Noor Bukhari Will Only Appear On Screen In Religious Shows

Noor has made quite a name for herself in the Pakistani media. From film to ramp walking to drama acting to Tv show hosting, Noor has done it all, but there comes a point in everyone’s life which challenges your core values and essence as a human being. This time is probably that for Noor, since she has spoken about not wanting to associate with the media in any form except for the promotion and understanding of Islam. She was speaking to Express News about her desire to use the rest of her life only for religious education.

Noor wants her fans and followers and all those who admired her to now follow in her footsteps in the new journey as well.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 13 Review – Complicated Yet Intriguing

When it comes to penning down love stories which are so much more than just that, no one can beat Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. Like every other drama penned down by him TDKKH too is unpredictable and in many ways bold as well. The relationships between all the characters are anything but simple and these complications keep on getting even more confusing with every passing episode. Faris’ character in particular is highly intriguing; it is impossible to guess how he actually feels about all the women in his life right now. His proposal to Zoya was completely unexpected and it seemed like nothing more than another desperate attempt to get back at Maya but Zoya’s reaction had to be the most interesting part of this entire scenario. The most interesting bit was that Zoya just learned why Maya never loved her the way a sister should be loved, that definitely changed a lot of things. The stories about sibling rivalry explained a lot and might also have given Zoya a reason to do something to hurt Maya. Also, their background also explained Maya’s reaction in the previous episode when she saw Faris with Zoya. The only part that was difficult to relate to was that Zoya did not remember any of this. If she was old enough to tell her father that she did well in the exam then she should have had some recollection of those memories unless like her mother said, she decided to store those memories away in her mind.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 13 Review - Complicated Yet Intriguing

Lubna’s track is also being given a lot of screen time in these episodes which goes to show that she has a bigger role to play in the picture. Saif was more amused than angry when he got the parcel from Lubna which basically showed that she was another woman in his life for whom he didn’t really care much. Siraj Uncle continued to play cupid and failed at it over and over again yet he didn’t give up! Gradually, Dariya is showing how she actually feels about this entire situation. In tonight’s episode, she clearly stated why getting married to Faris was never an option. The fact that Dariya is convinced that Maya isn’t really out of Faris’ life suggests that Faris still loves her. He is angry and hurt but he might eventually forgive Maya. Dariya is the only person who understands Faris therefore if she is sure that Maya can come back into his life any time then that might just happen!

My favorite scene from tonight’s episode was the last one; the meeting between Faris and Maya was an absolute delight to watch. Faris told Maya how everything had changed after she left but he wasn’t looking for sympathy when he told her that, it was more like making someone aware of their wrongdoings and the repercussions. He also tried to take control of the situation yet again by telling her that they will only meet when it would suit him and that could even mean that they will never meet again. This aspect of Faris’ personality is so relatable; I love the way he is constantly trying to show that he is in control of things when clearly he isn’t! Sami Khan never ceases to impress as Faris, Ayeza Khan continues to translate Maya’s character impeccably on screen and most importantly the director Shahid Shafat has made sure that these beautifully etched-out characters do not get lost in translation. The background score of the drama is also beyond impressive.

The preview of the next episode definitely piqued my interest. I am looking forward to finding out if Faris can really tell Maya that he is getting married to Dariya!

Khamoshi Episode 2 Review- Exploitation At Its Peak!

0

The pace with which this drama is progressing is commendable. Two episodes down and the story has progressed at a constant speed bringing on the original theme of the play. The director has really done a good job of not wasting any more time on showing the rift between Atif and Sabir or the financial miseries he introduced at the very start. Two new characters were introduced in this episode and they are the people Arsala was shown working for in the promos. He is Arsala’s distant uncle who was in a desperate need of house help since no one in Karachi can tolerate his wife’s tantrums.

Khamoshi Episode 2 Review- Exploitation At Its Peak!

Tauqeer Nasir translated the greediness of Sabir perfectly on screen today. The way his eyes light up by having just a glance at 30 thousand rupees showed his mentality. Sabir knows his daughter is not there just to help her bechari chachi but is hired as a maid. His sudden exhaustion with factory’s work and the way whole family starts having halwa puri showed how people in our society exploit the ones who do not complain. Naima is a true evil and the way her mother always refers to her as an inexperienced bacchi is annoying. Shehnaz cares for Arsala but this episode showed how weak and unfair she really is.  While one of her daughters is far away, working day and night to put food on their tables; the other one is planning to buy clothes from that money and Shehnaz could not even make her help with household chores. Arsala’s brother is the only character who loves her but he has no say in anything since he is a child.

Amber Khan is playing the beemar chachi Haseena. Her acting was a bit over the top. It looks like she was trying too hard to bring out that evil factor in her voice, though her styling and overall persona showed perfectly well how difficult a woman she is. Atif knows his engagement is broken but to be honest he is not really trying to get Arsala back. He has adopted the easy way of being hungry and laying in bed. His mother is also not making any efforts and seems like a person who doesn’t really care whether his son gets married to her niece or not.

Zara Noor Abbas translated the theme of the show brilliantly on screen. Her Khamoshi towards all the exploitation really portrays what happens to such people in our society who do not fight back and trust too much. She loves her family and trusts her sister who is visibly selfish. Khamoshi shows how the society likes to crush people who care too much and exploit them for their own gains. Iqra Aziz is playing the evil character better than her normal bechari ones. The preview of next episode shows how Arsala’s father will cut her off from the whole family and will make her their personal ATM. Let’s see what happens next and how will they introduce Bilal Khan in the whole scene.

Sharmeen Obaid Bags Yet Another Emmy

More power to Sharmeen Obaid and to everyone who is voicing the ones silenced by fear. Kudos to you ma’am.

Punjab Government Bans Na Maloom Afraad 2

After 5 weeks of running successfully in cinemas Punjab Government issued a notification this Friday banning Na Maloom Afraad 2 from further screening.

