Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas Khan are winning hearts with their performances in the hit play O Rangreza. The stars got together for the shoot of a brand and as usual looked lovely and shined in every frame. Seems like the screen couple has become a favourite for everyone. ‘Rangreza’ brings ‘item song’ feat. Gohar Rasheed and 200 transgenders

0

Item songs and dance numbers find deep roots in both Bollywood and Lollywood’s history but ever since the revival of Pakistani film industry not just the audience but also some celebrities, Hamza Ali Abbasi being most prominent in them, have been publicly vocal against the sexual objectification of women in these songs.

But the times have changed just like Ahmed Ali Butt’s performance in ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ song Gohar Rahseed will be performing a dance number ‘Kalu’ in ‘Rangreza’. The song is set to break many stereotypes not only will it be a male item number but also Gohar Rasheed will be seen dancing to the song with no less than 200 transgenders. Some glimpses of the song were also seen in the trailer.

In a recent interview Gohar Rasheed talked about his experience while shooting the song and the stigma seen in our society against transgenders. The Mann Mayal star said,

“The purpose behind Kalu is not to objectify anyone. The basic reason was to show and tell people that even these people – who unfortunately have to face certain stigmas in our society – are immensely talented, the song aims to show people how compassionate, caring, loving and most importantly, good human beings transgenders are.”

Gohar Rasheed also stated that the team Rangreza planned on promoting the film with a small performance of Gohar with transgenders on Kalu in a mall, Gohar explained that the entire crew was psyched about the idea since it’s never been done before but the thought couldn’t be transformed into an action because the shopping mall authorities had a “No Transgenders” policy.

“I was thinking of doing a flash mob with transgenders on Kalu. We thought of doing it at a mall and we were very excited as nothing like this has ever happened before. It broke my heart when the mall authorities informed us that transgenders are not allowed inside.”

He went on to add,

“I keep asking people to not judge them by their gender or their sexuality. I’ve worked with them and they are good human beings. It’s not their fault that they are transgenders. There’s nothing wrong with that anyway but I request people to at least treat them like normal human beings.”

Gohar further stated that the song helped him change his own perception of transgenders and he is thankful for that, he concluded,

“I’m glad that Rangreza changed my perspective on transgenders. I hope it can help change other’s perspectives too.”

Khamoshi Episode 8 Review-Just A Filler!

0

Arsala is finally getting some people in life who are ‘somewhat’ good. The house where she went to work proved to be a nightmare but it was good to see a woman in Pakistani drama not defending her dirty husband. She, on the other hand, asked for forgiveness from Arsala. Haseena proved to be a very sensitive woman which was the total opposite of the way her character was introduced. She found a respectable place for Arsala to work. Amber Khan actually brought an emotional factor to today’s otherwise dull episode. The way she expressed Haseena’s guilt for Arsala’s plight was very good. Since Arsala’s issues can never get hundred percent solved, there is another evil duo waiting for her there. The evil mother and daughter are after Shahram (Bilal Khan) and the mother is already wary of Arsala’s beauty. Bee jee is a nice person and there is finally someone to support Arsala.

Khamoshi Episode 8 Review-Just A Filler!

The track of Arsala’s family has become downright boring. Same dialogues and same wedding issues are going on all the time. Sabir just wants to save money and he is even planning to buy property with it. Naima, on the other hand, is worried about her dowry situation. She wants bara Tv and bara fridge which Atif is not willing to take. The way Naima treats her parents is outrageous and they don’t even try to stop her. She is rude to everyone and still, her whole family puts up with her.

Atif’s is the dumbest character of the century. He is marrying Naima just to hurt Arsala and everyone around him is blind to it including himself. He does not want to acknowledge the facts and blindly keeps burning Arsala’s gifts. He deserves Naima. Both of them are a perfect fit, dumb and evil.

Shahram aka Bilal Khan is finally here with two women already fangirling over him. Things will get difficult for Arsala once he starts showing interest in her. Overall this was a filler episode with only a single development that Arsala is finally at her destination. Let us wait and see what happens with Arsala’s life that finally, her knight in a shining armour is here!

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 20 Review – Mysteries!

This was yet another episode of Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua which had quite a few interesting conversations to its credit. For the first time however I want the drama to pick up pace especially because of the fact that we know absolutely nothing about Siraj Uncle’s background. The way the writer is making the viewers wait certainly suggests that he has a big surprise in store. Gradually the mystery surrounding Tipu’s character is being revealed, his intentions at this point are quite clear. Although Tipu has the most unusual way of looking out for the people he loves but even then one can clearly see that he is incapable of harming anyone. Even though he tricked Maya into entering in a nikkah with him but he has all the qualities of an anti-hero. One of the finest aspects of Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s scripts is that there are plenty of surprises in store right till the end! The characters never reveal themselves quickly which keeps the viewers guessing. Also, some characters which seem somewhat unimportant can at some point play a role which turns the main tracks around. Tipu’s character is one such addition in this play, he keeps you guessing and wondering. Although his stepmother treated him badly when he was a kid but tonight he could not even see her moving out of the house, this showed that Tipu wasn’t as negative a person as he wants people to believe he is! Imran Ashraf owns his role completely, he brings out the different shades in Tipu’s personality brilliantly on screen.

Faris’ reaction when Lubna said she had decided to move in with him was surprising. He wasn’t upset only because he lost the bet but it looked like he wasn’t eager to have Lubna around him all the time. He made it clear to Siraj Uncle in the previous episode that he was in love with Zoya and could never feel that way about Lubna. In this episode, when Lubna went to give him coffee, his response was really rude. The rose and thorns scene seemed like a “warning” too. I am waiting to find out why he is so upset with this latest development. Although Faris didn’t get a lot of screen time in tonight’s episode but Sami Khan made his presence felt in all the scenes. Faris is another person who is full of surprises, sometimes he is a complete gentleman and at other times he totally shuts people out without thinking about their feelings.

Lubna and Siraj Uncle at this point are more close to each other than Faris and Lubna. Their connection is heart-warming and their conversations meaningful and interesting. It looks like Lubna has finally moved on, for the first time before making a major decision, she didn’t think about how Saif would react if he finds out that she was living in Faris’ house. Ultimately it was Siraj Uncle who convinced her to take this decision.

The revelation that Tipu took permission from Maya’s father before entering into a nikkah with her was yet another surprise. I had been waiting to see Zoya and Maya in the same frame but their scene together in this episode was a little too short. Also, the fact that Maya didn’t get in touch with Faris again is rather odd. How can she be so sure that he will welcome her back in his life once Tipu divorces her? The preview of the next episode showed Maya finding out about Tipu’s actual intentions.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua has been directed superbly throughout, the director Shahid Shafat has done everything he could to give this drama a different feel and he has succeeded in giving this script the right treatment. This drama also has some amazing performances to its credit. However, the drama needs to pick up pace now so that the story can be concluded in the next 4 episodes or so.

Aangan Episode 3 Review – Perfection!

