Shaan is among the pioneers of this bloom that our film industry is seeing today. Khuda Kay Liay was the first movie who brought the enlightened masses of society to Pakistani cinemas and the trend has escalated enormously after that. He is also a staunch nationalist and has verbally criticised our actors and actresses to be so desperate to act in Bollywood that they don’t even demand role equality with Indian actors of the same movie and he has debated this on many platforms.

Recently, he talked about Arth and Yaghaar and about his take on the movies of today and his beliefs regarding them. Though he has mellowed out over time, he still speaks his mind very strongly. Talking about Arth, he said that he has always believed writing was his forte and working with so many writers all these years has given him a deep insight into that genre of film making. He said, the movie, its script and all the actors make it a complete picture. He thinks a movie should be treated like a child, catering to its every need to achieve the results you are hoping it would.

Theh it came to Yalghaar and the controversy surrounding it when it comes to Shaan’s disinterest in promoting it. He said that it is not that he is not supporting Yalghaar, it is just that he does not want to mislead his audience. He wants them to know what they are buying the ticket for.

Shaan believes it was wrong of film makers to promote Yalghaar as the likes of Rambo, where the hero has one vandetta, or the way most of his action movies are. It has multiple heroes in it and all of them are involved in paying tribute to the martyrs. He is proud to be part of such a theme but he does not want to give the incorrect impression to his audiences by promoting it in his name. It is a movie based on a true event that brings to limelight all those who have sacrificed their lives and families for this country. The movie boasts a star studded cast and he believes his fans are intelligent enough not be disappointed on seeing him sharing screen space with so many heroes, as long as that they are told earnestly what they should be expecting.

Shaan has spoken very cautiously about the movie, but considering the reviews it is getting, we wonder if there was more than this to him not wanting to promote the movie in his name?

One of the most anticipated film, Yalghaar, that features an all star ensemble cast has been in the pipeline for over three years. The war saga, which was to be released in 2015 has been delayed time and again for a plethora of reasons. It was announced last year that the film will finally release on March 23, 2017.

However, the latest news surrounding Yalghaar is that it has been postponed, once again. A source close to the film confirmed to Instep that it has been delayed for reasons unknown.

“The shoot for the film has completed, everything else is done but we aren’t sure why it’s not coming out,” the source told Instep. “We were informed that it will release on 23rd March but now it is not.”

Yalghaar created a lot of hype ever since it was announced. It is said to be the most expensive films to be made in the history of Pakistani cinema. It stars Shaan Shahid and Humayun Saeed in the lead roles, who’ll face off as protagonist and antagonist. Directed by Shaan himself, the cast of Zaraar includes Shaan Shahid, Pinky Memsaab famed actress Kiran Malik, Nadeem Baig, Nayyer Ejaz, Adnan Butt, and Cyrille Mansuy.

Shaan has collaborated with Hollywood based cinematographer Timothy Hallam Wood and has promised international level VFX and high octane stunts for the film.

Though Pakistani film industry is in shambles for years now and we have lost most of our film fraternity to seclusion but one star has remained on the horizon and he is still undoubtedly the biggest film star in Pakistan. Shaan Shahid started his career with Bulandi and became an instant hit among the masses. People loved not only his acting but his looks and he has been ruling hearts since the 90s. Shaan shared that his is a love marriage. Though his wife was only 19 and he was 30 at the time he visited his Arts College for a project, it was a love at first sight for him. He knew that Amina was it for him.

He also shared that his wife’s family was concerned initially as he was an actor already and there were many stories f his link ups with fellow actresses. But Shaan asked his mom the legendary Neelo Begum to go and ask for Amina’s hand. When Amina’s family got to know about Shaan’s father and that he is also a Kashmiri like them, they accepted the proposal.

Entertainment industry is known for glitz, glamour, style and what not but one more thing that is common in the show business all over the world are cat fights and rivalries. Old Lollywood is known for many toxic stories with people cutting each others roles, stealing films and even allegations of black magic coming from different leading ladies for each other. In a recent interview for the promotions of his upcoming film Zarrar, Shaan Shahid opened up why actors cannot be friends.

Shaan Shahid himself has had many feuds in the industry in his decades long career. In recent years there have been tensions between him and Ali Zafar and recently a comment by him regarding Humayun Saeed’s films got blown up on social media.

Shaan shared that actors can be friends but it is difficult in our industry. As there are only few good riles and when few people get short listed for them, a competition starts which makes it impossible for them to be friends. The dearth of enough quality work for everyone is the cause behind actors not being friends.

