Agha Ali Reveals a Secret of Actresses in Live Show

0

Why are secrets called secrets? Because they are not for anyone to know other than the person that has been entrusted with the information. Agha Khan seemed to have missed that important lesson or just ignored it in this case. He spilled all the beans in Nida Yasir’s show and his way of explaining the “secret” was so hilarious that even the host and her audience couldn’t stop laughing. It’s safe to say that the actresses who work with him in the future will be more mindful of sharing their “secrets”. It is to be noted that the actor wasn’t serious  and was just having some fun. But if his fun involves spilling secrets of his fellow celebrities then we definitely would like to see more fun interviews of him!

70 Years of Patriotic Songs!

A very happy Independence day to all Pakistanis across the globe. It has been 70 years since India got divided into two halves and a new country by the name of Pakistan was born. Millions of lives were lost to achieve a safe haven for the Muslims of India. We have come a long way since then.

Let’s be honest, there are so many things that we complain about our country day to day. But here’s also a fact that we usually fail to acknowledge; all the flaws that we observe are the result of our collective doings, or I should say ill-doings, as a nation. However, we complain because we expect better from our beloved homeland because we know it can be better. But even in the most critical moods, there is still a lot of love and respect for our country in our hearts. Yes, that’s what we call patriotism and nothing brings out patriotism more that national, patriotic songs. And today, on the celebration of the 70th Birthday of Pakistan, we have compiled a list of some the most hit national songs that have been produced by our artists over the years:

Pakistan is a great nation and we feel that within ourselves. Her beginnings were filled with hard work, dedication and courage, the reason why we progressed so much in the initial years of independence. We are still progressing, Shukar Alhamdullilah, but our pace has slowed down. Being Pakistani, it’s our responsibility to try our level best to contribute in the development and progress of Pakistan in whatever way we can. We owe it to those who sacrificed their lives for this country.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 7 Review – Reality Check!

“Cheat krne wale ko kuch nahi milta aur mil bhi jaye tu izzat nahi milti!”

This episode focused on Maya and Saif; it showed how Saif had no choice but to do exactly what Muzna and her father wanted him to do and this came as a rude shock to Maya who was expecting that her divorce would be the beginning of a new life. Maya anticipated something entirely different and gradually the reality of her situation is hitting her hard. Even now she will do anything to be with Saif because she took all these crazy decisions so that she could be with him and right now she is not willing to accept all those things she has heard about Saif even though he hasn’t exactly been “welcoming”. The viewers also found out Maya and Saif’s background story. Maya did not go running back to Saif the second he apologized but he worked hard to prove his love to her. She couldn’t have imagined that he had other ulterior motives.

Maya has been extremely selfish and she doesn’t deserve better because like Siraj uncle said cheaters don’t get very far! It looked like Maya had already started questioning her actions. When she was talking to Baila about Lubna, she said that it was because of her that she ended up telling Faris about Saif. When Baila said that she should be thankful to her for that, there was an awkward silence before she replied! This showed that she wasn’t really thankful to her since she did not get what she wanted as a result of the divorce. Maya’s state of mind was translated faultlessly on screen by Ayeza Khan. The character has been etched-out brilliantly too. Even with all her weaknesses and flaws, you can’t help but understand her character.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 7 Review - Reality Check!

Saif and Muzna’s scenes on the contrary were completely ruined by both the actors. I thought I would never say this about Zahid Ahmed because he always performs so well but in this particular drama his character does not only lack the charisma he promised it had but it also does not have an ounce of authenticity mainly due to the lackluster performance. The actress playing Muzna’s character is just plain wooden! She delivers her dialogues with absolutely no emotions or expressions therefore although her character could have been interesting, it is an eye-sore because of the way it has been translated on screen. Saif and Muzna’s situation is actually interesting but both the actors have failed to do justice to their respective roles.

Faris, Siraj Uncle and Dariya’s scenes on the other hand are always refreshing and impactful. Sami Khan, Rehan Sheikh and Mansha Pasha have nailed their characters. They have translated their characters in such a beautiful manner that you can’t help looking forward to their scenes. Although all these characters did not get a lot of screen time in tonight’s episode but just like every other episode, their scene was meaningful and they made their presence felt. Dariya’s character has been written brilliantly, I don’t remember the last time we saw such a character in Pakistani drama. She is not hoping that Faris might ask her to stay and she is making the most of her time while she is in the office as opposed to investing her energies into winning over Faris in some way. She is there for him like a friend even though she loves him.

