Sarwat Gillani and Fahad Mirza make a very cute couple and the few pictures they have shared of themselves make us believe in love because the love they feel for each other is evident in their eyes. This episode was one of the most interesting ones in the drama. This play constantly delivers in terms of performance and intense entertainment. It was a very happening episode where the unbelievable events were shown very realistically. Each and every actress excelled in terms of acting and fitting in the character they were playing.
The episode started with Amber and Iqra happily trying to go and find the house that Farhan was going to rent for them. However things soon took an ugly turn when the sisters realised that they were being used and exploited by Iqra’s husband who had taken advantage of the fact that there were no males in the household. All his concern for trying to be the son of the house was just a charade that he had played along with his mother and whatever family he had brought to Naheed’s house for running away with all the money and jewellery and everything that he could manage to snatch from them. It was an extremely sad realisation but everyone was hiding from admitting the fact that they had been robbed so cruelly and so selfishly but Anum being the strongest one ultimately made them face the truth. Despite all their efforts to find out why Farhan had disappeared all of a sudden, they had in time come to terms with the ugly truth that Iqra’s marriage was just a plot by him for stealing their belongings, including Naheed’s credit card money and Iqra’s jewellery as well as dowry amount.
Well Farhan did seem too good to be true but it could still be thought that the mother and daughters had ultimately found a man whom they would be proud to associate with but sadly this was not the case, not with this man. Shehzad and Naheed’s relationship is shown very realistically. A lot of siblings in Pakistan after their marriages have a similar kind of love hate relationship where they do feel for each other but egos come in the way and stop them from being totally compassionate for their siblings, despite having the pull of blood underneath the false pride and conflicts. Fareeha was also on spot with her acting, a little softer even. She was rubbing their wounds but in the way most well meaning extended relative usually do. Naheed Shabbir is a brilliant actress but the blue lenses seemed totally out of place today. Since there was so much focus on her face today, they glared out every time she was on screen. Saima Noor as also brilliant when she reminded Shehzad that it was him who had refused to go and find out more about Farhan on her request.
Amber was seen pondering over what everyone had said about the fact that they were cheated and robbed because they did not have a man in their house and that women cannot survive alone in this society. Her determination showed that she was now intent on proving them wrong and that is why she had gone on to get an FIR registered against Farhan and his family. This was a very good move on her part and the promo shows she will have Naheed’s support in pursuing the case and justly so. Why should they suffer quietly because there is no male member in their family.
On the other hand, Anila was very happy to find out what had happened in terms of Iqra’s broken marriage. Sabreen Hisbani did not have much screen time today and she failed to impress in whatever little she had. Sajid Hassan, however was a whole different ball game. This man is a genius when it comes to acting. Without saying a word, he conveyed the exact emotions of a father who was hurt, devastated and regretful at the unfairness of his firstborn, his eldest daughter’s fate but he had never been much of a father to them, so he does not have the right to grieve about them openly. He was all alone, lost in remorse for a daughter whom he could never give anything but must have had a glimmer of hope somewhere deep down in his heart that life would compensate for her sufferings, which Mehwish Qureshi was brilliant in translating on screen today. She was another character today who again without saying a word depicted the feelings perfectly. There was no over acting, no loud emotions, just very genuine tears of a middle class girl with a troubled childhood who had just started daring to give dreams a place in her life.
Hats off to the team of director and actors for a fabulous episode today!!
Ohkay so, another week another situation in Yakeen Ka Safar. I am not really sure what made Farhat Ishtiyaq believe that this story could be turned into a 30 episode drama because apart from a few situations every now & then, there is nothing much that has been happening in this drama. To be honest, ever since I have heard that the writer herself confirmed that Yakeen Ka Safar will have around 30 episodes, it really has taken away my interest from it because the slow pace really sticks out like a sore thumb. If we look at it, this episode was done nicely but did anything special happen in it, no!
So, Kharjista’s character was introduced, a young girl who has become Bahadur Khan’s second wife & is now a victim of domestic violence. I am not sure what to say or feel about her character because for me, this was another situation that was added to showcase the struggles & emotions of doctors & bring in another ‘bechari aurat’ in the story. May be these new characters will have an important role to play in the future or may be this bechari aurat will emerge as a survivor because of Zubiya’s guidance but how are they going to contribute to the actual story for now is not clear. This situation only changed one thing which was, that it forced Dr. Asfand to think outside the box. Just because Zubiya requested him to speak to Bahadur & even though he refused to do that, he couldn’t take it out of his mind. Dr. Asfand knows what he wants like he has had a clear vision so far but for the first time he was forced to think if he was doing enough or if there was more that he could give to those people who came to his hospital, like more than their physical healing, could he help them with mental & emotional healing as well? It was nice that Dr. Shehroz considered Zubiya’s request & spoke to Bahadur Khan. Even though it is a nominal thing but it was quite unconvincing, like everyone knows how strict Dr. Asfand is, so just because a junior doctor told Dr. Shahab to take a leave & rest, he left without even seeking permission from his boss; Dr. Asfand? I don’t know why but looks like these kinds of situations are being created to further showcase how Zubiya ticks Asfand off & how he keeps on getting chances to find faults in her!
Well, one fine night Rehan grew concerned about Zubiya & it took micro second for Sheema to start spewing venom against her. Well, she had a complete information about what Zubiya did & where she was but her claim that she is after another doctor these days was a bit extra. I wish Rehan had showed Sheema her right place ages ago, that would’ve spared him & us Sheema’s misery!
Finally Zubiya found out that her friend Gaiti is related to Asfand & her reaction was pretty realistic. Zubiya has always felt awkward in front of Asfand & she has been trying really hard to prove herself as a doctor in front of him, so she was right in assuming that Dr. Asfand might feel she was trying to score some points by forming personal relations with his family. Gaiti can obviously not understand what Zubiya goes through because she hasn’t seen the way Asfand treats her, that is why she told her to relax & not think too much but Zubiya was right in her stance!
