Everyone knows Mathira as the controversy queen who is always getting attention for all the wrong reasons but sometimes taking a look at a celebrity’s social media account can reveal more about him or her than any interviews they give or anything they do. Some stars use their instagram account only to post their pictures and these accounts are not so active but for some stars these accounts are like daily diaries where they post pictures and express their feelings at the same time too. Mathira is one such celebrity who appears to be very rough and tough on the outside but some of her instagram posts show that just like any other person Mathira wants love and is hurt when people around her let her down. She works hard to keep her relationships intact because if they fall apart then Mathira’s world falls apart too.
In her instagram posts Mathira uses hash tags like “#nooneknowsher” “#bestrong” “#coldwithin” which depict Mathira’s frame of mind very clearly. Mathira is someone who tries very hard to stay strong but there are times when she feels broken and hurt. Even in such times she tries to have a big heart and not hurt people she loves even if they hurt her. Mathira’s posts also show that there are many times when she feels that even people who love her do not understand her. Mathira also feels “used” by people she loves sometimes, in one of her posts she says, “she is a girl not a tissue”!
Here are a few instagram posts that will show a side of Mathira which many of us don’t know about. What do you see in these posts?
Pakistan is a country mired in pain, inflation and economic meltdown. There seems to be no end to the misery that has enveloped this nation and everyone has to downgrade their lifestyles while many have lost their savings in a year and a half. Government’s policies and constant crackdowns on political forces have destabilized the country completely and there seems to be no end to the dwindling of the economy in sight.
But there are still people who are not effected by the riding prices and even by their countrymen committing suicides. They have all the money in the world and they own big businesses and real-estate. Yes, having money and spending it in any way a person wants is no crime but flaunting this when your fellow countrymen cannot afford proper food is not a good omen. And this happened when a family from Sialkot celebrated their two year old baby’s birthday in a lavish manner.
Ace photographer Irfan Ahson covered the event and shared some glimpses on his page. Here is how the birthday was:
People are not happy and they are criticizing the show off at this birthday party. Many said that the birthday looks more like the mother’s wish rather than the little girl’s. Here is what the internet has to say:
While there are dramas whose title gets you guessing, their are some whose title will make you run away from them till your legs hurt. You’ll want to plug your fingers into your ears and close your eyes shut, so that you don’t get a glimpse of them as the promos run. Two new dramas of this season, have names that have made viewers cringe.
1. Sartaj Mera Tou Raj Mera_ Hum TV:
As if the name wasn’t enough, the promos have weird dialogues that can spoil my mood no matter how happy I am. Shagufta Ejaz’s character says,
Bahu ko sada suhagan rehne ki dua dena saas ke liye zaruri hota hai, kyun ke woh janti hai ke bahu ka suhag qayem rehne mein hi uss ke bete ki bhalai hai
There is a conversation between the two daughter-in-laws of this character. Take a look at their conversation.
Bahu A: Woh (saas) samajhti hain mein yahan raaj karne ayi hun.
Bahu B: Aur raaj tum karogi. Yeh dunya ka asool hai, jiska sartaj uska raaj.
It gets worse. There is an OST, which goes, “Sartaj mera tou raaj mera.” If any limit hasn’t been crossed yet, let me know!
I get it, we live in a country where these things are important in a woman’s life, but seriously drama makers need to break the norms. We have gone through this topic a zillion times and it’s about time the producers have some mercy on us.
And oh, there is a Bahu C as well!
The show starts on Monday, at 7:30 pm, replacing Susral Mera.
2. Susral Meri Behen Ka_ Geo TV:
I have never been an Indian show watcher but a lot them air on Pakistani channels so I am bound to catch a few glimpses of Saath Nibhana Sathiya (hideous really!) or Aahat (horror show or a comedy?). Plus there’s this big Sasural Simar Ka fan among my acquaintances and so I am kept informed about the latest developments in the show which, if I remember correctly, include a sau saala naag (100 year old snake) that transformed into a human(not kidding!). The point is, that a person who has grown up watching mature PTV dramas will never want to experience the pain of watching these overacted, stretched and poorly executed shows.
But our drama makers don’t seem to realize this. Bhui, jin ko Indian dramas dekhne hain, unko wohi dekhne do! What’s the use of transforming your own dramas into bolly-themed ones? Indians are appreciating our dramas and these people are hell bent on copying them.
