This comes as the same story with a different cover. Sara Loren who was previously admired as Mona Lisa in Pakistani drama industry is now enjoying the best days of her acting career in Bollywood. The actress, after her first major movie ‘Murder 3’ in India with a new name,  is all set to appear on big screen with her next movie Barkhaa.

The movie comes under the production of Zahara productions and is said to be a love story which revolves around two characters. Sara will be sharing screens with ‘Luv Ka The End’ and ‘Gippi’ fame actor Taaha Shah.

She revealed about the project at the launch of the movie in the following words:

Though neither the production nor the star-cast seems impressive enough to place a good impression at Bollywood Box Office, it will still be interesting to find what this Pakistani actress has to show as her talent in the neighboring country this time.

lsa_winners_24

Out of so many interviews that I have come across lately, this one is, for sure, the best of all.

 Have a look!

From theater to acting on the small screen, how has the journey been so far?

sania-saeed-pclayer

When I started working for theater it was the early 90s and it was an Indian script called ‘Aurat’ that we reproduced for the Pakistani theater for the 8th of March. That was the beginning of my career as an entertainer. Then I did some theater on and off, but went back my studies. Later I joined NTM as an announcer; in fact I was the first announcer who opened the NTM transmission from Karachi. Then Sahira Kazmi offered me ‘Aahat’ for which I had to leave the job. But the job was not that important for me in any case, so I quit the job at NTM and went for ‘Aahat’.

How was the experience of working with a legend like Sahira Kazmi?

While working with her in ‘Aahat’ I realized that television as a medium has a lot of potential and I really enjoyed working with Sahira especially. There was a lot of interaction, she never treated me like a new actor or a child, and she would not let go of a mistake I made, and corrected me all the time. But in the end it was a learning experience for me. Years later she came to me full of appreciation and said that this is why I never gave you space, because I knew you could do it better.

If acting didn’t work out, what would have been an alternative career for Sania Saeed?

I have been trained to be a psychologist and if I had not ventured into dramas and acting, that would have been my field of choice. The subject interests me and human psychology has so much to it. That is my approach towards my characters as well, to analyze and perform a role by first assessing the psychology of a character. I might have been a teacher or a Vet, as a child I always wanted to be a vet.

Did your family accept it at once that you have chosen media as a career?

I never had much opposition in whatever I wanted to do. I come from a family where they believe in doing whatever you believe in doing, as long as you can stand by it. I take it as a job as a learning experience where I am still learning. I don’t take what comes as a result of my work too seriously, people’s opinions, especially when you are at college it becomes a lot to take when people come and appreciate you or criticize for the work. I am just not cut out to be a ‘Star’ and I can’t lose my personality to adapt the kind of persona that is requisite to be a star.

You have been working for a long time now, what changes have you seen in the industry?

This whole nostalgia business that our work used to be very good has more flash back value than real. We go flash back; Tanhaiaan was very good, flash back; Dhoop Kinarey or Aahat were very good. A lot of plays at that time too were very not very good and not very popular. If I ask you to name 10 plays from the 80s and 90s that were very good, you will not be able to do that. So we have just fallen into the habit of saying that the plays used to be much better in the past. There were many plays where the audience did not like the content, cast or acting and it is still the same. There are good and bad plays in every time. We have to accept this and learn to appreciate when people produce quality work because they are putting in a lot of effort and hard work.

The drama industry has expanded in recent years; do you think the standard has deteriorated due to that?

Sania_Saeed_picjpg_17_kmbkm_Pak101(dot)com

I think this is all in our head, we are living in flashbacks. Every time we see a drama we go in flashback, Tanhaiyaan was so much better, or Dhoop Kinarey or Aahat for that matter. It is our fault that we have stopped looking at the new productions with an open mind; instead we revisit our past only thinking of a few good plays. If I ask you right now to name a dozen PTV productions from the 80s and early 90s that you can remember, you will not be able to do that. There have been both good and bad productions at every point in time, stop living in déjà vu and start finding the good in what is being done today. This might help the people who put in a lot of effort and energy into their work.

Which projects did you enjoy working on the most in recent times?

From my recent ventures Aao Kahani Buntey Hein has been my favorite project. Kanwal Khoosat had directed it and it is written by Afzal, a new writer, who developed the stories. It is very theatrical and creatively done. The story is of a writer and his wife who develop a story each night. They are the narrators and the actors as well.

What are your considerations when choosing a project?

I am a storyteller; the first thing I look at is what am I saying and what is the story conveying to my audience. I do not want to do a role that I don’t want to stand by or they go home empty. It’s basically the story, what is the story saying, what impact will it have, what impact my character would have, not a big fan of big jargon and slogans. I like subliminal messages, I like portraying people in different light, I don’t like stereotyping which is what television drama have become. Sometimes even I get stuck with it, because it is your profession and you have to do something, but most times I have been able to avoid it.

There are other people playing an important role in the production, how do you negotiate it with them as how you want to play the role?

I am notorious for debating my character and projects, even though I like most of the people and like to work with everybody. But the kind of process that I want my work to have, not everybody works with that, that’s why I have ended up working with very few directors. In my whole career, which is more than a decade, I have only worked with seven or eight directors.

These days’ people choose to work on so many projects that if you switch channels you won’t know if that is the same play, why have you not done that, does money not as important for you?

Actress-Sania-Saeed-Profile-Beautiful-Pictures

This is a decision that you make as an artist and as a professional. What is it that you want to achieve from what you are doing? I have a skill, that I have made my career, I want people to remember me for the characters that I have performed, even if they forget my name, they should remember the plays that I have done and the characters that I have given to them. If I am doing similar plays all the time, then it will be a little difficult to achieve that. I will give my luck a lot of credit that people have come to me with substantial project, with which, by a lot of hard work, I have been able to get my characters recognized. So people remember my characters and the stories that I was telling.

Can you name some of the most memorable plays that you have done?

All the projects that I have done have been so different from each other in experience and have different memories; great memories that I would like to keep. I have learnt a lot from every project, every writer, director and cast that I have worked with. It’s a totally different energy and a totally different experience, so I would not be able to say which one was the most memorable.

How would you like to be remembered?

As an artist who worked hard, gave a lot of hard work, performed some good characters and was good at what she did and told good stories.

You have performed such diverse characters, from a vengeful step mother to a hardworking and caring daughter. What kind of characters do you find the most challenging?

I have to work very hard on my characters, hard in the sense that I want them to be different, I want them to be convincing, and I don’t think it’s a job you can take lightly. There is a lot that can assist the actors in their roles elsewhere, but in Pakistan, it mostly depends on the actor. They depend on the actor a bit too much; you have to establish the whole thing with only your performance. Make it convincing, create a persona, and come up with the get ups and all. So every character becomes invariably challenging for you. Like there was this play Lamha Lamha Zindagi, when I read the script I thought what is it about, what is the story saying? For me it was an inane script, with no impact. My character was crying throughout the serial. But my husband (Shahid Shafaat) was doing it, so he sat me down and asked me how I wanted to portray that character. So without changing anything with the script we managed to turn that character into a very controlled, strong and focused woman. Whose silence speaks for it, she is not cowing under the pressure but her silence became her strength. A lot of women I met later said that the character was all too good and they had told their daughters that a woman should have at least this much pride and grace in her. The character was not a proud in any bad way, but she had confidence in herself and she believed in what she was saying. So the point is that you have to create challenges for yourself and come up to them.

