Resham’s Zakat Distribution Event turned into a battlefield-See Video

0

Ramadan is a month of blessings where all the Muslims fast to seek closeness of Allah and it is this month only which holds the maximum reward of doing charity to share your wealth with the needy and suffering ones of the society.

Like many other Muslims, Pakistani actress Resham also takes out a part of her wealth as Zakat and share the money with the junior artists of her own industry. She has been doing so since years but unfortunately, this year the event turned out to be a different experience where some aged-women started fighting over the share in the event and resulted in a real coos. The event turned into a battlefield as people rushed over one another to grab their hands on Zakat money. Adding more to this, even the lack of management also made things worse. Avoiding further wicked situation, Resham had no other option but to escape from the place from backstage, leaving the candidates empty hands.

resham1

Film star Resham is one of those few celebrities who love to aid the suffering ones of the society and is always up for a good cause. She has been visiting Shaukat Khanum Memorial hospital to spend time with cancer patients and out of good-will and human care. She also annually holds such events to make a difference in the lives of junior artists who hardly earn enough to meet their livings.

See Filmstar Resham’s Zakat Distribution Ceremony Exclusively with ARY News Lahore here.

Although the event turned into a total mess, we still appreciate her ideology.

Share your views and let us know what more shall our celebrities should do to play their role for the betterment of society rather than just coming on live shows and talking senseless.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 14 – Ashiya’s Entry!

0

This week’s episode was beyond depressing! Maryam was on top of this world when her daughter Ashiya was born and Zayaan came to meet her in the hospital in high spirits. Her relationship with Zayaan had been strained for the past few months and she was happy to see that Ashiya became the reason for the change in Zayaan’s attitude towards her. But sadly, the change in his attitude did not last for long.

photo(188)

Nusrat wanted Zayaan to know about the birth of his daughter as late as possible so that Maryam would be kept waiting at the hospital but her plan was unsuccessful as Amna called him and informed him about the good news, and he immediately rushed to the hospital. After her first plan failed, she quickly thought of a new plan. As soon as Zayaan came home, she started her melodrama about ‘not being told about her grand daughter earlier’ and asked him to bring Maryam to their house immediately.

Afshah and Nusrat’s treatment with Maryam after she came home was just terrible, I could not help but pity Maryam’s situation. Nusrat was taking such good care of her daughter while Maryam was neglected and nobody bothered about her health. Maryam was ordered by her mother-in-law to start working as soon as she came home from the hospital. Nusrat simply showed no pity towards Maryam even when she saw that all the work is taking a toll on her health. Nobody was even ready to offer her some help; when she asked Afshah to take care of Ashiya for a little while, she rudely told her that she cannot handle Arij and Ashia at the same time. Even when she went to Afshah’s room to see Afshah’s son Arij for the first time, she made it clear that she was not welcomed there. On top of that, Nusrat also did not forget to taunt Maryam about coming to meet Arij for the first time empty handed.

Khurram’s whole family came to Zayaan’s house for dinner to congratulate him on the birth of his daughter and while everybody was playing with and praising Ashiya, Maryam was standing nearby and enjoying the scene until Afshah told her to go and serve dinner. Maryam desperately wanted to be part of the celebration and she looked longingly at them from afar with tears in her eyes.

photo(189)

There was absolutely no expectation from Nusrat that she would take care of Maryam, but Zayaan should have at least thought about Maryam’s health. Maryam was busy looking after the house the whole day and then she used to be up all night because of Ashiya. If this was not enough, she was also given the responsibility of Arij when Afshah was unwell. She just looked wishfully at Khurram when she saw how he took care of Arij and was up because of him the whole night so that Afshah could rest. Her case was just the opposite; when she fell asleep because she was unwell, Zayaan accused her of not taking care of his daughter well because she did not want a child in the first place. Her words hurt Maryam a lot but she knew that there was no point saying anything to Zayaan to convince him of her innocence.

Instead of understanding her situation and taking care of her, Zayaan constantly blamed her for being careless and when she got extremely sick, he even got angry at her for not telling him about her deteriorating health! She then clearly told him that she had no time to look after herself because she had so many responsibilities and even this offended him. Everything that Maryam says or does now offends him, thanks to the brain washing done by Nusrat. The only thing good in the episode was that Zayaan is no longer paying any attention to Faiza.

The preview for the next episode is pretty shocking as it is a twist I did not expect. I really hope nothing happens to Ashiya because of Maryam’s condition. Let’s see what happens next!

Till then!

Drama Serial Kadurat’s official photoshoot!

0

The drama most awaited has finally made its way to the heart of the viewers and with its first episode been on air, the drama-lovers have found their next venture to stick with. Replacing ‘Tanhai’ on Wednesdays, ‘Kadurat’ is a different story which is been written by Zoha Hassan and directed by Aabis Raza. Just like most of the Hum TV projects, even this one too belongs to the Moomal Productions and probably this is one of the major reasons that we see the cream actors being a part of this drama. The cast of the drama is enough to drag a considerable audience which loves to see actors like Sanam Saeed, Omal Sheikh, Imran Aslam, Deepak Perwani, Angeline Malik, Nida, Junaid Khan and Adnan Jaffer.

The drama highlights the agony of a girl whose father remarries after the death of her mother and her step-mother, along with her two children, enters in her house and life. The second mother however isn’t shown as a typical step-mother but Meera is really not willing to watch her replacing her mother in her father’s life. Giving a hard time to the entire family, Meera’s conduct forces her father to send her to a hostel where she really experiences a hard time as being away from her home.

Coming towards the characters of the drama, it was really amazing to find that the child artists have done a great job and even their getups are been done closely to give them a touch of the celebrities they would turn into on-screen.

Here are a few high quality pictures that are been revealed as official clicks of the drama.

Have a look!

Kadurat Episode 01 – A Good Start

0

After watching the promos and reading the synopsis of the story of Kadurat online, I guess we all had a fair idea what we were in for. For me Sanam Saeed and Deepak Perwani in particular had to be the key reason for looking forward to this show. Besides that the promos seemed very enticing, mainly because they made it look like this was going to be a very happening play! I haven’t watched another play written by Zoha Hassan, so I am not sure what to expect, which actually is a good feeling. The play has been directed by Aabis Raza – the same director who has directed Kankar. Apart from Kankar, he has directed many other plays as well for instance Zard Mausam and Mujhe Roothne Na Dena.

kadurat 1

One thing that I wasn’t expecting at all was that the first episode actually reminded me of Zard Mausam quite a lot – yes the circumstances of this particular household are world apart but the fact that the same child star who played Aimen is playing the character of Meena brought back a lot of memories because the two characters are very similar. The only difference is that the father’s attitude is completely different towards her daughter in this particular play.

kadurat 2

Kadurat is the story of Mahmood’s (Deepak Perwani) household. Mahmood had a happy, stable life until his wife Zainab (Zhalay Sarhadi) passed away in an accident. We didn’t find out just how much time has elapsed since his wife passed away but it seemed like she died only recently. Mahmood marries another woman (Angeline Malik) mainly because he needs someone to look after his daughter. His second wife had an abusive husband who never trusted her and he divorced her over a petty issue. She has two kids Asad (Fazal Hussain) and Aleena (Yashal Nadeem) and as his second wife points out she got married to Mahmood only because of “zarurat”. Mahmood’s daughter Meena is not willing to accept her step mother and siblings; she turns violent and resorts to all kinds of mischievous tactics to get the kids and the mother out of her house. Meena’s father never even told her before bringing this new family in the house and it was quite evident that Meena is not ready for such a big change. I definitely hold the father’s wrong decision partially responsible for the outcome. She was very fond of her mother and would not allow any other woman to take her place. Mahmood finds it very difficult to deal with this complicated situation especially because Meena’s behavior goes from bad to worse. Her step mother also tries her utmost to deal with the situation in an apt manner but Meena turns into a stubborn child who won’t listen to any amount of reasoning. Her greatest fear is that “these people” will take her father away from her and that fear is going to come true in the next episode. She is too young to understand that it is her own behavior that will lead to what is coming ahead. The preview of the next episode showed that Mahmood decides to send Meena to the hostel.

kadurat 3

Mahmood’s inability to deal with the situation was actually quite relatable. Women are far better at dealing with children than men. Overall, this first episode was well directed and very well acted out. All the child stars in particular did an outstanding job but I do feel for the child star playing Meena because this young girl is so talented but the producers seem to be typecasting her.I especially noticed the way the flashbacks were shown in black and white , that added a good effect to the overall feel of this first episode. I really liked the fact that the story starts from Meena’s childhood, that way the viewers will understand better why Meena is the way she is. Having said that Meena’s character is a little on the extreme side, I wish we could have seen a gradual worsening of behavior as opposed to this evil child who has actually been raised by two very good hearted people. I know that something so tragic as a mother’s sudden death can be very disturbing for a child and he or she can react in any possible manner but even then Meena’s character did seem a little unbelievable since she wasn’t always so evil. Meena, even with all her negativity seemed like a child who wanted attention and did not know what to do to fill the void in her life that was left by her mother’s demise.

Did you watch the first episode of Kadurat? Share your views about it. I am really looking forward to Sanam Saeed’s “entry” in the next episode and all the drama that will ensue!

The Most Promising Newcomers

0

It has been quite a while since I made a list of talented newcomers in the television industry because honestly speaking many of the newcomers in the industry lately seemed to be more disappointing than promising. Things have change in the past few months though, there are a few new actors and actresses who have greatly impressed many with their acting skills and sometimes it is difficult to tell that they are newbies. Here is a list of newcomers who are very talented and are sure to go a long way.

