Similarities Between Kankar and Daam

0

Ary Zauq is airing Daam once again so I have been watching it only recently again. When kankar started I was watching Daam too so the similarities between the two plays are more evident to me than to anyone else. We all know that Kankar is based on a short story written by Umera Ahmed titled “Wohi Dil Ke Thehr Janey Ka Mausam” so those who have read the novel know that the main theme of the play is different but till now there are many similarities between the two plays.

The heroine of Kankar, is very cute, very adorable but interestingly Sanam Baloch played the lead in Daam too. Her character was very similar to this one and the settings too. She belongs to a middle class family, is a very good student, has a rich friend (in Kankar, a rich cousin who is a good friend) and the preview for the next episode of Kankar showed that Arzoo will also treat Kiran the same way that Sanam’s character was treated in Daam by her friend. The only difference is that in this case it is her best friend’s finace who is in love with Sanam’s character, in Daam it was her friend’s brother who was in love with her. Like Daam’s heroine, Kiran also is not well off but is very confident and holds her self-respect very close to her. She is sweet and sincere and will never expect Arzoo to think the way she is thinking, she will be shocked to hear everything, that is exactly what happened in Daam too. All the “conspiracies” were going on in the background and the heroine had no idea.

Daam

The class difference between the two families is a very similar too. When in Daam the heroine’s best friend tells her to give her the chain and pendant when she goes to ask for money was so much like everything that has been said about Kiran till now. Things like, people should be friends with people of their own caliber etc.

In Daam the heroine’s father was very different from Kiran’s father in Kankar but there is similarity in the appearances of the two. If you have watched Daam recently, you will agree with me. Behroze Sabzwari has never carried this kind of look before, the producer or director must have asked him to change his look like that for the drama.

kankar

Did you watch Daam? Are you watching Kankar? Do you think that there are similarities between the two plays till now? I have to say one thing that the dialogues in Daam were much more impressive than the dialogues in Kankar till now. The relationship between the characters was much stronger too. Daam was directed by Mehreen Jabbar and we all know that she is an excellent director.

Silvatein Episode 20 – Enough!

0

My apologies for being late in reviewing but actually the last few episodes seemed completely similar with no such progress – hence, no need of reviews. In the last couple of episodes, including this one Natasha kept on blabbering & Zeb kept on absorbing whereas Bilal was being a chicken & Rayaan tried to take some stands on his own. In this episode, there were so many things which I didn’t see coming nor I wanted to see like Natasha approaching some fake peer, Bilal being way too soft & especially Zeb’s parents going against her.

The drama started off with so much to offer as it did make the sibling’s love-hate relationship completely real & relate-able but over the last couple of episodes, the property & the will issue has been dragged to such a point where it is leaving me bored & in such a mental state where it seems harder to take any of such torture anymore.

I know, it’s been a harsh statement so far but the drama has come to a point where it should have taken some positive turns but seems like we have to deal with all this for a few more episodes because I don’t see anything changing at all. Ever since the MIL has died Natasha has lost it, not that she was in her sense before but was a bit subtle in what she wanted out of her life. Now that there is no one to monitor & no one to pretend in front of, Natasha seems like a bull who has gone wild & is hitting every single target left, right & centre. Of all the things, this drama was the one where I never saw the fake peer thing coming. Natasha’s approach has been below the belt & no where near to innocence as it can not be termed as that. She is so cunning that to get what she wants i-e material, she can even ruin her own sister’s life, than what can be expected of her? I thought that the drama dealt with the educated people who have a different approach towards life but the thing related to amulet seemed completely odd considering the feel of the drama.

I understand that the writer has actually tried to justify the title of the drama ‘Silvatein’ but it has gone beyond those tangles which are far away from being undone. Natasha is an eye-sore & is also being such a fiddly bone that is capable of giving anyone a choke at any point in their lives. Ohkay, she wants property, so why can’t she make her point clear once & for all? Why is she beating around the bush & I fail to understand why Rayan wants to rule Bilal? If he can foresee how Bilal will ruin his & his family’s life after being exposed to such a huge amount, then I guess it’s a better shot to just give them in fact give Natasha what she wants just to shut her off.

Rayaan is seeing his wife taking all the pains, she is going through a toughest time ever since she has gotten married to him because of Natasha, she wants to play Mother Teressa to Natasha & Rayaan is being over-possessive about Bilal, which seems out of the picture. No doubt they want things to work out but when they aren’t, I think it’s a best idea to just let them go. Let them do what they want to because no matter what Rayaan will do Natasha will never be thankful.

I hated to see Zeb’s parents blame her for what Natasha has been going through. I mean they’re the parents & no parents in this world are unaware of their children’s nature & attitude, so I guess they’re past that stage where their kids can fool them as they’re quite aged & experienced. So, I guess in stead of buying what Natasha sold them, they should have taken some step in order to calm her down. No matter what, but I do feel & must admit that the writer has actually failed to address the issue clearly that Natasha has. All we have heard is about her complexes that Zeb thinks have arose because of her but she is way too ahead of such complexes & Zeb’s never-ending sacrifices & grasping of her utter nonsense isn’t a solution to any of her issues.

I hope that after getting to know about Zeb’s condition, Pupho uses her brains & exposes Natasha because she went to that Peer through her & I really hope that just because Bilal eavesdropped, (what this family is best at) he doesn’t spread the rumor of Zeb expecting a child, because I do not want to see any more of such schemes of Natasha as I am done!

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Sweethearts Of Pakistani Television Industry

0

Yes, we have quite a few charming, adorable and sweet actors and actresses in our television industry who make every drama a must-watch just because they are a part of it. These talented individuals have worked hard to win this special place in the heart of their fans. There are many talented and dedicated people in the industry but there are only a handful who we truly respected and love; the people we want to see on-screen over and over again. This list of course is based on personal likes and dislikes so please feel free to add to the list. Is there any actor or actress who you find very lovable and charming? For me the main reason for calling these artists sweethearts is that they stand out in the crowd.

Samina Peerzada

Oh yes Samina Peerzada is a sweetheart inside out. She has always been so dedicated to her work. Her beautiful smile hasn’t lost its charm in so many years and she looks fresh and radiant even now. Samina Peerzada is a name that has been associated with our industry for a very long time and has never been a part of any controversies. Her career is clean as a slate and she is only getting better with time.

Bushra Ansari

Wit, humor, talent – this actress has it all. She started off very young and gave some memorable performances. She has done it all from hosting, acting to writing scripts. It is always something special watching her on our television screens. She is an asset for our industry.

samina peerzada

Sania Saeed

Sania Saeed is another immensely talented lady in our industry who has worked very hard to make a place in the hearts of people. She is a truly endowed artist with a beautiful smile who performs because it is her passion. She is also another actress who started her career at a very early age.

Adnan Siddiqui

Adnan Siddiqui is one of my favorite male actors, he is someone who has become more graceful with age and he always was an outstanding actor. I have watched so many plays which I would not have watched otherwise because of him.

