Promo of “Behadd” goes On-Air – Pictures revealed!

0

It is more than a pleasure to see the drama industry of Pakistan flourishing with a high pace, and the Hum Network is surely the leading contestant when it comes to giving credit for taking the industry somewhere where we see it now.

It can be seen that Moomal Productions has finally got its success ingredient in Fawad Khan and the team is coming up with consecutive hits one after another. Just after the success of Zindagi Gulzar hai, it is now a telefilm, “Behadd” that is expected to replace the current Zaroon craze with this new character Fawad will be playing against Nadia  Jamil and Sajjal Ali.

Been written by Umera Ahmed, directed by Asim Raza and produced by Momina  Duraid, the telefilm itself speaks about how amazing it will be. The story is about the fact that anything going beyond the normal standards leads to a disaster, whether it is tolerance or be an intense love. The story revolves around the three characters and is quite predictable too.

Enjoy its first official promo here!

Tarang Housefull Telefilms – An Overview

0

I have always been a big fan of telefilms, if they are made well, they provide perfect entertainment. The fact that the Tarang housefull telefilms were inspired by some of the old classics made me look forward to them and I had very high expectations from almost all these telefilms. Also, all these telefilms had some very big names attached to them, so one couldn’t help but expect a masterpiece. I have to say though that the telefilms I had very high expectations from did not seem up to the mark and others which I thought may not deliver were so much better than my expectations. Here is an overview of all the telefilms, please feel free to share your opinion.

Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun:

Writer: Vasay Chaudhry
Director: Nadeem Baig
Cast: Meekal, Ayesha Khan, Atiqa Odhu, Bushra Ansari, Saba Hameed, Usman Peerzada and others.

Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun was very refreshing in every way. It was truly wonderful to see Meekaal do something completely different from what he does usually. Not only that he completely stole the show because of his remarkable acting. All the actors senior and junior shared amazing chemistry. Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hun is a romantic comedy with quite a few decent and very intelligent jokes to its credit. Vasay Chaudhry’s script is flawless, Nadeem Baig did a spectacular job with the direction and everyone is very well suited for their roles. The song Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun has been sung brilliantly and has been shot very well too. Aysha Khan looks great and the lead pair clicked with me instantly, unlike some of the other telefilms where I wasn’t too sure if the lead pair really had any real chemistry.

atmjh
The telefilm was not just funny but very engaging as well, it kept me glued right from the get go and gave me nothing to complaint about. It was refreshing to see Saba Hameed in a different role as well, Bushra Ansari was her brilliant self as usual and Atiqa Udho fit in perfectly in her character. It isn’t very easy for a relatively new artist to shine amongst such big stars but Meekaal managed to do that almost effortlessly.
If you want to watch something that will give you some good laughs then ATMJH is a must watch for you. It has all the right ingredients in the right proportions and gives you nothing to complaint about.

Anjuman:

Writer: Zanjabeel Shah
Director: Yasir Nawaz
Cast: Imran Abbass, Sara Loren, Ally Khan, Iffat Umar, Sohai Abro and others.

Anjuman was the second telefilm to go on air. I must confess that I wasn’t actually looking forward to watching it and there were no high expectations from the telefilm as well, mainly because of the way it was promoted. I wasn’t much interested in wathcing “the item number of the year” because a good telefilm really should have more to its credit. The only reason I ended up watching Anjuman was because I had nothing better to do. Once I started watching it, there was no forwarding or stopping in between. Anjuman was perfect acting wise; all the actors were simply brilliant. The story was nothing special but some of the dialogues were very touching and had the kind of depth which one can only wish for most of the times. All the characters were superbly etched out and the songs were beautifully sung. Sara Loren, Ally Khan, Iffat Rahim and Sohai Abro were the stars of the show and unfortunately Imran Abbas was the weakest link. The beauty of this film lies in its characterization, acting and definitely the direction. The director turned an ordinary (almost unbelievable) story into something that keeps you glued to your TV screens. Sunidhi Chauhan added a new life to the old songs “Aap Dil Ki Anjuman Mein” and “Dil Dhadkay”.

anjuman
If you missed Anjuman for some reason, I suggest that you give it a go. It will take you in a world of its own and you will love the ending. I also like and appreciate the message that was put forward through this movie. It is definitely a must-watch.

Dil Mera Dhadkhan Teri:

Writer: Mohammad Ahmed
Director: Mehreen Jabbar
Cast: Sarwat Gillani, Sanam Saeed, Ahsan Khan, Shamim Hilali and others.

Let me start by saying that I had enormous expectations from this telefilm in particular because I expected nothing short of a masterpiece from a talented writer like Muhammad Ahmed, a gifted director like Mehreen Jabbar and a stellar cast. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed after watching the telefilm because the story lacked depth and everything seemed rushed. Sarwat Gillani and Ahsan Khan lacked the on-screen chemistry needed to make me relate to their undying love. Sanam Saeed on the other hand made her presence felt and stood out more than anyone else in the telefilm. The song “Rakh Diya Qadmo Mie Dil Nazrana” had a lot of energy but It came and went and I failed to understand the context.

dmdt
The “twists and turns” in the telefilm weren’t exactly exciting, in fact I kept on waiting for the time when the telefilm will completely keep me hooked but it never came. The characters were not very well established at all; we know that Beenish is the villain and Saira is the victim but that is that. I did not fall in love with Saira’s character; yes she was very cute but that was it. I did not hate Beenish’s character maybe because Sanam Saeed was so well suited for the role or perhaps I just wasn’t given enough time to warm up to the characters or the story. In short DMDT did not work for me at all because I failed to connect to the characters.

Devar Bhabi:

Writer, Director and Producer: Syed Noor
Cast: Saima, Sami Khan, Sadia Khan, Saud and others.

I was expecting this telefilm to be very filmi because it has been written, directed and produced by Syed Noor. I have never watched a Pakistani commercial movie so I had no idea what kind of an actress Saima was but I assumed she would be great since she ruled over the industry for a very long time; surely one can’t do that without some good talent (so I thought)!! I wasn’t exactly blown away by Saima’s performance partially because her character had not been etched out properly. The bhabi should have come across as someone very graceful who commanded immediate respect from the audience but that did not happen. All the latkas and jhatkas, the body language and the dialogues as well were over the top and did not fit in at all. I can think of many television actresses who could have done justice to this role.

devar bhabi
Sami Khan’s performance was mediocre to say the least, even with all the emotional dialogues, the bhabi dewar jodi failed to move me. Until now, this had to be the telefilm with most number of songs but the songs had an old feel to them. They were very melodious no doubt but they didn’t seem like the 2013 version of a 1960s movie. I found it difficult to sit through most of them because they were too slow and the presentation wasn’t very modern too. Sadia Khan; the heroine, a new actress, didn’t have much of a role to play but whatever acting she didn’t wasn’t actually impressive. Saud and Saima jodi didn’t click with me at all as well.

Overall, this was yet another disappointing telefilm, I have definitely watched better telefilms on many other channels and some with much stronger messages, much more emotions and much better script too

Armaan:

Writer: Vasay Chaudhry
Director: Anjum Shehzad
Cast: Fawad Khan, Amina Sheikh, Vasay Chaudhry and others.

This was another one of those telefilms that I was anxiously looking forward to primarily because Fawad Khan was playing the lead. I had my serious apprehensions about Amina Sheikh playing the lead with Fawad Khan because I wondered if the two will look good on-screen together. Nonetheless, I was totally willing to be pleasantly surprised. Honestly speaking I felt like there was hardly any chemistry between Fawad Khan and Amina Sheikh. Both of them performed brilliantly, there is no denying that but the sizzling chemistry that makes you go awww was completely missing.

armaan
The story was very interesting and had a lot of potential but the direction wasn’t very impressive and the production values were low. Some of the locations were exactly the same as Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hum, which was rather disappointing considering that it would have been quite easy for the director and producer to use new locations. I like the comical element in Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hun much more than in Armaan; some of the jokes were not very clean! One can easily make people laugh without crossing the line of decency and it is always better that way. Armaan wasn’t exactly a masterpiece, in fact I couldn’t even watch it one sitting. Definitely not a must watch on my list but if you love Fawad Khan – go for it!