1. Sanam Jung

Sanam Jung is just plain adorable; seeing her on screen is always refreshing. I admit that there are times when her acting can leave a lot to be desired for but there are also times when she completely steals the show. Dil-e-Muztar is Sanam’s first television play but she has been associated with the world of showbiz for many years now. Sanam Jung does need to polish her acting skills more but for a newbie she is doing a great job. I am sure all she needs to do is to work with a few good directors and she will be one of the most sought after actresses around. You know what I really like about this girl – her confidence and of course her beautiful smile. Sanam Jung seems like a go-getter and I honestly believe that the right attitude can take anyone a long way. She is full of energy and vibrant, I especially noticed that when she hosted the Zindagi Gulzar Hai special show.

 sanam jung

2. Mira Sethi

Yes Natasha is very annoying! Probably one of the most annoying and negative characters that we have seen on screen in a long time but the fact that we hate her so much goes to prove that the actress Mira Sethi who is playing this character is doing a brilliant job. I have to say that there have been many times when I have sided with Natasha’s character and tried defending her outrageous behavior only because I love the actress. It is difficult to tell that Silvatein is Mira Sethi’s first play because she is performing so well. I hope that we will be seeing more of Mira Sethi very soon and I also hope the next time around she does something completely different.

 mira

3. Mukarram Kaleem

Mukarram Kaleem started his acting career from the play Aik Nayee Cinderella but for me he really stands out in the play Aunn Zara. Mukarram Kaleem plays the Leading character’s best friend Manzar. The two friends are very close to one another so Manzar’s character is an important one in the show. Acting comes very naturally to this young man, he has the confidence to face the camera and his body language and expressions are just perfect. Will we be seeing Mukarram Kaleem in comedy roles only in the future too? I hope not, I hope we see him in more diverse roles.

mukaram kaleem

4. Suniya Shamshad

Suniya is not a newcomer in the strict sense of the word but Rehaii proved to be the first break through for her. Suniya proved that if she works with a good director and a strong script, she has very good potential. She is unquestionably another actress who is likely to go a long way if given the opportunity.

rehaii

5. Sundus Tariq

I have Sundas Tariq act in Hamnasheen and in Maan Ke Moti, she has completely different roles in both the plays but she does complete justice to both of them. She deserves to get meatier roles in the future so that she can prove her talent further.

hamnasheen3

Would you like to add any other names to the list? Are there any other new actors who you think have a lot of potential? Feel free to add to the list.

Mira Sethi’s Interview Published in a Magazine

0

Mira Sethi who made her debut in the field of acting as Natasha in drama serial Silvetien is now enjoying a significant limelight for her acting skills. Being the daughter of a senior journalist Najam Sethi who happened to be the former (caretaker) chief minister of Punjab, Mira is too fond of writing and is a known editor and writer. Her acting in her debut drama is highly appreciated by the drama-lovers who love to hate her as Natasha these days. Mira has truly given her role all what it needed.

Silvatein is an on-going drama serial on ARY which revolves around two sisters, Zaib and Natasha and the mixed feelings the two always had for one another. Natasha, who was always overshadowed by her elder sister, starts hating her and wants to get rid of her existence in her life but destiny plays even meeker and Zaib is married to Natasha’s brother-in-law.

Mira has done a fabulous job and though she portrays a negative character on-screen, audience can still not neglect what a wonderful actress she is. It was only last week that her exclusive interview was published in a magazine where she shared all about herself and answered all what her fans always wanted to know.

Here are the clips of Interview taken. Have a look!

The Most Lovable On-Screen Couples

0

What makes an on-screen couple melt your heart and sizzle the screen? In my opinion the success of any on-screen couple is due to two reasons, firstly the chemistry between the pair and secondly the script. The script makes a big difference because even if the chemistry is mind blowing but the dialogues and the story does not click to the audience than the couple’s good chemistry may not prove to be any good. A classic example is that of Amna and Urooj from Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley, the viewers were drooling over the couple because their love was portrayed wonderfully but then when Amna fell in love with the villain, Urooj’s character was reduced to a caricature and things took a spiral turn. Some couples don’t have the perfect ending but their entire journey all through the play is so touching that the viewers love them till the end. Here is a list of couples from recent times who have blown away the audience, they are the on-screen couples who will be remembered forever.

Mansoor and Shehwar

Mansoor and Shehwar’s characters were played impeccably by Meekal Zulfiqar/ Mohammad Qavi and Sanam Baloch/Samina Peerzada. What was about this couple that set it apart from rest of the on-screen couples of recent times? I think that it was that their misunderstandings and problems were very real and the love that ensued later on was very inspiring. To me, Mansoor and Durr-e-Shehwar’s story was the most amazing love story of recent times. I can never forget the last scene of the final episode and the dialogues. Mansoor and Durr-e-Shehwar in young and old age both melted my heart, I will never forget them.

 mlc1mlc3

Asher and Khirad

These two need absolutely no introduction; Hamsafar was a hit only because Asher and Khirad bowled people over by their innocent love. Both the characters were shaped out faultlessly; also the chemistry between these two was unparalleled. It is also a fact that the good looks were a big factor that contributed to the success of this couple. Ever since Hamsafar has ended people have been dying to see this couple together again on-screen. The story of Hamsafar was not outstanding, I think that the only reason it was such a huge success was because of Sarmad Khoosat’s stupendous direction and the chemistry between the leading pair.

 mlc5

Bano and Hassan

Bano and Hassan never had their happy ending but it is also true that Dastaan was not a love story. Bano’s character essentially portrayed ever single person in the subcontinent which had fought hard to acquire a piece of land for the Muslims. Bano’s expectations from this land of pure reflected the hopes of many Muslims at that time. Even though Dastaan was the story of the freedom struggle in the subcontinent but Bano and Hassan were the central characters in the story. Their love was pure and the chemistry between Fawad Khan and Sanam Baloch set the screen on fire. In the end when Bano and Hassan did not get married, many of the viewers were very disappointed. Many people thought that the ending was heartbreaking. Many of the Bano/Hassan fans have also shown their wish to see the same lead pair again too.

 mlc2

Aabi and Haniya

Ah! I can never forget Aabi and Haniya, their romance was a fairytale without a doubt which ended with a grave tragedy. Adeel Hussain and Sarwat Gillani looked very cute together. Aabi was the perfect fairytale hero; he showered Haniya with all the love and care in the world. Some people thought that their love was too cheesy but I thought it was very sweet.

 mlc7

Serena and Kishmish

I must confess that there wasn’t much that I liked about Tanhaiyaan Nayee Silsilay. The only reason I kept on watching the play till the end was Serena’s character and later on the sugary love that blossomed between Kishmish and Serena. The scene in which Kishmish proposes Serena was out of this world and their romance was very cute. Out of all the plays that I have seen recently, Serena and Kishmish are the ones who stand out for me. Syra Yousuf and Shehroz Sabzwari got married when the play was on air. The real life wedding pictures added to the love I felt for this on-screen couple.

mlc8mlc9

This looks like a very pro Hum TV list but that wasn’t intentional at all. Which were the couples in the recent dramas which you found most lovable? Do share.

Actress Meera is done with her Certified English Course from Canada!

0

Pakistan is a country which owns Urdu as its national language, where english is also one of the major languages and is officially used in judiciary, legislature and education. Despite of the constant press on the significance of the language, there are about 60% of the population which cannot speak english and as a matter of fact, the said issue is no more considered as a flaw. In our entertainment industry, however, speaking english is an added charm for the celebrities and who are not good at it try to either hide it as their weakness or try to learn it.

Meera1

The most controversial one in this matter, Meera, has recently completed her two months certified english course from Canada and will be getting her certificate in coming weeks. She, who had been criticized for her wrong english most of the time repeatedly have said in different shows that though she didn’t know how to speak english, she still wants to learn the language. Now that she has done all what she could for the learning process, there are people and her fans especially who are delighted with the news. According to the latest reveals, the actress recently attended a fashion show in Lahore and while she was questioned about it, she answered media confidently in english which was quite smooth.

IND1777A.JPG

It is so rightly said that there is no age limit specified to learn and Meera has proved it.

With she, even we hope that media will spare her now and will no more be making her wrong english a fun.

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 20 – Silah’s Dilemma!

0

As the show is nearing towards it end, the curiosity amongst the viewers is riding higher. This week’s episode was based on Silah’s dilemma; she did know what to believe and what path to choose. On one hand, Adeel’s confession about his love for her is ringing in her ears and on the other hand, Safeena is emotionally blackmailing her to sign the divorce papers. There is no doubt that Safeena has the best interest at heart but she just cannot understand how hard it is for Silah to take such a huge step.

Silah’s inner turmoil is making her uneasy so she turns to the only person she can confide in in such a complex situation. Ahmer’s baba is very close to Silah’s heart and she goes to him to discuss her problem and take his advice. When she came to his house out of the blue, he understood that something was wrong and when Silah explained him the situation, he gave her true and unbiased advice. Even though he desperately wants Silah to marry Ahmer, he refused to talk to Safeena about it because she would pressurize Silah and she might make the decision that would make her unhappy. Baba told Ahmer clearly that he needs to talk to Silah directly and let her make the final decision.