Ohkay so, another week, another brilliant episode of Aangan. I love how all the characters have such strong personalities & the writer has made them obvious effortlessly. I like how the focus shifts from one character to another & even then, all the characters get the same amount of coverage.

So, the argument that Rubina & Laila had turned into a big fight where everyone jumped in. Hajra tried to do as much damage control as she could but then again, she was dealing with Rubina the ultimate victim. Laila is the misunderstood one in this house so it was good to see Hajra taking her side. Sadly, Kulsoom saw everything that happened & she backed off. I laughed a lot at how Allauddin didn’t miss a chance to portray himself as a victim in front of a stranger too. The way Allauddin & Anila always make it all about themselves is amusing, even now Anila was mad that it was Hajra who took tha decision of visiting Kulsoom’s place without involving her. As I said last week, the fact that a daughter in law makes most of the decisions is something that a daughter finds hard to absorb & that is the reason why Anila was so bothered plus Allauddin to phir hai hi teeli laganay ke liye!

So, the son Shafiq who is settled in Germany got a little introduction in this episode. It seems he is too busy living his own life that he barely remembers he has a family backhome too. For Shafiq keeping in touch with his family is just a formality & he keeps himself out of all such family affairs where he is needed. I liked how Laila told Asim that he should talk to Shafiq about Sadaan’s education. Laila is educated that is why she feels passionately about everyone’s education, be it Sadaan or Rubina’s children.

In this episode I liked Shaina’s input a lot, like she is someone who not only understands Zoya’s struggles but is also well aware of the heavylifting that her mother Hajra, being a bari bahu has to do. It was actually quite sweet how Shaina tried to talk Zoya out of her depression by saying that the proposal wasn’t so good & that she was being invited into that family to run the house like Hajra.. So, after seeing Zoya’s condition, Hajra has come to the conclusion that she’d get Shaina married first & that obviously put Sadaan in a big trouble.

Well, coming to Zahid, I don’t know why but for some reason the characters that are religious are always shown in a bad light in our dramas & that is the only complain I have with Aangan too. I know in this case Zahid sparks a comedy & he is presented in a different way but the overall message that is being imparted through his character is not so positive because it is being shown that in order to fulfill his religious duties, he is compromising upon his basic responsibilities towards his wife & kids. I know people like Zahid do exist but wouldn’t it have been so amazing if it was shown that Zahid was responsible while still being religious? I do like his character a lot but the way he treated his wife & ignored her only so that he could go for preaching basically showcased how aloof & irresponsible he was when it came to Rubina, which basically meant that he wasn’t doing things the right way because he has religion as his priority! Anyways, it was amusing to see how he sided with Rubina & jumped into that fight where Hajra once again reminded him that he should stay out of all this!

There are a little things that make this drama so real & relateable & I kept on noticing how much detailing has gone into bringing this story to life like Laila’s bedroom depicted how decent Asim’s income is & the taste Laila has which is quite classy & refind. Zahid’s bedroom showcases his simplicity & also depicts that Rubina’s comes from a very normal background. The gold bangles that Zaitoon wears are old fashioned & the color has faded off too, which reminds me of the bangles that we see our grandmothers carrying. Since Sajjad takes care of the household expenses, he has a BP problem & takes medicine for it. We all know that BP is related to stress so it very well showcases how stressful Sajjad’s life is. All these things show how much attention to detail has been paid while making this drama & that is why it has such a huge impact & looks complete.

Overall, it was another perfect episode of Aangan. I liked how the preview of the next episode was basically a continuity of the note at which this episode ended, which was Laila & Asim’s childlessness. I must say all the actors are performing brilliantly but Irsa Ghazal, Noor ul Hassan, Iffat Omar, Uzma Hassan & Waseem Abbas deserve a special mention. Qavi Khan & Samina Ahmed are a class apart & they both as parents are simply perfect. Can not wait to see what more is in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aangan!

Shayyad Episode 4 Review – More Highs Than Lows

0

Chotha Hissa – Judai

Shayyad is turning out to be an interesting play which is a must-watch for all those viewers out there who enjoy watching well written romantic stories. Saad’s character is turning out to be an extremely likeable one, I don’t remember the last time I saw a character like this one in one of our dramas. The fact that Uzair Jaswal has translated this character on screen in such an impressive manner definitely helps, he doesn’t appear to be a bechara because he is not helpless, gullible and a dimwit (a character which we have seen on screen a little too often) but you feel for him because his feelings for Hani are genuine and pure. He is not weak because he takes a stand and does whatever he can to protect Hani. Most often such sweet male characters are shown as helpless individuals who rely entirely on the women they love (remember Harib) but Saad is someone who right from day one when he was a little kid has given Hani the emotional support she needed which is why even though he is much younger than Hani, he has contributed a great deal to this relationship.

Tonight’s episode revealed a great deal about Salar’s character even though his scenes were short but his conversations with his mother and Hani showed that he was a self-conceited individual for whom his own happiness came before everything else. Salar ordered his mother to go ask for Hani’s hand and didn’t even bother waiting for her reply. I am slightly disappointed with his character because he isn’t a likeable person therefore I am wondering why Hani will consciously get married to someone who has such an intimidating personality. Salar told Hani off more than once and made it clear that he wanted their meetings to be about him – whatever he wanted to talk about – he is clearly a person who likes to dictate and control. He hasn’t kept this side of his personality hidden from Hani but even then Hani is falling in love with him even more. The conversation in the car about not expecting anything from him unless he makes promises should have been a warning. I still feel like I don’t know Hani well enough, there are times when she seems like an opinionated woman and then there are times like these when it looks like she will allow someone who fascinates her walk all over her. Hani fell for Salar the second she saw him but later on she also gave him a piece of her mind when he said things she didn’t like therefore Hani’s reactions tonight were surprising.

Shayyad Episode 4 Review - More Highs Than Lows

There were some scenes in this episode which highlighted the difference between Saad and Salar. While Saad was more than willing to listen to Hani talk about Salma for as long as she wanted because he knew that would make her happy, Salar told her off the second she mentioned Salma. Saad puts Hani’s happiness before his own, in fact whatever makes her happy, makes him happy as well but things are completely different with Salar. Salma’s track took an unexpected turn with this episode. Although the eloping scene was slightly long and the music loud but it was filmy in an interesting way, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it especially because it resulted in a significant development in the story.

The background score in some of the scenes in tonight’s episode was so loud that it was distracting. Salma’s scenes once again were painful to watch because of the get-up of the actress playing the role more than anything else. There was no need for her to wear so much make-up and a see through chiffon duppatta looked completely out of place when she was eloping! Although I absolutely love Nauman Ijaz’s natural portrayals but I felt that Salar’s character should have been underplayed in this particular episode. Sadia Khan’s acting in this episode was relatively better but there is a lot of focus on her character and she doesn’t always do justice to the attention which is being given to her. Uzair Jaswal is the star of the show so far. Some of the scenes tonight were somewhat rushed as well but overall it was an interesting episode which definitely gave me a reason to tune into the next episode. I am very interested in finding out how Hani’s brother reacts once Salar sends the proposal since Salma’s dialogues in this episode hinted that this family was very particular about the men they got their daughters married to. Will Salar fit the bill? And if this proposal is rejected, what extent will Hani go to in order to be with him? How will Saad react once he finds out that Hani is not in love with him? I am waiting to find out.

