Short Film Chashm-E-Num
In his latest conversation with images Ahsan Khan talks about his upcoming short film, expected to be released in the first week of December in commemoration of Disability Day,Chashm-e-Num. “There’s no trend for short films in Pakistan,”Ahsan said to images.”They rarely get a run in cinemas, even though this is common internationally. Major filmmakers around the world make short films. In Pakistan, even feature length films don’t get a decent run in cinemas . So,I thought I should make short films and introduce the trend.”
Chashm-e-num is about 2 visually impaired people falling in love, but a web of lies awaits them.
Other than Ahsan, the film stars Jasmin Khan and Amar Khan who is a filmmaking graduate from Beacon House Nationa University and also the writer of the film. The film features a song sung by Amanat Ali.
Ahsan Khan suggested that “We should make a lot of short films and hold festivals in Pakistani cinema and sell tickets, run eight to ten short films per day.” He also talked bout the risk he has taken by putting his money on this film, but he thinks its worth taking.

Dukh Sukh Episode 4 & 5 Review – More Dukh, less Sukh!
This installment was split into 2 episodes titled “Musafir”. Maya (Naveen Waqar) lives with her Mamoo (Babar Niazi), Maami (Shaheen Khan) and their two kids- Ali and Maryam. She is struggling emotionally and perpetually miserable. The story begins with Maya contemplating suicide but failing and her family lecturing her on how precious life is. More than anything, I was hugely distracted by Naveen’s clown-like big shoes and I may have missed some integral part of the story as I couldn’t understand why she was so miserable. After more failed attempts and her family’s concerns, out of nowhere appears a stranger, Sikander (Imran Abbas) who speaks in rhymes. The kids develop an instant liking to their Jadugar uncle and Maya is the only one who eyes him with curiosity. But almost overnight, the family warms up to him so effortlessly that they’re okay with two young children spending time with a complete stranger. My first reaction to seeing the stranger was that he may be some sort of a jinn. I was almost convinced when they show him quoting lines from a poem Maya penned down. The writer chose to leave plenty to the viewers imagination as there were far too many gaps in the story. I kept guessing whether Maya was traumatized as a child when her parents passed away or whether Maya was driving the car and responsible for their death or she was plain cuckoo.
Maya, who had lost the will to live for whatever reason, started spending time with Sikander who shared that he too was an orphan but lived life loving those around him and caring for others. He would salvage plants from the roadsides and bring them into the forest to replant them. He would visit the sick and dying and motivate them to consider each moment as a blessing. Slowly but surely, Maya realized she had so much to be grateful for but just when she started turning over a new life, time ran out for Sikander.
To be honest, there seems to be much more Dukh than there is Sukh in every episode. Each story is gravitating towards hopelessness and misery in some form or another. The scripts are being lost in translation with the director failing to capture the essence and often times a story may be intriguing but loses its impact when being converted into a screenplay. It seems like the producers are working on a shoestring budget and even though the shooting takes place in scenic locations, the lack of picture quality makes it unimpressive. Add to that the scarce resources- the wardrobe is heavily restricted to a handful of clothing. This story was penned by Ali Moin and I’m wondering if the weak direction of Sakina Samo coupled with budget constraints makes the end result a disappointment.
What are your thoughts about Dukh Sukh? Is it working for you?

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 5 Review – Slow But Emotional
This episode had some powerful performances to its credit but tonight’s episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai was more of a filler episode which was high on emotions but did not have much to offer in terms of story development. I had absolutely no trouble relating to what Mahi was going through, Aisha Khan’s brilliant performance and effortless portrayal was right on point but there were many times when I was wondering what is taking Mahi so long to figure out that she has the option of raising this child on her own. It is not an easy decision to make for any mother but then Mahi was never shown as a conventional woman. The scenes covering Mahi’s state of mind were poignant without a doubt and she will eventually come to a decision which will be her very own but in my opinion it would have been so much better if she made that decision in this episode. Also, watching every single person including Mahi’s mother, Zain’s father and even Sanam accept this decision like there was no other choice was somewhat awkward too.
I have read many interviews of people born with such birth defects and most of them never really fit in a family and end up with people who are like them but even then it is difficult to digest the fact that Mahi did not protest enough considering that she never thought of consequences when she was making difficult decisions for others. The fact that Mahi decided to take responsibility for a girl who was not even related to her went to show that she was not afraid of taking responsibilities and was quite independent. This side of Mahi’s character which we saw in the previous episode and this one is quite different from the Mahi we were all introduced to. She will eventually bounce back but this should be done soon otherwise the team of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai will only be relying on the emotional aspect of the situation and not focusing on a more plausible narrative.
Arshi got way more screen time than she should have in this episode. Her character is not likeable and most of her scenes conveyed the same message therefore they were repetitive. It was shocking watching Mahi’s mother leave the first time without meeting her daughter and I expected an emotional outburst when she came to meet Mahi but the scene was much more subtle, which isn’t always a great idea. Watching this entire family giving up on this newborn baby because he was not like them was truly upsetting and heart-wrenching.
I am all for directors who pay attention to details which make a drama esthetically pleasing but sometimes “compromising” on such aspects can help a situation. While Aisha Khan’s acting was truly impressive in tonight’s episode, her perfectly styled hair and heavy make-up stood out like a sore thumb. Syed Jibran’s matching shoes when he was sitting next to the pool and crying was not a coincidence either. I did not understand the conversation between Zain, his father and Zahir next to the swimming pool. How did they know what they said to Mahi?? All the actors in the play including Mehmood Aslam were wearing a lot of make-up in tonight’s episode. There was generally too much focus on making the actors look good although their lives are completely chaotic at the moment. Adnan Shah Tipu is one of the most versatile and talented actors in our industry and once again in this drama he has proven he can perform any role at all effortlessly.
Although this episode wasn’t my favorite episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai but I must admit that it was emotionally engaging, especially the scenes which covered Mahi’s state of mind were heartrending despite of the heavy make-up. The preview of the next episode suggested that things will take a turn for the better in the next episode. I am waiting for Mahi to take a decision so that we can watch fighting for her baby.

