Every step of success is through education and qualifications, but sometimes that education stays with you only until your passion overwhelms it. There are many actresses in showbiz who were very good in education but then their passion took them to the field of acting.
Sabeena Farooq
Sabeena Farooq is spotted in many drama serials. This girl belongs to Islamabad and loves to talk. She was the top scorer in her class and her parents wanted her to pass a government exam and get a job but Sabina went to audition on PTV and luckily she got selected. Sabeena’s parents were quite angry on her decision but her sister supported her a lot, but in order to move forward in this work, Sabeena had to give up education which saddened her parents and now her parents only insist her for marriage.
Iqra Aziz
Actress Iqra Aziz stepped into media industry at a very young age and she had no idea that she would go further in it. There was a lot of emphasis on education in her family and she came into this field with a thought that she will continue her studies along with her work. One after another she got projects and couldn’t pursue her studies. Now, Iqra wants to mark her name in education like her sister and not just be involved in acting.
Ghana Ali
Ghana Ali is the youngest in her family and is very fond of her father. Ghana was very good in studies but her parents didn’t force her for studies because she wanted to act. Despite her good education, Ghana continued to be associated with media and her mother says that she always came first in the class.

The ongoing political uncertainty has severely affected the theaters in Lahore and release of Pakistani films. Dukhtar to be released on 14th August is now postponed till 18th September while Namaloom Afraad due to release in last week of August is now shifted to Eidul Azha. Another film Operation 021, due to release on Eid-ul-Azha might be delayed as its final shooting schedule is impacted by political turmoil.
In Lahore attendance of theaters has decreased considerably resulting in loss for producers. On television viewers of entertainment channels have also shifted to news channels thus affecting TRP of entertainment channels.
Mere Pass Tum Ho has created quite an uproar. While there are people who love watching this show, there are plenty of women who find the drama serial offensive because it devalues women. For the first time a petition has been filed in the court to ban an episode of a drama, the last episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho. According to this petition the drama Mere Pass Tum Ho’s story , “is based on humiliation of respectable women community.” This is the first time that someone has asked to put a ban on the last episode of a drama because of the way women are portrayed in it.
Now the question is that whether this is the actual reason for asking for a ban or the actual reason are the interviews of the writer. We all know that the writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has given several interviews in which he said that a woman who cheats on her husband is a non woman. He has made several other remarks which were indeed derogatory. But the petition does not say that the drama’s last episode should be banned because of the writer’s comments, it says that it should be banned because of the way women have been portrayed in the drama.
What About These Dramas?
The question is that are women represented in a respectable way in most Pakistani dramas? In the most popular dramas of recent times and even the past men have been shown beating their wives, putting them through mental torture, kidnapping women, raping their wives and there was even a drama in which the rape victim relied on his rapists for years. Dramas like Beqasoor, Chup Raho, Sangat, Mere Khawab Reza Reza, Khasara, Titlee and so many more showed women who were either greedy or were humiliated in every single episode. In Sangat, the victim stayed in the same house with the rapist and also took help from him raising the child she had as a result of the rape. No one filed a petition, why?
In Mere Khawab Reza Reza and Khasara wives were shown leave their loving husbands for men who had more money. In Titlee a woman was shown so shallow and selfish that she leaves her ugly rich husband for a good looking man. The man playing her husband’s role was even tanned to look even more unpleasant.
Real Reason
In drama serial Gul-e-Rana, the hero marries the heroine on gun point then he gives her sleeping pills and rapes her while she is unconscious. In Ishq Tamasha, the man marries a woman out of vengeance, tortures her mentally every single day and in the end she dies but no one had a problem with that. No one raised hue and cry then and no one asked that these dramas should be banned. Is the reason for that is that if women write such dramas it is okay or is the real reason behind asking for the ban is to tell the world that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar should not been voicing his misogynist views in interviews. If that is the reason then whey is Mere Pass Tum Ho being banned? PEMRA should then ban the writer from giving interviews like they do with other hosts and guests of talk shows.