Censor board cited “persistent complaints from different quarters” as the reason behind the ban. Though a legit reason hasn’t been given by the government for the ban yet the ban continues to keep Na Maloom Afraad from reaching the big screen.

Punjab Government Bans Na Maloom Afraad 2

This isn’t the first time Na Maloom Afraad 2 has fallen under scrutiny, it was barred in UAE citing that it “allegedly misrepresented Arabs”.

This Javed Sheikh, Fahad Mustafa and Mohsin Abbas Haider starrer comedy film revolves around the misadventures of the above trio as they embark on a get-rich-quick scheme in Cape Town… involving an Arab sheikh and his gold toilet.

“This is a really strange move by the Punjab Censor Board. We had already received clearance by the censor board and the film released in September with no issues,” Nabeel Qureshi, director of the film, stated in an interview. “Were they just not watching the film at that time?”

Qureshi further said “To clear a film for screening and then ban it a month later sets a really bad precedent. It’s just ridiculous. Also, the censor board issued the notification on a weekend so I couldn’t even go to court to challenge [the ban] immediately,” he went on to add that he will take the matters to court and bring Na Maloom Afraad 2 back to the big screen.

Looks like a beginning of another controversy that will take many turns.

Rangreza’s Official Poster Has Us Gushing Over It

Our anticipation for Rangreza began with it’s teaser trailer release back in June in which Bilal Ashraf looked exceedingly hot followed by Urwa Hocane looking aesthetically divine and Gohar Rasheed portraying madness and all this with Abida Parveen’s soulful voice in the back ground, wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we were in love.

And to remind us of our anticipation of this film here’s the steamingly hot and deviously charming official poster for the movie.

Rangreza's Official Poster Has Us Gushing Over It

Gushed yet?

This Bilal Ashraf, Urwa Hocane and Gohar Rasheed starrer musical romance is set to reach new heights for a Pakistani film and is said to premier in various international locations.

After Jaanan’s huge success it is only natural for us to have high expectations from Rangreza and there’s a good chance we won’t be disappointed, the movie is set to release this December and we are ready to be blown away with cinematic mastery.

Wanna add something to the story, feel free to do so in the comments section.

O Rangreza Episode 11 Review – Phenomenal Performances!

Ohkay so, another week another brilliant episode of O Rangreza. Despite being heavy, this drama just draws your attention in because the performances of all the actors are so phenomenal that they don’t allow you to have your attention diverted. The way the emotions have been portrayed in this drama is commendable, every character has a unique personality & they have stayed true to their nature till this stage of the drama. I am interested to see how things will progress now that the story went through such a major twist.

No one can understand Sassi the way Qasim does, that is why ever since the news of their marriage broke, Sassi was not herself as she put Qasim in the same spotlight as well & thought that now he will be ruling over her. Sassi’s plea to Wajih to save her went to show that she was done with what life was handing out to her & she wanted to live her life, her way. Sassi really is tying to get under Wajih’s skin without even realizing that he has his own baggage, his own perspective which she is unable to comprehend. So, Sassi returned broken-hearted but Qasim knew what he had to do. Qasim’s refusal to get married to Sassi was basically his attempt of setting her free because he knew that Sassi wasn’t someone who wanted to be caged & unfortunately he wasn’t left with any other choice than to showcase the love he had for Sassi this way.

Sassi finally got to know how much Qasim loved her & the best part was that she actually understood his reasons too, she could see the intensity of his selfless love where he wanted to make her happy. It would’ve been so much for Qasim to refuse to get married to the girl of his dreams that too after seeing her as his bride, Qasim really proved the length he can go to in order to please Sassi because he didn’t even care what Khayyam will do to him. Like Sassi said, even she couldn’t understand how Qasim, the kind-hearted Qasim got so much of strength to do something like this, but Qasim let her know that it was his love for her!

So, Khayyam Sani was so depressed at what happened that without even thinking for a second, he decided to shift to Sonia’s house? This is the same Khayyam Sani who was worried about ‘log kya kahainge’ when it came to all the matters concerning Sassi but when it came to him, he wasn’t concerned but yes, he did try to use ‘log kya kahainge’ card in front of Sonia Jahan but she didn’t budge. Even though all this while I never really paid attention to what Sonia Jahan wanted but for the first time I got a feeling that may be she was also testing Khayyam Sani to see how far he could go, may be she doesn’t want to get married to him but indirectly wants to teach him that he should own what belongs to him & that is Mumtaz & Sassi, that too the way they are, in stead of chasing after an obsession that he has with an image that Sonia Jahan carries. Just because Khayyam loves Sonia, he is ready to accept her but he hasn’t put so many restrictions on her yet, but Sonia knows what will happen if she will allow Khayyam to encage her.

Sassi’s letter to Qasim was another beautiful aspect of this story. She confessed that she never loved Qasim, she never could because he never ever hurt her ego. After this letter of Sassi I saw a similarity in her & Sonia. Sonia came to Khayyam but since she has seen that he is totally into her & he is ready to forsake his marriage for her, she has kind of lost interest & she is not too keen on getting married to Khayyam. Usually this is something that is said about men, that if a woman hurts their ego, they turn it into a challenge to have her love him but the writer here showed that a girl or a woman can feel that way too. Sassi never saw Qasim as a man she could love, she never saw her as his ideal because he was always there for her but since Wajih Kamal has hurt her ego & hasn’t welcomed her the way she wanted to, she has now started to think that she loves him & wants to be with him because for her it has turned into a challenge to make Wajih Kamal fall for her – twisted but true!

Oh well, I can’t take Mumtaz anymore. After all that happened, she actually blamed Sassi for ruining her marital life, as if there was some substance in the relation that she & Khayyam shared in the first place? Mumtaz should learn to blame Khayyam for his mistakes but even before that, she should learn to see his mistakes. Mumtaz should learn that her man can be at fault too, he can commit mistakes as well, because the day she will do that, she will be at peace as she will save herself the hassle of defending Khayyam & walking an extra mile for a man like him who doesn’t even care!