Nauman Ijaz

Nauman Ijaz is perfect in every way; he is the epitome of versatility. Sometimes we see him playing dominant male characters like he did in Mera Saaein and at other times we see him play a henpecked husband perfectly. He acts as if every character he is chosen for was written for him.

syra yusef

Syra Yusef

Syra Yusef hasn’t been around for as long as the rest of the artists that I mentioned earlier but she is a sweetheart for sure. She knows how to act, she chooses her roles carefully and she is too cute for words. Until now, all her projects have been very good. This is something exceptional for a lady her age.

Fawad Khan

A list containing the names of the sweethearts of the television industry will be incomplete without Fawad Khan. Fawad Khan’s expressions are just as impressive as his dialogue delivery. His natural acting and good looks have won the hearts of many. He is the new sensation in the industry, the person everyone is looking out for. The only problem is that Fawad Khan has not been very wise in choosing his projects. It is still early in his career so he still has enough time to start afresh because he has all that it takes to be a big hit.

Nadia Jamil

Nadia Jamil is very selective about her work but just as charming and adorable. Her acting is flawless; it has been that way right from her first play. The news is that Nadia Jamil is writing a play for the director Haissam Hussain, I have a lot of faith in this talented lady and I am very sure that she will excel in whatever she does.

adnan siddiqui

Savera Nadeem

Savera Nadeem is a total sweetheart too; people who are dedicated to their work always manage to make a place in your heart. Savera Nadeem started her career with theatre, later on when she started working on television she was a big hit too. Good talent is appreciated everywhere. Savera Nadeem is a perfect example of good talent.

There are many other very gifted and veteran actors in our industry but I can’t think of any other name to add to this list. Can you think of another actor who you will put in the “sweetheart category”, please feel free to add new names.

Our Award Shows Put Us To Shame

0

There is so much on our television that makes us proud but sadly enough there are also many things that put us to shame. The electronic media reflects the social norms of a society and unfortunately watching our morning shows and some of the dramas in particular points to the fact that we are fast turning into a very materialistic society with no cultural values. But the one thing on television that truly puts the viewers to shame are our award functions, there is no limit to the vulgarity that is depicted in these award show. The artists who we love and adore because when we see them in dramas we feel they are one of us, seem like people from Bollywood or even Hollywood! Some of our actresses and models feel that they must show their bodies in order to show the world just how modern they are. They have no respect for the sentiments of their fans even and of course no shame.

thf26
There are societies in which it is very common and also in fashion to show off your body but is our society one of them? I have to say that unfortunately some people want that our society should be one of them. Not only this, the cheap dances and performances in these award shows make me cringe, is this really us? Is this who we are? Do these people really represent Pakistan? Most certainly NOT. Who are we following? And most of all who are we fooling? What will we get out of leaving behind our values and picking up Western values. They say that if showing your skin was an indication of being modern and cultured than animals should be considered the most modern race, I wish all our celebrities who think that it is very “cool” to show all that skin would know that.

thf17
The viewers criticized the Hum TV awards so much because of all the cheap performances and the vulgar dresses that most of the female celebrities were wearing but the recently held Tarang Housefull Awards followed the same path. This attitude on the part of the organizers and our celebrities shows that they have no respect for the sentiments of the public. They blindly follow the neighboring country because it seems like they have this strange desire to compete with them in vulgarity. Have we completely forgotten that the reason so many people sacrificed their lives to get a separate homeland for Muslims was that we could safeguard our identities? People who are so impressed by the Indian culture are destroying the true identity of the people living in Pakistan with their own hands. They have forgotten that we have a very rich culture of our own which we should work hard to promote and protect. On the contrary, we spend money and put it in extra effort to promote things that have nothing to do with out culture.

thf3
How many of you want to see such award shows? Do you think that these award shows show the identity of our people? Does the respect of the celebrities who participate in such shows increase or decrease in your eyes? It is the duty of every Pakistani to show their discontent with these shows, so that the organizers of these shows know that we do not want to see all this vulgarity being promoted in our society. We would much rather see shows that are simple and not that colorful but in line with our culture and identity. We do not wish to put our traditions and individuality on stake just to be entertained for a short while. Please project the right image of our country, don’t make fun of our values just to make some money. If there are other people who feel the same way, feel free to express your thoughts in the comment section, we must speak up against this vulgarity.

Dil-e-Muzter Episode 17 – Adeel and Silah’s Confrontation

0

This week’s episode is one of my favorites so far as it showed everything that I wanted to see since a very long time. It was a thoroughly enjoyable episode as I loved every single minute of it. Adeel has finally seen Zoya’s true nature (five years were enough to see her true face) and now he has no choice but to endure her and listen to her never ending rants and complains. Now she is the oppressor and he is the one being oppressed and he cannot even complain because he chose this life for himself.  I cannot help but gloat when Adeel murmured to himself:

“Jo Nuksan Hona Tha Woh Hogaya”

He was referring to Zoya and his relationship and I could not feel an ounce of pity for him because this is exactly what he deserves. He never voices his regret openly but his expressions says everything. Now Silah is living a peaceful and satisfactory life and Adeel craves peace in his house because Zoya is always taunting him or complaining about her life. He has become immune to everything that she says and has learned to ignore her.

I saw a lot of changes in Adeel in this episode as he is more patient now and does not get annoyed easily, his egoistic nature has also toned down a bit, it seems that he has come to terms with his situation and his life. I wish this change would have come a bit sooner! He cannot help but compare Silah with Zoya and see the huge difference between the two of them. Silah never complained and lived happily even when his salary barely fulfilled their needs but she was always thankful for whatever she got. She was a true gem and Adeel never realized it until he lost her. Too bad Adeel!

dil e muzter pic 2

Adeel also met Affan for the first time in this episode when he fell down in the park. Even though I do not like Adeel but I have to admit that the scene was absolutely adorable. Adeel and Zoya have no kids of their own and I think fate is getting back at Zoya for what she did with Affan. Her carelessness and indifference was the cause of his death and karma is always there as a form of retribution. Now she is desperate to have a kid of her own but she is childless for the past 5 years. All her dreams of leading a happy life with Adeel have been shattered and she is no longer the same Zoya who used to be dressed up all day long. Now she barely has time to look herself in the mirror and she does not pay any heed to her appearance. What else can she expect when she made her own home by breaking Silah’s house?

It is pretty evident now that Ahmer likes Silah and his father also seems to be aware of his feelings and tried to give hints that he knows but Ahmer quickly changes the topic whenever he tries to talk to him about it. Ahmer was the one who planned Silah’s birthday at the farmhouse and the whole family went there to have a good time. But the question is does Silah have a future with Ahmer?

dil e muzter pic

Now coming to the best part of the episode! I thoroughly enjoyed the last five minutes of the episode. The shocked expression on Adeel’s face when he saw Ahmer and Silah come out of the car was priceless! I was laughing when I saw the comical expression on Zoya’s face when she saw Silah and realized that Silah is Adeel’s new boss. I was very excited to see the confrontation between Silah and Adeel as Silah already knew he would be there and I wanted to see her indifference and cold attitude towards him. I cannot wait for the next episode to see her cold treatment with Adeel. The preview for the next episode seems promising!

