Dil-e-Muztar Episode 15 – Moving on…

0

The show may have gotten a bit boring after the first 8 or 9 episodes but now since the past 3 weeks, it is back on track. We got to see one shocking twist after the other; First Affan’s death then Adeel’s marriage to Zoya and then the news of the second baby. Now I must confess that I am even more hooked to the show than before because the twists are keeping the show alive and providing perfect entertainment to the viewers. Sanam Jung and Sarwat Gillani are the show stealers as they both have managed to impress me with their brilliant performance. Sarwat was never seen doing a character like this before and she has breathed life into Zoya’s character while Sanam Jung has just shocked me with her beautiful performance in her very first serial. Sorry to all Imran Abbas’s fans out there, he has done justice to his character but for me these two lovely ladies is the reason why I watch this show week after week.

This episode concentrated on showing what Silah’s character is going through, her inner turmoil, her guilt and regret. Safeena and Ahmer are two major people in her life who are helping her through this tough time. Safeena wants Silah to start over and help her in her business which she has decided to re open but Silah’s confidence has been crushed after what Adeel did to her and she does not consider herself capable of taking the responsibility of such a big task. The scene where she is shown remembering her life before marriage and all her memories with Adeel and Zehra Chachi was heart breaking to watch. Ahmer quickly rushed to her side when he saw her hysterical state and tried to console her. I absolutely loved this scene and hats off to Sanam who did an absolutely wonderful job as the scene came out perfect.

I cannot believe that Adeel was the one to patch things up with Zoya after what she had asked of him. After Zoya’s mother filed her ears that she would hold no place in Adeel’s life as long as Silah is there and told her to ask Adeel to give divorce to Silah, she actually went up to Adeel and kept her demand in front of him. Adeel got angry at her demand and tried to convince her that Silah was no longer a part of their lives but he got upset when she kept on insisting. Well, the interesting part is that he was the one who initiated the talking and gave in to Zoya’s demand to divorce Silah! What caused the drastic change in him all of a sudden? He was never this polite or kind to Silah! He never apologized to Silah because of his extra big ego but he kept his ego aside and patched things up with Zoya. That’s just great!

Only one good thing came out of Adeel’s mouth in this episode and I could not believe my ears when he said those words. He praised Silah and compared her with Zoya when Zoya complained that there was no food in the house. He told her that Silah had been there during the worst days of his life when he was jobless and not her. Zoya got angry when Adeel mentioned Silah’s name but she controlled her anger and quickly went and apologized to Adeel for her and her mother’s behavior. This made Adeel happy and their cozy moments together were just unbearable to watch! This is just the beginning Adeel, you are yet to know the real Zoya!

Sami and Nabeela’s visited Adeel’s house and the situation got very awkward for all of them when Adeel introduced Zoya as his wife. Nabeela’s lecture to Adeel was very much needed as he needed to be given a reality check. He never valued Silah’s unconditional love for him and never thought from her point of view but Nabeela’s words were very much needed at this point and I hope Adeel ponders over them.

The preview for the next episode seems interesting as we will get to see the entry of a new baby and he will also be named Affan. I am looking forward to the next episode now!

Reema Khan to produce her next Indo-Pak Movie!

0

It is not new that the actors of yesterday are now known as the producers of today and Reema Khan is a good example of it. After her last movie ‘Love Main Gumm’, Reema is now planning to come up with her second project as a producer, primarily focusing on an Indo-Pak movie to be her next venture. The idea is about to take a real shape as Reema has already taken permission from her husband and has asked her sister Maairah Khan to find investors for her project. What many of you might not be knowing is the fact that Reema’s sister Maairah works as a manager in a reputed Bank  and had managed her sister in her last movie. Being a part of a major bank, Maairah is now finding investors and businessmen she know who can finance the movie and make the idea turn into a real project.

Reema has lately been noticed in her Tour guide program that she is hosting all the way from United States and will now soon be coming to Pakistan to work out on the project. The news has buzzed off her fans on social media websites where she is been discussed on different fan pages.

Let us see, what Reema has got now to bring it on screen after her last movie, but there is one thing for sure, that all the celebrities in general, are trying to raise the standards of the Lollywood industry which is a positive move towards the development of the industry.

While Reema has taken a new role in her professional career after her marriage, It might be Meera who too switch towards production after her marriage this June as revealed by the spokeman.

We wish all the best to Reema for her future endeavours,

Blessings,

Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani Create Magic on Stage!

0

Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani both need no introduction as they have established their places in the industry. Zindagi Gulzar Hai’s Kashaf and Dil-e-Muztar’s Zoya were seen together recently in a theatre play called ‘Dhaani’. If their performances onscreen have kept you hooked then this play would leave you awestruck. The play was co-produced by Shaan and Umar Sultan and written by Aamra Alam and Imrana Maqsood. Dhaani was one of the most hyped and well promoted theater play as the producer left no stone unturned to promote it as it had a lot of potential. Sarwat and Sanam were seen in different morning shows and they were also seen giving interviews to different news channels for its promotion. Well, it is obvious that this well promoted play was house full almost every day and was well received by the audiences. A lot of celebrities also came to the watch the beautiful performances by Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani. The demand of this play exceeded everyone’s expectation and it was extended from its original 16 days (15th May to 31st May) to 19 days (till 2th June). I must also add that they also hiked the price in the last three days!

dhani 3

The 75 minutes long play was a mixture of humor, sarcasm, cliched phrases and most importantly showed a very realistic environment. It was the story of two housewives Ruqaiya (Sanam Saeed) and Rashida (Sarwat Gillani) who happens to be each others’ neighbors. They are friends as well as foes; they argue, flight, gossip but in the end they are always there for each other. Sanam Saeed character is shown as an egotistical and dominating woman while Sarwat is more of a bubbly type with a typical middle class mindset. Ruqaiya shares her doubts about her husband having an affair with Rashida and this is what the whole story revolves around. Rashida with her typical middle class mindset starts filing Ruqaiya’s head with a baseless idea that her husband is involved with a ‘Gori Larki’ (They referred to her as the firaaq wali larki). Sarwat’s character never failed to add fuel to the fire which further increased Ruqaiya’s doubt on her husband. Well in the end, it just turned out be just the fantasy of both of their minds!

The best part of the play was the two bickering woman hurling acrimonious remarks at each other which were delivered in situations that were filled with humor and this made the audiences laugh! Ruqaiya’s character hailed from a slightly better off family while Rashida’s character was less well off and the love hate relationship between them was portrayed perfectly! The chemistry between Sanam and Sarwat was apparent as they also happen to be good friends in real life and this was reflected in their performances. The whole backdrop added more charm to the play and all the props were used perfectly. The highlight of the play was the mind blowing performances by both the main characters. Their expressions, dialogue delivery and comic timing was just spot on! The credit for this brilliant play also goes to its very talented director Umar Sultan whose direction gave life to this play. The writer also did full justice to the play as it has turned out to be a masterpiece.

Furthermore, there were two more characters who added more charm to the play. Rashida’s mother (played by Sundus Tariq) and Fayaz Chacha (played by Kamal Hussain) both gave their best. Fayaz Chacha’s character as an aging womanizer was a welcome treat and provided the audiences with a good dose of laughter and his performance was appreciated. Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani’s exquisite dance moves on old songs also gave a fair share of entertainment to the audiences. The whole team of this play deserves a huge round of applause for their absolutely outstanding performances!

