There has always been a lot of military and political tension between India and Pakistan. However, artists and sportsmen and celebrities of both country meet internationally and are bound by the same feelings of companionship and respect as they would if there was no conflict between the two countries.

This time it was Virat Kohli who supported Shahid Afridi Foundation, abbreviated as SAF in Newcastle for a fundraising event. His autographed bat was auctioned to help raise money for the foundation. The aim of this event was to raise enough funds for building a hospital in Tharparkar, as an ongoing effort to bring #HopeNotOut in the life of people from such poverty stricken areas of the country.

Shahid Afridi was very appreciative of this gesture by Virat Kohli on twitter and received an equally warm reply.

Just a week back we were reporting how proud Fakhr-e-Alam was making Pakistan proud by being asked to deliver a lecture to the Google employees at the Google Headquarters. He became the second Pakistani to represent Pakistan at google, following the footsteps of the melodious singer Rahat Fateh Ali.

In case you didn’t know, Fakhr e Alam is a Pakistani celebrity and entrepreneur. He is publicly known for his roles as a singer, actor, director, TV Host and as the Chairman of the Sindh Censor Board.

He will be visiting the Facebook headquarters tomorrow, 3 August 2017.  His lecture tomorrow will mark him as the first Pakistani to ever deliver a lecture to the employees of Mark Zuckerberg’s organization. He will be sharing his views on technology and art and how they can be merged.

Sara Bhatti, model and ex-wife of Meekal Zulfiqar is ready to make her film debut in the action-thriller film “RangBaaz”, directed by Farooq Mengal.

In an interview to a local agency, the model explained why she decided to take the role of the lead in this film.

.The story involves love and betrayal and the character I’m playing is very strong that’s the reason why I choose it.

Humaima Malick was expected to make her Bollywood debut alongside Sanjay Dutt in Sher. However, the latter got arrested and the film was shelved. But, now that Dutt is back with a bang, Sher has commenced its production and is going to be bigger this time.

After failing her debut with Raja Natwarlal, Humaima Malick is all games for her upcoming movie. While talking about her role and plot of the movie to a leading local publication house, she said:

“I can’t reveal much about the story yet as I have a strict no-spoilers policy. What I can tell you though is that it’s a remake of Mother India. Most of the film is shot in Rajasthan; we shot for 45 days straight in Jaipur.”

It’s a period film and it’s the first time I’m doing a period film. It’s also a challenging role but I’ve never shied away from doing demanding roles, I actually find it very exhilarating.”

Malick will be seen playing the role of Sanjay Dutt’s wife and will be in a completely different avatar.

Pakistani actresses consider it their big fortune to star alongside big Bollywood stars, and Humaima is of the same view. The BOL actress explains:

“It’s been an experience that I can’t really put into words. It was my first film in India and opposite such legends. I got to act alongside Vinod Khanna and I feel like I was blessed to have known him. I got a chance to experience the powerhouse that is Paresh Rawal, then, of course, Sanjay Dutt, he’s such a joy to be working with. And Seema Biswas also! God, I couldn’t have hand-picked a better onscreen mother.”

On the topic of movie’s release, Malick teases:

“I will leave revealing the date to the producers but I’ll tell you that it will be really, really soon.”

The much hyped up film, Saath Din Mohabbat In, starring Sheheryar Munawar and Mahira Khan has begun shooting in Karachi today. IMGC’s and Dawn Film’s collaboration was in rehearsals phase throughout the July, but has now gone on-floor.

Other than Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar starring together for the second time, first time with Ho Mann Jahaan, the graceful Mira Sethi is also expected to make her film debut. Aamir Qureshi, Aamna Ilyas and Adnan Shah Tipu will also be gracing the camera for this movie.

Hum Tv is one of the biggest entertainment giants of today. It has some very powerful dramas and shows on its credit. It is, however, still expanding its horizons and have new ideas to engage the audience.

This time, Hum Tv has introduced its first Short Film Festival. It is an invitation to all and sultry for sending in their stories about Pakistan, as seen through their their experiences. Contestants need to film their creations and send in with the scripts before the 14th of August.

The competition will be judged by veteran actors and directors associated with Hum Tv, namely Farhat Ishtiaq, Mohammad Ehtishamudin, Sania Saeed, Zeba Bakhtiar and Nabeel Qureshi.