So guys what are your views about the episode, especially the last 5 minutes?

Meera Ready to give Priyanka A tough competition!

0

While we see our film industry grooming gradually, there are some remains of the typical lollywood industry that is still being a source of humor for the world outside. The Lollywood actresses are now striving hard to get some limelight by either being in news for frauds and crimes or are passing punching statement to drag attention. Meera, one of the A class actresses of Lollywood, who is also known for her exceptional English recently said that she is all ready to compete with Bollywood Actress priyanka Chopra.

The actress said that she has a lot of potential and hoping for a chance to prove herself by competing with Priyanka Chopra. She is looking forward to offers where the two can share screens together so that Meera can prove her talent and the fact that she is even better than Priyanka.

Untitled

Meera said:

“I hope I get to do many more good films and I want to compete with A-list actresses in Bollywood. I want to compete with Priyanka Chopra and I would also like to share the screen space with her. This will give me an opportunity to prove myself and the audience can see the other side of me.I believe in competition and competition allows a person to prove his or her talent,”

We did share a news where a Bollywood Director Ajay Yadav sued Meera for not coming on shoots and the promotional activities of the movie “Bhadaas” which is said to be a psychological thriller. The movie will be releasing this July.

Lets see how far Meera proves herself in India all over again.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 10 – A Dejected Maryam!

0

What I like about our shows is that it is based on reality. In every show a social issue common in our society is always highlighted and we got to see one highlighted in this episode too. The way Sultan got upset by the way Maryam was treated like many other daughter in laws in our society was heart wrenching to watch. He was never in favor of her marriage to Zayaan and both Amna and Sultan were worried about Maryam’s future in that house. It is true that there are still many mother-in-laws who treat their daughter-in-laws very badly and Sultan raised the question that all of us had thought about at one point or the other; why can’t a mother-in-law treat their daughter-in-law like their own daughter? Why cannot they forgive them for their small mistakes and why do the girl’s parents face all the humiliation? This is the sore truth of our society and I am glad it was showed in this serial. Hats off to Bilal Qureshi! He stole the show with his mind blowing acting and left me in awe of him. Is he really a new actor? The expressions, dialogue delivery and the emotional quotient was just spot on in this scene!

photo(142)

Zayaan has turned into a typical husband, not caring about her wife’s feelings and showing his male chauvinist side. Is he forgetting that he was the one pursuing Maryam and was adamant on marrying her and not the other way round! He does not pay any heed to Maryam’s feelings and he hurts her in one way or the other every time. Where has the loving Zayaan vanished? He does not even talk to her properly the next day after everything that Maryam had gone through. He just gets annoyed by her when she calls him and asks him to take her to the doctor as she was not feeling well. He refuses and tells her to go with her mother instead. Isn’t Maryam your responsibility Zayaan?

Zayan’s attitude alters a bit when he gets the news of Maryam expecting. Maryam is on top of the world when Zayaan tells her that he is coming to pick her and her whole family makes arrangements to greet him. But alas, Nusrat cannot digest this fact and she again plays her game. When will this woman learn?

Maryam gets very upset this time when Zayaan tells her that he is not coming to pick her up and she leaves for her home feeling dejected. Her whole family had been so happy and excited when they heard this news especially Amna whose excitement was infectious and the whole house ended up forgetting everything that had happened the previous day. Maryam is reluctant to go in front of Sultan and she apologizes to him as soon as she gets a chance but Sultan quickly tells her that it is all in the past now and he is happy for her. I simply love the bonding between the three siblings! They know each other so well and can do anything for the others happiness.

aa photo

Afshah and Nusrat are both unhappy with this news but most of all this news has affected Faiza, who gets devastated upon hearing it. She fears that Maryam’s position in the house would now get stronger and she would not let this happen at any cost. She seeks Umair’s help once again and he tells her that he will help her get rid of this problem. Will their plan succeed?

Nusrat would not give up a single chance to taunt Maryam and this is what she did when Maryam came home and just when Zayaan and Maryam were starting to celebrate she had to come and interfere and taunt Maryam about her manners and her family background. She is seriously starting to get on my nerves now. I had expected her attitude to change a little after hearing such wonderful news but it is just useless to expect anything from her. Her rant spoiled Zayaan’s mood and he refused to eat and celebrate with Maryam and poor Maryam was left all alone. I thought this news would make Zayaan forget everything and the old loving and caring Zayaan would be back but he has seriously turned out to be a huge disappointment.

The preview for the next episode was a bit scary. Let’s see if Faiza will be able to succeed in her evil plans! Fingers crossed!

Kankar Episode 4 – Sikandar’s Confession

0

This latest episode focused on Sikandar being adamant on not getting married to Arzoo and the aftermath of the “news” that he likes Kiran. The news that Sikandar likes Kiran spread like wildfire, everyone in Arzoo’s and Sikandar’s family found out about this latest development but Kiran had no clue what was going on. The call from Sikandar did get the alarm bells ringing in Kiran’s head but she obviously has no idea what was brewing in Sikandar’s head. I was hoping that we were going to find out why exactly Sikandar is so infatuated by Kiran – can’t call it love just yet! I wish he would have mentioned the reason while talking to his mother or in any way at all – this guy does not even write diaries so we have no way of knowing that what is it about Kiran that he likes so much. It happens quite often in our dramas nowadays that this “falling in love”, ‘wanting to marry a girl” happens a little too quickly without any real rhyme or reason. Well, I guess this is what we call love at first sight but it most certainly doesn’t sound convincing enough and definitely something one must put under the fantasy umbrella!

kankar3kankar1

Fahad Mustafa was much more convincing today than in the previous two episodes but it will take time for me to get used to all the make-up. I have to say that I do not like anything about Sikandar’s character at all till now. He seems like a very selfish person who wouldn’t think twice before hurting someone. Yes, he does have a very valid point; he shouldn’t be forced to marry someone he does not like but couldn’t he try and talk to his mother about it nicely? I have to say though that the entire “not eating anything” tactic looked very familiar, I have seen sons using that tactic more than the girls and most of the times it works like a charm!

kankar4Sikandar is not the only one who is smitten by Kiran but poor Adnan is equally love-struck. Kiran has absolutely no plans of getting married anytime soon; she is definitely not interested in getting married to Adnan and Sikandar is a total no no of course. Although, Sikandar falls for Kiran, calls her (where did he get her number from by the way?) and confesses that he likes her but Kiran gets all the blame. This happens all the time in reality too; technically Sikandar didn’t really cheat on Arzoo because there was no commitment to begin with but even if men cheat on their fiancés or wives, it is always the “other woman” who gets all the blame. Kiran is completely unaware of what is going on but Arzoo and Sikandar’s mother blame her and sadly enough Arzoo also thinks that she may have something to do with what happened. What Sikandar’s mother said to Sikandar about Kiran belonging to a middle class household, “mohallay mei rehte hei, tum un ke ghar mei beth bhi nahi sako gay”, sounded awfully familiar. Didn’t we just see all of that happening in Zindagi Gulzar Hai? I have a feeling that we will be hearing a lot of such things in the coming episodes.

arzoo

The story is definitely getting a little interesting, one does wonder what is going to happen next and I also hope that it is done well too. I have to say that for an Umera Ahmed play, the dialogues are quite average, nothing mind-lowing. The play is still giving me the “been there done that” feeling a little too often. I was hoping that the relationship between Kiran and her father will be one that we will remember for a long time but Behroze Sabzwari’s role seems minimal. I feel that he is being wasted in this role; he is capable of doing so much more. Quite interestingly Kiran’s father wants to marry Kiran to Adnan but her mother isn’t very happy with the idea.