Telefilm Behadd – A Complete Package

0

I found myself counting days when I saw the promos of Behadd, it seemed like a brand new story with a stellar cast. I was waiting for Umera Ahmed to come up with something new, Fawad Khan with his new look and a character that seemed different from what he usually does, Nadia Jamil’s sheer presence on-screen coupled with Adnan Siddiqui’s guaranteed brilliant acting and of course Sajjal Ali; these were few of the reasons because of which I had very high expectations from this telefilm. Honestly speaking I felt that the cast and the script was picture perfect even before watching the telefilm but sometimes when you have such high hopes from something it is very likely that you get disappointed if the product is not as good as promised! Well, I can say with all certainty that this was not the case with Behadd. Asim Raza’s direction was absolutely flawless, Umera Ahmed’s script left nothing to be desired for and the acting by all the actors was top notch – it proved to be a thoroughly entertaining telefilm with all the right ingredients in the right proportions. The sizzling on-screen chemistry amongst all the characters, big or small made Behadd a delight to watch. The entire cast was very well chosen, it was great to see Shamoon Abbasi and Nosheen (Poppy) making their presence felt in their respective roles although they were not the central characters in the story.

behaad4

Yes, most certainly, excess of everything is bad! Even too much love sometimes can ruin relationships because it can sow seeds of jealousy and possessiveness. Behadd is the story of a single mother Masooma (Nadial Jamil), who does everything in her power and more to give her daughter all the love and care in the world. Masooma and Hassan (Adnan Siddiqui) have a perfect life until Hassan dies in a car accident leaving Masooma and their daughter Maha (Sajjal Ali) behind. Masooma’s motherly instinct to protect and love her daughter completely overpowers everything else in her life. Maha won’t allow her mother to be happy; she only wants her mother all to herself. The message of the telefilm was brought forward in such an apt manner that there was absolutely no confusion. I couldn’t help but question myself as a mother as well and learned that sometimes too much love or the need to protect your child can seriously backfire. Raising children is the hardest job in the world and no mother who has put in her best effort to raise her child should question herself even once but then it is easier said than done! Also, children should know that parents deserve to be happy too, they also need love. It also showed that how easy it is for the children to exploit their parents’ love for them if they want to do so. All through the telefilm I couldn’t help but ask myself different questions like “Is Maha really sensitive or very controlling?” “Do single mothers have a right to have a life of their own – is it okay for them to get married?”

 behaad

Maha cannot bear to see her mother having a good time with anyone, not even with her best friend Shafaq (Nadia Afghan). Shafaq wants Masooma to stop treating Maha like a toddler and wants her to go on with her life; get married and find herself some happiness.Nadia Afghan proved yet again that she is a very gifted actress, she has to be another person who is always a joy to watch. I have seen quite a few single mothers like Masooma in my life; their biggest predicament is that “They have a fifteen or so year old daughter!” Jamal Ahmed (Fawad Khan) , an old friend and neighbor enters Masooma’s life like fresh breeze, I felt truly happy for her and thought this was exactly what she deserved. The proposal scene was extremely well done. The relationship between Joe and Moe was another beautiful aspect of this telefilm, even with the age difference and everything else; they did seem like a match made in heaven. The twist in the end completely took me by surprise.

behaad3

Behadd was beautifully directed, the locations were very pleasant to watch, the picture quality and the vibrant colors lit up the television screen. I must thank the entire team of Behadd for a job very well done. All the actors did a fantastic job and I can’t praise the director enough. The OST has also been sung very beautifully, the voice quality was perfect all through the telefilm and the OST for a change was not “abused” and wasn’t overpowering at any time, in fact it was played only a couple of times all through the telefilm. A huge thanks to Hum TV and Momina Duraid for the wonderful effort. Those of you who missed Behadd must watch it.

Sanam Marvi sang an Item Song for ‘Ishq Khuda’

0

Famale Sufi singer Sanam Marvi, who is known for her exceptional skills in the Sufi style singing after the couple of Coke Studio Sessions, will now be taking a new turn in her singing career by giving an item song to an upcoming Lollywood Movie ‘Ishq Khuda’. This actress, coming all the  way from interior Sindh has made her debut as a playback singer with a song ‘Sauf Supari wala paan’ for the movie which will release this Eid.

images

The movie, unlike other Lollywood movies, is said to be a good venture for the Lollywood industry. Been directed by  Shehzad Rafique (Director of Mohabbata Sachiyaan), the movie has a significantly important music as revealed by the spokesman. According to the music director Wajahat Attray:

”All the soundtracks I have directed over the years have included a tint of classical music. I feel classical music is something which we just cannot ignore. Rafique puts a huge emphasis on his music, which has meant that no matter what type of film he is making the audience is receiving something fresh”

Ishq-Khuda-Movie-Poster1

Apart from Sanam Marvi, the movie includes some powerful voices including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shazia Manzoor. The cast of the movie includes Ahsan Khan and Meera in lead roles and expected to generate a decent revenue once released.

While the Pakistani film industry is doing really good with movies like seedlings-Lamha, Chambaili and Bol, Lollywood industry still has got a lot of room for improvement.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 8 – Faiza’s games!

0

We saw another engaging episode this week with lots of twists and turns. The twists were expected but dramatic at the same time. Faiza is using the oldest trick in the book that is taking revenge not by hate but through love and her so called mentor is none other than Umair. He is taking his own revenge through Faiza and Faiza is not even aware of it. She is just a pawn in his big scheme of taking revenge from Maryam.

Her first step was to bring Afshah back to her house to win Zayaan and his family’s heart. She was unsure of this idea given by Umair but she pondered over it and came to the conclusion that it would be the best decision under these circumstances. She went to Zayaan’s house and shocked everyone, she asked Afshah to pack her things and come back with her to her house. Khurram was ready to leave Afshah for her sister’s sake but Faiza made a dramatic entry and gave a very emotional speech about her ultimate sacrifice for her brother and Khurram got all emotional and accepted Afshah.

Faiza definitely succeeded in making a place in everyone’s heart through this act of hers and on top of that she surprised everyone by welcoming Maryam wholeheartedly to her house. Everybody seemed shocked and confused by her behavior but Faiza only seemed interested in Zayaan’s reaction. Even when she came to take Afshah back she was looking at Zayaan and trying to judge his reaction. Maryam and Zayaan’s opinion about Faiza changed after this and Maryam went so far as to ask Zayaan why he left a girl like Faiza. Maryam is too trusting for her own good and this will create a lot of problems for her in the future!

Nusrat attitude towards Maryam has not changed a bit and it just keeps on getting worse day by day. Ajji came to Maryam’s house to make sure Maryam was happy in her house and Maryam was trying to make her believe that she is happy but just then her mother in law came and insulted Ajji very badly. Maryam’s lies were exposed and she could not even face Ajji. Ajji went back and lied to Maryam’s family that she looked happy in her house but Sultan could see that something was fishy as Ajji stopped him from visiting Maryam’s house by coming up with an excuse.

aa 4

Maryam still did not give up and made food for everyone but Nusrat refused to eat it and again hurled brutal and painful words at Maryam. She also did not let her take care of Afshah and insulted her again. After all these failed attempts to make a place in everyone’s heart, she gave up and Zayaan saw a defeated Maryam crying and all he could ask Maryam was to be patient. I believe to some extent Nusrat’s attitude is also justified. She blames Maryam for stealing her son from her and breaking her daughter’s house. I personally believe the cause of all these problems is Zayaan himself. He should have thought about his sister before taking such a big step and now there was no use of regretting his decision. Maryam got upset when he saw how helpless he was feeling and even gave him permission to marry Faiza. Maryam really needs to control her emotions and stop being so naïve!

Faiza will now take her next step towards her revenge with Umair’s help. I am curious to know what it will be! She has already managed to soften Zayaan attitude towards her and now she will come up some new plan to separate Maryam and Zayaan.

Let’s see what happens!

