Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 07

0

Ohkay, honestly I’m sort of confused to come to a conclusion about this drama because one week they come up with perfect emotions & perfect episode but on the other we’re exposed to long, meaningless & dragged scenes with not even some good conversations. This episode was just ohkay or we can take it as a passing by episode.

I find Eshal very optimistic about things in life. Even though she personally heard what Soni & Amman spoke about & they actually came across as lalchi log but she didn’t even pay heed to what they said & in stead complained to her father for not taking care of her in-laws for which she walked a mile just to make her in-laws feel better & happy.

As far as I can understand, Arez’s mother is a rational & normal person who doesn’t bother about things much but the one who actually uses her as a puppet is Soni. I’m amazed at how quickly her brain works & how she thinks things through. I must say Sana Askari has done an amazing job in making Soni look completely irritating & I love the fluency of her expressions. She makes Soni look like an actual ‘nand’ who’s proving to be a nightmare for ‘bhabhi’. It is sad though that the mother actually forgets her calm & starts acting whenever she hears Soni complain about anything.

The whole gift’s lena dena scene was a bit too dragged, wasn’t acted out well & seemed unrealistic. The only people who worked well in that particular bit were Bushra Ansari & Mehwish Hayat. Eeshal wanted to keep things normal & hence, kept on covering for the blunders Eva made, whereas her mother-in-law forgot about Eshaal & focused more on things which were gifted to them.

Eeshal’s intentions & feelings were pure & she didn’t want to make some sort of a statement by bringing expensive gifts for her uncultured in-laws, but in fact she did use her father’s money to bring smile on their faces because for Eeshal everything is just as simple as it can get. Her father has money, she knows it, doesn’t make an issue of being someone from a higher class but grabs the money & do things her way. This is what I like about her character that’s been etched out so far. She cried & wanted to run to her Dad which made her look like a quitter & someone who got a bit too scared of Saas-Nand taunts but what she later did was unexpected. Plus she has had two nasty encounters with in-laws behind Arez’s back, one where Soni was speaking to Amaan against Eeshal & the other where Soni was caught red-handed stealing Eeshal’s things but still she didn’t lose her cool & didn’t even bother complaining to Arez about what had happened & this makes her a very wise person who’s adapting the change in her life very care-freely.

Ohkay, I must say, I don’t find Eva interesting at all. We’ve been told a million times that she’s dumb & there’s no need to prove by her ‘mai-hoon-hi-nahi-is-dunya-ki’ one-liners. She can’t tolerate humidity in front of Eshaal’s MIL (mother-in-law), she wants Fresh Orange Juice, she thinks Shahraiz thought of her as a Chicken Sandwich & was too scared of Hell being hot. I mean c’mon!!! She is not someone who’s mentally challenged nor she’s uneducated, so what’s the point of showing her as a FOOL, in literal sense that too. Eeshal mentions ‘Eva not being so smart’, Rehbar mentions ‘he got married to someone stupid’ & what my point is, I don’t get nor do I want to get the point or plot behind this. IF there is a reason behind Eva being such an un-intelligent dumbo, they should’ve established a plot by now. Did anything happen to her when she was a kid? Or any sort of trauma she went through? NO! Because at the time of shopping & glamorizing herself, she beats everyone around but when it comes about reactions on normal situations, she has a mind of a 6 y/o. Her character is really confusing & I don’t think there was a need to show someone as dumb without any background or solid reason.

Both of these families are unusual but the only normal people are obviously Arez & Eeshal. & yes, I found Arez completely funny when he literally threw the shirt just because his mother asked him to. I am guessing he’s the same Arez who took stand for Eeshal in front of her own dad & accepted the humiliation just because he only wanted Eeshal, but now when he has gotten her, he doesn’t even care about her feelings, while knowing too that she was already insulted & questioned about her choices of gifts. He should’ve ignored what his mother said because Eeshal bought those gifts for him with love.

I think we now we know Eeshal’s in-laws better, so I am hoping we see something interesting & less dragged. Wasn’t a great episode but hoping the next one would be better with smaller scenes.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Waar – Some mixed opinions

0

While film WAAR is making new records of business on box office, some journalist and film makers have also expressed their opinion on the film mainly on twitter; this article is based on tweets and re-tweets by them on WAAR. It should be noted that a Tweet is a personal opinion of any person, not to be considered as official point of view of organization they work for. I here also want to acknowledge that most of the names of journalists are taken from the article on film WAAR by Haseeb Ahmed who usually surprises us with some unique and interesting topics.

