Two-time Academy and three-time Emmy Award-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is back with her another project SITARA: LET GIRLS DREAM. It is Pakistan’s first animated project which opened in theaters in New York on September 23rd, 2019.
The animated movie is based on the subject of child marriage. A girl named Pari wants to become a pilot but her dream is crushed and she is forced into child marriage.
The story of Pari is told through the perspective of her younger sister, Mehr. She is young and unaware of the barriers which a girl goes through due to pressure of society.
Sitara is a silent film with no dialogues. This animated film gives us a message that still girls in our society are considered as a burden. Many young girls are forced into marriage without their consent.
Sitara is raising the issue of child marriage. Hope it will help people to change their mindsets and allow young girls to fulfill their dreams.

Pakistan’s old popular drama serial ‘Dhoop Kinare’ “دھوپ کنارے” will be aired in Saudi Arabia this year with Arabic dubbing. PTV will dub the drama. The agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan was signed due to which Pakistan will provide its dramas to Saudi Arabia as cultural exchange program.
Dhoop kinaray will be the first drama by Pakistan Television which will be dubbed for Saudi Arabia. Previously the Saudi and Middle East Television channels have bought rights of many dramas and dubbed them for their channels for example koi chand rakh, aesi hay tanhai, suno chanda and Khaani but as a cultural exchange it is happening for the first time that PTV will dub it’s drama for Arabic viewers.
To enhance cultural exchanges between the two countries, it was decided to form a Pak-Saudi ministerial committee on information and culture during the crown prince’s February visit. The two sides, he informed, were still working on that.
Osman Khalid Butt has also praised this initiative.

Try your best to match the foundation to your skin tone. A foundation too light will make you look like a clown whereas a darker one will make you stand out and not impressive at all. While buying a foundation, it is better to do a wear test by asking for samples from the makeup store and leaving it on for several hours. The best results are only seen once the foundation oxidizes into your skin.
Concealer
Don’t use concealer as an eye primer, it’s too oily and the makeup will slide off your eyes. Concealer is meant to be worn under your eyes to hide dark circles and brighten your eyes. Additionally, it is meant to be worn to cover blemishes, redness and any skin problems one might have. Instead use an eyeshadow primer, your makeup will last longer and provide better end results.
Mascara
Don’t pump your mascara wand in and out to get more product, as this causes air to go inside and dry it out, and will fill it with bacteria which is harmful for the eyelashes. Instead,swirl it around inside the tube to get more product out. Apply starting from the roots in a zig zag motion so the product spreads evenly on the lashes. This way you avoid clumping the lashes aswell and they look more natural.
Eyebrows
Eyebrows are an important part of your face but often overlooked by women. Doing your brows properly and using the right amount and shade of product can elevate your whole look. Brush through your brows and fill in any sparse areas but don’t go too dark or too light, try using an exact color which is the same as your brows. This will help define them and give you a chiseled, well made look.
Lipstick
Don’t overdraw your lips way too much. There are ways of giving the appearance of plumper lips, but overdrawing your lips too much will make them look like they have been stung by a bee. Slightly overline only your cupids bow to give the illusion of fuller lips. In contrast, you can also highlight the cupids bow which will also give the impression of overdrawn lips.
Brushes
It’s easy to neglect cleaning the makeup brushes you use everyday to apply products to your face. Unless you schedule a time each week to clean them, you’ll never even think about your makeup brushes until it’s time to apply your products. But, using dirty makeup brushes can introduce bacteria to your skin causing problems. Instead of taking the risk, set aside time on the weekend to thoroughly wash your brushes. Although, cleaning brushes or makeup sponges does take time, it takes away dirty products and the next time you apply makeup, it glides on easily and smoothly.