We all know that these REALITY shows have been recorded weeks and months before they’re aired on TV. But after all these appearances made by Saara, it has become quite obvious, that who wins the title of Miss Veet Pakistan 2016, Saara Hirji for sure. Which not only kills all the suspense but also leaves the show only to be watched for catfights between the contestants, celebrity guest appearances, challenges or tasks by the judges and then the so-called revelation or announcement of the winner on the Grand finale.
But at the end, we think that even if Saara is the winner of the title, she actually fits for it perfectly.
Those Pakistani Celebrities who couldn’t Make it BIG in bollywood
There are many Pakistani actors who have worked in Bollywood in the past and even right now there are many of them who are still looking forward to work in Indian films. Not all of the actors who have worked in Bollywood have made their mark there. These actors are talented nevertheless and have a massive fan following in Pakistan but somehow their careers in India didn’t take off because of various reasons.
This video focuses on those actors who did not make it big in Bollywood and also explains the reasons why they were not as big a success as some of the other actors.
Silah Episode 04 Review – The End!
Ohkay so, I think I have given this drama more time than it deserved. Even though the pre-cap of the next episode did suggest that things might change & Maryam & Taimur might enter a new phase in their lives but I still believe it is not going to be entertaining enough to watch those characters whom I haven’t warmed up to. The director did show us everything we wanted to know in the first 4 episodes but to be honest, none of it was enticing enough for me to keep going with this play so I think I’ll stop here!!!
This episode offered absolutely nothing & the pace was so slow that even staring at my mobile phone wasn’t making the time roll faster than usual. Silah is the sort of a drama that you can play in the background while doing your chores because it doesn’t require your utmost attention & the moment the scenes begin, you know what they are going to show beforehand because everything is so typical & predictable that you’ll have an idea without even paying attention!
Taimur’s parents decided not to budge & they proved to be more typical than normal. Nargis planned Taimur’s engagement with her niece without even asking Taimur about it because according to her, she was doing everything for Taimur’s better future. Nargis & Ehsan weren’t thrilled with the idea of Taimur dating a girl from a mediocre background & they didn’t hold back in showcasing their disapproval about his affair with her. I found it amusing that despite hearing from Taimur that he wasn’t ready to get engaged to his cousin, his parents not only invited Mishal’s family over for a dinner but chose to hold an engagement ceremony too without Taimur’s knowledge!
Like I said in the previous review, it seemed that Maryam’s parents didn’t want her to get married because they were depending on her keeping future in their minds but that thing was discussed by Maryam’s sisters in this episode where they spoke about how Maryam brings a few bucks by giving tuition because of which Aleem was also concerned that if he will marry Maryam off, how will he keep their family afloat!?!?! See, I told you already that all the situations & scenarios are so typical that you don’t even need to watch the future episodes to predict what is going to happen next!
Anyways, Taimur gets to know that his parents got him engaged to his cousin & then he asks Maryam if she will be able to take a stand for him? Oh bhai pehle khud to stand le lo, baad mai Maryam se poochna. Well, Aleem spots Maryam & Taimur together & tries to knock some sense into her that Taimur won’t get married to her because if he wanted he would’ve sent his parents to her home. Also, apart from all this, may I ask, which century does Razia belong to? She implied that sending daughters to university meant giving them a licence to flirt with boys? Seriously!?!?!?! Anyways, Maryam tries to make her parents understand that Taimur is sincere but looks like her delusion will be short-lived & she will get to know that Taimur can’t take a stand for her & they will become this star-crossed couple, jinko dekhne se behtar hai app balcony main kharay ho ke asmaan mai aslee sitare hi dekh lo because that activity will be more enjoyable than watching this drama actually!
Anyways, I am done with Silah or shall I say Dr. Maryam. I remember long time back I saw a list of comparisons between our actors & actors from the rest of the world who had some resemblance in their looks, so in that list someone had suggested that Ainy Jaffrey looked like Kristen Stewart, I will say that she does, but not only in terms of facial features but also in terms of acting too, because she is just as expressionless as Kristen Stewart. Farhan Saeed’s acting & presence in the drama didn’t give me anything to talk about so I will pass. Anyways, for those who’re watching this drama, I wish them good luck & happy viewing because it most certainly wasn’t a happy reviewing experience for me. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Silah/Dr. Maryam!
Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.
Choti Si Zindagi – An Overview
Produced by Momina Duraid, directed by Shaquille Khan and written by Sarwat Nazir, Choti Si Zindagi airs on HUM TV on Tuesdays at 8pm PST. The promos of this drama got my interest for sure and I do not mean that in a positive way. The cast comprises Shahzad Sheikh, Iqra Aziz and Nimra Khan in the lead roles and since none of them have left a lasting (good) impression on me before, I was not too keen to watch this drama. Until I saw that the writer is Sarwat Nazir. There is something about her dramas and the relationship between the couples that she portrays that interests me so I decided to give this one a go and although the first few episodes, in my opinion did not have me hooked, something about this play made me keep watching and 6 episodes down – despite some glitches, I am glad I did.
Choti Si Zindagi is the tale of two cities (I could not resist and had to be a bit Charles Dickens-ish). A period drama, if you will, set in the 1970s (an assumption for the drama only tells us at the beginning that the story is of ‘some’ years ago), the drama introduces the families of two brothers, one residing in Sahiwal while the other in Multan. Furqan (Tariq Jameel) is the older brother and has four daughters and a son Urwah (Shahzad Sheikh). While his sisters’ names Muzammil and Khurshid seemed a bit more believable as women often had male names back then, the name Urwah for the male lead caught me by surprise. Not only me it appears for he is made fun of later too at university for having a girlish name. We see that Urwah is traveling to the city to begin his education at the university there. While Urwah is portrayed as the obedient, innocent and slightly awkward young man we see the beginnings of revolt when he is not too happy about his father accompanying him all the way to the university. Having been raised in a small town, his personality has however been primarily shaped by his upbringing and his surroundings.
Furqan’s younger brother Irfan (Rashid Farooqi) lives in Multan with his wife (Farah Shah) and I-am-not-sure-how-many- daughters but the oldest is Ameena (Iqra Aziz). Irfan is unwell and is suddenly worried about his daughters and their marriages and is overjoyed when his brother asks for Ameena’s hand for Urwah. Ameena’s character is meant to be that of an immature and carefree young woman but honestly the way it is portrayed has often left me confused. School/college going – okay, immature and not wanting to do any housework –okay but the childish on the border of mentally unstable behaviour that Iqra Aziz has put into her character did not impress me at all. The loud guffaws, the whining, big eyed look – not on.
Anyway, Urwah’s room mate Sohail (Afraz Rasool) takes him under his wing, well not as sweetly as that sounds, but he introduces him to his friends. He misses no opportunity to poke fun at him when they are together though and although we get he is another carefree and polar opposite of Urwah kind of character, I found the escalating laughter every other second, a bit fake. Azra (Nimra Khan) as the rich yet refreshingly unspoilt and non bratty girl finds herself drawn to Urwah. I failed to see what might attract her to him except what she says herself that he is different and respects women something which she values greatly. Urwah is very awkward around her at first but seems to get comfortable as they meet more often.
When news of his engagement to Ameena is broken to him, Urwah balks and rushes home. He goes back with the assurance though that although engaged, his marriage is no time soon. That backfires too when his father’s jasoos, I mean friend in the city spots Urwah with Azra and reports back to him. Furqan feels it is time to get things moving and has Urwah rushing back home under the pretext that he is unwell. Emotional blackmail and the way things were back in that era prevent Urwah from sticking to his refusal and he is wed to Ameena.
Since I am not a very observant person, therefore if there were any slips in attention to detail then they went unnoticed by myself. I did however like the whole feel of the drama which made me feel I was taken back in time a bit. I enjoyed watching the wedding festivities too for they lacked the overly drawn out grandiose presentations and glamour so common in dramas generally, yet drew me in and that was refreshing in itself.
For me, Shahzad Sheikh is perfect as Urwah. His stiff and awkward demeanour, a young man trying to make sense of this new modern world and liking it yet held back by ties back home, indignant over Sohail’s outrage comments, flattered and awe struck by Azra’s attention, wanting to take a stand for himself but giving in to his parent’s wishes – I can not fault his performance. Iqra Aziz, on the other hand, while I appreciate for coming out of her clogs, I mean comfort zone and throwing herself into a different character, tries a bit too hard and has left me cringing at times. If only she could ditch the childish, lower lip jutting out dialogue delivery and the overly loud crying and comments which no matter how immature you may be do not seem fitting for a teenager – I could relate to Ameena more. Nimra Khan’s acting seems effortless although I still find it a bit difficult to see how Azra is attracted to Urwah to the point of wanting to marry him.
It seems Urwah is not ready to give up Azra yet or tell her of his marriage and since he will return to the city to complete his studies, I wonder how things will develop. How soon, if anytime soon at all, will Ameena ‘grow up’ and what will be the chain of events that will get her on that track? Will Urwah give up Azra? While Choti Si Zindagi does not rank up there amongst the dramas that have us hooked from scene to scene, or shock us with controversial, out of the box stories or emotional blockbusters that have us reaching for a tissue – there is something about the drama that lets you sit back and enjoy watching it unfold.
Oh – and this would not be complete without mentioning the OST and the background music that is often played during the episode and makes you want to, well – do this:
What do you all think of the drama so far – would love to hear your thoughts.