It is just astonishing to see this new side of Ahmer, even Silah was taken aback by his boldness. When he saw her in his house making coffee in the kitchen, he hinted how happy he was to see her in his house. Silah definitely knows how to deal with such an awkward situation; she just smiles and changes the topic so that Ahmer would not get offended.

 photo(180)

Sami apologized to Adeel for Nabeela’s behavior and clearly told him that the only person who truly deserves his explanation is Silah and Adeel finally gathered courage and went to Silah’s cabin to talk to her. His first attempt to talk to her turned out to be unsuccessful as Silah rudely told him that she is busy. Adeel, however, does not give up and goes up to her cabin again the very next day and this time he remains stubborn when she refuses to talk to him and they finally talk about what happened about 5 years ago. Their misunderstanding did not clear because Silah did not let him explain and ordered him to ‘get out’. Adeel had kept his ego aside for the first time in his life and initiated the conversation with Silah. He even admitted to her that marrying Zoya was the worst decision of his life (Isn’t it too late to realize this Adeel?) and he never loved her but Silah cannot forget what she saw with her own eyes on the day of Affan’s death and for her all that Adeel says is a complete lie. In this way, I doubt their misunderstanding will ever get cleared!

dm 01

Zoya’s mother is again filing her ears with total nonsense. They think if Adeel apologizes to Silah, she might promote him to a higher position in her office. How pathetic! She even tells Zoya to go to Silah’s office and apologize to her and according to the preview for the next episode; this is exactly what she does. As if Silah does not have enough problems to deal with already!

dm 02Adeel sudden interest in Silah’s welfare was very surprising. He gave up the pretense of being ‘formal’ and spoke to her like he genuinely cared. Silah just chose to ignore his words and acted like she was least bothered. But as soon as she comes home, she could help but recall Adeel’s words and she was still struggling to make the biggest decision of her life, that is whether to sign the divorce papers or not. She even recalled Affan’s words when she asked him what he wants as a gift, and he replied that he wants his ‘papa’. The innocent demand from the small child left her shocked and speechless and the decision to leave Adeel got even harder.

The last scene where she picks up the divorce papers left us all in suspense. Will Silah finally sign the papers? Well, we would need to wait till next week to find out!

Share your opinion about the episode! Should Silah sign the divorce papers?

The man whose career has taken a huge move, an actor who was first seen doing supporting roles in movies like Action replayy and guzaarish is now one of the most followed newcomers of Bollywood industry. Iram Parveen Bilal To Cast Shahrukh Khan in her next Film?

0

It is certainly a pleasure to see our Film industry reviving and truly, the credit goes to the filmmakers like Sharmeen Obaid, Sarmad Khoosat, Shoaib Mansoor and Iram Parveen Bilal who have not only entertained the local audience with their work, but have also earned respect, fame and recognition in world outside. Iram Parveen Bilal is one of those realistic filmmakers who pick issues audience can relate with. Her upcoming movie ‘Josh’ has already created enough of hype and will be making its way to cinemas this eid. The promos have gone on-air and have received applause by the audience.

What has stirred the showbiz industry again is a news that Iram Parveen Bilal is now working on her next project which she expects to do even a better job than Josh and to complement the script which is still under the process, Iram has announced that her upcoming movie will require more budget than that of Josh’s. Making it more eye-catching, it has been heard that Iram is considering to sign Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and as it is, the script has been written keeping in view Shahrukh to be doing the lead role. Although the officials and her spokesmen have not denied the news, it is still not confirmed whether Shahrukh will be making it up for the movie or not.

Untitled

For now, Iram Parveen is hopeful and excited about the launch of ‘Josh’ which is a story of a liberal girl who takes a step against the feudals and rituals that are a part of the tribal areas of Pakistan.

Let us see how things turn for Iram Parveen Bilal,

Natural Beauties Of Our Television Industry

0

There are many beautiful and attractive actresses in our television industry but it is also a fact that not all of them are natural beauties. Some of them look good only when they wear a lot of make up and many others have undergone plastic surgeries as well. I would like to point out the names of those actresses here who are natural beauties, this doesn’t mean that there are prettier than all others in the industry but it means that they look good even if they don’t wear very heavy make-up.

Mahira Khan

Mahira is one of the very few actresses who actually wears very little make-up and still looks good. In fact she has the sort of face that will probably not look that good with too much make-up. Take for instance these picture, Mahira was the brand ambassador for some cosmetic company so she wore heavy make up (the first picture) but in my opinion the natural look suits her much more.

mahiramahira1mahira

Ayesha Omer

Ayesha Omer also looks great in a casual look. Even if she wears no make up at all, she looks cute. The fair skin makes a big difference and she has cute features too. We don’t usually see Ayesha wearing tons of eye shadow or with very made-up hair in most of her dramas but she looks lovely nevertheless.

aysha omeraysha 2

Alishba Yousuf

I think Alishba looked her best in Ek Nazar Meri Taraf because she wore minimal make-up especially in the later half of the play. Alishba is most certainly one of those actresses who actually don’t look good in heavy make-up. A little foundation, mascara and lip gloss and this beauty is good to go! Her features are almost perfect too so there is no need for contouring.

alishbaalishba 2

Juggan Kazim

I know Juggan does not fall in the category of a typical Pakistani beauty but she is cute and looks just as good in absolutely no make-up look as she does in a lot of make-up. I have seen her many times in real life too, she looks a lot younger in real life than she does on screen and is equally pretty.

juggan1

Zeba Bakhtiar

Although Zeba Bakhtiar is much older than the actresses I mentioned above but she definitely falls in the same category. She is also one of those actresses who actually look better with very little make-up than with a lot of make up. She has a glowing skin and very cute features.

zeba

Sanam Baloch

I have never liked Sanam Baloch in a lot of make-up, it makes her look a lot older than her age. On the other hand she looks adorable in a little make-up because she has a naturally cute face which does not require much decorating.

sanam3sanam2sanam1

Samina Peerzada

Samina Peerzada is an ageless beauty. Her beautiful features combined with her brilliant acting skills still make her a show stealer. She gets just as much praise for her work as any leading actresses who people love. This list would be incomplete without her.

samina peerzada

Ayza Khan

I saw two episodes of Ghalti Se Mistake Ho Gayee, Ayza is wearing excessive make-up in that sitcom and it does not suit her at all. She looked great in Kahi Unkahi and Zard Mausam in which she had a more natural look. Ayza also has one of those faces that actually look better with less make-up.

ayza1ayza2

Syra Yousuf

Syra Yousuf is hip and trendy. Her style is very casual and it suits her very well. I have never liked Syra in outrageous hairdos or red lipsticks. She carries the natural look much more nicely, she has very pretty hair which do not need a lot of work. Like many of the actresses in this list she is not a classic beauty like she does not have big eyes or a sharp nose etc but she is very cute and very stylish.

There are many actresses in our industry who look great in make-up. Amina Sheikh is the prime example, no one looks as great in make-up as she does because the make-up completely transforms her. Do you agree with the list? Feel free to disagree. Also add to the list if you think there are other actresses who fall in this category.

Top 7 VJ turned Actresses!

0

Our Industry is full of talent that is waiting to be explored and this is the reason that the ultimate destination for every singer, Video Jokey (VJ), Radio Jokey (RJ), anchor is acting. Some have turned out to be a major hit while some have just vanished after their first show. The most appreciated lot so far is of the VJ turned actresses. Here is the list of the Top 7 VJ turned actresses:

1

Mahira Khan:

mahira khan

Mahira Khan had started her career as a VJ on MTV Pakistan and her LIVE show was one of the highest rated shows on MTV. She also hosted the show ‘Weekends with Mahira’ on Aag TV. She got her first break as an actress from the movie ‘Bol’ which was directed by Shoaib Mansoor. I remember seeing the movie and saying ‘She needs to learn how to act’. Then Neeyat went on air and my only thought was ‘She really needs to go back to being a VJ, acting is just not her thing’. But her next show bowled everyone over, her drastic improvement was astonishing and we all know which show that was! She recently won the ‘Best Actress Award – Satellite’ for Humsafar in LSA 2013 and the ‘Best Actress’ for Shehr-e-Zaat in Hum TV Awards. After Humsafar, she was even better in Shehr-e-Zaat where she played a totally different character from all her previous shows. So yes, she tops my list!

2

Mawra Hocane:

mawra

Mawra Hocane started her career as a VJ on ATV Pakistan. She then started appearing in advertisements and was also seen in small roles in different television shows. She finally got her big break from the show ‘Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai’ where she was seen in a parallel lead and played a negative character. After that she appeared in one popular show after the other. The best quality about her is that she can play both a negative and positive character to perfection and this is the reason why she comes second in my list. She can easily mould herself into the innocent character that she played in ‘Ik Tamanna Lahasil Si’ and ‘Main Guneghar Nahi’ or the extremely negative character in ‘Mera Harjai’ and ‘Yahan Pyar Nahi Hai’. She has proved her acting skills in a very short time.

3

Alishba Yousuf:

alishab yousuf

Alishba started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and then made her debut as an actress from the show ‘Chaand Pe Dastak’. She was, however, noticed for the first time in the serial ‘Main Abdul Qadir Hoon’. Her performance in this show was below average and I could not see a bright future ahead of her but she surprised everyone with her performance in ‘Ek Nazar Meri Taraf’. I was amazed at her improvement and I started looking forward to more of her work after that. Her phenomenal performance in her last two shows ‘Tanhaiyan-Naye Silsilay’ and ‘Mere Dard Ko Zuban Mile’ has managed to awe the audiences.

4

Sanam Jung:

sanam jung

Sanam started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and debuted as an actress from the show ‘Dil-e-Muztar’. Sanam Jung comes 4th in my list of the Top 7 VJs. Why? Because amongst all the people in this list, she has made the best debut. Usually actors perform poorly in their first serial but she has performed like an experienced actor in her very first show. I have great expectation from her in the future!

5

Syra Yousuf:

syra yousuf

Syra was initially seen as a VJ on MTV Pakistan and later she moved towards acting and was seen in a major role in the popular show ‘Mera Naseeb’ which turned out to be a hit. Her acting in her first serial can be considered as average but with each passing show her performance became better. Her roles in ‘Bilquees Kaur’ and ‘Tanhaiyaan-Naye Silsilay’ were liked and appreciated by everyone.