I haven’t watched Aaina yet, will definitely add what I think about it once I am done watching it…the promos looked very promising. Did you watch the Tarang Housefull telefilms? Please share your opinion about them.

It was only few hours back that one of the most happening dramas of the year, ‘Zindagi Gulzar hai’ has finally reached its end, leaving the viewers still touched with its wonderful script and amazing acting been done by all the actors who were a part of it. While celebrating the success of the show, the two-hour dedicated live show further brought the team closer to the fans  where we saw almost all the characters sharing their experiences together. It was only yesterday during the live show that viewers finally got a glimpse of Fawad Khan’s next project on Hum TV.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 6 Review – Schemes and Plans!

0

‘Now the real story begins!’ This is what came to mind while watching the episode. A lot of things happened in this episode and I was again hooked throughout.

The episode started off with Zayaan’s mother calling him and asking him to reach home urgently as she had a ‘shocking’ news in store for him. He quickly went home and took Maryam along with him and got to know that Khurram had taken his revenge from Afshah and had thrown her out of the house. This shocked him and he quickly went to Khurram’s house to reason with him but to no avail. Khurram was not ready to take Afshah back in his house and showed Zayaan the door. Zayaan left his house with a heavy heart and finally realized the gravity of the situation. He had become selfish and had taken such a big step without even thinking about his sister and now he could not bare to see his sister in such a condition. He realized that he should have said no to Faiza’s proposal when he was about to marry Maryam. Well, its too late to dwell over the past Zayaan! You should have thought about this before marrying Maryam and bringing her to your house all of a sudden.

Faiza may have been humiliated and heart broken but she is not the kind of person who forgets her insult so easily. Instead of drowning in emotions, she quickly thought of a revenge plan and executed it with finesse. She played her game with her mind and went to meet Afshah and showed sympathy towards her and promised to convince her brother to bring her back. Even Zayaan was impressed when he saw that she was ready to help Afshah and this was the first time that he spoke politely to her. Her smirk when Zayaan called out her name and then her change of expressions were brilliantly executed and captured.

Maryam clearly did not expect Zayaan’s mother to be the evil ‘mother in law’ types. She was more or less horrified to see their behaviour towards her. Afshah and her mother both blamed Maryam for Afshah’s condition and their attitude towards her was very harsh especially Zayaan’s mothers’. She kicked Maryam out of her house and while Maryam screamed and begged to let her in, she did not show an ounce of pity towards her. After that Maryam made sure she did not cross path with either her sister in law or mother in law. However, Zayaan asked her to try to interact with him because she would need to make place in their hearts herself. They then went for shopping for the whole family and Maryam brought gifts for everyone. Afshah took the gift and in courtesy said a good word or two but Zayaan’s mother attitude did not change one bit. She threw the gift and refused to take it! I do not think she is going to mellow down anytime soon. Maryam is in for a rough time ahead!

Afshah managed to convince her mother to attend Zayaan and Maryam’s wedding reception by telling her that if they don’t go then they might end up losing their control over Zayaan and if they want to stay in his good books then it is better to attend the function. Zayaan’s mother agreed half heartedly to be a part of the function but her annoyance and disapproval was clearly written on her face during the whole function and she just could not stand anyone praising Maryam. Afshah was now relieved and had calmed down because Faiza had given her reassurance and she knew that Khurram would never say no to anything that Faiza says. She is yet to know that she is just a pawn in Faiza’s big scheme!

Faiza plays her final card by sending Khurram with a proposal. If Zayaan wants Afshah to go back to her house then he needs to make Faiza her second wife! Everybody was shocked at this proposal and the episode ended at this cliff hanger.

Will Zayaan agree to marry Faiza? The preview for the next episode seems pretty confusing. Let’s see what happens next in the show!

Zindagi Gulzar Hai – The Finale

The best thing about his finale was that I felt for Kashaf, although I thought that I will never feel for her again. The wonderful aspect of the episode was ke Kashf ki zindagi bhi ab gulzar hai – how it happened? Solely because of Zaroon’s positive influence in her life and of course because love can do the impossible; something that I strongly believe in. Deep down all Kashaf wanted was a man in her life who will convince her of his love and make her believe that there is a God up there who has some wonderful things in store for ungrateful people like Kashaf too. I wish though that this change was shown to us in bits and pieces in the past few episodes and not “narrated” to the viewers in the last few minutes of the final episode. There were definitely a lot of loose ends and overall this last episode wasn’t exactly satisfying.

zaroon kashaf

I am sure many people out there, like me, were expecting this episode to be as much about addressing Zaroon’s double standards as it was going to be about Kashaf being grateful and realizing how wrong she had been all these years. Zaroon’s double standards were completely left unaddressed. No one laid down the rules this time around so I am quite unsure whether it is okay for Zaroon to meet Asmara or not!! And if he can meet his ex fiancé then can Kashaf keep things from him too?

I agree that most of the minor issues between couples do not turn into bigger misunderstandings if there is good communication between the two. The later part of the episode clearly suggested that Zaroon and Kashaf have bridged the communication gap that existed between the two. Kashaf takes a step forward, swallows her pride and calls Zaroon, primarily because she does not want her daughters to grow up without a father and she does not want to lead the kind of life her mother lead. This may have been the main reason for Kashaf calling Zaroon but it was quite evident that despite of their immature statements and acts (changing the names on the phones) these two cannot live without each other, they make each other complete and this is most certainly the most apt reason for any two people to be together. Zaroon does say in the end that he had the perfect life; a home, wife and wonderful kids, which made me wonder that he always loved Kashaf and had faith in her but there were still misunderstandings between the two often enough  – does that mean that all along it was Kashaf alone who needed to change her ways? Yes, I agree Kashaf needed to change, we all agree on that but to say that Zaroon was perfect all along would be so wrong too. But then it is also true that marriage is not the union of a perfect man with a perfect woman but in our society it is the union of an imperfect man and a perfect woman:)

zaroon kashaf

I think there was absolutely no need to show the meeting between Zaroon and Asmara. It just went to show that Zaroon did not feel any remorse at all and the entire conversation made no sense to me. Maybe, I missed out on something; it’ll be nice if someone who found this scene relevant in any way to explain to me please that why it was there at all. Mehreen Raheel needs to stop playing the “friend” who is always there to lend a shoulder to cry on whenever Fawad Khan is having issues with his leading ladies; first Dastaan, then Ashk and now Zindagi Gulzar Hai. I hope it ends here! Another scene, which I thought was prolonged for no reason was the HR presentation one, the presentation went on for too long, at least that is how I felt.

asmara

Today’s episode had some beautiful dialogues and to me the main message of this finale was as Rafia pointed out “Mohabat mei koi hisab nahi hota, koi ana nahi hoti”. Zaroon comes flying to Kashaf when she calls him, he forgets everything because despite of all their minor problems between them he knows that he wants Kashaf in his life. That was the favorite scene of tonight’s episode for me when Zaroon surprises Kashaf and Kashaf thinks it is a dream – surely dreams do come true. Kashaf finally tells Zaroon how much she loves him because she knows now how important it is to express one’s feelings, another lesson very well learned.

zaroon

Zindagi Gulzar Hai was perfect in terms of good acting right from day one; all the actors did a commendable job and the person who chose these actors for the respective roles deserves a lot of appreciation. The concept behind Zindagi Gulzar Hai was great but somehow it was lost mainly due to flawed direction and bad editing. If Zindagi Gulzar Hai was an 18 – 20 episodes serial which focused on no more than a couple of tracks and issues, it would have been perfect. Like all Umera Ahmed plays it had some memorable dialogues to its credit. But the best thing about this whole show was the discussions we all had here. Last but not the least, a big thank you from the bottom of my heart, to all those who followed the reviews every week and took time out to comment. The Zindagi Gulzar Hai experience wouldn’t have been the same without all of you, I am honestly going to miss our discussions more than anything else.