Kankar Episode 2 – Dilemmas Of Arranged Marriages

0

This episode focused on the dilemmas of arranged marriages in our society. I found the scene in which the rishta people want a “tour” of the girl’s house very relatable – sadly I must say that been there done that! When parents are getting their first girl or even boy married, they are absolutely clueless as to how to deal with such situations and end up saying yes to every foolish farmaish that comes their way! Some, who are in a position to do so, learn to tell such people off in a polite manner, those who do not have a choice sadly have to put up with such requests and much more! It is not just the boys’ family who wants to take a good look into the house of the girl they might be marrying their son to but I have even seen girls’ families desperately wanting to see the boy’s house even after their daughter has been married into the family. These are such wrong customs and they need to be shunned. Everything that we saw in today’s episode had surely been inspired from real life incidents and indeed was very relatable, like all other Umera Ahmed scripts. But the real question is that was it engaging enough? Sadly, I have to say that it wasn’t. The pace of the show is certainly slow and I have a feeling that this is the way it is going to be. All the plays that Aabiz raza has directed till now; Zard Mausam, Mujhe Roothne Na Dena and Maseeha, to name a few which I followed have been slow paced. Umera Ahmed’s plays as well have been stretched unnecessarily since Shehr-e-Zaat.

kankar2

Faiqa’s sister also faced a dilemma when it came to marrying her son with her sister’s daughter Arzoo. Sikandar is not the least bit interested in marriage or getting married to Arzoo for that matter. He wants to know Arzoo better before he makes a final decision and his mother doesn’t want no for an answer. Fahad Mustafa’s character seemed cold and distant. I expected the bond between or more like the chemistry between the mother and son to be more appealing and apparent but it wasn’t. Fahad Mustafa is definitely one of those male actors who need to wear less make up.

 kankar1

Kamal’s sister seems to be facing problems as well as far as her daughter’s (Uroosa Siddiqui) marriage is concerned. She is stuck with a long enagement with no hope in sight.  She doesn’t have the guts to ask the boy’s family what they want since she has been given a cold response once before too and cannot afford to break the engagemtn off too. Most certainly, all that we saw today was ghar ghar ki kahani. I am sure many many people could relate to it but will this ghar ghar ki kahani click with the audience in this day and age when there are a few other more intriguing and interesting dramas on air which keep you on the edge of the seat?

kankar 3

Kiran’s character is definitely the most likeable part of the play for me till now. She has a carefree attitude and I love her confidence. In the next episode, we may see Kiran and Sikandar meet for the first time since we saw Kiran begging Arzoo that she wanted to meet Sikandar. Kiran and Sikanadar seem poles apart already; Kiran is fun and carefree and Sikandar seems like a very toffee-nosed individual. Kiran and Arzoo are very close to one another and we saw Arzoo going against her mother’s will and giving Kiran the photographs of the engagement. The relationship between the three sisters is also another extremely relatable part of the show, which has been shown nicely. It is so good to see sisters who get along for a change and have a “normal relationship – no good sister versus bad one scenario.

kankar1

Overall, this episode was strictly okay. I agree with and could relate to every single happening in the play but I think the viewers will have to get used to the slow pace of the drama and accept it for what it is if they want to enjoy it. Expecting fireworks is just going to disappoint the viewers. Please share your opinions about this latest episode.

Imran- Bipasha’s ‘Creature’- The critical analysis!

0

It leaves me with a thought always when I think about the upcoming Bollywood Movie ‘Creature’, starring Imran Khan and Bipasha Basu in lead roles. While half of the country seems to enjoy the fact that a Pakistani Artist has actually gotten a measure role against a popular actress, there are people like me who are thinking with a broader perspective. It might be an assuming fact that Imran Abbas has really got one of the biggest breaks when it comes to comparing it with other Pakistani celebrities working in India, the question still lies that how come Bipasha Basu got ready for a movie which is likely to make any success. The only charm that the movie by now has offered to the audience is the 3D tag attached to it and a little bit of excitement of watching this couple on screen. I have been taking feedbacks from our readers on our social media page and people are acknowledging the reality that Bipasha seems much older than Imran Abbas.

The theme of the movie revolves around the ideas that were once shown in the movie ‘Jurassic park’, where the dinosaurs will now be replaced by an unusual ‘creature’.

Here are a few random clicks taken on the set of ‘Creature’, Have a look!

This surely is an achievement for Imran Abbas to get his hands on an Indian movie and working with an actress such as Bipasha Basu, but again, the career of Bipasha now shows a big question mark!

Ayesha Omer – Jack-Of-All-Trades!

0

Ayesha Omer’s most memorable role till now has to be Khubsurat from Bulbulay. She started her television career by hosting a show “Mere Bachpan ke Din” when she was very young. She worked as a VJ on MTV and Indus TV. Ayesha started her acting career from the sitcom “College Jeans”. Since then she has worked in many dramas. Ayesha Omer always wanted to be involved in performing arts. She is not just a host and an actor but also a singer and a model. Ayesha’s family is based in Lahore but in order to meet the requirements of her field, she has to live in Karachi. Ayesha Omer did her graduation from National College of Arts, Lahore and even when she was studying she was very much involved in performing arts, something behind the stage and at other times on the stage.

ayesha omer1

Ayesha feels that the fashion industry does not allow youngsters to come forward because there is a lot of lobbying and grouping. Probably due to this reason Ayesha Omer is not seen on the ramp very often now but prefers working on television and is now working towards building her singer career. Painting and singing is Ayesha Omer’s real passion. If given a choice she would much rather paint and sing than act, model or host.

ayesha omer2

Ayesha Omer comes across as a very down-to-earth person but one with a very strong personality. When asked during an interview how she felt about the success of her character and the fame it won for her in Bulbulay, she replied that it was teamwork and it would be wrong if she took the credit for it. Acting comes naturally to Ayesha, she is comfortable with comic and serious characters both.
Some people criticize Ayesha Omer for being confused because she cannot decide which field she wants to excel in. Ayesha Omer says that she likes to experiment with new things, she follows her heart and life is too short to not follow one’s heart’s desire. Therefore she believes in doing everything she wants to do. Ayesha also hosted a cooking show; so she has basically done everything that any other actress who has been in showbiz for a very long time has done.

ayesha omer3

Ayesha Omer has also designed clothes. Anoushey and Ayesha designed clothes for the clothing brand “Labels” which were liked by youngsters and were sold off very quickly. Ayesha would like to do more designing because she liked the response her designs got. Ayesha Omer’s mother has been a big inspiration in her life. She believes that she couldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for her mother.
Ayesha was also offered to work in Indian dramas but she declined this offer because she likes the appreciation Pakistani people have given her and would not let them down. She also doesn’t feel the need to work in Indian dramas. Ayesha Omer is definitely a jack of all trades, we wish her the very best.

Imran Abbas and Sadia Khan in ‘Abdullah’

0

There is good news for all the ‘Khuda Aur Muhabbat’ fans out there as Imran Abbas Naqvi and Sadia Khan will be seen again together on screen. The couple gained immense popularity through this hit show and their chemistry was the talk of the town. This time they will be seen together in a movie instead of a drama serial. ‘Abdullah’ is an upcoming Pakistani movie which is based on the incidents that happened in Quetta on 17th May, 2011. The rest of the cast includes names like Sajid Hassan, Hamid Sheikh And others. The movie is written, directed and produced by Hashim Nadeem. Hashim Nadeem is a popular writer who is also the writer of the show ‘Khuda Aur Muhabbat’ and this movie is also based on a novel written by him.

It is good to the see the initiative taken by people to revive the Pakistani film Industry. After Shoaib Mansoor, many producer and directors have followed his lead and invested in movies. We already saw brilliant movies like ‘Chambaili’ and ‘Ishq Khuda’ this year and the brilliant Tarang Telefilms which were a breath of fresh air for us viewers. The upcoming movie ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’ is one of the most hyped movies nowadays and ‘Abdullah’ is another addition to the list of movies that are worth looking forward to.

