Adhoori Aurat Episode 7 – Review

0

The story is getting more and more interesting by the day and we got to see a lot of twist and turns in this episode. Khurram’s condition had left Zayaan shocked and his dilemma was perfectly depicted. On one hand, he had promised Maryam and her family that he would keep her happy at all cost and on the other hand, her sister’s future is at stake. The scene where he goes to Maryam while she is sleeping and she hold on to his hand was brilliantly directed and executed. I simple love the chemistry between these two!

aasd

Zayaan is left completely helpless and he resorts to the last option that he is left with. He meets Fazia and tries to reason with her. At one time, Zayaan loathed her mere presence but now he goes to her as he needs her help to get out of this situation. He clearly tells her that I can marry you under my family’s pressure but there would be no place for her between him and Maryam.

“Mein Tumse Shaadi Kersakhta Hun, Per Tumhara Ban Ker Nahi Rehsakta”

These words shocks Faiza and she could not help but ask what she lacks and why he dislikes her so much. Zayaan clearly tells her that he does not see his ideal life partner in her and he has already found his ideal in Maryam. Zayaan’s words cuts through her like a knife and she loses control over herself and ends up cutting her wrist. Maheen was absolutely spectacular in this scene. I never knew she could act so well! Her dialogue delivery and expressions have improved a lot and I am glad she was chosen to play Faiza’s role.

As expected, Khurram blamed Afshah for Faiza’s condition and the situation again worsened. I really feel bad for Afshah as she is stuck in this situation without having any fault. Khurram was about to give her a divorce when he heard about Afshah expecting and this saved her marriage. Let’s see if Khurram brings her back to the house.

Now the shocking part of the episode! Faiza’s doctor at the hospital turns out to be none other than Umair, Maryam’s ex fiancé. He turns out to be Faiza’s college friend and he even meets Maryam at the hospital and gets surprised to know that she had come to meet Faiza. He gets even more shocked when he hears that she was the reason for Faiza’s condition because in his view Maryam is an ordinary girl. I have a strong feeling Faiza and Umair are going to team up and take their revenge from Maryam and Zayaan!

Maryam went to meet Faiza because she just realized how much Faiza loved Zayaan and she was the one to come in between them unknowingly. She truly feels bad for Faiza and told her that if she could do something for you then she would have done it and Faiza asks her to leave Zayaan which leaves Maryam in shock. I personally think she made a wrong choice marrying Zayaan even after knowing the whole situation. She should have been more practical in her approach and now she is badly stuck in this complicated situation. How will she ever manage to make a place in everyone’s heart? The treatment of her in Zayaan’s house is getting worse by the day.

Faiza is not going to accept defeat easily and she will definitely come up with a new scheme. Faiza is acting unreasonably because she is stubborn and spoiled but what about Khurram and Mehnaz? At least they should talk some sense into her. There is no use marrying an already married man which is going to make her life even more miserable. I guess they cannot see anything beyond Faiza’s happiness and that is why they are fulfilling all her wishes blindly.

According to the promos, Maryam gives Zayaan permission to marry Faiza but will Zayaan marry her? Let’s see what is in store for us in the next episode!

Kankar Episode 1 – Class Differences

0

This first episode like most first episodes introduced us to the characters and to the general theme of the story. Guessing from everything that was shown in today’s episode one can safely say that the main theme of the play is going to be about class difference; status conscious family members who will never allow their less fortunate relatives into their world whole heartedly. The one thing that stood out for me in this first installment was Sanam Baloch’s acting; she is a very talented actress and breathes life into all her characters. She portrayed Kiran’s character perfectly in a way that instantly made me like her. Kiran is confident, practical, focused and straightforward but at the same time she is polite and loving. Kiran belongs to a lower middle class household but unlike her mother (Ismat Zaidi) and sister she does not dream of things that may be impossible in the real world. Kiran’s older sister Irim and her mother expected their rich relative Faiqa (Sabahat Bukhari) to ask for Irim’s hand for her son but Faiqa turns up with mithai at the doorstep announcing Shoaib’s engagement. I have to say that I have seen this happening quite a lot; the relatives who are not that well off but bring up their daughters well do expect their “richer” relatives to consider their daughters for their sons but the difference in status most often proves to be an obstacle. Faiqa prefers marrying her son in a family which is equally wealthy. Faiqa has close ties with her older sister (Laila Zuberi) and her daughter Arzoo is engaged to her sister’s son Sikandar as well.

kankar1

Kiran does not dream of getting married in a rich family but looks forward to studying further. She believes that husband and wife should have a relationship based on equality. She considers a relationship in which the wife has to listen to her husband alone equivalent to slavery. Kiran is definitely very enlightened and not negative or rude in any way. She has a very pleasant personality and has a special relationship with her father (Behroze Sabzwari). I warmed up to the father – daughter relationship instantly and am hoping that it would be one of those on-screen bonds which you remember for a long time. Kiran’s father does not have any expectations from Kamal (Shakeel), he goes to the extent of saying “yahoodi ka dil hai us mein”. Kiran’s mother worries sick for her daughters like any other mother but her father does not want to hear of it.

kankar 3

Kiran’s cousin Adnan ( Hasan Niazi) likes her but is probably not in the position to propose her because of his financial condition. Kiran, on the other hand does not seem to be interested in marriage at all.

kankar2

For me the highlight of this first episode had to be Kiran’s character and Sanam Baloch’s acting. Like all other Umera Ahmed’s plays, this play will also focus on social issues. Fahad Mustafa did not make an appearance in this first episode; I am looking forward to finding out more about him. Our heroine is very likeable and I want to know more about the hero. A first episode is too early to judge a play altogether so all I would like to say is that I am not exactly sold just yet. I have to add that the rich versus the poor plot has been done to death. Those of us who are following Mirat-ul-Uroos may also notice a great deal of similarity between the message Kankar is putting forward and the one MUU is giving. The play has been produced by Six Sigma Production and has been directed by Aabis Raza.  Did you watch this first episode? What are your views about it? Please share your opinions.

Farhat Ishtiaq’s Bin Roye Aansu coming soon on HUM TV

0

After the phenomenal success of “Humsafar”,  a joined chemistry of Farhat Ishtiaq and Hum TV will soon be getting on air on Hum TV.  Bin Roye Aansu is one of the best write ups and very close to the heart of Farhat Ishtiaq. It will be the second project that will be going on air with the collaboration of the writer and Humtv.

Been directed by Hassam Hussain, the upcoming drama enjoys a rich cast, starring Humayun Saeed, Mahira Khan, Armeena Rana Khan and Zeba Bakhtiyar. It is more than a news for Zeba’s fans to have her back on screen and this only fact also contributes largely in increasing the probability of this drama being a success. It was heard that it was Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Sanam Baloch, who were initially selected for the roles, however, according to the latest update on its official page, Fawad has been replaced by Humayun Saeed, while Armeena Khan will be playing the role that initially belonged to Sanam Baloch.

935086_193563854134616_1085231107_n

No doubts that the cast is enough to attract viewers but Humayun Saeed, somehow has lost his charm and people have welcomed his alternates open handedly. Mahira and Humayun also did a project together on ARY, “Niyat”, though it didn’t earn much of the respect as any other drama where Mahira was seen on screen. Armeena Khan, on the other hand,  has turned into an active artist in the industry after her drama “Shab-e-Arzoo ka Alam” where she is appreciated for her acting by majority of the viewers.

946891_193619694129032_1686384540_n

The drama is still on its initial stage and would soon be coming on Hum  TV this year. It would be the third major drama of Mahira on HUM TV.

Lets see how far the drama meets the expectations but the news of having Mahira back on screen is something!

Aun Zara Episode 01 – A Treat!

0

Ohkay, so this is what we call ‘setting a bar high’. The first episode was a treat to watch with a bit more of an insight into every character & for giving us a taste of what we’d be watching ahead. I absolutely enjoyed the beginning & I loved the Punjabi touch added to this, which made it more humorous to watch.