Oh well, to be honest, the preview of the next episode has really put me off, like seriously, Zubiya will be taunted ONCE AGAIN for what she did years & years ago? I find it funny how every other person in this drama is shown to be so badtameez that they gossip about Zubiya right in front of her like for my entire life I knew that gossiping was done behind people’s back but in this drama, they are trying to change the norm & are teaching people that they can be gossip mongers in front of the one they are gossiping about as well. I think they have really really pushed it too far like in stead of ticking viewers off, they are not making ANY point by showing Zubiya’s past being brought in front of her again & again. I know the writer did say that people are unforgiving but isn’t she being unforgiving too, lol seriously! I know may be Asfand will be the only one who wouldn’t judge her after remembering that she was the one whom he rescued ages ago, but wouldn’t it have been so REFRESHING if there was one such person (read female) who had said that may be it was a silly mistake that Zubiya did when she was KID? Like ONE such person who had judged Zubiya based on how she conducts herself NOW in stead of focusing much on what she has done in her PAST? Seriously, they are pushing it too far & it is quite annoying because looks like they have nothing left to show so they keep on digging the old grave? If Zubiya was still in Karachi, surrounded by people who knew her & her family background, it would’ve made sense but to see her past making it to her remote workplace is a bit too much! I find it amusing that in every other place, Zubiya comes across one such ‘pupho’ who not only is interested in her past but miraculously finds out about it, taunts her about it too & then spreads it like a Nutella is spread on a bread! Shahid Afridi is known as ‘boom boom’ for a reason; and he proved that that nickname is still fitting for him by smashing a 100 from just 42 balls. Breaking records is something our former skipper is really good at and this trait of his has made Pakistan proud so many times in the past.
The star batsman is currently playing in NatWest T20 series. Yesterday he had a match against Derbyshire and the Hampshire player was in a great mood, it seems. He scored 101 from just 43 balls!
Of course the audience was thoroughly entertained by his excellent performance. And of course Hampshire won thanks to the century.

Hassan Sheheryar Yasin has become a well known name in Pakistan. In fact, he is one of the biggest names of our fashion Industry. But he is more than just a successful fashion designer; he is a director and a host too. He is best known for hosting Tonight with HSY as far as his hosting career goes. But his successful career is not what we are here to talk about today.
A few hours back, Mr.Hassan shared a picture of himself with the Bollywood beauty, Katrina Kaif. The picture was taken a few years back when the Bollywood actress had visited Lahore and come down to HSY’s Lahore studio for shopping.The picture has received a lot of comments saying how different both the stars look now, many even suggested HSY to tag Katrina Kaif so she can also go down the memory lane and maybe even comment on the time she spent in Lahore.
Hassan also said that Katrina Kaif is not only beautiful but also sweet and easy to talk to too. We wonder if they ever got in touch again after that meeting, after all, HSY has become quite a name since then.
With the world becoming a global village now, eastern and western outfits have all merged into one single wardrobe and especially when it comes to celebrities who can afford the best of imported brands and ensembles. However, there are still some of them whom you must have seen in contemporary westernised attires but they never look as special in them as do when they are wearing traditional ethnic wear. Maybe it is the predominantly eastern features or the way they carry themselves, but here is a list of celebrities who look far better and more endearing when they are donning shalwar kameez or saris or ajraks and all sorts of other traditional Pakistani dresses.

3. Sanam Baloch; She is very well aware that her beauty shines through in traditional eastern clothes and hence, you would hardly ever find Sanam sporting jeans and tees. She has an aura about her that glams up in Pakistani dresses.
4. Arij Fatyma; She is also one of those sensible actresses who prefer looking classy to looking trendy, because you can look trendy but not always beautiful that way while classy is always beautiful.
5. Sanam Jung; Despite being a very upbeat and modern woman, Sanam sticks to ethnic outfits when it comes to dressing up for public appearances and looks gorgeous in them. You can find her in casual western clothes on her instagram but she is always primed up properly when she comes on TV and her dressing looks made just for her.

Whether for modelling or for roles like Bilal of Dumpukht and Qasim of O’Rangreza, Bilal Abbas rocks shalwar kameez like no one else.
7. Samiya Mumtaz; This extremely talented actress of today who has nailedwhatever role she has played also looks her best in eastern wear. She has a grace about her which makes her look so impressive in saris and shalwar kameezes, both formally and casually.
8. Sarah Khan; Sarah has a very endearing persona and an extremely adorable girl next door attitude. She carries eastern wear to perfection. Her hair color and facial features all are in complete sync with ethnic designs and cuts.
9. Sanam Saeed; The tall and dark diva has a way of carrying herself that is unmatched, though her grace shines brightest when she is in traditional wear. She is very fond of western clothing and is seen wearing it very often but nothing makes her look as good as eastern wear. It transforms her from ordinary to extraordinary in a flash.
10. Noman Ijaz; Saving the best for the end, Noman Ijaz has to be the best looking actor in traditional shalwar suits. He has been taking roles like that from a very long time but whenever he appears on screen with his larger than life personality that is so quiet, yet so effective in a shalwar suit with waist coat or shawl , he can beat any model or actor of today unanimously.

Ohkay so, I never really thought I would find myself saying this but I must confess, I found this episode of Teri Raza quite interesting, lol. I know this will come as a surprise but I have a good explanation for it. This happened because after weeks of torture, I found one decent character in this play who I found realistic & relate-able & yes, that is Imtiyaz. It doesn’t mean that I would stop calling him Paa Mmtyaz but at least he seems sane one out of the lot, for now. I am also going to say that the loopholes of the story are still there, there are still so many unreasonable things, conversations & dialogues in this drama that make me question its purpose but overall, this episode was surprisingly & fairly decent!
Well, just when Suhana found herself stuck in this marriage, Imtiyaz, like a doting husband started making amends only to make her feel comfortable & loved. Imtiyaz has started changing himself to fit the image that Suhana had in her mind of her life partner but looks like there’s nothing that is going to ever please Suhana in regards to this marriage because if Imtiyaz fixes one thing, she finds a reason to complain about the other, if he directs his energies on that matter, she opens a new case.