6

Urwa Hocane:

urwa

Urwa started her career as a VJ on Ary Musik and gained popularity in a very short time. She debuted as an actress from the show ‘Meri Ladli’ which became a huge hit. After that there was no stopping her, she came in one show after the other and proved herself as an actress. In most of her serials she has played negative roles but now she has slowly becoming more versatile. She is now doing a comedy sitcom called ‘Namak Paray’ and another show called ‘Aik Pagal Si larki’ and it is refreshing to see her in new roles.

7

Naveen Waqar:

naveen waqar

Naveen Waqar started her career with the live music request show, “Pick and Choose with Fuse” on Aag TV. Not many people know that she started her career as an actor from a Tele film ‘Ab Set Hai’ but she got noticed by audiences by her negative role in Humsafar. Her role as ‘Sara’ in Humsafar was very well received by the audiences as she had done an excellent for a new comer. Her role in ‘Ainie Ki Ayegi Barat’ was also liked by the audiences.

Feel free to add to the list and do share your opinion about the ranking!

Writhe – A Spectacular Art Film

0

Armeena Rana Khan may be a new comer in Pakistan but she has already made her mark abroad with her short film called ‘Writhe’ which was shown in Cannes Film Festival this year in May. It was a huge honor for the whole team of Writhe for their film to get selected at Cannes. It received quite a response from the Hollywood’s most elite crowd. The director, Sharaz Ali was also approached by stars like the Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and James Franco (known for his work in the Spiderman franchise) and he got a chance to have a little chat with them, which was a truly wonderful experience for him.

Recently, there was a private screening held in London and those who attended the screening got to meet the cast and crew, and got an opportunity to ask questions from the whole team. Fox News and ARY UK covered the event and took exclusive interviews from the star cast. The screening turned out to be a huge success and the film was appreciated by everyone present at the screening.

writhe 5

Armeena looked gorgeous in a funky yet classy attire at the screening. Here is a click of Armeena with Sharaz Ali from the screening:

writhe 9

Writhe is a short film directed by Sharaz Ali and features Armeena Rana Khan and Geoff Cooper as the leads. The story revolves around a woman who is abused and mutilated by her boyfriend and this turns her into a cold and forbidding woman and we get to see a pure evil side of her. Her thirst for seeking revenge is so strong that innocent victims become her target and her thirst is only quenched by taking their lives.

And here is a screen shot from the movie:

writhe 10

Since it is an Art film, it is unique and independent and aimed at a niche market rather than the mass audiences. Sharaz Ali once said in an interview that he entered Writhe in the Cannes Film Festival at the very last minute and did not have any high hopes but he was absolutely thrilled to find out that his film had been selected.

Armeena is a Canadian based actress who started her career with modeling and then turned to acting as a hobby but now she has made a successful career out of it. She is currently seen in Shab-e-Arzoo ka Aalam and Happily Married and there are more of her projects in the pipeline.

The unfortunate part is that the people the short film will not be officially released in Pakistan because of Writhe’s different story and unique concept which may not appeal to the audiences here. The concept of art films is new to the audiences here and Writhe might not get the praise or the appreciation that it deserves. According to the director, if things work out the film might be released online.

According to the latest buzz, Armeena Rana Khan will be seen in another short film called ‘Echoes through Eternity’. It will be directed by BAFTA nominated director Aneel Ahmed. This short film is due to be released in 2014. After such a huge success of her first short film, it is not surprising to know that she had been approached by big directors and is quite in demand nowadays. We hope to see her climbing higher on the ladder of success as time passes.

We wish her all the best for her future!

Lavishness In Iftar Special Shows

0

Like all other TV channels Geo Television has also put together special Ramazan transmission as well. I wrote in another article as well that the special Ramazan shows do not focus on the essence of the holy month but sadly enough the ones that are designed especially for Iftar timings as well fail to impress the audience. The reason being that the hosts may appear on your TV screens and beg you to help those in need but you can’t ignore that the makers of these shows forget that Islam firstly and fore mostly is a religion which promotes simplicity. Big lavish sets that look more like palaces speak volumes of the hypocrisy of the people who sit in them and talk about Islam. Not only this but the people who conduct the shows do not refrain from wearing heavy make up. Even a person with very little common sense can see the materialistic approach of most of these hosts. Does Islam allow men to wear make up, even if it is for television? When the people who are behind these shows and those who are conducting these shows cannot follow the very basic rules of Islam, how can they expect people to take them seriously?

We see dramas and shows all through the year in which all these channels show just how many finances they have so if they didn’t opt for impressing the audience with the glitz and glam in these special Ramazan shows it will only be appreciated.

Doesn’t glamorizing these Ramazan shows mean that we are promoting the wrong image of Islam? Why can’t we promote simplicity and modesty through these shows? These shows are fast becoming a part of the rat race too – who has the best set and who gets the more TRPs!

After all it is show business; therefore our TV channels fail to leave the “showing” part aside or more of showing off part aside. How many of you want to see lavish sets as part of these Iftar and Sehr transmissions? Wouldn’t more people be happier if we see more simple settings? Do the lavish sets and the expensive décor seem in line with basic Islamic teachings? Do you think that these Ramazan shows hosts and hostesses should tone down on their make up? I most certainly think that it doesn’t. They focus too much on their looks which at least for me is very off-putting.

Kankar Episode 7 – Faiqa’s Plan Backfires!

0

The turn of events in today’s episode was totally unexpected. Faiqa’s plan completely backfired, even after all her “efforts” to ensure that Kiran does not get married to Sikandar, the result was quite contrary to her expectations. Faiqa did her homework well no doubt but she was obviously not expecting Sikandar’s parents to go to Kiran’s house with the proposal for a second time. Jamal’s decision to accept the proposal was a consequence of Irim’s enagemnts breaking off and Faiqa’s direct involvement in the whole issue. That of course was not the sole reason because of which Jamal accepted the proposal; he also feels that Sikandar will prove to be a good husband. Ayesha’s fears that Faiqa and Shaista haven’t expected Kiran as Sikandar’s wife and that would create problems for her daughter may just be prove to be true very soon.

kankar1

The addition of Kiran’s friend in the drama is definitely a good one; she is the voice of reason. I totally agree with her; Kiran is not duty bound to please Arzoo or anyone else after everything that has transpired between the two families. Her advice to Kiran was spot on; Kiran really should think about what her parents want now and stop trying to please Arzoo because that may just prove to be an impossible feat.

Sikandar takes a U turn once the marriage is finalized which goes to show that to him his happiness comes before everything else. I must add here that I really like Sikandar’s father’s character; he is a very wise and fair person. I also really like Kamal’s character; he has a very high opinion of his brother despite of everything that his wife may say and is also very sensible. Both the women on the other hand are complete opposites! I couldn’t but wonder though that why did Jamal have such a low opinion of his brother. The things he said about him in the first episode went to show that for some reason he did not like him at all.

Adnan does not protest the way Sikandar does; for him his family comes before his own wishes. Rukhsar will obviously feel partially responsible for what has happened since she was the one who wouldn’t let her mother go to Kiran’s house to ask for her hand in marriage. I really enjoyed the scene in which Rukhsar gives Faiqa a piece of hee mind and Faiqa listens so patiently. The only reason she listened to Rukhsar’s rants was because she was very focused on convincing her mother!

The preview for the next episode showed that Sikandar and Kiran will finally meet face to face first time after the engagement, Sikandar asks Kiran directly if she is happy with the engagement or not – what will be Kiran’s answer? Whatever it may be I guess we all know by now that it won’t change Sikandar’s mind at all. Faiqa and her husband continuously argued all through tonight’s episode; how did they manage to stay together for all these years?

kankar2

Tonight’s episode was very well directed like always. The story has finally picked up pace and I even enjoyed all the conversations today. All the scenes were short and to the point. The aftermath of Irim’s engagement breaking off wasn’t overdone and we didn’t see Kiran crying all the time either. I have to say that Aabis Raza has put in his heart and soul to direct this project and it shows, it is nothing like few of the other plays I had previously watched which were directed by him. All the actors seem very comfortable in their respective roles and unlike I have absolutely no complaints now as far as the acting is concerned. I am definitely looking forward to the next installment.

Aunn Zara Episode 04 – Getting To Know Eachother.

0

Ohkay so those were a few minutes compiled as a complete package full of laughter & some really amusingly awkward moments. But before I proceed I must admit that I couldn’t do justice to the play by completely forgetting about the protagonists. It’s a norm that you usually tend to ignore the obvious & this is what I did by not talking at all about Osman Khalid Butt & Maya Ali. That’s only because they have done such a great job & without them Aunn Zara wouldn’t have been possible, I mean in literal sense NOT POSSIBLE, with which I put forward my confession of ignoring their characters or acting because I was like ‘c’mon we all know what they mean to us as Aunn Zara’ so I just focused on the characters other than the main ones. I hope I ain’t too late in admitting what I just realized. :D

I must say the whole episode kept me wanting for more because I can not get enough of the goofiness that too by the end of the day where you just have to relax & watch something that makes you laugh out loud actually. To me this drama is more than just that because I have always liked my entertainment a bit more on a lighter side & now when all we see is a heavy baggage of emotional roller coaster rides, this one seems really off the hook.