In short there was a great deal of talk about marriage proposals and issues relating to marriage in this latest episode. It seems like Arzoo and Kiran’s friendship is over, which is sad! Like always the nok jhok between the sisters added a very real touch to the drama. Overall, this was definitely a very well directed episode. The male leads in the play, Hassan Niazi and Fahad Mustafa both seem to be the weakest link till now.

Pakistani Actors demand a raise in Pay after the Budget 2013

0

After the elections of May 2013, the PML-N has formed its government in the country and recently passed its first budget that is still been criticized by people all over the country. While the increment in salaries of the government employees was only 10% on their basic salary this time, the government played a little cruel game by increasing the GST on every product, making things expensive in general. It was this time that a special tax is now imposed on all the foreign content whether it be the Turkish or Indian dramas or the Bollywood or Hollywood movies. Giving a further blow to the entertainment industry and the life of Producers, The celebrities are now demanding a rise in package per episode.

One of the newspapers covered a special report where it highlighted that the cream actors of the drama industry including Noman Ajaz, Maria Wasti, Faisal Qureshi, Saba Qamar, Gohar Mumtaz, etc. have  demanded to increase their pay per episode with Rs. 5000 as the GST has made everything expensive.

390072_283965921748585_403429047_n

Some of the other celebrities have already raised their prices and the producers are now finding it difficult to negotiate with them on the said issue. According to these celebrities, their demand is just and they will not turn it down no matter what happens.

Lets see how producers will now settle the issue, but there is one thing for sure that the budget has increased problems for the poor citizens of the society who cannot even raise their voice to demand or request an increase in their daily wages.

God Bless this Country,

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 21 – Shayan Is Back!

0

We saw the second last episode this week and the show is finally reaching its high ending point. Shayan is back but there is more or less no change in him. His attitude has not changed one bit and I am not really surprised by this. What else can you expect from a person like Shayan? But i must say Mohib Mirza has done a spectacular job as Shayan. I was never Mohib’s fan but I am now and I will be looking forward to more of his shows. I simply have no words to describe how much I adore Saba Qamar, I have always been her fan and I do not think there could be any other actress who could play the role of Irfa.

This week’s episode was highly frustrating and it just irked me to no end. Is there no limit to Shayan’s selfish and judgemental nature? All his guilt vanished when he saw Bilal, Rahima and Irfa together and his possessiveness came back. He quickly concluded that since Rahima calls Bilal Baba, Irfa also has a illegitimate relationship with him and that man had the guts to go and accuse Irfa of being unfaithful to him! Irfa was highly disgusted and offended by his words. Really Shayan? These accusations don’t seem appropriate coming out of the mouth of someone like you. If I disliked Shayan previously, then I happen to hate him now. He even warned Irfa that he could take Rahima from her through the help of court. The gall of this man! He never cared about his sick daughter when he left her all those years ago but all of a sudden he wants to be a part of her life. That’s just great!

photo(141)photo(140)

He finally met his daughter and was surprised to see that she recognised him as his real father and his guilt was back when he got to know about Minahil still being a part of Bilal’s life and that all his accusations were false. Whats the use of regretting now Shayan? You should have thought about this before going to Irfa’s house and accusing her. Rahima got attached to Shayan in a very short time but Irfa was unaware about them meeting on a regular bases. Rahima did tell Minahil about meeting Shayan and this worried both Minahil and Bilal. Bilal, on the other hand, got a proposal for Irfa from Ansar, a colleague of hers in the hospital and he was just thinking of how to talk to her about it when he got to know about Shayan coming back in her life.

Bilal and Minahil have both been blessed as they got a daughter in the form of Rahima. I love the way she refers to them as Baba and Mummy. Bilal spoils Rahima as he fulfills all her wishes. He has played a very important role in her life as he has filed the gap of a loving father. Irfa tries to stop him from fulfilling all her wishes but he just does not listen to her as he simply loves spoiling her. I do not know what made Minahil come back to Bilal but I am glad that she did.

Shayan again comes back with a guilty conscience and seeks Minahil’s help but this time Irfa is not ready to listen to him. She has every right to be angry at him! Even Bilal gives him a good piece of his mind when Shayan tells him that he is back for his daughter. Where was he all those years when she needed him the most?

I am eagerly waiting for the last episode now. Will Irfa forgive Shayan or will she marry Ansar? What are your views? What should be Irfa’s decision?

Five Reasons Why Mathira Should Be Banned From Television

0

Yes, I know we have a very free media now. The private channels can literally get away with the most eccentric of things sometimes. The public can criticize or show their dislike as much as they want but no one listens. The television is for the public isn’t it? So, the people who organize these shows should keep people’s wishes in mind. Unfortunately, controversy and controversial people get more TRPs whether or not the viewers want to see them on-screen. There are a few people especially the morning show hosts and some actors who I think do not deserve to be on television at all but there is one person in particular who should be officially banned from television and that is Mathira. She needs no introduction because she has done enough publicity for herself for everyone to know who she is. Here are five reasons why Mathira should not appear on television.

1. The Woman Makes You Want To Throw Up The Second She Opens Her Mouth! Mathira never talks sense, everything she has to say is in some way or the other associated with all the dirty thoughts that her mind is filled with. I watched the morning show in which Mathira and Ahsan were guests, one would expect Mathira to be a little decent in a morning show since it is a family affair. But Mathira does not know the meaning of decency. The things she did and said were unbelievable. So much so that Nida Yasir, the host of the show had to tell her that Ahsan Khan’s wife may be watching the show. She is height of indecency and vulgarity.

2. Her Gestures Are Cheapness Personified. Forget about Mathira opening her mouth, just mute the channel and look at this woman’s gestures and that alone will be enough to make you punch her. Flying kisses are like hellos to Mathira and it does not end there! I am sure all of you who have seen this woman on-screen know what I am talking about.

3. No One Wants To See Her On TV! Is there anyone out there who actually looks forward to watching Mathira on-screen? How many of you can watch her with your family? She is definitely not one of those people who leave you with a good feeling. Why should she be on-screen when no one wants to see her? The television is for the viewers so the people who organize these shows should keep people’s wishes in mind.