Fawad Khan’s Upcoming Drama Serial “Numm”

0

Many of Fawad Khan’s fans have been waiting to see him in a completely different role for a little while now. Well it seems like all of their wishes are coming true because Fawad Khan plays a role different from what he usually does in his upcoming drama serial “Numm”. The drama boasts of a stellar cast like Sania Saeed and Usman Peerzada. Sania Saeed and Kanza Wayne play the lead opposite Fawad Khan. The promos look very interesting and it looks like the story is going to be about a feudal family. Fawad Khan has not changed his look for the play, maybe because he plays an Oxford graduate who cannot break away from his roots no matter how much he wants to. He does not have the typical look of a feudal lord or someone who belongs to such a family but the promos suggest that he is pretty much part of the system. The promos are very detailed and give the name of every character separately. We will get to see Farah Khan on screen after some time in a big project. The play has been written by Maira Sajid and directed by Ahsan Talish but there are no details regarding which channel it will be airing on. There promos definitely have a very mysterious look and you want to find out more about the play. Here are the promos, watch them and tell us what you think about them.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai finally to reach its end tonight

0

The drama that somehow survived following the charm of the legendary Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar hai will finally reach its end this day. The drama was based on 26 episodes and the last episode will be airing tonight. The story is based on Umera  Ahmed’s novel Zindagi Gulzar hai and holds a significance that it is been directed by Mrs. Sultana Siddiqui herself. Enjoying a rich cast, the drama has been appreciated by the audience where Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed are been given special credit to make this drama a success.

179115_599815563377074_2042280022_n

The story revolved around the two characters who differed completely and had gone through different experiences throughout their lives that turned them into the people they were. Being slightly different from the novel, the drama seems to end on a different note, perhaps to keep up the mystery unrevealed and make it worth watching. Throughout the week, social media was all over loaded with the excitement that was found among the followers who were talking about their expectations with the ending of this drama,

Despite of the fact that Fawad’s acting is kind of pretty same as that of in Humsafar, and Sanam’s role as a rude-strong woman  as it had been in mera Naseeb, both of them have landed up with a unique chemistry on screen, probably because of the fact that is how they naturally good at.

972055_318139514982658_1739941514_n

The last episode that will be going on air tonight at 8pm has already created a hype among the viewers and soon after the drama would reach its end, a special live show will be followed up to celebrate the success of this drama where you will see all of the major celebrities that added their best in making this drama simply a hit!

485559_600303743328256_2028595840_n

It is still unbelievable that the journey we started together and the Gulzar Hai craze we have been sharing on this platform will soon be ending in a few hours. The drama replacing Zindagi Gulzar hai is most likely to be “Kankar” which is also an interesting project, starring Sanam Baloch and Fahad Mustafa. Although the project is still under the banner of “Coming Soon”, it is expected to make its place on Fridays, after all, Fridays and saturdays are important days for HUM TV.

Share your views about the last episode of Zindagi Gulzar hai and also mention how would you like to see it!

Actors Who Are Very Conscious About Their Looks

0

Acting is just as much about talent as it is about looks. If you have the good looks to go with great acting then it can be a lethal combination. Talent of course comes before looks. If someone looks very pretty on screen but cannot act, they will never make it to the top or may not even make it very far. We have quite a few examples of actors in the industry who are good looking but they cannot act very well. This article is about those actors who are very talented but also equally conscious about their looks; they have always put in extra effort to look good no matter what role they are playing.
There are some scenes that demand less make up and sometimes it seems very strange that these actors still wear a lot of make up even in those scenes. Other than that, the make up and the accessories can sometimes be very distracting. There are many other actors for whom looks do not matter at all and they have the confidence to come with barely any make up on screen if that is what a particular scene or drama demands. Here is a list of actors who I think find it very difficult to come on screen without a lot of grooming.

Ayesha Khan:

Ayesha Khan has talent, I am not denying that but ever since she entered the industry she has been very conscious about her looks. Even when playing characters which are not glamorous at all for example like the one she played in “Paarsa”, she still wears a lot of make up all the time. Her character maybe going through the worst time but the make up will not be mellowed down.

                               aishaaisha1aisha2

Sarwat Gillani:

Sarwat Gillani is another very gifted artist who is very versatile; we always get to see her in different roles in different plays. When Sarwat started her career, she was least bothered about her looks and most often we saw her with barely any make up on screen, so much so that she was even comfortable with her non blow dried hair. But lately Sarwat Gillani has been very conscious about her looks. The change in her looks started by the serial Mata-e-Jaan and ever since that I have never seen her without make up except for only one scene in Mata-e-Jaan. Not to mention that the curly hair look seems to be ancient history now. I remember even when the naani passes away in the play Mata-e-Jaan and everyone is in the hospital, Haniya (Sarwat Gillani) wears a lot of jewelry and make up.

                                       sarwatzoyahaniya

Mahnoor Baloch:

I have never seen Mahnoor in a character in which she plays the seedhi sadhi larki without any glamor. Yes, she did play one such role in Talafi but I guess one cannot separate glamor and Mahnoor. It maybe that it comes naturally to her and she looks stylish no matter what. But a real actor is one who can truly change his or her looks according to the demand of the character.

                                 +mahnoormahnoormahnoor1

Mohib Mirza:

There was a time when Mohib was very comfortable with his curls and his wheatish complexion but not anymore. Mohib has dead straight hair now and the foundation is a constant, not to mention the kajol and everything else. Mohib Mirza is another one of those very good actors, who cannot compromise on their looks no matter what role they are playing,

                          mohib1mohib2

Imran Abbas:

Imran Abbass has always been very conscious about his looks; something that anyone can guess. Except for a very few plays, he has always made sure that his hair looks its best and he is also one of those male actors who wear a lot of make up.

                           imran abbasia2ia

Mehreen Raheel:

How is it possible that we talk about actors who put their looks before anything else and Mehreen Raheel is left out of the discussion? Mehreen Raheal has always played characters that are glamorous and even if they are not she makes them glamorous with her look; Dastaan for instance. I have never seen Mehreen wearing a simple shalwar kameez on screen with little make up.

                                    mehreen1mehreen2mehreen

This list is not meant to discourage anyone, all of these actors are very talented and they have proved their versatility too time and again but sometimes it is good to see the artists not depending so much on their looks especially at times when they seem out of place.

Dhani- A revival of Pakistan’s Theatre Industry!

0

Being a country with lots of potential, Pakistan is now known for its entertainment industry all over the world when we talk about the drama industry specifically.  However, if you go back to the era say 1980-90s’, you would find despite of few resources available, the country enjoyed the phenomenon dramas like Dhoop Kinare, Tanhaiyaan, Nangay Pao, Anch, Ankahee, etc and it was at that time only that even our film industry came up with decent projects that are still cherished by the viewers. Similarly, the stage had its own values and I still remember my father watching the “Umar Sharif Show” in between the movies we used to get rented.  It seemed more like a dilemma that after touching the peaks of success, both, the film and the theatre lost the respect and charisma they once had, dramas being constant more or less.

Now that we say, and in fact see that our drama industry has evolved like anything and are getting appreciations from the world outside, it was our film industry and the theatre that needed a miracle to happen for them and wonders, Theatre seems to have its break, all thanks to NAPA and our drama celebrities.

The OLD theatres

download (1) hqdefault

After having great performing artists like Moin Akhtar  and Omar Shareef,  the stage of Pakistan turned into a vulgar platform where the women of the nation(A Muslim nation) were seen selling their dignity and morality for the sake of  few returns. The auditoriums that were once filled with decent audience were replaced by the people of a particular class who became the soul buyers of items like “O gujra we”, and unpredictable moves made by stage performers like Nargis. It was only few days ago that I actually saw the video of a theatre, been recommended by a friend and trust me, it was more than a shame.

It is obvious that no father would take his daughter to watch this and as said above, our stage industry became a curse and a symbol of indecency, leading to another door of entertainment been shut for the people of Pakistan.

The revival!