Geo’s Munafiq
Mere Pass Tum Ho’s story is one the viewers have seen many times before in other dramas. The promos of Geo’s latest drama Munafiq humiliate women much more than Mere Pass Tum Ho ever did. There is so much pressure on the people involved to apologize too. The truth of the matter is that people who are constantly scanning Mere Pass Tum Ho for misogynistic dialogues are actually those who want the writer getting banned. They want to teach the writer a lesson.
If Mere Pass Tum Ho’s last episode should be banned then the authorities should also make sure that Munafiq does not even go on air! Yes, the writers have a responsibility to writer progressive scripts but saying that a drama showing one unfaithful woman should be banned or is a threat to women is an illogical reason. Mere Pass Tum Ho has 3 other female characters who represent different kinds of women. Mehwish is just one woman who was unfaithful to a man.
There are so many Pakistani dramas in which men are shown as unfaithful and unreasonable people. Yahan Pyar Nahi Hei and Mere Bewafa being two such examples, there are so many more. Why has a man never filed such a petition? Is it okay for the writers to show men as unfaithful and unreasonable creatures?
Do you think this petition to put a ban on the last episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho justified? Share your views.
Only a few months back Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was known for his dramas alone. He did not give a lot of interviews so people knew very little about his personal views. When Mere Pass Tum Ho went on air and at the same time Khalil-ur-Rehman made his own film, things changed completely. The man who for obvious reasons did not believe in giving interviews was all of a sudden everywhere. Since Mere Pass Tum Ho was such a mega hit, everyone was interested in knowing more about the writer. He gave interviews on every single forum and some of the things he said came under scrutiny. That did not stop him from continuing giving even more interviews in which he kept on saying such things and eventually he ended up showing a side of him which was both ugly and disturbing.
The Criticism and The Interviews
Mere Pass Tum Ho was criticized after the ‘du takay ki aurat’ dialogue became viral. While there were many viewers who thought that the dialogue was well-suited for the situation shown in the drama, there were many others who saw this dialogue as a statement by the writer. Many of the women in particular severely criticized the writer for calling a woman ‘du takay ki’. Since this dialogue was spoken by the male protagonist therefore those people who criticized the play were of the opinion that no man could decide the worth of a woman therefore this dialogue was highly inappropriate. Even the leading writers and actors criticized it.
When the criticism started outpouring, Khalil-ur-Rehman was questioned about his stance on women in general. Many people were of the opinion that his script basically showed his personal opinion about women. The reply Khalil-ur-Rehman gave went viral overnight. He said that he was the biggest feminist but then he also decided to define who a woman was in his opinion. According to him only those women who were faithful and chaste deserved the title of ‘womanhood’. Any other woman like the main protagonist of the drama Mere Pass Tum Ho did not deserve respect or any of the rights the faithful women deserved.
Khalil-ur-Rehman’s opinion about women became the center of attention for all the wrong reasons and started a never-ending debate. From there on many viewers thought Khalil-ur-Rehman was a misogynist who was trying to shape up public opinion according to his own thinking. Khalil-ur-Rehman kept on giving one interview after the other and he did everything from contradicting himself to presenting such definitions of feminism that it baffled everyone.
Later on, the news about his second marriage also surfaced and that is when people started questioning his private life even more. In the Mere Pass Tum Ho special show which aired on ARY, Khalil-ur-Rehman clearly was not in the mood to take criticism and Humayun Saeed was sitting right next to him to calm him down.
Should He Be Banned?
It won’t be wrong to say that even with all his writing expertise lately Khalil-ur-Rehman can easily be termed as the most controversial writer. No writer has ever given so many controversial statements and that too within the span of few months! As if what he had said already was not enough, in a recent interview he made the most derogatory statements towards the woman guest analyst Marvi Sarmid who also happens to be a well-known feminist, acitivist and analyst.