Noor e Zindagi Episode 19 Review – The Other Woman!
This episode showed us the characters moving into new phases of their lives – Saleem’s inclination towards Gulshan Ara and her family, Noor’s pregnancy and positive developments in Waseem and Zeb’s relationship. I am not sure what Khawar stands to gain by pushing Saleem towards Gulshan Ara but he seems to be making it his mission and Saleem, out of a sense of duty for his friend and also to upkeep his reputation as the respectable businessman of the neighbourhood, agrees to go deliver the grocery items to Gulshan’s house. While I found Saleem’s reactions and expressions to be spot on, the actress playing Gulshan Ara seemed to grate on my nerves. Do women trying to ‘ensnare’ a man really talk and act like that and do men fall for it? Hmm!
As far as the drama goes, Saleem seemed to be lapping it up but for now he just seems to be loving the attention being paid to him by all these women and does not seem to be blown away by Gulshan just yet. His mother and siblings love him but hearing Noor’s praise being sung day and night has started to make him feel like she has his family wrapped round her little finger and they do not love, appreciate or respect him anymore. That feeling has only magnified of late and enter Tabassum khala and her daughters and all the respect and attention and sweet talk really boosted his ego. Saleem has always been easily influenced by his friends but what I liked was that beneath all that he would have a twinge of guilt where he would question his own actions sometimes. He seems to have left all that behind and is increasingly only annoyed with Noor.
Noor fainted hence Noor is pregnant. Because obviously the two go hand in hand in our dramas. While Saleem’s family and Noor are overjoyed with this news, Saleem is nowhere to be found. Saleem’s mother’s overly dramatic and excited actions seemed a bit OTT initially but I have come to see her as a simple woman who is easily overwhelmed by her feelings and does not try to channel them or present them a certain way. Her reaction at the pregnancy did make me smile. For the first time, I truly disliked Saleem for his retorts and snide remarks when Noor tries to tell him about her pregnancy. Also, for the first time, the whole ‘I want to say/ meri baat sunein’ being left hanging in the air did not bother me for Noor could hardly be expected to just blurt out the news of the baby when Saleem was being mean or yelling at her to hurry on with his breakfast. I felt for her then and while his remarks and attitude were uncalled for and unnecessarily unfair, there was a hint of truth to them for well, that is pretty much all she says to Saleem. I like Noor but I feel she is forever trying to correct him and that makes Saleem get his back up even more. It takes two to tango and Saleem has made zilch effort to make this marriage work but while it is lovely that Noor cares about his family, maybe she could have spent more time trying to connect with him and understand him. I am not saying she is to blame, not at all or that Saleem is justified in his behaviour, except that Noor is maybe a tad too perfect and holier than thou and that irks me, I mean Saleem (!!) just a bit.
I cringed at the conversation between Noor’s older sister and her husband. When she says that a sensible loving woman is able to keep her husband from being drawn to another man, I thought automatically of Noor. For Noor is sensible and she does love Saleem and is right there in his house – yet it obviously appears that he is about to be drawn to another woman’s charms. With the exception of Saleem, Waseem and Zeb have everyone’s blessings and I liked how Zeb’s father says to her that there is nothing wrong with liking someone. With the exception of Noor’s older sister’s mother in law, I also like how the elders in this drama are sensible and positive characters.
I am curious to see what Saleem’s reaction will be when he hears he is about to become a father and whether, like Noor believes, this will change his attitude towards her at all? Is Gulshan Ara a short time distraction or will this end in marriage and will Noor find out? The two dramas penned by Sarwat Nazir that I have watched lately present a happy ending for the female lead at least but not necessarily with the male lead so I am curious to see how this plays out. I had difficulty linking Ayesha Khan to Noor at first but her hurt and feelings were very aptly portrayed in tonight’s episode especially her final scenes with Syed Jibran. Syed Jibran has totally won me over as the insecure, uneducated man who is easily swayed by anyone but his family. His mannerisms and expressions especially in his scenes with Gulshan Ara were so good that even though I can see where this is headed and I should dislike him, he still made me laugh. To be honest, I missed that there was not much screen time devoted to Saleem and Noor’s scenes together in this episode and was not very interested in Gulshan Ara or Zeb and Waseem’s track and hope to see more of Noor and Saleem in the next episode for that is another reason I find myself drawn to dramas penned by Sarwat Nazir that she focuses on the lead couple’s relationship with each other. What did you all think of this episode and the latest developments? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Mahira Is The Madhuri Of Pakistan
The man behind some of the greatest hits like Humsafar, Shehr e Zaat and Manto(film) one and only Sarmad Khosaat has never failed to entertain people with his work.
In one of his recent interview in where he spoke about his association with the TV, the film world, his thoughts and even dreams, when asked about his favorite heroines, he named Madhuri Dixit and gave her full marks but at the same time complimented Mahira Khan by saying that she reminds him of Madhuri and Madhubala.
We definitely agree with Sarmad, Mahira has impressed everyone with her acting abilities, her dedication towards her work and truly deserves all the praises… Isn’t it?

