The ‘Zainab’ of Movie Bol, Humaima Malick is enjoying the best days of her life working in Bollywood and Pakistan consecutively. The actress is really busy these days with her newly signed projects out of which Bollywood movie Shaatir is next.
Been directed by Kunal Deshmukh who also directed Jannat and Jannat 2, movie Shaatir enjoys a rich cast where we will see Emraan Hashmi and Humaima Malick in lead roles. Emraan will be playing a role of Conman. Being a UTV Production, this upcoming thriller film is expected to release soon this year. As per the latest reveals made by the officials, the production is excited about the venture as they said:
We’re very excited with our next production which is now called Shaatir. This will be Emraan’s second film with us and we are looking forward to work with him on something he has not played before and he is also very excited about playing a character of a ‘Shaatir’ conman.
For Humaima Malick, this is significantly an important move of her career in Bollywood. Emran Hashmi who is known for his on-screen romance, however hasn’t made any comments about his new co-star. The movie is expected to release in Pakistan so far.
Let us see what new controversies Shaatir brings along,
There is no dearth of talented actors and actresses in our TV Industry. These raw actors and actresses enthrall us with their immense talent and nuanced performances. However, many of these actors have been typecast now and we see them doing the same kind of roles over and over again. It’s not that these actors do not have talent,it’s the directors and producers who limit them or maybe the audiences want to see them doing the same kind of thing over and over again and don’t accept them when they try something new and different. The following are a few such actors and actresses
Fawad Afzal Khan
Fawad Khan is a superstar and is a powerhouse of talent. No two views on that. However, he is limited to playing lover boy kind of roles.Infact, whenever a love story or a popular love story is filmed for screen, everyone starts demanding that Fawad be cast as the main lead. This was the reason for Mata-e-Jaan not getting so popular and not doing so well on the ratings chart.Similarly, the audiences are already disappointed with Farhat Ishtiaq’s upcoming ‘Bin Roye Ansoo’ as they wanted to see Fawad as the perfect lover boy with Mahira and not Humayun Saeed. Another one of Fawad’s serials ‘Numm’ to be aired on Geo again features a love story with a feudal background. So, we can say that audiences and makers consider Fawad fit for love stories only and do not give him other roles.Audiences do not accept him in other roles either as is evident from his grey shaded characters in Akbari Asghari and Kuch Pyar Ka Pagal Pan Bhee Tha.This supremely talented actor definitely deserves more and the audiences also need to accept him in roles other than the perfect lover boy.
Sanam Baloch
Sanam Baloch is a fiery performer and that she has proven time and again. Her serial ‘Dastaan’ is testimony to this where she played the role of Bano to perfection showcasing Bano’s transformation from a simple girl in love with Hassan to the one emotionally craving for Pakistan to a crusader who can’t see an impure Pakistan.Unfortunately,Sanam’s choice of projects in recent times such as Roshan Sitara,Nadamat,Zindagi Dhoop Tum Ghana Saya,Durr-e-Shehwar and now Kankar see her playing her the ‘bechari’ wronged woman type of characters. Most often, her husband and in-laws wrong her, make her life miserable and she either suffers in silence with the hope that things will get better with time and everyone accolades her bravery or she puts up some form of resistance.I am not sure if audiences want to see Sanam shedding buckets full of tears everytime she appears in a drama but I long for the Sanam of Doraha where she went to the extent of breaking up Humayun Saeed’s marriage with Sonia Rehman so that she could marry Humayun.
Hina Khawaja Bayat
Hina Khawaja Bayat is talented and beautiful. She rose to fame with Humsafar where she played Sara’s mom.Since then what she has majorly done on screen is utter Falak Jani,Zaroon Jani,Aun Jani.Except for Talkhiyan where she played a grey shaded aunt, she can be seen either the doting, suave or indifferent mother in all her other plays. She need to try out something different and makers should also harness her talent for something totally novel and new.
Shehryar Munawar
Shehryar Munawar is hero material from all angles. He’s good looking, has got good physique and good screen presence. He lights up the frames in which he appears. However, the same cannot be said of his acting skills. He needs to work on his expressions and smile less which is probably his habit. If he can work on his expressions a little more,he can become the perfect actor. He has everything else going for him.Maybe,he just needs time to perfect himself like many other actors before him have done.
Mawra Hocaine
What does the name bring to your mind.Yes,definitely the image of a poor woman who is subjected to torture, mental stress and harassment at the hands of husband/in-laws.She played this role to the hilt in Ik Tamanna Lahil Si and has done similar stuff in Mere Huzoor,Mein Gunahgar Naheen,Mere Harjai and many episodes of Kitni Girhain Baqee Hain. With the exception of Yahan Pyar Naheen Hai she’s never played a grey shaded character and most probably we won’t see her playing such a character again either.
These are some of the actors who have been typecast. You are free to name others. I would once again reiterate that more than the actors,it is the fault of the makers and audiences who don’t accept them in new avatars.
There was a time when 14th August came soaked in patriotism.New patriotic songs used to be the order of the day along with special 14th August plays and talk shows and documentaries on independence and its significance. But it was before the advent of private television channels in Pakistan. With the inception of private television programming in Pakistan, the independence day celebrations have somehow taken a backseat.
There are no more ‘special’ patriotic songs made for the day.Rather,we have mediocre songs sponsored by corporates such as Ufone,National Foods,Warid etc. No effort is made to create any special song anymore. Even Ptv has lost interest in this regard.
On top of it, the few special dramas that were telecast on the occasion were neither engaging nor were promoted widely for people to be informed of them. There was this one special drama which was sponsored by Walls once again.Since Turkish and Indian dramas have become invincible on our TV screens, this independence day saw Kuzey Guney and Ishq-e-Memnu on Urdu1 (a foreign channel operating in Pakistan only), Janay kiya bat huee and sub se sona ishq on Aplus and Mrs Pammi Pyarelal, Asi and Yeh Hai Meri Kahani on Express Entertainment. These shameless channels could not stop foreign programming even for a day yet they earn buckets full of revenue from Pakistan. Very sad indeed and a reason for all Pakistanis to stop watching these channels!
The remaining mainstream channels do such special and strong programming and promotion for alien occasions such as valentine’s day, mother’s day, women’s day that you are left wondering why did they leave out our independence day? Was it worth leaving out or do they not get enough sponsors for such occasions? Have we lost all interest in our country and its quest for independence which saw hundreds of thousands of people rendering bloody sacrifices?
Local cable channels were also busy showing Indian movies with Pakistani flag logo pasted on the top of the screens. But Punjabi entertainment channel Apna takes the cake here as it showed Salman Khan starrer Veer which was the story of a Rajhistahi Prince against Britishers. This channel and its management should have telecast this movie on 15th August as they intended to commemorate Indian’s independence day and not Pakistan’s.
Overall, very disappointing and low key programming by all channels on this symbolic occasion. It goes on to show our dying patriotism as channels only show programs which fetch them ratings. Apparently, such programming doesn’t boost ratings….
I loved, I loved, I loved just so many things in the whole episode. I wonder how do they come up with everything so nicely all the time. Even though the story is not moving forward lately but I like the fact that they are taking their sweet time by just focusing on the relationship of Aunn & Zara. They both are our eye-candies & for sure, I don’t get bored of the details. I like how their relationship is evolving & how Zara is working stealthily on her ulterior motive which she has set for her husband Aunn. Her character is a true inspiration I must say!
Well, I didn’t expect Jamshed to act so rudely especially with Nighat, then I didn’t either expect him realizing & rectifying his mistake so quickly & the I least I could expect was Jamshed actually taking Nighat for her shopping spree. Nighat mentioned a tiff with her Bhabhi in front of Jamshed & then went out for a retail therapy, that too with Jamshed Sahab. It was a sight. I love how their paths are crossing again & again even though when she thinks he’s a ‘kharus’ & Jamshed himself feels that the ‘mohtarma’ is a sorry excuse of a human being. lol. For me, the best thing was Jamshed acting all ruthlessly & then even though he was rigid & believed firmly at what he said, he was sorry on his part. Their timely encounters for sure are going to drive them towards each other & I just can’t wait for that. Having said that, I find Adnan Jaffer perrrrfeccctttt for this role. He has justified the character of Jamshed by all means & I absolutely respect his acting skills & on the other hand I love Sabreen Hisbani’s voice. She sounds just as sweet as she looks.
Aunn wanted to spend some time off the routine & Voila! His prayers were answered but with a little catch & some awesome strings attached. He wanted to spend some quality time with Zara, which he thought he got to but Zara was too busy figuring out the relation of ‘ta’u’ & ‘mausi’. I felt that Zara has gradually started to understand Aunn as well. She wants the best for him therefore, she is getting a little flexible for him, because she knows this will make Aunn the person she wants him to be. Even though the couple was flocked with the relatives who were in an awe of the ‘sohni wotti’ yet they both managed to steal some time & have a heart to heart with each other. Aunn has started to get more vocal about his feelings for Zara & Zara has started to give a listen to what he wants to say every time.