What factors contribute to a play’s success and facilitate you as an actor?

The success of a project depends on the entire team. Sometimes the directors is not that receptive to your ideas and does not let you perform a role in the manner you would prefer to do it. I think the understanding between an actor and other team members is key to a project’s success. The experience differs from project to project and script to script, but it is team work that eventually makes a script into a masterpiece.

What do you think is the biggest issue that we are faced with in our television productions?

The biggest problem at the moment is with scripts, and the stories television is telling people. The stories are bad, they have a negative impact, they are stereotyping men and women, and they are dictating a certain moral code which I don’t think is their business. They are telling the story in a manner that does not leave any questions in your mind, but only reinforces what you have already been told. These stories are not allowing you any thinking space; they are not challenging your already very strongly built belief system, which I think is the need of the day.

Why is it that such stories are being written, do you think the writers suffer a narrow vision?

Most of the plays are written by women and these women I think have a narrow vision. I do not call it good or bad in any manner, it is just their own life experiences which make them build such stories. They probably have spent their lives within the boundaries of this belief system, so they are writing whatever they can see and come up with in this narrow sphere. Television being a huge medium, in terms of its potential and its outreach could have been used to propagate thought provoking stories, which is where we lack. Channels have formed this notion about certain type of stories that this is what sells, this might not be wrong but we are not utilizing the mass medium to its full potential.

What kind of criticism do you face as a seasoned actress?

download (1)

I wish we did get criticism. I have been asking all the journalists I meet why they have stopped writing on television? Why there is no feedback for television? Criticism is an art and it is something that you cultivate, that you develop with time. You have to have an understanding to be in the rightful place to criticize. It’s not anyone’s business to do so. I want people to come up with productive criticism, it bothers me that they are either not thinking at all or if they are thinking, they are not able to verbalize it. People who call them critics write with a very superfluous vision, which does not contribute to the productions in any manner.

Do you think the emphasis on perfecting a role is forsaken, in favor of quantity rather than quality? Who do you think can correct this?

That is true; quality is often compromised for quantity. It is us who can correct this behavior, we have to put our foot down and make them read a script of rehearse. When I am doing a role, I ask the other actors with me that I need rehearsal even if they don’t, none of the actors or directors have refused to rehearse with me. It has to be you who have to stand up to achieve perfection. You are responsible for the kind of developments that are taking place in your profession. Sometimes I may not need to practice a scene but the other actor does, so it’s my professional duty to make them rehearse the scene, so we can perform it convincingly. It about working together and synergy it is not an individualistic art.

Is there a chance that you will take up a movie project in Pakistan?

If they produce a film in Pakistan I will surely act, if offered a substantial role in it.

As a person how would you define yourself?

I think no one can define themselves, you should ask others, the people we interact with, they might be better able to tell you about me.

You started off your career with plays like Aahat and Sitara aur Mehrunisa, do you think starting off your career from such a high level set you apart from others on a higher standard?

I would never think that way, either it is a very big project or a small one, if I take it up, I will consider it as a challenge and take it forward that way. Why create limits for yourself, when there is a lot more work to be done.

Why do you think the standard of drama has been compromised? Is it due to extensive commercialization?

The industry is still new, give it some time. It will sift out the bad itself, you have to give it space. And of course productive criticism will also help in sorting things out. You write about something you do not like, once, twice, the third time it appears in print people will give a serious thought to evaluating their stories for that specific element. Don’t blame any individuals or the industry at large, think and come up with ways to reform it.

Hope you all enjoyed reading about her. Please share your views,

Shukk – Episode 15

0

This latest episode of Shukk was slightly less happening than the previous few. I wasn’t expecting Ali to divorce Sania so soon but I also did not want Sania to go back to Ali, he does not deserve a woman like her. His inflated male ego did not allow him to give Sania another chance. Sania hardly reacted when Ali handed the divorce papers to her. At that time I thought she must be in shock and after a little while when she realizes what had happened then she will think about how her life with Ali had been, how everything they shared once was destroyed, did she have anything to lose in the first place? And a million other things that any woman would think about in such a situation. Ali is blinded at the moment so I do not expect him to think about all that just now. Unfortunately, all of Ali’s relationships are largely governed by his ego which gets hurt a little too easily. He expects to be loved unconditionally by others but does not know the first thing about giving love.

shukk1 shukk2

Sehrish’s mother’s interference did not change any thing. Ehtesham has made up his mind and nothing that anyone says or does is going to change how he feels. Following Sania and trying to help her however is only going to create more problems for her so I can only wonder how will he be able to make up for what Sehrish did.

Roomi was a very important part of this episode as well just like all the previous ones. He looks up to Ehtesham but despises his father. Ali hasn’t done much to make his son love him which is very unfortunate because mostly kids his age consider their fathers their heroes. The conversations between Sania and Roomi were very impressive and relatable as usual because of the outstanding performances by both Sanam Saeed and the child star playing Roomi…I cannot praise that kid enough, he leaves me speechless every time I see him on screen.

shukk3

It was good to see Ijaz being supportive of Sania against his wife’s wishes. I like the way this particular track is being taken forward in a very convincing manner. I wonder if Sania’s mother will have a role to play in the future episodes because she will eventually find out what has happened.

shukk4

Ehtesham’s encounter with Maham’s husband (yes the man does not have a personality or identity of his own;) was just what the doctor ordered. Ehtesham knows only too well who is responsible for ruining his relationship with his wife but sadly Sehrish has not been able to understand the games that Maham had been playing with her.

There wasn’t enough of Sehrish in this episode, I would have liked to see more of her. In the given situation it is very unlikely that Sehrish will have a change of heart; her husband told her that he feels nothing for her now and will do anything to help Sania. All the characters in the play are justified in feeling the way they do at the moment and all the actors are doing a splendid job.

Please share your views about this latest episode and also share with us what you think is going to happen next!

Family Interview of Sultana Sidiqi

Sultana Sidiqi is one of leading ladies of Pakistan. She has been the first female owner of any media house in our country. Being a PTV producer, she used all her experience to raise a new media house HUM TV, which revived Pakistani drama and gradually phased out the viewership of Indian Dramas. While other media houses were happy to go with the popular trend by airing Indian content or producing Indian styled dramas, it was HUM TV which took the initiative of sticking to our own style and revived the tradition of Pakistani drama. This faith and hard work paid back, and eventually other channels are now also following the same trend.

Babra Sharif – receiving offers of films

Seasoned film artist Babra Sharif is approached by many filmmakers, who want to cast her in their upcoming films. As per one report Humayun Saeed, Shoaib Mansoor, Bilal Lashari and others have offered different roles to Babra. But Babra has not given a green signal to any filmmaker.

As per report Babra is of the point of view that she has seen a very vibrant era in her film career and always been part of mainstream cinema. Her admirers have always praised her in main and strong roles, so seeing her in other roles will be a disappointment for them.