This week Shaista Lodhi was invited in Speak your heart with Samina Peerzada.
Samina Peerzada asked Sahista,” When you were going to be a single mother what was on your mind that how will you take up your life along with kids? ”
She asked this question with a lot of hesitation.
To this question Shaista replied that, ” yes, It was difficult for me to raise my children as a single mother. I had to be strong in front of my kids, which I pretended to be but there was the time when I used to see the negative comments about me, I felt hurt. I felt this battle is way too big for me just because I was a public figure and was exposed to a direct backlash.
She said, ” My ex husband was a really good person he was a great father and a good human being. It isn’t always necessary that two wrong people opt for divorce sometimes both are right in their opinions and are good at their ends but divorce becomes impending.”
She also revealed that my ex husband has now passed away. He was a good person I respect him.
Disclosing about her new marriage she said, “my new husband is my first cousin , we grew up playing together. He was never married and I was the person who used to strive about his match making but Allah had other plans for us. He is too good with my kids. He is hands on support to my children because he knew my children and family. He accepted me with them, now they four have a grouping against me, they share a strong bond ”
She further added that, ” I sometimes think my husband Adnan is a big blessing and a gift from Allah on my hidden good deeds, about which I do not know .
The first episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was thoroughly entertaining and the best part of this episode was that all the characters were introduced with utmost precision. It isn’t very often that you feel an instant connection with so many characters. This first episode also had the most amusing opening scene which set the mood right from the get-go. SSG of course was the highlight of this episode and it made me realize just how desperately we needed to watch a play which focused on something other than married life!
The dialogues, situations and the overall feel of this first episode was quiet lively. This first installment was also fast-paced since it covered a great deal. The director and the entire team working behind the cameras did exceptionally well in giving this delightful script the right treatment. The performances by the ‘boys’ were energetic and all the characters had a definite presence.
SSG – Young and Adventurous
This episode opened with Sheharyar (Ahmed Ali Akbar), Saad (Ahad Raza Mir), Shahzain (Osman Khalid Butt) and Shariq (Wahaj Ali) trying to make their way out of the hostel. The way they were caught and the manner in which they dealt with this entire situation was really interesting. Their dialogues were witty and the way these young boys stood by each other showed their strong bond. All those college students out there who must be watching this show must have been able to relate to this friendship at some level and all those viewers who might have forgotten what it is like to be young, naive and adventurous must have felt nostalgic.
The college and hostel life was covered perfectly in all these scenes. The horror of being caught red-handed doing something which was against the rules and then the terror of being held accountable by the principal was captured immaculately in all these scenes. One thing is for sure SSG boys are not afraid of anyone or anything, they are experts at what they do and as long as they are together, nothing else matters. The story they made up in front of the principal and their revenge plan revealed just that! Ahad Raza Mir acted brilliantly in this particular scene. I especially liked the performances by Wahaj Ali and Ahmed Ali Akbar, they are so well-suited for the roles they are playing. The body languages of all these boys was superb, they translated the carelessness and the confidence of their age perfectly on screen. Ahad Raza Mir’s antics on the lunch table were an absolute delight to watch.
Shahzain is the leader of the group, he is the one who comes up with all the plans and everyone else follows his lead. The chemistry between these boys, the way their scenes were written and executed made their friendship come alive on screen in the most delightful manner possible. Their friendship encapsulated the beauty of young age and college days.
The Other Characters
Raani (Zara Noor Abbas) was the most interesting character other than the boys. Her dialogues and Zara Noor Abbas’ acting made her scenes extremely enjoyable. The hostel warden’s personality was equally interesting and Sajeer Uddin Khalifa played this role so well. Watching Faraz Inam on screen after such a long time was one of the best surprises. He is playing the role of an army man who has great expectations from his son. This episode only covered Saad’s family and I believe the actress playing Saad’s sister’s role is the girl who was one of the top contenders in Miss Veet competition 2017.
Dua (Alizeh Shah) was introduced as a confident girl with a vibrant personality. I must say that Alizeh Shah definitely looks more appealing on the big screen but I am looking forward to seeing more of her nevertheless, she might surprise us this time around. I absolutely loved the scene covering Saad’s love for his ‘dog’, what an interesting conversation and an innovative introduction to another important character in this story.
Final Remarks
Ehd-e-Wafa’s first episode was extremely promising, it truly delivered in every way possible. The locations, script and the execution was faultless. This episode was also visually delightful. Ehd-e-Wafa it seems is going to be an enjoyable ride and one which will give the viewers a much needed break from all the other dramas which most often focus on relationships from a completely different perspective.
Refreshing, energetic and delightful, Ehd-e-Wafa’s first episode was just what the doctor ordered. It was the kind of first episode which makes you want to pick up the phone and call or message your best friends from college. I am completely sold, blown away by how perfect this first episode was and eagerly looking forward to more.

Sonya talked about her broken family and how she suffered in her childhood.
“My father left me and my sister when I was 8 years old. I am the eldest sister when I was born people used to say ‘oh, a daughter has been born’. My father was under pressure of society. They set this ideology in my father’s mindset that a son is very important. Due to this reason, he got married again, she revealed.”
She continued, “A miracle happened, my stepmother gave birth to a son and right after one month my mother also gave birth to a son. After this, my family started breaking. I had a very difficult childhood.”
Finally, my mother and father are back together. We are humans and we all commit mistakes, she concluded.