Dil Banjara Episode 6 Review – A Visual Treat
Ladies and gentlemen, Dil Banjara has finally taken off! The stunning locations, impressive cinematography and characters which are different from what we usually see in plays are making Dil Banjara a drama I can look forward to watching every Friday night. I truly appreciate the fact that the team of Dil Banjara isn’t rushing the developments in the story in an attempt to grab the attention of the viewers. Everything that was covered in this episode and even the previous one was shown in detail without putting the viewers to sleep. Adnan Malik and Sanam Saeed’s on-screen chemistry is working for me for now and there is nothing “cheesy” about the dialogues although there were quite a few romantic dialogues in this episode. Also, the director has put Nepal’s scenic beauty to good use by shooting most of the scenes outdoors.
Tonight’s episode opened with Nida’s mother waking up in the middle of the night, worried sick about her daughter. Once again her character traits were covered flawlessly and her honesty is truly admirable. In the previous episode she was conveniently distracted and in this episode the viewers watched her worrying sick about her daughter number of times. Her disappointment with Nida and Nida’s father’s reaction were covered well too. Sikandar and Nida gradually became friends and although Nida tried her best not to get too involved in the extracurricular activities but she ended up doing just that because of Sikandar and her friend. The scene in the bus and the trip was covered so beautifully that I felt like I was a part of that group. It reminded me of all those trips which I have taken with my college mates. It was nostalgic and spot on. Sikandar is not perfect neither is he an ideal like Mohid but his character is very interesting and he is playing a very active role in the story. This is Sikandar’s story just as much as it is Nida’s unlike many heroes who are usually relegated in the background. The most interesting part is that this isn’t Nida and Sikandar’s story alone but the supporting characters like that of Shama and even Nida’s father will have a bigger role to play in the drama as the story moves forward. The scene in which Sikandar gave Nida his scarf was filmy but really cute.
Sikandar has chosen to enjoy his trip and has conveniently forgotten Shama. This aspect of his personality clearly goes to show that he is not very responsible when it comes to maintaining relationships even when they are with people who are so close to him and that he lives in the moment. He obviously has no feelings for Shama and is not willing to deal with this entire “situation” right now. While Sikandar role as a “banjara” has been well-established in these few episodes, I had a difficult time relating to Nida’s personality in that context.
Zahra’s story took a new turn with this episode. A little bit about her past was revealed and I am wondering if the man who was shown in that scene was the same man who just got divorced. Zahra’s life is monotonous, she is frustrated most of the times and the viewers will gradually find out more about her character. Her mother’s obsession with housework and the solutions she presents to her problems were very amusing! Deepak’s character was also introduced in this episode, it is good to see Adnan Saeed on screen again but I do feel like he went slightly overboard in his first scene. Sharmeen Kashif is quite likeable in this character unlike her characters in Zara Yaad Kar and Saya-e-Dewar Bhi Nahin.
Although I truly enjoyed watching this episode of Dil Banjara but once again I missed the scenes in which she could have been shown romancing with nature, falling in love with it. Sanam Saeed looked very pretty in some of the scenes tonight and it would have been great watching her think about how she felt about being in this beautiful place. Adnan Malik has definitely grown on me mainly because of the fact that his acting in this episode and the previous one was much better than in the first few episodes. The OST was used intelligently in this episode as well; I really enjoyed the scenes in which it played in the background.
My favorite scenes in tonight’s episode were the ones in which the OST played in the background when Sikandar said to Nida “mein tumhei nahin khone du ga” and the scene in which Shama was drawing Sikandar’s sketch, although Mira Sethi’s make-up in that scene was overdone but that beautiful room was captured flawlessly. Which was your favorite scene from tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.
Mawra Uses Twitter To Speak For Pakistan
Pakistani actress, Mawra has been criticized every now and then for not speaking or standing against Indian hatred and enmity. The criticism further increased after her Bollywood debut with film Sanam Teri Kasam.
The tweets below describe criticism for Mawra the best:
All the criticism can probably be one of the reasons why Mawra raised her voice against disgraceful and abhorrent remarks made by an Indian filmmaker, Anubhav Sinha in his upcoming film, against Pakistan.
In the film, there’s a conversation between actors Aditya Seal and Meher Vij about a Pakistani guy:
“Mahawl toh pata hai wahaan ka. Kabhi yaha bomb phat rahe hai kabhi waha”.
“Pakistan mein ladke hai bhi kahan? Aadhe toh cricket khelte hai aur baaki ladkon ka kuch thik nahi hai.”
Mawra replied to these harsh comments using Twitter:
It's rather insensitive to say" kabhi yahan bomb kabhi Waha bomb" only if you could fathom the loss & grief of it!!Tasteless gag! 💔 #TumBin2
— MAWRA (@MawraHocane) November 16, 2016
Pakistan is a victim to terrorism & it's nothing to be made fun of in a film. It's unfortunate & I wouldn't wish it on anyone 💔💔💔 #TumBin2

By standing up against the wrong, against the hatred towards her country, Mawra has once again succeeded in winning the hearts of many Pakistanis. We’re proud of you Mawra!!
Noor Bukhari Announces Her 4th Marraige
Actress Noor Khan started her journey in the industry by debuting as a child star in Pakistani films in the Mid-1990s. She was recently seen in film Ishq Positive alongside Wali Khan, directed by herself, written by Suraj Baba and produced by Shazia Hussain Kashif Latif.
Noor married her first husband Vikram in early 2008. In April of that year, she moved back to Lahore, Pakistan and filed for divorce because Vikram had lied to her that he had embraced Islam prior to their marriage.
She had then married film producer/director Farooq Mengal but separated from him four months later and eventually divorced him as well. Then Noor Bukhari married Awn Chaudhry in 2012 and this was her third marriage. In June 2015, we got to hear rumors about the marriage of Film actress Noor and singer Wali Hamid Khan, but any kind of relation like that was denied by both parties.
All of a sudden, Noor reveals her marriage with Wali Khan, she reasoned her marriage being a secret by saying; “I was waiting for the right time to make the announcement. Now, I have understood Wali in two years, so making my marriage public“.
So Noor’s marriage with Wali Khan is her fourth marriage or should we say Marriage On Trial. Well, we just hope that this relation lasts.

Seeta Bagri Episode 01 Review – A Colorful Beginning!
Ohkay so, the production of Cereal Productions, writing & direction of Iqbal Hussain; Seeta Bagri hit our TV screens last night on TV One & can I just say, I am impressed. The moment you’ll start watching the episode, you’ll feel like you’re watching a Bollywood film & I am most certainly not complaining because I loved every bit of filminess of the episode.
The episode began with a narration telling us about the small fraction of Hindu community that chose Pakistan as their home at the time of partition. The main concern of those people was the fact that if they’ll settle in India, they will be judged on the basis of their caste but just because they felt they’d be free of all those boundaries & labels in Pakistan, they chose it as their home. Then, immediately after the narration, we were introduced to one of the families of Hindu community, settled in Karachi & oh well, that introduction was extravagant, vibrant & cheerful. Even though this drama is making the viewers familiar with the small community that resides in Pakistan, I loved the fact that the writer & the director didn’t show them as any less or any different to the rest of te Pakistanis. They were happy, they had good lives & they seemed emotionally settled otherwise I had a doubt in my mind that may be they will show us the set of problems & social pressures they face on the basis of their religion but that didn’t seem to be the case, at least in the very first episode. I am sure things will get a little complicated in the future but for starter, the director did leave such an impression that even if he will shed a light on certain issues, he will most certainly tackle everything intelligently.
We were introduced to a family of Badrinath (Qavi Khan) & his daughter Seeta (Sarwat Gillani) who belong to Bagri tribe. Badrinath did well for his small family & gave his daughter a humble yet comfortable lifestyle. Badrinath’s tenants are two orphan siblings Ratan Lal (Syed Jibran) & Mala Rani (Shameen Khan). Ratan & Seeta love each other & their love isn’t hidden from Mala who wholeheartedly supports her brother & Seeta. Badrinath suffers from epilepsy but he still tries to keep himself active because he knows he has a daughter to take care of & he has to get her married too. Even though Ratan loves Seeta a lot, he is suffering from financial crisis but at least Seeta supports him morally & motivates him to complete his education so that he can settle down & propose their marriage in front of Seeta’s father. Ratan works as a carpenter & has a huge debt to pay off. Mala Rani is young & peppy, but she also feels she should do something in order to support her brother but has no idea where to start from. Seeta believes in empowering herself from education, that is why she keeps on reminding both Ratan & Mala about the importance of education too.
We were also introduced to Nadnini Daas (Bushra Ansari), a businesswoman who owns a small business of bangles in Hyderabad. Nadini is single & she is a hopeless romantic but her instinct tells her that she should move to Karachi because her love awaits her there. Saeen (Shabbir Jaan); an iron-smith loves Nandini to an extent of being obsessed with her. Saeen wants to get married to Nandini but Nadnini keeps on rejecting his proposal because according to her, she doesn’t love him & she will only get married to the one she will actually fall in love with.
Badrinath’s friend suggests a proposal for Seeta upon hearing how Badri is concerned about her. Just when Badri tells Ratan that he is considering marrying Seeta off, Ratan gets upset but even though Badri couldn’t see it, his friend understands that may be both Seeta & Ratan are interested in each other. Even though Ratan is a tenant, he, Mala, Badrinath & Seeta share strong ties with each other & they actually live like a close knit family. Seeta & Mala share a beautiful bond with each other & they are best of friends who support each other emotionally too. Ratan feels burdened because of all the favors Badri & Seeta have done for him & his younger sister till date but Badri always tries to encourage him because he can see how hardworking Ratan is.
Nandini Daas moves to Karachi & she has a hard time escaping from Hyderabad because Saeen tails her & he openly declares that he will follow her wherever she’d go. Nandini & Ratan come across each other too because Ratan goes to Hyderabad to get a furniture order. I am sure this won’t be the first & the last time they both will meet because this small interaction will actually turn out to be a beginning of their story!
Looks like Aleezay Ahmed & Taimur Zaki; two university students will come across the Hindu community due to their volunteer work for an NGO. Aleezay feels passionately about bringing a change in the society & just because Taimur happens to be her friend, he hops on board with the idea. I am sure they will play an important role in the future episodes where may be through their NGO, they will bring some sort of change in the Hindu community.
Overall, the first episode was brilliant & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I will say that in the initial moments I felt that the characters were acting a bit too dramatically but then as the episode progressed, everything settled down & it was only Mala & Seeta’s interaction that had the entire Bollywoodish feel to it because they both are like that, where they bring out the child in each other & they are just being themselves when they are with each other. I actually liked watching their interactions because they made my mood cheerful. I will say that every single actor, from Qavi Khan, Shabbir Jaan, Bushra Ansari, Sarwat Gillani, Shameen Khan, Syed Jibran, all of them did a wonderful wonderful job. I don’t know what is it but every single time Syed Jibran succeeds in owning his character right from the beginning & it happened this time around too. From his entry in the song to his very first conversation with Seeta, he gave it all & looked perfect as Ratan Lal. Syed Jibran is such a powerful actor & I can’t wait to see how he will elaborate Ratan’s story on screen. Sarwat Gillani looked absolutely stunning & after a long long time, I felt that Sarwat acted effortlessly, it looks like her dialogue delivery has improved a lot & she didn’t seem hesitant in delivering dialogues which actually used to be a weakest point of her acting. From being peppy with her best friend Mala, to throwing tantrums in front of her love interest Ratan, to being an overly concerned daughter to Badri, Sarwat portrayed all the roles of Seeta to perfection. All the other actors fitted their roles perfectly, Shameen Khan was effortless as Mala & then all the experienced actors like Qavi Khan, Shabbir Jaan & Bushra Ansari made their presence felt in the very first episode. I had a great time watching the first episode of Seeta Bagri, the direction for sure was phenomenal & to-the-point, it was dramatic & filmy when needed, but also very thorough in the scenes that required such detailing. The OST was quite different & good to listen to as well. I will give extra points to the set designers for adding so much of colors in the background, everything looked lovely. I can’t wait to see the next episode already, please share your thoughts about this colorful & impressive first episode of Seeta Bagri!