Babra announced retirement from films in early 1990’s. After that she have always declined any film offer. She has only appeared in a song in film Gaharana directed by Sangeeta in 2001. However Babra has appeared in two television dramas after retiring from films. She seldom appears in commercials and social gatherings (fashion shows).

Pakistan Idol Week 08 – Piano Round 03!

0

Finally another one of those interesting episodes filled with some amazing performances. I must say this lot performed great too & had been the most versatile one when it came to the song selection, but the very first group remains my favorite till date.

I must say that I was really disappointed by some of the remarks that the judges made. One thing they need to understand is that these are just the contestants, out of which so many have never had any professional training in singing, so if they choose songs of a certain renowned singer, they shouldn’t judge the contestant based on how the actual song was sung by the professional singer. They shouldn’t compare a novice contestant who is still in a process of learning to the singer who has already made a mark in this field. Even though I was disappointed by the song choices some of the contestants made but they tried to do what they could so the judges should’ve judged them on the basis of their vocals & not on how the professional singers performed the songs.

The commentary on the contestants who performed today is as follows:

Ali Asad Zaidi (AZ) from Karachi performed the song ‘Meinnu Tere Naal’ of Najam Shiraz. He was flawless & probably he was the best one in this whole lot. He got 3 wows from Ali Azmat & he was all praises for this young boy, even Bushra Ansari enjoyed his singing but Hadiqa Kiyani wasn’t impressed at all, she wasn’t even seen applauding for him whereas the other two judges raved about how he sang the song. He was amazing & he chose the song wisely which he knew he could convey perfectly.

Umer Aftab (UA) from Lahore sang ‘Khamaaj’ of Shafqat Amanat Ali. I think he was flawless in his singing & sang such a difficult song with ease but all the three judges didn’t approve of his choice because they compared his singing to Shafqat Amanat Ali’s. I think he justified the song & sang it really well but it looked like the judges were trying to influence the audience against him whereas he was better than couple of other contestants.

Fayeza Rashid (FR) from Lahore sang Reshma’s song ‘Haye O Rabba’. She wasn’t impressive even though the song suited her tone but she couldn’t sing it well at all. She came up with a lot of explanations that almost sounded like an excuse but what hit me the most was that the judges didn’t even pinpoint a single mistake of hers & instead Hadiqa covered for her by saying she looked nervous & stuff. I think if that’s the case then all the contestants should get a leeway based on the nervousness they experience. She wasn’t good but judges were worst when it came to judging her because they didn’t point the obvious & rather hoped she gets the votes because she performed well in the PAST.

Asad Raza Soni (RS) from Lahore sang ‘Aye Khuda Jab Bana’ from the Indian movie ‘1920 Evil Returns’. His performance was once again a good one in fact he was great. All the judges were impressed & no doubt he was impressive, he chose a song that fitted his tone well plus the power with which he projected his voice was amazing too. I think this was the very first performance of the day which Hadiqa liked otherwise she wasn’t too impressed by the previous 3 performances.

Shahmir Aziz Quidwai (SQ) from Islamabad sang Ali Azmat’s ‘Garaj Baras’. What & why did he do this to himself? I think the biggest mistakes the contestants of Pakistan Idol have made so far is that they have picked the songs they LIKE, not the songs that they can PERFORM. This is exactly what happened with Shahmir. His voice is not at all suitable for rock songs because he sounded too soft for it even though he used enough force for the projection but his voice tone wasn’t complimenting the essence of the song. This is exactly what the judges said & rightly so. Not at all an impressive performance.

Seemab Arshad (SR) from Gujrat sang Shafqat Amanat Ali’s ‘Ye Hosla’ which was for a Hindi movie ‘Dor’. I must say he was very wise in a song selection becauseit suited the quality of his tone. All the judges were impressed but I agree with Bushra Ansari that it looked like he sang it in a hurry whereas the pace of the song is a bit slow as compared to the pace he picked. But nevertheless, he was impressive.

Ghazal Ali (GA) from Karachi chose the song ‘Namak Ishq Ka’ of the Indian movie ‘Omkara’. She once again was wise in a song selection because it matched her tone but I am not sure if it was a suitable choice especially to be heard & liked by the Pakistani audience because this is exactly what happened with Mehwish Maqsood, she may have chosen a song to show her range & versatility but it wasn’t liked by the people. Even though the judges liked Ghazal’s performance but we still have to see if she gets votes or not. I think she has declined ever since the auditions because I was actually rooting for her but right now I am not sure because others have performed way better than her.

Zamad Baig (ZB) from Mandi Bahauddin sang Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Kali Kali Zulfon’. I must commend him for again choosing a song which suited his tone & he justified it completely. The judges liked his performance too & no one had any mistake to pinpoint. No doubt his voice quality was unique & just because of the song he chose, it became self-explanatory.

So, this was it from tonight’s episode. I must say once again so many amazing performances & only 3 get to go through based on the votings. Looking at the results from the last week, I really am not sure what will happen & who will the judges give their vote to, so let’s wait but I do wish that Umer Aftab gets qualified because his singing was definitely great & he didn’t get the remarks he deserved. Other than him, Ali Asad Zaidi, Asad Raza Sonu, Seemab Arshad & Zamad Baig were great too, so the choice must be made from these 5 only, girls weren’t impressive so I hope they don’t get the chance just to fill the quota of girls in the Gala round like Mehwish Maqsood & Sana Zulfikar.

My favorite obviously from this lot has to be Ali Asad Zaidi & Umer Aftab. Who did you like, share you opinion. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 7

0

Nabeel truly is turning out to be a knight in the shining armor who knows exactly how to get the love of his life. He also does not give a second thought to what his family thinks about his decision. Tonight for the first time Nabeel’s family members showed their displeasure openly. I found it very amusing when Nabeel decided to “buy” Khala’s approval because he knew that his parents were not going to push the matter further. He did not try to convince Hamnah or Rabiya either to go shopping with Romaissa, instead he decided to do the honors himself! Nabeel’s character is turning out to be quite interesting, I like his go-getter attitude. Mikaal Zulfiqar was terrific tonight, not just in the comic scenes but also in the serious ones. The way Nabeel kept on looking at Romaissa during the engagement ceremony was simply adorable. Sanam Jung and Mikaal Zulfiqar look great together; they definitely compliment each other.

m5
The opening scene was marvelous, I thoroughly enjoyed the way Nabeel won Khala over. Nabeel seems to have a thing for homemade desi food, last time around it was Romaissa’s karele ka salan and this time it was Khala’s left over paratha! Watching Khala and her daughters drool over the thought of all that Nabeel had to offer was fun in the beginning but later on when they were fighting over things which Nabeel’s parents brought for Romaissa it appeared to be repetitive. The way Aalia lashed out at Nabeel was totally uncalled for, on one hand she expects Nabeel to help Bilal financially and on the other she was shouting at him because he did not choose her!

m7
All the women in Nabeel’s life (except Romaissa of course) are very disappointed with Nabeel’s decision. Romaissa has someone in her life now who values her for a change. All her life she has been made to believe that she is nothing more than a bad omen for people around her. Things have completely turned around for Romaissa now but she finds it hard to believe that all this is really happening. I am really looking forward to the time when Romaissa will learn to be happy. I was hoping that we would see some sign of happiness on Romaissa’s face tonight but she was too worried about Sajjid to think about anything else!

m3
The phone conversation between Romaissa and Nabeel had to be the best part of this episode. Romaissa finally shared how she felt about the way Nabeel bought her khala’s approval and Nabeel confessed she was priceless. This particular scene was beautifully directed and acted out. It left me wanting to see more of these two but unfortunately that was not the case.

m2

Overall, this latest episode was enjoyable but it could have been far better if we got to see more of Romaissa and Nabeel rather than Khala and family. I thoroughly enjoyed most of Khala’s family’s scenes but there were a few that could easily have been replaced with a conversation or two between Nabeel and Romaissa. I am really looking forward to seeing how Nabeel manages to protect Romaissa from his thankless and selfish family members. We will finally see Romaissa smiling in the next episode!