At first, where both the families looked really flexible & awe-inspiring in terms of their marriage & everything related to it, now look really rigid because they have moved onto the phase of ‘ghar ki murghi daal barabar‘. Zara is now their daughter-in-law & daughter who can be just ignored because no matter who she is, nothing can replace Aunn for them all, because by the end of the day Zara is a female & they have a bunch of them already but Aunn still remains the ‘iklota larka’.  During all the chaos, it’s only Husna who reads between the lines & understands the intricacies of all these new found relationships. After all, the Urdu Speaking Background & the ‘rakh rakhao’ does the trick because she has carried that all as her values, where as all the Punjabis are a bit too laid-back in this matter because they just can not pretend & can’t keep up with the courtesy Zara’s father in particular expects. I kind of find it really funny where they are so laid-back in extending any gratitude or courtesy to Jamshed Sahab, yet they are equally in fact a bit more cautious & attentive towards Aunn.

I must say it’s only OKB who makes Aunn so soo sooo cute. His expressions while resting his head on Daadi’s shoulder & telling ‘mai bathroom mai gir gaya thaw’, his ‘Ammi mujhe nahi janawwww’ is something that I just can not imagine anyone else doing it on-screen for us all. He just makes it all so real, may be because I have seen him in his candid mode & I am like so glad he kept that face on while performing Aunn for us because it just looks like he actually is Aunn & is so effortless in playing the character. There were so many moments where I just couldn’t stop laughing at how ‘nazuk’ a guy can be.

Like we all know, it’s a win win situation where the two opposites meet & here’s another story which proves it right. Zara’s all tom-boyish & is just blunt where as Aunn, no doubt being such an innocent guy, who doesn’t know how to act or react in certain (actually, most of the) matters expects Zara to treat him like a husband & his typicality makes him absolutely adorable. I believe it’s Zara’s care-free attitude which will bring Aunn out of his shell or make him grow out of getting pampered all the time. With her for sure he will understand the true meanings of independence whereas for now he believes he has fallen into another trap. Maya Ali has outdone herself as Zara because once again like others, she is effortless in portraying Zara to us too. For sure she has reached that level of comfort because you can just see-through that & it is doing the magic.

Like they say ‘a marriage doesn’t only bind two people in a relationship, it’s a relation of two clans’. Similarly, Aun Zara did get married but seems like they have taken a back-seat even when they are just ‘naye nawele dulha dulhan’ who share just a 1 day old marriage, who’re still getting to know each other but seems like it’s their families who have to settle things up way before the bride & groom because they just can not tolerate anything happening against their will.

Zara’s father is disgusted at how in-disciplined his son-in-law is whereas Daadi seems to get agitated every time Jamshed tries to swoop in trying to take Aun away from them. The whole motorbike scene & where Zara asks ‘Pupho akhir hua kya hai’ was spot on because she is still trying to understand how things related to Aunn roll in her in-laws. & one thing for sure made my head high was when Aunn enjoyed watching Tom & Jerry, another thing which I found common apart from ‘Chawwal’. I mean we all still love our Tom & Jerry & now we have gotten another reason to love it. ;) Haha!

Of all the people today, I must say it was Husna who caught my eye. She is just keeping herself busy or as we can say trying to fulfill her duties but is so welcoming to the change where she can understand the situation & takes a firm hand where needed. I kind of missed Daadi’s presence in the last episode but I am glad she was back in action. I just keep on learning that Punjabi from her & Husna’s Urdu puts me to shame. :/ That stance, that accent, that ‘thehrao’ in her dialogue delivery is just amazing.

Who actually missed Manzar this time? I must say, I did! At such a time where Aunn is completely surrounded by all these mishaps, he definitely needs Manzar to back him up & make him take a stand against his father-in-law who just wants to change everything about him. I must say I just can not wait for the next Thursday because I want to see what happens ahead. I don’t know if it’s just me or what but I feel every time I see them – Nighat & Jamshed will end up together. I know it’s too early to jump up & make such predictions but it could be just a silly guess or something spot on. Once again, it goes without saying, the direction, the screenplay, the story, the acting & all those bits & bobs that make Aunn Zara such a incredible piece deserve an applause.

Keep pouring your feedback & yes ‘RAMADAN KAREEM’.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Adhoori Aurat Episode 13 – Review

0

The episode started off on a good note as Zayaan was back to his former self. The caring and loving Zayaan was back and I loved all the scenes at the beginning of the episode. Maryam even complained about his rude and indifferent behavior towards her and Zayaan assured her that he will try to change himself now. They were both enjoying each other’s company after a long time and it was lovely to see them together again. But unfortunately, Maryam’s precious moments with Zayaan were cut short as Umair also appeared out of nowhere at the restaurant and Maryam panicked and quickly left the restaurant with Zayaan. So much for their little outing!

photo(172)

The much awaited ‘slap’ scene was brilliantly executed. After Umair got to know that Faiza was the one who told Jahanzeb about Saira and him he asked Faiza to meet him and he slapped her as soon as he saw her. The surprised expression on Faiza’s face was a treat to watch! All of a sudden Maryam had become ‘Bechari Maryam’ for Umair, he regretted what he had done to Maryam and he also told Faiza to stop making Maryam’s life miserable. Oh sure, like she will listen to you Umair!

I completely agreed with Umair when he said that Faiza likes to make up her own fantasies and when reality strikes, she cannot bear to face it. She had wanted to marry Zayaan when it was obvious that he had no interest in her but she dreamt her whole life ahead with him anyway and then she did the same thing with Umair. Umair never gave any indication that he likes her, but she imagined it all and when she got to know about Saira and Umair, she felt like Umair had betrayed her just like Zayaan had ‘betrayed’ her before. She really needs a psychiatrist! Maheen Rizvi had given her best in this show and she is the perfect choice for Faiza.

At least Maryam has one less thing to worry about now. Umair called her and apologized but sadly Maryam cut the phone before he could tell her about Faiza. Why is it that every time Nusrat brainwashes Zayaan, his ability to reason vanishes! When Nusrat complained about the gifts Maryam’s family had given to Afshah and their lack of interest in Maryam’s ‘Godh Bharai’, his attitude towards Maryam changed again. He was back to being indifferent towards her and just dumped her at her parent’s house and did not even bother to contact her after that.

AA 1.

Faiza now works in Zayaan’s office, thanks to Afshah and the growing friendship between them is nothing but alarming. Zayaan had started to ignore Maryam as he was too busy spending time with Faiza. Khurram’s family and Zayaan’s family seemed perfect together and there was just no place for Maryam there. Will she ever be able to create a place in their family?

After Afshah had a baby boy, Nusrat was expecting to hear the same news from Maryam. When Tasneem called Nusrat to inform her about the baby girl, she rudely cut the phone. She did not even inform Zayaan about the baby! Surprisingly, Afshah was happy to hear the news about the baby girl and she did not discriminate like Nusrat. Nusrat still leaves no chance to insult Maryam and I felt sorry for Maryam when they both went to the doctor and Nusrat told her that Maryam had already tried to kill the baby. That must have been humiliating for Maryam!

I really hope Zayaan would not discriminate like his mother. While Maryam was waiting at the hospital for Zayaan to come, Zayaan was even aware about his new born child. The preview for the next episode shows that things are not going to get any better for Maryam.

So guys, what are your views about the episode?

What is so special about Turkish Dramas?

0

Yes seriously, those people who are going gaga over the Turkish plays please enlighten me, what exactly is it about these plays that is so different or unique and obviously appealing that I find so many people praising these plays and of course following them. Turkish dramas have been criticized to the limit, I know that but the fact is that they have a huge fan following. I have witnessed it around me and I also know it because of the number of people who watch these dramas online. People may not have the “courage” to say outright that these dramas are great and we love them because there will be too many people “judging” them then but there is a big “silent” majority who follows these dramas. I have nothing against Turkish dramas; I am definitely not the part of the “group” that dislikes Turkish dramas solely because they are foreign! I tried watching Ishq-e-Mamnu when it went on air because practically every second person around me was talking about it, like it was something very special but I found the whole dubbing factor a huge put off and couldn’t watch it. I must confess though that based on the opinions of many people I know, I did feel like I was missing out something big.

ishq e mamno

Things have changed greatly now in the past few months, even if you don’t like something about these plays, you still ended up watching a few minutes of a Turkish play every now and then while switching channels or out of sheer curiosity because they are being aired on every single channel and also because sometimes it seems like Turkish plays are all that there is on television at a given time. I ended up watching a few episodes of these Turkish plays in bits and pieces and I think I got the gist of all the stories quite well. Most of the stories revolve around rich families with twisted morals (illegitimate children and extra marital affairs); most of the family members are very actively involved in plotting and planning, young or old.  Yes, there most certainly was a lot of plotting and conspiracies in the few episodes I watched. I watched at least two different plays in which the sisters (or the step sister) were after their Brother-in-Laws. The one on Hum TV is pretty much the same as the twisted sibling stories we see on our screens very often. One sister is holier than thou and the other one is totally opposite – she is out to ruin her sister’s life. The plotting and planning is very different from our dramas (it is much more intricate) but that is what it is. Almost all the stories revolve around married couples and families that have ugly secrets. Don’t we see all of just that in our plays too? The only difference is that the women in our plays are not dressed to kill and the houses are not so beautiful. Yes, some of these dramas proved to be visual treats but nothing more than that. There was nothing about the stories at all that made me stand up and take notice or look forward to more.

junoon tere pyar ka

My opinion is based on watching only a few episodes of some of these plays. I would really like the viewers who like Turkish plays to tell me that what is about these plays that is so different? Is it because of the different faces (I have to say some of them are very pretty!) or is it because people like the settings of the plays which are obviously different too. Is there a Turkish drama on air right now, the story of which does not revolve around family politics of rich families or extra marital affairs? I heard Fatima Gul had a different story but I didn’t watch it at all. I don’t mean to be sarcastic or critical, I am just very curious to hear what is it that the viewers like about these plays. Feel free to share your thoughts.

“I Never expected to Win”, Says Ayesha Omar!