For Zara, Aunn should be the one taking care of all the members of the family, not in terms of finance but in terms of emotions. He should be strong enough to extend some emotional security to his mother. He should understand what someone around him is feeling & fortunately Zara has started working on it. I find it really sweet how Zara keeps on reminding him about what he should have done or said to his elders. For now, Aunn might not understand what Zara wants because he’s too blinded by the idea of getting pampered by his wife but eventually will get the picture clearly.
The ‘bakras’ getting more privacy than Aunn & Zara was spot-on. No doubt they have highlighted this issue so nicely where generally in our households in Pakistan, husband & wife do get everything, in literal sense everything BUT the privacy. What makes it more cute is that in the foreground Zara’s enjoying everyone’s attention & at the background Aunn’s sulking alone feeling attention deprived. He at first wanted Zara to divert everyone’s attention from him & now when she has done it, he wants more from her. Like he said ‘dunya dene aur lene k asool pe chalti hai’. So finally they have come to terms with the give & take. Their deal was another thing worth a praise. Zara has started making Aunn understand his responsibilities & Aunn has started to do what Zara wants because in return he wants her attention & love. Which is acceptable & perfect.
Glad they didn’t miss out Daadi this time too. The conversation between her & Husna about Nighat was hilarious where Daadi stated she wanted to see some human face. LOL! Husna, who may have carried a facade all these years, deep down, does get hurt by the lack of attention of Aunn’s father. It was really gutting to see Husna sad. Hope Aunn & Zara can fade out all of her worries & make her smile from deep inside again.
All the conversations were amazing this time. I loved Aunn & Zara’s especially. No matter how long their scenes were or even on the same lines but I loved watching them again & again. That goes without saying but like always amazing episode of an amazing drama.
Lately been discussed on social media and on reviewit.pk, designer Feeha Jamshed is no more a single now. We did share her Mehndi pictures where we saw her good friends like Mahira Khan and Ayesha Omer showing their love and support to their friend and again it was her wedding ceremony where her showbiz friends made their way to contribute their wishes in her about-to-start new life.
It was Mahira and Ayesha Omar again who attended the ceremony but what is more exciting here is the presence of Sanam Saeed and and other fellow designers who were been seen in the ceremony. Here are the pictures,
The first few years of marriage can be the most memorable for some but for many people these few years are the most crucial ones. It is in these early years that the two people who are tied into this union are getting to know each other and this is the time when even small disagreements are likely to be blown out of proportion. What happened in today’s episode of Kankar was extremely unexpected. Sikandar proved to be an over-possessive husband who may claim to love his wife but proved by his actions that he does not respect her at all. Weak men always resort to physical and verbal abuse when they can find no other way to assert their authority. Even though Kiran apologized to Sikandar but she felt like she had the right to go and stay at her parents place for a few days. Therefore, the matter was not resolved but aggravated further when Kiran’s mother requested Sikandar to let her stay at their house. Sikandar’s double standards definitely reminded me of Zaroon.
I must admit that for most part of the episode I felt like Sikandar’s demand was very rational; he even came across as very sweet and loving when he came to pick Kiran from college. But at the same time he also seemed to be a man with a very big ego; the way he “forgave” Kiran right away after she apologized could either be because he is very “generous” by nature or because he has a big ego that needed to be satisfied before he could move on. The way he beat Kiran up over a minor issue went to prove that Sikandar is a control freak. We already saw in the previous few episodes the manner in which Sikandar pressurized his mother when he wanted to marry Kiran. He is obviously not used to things going against his wishes and if they do he has his own ways of dealing with the situation.
Kiran’s bewilderment was very apparent by her actions and her silence. Sikandar’s rigid behavior came as a complete shock to her. She was still in the process of coming into terms with this new aspect of Sikandar’s personality when he went as far as hitting her; something that is simply unforgivable. In today’s episode we saw Kiran getting closer to her Mother-in-Law and further away from her husband!
Rukhsar’s track has been putting me to sleep right from day one. I have absolutely no idea what is the purpose of this highly monotonous and boring track. I agree that there are many girls out there who must be in a similar situation, but when you wait for a week to watch the new episode of a play you expect something entertaining even if it has a serious theme. Rukhsar’s story hasn’t moved an inch right from the first episode. There is one scene in the school, where we see her complaining with one of her colleagues in every episode. There are few scenes in the house where we see her either envying someone or cursing her own fate. And now for the past few episodes there is one scene in every episode in which she has a phone conversation with her fiancé .
I feel the exact same way about Arzoo’s track as well. I guess we all get the message loud and clear by now that Arzoo won’t be moving on with her life anytime soon, so is her story going to go any further than that or not? I really feel that Kankar could have been a much more entertaining serial if the sidetracks were a little more interesting or a little less time was given to covering what was happening in Arzoo and Rukhsar’s life. Also, the performance by the senior actor Shakeel in particular is a little too placid even for the character that he is playing.
Today’s episode was very slow paced, so much so that even the shocking development in the end did not make up for it. The fact that there are innumerable commercials during the drama does not help either! That cannot be helped of course but the developments in each episode should be so intriguing that you should find yourself impatiently looking forward to what will happen next even in the commercial breaks but unfortunately that was most certainly not the case today.

Mehwish Hayat is one of those talented Pakistani artists who have emerged lately and have amused the world through their great work in the field of acting. Starting her career with Geo TV with some powerful serials like Masi aur Malka, Thori si wafa chahie, Mehwish made her fans believe that she is a versatile actress who can fit in any role been given to her. Apart from her acting skills, Mehwish Hayat is a known as a model and has been seen doing some major shoots for brands.
Here is here another glamorous photo shoot which was recently held in Karachi in Port Grand. Have a look!
After the launch of the very successful Tarang Telefilms which created waves amongst the audiences, a new trend has now emerged. Producers are focusing more on making movies now that they know that audiences are willing to watch quality movies. Humayun Saeed’s production house made the initiative of making the very first grand budget movie ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’, which will be released very soon. It has also been heard that Sultana Siddiqui is now ready to get her hands into filmmaking and has been searching for a female lead for her movie. The male lead which was previously rumored to be Fawad Khan, has now been finalized and it is none other than Humayun Saeed.
Now following this trend, the dramas are also going to the movie way. It has been in the news that there are two shows which will first be released as movies and then their drama would also be launched.
MANTO:
The first in the list is Sarmat Khoosat’s tentatively titled show ‘Manto’, which has been in the news for quite some time now. Many plays have been written about Saadat Hassan Manto a very famous writer of his time, but this will be the first movie made on him.
His character would be played by Sarmad himself, who is not only a very talented director but a superb actor too. He has recently been seen in the show ‘Dil Mohallay Ki Haveli’ in which he is playing a role of a mentally challenged man and he is doing a fantastic job in it. Other than Sarmat, the cast is fully loaded with names like Saba Qamar, Mahira Khan, Tipu Sharif, Faisal Qureshi, Imran Abbas, Sania Saeed, Nimra Bucha, and Savera Nadeem. With this stellar cast, the movie is surely going to be a huge success. The story is written by the playwright Shahid Nadeem. The movie would not be the typical mainstream types and it would not be an Independent movie either because of its large scale production.
The story will focus on Saadat Manto’s life after partition and the events that followed. Sarmad has revealed that “This is not going to be an overtly political film, but it will involve a commentary of some of the things occurring at the time,” he continues, “When I came across the project, I felt he needed to have a film.”
The movie does not only have a stellar cast but also an engaging soundtrack which will enthrall the audiences. The movie has already been shot and is in the post-production phase. The movie will release by the end of this year or the start of the next year. The drama will also be made on the same concept and hopefully with the same cast after the movie has been released.
BIN ROYE AANSOO:
The second show that would first be released as a movie and then dramatized is the very hyped and popular show, ‘Bin Roye Aansoo’. It has gained immense popularity and publicity in its pre-production stage. From the moment the cast has been announced on the writer Farhat Ishtiaq’s official page on Facebook, it has captured the interest of all the viewers.
There had been a lot of criticism on the cast in the beginning as a lot of fans wanted to see Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan as the leads in the show, and it angered the fans to see Humayun Saeed selected as the male lead. The anger slowly dissolved when the shooting started and a few shooting pictures were released. Now audiences are desperately looking forward to this show which will also include names like Armeena Rana Khan, Zeba Bakhtiyar, Javed Sheikh, Jahanzeb Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Osman Khalid Butt. The cast also includes a few child stars like Mehreen, Mujtaba Khan, Yashal Nadeem and Shahzayn Duraid (son of Momina Duraid). They would play the role of the leads in the initial phase of the drama/movie. The drama and the movie will be directed by the very famous director Haissam Hussain who has given us shows like Dastaan and Aunn Zara. It will be produced by Momina Duraid’s Production House.
The shooting of the movie is at full speed at the moment and the movie will release around February/March 2014. Mahira Khan fans are waiting to see her back on screen after more than a year. I am sure this movie is definitely work looking forward to!