Cheers,

Dumpukht- Atish-e-Ishq Episode 18 Review- A dangerous game
Billu has lost everything and he’s got nothing left to lose which is why he challenged Wali and questioned his intentions. Tauheen sirf gaddi pe behtney waley logon Ki hoti hai kya? Meri hadd sirf Kulsoom hai… It comes as no surprise that it’s a matter of do or die for Billu. Habibullah is spinning a web around Kulsoom and unfortunately, she can’t seem to see through him. I think Nimmo’s unabashed thinking was what triggered the rest of the family to ponder but she’s since been silenced. Pehley Dargah mein dafan honay ja rahi thi na abb Murshid ke ghar mein Jakay dafan ho.… Even though she’s been forbidden from meeting her, Nimmo continues rooting for Kulchu and Billu which is why she’s trying to make her family understand that they need to bring her back home.
Bibi felt the same way- she wanted Kulsoom to return home to her loved ones but it’s sad that her mother seems to think otherwise. Now that Kulsoom is married to Haroon, she has become a subject of ridicule and Tahira is still too engrossed in her false pride to feel for her daughter. Bibi was adamant that she will have Kulsoom return home and Habibullah almost had a slip of tongue when he mentioned his fear. He hinted at Kulsoom eloping and referenced his own kin. I wonder if there’s a backstory to what he let on- Hamarey gharaaney Ki larkiyan bhaag chuki hai…
Every time I see Habibullah approach Kulsoom he appears like a hungry lion ready to pounce. He’s gotten Kulsoom accustomed to his touching which is probably why she doesn’t realize his true intentions- how much more of a dead giveaway could there be? Ankhon mein Aakhein daal ke baat kiya Karo… Harey huay ko sirf hara hua hi sahara desakta hai… mein tumhari tanhai ko samjh sakta houn…
He knew that Bibi wouldn’t give in once she made up her mind so he worked his way through Kulsoom and had her convince Bibi. Kulsoom is still determined to meet Bilal one last time and she actually requested permission from Habibullah. Peer Sayeein knows better than to keep the lovers apart for too long but also knows he’s still got an invaluable assets in the form of Haroon on his side. Uss larkey Ki jeet mein hi hamari jeet hai Aur us Ki haar mein hamari fatah…Ya Bilal Haroon ka gala daba dai ya Haroon Bilal ko goli mardey…
I’m so looking forward to seeing how this plays out. It just keeps getting more and more exciting with each passing episode. The previews keep me hanging on and I’m thankful they don’t give away the story so the unpredictability remains intact. What did you think of this episode? What will be the turning point?