Few months back MD Productions banned Firdous Jamal when he shared his views about Mahira Khan’s look and acting. He criticized Mahira for her acting and said that she looks too old to play the lead. Many actors too criticized him for that. What Khalil-ur-Rehman has done is much more grave, whether he will apologize or not that remains to be seen but it is valid to question if people like him should really be writing our dramas.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar just signed a mega deal with one of the biggest production houses in the country. Humayun Saeed and other producers, channel owners were also seen defending him or staying silent in the past. There are many people who want to see him getting banned and there are also those who are applauding him!
Even a controversial celebrity like Aamir Liaquat have an opinion on the issue!
What is your opinion should Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar be banned after what he did particularly with Marvi Sarmad? The way he lashed out at someone on television like that simply shows that he is not capable of having a decent discussion. The way he commented on this woman’s body also proves many people who term him as a misogynists right. A petition has already been initiated by director Angeline Malik to ban Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
Will this be the final nail in the coffin for Khalil-ur-Rehman? And how will this impact his upcoming film? Will the producers and channel owners continue to ignore the criticism and call for a ban? Share your thoughts.

Our Kashmiri & Army Shaheeds deserve better than being trivialized like this.#BanDhoopKiDeewarhttps://t.co/vn97lH3pJy
Every time Talks b/w #Pakistan & #india starts, films or dramas are made depicting Love b/w a 🇵🇰 boy & Indian girl or vice versa but this time around, the tradition has been compromised as in a recent 🇵🇰🇮🇳 love story a girl is from Pak & this is hurting our egos.#BanDhoopKiDeewarpic.twitter.com/UuGH5ssU0Z
Umaira Ahmed can only write stupid love stories for immoral dramas of Geo & Hum TV. It's beyond her scope to create opinion on #Kashmir issue. No need to take her too serious, specially in military & foreign affairs.#BanDhoopKiDeewar#dhoopkidewaar

If the story of a drama can end the enmity and bring peace, then why did our elders gave so many sacrifices for the independence of Muslims. No one can beat the wisdom of Quid-e-Azam who struggled for us. #BanDhoopKiDeewar
Not only is this series dispacable for showing Kashmiri resistance as Terrorism, it also shits onto Indian Muslims struggle against Hîndús who fantasize rāping Muslim woman by showing a Muslim girl and Hîndú guy love story. #BanDhoopKiDeewar
Came here after watching the trailer of Dhoop Ki Deewar, the daughter of a Pakistani army officer (Sajjal) & the son of an Indian army officer (Ahad) were against one another but they ended up falling in love. What's wrong in the story? Why #BanDhoopKiDeewar ?
The idea to depicting a love story by using Kashmir as a motto is totally pathetic…Such anti-state content should be banned without a second thought..#BanDhoopKiDeewarpic.twitter.com/1NspZNMzIZ

The upcoming Aurat March, which is scheduled to be held on March 8, 2020 has sparked a debate all across Pakistan. It is being discussed on every platform where some are in support of it and others are opposing the idea. The name that has come to the forefront and left everyone behind is of social activist, analyst and journalist Marvi Sirmed. Marvi has been making appearances on different TV channels over the years but it is after recent turn of events that everyone has gotten familiar with her name on a larger scale. Marvi Sirmed is a social activist and has been working for the sake of women’s rights for years.
Here are some of the facts about her:
Marvi Sirmed Comes From A Bureaucracy Background
Marvi Sirmed was born on June 11, 1970. Her father Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq was a bureaucrat. He retired as a Directorate General of Public Relations Punjab in 2003. Her grandfather Chaudhry Abdul Rehman was a farmer from Bahawalpur and joined hands with the Nawab of Bhawalpur for the agricultural growth of their hometown. She has two brothers and both of them are known to be active supporters of current Government and political party run by Imran Khan – Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf.
Marvi Sirmed Was A Pre-Medical Student
Before venturing into journalism, Marvi Sirmed was a student of Pre-Medical. It was around the early 90’s when she veered towards journalism and started writing for different national newspapers such as Daily News, Daily Jung and Khabrein.