0

Out of a few lucky ones who finally made their way to the Lux Style Awards 2013, proving themselves the best among the other nominations, it is Ayesha Omer’s achievement of presenting the ‘Best Album of the year’, Khamoshi, which is quite surprising for not only the audience only, but for herself too. The actress who has been enjoying  great fan following through her acting skills in a comedy sitcom Bulbulay, drama serial ‘Zindagi  Gulzar Hai’, and ”Tanhai’ has proved herself as a singer too by taking the best album of the year award home. According to the reveals, she got her hands on 18,377 votes that made her the most eligible contestant to win the race.

1009761_10151529387737901_374014211_n

While Ayesha was asked about how is she feeling about the success, she was clear in answering that even the award was a surprise package was her. Sharing her feelings with her followers through her Facebook page, She said:

I am extremely thrilled to have won.I worked extremely hard on this album and I guess all the hard work paid off.

This is obvious that the winning person always face criticism and Ayesha seems to take them open-handedly. She also said:

The critics don’t always understand the way the minds of the masses work. Anything can appeal to them. Even something that is not technically great. Another huge music project is coming out right after Eid… you will see me performing in that as well. So the critics should wait and check that out.

I never expected to win. I don’t even come close to their experience and skill but this was a voting category and I guess music listeners and fans out there did like something about my album. The criticisers have a right to state their views.

We congratulate Ayesha Omar on her achievement and wish best for her future endures,

Happy Ramadan to all our Readers- the Month Most-Awaited is Finally Here!

0

Ramadan is finally here upon us and we, the team of DramasOnline.com and Reviewit.pk, wish you a very happy Ramadan Mubarak. May you succeed in making your Lord happy with your deeds in this holy month. Ramadan is a month of blessings which holds a lot of significance for all the Muslims who wait for an entire year to celebrate this pious month to earn closeness to Allah by Fasting and offering self-control, abiding sins and praying to Him for Forgiveness and Mercy.

It is interesting yet, more like a tradition that with a  change in your routines in Ramadan, even the entertainment industry too offers its followers a new flavor of entertainment where all the love stories are replaced by the religious shows and special shows are directed to encourage the Muslims to follow their religion. From the cooking shows to the talk shows, from the Narration of Holy Quran to the Naat Competitions, the 30 days of this month are a complete package where you find yourself all surrounded with a pious touch.

Taking a keener look on the lifestyle of our celebrities, even their personalities are seen in a different shade where they appear on screen, talking not about fashion and glamor but about religion and its teachings. We have been watching many celebrities adopting different avatars in Ramadan, including Ahsan Khan, Noman Ejaz, Faisal Qureshi, Moamar Rana, Fahad Mustafa, Sahir Lodhi and even Veena Malik by now and this year we will be watching Noor, Bushra Ansari and many more celebrities who will be sharing all what they have on the matter with their fans.

Ramadan-Mubarak-Pakistan

Lets see what new the entertainment industry has to offer this year, but there is one thing for sure that the month which has just started has its own charm which stands alone in uniting the Muslims on a common point.

Once again, Wishing you more power for this Month,

How Well Do You Know Juggan Kazim?

0

Juggan Kazim has been associated with showbiz for a long time now, even longer than most of us would think or know about. I have always been a fan of Juggan because she has always come across as someone genuine; not one of those superficial beauties in our industry who think ten times before uttering a single word because they are too conscious about their image or too busy trying to create a false image. Juggan Kazim said in one of her interviews that she always wanted to be an actress. Although, she is a model and an anchor person as well and is also working on her own production house but acting is very close to her heart.

juggan2juggan1

Juggan kazim comes from a very high profile family, so she was never allowed to enter this profession. Juggan started modeling just for fun when she was only nine; her family didn’t have a problem with it back then because she was just a little girl but when she turned fifteen, her father made it clear to her that she could not continue doing so. Juggan was brought up in a broken home; her father and mother were separated. Juggan says “I grew up in my Nano’s house, and used to see my dad only on weekends… Dada, my father, was very conservative in his ideas; for women — his women that is — it was just ‘chader aur char dewari’ sort of stuff”. Juggan’s passion for showbiz made her break the rules set by her father and there was no looking back for her after that. Juggan actually started her acting career from Canada, where she went to study.

juggan sonjuggan son3      Juggan with her son

Juggan Kazim prefers wearing practical and uncomplicated clothes. You must have noticed that we hardly ever see her in complicated hairdos as well, that is because she likes her hair tied in a pony tail or just brushed out. Juggan Kazim really likes Aminah Sheikh and Mohib Mirza, she thinks they are very dynamic. In an interview with showbiz spice when asked that where did Juggan Kazim see herself in ten years, she replied “I see myself as a well respected anchor, established actor and running a state of the art production house. Possibly producing 2-3 feature films a year”. The following statement shows that Juggan Kazim is very energetic and also feels very positively about her future.

juugan kazim

Juggan has acted in many dramas and telefilms, to name a few; Manosalwa, Sitam, Piyasi, Saiqa, Meri Un Suni kahani, Sherdil, Chaat, Aik Pal, Kagaz Ki nao and Vasl. Juggan Kazim has hosted many shows on different channels. She has hosted the following shows; Beanbag (Business Plus), CEO (Business Plus), Aaj Entertainment Tonight (Aaj TV), Fashion Stop (Ary Digital), Sunday Brunch (Aaj TV), Morning with Hum Weekend Edition (Hum TV), Aik Din Juggan Kay Saath (Vibe TV), Honestly Speaking with Juggan Kazim (PTV), The Final Verdict with Juggan Kazim (Filmax) and right now she is hosting the morning show on PTV home, which is a great honor. Interestingly, Juggan never thought she would host any shows at all, although she was always very chatty but she always thought of herself more of an actress than an anchor person or even a model.

juggan kjuggan5

Another thing that many people may not know about this cute and candid diva is that Juggan isn’t her real name, Juggan is actually her nickname and her real name is Syeda Mehrbano Kazim. Few of Juggan’s movies are in the pipeline and setting up her own production house seems to be her top agenda right now. Here is wishing Juggan all the best in the future as well.

Celebrities showing support to “Main hoon Shahid Afridi” in a press conference

0

The movie which has already dragged a considerable audience before a month of its release, will soon be making its way to the cinemas this eid. ‘Main hoon Shahid Afridi’ is an upcoming movie which is based on the life of Shahid Afridi, revolving around the life of pitch and the fact that how difficult it normally is for the newcomers to achieve their dreams. Been produced by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib under the banner of Six Sigma, the movie is directed by Syed Ali Raza.  It was only last Sunday, that is July  7th 2013, that Atrium mall held a dedicated session where a press conference was held regarding this upcoming movie. The conference was attended by a large number of celebrities who made their appearance showing their dedication towards the team of ‘Main hun Shahid Afridi’.

The event was covered by almost all channels and newspapers where Dawn news even published a detailed column about the ceremony. Here are a few words from the share:

“Main Hoon Shahid Afridi” is about an underdog youngster (Noman Habib) who dreams of becoming the next Shahid Afridi, and his improvised rag-tag team, as they take on undefeated well-heeled rivals and behind the scenes politics of regional cricket. Leading the team is Akbar Deen (Mr. Saeed), an ex-cricketer still suffering from a professionally damaged past.

Apart from Mr. Saeed, the film stars Nadeem Baig, Javed Sheikh, Mahnoor Baloch, Noman Habib, Shahzad Sheikh, Ismail Tara, Shafqat Cheema, Humza Ali Abbasi, Gohar Rasheed and Ainy Jaffry, with cameos by Faisal Qureishi, Aijaz Aslam, and cricketers Sikandar Bux and, of course, Shahid Afridi.

Several variations of the movie’s theatrical trailer, including a few songs (two of which we were told are directed by Suhail Javed and Saqib Malik), were interjected between the introductions hosted by Vasay Chaudhry, who is also the film’s writer.

Speaking at the event were Nadeem Mandviwalla, of Mandviwalla Entertainment, actors Mr. Baig and Mr. Sheikh – each recalling different perspectives of Pakistani cinema’s recent history, the dire need and expansion of the multiplexes and emergence of a new generation of filmmakers.

Jarjees Seja, CEO of ARY Films, by karmic coincidence recollected the television network’s long association with Mr. Saeed, whose every “first” endeavor they have been a part of. Mr. Saeed, the center of the project, though was the first to bow out with a short introduction, saying that he “isn’t that good of a public speaker”.

The real stars at the podium however, were host Mr. Chaudhry, Mr. Tara (in his glibbest), and Mr. Cheema at his self-congratulating best.

The film is set to release on Eid-ul-Fitr, amongst other local titles and a pre-dictated absence of international releases.

It is, therefore, expected that the movie will be doing a good business all over the country where Shahid Afiridi’s label attached to the venture will play a vital role.

Lets see what else the movie has to offer,

Enough Of The Sisters’ Rivalry Formula!