Do share your thoughts about this latest installment.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 19!

0

I am not sure what went wrong with the writer while writing the script of this drama. I can not believe that the drama which started off at such a great note would come to such a level where it is not only annoying but also beyond understanding. I am definitely questioning the purpose of this drama because is it nothing but hideous.

I didn’t know being intelligent is injurious to health & this is what has happened to Eeshal. Can’t imagine that the girl who had such a strong character would be swayed by some gestures of an irritating & scary person like Sunny. In the middle of the not-making-any-sense conversations, Eeshal herself claimed to have forgotten how cheap Sunny was, so why couldn’t she remind herself that beforehand? Once again the emphasis was on Eeshal being intelligent & Eva being a dumbwit, but is it really necessary? What has Eeshal done till now to prove herself as an intellectual? Eva is Eva so no explanations needed.

Sorry to be sounding amusing but today Eeshal reminded me of Prerna from Star Plus’s Kasauti Zindagi Ki, where she was nothing but a shuttlecock between Mr. Bajaj & Anurag. Similarly, Eeshal has followed the footsteps of Prerna & allowed herself to be tossed between Shahveer, Dad, Arez & now Sunny. Ridiculous is a small word for the level where this script has gone to.

Poor Eeshal has to only face things as a compensation for her Dad being a complete evil. Looks like Sunny’s peanut-like ego got hurt because of how Dad treated him so he planned on taking a revenge. Ohkay, I think when a girl gets free from the pregnancy, the last thing she has on her mind is to get married again right after having a baby but seems like Eeshal’s intelligence worked wonders & helped her getting trapped with Sunny ASAP. Being intelligent is good but by looking at the case of Eeshal, I wish no girl ever gets that label & all the girls stay as dumb as Eva if they can save themselves from taking such hideous decisions. Even when Rehbar to whom Eeshal seems to be clinging lately for her problems, told her to stay with them & then think twice before making a choice, Eeshal ended up choosing Sunny over everyone. Phew!

I think that when a girl is expecting she does not get divorced but here not only the concept was crushed but a solution was given in a very easy manner that even if you do get divorced, right after having a baby find the most closest cousin or friend irrespective of seeing what sort of a person he is, just get married straight away & then deal with him later by calling your jeeja or your father if you’re on good terms with either of them. What a nice story I must say!!!

Rubaru – Episode 04!

0

It was a very very slow episode without much to offer. I think the cast is great & they are doing their work just fine but the director has yet to impress us with his direction. I don’t know why but seems like the directors these days can’t actually handle those stories which have the element of suspense. I don’t have much complaints but I still wish we would’ve gotten to know a little bit more in this episode at least.

While they were at a picnic, Surmed tried to speak to Shabbi & he, as a matter of fact knows how he is treating her, but I really can’t understand why does he put up an act in front of her family. He actually talks to them, accepts their invitations to the dinners & outings, he is always in a right mental state in front of everyone but when he is with Shabbi, he loses it completely. I don’t think he has some sort of a psychological issue but yes he is emotionally very disturbed because of his past & that thing takes a toll on him.

There weren’t much revelations about who Surmed is as a person but yes, we got to know that he had a girlfriend named Neha, back in Turkey & they both actually loved each other. Madiha Imam (Laiba of Ishq Mein Tere) appeared as a guest & she looked absolutely gorgeous. I am amazed that Shabbi didn’t even bother asking Surmed about who she was in fact till now Shabbi has never ever questioned him for his behavior & she is more interested in finding out things about his family instead. She seems totally disconnected & looks like she is not even bothered by how he treats her. A little say from her would’ve sufficed by now. Surmed did tell Shabbi that he left Neha because of her & just to make her suffer he got married to Shabbi but still that doesn’t elaborate anything, I think we all have to wait for the right time. But yes Shabbi’s probing should’ve been confined towards Surmed & his behavior because that would’ve looked more appropriate.

I am glad Surmed’s Khalu, Arif uncle got in contact with his wife & told her things he thought she needed to know. According to him Surmed is really sensitive but is a very conditionally articulated person. He deals with people just as he wishes to but he wants people to live according to his likes. I think Shabbi by now has understood that he is a difficult man to be with so for that she tried to show a little gesture of attention by preparing his breakfast, which sadly he didn’t even get to know of.

Kiran has no issues whatsoever in her life because she is with her parents, in the same house, married to her cousin but she is picking up on nominal details. I think this is her insecurity that is making her react needlessly. But in this episode I think Tipu also doesn’t have a clean slate because he gets a bit too touchy whenever he senses someone touched his phone. Did he also have some strings attached back in Turkey when he was studying or just like he said Cathy is ‘just a friend’? His reaction tells the otherwise but whatever it is, something is definitely up.

Direction is definitely slow & I think the director is taking his sweet time but yes, I am still interested in finding out what’s in store for us. :)

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Veena Malik and Asad Bashir Leaves to Perform Umrah

0

Oh No! Not again! It is perhaps my bad luck that I get the first chance to break latest reveals about her. Yes,  Veena Malik again, but this time with a better subject. There had been rumors about Veena’s meeting with scholars where she promised Maulana Tariq Jameel to seek guidance. It is now only that the actress, with her newlywed husband, has left to perform Umrah.

The couple was spotted at the Airport where they were found wearing Ahraams.

Starting his career with Pakistani dramas and gaining further prominence with his live radio shows, Sahir has had been lucky initially to enjoy a huge fan following. Sahir is now all set to make his debut with an upcoming Pakistani film ‘Mausam’.  The film is directed by Parveiz Kaleem and the project includes new talents like fresh art directors from the National College of Arts in Lahore and an undisclosed London-trained film-maker who has the experience of working with Indian directors.

h1

While revealing more about this upcoming venture, Sahir disclosed that he always wanted to do films. He said:

“I always wanted to do films. In fact, television was more or less an accident. Nevertheless it was a blessing; it came at a time when I became a trendsetter and everybody then followed. Eventually, I got tired of all of that and wanted to do something bigger. People don’t know this but even when I was doing television, I was trying really hard to do films, but it just never happened. Now I feel it’s the right time, and hopefully it will pay off,”

Also,

“This isn’t a run-of-the-mill, typical Lollywood or even Bollywood project. Instead its aesthetics can be related to Hollywood films because while it is a romantic film, the emotional concept behind it is very different from usual,”

The story of this upcoming movie revolves around the relationship of a father and a son. The movie is expected to make its release somewhere soon in 2014.