“Truth exists in the world just as flowers do in desert” The story of a truth untold!

This is the tagline of this movie and it seems pretty intriguing!

Here is the first look of Abdullah:

Turkish Dramas On Hum TV

0

The latest news is that Hum TV is going to be the next in line to air dubbed Turkish plays despite of all the criticism that the other channels that are airing the dramas are facing. It is a very disappointing development because Hum TV is one of the most favorite Pakistani channels. Hum TV has always promoted good Pakistani dramas. It has made a unique name for itself in all these years. It is very sad that Hum TV feels that they may lose the TRP race if they do not air Turkish dramas.

Even with all the wonderful dramas that are airing on Hum TV right now, they must feel that it is not enough. We may hear a lot of criticism against Turkish dramas but this move by Hum TV goes to prove that people do in fact follow these plays and even prefer them over some of the Pakistani plays.

It seems like the craze for Turkish plays is rising like an epidemic and all the fears and insecurities of our celebrities who were against these plays are turning out to be true.

Since its inception in 2005 Hum TV has worked very actively to revive the drama industry in Pakistan and has done a very good job of it too. From time to time some Indian shows were being aired on Hum TV but never has been a foreign drama aired on the channel. From time to time some Indian shows were being aired on Hum TV but never has been a foreign drama aired on the channel.

What do you think about this latest development? Do you think Hum TV is justified in taking this decision? Does this mean that no channel in Pakistan can be on the top until and unless it airs Turkish dramas? Please share your views.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 19 – Review

0

This week’s episode was a bit slow but entertaining at the same time. After watching this show week after week I have gotten used to its slow pace. ZQ’s supporting character was much needed in this show and I must say that she has done a marvelous job as Zoha. I am sick of seeing Sana Askari in the same negative roles in all her serials and her overpowering makeup in this show makes her looks extremely fake.

Zoha has finally done her work and taken her revenge from Maleeha. She kept provoking Maleeha by telling her that Shayan would never divorce Irfa and this caused Maleeha to get stubborn and she kept on pestering Shayan to leave Irfa. This did not go well with Shayan and their differences just kept on increasing. Zoha and Maleeha’s bet caused Maleeha to go to Irfa’s house and manipulate her through her words and make her sign the divorce papers. This worsened the situation between Shayan and her and Shayan finally made the best decision of his life and left Maleeha for good. But the sad part is that he also broke ties with Irfa when she retaliated to his absurd demands and refused to break her friendship with Bilal. Bilal has become a very integral part of her life and she can never forget that he was with her throughout the testing phases of her life and now when he is in need of a friend she just could not let him go.

Her affection towards Bilal was not acceptable to Shayan’s ego and he threatened to leave her for good and this time Irfa stood with her head held high and told him to go if he wants to. Shayan is definitely going to regret his hasty decision very soon. He did not even think about his sick daughter who needs him and left without a moment’s hesitation. Now what next? Irfa and Maleeha both are out of Shayan’s life. I am curious to know when and how his remorse phase would start!

One scene that I loved in this episode was when Zoha told Maleeha that she may have won the bet but she lost Shayan in the process. Zoya did not hide her happiness and told Maleeha on her face that history has repeated itself and like you stole my fiance from me, I separated your husband from you. She gloated on her victory and announced that she is getting married to Haider which shocked Maleeha. The shocked expression on Maleeha’s face was truly hilarious! All this time Maleeha was thinking that Zoha is after Shayan but in reality she was planning something completely different. Zoha’s character may be negative but she did a lot of good things like making Shayan realize Irfa’s true value and showing him Maleeha’s real face. Way to go Zoha!

Bilal got extremely upset when Minahil asked him for a divorce but Irfa helped Bilal get out of his extreme depression by making him realize his responsibilities towards all the people who needed him, and of course Rahima was on top of the list. I always love all the conversations between Bilal and Irfa as they are very heartwarming and this scene was one of them!

Now coming to the ironic part of the episode! I did not whether to be happy or sad when Shayan refused to go to Maleeha even after she tried to commit suicide. There was a time when he would have quickly rushed to her side but now he did not even bother when Adeel Farooqui called him to inform him about Maleeha’s critical condition.

One thing that I find extremely annoying when I am watching this serial is the loud background music which overpowers the dialogues and half the time I am unable to catch them! The editing department is to blame for this.

This show is finally reaching towards its climax and I am eagerly waiting to see what happens next!

Celebrities and Interviews

0

I love to read interviews of my favorite celebrities and really like to watch shows with celebrity interviews; it is one of my favorite hobbies because it gives me an insight into the mind of the artists that I admire. Sometimes, some interviews can be a complete eye opener and may change your opinion about a particular celebrity in some way. I think that a celebrity’s personal life is pretty much of his/her own business but at the same time the celebrities must and do work very hard to maintain a certain public image. Maintaining this public image would mean not saying things that will disappoint their fans; they do owe their fans that much don’t they? Here are some things that I read in some celebrities’ interviews which completely baffled and disappointed me as well. I am not here to judge anyone, I just want to share these lines from some of the celebrity interviews and want your opinion on it. Also, some celebrities have “standard Interviews’ in which they are more of the target!

Noman Ijaz is one of my most favorite actors; the thing I admire about this actor the most is that he is confident enough to experiment with new roles. Many of the youngsters nowadays usually stick to the same kind of roles but Noman Ijaz will always be seen doing something different. Noman Ijaz usually refrains from giving interviews and goes as far as saying “I want journalists to get this message through your interview that I do not want them to approach me. And what’s more I charge money for giving interviews.” Noman Ijaz said this in his interview to Dawn newspaper some years back. The lines surely seemed shocking to me, not only this but he also said
“My criterion for accepting any project is money. I am not interested in who the director or scriptwriter is. It is money and only money that determines which project to go for.” It does not end here in reply to one of the questions he also said, “I really wouldn’t mind doing a film in India if somebody offered me a role. But never in Pakistan as they are worse than the overflowing gutter.”

I have to say that I was terribly disappointed to read this interview. I expected Noman Ijaz to br slightly more responsible with his replies but I guess he is a blunt person by nature.

atifnoman

Atif Aslam earned a lot of fame in a very short period of time by working very hard and not giving up. Atif Aslam is a very talented singer, there is no denying that but sometimes it seems like he is obsessed with the opposite gender and most of his answers revolve around how his life has a changed vis-à-vis girls in his life after achieving stardom. I was reading one of his interviews from a couple of years back in which he mentioned how he had to stand in the sun and change buses to go to college. On hearing that the interviewer asked “But life has turned around for you”. And Atif’s answer was as follows “It has. It was always easy for me to go on a date before becoming a star. That has changed now. It has become very difficult for me. I have had a steady girlfriend for two to three years but not before that. I couldn’t handle it two years ago. I’m a people’s person now. In fact, I’m public property”. I am not sure where exactly does this answer fit in but I have heard many such replies from him in other interviews. He is married now and obviously things will change but you do expect something a lot different from a star.

Javeria and Saud are one couple whose interviews always have great shock value! Saud’s interest in other women seems to be the highlight of the interview or it has to come up. Many times if some other woman celebrity is invited to the same show, Saud may have had some “history” with her too. I saw one interview with Saud, Javeria and actress Leila in a show and it was very obvious that Javeria was very uncomfortable and there were indirect references by the host as well as Leila to the history that Saud and Leila share. Javeria and Saud are always put in a tough spot by the people who interview them. I find it almost insulting; I think they should lay down some rules before giving an interview or going in a show.

javeria saud

Bushar Ansari is a very talented artist; she has proved her mettle not just in acting but in so many other fields as well. But in her interviews sometimes she comes across as a little too confident; which is never a good thing. The way she talked about her upcoming play “Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley” and how confident she was that it would be the next big thing was actually disappointing. I think no matter how much success an artist get, people who are down to earth always appeal to you more.

