Express TV’s famous drama Razia got a huge critical acclaim. Razia was a brilliantly written and perfectly executed short series. The series featured ace actor Mahira Khan along with a talented cast which includes Momal Sheikh, Mohib Mirza, Parveen Akbar, Kausar Siddiqui, Shaheera Jalil Al Basit, Kaleem Ghori, Arman Sami, Kashif Hussain, M. Saqib Rajput, Shahzad Mallick, Akbar Islam, Daniya Kanwal, Samina Nazeer, Abeer Naeem, Fajr Sheikh, Esha Usman, Abrish, Aiza Khan, Umm e Laila, Ali Hur, Shayan, Abdullah, Hashir, Minsa Salman, Meryam Zehra, Fatima Imtiaz. The drama was penned by Mohsin Ali who was also the director of this masterpiece. Executive producers of the project are Hina Aman & Kamran Afridi. Ali Salman is the project head of the drama.

This Sunday, the brilliant cast of Razia made an appearance in The Talk Talk Show hosted by Hassan Choudary. The cast talked about their background and how they became part of the iconic short series Razia.

Kaleem Ghori, who played the character of Mannu shared the details about himself. He said, “I was studying in Napa, I joined Napa in 2013, and completed studies in 2016. Besides this, I have been doing theatre for so long. I was getting work in the theatre but didn’t get work in the industry. Yes, I did a lot of other roles in various dramas. I used to get very small roles. You can say that I worked as a junior artist and then I also got a few films. Now, Alhamdullilah, two of my dramas are airing, Working Women & 101 Talaqain. Also, I worked in Javed Iqbal, Laal Kabootar and other films, it is quite big of Mohsin Ali that he casted me in Razia. Here is the link to the video:

Shaheera Jalil Albasit also shared her background. Talking about her academic background, Shaheera Jalil Albasit said, “I did my bachelors in Geo Physics. I got a Full Bright scholarship. I did my masters in MPA from George Washington University. After doing my masters, I worked as a social activist in the USA. He further said, “Also, I realized that he left a great legacy behind him which included business, charity, preaching and other religious activities. We divided his tasks because we knew that we couldn’t do all these things together. We assigned responsibilities to each other. We always have to keep in mind that he was a very respected man, so we don’t have a chance of making mistakes. Although, his closing was best but our responsibility is increased after his death”. Taimur Junaid Jamshed also remembered the charisma of his father. He said his father advised most about Namaz, he said that never leave Namaz. He was extremely strict about Namaz”.

He also remembered the memories while travelling with his father. He said that he clearly remembered about their last Hajj trip together. “We had an amazing trip. We had a great time with our father and family”, said Taimur Junaid Jamshed.

Taifoor Khan is a multi-talented Pakistani artist who is mainly known for his direction and production. He has directed legendary actors like Nauman Ijaz and others. Taifoor also acted in dramas like Bewaja, Ishq Tera, Tere Pehlu Main, Seher and Tu Zindagi Hai. He has recently directed a web series Team B. Taifoor is Sami Khan’s elder brother and surprisingly he has directed his brother in a music video Mahiya, sung by Annie Khalid.

Taifoor Khan recently appeared in Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Excuse Me. In the podcast, he talked about Mehwish Hayat’s filters and persona.

Talking about it, Taifoor Khan said, “Nowadays, people are so artificial that you don’t really get to know who they truly are, especially in showbiz, where everyone has a filter on them. I remember we had Mehwish Hayat with us on a show Mad Ventures. I was her fan, and I agreed to do the show because of her. I also wanted her to be my partner in the show but then I got to know that she is with her brother. I asked her, “Are the filters we see on you now permanent, or will we ever see Mehwish Hayat without them?” She fell silent for a moment and then said no. Now, they are a part of her persona. Tahira Syed  is a Pakistani ghazal and folk singer. Her repertoire of Urdu, Punjabi, Dogri and Pahari folk songs have made her a popular singer. She first appeared on air in 1968–1969 on Radio Pakistan and then on Pakistan Television. “Yeh Alam Shauq Ka Dekha na Jaey”, “Chanjar Phabdi Na Mutiar Bina” and “Abhi Tau Main Jawan Houn”, written by Pakistani poet Hafeez Jalandhri, are some of her most popular songs.

In April 1985, she appeared on the cover of National Geographic magazine. She received the Pakistan Television Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Pride of Performance Award from the President of Pakistan on 23 March 2013. In 1972, she won the Nigar Award for Best Female Playback Singer.

She continues to perform at diverse events such as a “ghazal evening” in Dallas, Texas, U.S a tribute to Faiz Ahmed Faiz in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S and at the Faiz International Festival in Lahore.

Syed was married to lawyer Naeem Bukhari for 15 years (1975-1990) before their separation and divorce; they had two children. One of the reasons for their separation was the alleged affair with the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Tahira Abdullah who is a known human rights activist and social scientist schooled Khalil-ur-Rehman on women’s rights. She shared what feminism is all about and said, “Feminism is not the name of an organization but a revolutionary view; it’s understanding and believing that women, too, are human beings. You want to talk about equality, rights, who’s a good woman or a bad woman, who’s a loyal woman, who’s worthy of respect but my respect and my dignity is not in the hands of any man to give or take.”

She added, “I am born from the same woman a man is born from and when I come into this world, I bring my rights with me, just like I’m born with a body, soul, brain, and heart, they are a part of my existence.”

She clarified that women are not asking for rights from men, the rights for women are protected by the Constitution of Pakistan. Women are born with their rights.

She kept on explaining what the movement is all about and all other men listened to her carefully while Qamar looked pretty disinterested in her explanation.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is often part of controversies. The screenwriter has been criticized over the negative portrayal of women in the TV show and a series of misogynist comments that he made in multiple public appearances.

Tahira Abdullah schooled Qamar and talked about how the concept of loyalty and honor are set by men in a patriarchal society. “This standard, this level, these criteria of loyalty and honor? The star has now made it to America and won an award which he had announced earlier. Taher has announced that he is making a Hollywood film based on the theme of “love” and his company will be producing it and he’s collaborating with a Hollywood director for the project.