Aun is a pampered baby because he’s the only male child, grandchild & nephew of the whole family. I loved how he had to deal with all the pampering but gets frustrated too. He may want to run away from the routine of his life but all the time he does want to lean on his family whenever he thinks he can not handle the situation. Zara, on the other hand, belongs to an Army background where her whole life is disciplined because of her father. Her father is a person who likes things systematic but Zara does get bored with how her life is.

All the dialogues were written perfectly but a few really made me laugh. I loved how Aun had to spit just because his Daadi thought he had uttered something bad. & all other such incidents added more to it, the morning scene, morning drive, the office scene, the wedding scene & Aun’s call to his mother, the scene where everyone is waiting for him because he was riding a motorbike, the egg – these were the scenes which were done perfectly & were too amusing.

During all this hassle of his life, Aun does have a friend on whom he relies but sadly Aun is so innocent that he just follows the lead of his friend. Aun’s friend has done a great job because he really wants to do good to Aun but just because Aun has always been so pampered & could not make decisions for himself all his life, he blindly follows what his friends says. All the conversations between Aun & his friend were done really well & the best one was when they came to an agreement on how many kids they should have. Aun, all of a sudden plans to get married for the sole reason of getting away with the utmost attention & therefore, wants his family to think about it. After a bit of failed attempts his family does start thinking on this matter as well.

I loved how they have showed the mind-sets of people with different backgrounds, like Aun’s mother being an Urdu-speaker has different expectations & Daadi being a Punjabi wants something else for Aun. They have very subtly touched the matter but definitely not in a bad sense & people can very well relate to it.

The drama may be funny but it does have an emotional baggage to offer. We don’t know why Aun’s Pupho got divorced & where his father is. His mother is too busy in taking care of Aun & pampering him but does have some sadness with her. I just can not wait to see how the drama unfolds because for now & for sure I loved the starting of the drama.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat – A True Artist

0

Anyone who watches Pakistani dramas appreciates and acknowledges the fact that Sarmad Sultan Khoosat is a very talented individual. He is not just a gifted director but also a very brilliant actor and a script writer as well. Sarmad Khoosat was born in a family where he was surrounded by artists. His mother worked with radio Pakistan, his father was a very famous television and film actor and even his grandfather had worked for the radio. One can say then that this inclination towards art was bound to be there. Sarmad Khoosat admits that he never thought that he was going to be associated with television in any way but that he wanted to be a doctor. He even took admission in a medical college but it didn’t’ quite work out. He ended up working with his father in his production house and that is from where the journey started.

sarmad

Sarmad Khoosat started his career with the comedy play “wrong number” but he was noticed by everyone when he played the famous role of Cheeku in the one-of-a-kind sitcom “Shashlick”. Sarmad never felt as good in front of the camera as he did behind the lens. He assisted Jawad Bashir on the set of “Shashlick” too although he was very young at that time but extremely eager to learn. In 2007 Sarmad Khoosat’s first play as a director went on air, it was written by Bano Qudsia and was titled “Piya Naam Ka Diya”. Since then Sarmad Khoosat has worked with the number one writers, producers and actors in the country. He has directed some outstanding plays like Pani Jaisa Pyar, Hamsafar, Shehr-e-Zaat and many more. Rumor has it that Sarmad has also written a script for a film and is very interested is making a movie for the mainstream cinema. Sarmad Khoosat believes in doing projects that are different from what we usually see on television but his hands are obviously tied because he has to work with what the writers have to offer. Sarmad wrote a script for Hasan Askari as well some years back but the movie could not make it to the cinemas and was stopped halfway because of the issues between the producer and director. If given a chance he’d love to do something entirely different and being a true artist he would want to serve his people in some way through his art.

main manto

Sarmad Khoost feels disappointed that the people who are writing and producing for the television as well as the cinema are following the same old story lines and are not willing to experiment with new ideas. This of course can frustrate someone who has so many new ideas to offer and kills the creativity in young people. Sarmad feels frustrated with the way things work in the industry often enough because he is honest to his work. He is not willing to give up though and will surely reach new heights. Sarmad Khoosat is not just a very talented person but also very down to earth and hardworking. It is sad that artists who have new ideas and want to experiment cannot do so because the producers only want projects that will “sell”. It is partially the fault of the viewers as well who do not warm up to new ideas and we are stuck in a rut.

Silvatein Episode 17 – Review!

0

I must say I am completely sick of this character Natasha & her scheming but on the other hand the dignity & grace of other characters is keeping me going on this drama.

When the episode began, I got overwhelmed during the conversation between mother & a son but sadly one thing was very disturbing that a mother on her death bed had to actually lie to her son that she was perfectly fine & the son bought that just because he’s such a chicken who can not utter a single word in front of his wife. Another disgusting thing was that Mr. Chicken came to Pakistan just because his wife allowed him. At that point, to be honest, I did not feel that Natasha would change a bit & I was expecting something bigger & worst to happen especially when the will was about to be disclosed & all thanks to her, she proved me right. All this while, we have seen every thing about this character that to expect anything good from her seems like a dream.

Rayyan has done every thing for Zeb & is getting equally in return too but his worry about Zeb’s behavior shows how considerate he actually is. He has seen Zeb when she was emotionally free & laid back but ever since she has started to take burden of others, she has become too serious. I have always loved seeing their bit & today’s was an amazing one too. Their conversation after their function & their discussion was absolutely amazing.

During the course of this drama, I kind of never understood Bilal’s silence & his patience on Natasha’s attitude but today something was revealed very clearly. Bilal is actually in an awe of getting a girl like Natasha as his wife & her continuous bickering & underestimation has left him baffled. He has lost a sense of dignity & has completely forgotten that he is the man in their relation. I totally hate it when after every conversation he is left speechless & then rubs his face in anguish.

Natasha is someone who just loves to make people around her awkward. To actually involve Mikaal in her flick was absurd. Mikaal, for sure has feelings for Zeb, that’s the reason he trusted what Natasha had said. Zeb took that surprise gracefully & actually had no idea what Natasha had planned for her. At that point, I was like notttt againnn because the thought crossed my mind that she might be recording their conversation in her mobile phone to use it as a trap for Zeb when she deems fit. But fortunately nothing of that sort happened but she made Zeb awkward in front of her parents too. Natasha thinks that it’s only Zeb who’d get affected while completely forgetting that her parents would get worried & ashamed too. I think Zeb is taking the sweet elder sis role a bit over-board because at this stunt of Natasha’s, Zeb should’ve done something at least in stead of taking all the blame on herself. I know she is trying hard to make things work but they’re rather getting out of hands.
.
The last scene of the episode was intense where everything was blurted out completely& honestly. I loved when Munize furiously asked Bilal that why was he still silent. Natasha has always been materialistic & is too cunning at such matters, considering her age. For now, I really hope that Bilal swoops in & takes things into his own hand or else I wouldn’t mind to see Rayyan or Zeb slapping Natasha hard on her face for her negativity & stupidity in all that she has done because honestly she deserves this.

Hope to hear from you all.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Imran Abbas to do a 3D Indian Movie!

0

The actor who have been in search of a Bollywood movie, Imran Abbas has now finally made it and would soon be seen in an  Indian Movie “Creature”, also starring Bipasha Basu in a lead role. The movie is based on a fiction where the story revolves around creatures that were only seen in Jurassic Park before. Following the same trend been set by Shahrukh Khan’s Ra-One, this upcoming venture is expected to do good in the 3D world of movies.

Watching Imran Abbas in a 3D movie, and more specifically, an Indian movie is been taken as a treat for his fans within his home country. It was only few months back that Imran made his comeback to the Pakistan’s drama industry after being away from it due to his project in India which never happened for him. The promos were also leaked but things didn’t go in the favor, making him quit the movie.

934956_368621629922989_1620143988_n

It was seen that the actor made a tweet stating that he was offered the lead role in the movie Aashiqui 2 which he refused and now regrets his decision. Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 18 – Shocking Revelations!