Though there can be a difference of opinion but all I believe is the fact that the credit that goes to the revival of Pakistan’s entertainment industry, is all limited to the celebrities who are now showing their incredible talent on screen, say Faisal Qureshi, Amina Sheikh, Saba Qamar, Shan, Fawad Khan, Fahad Mustafa, Humayun Saeed, Mahira, Sanam Saeed, Ayesha Khan, Sanam Baloch and other young actors who have not only contributed in upgrading the drama, but have also played their best when a movie was given to them.  Although a minute one, yet there is some change enough noticeable in our film industry and there are movies like Bol, Khuda K Liye, Ramchand Pakistan, Chambaili, Lamha-The seedlings, etc where again, the same faces have taken up the control and had come up with better results. However, Lollywood still has got a long way to make.

Fortunate enough, the theatre of Pakistan seems to revive once again where we see our talented actors who have actually studied acting and arts, emerging on the platform.

Dhani-The Theatre!

shan-sanam-sarwat-670

Been written by Imrana Maqsood and Amra Alam, produced by Shan, Dhani is a story of two characters Ruqaiyya and Rashida which are been adopted by two of my favorite actresses, Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani. This is a 15 days based theatre been performed in Arts Council, and it is for the  first time in my life that I have actually seen how a  stage show can be and should be. From the acting to the costumes, from the story to the props, everything about this stage show is exceptionally great and thanks to media and the people, who are playing their part well, the show is getting a respectable coverage as well.

551895-Dhaani-1369062709-286-640x480

Though, I had not personally seen the show yet, it has been recommended by two friends of mine that it is a must-watch show. It is, however, more than a treat to see an immense development in the field which was left neglected by the cream of the society, further taking it into darkness.

551895-Dhaani-1369062679-893-640x480

Try watching Dhani which would reach its end on May 31st, plan your schedules to see the first brick been laid towards the revival of the Pakistani Theatre!

Self-Confidence – Where It Comes From And How Important It Is

0

What does self-confidence mean? It simply means to be confident of one’s abilities and to have faith in one’s self. Let me make it clear at the start that self confidence and over confidence are two completely different things. Over-confidence would mean expecting more from yourself than you are capable of or thinking that you are above everyone else for nor real reason. Self-confidence is positive and over confidence can harm a person in many ways.

feature image

Self-confidence is very important because people who are self-confident find it easier to sail through life in general. They know themselves better than others who may not be self-confident, they do not get influenced by other’s opinions easily, they find it easier to solve their problems and most importantly they have realistic expectations. When these expectations are not met, they still continue having faith that they will be able to achieve their goals next time. Self-confidence gives rise to a positive attitude towards everything. A person with no self-confidence, on the other hand will be very worried about the opinions of others and most often would rely on the approval of people around him in order to feel happy. People who are not self-confident feel a greater need to make people happy and those who are confident can choose more wisely who deserves to be pleased and who doesn’t.

self confidence

Are some people born confident? The answer is no. Self confidence is definitely not something that is handed over to people by nature or genes but it is something that is gradually acquired, the circumstances in which a person is brought up also determine how confident that person would be. The surroundings in which a person is brought up matters a lot in determine if he or she will grow up to be a confident individual or not. If the parents and the siblings continuously keep on telling you that you are not good or capable enough, you will automatically start believing it and that is the thinking that will continue to guide you through all your life and make things very difficult. On the other side a positive environment in the house will make a person more confident and he or she will grow up thinking that they are capable enough to deal with things themselves. Later on, the school environment makes all the difference – a strict teacher and class fellows who bully you can never help in any way. Children who get bullied at school are likely to be less confident than those who had a good group of friends in school. There are also those children who may not have a cordial environment in school but the atmosphere at home is good enough. They share things with their parents and the parents give the children confidence to deal with these difficult situations.

Parents who keep on telling children what to do and what not to do continuously and do not let them be independent may think that they are doing their children a favor but that is usually not the case. As early as possible, the parents should show faith in their kids and tell them that they are as capable of doing things for themselves as is anyone else. That would develop self-confidence in children and they will learn what they are capable of doing.

self confidence 1

Self confidence helps people at every step of the way – at school, in college, at work and most of all in interacting will all sorts of people on daily basis. The question is that, if someone did not get those ideal circumstances to develop as a confident person, what should they do? Are they going to lack confidence all their lives? No that is not true. One can always change oneself by following few simple methods.

1. If you judge yourself by other people’s standards, stop doing that right away. A lot of people think that it is very important how others feel about them and that makes them lose confidence in themselves because it is almost impossible to please everyone all the time. Evaluate your own actions and do not let other people decide what you are doing right or wrong. Stop looking for other people’s approval.

2. Stop comparing yourself with others. Sometimes the root cause of lack of confidence is that we excessively compare ourselves with others. Most often a person who lacks confidence thinks that those around him are better than him in more ways than one – it could be looks, intelligence, status or anything at all. Do not compare your looks or circumstances with others.

3. Do things which you think you can’t do. It can be anything – like having your say in a public gathering. Yes, that can be a big step for someone who does not have confidence enough to speak in public. Put your guards down and speak out in a where you most often would sit quietly. Doing things that you are afraid to do will help you boost your confidence, if you do so without worrying about the consequences.

4. Help your friends with their problems. You may not be able to do much with your life but it is always easy to help other people out with their problems. It is something that make you feel useful and at the same time will make you more confident about your own self.

5. Stop worrying about how you look. I agree that looking good contributes to feeling confident but it is not true for someone who feels that they can never look good enough, no matter what. Many people do not feel confident because they feel they are not good looking enough. I say, stop worrying about your looks and concentrate on what you believe is the best in you and gradually you will be more confident about your looks too.

Love Yourself. Last but not the least, learn to love yourself. Put yourself first in your life, stop doubting yourself and see your good points.

Are you a confident person? Do you think that self confidence is the key to success in every sphere of life? What do you do to boost your confidence?

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 17 – A New Character

0

I am glad the show finally made some progress this week. The story moved forward and we got to see the introduction of a new character in the show. The episode started off with an upset Shayan who seemed haunted by Irfa’s words as guilt for not being there to financially support his family was eating him inside. However, all his guilt and burden on his conscience vanished when he saw a very drunk Bilal in his house in the middle of the night! He became furious at the sight before him when he entered his house. He immediately kicked Bilal out and raised a question on Irfa’s character. ‘Look who’s talking!’ This is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Shayan doubting Irfa. Irfa seemed stunned and humiliated at his accusation and his cruel words when he clearly told her that even if he does not give her his time or love, she is not supposed to seek it from anyone else!

“Bohat Rehm Dil Hun Mein Tumhare Liyeah, Aur Utna Hee Hee Rehm Bhi”

The scene was emotionally charged and intense yet beautiful at the same time. Mohib was outstanding in the scene and Saba was just as brilliant!

Bilal has gone completely out of his senses after Minahil had left him. He has some serious mood swings and has even started to drink! At times, he is polite and kind to Irfa and sometimes he gets extremely rude to her. Irfa went to Bilal’s house to apologize for Shayan’s behavior and before she could say anything he apologized for his inappropriate behavior the other day. However, his politeness was short lived as he rudely told Irfa not to bring food to his house as he is not interested in her social service! Irfa got upset by his words for the first time and refused to take his help from then on. However, he again excused himself the next time they met but this time Irfa was not ready to let it go that easily and he had to persuade her to let him help her.

The highlight of the episode was the introduction of a new character Zoha, who happens to be Millie’s first cousin. She had come to visit Millie and her father for a short time along with her son. She was very shocked to hear that Millie had gotten married to Shayan who seemed like an average guy with more or less no personality and she openly voiced her opinion to Maleeha who seemed irked by her words. It was pretty evident that they had never gotten along since childhood. They left no chance to taunt each other in one way or the other!