She Also Has An Experience of Teaching
While completing her higher education, Marvi has taught subjects like English and Chemistry. After she obtained her Masters degree in Science and Education from the University of Punjab, she continued with her teaching and taught schools like Pamir Knot Higher Secondary School and Crescent Model High School, Lahore.
Her Body of Work
It was in the late 90’s when Marvi Sirmed started getting involved in NGO’s and different organizations. At first she started as a social activist but later joined hands with different NGOs which worked towards the rights of women. Marvi Sirmed is popularly known for taking a stand against Hudood Ordinances 1979, amendments in the Blasphemy Laws. She advocates against all the rural norms and traditions that are against women. She also actively speaks in the favor of ethnic minorities and raises her voice for their rights.
Marvi Sirmed and Hafiz Hamdullah
Senator Hafiz Hamdullah and Marvi Sirmed got into ugly argument and fought on a Live Show in 2016. It was because Hafiz Hamdullah kept on interrupting her and that is when things escalated. Both Marvi and Hafiz Hamdullah exchanged derogatory terms and that is when Hafiz Hamdullah almost lost control and tried to hit her. Fortunately, he was stopped by one of the members of the panel and was taken away by security. Marvi Sirmed filed an FIR report against Hafiz Hamdullah for threatening her because according to her, all the things that he said were nothing short of a rape threat.
Marvi Sirmed also tried to shift the Government’s focus on Hafiz Hamdullah’s origin and nationality when she was not on good terms with him. In 2019, she went on to support him while criticizing the present government for taking away his Pakistani citizenship. She tried to make it look like his problematic views against women were not an issue for the Pakistani Government but the fact that he was an Afghan descent. People called out Marvi for her dual standards and changing stance on Hafiz Hamdullah.
Marvi Sirmed’s “Mera Jism Meri Marzi”
This has become a slogan which not only represents but sums up Aurat March for all those who are coming out in favor of it. Marvi Sirmed who recognizes herself as an feminist has come out in support of this slogan and is speaking against all those who do not understand the crux of this statement. According to her, it simply means ‘my body, my choice’. This slogan has not sat well with people and has become the bone of contention between those who are pro and anti Aurat March.
Marvi Sirmed and Khalil ur Rehman Qamar
The latest fiasco that has put Marvi Sirmed’s name everywhere on the media is her heated debate and argument with the writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. They were invited on Neo News’s Live Talk Show to discuss Aurat March where they had to give their reasoning behind supporting and opposing Aurat March and the slogan of Mera Jism Meri Marzi. The moment Khalil ur Rehman Qamar started voicing his opinion, Marvi Sirmed chanted her slogan and that is when the argument turned ugly. Khalil ur Rehman Qamar ended up abusing and body shaming Marvi Sirmed. Ever since, people have been divided on this matter. Where the general consensus still remains against the abusive language used by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, people are also supporting him and calling Marvi Sirmed out for her statements against men.

Marvi Sirmed’s Twitter History & Reputation
She is known for being outspoken and unapologetic. This is the kind of reputation Marvi has but after all the feminists have come in her support to stand against the abuses hurled by Khalil ur Rehman, there’s also a large number of twitter users who are calling her for being abusive and demeaning against those who have tried to have a conversation with her over general affairs. Marvi Sirmed’s previous tweets are resurfacing which highlight her abusive language.
Marvi Sirmed and Mahira Khan
Mahira Khan was probably one of the first few celebrities who spoke against what she witnessed on Neo News Live Talk Show. She spoke against Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s behavior and his stance against women in general. Later when Marvi Sirmed’s questionable tweets were brought in Mahira Khan’s attention by Raja Faisal, another journalist who was abused by Marvi Sirmed, Mahira clearly mentioned that she did not condone this behavior and was not going to stand by the kind of language that she was using.
Her Final Stance
After the fiasco of Sirmed Qamar feud, she appeared on the TV to put her stance forward in which she only expects him to accept his mistakes. Khalil ur Rehman Qamar asked for an apology from Marvi but she believes her mere shut up call was nothing as compared to the things he has said. She believes Qamar has collectively insulted all women and has reduced their level to mere physical appearance and attributes.