0

This week’s episode had a steady pace and we saw a lot of changes and surprising revelations. The reason why I watch this show week after week is the because of the brilliant acting by all the actors as well as the beautiful dialogues. The screenplay written by Maha Malik is definitely worth an applause. The dialogues have such deep meanings that you cannot help but love all of them!

I always had a strong feeling that Zoha was up to something. Well, now her intentions have been revealed. She had revenge on her mind since the very first day. The reason why she is getting so close to Shayan is to make Maleeha jealous and insecure. Shayan is just a pawn in her game; she is trying to demean Maleeha in Shayan’s eyes and by telling him about Maleeha’s past. She revealed to Shayan that Haider who was Millie’s ex husband was first her fiancé and Millie stole him from her. On one hand, she is instigating Millie that she should force Shayan to leave Irfa and on the other hand, she is praising Irfa in front of Shayan and making him realize that she is the perfect wife material and he should never think of leaving her.

I loved the way she made Shayan realize Irfa’s value and for the first time I saw Shayan being proud of Irfa. It was the first time he voiced the importance of Irfa in his life and he told Zoha that he can never even think of leaving Irfa because she was there during the struggling period of his life and is an integral part of his life. Millie came in his life when he already gotten fame and recognition. I love this dialogue that he spoke:

‘Jo Nakami Ko Bhool Jaye Usse Kamyabi Bhula Deti Hai’

Shayan again sees Bilal coming out of his house and gets furious at Irfa as he had clearly warned her to stay away from him. This time Irfa does not stay quiet and gives Shayan a good piece of her mind. She tells him that if he has all the freedom to do whatever he wants then she should also have the same freedom.

‘Meri Barabari Ki Aur Jo Kuch Mein Karta Ho Woh Tum Karne Ki Koshish Mat Karna’

This is what Shayan replies when Irfa asks him why is she the one who has all the restrictions in their relationship? According to Shayan he is fulfilling all his responsibilities and this irks Irfa the most. I love this new Irfa who is not crying over her fate but standing up for herself. It was about time she stood up for herself and her rights!

It is pretty evident that Shayan has no interest in Millie anymore. He is fed up of her behavior and barely speaks to her properly now. The ‘Woman repellent spray’ dialogue cracked me up big time! Shayan really needs one if you ask me! Millie does not hesitate to voice out her opinion about his and Zoha’s newfound friendship and this irritates him. The answer that Shayan gave to Maleeha when she told him not to think that she is a fool like Irfa brought a huge smile on my face.

‘Irfa Hona Fakhr Ki Baat Hai Aur Tum Irfa Jaisi Kabhi Nahi Hosakhti.’

Way to go Shayan! It’s about time you realized what a true gem Irfa is!

The shocking part was the scene in which Shayan admitted to Zoha that he has no intention of staying with Maleeha for long. He is in debt to Adeel Farooqui and he still needs him at this point of his career but once that need finishes he has no intention of staying with Maleeha. Shayan sure knows how to play games! It was a pretty shocking revelation and Maleeha overhearing their conversation was even more shocking. What will Millie do next? She will not stay quiet, that’s for sure!

So it’s now confirmed that Minahil has no intention of coming back to Bilal. She was rude to Irfa when she called Minahil to reason with her and tell her about Bilal’s condition. Minahil still did not change her decision and now she has decided to end her relationship with Bilal as she asked Bilal for a divorce. Now what is next for Bilal?

Let’s see what happens next!

Sanam and Fahad’s Official Photoshoot for Kankar

The show that is replacing Zindagi Gulzar Hai on Fridays is Kankar, which is also based on Umera Ahmad’s novel. We will get to see Sanam Baloch on the screen after a while and her pairing with Fahad Mustafa is worth looking forward to. It is produced by Humayun Saeed and Shehzad Nasib and directed by Aabis Raza. The cast includes Fahad Mustafa, Sanam Baloch, Laila Zuberi, Behroz Sabbazwari, Sabhat Bukhari, Ismat Zaidi, Hasan Niazi, Humera Ali, Dia Mughal, Dia Shah, Maha Warsi, Uroosa Sidiqui.

Here is a short preview of the story:

Kankar is a story about a lively girl named Kiran (Sanam Baloch) who falls in love with Sikander (Fahad Mustafa). Shaishta, mother of Sikander, who belongs to a financially strong background is not in favor of this marriage but agrees under the pressure of her son. After marriage, Kiran who is already madly in love with Sikander finds out a completely different and unknown side of him and realizes that Sikander is completely different from what she had thought. This show will depict the marital problems that she faces and how she deals with them with her head held high.

For me, the highlight of the show is Sanam Baloch as she is one of my favorite actresses and since it is her comeback serial I cannot wait for it start! And the outstanding promos are like a cherry on top! The promos have made me extremely curious and interested in the show.

Adeel Hussain – Mystery Unveiled!

0

Adeel Hussain is one of the finest actors nowadays and has marked his presence in the industry with his outstanding performances in hit shows like Daam, Mera Naseeb, Mata-e-Jaan, and Mora Piya. He is also currently seen in shows like Silvatein and Jiya Na Jaye. Adeel has had the opportunity to work with the best there is in the industry and has had a very selective approach when it comes to choosing dramas which makes him stand out from the rest.

I am sure many of you must have noticed Adeel Hussain for the first time in the show Daam and thought that it was his first serial. Well, I certainly thought his first serial was Daam but I was in for a shock when I got to know that his first show was in the late 1990’s. He had made headlines for his performance in Zeba Bakhtiar’s ‘Aye Mere Pyar Ki Khushboo’ which was his first serial. He had performed with seasoned actors such as Faisal Qureshi, Badar Khalil and Shabbir Jaan and still managed to stand out because of his great performance.

He then became a part of the City FM 89’s breakfast show and worked there for a long time and made appearances on the screen from time to time in the form of advertisements, selective TV dramas, music videos, and tele-films like Duniya Goal Hai that ran in the Kara film festival. Adeel was not only interested in working on screen but also had an interest in the workings behind the camera. We only know Adeel as an actor but there is more to this guy than just acting. He is also interested in direction and has been assisting directors for a long time now so he has got a fair share of experience in direction too.

His first work as a director was a car commercial in 2008 for the HBL ‘Car to Car’ campaign and an unreleased brand entertainment project for the Telecom sector by the name of ‘Mera Mobile’ which he created and directed. He had also directed many documentaries like APWA (All Pakistan Women Association) which had turned out to be a beautiful documentary. He also made a documentary called ‘Bridged’ while he was shooting in New York for Mata-e-Jaan.

His talents and interests do not end here! He is also interested in writing, videography and photography. He likes to split his time between on screen work and his other interests and for those who don’t know he also has a visual content creation company called Vizor, which was made to showcase his existing photography, videography and directorial work as well as executing newer projects. He recently worked as a cinematographer in a documentary which was produced by Vizor Studios. This documentary was about the ‘Karachi United Football League’ which features children from slums of Pakistan who are being trained to play football. Talk about being multi talented!

When he entered the industry, he confessed that his parents were apprehensive and concerned about his future in the industry but he believed that he had a ‘vision’ at that time and he was sure that it would all add up and lead to something good. But now years later, I am sure they must be proud of their son’s wonderful achievements!

When asked about his costars in one of his interview he quickly named Amna Sheikh whom he had worked in three serials so far, ‘Amna and I always have a blast and we share a lot of laughs, respect and trust.“ Now we know why he has such amazing chemistry with her! He further adds onI also enjoyed working with Syra Yousuf in Mera Naseeb and Mira Sethi in Silvatein. He did not forget to praise Mehreen Jabbar who had directed two of his serials so far “Mehreen Jabbar is one director I enjoy working with. It is always fun as she is so experienced, focused and talented – its brings the whole experience up by so many notches”

adeel 2

On being asked about his most challenging project he replied “In TV, Mata e Jaan was quite challenging as I saw my character Ibad to be very complicated. Working with Mehreen Jabbar again meant putting extra effort and do my homework when it came to character subtext. She has a way of drawing that out of you, as a director. I’m very happy with the end result. I suspect I was loved the most in Daam as Junaid. Playing Faisal Ahmed in Mora Piya knocked the wind out of me! There was just too much grief in there.”