Moray Saiyaan Episode 02 – A Feel Good Drama!
Ohkay so, this episode was Moray Saiyaan was interesting. I think the selling point of this drama at this stage is the cast & the location. Even though the actors are all new-comers & even though you can see some sort of discomfort & effort in their acting, you can definitely cut them some slack because of the fact that it is actually quite refreshing to see some new faces on screen after a long time with such an amazing direction.
So, our hero Ghaziyan continued with his plan of pestering Zubaria because he wanted to cheer her up & luckily he got to spend a lot of time with her too. Ghaziyan actually shifted to Gul Bibi’s place for a few days despite knowing that Zakia won’t appreciate any of that but he actually doesn’t care because he is a bit too self-sufficient & keeps himself independent of any situation which can be used to emotionally blackmail him. So, Ghaziyan throughout was on a hunt for opportunity to have a conversation with Zubaria but she always responded back in a way to give him a clear message that she was not interested in having any kind of friendship with him & she liked being left alone. Just because Gul Bibi got a bit busy with her visits to the hospital, Ghaziyan got a chance to divert Zubaria’s attention on him but he found out that no matter what he’d do or say, Zubaria will remain unaffected.
Throughout the first episode, I was under the impression that Nimra & Ghaziyan were engaged to be married, that is why Zakia & Ghaziyan’s father were having a conversation about arranging their marriage but by the end of this episode, it didn’t turn out to be the case. Ghaziyan actually wants to make everything right in his family but looks like his approach isn’t right. He is actually ignoring Zakia to be with Gul Bibi, so how does he think will make her feel about Gul Bibi, especially knowing how Zakia is so possessive about him? I think in stead of spending time with Gul Bibi, Ghaziyan should have had some conversations with Zakia & repeatedly at that, in order to convince her & also to understand her perspective about this entire situation. Yes, at this point, Gul Bibi got a bit busy so he chose to stay at her place to accompany Zubaria & Khalil, but he still can not be ignorant of the fact that Zakia won’t be happy with him. It is totally understandable that Ghaziyan is a free-bird & he does what he likes, but where he plans on bringing his entire family together, he can not turn a blind eye especially from Zakia who is far more rigid, egoistic & paranoid, in comparison to Gul Bibi. Even Ghaziyan knows that Gul Bibi is very lenient & easy-going, so in stead of spending time with her & telling her again & again that he wants to amend the situation & broken ties, he should spend more time with Zakia to be able to convince her.
Nimra has always been in love with Ghaziyan & she has always dreamt of him as her life partner, that is why she feels affected when she sees no contact from Ghaziyan. It looks like Nimra ended up having a lot of expectations based on her one-sided love & everyone in their family, including Ghaziyan’s father decided to get Ghaziyan & Nimra married without even knowing Ghaziyan’s opinion on this. Nimra is obviously going to have a heart-break but it will be sad to see that happening to such a nice girl, who is so optimistic & nice, despite living under an influence of a mother like Zakia.
I liked the fact that they have added this entire professional thing in this drama, where there is some focus on the doctors & their routine too. I liked seeing Dr. Farah’s scenes & her conversations with everyone. I am definitely looking forward to her & Altamash’s track, I am sure it has something to do with Kabeer, who is Zakia’s husband. Well, the note at which this episode ended left me a bit confused, especially in regards to Ghaziyan’s stand on the entire situation. I mean I am not sure if this was done purposely or was a glitch on the writer’s part because how can a guy not know that his entire family is planning to get him married to a certain girl, while he on the other hand is dreaming of getting married to someone else, who he knows won’t be accepted by his family easily. As far as Ghaziyan’s father is concerned, he will accept Zubaria but how will Ghaziyan explain everything to Zakia who is so possessive about him & wants to see him as her son-in-law? I think the writer made a giant leap without establishing everything properly because this makes Ghaziyan’s character seem a bit too impulsive & immature. At one hand, Ghaziyan focuses on bringing his family together but on the other hand, he says something so random, that he knows will give rise to more family issues. Also, I am not sure how can Ghaziyan fall for Zubaria so easily while completely forgetting about Nimra, because in the first episode, we got an impression that Ghaziyan was engaged to Nimra & also, he said he just found Zubaria mysterious & wanted to cheer her up, which was actually quite nice for a change. It think it would have been better if the writer & the director had taken things especially in this matter a little slow, like if they had shown that Ghaziyan became friends with Zubaria first & just when he was getting to know her better & better, he ended up falling in love with her, because all of a sudden, to see Ghaziyan’s focus shifting from his family issues to his marriage without anyone’s consent seemed a little abrupt & not too well-thought out. Also, looks like Zakia will conveniently blame Gul Bibi for this entire situation & also for pushing Zubaria in Ghaziyan’s life, let’s see!!!
Overall, I had a good time watching this episode. I liked the conversations between Ghaziyan & Zubaria, also their scenes were a treat to watch. I will say that apart from Kinza Hashmi, both Uzair Jaswal & Neha Farooq seem to be struggling with acting but I will definitely give them a benefit of doubt knowing it is their first project & also for the fact that they look so cute together. I liked the chemistry between Uzair/Ghaziyan & Neha/Zubaria so I’m definitely looking forward to their journey. I know it is going to be a love-triangle scenario but as far as it is going to be a feel good drama, I have no complaints. :) Also, I am quite happy that this drama doesn’t have a lot of negative characters, yes, we do have 1 in the form of Zakia but she is not completely negative, she is just someone who likes to think of herself as a victim of circumstances, but apart from that, everyone seems so optimistic & admirable, which is a bonus. I loved loved loved the locations & all the homes they have chosen for shooting this drama, for someone like me who is interested in interior designing, it gives me immense joy to look at aesthetically pleasing backdrops. The direction of this drama is on-point & I actually like the usage of the OST as well. I am quite happy with the progress of the story, let’s see how it unfolds. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan!

Sang e Marmar Episode 12 Review – Absolutely Beautiful!
Ohkay so, it was yet another beautiful episode of Sang e Marmar. I think the strength of this drama is the way all the emotions have been elaborated on screen & what makes them even more powerful are the dialogues that back those emotions up. It happens quite rarely in a drama where the viewers actually form a connection with each & every single character, where they understand what all the characters are going through & the viewers get to understand their struggles too & this drama beautifully portrays that.
This episode focused on how the dynamics in Gulistan’s house changed with the entry of Shireen. It focused on how each & every single family member was affected one way or the other with the Shireen & Safiullah’s marriage. From Safiullah to Gullalai to the mother to Sherbano to Palwasha to Aurang & to some extent Torah as well, all of them were linked to this marriage that took place & were now contributing one way other to make things right or to pick up the pieces. I loved how the director gave an importance to all the characters & showed us their participation in this regard.
Saif ur Rehman did realize that a lot of pieces were missing from the puzzle & what made him more curious was his conversation with Baroo Kaka. Just when Durkhane kept the truth to herself after being asked by Saif ur Rehman, I really felt anxious but then fortunately, she told him just what he needed to know that neither Shireen was interested in Gohar nor she went to meet him. I am sure Saif ur Rehman knows that a bit too well that he can not do anything now but at least, what he can do is find out the truth so that he can ask for Shireen’s forgiveness & ease some of her burden that she may be feeling knowing that her brother misunderstands her. I am sure finding the truth won’t be easy for Saif ur Rehman because his wife will keep on confusing him more & more.
Safiullah’s mother tried to resolve things as much as she could, as she knew that now she couldn’t do anything but what she could was make Shireen a part of her family. Shireen’s mother in law knew that Shireen was innocent & most importantly she was now Safiullah’s wife, so she deserved all the rights everyone in their family had. Gullalai was finding it hard to accept everything that was happening but it was actually quite heart-warming to see that even though the mother in law wanted to be just with both of her daughters in law, she still understood Gullalai’s pain. She wasn’t oblivious of everything that was going through Gullalai’s mind & all those reasons that were clouding her judgment but she also knew that Shireen was already struggling & she needed someone to make things easier for her.
It wasn’t easy for Gullalai to accept Shireen & looks like she won’t be able to do that ever, that is why despite everyone’s attempts of making her understand, Gullalai didn’t leave an opportunity to display the detest she felt for Shireen. It was good to see that at least Gullalai knew that she had to make a team with Shireen against Sherbano, otherwise Sherbano will make things difficult for both of them, but then, her courtesy with Shireen ended at that point & she couldn’t put up an act or sugar-coat her feelings because every-time she looked at Shireen, she was reminded of all the things she didn’t or couldn’t have, for which Shireen was brought into this home.
Palwasha came into the foreground & emerged as Shireen’s well-wisher & I thoroughly enjoyed her presence. I loved Palwasha’s stand on this entire situation where she not only tried to make Shireen comfortable, but also tried to make Gullalai realize that she was being a bit too harsh. Palwasha’s sole reason behind supporting Shireen was the fact that Shireen was a victim of circumstances & Palwasha understood that. Also, Palwasha felt bad for the way Sherbano & Gullalai treated Shireen & just because she has a soft corner for Shireen in her heart due to being her childhood friend, she went out of the way to comfort her. What I loved the most was when Palwasha tried to reason with Gullalai & told her to stand by Shireen because just as much as Gullalai was a victim, Shireen was a victim too & in this male dominant society, the least these women could do was support each other despite being in such a relation which no woman likes. It was a beautiful message that was given through this episode. I loved the way Palwasha handled the entire situation & also told Aurang to have a word or two with Shireen. It was made clear that even Aurang is interested in Palwasha, may be that’s why he stepped back from getting married to Shireen as he pictured Palwasha as his life partner. Sadly, Shireen got to have a conversation with Aurang & she didn’t hold back in telling him the truth which disturbed Aurang a great deal, not sure how he will be able to deal with this burden, but I am sure it won’t be an easy journey.
The most powerful scene for me in this episode was Sherbano & Torah’s first conversation that they had after getting married. That was the moment when Sherbano told Torah that he held no important in her life only because she thought of herself as a blue blood in comparison to Torah & his complexion was also a label placed on him due to which Sherbano looked down on him. That scene depicted the clash of egos between Sherbano & Torah beautifully & also it showed us the promises they both made to each other against one another. Torah knew that there may come a time when Sherbano will regret her decision but Torah on his own is so iron-willed that he would never go against his word, that is why after having a conversation with her mother, Sherbano did feel the void in her heart & may be she would want to make amends but Torah on the other hand has gone way too far & there’s no turning back for him!
Overall, this episode was power-packed, intense yet so beautiful. I loved Kubra Khan in this episode once again, she has portrayed the feelings of Shireen impeccably. Also, the actress who takes the crown in this episode is the one who is playing Gullalai. I just loved her acting – the way her body language changed in every single scene was so amazing. She sat in front of Shireen arrogantly, trying to show her that she still had an upper-hand while still struggling to hide her insecurity & complexes but the moment she faced her mother in law or husband, she tried to portray that she was a victim too & there was this humility & hopelessness in her body language. It was amazing. Also, Sharmeen Kashif did a great job in this episode too. I loved the way the ladies ran the show in this episode & each one of them is beautiful in her own way. Also, I can not emphasize enough on the fact that keeping the overall look minimal of all the ladies is so appeasing & so real. The entire bare-faced look actually enhances not only their beauty but the beauty of the characters that they are portraying. I commend the vision of the director & also the makeup artists for giving everyone a no-makeup look, which was absolutely necessary for portraying these type of characters & I will commend the actresses for sporting this look & making their characters look so genuine & realistic. It is actually quite nice to not being distracted by makeup on the actresses faces, but being captivated by their acting. I will thank the director for keeping everything just so real, be it in terms of emotions, conversations, personalities & acting, nothing seems like a ‘drama’ in this drama, which I believe is the beauty of Sang e Marmar. I can not wait for the next episode because looks like Saif ur Rehman will do some more digging & Torah will continue with his plan of destruction. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Sang e Marmar.
Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.
Reham Khan Reveals Why She Chose Armeena Khan
Film, Janaan came out two months ago, but it’s only now that the film’s co-producer, Reham Khan decided to share why she chose actress Armeena Rana Khan for playing the female lead.
Talking to Express Tribune, Reham Khan shared, “I picked Armeena because of her accent and intonation. The character was written with Armeena in mind. Her petite frame and her delicate voice was what I was looking for to describe how a woman can be strong despite being very feminine. My story required an overseas accent but an actor who could speak Urdu too.”
Reham Khan wants to work with actors who are relatively new to the film industry. Satisfied with the Janaan experience, she wants to continue to contribute to Pakistani cinema. ”It gives me even more courage to stand tall and not allow any negativity to be a hindrance in way of what I want to achieve.”
Do you think Armeena Khan was the right choice?