This episode of O Rangreza was brilliant. Bilal Abbas Khan stole the show with his phenomenal performance in this episode in particular. He really has made every shade of Qasim shine & he definitely deserves an award for portraying this character to perfection. Sajal Ali looked like a doll in both the functions, she has breathed life into a difficult character like Sassi & it shows what her caliber as an actor is. Bilal Abbas Khan, Noman Ejaz & Sajal Ali make this drama worth watching. Please share your thoughts about this episode of O Rangreza.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 27 Review – The Secret Is Out!

“Ab aap bahir aa jao papa. Aap ke sur ka sara bojh utur gaya hei. Meinay apne armano ka khoon baich ke adayegi ki hei papa…..aap moj manaye, ji bhur ke gunnah kijiye, kafara dene aur qarz chukane ka waqt aye ga tu bachay chukaye gay na.” These dialogues resonated with me more than any other in this particular episode because they reflected Maheen’s frame of mind and it is true that very often the children have to pay for their parents’ mistakes. In this case however the child in question did not pay for her father’s wrongdoings because it was fate but because someone decided to take revenge. Jia’s confession and the manner in which Waqar broke the news to everyone else was definitely done really well since everyone listened to what she said first hand. The way she confessed however was rather odd because she wasn’t apologetic for her actions. For the most part also, the director failed to do justice to the script in tonight’s episode. All the scenes were written in such a manner that they added something new to the story but most of the scenes were stretched a little too much. Two more fast-paced episodes which gave the drama a decent ending would have been better than adding three episodes which will have scenes that are a strain on the nerves.

The fact that Waqar wasn’t forgiven instantly by everyone even after finding out that Jia was responsible for creating this huge misunderstanding has to be the best part of the recent developments. Most dramas would end at this point and Waqar would have been forgiven; it is good to see that everyone is not willing to give him the benefit of doubt since what he did was disastrous. Maheen’s attitude towards Waqar however has been the most surprising development. I find it impossible to believe that she has forgiven Waqar. The sudden change in Maheen does suggest however that she has either found closure or she is planning something. Right now, it is impossible to tell what is going to happen next. The credit for this also goes to Ayeza Khan who isn’t giving anything away and is letting the viewers wonder what is going on in Maheen’s mind.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 27 Review - The Secret Is Out!

Ami begum’s dialogues in tonight’s episode were funny. There was a time when I found her extreme reactions annoying but now I find them hilarious! Her love-hate relationship with Waqar has grown on me. Apparently everyone knew about Aurangzeb’s history with Tehmina already therefore this particular revelation did not come as a surprise to anyone. The only shocking part was that Jia was Tehmina’s daughter.

The flawed make-up, the ever-present loud music, direction which very often tests your patience and faulty camerawork are those weaknesses of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei which can easily put any viewers off. The story however is very well put together and at this point the story is at such a stage that these flaws in the drama won’t stop the viewers from tuning into it for the next two weeks as well. Having said that, this drama could have been a huge success had it been given the right treatment. Two more episode to go and we will finally see an ending to MTSNH which would hopefully be worth the wait. The story was going forward at a steady pace for the past few weeks but this episode was slow paced. The disclaimer in tonight’s episode was also a big distraction since it was right in the middle of the screen.

The Beautiful New Song Of “Verna” Is Out

Verna has piqued interest in public in the wake of its teaser release. The teaser was very gloomy and dark and focused on  the aggression and revenge surrounding the events in the film.

The newly released title track “Sambhal Sambhal Kay” by Shoaib Mansoor’s Verna is all about love and roses. A lovely picnic in the woods between a loving couple while a photographer clicks them away is beautiful to watch and listen.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 13 & 14 Review – Needs To Pick Up The Pace!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Yaar e Bewafa were slow but interesting. I think they really should pick up the pace because due to limited characters & repetitive scenes, it has become one such drama that I watch while fast forwarding & while doing that, I know that I am not missing much. It still is a very decent watch but I guess this drama can be a good choice for binge watching because to tune to it every week for a slow episode is not that nice!

So, Amna was faced with one difficulty after another & even though she didn’t mean to, she ended up giving a lot of reasons for Zaid to complain. She left his mother because she had to take care of her injured kid, it was sad to see Amna struggling so hard & Zaid not even giving her a chance to explain.

To be honest, even though I sympathize with Amna & I understand her character but I think I need more because till date, ever since the drama has begun all we know about her is that she puts up with the mistreatment of Saleem & there’s nothing more to her character. Zaid tried to talk to Saleem because he understood that Humera was comfortable with Amna but Saleem in stead of understanding Zaid’s problems, ended up making things even tougher for Amna. I don’t really understand why is Saleem so insecure? Has Amna not done enough? Is she not putting up with everything that he throws at her? Hasn’t she been able to prove her loyalty to him? It is sad to see her struggling so hard to make the ends meet only so that her husband can be well-rested but he can not see that, rather he puts even more restrictions on her!

Zaid’s involvement in Amna’s life created even more problems for her. Zaid tried to compensate her for all that she did for his mother but Amna decided not to accept anything because she wanted to draw a line & let Zaid know how much she respects her husband (deliberately not using the word love here). Anyways, Zaid’s mother made some progress & he knew that she needs Amna even more now because she needed that extra attention & care to recover perfectly & that is why he chose to meet Saleem but like a lunatic, he assaulted him.

To be honest, when Amna received the call after Zaid & Saleem’s fight, I really thought that she would get the good/bad news that he is no more but I was majorly disappointed when he survived. I really want this character out of the picture because he has survived for too long despite being absolutely useless.