The reason that I had been waiting for this play was because of its cast. This is Syra Yousuf’s first play after her marriage and we all know that Adnan Siddiqui and Sania Saeed are phenomenal actors. Another thing that attracted me towards this play was that the sisters really love each other and not rival each other like all the other sisters in Pakistani dramas these days. This came as a breath of fresh air for me! In today’s episode we got introduced to Aliya(Syra Yousuf), Farishtay(Javeria Abbasi) and Raheel(Adnan Siddiqui). Unfortunately we didn’t get to see Nida(Sania Saeed) but the episode was still good.
The episode starts with Aliya going to the graveyard to visit her late sister, Faishtay’s tomb. Aliya is really lonely and she really misses Farishtay. She lives alone in the house where she has spent her childhood with Farishtay. Later on, Aliya goes into a flashback and we find out that Aliya and Farishtay are half sisters. Their father and Aliya’s mother are no more in this world. Aliya doesn’t know that Farishtay and her are half sisters. Farishtay has always treated Aliya like her real sister. Farishtay is a beautician. Her mother wants her to get married but she wouldn’t until Aliya becomes independent. Her mother thinks Aliya is jinxed and blames Aliya for her parents’ death and Farishtay’s refusal for marriage. It’s so sad how people call each other jinxed. Farishtay and her mom are unaware that Aliya is listening to their conversation. Aliya tries to commit suicide by eating sleeping pills but Farishtay sees her and stops her. The mother becomes embarrassed and tells Aliya how much she loves her. This scene was heartbreaking! Aliya makes Farishtay promise that she would get married and Aliya too promises that she wouldn’t do anything like that again.
The dialogue that stood out to me the most from this episode was:
“Kabhi Kabhi koi pal insaan ki poori Zindagi badal deta hai, Khala. Aur woh raat bhi kuch aisi hi thi.”
The dialogue is beautifully said by Syra Yousuf and it just makes me wonder about what would have happened that night. She says this dialogue when she goes into a flashback of Farishtay going to her friend’s engagement. That was the night she met Raheel. Raheel falls in love with Farishtay at the first sight. Farishtay’s freind gives her her gold earrings to wear for the night and Farishtay loses one of the earrings by mistake. She starts crying and Raheel sees her. Raheel finds the earring and tells her, “In ankhon mein ansoon ache nahi lagte.” This scene was absolutely lovely. Raheel and Farishtay look really cute. Raheel then drops Farishtay home because it was really late.
Raheel’s mother is trying to convince him to get married to Nida but he doesn’t want to marry her. The episode ends with Raheel telling his friend that he wants to marry Farishtay not Nida. It seems like Farishtay too likes Raheel because she was thinking about him when she was in her saloon.
Overall, it was a good start. Syra Yousuf just keeps on getting better! Adnan Siddiqui and Javeria Abbasi did justice to their roles. The direction was really good too! I can’t wait to see what happens next! Will Raheel tell Farishtay about his feelings? How will Farishtay react? Will Raheel’s mom force him to marry Nida? Stay tuned to see what happens! Can’t wait for the next episode.
Interesting is the fact that we can now see a series of great dramas going on air at the same time slots where we find ourselves confused basically when it comes to following Hum TV, ARY Digital or Geo TV in prime-time these days. Now that Fawad Khan’s new drama will be making its way to screen from August 24th, that is Thursday on Geo TV, Hum TV is again ready to give its rival a tough competition with its homework been done. ‘Aseer Zadi’ is the next drama serial that will replace ‘Dil-e-Muzter’ on Hum TV on saturdays from August 17th. The promos are already on air where we see some powerful celebrities doing something very different on screen.
The drama is written by Mustafa Afridi and is directed by Ehtisham Uddin. The drama comes under the home production of the channel where the production is been handled by Momina Duraid herself. The cast of the drama includes Sania Saeed, Farah Shah, Sakina Sammo, Salman Shahid, Noor Hasan, Ainy Jaffri, Eshita Mehboob, Sania Shamshad and Yasir Shoro in major roles. Noor Hasan, the Khizer of Humsafar is now again back with an important role and this is a great news for his fans but again, Fawad’s charisma which has already attracted a significant audience for his upcoming drama serial Numm,is likely to take over the game against him. Saniya Saeed is a wonderful actress and people really want to see her but they would rather prefer to watch her in Numm inspite of watching here on Hum TV in not-so-high budget drama serial.
Here are the promos of drama serial Aseer Zadi, Have a look!
All for now, would love to hear from you about the fact that which drama will you be following on Saturdays from now onwards!
I feel the episodes this week were more emotionally intense and there were less light hearted scenes than usual. I enjoyed Soni’s shayari but I missed Tasneem Chacha’s jokes. I always look forward to all his scenes. Waseem Abbas is one of the most versatile actors of the industry and has done a fantastic job in this show.
I really was not expecting Alishba to be so dense and thickheaded. I was pretty shocked when she came in front of Sikander’s family in her casual home clothes. Her impression in front of Badi Ammi went completely down the drain and Sikander had to come up with a plan to help Alishba impress Badi Ammi. Alishba was reluctant to execute the plan at first but Sikander and Salma convinced her and she came in front of Badi Ammi with a typical eastern avatar. The scene where she was trying to be the typical shy girl was hilarious. I like the old gutsy Alishba way better than this fake one.
I find Zahid and Salma scenes pretty entertaining. The way they fight and then make up is very endearing to watch. Zahid is one of my favorite characters in the show but I wish I could say the same about Amber’s character. Amber’s over acting and weak dialogue delivery makes me cringe every time and those three layers of foundation on her face is like a cherry on top! I really recommend her to stop acting as it is not her cup of tea at all!
Sikander made a very big promise to Zahid in a very emotional moment and he regrets it now. He got a good beating from Alishba because of the promise too. He promised Zahid that there would be no wedding until both the sides agree wholeheartedly but the real problem is; how will this ever happen? Badi Ammi wants to keep no relation with Alishba’s Dadi Jaan and vice versa. Dadi Jaan came to Alishba’s Haan function but she seemed angry and upset the whole time and as soon as the families started talking about marriage, she immediately left with her daughter. It really makes Zahid sad to see that his mother is not happy with the marriage and he really wants her to be a part of this wedding and agree to it wholeheartedly.
Sikander and Alishba are even more upset now because previously, it was their families fighting amongst each other but now there are problems within each of their families. Alishba’s Dadi Jaan and Durre phupho are still upset with her family and on Sikander’s side; Chammi Tai has created a new scene. She is upset that Badi Ammi is not ready to invest in their shop in Karachi and finally speaks against Badi Ammi. Tanveer Taya has been after Badi Ammi for quite some time now to invest in the new business but all his efforts have been unsuccessful so far and after the huge drama created by Chammi Tai, the chances of Badi Ammi agreeing are even less now.
If Alishba’s existing problems were not enough, there is another added to the long list. Durre phupho had been in an accident (Thanks to Ahmed Nafees of course!) and now she has come to stay at Alishba’s house for a few days. She is surely going to create a lot of problems now! And on top of that, Ahmed Nafees will be staying at Alishba’s house which will be another headache for Alishba. Well, after seeing Ahmed Nafees and Soni’s instant connection I have a feeling that he would be out of Alishba’s way very soon. Salman Saeed’s is giving a good performance so far and is doing justice to his goofy and empty headed character of Ahmed Nafees.
Hamza was so happy when Haaniyah told him that she is breaking up with Saif but now she has changed her mind and wants to give Saif another chance. I felt a bit bad for Hamza, he really seems to like Haaniyah and as I have said multiple times before; I simply love their chemistry.
It seems like Sikander and Alishba’s problems are increasing with every passing day. Will their problems ever end or is this just the beginning?

Today’s episode of Kadurat was not as fast paced as the previous ones but then it would be unfair to expect every episode to be very happening. The stage has been set for what Mina and Shaheen will have in store for their family in the upcoming episodes. Mina’s attitude towards her family went from bad to worse mainly due to Shaheen’s arrival. Asad’s cold reaction towards Mina further aggravated the situation. Even though, Mina’s psychiatrist clearly told her father that she needed assurance of his love for her, we didn’t see Mahmood spending any time with Mina. Atiqa went out of her way yet again to mend ties with her step daughter but the response she got was nothing new. I would have liked to see more interactions between Mina and her father. It seems like Mahmood is still in denial just like he was many years back. How could he possibly think that Atiqa’s addition to the family was positive in every way possible when it affected his own daughter in such a negative manner?
Mina and Shaheen both appeared to be grown up children today because everything they did was highly immature. Mina’s plans to win Daniyal over and Shaheen’s “office strategy” sounded very childish. Probably the reason behind Atiqa turning a blind eye to everything that is happening is exactly that. I have to admit though that two such negative minded girls can play havoc with anyone’s life because there isn’t much that anyone can do to restrain Mina in particular.
Alina’s character is very sweet and Momal Sheikh has done complete justice to her role. I could completely relate to the helplessness she felt and the way she must feel when she is away from the house and Mina! But at the same time she takes a stand for herself whenever she can so she is definitely not too sweet to be true. Asad would want to do something about the situation but his hands are tied because his mother won’t allow him to talk to Mina’s father. Imran Aslam is a very gifted actor; he is always in superlative form. I must add here that Mahmood sahib has created a monster due to all the wrong decisions he took but he holds no responsibility for it whatsoever.