Cricket is the one sports that nearly everyone in our country enjoys. I will, in fact go as far as saying that It is a force that unites us. Some years back, Pakistan had started its own Super League and Wasim Akram had become the mentor of Islamabad United. However, the 2 year partnership has come to an end and Wasim Akram is changing sides.

Wasim Akram’s manager Arsalan spoke with Tribune saying,

We have left Islamabad United and are officially signing with another franchise this week.

Upon asking which team the legendary bowler wishes to join, he said,

We have been in talks with Multan for some time and also plan on holding discussions with other franchises.

It is said that Misbah ul Haq, the former skipper of Pakistan team, will be taking over the vacancy in the Islamabad United and the Multan Sultans’ is expected to be lead by Muhammad Hafeez.

The Pakistani film ‘Moor’ received a great response from the Pakistani audience. The story of the film revolved around a widower and his son acknowledging the corruption within themselves and their society. This 2015 film bagged many awards in Pakistan but we are pleased to inform that now this wonderful work is being recognized outside Pakistan too.

Hameed Sheikh who played the lead, Wahidullah Khan, did an excellent job in the portrayal of a troubled station-master. His commendable acting was recently appreciated at the 57th Asia-Pacific Film Festival Awards 2017 where he was awarded with the Special Jury Award.

Rangreza is an upcoming Pakistani film that is being widely discussed among the movie fanatics. The BTS and on set shots have been circulating on social media. The movie starring Gohar Rasheed, Bilal Ashraf, and Urwa Hocane is still somewhat a mystery for us.

And now, the news has it that the well-known luxurious model Alyzeh Gabol has joined the cast of Rangreza. A picture started floating yesterday, possibly leaked by the team of Rangreza, indicating that she will be making an appearance in the movie. However, later on, the team of the movie welcomed her in their club:

It has been revealed that she would be making a special cameo appearance in the movie. The details of her character and its extent have been kept under wraps yet. But, a video was also unveiled in which she is having a fun time with Rangreza’s lead boys:

Peshawar city has become a very sensitive city of Pakistan in the past few years. It has been the hub for political unrest, terrorist attacks and other social evils. However, creativity still lives on in this city.

The Provincial capital will be releasing its first ever international bilingual film titled ‘Project Peshawar’ very soon. The trailer of the tele-film is out and it shows the dark side of Peshawar.

The plot of the film revolves around a London-based character who falls in love with a girl from Peshawar through internet and travels the city only to find out that it was all a well thought out scheme to kidnap him. This film is directed by the debutant Irshu Bangash and is produced by Junaid Kamran.

The film was shot in only only Peshawar but UK and Canada too. The film will be released for audiences in Dutch, English, Urdu and Pashto.

Speaking to Tribune, Bangash gave some insight on how the movie relates to Peshawar’s situations.

So, we decided to do something related to social media and how it’s misused. We see it all around us and even Mashal Khan’s case was elevated due to social media and its power.

The lead role is played by an Afghan-Dutch actor Shoaib Lodin who in the past has made a few appearances in Bollywood movies. Other than him, the case members include:Navishta Sahar, Sally Ingry, Moiez Mohmand, Mihela Bursc, Arbab Izhar Ahmad, James Ryan, Mustafa Khan and Mariyam Dilawar Jan.

Ayesha Omer kicked off her entertainment journey with a not-so-known singer, later on becoming a very popular actress and then venturing again into singing. She has donned many different shoes in her journey, but this time she is taking on a new role.

Ayesha Omer is now the celebrity mentor for Miss Veet Pakistan 2017, replacing the famous model Faiza Ansari for this season. She has already stepped onto her role, beginning with Karachi Auditions. Here are some of her pictures of the audition:

Pakistani movie Saawan has been  making waves internationally before its release. Earlier, it had won “The Best Foreign Language Feature Film Award” in Madrid at The International Film Festival.

This time the movie has bagged two more award “Best Film” and “Best Director” at The Social World Film Festival” in Italy.

Saawan is written by Mashood Qadri, directed by Farhan Alam and tells the story of a disabled boy from remote areas who will be shown fighting against the society evils. He is faced by feudal lords, child abductors and natural calamities but his grit and resilience wins them all.

The movie will be releasing on the 15th of September and hopefully, will be having the same impact on audience in Pakistan that it had globally.

Nimra Khan is a versatile celebrity who has done acting, modelling, singing and directing in showbiz, along with running her own beauty salon and playing squash.