Do you read interviews? Do you watch shows with celebrity interviews? Are there any celebrities whose interviews or something that they said in their interview was shocking for you? Please share your opinion.

It is becoming more like a trend that the two drama channels of the country are coming back2back with new projects, all capable of attracting a huge audience. Adding a new superhit to its win-list, ARY Digital will soon be bringing you a new drama serial Darmiyaan, Starring Sania Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui and Syra Yusuf.

The drama is a result of the join efforts made by the two writers Emran Hussain and Erum Aftab, while been directed by Shahid Shafa’at. It is produced by ” an Iron Line and HuzuProductons Play”, and the promos would soon go on air. It has been found that Syra Yusuf will be soon in a new avatar and doing a role she has never done before. It is also a fact that she would be seen on screen after a long time and it would be her first major drama after her marriage.

Watching Sania Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui sharing screen  together speaks much about the venture itself because the two of them have always given some real hits whenever seen together in any project. The drama still needs to be promoted on the social media sites before its promos go on air.

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 14 – Shocking Twists!

0

This week’s episode was full of shocks and twists that I had not been expecting. The unexpected blows left me open mouthed staring at the screen and thinking ‘Did this just happen?’ Sanam Jung left me stunned again with her absolutely marvelous performance especially in the scene where she is looking at Affan’s pictures, the whole family looked so perfect in those photos. The scene was so overwhelming that it brought tears to my eyes. Sanam Jung has come a long way and she just keeps on getting better.

 dm 3dm 4

Adeel’s opinion about Zoya got a notch higher when he saw how caring and understanding she was being in this hard time. I still cannot believe Adeel married Zoya all of a sudden. When I saw this scene in the promos, I had a feeling it would be Zoya’s dream but I was astounded to know that it was real. I was waiting till the very last minute for the dream to get over but then all of a sudden they got married and then we saw Zoya and Adeel enjoying themselves post marriage and I just felt like switching the channel. Technically, Adeel should have been angry after knowing Zoya’s real intentions but I was surprised to see just the opposite. After hearing her confession to her mother that she loved Adeel and will wait for him forever, he just went to her and proposed her! He sure got over Silah very soon. I must say, Zoya and Adeel are perfect for each other. I cannot wait till he gets to know the real face of Zoya! Her extra caring and understanding nature is just a mask which will come off very soon. He is surely going to regret his hasty decision then.

The situation just keeps on getting worse for Silah and I am glad she has Safeena with her in this hard time. I loved the way Safeena cared for Silah and tried her best to get her out of her depression. The shocking part was the unexpected news of Silah expecting again. This was even more shocking than Adeel and Zoya’s marriage. Silah does not know whether to be happy or sad about this news as she is still not over Affan’s death and Adeel is also no longer a part of her life.

The best part about the episode was that we got to see Ahmer again. His character has always been my favorite and from now on there will be more focus on his character. He was shocked to see Silah at the hospital and got even more shocked when he heard about all the tragedies that she had been through. Ahmer’s friendship is just what Silah needs in this hard time and I am sure he will help Silah to get back on her feet and will stand by her side throughout this difficult time. Silah is at first a bit reluctant to meet Ahmer because of Adeel accusations but when Safeena made her realize that Adeel’s opinions should not matter to her anymore, she realized her fault and was more open to Ahmer’s friendship from then on.

‘Woh To Kabka Rashta Badal Chuka Tha Per Ajeeb Baat Yeh Hai Ke Mein Usper Akhri Waqt Tak Bharosa Karti Rahi’

This is what Silah told Ahmer when he had come to meet her. Silah did trust Adeel till the very end even when he hit her she was the one who went and apologized. Adeel never deserved a loving and caring person like Silah.

It did not take much time for Adeel to start getting irritated by Zoya. He could not get along with someone like Silah who had such a calm and patient temperament then how can he get along with Zoya who is just the opposite, nagging and complaining about each and everything.

The preview for the next episode was again very shocking. Zoya asked Adeel to give Silah a divorce! Would Adeel agree and give Silah a divorce? I sure cannot wait for next week to find out.

Do share your opinion about the episode!

Adhoori Aurat Episode 7 – Review

0

The story is getting more and more interesting by the day and we got to see a lot of twist and turns in this episode. Khurram’s condition had left Zayaan shocked and his dilemma was perfectly depicted. On one hand, he had promised Maryam and her family that he would keep her happy at all cost and on the other hand, her sister’s future is at stake. The scene where he goes to Maryam while she is sleeping and she hold on to his hand was brilliantly directed and executed. I simple love the chemistry between these two!

aasd

Zayaan is left completely helpless and he resorts to the last option that he is left with. He meets Fazia and tries to reason with her. At one time, Zayaan loathed her mere presence but now he goes to her as he needs her help to get out of this situation. He clearly tells her that I can marry you under my family’s pressure but there would be no place for her between him and Maryam.

“Mein Tumse Shaadi Kersakhta Hun, Per Tumhara Ban Ker Nahi Rehsakta”

These words shocks Faiza and she could not help but ask what she lacks and why he dislikes her so much. Zayaan clearly tells her that he does not see his ideal life partner in her and he has already found his ideal in Maryam. Zayaan’s words cuts through her like a knife and she loses control over herself and ends up cutting her wrist. Maheen was absolutely spectacular in this scene. I never knew she could act so well! Her dialogue delivery and expressions have improved a lot and I am glad she was chosen to play Faiza’s role.

As expected, Khurram blamed Afshah for Faiza’s condition and the situation again worsened. I really feel bad for Afshah as she is stuck in this situation without having any fault. Khurram was about to give her a divorce when he heard about Afshah expecting and this saved her marriage. Let’s see if Khurram brings her back to the house.

Now the shocking part of the episode! Faiza’s doctor at the hospital turns out to be none other than Umair, Maryam’s ex fiancé. He turns out to be Faiza’s college friend and he even meets Maryam at the hospital and gets surprised to know that she had come to meet Faiza. He gets even more shocked when he hears that she was the reason for Faiza’s condition because in his view Maryam is an ordinary girl. I have a strong feeling Faiza and Umair are going to team up and take their revenge from Maryam and Zayaan!

Maryam went to meet Faiza because she just realized how much Faiza loved Zayaan and she was the one to come in between them unknowingly. She truly feels bad for Faiza and told her that if she could do something for you then she would have done it and Faiza asks her to leave Zayaan which leaves Maryam in shock. I personally think she made a wrong choice marrying Zayaan even after knowing the whole situation. She should have been more practical in her approach and now she is badly stuck in this complicated situation. How will she ever manage to make a place in everyone’s heart? The treatment of her in Zayaan’s house is getting worse by the day.

Faiza is not going to accept defeat easily and she will definitely come up with a new scheme. Faiza is acting unreasonably because she is stubborn and spoiled but what about Khurram and Mehnaz? At least they should talk some sense into her. There is no use marrying an already married man which is going to make her life even more miserable. I guess they cannot see anything beyond Faiza’s happiness and that is why they are fulfilling all her wishes blindly.

According to the promos, Maryam gives Zayaan permission to marry Faiza but will Zayaan marry her? Let’s see what is in store for us in the next episode!