4. Attention Seekers Put Me Off. It is very obvious that Mathira does all of what she does to get attention. She is hungry for attention; she will resort to any measure to be in the paper or in the news. Why do the TV channels feel that they need to feed this desire of hers to get attention? People are more “curious” about such people than anything else so I think the channels also try to cash in on this curiosity.

5. She Gives Out The Wrong Message About Pakistani Celebrities And People. We have so many educated and decent celebrities who work extra hard to give Pakistan a good image. People like Mathira cancel out the efforts of such people because they give the wrong image of our industry and people. When someone is on television people will presume that it is normal for Pakistanis to watch such people on TV when actually it is not because people like Mathira are outcasts in our society who don’t belong or fit in anywhere.

Do you think Mathira should be banned from television? Share your views.

0

No matter which showbiz industry you examine closely, you will see a lot of examples where one member being a celebrity turns into an opportunity  for the rest of his family members and this story is all about Humayun Saeed, who is a veteran actor of Pakistan’s entertainment industry. He is also known for his production house and the dramas been produced by him. It has been recently seen that the actor disappeared from the Pakistan drama industry due to his busy schedules for his upcoming movie “Main Shahid Afridi hoon” and will now make a comeback with a drama serial that has already attracted a good number of viewers before its promo been on air. The drama comes under the title of ‘Bin Roye Aansu’ which is written by Farhat Ishtiaq and Humayun will be seen with Mahira Khan on screen.

While Humayun is considered as an old gem by the youth of today, it is his younger brother who will now be appearing on screen this Ramadan in a special Ramadan play ‘Yeh Shadi Nahi Ho Sakti’. Salman Saeed who has been caught with his elder brother often in interviews and ceremonies will make his debut with Urwa Hocane next month.

Nothing more can be revealed about the play yet but there is one thing for sure that there are a lot of expectations attached with  Salman Saeed by the fans of Humayun, who would love to follow his brother if Salman proved himself on screen!

All for now.

Dil-e-Muzter Episode 16 Review – A New Beginning

0

We got to see another fully entertaining episode this week as the show took a leap of 5 years. This show has been known for its fast pace since the very first episode and we again saw a very fast paced episode this week. Sanam and Sarwat once again played their characters to perfection! These two are surprising me more and more every week with their brilliant performance. Sanam’s dialogue delivery has improved immensely since the past few episodes. I really loved a few dialogues in the show this week spoken by Silah.

“Tumhare Jaate Hee Uska Raasta Saaf Hogaya

Rasta To Woh Kabka Badal Chuka Tha”

Silah had this exchange of dialogues with Safeena when she informed her about Adeel’s second marraige. Nabeela came to visit Silah and she was the one to inform Silah about Adeel’s marriage to Zoya but she was not aware that Silah did not know about this. Silah finally found a true friend in Nabeela as she fully sympathized with Silah because she knew Adeel had done wrong with her. Silah saw how pure her intentions were and accepted her whole heartedly as a friend. Both Sami and Nabeela became an important part of her life from then on and they even stayed back in Pakistan to help establish her business. Ahmer and Safeena also provided full support to Silah and helped her stand back on her own feet. She was reluctant to start working again because of her lack of confidence in herself but they both managed to convince her overtime. Silah may have lost Adeel but she still has some genuine people in her life who are different from the selfish Adeel as they always stand by her side through thick and thin.

I am seriously sick and tired of Zoya’s games and schemes now. This woman just never stops! First she created a huge fuss about Nabeela insulting her and she accused Adeel for not defending her and this accusation did not go well with Adeel and they had a fight. But Zoya being Zoya quickly changed her colors and reconciled with Adeel and emotionally blackmailed Adeel to convince him to move to some other house as she felt that their house had memories of Silah and she was not comfortable with them. Zoya’s mother as usual bad mouthed Adeel about his behavior but Zoya did not pay heed to her mother’s words as she was too busy planning her next step. She was eager to change the house and Adeel fulfilled her wish very soon. One surprising fact that I noticed about Adeel is that he never bad mouths Silah anymore. He even praised her once in the last episode and did not utter a word when Nabeela was praising Silah in front of him. Weird isn’t it? Maybe he is finally realizing Silah’s value but is not ready to accept it. He has some serious ego issues!

The best part about the episode was the entry of a new baby who was also named Affan. Silah was blessed with another baby boy and she got her courage, hope and confidence when he came in her life. She started anew and left the past behind her and moved on in her life. Now her world revolved around Affan and her job and she was seen happy in her new life. Silah, however, refused to let Adeel know about the new baby because she still blamed him for Affan’s untimely death. She did not want Adeel to have any relationship with this new baby and Safeena and the rest accepted her decision. But for how long will she able to hide this from Adeel? He will get to know one day and he will create a huge fuss about it. According to the preview for the next episode, he will meet Affan but I do not think he will get to know that Affan is his son anytime soon.

silah

The adorable Affan is a bundle of joy not only for her mother, but also for Ahmer. I loved the bonding between Ahmer and Affan and I simply loved all of Affan scenes with Silah. I am really looking forward to the next episode now! I cannot wait for Silah and Adeel’s confrontation.

Do share your opinion about the episode!

Amar Bail by Umera Ahmed Chapter 1 – 10 in Roman Urdu

0

Amarbail is a love story of Umer Jehangir and Aleezay Sikandar, set-up in the backdrop of Pakistani bureaucratic culture. A very simply written novel of Umera Ahmed, deals with multiple issues of our society in a very intriguing manner. It is a story of imbalanced relationships, broken families, lust for power, complexes, insecurities and amidst all problems of love, its intensity and sacrifices.
It depicts the true face of our bureaucratic system, highlighting social evils like corruption, nepotism and injustice and how at times going against the law is the only way to punish the culprits.

The novel touches your heart by its brilliant portrayal of human emotions and psychology. It revolves around Umer Jehangir and Aleezay Sikandar. Two people both from broken bureaucrat families. Aleezay Sikandar who had her complexes, her desire in life to be loved and taken care of and Umar Jehangir, a character with multiple shades.

What makes Umer intriguing and fascinating are the imperfections in him, a character that is very re, alistic but never sketched before, a mixture of good and evil, far from the usual perfect hero; normally depicted in our novels. On the surface he was a selfish and corrupt man, but deep inside he had a caring and sensitive heart, who longed for his mother’s love, cared for his friends and was totally aware of his own weaknesses and that awareness of himself is what made him sacrifice his love. In short he is a character one cannot resist falling in love with despite all his weaknesses

The movie revolves around three characters and the love triangle that exists in between them. Yasir will be playing a role of an Indian guy who happens to fall in love with a girl. It is difficult to reveal more about the storyline as the officials haven’t leaked much about it on social media.

Looking forward to this Movie, we wish him all the best for his biggest break of life,

Kankar Episode 3 – The Encounter!