However, it did not take much long for Zoha’s view to change about Shayan. They clearly bonded over a cup of tea and opened up to each other. Zoha seemed impressed by his work while Shayan seemed impressed by her. He could not help but notice how different she and Maleeha were from each other. It did not take much time for their friendship to blossom when they saw each other again at the gallery. Shayan would never leave a chance to spend some time with a beautiful woman and they both ended up in the café where Bilal and Irfa were also present. The confrontation was shocking for both the parties and if eyes could kill then Bilal would have been dead there and then by the look Shayan gave him. Bilal quickly got the signal and dropped Irfa home and refused her offer for lunch. Zoha also noticed that something was not right and Shayan opened up to her and told her about her first wife which shocked Zoha even more.

It seems like Shayan is going to get bored by Maleeha too very soon and of course, Zoha would be the next person on his list! Maleeha can sense that something is brewing between the two and she will try her best to keep them away from each other. Let’s see what is awaiting us in the next episode!

Till Next Week!

Making of the Tarang Telefilm ‘Aaina’

0

Just a month or so ago, Saba Qamar was seen in Faysal Qureshi’s morning show and they both expressed their wish to work together sometime. It seems like their wish to work together was heard by Sarmad Khoosat who happens to be their mutual friend and he casted them together for the remake of the movie ‘Aaina’ as we had earlier reported. Faysal Qureshi seems enthusiastic about his upcoming project and has continuously been posting pictures from the set of ‘Aaina’. The promos have gone on air and they have managed to capture the interest of many as Saba and Faysal’s chemistry is very apparent even in the promos

Here is a small song teaser of the telefilm:

“Mera Naseeb” to air on an Indian Channel!

0

Pakistan’s drama industry has evolved significantly well over the last 10 years, making the country stand among the countries that are known for their quality in the world of entertainment. If you are following the series of remakes of Pakistani old movies, you would surely agree that there is a day soon expected when we would see our Lollywood industry flourishing as well. While we see the Turkish dramas running on our  local channels, it is more than a treat to find that even our dramas are now been watched by people all over the world and there are some Indian channels actually that are showing our tradition, our culture and our ideologies, also giving the credit.

It was humsafar that laid the foundation of this trend which never happened in the history of Pakistani entertainment where a pakistani show has been run on an Indian channel. Wonders, there was a time when the Pakistani audience went all nuts with the Indian drama craze, but now things seem viceversa.

Just after the successful airing of Humsafar on Rishtey TV, It is now Mera Naseeb which will be aired on the channel. The Indian audience seems anxious about the project and the  promo is already on air. Mera Naseeb is a Pakistani drama that went on air on HUM TV starring Syra Yusuf, Sanam Saeed, Adeel Hussain, Samina Peerzada, Rubina Ashraf, Bushra Ansari and many other names that contributed in making the drama a hit.

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 12 – A Heart-wrenching Episode!

0

This week’s episode was one of the best so far in my view. It had all the elements to make us sit on the edge of our seats. There was one twist after the other which kept me hooked throughout. The main focus of the episode was Silah finally realizing Zoya’s true intentions and trying her best to get Zoya out of their lives.

The episode started off with Adeel’s birthday and Silah brought a cake for him like she does every year. It reminded me of the episode where she brings a gift and cake for Adeel on his birthday last year and both of them along with Adeel’s mother celebrated his birthday. Wonderful times, weren’t they? Well, this year when she reached home she found that Zoya had already brought a cake for Adeel and then Zoya came along all dressed up and Adeel and Zoya both cut the cake while she was sidelined and ignored. This was the last straw for Silah and she openly showed her anger and dislike towards Zoya after this.

dmm 2

Silah’s attitude towards Zoya completely changed after this as she had finally realized what Zoya had been up to all this time and she had been too dense to sense it. She clearly asked her why she did not tell her that she took the money from her for Adeel’s birthday gift. Zoya was surprised and shocked at her question and tried to explain unsuccessfully. Zoya did not leave this golden chance to fill Adeel’s ears against Silah and she told him that Silah was upset that she brought a gift for him and this was not the end of her rant of course! She instigated him against Silah and said that she is from a big family and she treats you like her sole possession and has no respect for you and how he should have married someone of his own status. You can always depend on Zoya to twist word! I was completely seething throughout this scene and what made me angrier was that Adeel believed every word that Zoya said.

Silah then took the decision to get a new maid for Affan but Adeel was not happy about her decision and refused to allow her to replace Zoya with a maid. Silah completely lost control of her anger when she complained about Affan’s health and Adeel said that she is just trying to find a reason to blame Zoya. She finally told him that Zoya had been taking money from her from the very first day and what shocked me the most was that Adeel did not believe her! She then tried to reveal Zoya’s true intention to Adeel and in return got slapped by Adeel!

What happens next? Well, as expected Silah was the one who went and apologized to Adeel for her behavior and she even apologized to Zoya! I could not believe it when she went to Zoya and apologized for being rude to her and Zoya was pretending to be extremely upset by her. How pathetic! But I was glad to see that Adeel’s behavior towards her improved after this and both seemed concerned about Affan’s health. Silah also decided to leave her job which was the root cause of all her problems in the first place.

Zoya did not seem happy about Silah’s decision to leave her job when she heard it from Adeel and told Adeel that he should have stopped her. Adeel did not have much to say about this as he was concerned about Affan’s health which had been deteriorating for a while now. He made the biggest mistake by leaving Affan in the care of Zoya’s mother who seemed least concerned about the sick child.

The best episode of the scene was when Silah called Zoya and her mother picked up the phone and she heard Affan crying in the background. Just then she saw Adeel with Zoya on the bike and realized that Zoya was not there to take care of Affan. This made her panic even more as she already had this gut feeling that something was not right when she had called Adeel and he had told her that he was out to get Affan’s reports. The scene where she gets out of her car and runs to her house was brilliantly directed and Sanam Jung was too brilliant for words in this scene. Her acting completely stole my heart!

dil muzter 1

I really hope nothing happens to Affan when she reaches home. They ended the episode on a cliff hanger and now I cannot wait for the next episode. The preview for the next episode seems interesting as Silah will finally leave her house and go back to her old house. One thing that I found highly amusing in this episode was the Indian music playing in the background. It ruined the charm of a very intense scene!

There are few of the celebrities who have been struggling since a long time to earn recognition on screen in Pakistan and Ayesha Omer is one of them. It is now that Ayesha has turned into a known versatile actress, having her hands full of offers. What might sound shocking to you is the fact that the actress has turned down many offers from the neighboring country!

Ayesha revealed that she was offered a role from an Indian drama production but she declined the offer as to her, it’s her country that has given her the real fame and recognition.

‘Aunn Zara’ to go on-air from May 25th!

0

What makes a channel hit is the quality of content been aired on it and most importantly, the celebrities that are seen on screen. After many years of trying really bad to survive in a highly competitive market, A-Plus,  a local channel has something spicy to attract some viewership finally.

“Aun Zaara” is an upcoming venture of the channel, featuring Maya Ali, Osman Khalid Butt, Sabrin Habsani , Hina Bayat and Nasreen Qureshi. Been produced by MNM productions, the serial is written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Haissem Hussain(director of Dastan,Durr-e-Shehwar), who himself is an added ingredient to support the possible success of this serial.

734396_502013879836176_527730166_n

The story of the serial revolves around the plot where the husband wants to seek his wife’s attention but the wife fails in keeping her husband happy, though she proves herself as an ideal daughter-in-law for his family. Osman Khaled will be seen in a  role of a rich, spoiled guy, which would be a new shade of his acting skills.