The change in Maya’s mother’s attitude in this episode was also easy to connect too although Farah Shah too seems to overact at times but overall so far Zahid Ahmed and the actress playing Muzna are the weakest links in the drama. Even with its slow pace I find this drama interesting and the director deserves tons of credit for making it aesthetically pleasing. He has paid attention to minor details and has extracted some really good performances from most of the actors.

How many of you watched this episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Balochistan’s First Contemporary Film to hit Cinemas Soon!

Pakistan’s biggest province in terms of area is Balochistan. However, unfortunately it is the most behind in terms of development. The Balochistan film industry is the most neglected industry of all the provinces.

According to the producers the film “Sangat” will be the very first of its kind. It is an upcoming contemporary production of Baloch cinema. The producer Waheed Albushi, further said he and his team is looking forward to revive cinema in the province.

Though the Pakistani film industry is undergoing a revival of sorts, the Balochistan film industry has yet to develop as there is a dearth of the filmmakers here.

He further shared his grievances saying that the cinemas are being converted to shopping malls.

Watch Sahir Lodhi Getting Insecure On His Show

Sahir Lodhi, the self acclaimed Shahrukh Khan of our industry makes sure he remains in the news for one reason or the other. He is unprecedented in doing the oddest of antics on every public platform that he gets the chance to grace.

Last week on The Sahir Lodhi Show, he had invited the cast of Chain Aye Na and it was kind of a promotional show with clips from the movie and its songs.

To end it all, there was a dancing segment at the conclusion of the show. The guests of the show especially Behroz Sabzwari were dancing enthusiastically, when Sahir suddenly realised that it is his very own one man show and he just cannot let anyone.. anyone at all steal the stage. So hyper he goes, dancing wildly in the centre of all the people. His steps would put Nargis to shame. So much so that the other guests were kind of intimidated by this over the top performance and their moves become slower and slower as they gaped at Sahir of The Sahir Lodhi Show dancing on Afghan Jalebi song.

In case you have not had anything hilarious happening this Saturday, we present to you Sahir Lodhi ;

Ushna had a very humourous answer in response to that question but that’s not the most interesting thing about this conversation! She told the audience and her fans (possible suitors too) what quality is an absolute necessity for her future husband to have. Watch the video and find out what it is:

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 19 Review – Relatively Better!

This episode had some important developments to its credits which made it relatively more interesting but there were also a lot of scenes which were a little too slow and stretched to the limit. Ami Begum’s mind games in particular and Maheen’s mother’s antics were especially annoying. Neelam and Waqar’s scene was one of the best scenes of this episode; it was emotional and for the first time the viewers watched these two characters interacting on a completely different level. Waqar and Maheen’s track is complicated like most such track written by Khalil-ur-Rehman. Maheen shared the reasons why she was not getting in touch with Waqar and Waqar must have his own reasons too therefore these two will only meet when they finally decide to part ways! It was funny when Maheen’s mother locked her in the room and warned Fajr that only she could answer the phone when Maheen had her own cell phone with her!! How can her mother be so sure that she won’t call Waqar?

Waqar and Jia’s conversation was also very interesting! Jia’s proposal and Waqar’s suggestion both had ulterior motives. Jia also wanted to get married to Waqar but he has never shown any interest in her therefore at least right now she does not want to “help” him in any way. Just like Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua, this drama too shows how the male protagonist will sacrifice the love of his life to make other people around him happy. The women in both these dramas are important but they are definitely not the centre of attention. Also, the writer has put in more effort into giving the viewers a male lead they would feel for more than a female protagonist they would be rooting for! Right from the beginning Waqar has been a likeable character and a lot of viewers have been feeling for Gulrez. Maheen’s character has been the least likeable character among the main protagonists. Also, this is not the first time that Waqar is going to put everyone’s happiness before his own.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 19 Review - Relatively Better!

Ami Begum and Mehrunissa’s conversation could have been interesting if it didn’t look so staged! The dialogues are already heavy duty and the actors involved put in even more effort to deliver them in a distinctive manner which actually makes the whole scenario unrealistic and made-up. Gulrez’s voice in this episode also sounded dubbed and strange as well. Ayeza Khan’s acting when she was mimicking Ami Begum was right on point and funny.  Waqar’s character has been translated flawlessly on screen by Imran Abbas but his make-up artist has not done justice to his face. His beard also did not look neat when he was talking to Jia in the restaurant. In the first few episodes I really liked Saba Faisal as Ami Begum but now after watching all these episodes with Ami Begum getting so much screen time, I am convinced that her character could have been translated on screen in a much better manner if it was underplayed.