This 34 year old actor has won the hearts with not only his brilliant acting skills but also with his other multi faceted skills. I must confess that I am very impressed with all his work and I definitely hope we got to see more of his work in the future!

So what would you guys rate Adeel Hussain out of 10?

Dil-e-Muztar Episode 13 – Relations Falling Apart!

0

What an episode! It was the most heart breaking episode so far and I was in a shock mode for the first 10 minutes of the episode. I was just not prepared to see Affan dying! My heart went out for Silah and Adeel and I must say Sanam Jung was mind blowing. Her acting improves with each episode and she just made me cry in this episode with her realistic acting especially in the scene where she was looking at Affan’s clothes and toys. It was a very heart touching scene and I am sure most of you would have felt the same way!

As Silah reached the house she was confused as to why so many were gathered there. She then entered her house and was shocked to see Adeel crying and the scenario in front of her and then reality finally hit home and she loses consciousness… The variety of expressions Sanam gave in this scene was commendable. I could easily make out all her feelings through her expressions and I would like to applaud her for her brilliant performance.

f1cb0e92-7a23-4e1a-b089-1b1bb27b28c8wallpaper

I have always wondered what would make Silah leave Adeel as she is not the kind of person who would leave Adeel for some petty reason and I think Affan’s death is the only reason that could have led her to leave Adeel. Seeing Adeel roaming with Zoya while Affan was sick at home was the last straw for her. She blamed Adeel completely for his untimely death and left the house with a heavy heart. It was such an emotionally charged and intense scene. The way Silah swore that she would never forgive Adeel or forget what he did gave me goose bumps and what else can you expect from Adeel other than showing his extra big ego even at a time like this. Instead of stopping her and understanding her situation, he started blaming everything on her!

I thought I could not hate Zoya’s character anymore than I already do but I was wrong. I hated the way she was smiling and smirking while eavesdropping on Silah and Adeel’s fight. She had finally done her work and Silah was out of Adeel’s life and now she finally had her chance to be a part of Adeel’s life and she quickly went and consoled Adeel and in the process filed his ears against Silah all over again, and as always he believed her every word. According to Zoya, Silah left because she just wanted a reason and she loved him only till she met Ahmer! And the award for the stupidest person goes to… Adeel of course, who else?

I loved the way Safeena accepted Silah wholeheartedly when she appeared on her doorstep. She let go of all the past grudges and welcomed her with open arms. Thank god she did not turn out to be the typical step mother! She sympathized with Silah and gave her an ‘I told you so’ lecture which was expected and Silah just kept silent throughout. I had a feeling that Safeena was showing so much love because she had an ulterior motive but when she frankly admitted that she was not too happy about Silah inheriting all that Zamaan had because she thought Silah did not deserve it, my opinion changed. She also told her that she searched for her a lot and used to send letters to her house but she got informed that Silah have changed her house. Silah was shocked to hear this and told her that she never received any letter. How would she when all Zoya never let any letter reach her!

Zoya’s visit to Adeel’s house kept on increasing and even Adeel was irked to see her at his house all the time and told her not to come anymore but who can be a better actor than Zoya? She quickly went on her consoling mode and told Adeel that she understands his situation and knows that he is just taking out Silah’s anger on her. You can always count on Zoya to twist words to get the situation in her favor!

The preview for the next episode was beyond shocking! How can Adeel do such a thing? I just cannot believe he asked Zoya to marry him! But on the bright side, Ahmer is back and I am actually looking forward to see him in the next episode. Apart from the acting, the direction was outstanding! Shehzaad Kashmiri needs to take a bow! The combination of the superb acting, brilliant direction and perfect editing was just mind boggling!

Chambaili- A reflection of Pakistani Politics!

0

It is human nature that he gets attracted towards the things that he can symbolize with and when it comes to movies, the nearer they are to reality, the better the business they expect. It was only few days’ back that I watched the Pakistani Movie Chambaili in cinema and really, it was an immense pleasure to find out that the country’s film industry has finally entered into a new era of success.

Been directed by Ismail Jilani and produced by Abdullah Kadwani & Shahzad Nawaz, the movie is based on the dirty politics of the country, though, no real characters are personified in the film.  It was amazing to see that the story seemed a real life experience of every Pakistani and the incidents that have been shown in the movie are what people like you and me go through daily. If you are planning to get a hold of some decent movies to enjoy with your friends this summer, Chambaili is surely the one you need to think of.

The Plot

The story revolves around a family which lives in an area where the majority of the houses are been bought by a political party. Ali Tahir(Saif), one of the members of the family is back to Pakistan from abroad to attend the engagement of his cousin. The family keeps getting threads from the political party to sell their only house left in the area so that the area officially gets into their influence but they refuse to do so.

images (2)

On the other hand, the party ruling the country by forming the government becomes a victim of internal conflicts between the members, where one of the MNAs’ Ghulam Mohiuddin raises his voice against the party ruling them over decades but gets assassinated by his own people. The leaders of every party are seen smoking and drinking casually, which again reflects the realism of our society.

The movie takes a turn when Ali Tahir’s friend, ‘Musa’ decides to stand up to guard their rights and their country and starts a hunger strike. Initially, they get no support from people and media, their determination and the speech been delivered by the leader brings followers, in general the youth. However, Musa gets killed by the open fires of Police on the orders of political party in lead.

images (3)

It is then that a simple man evolves as a leader of ordinary people and becomes a threat to all the political figures of the nation. The general elections are then shown, and it is easy to identify with promotional activities been shown in the movie.Fortunate enough, the movie was a virtual abstraction of the real story of the country and the votes been casted by the people made the real man win without the rigging in elections.

All in all, it is a good effort and for a minute you can feel a patriot within you. The words, the dialogues and the miseries been showed on screen goes well with the current situation of this country.

Share your views about Chambaili if you have watched it, and if not, then it is highly recommended to take two hours from your life to enjoy watching a movie based on your own sufferings!

Promo of “Behadd” goes On-Air – Pictures revealed!

0

It is more than a pleasure to see the drama industry of Pakistan flourishing with a high pace, and the Hum Network is surely the leading contestant when it comes to giving credit for taking the industry somewhere where we see it now.

It can be seen that Moomal Productions has finally got its success ingredient in Fawad Khan and the team is coming up with consecutive hits one after another. Just after the success of Zindagi Gulzar hai, it is now a telefilm, “Behadd” that is expected to replace the current Zaroon craze with this new character Fawad will be playing against Nadia  Jamil and Sajjal Ali.

Been written by Umera Ahmed, directed by Asim Raza and produced by Momina  Duraid, the telefilm itself speaks about how amazing it will be. The story is about the fact that anything going beyond the normal standards leads to a disaster, whether it is tolerance or be an intense love. The story revolves around the three characters and is quite predictable too.

Enjoy its first official promo here!

Tarang Housefull Telefilms – An Overview

0

I have always been a big fan of telefilms, if they are made well, they provide perfect entertainment. The fact that the Tarang housefull telefilms were inspired by some of the old classics made me look forward to them and I had very high expectations from almost all these telefilms. Also, all these telefilms had some very big names attached to them, so one couldn’t help but expect a masterpiece. I have to say though that the telefilms I had very high expectations from did not seem up to the mark and others which I thought may not deliver were so much better than my expectations. Here is an overview of all the telefilms, please feel free to share your opinion.

Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun:

Writer: Vasay Chaudhry
Director: Nadeem Baig
Cast: Meekal, Ayesha Khan, Atiqa Odhu, Bushra Ansari, Saba Hameed, Usman Peerzada and others.

Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun was very refreshing in every way. It was truly wonderful to see Meekaal do something completely different from what he does usually. Not only that he completely stole the show because of his remarkable acting. All the actors senior and junior shared amazing chemistry. Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hun is a romantic comedy with quite a few decent and very intelligent jokes to its credit. Vasay Chaudhry’s script is flawless, Nadeem Baig did a spectacular job with the direction and everyone is very well suited for their roles. The song Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun has been sung brilliantly and has been shot very well too. Aysha Khan looks great and the lead pair clicked with me instantly, unlike some of the other telefilms where I wasn’t too sure if the lead pair really had any real chemistry.

atmjh
The telefilm was not just funny but very engaging as well, it kept me glued right from the get go and gave me nothing to complaint about. It was refreshing to see Saba Hameed in a different role as well, Bushra Ansari was her brilliant self as usual and Atiqa Udho fit in perfectly in her character. It isn’t very easy for a relatively new artist to shine amongst such big stars but Meekaal managed to do that almost effortlessly.
If you want to watch something that will give you some good laughs then ATMJH is a must watch for you. It has all the right ingredients in the right proportions and gives you nothing to complaint about.

Anjuman:

Writer: Zanjabeel Shah
Director: Yasir Nawaz
Cast: Imran Abbass, Sara Loren, Ally Khan, Iffat Umar, Sohai Abro and others.

Anjuman was the second telefilm to go on air. I must confess that I wasn’t actually looking forward to watching it and there were no high expectations from the telefilm as well, mainly because of the way it was promoted. I wasn’t much interested in wathcing “the item number of the year” because a good telefilm really should have more to its credit. The only reason I ended up watching Anjuman was because I had nothing better to do. Once I started watching it, there was no forwarding or stopping in between. Anjuman was perfect acting wise; all the actors were simply brilliant. The story was nothing special but some of the dialogues were very touching and had the kind of depth which one can only wish for most of the times. All the characters were superbly etched out and the songs were beautifully sung. Sara Loren, Ally Khan, Iffat Rahim and Sohai Abro were the stars of the show and unfortunately Imran Abbas was the weakest link. The beauty of this film lies in its characterization, acting and definitely the direction. The director turned an ordinary (almost unbelievable) story into something that keeps you glued to your TV screens. Sunidhi Chauhan added a new life to the old songs “Aap Dil Ki Anjuman Mein” and “Dil Dhadkay”.

anjuman
If you missed Anjuman for some reason, I suggest that you give it a go. It will take you in a world of its own and you will love the ending. I also like and appreciate the message that was put forward through this movie. It is definitely a must-watch.

Dil Mera Dhadkhan Teri:

Writer: Mohammad Ahmed
Director: Mehreen Jabbar
Cast: Sarwat Gillani, Sanam Saeed, Ahsan Khan, Shamim Hilali and others.

Let me start by saying that I had enormous expectations from this telefilm in particular because I expected nothing short of a masterpiece from a talented writer like Muhammad Ahmed, a gifted director like Mehreen Jabbar and a stellar cast. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed after watching the telefilm because the story lacked depth and everything seemed rushed. Sarwat Gillani and Ahsan Khan lacked the on-screen chemistry needed to make me relate to their undying love. Sanam Saeed on the other hand made her presence felt and stood out more than anyone else in the telefilm. The song “Rakh Diya Qadmo Mie Dil Nazrana” had a lot of energy but It came and went and I failed to understand the context.

dmdt
The “twists and turns” in the telefilm weren’t exactly exciting, in fact I kept on waiting for the time when the telefilm will completely keep me hooked but it never came. The characters were not very well established at all; we know that Beenish is the villain and Saira is the victim but that is that. I did not fall in love with Saira’s character; yes she was very cute but that was it. I did not hate Beenish’s character maybe because Sanam Saeed was so well suited for the role or perhaps I just wasn’t given enough time to warm up to the characters or the story. In short DMDT did not work for me at all because I failed to connect to the characters.

Devar Bhabi:

Writer, Director and Producer: Syed Noor
Cast: Saima, Sami Khan, Sadia Khan, Saud and others.

I was expecting this telefilm to be very filmi because it has been written, directed and produced by Syed Noor. I have never watched a Pakistani commercial movie so I had no idea what kind of an actress Saima was but I assumed she would be great since she ruled over the industry for a very long time; surely one can’t do that without some good talent (so I thought)!! I wasn’t exactly blown away by Saima’s performance partially because her character had not been etched out properly. The bhabi should have come across as someone very graceful who commanded immediate respect from the audience but that did not happen. All the latkas and jhatkas, the body language and the dialogues as well were over the top and did not fit in at all. I can think of many television actresses who could have done justice to this role.

devar bhabi
Sami Khan’s performance was mediocre to say the least, even with all the emotional dialogues, the bhabi dewar jodi failed to move me. Until now, this had to be the telefilm with most number of songs but the songs had an old feel to them. They were very melodious no doubt but they didn’t seem like the 2013 version of a 1960s movie. I found it difficult to sit through most of them because they were too slow and the presentation wasn’t very modern too. Sadia Khan; the heroine, a new actress, didn’t have much of a role to play but whatever acting she didn’t wasn’t actually impressive. Saud and Saima jodi didn’t click with me at all as well.

Overall, this was yet another disappointing telefilm, I have definitely watched better telefilms on many other channels and some with much stronger messages, much more emotions and much better script too

Armaan:

Writer: Vasay Chaudhry
Director: Anjum Shehzad
Cast: Fawad Khan, Amina Sheikh, Vasay Chaudhry and others.

This was another one of those telefilms that I was anxiously looking forward to primarily because Fawad Khan was playing the lead. I had my serious apprehensions about Amina Sheikh playing the lead with Fawad Khan because I wondered if the two will look good on-screen together. Nonetheless, I was totally willing to be pleasantly surprised. Honestly speaking I felt like there was hardly any chemistry between Fawad Khan and Amina Sheikh. Both of them performed brilliantly, there is no denying that but the sizzling chemistry that makes you go awww was completely missing.

armaan
The story was very interesting and had a lot of potential but the direction wasn’t very impressive and the production values were low. Some of the locations were exactly the same as Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hum, which was rather disappointing considering that it would have been quite easy for the director and producer to use new locations. I like the comical element in Abhi Tu Mein Jawan Hun much more than in Armaan; some of the jokes were not very clean! One can easily make people laugh without crossing the line of decency and it is always better that way. Armaan wasn’t exactly a masterpiece, in fact I couldn’t even watch it one sitting. Definitely not a must watch on my list but if you love Fawad Khan – go for it!

I haven’t watched Aaina yet, will definitely add what I think about it once I am done watching it…the promos looked very promising. Did you watch the Tarang Housefull telefilms? Please share your opinion about them.

Fawad Khan and Nadia Jamil to be seen in “Behad”!

0

It was only few hours back that one of the most happening dramas of the year, ‘Zindagi Gulzar hai’ has finally reached its end, leaving the viewers still touched with its wonderful script and amazing acting been done by all the actors who were a part of it. While celebrating the success of the show, the two-hour dedicated live show further brought the team closer to the fans  where we saw almost all the characters sharing their experiences together. It was only yesterday during the live show that viewers finally got a glimpse of Fawad Khan’s next project on Hum TV.

Been discussed previously, Fawad and  Nadia Jamil will now be seen together in a new project “Behad” that will soon go air only on HUM TV. THe promo that was shown, itself reveals much about the venture where Fawad would be seen in an entire new attire. Nadia, on the other hand will also be playing an important part, making sure that the drama actually gets hit as it is , Nadia Jamil is well known for her acting skills and had been doing some great plays with HUM TV, including Mere Paas Paas and the Ghost.

Watching Fawad Khan and Nadia Jamil together is enough to create a hype, exciting the audience to wait anxiously for the project to go on air. It is, for now, difficult to reveal much about the story pf the project as there are rumors of linking this show with mothers day.Now that the mothers’ day is all gone, it is likely to expect something else being the  centre of idea.

Here are a few pictures that had been taken during the shoot of Behad!

Adhoori Aurat Episode 6 Review – Schemes and Plans!

0

‘Now the real story begins!’ This is what came to mind while watching the episode. A lot of things happened in this episode and I was again hooked throughout.