My response to Mr Qamar's statement that he used abusive language because I provoked him. And tgat he won't apologise until I apology use gor giving him shut up call.
Qandeel Baloch got all kinds of hateful reactions from people when she was alive but after the way she was killed it is expected that people will now stop judging her and let her rest in peace. Many tweets however show something entirely different. There are some people who are finding it impossible to stop judging Qandeel Baloch even now. They are saying that she deserve to be killed like this. There are people who are justifying this murder saying that her brother did the right thing. Some people are also quoting what Mufti Qavi said about this being a warning for girls who might think about maligning the name of someone who is a religious scholar. These hateful comments show that some people are so heartless that they even support something like murder.
Mere Pass Tum Ho airs on ARY Digital and it is not only the most watched drama serial of this season but it is also the most talked about play. Mere Pass Tum Ho has been written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, it has been directed by Nadeem Baig and it has been produced by Six Sigma Plus. Humayun Saeed,Ayeza Khan, Adnan Siddiqui and Hira Mani are going to play leading roles in this drama throughout. Mere Pass Tum Ho is popular because of an unconventional male protagonist and the soul-stirring dialogues. The team of the play has given several interviews and in these interviews they have revealed shocking details about the making of this drama.
Here are some of these shocking facts you probably did not know about.
Feroze Khan and Adeel Hussein were considered for playing Danish’s role….
Humayun Saeed always wanted to play Danish’s role but he had few other commitments and wasn’t sure if he would be able to play the role therefore Humayun Saeed seriously considered Feroze Khan for playing Danish’s role. Adeel Hussein was another name which was being considered for playing this role. Since this drama was being headed by Humayun Saeed’s own production house therefore he was doing most of the brainstorming and these were the names he had in his mind. Both the actors were willing to play this character but then Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar did not agree with this decision since he wanted Humayun Saeed to play this role.
The team wanted Humayun to play Shahwar’s role
Except for the writer, everyone else wanted Humayun Saeed to play Shahwar’s role because everyone around him was convinced that this role suited him better. The writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar however wrote this character for Humayun Saeed since he was convinced that he was the one who could play this character better than anyone else. Rest of the people were pretty sure that Humayun could not look this ‘innocent’ on screen.
In an interview Humayun Saeed revealed that he had this script with him for 5 years therefore he was in that ‘zone’ for a long time hence playing this character was never difficult for him. He wanted to do this character and was never attracted towards playing Shahwar’s role in the play. Therefore, at the end of the day it was Humayun Saeed’s own decision to play this role even though he was advised by people around him not to play it since he might not fit into it.
Mere Pass Tum Ho’s script was written 5 years back
Humayun Saeed requested Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to give his next script to his production house. This happened after the massive success of Pyare Afzal. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar had handed over Mere Pass Tum Ho’s script to one of the other producers and mentioned that to Humayun Saeed. Humayun Saeed bought the script from the producer but he never intended to act in it, he was only planning to produce it. However, after reading the script he really wanted to play Danish’s character. Due to some issues he decided he might not be able to do it but then suddenly Nadeem Baig and Humayun Saeed both decided to be part of this project. It was fate and association with this script which made it all happen.
Aisha Khan and Sonya Hussyn were considered for Mehwish’s role
In an interview Humayun Saeed revealed that Aisha Khan was the top most and first choice for playing Mehwish’s role. He was pretty sure that Aisha Khan could translate this role perfectly on screen but Aisha Khan was getting married therefore she couldn’t be part of this project. Sonya Hussyn was the second choice for playing this character but she refused to play the role. In Humayun’s words she refused because the character in her opinion was ‘khatarnak’. In Sonya’s words, she refused because this character showed women in a bad light.