Shaan Shahid revealed Humsafar was offered to him before Fawad Khan in the interview. Talking about it, Shaan Shahid said, “All the channels are great, doing great dramas. I was offered Humsafar but at that time I was busy in one of my projects. I was offered the character of Fawad. I didn’t do that drama, I had already worked with Fawad Khan in Khuda Kay Liye, before that he was doing sitcom Jutt and Bond. I first met him through Shoaib Mansoor. I would love to do any television role, if something inspirational comes to me and I also want actors to bring their work on OTT platforms”. Shaan Shahid also reveals why he refused multiple projects, offered to him in India. He said, “When I say that I wont work in India, actors get angry on me, I am not saying it on their behalf. I am not stopping actors, having said that, I didn’t work in India because of my father’s strong ideology on Kashmir. As far as, Aamir Khan is concerned, I asked him why he needed me out of 2 Billion people. The thing is why couldn’t they found out a Ghajini in India. When producers want to sign your nationality, you should refuse it on the spot because your fans love you. Also, the character of Ghajini was the epitome of all the negativity.

We already reported the war of words between Shaan Shahid and Ali Zafar. Shaan Shahid has proved that he wants to work to bring the Pakistani film industry to a point where everyone prefers to watch a Pakistani film. Talking about The Legend of Maula Jatt, he said, “The new Maula Jatt was wonderful, all actors were good, they are doing great job, they did great work, in the end I just have one issue, there is nothing wrong in learning, one should learn, you are somebody struggling to get great from good, my basic concern was Punjabi dialect or accent which could have been better and I also believe that music is the main need of a film, music could have been added after taking rights of Maula Jutt’s music. Talking about getting an offer from Bilal Lashari, Shaan said, “They were offering me a different role and I felt that I would not be able to do justice to that role, first they called me to discuss the things and then they offered me the role of father of Maula Jatt, which I refused, I always question on thing that if you won’t give a singer 5 minutes to perform then it’s not justice with that artist because her won’t be able to convince others about his craft”

Talking further about it, he said, “But I was up for any help , I’m a team player, I personally feel that Maula Jatt character could have been better choice for me because I think I have earned the respect after playing or acing Punjabi characters, we have our different ways of doing performances, I mean Fawad has his own way and I have my way of seeing things. Talking about Hamza Ali Abbasi playing Noori Nath, he said, “Usually, in films, Hero kills the villian but in The Legend of Maula Jatt, Hamza was being discussed after movie was finished, he was the one who was alive, Hamza Ali Abbasi picked the rythm well which Fawad couldn’t pick. Hamza did well, I personally think that the harmony could have been created between these two characters as one was overpowering the other, if you see Raahi Sahab and Qureshi Sahab, they worked on chemistry and did great justice with their characters, they had a harmony. They both were well in their rythm.

Shaan Shahid is associated with the industry from quite a long time and he has established himself as one of the most popular stars of the industry. He has always been very outspoken on societal issues and he never shies away from speaking the truth.

Neelo Begum, a very famous name of Pakistan film industry, is no more with us. She died in Lahore on Saturday and his son, Shaan Shahid confirmed the news. He took his Twitter to announce this sad news with his followers and Neelo Begum’s fans.

Neelo Begum was a famous and phenomenal Pakistani actress who started her acting career with the film Bhavani Junction in 1956. She showed tremendous acting skills in several hit films which include; Zarqa, Do Raaste, Ghonghat and Raaste.

She was also awarded the Nigar Award for Best Actress in 1969 film Zarqa. She got married to director, Riaz Shahid, and lived a happily married life. Shaan Shahid followed her mother’s footsteps and joined showbiz at a very young age.

We feel extremely sorry for Shaan Shahid and his family. May Allah bless the departed soul.

Recently in an interview with Instep, he spoke on the matter again and here’s what he has to say:

“I have been against talent working internationally but if anything isn’t available, I will have to look at options.”

“I am happy to see Fawad Khan and Ali Zafar making films in and for Pakistan. Pakistan only has a handful of heroes and it needs them at this point of time.”

Trying not to be more judgemental, he said, “It’s incorrect for me to judge anyone, and that’s something I’ve learned from life.”

“To be honest, I am not even concerned anymore. It’s difficult to make people look at the bigger picture, so I don’t want to waste my time clarifying myself.”

The entertainment industry is one of the most unpredictable professions in the world. At one point you are at the top of the world and a second later you are nothing. This makes many stars throughout the world to always invest in other businesses whatever their status in the industry may be. Many of our Pakistani stars are also doing the same such as Syed Jibran who owns restaurants, Fahad Mustafa has a production house Big Bang Productions which produced shows like Balaa and Cheekh. Fawad Khan owns a designer house and Shaan Shahid who has previously also been a producer is all set to lunch his furniture line.

The star, like all of his projects, wants to be the best and is investing time and energy to do it in the best way. Shaan Shahid was out doing some wood hunting for his new furniture line and shared the news with his fans on his Instagram.