The preview of the next episode showed exactly what turn the story will take from here on. The viewers know what Waqar’s next move will be but it remains to be seen how Maheen will react to this new discovery. Will she get married to Gulrez? It seems highly unlikely. I am also wondering why at the beginning of this drama Neelam showed her hatred for Waqar by hitting him with a stone.

O Rangreza Episode 03 Review – Phenomenal Performances!

Ohkay so, another week, another brilliant episode of O Rangreza. I have said this before but I will say that again, you just can not keep track of time when this drama is on-air because it is so good. It is refreshing to see a unique story getting such a unique sort of treatment by the director because the execution is what makes or breaks a drama & the way the director has given attention to detail really takes it to another level. I know, the wait for Fridays is going to be quite long because the viewers would find it hard to wait for O Rangreza’s episodes week after week.

Well, I actually found it quite interesting how the focus from Sassi was shifted onto Khayyam in this episode especially & I think it was important for the viewers to get some more insight into his character. To me, Khayyam emerged as a coward who really has no backbone but thinks he is the man. The way a husband treats his wife defines who he truly is & the way Khayyam mistreats Mumtaz clearly shows that he is not only a bad husband but is a coward too. It isn’t only about Mumtaz in this case, it is also about Khayyam’s overall attitude in general with the people around him who are weak & don’t stand upto him because by treating them as doormats, he thinks he has the authority to do so as he is the man, the head, the in-charge of the house!

Khayyam is someone who can be manipulated easily & only by those whom he looks upto, because the way he immediately changed his behavior with Mumtaz after Sonia Jahan praised her shed a light on that in great detail as well. Also, Khayyam knows that in this case, he is walking all over his wife so he just threw in a few compliments as he knew that it would make her happy. The way Khayyam tried to cover up his selfishness by being ‘sweet’ with Mumtaz went to show that he wasn’t doing this for her, but in fact it was only to put his own heart to ease & to make himself feel better that he isn’t cheating on his wife. Another scenario where Khayyam emerged as a coward was when he took Sassi to see the shooting & then used her to give Sonia the impression that it was Sassi who brought him to the shooting & not the other way round. If Khayyam was a man of substance, he would’ve done everything openly without resorting to such strategies where he had to use his own daughter to make himself look noble.

Khayyam has always loved Sonia Jahan but even then, he is finding it hard to let her know, that is why he had that conversation with his friend where he gave him the assurance that even Sonia is interested in him. Again, if Khayyam was a man, he would’ve been upfront about his feelings first in stead of worrying about the fact if Sonia would reciprocate those feelings or not. The way Khayyam snubbed Qasim once again shed a light on his behavior where he thought being rude to someone as harmless as Qasim defined his masculinity. Giving bracelet as a token to his wife basically showed that he was trying to compensate for the pain that he knew he was going to cause her & sadly, it worked for him because Mumtaz has shut all the doors of her heart to be feeling the need to do something. Kareeman did try to knock some sense into Mumtaz that she should stand up for herself & should stop Khayyam but looks like Mumtaz has accepted everything as her fate & she is happy with this defeat. I actually feel for Mumtaz, I totally do, I understand her struggles & her pain & I know that she has no choice than to just accept everything that comes her way because Khayyam has deprived her of every right as a wife, but I am not sure how long I’d be able to feel for her, because after some time you stop sympathizing with those who don’t want to help themselves. I really wish there’s more to Mumtaz’s character than what we have seen so far, where she is perfectly fine with everything as far as she has the tag of being Mrs. Khayyam Sani!

Aww, I felt for Qasim so much. It was quite interesting how he developed this confidence in himself because he got the attention from a couple of girls, like it was enough for him to know that he is not as useless as Sassi thinks he is. Also, yes, Sonia Jahan’s comment that he looks like a hero did the trick & pushed him bit further as well, due to which he brought himself to the point where he could confess his feelings to Sassi & let her know what he actually thinks of her. His thoughts about Sassi were so pure & beautifully worded, he really has given her the highest rank in his heart but sadly, Sassi hasn’t understood that & before she could even find out, Mumtaz decided to stop him.