Coming to Susral Meri Behn Ka, the promo has been done exactly the same way as Indian dramas. Don’t believe me? Have a look.
As the tally for COVID-19 patients in Pakistan soar, a number of celebrities too get affected by the virus. In Pakistan, joining the list of celebrities having contracted coronavirus, actresses Sakina Samo and Rubina Ashraf become the latest addition.
According to sources, both the actresses have gone into self isolation for 14 days in their respective homes. Family members of both Rubina Ashraf and Sakina Samo will now be tested for coronavirus.
Both the actors had been experiencing some symptoms of coronavirus, after which they decided to get tested. The reports of the tests recently came out positive.
Alongside Rubina Ashraf and Sakina Samo, Nida Yasir, Yasir Nawaz, Abrar ul Haq, Alizeh Shah, Noaman Sami and Maria Memom have tested positive for coronavirus amongst renowned Pakistani celebrities.
Love triangles and stories based of broken love have always been a favorite with our modern drama writers. Marital life and its never-ending issues and the saas bahu rivalry was our writers favorite topic for a very long time and therefore the focus of Pakistani drama serials for years.
When Maat went on air the writers took a little more inspiration from it than the viewers would have wanted them to and sisters rivalry became the core topic of many dramas. The trend changed with Yahan Pyar Nahi Hai; to the best of my knowledge that was the first drama of recent times in which the sisters’ (cousins) rivalry was taken to another level on our drama screens when Junaid Khan’s character decided to enter into a nikkah with Mawra’s character. In Dil-e-Muztar Adeel married Zoya after Silla walked out of his life. In both these instances the second wife was wicked and the first wife was shown as a better person to whom the hero will finally return.
After few such dramas which probably clicked with the viewers as well for some odd reason we saw a new twist in this story of the two wives; the writers decided that they were being unfair with the second wife by portraying her as a lesser human who the leading man always left in the end. As far as I can recall the trend of showing the second wife in a certain light started with the play Bari Apa. It was followed by Hamnasheen, Shukk, Ranjish Hi Sahi and currently Aahista Aahista.
Here are the “characteristics” of the second wife which are quickly becoming a norm in our dramas:
1. She is always younger, prettier and more docile than the first wife – Ayesha Khan in Bari Apa, Arij Fatyma in Hamnasheen, Mawra Hocane in Aahista Aahista, Yumna in Ranjish Hi Sahi (not younger but prettier and more docile) and Sanam Saeed in Shukk (maybe not prettier but definitely more docile!). I have seen promos of many shows on Geo Kahani and Geo as well in which the story seems to be pretty much the same, I can’t comment on the shows because I am not watching them on regular basis.
2. The writers go out of their way to make the second wife look like a bechari –In all these dramas the second wife was wronged in some way or the other. In Bari Apa Zubeida treated Neelam like a door-mat and therefore the viewers were supposed to feel for and side with her character. In drama serial Hamnasheen Ismat Ara married her husband with her own free will but she never let the new wife breathe in her own house and therefore the poor soul was seen crying all the time, In Aahista Aahista Sofia is already being unreasonable without even knowing the truth and Haya feels abandoned -yes forced becharapan all the way!
Do I even need to talk about the way Sehrish changed after she moved in with Shaam and his new wife? The way Sanya was portrayed as a bechari was beyond me but our writers somehow consider it their moral duty to speak for the cause of second wives!
3. The second wife will win the husband in the end because she is better than the first one – Since this is a competition so the good guy will always win. Like I said gone are the days when the husbands wronged their wives when they went behind their back and married someone else.
Even the husband is not remotely attracted to the second wife to begin with as was the case in Hamnasheen and now AahistaAahista but he will eventually end up falling in love with the finely crafted piece of art because the first wife quickly loses her charm when he finds a younger, prettier and more docile version of her! Sometimes men marry these women out of hamdardi like in Bari Apa and Shukk but gradually the hamdardi turns into love.
It isn’t just the second wife who has certain characteristics but the first wives in all these drama were pretty much the same too. Here is how our writers like to portray the first wife:
1.She is opinionated and confident –Zubeida in Bari Apa, Sehrish in Shukk, Bilquees in Ranjish Hi Sahi and Ismat Ara in Hamnasheen. Husbands of all these characters (except in RHS, which in my opinion is an exception here) were madly in love with their opinionated and confident wives before they met the docile and obedient second wives. These characteristics work against the first wives but only after their husbands find a second one!