Kankar Episode 1 – Class Differences

0

This first episode like most first episodes introduced us to the characters and to the general theme of the story. Guessing from everything that was shown in today’s episode one can safely say that the main theme of the play is going to be about class difference; status conscious family members who will never allow their less fortunate relatives into their world whole heartedly. The one thing that stood out for me in this first installment was Sanam Baloch’s acting; she is a very talented actress and breathes life into all her characters. She portrayed Kiran’s character perfectly in a way that instantly made me like her. Kiran is confident, practical, focused and straightforward but at the same time she is polite and loving. Kiran belongs to a lower middle class household but unlike her mother (Ismat Zaidi) and sister she does not dream of things that may be impossible in the real world. Kiran’s older sister Irim and her mother expected their rich relative Faiqa (Sabahat Bukhari) to ask for Irim’s hand for her son but Faiqa turns up with mithai at the doorstep announcing Shoaib’s engagement. I have to say that I have seen this happening quite a lot; the relatives who are not that well off but bring up their daughters well do expect their “richer” relatives to consider their daughters for their sons but the difference in status most often proves to be an obstacle. Faiqa prefers marrying her son in a family which is equally wealthy. Faiqa has close ties with her older sister (Laila Zuberi) and her daughter Arzoo is engaged to her sister’s son Sikandar as well.

kankar1

Kiran does not dream of getting married in a rich family but looks forward to studying further. She believes that husband and wife should have a relationship based on equality. She considers a relationship in which the wife has to listen to her husband alone equivalent to slavery. Kiran is definitely very enlightened and not negative or rude in any way. She has a very pleasant personality and has a special relationship with her father (Behroze Sabzwari). I warmed up to the father – daughter relationship instantly and am hoping that it would be one of those on-screen bonds which you remember for a long time. Kiran’s father does not have any expectations from Kamal (Shakeel), he goes to the extent of saying “yahoodi ka dil hai us mein”. Kiran’s mother worries sick for her daughters like any other mother but her father does not want to hear of it.

kankar 3

Kiran’s cousin Adnan ( Hasan Niazi) likes her but is probably not in the position to propose her because of his financial condition. Kiran, on the other hand does not seem to be interested in marriage at all.

kankar2

For me the highlight of this first episode had to be Kiran’s character and Sanam Baloch’s acting. Like all other Umera Ahmed’s plays, this play will also focus on social issues. Fahad Mustafa did not make an appearance in this first episode; I am looking forward to finding out more about him. Our heroine is very likeable and I want to know more about the hero. A first episode is too early to judge a play altogether so all I would like to say is that I am not exactly sold just yet. I have to add that the rich versus the poor plot has been done to death. Those of us who are following Mirat-ul-Uroos may also notice a great deal of similarity between the message Kankar is putting forward and the one MUU is giving. The play has been produced by Six Sigma Production and has been directed by Aabis Raza.  Did you watch this first episode? What are your views about it? Please share your opinions.

Farhat Ishtiaq’s Bin Roye Aansu coming soon on HUM TV

0

After the phenomenal success of “Humsafar”,  a joined chemistry of Farhat Ishtiaq and Hum TV will soon be getting on air on Hum TV.  Bin Roye Aansu is one of the best write ups and very close to the heart of Farhat Ishtiaq. It will be the second project that will be going on air with the collaboration of the writer and Humtv.

Been directed by Hassam Hussain, the upcoming drama enjoys a rich cast, starring Humayun Saeed, Mahira Khan, Armeena Rana Khan and Zeba Bakhtiyar. It is more than a news for Zeba’s fans to have her back on screen and this only fact also contributes largely in increasing the probability of this drama being a success. It was heard that it was Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Sanam Baloch, who were initially selected for the roles, however, according to the latest update on its official page, Fawad has been replaced by Humayun Saeed, while Armeena Khan will be playing the role that initially belonged to Sanam Baloch.

935086_193563854134616_1085231107_n

No doubts that the cast is enough to attract viewers but Humayun Saeed, somehow has lost his charm and people have welcomed his alternates open handedly. Mahira and Humayun also did a project together on ARY, “Niyat”, though it didn’t earn much of the respect as any other drama where Mahira was seen on screen. Armeena Khan, on the other hand,  has turned into an active artist in the industry after her drama “Shab-e-Arzoo ka Alam” where she is appreciated for her acting by majority of the viewers.

946891_193619694129032_1686384540_n

The drama is still on its initial stage and would soon be coming on Hum  TV this year. It would be the third major drama of Mahira on HUM TV.

945333_696346740391388_1514587918_n

Lets see how far the drama meets the expectations but the news of having Mahira back on screen is something!

Aun Zara Episode 01 – A Treat!

0

Ohkay, so this is what we call ‘setting a bar high’. The first episode was a treat to watch with a bit more of an insight into every character & for giving us a taste of what we’d be watching ahead. I absolutely enjoyed the beginning & I loved the Punjabi touch added to this, which made it more humorous to watch.

Aun is a pampered baby because he’s the only male child, grandchild & nephew of the whole family. I loved how he had to deal with all the pampering but gets frustrated too. He may want to run away from the routine of his life but all the time he does want to lean on his family whenever he thinks he can not handle the situation. Zara, on the other hand, belongs to an Army background where her whole life is disciplined because of her father. Her father is a person who likes things systematic but Zara does get bored with how her life is.

All the dialogues were written perfectly but a few really made me laugh. I loved how Aun had to spit just because his Daadi thought he had uttered something bad. & all other such incidents added more to it, the morning scene, morning drive, the office scene, the wedding scene & Aun’s call to his mother, the scene where everyone is waiting for him because he was riding a motorbike, the egg – these were the scenes which were done perfectly & were too amusing.

During all this hassle of his life, Aun does have a friend on whom he relies but sadly Aun is so innocent that he just follows the lead of his friend. Aun’s friend has done a great job because he really wants to do good to Aun but just because Aun has always been so pampered & could not make decisions for himself all his life, he blindly follows what his friends says. All the conversations between Aun & his friend were done really well & the best one was when they came to an agreement on how many kids they should have. Aun, all of a sudden plans to get married for the sole reason of getting away with the utmost attention & therefore, wants his family to think about it. After a bit of failed attempts his family does start thinking on this matter as well.

I loved how they have showed the mind-sets of people with different backgrounds, like Aun’s mother being an Urdu-speaker has different expectations & Daadi being a Punjabi wants something else for Aun. They have very subtly touched the matter but definitely not in a bad sense & people can very well relate to it.

The drama may be funny but it does have an emotional baggage to offer. We don’t know why Aun’s Pupho got divorced & where his father is. His mother is too busy in taking care of Aun & pampering him but does have some sadness with her. I just can not wait to see how the drama unfolds because for now & for sure I loved the starting of the drama.

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat – A True Artist

0

Anyone who watches Pakistani dramas appreciates and acknowledges the fact that Sarmad Sultan Khoosat is a very talented individual. He is not just a gifted director but also a very brilliant actor and a script writer as well. Sarmad Khoosat was born in a family where he was surrounded by artists. His mother worked with radio Pakistan, his father was a very famous television and film actor and even his grandfather had worked for the radio. One can say then that this inclination towards art was bound to be there. Sarmad Khoosat admits that he never thought that he was going to be associated with television in any way but that he wanted to be a doctor. He even took admission in a medical college but it didn’t’ quite work out. He ended up working with his father in his production house and that is from where the journey started.

sarmad

Sarmad Khoosat started his career with the comedy play “wrong number” but he was noticed by everyone when he played the famous role of Cheeku in the one-of-a-kind sitcom “Shashlick”. Sarmad never felt as good in front of the camera as he did behind the lens. He assisted Jawad Bashir on the set of “Shashlick” too although he was very young at that time but extremely eager to learn. In 2007 Sarmad Khoosat’s first play as a director went on air, it was written by Bano Qudsia and was titled “Piya Naam Ka Diya”. Since then Sarmad Khoosat has worked with the number one writers, producers and actors in the country. He has directed some outstanding plays like Pani Jaisa Pyar, Hamsafar, Shehr-e-Zaat and many more. Rumor has it that Sarmad has also written a script for a film and is very interested is making a movie for the mainstream cinema. Sarmad Khoosat believes in doing projects that are different from what we usually see on television but his hands are obviously tied because he has to work with what the writers have to offer. Sarmad wrote a script for Hasan Askari as well some years back but the movie could not make it to the cinemas and was stopped halfway because of the issues between the producer and director. If given a chance he’d love to do something entirely different and being a true artist he would want to serve his people in some way through his art.

main manto

Sarmad Khoost feels disappointed that the people who are writing and producing for the television as well as the cinema are following the same old story lines and are not willing to experiment with new ideas. This of course can frustrate someone who has so many new ideas to offer and kills the creativity in young people. Sarmad feels frustrated with the way things work in the industry often enough because he is honest to his work. He is not willing to give up though and will surely reach new heights. Sarmad Khoosat is not just a very talented person but also very down to earth and hardworking. It is sad that artists who have new ideas and want to experiment cannot do so because the producers only want projects that will “sell”. It is partially the fault of the viewers as well who do not warm up to new ideas and we are stuck in a rut.