Online Shopping

0

If you want affordable cars, affordable clothes, used or totally new stuff and you do not have enough time to go to the malls, then there are several wonderful online shopping sites for you to visit. The main objective of online shopping is to sell the products to the consumers without making them go through the entire tiring mall visits. Online shopping has made our lives easier than anything. In such a hectic daily life, it is very difficult to fulfill your shopping desires, taking out time for malls has become a huge problem this is why most people prefer online shopping where they can buy their desired products at the comfort of their homes. Citizens around the world can gain more information about products and services that are available abroad. The needy customers can browse online shopping catalogues without putting any effort. As the internet is becoming popular day by day, this has increased the trend of online shopping.

Beautiful young woman shopping over internet
The most popular sites for online shopping include Amazon and ebay. In Pakistan many facebook pages are now launched that sell products online. These products include, jewellery, dresses, handbags, cosmetics, shoes and phone accessories. Some of the famour online shopping sites of Pakistan include; OLX and Daraz.pk. The famous facebook pages that sell products online include; Stylista, Glitteratti, Desire accessories, Libaas and many more. Even i prefer online shopping and i have ordered a lot of stuff from these facebook pages. The advantage with these sites is that they offer a wide range of products from different brands or titles, which makes the comparison of goods a lot easier for the consumer. The consumer can browse product categories with different brands and compare prices, features and specifications, quality and performance.

 Online-Shopping
There have been many issues regarding online shopping since its launch in the World Wide Web. Most concerns deal with the late deliveries and poor return/exchange policy. Phishing and pharming sites are websites that pretend to be a trustworthy website that traps the consumer by acquiring their very sensitive information like usernames, passwords, and credit card details for criminal intentions. So always remember that Internet scams exists online just like in the real world. Always be cautious of the websites you intend to do Online shopping from. On the contrary, shopping online with your credit card is safe as long as you deal with a trusted retailer who maintains a verified site and apart from this you must also buy products from a place which you already know or you have heard of is trustworthy. Since 2000, businesses are becoming more and more interested with online visibility. Even bookstores and supermarkets have launched online shopping as a new medium that targets the consumers that are unavailable to visit the store and provide them the convenience of on-time deliveries and secured transactions. If you are interested to purchase items online for the first time, it is important to consider the websites reputation, the extensive product information and availability online, the speed of ordering process and shipping, discount availability, return-exchange-refund policy, and especially the payment scheme. Online shopping websites require credit card payments, but you can email them if they have other options. Other websites have other means of payment transaction like debit cards, electronic money, cash-on-delivery, cheques, wire transfer, postal money order, and PayPal/ Xoom. The biggest advantage is of the cash on delivery option, consumers have to wait for their order, see if its perfect and then pay the amount. This offer usually attracts thousands of consumers.

CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC

Everything has its pros and cons, online shopping is considered as something that is helpful but on the other hand some psychiatrists say tha increased addiction of online shopping leads to compulsive shopping disorders. In this disease the patient starts to give priority to online shopping and starts ignoring everything else. Online shopping is usually considered just a hobby but it becomes an addiction when online shopping begins taking over your daily life. The addicts when not engaged in online shopping, start thinking about it and seem to be in a whole new imaginary shopping mall. This sounds funny but it is a fact. They often start to overspend and buy useless items. They tend to neglect their jobs and families. They lie about their purchases and what they spent and as a result they accumulate massive amounts of debt which lead to depression and anxiety. Treatments for this disorder focus on learning how to manage this addictive behaviour. This type of shopper needs to find what causes him to spend, and learn how to avoid those triggers. Erasing any saved credit card information from all websites is also highly recommended. Most importantly, the addict must set his or her own money and time limits. Excess of everything is bad this is why we should know how to balance stuff in our lives, when we get to know this trick then life becomes a whole lot easier.

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 09!

0

Ohkay, so brace yourselves because I am going to be all praises for this particular episode. This was by far the best episode in terms of performances, dialogues & expression of emotions. I am so glad to have tuned to this show because everything about this simple show is absolutely brilliant.

I definitely thought that the idea of Shehryar & Aiza being together was a little odd & I thought it’s going to be uncomfortable to see them get married but the way they have executed their feelings, their emotions, their pre-wedding conversations, it just came across as nothing unusual. I must give credit to Shehzad Nawaz & Mehwish Hayat for performing so brilliantly today & for making their relation look perfect. When Aiza called Shehryar to confirm the acceptance of his proposal, I had so many questions but the very first one was that isn’t Shehryar curious to find out why she agreed or is he not going to ask her about how she actually feels about getting married to him but thankfully as the episode progressed everything fell perfectly into it’s place & all the aspects were covered brilliantly.

Aiza’s discomfort, Bakhtiyar’s concern, him being apologetic, his dissatisfaction, Bhabhi’s jubilance, Shehryar’s confession, his satisfaction & also Laiba’s excitement about her father’s decision, everything was portrayed with perfection. In terms of acting & dialogues, I restate this has to be the best episode this drama has offered till now. I feel Aiza’s honesty conveyed a lot about who she is as a person & how concerned she is about her priorities. Sheheryar said the right thing that her honesty makes her admirable & also his assurance was something Aiza needed to stay firm on the decision she made. For a moment, I did think why Aiza chose Shehryar over Saad because obviously she knew how he felt about her too but then it reminded me of Laiba’s obsession to her cousin & how Aiza promised Laiba to bring her closer to Saad. So, for that purpose I think Aiza made the right choice.

I would’ve appreciated if they had shown Aiza a bit less burdened by the time she had signed the Nikkah papers because this was her own decision without anyone’s say in it so she should’ve been a bit more confident but I think she knew that Shehryar was keeping it as a surprise for his family, which may have concerned her especially how Laiba would react so I think it was justified for her to be stressed. I felt for poor Saad too, he had just recovered from a fatal disease luckily & obviously he was mentally too fragile to be watching his first love go unrequited. I wish his timing was a bit better but obviously he couldn’t have undone what had to happen.

Indeed the character of Sheheyar Hamdani is that of a gentleman, Aiza’s character is something to look up to. The thing I love about this drama is the characterization. I feel the writer paid special attention to bring out the best of each & every character & the facts about all the characters have been established flawlessly. If we look at Cuckoo, even though she is playing a negative character, she doesn’t come across as someone who is completely evil. To me, she is someone who is very very practical & keeps everything in mind when she deals with people. Her move to Shahryar’s house wasn’t something she just stumbled upon in compulsion, in fact it was a well-thought move on her part because she knew she wanted to settle again but with a financially secure person. I love her bits & bobs with her employee & especially how he is always uneasy & how she bosses around him. I must say Aiza’s bhabhi looked really cute in her yellow outfit with her curly hair-do & loud dramatic makeup, she was just so happy to see Aiza getting married to a rich businessman. Mehwish Hayat looked really pretty too but I would’ve liked if she had chosen a different outfit for her Nikkah. Laiba & Sheheryar’s conversation even though was very short but was just enough to show how strong a father-daughter relation can be plus to see Laiba at her age, being so supportive of her father’s decision to get married again is great too.