Mina’s visits to the psychiatrist have been very nicely covered. They give us an insight into Mina’s personality and also go to show that it is just as important for the patient’s family to keep an active communication with the psychiatrist. Mahmood may have referred Mina to the psychiatrist but we never see him asking him for a feedback unless he calls himself
The preview for the next episode suggested that Mina is going to come up with another outrageous plan to get rid of her step family. I am actually looking forward to how things go from here because until now I have been missing Mahmood’s involvement in the whole scenario. Things are going to get much more complicated when Mina and Shaheen execute their plan.
The performances by all the actors have been outstanding throughout the play and the direction once again was flawless. I hope that the writer manages to keep the interest of the viewers intact till the end.

Mahira will soon be seen in Bin Roye Ansu and Main Minto in upcoming days,
This is the day when the muslims of the sub-continent finally got their homeland Pakistan where they could live a peaceful life, practising their religion freely, 66 years ago. August 14th is a day that holds a significant importance in the life of every Pakistani who is living anywhere in the world. Thanks to our entertainment industry, we now see some better celebrations of the day where every channel plan something special, totally dedicated to the day of independence that reboots the feeling of patriotism in every Pakistani.
Showing their dedication and love towards the country, even our celebrities celebrated Independence day to fullest. Here are a few clicks I could gather.
Have a look!
Atif Aslam, whom we have have always find as a dedicated citizen of Pakistan, despite of doing loads of work for the neighboring country India, has again showed up by posting a video related to independence day to show his gratitude for Pakistan. Have a look!
A dying man doesn’t need your flowers but life-saving drug, care and concern. Similarly your country does not need your dance, fireworks and rallies but your devotion, caress and accountability. If you followed the news yesterday, you must be knowing that 40 citizens are badly injured in two back2back blasts, while 4 have died in the blasts over Agakhani Jamaat Khana, Karimabad. We really need to reframe our priorities so that we can come up with a better plan that would definitely make lives easier of Pakistanis.
We, the entire team of reviewit.pk wish you all the readers a very happy Independence Day. Love your country and own it. It needs you all.
Almost everyone has seen by now the vulgar song with obscene scenes in the upcoming movie “Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi”. There was a lot of debate even in this forum about how appropriate or inappropriate it was and many thought that it was a stunt to get some much needed publicity for the venture.
The latest reports are that Shahid Afridi has demanded that the producers should cut all the obscene scenes from the film before it is released. We all know that Shahid Afridi is very conservative by nature. Since this movie is related to him directly so he can’t possibly allow such scenes to be a part of it.
Shahid Afridi said, “”I had given permission for the film with an aim to give kids some positive healthy entertainment, to divert their minds towards cricket and it should not have obscene things.”
He also added, “I want to tell the people that the film is not related to my life…A lot of kids and families would go to watch the movie because of me and if they see things like that they will feel bad, so I hope they remove those scenes and run the film.”
Shahid Afridi’s statements clearly go to show that this film is NOT going to be about the life of Shahid Afridi but the story actually is that the film is about a boy who idealizes the icon and wants to be like him.
Shahid Afridi further added that he was not part of the movie also, he was asked to make a guest appearance but he refused, “”I had declined the offer to act because my elders are against acting, nor did I charge a single penny from them,” he said. Shahid Afridi had to make this statement because the promo of the movie suggested that he was part of the film.
The film has already been delayed due to technical problems and now it seems like there are more problems ahead.
Are you happy with the step that Shahid Afridi has taken? Do you think the producers will pay heed to his demands?
I couldn’t help noticing especially in the past few years that there are many television artists who pay special attention to their wardrobe. Not all the actors who are talented are well-dressed as well. I am not denying that talent comes first and the dressing sense later but it is also true that a good sense of dressing along with great talent can be a deadly combination. You will all agree with me that there is no doubt about how gifted the artists in the list are. We talk about their talent all the time, I thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge their good taste as well.
Who you think is well-dressed depends a great deal on your own likes and dislikes. For me looking elegant as well as stylish is what counts the most. It is also very important in my eyes if a person can look stylish and chic without showing too much skin. All the artists in the list are always seen dressed elegantly in award shows and other functions. They also put in extra amount of time and effort to dress up well for dramas they star in too.
Momal Sheikh
Momal Sheikh has always impressed me with her fashionable wardrobe. Whether she is dressed up formal or casual, this woman never fails to make a fashion statement that will make you stand up and take notice. White looks very pretty on her, she never goes overboard even when dressed formal.
Hina Khawaja Bayat
Hina Khawaja Bayat has paid special attention to her wardrobe from the very first time we saw her on screen when she used to do only talk shows. There are actresses who have learned to dress up in style only after they entered the industry but Hina Khawaja had her own style statement when she entered the industry. Hina Khawaja plays a lot of attention to detail. Her matching lenses in Aunn Zara and her elegant sarees in Talkhiyaan and Zindai Gulzar Hai show what a great taste she has, that is all of her own! She looks just as stunning in casual kurtas, like the ones she wore in Shehr-e-Zaat.
Sanam Jang
One thing is for sure that being stylish isn’t just about what you wear but it also has to do with how you carry what you are wearing. Sanam Jang is usually seen wearing clothes that are rather simple but she knows very well what kind of cuts suit her. She looks wonderful even in a long kurti and tights because she knows how to carry it. Her formal look very often is a long frock with pajama. Sanam Jang is another very wise television actress who knows what will look good on her.
Sarwat Gillani
Sarwat Gillani did not pay much attention to her looks when she entered the industry. Her style was always very casual. But things have changed tremendously now. Sarwat Gillani is always dressed to kill. She has groomed herself very well. I especially like Sarwat Gillani in embroided chiffon shirts; she wears them on usually on function.
Seemi Pasha
Seemi Pasha has been around for as long as I can remember. She always dresses up in trendy clothes that suite her perfectly. Apart from her chic dressing, her accessories are always well chosen. She is another artist who pays attention to every little detail that goes in to giving the perfect look.
Adnan Siddiqui
Adnan Siddiqui has a certain class about him that very few other male actors have. He always looks dignified. He looks very smart in dress shirts in particular. There are many male actors in our industry who repeat their clothes in the serials so many times that you can literally count the number of shirts they bring on the set! Adnan Siddiqui experiments with different colors and styles and looks great in them.
Nauman Ijaz
I have never seen Nauman Ijaz wearing anything that does not suit him. Even if he is playing a character which demands that he dresses up in Kurta Shalwar only, he will choose the right kind of styles that suit him. Unlike many of our male actors who can’t even match a pair of trousers with a shirt; this man knows how to choose the right kind of wardrobe.
Javaid Sheikh
He is decent, well dressed and carries himself perfectly. Not to mention that he has aged very gracefully. Some celebrities never go out of style, Javaid Sheikh is most certainly one of those evergreen celebrities of our industry.
Now that I think about it, I think there should be a separate list for actors who are good looking, act very well and also carry themselves well but don’t dress up right. Do you agree that all the artists mentioned in the list are well dressed? Would you like to add any other names?
The story began with a make-believe happiness in terms of two cousins getting married but as the scenarios progressed, so many negative strings attached to the whole wedding were revealed. During the course of the drama, I felt I could see some similarity of the situations with those of ‘Meri Zaat Zarra – e – Benishaan’s‘. It was a girl back then who suffered the embarrassment & got abandoned but this time, it’s a guy who is facing the consequences & has become an outcast within his own family.
Seems like Shakeel has his sympathies with Narmeen, who happens to be his sister’s daughter as well. Even though much wasn’t revealed but it was quite figurable that Arham & Narmeen have been in some sort of an uneasy situation in the past, which has resulted in Arham’s introversion & isolation. Arham claims that what his family saw was a mere illusion & nothing else where as Shakeel – his father believes in the opposite.
Narmeen, at first seemed to be like a real nice person who was being understanding towards her husband & how he felt. By their conversation, it seemed that Shahid was unwilling to get married but agreed because of some pressures he might have gone through. Shahid has just extended some social & marital security that Narmeen wished for. Narmeen may be over the moon by getting married to Shahid but sadly the feelings aren’t mutual. Even though Saman asked Narmeen to act like an elder & let go of the past but seems like she is doing the opposite. It did come as a shock when Narmeen out of the blue started adding fuel to the fire & maligned Shakeel’s feelings more towards Arham, knowing that he has not come to terms with what happened before. Shahid actually tried to stop her but seems like she has a strong symapthy card which she wants to play every single time. Being a bahu, she should act appropriately by just keeping in mind how nice the whole family is & how considerate they are towards her but seems like she is there to divide everyone.