Silvatein Episode 17 – Review!

0

I must say I am completely sick of this character Natasha & her scheming but on the other hand the dignity & grace of other characters is keeping me going on this drama.

When the episode began, I got overwhelmed during the conversation between mother & a son but sadly one thing was very disturbing that a mother on her death bed had to actually lie to her son that she was perfectly fine & the son bought that just because he’s such a chicken who can not utter a single word in front of his wife. Another disgusting thing was that Mr. Chicken came to Pakistan just because his wife allowed him. At that point, to be honest, I did not feel that Natasha would change a bit & I was expecting something bigger & worst to happen especially when the will was about to be disclosed & all thanks to her, she proved me right. All this while, we have seen every thing about this character that to expect anything good from her seems like a dream.

Rayyan has done every thing for Zeb & is getting equally in return too but his worry about Zeb’s behavior shows how considerate he actually is. He has seen Zeb when she was emotionally free & laid back but ever since she has started to take burden of others, she has become too serious. I have always loved seeing their bit & today’s was an amazing one too. Their conversation after their function & their discussion was absolutely amazing.

During the course of this drama, I kind of never understood Bilal’s silence & his patience on Natasha’s attitude but today something was revealed very clearly. Bilal is actually in an awe of getting a girl like Natasha as his wife & her continuous bickering & underestimation has left him baffled. He has lost a sense of dignity & has completely forgotten that he is the man in their relation. I totally hate it when after every conversation he is left speechless & then rubs his face in anguish.

Natasha is someone who just loves to make people around her awkward. To actually involve Mikaal in her flick was absurd. Mikaal, for sure has feelings for Zeb, that’s the reason he trusted what Natasha had said. Zeb took that surprise gracefully & actually had no idea what Natasha had planned for her. At that point, I was like notttt againnn because the thought crossed my mind that she might be recording their conversation in her mobile phone to use it as a trap for Zeb when she deems fit. But fortunately nothing of that sort happened but she made Zeb awkward in front of her parents too. Natasha thinks that it’s only Zeb who’d get affected while completely forgetting that her parents would get worried & ashamed too. I think Zeb is taking the sweet elder sis role a bit over-board because at this stunt of Natasha’s, Zeb should’ve done something at least in stead of taking all the blame on herself. I know she is trying hard to make things work but they’re rather getting out of hands.
.
The last scene of the episode was intense where everything was blurted out completely& honestly. I loved when Munize furiously asked Bilal that why was he still silent. Natasha has always been materialistic & is too cunning at such matters, considering her age. For now, I really hope that Bilal swoops in & takes things into his own hand or else I wouldn’t mind to see Rayyan or Zeb slapping Natasha hard on her face for her negativity & stupidity in all that she has done because honestly she deserves this.

Hope to hear from you all.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 18 – Shocking Revelations!

0

This week’s episode had a steady pace and we saw a lot of changes and surprising revelations. The reason why I watch this show week after week is the because of the brilliant acting by all the actors as well as the beautiful dialogues. The screenplay written by Maha Malik is definitely worth an applause. The dialogues have such deep meanings that you cannot help but love all of them!

I always had a strong feeling that Zoha was up to something. Well, now her intentions have been revealed. She had revenge on her mind since the very first day. The reason why she is getting so close to Shayan is to make Maleeha jealous and insecure. Shayan is just a pawn in her game; she is trying to demean Maleeha in Shayan’s eyes and by telling him about Maleeha’s past. She revealed to Shayan that Haider who was Millie’s ex husband was first her fiancé and Millie stole him from her. On one hand, she is instigating Millie that she should force Shayan to leave Irfa and on the other hand, she is praising Irfa in front of Shayan and making him realize that she is the perfect wife material and he should never think of leaving her.

I loved the way she made Shayan realize Irfa’s value and for the first time I saw Shayan being proud of Irfa. It was the first time he voiced the importance of Irfa in his life and he told Zoha that he can never even think of leaving Irfa because she was there during the struggling period of his life and is an integral part of his life. Millie came in his life when he already gotten fame and recognition. I love this dialogue that he spoke:

‘Jo Nakami Ko Bhool Jaye Usse Kamyabi Bhula Deti Hai’

Shayan again sees Bilal coming out of his house and gets furious at Irfa as he had clearly warned her to stay away from him. This time Irfa does not stay quiet and gives Shayan a good piece of her mind. She tells him that if he has all the freedom to do whatever he wants then she should also have the same freedom.

‘Meri Barabari Ki Aur Jo Kuch Mein Karta Ho Woh Tum Karne Ki Koshish Mat Karna’

This is what Shayan replies when Irfa asks him why is she the one who has all the restrictions in their relationship? According to Shayan he is fulfilling all his responsibilities and this irks Irfa the most. I love this new Irfa who is not crying over her fate but standing up for herself. It was about time she stood up for herself and her rights!

It is pretty evident that Shayan has no interest in Millie anymore. He is fed up of her behavior and barely speaks to her properly now. The ‘Woman repellent spray’ dialogue cracked me up big time! Shayan really needs one if you ask me! Millie does not hesitate to voice out her opinion about his and Zoha’s newfound friendship and this irritates him. The answer that Shayan gave to Maleeha when she told him not to think that she is a fool like Irfa brought a huge smile on my face.

‘Irfa Hona Fakhr Ki Baat Hai Aur Tum Irfa Jaisi Kabhi Nahi Hosakhti.’

Way to go Shayan! It’s about time you realized what a true gem Irfa is!

The shocking part was the scene in which Shayan admitted to Zoha that he has no intention of staying with Maleeha for long. He is in debt to Adeel Farooqui and he still needs him at this point of his career but once that need finishes he has no intention of staying with Maleeha. Shayan sure knows how to play games! It was a pretty shocking revelation and Maleeha overhearing their conversation was even more shocking. What will Millie do next? She will not stay quiet, that’s for sure!

So it’s now confirmed that Minahil has no intention of coming back to Bilal. She was rude to Irfa when she called Minahil to reason with her and tell her about Bilal’s condition. Minahil still did not change her decision and now she has decided to end her relationship with Bilal as she asked Bilal for a divorce. Now what is next for Bilal?

Let’s see what happens next!

The show that is replacing Zindagi Gulzar Hai on Fridays is Kankar, which is also based on Umera Ahmad’s novel. We will get to see Sanam Baloch on the screen after a while and her pairing with Fahad Mustafa is worth looking forward to. It is produced by Humayun Saeed and Shehzad Nasib and directed by Aabis Raza. The cast includes Fahad Mustafa, Sanam Baloch, Laila Zuberi, Behroz Sabbazwari, Sabhat Bukhari, Ismat Zaidi, Hasan Niazi, Humera Ali, Dia Mughal, Dia Shah, Maha Warsi, Uroosa Sidiqui.