The drama will go on air from My 25th,
Stay tuned,

Zindagi Gulzar Hai Episode 25 – The Confrontation

This episode started off on a very positive note and I really did not see all the fireworks coming. Zaroon and Kashaf’s conversation about good parenting, sharing and not talking about problems was very mature and Zaroon deserved the credit for it completely. He wanted to listen to Kashaf’s problems and do something for her but Kashaf is still too used to solving her problems herself and won’t allow Zaroon to do so for her. The whole “sharing” conversation actually seemed ironic later on in more ways than one! Kashaf was so sure that Zaroon won’t hide anything from her ever …why would she expect that by the way if she believed in leading a “secret life” herself! Does Kashaf have double standards too? Okay that was a joke, lets not even go there!

episode 25episode 25 1

Of course we all knew that there was going to be a confrontation between the two but I had no idea it was going to be so intense and fiery. Sanam Saeed and Fawad Khan both were brilliant in that particular scene and the timing was perfect. Kashaf said everything to Zaroon that she should have said and Zaroon also came out with everything that had been weighing on his mind till now. The confrontation could have been even better if the same issue of “why did I ever get married to you in the first place” did not pop up and Kashaf did not accuse Zaroon of having an affair directly. Kashaf did prove today that she really is too emotional and too insecure for her own good. Zaroon’s reaction to the Osama proposal now seems much less unreasonable considering what Kashaf did today. The accusation just went to prove that deep inside Kashaf still feels the same way about Zaroon as she did years back and had never really learned to trust him fully. Yes Zaroon is a hypocrite, he has double standards but surely a wife should know her husband better. My thoughts are based on what we have seen till now, in the next episode it seems like Zaroon is actually going to be talking to Asmara about his marital problems (Fawad Khan Stop doing that! First Madiha, now Asmara!). That of course is something very very wrong, So, I may have something completely different to say after watching the next episode. I am all for Kashaf walking out on Zaroon but only to teach him a lesson and to make him realize how wrong he was with his double standards, not because she thought he was cheating on her.

episode 24

Everything that happened in the past few episodes went to show that Kashaf was still in the process of trusting Zaroon without any reservations, so this new revelation came as a rude shock. Kashaf may have walked away from Zaroon but her reaction to the “divorce nightmare” went to show that she was not ready to leave Zaroon. It is obviously not that easy to walk out of a relationship and Kashaf realizes that now.

episode 24 2

The most satisfying aspect of today’s episode had to be the way Rafia refused help from Murtaza. Not only this, but Rafia also feels for Murtaza because he managed to ruin his life with his own two hands. She feels she has managed to make the most out of her life whereas Murtaza completely lost everything. I loved the way Rafia explained to Kashaf how she had won and Murtaza was left with nothing. This whole time Rafia was being “polite” to Murtaza only because she felt sorry for him and not because she wanted recognition from him. Today, after so many days I felt the same way about Rafia’s character as I used to in the beginning episodes; absolutely loved the positivity of her thoughts and the way she looks at things.

rafiamurtaza

This episode proved to be very engaging and intense – I guess we all deserved it too! This was a great episode in terms of acting and the direction was excellent too. The only problem I have with the show is ke Kashaf ko shukar ki philosophy abhi tuk samajh nahi aye – wasn’t this shikway se shukar tuk ka safar? It seems like Zaroon and Kashaf’s problems will not be resolved in the next episode…how many more to go?

Adhoori Aurat Episode 5 – Fast Paced and Brilliant!

0

I am glad that we finally got to see a fast paced and extremely entertaining episode this week. It kept me hooked throughout and that does not happen often. I usually lose interest after a few minutes and skim through the rest of the episode to get an idea of what happened. The first 15 minutes were mainly focused on Maryam’s family contemplating and speculating whether to agree to Zayaan’s proposal or not. I am glad that they showed this because it would not make any sense if they agreed to the proposal wholeheartedly despite knowing that Zayaan’s family is not in favor of the marriage.

Zayaan had clearly told Maryam’s family that his mother is not happy with his marriage to Maryam as she wants him to marry someone else and she would not be present in his wedding either. He tried to convince them by giving them assurance that he would keep Maryam happy no matter what the circumstances are. Zareena was the only person in the whole family who was keen to get Maryam married to Zayaan but the rest were being more practical and thinking about Maryam’s future in Zayaan’s house.

Maryam’s father and her brother were not in favor of her marriage to Zayaan but when they heard Mariam’s opinion on the marriage, they also agreed. It was very apparent that Sultan was still not in favor of the marriage. Zareena was the happiest to hear this and she immediately Zayaan to give him the good news. I personally liked the way Maryam’s father clearly gave her a fair picture of what the circumstances would be once she marries Zayaan. She would face a lot of difficulties and would need to work really hard to make a place in that house and once she gets married, there would be no tuning back. Maryam’s final words, however, convinced him that she is up for the challenge:

“Ap Mujhe Per Yaqeen Ker Sakhte Hai, Mein Har Haal Mein Nibhaongi’

I personally think it was wrong of Zayaan to agree to his marriage with Faiza and then take his proposal to Maryam’s house at the same time. He should have said no to the marriage when Maryam agreed to get married to him but he remained silent and let all the arrangement for his marriage to happen. He was not right to break Faiza’s heart and dreams in such a cruel manner. He was being pressurized, I agree but he should have had enough sense not to create such a big mess! He should have at least thought about Afshah and how her life would be affected by his decision. It was very selfish on Zayaan’s part to keep his family in the dark and get married to Maryam and bring her to his house all of a sudden and shock everyone.

The scene in which he brings Maryam to his house after his Nikkah was too dramatic! He confidently came inside the house with a scared Maryam in tow and that too in the middle of the proceedings of his Dholki. He managed to shock everyone to the core and later his mother gave him a fair piece of her mind. Maryam had acted very brave before but his mother’s reaction shook her and she got extremely upset. However, Zayaan managed to console her and gave her the assurance that his mother would calm down very soon and accept her. It was one of my favorite scenes of the episode!

1df4ccd0-0d73-4f47-b0ca-764a48c90bf3wallpaper

I knew Khurram would not remain silent after what happened with his sister and he did the only thing that was in his hand in the current situation and that is to leave Afshah. He kicked her out of his house and told her not to come back! I always knew something like this would happen as Khurram has always been very sensitive whenever it comes to Faiza.

I am waiting to know what will happen next! The preview for the next episode seemed pretty interesting. I must say, Maheen Rizvi was brilliant today as Faiza. The scene where she breaks down in front of the mirror was just brilliant! The role suits her perfectly! I do not think I need to say anything about Faisal Qureshi, I can never find anything wrong with him. He can easily fit into any character very easily. Ayeza was also good but Maheen stood out more in this episode.

So did you guys like the episode?

Mirat-ul-Uroos Episode 27 – Review

This latest episode had nothing new to offer and I think that it is about time that Mirat-ul-Uroos came to an end! The dialogues and the happenings are getting very repetitive and there isn’t much to look forward to. The story picked up momentum in the previous few episodes but now we are at a standstill. I think the viewers know very well now that Ayza is fazool kharch so there is no point in repeating it over and over again since they have touched upon all the different aspects of her fazool kharch nature.

Faraan decided to take a stand against the engagement function and his reaction was not taken well by anyone. Even his father thought that there was nothing wrong with the idea of having a function but Faraan rightly believes that one thing leads to another so it was better that there was no confusion regarding his opinion on the issue. Akbari retaliated by leaving Nasir’s house and moving in with Ayza – I am waiting to find out how Hammad will react to this decision. Ayza is expecting again and making the most of it! Hammad’s conversation with his parents about him not being able to give kharcha and his father’s reaction had to be the best part of the episode. Indeed, some things cannot be bought with money!

Ayza and Akbari like always were on the same page as far as the engagement celebrations were concerned and Ayza even had the guts to talk to Ayza about the issue. I really liked the way Aima told Ayza off in a very apt way, she was right; surely Ayza should not be worried about keeping ties with family and all since she has done everything in her power to keep Hammad away from his own family. Hammad is not a child of course and he is just as much at fault as is Ayza. If he cannot understand what his parents are going through because of his selfish attitude then it would be wrong to expect Ayza to look out for his parents. Hammad does not agree with anything Ayza has to say but he still does not have the guts to stand up to her and not just that, he also follows his lead like he doesn’t have a mind of his own.

Faraan should get engaged and finally married to Hamna now; they will actually make a good match since they think on the same lines. When and how that is going to happen, I am waiting to find out and also I am wondering if Amna will be comfortable with the idea. She did say to Aima that she did not want her son to get married to a girl who was divorced. Aima’s biggest concern right now is to get her son in a good school and Askari believes that he shouldn’t necessarily go to a big school. Aima did not disagree with her but it seemed like she wanted to put him in a good school. I hope this “issue” is not dragged further like the car! This was the 27th episode and I have started wondering now, how many more to go? Did you watch this episode? Do you think it is time to wrap things up. Why are our dramas stretched unnecessarily? Doesn’t anyone out there care about what the viewers want?