It was interesting how Zaid was reminded of Fizza when he saw Amna taking a stand for Saleem & being by his side through thick & thin. This is the first trait of Amna that Zaid has noticed & it did leave enough impact for him to not only compare her with Fizza but discuss it with his friend too. Till this point, all we know about Amna is that she is loyal to a fault, but I need something more. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Yaar e Bewafa.

Teri Raza Episode 14 Review – Ridiculous!

Ohkay so, seriously the writer of this drama deserves 21 topon ki salami for not only coming up with a character like Suhana but for also justifying her wrongdoings. There is absolutely nothing about this main character that is likable because in stead of ‘understanding’ her perspective, all I can see is that she is one thankless twisted psycho who doesn’t bat an eyelid when she lies with every single breath that she takes!

Suhana keeps on telling Rameez that she can not leave Imtiyaz & that she accepted him because of Istikhara but what she is doing is totally opposite to what she should’ve done when she chose to get married to Imtiyaz. Suhana has officially started two timing because the way she was lying & grabbing every opportunity to see Rameez proved it. Suhana chose not to stay at her parent’s place because she knew that she will be faced with a lot of restrictions there & she won’t be able to see Rameez so easily.

In this episode, there were so many dialogues that were cringe-worthy. Suhana thinks that she & Rameez survived the accident because of their true ishq , I mean that was so bizarre. It is absolutely sickening that the writer is justifying a character like Suhana by showing that ‘love’ is everything & a woman under someone’s Nikkah can conveniently deceive her spouse. Suhana’s character is beyond comprehension, like this is her pattern – she meets Rameez despite telling him that this is going to be their last meeting, she is not into Imtiyaz, she tells Rameez she can not leave Imtiyaz but whenever she is with her people like her mother or Manzura, she doesn’t leave any stone unturned to tell them how much she loves Rameez? What is she even trying to achieve? Since she is not even respecting the sacred relationship that she has with Imtiyaz then there’s absolutely no point in continuing it!?!

Suhana loves Rameez but when the drama began & she got married to Imtiyaz, I thought she will then compare the two & will come to a conclusion that she was better off with a gentleman like Imtiyaz but boy, this girl is twisted because she is doing everything to ruin her marriage for a loser guy like Rameez but then she makes sure to let Rameez know that she is not into him anymore? I think Suhana should learn a basic thing like ‘actions speak louder than words’, she doesn’t have to receive his phone calls, she doesn’t have to see him, she thinks sporting a poker face & shamelessly listening to Rameez’s confessions during every meeting is going to give him the impression that she is happy with Imtiyaz? Seriously! Usually we use the term loser for male characters because they take loser-ness to another level but Suhana seamlessly makes it to that list too, yes she is a big time loser!

When Talat asked Suhana about Rameez, I was shocked at how seamlessly she lied that she went to talk him into getting married to Jeena where in all of their conversations, Suhana never took her name because even she doesn’t want this marriage to take place! I thought we will see some drama when Imtiyaz told Zafar that Suhana was with Rameez, because he called his wife but that scene ended right there, so if that was what was going to happen then what was the need of that scene in the first place because all I know is that Suhana is a spoiled brat that can’t be tamed!

The best bit of this episode were the backdrops that were used to suggest that Imtiyaz was travelling, at least there was something that made sense despite the sloppy & extremely bad cut paste job. I loved how Dubai’s busiest airport had no banda & banday ki zaat because Imtiyaz was travelling, lol! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Teri Raza.

Baaghi Episode 11 Review – Fauzia, The Victim!!

Fauzia’s dialogue about everyone she has met so far pretty much summed up Fauzia’s journey. Right from the beginning she has been surrounded by people who are constantly trying to use her in some way or the other. First her brother forced that marriage on her to please his wife then her father let her down, her husband betrayed her, the person she went to work for wanted to use her as well, the shelter she took refuge in was the same and now she has no one to turn to! Now it seems that Fauzia will do whatever it takes to earn money because she wants to fight a legal battle to take her son back. Since this story is based on Qandeel Baloch’s real life story therefore one cannot help but notice the fact that the writer has done everything to prove that whatever she did was a direct result of the situations people put her in and not because she left her home looking for a “career” like the one she adopted. I was hoping that the writer would take a more nuanced approach but clearly every single scenario has been created to make the viewers feel for Fauzia and to justify her actions.

Had Fauzia’s marriage worked out and if Abid was willing to support her, things would have been completely different for her, therefore, right now whatever Fauzia is going through is more of Abid’s fault than her own. She was always honest with Abid and right from the first day she told him that she wanted a career in showbiz. Also, the fact that she only decided to walk away after Abid admitted to being unfaithful to her and was abusive also justifies Fauzia’s actions. Her parents did not support her hence she has no one to turn to now and had no choice but to go back. So far Fauzia’s character has absolutely no weaknesses, except that she is gullible, naive and impulsive. She has human flaws but no negative traits but everyone else around her is either vile or is an opportunist. It is definitely a case of Fauzia against the world  kind of a situation which is a little hard to digest and makes this look like a one-sided story! I can’t help but compare this drama to Mein Sitara over and over again because this too is a story of a girl coming from a rural background who wants to make it big in showbiz. Sitara however made mistakes, there were times when she was emotionally vulnerable and she wasn’t picture perfect, which was definitely easier to relate to.

Baaghi Episode 11 Review - Fauzia, The Victim!!

Tonight’s episode showed how Fauzia decided to return to her husband who did not take very long to get married again. Meeting Ruby and hearing from her that Abid had given their child away came as a rude shock and proved to be the final nail in the coffin. This particular scene was directed and acted out brilliantly. Fauzia stood there wondering if she could go back to her house but the flashback scenes suggested that it was not an option. Saba Qamar’s faultless performance continues to be the best aspect of this play. Unfortunately, the characterizations however leave a lot to be desired. The element of surprise is also missing from the drama. Ali Kazmi is also impressive as Abid; a man who thinks he can do whatever he wishes and has shocking double standards. Although we see men like him in our dramas all the time but this is the first time that he is playing such  a role.