It is not a mystery anymore & the answer is pretty simple, Suhana doesn’t love/like Imtiyaz so there’s nothing that he would do would make her or her feelings change but then, in the middle of this for the first time I felt Imtiyaz was the one who was suffering. Yes, at first I did find him selfish but then like he said he always wanted to know if she was happy, at least he tried finding out about it before marriage & continued to find answer to this concern of his after his marriage too but since Suhana is so difficult, his simplest of methods, simplest of questions are being dissed & his confusion makes sense because he on his own is doing everything for her but it’s just not enough!
The writer here is trying to show that if someone is not in love, they can not lead a happy married life but then, Suhana is completely unreasonable because no one, absolutely no one forced her into this marriage & she herself was the one who took one for the team to protect them from Istikhara’s Badshaghuni, so if there’s someone she should be angry at, it is Suhana herself. She should blame herself first before blaming anyone. To be honest, I don’t feel a thing for her character nor do I find her or her struggles relate-able because as clichéd as it may sound but Imtiyaz has turned out to be a loving husband whereas Rameez not only betrayed her but he ditched her too, called her a gold digger, created a scene at her home, misbehaved with her mother, but still if she sees ‘him’ as an ideal man than by all means she can just jump off the roof & the viewers would be rejoicing, cheering & hooting because she is coming across as a psychopath!
I must say, I am ready to forgive Shehroz’s choice of T-shirt in this episode because of his dialogue ‘mai sir tor doonga’ which he used for Suhana’s mother, hahah! I laughed out loud at that moment & completely agreed with him because that entire scenario was so bizarre. First off, Suhana stuffed things up, she herself clearly told Imtiyaz that she isn’t happy because this wasn’t a love marriage & then immediately started posing as a toddler in front of her mother saying that she had ‘no’ idea why Imtiyaz was behaving differently, like she covered herself up & put the entire blame on Imtiyaz saying that he has grown suspicious, without even holding herself accountable for the bizarre behavior that she has portrayed ever since she has gotten married. So, anyways, she stuffed things up, like Suhana knows how to create a scene but when she had to make amends & had to fix things, she started acting like a fish out of the water, totally clueless like a child about what she should do & spoke to her mother & that mother, as weird as her name is, took the entire matter in another direction. It is so amusing that where Talat has ZERO control over her own princess-like daughter, she thinks she can control someone like Rameez who misbehaved with her right on her face? That entire scenario was so bizarre but the only best thing about it were the reactions of Rameez & his mother where they literally insulted Talat & treated her with disrespect because that is what she deserves. Not that I am a fan of his character of I am advocating him, but Rameez has given a complete closure to Suhana’s chapter, so it was absolutely unreasonable of Talat to even assume that he can harm Suhana’s already damaged, broken & imperfect relationship! It would’ve been so much better if in stead of speaking to Rameez’s mother, Talat had spoken to Suhana & had told her about the consequences that she would face. It’s like Talat herself doesn’t want Suhana to come to a complete closure about Rameez’s chapter, that is why she rekindled this done & dusted affair so that Suhana doesn’t forget about him! I swear, Talat is turning out to be one of the worst mothers I have seen on-screen, like anything that this woman says or do makes me cringe!!!
Imtiyaz tried to reason with Suhana & found out that she doesn’t love him, even then he seemed justified because he nullified Suhana’s theory of love missing from this relationship because if not from her side, there’s love in this marriage from his side at least. Well, it is quite obvious that the salty cousin, whatever her name is, is going to replace Suhana in Imtiyaz’s life but it is funny how she looks like a dog stuck with a bone because every single conversation that has taken place between Imtiyaz & her, has only revolved around how Suhana snatched Imtiyaz; the bone away from her? Like seriously girl, wearing a coat doesn’t make you look professional, your attitude needs to be professional as well, like who discusses family matters & incomplete un-knotted ‘rishtas’ at workplace? That salty cousin legit seems unhappy that she couldn’t bag Imtiyaz’s proposal, like gurl, get a life!
Along with Suhana, her atittude, everything about her, another thing that I found absolutely weird was her dialogue where she said ‘meri dost ne to khudh kushi bhi karne ki koshish ki thi’, like what sort of dialogues are these? In every other episode you find such dialogues that make you question writer’s mentality & sensibility. Seriously in this day & age are you promoting suicide as some kind of standard which people try to reach in order to prove their love? I wish the writer had understood that with the pen used for scripts, comes a greater responsibility too but oh well, chaat masala conversations leave quite an impression!
I must say this Jeena’s character is quite annoying, like seriously doesn’t she have anything better to do than to speak about Suhana in front of Rameez & vice versa? She seems obsessed & if she thinks she is coming across as a well-wisher then please someone borrow a pin & burst her bubble because she looks absolutely aimless & lifeless. It was so bizarre that she went through the pain of arranging a meeting with Suhana to inform her of what her mother did, like she could’ve just spoken to her over the phone. Then her claim that ‘Rameez aik bohat acha larka hai’, like excuse me? Appse kiss ne poocha? Weird!
Anyways, this episode had its weird moments because it wouldn’t be Teri Raza without such scenarios but other than that, I found Imtiyaz’s side of the story pretty decent & relate-able. Suhana’s character is a pain to watch & Sanam Baloch’s forlorn face is not helping either. Shehroz Sazbwari gets full points for that one dialogue that he said about another most annoying character Talat. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Teri Raza!

It is indeed a sad point in my life, or in the lives of dramaholics like myself, when I have to ration out my drama watching to an episode a day because if I were to watch both episodes of two dramas airing one day I may not have anything to watch the next day. I know there are quite a few dramas on air that a lot of us really like and appreciate but only a handful seem to be on my watch list nowadays. Yet, the reason for my critique is nothing sophisticated or fanciful, rather can be likened to just a fussy toddler who will refuse to eat certain things, well just because!