There are times when I feel that the writers are trying to show that a man is always happy with a woman who is submissive, which is actually very sad. When the first wives were winning this race at that time they were portrayed as docile and now when the second wives have turned docile, they are winning the husband!
2. She will be made the villain when she resorts to cheap tactics to win her husband back! The second wife has taken the role which the saas was “allotted” at one time in our dramas! I hate the way women are being belittled in our dramas nowadays. The first wife will stoop lower than low to win her husband back and even then she won’t make a place in his heart but will only lose that precious little place she once had because of her conniving ways!
I understand the rage and hurt that a wife must feel when her husband goes behind her back and marries someone else and what is even worse is that these two women have to live under the same roof. Why doesn’t the first wife walk out of such a relationship? The answer is simple – our writers won’t have a story if they do!
Even writing all this down makes me feel sick; marriage is a very sacred institution but our writers are making a mockery of it by portraying it in this way. Every couple has problems, most normal people talk about these problems and sort them out. If every man starts looking for a second wife only because there are some temporary problems in the marriage then we will have a very dysfunctional society and family system. Wives are not objects which can replaced by a new one and portraying them like that is sickening.
The stories based on instances where men marry another woman out of pressure are wrong on so many levels too. If you already have a first wife, you should have the guts to tell the world that you are already married. Our heroes pretend there is nothing wrong with opting for a second marriage to “fix” the problem temporarily!
Feel free to share your thoughts please. How do you feel about this forced competition between the first and the second wife?

Zarpash Khan in one of her Instagram post answered all the questions that her brother wanted to marry this girl and when he asked his parents, they had no problem with it. The couple got engaged and after a year they both got married. She further added that the couple will move to Oman soon and they will carry on their studies together. As soon as the picture went viral, people started mocking the boy. Some people on the other hand supported the fact that they adopted a Halal way. Here we have a few comments and memes about the wedding. Let’s have a look at them:

Love comes in all shapes and sizes and we have recently seen many types of marriages on the internet. The latest love we have seen is between an 18 year old boy who got married to a 35 year old woman. Their love story and marriage is going viral on social media now. A young boy Shahzad fell in love with Komal, a distant relative of his and their story is everywhere now.
Shahzad fell in love with KOmal while he was still a school student. Their families had issues with their age difference initially and Shahzad’s was also thrashed a few times but they finally got them on their side and got married. They love each other dearly and Shahzad even had insomnia when he could not be with Komal.
They have pet names for each other with Shahzad calling his wife Pinky and Komal calling him Mithu. HEre is their unique love story and how they went through all the obstacles in life. Check out:
Sumail Hassan, a 17 years old Pakistani prodigy has made the country proud after becoming the third highest earning gamer in the world. Sumail also holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest gamer to surpass $1 million in tournament winnings.
His total earnings amounted to $2,401,560 after a recent gaming tournament, making him the third highest earning gamer in the world. The only two gamers who have earned more than Sumail are Peter Dager and Sahil Arora.
The Dota playing enthusiast is now considered as one of the best players in the whole world. Back in 2015, Sumail was picked for the world’s best Dota 2 team, Evil Geniuses- the highest earning Dota2 team in North America.
As per SportsKeeda, Sumail is considered as the best mid-solo in Dota, globally. He has also made it to the Time Magazine’s list for the top most 30 influential teenagers for 2016 globally along with the Nobel laureate Malala YousufZai. Sumail is also the first ever Dota 2 player to be included in the magazine awards.
E-games are growing exponentially and having Sumail in the top tier could hopefully open doors for other Pakistani gamers too.

Voting for Viewer’s Choice Categories will be online from the 16th of March at www.luxstyle.pk. The awards are to be held on April 19, 2017.
Lux Style Awards are the only awards in Pakistan which cover all the entertainment channels, the film industry, the music industry and the fashion industry therefore the viewers get a chance to see the entire industry under one roof. This time around HSY was in charge of the award ceremony, he was the director of the show and everyone was talking about the changes he made in the format of the show. On the red carpet everyone was talking about certain surprises which were in store including Imran Abbas’ singing performance. In this article I will talk about how the function was conducted, some of the skits and performances which were worth mentioning and how this show was presented to the viewers who were going to watch it on television. The article does not contain my views about the nominations and the celebrities who won the awards.