The past few episodes were definitely better than this one. I am slightly disappointed with the writer’s approach in this particular episode. Right now, the story seems more predictable than ever. Fauzia’s elder brother’s disappearance is also sticking out like a sore thumb!

If you were planning on stalking Ushna Shah any time soon now would be a good time to reconsider it. Yesterday while being stalked by a random car for fifteen minutes Ushna Shah decided not to let this one pass and took a stand for herself. Komal Aziz Becomes A Victim Of Feudalism!

Feudalism is one of the most dangerous vices existing in our society. Every day people become victim to this and nobody takes a stand to stop it. Komal Aziz is the recent victim of this tragedy. She shifted into her apartment last year with her parents and sister. Her father died during that period and now she has been facing mistreatment from the landlord who has beaten her sister and uncle. He has also taken a lot of money from her and is still demanding more funds. Nobody helped her as people are afraid of the feudal lord. She talked to Samaa news about this whole tragedy. This is what she said:

https://www.facebook.com/samaatvnews/videos/10213877162507822/

Tragic to see where our society is heading, where no one helps the helpless and just keep tolerating injustice because “yahan to kuch nahin badal sakta.” We hope Komal and her family get justice for all the injustice happened to them.

Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai Episodes 27&28 Review – Reckless Decisions

So these two episodes finally took Amber to the place where she had been thrown out decades ago, and her revengeful feelings had not let her rest since. Finally, she is at Sadiq and Anila’s household, after much chaos and upheaval created by her reckless decision of court marriage with Ahsan.

These episodes had a few bloopers and missed points which made it feel kind of dragging and kind of too much happening in a short space of time. Firstly, if Iqra had not been so discreet and clearly sent away Amber telling her that their mamoo and mami is there, might have ended in a better result than her symbolic and quiet warnings which were too late in any case. As usual, Shehzad and Fariha brought their orthodox thinking and old school fuss to the situation which did nothing to improve anything and at the end, the angry husband wife marched out of the house as usual.

Naheed’s reaction to Amber’s marriage was very natural. She is heartbroken since Amber was the apple of her eye. Her one daughter whom she loved more dearly than all others. Saima Noor was spot on in showing the feelings of a torn mother, who is desperately hurt by her daughter’s thoughtlessness, yet being a mother , her feelings are not in her control and cannot stop herself from remembering the youngest of her children.

Iqra’s reaction is very sane and sensible. She is trying her hardest pull her mother out of the abyss that Amber has thrown them into. Anum on the other hand is a whole different story. Even though this episode was about Amber’s selfishness, what stood out the most was Anum’s meanness. She is oblivious to her mother’s plight, rather she is going on and on about not marrying Dr Jawad like an broken record. Her behaviour and total oblivion to the pain of her mother and sisters make her look like Sadiq’s daughter far more than Amber does. I was totally annoyed at Anum today.

In Ahsan’s house, Anila’s reaction was all we could hope for. But Sadiq was disappointing today in the whole scenerio. His water truly is thicker than blood. He is totally indifferent and cold to Amber as if she is someone else’s daughter. I mean, I know he has disowned Naheed and his girls but I was still expecting something; a longing, a remorse or merely a tiny little soft corner.

Anila and Amber’s have come face to face and Anila has guessed her evil intentions very well since it takes one to know one. It is going to be a very interesting match but Anila is already putting herself on the wrong foot by going and complaining to Naheed. She knows she has no effect on Amber so she is going for a low blow by fighting with her mother.

Lets see what Anila has to say to Naheed and whether she will be able to hold her own infront of Amber. And also stay tuned to find out if Anum manages to control her feeling for Dr Jawad or they two eventually elope…

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 25 Review – Simply Perfect!

Ohkay so, as clichéd as it may sound but I hated chemistry as a subject but this chemistry is something else & surprise surprise I love it, well I am sure everyone else does too. It is such a relief that after weeks of being stagnant & slow, Yakeen Ka Safar has picked up the momentum & even though there are a few happenings in every other episode, the way they are conveyed compensate for all those slow episodes. It is commendable how the writer has maintained a balance between professional & personal lives of the characters & it shows how being in such a profession, it affects them on a personal level too. Yakeen Ka Safar has all of a sudden become a treat to watch & it is amazing!

So, Faryal came back with an ulterior motive, even though it was good that she learnt how to apologize, she realized her mistakes, she learnt how to say sorry but it is heart-wrenching that in all these years, one thing she couldn’t learn was acting. Seriously, all the scenes of the girl playing the role of Faryal despite being serious were amusing to me because I couldn’t divert my mind off how bad bad bad her acting was, whether she was crying, or pleading or looking at Asfand with some hope in her eyes, this girl really shouldn’t try her hands on acting & should give the characters offered to her in the future to someone else because I am sure they would do a better job than her or simply put, they’d be able to act at least!

I loved loved loved each & every scene of Asfand & Zubiya & I loved that there was so much focus on them & their feelings throughout this episode. Just because Zubiya lost her patient, Asfand knew that it was taking a toll on her & obviously he wouldn’t have shown support to someone else but because it was Zubiya he went out of the way to make her feel at ease because he could see that she was suffering. Asfand has obviously fallen for Zubiya & despite seeing how she keeps herself distant, Asfand continues to throw hints every now & then to let her know that he is thinking about her, that he is seriously considering her as his life partner.

Zubiya not only understands what Asfand says, she also feels the same way about him but just because she has had a bad experience in the past, she now walks on the eggshells, that is the reason why she reminded herself of her mother’s advice & immediately grew cold towards Asfand. I love how Zubiya never responds to Asfand with straight forward answers, like she always says something which he never expects. Throughout this episode I loved how short & sweet the dialogues were but still the characters were running high on emotions & the chemistry was oozing out of the TV screen.