O Rangreza Episode 18 Review – A Miss!

Ohkay so, after a hit previous episode, this week’s episode was a miss & I am sure by now everyone is well aware of the reason. Yes, it was because Tipu got so much of coverage that I literally struggled to sit through this episode, so much so that I completed watching it in 4 installments!

Well, it was good to see Mumtaz standing up for herself but the result was as expected. Khayyam blamed her for faulty upbringing, packed his bags & went to Sonia only to remember the breakfast Mumtaz used to make for him & the hard time he gave her for it not being ‘perfect’. The only good thing in this situation is that Khayyam has slowly & steadily started realizing Mumtaz’s worth & that is why he is not as enthusiastic about his relation with Sonia as he used to be!

For the first time, I got irritated by Sassi, not because she is chasing her dreams or is standing up for herself but because she was now sounding all philosophical which was so unlike her. Sassi was never deep or an intellect, she was unfiltered & straight forward, so to see her muttering while being lost in her thoughts was quite annoying. She is now getting to do what she wants so why is she getting so affected by the restrictions Tipu is putting on her? As if she is going to pay heed to him!

Finally, Qasim showed the signs that could make Sassi fall for him because he not only took a stand for her but protected her as well. Even Sassi knows that she needs the kind of support Qasim extends towards her but that’s all she wants & nothing else!

So, Meena has now become Tipu’s captive, this entire situation is not only ridiculous but absolutely unnecessary. Fine, we get it, the writer is showing Sassi as a female version of a man & he is showing double standards of men too but then can we move on? There’s no point in screaming the point because the point has been made! I swear, I don’t think in the past any actor has annoyed me as much as Hamza Firdous, seriously it is hard to look at him! I now feel the story is going around in circles, like Khayyam packing his bags & leaving? Didn’t this happen before? & yet he was at the same page after so many episodes? Talk about being monotonous! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of O Rangreza!

Waqar Zaka Accuses Sharmeen and Shoaib of Cashing Pakistan’s Bad Image

Waqar Zaka is most commonly known as the host for the show called “Living on the edge” ever since then he became a social activist and is known to make the headlines on and off because of something he said or did or was done to him anyway he has done it again, this time he has slammed the academy award winner Sharmeen Obaid and critically acclaimed director Shoaib Mansoor for cashing Pakistan’s bad image.

Waqar Zaka Accuses Sharmeen and Shoaib of Cashing Pakistan's Bad Image

In his recent video Waqar Zaka claims that in the name of ‘awareness’ people like Sharmeen and Shoaib are only making money, if they truly want to aware the masses why don’t they upload their films on social media forms or show them for free.

He further added that cinema is a form of entertainment and people watch movies to be entertained while Sharmeen and Shoaib make the kind of movies that only depress the audience he went on and said that it’s like buying depression.

Waqar Zaka Accuses Sharmeen and Shoaib of Cashing Pakistan's Bad Image

He used 18+ language and openly accused both directors of taking advantage of Pakistan’s situation, he said that we are all well aware of the dire situation the country is in but cinema is for entertainment not for such depressing films also if both of them really wanted to do something for the cause they could have used the money they invested in the films to help facilitate the victims in getting jobs or education etc.

He further accused Shoaib of always trying to stand out, he said that when everyone was working on meaningful projects Shoaib Mansoor introduced a comedy show named “Fifty Fifty‘ and now that most of the industry is focused on comedy shows he is bringing the serious topics in because he wants to stand out.

He reviewed Verna by saying that after watching a movie like that all women will be scared of being raped and if kids watch it they will be encouraged to rape because kids usually get inspired by movies and the heroes and villains in them.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 21 Review – Super Sweet!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was again very sweet despite being a bit tooooooo slow for my liking, but then again, when your favorite characters are having good time, you tend to enjoy a slow episode too!

I liked how Zaid was loving being a husband & a father again. Zaid was always shown to be such sort of a person who would be sincerely committed to the one he loved that is why he was now behaving the exact same way he used to behave with Fizza because now he was in love with Amna.

It was beautiful seeing how Amna was enjoying everything, every little gesture that Zaid did for her & Omar, that is why she told Omar that Zaid was his father as she could see how devoted Zaid was towards them.

All the scenes that they showed like Zaid & Amna attending a dinner & then going out for shopping, dine outs & Zaid buying gifts for her was very sweet & it was refreshing to see a healthy & beautiful relationship in a drama for a change. As we are so used to seeing toxic marital relationships on screen, this one came as a breath of fresh air because there was so much ‘normalcy’ that was being shown in regards to marriage. The best part about this entire scenario was that after a long journey of hardships & trials, Zaid & Amna were both at a happy place that too as a family & things were being favorable for them!

Since we are so used to the idea of something bad happening when the characters are happy, I was dreading an accident when Amna was on her way back to Karachi from Hyderabad, but thankfully nothing of that sort happened but unfortunately a bigger accident in the form of Fizza & Ahmed was waiting for both Zaid & Amna. The moment Zaid was about to open the gate, I knew it was going to be Fizza, first because it was a gut feeling & second because I could see different colored clothes through the gate, lol!

Overall, it was a very nice episode & I like the positive feel of this drama. Imran Abbas & Sarah Khan as a couple look adorable & I love their chemistry. I am definitely looking forward to Zaid & Fizza’s confrontation & what Amna’s reaction would be. Fizza has only had a bad impact on Zaid’s life & once again, now that Zaid was emotionally settled, she has showed up to ruin his peace. Let’s see how things’d roll. Teri Raza Episode 21 Review – Ridiculous!

Seriously this drama is ridiculous & most of its characters are psychos. It is absolutely insane how the writer is trying to normalize the most awkward situations.

So, Miss Suhana the brat was not only unhappy that Imtiyaz was getting engaged to Seema, she also had the audacity to call & order him that he shouldn’t, why, because Suhana the brat was saying so? Seriously? I loved Imtiyaz’s response to Suhana that she was no one to boss him around because she lost that right after their divorce. It is absolutely insane how the writer is trying to show that it is okay for an ex wife to meddle into such personal affairs of her ex husband & if he doesn’t listen to her, she has all the right in the world to be mad about it.

Not only Suhana, her psychotic mother was also mad about this entire scenario. I mean seriously? Why were they the ones complaining, after all that they & their psycho daughter Suhana put Imtiyaz through? I was also shocked at Suhana’s amman pan, like she wasn’t allowing Imtiyaz to get legally & lawfully married to Seema while she herself was involved in an extra marital affair with Rameez? Talk about being blind to one’s own fault to the core!