Four big directors refused to direct this play
When Humayun Saeed read the script, he fell in love with it. He wanted to play Danish’s character but the channel was demanding that they start making the drama and he was too busy to work in it. Nadeem Baig too was busy with the film. Therefore, Humayun Saeed approached 4 other leading directors to direct this serial. All 4 of them refused saying that the script was too boring. Humayun Saeed was baffled with their responses because he liked this script so much.
Eventually Qasim Ali Mureed (the director of Aangan, ARY) was chosen to direct the drama. Humayun Saeed however wasn’t sure if someone else would be able to do justice to the script therefore he asked Nadeem Baig to read the script once and that is when both of them decided to go ahead with it.
Guess which actress will be Shahwar’s wife?!
Nadeem Baig in his interview with Something Haute mentioned that Shahwar’s wife will make an appearance at some point. He did not mention the name of the actress who will be playing this role but he did say that it is a guest appearance. He also said that it is going to be a good surprise for the viewers. Even though the entire team of this play gave so many interviews but the name of this actress is being kept a secret. While some people are guessing that Mehwish Hayat might be playing this role, our guess is that Kubra Khan might be the one playing the role. Let’s see if our guess turns out to be right!
It hardly ever happens that so many people reject a script for different reasons and then it turns out to be such a huge success eventually. Humayun Saeed’s faith in this project definitely made all the difference. Later on, Nadeem Baig’s dedication gave Humayun’s dream project the final shape. Ayeza Khan too wasn’t sure if she would be able to play this role perfectly but Nadeem Baig encourage and assured her and she won people’s hearts with her performance. There is a good reason why Humayun Saeed got unprecedented appreciation for playing this role, after all he lived with Danish in his head for years before actually portraying this character.
Did you find these facts surprising? What if the initial cast was finalized and Adeel Hussein or Feroze Khan played Danish’s role? Do you think Aisha Khan could have pulled off Mehwish’s character? We certainly feel that the entire cast is well-suited for the roles they are playing.
What about our guess? Could Kubra Khan be playing Shahwar’s wife’s role?
Lately, there has been a trend that when celebrities get married they make sure that their fans see the pictures and sometimes even the ceremony in detail. Unlike Annie and Noureed’s divorce, this divorce was a very personal affair. Faha tweeted that she had Aisam had parted ways but Aisam took his time coming out with it. Aisam-ul-Haq did not give a reason for the divorce. He did not talk about it publicly in any of the interviews but just said that he did not want to get married again soon.

Salma replied that it would be if Azfar got married to someone else. No one knew at that time what was going on between the couple because they looked happy together. Azfar and Salma were married for 11 years and had a daughter together before they got divorced.
Sherry Shah and Malik Anwar Awan
Sherry Shah was married to Malik Anwar Awan for only a month. This was the most unfortunate and quickest divorce in recent times. Sherry Shah got divorce from her husband because he was a fraud. Sherry Shah told the media that Anwar Awan lied to her about everything from his background to his job. He was also married and had a child but he told Sherry nothing about it.
Sherry’s husband used her name to cheat and influence media persons. He also took money from people Sherry knew. Sherry Shah’s marriage was a terrible experience for her. Host Maya Khan and social worker Ansar Burney played a major role in getting her rid of her fraud husband.
Shaista Lodhi and Waqar Wahidi
Shaista Lodhi was married for 15 years to Waqar Wahidi. She got married when she was still a student. She has three children Shafay, Faiz and Eeman. Arij Fatyma and Faraz
This was another recent wedding which ended with a divorce only within a few days. Arij Fatyma happily informed her fans of her engagement on her facebook page and she also posted pictures. After some days, she posted pictures of her nikkah. In only two weeks she wrote “I’d like to tell my fans that my relationship ended just within two weeks. It was nobody’s fault, but there were differences between the families. It was better to end it right now then have issues after rukhsati.” She knew that people will make assumptions about her divorce so she openly said everything she wanted to. She said she wrote, “Please don’t jump to conclusions or say that it was an impulsive move because I myself know that when relations end, it’s not a good thing. But of course, there must be a good reason for it.”
Many people were shocked to hear this news.