A drama serial’s success rides on several factors such as the script, director, visual effects – the works. Which brings me to one factor that for me can pose as an instant deciding factor as to whether I want to follow that particular drama or not – the people (actors and actresses) in the drama. I will not make this article about my favorite actors and actresses but rather about those actors and actresses that you see far too often nowadays and how I (we) feel about them. Please note that this is entirely a product of my own brain (and heart – and eyes – and ears, you get the idea!). It would be almost impossible for everyone to like what I like, or dislike what ideas I may dislike because well, it is not as if we are talking about biryani here that everyone would have a universal positive opinion about Having said that, it is with a pathar on my heart that I admit here I am a parent to a species that does not love biryani. Another sad fact of life, but there it is. And before I digress here, let me split up my article as follows based on the title – Ek baar dekho hazaar baar dekho…..(although the title suggests classification based on looks lol, I will focus on the acting prowess and skills instead.
Errm, no thank you!
Ah, where do I begin? Sometimes I see it coming. A new supporting actor/actress in one drama and switch the channel, same face and I know I will be resigned to seeing the same face almost everywhere soon. That does not necessarily have to be an entirely bad thing if the said person can pull it off which would be the second part of this article.
Aiman and Minal Khan
So, I get they are cute. I guess. But the made up faces, long curls, sulking and flouncing from one serial to the next over the past few months makes me wonder if I am missing anything – if I were not to see them act ever again. From Khaali Haath, Sun Yaara, Zindaan and now Hari Hari Churiyan these two sisters seem to be the flavour of the month – and I am not feeling it.
Sheroz Sabzwari
So I get that we do not see too much of him on TV – and that in itself says it all.
Noor Hassan
The deep voice and head tilted at one angle is all I have learnt to associate with this actor in the past few years. He was consistent in his appearance and acting at least but failed to make a mark. I almost mentally resign myself to expecting nothing new from his acting when I see his face amongst the cast of a new drama – and he never fails to prove me right. Ah well, except that one drama where gravity decided to have a dance at his expense and the only difference was when his beard was a bit longer and his hair skewed upwards – Be Aib was it? What bothers me is that every drama I view I see Noor Hassan and never the character he is meant to be portraying.
Faisal Qureshi
There was a time when many of us, myself included would make it a point to watch a drama if Faisal Qureshi was starring in it. So, I would never have imagined myself including him in this list but then here I am. Whether it is because of the characters he has chosen to play recently (Dabbu Bhai in Mera Yaar Miladay, man of questionable sanity in Zakham or whatever he was that he was in Waada and Rang Lagga) -sadly he offers nothing new anymore.
Kubra Khan
She is beautiful, yes and impressed most of us with her acting in Sang e Marmar. I watched Muqaabil on and off and her acting was decent. But then throw in Andaz e Sitam and Alif Allah Aur Insaan and she seems to be everywhere and my beef with that is that I see Kubra and not the character she is playing.
Junaid Khan
The only time I really liked Junaid Khan was in Sun Yaara and I can safely that is because that was one drama he did not have to act in. Rephrase – his character was based on his acting, if that makes sense.
Yes please!
And then you have those actors and actresses that may be appearing in drama serials back to back or even in a few at the same time, but one does not seem to quite mind because they can actually pull it off.
Sami Khan
That is the first name that came to my mind for this list. He has been around for a while and although he is a good actor he seems to be suddenly shining more nowadays. He is starring in three dramas that are on air nowadays and while I am regularly following two of them Be Inteha and Tere Bina, Fatima’s reviews on the third one,Tau Dil Ka Kiya Hua makes me believe he is acting just as well in this one too. His portrayal of Sherry in Be Inteha is wonderful and his absence is sorely felt when his character took its leave from the drama.
Noman Ejaz
I had to think twice about this name. He is an amazing actor – no doubt about that. But then over the past year or so he has been appearing in a lot of dramas – some good, some not as much. But what made me add his name here is that each role he performed – he owned. The evil pir in Dumpukht, gunda in Bhai, Da Jee in Sang e Marmar, exasperated scornful husband in Laut Kay Chalay Aana and now in Rungreza – he delivers each time and his acting is never lacking.
Bilal Abbas
I was impressed by Bilal’s acting in Dumpukht. It all seemed so effortless and again in Saanp Seerhi. Although he seemed to be taking on only drama at a time but then with Rasm e Duniya still on air and now Rungreza and more projects in the pipeline, he is a promising addition to the drama world – and pretty easy on the eye too, if I may add!
Not ek and not hazaar – but somewhere in between!
This category is more in line with my personality. Not very passionately against or in favour of most things but moving safely and calmly along with the flow of life. While they are good actors and actresses in their own right, you do not see them often enough to make you want to see them even more – or want to never see them again!
Rabab Hashim
Another actress who has been around a while and has grown on me over time. Yes, her acting does not seem to offer anything new each time but for some reason – it works. For me at least. I particularly like her acting in Tumharay Hain at the moment.
Agha Ali
Well, because I kind of need to keep seeing him. On air. Just because. On a serious note, it is very hit and miss with Agha Ali. There are dramas where there is more focus by the director I suppose on his hair or dressing etc such as Andaz e Sitam and now Be Inteha but then he is also able to give very decent performances in dramas such as Tum Yaad Aye and Tumharay Hain.
Sehr Afzal
I would have at one time penned her down as an underrated actress and maybe still can. She was convincing as Zainy in Tum Yaad Aye and her acting was also effortless in Thora Sa Aasman. She is performing in two dramas that are currently on air at the moment, Amaanat and Muhabbat Khwab Safar but since I am not following either I can not comment on her acting there.
Ali Abbas
I initially could not watch Ali Abbas without hearing his real life father speak instead – something which was dramatically minimized in Kissay Chahoon. I enjoy watching him act (for the most part) since his characters are very diverse – from the bechara husband in Titli, to the good for nothing jerk in Laikin and the herb inspired character Basil in the recently concluded Khaali Haath – he keeps making small splashes that do not go unnoticed each time.
Naveen Waqar
Ah, I can already see a few raised brows and wrinkled noses and I would have been part of that group too till recently. While her acting does not wow you, yet she manages to hold her in own in her dramas of late such as Kuch Na Kaho and Be Inteha.