Finally, something amazing to watch & I am glad it has not at all been disappointing. I think the director deserves a special mention here because obviously all the credit goes to him for executing such a nice story in an unimaginable way. All the attention to detail, acting of all the actors, I am sure the director has worked really hard to provide us with a decent family entertainment & he succeeded. Totally impressed & looking forward to the next episode because it certainly has a lot more drama to offer.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Faiza Mujahid’s take on Music and Music Industry

0

Faiza Mujahid’s music is not about numbers. Since her coming-out party, with the film Khuda Ke Liye’s soundtrack, she says her work ethic has evolved more towards relating to the music she makes. There was a time when she wanted to make music for herself, to release albums and singles. Today, however, that is not the case and she has come to terms with that.

“There was a time when I wanted to make music my bread and butter, but I realised that there is no music industry to speak of, it caters to people who have already made it,” Mujahid tells. It’s been three years since Meri Zindagi was released, which presented her as one of Pakistan’s ultimate rock chicks. The song was very personal to her and seemed to connect well with her own place in life and her search for independence.

She laughs and says that she was in her 20s and going through a time when she felt that women in our society have a set timetable. The song had the sort of success that she didn’t realise would happen.

“It was really interesting because of the type of responses I got. There were many young girls and women who emailed me about how the song had given them motivation,” says Mujahid. That’s why her latest single Uth Oye is interesting. It doesn’t necessarily move beyond the phase of her 20s but it engages with, and tries to bring about, a sense of positivity to the picture. After three years in the shadows, Mujahid is restructuring her career priorities, and is approaching music in a different manner.

“People are always so negative. My idea now is that even if you know about the negative things, you should be thinking positively and being positive,” says Mujahid. Uth Oye has a sort of anthem feel to it, and the video tries to articulate Mujahid’s positive frame of mind.

“I can say this is my anthem. I don’t think I set out to make anthems or anything, but it’s how I feel, and these are things I feel strongly about and believe in, so people do find it motivational.”

The song is written and composed by Haider Hashmi, a good friend of Mujahid’s. The singer gave Hashmi full freedom to use his words to express what she was feeling. She says the experience has been fulfilling, since she is now making music on her own terms. The video showcases the stories of three females who have touched people on many levels.

Take for instance Farah Deeba, the 26-year-old who started an initiative to educate and provide schooling to underprivileged children at the tender age of 20. Today, her institute Alam Bibi Welfare caters widely to the underprivileged. The video also shows Sabira Sultana, a former burns’ victim who is now a patient coordinator at Depilex Smileagain Foundation. Sultan has overcome trauma to provide inspiration to many other women.

Haider Hashmi, who is best known for his cornerstone role in the band Aaroh, which is also making a slow comeback, said “I felt that the feeling had to be one of hope or umeed, since I had wanted to write for women who have to struggle so much on a daily-basis, so the idea was to portray the feeling that you cannot let anything bring you down,”. He also disclosed that he would be working on more projects with Mujahid, and that they had already penned a number of other songs.

Do you think she is right when she says “There is no music industry to speak of”

Ranjish Hi Sahi – Episode 12

0

This latest installment of Ranjish Hi Sahi was emotionally charged; a big thanks to the director Nadeem Siddique and the writer Maha Malik for blending the emotions of different characters in such a way that you never feel like the emotional aspect of the play has been overdone to make the viewers feel for the characters. I have watched quite a few plays in the recent past which were meant to be very moving but they actually annoyed me because despite of all the emotional trauma that the characters were going through, I completely failed to connect with them. It takes more than just tragedies and tears to make the viewers feel for the characters.

Tooba and Hiba have a lot more to deal with than just the loss of their mother now that they know all about the financial crisis Yumna was in. Even though Yumna’s assistant made it clear to them that Yumna was under stress due to reasons other than the repercussions of her nikkah with Kamal but Hiba and Tooba still hold Kamal responsible for their mother’s death. Sana Javed’s acting in all the scenes was much more convincing than that of Maya Ali.

rhs2

Kamal Hassan’s state of mind was depicted flawlessly by Faisal Rehman. Kamal has clearly gone into depression not only because he lost someone he loved so much but also because he did not stand by Yumna the way he should have. Yumna and Hiba have each other too share their grief with but Kamal has no one like that. On the contrary, he is surrounded by people who are not willing to let him mourn Yumna’s death the way he would want to and Yumna’s daughters are not allowing him to do anything to support them.

rhs3

Rohail expects his mother to be more understanding of her husband’s situation. I could also relate to what Bilquees must have been going through; it is not a good situation to be in. Emaad Irfani’s acting wasn’t up to the mark in tonight’s episode. His dialogue delivery was very mediocre in this latest episode unlike the past few episodes in which he was very convincing.

rhs5

The preview of the next episode showed that Hiba and Tooba will be forced to leave their house in the next episode. I have no idea what turn the story will take from here. I am guessing that Kamal will refuse to move to the US because if he leaves then he will be completely out of the picture. He might just get the house back for Yumna’s daughters because they have no place else to go to.

Overall, this was a very touching episode. I think Yumna deserved to be mourned the way it was shown in this episode. In my opinion this latest episode belonged to Faisal Rehman, he is such a remarkable actor. Ranjish Hi Sahi has a strong plot, a different story and some superb performances to its credit.

The First Ever Lux Calendar Photoshoot!

0

The brand Lux needs no introduction, it is known for hosting one of the biggest award functions of Pakistan, the Lux Style Awards which recognizes and appreciated talents from all fields.

Recently, Lux unveiled the first ever celebrity calendar of Pakistan amidst some of the biggest celebrities of Pakistan at the Lahore Grande, with a lavish and star-studded launch. The calendar, which is the first ever celebrity calendar of Pakistan, was eagerly being awaited since a while now. It proved to be a visual treat for guests when it was finally unveiled at the event. All of them praised the beautiful shots captured in it.

The Lux calendar is shaped like a perfume bottle to signify the brands commitment to luxury fragrances in their products. The four-page spread is a salute to a woman’s beauty and Lux’s concept that no one can take their eyes off of a true Lux woman.

Lux pays tribute to the thriving TV industry by featuring actors Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa as part of its calendar shoot. The actors pose in a world of floral splendour, surrounded by a riot of flowers, to bring alive the fragrant identity of the brand.

Along with the TV fraternity, Lux also pays homage to the fashion industry that has helped the brand create its image. Models Rabia Butt and Emaad Irfani also pose for the calendar, but in a more cosmopolitan setting. Emaad Irfani has previously been seen in the Lux TV commercial and Lux decided to approach him again for its calendar shoot. “Being featured in a Lux campaign for the second time, I can officially call myself the Lux boy. Working for Lux means that you are one of the most prominent faces in Pakistan.” says Irfani.

The beautiful photoshoot has been done splendidly by Guddu and Shaani, a big name in itself. The breathtaking dresses and suits are designed by the established designer Kamiar Rokni who designed it exclusively for the calendar shoot. All the designer wear was made keeping in mind its setting and looked a class apart!