Since Asfand finally got a chance to tell Faryal that he has changed & he has moved on & since he got rid of the burden that may be he was carrying in his heart, he got a clear vision & a chance to take some steps towards Zubiya. All those glances, all those smiles, every single expression that Asfand had while looking at Zubiya was beyond perfect & what I loved was how even Zubiya was taking note of everything but continued to ignore him as she was still unsure!

The entire birthday celebration scenario was nicely done, it was good to see Usman’s family having a good time & most importantly with people who were their well-wishers. The way Zubiya looked at Gaiti & Haroon was so sweet, like in her mind she already pictures them as a family & now she will try to make that happen because she knows that both of them can complete each other. I never really thought that Zubiya would actually admit that she was getting jealous of Faryal, like she was disturbed that she came back & it was her subtle way of telling Asfand what she actually feels. The entire scene where Asfand got to tell her that he gets envious of Dr. Haroon was amusing yet cute, like Zubiya immediately told Asfand what she had on her mind in stead of getting uncomfortable or staying silent, I like that Zubiya believes in transparency & honesty, that is why despite being reserved, she never lets anyone have any misconceptions or misunderstandings about her!

So, Asfand finally confessed, he told Zubiya that he believes she will be a perfect ‘partner’ for him & even though it came as a surprise for Zubiya, I loved how she contained herself, like I said, this is the best thing about Zubiya that she always reacts & responds in ways that Asfand least expects but what makes their relationship even perfect is that Asfand knows that Zubiya is like that & he accepts her the way she is. I love how Dr. Shehroz is trying to play the cupid & how he encourages Asfand. It was so good seeing the glimpse of old Asfand back who used to laugh, who used to be happy, who knew how to live life & this is definitely something that Zubiya has done, the love that he has for her has done!

This episode of Yakeen Ka Safar was simply perfecttt. After a long time I am enjoying the type of romance that is being shown on-screen, the way two people respect each other, understand each other & make it clear that they are going to be there for each other is simply beautiful. Sajal Ali & Ahad Raza Mir have elevated the level of this drama & even though I felt it was missing the spark, the moment they both came together, they took to another level. I must say Hira looked absolutely beautiful in this episode & so did Sajal Ali. Ahad Raza Mir looked handsome & charming & yes, that can be said about Dr. Shehroz or Shamil Khan as well. Definitely looking forward to the next episode because now looks like Daniyal’s track will get a closure because of Urooj’s re-entry. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar, yes, I am not talking about Kharjista because after such a happy & perfect episode, I ain’t got no time to discuss a roni shakal! ;)

Alif Allah Aur Insaan Episode 24 Review – Fully Flawed!

Ohkay so, the start of this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan was sloppy but towards the end it got better however throughout this episode I felt that there were so many scenes which were added on a producer’s whim because they just didn’t make any sense & even the direction & editing of those scenes were flawed. I think it is about time that this drama should end but it is so obvious that the producers have something else on their mind, which obviously is ruining the drama which started on such a promising note.

Reena’s outburst, Shahzeb’s conversation with Basit, Shaheer’s concern for Zimal, Zimal’s conversation with her father, Arsalan’s suggestion to Shaheer that he should call Zimal, New Dulhan New Jora scene of Nazneen & even Shammo’s showing up on the spot when Reena was about to kill herself were a few scenes that weren’t directed & acted well & it clearly showed that they were added as fillers because nor did they strike a chord, neither they had that impact which may be the producers were looking for.

I just couldn’t gather what happened overnight for Reena to kill herself? She obviously knew that Nawazish was married & he was going to give time to his family so her outburst seemed out of the blue & not only that, she ended up calling Shammo. Anyways, Nawazish came back & he knows how to play with Reena’s feelings. This was something that even though predictable was what I found interesting, since Reena loves Nawazish she is going to allow him to fool her because she will continue to believe that he loves her. For Nawazish, Reena is his ticket to success & that is why just in the beginning stages of their marriage Nawazish has started deceiving her!

To be honest, I found Shahzeb’s conversation with Basit the biggest flaw of this entire drama, like they made it so obvious that just a few days ago Shahzeb didn’t know who Basit was & now all of a sudden he was talking to him using Nazneen’s reference & not only that, he was sharing such a personal detail of Nazneen’s life with Basit? It just didn’t make sense. I am getting tired of Nazneen’s tantrums because ever since they have gotten married, their track has been all about that, in the beginning it seemed justified but now it is being overstretched. I noticed that in two of Nazneen’s scenes they used the same dialogue in the background where she spoke about losing Basit if he leaves, talk about not having enough content!

Zimal’s conversation with her father was so boring & they could’ve added this conversation in the previous episode because that was when she got her divorce papers so not sure why her father had to wait for the next episode to tell her that she needs to forget Ali & not sure why her mother took an entire week to get bed ridden. Arsalan’s concerns for Zimal & even Shaheer’s robotic dialogues were such a yawn provoker that I kept on checking how many minutes of this episode were left.

I really think it’s about time this drama should end because due to the addition of new characters, the old characters have been heavily compromised upon & it looks like they are passing their time because they are stuck & also because the producers told them to. All the old characters have lost their flare & the new ones are absolutely boring. I never really imagined that this drama which kept us hooked for so many weeks will go haywire – for the first time I am at a loss of words for this drama. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan.

Actors Who Become The Character

0

Aristotle said that the secret to moving the passions in others is to be moved oneself, that is the basic idea behind method acting. Method acting is described as a form of acting where the actor mystically ‘becomes’ the character or tries to somehow literally live the character in life it demands the actors to use their imagination, senses and emotions to conceive of characters with unique and original behavior, creating performances grounded in the human truth of the moment. it mobilizes actor’s conscious thought and will in order to activate other, less-controllable psychological processes—such as emotional experience and subconscious behavior—sympathetically and indirectly. The actor searches for inner motives to justify action and the definition of what the character seeks to achieve at any given moment.