The episode started off with Zayaan’s mother calling him and asking him to reach home urgently as she had a ‘shocking’ news in store for him. He quickly went home and took Maryam along with him and got to know that Khurram had taken his revenge from Afshah and had thrown her out of the house. This shocked him and he quickly went to Khurram’s house to reason with him but to no avail. Khurram was not ready to take Afshah back in his house and showed Zayaan the door. Zayaan left his house with a heavy heart and finally realized the gravity of the situation. He had become selfish and had taken such a big step without even thinking about his sister and now he could not bare to see his sister in such a condition. He realized that he should have said no to Faiza’s proposal when he was about to marry Maryam. Well, its too late to dwell over the past Zayaan! You should have thought about this before marrying Maryam and bringing her to your house all of a sudden.

Faiza may have been humiliated and heart broken but she is not the kind of person who forgets her insult so easily. Instead of drowning in emotions, she quickly thought of a revenge plan and executed it with finesse. She played her game with her mind and went to meet Afshah and showed sympathy towards her and promised to convince her brother to bring her back. Even Zayaan was impressed when he saw that she was ready to help Afshah and this was the first time that he spoke politely to her. Her smirk when Zayaan called out her name and then her change of expressions were brilliantly executed and captured.

Maryam clearly did not expect Zayaan’s mother to be the evil ‘mother in law’ types. She was more or less horrified to see their behaviour towards her. Afshah and her mother both blamed Maryam for Afshah’s condition and their attitude towards her was very harsh especially Zayaan’s mothers’. She kicked Maryam out of her house and while Maryam screamed and begged to let her in, she did not show an ounce of pity towards her. After that Maryam made sure she did not cross path with either her sister in law or mother in law. However, Zayaan asked her to try to interact with him because she would need to make place in their hearts herself. They then went for shopping for the whole family and Maryam brought gifts for everyone. Afshah took the gift and in courtesy said a good word or two but Zayaan’s mother attitude did not change one bit. She threw the gift and refused to take it! I do not think she is going to mellow down anytime soon. Maryam is in for a rough time ahead!

Afshah managed to convince her mother to attend Zayaan and Maryam’s wedding reception by telling her that if they don’t go then they might end up losing their control over Zayaan and if they want to stay in his good books then it is better to attend the function. Zayaan’s mother agreed half heartedly to be a part of the function but her annoyance and disapproval was clearly written on her face during the whole function and she just could not stand anyone praising Maryam. Afshah was now relieved and had calmed down because Faiza had given her reassurance and she knew that Khurram would never say no to anything that Faiza says. She is yet to know that she is just a pawn in Faiza’s big scheme!

Faiza plays her final card by sending Khurram with a proposal. If Zayaan wants Afshah to go back to her house then he needs to make Faiza her second wife! Everybody was shocked at this proposal and the episode ended at this cliff hanger.

Will Zayaan agree to marry Faiza? The preview for the next episode seems pretty confusing. Let’s see what happens next in the show!

Zindagi Gulzar Hai – The Finale

The best thing about his finale was that I felt for Kashaf, although I thought that I will never feel for her again. The wonderful aspect of the episode was ke Kashf ki zindagi bhi ab gulzar hai – how it happened? Solely because of Zaroon’s positive influence in her life and of course because love can do the impossible; something that I strongly believe in. Deep down all Kashaf wanted was a man in her life who will convince her of his love and make her believe that there is a God up there who has some wonderful things in store for ungrateful people like Kashaf too. I wish though that this change was shown to us in bits and pieces in the past few episodes and not “narrated” to the viewers in the last few minutes of the final episode. There were definitely a lot of loose ends and overall this last episode wasn’t exactly satisfying.

zaroon kashaf

I am sure many people out there, like me, were expecting this episode to be as much about addressing Zaroon’s double standards as it was going to be about Kashaf being grateful and realizing how wrong she had been all these years. Zaroon’s double standards were completely left unaddressed. No one laid down the rules this time around so I am quite unsure whether it is okay for Zaroon to meet Asmara or not!! And if he can meet his ex fiancé then can Kashaf keep things from him too?

I agree that most of the minor issues between couples do not turn into bigger misunderstandings if there is good communication between the two. The later part of the episode clearly suggested that Zaroon and Kashaf have bridged the communication gap that existed between the two. Kashaf takes a step forward, swallows her pride and calls Zaroon, primarily because she does not want her daughters to grow up without a father and she does not want to lead the kind of life her mother lead. This may have been the main reason for Kashaf calling Zaroon but it was quite evident that despite of their immature statements and acts (changing the names on the phones) these two cannot live without each other, they make each other complete and this is most certainly the most apt reason for any two people to be together. Zaroon does say in the end that he had the perfect life; a home, wife and wonderful kids, which made me wonder that he always loved Kashaf and had faith in her but there were still misunderstandings between the two often enough  – does that mean that all along it was Kashaf alone who needed to change her ways? Yes, I agree Kashaf needed to change, we all agree on that but to say that Zaroon was perfect all along would be so wrong too. But then it is also true that marriage is not the union of a perfect man with a perfect woman but in our society it is the union of an imperfect man and a perfect woman:)

zaroon kashaf

I think there was absolutely no need to show the meeting between Zaroon and Asmara. It just went to show that Zaroon did not feel any remorse at all and the entire conversation made no sense to me. Maybe, I missed out on something; it’ll be nice if someone who found this scene relevant in any way to explain to me please that why it was there at all. Mehreen Raheel needs to stop playing the “friend” who is always there to lend a shoulder to cry on whenever Fawad Khan is having issues with his leading ladies; first Dastaan, then Ashk and now Zindagi Gulzar Hai. I hope it ends here! Another scene, which I thought was prolonged for no reason was the HR presentation one, the presentation went on for too long, at least that is how I felt.

asmara

Today’s episode had some beautiful dialogues and to me the main message of this finale was as Rafia pointed out “Mohabat mei koi hisab nahi hota, koi ana nahi hoti”. Zaroon comes flying to Kashaf when she calls him, he forgets everything because despite of all their minor problems between them he knows that he wants Kashaf in his life. That was the favorite scene of tonight’s episode for me when Zaroon surprises Kashaf and Kashaf thinks it is a dream – surely dreams do come true. Kashaf finally tells Zaroon how much she loves him because she knows now how important it is to express one’s feelings, another lesson very well learned.

zaroon

Zindagi Gulzar Hai was perfect in terms of good acting right from day one; all the actors did a commendable job and the person who chose these actors for the respective roles deserves a lot of appreciation. The concept behind Zindagi Gulzar Hai was great but somehow it was lost mainly due to flawed direction and bad editing. If Zindagi Gulzar Hai was an 18 – 20 episodes serial which focused on no more than a couple of tracks and issues, it would have been perfect. Like all Umera Ahmed plays it had some memorable dialogues to its credit. But the best thing about this whole show was the discussions we all had here. Last but not the least, a big thank you from the bottom of my heart, to all those who followed the reviews every week and took time out to comment. The Zindagi Gulzar Hai experience wouldn’t have been the same without all of you, I am honestly going to miss our discussions more than anything else.

Fawad Khan’s Upcoming Drama Serial “Numm”

0

Many of Fawad Khan’s fans have been waiting to see him in a completely different role for a little while now. Well it seems like all of their wishes are coming true because Fawad Khan plays a role different from what he usually does in his upcoming drama serial “Numm”. The drama boasts of a stellar cast like Sania Saeed and Usman Peerzada. Sania Saeed and Kanza Wayne play the lead opposite Fawad Khan. The promos look very interesting and it looks like the story is going to be about a feudal family. Fawad Khan has not changed his look for the play, maybe because he plays an Oxford graduate who cannot break away from his roots no matter how much he wants to. He does not have the typical look of a feudal lord or someone who belongs to such a family but the promos suggest that he is pretty much part of the system. The promos are very detailed and give the name of every character separately. We will get to see Farah Khan on screen after some time in a big project. The play has been written by Maira Sajid and directed by Ahsan Talish but there are no details regarding which channel it will be airing on. There promos definitely have a very mysterious look and you want to find out more about the play. Here are the promos, watch them and tell us what you think about them.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai finally to reach its end tonight

0

The drama that somehow survived following the charm of the legendary Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar hai will finally reach its end this day. The drama was based on 26 episodes and the last episode will be airing tonight. The story is based on Umera  Ahmed’s novel Zindagi Gulzar hai and holds a significance that it is been directed by Mrs. Sultana Siddiqui herself. Enjoying a rich cast, the drama has been appreciated by the audience where Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed are been given special credit to make this drama a success.