Areeba, who’s a daughter of Shakeel’s friend has come to stay with them but apparently she is going to bring Arham out of his misery. Out of all the people, she will understand him & make him realise that just wasting his life crying over spilt milk won’t do any good to him or his family. Arham’s mother & sister are seen supportive & at some point they do not believe at what has happened but are too skeptical in speaking against the reality that everybody else believes in. Areeba’s coming over to stay at their place reminded me of the Hindi Movie ‘Meinne Pyaar Kiya’ where the female protagonist comes over to stay at Salman Khan’s place & then falls in love. It was just a similarity that surfaced in my mind but I am sure Arham-Areeba’s story has more to it.
All the characters for now appear to be quiet real & the direction seemed to the point. I am kind of excited to see Ayesha Khan in a partially negative role, at least it’s like breaking a monotony of always being a victim. In the whole episode there weren’t any scenes which seemed dragged but rather they succeeded in building the curiosity about the certain circumstances which will unveil eventually. The drama has kicked-off really well & I hope there stays the exact reality which they have managed to portray at the beginning of the drama.
When Pakistan was created, Quaid-e-Azam set out some guidelines for the Pakistanis to follow, these guidelines or main principles were unity, faith and discipline. Unity meant That we will all stay united through the toughest times especially because Pakistan’s creation could not have been possible without this union of the Indian Muslims and also because Quaid-e-Azam knew that like any other nation-state Pakistanis were going to face many hardships also. These difficulties no matter of what magnitude would be much easier to resolve if we all stayed united. Unfortunately, this first teaching of the Quaid has been left behind. Today, most Pakistanis identify themselves on the basis of the territory that they reside in. Provincial identities are more important than a national identity. But are people really at fault? Most certainly not. The wrong policies of many governments as well as preferential treatment given to some provinces by the governments in power left people with a feeling of deprivation. Other than that the provincial leaders highlight these issues further and as a result people start associating with provincial leaders more than national leaders.
Dearth of good leadership has also added to the problem. Pakistan has not been able to find its own national identity not because of different cultures or languages but due to the lack of good leadership. All these people who are disintegrated now were once united for the cause of Pakistan only because they had great leaders to guide them.
The other aspect of the principle of faith is to have faith in our own capabilities. Which would mean that we should rely on our own strengths.
Faith is the other pillar on which the Quaid-e-Azam thought we may have to rely on in order to move forward. Faith means our religion Islam which makes us one, which should technically be the common ground that brings all of us together. Pakistan was made in the name of Islam, so that the Muslims of India could freely visit their worship places and profess their religion but thousands are killed even today in the name of religion.
Discipline can change the fate of nations if gets engraved in their national culture. We blame the governmental policies for everything but if we take a good look at ourselves, we will see that unfortunately most of the people lack the honesty needed to do their own respective jobs. Coming to schools and workplaces late is a norm in our country, so much so that even those people who are in a habit of coming early feel like they are doing something that is not needed or appreciated. Adding discipline to our lives can change the environment in our workplaces and also the quality of work.
Sadly, we have left the guidelines given to us by the Quaid-e-Azam and other leaders like Allama Iqbal behind. We have forgotten that thousands of people sacrificed their lives in order to get this home land. What can we do to make a difference? I think w e can all make a difference by doing the tasks assigned to us properly. if every Pakistani whether he is a sweeper or a director starts doing his work with honesty. If we stop giving jobs on the basis of sifarish and rishwat but let the people who truly deserve these posts come on the forefront, a great deal can change.
Last but not the least, the government’s top priority should be to come up with a proper guideline to counter terrorism because gradually it is taking over the lives of more and more citizens. The situation is such that people are forced to migrate from their home towns. Thousands of lives are lost every month but no one is punished for taking those lives.
What do you think we can do to make a difference? What do you think is the need of the hour?
Happy Independence Day to all the Pakistanis – do you think is it time to celebrate or is it time to reflect upon where we went wrong in all these years?
Pakistan Zindabad, May Allah grant patience to all those who have lost their loved ones because of terrorism. May He direct our leaders and people on the right path.
Khuda kary ky mere Arz e Pak par utry

What caught my attention towards this show in the first place were the unique promos and the different storyline. I was personally sick of reviewing shows revolving around second marriages, gender discrimination, extra-marital affairs and many other concepts like those which we see in every other show nowadays.
This show did prove to be different from the rest and was indeed a breath of fresh air for me. It started off with the wedding preparations of Haaniyah (Soniya Hussain) and Ahad (Shehzaad Sheikh). Everyone seemed busy and excited about the wedding except one person; Ahad himself.
Ahad is the younger of the two brothers in the family. He happens to be spoilt one in the family and also a tad bit stubborn and immature, who has not been given any responsibility all his life. One day before his marriage to Haaniyah, he starts getting second thoughts about his marriage and gets the pre-wedding jitters. He suddenly realizes that he is not ready to take up such a big responsibility at such a young age as he wants to ‘enjoy’ his life at this stage like his friends.
Ahmed (Fahad Mustafa) is just the opposite of his younger brother. He is more mature, soft spoken and well-mannered. He happens to be the ‘perfect gentleman’ from what I could make out from the one scene he had in the episode. Since this episode was more focused on Haaniyah and Ahad’s wedding, we barely saw him. I am surely looking forward to seeing more of his scenes in the show.
Haaniyah is also the youngest in the family and is loved by everyone. I truly loved her equation with her elder brother Ahsan (Khalid Malik) who seems to be teasing her all the time. Her character happens to be full of life and she seemed extremely excited and happy about her marriage to Ahad. She happens to be madly and irrevocably in love with him even though Ahad gets a bit rude to her at times, she never minds anything. She seems to be living her dream until Ahad comes and bursts her bubble.
Ahad is the kind of person who loves himself more than anything else and has a careless attitude towards life. Without thinking about Haaniyah, he decided to break up with her the night before the wedding and left the poor girl in a hysterical state. I cannot believe he actually expected her to understand his feelings! After hearing his friend’s views about marriage, he got cold feet and was convinced that he had made a mistake in the first place by agreeing to get married to Haaniyah. And even though he loved her, he did not want to get married to her because he was not ready. Well, you should have thought that before agreeing to get married Ahad! Plus all the blame went on Haaniyah’s head as she apparently forced him for marriage. It was pretty evident that it was a mutual decision to get married and nobody forced him in the first place. He just needed a reason to break up.
The rain scene where Ahad informs Haaniyah of his decision was brilliantly directed and executed. It was different from what we usually see in dramas. I would say it had a filmy touch to it, which made it more appealing to watch. The scene was emotionally loaded and both Soniya and Shehzaad performed splendidly. I found Soniya a tad bit over the top but overall the scene was perfect. If a girl gets ditched by her fiancé the night before her wedding, then I am sure she would be hysterical just like it was shown.
From the promos, we all know what is next and I am desperately looking forward to the next track. The preview for the next episode shows Haaniyah’s reaction to the news. I would rate this episode 3 out of 5.
The most anticipated Pakistani movie Josh which was released this Eid, is still now in cinemas and as shared before, it was only today that I, along with my family watch the movie and it is really a critical point to define it as either a success or a failure. Receiving a tough competition from the Bollywood release ‘Chennai Express’ within the country, most of the audience who is making its way towards Josh to support the local content has gotten all its answers that why is Josh still somewhere far behind the ratings of Chennai Express.
The promos of the movie spread a different idea where the audience hoped to see something related to the concept of freedom in general. However the movie has its own meaning of freedom in the movie. Let us first discuss its plot in detail.
The story as shared in my previous predicted reviews, is about a girl Fatima (Aamina Sheikh) who lives with her father(Khalid Ahmed) and beloved nanny (Naila Ali),enjoying a high profile living. Being in love deeply with her artist friend Adil, she is in general a humble and sweet girl who feels s for the suffering ones. Her Nanny, Nusrat Bi belongs to a rural tribe which was been ruled by a politician ‘Khan’ (Qaisar Khan) who govern the basti, called ‘Khuda Ki Basti’ completely. Nusrat’s family is the one who actually serves food to the orphan children of the basti and is hated by the feudalist Khan. Nusrat Bi takes a leave from her work to help her brother who stole wheat from khan’s reservoirs. Ahmed though escapes once Khan gets to know about it, but Nusrat becomes a victim of him and is been raped brutally and killed afterwards.
When she didn’t return, Fatima visits her house and finds her dead body lying in front of her. People of the basti, though tried to hide the truth but soon she gets to know about it when she decides to continue Nusrat’s services by feeding orphans. Khan, who wanted to be their god again finds Fatima as an interruption and his people kidnaps her when people started supporting her against the move. Ahmed then tries to get her free and in the darkness of night, his gunman kills Khan’s own son.
The movie ends only here showing Khan to be arrested by the police and the free food service turns into a hotel.
Yes, this is it all! Let me just quickly share the strong points and the weak ones here.
Strong points
Flawless acting by all the characters
Beautifully directed
High quality graphics
Good music
Well-written dialogues
Weak Points
The plot could have been better
All the actors are known for being the drama faces. Seemed more like a HUM TV drama!
Overall maintained a slow pace!
Abrupt ending! Abrupt indeed!