The end result is that the actor ceases to exist and becomes the character he’s playing that is acting at it’s best, listed below are the top ten method actors of Pakistani entertainment industry who if asked us to believe that they were “BATMAN” we might.

10: Gohar Rasheed

Actors Who Become The Character

Theater, Drama or Film, Gohar has done it all. The highlight of his career was being nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the movie Seedlings at 2012 New York Film Festival. Since then be it his “Sir, I from village” kinda role in Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi or a gambler/abusive husband from Mann Mayal we have seen him grow and we’ve cherished every moment of it. Here’s to looking at you Gohar, make us proud.

9: Zahid Ahmed

Actors Who Become The Character

Be it the theater or our home screens Zahid is a force to be reckoned with, with that voice quality and nonchalance I can vouch for him to be the next 007, his commitment to his roles is so strong that “The name’s Bond, James Bond” can seem like a believable statement. The man already has performances like Alvida, Zara Yaad Kar, Jugnoo and Besharam to his credits and there’s certainly much more to come. Anxiously waiting to see him work his magic in Daldal.

8: Mohsin Abbas Haider

Actors Who Become The Character

This tall dark and handsome punjabi munda is a complete package, from his soulful voice to eccentric raps and his acting skills he is a delight. We have not seen enough of him yet but what we have seen is enough to put him on our “Sarpharaz dhoka nahi dia” list. We can count on him to not disappoint us in the future either.

7: Hamza Ali Abbasi

Actors Who Become The Character

Not Ali but “Controversy” is his middle name which takes a toll on him ergo we do not get to see enough of him on screen. My first Hamza drama serial was Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley and I HATED him which is what he set to achieve since his role was a despicable one. Like Johnny Depp, Hamza is guilty of making dumb choices like Mann Mayal and Jawani Phr Nahi Ani I sincerely hope to see some Pyare Afzal level performance from him soon.

6: Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui

Actors Who Become The Character

Like Hamza Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley was my first Sheheryar drama serial too. Despite the fact that Sheheryar’s character was deaf and mute his performance spoke volumes and the message was loud and clear “I am the next big thing”. After that supportive roles like Osama from Zindgi Gulzaar Hai to Ho Mann Jahan he has stayed true to his message and by the looks of it will continue to do so.

5: Aijaz Aslam

Actors Who Become The Character

Our love for Aijaz is as old as it gets, from Mehndi to Main Aur Tum and even his Chaudary Nazakat Gee CNG days he has stayed true to his chocolaty hero persona but amidst all that we got to see TV series like Yaariyan, Daam, Parchaiyan, Baandi and Dil Ishq off and on to prove that Aijaz can not only do it but ace it.

4: Ahsan Khan

Actors Who Become The Character

Ahsan recently made everyone lose their chill with his breathtakingly gorgeous display of a rather ugly character like Paa Imtiaz, before that we’ve seen him in a list of shows longer than Ahsan himself, among those I particularly liked him in Paani Jaisa Pyaar and Dastaan, Though he is commendable in all his performances.

3: Fahad Mustafa

Actors Who Become The Character

The man single-handedly handled a show like Main Abdul Qadir Hoon that alone is enough to keep him in this list yet that’s not the end of it, he has shows like Mera Saeen, Kankar, Maaye Ni, Sandal and Pul Sirrat to his credits and I simply can not wait to see him in Mah-e Meer.

2: Faisal Qureshi

Actors Who Become The Character

Faisal Qureshi has some Bollywood Khans level reputation in our industry which is only fair given how long he has been here. I can still hear him say “Boota from Toba Tek Singh” and I remember him pulling off that lungi look though I was only 6 at the time. From his eccentric humor in Mein Aur Tum to his roles in Qaid e Tanhai the man has lived his entire life on screen and I certainly wish to see him back on the big screen soon.

1: Nouman ijaz

Actors Who Become The Character

Hands down ain’t no way anyone else can be the King of this list while this man lives, He is the fearsome Malik Wajaahat from Mera Saeen and he is the Dar Jee from Sang e Mar Mar. Bari Apa, Rehaai, Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi, Khan, Lahasil, Jackson Heights are just constant reminders why this man tops this list. His graceful transition from lead roles to playing lead role’s father makes me respect him even more.

This will be all for now, if you believe someone belongs or doesn’t belong in this list do let us know in the comments section.

Mujhe Jeenay Du Episode 4 Review – On Point!

This latest episode of Mujhe Jeenay Du was heart-wrenching. The manner in which Saira was forced and blackmailed into giving her consent for the nikkah was particularly disturbing especially because her father was the one who pressurized her the most. Naseeb’s reaction to Saira’s refusal clearly showed that although he was going along with the nikkah but this wasn’t what he really wanted; he looked relieved and not angry unlike all the other men there. The most ironic part of this entire scenario was that men who were directly related to Saira were being more heartless than the man who didn’t have blood ties with her. The fact that Naseeb did not do anything tangible to stop this nikkah from happening and “readily accepted” Saira as his wife once the nikkah took place showed that at the end of the day, he too was part of the same system in which violating human rights was a norm. Although child marriage is a clear violation of basic human rights but even then it is truly upsetting that children are put through this torture on regular basis in many parts of the world.

Saira is the perfect protagonist for telling this story; her character and her story has been written brilliantly and translated on screen impeccably. She is an intelligent little girl who could have achieved so much in life had her guardians not made this decision on her behalf. Saira will be assigned the duty of looking after her husband and more importantly his child at an age in which most children cannot even look after themselves which is why she is bound to make mistakes and get into trouble. Although Naseeb seems like a kind man and is much better than the other men in this drama but the preview of the next episode showed that he is just as capable of turning into a monster as anyone else if something happens to Tipu. Saira’s love for Tipu and the way this love was exploited to get her to marry Naseeb had to be the most upsetting aspect of tonight’s episode.