0

I was really hoping that Silvatein would be the last drama in the long line of plays that focused on rivalry between sisters but unfortunately that was not so. I was really looking forward to the play Halki Si Khalish, primarily because for once it seemed like Mehreen Raheal wasn’t playing the kind of roles she usually does and Javaid Sheikh is a personal favorite and also because I desperately needed something entertaining to watch on a weekday. Although, after watching Nanhi, I was quite apprehensive about watching another one of Javaid Sheikh’s plays but I thought might as well give it a go. So, I made sure I watched the first episode when it went on air and was astonished to find out that this indeed was yet another play about sibling rivalry. This was shocking for me because I thought that the writers and producers should have figured out by now that people are not interested in watching more plays with the same theme.

maat

Why do I call the Sisters’ rivalry track a formula? Well because right from the Maat days, the plays inspired by Maat have been following the same kind of formula. It is not just the sibling rivalry that is common among these plays but much more. I have to add here that even though the characters were very black and white in Maat but I was totally hooked on it. I found myself rooting for Aimen and hating Saman. The performances were very good, the story was new, it had not been done to death at that particular time and the treatment given to it was A grade. But that was then.

ypnh

Coming back to the formula, the formula is that the older sister is always holier-than-thou and the younger one is just plain evil! Now how monotonous is that! At least the writers can add some “novelty” (not really) to the storyline by giving the holier-than-thou status to the younger sibling, not that it would matter but still talk about following the exact same “guidelines” so to speak but still it will be better than following the rules that were laid down by Maat. Bari Aapa drifted a little from the guideline by assigning the evil role to the older sibling and twisting the story a bit and it worked! Nevertheless, there were many dramas after Maat in which this “formula” was applied like Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai, Aks, Silvatein and now Halki Si Khalish. Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai was a story of cousins but cousins who had grown up in the same house like sisters. In Maat Aimen was the elder sister who very virtuous and Saman was the younger sister who was very materialistic and self-centered. In YPNH Haleema and Shumaila played the same roles respectively. In Aks Zohra played the older good sister and Zooni played the evil younger sister. In Silvatein Zeb is the honest, upright sister and Natasha is the younger one who is always plotting and planning. Now joining the league of these evil vs. good sisters are Raania and Rabia, Raania is the younger one who is very self-centered and Rabia is the good daughter who is very polite and submissive.

aks

The second essential ingredient that is part of the “formula” is that the older sister always ends up getting married to someone who has some kind of a past affiliation with her younger sister or the younger sister develops an “interest” in her brother-in-Law. The crux of the matter is that the husbands have to be involved in this sibling rivalry in some way or the other. In Maat Aimen gets married to Faisal who actually likes her sister Saman. In Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai the younger cousin-sister Shumaila ends up getting married to her Brother-in-Law Saim just because she is too jealous of her older cousin Haleema.  In Aks Zooni likes Shanawaz but Zahra ends up getting married to him and for that reason Zooni tries to ruin her sister’s marriage! In Silvatein Natasha gets married to Bilal who actually thought he was getting married to Zeb and I think we all know how the two sisters got tied up in the same house later on.  The first two episodes of Halki Si Khalish revealed that this play was no different. Rabia is actually getting married to the man Raania was having an affair with! Surprise surprise!

silvatein

Another thing that is common between all these dramas is that the whole story revolves around the two sisters involved. There is hardly any side track; the writers are very focused on the sibling rivalry for some reason! I do not argue with the fact that there must be many such sisters like these in our society and everywhere else too but there are many more that get on just fine and have a more normal bond! I remember Zeenia and Serena’s relationship in Tanhaiyaan Nayee Silsilay was a breath of fresh air. They had their disagreement and they were not perfect but they were such a good break from the good vs. bad sister scenario we see on our screens on routine basis now.

halki si khalish

Honestly speaking the sisters’ rivalry formula has been done to death and the writers should seriously think about making a play in which the sisters or even the women in general do not want to destroy each other. Aunn Zara is a step towards the right direction; the saas and bahu get along so well and even though the women in the house may have differences every now and then but they have a bond that one can actually relate to. Isn’t that how it is in real life? Women of the household – sisters or not – sometimes argue and disagree but love each other all the same or at least are not out to destroy each other! Most often even if the sisters don’t get along with each other, they usually keep a distance instead of dedicating their lives to taking revenge. Are you tired of the same sisters’ story being repeated on your screens over and over again?

This left-arm bowler, being in above 40s’ of his age is now engaged to Shaniera Thompson, who is a melbourne citizen. Confirming the news of his second marriage, which would soon be taking place somewhere in the coming year, Wasim seemed excited to enjoy a family life again. Wasim’s first wife Huma died back in 2009, leaving him with two boys who are now 12 and 15.

Been seen in many advertisements, Wasim Akram is enjoying a good revenue with his newly adopted career and is admired by the new cricketers too. It was this man only who was once linked with Sushmita Sen after the two hosted a reality show together in India. The news, however was confirmed false from Sushmita’s end but Wasim Akram remained silent over the issue and now that he is actually marrying Thomson finally, it is expected that people who were suspecting Wasim’s and Sushmita’s close friendship as a relationship will now make themselves clear.

We wish more power to the man who will always be cherished for his services that he rendered to Pakistan’s cricket.

Dil-e-Muzter Episode 19 – Ahmer or Adeel?

0

The show just got more interesting! All I can say is that I am totally hooked and I was hanging on each dialogue in this episode. Sanam Jung just keeps getting better and I even liked Imran Abbas in this episode. He never stood out in this serial because of Sanam and Sarwat but since the past 2 episodes, he has been difficult to ignore.

At the beginning when the episode started, I was in favor of Silah marrying Ahmer. I was surprised to know that Silah already knows that Safeena and Ahmer’s dad wants Ahmer and her to get married and she also knows that Ahmer has feelings for her. Ahmer finally opened up a little and tried to tell Silah to move on and look around her and notice people who love her immensely. He said it in an indirect way but his meaning was clear and Silah also understood what he was hinting at but she did not respond to it and kept silent. Ahmer, Silah and Affan looked like a perfect family when they went for shopping together. They all looked so happy but then Silah saw Adeel there and all her happiness went down the drain. Silah tries so hard to show that Adeel’s presence does not affect her but it is obvious that she gets disturbed everytime she faces him.

dil e muzter coll

The old manipulative Zoya is back who knew how to fool Adeel with her words but this time surprisingly, he does not get fooled. Five years are enough to judge a person and he now knows the real Zoya perfectly and when she sweetly asked him to get Silah back and that she was ready to accept her in this house, he did not believe a word of it. He used to be a very bad judge of people but now he has learnt his lesson, at least in Zoya’s case.

Uske Dil Mein Ab Mere Liyeah Koi Jagah Baqi Nahi Rahi

Aur Tumhare Dil Mein?

I liked this exchange of dialogue between Zoya and Adeel. He kept silent when she asked him if Silah was still in his heart. Zoya is just deluding herself when she says that Adeel loves her when it is apparent that he does not.

Zoya and Adeel scenes just manage to crack me up at times! I was laughing so hard when I saw Zoya with that dark red lipstick and a plastic flower in her hair and Adeel’s comment just made me laugh even harder! Why is Zoya so obsessed with orange and red lipstick anyway? I may hate her but I must admit that she entertains me a lot with her antics.

dil e muxter coll

By the end of the episode, especially the last 10 minutes my opinion changed a bit and a part of me now wants Silah to go back to Adeel. When Adeel went to Sami’s house and confessed that he still loves Silah and has never been able to forget her, I softened towards him. I was glad that Silah heard this confession but Adeel ruined it by adding Ahmer’s name in the end and voicing his disgusting views about Silah and Ahmer.

There is a huge misunderstanding between them and it really needs to get cleared but how will it get cleared when they are not even ready to speak to each other! Adeel is going to try in the next episode to talk to Silah but it does not look like Silah is ready to speak to him anytime soon. Silah is trying her best to take a professional approach when it comes to Adeel as she did not refrain from praising Adeel’s work in front of Sami, though she refused to call Adeel in her office and appreciate his work in front of him but Sami did tell Adeel that Silah liked his work in an indirect way.

dil e muzter 1

The last three or four minutes of the episode when the title song of the show was playing were superb! It was just beautifully directed and edited. Hats off to Shehzaad Kashmiri and the editing team! The extremely awkward elevator scene was emotionally charged because even though there were no dialogues, it was full of emotions and the expressions of both the actors said it all.

Now I am really looking forward to the next episode. I cannot wait to see Adeel trying to explain himself to Silah. Safeena also got to know that Adeel is working in Silah’s office and now she is going to take strict measures to end their relationship.

So what are your views on the episode guys? Do you guys want Silah and Adeel back together or do you guys want to see Silah with Ahmer?

Bollywood Movie Raanjhanaa Banned in Pakistan!

0

If you still follow Bollywood movies strictly, you must be amused to know that the recently released movie “Raanjhanaa” starring Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush and Abhay Deol has been banned in Pakistan and will not be making its way to the Pakistani Cinemas.

The story revolves around a love story of a Muslim-Hindu couple and due to the possible oppositions from the religious elements within the country, the film censor board has banned the movie. Although, no thanks to piracy, the DVDs of the movie are available widely across the nation, Arshad Ali, a senior government official and chairman of the board said:

The censor board did not clear this movie because of its controversial story. The board recommended that the movie’s storyline could offend the majority Muslim population in the country and a law and order situation could arise in response.

raanjhanaa_masand_630

The movie is ruling the Indian box office for its uniqueness and acting been done by the actors. While the music is enjoying to be a hit on chartbusters, even the Pakistani audience is appreciating the movie so far.

Pakistan’s censor board has always been extra careful towards the airing of Bollywood movies that are based on sensitive issues that can raise violence within the country.

Silvatein Episode 22 – Review.

0

Ohkay so some people can never change but the people around & the surroundings can. However, in this case, nothing is changing, neither the people nor the surroundings. I have kind of held it back but I can’t help saying now that the show has shown zero progress in terms of the story. The main focus is just about establishing more & more about the nature of the characters but I guess we know our characters in & out, so when are we moving on?

I mean we all know that Natasha is the one who shows her generosity & the smile she uses miserly at those specific moments when she is hoping for things to turn her way. Every member of the family, after spending a whole lifetime with one & another obviously understand what sort of a nature they share. What’s their mindset & what are they fishing for. In this matter, I tend to get annoyed by the fact that Zeb is being so ignorant of Natasha that she flips whenever she has an ulterior motive. She has proved it over & over & over again, repeatedly, monotonously & continuously but still Zeb is unable to understand that Natasha is plotting something once again.