Here is my take on the 16th Lux Style Awards.
The Highs
I will start by talking about those moments of the show which completely won me over. First of all, the addition of the national anthem was definitely a positive aspect. I also liked the way all those iconic celebrities who have made their contributions to different fields of entertainment were shown on the screen while Atif Aslam sang the national anthem and the audience showed their respect by standing up. Atif Aslam sang the national anthem beautifully too.
The skit featuring Osman Khalid Butt and Maryam Saleem was funny and honest but its timing wasn’t perfect. The idea of including the fashion squad was great, I enjoyed the way everyone reacted to this idea and the fact that all the people who were part of this squad were experts in their respective fields.
Like every other year, the production values of the show were impressive and this year the camera work was definitely much better than the last few years. Previously, viewers were shown the same faces in the crowd over and over again and usually similar expressions too but this time the camera man focused on different celebrities sitting in the crowd.
Ali Kazmi hosted the red carpet really well, the way he interacted with the celebrities showed that he was good friends with all of them therefore the interactions were spontaneous and fun.
The only dance performance worth mentioning here was that of Reema. The choreography, choice of song, her outfit, her make-up and her expressions were right on point. Jimmy Khan, Abid Brohi and Ali Sethi’s singing performances were energetic and fun.
Halit Ergenc inclusion in the show was a terrific idea. Everything he said about Pakistan and Pakistanis was touching.
The Lows
Unfortunately, this was one of those shows which had far more lows than highs because of multiple reasons. Firstly, Atif Aslam could not handle multitasking. After singing (lip syncing!) so many songs continuously, he was exhausted and breathless when he finally started hosting the show. There was a lot of hype surrounding the fact that he was going to host such a show for the first time but he definitely did not live up to people’s expectations, there are so many other hosts who could have done a lot better. He looked uncomfortable and there was absolutely no spontaneity, everything he did including singing or those “dance moves” were too rehearsed and he did not look comfortable doing any of it. Also, all the songs Atif performed on were too slow and his lip syncing at times was terrible. There were too many dancers on the stage when he was performing but even then the performance as a whole was not entertaining enough.
Although Osman Khalid Butt’s skit in the beginning was funny but it should have come after the national anthem. If the director decided to add the national anthem to the ceremony, it should have been come before everything else.
It was a really bad idea to show the ceremony, red carpet and fashion squad in one go because it completely ruined the flow of the ceremony. The red carpet should have been shown separately because apart from ruining the flow, it also increased the duration of the entire show considerably and it required a lot of patience to sit through the entire award show.
The #HindiMedium joke by Osman Khalid Butt wasn’t really needed, personally, I did not enjoy it mainly because of the fact that Saba Qamar did give some phenomenal performances this year and she deserved the award. Mahira Khan and Osman Khalid Butt’s rap was passable. There was nothing out of the ordinary or too witty about the content because it did look like they had just picked up things from all the discussions on youtube and different forums and compiled them in the form of a skit. I hardly laughed at any of the jokes.
Junaid Jamshed deserved a better tribute. It would have been so much better if Atif Aslam wasn’t burdened with so many things since our industry is full of talented people who could have contributed to the show. Also, someone directly associated with Junaid Jamshed should have been part of the tribute. Unfortunately, there was nothing touching about this tribute.
It was really funny when Atif Aslam actually referred to Mawra Hocane as “Hocane” and not “Hussein”! He pronounced her name wrong, not that I blame him but it was really odd coming from the main host of the show. Nauman Ijaz’s comment when the audience predicted Udaari will get the best drama award was rude. He said, “ab itna bhi frank hone ki zarurat nahi hei!!”. Although Dillagi was a phenomenal play and deserved the award but even then his remark was extremely rude.
Maya Ali’s remarks when she came to receive best actress award did not make a lot of sense but definitely showed the mentality behind playing such roles and feeling pride in doing so. Like every other year, many celebrities who were not even comfortable speaking English were forced to do so or felt that they had to speak in English because everyone else was doing it! Aly Khan was the only person who spoke Urdu with finesse.
Overall, the show was disappointing and most of the celebrities failed to live up to the hype. There was too much happening; the show itself and the red carpet but it wasn’t impressive.