It is yet hard to pass any comment over its business because what I have been keeping in view is the crowd which I experienced in the cinema. Though Chennai express seems to enjoy 6 times more business than Josh, Josh still has its patriotic touch.
The movie which is striving really hard to give a tough competition to the Bollywood and Hollywood releases in the country as a standalone Pakistani movie is attracting more audience day by day. Josh is a movie which reveals all about the lives of people who live in rural areas of Pakistan and are under a great pressure of feudalism. The cast of the movie is further motivating the Pakistani drama lovers to see actors like Amina Sheikh, Mohib Mirza, Naila Ali and Naveen Waqar on big screen.
The film’s private premiere early in August was a successful event in Karachi where many celebrities showed up to support the movie at Atrium Mall-Karachi.
Here are a few snaps been taken, have a look!
Now that the movie is all available in cinemas and I am also done with the rituals of Eid, I am done with the ticket purchasing of the movie for this Monday and will be watching the movie with my family to support the local content. Have you grabbed your tickets by now?
If given an option, would Meera and Mathira be your top choices for celebrities you want to spend your Eid with? If the reply of most of the readers is in negative then I wonder why our Morning Show hosts in particular are convinced that it is important to invite such controversial AND unbearable celebrities or more like attention seekers to shows in order to get the attention of the public. The viewers were not spared even during Ramazan and now on Eid day also it is almost as if there is a competition between Morning Shows hosts as to who can bag these celebrities first.
Isn’t it sad that our television industry is full of talented and decent people but our Morning Show hosts never make the effort to call them on their shows so that people can enjoy quality entertainment on Eid? On the contrary, they resort to short cuts in order to get the attention of the public. They know that there are many viewers who will get amused by Mathira’s and Meera’s cheapness and some more will watch it out of curiosity; in short it will serve the purpose so why put in extra effort to call some decent, intelligent and not to mention more talented people to the show.
Some of these Morning Show hosts appear to play second fiddle in their own shows while these over the top and strange women take over their shows. They may get attention for all the wrong reasons but all they want is attention, it doesn’t matter whether it is positive or negative. The norm now is that the louder and most controversial an Eid show is, more people will be attracted to it. I am certain that there are many intelligent viewers who do not jump at the prospect of watching Mathira, Meera and the likes in Eid special shows. Does the presence of such guests show the mentality of the Morning Show organizers or does it prove that most viewers are hypocrites; they may criticize such controversial celebrities but the fact is that they actually want to see them. Because if these celebrities were so unpopular why would there be virtually a race between Morning Show hosts to get hold of them.
I have read the views of many viewers on different forums and I am very convinced that people just want celebrities/attention seekers like Mathira to “disappear’! But then when these celebrities appear on every second show especially special shows like Ramazan special and Eid specials , I wonder if the channels are cashing in on all the “popularity” which these women have among public. You know the urdu saying “Badnam hun gaye tu kya naam na ho ga”. Is that really the case? Are Mathira, Meera and others like them invited to shows because they actually get the channels the TRPs they want?
So, it was more like a musical that echoed pleasantly in our ears. Everyone channeled out their feelings through melodies. A few were amazing but the others were innocently hideous. Haha!
Before saying anything, I must say I am enjoying everyone’s time to time ‘kiyafay’ about Zara & her health. Aunn Zara both are in their very early stages of falling in love where you just smile to yourself & as a recorded history you lose you appetite, you take those timely glances that make your heart flutter & those little gestures that can make your heart skip a beat. That growing longing for each other that they portrayed was adorable. It was so much like a typical newly wedded couple where one of them wants to spend sometime with the spouse & the other is hesitant as they’re too engaged in the huge family chores. What makes it more interesting is Zara being unaware about what sort of messages even her expression send to her in-laws, haha!
In the middle of all these events Aunn definitely found peace after he blurted everything out in front of Manzar. I guess Aunn should know that he can not completely rely on Manzar’s intelligence because he skips some common sense at times too, lol! His song list was amazing I must say.
I find the idea of sooooo many ladies sharing such a strong & nice bond as a breath of fresh air. Each one of them pays utmost attention to the other & all the arguments are solely seen where someone is convincing the other. Husna & Daadi have such a nice relation & Zara is enjoying the benefits of their healthy relation too. Husna is equally caring towards Zara because she herself found a nice ‘saas’.
Zara wanted to celebrate the wedding anniversary but even though Daadi knew how Husna would feel, she tried to talk Husna into it because she knew Zara meant something good & expected the whole family to have a good time. Husna’s sacrifice means a lot where she put her ‘bahu’s’ feelings ahead of her own & subtly enjoyed the eve of her anniversary.
Aunn’s songs were so funny & what’s funnier was that he actually sang those songs thinking he’d prove a point to Zara. He’d be able to convey his feelings to her. Zara, obviously was too excited about her own little party plan that she didn’t bother paying a heed to him. His ‘kabhi kabhi mere dil mai’ was a decent choice of a song but again couldn’t help him convey his feelings. I loveeed how he sang it. lol!
Finally, Zara has admitted falling in love with him too which is equally sweet. This episode focused more on their growing feelings towards each other which I thoroughly enjoyed & obviously felt that it ended too quickly. Can’t wait to see more of their chemistry & how they put their egos aside & confess how madly they have started to fall in love with each other. Can’t wait to see more of their love roller-coaster.
The movie which was supposed to make its way to the cinema houses this Eid will now be releasing somewhere in coming months and has released its official trailer. Enjoying a rich cast, where we see Shan Shahid, Ayesha Khan, Shamoon Abbasi, Ali Azmat, Meesha Shafi and actors like them in lead roles, the movie is all about loving your country. The movie highlights the current issues of Pakistan and the fact that all it need to improve the situation is patriotism.
Eid is an occasion on which all the Muslims celebrate their fasting in the month of Ramadan and spend time with their families and relatives and exchange gifts and blessings. Thanks to the advancement which has been seen in our entertainment industry, every occasion, whether it be new years eve or independence day, Eid or Ramadan, our TV channels make sure that they make a full use of it by offering special transmissions to their viewers. Being a citizen of a Muslim country, our celebrities to celebrate eid on screen and off screen and here is a small collection of Pakistani celebrities in their Eid outfits of 2013!
With each passing episode, Zayaan is getting more and more on my nerves. His unreasonable attitude is unbearable to watch at times. We have got more insight into his feelings this week though. I was correct in my assumption that he is behaving like this because he considers Maryam imperfect now. His first thought at seeing Maryam in the hospital, “Ab Tum Who Maryam Nahi Jis Se Meine Shaadi Ki Thi”said it all! According to Zayaan, Maryam is no longer the ideal life partner that he had in mind.
Maryam finally complained to Zayaan about his absence during her operation and that all she wanted were a few words of consolation from him. My heart went out to her in this scene. She is still unaware of the reason behind his changed feelings and I wonder how she would feel or react when she would get to know them! She does sense that Zayaan has changed and is trying to avoid her but she does not know why.
Faiza carried on her charade of being a kind person and a true friend by going to the hospital to meet Maryam. Maryam was very happy to see her there, but for some reason Zayaan got annoyed by her presence. Maybe because he did not want Faiza to see Maryam in this state, he did not want her to see that Maryam is not perfect anymore.
As expected, Afshah and Nusrat did not even bother to go to the hospital to meet Maryam. Even when Faiza asked Afshah to come with her, she clearly refused. And the way Nusrat asked Maryam ‘Tum Theek Hogaee’ when she came home was just plain rude. I cannot believe Afshah and Nusrat are still planning to get Faiza and Zayaan married! After seeing the closeness between the two, they started planning again. When will they both stop trying!
Faiza has officially become Zayaan’s mentor now. He only shares his feelings with her and takes her advice. I was a bit shocked though when she told Zayaan to treat Maryam well after she comes home as she needs more love and care at this stage. It is true that Maryam will get hurt if she ever gets to know what Zayaan has in his mind. He is clearly regretting his decision to marry Maryam in the first place. This was very obvious in the scene where Maryam recalls how desperate Zayaan was to marry her and he says ‘Shayad Yehi Kismat Mein Tha’
Maryam wanted to make Zayaan happy and be close by his side and this is the reason why she refused to go home with Tasneem. She wanted to go back to her house with Zayaan to win his approval but Zayaan was least bothered about this. He is even more indifferent now than before. Maryam’s future seems very bleak in Zayaan’s house.
One thing that completely grossed me out was all the maid scenes. The maid track was completely unnecessary and I do not know what the writer was thinking when she added this track. Noori’s obsession with Zayaan was totally disgusting and these scenes annoyed me to no end. I hope they kick out Noori soon. I really do not feel like watching anymore of this track.
Faysal Qureshi has played Zayaan’s character to perfection. He has portrayed Zayaan’s feelings so well and has completely molded in his character. Ayeza also stands out with her brilliant acting in this show ans she surely deserves a round of applause for her performance.
Zayaan’s is getting away from Maryam and closer to Faiza now. I am really curious to know what will happen next! Will he marry Faiza now?