0

For me the best thing about this latest installment was Arzoo and Kiran’s friendship, the few light hearted moments between the sisters and of course Sikandar and Kiran’s encounter. Sikandar and Arzoo finally met and the conversation between the two revolved more around Kiran than anything else. Sikandar seemed cold and arrogant in the few scenes that were shown today; I would have liked to see more of him so that the viewer’s could understand his character better. I have to say that Fahad Mustafa wasn’t exactly the perfect choice for playing this character because he does not seem very comfortable in his role. What he does looks a little too much like acting, with so much spontaneous and natural actors around that is just not good enough. However, the scenes between Kiran and Sikandar were very well done. Fahad Mustafa seemed much more comfortable playing the man who was love struck, arrogance doesn’t really suit him. Sanam Baloch’s acting like always was top-notch in every single scene; she emotes effortlessly and is always in top form. Just when I thought that Kankar may never grow on me, I was pleasantly surprised when Sikandar and Kiran’s encounters changed the feel of the entire episode.

kankar1

I must confess that the way all the girls in the play (with the exception of Kiran) are obsessed with the idea of marriage is a little annoying. Irim is only twenty and she reacted as if it was the end of the world when she found out about Shoaib’s engagement. Rukhsar throws a fit when she finds out about Irim’s engagement and Arzoo’s only purpose in life is to get married to the man of her dreams! I have most certainly seen girls who are in love with the idea of being married at this age but I have to say that watching them on-screen isn’t actually delightful.

There are a lot of characters in the play and many families involved. I am wondering how Rukhsar’s track in particular is relevant to the main story. The problem with too many characters and too many tracks is that if the focus is lost then any play can become very tedious. I am hoping that the focus will be on Sikandar and Kiran because I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of them. For the first time I am actually looking forward to the next episode because I am waiting to find out how the entire family is going to react when Sikandar will break the news to them and how it will affect Arzoo and Kiran’s friendship. I also want to know why exactly Sikandar fell for Kiran instantly. Was it because of her overflowing confidence? He seemed like a completely different person after the encounter.

kankar2

Kiran is very close to her father and Kamal isn’t exactly in Kiran’s father’s good books. How will he react to the proposal, is a million dollar question too. The “ap ne poori duniya ghoomi hui hai, hur kisam ke khanay khaye hun gay” dialogue reminded me of what Kashaf said to her mother about Zaroon! When Kiran comes back from Arzoo’s house, her clothes seemed a little inappropriate; nothing matched and they were completely out of place. Other than that I am in love with Kiran’s character; her confidence and carefree attitude is subtle and fresh.

kankar3

For me this episode was the best one so far because the last few scenes gave me something to look forward to. I am hoping that the play will pick up pace from the next episode and hopefully the focus will be more on the main characters. The actress playing Arzoo is very cute, her dialogue delivery may not be perfect but she has a good chemistry with Sanam Baloch or should I say Sanam Baloch is all chemistry, she makes every single scene worthwhile. Honestly speaking, I have great expectations from umera Ahmed and don’t want to be led down. Please feel free to share your views about this latest installment.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 9 – Sultan’s Apology…

0

This week’s episode depicted a very common problem in our society. Why are the girl’s families always the victim of all the insults from her in laws? The girl’s in laws make the most unreasonable demands and the girl’s family need to fulfill all these demands just because their daughter is a part of that house. I am glad they showed this issue in this show and they did manage to depict the helplessness of the girl’s family perfectly!

Maryam’s mother in law seems to be in no mood to accept Maryam even after Afsha’s problem has been solved and she has gone back to her house. She leaves no chance to insult, humiliate and degrade Maryam in all possible ways. First she complained to Zayaan about her manners as Mehnaz taunted Nusrat that Maryam did not meet her properly which is not true at all. She treated all the guests with respect but was reluctant to socialize with them as she still blames herself for everything they had gone through recently.

Nusrat pointed fingers at Maryam’s upbringing and Zayaan got annoyed and told her to resolve all her issues regarding Maryam by talking to her and this gave Nusrat another chance to taunt Maryam and that is exactly what she did. She insulted Maryam badly and even pointed fingers at her family and her background and this is when Sultan came and heard Nusrat verbally abusing Maryam and in anger he answered back to Nusrat and Nusrat got highly offended. She then created a huge drama just to humiliate Maryam further and she kept the childish demand that Sultan should apologize to her in the presence of his parents. The shocking part is that Zayaan agreed and he even kept this demand in front of Maryam and when she tried to reason with him, Zayaan was not ready to listen to anything! Is this the same Zayaan who was dying to marry Maryam once upon a time?

My heart went out for Maryam when she had to beg Nusrat to take her demand back but Nusrat showed no pity and Maryam finally had to call Sultan and ask him to come and apologize and bring their parents along. Maryam’s parents were unaware of everything that had happened and were happy to visit Maryam’s house for the first time but they were in for a shock when Nusrat started behaving rudely with them and questioned their upbringing. The way Sultan apologized with his hands joined and head bowed was unbearable to watch! If this was not enough, his father made him go on his knees and apologize! I cannot imagine what Maryam would have felt seeing her parents and brother’s humiliation. Ayeza Khan has done a commendable job in this episode as she beautifully portrayed the inner turmoil Maryam was going through.

While Maryam was facing all this humiliation alone, Zayaan was enjoying lunch with Faiza. Zayaan, this is the same Faiza you hated and refused to marry, don’t you remember? I have no idea what happened to Zayaan all of a sudden! I cannot believe someone can change so much in such a short time. We got to see a new male chauvinistic side of Zayaan as according to him it is not necessary to tell wives everything, really Zayaan? Apparently his views about Faiza has also changed after she helped Afsha and convinced Khurram to take her back into the house. He has started taking Maryam for granted and I cannot believe he refused to come when Maryam asked him to come to give her moral support! He did not even tell her that he was with Faiza and just told her to deal with everything herself. Faiza was seen gloating when she saw Zayaan talking rudely to Maryam. So far she has been succeeding in her plan as Zayaan has started to treat her properly but how long will she able to keep up the façade that she has accepted Zayaan and Maryam’s relationship? Not for long I am sure!

The preview for the next episode looks promising as Nusrat’s attitude is going to change after she hears the news of the baby.

Please do share your views about the episode!

Tax imposed on Foreign Dramas and Movies in Pakistan

0

After the budget been passed by the PML-N government yesterday, while half of the country is still shocked to have the worst budget ever, there is  one clause in the budget 2013 that is appreciated by the people affiliated to the entertainment industry of Pakistan. The government has placed an additional tax on the import of all foreign content which was promoted previously within the country, including the airing of Foreign dramas( The Turkish and the Indian) drama  serials and the foreign movies(Hollywood and Bollywood, both).

This is strange that even the salaries of the government employees have not increased and the General Sales Tax (GST) has also increased on the purchase of every product. Taking full advantage of the hype been created by the Local entertainment industry, the government took a move where every channels will have to pay a tax of Rs.100,000 per episode of the foreign drama going on-air. Similarly, the Cinemas are now bound to pay a tax of 1 Million for showing any foreign content in Cinemas, meaning a total loss if the movie doesn’t receives a good response from the audience. Moreover, the cinemas would increase the ticket fee, making the citizens suffer directly or indirectly.