Here is a short preview of the story:

Kankar is a story about a lively girl named Kiran (Sanam Baloch) who falls in love with Sikander (Fahad Mustafa). Shaishta, mother of Sikander, who belongs to a financially strong background is not in favor of this marriage but agrees under the pressure of her son. After marriage, Kiran who is already madly in love with Sikander finds out a completely different and unknown side of him and realizes that Sikander is completely different from what she had thought. This show will depict the marital problems that she faces and how she deals with them with her head held high.

For me, the highlight of the show is Sanam Baloch as she is one of my favorite actresses and since it is her comeback serial I cannot wait for it start! And the outstanding promos are like a cherry on top! The promos have made me extremely curious and interested in the show.

Adeel Hussain – Mystery Unveiled!

0

Adeel Hussain is one of the finest actors nowadays and has marked his presence in the industry with his outstanding performances in hit shows like Daam, Mera Naseeb, Mata-e-Jaan, and Mora Piya. He is also currently seen in shows like Silvatein and Jiya Na Jaye. Adeel has had the opportunity to work with the best there is in the industry and has had a very selective approach when it comes to choosing dramas which makes him stand out from the rest.

I am sure many of you must have noticed Adeel Hussain for the first time in the show Daam and thought that it was his first serial. Well, I certainly thought his first serial was Daam but I was in for a shock when I got to know that his first show was in the late 1990’s. He had made headlines for his performance in Zeba Bakhtiar’s ‘Aye Mere Pyar Ki Khushboo’ which was his first serial. He had performed with seasoned actors such as Faisal Qureshi, Badar Khalil and Shabbir Jaan and still managed to stand out because of his great performance.

He then became a part of the City FM 89’s breakfast show and worked there for a long time and made appearances on the screen from time to time in the form of advertisements, selective TV dramas, music videos, and tele-films like Duniya Goal Hai that ran in the Kara film festival. Adeel was not only interested in working on screen but also had an interest in the workings behind the camera. We only know Adeel as an actor but there is more to this guy than just acting. He is also interested in direction and has been assisting directors for a long time now so he has got a fair share of experience in direction too.

His first work as a director was a car commercial in 2008 for the HBL ‘Car to Car’ campaign and an unreleased brand entertainment project for the Telecom sector by the name of ‘Mera Mobile’ which he created and directed. He had also directed many documentaries like APWA (All Pakistan Women Association) which had turned out to be a beautiful documentary. He also made a documentary called ‘Bridged’ while he was shooting in New York for Mata-e-Jaan.

His talents and interests do not end here! He is also interested in writing, videography and photography. He likes to split his time between on screen work and his other interests and for those who don’t know he also has a visual content creation company called Vizor, which was made to showcase his existing photography, videography and directorial work as well as executing newer projects. He recently worked as a cinematographer in a documentary which was produced by Vizor Studios. This documentary was about the ‘Karachi United Football League’ which features children from slums of Pakistan who are being trained to play football. Talk about being multi talented!

When he entered the industry, he confessed that his parents were apprehensive and concerned about his future in the industry but he believed that he had a ‘vision’ at that time and he was sure that it would all add up and lead to something good. But now years later, I am sure they must be proud of their son’s wonderful achievements!

When asked about his costars in one of his interview he quickly named Amna Sheikh whom he had worked in three serials so far, ‘Amna and I always have a blast and we share a lot of laughs, respect and trust.“ Now we know why he has such amazing chemistry with her! He further adds onI also enjoyed working with Syra Yousuf in Mera Naseeb and Mira Sethi in Silvatein. He did not forget to praise Mehreen Jabbar who had directed two of his serials so far “Mehreen Jabbar is one director I enjoy working with. It is always fun as she is so experienced, focused and talented – its brings the whole experience up by so many notches”

adeel 2

On being asked about his most challenging project he replied “In TV, Mata e Jaan was quite challenging as I saw my character Ibad to be very complicated. Working with Mehreen Jabbar again meant putting extra effort and do my homework when it came to character subtext. She has a way of drawing that out of you, as a director. I’m very happy with the end result. I suspect I was loved the most in Daam as Junaid. Playing Faisal Ahmed in Mora Piya knocked the wind out of me! There was just too much grief in there.”

This 34 year old actor has won the hearts with not only his brilliant acting skills but also with his other multi faceted skills. I must confess that I am very impressed with all his work and I definitely hope we got to see more of his work in the future!

So what would you guys rate Adeel Hussain out of 10?

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 13 – Relations Falling Apart!

0

What an episode! It was the most heart breaking episode so far and I was in a shock mode for the first 10 minutes of the episode. I was just not prepared to see Affan dying! My heart went out for Silah and Adeel and I must say Sanam Jung was mind blowing. Her acting improves with each episode and she just made me cry in this episode with her realistic acting especially in the scene where she was looking at Affan’s clothes and toys. It was a very heart touching scene and I am sure most of you would have felt the same way!

As Silah reached the house she was confused as to why so many were gathered there. She then entered her house and was shocked to see Adeel crying and the scenario in front of her and then reality finally hit home and she loses consciousness… The variety of expressions Sanam gave in this scene was commendable. I could easily make out all her feelings through her expressions and I would like to applaud her for her brilliant performance.

f1cb0e92-7a23-4e1a-b089-1b1bb27b28c8wallpaper

I have always wondered what would make Silah leave Adeel as she is not the kind of person who would leave Adeel for some petty reason and I think Affan’s death is the only reason that could have led her to leave Adeel. Seeing Adeel roaming with Zoya while Affan was sick at home was the last straw for her. She blamed Adeel completely for his untimely death and left the house with a heavy heart. It was such an emotionally charged and intense scene. The way Silah swore that she would never forgive Adeel or forget what he did gave me goose bumps and what else can you expect from Adeel other than showing his extra big ego even at a time like this. Instead of stopping her and understanding her situation, he started blaming everything on her!

I thought I could not hate Zoya’s character anymore than I already do but I was wrong. I hated the way she was smiling and smirking while eavesdropping on Silah and Adeel’s fight. She had finally done her work and Silah was out of Adeel’s life and now she finally had her chance to be a part of Adeel’s life and she quickly went and consoled Adeel and in the process filed his ears against Silah all over again, and as always he believed her every word. According to Zoya, Silah left because she just wanted a reason and she loved him only till she met Ahmer! And the award for the stupidest person goes to… Adeel of course, who else?

I loved the way Safeena accepted Silah wholeheartedly when she appeared on her doorstep. She let go of all the past grudges and welcomed her with open arms. Thank god she did not turn out to be the typical step mother! She sympathized with Silah and gave her an ‘I told you so’ lecture which was expected and Silah just kept silent throughout. I had a feeling that Safeena was showing so much love because she had an ulterior motive but when she frankly admitted that she was not too happy about Silah inheriting all that Zamaan had because she thought Silah did not deserve it, my opinion changed. She also told her that she searched for her a lot and used to send letters to her house but she got informed that Silah have changed her house. Silah was shocked to hear this and told her that she never received any letter. How would she when all Zoya never let any letter reach her!

Zoya’s visit to Adeel’s house kept on increasing and even Adeel was irked to see her at his house all the time and told her not to come anymore but who can be a better actor than Zoya? She quickly went on her consoling mode and told Adeel that she understands his situation and knows that he is just taking out Silah’s anger on her. You can always count on Zoya to twist words to get the situation in her favor!

The preview for the next episode was beyond shocking! How can Adeel do such a thing? I just cannot believe he asked Zoya to marry him! But on the bright side, Ahmer is back and I am actually looking forward to see him in the next episode. Apart from the acting, the direction was outstanding! Shehzaad Kashmiri needs to take a bow! The combination of the superb acting, brilliant direction and perfect editing was just mind boggling!