And then, you have actors and actresses such as the ones below that always make me say, haye Allah yeh phir?!

Veena Malik is famous for imitating famous people, be it celebrities or politicians, to perfection. This time, she decided to go for Maryam Nawaz. Maryam Nawaz has become the center of many memes, jokes and jests on social media since her father’s disqualification from prime ministership. There had been a few discrepancies in the evidence Mr.Nawaz Sharif’s daughter had provided to the court when the ex-Prime Minister was having his trial.The script Veena Malik follows in the video below targets that and not only is the script hilarious but her acting too. She manages to grab Maryam’s traits to perfection from fixing her dupatta/scarf to her authoritative voice as well as also her stubborn attitude. Kudos to Veena Malik for being excellent at what she does!
Danyal Zafar made a debut on Coke studio season 10 earlier this month and has managed to become the talk of the town since then. It isn’t necessarily for his singing though, but because of how similar he looks to his brother, Ali Zafar and well…because of him being Ali’s brother.
Regardless, he sang a song with Momina Mustehsan on Coke studio that received mixed reviews from the audience. He wasn’t able to charm the audience the way Ali is with his voice (and looks) but he is just beginning his music career so we can definitely hope for better things to come.
In an interview posted on dhanak(youtube), he revealed that he and his brother have a very different style in music, there are very few elements that interconnect them. He also said that the world already has one Ali Zafar, and there needn’t be two and so, he wants to make his own identity. He further claimed that Ali Zafar has inspired him in many ways and he wishes to make his brother proud. He hopes to find his own way and become successful in his own genre, his own way. He also acknowledged how lucky he is to be a part of Coke Studio, the voice of Pakistan. The ambitious singer said he wants to go even a step ahead of Ali Zafar and believed that Ali would wish the same.
Fakhr-e-Alam will soon be seen acting again. He has been a spokes person at Google and has just released a song by the name of Shikwa e Pakistan. He will also work on the answer to that song as he told on Sanam Baloch’s morning show. He is working on a telefilm named J.I.T. Yes Pakistanis are more than familiar with JIT these days and Fakhr will be doing a telefilm by that name but the letters here represent the names of three brothers. Fakhr will be seen playing the role of a woman and he has shared the pictures of his look on his facebook page. See pictures below:
Fakhr-e-Alam will be sharing screen with Faysal Qureshi and Aijaz Aslam. The telefilm is directed by Faisal Mehmood Khan who has also written the script. It will air on Eid ul Adha.
There’s no actor who knows how to stay in news and make headlines more than Meera Jee. She has always found her way into entertainment news’ websites and headlines of news channels and papers for one reason or the other.

Ohkay so, this episode showcased how everyone’s life was transitioning & how they were adapting to the changes. Though this episode’s pace was a bit on the slower side but it still didn’t take away the charm that this drama has because it is still quite evident that there’s a lot more in store for the viewers. Everyone went through a drastic change & now we have to see how their lives are going to shape up. I must say the phenomenal performances & the brilliant direction have elevated the level of this drama & it just takes you to the world of its own. It is a treat watching such strong dramatization of such an intense story, love it!
Reena Begum who only had big dreams never really imagined what it would be like to get closer to her dreams so easily, therefore now she is flying high, so much so that Chaman Begum felt the need to remind her that she needs to think realistically & stop in order to reflect upon her choices. The sky’s the limit for Reena Begum & since she has given all that she had, since she has put everything on the line, she is not going to stop because like she clearly said, she doesn’t believe in holding back due to the fear of losing. Nawazish Ali really wanted to work with her therefore he approached her again & Reena thinks there’s nothing that would come in her way. I liked how realistically they showed that after facing the bitter realities of this ‘new’ life, Reena has once again stepped into the dreamland, it’s like she has come to terms with every territory that came with this life & is now at a happy place because at least it is rewarding enough for her. Reena really has shown some mental & emotional growth there because after going through so much, after literally coming to the verge of breaking down, she now has understood that she needs to get her act together & enjoy what life is offering her & she is doing just exactly that without thinking too much. Chaman Begum can clearly see that Reena can fall prey to her own desires in worst way possible, that is why like a dutiful servant, she warned her!
I am not sure why Baba Jee always becomes uncomfortable whenever he hears something about Shahzeb’s marriage. I know he is not a psychic but may be because he saw Shahzeb’s silent suffering ever since he got engaged, Baba Jee has this idea that this relationship is not going to give Shahzeb the peace & harmony that he desires & deserves. Just because Baba Jee knows Shahzeb in & out & most importantly he understands him, he could see that despite not saying anything, despite not complaining, Shahzeb’s heart wasn’t at ease, so may be that’s why he feels for Shahzeb as he can foresee that this marriage is going to test him & his patience further!
I was surprised when I heard Shahzeb say that he already had an idea that Nazneen didn’t want to get married to him, like he isn’t too naive & analyzed the situation well but just because he loves her so much, he ignored the fact that Nazneen wasn’t into this relationship. Shahzeb really has some confidence in himself & his love where he thinks he would mould Nazneen but only time will tell because Nazneen really knows how to push someone to the limit. I found Qadir, Razia & Samina’s conversation about Nazneen spot on, like they know her & her shortcomings, that is why everything that they said made so much of sense as they are well aware of how far Nazneen can go.
I really felt for Basit, he is going to suffer much more than Nazneen & now sadly he has committed to love her even more than before, so it obviously means he is going to make himself suffer due to the guilt of giving up on her, it’s like Basit will punish himself for not being able to stand by her & most importantly for not being able to go against the elders. Tough times ahead for Basit. Oh well, just when in the commercial break I was thinking about Shammo, they gave us a flashback scene of Shammo trying to assure the viewers that he is not forgotten, but I really wish he still has a considerable role to play in the story & I want to see him as he is being missed.