“The basic point of the calendar is to add a touch of glamour to life. For this calendar, we used stars from both TV and the fashion industry as we believe these are two of the biggest industries which cannot be ignored,” says Enshe, Brand Manager Lux. “The fragrance value of Lux has been visualized through these pictures.”

Celebrities from all fields graced the launch with their presence. Some of the celebrities spotted at the event were HSY, Khawar Riaz, Emmad Irfani, Kamiar Rokni, Fahad Hussayn, Yousaf Salahuddin, Babloo, Kuki, Amanat Ali, Nooray Bhatty, Mohsin Ali, Xile Huma, Amanat Ali, Natasha Saigol and Goher Mumtaz.

The launch was definitely a night to remember right down from the décor to the food. The event reflected the calendar photo shoot itself with its floral and cosmopolitan look, yet there was a unique and soothing touch to it. The live orchestra added the final touch to the event.

The grand launch featured the exclusive calendar in a display resembling an art gallery. There was an exclusive live photo booth where pictures were taken of all guests and then developed and framed to be gifted to them, serving as a souvenir to remind them of the glamorous night they attended.

Here are the pictures from the Lux Calendar 2014:

Big screen and Sahir Lodhi

0

You have watched in bewilderment as he melted women’s hearts with his charm and wit on live television, and even on the radio, but it is now time to witness Sahir Lodhi’s flamboyance on the silver screen. The talk show host has recently completed scripting his first feature film, titled Mausam, and will be officially launching it by month’s end.

Lodhi has always had a penchant for acting and was offered a number of opportunities outside of Lahore, but his business commitments restricted him take up any project. “I always wanted to do films. In fact, television was more or less an accident. Nevertheless it was a blessing; it came at a time when I became a trendsetter and everybody then followed. Eventually, I got tired of all of that and wanted to do something bigger,” says Lodhi.

Lodhi has since then taken a break from the small screen and focused completely on his film. “If you do a show for five to six months regularly, who would want to come and watch you in cinemas? So, I wanted to take this break,” says Lodhi, who spends most of his time at the Lahore Hockey Stadium, where he works as the youth ambassador and media organiser for the Punjab Youth Festival.

Lodhi is not only acting in the project, but also producing it, under his and partner Irfan Rafique’s banner called Red Ocean. Rafique, who has worked closely with the delightful host, says that Lodhi has a great sense of creativity and is business-savvy. Hence, film-making seems logical for him to pursue and the originality of this script was apt.

“We thought the story is very powerful and he had been trying to work on the story for two to three years. When we discussed the idea with potential sponsors, even their response was positive because they found the subject to be very interesting and original,” says Rafique. “That’s why, when we formed the company, we decided to put everything else on the backburner and work on the feature film as our first major production.”

With Mausam, Lodhi hopes to add to the diversity of film-making, now prevalent in Pakistani cinema. The film which is about a father-son relationship will be directed by veteran screenwriter and director Pervaiz Kaleem. The project also includes new talents like fresh art directors from the National College of Arts in Lahore and an undisclosed London-trained film-maker who has the experience of working with Indian directors.

Lodhi emphasises he is serious about quality film-making and therefore, he is maintained a balance of experienced and fresh people on his production team. “This isn’t a run-of-the-mill, typical Lollywood or even Bollywood project. Instead its aesthetics can be related to Hollywood films because while it is a romantic film, the emotional concept behind it is very different from usual,” asserts Lodhi.

It is apparent that with this film, Lodhi has been able to follow his life-long dream of entering commercial cinema. “People don’t know this but even when I was doing television, I was trying really hard to do films, but it just never happened. Now I feel it’s the right time, and hopefully it will pay off,” he says.

The team is currently looking for a female lead, which will likely be from India. However, there have been rumours that they have signed British model Puja Panchkoty. The film will go on the floors in the coming few months, while the official press announcement will be made by the end of this month.

After the success of hit Pakistani drama ‘Humsafar’ on the UK channel Rishtey, its sister station (Colors UK) will be re-running the popular series in a weekday daily slot from next week.

Currently, the show is airing for the third time on the Pakistani channel Hum TV, and even now people are glued to their screens to watch the blockbuster show. Veena Malik & Asad Bashir Latest Photoshoot for Vogue Magazine

0

Our very own drama Queen,Veena Malik did a photoshoot alongwith her husband for Vogue Magazine few days back. Honestly speaking, this is the first time I liked Veena’s appearance in any photshoot. Her Husband Asad Bashir Khatak is looking equally well in every capture.

This is not the first time when Veena did a shoot for Vogue International. it is the same magazine for which Veena did a photoshoot with ISI tattoo on her arm and that was the time when she was back in news due to her nude clicks. Later, she declared that publisher morphed it without consulting her. Whatever the story was, Veena is all okay with her past and this is the reason why she got ready to do this shoot.

Enjoy Veena and Asad’s photoshoot here :

Best Series: I Have Ever Seen!

0

First of all, I am writing this piece just to share my experience about the certain series that I came across on the internet. This is by no means intended to hurt anyone or impose my beliefs on, nor I am writing it to judge anyone or their choices. I am always prone to learning & I love researching about things that interest me. So, here’s my list of a few series that I watched – not for the sake of entertainment but to actually understand things better.

The Arrivals:

I got to watch this 50 episodes based documentary in 2009. It was produced by Egyptian students Noreagaaa & Achenahr who took this as a project & tried to unveil the secret societies that aren’t so secret. We are indeed surrounded by people who are working in order to please whom they worship. The Arrivals, as the name suggests spoke about the arrival of the false messiah, the antichrist Dajjal & also about the most anticipated arrival of Imam Mahdi (Alayhe Salam) & Prophet Essa (Alayhe Salam). I must say the information they shared in each one of the 10-minute episode was eye-opening. All our lives, being Muslims Allhamdullilah we have heard about the ‘fitnah of Dajjal’ & about the ‘one-eyed Dajjal’ but to actually understand how things rolled & who worshipped him, this series helped me a lot. Their planning doesn’t date back to some years or decade, but it dates back to the time when Pharaohs ruled the world. The main secret societies or rather cults that were exposed are Illuminati & Freemasons.

Illuminati & Freemasonry dates back to the time before Islam. They have always communicated to each other through symbols & certain shapes – clearly their favorite is the triangle or in fact Pyramid would be the appropriate term for it. I never thought I would ever see their symbolism because I thought they were discreet but I was sadly mistaken & fortunately awaken to actually see how we have been surrounded by their agendas throughout our lives. Media is their best chosen mode of communication. Hollywood & it’s celebrities are another one of their stooges which promote what they want them to. It was upsetting to see Disney being involved in conveying the subliminal messages as well in all the cartoons too.

There are certainly a few symbolisms that they use which are a hand gesture that depict Satan, one-eye or rather all-seeing eye, pyramids in each one of their movies or videos in the background, 5 pointed star of David or pentagram, skull & bones, lightning bolt, black & white checkered patterns, numbers 3, 33, 13, 31, hand gesture of number 666 & also America’s helpline number 911 has a significant meaning to them.