179115_599815563377074_2042280022_n

The story revolved around the two characters who differed completely and had gone through different experiences throughout their lives that turned them into the people they were. Being slightly different from the novel, the drama seems to end on a different note, perhaps to keep up the mystery unrevealed and make it worth watching. Throughout the week, social media was all over loaded with the excitement that was found among the followers who were talking about their expectations with the ending of this drama,

Despite of the fact that Fawad’s acting is kind of pretty same as that of in Humsafar, and Sanam’s role as a rude-strong woman  as it had been in mera Naseeb, both of them have landed up with a unique chemistry on screen, probably because of the fact that is how they naturally good at.

972055_318139514982658_1739941514_n

The last episode that will be going on air tonight at 8pm has already created a hype among the viewers and soon after the drama would reach its end, a special live show will be followed up to celebrate the success of this drama where you will see all of the major celebrities that added their best in making this drama simply a hit!

485559_600303743328256_2028595840_n

It is still unbelievable that the journey we started together and the Gulzar Hai craze we have been sharing on this platform will soon be ending in a few hours. The drama replacing Zindagi Gulzar hai is most likely to be “Kankar” which is also an interesting project, starring Sanam Baloch and Fahad Mustafa. Although the project is still under the banner of “Coming Soon”, it is expected to make its place on Fridays, after all, Fridays and saturdays are important days for HUM TV.

Share your views about the last episode of Zindagi Gulzar hai and also mention how would you like to see it!

Actors Who Are Very Conscious About Their Looks

0

Acting is just as much about talent as it is about looks. If you have the good looks to go with great acting then it can be a lethal combination. Talent of course comes before looks. If someone looks very pretty on screen but cannot act, they will never make it to the top or may not even make it very far. We have quite a few examples of actors in the industry who are good looking but they cannot act very well. This article is about those actors who are very talented but also equally conscious about their looks; they have always put in extra effort to look good no matter what role they are playing.
There are some scenes that demand less make up and sometimes it seems very strange that these actors still wear a lot of make up even in those scenes. Other than that, the make up and the accessories can sometimes be very distracting. There are many other actors for whom looks do not matter at all and they have the confidence to come with barely any make up on screen if that is what a particular scene or drama demands. Here is a list of actors who I think find it very difficult to come on screen without a lot of grooming.

Ayesha Khan:

Ayesha Khan has talent, I am not denying that but ever since she entered the industry she has been very conscious about her looks. Even when playing characters which are not glamorous at all for example like the one she played in “Paarsa”, she still wears a lot of make up all the time. Her character maybe going through the worst time but the make up will not be mellowed down.

                               aishaaisha1aisha2

Sarwat Gillani:

Sarwat Gillani is another very gifted artist who is very versatile; we always get to see her in different roles in different plays. When Sarwat started her career, she was least bothered about her looks and most often we saw her with barely any make up on screen, so much so that she was even comfortable with her non blow dried hair. But lately Sarwat Gillani has been very conscious about her looks. The change in her looks started by the serial Mata-e-Jaan and ever since that I have never seen her without make up except for only one scene in Mata-e-Jaan. Not to mention that the curly hair look seems to be ancient history now. I remember even when the naani passes away in the play Mata-e-Jaan and everyone is in the hospital, Haniya (Sarwat Gillani) wears a lot of jewelry and make up.

                                       sarwatzoyahaniya

Mahnoor Baloch:

I have never seen Mahnoor in a character in which she plays the seedhi sadhi larki without any glamor. Yes, she did play one such role in Talafi but I guess one cannot separate glamor and Mahnoor. It maybe that it comes naturally to her and she looks stylish no matter what. But a real actor is one who can truly change his or her looks according to the demand of the character.

                                 +mahnoormahnoormahnoor1

Mohib Mirza:

There was a time when Mohib was very comfortable with his curls and his wheatish complexion but not anymore. Mohib has dead straight hair now and the foundation is a constant, not to mention the kajol and everything else. Mohib Mirza is another one of those very good actors, who cannot compromise on their looks no matter what role they are playing,

                          mohib1mohib2

Imran Abbas:

Imran Abbass has always been very conscious about his looks; something that anyone can guess. Except for a very few plays, he has always made sure that his hair looks its best and he is also one of those male actors who wear a lot of make up.

                           imran abbasia2ia

Mehreen Raheel:

How is it possible that we talk about actors who put their looks before anything else and Mehreen Raheel is left out of the discussion? Mehreen Raheal has always played characters that are glamorous and even if they are not she makes them glamorous with her look; Dastaan for instance. I have never seen Mehreen wearing a simple shalwar kameez on screen with little make up.

                                    mehreen1mehreen2mehreen

This list is not meant to discourage anyone, all of these actors are very talented and they have proved their versatility too time and again but sometimes it is good to see the artists not depending so much on their looks especially at times when they seem out of place.

Fawad Khan on the set of Zindagi Gulzar hai!

Fawad seems to be an arrogant person and his reserve nature is often taken as an attitude problem, though it is his team that knows how wonderful he is to work with. He is an easy person, adjusting pretty well with people around him on the set and here  are a few random clicks that has been shared on his official fan of the most popular show been on air these days, Zindagi Gulzar hai !

Dhani- A revival of Pakistan’s Theatre Industry!

0

Being a country with lots of potential, Pakistan is now known for its entertainment industry all over the world when we talk about the drama industry specifically.  However, if you go back to the era say 1980-90s’, you would find despite of few resources available, the country enjoyed the phenomenon dramas like Dhoop Kinare, Tanhaiyaan, Nangay Pao, Anch, Ankahee, etc and it was at that time only that even our film industry came up with decent projects that are still cherished by the viewers. Similarly, the stage had its own values and I still remember my father watching the “Umar Sharif Show” in between the movies we used to get rented.  It seemed more like a dilemma that after touching the peaks of success, both, the film and the theatre lost the respect and charisma they once had, dramas being constant more or less.

Now that we say, and in fact see that our drama industry has evolved like anything and are getting appreciations from the world outside, it was our film industry and the theatre that needed a miracle to happen for them and wonders, Theatre seems to have its break, all thanks to NAPA and our drama celebrities.

The OLD theatres

download (1) hqdefault

After having great performing artists like Moin Akhtar  and Omar Shareef,  the stage of Pakistan turned into a vulgar platform where the women of the nation(A Muslim nation) were seen selling their dignity and morality for the sake of  few returns. The auditoriums that were once filled with decent audience were replaced by the people of a particular class who became the soul buyers of items like “O gujra we”, and unpredictable moves made by stage performers like Nargis. It was only few days ago that I actually saw the video of a theatre, been recommended by a friend and trust me, it was more than a shame.

It is obvious that no father would take his daughter to watch this and as said above, our stage industry became a curse and a symbol of indecency, leading to another door of entertainment been shut for the people of Pakistan.

img_11851_hello-darling-pakistani-punjabi-stage-drama-5-10

The revival!

Though there can be a difference of opinion but all I believe is the fact that the credit that goes to the revival of Pakistan’s entertainment industry, is all limited to the celebrities who are now showing their incredible talent on screen, say Faisal Qureshi, Amina Sheikh, Saba Qamar, Shan, Fawad Khan, Fahad Mustafa, Humayun Saeed, Mahira, Sanam Saeed, Ayesha Khan, Sanam Baloch and other young actors who have not only contributed in upgrading the drama, but have also played their best when a movie was given to them.  Although a minute one, yet there is some change enough noticeable in our film industry and there are movies like Bol, Khuda K Liye, Ramchand Pakistan, Chambaili, Lamha-The seedlings, etc where again, the same faces have taken up the control and had come up with better results. However, Lollywood still has got a long way to make.