Well, I always knew Rameez was the most nonsensical character after Suhana that the writer came up with but I was actually surprised even more when a non serious guy like him who didn’t even believe in Istikhara was now asking his mother to get it done to see if Suhana was his Ms. Right? Seriously? When & how did Rameez became so concerned about such things? Why was he now dual minded & was calculating right & wrong when his sense of right & wrong died while chasing a married woman? Why didn’t Rameez think before whether he was doing the right thing or not by when he was dating a married woman? What crap is this? Please share your thoughts about this episode of Teri Raza.

Baaghi Episode 18 Review – Slow-Paced & Repititive

This was yet another episode of Baaghi which showed multiple people trying to exploit Kanwal Baloch’s “fame”. Kanwal Baloch has been shown as someone who has great pride and believes in working hard even though she is getting fame from her facebook videos but that particular shortcut is also been shown as something she does to “vent out”. Therefore it can safely be concluded that Kanwal never made these videos to get famous but she made them to share her views with anyone who is interested in hearing them! However, her get-up for her “special appearance” on social media and her body language etc somehow does not count as cheap tactics to get fame! I have always felt that the writer has tried extra hard not only to make a victim out of this character but is also constantly making excuses for Qandeel Baloch! In a way the writer is justifying her actions by showing that she was never looking for the kind of attention she got and also proving that she was a really naive girl who didn’t know the first thing about being diplomatic.

Baaghi Episode 18 Review - Slow-Paced & Repititive

Kanwal Baloch’s meeting with those people who came to interview her was the biggest joke! Someone who has been trying so hard to get into the industry should have jumped at the opportunity to meet someone who could possibly help her in furthering her career. Kanwal Baloch’s response to the call however was casual and her attitude with those people even more careless. Basically, everything we have seen so far prove that Kanwal speaks her mind and holds her self-respect very dear yet she isn’t out there looking for a real job yet she can afford a fairly decent lifestyle!

Kanwal’s brother yet again got into a fight because of her appearance on television this time around. Even though Kanwal left her family a long time back but she is influencing her family in more ways than one. Everything has drastically changed and her family is in dire need of money…something which has been shown over and over again! Yes, we get the message, can we please move on? The preview of the next episode suggested that her family will need money more than ever and that is probably why she will eventually accept that offer from Goher!

Shehryar’s character turned out to be a “dude in distress”! It is disappointing to see Osman Khalid Butt being typecast in these bechara roles. Shehryar has his own dukhi background therefore he isn’t a knight in shining armor but someone who also needs saving!

The story is going around in circles and the drama is extremely slow paced. The scenes covering Kanwal’s journey and her track in general is highly repetitive. Right from the beginning Baaghi’s script has been too plain, the characters are unappealing and the story lacks depth and vision. No amount of star power can make up for a weak script and poor characterizations.

Mansha Pasha Exposes A Fake Facebook Page In Her Name

Identity theft is becoming increasingly common. As the whole world has started staying online for all things, thieves no longer enter through your doors and windows, rather they can appear out of thin air through your digital presence.

Celebrities are also victims of these thefts nowadays and a similar incidence happened with Mansha Pasha. A Facebook page ; Mansha Cloth House is doing business and dealings in her name. She had even started getting orders and complaints as the customers believed her to be the owner of that online retailer.

That has understandably left Mansha left enraged and she has exposed the wrongdoers. Look at what she has to say about them;

Salman Ahmed To Release A Trubitary Documentary For Junaid Jamshed

Salman Ahmed and Junaid Jamshed have a long history. They were friends and partners and mates in the youth of their lives, when friendships are strong and sturdy and fully capable of lasting the whole lifetimes. After some constraints in their relationship, they had  accepted their differences and were the best of friends again.

Life, however had other plans and Junaid Jamshed very unexpectedly left for his eternal abode last year. That has made Salman Ahmed very nostalgic and he has made a documentary with the help of Imraan Khan who is a US based cinematographer and director about all the times they had spent together. It is his tribute to one of his oldest friends and is called Ansoo-the life and times of aVital Sign.

Dar Si Jati Hei Sila Episode 3 Review – Exceptional Performances

Like every other episode of Dar Si Jati Hei Sila, this one too had some amazing performances to its credit. I am especially impressed with Nauman Ijaz and Yumna Zaidi’s perfect portrayals of characters which are not easy to translate on screen. Nauman Ijaz never ceases to impress the viewers with his versatility and performances which make you forget even his most impressive recent performances. Every time you watch him play a role on screen you think that he cannot outdo this one but he surprises you even more with his next project! Joi’s character has many shades, he is a completely different person when he is with Sadia and Sila and someone completely trustworthy and decent when he is around Sikandar especially. One thing about his character which stands out more than any other is that on the surface he appears to be a completely harmless man who one wouldn’t expect to be smart enough to blackmail and mentally torture someone. Sila’s character is especially difficult to translate on screen because she doesn’t have a lot of dialogues. Most often Yumna Zaidi has to convey Sila’s feelings through her body language and expressions and she is doing so remarkably. Yumna Zaidi is a powerful performer who puts her heart and soul into all her projects and this one isn’t too different either.

Sikandar’s character played by Saleem Sheikh was introduced in this episode. The way Sadia and Sila reacted to his arrival was strange even though Sadia told her husband that she felt more secure when he was around but Sila and Sadia somehow looked fearful when they learned that he was there. Sikandar’s attitude towards his wife and daughter is the main reason why Joi is so confident. Sikandar did not even acknowledge his daughter and does not even respect his wife therefore they have absolutely no support in the house. Sikandar continuously implied that Sadia had the ideal life and cannot even remotely relate to how life must be for his wife and daughter. The scene in which the entire family was taking a picture and Sadia was standing behind the curtain watching them reminded me of the scene in ORangreza in which Sassi, Khayyam and Sonia Jahan were taking a picture and Mumtaz was looking at them like an outsider.

Dar Si Jati Hei Sila Episode 3 Review - Exceptional Performances

The way Raheel pressurized Sila to do something to stop this marriage from taking place was terribly sad. Although it is understandable why he feels he can never be happy with Sila, I didn’t expect him to pressurize Sila the way he did. There were few scenes in which it looked like Zaini actually cared for Sila. Although she clearly flirts with Raheel and belittles Sila every chance she gets but there were a few scenes in which she looked genuinely concerned for Sila. Some of the scenes covering the family politics tend to be clichéd but other than that the overall feel of the play is different.

Right from the first episode Joi has been trying his best to ensure that Sila does not get married. In the previous episodes he was trying to prove that Sila was mentally unfit and tonight he kept on telling Sila that Raheel was in love with Zaini. The preview of the next episode showed that Sila will finally succumb to the pressure.

