Javed Akhtar is a celebrated poet, lyricist and film writer in both India and Pakistan. He has a wide range of hit projects under his belt and he is also considered among Urdu literaries of current age. He has been to Pakistan many times in his life and he is often invited till date to all the literary festivals.

He was guest at the Faiz Festival recently held in Lahore where he spoke and mingled with other Pakistani artists who were attending the festival.

Web series Ms. Marvel has taken the charming and brilliant Pakistani artists to an international level. Fawad Khan and Mehwish Hayat’s electrifying chemistry left the audience awestruck. The two, despite being the best actors in Pakistan, didn’t work together before.This episode of Ms Marvel depicted the fascinating love story of Great Grand Father & Great Grand Mother of Kamala. All the fans and the critics are in love with Fawad Khan and Mehwish Hayat, both the actors stole the series with their charm and brilliance. All the spectators admired Aisha and Hassan’s love story and talked about their chemistry.A popular Canadian film critic and YouTuber John Campea praised the chemistry of Mehwish Hayat and Fawad Khan in his podcast. In our orthodox Pakistani society, the friendship between males and females is still unacceptable. The majority of people believe that men and women can never be friends. The question is asked by many and most of the time the answer remains the same. Khalil-Ur-Rehman Qamar one of the most famous and controversial writers of Pakistan, who is accused of being a misogynist, recently in an interview talked about the friendship of girl and boy in the light of his experience.

The band (Call) which has been associated to music since years and reunited last year only is all set to release their new music video on the New Year’s Eve. In conversation with The Express Tribune, Xulfiqar Jabbar Khan (known as Xulfi) said, Call has been together for 15 years. “We are releasing a music video to celebrate the band’s 15 years together.”

He further shared how did the idea of the music video came to him, “It just occurred to me that we have a ton of footage from concerts, behind-the-scenes and other ventures. As I was going through them, I realised we could make a video out of them as a tribute to the fans.”

Xulfi went on to thank listeners for the support they have extended to the band over the years. “Call has seen a lot of ups and downs but our fans have stuck with us through it all. With this video, we want to thank them for their support.”

As far as the band’s future is concerned, there’s only one thing for sure. “The future of Call is music. It doesn’t matter whether we come up with singles or an album or just do concerts. We are here to stay and make music again. That’s the reason we got back together,” Xulfi explained.

After delivering a critically acclaimed family drama with Cake, director Asim Abbasi is now all set to tap the world of web series in Pakistan.

Taking to his Twitter, the director, announced his web series Churails, which as he says will shatter a number of stereotypes in the society.

“Hojayein tayaar, khwateen aur hazraat. Especially hazraat. Jald arahi hain kuch rangeen Churailein, aapki deep-rooted misogyny ki band bajaanay,” states the caption.

Earlier Asim Abbasi shared how it had been a very tough experience for him to create the web series.

“500+ script pages, 150+ locations, 100+ characters, 75+ days of principal photography…. And finally it’s a wrap!
Thank you to everyone who was a part of this insane journey – a journey that broke all of us into a million little pieces, physically, mentally and emotionally. I don’t know if the blood, sweat and tears will show on screen or if the end result will be what we had hoped it would be or if our audiences are even ready for this narrative… But this much I do know:
a) hundreds of people have worked tirelessly for better part of this year, to help craft and visualise this story and I am indebted to each and every one of them.
b) every female character in this series will kick some serious douchebag ass and be shamelessly unapologetic. Just like the good lord intended,” wrote the director on his Instagram.

Currently talking to Images, Asim Abbasi also added, “I am super excited about Churails. It has been creatively such a liberating experience for me, to tell this story as unabashedly as it needs to be told. The web series is expected to release on an international platform, most probably in the first quarter of next year. Cast will be revealed in due time.”

Cake was a film made with a lot of layers. It is an amalgam of good performances, great direction and a good story. Cake did average business but got a lot of praise from critics for its overall look. The Amina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed and Adnan Malik starrer had drama, romance and a tinge of mystery woven into it. Looks like Cake is up for another big achievement.