She was in the news a couple of years back due to her accident which had left her bed ridden for many months. Thankfully she is all out of that phase now, healthier and fitter than before and all the more beautiful.

Recently, we have found her vacationing in London with family. Over the past decade, Coke Studio has definitely made a name for itself. In fact, it has become one of the biggest shows in the sub-continent. A lot of super hit songs have been produced on the show and we are all very thankful to Coke Studio for giving those hits to us. But producing amazing tracks requires not only artists working hard but also the house band of Coke Studio.

In 2013, after five years, Hyatt stepped down from the position of executive producer of Coke Studio and handed her mantle over to the Strings members Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia.

Most of us will agree that these guys produce great music but what we all also want to know is how they are as the bosses? Well, in a recent interview to a local news agency, members of the Coke Studio’s House band answered this question:

They’re both gems! Being a good musician is a whole different thing but they’re incredible human beings.

Haider Ali further praised his bosses,

Most importantly, I’ve been given full liberty to play whatever I want. I’ve worked with so many artists but the moment I joined Strings I knew I could not go anywhere else.

Asif Nicky, another member of the band, said,

I’ve been associated with the entertainment industry for over 15-16 years but have worked with Strings for the past 5-6 years. Working with Strings has been really good.

The experienced musicians also talked about what he finds special working with the Strings boys,

To me, quality in work is a priority and that’s why being associated with Strings is special for me,

The house band this season includes: Aahad Nayani, Kamran Zafar, Babar Khanna, Aziz Kazi, Imran Akhoond, Haider Ali, Omran Shafique, Shahab Hussain, Rachel Viccaji, Natasha Khan, Joshua, Bradley and Adeel.

It seems like Strings are getting a five-star review from the house band. Let’s hope they continue making everyone feel as welcomed and as comfortable that they do now.

Muhammad Amir is a force to be reckoned with, according to most crickets at least. As you all might remember, Rohit Sharma didn’t share the same thoughts about our young bowler. In fact, in an interview in the past, the Indian Cricketer had said “Mohammad Amir ‘is just a normal bowler’ ” and there’s nothing special about him or his bowling.

There were his exact words,

There is just so much hype around him, I don’t think it is right to give him too much hype after one match”

“He is just a normal bowler, on that given day if he is good, he is good. It is not as if he turns up and blows everyone away. Stop talking about him already.

When our ace bowler was asked about Mr.Sharma, this is what he had to say,

Maybe his opinion about me has now changed. But let’s get one thing clear, I would never call him an ordinary batsman.

In fact, I would call him an extraordinary batsman. His record for India is superb and I respect him.

Pakistan and Afghanistan may have several political issues forming a divide between their ‘brotherhood’ but just like other countries, the artists of both the countries act as a means of bridge of prosperity between the neighbours.

On Friday, 28 July 2017, a documentary focusing on human rights issues was presented at the Centre for Excellence in Journalism in Karachi. It contained audio and video works by both Pakistanis and Afghanis.The Pakistani and Afghani makers seemed to have really hard on their masterpiece.

These documentaries were produced in a first-of-its-kind residential training programme that brought together documentary makers from Pakistan and Afghanistan in Karachi from 17-28 July 2017. The training was led by award-winning journalists from Serbia, Sonja Ristic and Zoran Ćulafić.

In an interview shared by Pakistan Today, Mohammad Behroozian from Afghanistan said,

Bringing different people together is always a fascinating idea. You get different perspectives, skill sets and different ways of thinking.

Talking about the benefits of Pakistan and Afghanistan working together he said,

It is even more important when the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan come together. The people-to-people diplomacy will, hopefully, result in better relations between the people of the two countries.

From Pakistani side, Saed Nazir said,

here is a wide gap between the journalists of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Such types of training definitely help build better understanding among professionals and improve the prospects of peace, because these people have the power to build public opinion.

This film ‘Sound is Silence’ revolves around a 15-year-old girl Fariah, who was born hearing impaired. Following this girl’s story the film brings into light the struggles a deaf person has to face living in Karachi. It further explores how this disability brings different obstacles in their way of success. This heart touching and eye opening film is made by Nameera Ahmad from Pakistan with 2 fellows from Afghanistan.

Radio journalist Saed Nazir from Pakistan produced an audio documentary tapping into a somewhat taboo topic in our country; transgenders and their struggles to survive in Pakistan as well as the hindrances they face to enter into the mainstream professions and maintain their positions.

