she liked Arsalan.