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, who won the first Oscar for film Saving Faces has watched WAAR and mentioned it on twitter

Raza Rumi, is a journalist who works mainly for Capital TV. Here are his tweets

Murtaza Solangi is a senior broadcast journalist and former director general of Radio Pakistan. His opinion on WAAR

Hamid Mir is a journalist and columnist and works for Daily Jang and Geo News. He is famous for his program Capital Talk.

hm

I have tried to find some more professional critic opinion on WAAR, but apart from Rafay Mehmood, Murtaza Solangi and Sharmeen Obaid, there is same rhetoric of funding by ISPR and army rather than on technical aspects of film. On a personal note, I would say from ages we complain our government is not supporting local cinema and films which off course is true. Now If ISPR a government organization has provided logistics support for a film, what is wrong in it, in the end it all counts towards support and prosperity of local cinema.

Also now our local cinema is reviving there is a serious need for some film critics and journalist too. In past we had some very talented and professional film critics and journalists like Ilyas Rashidi, Ali Sufiyan Afaqi, Yaseen Goreja, Riaz ur Rehman Saghar, Hope to see more youngster coming as positive critics who will  follow footsteps of these legends.

Thanks.

Formula Films won’t work from now onwards : Ahsan Khan

0

Formula Films have pretty predictable kind of structure and don’t have any story different from routine movies. In short, repeated and reused plots and storyline makes a flop formula movie :) .

ahsan-khan

During an interview to Express news, Ahsan Khan said that masses of our country have developed their sense of differentiating good and bad. They know which movie they should go to watch in theaters and which not. He further advised to Pakistani Film Makers that People of our country are also expecting to have International quality films that can be released worldwide.

We should realize the need of the  hour now; Great and worse movies are part of every Cinema’s culture but we need to eradicate this culture and have to bring about our own trend of movies. If we want to revive Pakistan Film Industry and If we want our cinemas to be over-occupied again, we have to make movies having different story lines.

By making worse quality films, Film makers are not only ruining their time, money and energy but also wasting time of public. He said that movies are great source of entertainment and movie making is among profitable businesses in the world. If we will work faithfully, we will definitely come up with quality content to meet our viewers expectations like recently released Pakistani movie that did great business due to marvelous cinematography.

Shak – Episode 2

0

Yet another well-packaged episode came to an end. Story of the show is unfolded very skillfully and brilliantly by director today. Whole team is performing to its best and is compelling us to expect more and more from this show.

I was pretty much relieved when I saw Romaan Ali Khan Sahab completely safe and sound after he met through an accident. Sehrish’s reaction to the situation was predictable ; she had no children, still she cared for Romaan more than any woman who is blessed with the blessing of having a kid. I literally enjoyed  bandage part where Sehrish was following the commands of King Roomi with a lovely smile on her face :)

Sehrish had a yearning desire to have a kid and Romaan was somehow fulfilling her intense craving. Because of Roomi, she met Sania and yelled at her to the worse. Accha, I was expecting same Kashaf or Mina kind of reply from her but her character is completely contrary to the role of Kashaf or Mina. She stayed calm and quiet as it was the part of her nature.

Sania is spending her life with Roomi and her mother in law(Badar Khalil). Her disability to walk somehow developed sense of inferiority complex in her that is out bursting on Sania every time and every step she takes in presence of her. From giving medicines to every meal, Sania is always wrong for her. For that, she complaints her son, Ali (Sania’s husband) whenever he calls him.

One thing, I really like about this show is that both couples, Sehrish and Ehteshaam, Ali and Sania are etched out perfectly and portrayed as happily married. Where Sehrish and Shaam share lovely informal chemistry, Ali and Sania’s relation was of give-and-take-respect kind. Ali trusts Sania to the fullest and Sania forgets her pain and sorrows whenever Ali share his hard times with her. Ali was betrayed by his business partner and he is striving hard to earn his living and pay back all the loans while living in South Africa.