Silvatein Episode 15 – Review.

0

Well I must say that Natasha’s repetitive nuisance is getting tedious. I hope to see some change in her may be equal to an ounce but some change in her please.

All this while the only thing that comes as a breath of fresh air of Zeb & Rayaan. Their growing chemistry & their relation is something appeasing. I absolutely love how they both are complimenting each other. I feel that this drama offers such chemistry between the leads which is far better than those few over-rated dramas. This drama, due to the plot may not have gotten the following which it deserves but once you get to know the characters, this is one good serial on-air & I’m glad I am not missing it at all.

All this while I kept on smiling whenever I saw Zeb & Rayaan together. I loved, I loved, I loved their kitchen scene & their confessions a lot. Rayaan is being extra cautious because he doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes which he thinks he committed while being married to Mahjabeen. & Zeb on the other hand is being cautious as she lost Mikaal because she was being head-strong. For now & for good Zeb is trying to be submissive & forgiving & they both are actually enjoying the benefits of being together just because they tried to make some changes after learning from their bad experiences. All the dialogues that Rayaan said to her came out of respect for her & of all the things he said to her the best one was pointing out why she was blaming herself for everything related to Natasha or how she was acting.

Another thing worth mentioning here was Rayaan’s utmost attention to Zeb & the annoying string attached to her as Natasha. He was being tolerant & ignored whatever Natasha blurted at Zeb’s face in front of her whole family. He wanted to take things in his hands & even tried to dictate Zeb at how she should handle the situation but when Zeb wanted to take over he backed out easily after understanding his wife’s point of view. This shows that he actually holds Zeb really close to his heart & will let her do anything that she deems fit.

I must say Bilal’s submissiveness & Natasha’s dominance is getting a bit boring now. This couple makes things look stagnant. Just when I see them I feel things have stopped & they have lowered the pace of the whole serial a couple of notches. I am seriously getting bored at Bilal now.

I know Bilal is an ideal guy who’d make any girl happy but being submissive doesn’t mean you’re playing your part completely & responsibly. I hate to see Natasha pushing all the wrong buttons & still walking with her head held high all the time. I loved how Rayaan summarized easily that Bilal is the one who bought the situation to this level & now he should handle it. He was so right.

One more thing was revealed about Bilal that he’s such a baby himself. He felt running away after a heated argument was the best way to escape a situation. At that point when Natasha was being chummy with him – I felt finally she has had a change of heart or may be a little but she was actually using the absence of her Jeth & Jethani to brain feed Bilal openly against his & her own sisters. I really hate to see Natasha use Bilal as a stooge & I hate to see him act like such a rain-soaked puppy who has lost his way & is ready to follow anyone blindly. I at first, felt that Bilal was such a perfect guy but ever since Rayaan’s character has jumped in, that feeling of mine has subsided completely.

I hope to see some changes & some progress in their story or else if they’re erased from the whole scene I can continue watching Zeb & Rayaan without a doubt. Similarly, I feel that the scene of Munize’s ban on entering her brother’s home is getting a bit too stretched now, they should either solve it or if not, just leave it at that. There’s no point in reminding us about what Munize’s feeling or is going through in each & every episode. Her character is another confused one because at one point she gets upset & on the other she is all praises for Zeb. By her frowning face & her phone calls, her character is at the verge of making people grow out of her as well.

Well I’m loving the serial in some bits & pieces but these riddles & puzzles are getting hard to handle. I hope I never get to see Natasha again. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Imran Abbas and His Stroke of Bad Luck!

0

Imran Abbas Naqvi is one of the finest young actors of recent times and has been in the industry for a long time now. He is popular for his striking good looks accompanied by his brilliant acting. He started his career as a model and turned into a Television actor later on. He initial plays include Umrao Jaan Ada, Love Stories and popular plays directed by Sultana Siddiqui like Qismat Ke Sitaray and Jannat. However, he came in the limelight and won the hearts of millions through his spectacular performance in Khuda aur Muhabbat, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishaan, Akhbari Asghari, and Mere Paas Paas Sequel. He is also seen in the show Dil-e-Muztar which is currently on air on Hum TV and was recently seen in the Tarang telefilm Anjuman opposite Sara Loren.

Like many other Pakistani actors, Imran Abbas has been trying for a long time to get into Bollywood. He has come close to signing many films but nothing really worked out in the past few years. However, he finally signed Anthony D’Souza’s film opposite Akshay Kumar called ‘Naam Hai Boss’ but bad luck played its part again and Imran lost the role as he violated the terms of contract.

Apparently, producer Ashwin Varde had signed Imran on an exclusive contract with his company. The deal prohibited the newbie from getting involved with any other film. “But Imran unknowingly auditioned for another project starring one of the big Khans. That irked the makers, who have been sponsoring Imran’s training, accommodation and other expenses all this while. After the breach of contract, Imran was dropped from the film. After the debacle, Imran immediately departed for Pakistan. He came back dejected and disappointed by the misfortune and signed Momina Duraid’s show Dil-e-Muztar and we saw him back on screen after a long time.

A friend of Imran stated: “Imran didn’t sign up for any film. If he had, the makers would have had all the right to fire him. But he only auditioned. I don’t understand how any contract can stop you from auditioning for random films.”

It was highly unfortunate for Imran to miss out on such a big opportunity. However, this was not the end of his bad luck. Apparently, he had been offered the Indian movie ‘Aashiqui 2’ produced by the Bhatt camp which he had declined. Though, the reason for not opting for this movie is not yet clear as we do not know whether he declined to do the role or if he could not do the movie as he had already signed a movie contract.

Aashiqui 2 had surprisingly turned out to be a SUPER blockbuster of the year 2013. It has earned 62 crores in India in just 17 days and 3 crores in overseas. It has got outstanding reviews and its music has become a rage all over. Imran Abbas highly regrets declining the movie as he posted on his twitter:

He was seen appreciating the movie and congratulated the makers on the success of Aashiqui 2 as he twitted to Mahesh Bhatt:

Well, this has turned out to be the biggest stroke of bad luck of his life as the leads of the movie, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor has become superstars overnight!

But now after a series of unfortunate events, he is finally making his debut with actor Bipasha Basu in a film titled “Creature” being produced by Bhushan Kumar and directed by Vikram Bhatt. Imran who was in Mumbai recently spoke to Times of India and said, “Yes it is true that I have signed the movie “Creature” where I shall act with Bipasha Basu. The shooting dates are yet to be finalized. I was in Mumbai for the final discussion and shall be back again for the shooting of the movie very soon.”

He had recently finished shooting for Dil-e-Muztar and is now heading off to Mumbai soon to start the shooting of his new movie according to his new tweet:

We wish the best of luck to Imran Abbas for his upcoming movie and hope that nothing ill meets his way this time!

Are Our Dramas Getting Too Serious?

0

The week just started and like every other week I am looking forward to watching the “few dramas” I watch on weekly basis. I have to admit that there was a time when I completely stopped watching dramas primarily because nothing appealed to me anymore and I got addicted to Star world since one can’t do without television of course….well I can’t for sure!! Star world had some very entertaining shows to offer, some used to make me sad and lots more that cheered me up. When my kids were old enough to notice what I was watching on television and started asking questions, I decided that Star World wasn’t exactly a family channel and slowly started resorting to watching Pakistani drama channels. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that things had changed a great deal since the last time I watched a drama channel; there were a lot of good dramas on air and now I can’t do without my prime time shows in particular.