It was great watching the maulvi sahab giving so much importance to Saira’s consent yet again in this episode. We have watched a lot of dramas in which maulvis go ahead with the nikkah even when they can clearly see that the girl is being forced into giving consent. After Sammi, this is the second drama in which the writer is repeatedly stressing upon the importance of a girl’s consent – a positive message which needs to be reinforced over and over again.

Mujhe Jeenay Du Episode 4 Review - On Point!

In this episode the viewers got to see a glimpse of Yasmin’s personal life. Although Yasmin is educated and is an independent woman and she has earned so much respect by helping the people in the village but she does not get an ounce of respect or acknowledgment by her own husband. Yasmin would never allow her man to beat her up like Shaheen does but she definitely does not have the support of her husband. On the contrary, her husband’s views about her are similar to that of men like Murad. Saira and Shaboo’s scenes have to be my favorite part of every episode since Saira is her real self and is carefree only when she is with Shaboo.

This was another impactful and well executed episode of Mujhe Jeenay Du which had some exceptional performances to its credit. It is turning out to be one of those few dramas in which all the actors give exceptional performances. The overall feel of the play and screenplay is faultless. The writer and the director’s focused approach makes this drama even more poignant.

Atiqa Odho Will Appear In Court On 5th October

Famous Pakistani actress Atiqa Odho was allegedly caught by Airport Police in Islamabad while carrying two bottles of liquor with her to Karachi. Alcohol is banned on plane so a case was registered against her and the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry issued a sue moto action for the case.

Her lawyers have been fighting against the sue moto action and a three judges bench sat on 26th September to listen to Atiqa Odho’s lawyer Syed Ali Zafar. So, Atiqa is now set to appear in the court for her case, almost seven years since the first allegation.

She shared the news and hope for relief from the case in a heartfelt Facebook post with her fans;

Ghairat Episode 13 & 14 Review – Back On Track!

These two episodes of Ghairat were far better than the last two because the story finally moved forward and most importantly Zohaib’s involvement in the story made it more interesting. Unlike the previous two episode the situations were convincing and the scenes were not stretched. Usman once again managed to have his own way but it won’t be too long before he pays a big price for all the torture he put all these women through. Saba’s frame of mind was also translated on screen in a convincing manner; she missed her mother, she felt guilty and clueless but there were also times when she tried to think of ways out of this situation. Getting in touch with Zohaib seems to be the only way out for her. Even though her friend’s mother is supporting her but she realizes that she cannot continue living like this. She also feels that she needs to do something to help her mother get out of that house too. Iqra Aziz is pretty likeable in this role, mainly because of the fact that she doesn’t ever overdo the becharapan. The character has been written in such a manner too that even when all the odds are against her, Saba always manages to turn to God and have hope if nothing else. Watching her play the victim alone in the past few episodes however wasn’t pleasant at all.

The story took an interesting turn when Farah decided that it was better to lie to Zohaib in order to save his life instead of telling him the truth. Farah’s decision changed everything because now even when Zohaib finds out where Saba is, he won’t be sure what to do since he is convinced that Farah is lying and he will only get his sister back if he brings Saba back to Usman. This development in the story was unexpected and interesting. I think there should also have been some scenes in every episode in which Saba’s mother thought about her just as much as she thinks about her. I feel that her character has not been used to the maximum. This character should have been given a little more screen time and there should have been a few more dimensions to it.

Ghairat Episode 13 & 14 Review - Back On Track!

Zohaib’s friend’s concern for him and the way he has always been there for him has to be one of the most positive and refreshing aspects of this drama. It definitely gives the viewers a much needed break from all the negativity in Usman’s house and shows that there are people who are willing to go out of their way to help others without having ulterior motives.

Syed Jibran yet again gave an exceptional performance. His portrayal is always effortless and the amount of effort he puts into giving all his characters looks which go really well with their personalities is absolutely remarkable. Each one of the character he has played till date had a look completely different from the other. He owns Usman’s character completely which is why you can’t help but hate his character and wait for him to pay back for everything he has done so far. Watching Saman Ansari being part of so many plays which are completely different from each other is absolutely delightful, her versatility is much appreciated. Shagufta character is vile and it is completely different from the character Saman Ansari played in drama serial Sammi yet she is equally convincing in this role.

These two episodes of Ghairat gave me a reason to tune into this play next week too. The preview of the next episode suggested that Usman and Shagufta will have a child of their own very soon and I am guessing that this child will somehow be more of a trial than a blessing. I would love to see Usman confessing for his crimes at some point and getting punished for them.

The looks, the acting skills and now singing Mikaal keeps on surprising us again and again, Zulfiqar gene sure has a strong game. I won’t be surprised tho if the next coke studio features Mikaal, might as well bring someone who actually can sing.

The festival went as well as it gets but Adeel’s insta has been a delight this weekend. From sky to sky scrappers he is able to see beauty in everything, it just goes to show he is an artist not just by profession but at heart as well.

Choosing the right frame is everything in film and film making by the looks of it Adeel Hussain is a natural. I see not only an actor but a potential future director in him, here’s to hoping we’ll see an Adeel Hussain directed movie one of these days.

Watch Sanam Jung’s Protectiveness For Her Daughter

Sanam Jung discusses a lot about her home life , especially since her little girl Alaya Jaffri is born. She keeps on talking to her audience about her experience as a mother.

Last week, on her show Sanam explicitly told about her anger and discomfort when someone gets closer to Alaya or picks her up or kisses her without Sanam’s permission. She does not like other people’s germs and lipstick on Alaya if they hold or kiss her. She went on to share her experience when a sales girl wanted to hug Alaya and Sanam refused her request, to which she thought that Sanam was being arrogant on having a child.