The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee, chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy-winning documentarian Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has selected the Asim Abbasi directorial Cake for consideration into “Foreign Language Film Award”. The Pakistani selection committee also includes Kamila Shamshi, Saira Kazmi, HM Naqvi, Hadiqa Kiani, Ali Sethi, Zoe Viccaji, Nadeem Farooq Paracha, Nabila Maqsood, Khalid Malik and Faisal Qureshi.

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will select the final nominees for the categories and it will decide the fate of Cake. The Pakistani Academy is hopeful for Cake to get selected for the special category.

Muslims around the globe celebrate this auspicious occasion. Celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H). The day started off with thirty one gun salutes at federal capital and twenty one guns salute of provincial capitals. On this religious occasion PM Imran Khan ordered the CDA and ICT Administration to cut the largest Rabi-ul-Awwal cake in Pakistan as part of the Milad-e-Mustafa in Islamabad. The cake was 80 ft long. The cake was distributed in panahgahs, orphanages and madrassas.

Right after the pictures from the cake cutting ceremony went viral on social media, the netzines were quick enough to respond. PM Imran Khan faced immense backlash from the audience for his recent act saying that they could have spent this money on helping the needy people rather than wasting on a cake. Pakistani feature film Cake had a very different vibe overall. The film had a strong script, beautiful cinematography and some of the very best performances. The new achievement came when Cake won the award for the Best Feature Film category at the South Asian Film Festival held in Montreal. Adding another feather in its cap, Cake has also been sent as a submission for Best Film In The Foreign Language category for Oscars. The final results will be out in January.

Popular Cafe Aylanto in Gulberg, Lahore has been sealed after a raid where numerous bottles of Alcohol were recovered. The police raided the cafe where these alcohol bottles were being served in a regular manner . The police also seized all the bottles they also captured the video of the owners. The local Cafe visitors are saying that it is a normal routine it seems this time they didn’t bribe the police.

People are taking a jab at a system that these things often happen but actions are not always taken.

But we are happy that proper action has been taken in this regard and police have updated all about it which means they were strictly ordered to do such raids and confiscate Alcohol and other stuff that is related to any kind of addiction and has injurious effects.

Cable operators in Bangladesh want a ban on transmission of Pakistani channels in Bangladesh. As per Bangladeshi newspaper “Daily Star” cable operators have threatened to boycott transmission of all Pakistani channels in Bangladesh.

The move is said to be in response to a resolution of Pakistani parliament which condemned death sentence of Abdul Qadir Mullah, a Bangladeshi politician.

Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s first (former) wife Dr Bushra Iqbal has shared her concern about the High Court’s decision of performing autopsy of the dead body of the host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain. She has urged fans to be vocal about it as the autopsy is a painful procedure for dead people and Islam doesn’t allow it.

She wrote on her Twitter, “All of you who are the fans and admirers of late Amir Liaquat Hussain, are you in favor of postmortem of Dr Aamir Liaquat, do you want his body to go through this procedure? They want their contentment after giving the torture and pain to the dead body? Shari’ah doesn’t does not allow this act, dismemberment of the dead and exhumation of the grave is forbidden in Islam. She further said, “For those referencing possible murder: According to the Civil Surgeon’s external examination, there were no signs of bruises, fractures, injuries and violence marks on the body of the deceased. From this point of view as well a post-mortem would be purposeless.

The death of Aamir Liaquat Hussain stated a whole new controversy when his third ex-wife Dania Shah claimed foul play and wanted a post-mortem conducted in his case. She filed a case where she wanted the body to be exhumed and then go through a post-mortem. Aamir’s children Dua and Ahmed as well as his first ex-wife Dr Bushra Iqbal blocked the petition and fought for Aamir and did not let the post-mortem happen at that time.

The family won the right as the body was not exhumed and now in a podcast with Hafiz Ahmed, Bushra Iqbal has revealed why did her kids and herself insisted that the post-moretm should not be conducted.

She shared that Aamir Liaquat had a will regarding conducting his post-mortem. He did not want his body to ever go through a post-mortem and this was his will which he had shared several times in his life. Bushra Iqbal shared that his life came under threats many times as he was a political worker and later due to controversies that happened during the Alim Online era.

He thus said every time any threat came that never let anyone perform post-mortem on him and bury him as he was. His family also did not see any foul play after they got the initial reports. Bushra said that they would have been the first to call for a post-mortem if they expected something but it was all natural and they respected his will.