Most of the times I cannot watch dramas on television except for the weekends, because I need to get the kids in bed at that time. So, most often I catch the dramas online and since dramasonline most often uploads those plays that go on air in prime time so they are always the ones I get hooked to and look forward to every week. Watching these plays is my favorite pastime once my kids go to bed. Now lately, I have started feeling that watching these dramas is no longer light entertainment but it is very heavy duty indeed. There is hardly a drama during the week which is a light play with a good story that will prove to be engaging as well. Here is what I watch throughout the week, let me know if I am missing out on any dramas that will not make me sad for a change.

Rehai

I watch Rehaii on Mondays; there is no denying the fact that it is a very good play that conveys all the right messages. It does not only highlight the hardships faced by women in our society but also gives solutions. The acting by all the actors is super; it has been written very well and directed superbly also. For the past few weeks I was enjoying Rehaii because things were looking up for the oppressed women in the play but this week’s episode brought in more problems for them and I was yet again left feeling for them and all the other women like them in our society. Yes, the play made me sad; in fact I found it difficult to sleep after watching it!!

ullu baraye farokht naiApart from watching Rehaii on Monday, I am also hooked to Nanhii…I know double dose of sadness!! It is also one of those plays which I can’t seem to miss and I must catch up with it during the week if not on the same day. Nanhii is also the story of how women are exploited in our society and the problems faced by people who live in the downtrodden areas…not exactly light entertainment but very heavy-duty indeed.
I wasn’t watching any play in particular on Tuesdays before but when Ullu Barai Farokht Nahi started I was very tempted to find out what it had to offer. For now, the good performances and the sheer curiosity to find out what happens next make me watch it every week. Ullu Barai Farokht Nahi Is about the feudal system prevalent in the rural areas…very depressing indeed. It is dark and definitely a little scary, it takes you into a world of its own and most certainly gives you tons to think about *sigh*.

nnhi

No dramas for me on Wednesdays, I guess because all the heavy duty “entertainment” starting from Monday takes its toll on me and I need a break! I know I could just stop watching these plays but I cannot!! If I do not watch these dramas I feel like I am missing out. Sometimes on Wednesdays I catch up with telefilms or Kitni Girhi Baaki Hai and trust me it does not help!! I am not saying at all that these dramas are not worth watching, not at all; all the dramas that I mentioned till now and will mention later on are definitely worth my time but all I am saying is that there are way too many serious dramas that go on air all through the week and you cannot watch these drams with your mind switched off while you are watching them and even later on they stay with you. Even the telefilms are too serious and can sometimes haunt you for days.

mirat ul uroos

I watch on Thursdays Mirat-ul-Uroos and Silvatein. Mirat-ul-Uroos is not as dark and gloomy as the rest of the plays that I have mentioned till now but it also deals with a lot of social issues and there is no comic element in the play. The play is serious by all standards. Silvatein does not deal with social issues and the likes but the different tracks and characters are so complicated that you can’t actually watch it with a carefree state of mind. It is definitely a little less serious and sad then rest of the plays, so yes it is always good to have a dose of Silvatein after watching all the sad and serious dramas.

Fridays of course are Zindagi Gulzar Hai nights…but kiya wakihi Zindagi Gulzar Hai? A question many of my friends have asked so many times – thank you for the line guys:). Zindagi Gulzar Hai for many weeks was the show I used to look forward to more than any other and watching it proved to be a relaxing experience. It can be a light-hearted play if one watches it with zero expectations and does not try to make sense out of the happenings…tough job I know!!

Dil-e-Muzter on Saturday has managed to keep me entertained without any stress involved but it seems like there is going to be a lot of rona dhona in Dil-e-Muzter as well in the upcoming episodes. But yes definitely better than the rest of the lot.

I watch Hamsnheen on Saturdays and I have to say that even with a very clichéd storyline, it has managed to keep me entertained. The story isn’t comical or light-hearted of course but the fact that I don’t take it very seriously helps!

Which plays are you following nowadays? Are you tired of watching sorrowful dramas that leave you gloomy and upset? Do you think that we have excess of sad dramas nowadays? Would you like a couple of meaningless, light hearted dramas during the week which you can watch with your thinking button switched off? Dramas that do not have underlying larger than life messages but just entertain us…..Please feel free to share your views.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 16 – Review

0

The whole episode revolved around Minahil and Bilal’s breakup and how he Bilal tries to convince Minahil to come back to the house. However, it does not seem like Minahil is ready to forgive Bilal anytime soon! She has completely lost her trust in him and she finally makes the decision to go abroad to her brother’s house. Bilal seemed very upset at her decision and tried to stop her but it was all in vain as she had already made up her mind. I do not know what to think of Bilal. On one hand, he says he loves Minahil a lot and on the other hand, he lied to her and broke her trust. He admitted his mistake and apologized too but sometimes apology is just not enough! Let’s see if Minahil will come back or if she decides to end their relationship altogether?

Not much happened with Irfa and Shayan in this episode. There has been no contact between them after he came to give Irfa money. He has been having the same arguments with Maleeha over and over again. Maleeha is demanding only one thing from Shayan and that is to leave Irfa but Shayan still refuses to leave her. Adeel Farooqui once again tried to explain her to keep calm and not pressurize Shayan at his point because there is nothing left between Irfa and Shayan and he will leave her eventually. But Maleeha decided to take things in her own hands and ended up on Irfa’s doorstep. She had the guts to offer money to Irfa to leave Shayan! Irfa kept calm throughout her so called ‘deal’ and clearly refused to take money and gave Maleeha a fair piece of her mind. One dialogue spoken by Irfa got embedded in my mind:

“Shayan Ko Khush Karna Aasaan Hai Per Usse Khush Rakhna Bohat Muskil”

Who else would know how hard it is to keep Shayan happy other than Irfa? She had tried her best but failed. It will surely be a daunting task for Maleeha who neither has Irfa’s patience or love in her to deal with a person like Shayan. The scene where she got angry at Shayan because he spoke to some female fans said it all. Shayan is the kind of person who likes and craves attention and Maleeha cannot stand him even talking to some other woman. Her possessive nature would prove to be fatal for their relationship. It seems like Shayan will surely get fed up of her soon.

Bilal had helped Irfa in a very bad time and it was now Irfa’s turn to return the favor. She tried her best to take care of Bilal during Minahil’s absence. She also tried her best to morally support him through the tough time and he appreciates her for this.

What made my heart break is that Shayan even forgot about his daughter! He remembered her when a stranger came to him to ask for donation for kids and he then called Irfa to ask about Rahima. Irfa just could not control her anger when he called her as he knew Rahima needed money for her treatment and he did not send money as he was busy with Maleeha’s birthday. She gave him a good tongue lashing and told him that she had to sell her jewelry for Rahima’s treatment and if Rahima was not there then she would have left him a long time back! This was the first time Shayan actually got scared by Irfa’s outburst. I hope this drives some sense into Shayan and he would at least remember that his daughter is sick and Irfa needs his support at this stage.

I have simply no clue what will happen next! This show is so unpredictable and it really needs to move on already. They are dragging it way too much for my liking. Will Minahil leave Bilal? Will Shayan leave Irfa? Tune in to the show next week to find out!

Pakistani Bowler Umar Gul had a Knee Surgery!

0

Just like other fields of Pakistan, it has been seen that our cricket has also revived from what it was 10 years back and the credit goes to few cricketers who have invested a great deal of hard work and consistency to earn respect for Pakistan cricket team. Out of so many bowlers of who came and went in cricket, Umar Gul is surely one of the most successful ones who have won the hearts of many cricket fans, not only within Pakistan but elsewhere as well.

However, things haven’t been in favor of the sportsman lately and complained of pain and swelling in his right knee while touring South Africa with the team early this year and was forced to miss a Test and three ODIs due to his problem.

An official source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said that Dr David Young, a well-known orthopaedic surgeon who has a lot of experience in treating sportsmen, had performed the surgery.

the source said:

“Gul is well and in high spirits but he has been told he can only began light exercises after two weeks and it could take him four to six weeks to make a complete recovery,”

Gul, 29, who is Pakistan’s most experienced bowler in the current team having taken 163 Test and 161 One-day wickets, was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to his knee problem.. He is now feeling much better after getting operated in Australia.

We pray for his quick Recovery,