The latest installment of this show was full of drama, laughter and much more. We finally saw the confrontation between the Barood and Bhatts this week. Initially, they were pretty much enjoying each other’s company until Dadi Jaan made her dramatic entry. I felt pretty bad for the whole Bhatt family when Dadi insulted them so badly! She should not have called them words like ‘low standard’ and ‘low class’, that was pretty rude of Dadi Jaan. After that, there was no way Badi Ammi was going to do rishta with their family and this left both Alishba and Sikander helpless once again.
Alishba and Sikander both lost hope for a while but then they were back again with a bang! They resorted to the oldest trick in the book: blackmailing. When nothing else works, this formula always works. Alishba blackmailed her parent by faking suicide, desperate times call for desperate measures! She finally made her father agree to go and apologize to Sikander’s family. One thing I find unbearable in this show is Amber’s overacting. She truly needs to learn how to act! Her overreaction to Alishba’s ‘suicide’ news was just too much to bear. The best part of this ‘suicide’ fiasco was Alishba’s treatment with Ahmed Nafees, she was so angry at him that she literally wanted to claw his face out! The poor guy got scared seeing this new side of her and went running to his mother and Nani.
Sikander also resorted to emotional blackmail to end Badi Ammi’s anger towards him. Mohib’s overacting in this scene was hard to digest! She finally did agree to the marriage when Alishba came with her parents to apologize to her for Dadi’s behavior. It was not easy though, initially she was furious to see them in her house and told them to leave immediately but it was Sikander’s mother who finally spoke up this time. Sikander’s mother was quiet all this time because she felt indebted to the Bhatts for supporting them after Sikander’s father’s death. But when Sikander told her that she was sacrificing his happiness in the process, she spoke up against Badi Ammi for the first time. When Badi Ammi saw how much Alishba and Sikander loved each other, she finally agreed to the marriage but she also clearly said that she did not want to keep any relation with Alishba’s family. Well, at least she agreed to the marriage!
Now came the task of informing Dadi Jaan about Sikander’s and Alishba’s marriage, and this time Dada Jaan did not let Dadi Jaan or Durre have their way. He made it clear that Alishba will get married to Sikander whether they agree or not. Dada Jaan’s character is one of my favorite ones in the show. He might be half deaf but he can definitely speak up when needed. When Zahid came to apologize to his mother and to give an invitation for the ‘Haan’ function, Dada Jaan gave the final verdict that everybody will go to the function for Alishba’s sake. Now the question is, will Dadi Jaan really go to the function? I really hope so.
Baddi Ammi might have agreed to the marriage but not wholeheartedly. She refused to attend the ‘Haan’ function as she did not want to confront Dadi Jaan again. Sikander’s mother told her not to repeat the mistake she made years ago with her own son because by the time she realized her mistake, it was just too late. When Badi Ammi still did not melt and insisted on going back to Lahore, Sikander and Chachu created another drama to make her agree. That drama was a little hard to digest though. How did Badi Ammi ever fall for that drama is just beyond me.
Hamza was not seen much this week and I definitely missed him. I really loved the scene between him and Haniya though. It looks like Haniya is finally melting towards him and since she is thinking of ending her engagement with Saif, Hamza might have a chance now.
Now let’s see if Dadi Jaana and Badi Ammi make their appearance at the ‘Haan’ function!
Eid is just around the corner. I am sure that everyone is done with their Eid shopping and other preparations by now. It always makes me a little sad when the month of Ramadan is drawing to a close because there are so many of us who normally do not follow the teachings of Islam all through the year except in this month. In my opinion while we are all busy with the festivities of Eid, there are a few things which we should not forget.
The spirit of Islam should continue even after the end of the Holy month
The holy month of Ramadan gives us few very valuable lessons. Firstly, that our lives should be dedicated and centered around our religion. Secondly and most importantly there is pleasure in giving. All through Ramadan we try to help out as many people as we can but why only in Ramadan. Why not continue helping others, not just financially but in any way we can all through the year and especially on Eid. The most important thing to remember this Eid is that we must not forget to be generous. Sharing and giving is what can make this occasion more memorable and special, not just for us but also for those who do not have as much resources as many of us.
Don’t forget that we are all equal in the eyes of God
Ramadan teaches us the lesson that we are all equal in the eyes of God. All Muslims, whether they are rich or poor, young or old, live in Europe or Middle East, all of them have the same rituals during Ramadan. We must remember that all teaching of Islam basically try to teach us that we are all equal in the eyes of God. Never look down upon anyone because of their social status.
Making someone smile can be the biggest gift not just for the other person but also yourself
Try to make someone happy even if you have to go out of your way to do so. Making children happy in particular can be s o rewarding, that is something I know from personal experience. If you can’t do something grand, do something small like buy a big pack of sweets and distribute it among children who cross your path on Eid , especially the ones who cannot afford to buy these goodies. A smile on their face will make your day.
Eid is a wonderful time to make up with people you may have fought with or are not talking to
Forgive those who may have wronged you. If you are at fault then there is no better time to ask for forgiveness than on Eid. It will only make your day even better. You may just win a friend or a family member back this Eid only by making the first move so go ahead:)
Unfortunately, there are many of us who think that when Ramadan ends it is time to move on but it is not so. We wish our readers a very Happy Eid, spend time with your friends and families, have a lot of fun but please don’t forget those people who are less fortunate.
May Allah bless all of you and your families on this Eid and all through the year. Ameen.
Previously banned movie in Pakistan, ‘Chennai Express’ has now made a clean sweep this Eid in almost all cinema houses where the tickets are already been sold of every slot been allotted to the movie. Starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika, the movie is a comedy-love story which reflects the odour of Chennai, a city of India. The movie’s release was said to be banned within the country this Eid to support the local business which is linked to the two movies(previously four) which are also making their way to the big screen on the first day of Eid.
When we shared the news and conducted a survey on our social media fan page, it was interesting to read the comments of the readers who said that they would be supporting the Pakistani movie Josh and highly condemn the airing of an Indian movie on Eid but just like all other predictions, even the reviews differed with the results. Some of the readers also said that Eid is a holy day and one should celebrate it with family rather than going to cinemas and watching movies, but it is interesting to see that all the seats are now reserved and there are many for sure who are now in the waiting list or holding on their breaths to grab their ticket for the new slots of new dates the cinemas will next announce.
Amina Sheikh’s Josh is still far behind in terms of business as compared to the Indian movie so those of you who are planning to support the local content should get your hands on your ticket as it is, Chennai Express is no more available for the latecomers!
Previously cherished cherish holy month of Ramadan is now nothing more but an attempt to to secure more TRPs for the private channels which is really a significant aspect one should think about. Now that the month has reached its end, it has been heard that the religious scholars have passed a Fatwa that all such so-called religious programs are causing harm to the actual idea of Ramadan and have declared them Haraam.
Its is important to state that there is nothing new this year only but an extension has been seen to the past few years’ celebrations. We have been sharing or rather criticizing over the issue and here is what the scholars have to say about it.
Have a look!
It seems like now that Aamir Liaquat has been known well by the people for his previous Ghalib video which earned him hatred of people who are truly following the teachings of Islam, he is now enjoying to be a real smart one out by playing with a holy theme. It is not only Geo TV this year but all the private channels who have tried their level best to improve their ratings.
Now that even a panel of scholars have even passed a Fatwa about it, let us see how things turn out to be next year but there is one thing for sure that such acts are really something Muslims should condemn. Ramadan is a month to worship your Lord and purifying your soul from evil thoughts and deeds and not something where Muslims should be attending shows to grab their hands on a piece of branded cloth or Q-Mobile.
This latest installment of Kadurat was just as happening as the last three. The story definitely has newness and the treatment given to it is A-grade. Sanam Saeed looks terrific and fits in perfectly in a character that can’t be easy to perform. In the last episode Mina was shown as a scared and insecure girl who felt alienated in her own house. But, today’s episode went to prove that Mina’s character will have a lot of surprises in store for the viewers. Another good thing about the play is that each character is being revealed to us gradually. Apart from finding out that Mina is quite capable of making her family’s life a living hell all on her own; we also discovered that there is a reason why Alina is so scared of Mina.
Alina’s conversation with Daniyal in which she mentions that Mina has always taken away from her all that was dear to her went to show that Mina has always been this way with Alina. This means that she must have been visiting regularly while she was away at the hostel. All the conversations between the different characters were very well thought out and to the point. The screenplay definitely offers a few surprises because personally as a viewer I wasn’t expecting Mina to get “comfortable” this soon.
Mahmood’s conversation with the psychiatrist was also a very important scene which explained Mina’s behavior as well as Mina’s irregular visits to the psychiatrist and how she can be “cured”. When the doctor suggested to Mahmood that Mina needs a lot of love and care, I couldn’t help but think that maybe it was too late for that even! She has been living with the bitterness for far too long and also she had a scarred childhood. Yes, she is a grown up now and really should know better. But, the fact is that Mina is sick and unless her sickness is cured, her attitude will not get better.
Asad’s confidence was seriously shattered by the latest developments and I found his mother’s attitude rather odd. Even after everything that has transpired, she is not taking the matter seriously. She brushed off the Mina giving her milk incident aside without giving it a second thought. I think the viewers must be convinced by now that Mina indeed is a serious threat to the family.