01

I am glad I got a chance to come across this documentary because it always made sense & what I loved the most about it that they didn’t speak about anything without proofs. The didn’t speak about the conspiracy theories in fact they added weight to their research by exposing people with the help of those who are working or have worked for their agenda. The whole series was filled with different interviews, different images that made it easy to understand where they were coming from. Illuminati’s main agenda is to form a One World Government known as New World Order (NWO) which is free of all the religions (Astaghfirullah) & to have people surrendering to their king i-e Dajjal. The series are uploaded on YouTube & also can be downloaded through the torrents. Those who really want to understand & are in search for the truth, I humbly recommend these series to them.

Brasstacks – Economic Terrorism by Zaid Hamid:

I know Zaid Hamid has been in a limelight for certain controversies but I am speaking about his documentary only in which he spoke exactly on the lines of The Arrivals. For me brasstacks was an Urdu version of The Arrivals which was made to convey the message to the people of Pakistan about what was happening around. I appreciate Zaid Hamid’s efforts because he not only spoke about Illuminati & Freemasonry but also about the economic conditions of the world. He made a lot more sense & what appealed to me was the way he started resting the facts from such a grassroot level to make it easier for the people to understand.

(Persian) Yousuf-e-Payambar Alayhe Salam / (Urdu) Hazrat Yousuf Alayhe Salam:

This the by far THE BEST series I have watched ever in my life. It is an Iranian series based on total 45 episodes each of 40 minutes duration, that showcased the life of Prophet Yousuf (Alayhe Salam) in such a detail. Produced in 2008 & acted by the Iranis, the actual series is in Persian but it has been dubbed in Urdu for Pakistani audience as well. I feel the way they have actually showcased the life of Nabi Yousuf (Alayhe Salam) is commendable. Nothing controversial & nothing to put anyone’s beliefs to question, the way they have picturized it, it shows the chronological events that have been discussed in The Chapter # 12 of Holy Qur’an – Surah Yousuf. For me it was an amazing experience to have watched it because the simplicity with which they have portrayed the life & the hardships that our beloved Prophet had to endure, it just gives a breathing to our Imaan & we are left with the feeling of starting afresh. I absolutely loved the series & recommend it to everyone. The series is uploaded on both YouTube & Dailymotion with the title – ‘Hazrat Yousuf (Alayhe Salam)’.

Fotor0121210823

Once again, my only intention was to share something interesting that I have come across till now in my life. These series have left a greater impact on me & I just wanted to share what I have experienced. If you have ever seen a series worth mentioning, please share your choices & if you have seen any of the three that I have spoken of, feel free to pour in your say about them too! :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Umair Jaswal – The Man Who Mesmerized Us All!

0

Umair Jaswal is the leading vocalist of the rock band Qayaas, which has brought progressive rock music in Pakistan. The band Qayaas started when in 2008, lead guitarist and songwriter, Khurram Waqar first saw Umair Jaswal performing at a jam with his band SilverSmoke at his studio in Islamabad.  Khurram has been searching for a lead vocalist back then, and Umair caught his attention immediately. He had enough material for an album and asked Umair to become the lead vocalist. Next person to join them was the guitarist Sarmad Abdul Ghafoor followed by bassist Shaheryar Ghayas, and drummer Salman Rafique. And thus, the hit band Qayaas came into being!

qayaas 1

Qayaas achieved fame with the release of the single ‘Tanha’ in 2009, followed by the success of the song ‘Umeed’ which became one of the most requested songs on City FM 89 when released in an audio CD with ‘Tanha’. The release of the single began to create a cult following for the band, the following year the song ‘Mera Wana’ by the band featured on the compilation album, Metal Asia Compilation in 2010 which was composed of metal music from throughout Asia. Soon after wards, the band released their second music video ‘Pukaar’ which was dedicated to the 2010 Pakistan flood victims, and then went on recording and releasing their debut studio album Uss Paar in 2011. Qayaas has become one of the most popular Pakistani band from then on!

Umair Jaswal, the lead vocalist, is known for his power-packed live performances and enthralls the audiences with his voice. You would be quite surprised to know that he is the son of a renowned scientist and have a degree in geology! However, he was determined to pursue his dream of a musical career and he has definitely been lucky to have gained fame in such a short span of time. His brother, Uzair Jaswal also happens to be a singer and is termed as the youngest Coke Studio sensation. He is known for his hit number ‘Tere Bin’ featured in Coke Studio Season 5.

Jaswal came into the limelight with his band’s performance alongside Atif Aslam for the song Charkha Nolakha in Coke Studio season 5. The singer then decided to perform solo in the season 6. The song Khayal which was launched in this season on Coke Studio in its very first episode has already been featured in the film Waar.

uj 2

And yes folks, Umair Jaiswal is the man behind three of the most engaging and spectacular songs in the biggest blockbuster movie of the year, Waar. Two of his songs, Halaak and Inquilaab, from his album Uss Paar has been featured in Waar along with the song Khayaal.

uj 4

Jaswal apparently wrote the song Khayal eight years ago but never found the right time to release it. “When I was approached by Coke Studio producer Rohail Hyatt last year, I felt that the time was right,” says Umair. But because of the unanticipated delay in the season, the song got released in Waar first. Khayaal is a mesmerizing song with different versions available.

Umair Jaswal surprised everyone when he got selected as Pakistan’s Youth Ambassador by the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC). The initiative includes providing education to internally displaced children from Waziristan and Kashmir.

The program aims to engage a young, enthusiastic and energetic music icon like Jaswal to campaign for education through concerts and other activities across Pakistan. With this project, a number of internally displaced children will be selected and enrolled in schools in Islamabad. A great initiative indeed!

Apart from Coke Studio, Jaswal has collaborated with renowned Sufi singer Abida Perveen. “We were in awe of Madam Abida Perveen when she came and performed at our studio. We didn’t realize how fast time passed. It was unreal and mesmerizing,” Jaswal stated. “Collaborating with her is an experience beyond words,” he added.

His band Qayaas has also won many awards, including the ‘Best Rock Band’ award at the Rolling Stones-Jack Daniels awards in 2010.The band’s song “Inquilaab” also made it to the Semi Finals of International Songwriting Competition (ISC) out of 15,000 entries from all over the globe.

I hope we get to see some more of the spectacular work of this band that got the opportunity to be recognized worldwide and gain international fame by getting a chance to feature their songs in the film Waar!

0

Q-Mobile has yet again made it; and this time it is even bigger. As per the authentic news revealed, it has been found that the five years old Pakistani Mobile company has now approached three of the prominent Hollywood celebrities for its next endorsement. The company offered a good package to Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie from whom it is Angelina who will be seen as its brand ambassador in near future.

 d124e3401a9eb75cffd06a1e6d297ae270375daa

It is to be noted that Angelina’s social work here in Pakistan has had been appreciated previously in Pakistan and has brought her even a better fame. To be accurate enough, negotiations in between the actress and the company are in process and there are all fair chances that Angelina might be the next official face of Q-mobile after Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor.

This move was believed to be one of the most expensive in MicroMax’s corporate strategy but experts thought it to be the company’s surge into International Markets. This emerging mobile company seems to have good intentions of spreading its business globally soon and probably such foreign faces will help it to create a potential audience.

Let us now wait and watch what new Q-Mobile brings this time!