I must say the note at which the episode ended was quite interesting, Shahzeb did get to know what was in Nazneen’s heart & looks like he will find it hard to accept it because for the first time he’d be complaining in front of Baba Jee. Reena slapping her fellow courtesan, hmmm looks like she now in literal sense will become Nigar Begum, tyrant like her, a dreamer like her but will she meet the same fate as her? I really want to know. Loved this episode even though it wasn’t as intense as the previous episodes of Alif Allah Aur Insaan but I guess this was much needed since there was a lot of drama happening in the past episodes that this one had to be a bit less dramatic & intense. Saba Qamar:
Saba is in the industry for many years now. She is undoubtedly the queen in the acting department among all the lead actresses of her time. She has proved her mettle countless times and has paralleled the acting prowess of legends like Nouman Ijaz. Be it her negative role in Maat or the unique portrayal of Gul e Rana in Uloo Baraye Farokht Nahin opposite Nouman Ijaz, she showed that why is she there where she is. Her role in Thakkan was also phenomenal. The lady has given back to back admirable performances in consecutive four plays now and is at the top of her game. She was nominated for several awards too. Her roles in Digest Writer, Main Sitara and Besharam were all very different and she nailed each one of them. Currently she is seen in Baaghi based on the life of Qandeel Baloch and her drama is in top rated shows since it has started with huge numbers following on youtube too.
Ayeza Khan:
Ayeza has made quite a name for herself. She played cute bubbly girl and damsel in distress for most of her dramas but got appreciation nonetheless. Ayeza gave a huge hit in the form of Pyare Afzal but when she got married people started speculating that she is leaving acting career and won’t come back on screens. Ayeza proved everyone wrong and came back with a bang in Tum Kon Piya opposite Imran Abbas Naqvi. She is currently seen in Geo’s Muhabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai and Hum’s Tou Dil Ka Kya Hua and both of these are hits. She also starred in Shehrnaz which wasn’t a big hit though.
Sajal Aly:
Sajal has come a long way in her career from a small actress with no links in the industry to a mega star. She knows how to make a character look real. Chup Raho was a dark dark play but Sajal nailed her character there. She was seen in Gul e Rana which had a good rating last (though I found the show annoying) but Sajal’s star power did drag people to watch it. She is currently working in Yaqeen Ka Safar and O Rangreza, both of her plays are on air on Hum TV and Sajal is straight forward phenomenal. I found her impressive in Yaqeen Ka Safar but she has taken her oomph factor to another level in O Rangreza. She has matched and even surpassed the acting of actors like Nouman Ijaz, Irsa Ghazal and Sana Fakhar. Her talent is visible in the hits she is being giving lately.
Kubra Khan:
Kubra Khan is relatively a newbie in the industry but it won’t be an understatement to say that she is already taking the drama industry with storm. She is beautiful and can carry both eastern and western looks well. Kubra was part of the extremely appreciated drama Sange Mar Mar and her role as Shireen was liked by the audience. At the same time she also starred opposite Imran Abbas Naqvi in season two of Khuda Aur Muhabbat. Both of her dramas were massive hits. Muqaabil on ARY was also extremely appreciated by the audience. She is currently seen in Alif Allah Aur Insaan as one of the leads and her drama is again ruling on TRP charts.
Hira Mani:
I think that the lady should have tried her hand in dramas earlier because she is too good. Her role in Preet Na Kariyo Koi was too good and she surpassed expectations in it. After that there is no looking back for her. Hira has made audience love her in Sun Yara and I love her acting in Yaqeen Ka Safar. Her pair with Shaz Khan looked phenomenal. They should do another project together soon. It will be a treat for the audience. She is again coming on our screens with Pagli on HUM TV and her role looks really different. With all good roles and several hits in her kitty she should keep choosing projects wisely.

Shuja Haider is a very successful singer, songwriter, composer, music director and record producer. He has produced a lot of albums for some of the most noteable names of our industry including Ali Zafar, Atif Aslam, Fariha Parvez, etc. His work in Coke Studio season 9 and 10 has also been very successful and appreciated by the audience. In a recent press release, Mr. Shuja announced that he will be producing Pakistan’s first ever complete interactive live music series, ‘Soundscape’. Soundscape aims to bring an experience of music combined with love for Pakistani culture. The first edition of the series is scheduled for November 2017 and will have singers from different regions of Pakistan come together and create a live-music medium to build Pakistani sound as a voice through which everyone can communicate.
Soundscape will be held in different cities of Pakistan so different cultures can be incorporated in it. Shuja is hopeful that with soundscape, live music will reach audiences that aren’t present where the music is being played. We believe it is a good initiative and wish Shuja best of luck for this passion project!
Hamza Ali Abbasi is a class in himself. Among the dapper heroes of Pakistan, doing things from surgeries to hair transplants to body building to dancing like teenagers in order to look younger than themselves, in walks one man clad in black shalwar kameez, talking about topics wiser than his years and much more serious than showbiz.
He has a a strength about him, a fearlessness with which he voices his opinion and yet a vulnerability that becomes evident when he receives the predictable backlash that he knowingly sets himself up. Majority of people in this world prefer to say neutral and diplomatic, especially when they are in the public eye, but not Hamza Ali Abbasi. He speaks his mind where he knows will cost him the most. These qualities make him an enigma in his own person. Everyone wants to get to know him more and understand what makes him who he is, so when we read an interview he has given to The News on Sunday, a couple of days back, we just had to bring the excerpts here.
We have all heard Hamza Ali Abbasi speak about the world, this country, its politicians and his undying loyalty for Imran Khan, but this interview was special because for the first time, he spoke in detail about his own self. Candid, honest and brutally truthful, Hamza tells that he was not always like this. He understands that people call him a hypocrite for criticising item songs, while he was the part of such he of scenes a few years ago. He admits to being a party animal, to being a womaniser and to being wild. So what brought about the change. For Hamza, it was the death of his father. The grievance made him so conscious about what he does with his life now. He spoke from the heart that death of a parent changes you, and he is so right. When someone so close to you leaves this world, all the sensitive souls turn back and reflect on their lifestyle choices. It also makes you fearless, like it did with Hamza. He has got nothing to gain and nothing to lose from being fake anymore. So he admits his flaws openly and even the fact that he is no saint even now. He said in the interview that he is slowly rectifying his faults but does not want to stop voicing his opinions because of people who call him a hypocrite.