Saman Ansari and Sakina Samo have also been performing exceptionally well. So far, the family dynamics have been shown in such a way that you clearly understand why it is so easy for Joi to exploit Sila and Sadia. Sila’s character represents every girl like her out there who has no one to turn to and absolutely no one who understands her. The pace of the drama is slow but it has enough substance to keep your interest alive. I do hope however that the story picks up pace in upcoming weeks. The overall feel and the way this drama has been directed is superb so far.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

On-screen chemistry can do wonders for actors especially when it is backed by solid characterizations. This on-screen chemistry can sometimes even make the most average scripts work and when the script itself is outstanding then the combination gives the viewers on-screen couples which they don’t forget for a really long time. There are some experienced actors who naturally share chemistry with every co-star but there were some newcomers who literally stole the hearts of the viewers this year because these couples had meant for each other written all over them even though their circumstances weren’t always ideal. Some of the on-screen couples in this list didn’t share screen space for the first time and others were completely brand new but definitely a match made in heaven! These on-screen couples made the viewers connect to them instantly and made their relationships come alive on screen.

Here is a list of the best on-screen couples of dramas which aired in 2017.

Zubiya and Asfand Yar (Yakeen Ka Safar)

Zubiya and Asfandyar were two strong individuals who had dealt with their fair share of miseries of life, but when their paths finally met, they found a special kind of solace and companionship. Asfand despite keeping the doors of his heart closed couldn’t resist the charm of Zubiya’s positive personality and Zubiya also saw that Asfand could be the one for her. Their chemistry was beyond brilliant and the fact that these characters did not share a regular relationship with too many conversations made it even more special. They understood each other’s feelings without relying on words because they were soulmates, meant to be together! These two had made for each other written all over them and their journey was shown in such a way that the viewers couldn’t help but root for them. Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir looked perfect together!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Arman and Pareesa (Muqabil)

Arman and Pareesa’s characters and their relationship was one of a kind. Arman was the son of the man who abused Pareesa when she was a child and Pareesa decided to marry him because she thought that it was the best way to avenge the person who abused her. The circumstances under which these two characters met and got married were anything but ideal. Their journey was difficult and their relationship challenging but it didn’t take Pareesa too long to fall in love with Arman. Arman helped Pareesa heal and in the process got hurt too. Ultimately, their story had a beautiful ending. Mohsin Abbas Haider and Kubra Khan’s spellbinding performances coupled with the potent on-screen chemistry these two actors shared made their scenes a treat to watch. Even when the pace of the drama slowed down these two were the only reason why the viewers tuned into Muqabil for weeks.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Hayat and Zaki (Yeh Raha Dil)

Hayat and Zaki hated each other when they met but despite being committed Zaki couldn’t stop falling in love with Hayat because he realized that she was compatible and a perfect match. Hayat completed Zaki and balanced him out because they both were poles apart. Hayat was sorted and focused, Zaki was lost and clueless and that is what made their relationship interesting. It was a downer that they both, together didn’t get much coverage in the drama because the viewers wanted to see more of them as they were in love with their couple. Yumna Zaidi and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s chemistry was beautiful!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Maheen and Waqar (Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei)

The sole reason why this couple made it to this list is the magical on-screen chemistry between Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan. Maheen and Waqar had hardly any interactions in the drama, most of their thoughts for each other were conveyed through conversations with other people but every time these two actors came face to face the electrifying chemistry between them won the viewers over completely. Even though Waqar and Maheen’s actual love story (the declaration of love and everything that followed) was covered in a few episodes but the viewers couldn’t help but connect to their story and feel their pain. Maheen and Waqar’s beautiful and tragic love story will stay in the minds of the viewers for a really long time!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Gulrez and Maheen (Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei)

Gulrez and Maheen’s track for the most part was a case of one-sided love story. Gulrez loved Maheen unconditionally but Maheen didn’t even feel attracted towards him. This situation resulted in a love triangle like no other and ultimately Gulrez and Maheen ended up together but in the most unusual circumstances. Gulrez’s love for Maheen and the relationship these two shared after they got married was the highlight of the drama. Even though their scenes together weren’t covered in detail but every time these two came face to face their interactions were powerful as well as poignant. Gulrez and Maheen’s relationship was one-of-a-kind and therefore really special. Shehzad sheikh and Ayeza Khan’s outstanding performances especially in the last few episodes and their on-screen chemistry made their on-screen couple one which the viewers won’t forget for a really long time.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Hammad and Sara (Khuda Aur Mohabbat)

Even though Hammad met Sara after losing Imaan but their chemistry was undeniable right from the beginning. Even though Sara wasn’t fond of Hammad in the beginning, the fact that she got to realize the purpose of her life after learning about the struggles of Hammad made their relationship unique. Hammad was too engulfed in his sorrow of losing Imaan that he couldn’t find a place in his heart or life for Sara, but the fact that Sara promised to follow the footsteps of Hammad when it came to leading her life showed how much she loved him. They both didn’t get to be together, but the viewers definitely rooted for them both as they made a perfect couple.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Hammad and Imaan (Khuda Aur Mohabbat)

This couple was a depiction of true love and their feelings for each other were pure. For a guy like Hammad to fall for a girl like Imaan who belonged to a completely different realm was magical because after that Hammad’s journey of love as well as self-realization began. Even though Hammad and Imaan didn’t have many interactions, the few that they had left a huge impact and made the viewers fall in love with their couple. Imran Abbas and Saadia Khan’s chemistry was phenomenal and so strong that they actually struck a chord every time they were seen together in one frame!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Gaiti and Daniyal (Yakeen Ka Safar)

This couple was an embodiment of mutual respect that a husband and wife should have towards each other. Gaiti’s love for Daniyal was strong yet selfless because even though their relationship lasted for a very short span of time, Gaiti stood by Daniyal even before she got married to him because she understood him & respected his choices. No wonder why all the viewers shed tears when they saw Gaiti mourning the death of Daniyal.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Gaiti and Haroon (Yakeen Ka Safar)

The fact that Hira and Mani are a real life couple made their on-screen couple a bit more special. The characters of Gaiti and Haroon convinced everyone to feel and root for them because of the hardships that life threw their way. To know that they both ended up together and made each other happy left the viewers feeling contented too. It was good to see Hira and Mani in a different setting playing such likeable characters, something that they have never done before.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Sassi and Qasim (O Rangreza)

Even though their love story ended before even beginning and the character of Sassi has taken a very different turn but the way Qasim’s love for Sassi was portrayed in the initial episodes made their couple seem very special. Qasim is the only one who understands Sassi like no other and Sassi is comfortable in front of him because she has spent her life with him. Sassi didn’t know how much Qasim loved her & she got to know about his feelings on the day they both were supposed to get married but since Qasim knew what Sassi wanted he backed out in order to set her free, proving how selfless yet strong his love was. Even though the chances are slim we’re definitely rooting for them and looking forward to their magical love-story because they both look absolutely cute together!

Alif Allah Aur Insaan Episode 31 Review – Decent Episode!

Ohkay so, despite being slow it was a pretty decent episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan. I liked it for a fact that the original characters went through such events that would bring a change in their lives & it was a high time something like that happened because the story was stagnant from weeks & it wasn’t sparking any interest!