Rizwan Ali Jaffri Talks About His Upcoming Film
Rizwan Ali Jaffri will be making his debut in Rafay Rashidi’s upcoming film Thora Jee Le in which he will play a rich philanthropist orphaned early in life. The film is scedualed to be released in the February 2017.
In a recent conversation, Rizwan told Images about his debut film;
“It’s a film about relationships and friendship,” he says. “I play the role of Kaizaad, a rich philanthropist orphaned early in life.”
“A friend of mine has a talent agency, she called me up and hooked a meeting with the director. I heard the script and liked the story.” he shares.
He stated that; “It might sound a bit cliché but the whole shoot was a roller coaster ride I’ll never forget. Plus, it’s my first feature. I put a halt on all other projects to focus on this. We shot for long hours and had a lot of fun. Traveling together and cracking jokes was always fun, we became a small family. The whole experience has been memorable,”
On being asked about transitioning to films he said” Its Too early to say”.
He expressed his opinion about Pakistan Film Industry by saying that;
“Our film industry is raw and needs time and investment to grow,” he says. “Corporations and governments can play an important role in strengthening this industry. Films are being made and yes, I am getting offers but to say I want to pursue a career [in film] right now would be premature. However, I would love to do more films, explore more of my acting skills. I have done dramas but film has its own joy. I’ve never seen myself on the big screen and it’s something I’m looking forward to.”

Sanam Saeed Talks About Dobara Phir Se
Film Dobara Phir Se is going to be the fouth film of the proficient actress Saman Saeed, in the year 2016. She played the spunky character of Aliya in Bachaana and then the character of manipulative charmer, Naina Kanwal in film Mah e Mir.
Sanam As Naina
Sanam As Aliya
“So, when Sanam landed in the US for a vacation, I couldn’t resist bagging the chance to chat with her about Dobara Phir Se and more.” says Sheeba Khan from Images.
Images: Hi Sanam! What brought you to the US?
Sanam: I was here on a short vacation with my friend Zoe Viccaji.
Images: How are promotions for Dobara Phir Se going?
“Promotions are insane! It’s the toughest part about making a movie for us actors at least.”says Sanam.
She also added; “We are on the go from 8.30am to 8.30pm. From morning shows to radio interviews, bloggers meet ups, media junkets, mall visitors, cinema visits, fashion show walks, magazine shoots, college visits; the list goes on. It’s a universal trend now. Audience interaction and participation plays a huge role in film promotions. Hollywood and Bollywood mega stars are having to do it too now. With the birth of social media, a film gets left behind if the actors don’t go and present their film and energy to the public. So for four weeks straight, life is committed to promoting the film across Pakistan. From next week, closer to the release date, we will be travelling all over Pakistan — Multan, Sialkot, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, etc. Then Dubai and the US and UK for the international premieres.”
Images: What are your expectations from the film? How was the experience?
Sanam stated that; “I always enjoy working with [director] Mehreen [Jabbar]; this is my fourth project with her”.
“The entire cast had met each other before or worked together. Hareem and I were in Diyar-e-Dil, Tooba and I had worked as models for about a decade and Adeel and I did Mehreen’s other projects together. Shaz Khan and I, it turned out, went to school together in third grade. And Ali is someone it doesn’t take long to make friends with! We were all in New York together and it was a lot of fun. The girls were living together, working together, unwinding together. We all bonded really well and got along like a house on fire.” she added.
Images: Can you tell us a little bit about your role?
“My character is called Samer. She is like the life of the party; lighthearted, friendly and free spirited. Ali and my character are engaged in the story, They are a laid back fun couple who are friends with Adeel and Hareem’s characters respectively”. replied Sanam.