Untitled

The foreign Dramas, however, did face a lot of criticism where many celebrities considered the airing of Turkish Dramas as a threat to the local talent few months back but despite of long protests and wild talk shows, nothing was seen been practically implemented. With the budget been proposed by this new government, It is expected that foreign dramas will significantly decrease.

Random Thoughts Regarding Dramas

0

I am a drama fan to the core, I live and breathe dramas. I cannot even count how many dramas I am usually watching at a given time because I try to stay in touch with, if not watch regularly, most of the dramas that go on air. There were a few thoughts brewing in my mind which I would like to share with everyone. I would really like to hear what other people have to say about these things. They are just random thoughts coming from an average viewer, nothing that is coming from an expert or a critic. Since most of the people who visit drama sites are just as much into dramas as me so this could lead to an interesting discussion.

Are Friday Nights Fixed For Umera Ahmed’s Plays Only On Hum TV? If yes then what if Kankar doesn’t do as well as its predecessors? Shehr-e-Zaat despite of some weaknesses was a big hit. The script in particular was a winner; people looked forward to it every week and loved discussing it. I remember the number of comments that used to be there under the Shehr-e-Zaat thread. Same was the case with Zindagi Gulzar Hai as well, it had an enormous fan following and was a must watch play. When these two plays were on air most of the drama viewers were following these two plays on Friday nights and not any other. Kankar hasn’t exactly started off that strong and it did not receive the kind of applause and attention that Shehr-e-Zaat and Zindagi Gulzar Hai did. If the trend continues will Hum TV move Kankar to a weekday? It has done this before with other dramas that were not doing well. In fact channels do it all the time because the competition on the weekend is most tough and there is maximum viewer ship. People, who may not watch dramas all week, certainly watch it on the weekend. Not to mention the fact that people usually have very high hopes from a drama that airs on Hum TV on a weekend. What do you people think? Will Kankar manage to grip the audience the way its predecessors did? And if it doesn’t then will Hum TV move it to another day? If they do so, it may offend the writer. Momina Duraid and Sultana Siddiqui both are very fond of Umera Ahmed, so they won’t do anything that will upset her. Time will tell! A very important question also is that do people have better things to watch on other channels on a Friday night? I feel that had AunnZara been shifted to the Friday slot instead of Thursday, it could have proven to be a strong contender.

Why Can’t We Have More Plays Like Dastaan? I watched Dastaan recently and I must say that it made me think about things which most dramas do not delve into. It reminded me of the sacrifices that millions of Muslims made in order to get this country and also the idealism on the basis of which Pakistan was formed. We need more dramas like Dastaan that will make us think on those lines and promote patriotism. That has to be more important than highlighting marital problems over and over again.

Why Doesn’t Hum TV Air A & B Productions Serials? Yes, someone please enlighten me, what is the issue between these two? It is very obvious that Hum TV does not air dramas that are produced by this production house, although it is one of the biggest production houses in the country, producing maximum dramas. There are so many people who prefer to watch dramas on Hum TV. Also, Hum TV live is available online, so those people who are living abroad can watch it easily too. Hum TV has worked hard to make a name for itself, that is also another reason because of which people prefer Hum TV dramas. It will definitely benefit A & B productions if their dramas were to go on air on Hum TV. Would you like to see A & B Production’s serials on Hum TV? Please share your opinion.

Can We Please Have Family Dramas Back? I miss the good old PTV days of the 80s when dramas were a family affair. There were very few dramas that would go on air in a week back then because there was only one channel but watching dramas was a ritual for the entire family. The housewives finished their work before 8pm, the entire household had dinner by that time and even the kids’ bedtime was after they had watched the drama. Even a five year old could comfortably sit with his or her parents and siblings and watch the drama. That is not the case anymore. There is no play on air nowadays that one can watch with an older sibling even. It is impossible to watch these plays with children or even your parents sometimes.

Enough Of Married Couples And Their Problems! No matter what the central theme of the play is, the story will in some way revolve around a married couple. That is true for most of the dramas that are on air nowadays. Marriage is a very important social obligation and most of the women who watch dramas are housewives but I think we are getting an overdose of shadi shuda couples and their big and small issues in our dramas. First the problem is getting the girls married and after that the issue is the problems they face after marriage. We have had some wonderful dramas in the dramas like Tanhaiyaan, Aangan Tera and many other classics which managed to be hits without focusing on the issue of marriage.

Pakistani dramas have a great deal going for them but there is always room for improvement. Also, it would be even better if channels did not give preference to certain production houses and writers.

PEMRA Increases Taxes on Foreign Content – Will It Discourage The Channels?

0

There is good news for all the foreign drama haters out there who have been against the airing of foreign shows since the very first day. PEMRA has recently announced that there will be an increased tax on foreign content to protect the local industry from foreign competition. It is about time they took this step to protect our prospering industry from foreign competition.

photo(129)

The trend of foreign shows started with the channel Urdu 1 which started airing Turkish and Indian shows. After the stupendous success of Ishq Mamnu, various other Pakistani channels also started airing Turkish shows. Even now a very famous Turkish show Fatima Gul is being aired on Urdu 1 which has received a remarkable response from audiences. Other Turkish shows include Fareb, Fariha, Bewafaai, Noor that airs on different Pakistani channels like Geo TV, Express and Urdu 1. The sad part is that the story did not end here and Indian shows also started airing on different Pakistani channels on prime slots which irked the viewers to no end. Many celebrities like Faisal Qureshi, Samina Peerzada, Shahood Alvi, Aijaz Aslam, Saba Hameed and many others have been seen voicing their protest against the airing of foreign content on various channels. Other than that there are many Indian shows like Qubool Hai, Badde Ache Lagte Hai, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Anamika, Hitler Didi that airs on the channel Express and Geo TV. Recently Hum TV also aired the promos of a Turkish show which shocked and disappointed the audiences. What will be the future of all these shows now?

Following Urdu 1’s lead, Geo has recently launched a new channel Geo Kahani which features Indian, Turkish and Pakistani content. Urdu 1 followed by Geo and Express air the largest number of foreign shows and the increased tax will not be good for them as this might reduce their profit margin by a huge amount. Geo Kahani and Urdu 1 which airs almost 90% foreign content will be in big trouble now!

There are mixed views about the new policy to increase taxes. Here are a few comments posted by various people on Facebook:

photo(130)

“Now that is a big step to protect our culture, this tax should increase every year”

“They were buying them cheap now they will have to spend money. I hope this tax is strictly enforced”

“Stupid decision, you can’t restrict the right of people to entertainment, they will watch what they like…”

“The sad part is that that tax generated will not be used to support and promote our industry…. sorry for being pessimistic but that is how it works”

“But why to promote foreign dramas on Pakistani channels? Our industry is full of talent! Fine you can’t restrict anybody choices if they want to see these shows but it is better if they enjoy through other sources of course. Not acceptable on Pakistani channels!”