So, Baba Jee passed away & Shahzeb was finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that his guide, his mentor, his friend & his well wisher was no more. For Shahzeb, Baba Jee was everything as he used to turn to him whenever he looked for an answer but sadly, things were now going to change for Shahzeb. The last conversation that Shahzeb had with Baba Jee was basically the crux of everything that he ever taught Shahzeb & that was going to stay with him for the rest of his life!

Nanzeen now came to live with her university friend & there was this new entry which was only added to give Nazneen’s track a closure. Taimur seemed quite interested in Nazneen so I won’t be surprised if they both will end up together. Even though it is too early to say but may be Nazneen will get to live a comfortable life but without the love that she imagined & experienced only for Basit. I know nothing is a done deal but then I don’t see any other reason behind the introduction of Taimur’s character!

So this university wali bacha party became fraaaands again, yayyy & not to be forgotten the samosas & pakoras arranged by Arsalan because it was such an important detail! Duh!

So, just because Reena feared that her daughter Pakeeza will turn out to be like her & it was imperative that she would if Reena’d raise her in such an environment, she decided to let go of her daughter as she realized that she won’t be able to do good by that child. It was good that Nawazish’s wife not only seemed happy but embraced that baby like a mother. Even though Reena made a sacrifice, it was beneficial for her baby girl. I liked how they showed Reena’s struggle to come to this decision because it was like she was at the dead end of everything, she has nowhere to go, she couldn’t return to where she came from & then she also couldn’t stay where she was at, with her daughter, that is why giving it to Nawazish was her only option!

Overall, this episode was pretty decent but I am still not sure where the story is headed & most importantly why? Let’s see if they’ll give this drama a decent ending or not. Oh yes, I am getting put off by the forced philosophy, first that scene of Basit in this episode & now in the preview, Zimmal’s philosophical conversation with Basit about love? Zimmal’s sick obsession with love is cringe worthy especially when she tries so hard to look & sound deep! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

“I want to do something that is out of the box” says Bilal Abbas Khan

0

No one is alien to this name, not anymore, our very own Qasim from O Rangreza. This O Rangreza star started his career with drama serials like Saya e Deewar Bhi Nahin, Dumpukht and Rasm e Duniya. The actor also has a feature film named ‘Thora Jee Le’ to his credits tho it wasn’t that huge a commercial success but we did get a talent house called Bilal Abbas Khan from it so not a complete loss after all.

"I want to do something that is out of the box" says Bilal Abbas Khan

In a recent interview Bilal gave some insights on not only his current projects but also on his future ventures and here’s all you need to know.

When asked of how his experience was while working with star cast of O Rangreza here’s what the actor said,

“You know, it’s interesting; I heard that people loved Sajal and her work, and when I met her for the first time, I thought she was “just okay.” However, when I starting working with her, I realised that she has a very strong hold on her craft and is very supportive.”

He went on to add,

“She’s a senior to me career-wise and has been working in the industry for eight years so I learn a great deal from her. She and Noman Ijaz actually taught me how to use my eyes while acting. It’s been amazing working with her.”

"I want to do something that is out of the box" says Bilal Abbas Khan

Talking about the kind of scripts he is looking for now that O Rangreza is such a hit the actor said the following,

“I have been getting quite a few scripts and I am still going through them. I think I want to do something dark and intense now. I don’t want to play the ‘hero’. I saw the trailer of Padmavati recently and Ranveer Singh’s avatar in it – I absolutely loved it.”

He further added,

“I want to do something that is out of the box. Maybe a negative character which is something that is very different from my personality. That being said, there is no specific criteria because what I truly want to do is experiment and test my potential as an actor.”

"I want to do something that is out of the box" says Bilal Abbas Khan

Bilal also mentioned some of the directors he’d like to work with in future,

“My favourite director is Kashif Nisar and I got to work with him in O Rangreza. I’m fortunate enough to be working on his next project as well. I would also love to work with Ehteshamuddin, Farooq Rind and Mehreen Jabbar. Mehreen’s work is phenomenal and has uniqueness to it.”

"I want to do something that is out of the box" says Bilal Abbas Khan

Talking about his current and future ventures the actor gave the following insights,

“I am currently doing a project that is written by Zafar Mairaj, where I am starring alongside Iqra Aziz and Shehzad sheikh. It’s being directed by Ahmed Bhatti. There are a few other interesting projects lined up but the filming hasn’t begun.”

He also added,

“I like to live in the moment and enjoy what I am doing right now so maybe in the future. Although the one thing that I am sure of is that acting is my full-time job and I would never leave it.”

"I want to do something that is out of the box" says Bilal Abbas Khan

We wish this rising star all the luck and anxiously await to see him experiment with his craft as he polishes his skills and turns himself into a mega-star.

Khaani Episode 3 Review – What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger

Here we are just done with the third episode of this play and things are not looking up, atleast story wise. The performances were brilliant though especially Rashid Farouqi and Salma Hassan. Mehmood Aslam and Saman Ansari are totally owning their characters as always.

Now Khaani has decided to turn over a new leaf of valour and bravery after she heard her parents feeling so helpless and desperate and wanting to end the court case against Mir Hadi to protect their daughters. This makes Khaani turn into a girl not afraid of anything. Don’t know why but despite the fact that Sana is looking beautiful sans makeup and she is acting well too, but its still seeming more like a good performance rather than the natural expressions of a bereaved sister. It’s not very easy to relate to her pain and that I hope changes soon. She has now denounced any intention her parents had of signing a forgiveness agreement so Hadi can be spared, but it is a bit unbelievable that now sensible strong parents who have always had such a hold on their kids are suddenly so indecisive that Khaani is making decisions for them, but then, grief does change people totally unlike themselves so that’s plausible that they cannot determine which way they really want to go. The turmoil of a father who loves his own daughters like sons but understands the limitations put on him by the society and wants to stay in the back foot so his girls are away from all harm was brilliantly executed by Rashid Farouqi. Tha man commands respect with his performance and grip on the scenes.

In the Mir’s household, their dynamics are driven by power, money and fame and Mehmood Aslam is shown to take every step with uncanny precision. They couldn’t have chosen a better Mir Shah than him. Saman Ansari, though experienced in playing such roles of a big man’s wife, is still refreshingly flawless as Sitara. A un empathetic, arrogant woman who thinks of people with lower status as lesser beings, and money has totally deluded her to rights and wrongs.

Khaani Episode 3 Review - What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger

Coming to our hero and villain in one Feroze Khan, what we basically saw today was his aggressive attempts to make Khaani agree to forgive him with the help of his goons. Mir Hadi sirf hansna janta hai, kiyun kay woh logon ko rulana janta hai.. very distasteful indeed !!

Khaani Episode 3 Review - What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger

Now I really hope all he stays is a psychotic obsessive lover and never becomes Khaani’s romantic interest in the play because that will twist the ethics of this story on many levels. They are showing him to be so egocentric and villainous that no room is left for any soft spot for him.