He confided that brands approach him and request him to stop making political statement and appearing at such gatherings, so he can endorse them. As for Hamza, nothing means as much as the ability to be able to speak up for your beliefs. So, he refuses those brands. He believes what he is doing is right and that is all that matters to him. With a devil may care attitude, Hamza emphasises that he will continue to point out the flaws of the system. He believes in fulfilling his social and moral obligation to his people alongwith providing entertainment.
Talking of feminism and his statements on item numbers, Hamza sticks to his stance. He believes that they are just their to objectify a woman by showing men admiring their looks and moves. He gives examples that Bollywood blockbusters like Dangal, PK, Bajrangi Bhaijan, none had any item songs, so he proved his point that they are not needed for the movie to make a mark. He said that his mother is a criminal lawyer and his sister a dermatologist, so he comes from a family of achieving women and does not like to see women reduced to doing item numbers for movies.
In his own words, ““People love porn and it sells more than anything but does that make it right? Where do we make a distinction? We say porn is not okay, but if a woman is saying ‘mein supari hoon, chaba ley mujhe’ that’s okay? I think it’s a genre of porn”.
His choice of movies is now Parwaz Hai Junoon and Maula Jutt because they have to offer something new. He said he wanted to be part of the Air Force movie, because they make movies rarely, unlike the ISPR. On a humorous note, he added that he has had to shave due to being casted opposite Hania Amir and he didn’t want to look like her chacha. However, when she came dressed and made up, it made her look older so the difference evened out.
On a concluding note, he added that he has no intention of becoming a politician. He just wants to influence people by sticking to what he believe is right, and for that it does not matter to him who is against his opinion. He said he does not count lost films, media projects and brand endorsements because he has faith in God, and in his opinion that alone is enough to keep a person happy and content in any situation.

Thank God, he hasn’t joined Amjad Sabri, Qandeel Baloch and other departed souls in the next world yet, as the picture in the article wrongly depicted. His fans, in the comments section, expressed how shocked and heartbroken they were at the news. But there were some who said they knew the rumors were baseless and even joked that he should call in a press conference to confirm that he is indeed alive.
It’s unfortunate when some of our news agencies report such ‘non-existent’ incidents without bothering for a confirmation. We are glad to inform you that the young singer is healthy and well and also pray for his long, successful life.
This was yet another engaging episode of Ghairat which did not only take the story forward but also showed a certain degree of character development. Saba’s character is turning out to be the best part of this drama. The director deserves due credit for keeping the scenes short and to the point. Also, the timing of the flashback scene in tonight’s episode was impressive; it conveyed exactly what was going through Saba’s mind. Very often viewers are left wondering what is going through the mind of the lead characters which sometimes makes it very difficult for the viewers to connect to thes characters. Everything does not need to be communicated through dialogues but such flashback scenes play an important role in translating the feelings of any character.
Saba’s mother’s behavior and her stance is a breath of fresh air because we have watched so many dramas in the recent past in which mothers forced their daughters to put up with injustice. Although, she told Saba that she was not scared any more but later on she found it difficult to speak her mind when she was talking to Usman. I loved this particular scene because it was realistic; no one can change overnight especially someone who was never taught to take a stand for herself. Her attitude however shows that she does not want Saba to end up like Iqra. Samina Ahmed is a phenomenal actress who always gives every character she plays her best. Iqra Aziz has been beyond impressive as Saba; she makes it very easy for the viewers to connect to her character.
Zohaib once again tried to talk to Usman, a development which did more harm than good. This was yet another one of those developments in the story which show just how well-planned the entire plot is. If Usman just sat back and waited for Saba to get in touch with him, it would have been unrealistic. I also appreciate the fact that all the characters get as much screen time in every episode as they did in the first two episodes unlike many other dramas in which the writers and the directors have a difficult time dividing the story evenly among all the characters. The writer’s overall approach has been realistic and he has shown the conflict between all these characters exceptionally well. None of the characters so far have taken a backseat, all of them are constantly trying their best to get what they want whether it is Saba, Zohaib, Shagufta or Usman. Jibran Syed, Muneeb Butt and Saman Ansari have also performed brilliantly. They fit in perfectly in their respective roles. Usman’s conversation with his brother about Kulsoom highlighted his double standards! His “ghairat” only gets violated when the women in the house show their preference for a man and there is nothing wrong with the brothers spending time with women they are never even going to marry! I am glad that this particular aspect of Usman’s personality was shown in this episode because usually men like him have shocking double standards. Faizan Sheikh has also been acting brilliantly and I am wondering why his name is missing from the end credits!
Ghairat has definitely proved to be a pleasant surprise because I wasn’t expecting it to be this entertaining and well put together. The preview of the next episode showed Saba mustering up the courage to voice her opinion but she gets the same violent reaction from her brother which she got in the first episode. Looking forward to the next episode.

Ohkay so, finally, Yeh Raha Dil came to an end. As much as I am happy with the ending, I wish I could’ve said that about the way the ending was approached. The drama-makers expect us to tune to their drama (despite all the dragging) right till the end & just when the viewers do that in order to see their favorite characters together, they are given probably last 30 seconds of the drama together thinking it will be enough? I remember a lot of viewers complained about the fact that Hayat & Zaki being the lead pair didn’t have much scenes together but I always thought they must be saving the best for the last & we will get to see their magical scenes (& a lot of them) but now I feel trolled & yes, the drama-makers being responsible for it who literally gave the coverage to every other character for weeks & not Hayat & Zaki who we all were watching the drama for in the first place. Yes, I do understand that their relationship went through a lot of phases but to literally treat them as an after-thought was a bad bad idea! I don’t know why but I feel our drama-makers know how to kick start a drama but they really lack the knowledge of how to reach a perfect ending & this is exactly what happened with Yeh Raha Dil as well.