Fortunate enough, the theatre of Pakistan seems to revive once again where we see our talented actors who have actually studied acting and arts, emerging on the platform.

Dhani-The Theatre!

shan-sanam-sarwat-670

Been written by Imrana Maqsood and Amra Alam, produced by Shan, Dhani is a story of two characters Ruqaiyya and Rashida which are been adopted by two of my favorite actresses, Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani. This is a 15 days based theatre been performed in Arts Council, and it is for the  first time in my life that I have actually seen how a  stage show can be and should be. From the acting to the costumes, from the story to the props, everything about this stage show is exceptionally great and thanks to media and the people, who are playing their part well, the show is getting a respectable coverage as well.

551895-Dhaani-1369062709-286-640x480

Though, I had not personally seen the show yet, it has been recommended by two friends of mine that it is a must-watch show. It is, however, more than a treat to see an immense development in the field which was left neglected by the cream of the society, further taking it into darkness.

551895-Dhaani-1369062679-893-640x480

Try watching Dhani which would reach its end on May 31st, plan your schedules to see the first brick been laid towards the revival of the Pakistani Theatre!

Self-Confidence – Where It Comes From And How Important It Is

0

What does self-confidence mean? It simply means to be confident of one’s abilities and to have faith in one’s self. Let me make it clear at the start that self confidence and over confidence are two completely different things. Over-confidence would mean expecting more from yourself than you are capable of or thinking that you are above everyone else for nor real reason. Self-confidence is positive and over confidence can harm a person in many ways.

Self-confidence is very important because people who are self-confident find it easier to sail through life in general. They know themselves better than others who may not be self-confident, they do not get influenced by other’s opinions easily, they find it easier to solve their problems and most importantly they have realistic expectations. When these expectations are not met, they still continue having faith that they will be able to achieve their goals next time. Self-confidence gives rise to a positive attitude towards everything. A person with no self-confidence, on the other hand will be very worried about the opinions of others and most often would rely on the approval of people around him in order to feel happy. People who are not self-confident feel a greater need to make people happy and those who are confident can choose more wisely who deserves to be pleased and who doesn’t.

self confidence

Are some people born confident? The answer is no. Self confidence is definitely not something that is handed over to people by nature or genes but it is something that is gradually acquired, the circumstances in which a person is brought up also determine how confident that person would be. The surroundings in which a person is brought up matters a lot in determine if he or she will grow up to be a confident individual or not. If the parents and the siblings continuously keep on telling you that you are not good or capable enough, you will automatically start believing it and that is the thinking that will continue to guide you through all your life and make things very difficult. On the other side a positive environment in the house will make a person more confident and he or she will grow up thinking that they are capable enough to deal with things themselves. Later on, the school environment makes all the difference – a strict teacher and class fellows who bully you can never help in any way. Children who get bullied at school are likely to be less confident than those who had a good group of friends in school. There are also those children who may not have a cordial environment in school but the atmosphere at home is good enough. They share things with their parents and the parents give the children confidence to deal with these difficult situations.

Parents who keep on telling children what to do and what not to do continuously and do not let them be independent may think that they are doing their children a favor but that is usually not the case. As early as possible, the parents should show faith in their kids and tell them that they are as capable of doing things for themselves as is anyone else. That would develop self-confidence in children and they will learn what they are capable of doing.

Self confidence helps people at every step of the way – at school, in college, at work and most of all in interacting will all sorts of people on daily basis. The question is that, if someone did not get those ideal circumstances to develop as a confident person, what should they do? Are they going to lack confidence all their lives? No that is not true. One can always change oneself by following few simple methods.

1. If you judge yourself by other people’s standards, stop doing that right away. A lot of people think that it is very important how others feel about them and that makes them lose confidence in themselves because it is almost impossible to please everyone all the time. Evaluate your own actions and do not let other people decide what you are doing right or wrong. Stop looking for other people’s approval.

2. Stop comparing yourself with others. Sometimes the root cause of lack of confidence is that we excessively compare ourselves with others. Most often a person who lacks confidence thinks that those around him are better than him in more ways than one – it could be looks, intelligence, status or anything at all. Do not compare your looks or circumstances with others.

3. Do things which you think you can’t do. It can be anything – like having your say in a public gathering. Yes, that can be a big step for someone who does not have confidence enough to speak in public. Put your guards down and speak out in a where you most often would sit quietly. Doing things that you are afraid to do will help you boost your confidence, if you do so without worrying about the consequences.

4. Help your friends with their problems. You may not be able to do much with your life but it is always easy to help other people out with their problems. It is something that make you feel useful and at the same time will make you more confident about your own self.

5. Stop worrying about how you look. I agree that looking good contributes to feeling confident but it is not true for someone who feels that they can never look good enough, no matter what. Many people do not feel confident because they feel they are not good looking enough. I say, stop worrying about your looks and concentrate on what you believe is the best in you and gradually you will be more confident about your looks too.

Love Yourself. Last but not the least, learn to love yourself. Put yourself first in your life, stop doubting yourself and see your good points.

Are you a confident person? Do you think that self confidence is the key to success in every sphere of life? What do you do to boost your confidence?

Kaash Aisa Ho Episode 17 – A New Character

0

I am glad the show finally made some progress this week. The story moved forward and we got to see the introduction of a new character in the show. The episode started off with an upset Shayan who seemed haunted by Irfa’s words as guilt for not being there to financially support his family was eating him inside. However, all his guilt and burden on his conscience vanished when he saw a very drunk Bilal in his house in the middle of the night! He became furious at the sight before him when he entered his house. He immediately kicked Bilal out and raised a question on Irfa’s character. ‘Look who’s talking!’ This is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Shayan doubting Irfa. Irfa seemed stunned and humiliated at his accusation and his cruel words when he clearly told her that even if he does not give her his time or love, she is not supposed to seek it from anyone else!

“Bohat Rehm Dil Hun Mein Tumhare Liyeah, Aur Utna Hee Hee Rehm Bhi”

The scene was emotionally charged and intense yet beautiful at the same time. Mohib was outstanding in the scene and Saba was just as brilliant!

Bilal has gone completely out of his senses after Minahil had left him. He has some serious mood swings and has even started to drink! At times, he is polite and kind to Irfa and sometimes he gets extremely rude to her. Irfa went to Bilal’s house to apologize for Shayan’s behavior and before she could say anything he apologized for his inappropriate behavior the other day. However, his politeness was short lived as he rudely told Irfa not to bring food to his house as he is not interested in her social service! Irfa got upset by his words for the first time and refused to take his help from then on. However, he again excused himself the next time they met but this time Irfa was not ready to let it go that easily and he had to persuade her to let him help her.

The highlight of the episode was the introduction of a new character Zoha, who happens to be Millie’s first cousin. She had come to visit Millie and her father for a short time along with her son. She was very shocked to hear that Millie had gotten married to Shayan who seemed like an average guy with more or less no personality and she openly voiced her opinion to Maleeha who seemed irked by her words. It was pretty evident that they had never gotten along since childhood. They left no chance to taunt each other in one way or the other!

However, it did not take much long for Zoha’s view to change about Shayan. They clearly bonded over a cup of tea and opened up to each other. Zoha seemed impressed by his work while Shayan seemed impressed by her. He could not help but notice how different she and Maleeha were from each other. It did not take much time for their friendship to blossom when they saw each other again at the gallery. Shayan would never leave a chance to spend some time with a beautiful woman and they both ended up in the café where Bilal and Irfa were also present. The confrontation was shocking for both the parties and if eyes could kill then Bilal would have been dead there and then by the look Shayan gave him. Bilal quickly got the signal and dropped Irfa home and refused her offer for lunch. Zoha also noticed that something was not right and Shayan opened up to her and told her about her first wife which shocked Zoha even more.

It seems like Shayan is going to get bored by Maleeha too very soon and of course, Zoha would be the next person on his list! Maleeha can sense that something is brewing between the two and she will try her best to keep them away from each other. Let’s see what is awaiting us in the next episode!

Till Next Week!