Farhad Humayun – the singer, video artist, drummer and producer – is all set to release his first single ever. Titled as Mur K Dekho, it is soon going to hit the music scene across Pakistan.

While talking about his song with a local publication house, he said:

“Mur Ke Dekho is a song with a beat that’s danceable and a melody that’s sing-able and catchy. In a sense it is about looking forward to life, embracing all the dark adventures it holds, dealing with them with a smile and dropping all the baggage we collect. The future always holds promise.

This is going to be my most definitive work as an artist and songwriter. I’m playing all instruments myself except piano and ethnic instruments. I felt I was so close to these compositions that I wanted to transfer my truest emotions on tape by playing guitar, drums, bass and some keys myself, apart from singing and writing, Sarmad and I have worked closely on lyrics melodies and arrangements. He’s truly awesome.”

Syra Shahroz is one of the cutest celebrities that have ever existed. Her marriage with Shahroz Sabzwari was one of the biggest shocks we ever had, because we never knew that they were even dating. But, the loving and adorable couple definitely stole our hearts from Day 1. Since then, there is no stopping their relationship growth.

This absolutely adorable couple still go on dinner dates and have some time out alone, despite of the ever-growing daughter Nooreh. That’s how love grows. Right? But, their naughty daughter spoiled their date this time.

Anum Fayyaz is the renowned talented actress of Pakistan. She has starred in many plays and has proved her worth as an entertainer from time and again. The actress got married in a secret ceremony, leaving her fans guessing who her husband is.

Recently our morning shows have started coming up with some very strange ideas . There have been shows like recreating the bridal look to finding the cutest baby among the participating toddlers .

Finding the cutest baby does not seem like a really good idea in the first place but in all fairness they did happen to consider the feelings of the parents and the kids involved to some extent by repeating that it’s hard to choose from them. During the first two shows  there were just eliminations . In the last show, however the present or the award was given to all the kids who were finalists. I don’t know if  that was because the producers had decided so in the first instance or it was because of Nadeem Jafri as he was very insistent that he has been called to judge so he does not want to see any baby left out without the present.

Apart from the conceptual the differences that some people might have with finding one baby who has to act and look the cutest, the program was very interesting to watch. The kids had  stimulating activities and judges  of the first episode, Sara Kashif and Khushi Maheen were very cute.

If you are a child lover and enjoy the antics that toddlers and preschoolers can produce when in the mood, then you must watch the recording of this program. You will not be disappointed as there were some very cute babies and very loving parents and very  funny hosts and judges in Salam Zindagi in these three episodes, aired on the 28th, 29th and 31st of July. It is something you can enjoy if you want to watch a common Tv show with your kids.

One thing that really stood out in today’s episode, on the last day of competition was Faysal Quraishi’s dressing.

Ali Zafar and Maya Ali are making their Pakistani debut with ‘Teefa in Trouble’. Needles to say, we have high expectations with both. The shooting of the movie has just wrapped up and it seems that both the stars have fell short of words for the amount of fun they had on-sets and the love they received.

After Maya Ali and her emotional tribute to the end of her Teefa journey, Ali Zafar has also penned down a letter and we must say that is far more touching than we expected. Uploading the picture on his Instagram account, the ace singer wrote:

Ali Zafar will be playing the lead character ‘Teefa’ while Maya Ali will be starring opposite him as ‘Anya’. We hope that the film rules box office as much as it has ruled our heart.

Humaima Malick has already appeared in a film across the border with Imran Hashmi. But, she is coming back with another Bollywood film, but with Sanjay Dutt this time. Dutt is the legend in India, and is the stepping stone of India’s entertainment industry.

Humaima has signed the film titled “Sher” with Sanjay Dutt in 2012. But, unfortunately, her Bollywood debut with Dutt was postponed due to his imprisonment. The production has once again been resumed, after his release, and Humaima Malick will be playing the wife of Sanjay Dutt. She will take over her husband’s empire after his death. No tentative release date has been announced yet.

Our very own Meera Jee is finally getting married in August. She has not disclosed about her groom due to nazr e bad issues but according to all reports its none other than Captain Naveed. The functions will take place in Lahore. The grooms family is already in Lahore and now Meera Jee is out shopping for her bridal jora. And who will design her dress? The ace and much loved Indian designer Manish Malhotra. Meera Jee has posted a selfie with him too.

So finally the wedding is happening. We hope Meera Jee looks the way she has imagined on her big day and we wish her all the best for her future!