Teri Chah Mein Episode 17 Review – The End Is Near!
Well, well, well. This is interesting. The latest developments in the story? Well, no not exactly. I am referring to the fact that this was the second last episode which came as a shock to me for only today I was wracking my brain to see if I could recall whether Samina Ejaz’s dramas are dragged out and two names that popped up were Tum Meri Ho and Beqasoor – so I shook my head. A Big Bang production, writer Samina Ejaz, channel ARY Digital – and not touching the 20 episode mark? Yeah, when pigs fly – ah, maybe the time has come then!
Even though the chain of events in this episode seemed fairly predictable, there is still an element of unpredictability and uncertainty over how this drama will end. Upon learning that her mother is seriously ill, the rage that had consumed Zara and fed her desire for revenge seemed to fizzle out instantly and all she could think and wish for was her mother’s health and well being. We also learn that she was marrying Faizan only to spite her mother and she meets him and wipes out any such notions from his mind too. I was glad that the whole typical scenario of hiding the illness from the patient was cut short when Mehwish overhears Zara’s conversation with Tahir and his mother and steps in. It was also good to see Mehwish give in to Zara’s insistence and agree upon treatment.
Chacha and Chachi have taken it upon themselves to see Mehwish back to health again but they state they are doing this only for Zara’s sake. While Mehwish is seen to be reflecting upon the decisions she has made, she has not pined for or asked for Faisal and it would have been odd that Faisal is not shown to think of her for even a moment except that well, Faisal is Faisal. And that should explain it all. Mehwish seems content to have her daughter’s attention and the sound of laughter around her. I liked seeing Mehwish and Zara grow close again.
I felt a bit uneasy over the pressure being exerted on Zara to accept the proposal put forth by Tahir’s parents. I see how loving his parents are and how much they and Tahir care about Zara but that is something that should or could be highlighted to Zara in a positive way rather than make that the reason to accept the proposal so as to not hurt their feelings. Faizan accepted Zara’s confession gracefully but he is still present on the scene so I wonder if Zara may just end up with him.
Amber and Faisal were their usual nauseating self in their happy little bubble. I don’t want to be overly critical but Mehwish’s illness has been diagnosed, second opinions sought, treatment begun and ended and Faisal’s baby is nowhere in sight. How much time has passed? Anyway, I am curious to see how Faisal will react when he hears of Mehwish’s illness. We are given the impression that she is almost cured though now. Is she or will she die and when does Faisal reappear in her life, if at all? I will seriously be sick if there is some super rushed ending where Mehwish forgives Faisal and they all happily celebrate the birth of his baby or something to that effect!
I never thought I would say this, except I think I may have said it in an earlier review but oh well – Saboor Ali was not only bearable but has acted well enough that I could actually relate to her character today where she seems to have thrown everything into the background and become a child who is besides herself with fear over very possibly losing her mother forever. I am unsure how this drama will end but I am definitely looking forward to the last episode and so glad that this has not been stretched unnecessarily. What did you all think of this episode? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Mahira VS Twitter
All the Mahira Khan fans out there, check out the latest video of Mahira Khan by MangoBaaz reading out amd reacting to meanest tweets.
Watch:
How can anyone call her 40! Even being 31 years old she doesn’t look a day older than 25. And no matter what an actor’s age is, the actor should know how to fit in the character, that’s what matters and that’s who we call a VERSATILE actor. Mahira has proved by playing quality roles, and performing excellently in all her drams and movies in the past 5 years that she is definitely a Versatile Actress.

Waada – Desperation At Its Peak!
Yes! I am talking about drama serial Waada which recently went on air on ARY Digital. This drama serial marks the debut of Shaista Lodhi in dramas and has been written by Samina Aijaz – the same writer who wrote the scripts for dramas like Doosri Biwi, Teri Chah Mein and Adhoori Aurat. In other words a writer who is known for making a mockery out of the institution of marriage and selling ideas which are neither entertaining nor wholesome. While some of these dramas can easily be excluded as guilty pleasures but there are some which are based on such sick concepts that you worry about the future of Pakistani dramas after watching them. Waada definitely falls into that category.
Waada has been directed by Syed Atif Hussain and directed by Big Bang Entertainment, a production house which is losing its credibility fast. After watching these two episodes of Waada I am enraged, shocked and find myself wondering how low can our production houses and writers stoop to sell their products!! After the sick trend of doosri biwi dramas in which two women leave their common sense, intelligence, self-respect and dignity far behind while competing for a man, this recent drama I am afraid is going to set another “trend” which will be way worse than this other trend because it is more controversial and unfortunately in our country controversy sells faster than quality content.
Waada is the story of Jana (Saboor Ali) and Rehmat more than Shahab (Faisal Qureshi) and Sumera (Shaista Lodhi). Jana is a maid who dreams of getting married to a rich man some day and not only this she has been shown openly flirting and harassing men in the houses she works in solely to grab the attention of the viewers. Not only is the concept of the drama sickening but the way it has been executed is even more so. We have very often seen such scenarios in telefilms, which is alright but making an entire serial which is based on a maid who wants to eventually win the man she works for is just plain sick. I am surprised that someone like Faisal Qureshi went along with this idea.
The last scene of the first episode clearly suggested that the team of Waada is relying on Desperate (with a capital D) measures to “attract” the viewers. Also, the physical contact between Jana and Shahab and the way the damaad compliments the maid was nauseating. Apart from that the background score whenever Jana’s character is on screen suggests that the director did not put in a lot of thought behind shooting these scenes. Jana is not a fun and chirpy character but the background scores she is that.
Unfortunately, this is not the first Pakistani drama which is going to test the patience of its viewers but this is definitely the first of its kind and I am afraid that this new “concept” might be copied by other producers who are just as desperate to grab the attention of viewers by using shortcuts. Also, Saboor Ali needs to put her talent to good use by refusing to play such roles. If the team of Waada was trying to “educate” people in any way at all, the drama and the promos of the drama would have been shot differently. There is nothing realistic about Saboor Ali’s look and there is absolutely no attraction in the entire concept.
I didn’t expect Shaista Lodhi to make her debut with an impressive play but I most certainly wasn’t expecting something like this. Also, I am sure no one is looking forward to watching Faisal Qureshi in this role; a man who is so masoom that he doesn’t get what it means when a maid like Jana (yes we are not blind, the look says it all) grabs his wrist! That and many other scenes pretty much summed up how this drama is going to challenge the intelligence of its viewers!
How many people out there think that a drama based on a tharki maid hitting on the men she works for is a good idea? I am sure no one! Please share your thoughts.
Shehrnaz Episode 3 Review – Unexpected Twists
The first two episodes of Shehrnaz gave the viewers reasons to believe that this drama would be free of clichés but this episode didn’t quite have that advantage. The turn that Shehrnaz and Sherry’s track took in particular was unexpected and slightly disappointing. This twist however has made the story a little complicated and unpredictable. While I am happy that our heroine is not holier-than-thou and she does not think that finding a rich man means that you don’t have to pursue your dreams but in my opinion it would have been far better if this particular track could have been carried forward differently. Shehrnaz lied to her father which in my opinion was the first dent in this beautiful relationship which these two people share. Most of the viewers found the relationship between Shehrnaz and her father endearing because this father trusted his daughter blindly and she was shown as someone who would never betray his trust. Shehrnaz did just that today and I am wondering what repercussions this development will have in the future. The only good aspect of this track was that Shehrnaz is not fascinated by Sherry’s wealth.
After the proposal the focus was on how everyone in the college was talking about their relationship and Shehrnaz and Sherry did not have any conversations after that which was odd! Sherry and Shehrnaz’s track isn’t working for me at all. The proposal scene was cheesy, unexpected and rushed. Farhan Malhi and Sherry’s character both are not the least bit appealing therefore I am pretty sure I am not the only one here who is wondering why a girl like Shehrnaz fell for a boy like him! In this episode Shehrnaz’s father and Shehrnaz both did something they had never done before but while Naseeb Gul did it because he did not want to let his daughter down, Shehrnaz did something that was contrary to what her father would have expected from her.
The fact that Aly Khan turned out to be the producer who is looking for a heroine for his film did not come as a surprise at all. The audition scene was long and once again made me wonder why wasn’t Shehrnaz willing to go along with everything since there was nothing wrong with what was being asked from her. The conversations Shehrnaz had with her friend once again gave an insight into her thinking.
Although Ayeza Khan and Sajid Hassan both once again gave brilliant performances but this episode wasn’t up to the mark mainly because of the latest developments. The preview of the next episode suggested that KK has fallen for Shehrnaz. I hope this does not turn out to be one of those dramas in which every other man falls for the heroine. I truly appreciate Ayeza Khan’s look in this play so far especially because of the foundation she has used. Nowadays many of our heroines are using foundations that make them look white and the directors too use extra lighting and filters to make them as fair as possible. Her look might change in the upcoming episodes but this look is different and it suits here.
How many of you watched this latest episode? Do share your thoughts about it.