“Thank God! Something very much needed & a sensible decision”

“No worries our channel owners are filthy rich, they will pay or they will bribe the authorities and will air those crap!”

“So happy to hear that but let’s see to what extent this policy is implemented”

“Are you kidding! How would it stop them? It is a TV channel and would happily pay the government”

I personally think this is a major step towards discouraging foreign content shown on local channels. If this new policy is effectively implemented then it may reduce the amount of foreign content on different channels. The complete removal of such foreign shows may take a while as there are some loyal viewers of foreign content.

So what do you guys think about this new policy? Will it reduce the amount of foreign content aired on different Pakistani channels?

HUM TV turns Controversial for showing ‘GAY’ Scenes!

0

The channel thats owns a bold attitude since the day of its launch, is again in news, but this time not for the intimate scenes of male and female actors but something even bigger. Thanks to the influences of the world outside and the neighboring country the most, Pakistani society is now enjoying an ease of discussing the Gay love and the Gay existence openly. The topics that were once not even discussed in homes openly are now becoming a part of entertainment industry-Openly.

If you have watched the latest episode of ‘Humnasheen’ that went on-air this Sunday, June 9th’ 13, you must be knowing what the news is all about. The drama showed Gays making love with a blurred picture, still intimate enough to guess what the channel was trying to show. Living in a Muslim Country, the audience who watched it took a notice against this and up till now PEMRA has received a lot of complaints, asking it to take right actions against the channel, which is trying to promote unethical acts within the country (as stated in the complaints).

11640_519252501451813_32095905_n

HUM TV, in response to the fingers pointed at it stated that the channel had no intentions of promoting vulgarity and the motive of letting such a scene going on air was to show the bitter reality of the society. It is not the first time that HUM TV landed up in this scenario, in fact it was before too that the channel was criticized for a drama called ‘Larki Chahie?’.

It is really indecent of media that such ideas are first implemented and then shown on screen.

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 20 – Lies Revealed!

0

So they finally fast forwarded the show and we got to see each character 10 years later. The look of all characters has been altered but I am glad they did not over do the makeover. In some shows, they make the actors look extremely artificial in an attempt to make them look old.

Shayan returned to Maleeha after she tried to commit suicide and was showing living with her for the past 10 years. I really wish he had not returned to Maleeha! Maleeha is still the same stubborn, spoiled Maleeha who thinks she owns the world and she still has the habit of doubting Shayan and keeping an eye on him all the time. Some people just never change! The two were seen constantly bickering about one issue or the other. Sometimes it would be about her suspicious nature and sometimes it would be about her not having any kids. Even after 10 years Shayan and Maleeha were not blessed with children and when I heard this only one thought occurred to me; when Shayan was blessed with a beautiful girl he did not care about her and now when he has no kids, he is coveting a child. Talk about Karma!

Rahima was shown all grown up but sadly she could not enjoy her childhood days like the rest of the children because of her disease. It was heart breaking to watch the little child suffer but I was very glad to see Bilal still being there for both Irfa and Rahima and helping them throughout the worst years of their life when they were left without support. Shayan had never looked back at them for the past 10 years and they managed very well even without his support. Bilal paid all of Rahima’s expenses for her treatment and he was the one who also gave money for Rahima’s major operation after which she would be able to lead a normal life like any other kid as she would no longer need the blood transfusions.

While Rahima’s operation was successful, Maleeha’s condition was getting worse. She was suffering from lung cancer from a long time but because of her carelessness it had spread all over her body and she was living the last few days of her life. She finally learned her lesson and was repenting and recalling all her unjust treatment with Irfa and her daughter and with all the other people in her life. She finally confessed to Shayan about her lie that she had told him all those years ago and asked Shayan to apologies to Irfa on her behalf. She told him that Irfa had never sold him to her; she had signed the divorce papers but had thrown the blank check on her face. Shayan was extremely shocked to hear this confession as he had been thinking all this time that Irfa has sold her love for money. All he could do at this point was to regret everything that he had done to Irfa and his daughter. There is just no use of regretting now Shayan! You just never deserved a great person like Irfa. She is way better off without you.

Shayan had gone abroad for Maleeha’s treatment and he comes back after her death with a sad heart and a huge burden on his conscience. Maleeha’s confession had left him restless and the guilt was so overpowering that he did not have the strength to go back to Irfa and apologize to her. Adeel Farooqui convinces him to go back as he thinks Irfa would forgive him and she might be even waiting for him. Oh please! I really hope nothing like this happen. Bilal is the best person for Irfa as he had been there for her through thick and thin. Irfa should just kick Shayan out of her house if he goes back because this is what he deserves.

The show is nearing towards its end and I am waiting to see what the climax would be. Would Irfa forgive and accept Shayan back In her life?

Men’s Fashion That Makes No Sense

0

Men have as much of a right to be fashionable as women. This is the reason why men are also a very active a part of our fashion industry. But shouldn’t there be a difference between the kind of fashion men and women do? Sometimes you see men in our fashion shows wearing things that have nothing to do with their gender. Showing creativity is one thing but why do these fashion designers forget that some things look totally absurd. I understand that men can wear jewelry that is specifically designed for them. I am all for men wearing bright colors too but since when is it okay and fashionable for men to wear duppatta. Well, not only duppattas but also garlands of flowers that are specifically meant for females. Apart from that there is also no difference between the kind of jewelry the men and the women usually wear in these fashion shows.
Our Fashions shows do not represent our society or culture in any way even when it comes to the kind of clothes that the women wear. There is more skin than actual clothes. We hardly ever see any of the women actually wearing these clothes that are exhibited in fashion shows in real life but I guess the eccentricity and boldness of the female side of the fashion industry has gradually been accepted by people. There is more tolerance and less criticism.

men's fashion5

Tolerance is a good thing but now are we expected to tolerate and accept this strange aspect of men’s fashion which makes no sense whatsoever. There is news that for the first time in Pakistan, there will be a Men’s Fashion Week this year at the end of August. I am actually dreading the sort of things that we will get to see in these shows. Duppattas, garlands, anklets, what is next? The truth of the matter is that male models have to fight a very hard battle to survive in the industry. This is the reason that very few of them have been able to make a name for themselves. One of the top Pakistani male models Nomi Qamar in his interview to NewsLine confessed that, “some of the stylist and photographers share the young male models as ‘gifts’ with each other”. But he also adds that it is something very common all around the world so it should not be considered a big deal.

men's fashion 1

I find it difficult to believe that some male model will gladly out of his own will dress up like a woman and walk on the ramp but it is happening. We are slowly thinning the differences between genders, not in a good way but in a bad way. As a society we are always debating that whether men and women should have equal rights or not. Now the new debate is that is it okay for men to wear women’s clothes and accessories? It seems very wrong to me. What is your opinion?