The best scene of today’s episode had to be the one in which Mina tries to push Alina down the staircase. The timing was just perfect; it had been shot and acted out to perfection. The director and the actors deserve big thumbs up for that scene in particular. The editors of the play deserve special appreciation for the crisp editing which is one of the reasons that each episode keeps you glued to your seat.
Zoha Hassan has really amazed me with her script till now. The reason being that the story is brand new and also because the screenplay is very engaing. Although, the viewer’s have been watching Mina’s negative attitude right from the first episode but the things she does are very unpredictable. I did not expect her to go as far as giving all of Alina’s precious jewelry including her necklace which she treasured so much to the maid but I guess we should expect the unexpected from Mina from now on. A part of me was on the fence regarding the storyline because the entire “taking the revenge” can get boring but it surely isn’t the case till now.
Every play is a success or a failure based on team effort and Kadurat till now has proved to be a splendid example of great team effort. The writer has come up with a novel script since every second play revolves around married life and its complications. The director Aabis Raza has surely outdone himself, I cannot praise him enough. The editing team has done a better job than the editing team of many other more popular plays. All the actors are at their best in Kadurat and their portrayals are flawless. I know Kadurat has only four episodes to its credit but the fact that the story has a good pace helps you judge the overall storyline better. In today’s episode Momal Sheikh was just as brilliant as Sanam Saeed. Overall, this was a very engaging episode and the preview for the next episode made me look forward to more.

Much awaited Pakistani movie ‘Waar’ will too not be releasing this Eid according to the latest news just like the release of ‘Main hoon Shahid Afridi’ has been postponed at 11th hour. It was previously announced that the movie will be released world wide this year on eid, giving a tough competition to the other three Pakistani movies but unfortunately, movie Waar will now be released in September or October.
The maker of the film, Bilal Lashari has been working really hard to make things work for his first movie which is based on the idea of countering terrorism. The first promo of the movie went on air exactly two years back but due to the uncertain hurdles, the movie failed to make its way to the cinemas.
The movie comes under the banner of ARY Films and holds a significant importance to every Pakistani due to its resemblance with the real issues of the country. Adding further charm in the project, the cast of the movie includes Shaan Shahid, Shamoon Abbasi, Ali Azmat, Ayesha Khan and Meesha Shafi.
It was highly predicted that the movie might not bring decent business as there were no strong promotion campaigns been seen by the advertisers and now that it will release later, it can be expected that the team will come up with better and more profitable plan.
We hope that the efforts been put in by our celebrities in the said project bring fruitful results.
The holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr is now a few hours away from us and has been shared with you all, there were 4 major Pakistani movies releasing this year on Eid, out of them the most powerful release was expected by Humayun Saeed’s ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’. Like all other movie lovers, even was looking for some tickets for my family for the movie Josh (and not ‘MHSA’) and figured out that ‘’Main hoon Shahid Afridi’ will not be releasing on Eid in the country. The movie’s release has been delayed probably to provide a clear gateway to the previously banned Bollywood movie ‘Chennai Express’.
Still confused? Making it easier to understand, Indian Movie Chennai Express which was previously banned in Pakistan to give the local content a better exposure within the country has already made its way to the cinemas and is a part of the ShowTime been offered by Pakistani popular cinemas.
Atrium Cinema in Karachi, which offers an online booking service has already set its schedule for the movies that are been released this eid and it is interesting to see that despite of the hype been created about the four upcoming Pakistani movies, Josh, Ishq Khuda, Main Shahid Afridi hoon and Waar, we can see Josh only that is been schedule where even Ishq Khuda is also kept on hold.
Announcing the delay in the release, Vasay Chaudhry, the writer of the movie told the Express Tribune that the movie editor Azam Khan has passed away and the movie is still not done with the final touches. He also admitted that if the movie would have been released this Eid, the Bollywood movie which will now release on Eid would have taken up the market completely and so play it safe, it is better to release the movie some days later.
Let us see which movie takes up the market this Eid,
People all around the world are celebrating friendship’s day wishing all their friends on a special day that has been dedicated to the bond of friendship and even our celebrities are nowhere behind. It is one of the foremost duties of a platform, such as reviewit.pk to break all the news that are somehow related to the media industry of Pakistan without any delay and appreciate the work been done by our celebrities if it is worthy of praise. What we have today to share with you all is a great news that it will be finally this year that Pakistan will be making its entry in the Oscar Awards, which is exactly 50 years after it made its last entry.
Oscars are considered to be a dream come true for all the celebrities who earn fame, respect and applause from an entire world for their great work and now that we see our film-making industry flourishing, it is more than a delight to see our celebrities and best-selling movies to be nominated in Oscars.
As it is, the country will be producing four high-budget movies this Eid and the producers are hopeful for their success. As per the latest reveals, a committee of some veteran actors and experts has been framed who will be selecting the movies to be nominated in the Oscars. The deadline for the list of submission is announced to be October 1st.
The said committee will be headed by Oscar Award winner, Sharmeen Obaid who made the nation proud of herself with her film ‘The saving faces’. Moreover, you will see Mohsin Hamid, Mehreen Jabbar, Rahat Kazmi, Akifa Mian, Samina Peerzada and Framji Minwalla playing an important role in the committee.
There are certainly no second thoughts about the potentials of our emerging Film actors, yet, it is still an excited fact that they will be representing the nation on such a huge platform. India, being popular for its Bollywood industry has been nominated for its movies on and off and it is expected that this year, too, the neighboring rival will give Pakistani movies a tough competition in the niche of foreign language category.
Keep your fingers crossed for more news over the issue,
This post is meant to be strictly food for thought, nothing more and nothing less. I think countless readers and drama viewers can relate to it because there are numerous times when we find ourselves wishing or thinking how a particular male and female lead will look together in a play. Our industry is full of artists who are very gifted. Our directors and producers also experiment with different kinds of on screen couples all the time. Gone are the days when an on screen couple was a hit with the viewers, it was seen over and over again because their presence alone guaranteed that people will watch a drama. If that was the case then we would have seen Mahira and Fawad Khan, Sanam Baloch and Fawad Khan on screen together again and again. Nowadays, the trend has reversed. When an on screen couple is as big a hit as Khirad and Asher and Bano and Hassan then the directors and producers want that those memories should stay in people’s mind and do not show the same actors and actresses together in different dramas. Based on this new trend of experimenting with different leads, I am going to give some ideas of which male and female lead will look good together based on my own likes and dislikes of course.
Fawad Khan and Syra Yusef
Fawad Khan is older than Syra but he can still pass for a college boy if given the right make over. I really like both Fawad and Syra. Ideally I would like to see them in a romantic comedy; something like AunnZara because Syra has proved already that she is really good at doing comic characters and Fawad Khan and his fans need a break from all the serious roles that he has been doing.
Don’t you think that these two will make a very cute couple?
Sami Khan and Sanam Baloch
The other day I saw a picture of Sami Khan and Sanam Baloch, they looked great together. Both of them are exceptional actors even though Sami Khan is wasting himself in roles that don’t bring out the best in him but that doesn’t change the fact that he is a very gifted actor. Sanam Baloch has always maintained a very good chemistry with all her co stars. I think both of them will look great in an intense role because Sanam emotes very well and so does Sami Khan.
What do you think will they look good together or not?
Ahsan Khan and Sanam Jang
I am very certain that all of Ahsan Khan and Sanam Jang’s fans will do anything to see both of them together in the same play. Sanam Jang is another new actress who is the queen of expressions. Ahsan Khan is a very versatile actor, he has no problem fitting in any kind of role so we know for sure that he will not let us down.
Would you like to see both of them as a couple in a play? If not then who do you think they will look good with?
Meekal Zulfiqar and Ayza Khan
Ayza Khan is very cute and very talented. Meekal Zulfiqar is talented but sometimes I feel like he is being typecast. I have always wanted to see both of them together in a play. But for once Meekal should not play the bad husband who cannot do justice to his wife. It would be really good to see them in a romantic serial in which they have strong characters but there isn’t too much rona dhona.
Have you ever wished to see both of them together? There is no harm in wishing!
Danish Taimoor and Alishba Yusef
Alishba Yusef is one of those actresses who make their fans wait for too long before they make an appearance on screen. I really liked Danish Taimoor’s acting and character in drama serial Rehai. He should do more projects in which he gets to play such roles. Alishba Yusef and Danish Taimoor will make an amazing on screen couple given that they are working in a good play with a good quality script and of course with a first-class director.
Mahira Khan and ?
Who do you think Mahira Khan will good with? Honestly speaking, I would really like to see Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan on screen together again but we all know that is not going to happen. Mahira Khan and Mohib Mirza also had a very good on screen chemistry in the play Shehr-e-Zaat. Ahsan Khan and Mahira Khan will look good together too but seriously this one is a difficult choice so I will leave it to the readers to decide.
Feel free to share your views about the above ideas for on screen couples without any reservations.