Unlike Sania’s fate, Sehrish was lucky enough to get a dream mother- in-law. I enjoyed every bit of light chit-chat that Sehrish and her MIL had with each other. The exercise part, Maham’s call and Sehrish’s reply sounded so cute and interesting to me. Sehrish knows that she is among few women who are fortunate enough of having this kind of MIL and she was too possessive about her and values her. Both of  MILs are like obverse sides of a card ; where one is brutal and harsh in nature, other is always easy-going and delightful.

Sehrish realized once again how lucky is she when she went to Sania’s place along with a cake and heard her MIL scolding and yelling at her. And then That Nazar utaarnay wala part was laughable one and fun-to-watch.

Sania recalled her past when she had an encounter with Ehtesham and her mother as her neighbors. She was once engaged to him and it can be seen that both of them had no emotional attachment. There relation didn’t work because Shaam wanted to marry Sehrish. For them, this relation initiated and ended in a glimpse of time and both of them had no regret of it.

Sehrish is still unaware of the fact that Shaam and Sania were engaged once. I am expecting that her unawareness will lead this serial towards its main theme “Shak”.

I am looking forward to more of this show as I am getting addicted to it.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 6 – Aaliyan ‘The Saviour’

0

The show is currently moving at a steady pace and they are showing the post marriage consequences in detail. The wedding might have been rushed, but attention is paid to the reaction of each and every member of the three families.

Though, Aaliyan’s whole life has turned upside down, he is still adamant to help Qudsiya through this problem. He does get frustrated and rude at times but at the end of the day, he always comes to save her. When she called him up and requested him to come to the hospital, he blatantly refused but then ended up in the hospital because his conscience kept on pricking him. ‘Mujhse kisi ki pareshani nahi dekhi jaati’, this is what he told Dudi when he informed her that he went to the hospital to meet Zaheer.

aaliyan 2The conversation with Zaheer made him highly uncomfortable because the poor man was thanking him for helping him through this tough time and considering him a farista but in reality, he was going to leave his daughter soon. The blind trust Zaheer was showing in Aaliyan made him feel guilty, and he left the room as soon as possible. Zaheer might play a very important role in Qudsiya and Aaliyan’s life. He might be the reason behind Qudsiya ending up permanently in Aaliyan’s house.

aaliyan 3Qudsiya’s family was in trouble again when Sultan purposely changed the policy concerning medical bills. Aaliyan once again turned savior for Qudsiya’s family when he gave the money for the hospital bills, and changed the policy. Aaliyan is truly a man with a heart of gold; he might be immature and careless but his kindness overshadows the other traits of his character.

aaliyan 4The scene where he did not recognize Qudsiya when she called him up and she actually had to explain ‘Qudsiya Jis Se Apki Shaadi Huwi Hai’ was truly hilarious! I felt so bad for Qudsiya; it must be so humiliating to know that your husband does not even remember your name. What I noticed in this episode is that Qudisya is finally warming a bit towards Aaliyan. Her expressions when Aaliyan paid all the bills without being asked could not be missed. After everything that he is doing for her, it is natural for her to be grateful to him at least a little.

aaliyan 1Natasha is a confused girl, and she really does not know what she wants from Aaliyan. Her conversation with her father proved that. On one hand, she does not want to leave him and on the other hand, she wants to either forget him or get back at him. Aaliyan had tried his best to make Natasha understand the situation, and the only thing he expects from her is to trust him. I completely agree with Aaliyan’s statement that there is no relationship without trust.

Mehmood has a bad perception about Aaliyan mainly because he judges him through Sultan’s character. Sultan and Aaliyan’s nature are poles apart. Aaliyan has gone after her mother which has been observed and mentioned by Dudi and his step-mom many times. Another mystery that has emerged is about Aaliyan’s mother. Why she left him and why Aaliyan gets angry when someone mentions her, these are all questions that I am really curious about.

aalyan 5Another trait of Aaliyan which I found pretty admirable is that he never hesitates to speak up when he sees something wrong happening. He stood up to his father when he purposely changed the company’s policy to get back at Zaheer and his family for trapping his son. He also interfered during Qudsiya’s marriage when her in-laws were making demands.

The only sensible person I find in the house is Dudi who understands the whole situation perfectly. She believes that Qudsiya and her family are not after money and they consider the nikkah real, and she tried to explain this to Sultan and Aaliyan both. Aaliyan has not solved their problems by doing the nikkah; on the contrary, he has created more problems for them.