It seems the battle of maafi nama continues far into the next episode as well.. stay tuned…

Verna – Film Review

Writer & Director – Shoaib Mansoor
Produced by: SHOWMAN Productions
Starring: Mahira Khan, Haroon Shahid, Zarrar Khan, Naimal Khawar, Rasheed Naz, Salman Shaukat, Shaid Mir, Shehzad Mir & Others.

Verna was promoted as a film with a message and it was also quite apparent from the promotions that Mahira Khan and Shoaib Mansoor were the USP of this film. Shoaib Mansoor hasn’t only written, directed and produced this film but he has even written the lyrics for all the songs in the film. Anyone who has seen the trailers of the film must be well aware of the main plot. The question is does the film have enough surprises in store and is it well executed or not? While Verna succeeds in showing the mentality of many of the politicians who are at the helm of affairs in our country faultlessly, it fails to do justice to the other track which covers a victim’s story .  Many of the dialogues in the film have done-to-death written all over them, the kind of things we read and hear about all the time. There are a few hard hitting dialogues in the film but there are so many others which fall completely flat because you hear the characters say those things but you don’t actually feel them.

The trials and tribulations of Sara (Mahira Khan) aren’t translated on screen in such a way that you truly feel for her. Although Sara’s character is the best thing about the film but there were times when I had a really difficult time connecting to her character. Her strength was admirable but some of her decisions and actions did not go well with the otherwise serious and realistic theme of the film. The introduction to the characters is simplistic and the relationship between Sara and Aami (Haroon Shahid) is probably the worst part of the film. Aami’s character is almost unbearable, his only role in the story is to give people the message that children should be given polio drops. There are times when his scenes are laughable. There is absolutely no chemistry between Haroon Shahid and Mahira Khan perhaps because of the fact that their relationship doesn’t have a lot to offer. The “love” that exists between them doesn’t really come alive on screen which is why it is difficult to feel for them when they are going through hell.

Verna - Film Review

Verna’s plot is interesting but the execution is poor. While Mahira Khan performed well and did the best she could to do justice to her character, there were some scenarios so weak that even her acting did not appear to be effortless. Haroon Shahid and Aami both are the worst thing about this film. Aami’s character is poorly etched-out, he is a disabled man both physically and mentally. I am wondering what Shoaib Mansoor was thinking, did he think that a line of weak characters will make his heroine look even more powerful? This film has some of the weakest supporting characters including the parents from both sides. Zarrar Khan performed brilliantly in the film but his character too didn’t have a lot to offer. There were times when it seemed like Sara was the only wise person around!! Naimal Khawar also did complete justice to her character. Adding a few more strong and intelligent supporting characters would have helped make the film more interesting. Verna reminded me of dramas like Chup Raho and Sangat. This is the first time I watched a film directed by Shoaib Mansoor and the lack of creativity stood out like a sore thumb. He failed to establish a solid relationship between the lead characters which was the film’s biggest drawback. All the songs in the film are meaningful but they are not melodious enough. Even the “happy songs” have not been shot in a creative manner. The director hasn’t used a lot of locations which is why the film has a dull feel overall. Apart from a fierce heroine, this film also needed a likeable hero and more logical ending.

Overall, Verna is neither thoroughly entertaining nor as disturbing as it should have been but at the same time it isn’t as poorly executed as Mehrunissa V Lub U. The script lacks depth as well as clarity. It would have been so much better if Shoaib Mansoor focused only on politics and did not drag women’s rights into the discussion since some of the scenarios are just plain ridiculous!

PS. The movie deserves 2.5 rating but since there is no option of .5, I gave it 3!

Dil Nawaz Episode 10 and 11 Review-Woah!

0

This is probably the fastest and most too the point drama on air right now. No fuss, no dragging and proper propagation of the story with each episode. These two episodes have turned the story in a direction that my first reaction was WOAH!! Like any Pakistani or to be more specific Adian story, I expected that Kiran will come at the point of Nikkah and will shout rukk jao Fawad but that didn’t happen shockingly and now Fawad is married to Dil Nawaz. Dil Nawaz is in love with Fawad and like it seemed from the start, she is not an evil entity. But due to Alam Ara she is not in control of her life and cannot save Fawad from his misery.

Kiran and her engagement’s track is being dragged now. She is having nightmares and is aware that something is wrong with Fawad but she is still stuck in an engagement which she didn’t even want in the first place. Kiran’s mother’s character is hands down beautiful. She is a strong woman who believes in her child and trusts her. Rasheeda is reaping what she sowed. Alam Ara is after her and will do anything to make her miserable. Jahan Ara’s character looks like will change a bit in the coming episodes. She has openly started saying that what Alam Ara is doing is wrong and their father will never approve of this.

Dil Nawaz Episode 10 and 11 Review-Woah!

Fawad is a mess now. He is stuck with Dil Nawaz and Alam Ara thinks it was a mere drama and not an original marriage. So she is keeping Dil Nawaz away from him. Fawad’s colleagues and family; everyone is thinking that he is not normal anymore. Rasheeda is not believing about Dil Nawaz and thinks that Fawad has become so aggressive and abnormal because she separated him from Kiran. She is finally thinking about her son rather than her ego but she is too late. Kiran is also late now as she didn’t consider Baba jee’s advice and her mother wants to marry her off as soon as possible to distance herself from the whole environment.

Neelam Muneer did a fabulous job in portraying the powerful supernatural entity who has fallen victim to the wickedness of human beings. She is translating Dil Nawaz’s emotions beautifully. Zainab Qayyum has also done justice to Alam Ara’s role showing her wickedness and self-obsession.

The preview shows that Rasheeda will ask Kiran to come to Fawad and Kiran will find that mysterious Baba Jee. Let us see what happens next!

Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash

In the era of social media, the more easy it is to make things viral, the more difficult it is to be politically, socially and morally correct all the time. Pakistan’s famous shoe store chain Bata came under hot waters a couple of days back by putting up this poster giving a very wrong message; womaniser and comfortable with it

Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash

It was understandably not received well and the social media came alive with people bashing this idea left, right and centre:

Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash

To their credit, Bata has taken down the poster and issued a sincere apology;

Bata Takes Down Poster After Social Media Backlash

Now that was one thoughtful move. Regardless of how nobody from the marketing at Bata realised what it will mean to promote a man as a womaniser and comfortable with it, they promptly took notice of public opinion and acted accordingly. This is certainly considerate of them and has helped in damage control.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 19 Review – Captivating Performances

This episode of Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua had some important developments to its credit. Although the pace of this drama is slow but like many other dramas written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar the screenplay and the characterizations keep your interest alive. The fact that the director Shahid Shafat has executed this script brilliantly right from the get-go gives it an edge. Every episode unveils something new about the characters and at the same time leaves some kind of a mystery. Unlike many other dramas nowadays which entice the viewers with a few fast-paced episodes in the opening weeks and have absolutely nothing to offer after 13 weeks or so, this drama has constantly been on track and there have been hardly any filler episodes. With every episode the story moves forward, there has been continuous character development and for the most part it has been unpredictable as well.