Ohkay, we all know that Natasha is the evil one & Zeb is the angel, but where does it take us? YES! No where. What good has Zeb’s angelic behavior done to Natasha? Nothing. Why can’t Zeb take things a bit more lightly but maturely like she used to when she was single. I just couldn’t conceive of this fact that we’d get the whole peer fakir thing that too so stretched & dragged & with such details in this story line.

Rayaan has been open about his opinion about Natasha & he is actually right. I understand him completely. His subtlety, his kindness is the best thing for me in this whole drama. The way he is worried about each & every family member including Natasha, despite the fact that he hates her is marvelous. He has personified the ‘head-of-the-family’ label & has earned all the respect because he is entitled to it.

It really bothers me how Bilal blindly trusts his wife Natasha even though she also has been really vocal about her evil plans. No doubt she is sugar-coating all her gibberish in regards to Zeb but he must sit back & think again for a second that what made Natasha change her heart & mind so suddenly for Zeb? I mean c’mon, he’s her husband & no husband is such a fool. The only thing that bothers me for sure is the extremes of the natures of all the characters excluding Rayyan. Zeb’s complete conversion to introversion, Natasha’s constant negativity, Bilal’s unimaginable innocence & awe for Natasha, all this has really made it unreal for me.

Rayyan is the only character which I can actually see as a reality because when he knows how to be sweet & caring, he also can handle the harshness & knows how to extend some too. I hate to see him suffer within because of Zeb’s deaf & dumb treatment towards him. No doubt, she does what every wife do for the husband but is holding so much back, completely forgetting that Rayaan has never given her a reason to not rely on him. He has always been there for her, has always stood up for her, has given her a shoulder to cry on or has been all ears in listening to her problems but Zeb is pretending a bit too much. Rayyan, who is her husband – couldn’t get her candid with him after doing so much for her & even after living with her. But Mikaal, who was her ex-fiance that everybody knew about makes Zeb switches back to her care free mode in front of everyone & especially Rayyan too.

All this mind games have actually made me tired. I think I just can not use any more energy in understanding what is going on behind each & every word that is uttered. I really hope that the story progresses & we come to an end where all these people have a closure with all the issues.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Halki si Khalish- an unusual story!

0

Rehaai has finally ended and replacing it, we have ‘Halki si Khalish’ going on air on Hum TV. The drama which is written by Attiya Dawood and directed by Adnan Wai Qureshi. The drama seems to have an unusual story where we see Javed Sheikh, Mawra Hocane, Mehreen Raheal, Shehzad sheikh, Adnan Jilani, Rubina Ashraf in lead roles.

The story of the drama revolves around two families where one belongs to Waheed who lives with her two daughters Rania and Rabia. Rania is in a relationship with Behzad who sends a proposal for Rania with his mother where some misunderstanding changes the entire story and she asks for Rabia’ s hand inspite of Rania’s. This turns into a real issue among the two sisters where Behzad too finds himself helpless to tackle the situation.

Before the family could deal with it, another issue is been raised. Javed Sheikh, who is a man of rules lands up with Mehreen Raheal who will be seen in a different role from what she has been doing so far.

Here are a few clicks of the celebrities, have a look!

Adhoori Aurat Episode 12 – Review

0

Not much happened in the episode this week, for most part the story was stagnant. This show is turning out to be very typical as each episode passes. The evil mother–in-law and her cruelty towards her daughter-in-law is the most common story ever! What shocked me – correction – what horrified me was Zayaan’s behavior towards Maryam. Why are all men madly in love with the woman before marriage and then after marriage their attitude changes towards them? I have seen the same thing in many shows before too and this just annoys me a lot.

The way Zayaan behaved with Maryam was unforgivable and that too without knowing all the facts. He just overheard the conversation between the doctor and Tasneem and accused Maryam of trying to kill the baby. I do not know how Maryam can stand such behavior especially from Zayaan. My heart went out to her when she tried to make excuses for Zayaan’s behavior. She needs his time and love at this point and all she gets is his indifference although he does take care of her in his own way but his opinion about Maryam has completely changed thanks to Nusrat who keeps filing his ears against Maryam. Zayaan should know better than believing every word that comes out of Nusrat’s mouth. He should at least trust Maryam a little!

Faiza finally got to know about Saira and Umair’s relationship and she got angry at Umair’s deception and quickly planned her revenge. She immediately called Saira’s husband and informed him about Umair and Saira relationship. Well, at least her attention is now diverted from Maryam. But sadly, Umair thinks Maryam is one who called Saira’s husband and starts pestering her.

I cannot even recognize this weak Maryam anymore! She used to be so strong before she married Zayaan. Her strong character was what Zayaan actually fell in love with now she has just turned into a meek creature. She gets scared of every little thing and Umair’s calls scares the daylight out of her as she will be in big trouble if Zayaan finds out about Umair’s calls. On the other hand, Faiza is playing games with Zayaan and unknowingly making Maryam’s life hell. Ayeza Khan was absolutely brilliant in this episode. She was without any doubt the star of this episode.

Just when I think Maryam’s situation cannot get worse, one thing or the other comes up to make her situation even worse. I cannot believe Zayaan believes every single word that his mother says! She taunts Maryam and her parents at every chance that she gets. Zayaan restricted Maryam to meet her family and now when Nusrat asked Zayaan whether they contacted for Maryam’s Godh Barhai. What does this woman actually wants? And why is Zayaan so stupid to listen to everything that she says!

There seems to be more hurdles for Maryam ahead as Zayaan’s indifference towards Maryam will get worse and her mother-in-law is not going to have a change of heart, that’s fort sure. Maryam chose this life for herself and she cannot even complain about it to her parents. Ever her family keeps lying to each other about Maryam and her situation and tries to show that everything is fine. I feel extremely sorry for both Maryam and her family!

Let’s see what is in store for us next!

Kankar Episode 6 – The Proposal!

0

I was all for the way Sikandar was pleading his case in the last episode because I found nothing wrong with the fact that he wanted to marry a girl he liked and not one who he wasn’t interested in at all. Sure, that was very selfish of him but certainly not something that can be considered absolutely unacceptable especially when one considers the attitude of his mother, she is just as stubborn and unreasonable, and we surely know now who he takes after!! Sikandar is selfish all the way, there is no disputing that. Even after Kiran’s parent’s reject the proposal, he still asks his mother to go again – now that never happens, does it? Sikandar’s mother’s attitude of course was the prime reason why Kiran’s parents rejected the proposal, I am so glad that despite of being so simple Kiran’s mother is not completely naïve and she picked up the pride, arrogance and detest in Sikandar’s mother’s attitude instantly. Kiran’s mother clearly stated that Sikandar and his family had a lot of positives but his mother’s attitude was very wrong. Sikandar, of course is unaware of the situation and is not bothered with what Kiran’s family, his mother or Kiran herself wants, he just wants his wish granted. He does not even care that the girl he is trying so hard to marry does not even like him that says a lot about him.

In this entire episode, Faiqa’s main focus yet again was to do whatever she could in order to get Kiran engaged to Adnan. I can’t believe that she is foolish enough to think that her sister will come begging to her once Kiran gets engaged. I have to say that Arzoo has far more sense than her mother but she does not take a stand in front of her. Arzoo still does not believe that Kiran had anything to do with everything that happened but at the same time she won’t talk to Kiran and even told her off today. The only reason for this could be that she feels so embarrassed about the whole situation that her best defense is to not have any ties with either Kiran or Sikandar.

Adnan, on the other hand cannot seem to muster up the courage to ask his mother to go to Kiran’s house, his sister’s words keep haunting him and he does not want to do anything that will hurt her. Rukhsar has turned bitter over the years. She believes in taking a stand for herself, maybe because she is very insecure. She knows if she does not voice her concerns loud and clear then she may never get married. Faiqa’s conversation with Adnan’s mother worked like a charm, she was very eager to go to Kiran’s house with the proposal but Rukhsar made it very clear to her that it was not going to happen.

For me the best thing about this episode was Kiran’s mother’s character and the conversations between the husband-wife about the proposal. It was so good to see a mother on-screen for a change who is nice but at the same time can see through people. She could tell exactly what Sikandar’s mother was like and she clearly saw what Faiqa was trying to do. The husband and wife did not have long arguments or disagreements over the issue but were quite clear about what they wanted- very sensible indeed. There is a reason why Kiran is so sensible and Sikandar isn’t!! Children obviously take after their parents. Faiqa’s husband apparently wasn’t very interested in marrying her too but she managed to have a “happy” life nevertheless, so she thinks Arzoo should not think too much about these things, how wise is that!

I actually find it quite funny the way men are constantly judged by the women in the play. There have been a lot of such dialogues in Kankar till now in which men are tagged with certain n characteristics in some way or the other. I have to say that Kankar is gradually growing on me, there is nothing novel about the story till now but the direction has been top notch. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t expecting Aabis Raza to do so well. The performances with a few exceptions have been quite impressive too. Fahad Mustafa didn’t have too many scenes in tonight’s episode but he acted very well. My biggest problem apart from the same old story was that the hero didn’t really fit into the character but since the last episode Fahad Mustafa has been much more comfortable in this character. Sanam Baloch has been flawless all through these episodes. There were a few surprises in today’s episode, like the rishta affair was not dragged till the next episode; I wasn’t expecting a rejection so soon. Irim’s engagement being called off was totally unexpected as well. Like I said some of the conversations were very well done and Kiran’s mother’s character is very well etched out. After watching this latest installment, I have high expectations from the upcoming episode. This episode definitely had the classic Umera Ahmed touch. I will give this episode 3.5 out of 5.