So, Salman came back & apologized to Hayat, even though I wasn’t expecting his return since it didn’t make any difference anymore, but the closure to this aspect was a bit too unrealistic. At least Hayat could’ve fought with him like the way she always did, it was good that she forgave him but demanding a little explanation wouldn’t have hurt. Yes, Hayat was at a happy place since she got her parents back, a sister, her home, enough finances to lead a stable life so it didn’t really matter to her what Salman did but at least Salman owed her an explanation!
Ohkay, even though I liked that Nida was shown leaving no stone unturned to convince everyone around her that she didn’t want to get married to Zaki since he & Hayat belonged together but I found those scenes a bit too unnecessarily long, like they could’ve easily cut down on them to accommodate others’ or if not anyone else; Hayat & Zaki’s scenes since they were the main leads. The conversation between Zaki, Nida & Jimmy was way too stretched because they kept on repeating the same things over & over again. Nida already explained herself to Zaki & told him the reason why she was backing out but looked like she had to do a whole lot of explaining once again only to fill the duration of the episode.
I really liked how they showed Hayat reflecting on everything that had happened in her life lately, where she was thankful for each & everything as this is exactly what she wanted but yes, she was dreading the idea of Zaki’s return in her life, even though in the end, she was the one who approached & confessed, so I guess it would’ve made so much sense if they had told what changed in her like what convinced her to go by what Nida wanted?
I never really thought that I would say, but out of all the conversations, I had a good laugh at Nida & Hassan’s conversation because his dialogues provided that comedy quotient that this drama was once known for. I mean how simple & plain could he be where he was being informed that he was played upon & he was comparing himself & his situation to Shahrukh Khan that too based on hypothesis? Oh well, Hassan did have a slip of tongue where he said ‘achi family ki larki’, hmmmm so even he wasn’t so unconditionally in love with Hayat & it was obvious that after seeing Hayat’s lifestyle & her family, Hassan thought it wasn’t a bad idea to be with a girl like her as it would help him secure his future & to be honest, it looked like he was more sad for missing out on the opportunity in stead of mourning Hayat’s loss, lol!
So, talking about the last scene, I so wish they had recreated that magical chemistry that both Hayat & Zaki once shared but since they didn’t have much time & they were rushing, they just brought in the flavor of the love-hate relationship that they both had. I am not sure why Zaki wasn’t the one who approached Hayat since he was going through so much of pain to play tricks on her so now when Nida was out of his life, what was he waiting for? I liked the fact that the writer gave a message that in stead of rushing into the marriage, both Hayat & Zaki set goals for themselves, like showcasing that they had their own life & priorities, even though it saddened me because I assumed we’d be getting to see Dilbar Jahangir (DJ) for the last time performing on their wedding so it didn’t happen but I still liked the fact that the drama didn’t end on a typical happily-ever-after note!
Overall, this episode was good but it could’ve been so much better. There was too much rona dhona for my liking, especially in a drama which started off as a rom-com. Yes, the things that needed closure needed this sort of treatment but just the way they added some bits of comedy through Hassan, they could’ve done that through other characters too in order to stay true to the genre of the drama. Even though the parents had their happy ending, but I wish they had shown their reactions on this matter too, where they had encouraged & appreciated Nida for her honesty & selflessness & had given their nod of approval to Hayat & Zaki. I feel so much else could’ve been done in this last episode but it was an opportunity wasted. However, I liked the fact that the writer very intelligently brought out the originality of the characters & kept them true to who they were introduced as. Nida chose to be stubborn just the way she was introduced even though she had so many people telling her that she shouldn’t call off this marriage. Zaki stayed confused even when the coast was clear & still wanted someone else (in this case Hayat) to take charge of the situation, like he just knew that he loved her but didn’t know the way to go about it. Hayat stayed calm & relaxed even after seeing the one who betrayed her in the worst possible way, like these were the details that I loved & enjoyed watching, it showcased the ability of the writer & the clear cut vision of his with which he conceived those characters!
I must thank the writer Mustafa Afridi for giving us such amazing characters & some very amusing dialogues throughout this drama. I will especially thank him for writing the character of Haroon, such a cool father who in stead of blaming anyone else, always held his son accountable for his mistakes & shortcomings. I loved his sarcastic one-liners that he directed at Zaki in order to wake him up but it just didn’t happen. I enjoyed Hayat’s character too & Zaki was an interesting hero as well who stayed confused right till the end. Fatima’s character was another interesting addition to the story where she was unapologetically herself & didn’t believe in posing to be someone she wasn’t. I wish they had shed a bit more light on what went wrong between Affaq & Hayat’s mother because during the drama it was hinted that something or the other will be revealed but it looked like a forgotten detail, like I was actually interested to find out the reason behind them drifting apart. I will especially thank Arjumand Azhar Hussain & Ayesha Sana for their phenomenal performances, just loved watching them as Haroon & Fatima. Imran Peerzada performed decently too. Adnan Jaffar deserves a special mention for playing the character of Jimmy with such finesse that he made us laugh even in the most complicated situations. Ahmed Ali Akbar & Yumna Zaidi were perfect as Zaki & Hayat & stayed in their element throughout the drama. The one who impressed me the most with the improved acting was Anum Gohar, like I could never imagine that the girl who was the weakest actor in the drama Kathputli had this much potential to perform like she was just amazing as Nida & lived the character of a fierce competitive model to perfection. Last but definitely not the least, I will thank Ehtashamuddin for becoming memorable Dilbar Jahangir & making us laugh hysterically! The director did a brilliant job as well but after a certain point it became a bit too obvious that even he couldn’t have a grip on the story because the producers chose to swoop in & told him to stretch the drama. I so wish Hum TV stops doing that because they have ruined some amazing amazing dramas by resorting to this practice.
Will I still recommend this drama to those who are interested in binge-watching it? Most certainly yes because it would be easier for them to skim through those episodes where the story lost its charm & became unreasonably stagnant. For me, it is going to remain such a drama that I have mixed feelings about, like I loved more than half of it but the ending part failed to keep my interest intact. Overall, I will still say it was a good & fun experience to tune to Yeh Raha Dil. Please share your thoughts about this interesting drama!