I must say, those were some very strong performances by both Irsa Ghazal & Bilal Abbas Khan. I loved how Mumtaz retaliated but also understood Qasim’s perspective, like she didn’t completely hold him responsible because she understood that he was at such a stage in his life where it was normal for him to get attracted to a girl who was around him every single day, but she had to put a foot down because she knew that Khayyam would never approve of this. Mumtaz knows that Qasim is a gem of a person & he would really be an ideal partner for Sassi but she has no courage left in her to face Khayyam that is why without even giving it a chance, she told Qasim to forget about Sassi & leave the house. Well, I think Mumtaz is lucky that out of all the people in this house, it is Qasim who not only feels for her but understands her struggles, that is why without even saying a word, he decided to follow her orders. As expected, Sassi gave him such a reaction which even he couldn’t understand but then again, that’s who Sassi is; unpredictable, where at one point Sassi actually looked concerned that he was leaving & on the other she ended up telling him to leave as well because she couldn’t put up with his tantrum & that again reminded me of Khayyam so much. Khayyam’s influence has shaped Sassi’s character exactly like him, that is why they both seem cold, indifferent & emotionally selfish where they would never ever budge for those they don’t value & this is exactly what Sassi did with Qasim!

Overall, this episode was beautiful & was filled with such phenomenal performances that I am in an awe. It is amazing to see a team coming together in order to bring something so unique for the viewers, like the writer had his vision, the director understood that vision & the actors did everything to bring that vision to life, it surely is a team effort & each & every single person associated with this team deserve a standing ovation. I love how every episode has so many flavors, like a bit of comedy, a bit of drama, a bucket load of emotions & most importantly perfection in every single aspect. Bilal Abbas Khan was definitely the star of this episode, Qasim also has so many shades but he only shows them when he is pushed or tested & Bilal Abbas Khan has made it possible to understand Qasim’s character easily. Noman Ejaz was brilliant as well, especially in his scenes with Sonia Jahan. I actually lol’ed during Khayyam & Qasim’s interaction so much like he actually showed how much he detested Qasim for interrupting him & Sonia, lol, those expressions by Noman Ejaz were priceless! Sana Fakhar has played her part well but I really think she should’ve hired a better makeup artist, like I am not sure if she deliberately went for a darker complexion or it was a mistake on the makeup artist’s part because in stead of looking beautifully dusky, she ended up looking ashy. Sajal played her part well too & Irsa Ghazal was phenomenal as well. I love love love the usage of the OST in this drama, it just adds so much of charm to the entire scenario. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of O Rangreza.

Cheers,

The First Song Of Coke Studio 10 “ALLAHU AKBAR” Released

After much wait and ado, Coke Studio Season 10 has finally landed into the screens with a great thud. The first song of the season “Allahu Akbar” has been released. The song has been sung by Shafqat Amanat and Ahmed Jahanzeb. The lyrics, composition and music direction all are the courtesy of Shuja Haider.

Here is the song:

After its experiment with National Anthem, Coke Studio received a lot of rebuke for playing with something that didn’t need their modification. But with Allahu Akbar, the tides have turned for the season. People are generally giving good comments about the music and composition, especially the singing duo.

It seems that Coke Studio has kicked off on a good note. But, how many hits and misses come that remains to be seen.

“I Felt Like Being Punched In The Stomach” – Mahira Says About Raees Premiere

Mahira Khan was recently invited at Aga Khan University’s Special Lecture Series to spoke about a lot of things surrounding her life, dreams and strength to cope up with failure.

Here is how she started off by promoting faith and encouraging people to have it while telling her own tale:

“Faith is a beautiful and important thing. And you know this more when you have lost it. When you are trapped in a dark place in life, faith helps you know that it will be okay,” she continued, sharing her struggles in college when she also held two jobs and had lost her living quarters. “Walking to the bus stand each day, I knew that one day there will be payback. That is having faith. And speaking of success brings us to failure. The truth is that we have all gone through failure. I have personally as well as professionally experienced failure.”

She also told that Bol and Humsafar were very abrupt choices on her part:

“I was advised by many people to not accept the role in Bol as it was a small one but my gut told me otherwise. I also decided to act in the serial Humsafar on my gut feeling.”

Mahira also revealed an extremely shocking detail about both her special projects:

“There are no repeats of your first film but somehow my name was missed as the Bol credits scrolled in front of me. Then for Raees, even though the teaser said ‘introducing Mahira Khan’, I felt like being punched in the stomach when there was no such credit in the film itself. Then when it was released, I was banned in India and the film was banned in Pakistan,” she said.

Nonetheless, she is positive about all she has acquired as of yet and won’t let mishaps bring her down:

“I was dreaming of wearing a sari and dancing like Madhuri Dixit. I also used to dream of working with Shah Rukh Khan. I did nothing to make it happen. I only dreamed and believed in my dreams.”