All the characters in the play have definite personality traits and some of them share an emotional bond which has been appealing right from the first episode. Faris and Siraj Uncle’s relationship right now is holding my interest more than any other. However, Tipu is the most intriguing character in the play right now. Faris’ love for Zoya and Zoya’s feelings for Faris though are difficult to connect to at this point but I am glad that Faris has finally moved on and he admitted that he loves Zoya. One of the reasons for this is that Noor Khan’s portrayal of Zoya has been quite average therefore one can’t help but wonder why a man like Faris would fall for someone like Zoya and not someone like Darya or even Lubna. Zoya has to be the least appealing of all the leading ladies in this drama so far therefore I am waiting to find out why Faris fell for her. It is however quite clear now that he is never going back to Maya which basically goes to show that Maya made yet another impulsive decision which she will regret later on. Ayeza Khan and Sami Khan have been faultless throughout; their portrayals have been picture perfect and their performances award-worthy.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 19 Review - Captivating Performances

I have to say that right now Siraj Uncle and Tipu are the stars of the show. Since the last two weeks or so especially, these two actors have nailed their roles completely and their characters are getting more interesting with every passing episode. Imran Ashraf’s body language, expressions and dialogue delivery was brilliant throughout today although his scenes were quite demanding. One of Tipu’s dialogues tonight suggested that he was referring to Maya as the snake and he was helping Zoya climb the ladder by trapping the “snake”. All of these conversations were filled with different emotions and they were deep and meaningful. Zoya’s reactions and dialogues were interesting but Noor Khan’s acting wasn’t up to the mark. Rehan Sheikh is one of my favorite actors and it is a treat watching him play this role. I hope that we will find out more about Siraj Uncle’s background and his relationship with Saif at some point too.

Saif and Maya’s scenes together made me hate Saif’s character even more. Zahid Ahmed’s acting in this episode however was much better than the previous few episodes. Lubna’s conversation with Maya was one of the best conversations in this episode not only because of the way she told Maya off but also because she openly told her that she was never going to fall in love with Faris. Also, this scene was directed brilliantly because Faris’ reaction was also shown.

I am glad Maya’s father will finally make an appearance in the next episode because so much has happened and the viewers have not been shown how he feels about everything. The preview of the next episode was really enticing, it promised some new surprises and I am waiting to see what these surprises would be.

Aangan Episode 2 Review – A Complete Package!

Oh my goodness, I can’t even begin to explain how amazing this episode was & how hard I laughed while watching it. Even though the overall vibe of the drama is humorous but what’s commendable is that in the middle of all this the writer has imparted some very beautiful messages which warm your heart. Watching Aangan is like getting a 3D view of a family where everyone has a love-hate relationship, where everyone comes together for one another but then everyone has an issue with each other because they all are different & this entire mix makes this drama a complete package.

The opening scene of this episode once again underlined what the family is all about. Abba Jee was the one who didn’t want his son in law Allauddin to show up at his doorstep, but the moment he heard about his accident, he couldn’t stop blaming himself because he knew that by the end of the day, his daughter will be the one who will suffer & that thought was quite daunting for him. It is absolutely amazing how all the intricacies of all these relationships have been portrayed where no matter how many differences one has, courtesy & compassion keeps them all connected with each other!

So, now that finally Allauddin & his wife made it to Anila’s place, they made sure to do everything that would make them feel valued. Both Anila & Allauddin are a formidable team & they make sure to exploit everyone’s courtesy to the max because it makes them think they have an upperhand. Anila & Allauddin are a representation of those relatives who no matter what, find a reason to nag & complain because they are so engrossed in the idea of their perfect life that they deem it as their duty to rub it on other’s faces. Anila made sure that everyone gave her husband the utmost attention so that he doesn’t complain but then again, Aalu is nothing without complaining!

I loved how Hajra handled everything & how every single time she emerged as a peacemaker. What I love the most about her character is that she is brutally honest while still being courteous, like she knows everyone’s weaknesses & doesn’t mind talking about them but at the end, she uses them to rectify & pacify things as much as she can & that is the beauty of her character. Well, Sajjad followed Hajra’s lead & decided to visit Kulsoom’s place but then again, he was wary of what might happen if Anila will find out the truth!

Rubina came back & even she couldn’t stop complaining that she was forced to return because Anila was visiting. Every single family member has an issue with Anila but then what Hajra told Rubina about Anila made so much sense that being the daughter, Anila had the leverage to run things for a while but because the daughters in law had nowhere else to go, they shouldn’t let anything influence their behavior & cloud their judgment. It was absolutely sweet how Rubina immediately understood what Hajra was trying to convey to her. Well, generally it happens that the daughters of the family find it hard to accept that the house which once belonged to them is not theirs anymore, so they make sure to do everything to let everyone know that they still have an upperhand, can influence whatever happens in the house & are still the decision makers!

Anila had an issue with how Zoya took care of the household chores but then Zaitoon’s advice overruled whatever Anila said as even Zaitoon knew that this was going to be one such place where Zoya will always be welcomed after her marriage. The advice to be good to daughters in law was spot on because it showed that Zaitoon not only valued them but also had enough heart to place them at a certain level of authority, which was refreshing to see that too in such a typical household set up!

The most beautiful scene of this episode was the conversation between Miyan Sahab & Zaitoon Bano where they both reminisced about old times & spoke about how they were now standing at the same pedestal. Miyan Sahab spoke the truth & tried to make Zaitoon Bano understand that their children had their own lives. It was endearing how Zaitoon presented her own perspective but Miyan Sahab tried to show her the bigger picture!

Even though Zahid is shown to be quite stern & staunch but his naivety is endearing. He actually thought that Allauddin passed away & thought about every single formality that they’d have to go through. I liked how it was shown that in the middle of this chaos, Asim & Laila stole some time for themselves. Even though they were equally involved in family affairs, they still made sure to get some breather & disconnect with the family drama. As they both have no kids, they make sure to give each other all the importance in the world & that has further strengthened their relationship!

So, the family drama continued & once again Laila & Rubina faced each other. It is a done deal that they both are two different people who can never come to a common ground & I feel for all those who’ll have to do the damage control that too with Anila around them!

What I loved the most about this episode was that I could relate to so many things & since it is so diverse, I am sure every single viewer will be able to connect & relate to different characters & their scenarios as well. Since this drama is a pure depiction of reality, it makes it even more amazing! All the actors did a wonderful job & there is not even a single character that I find unnecessary in this huge family. This episode was hilarious & I love Faiza Iftikhar’s sense of humor. The entire scene where Mr. & Mrs. Aalu were being Ham-King & Queen had me in a laughing fit. This drama offers so much, so many flavors, so many emotions which makes it perfect. Irsa Ghazal & Waseem Abbas were the stars of this episode, equally & perfectly supported by ZQ. Loved every bit of it & can’t wait for the next episode already. I know what I will be doing on Saturdays, laughing & getting emotional while watching Aangan. Please share your thoughts about this amazing episode of Aangan!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.