Sheheryar’s acting definitely needs improvement. His expressions are over done at times and you can notice how hard he is trying to act. Natasha’s (Sanam Chaudhry) acting was better in this episode and even her hair style was much better than last time. Sajjal Ali was simply mind blowing. Her dialogue delivery, expression everything is always spot on!

Really looking forward to the next episode!

Numm Episode 10 – The Way To A Man’s Heart……

0

I must confess that after catching up with episode 08 and 09 earlier on today, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to tonight’s episode of Numm. Episode 08 in particular was badly conceived, poorly edited and there were some parts that were unforgivably cringe worthy. Watching Wali fall for Mahjabeen after so many years wasn’t exactly delightful, in fact I thought it was rather distasteful since I am not sure if Wali and Mahjabeen’s nikkah is actually valid and also because it was in no way the kind of sweet romance that you feel comfortable watching on screen. Add to that the most appalling flashback scene when Wali comes to Mahjabeen as a child to take refuge from the storm. Yes, this particular scene could have been interpreted in many different ways had the context been different and maybe the “romance” more subtle! Okay, enough of my rants about the previous episodes, lets talk about this one. First of all this play is not about the tradition of Vanni at all, no it is not about love and relationships either but its actual focus seems to be  ghardaari and how important it is for a woman to know how to run the house. I find the over emphasis on whether the nashta is being served on time or not, how well Mahjabeen is running the house and who hires and fires the servants rather off-putting.

The play is also about much more than the people we see in it; Mahjabeen’s pin is an entity in its own right, the floral tea set seems to be a vital part of the entire story and not to mention Mahjabeen’s hair! I really feel like the director is over emphasizing a few “things” which didn’t require that much attention. The pin keeps on moving from one place to another and the it is upto the viewers to make out what the “travelling pin” is signifying. Okay, sometimes you are in the mood to guess and ponder upon things but many other times you just want some thought provoking but at the same time light hearted entertainment.

numm7

Why could’t Neelam ask her mother the “weekly menu” before stepping out of the house? Neelam’s mother tells her to pay more attention the house but when she calls her she suggests that Neelam shouldn’t bother and let Mahjabeen take care of things! Neelam tried every trick in the book to win Wali over but it was quite apparent that Wali had Mahjabeen in his mind all the time. Neelam’s attempts to take over the house could actually have been innocent and cute if Kanza Wyne’s acting wasn’t over the top like always. The only time I couldn’t help but chuckle was when Neelam took out the burnt steak from the oven and asked Salima to taste it! Wali is stuck between two women who are completely opposite to each other; he has a long history with one and the other one just entered his life. Does that make an intriguing storyline? Well, maybe if the play was well directed and extremely well acted out but for now the direction and some of the performances have been very average.

Qasim’s relation with Mahjabeen is still a mystery. I was a little surprised to hear Mahjabeen saying to him “tum hamari majburi samjho”. What did she mean by hamari? Who else was she referring to? Qasim asks Mahjabeen to tell Wali about him but the viewer’s were given the impression in one of the previous episodes that Wali already knew who he was since he didn’t question Mahjabeen about him when she kept on asking for Qasim when she was sick.

Numm’s story definitely has an air of mystery about it but is it intriguing? Well, personally I don’t find it intriguing any more particularly because of the flawed direction, stagnant story and unimpressive editing. Also, this play should not have been sold as a play that focused on a social issue , “based on the unwise ritual of Vani” because there is very little of that in it. Fawad Khan has played the lover boy a million times; the guy who is stuck between two women. It is about time that he did something different.

Young Pakistani actress Neelum Munir is trying really hard to give a power boost to her career which seems to have stuck somewhere. Just after giving some back2back amazing hits like Qaid-e-Tanhai, JalPari and Meri Behan Maya, Neelum’s acting career is found nowhere these days and the actress is found doing some shoots for magazines and brands. Though her role in a new drama’ Kyun Hai Tu’ seemed to be an interesting project, the channel’s ranking somehow affected the overall image of the story.

Mere Humrahi Episode 11 – Haaniyah’s Realisation!

0

Wow! I was really surprised at the pace of the show this week. So much happened in a single episode! Ahmed and Haaniyah fought, made up and starting leading a normal life and all of this was shown in one episode. That’s quite a feat alright, considering the pace of the show in the past. I am not complaining though!

photo 4(3)“Kiun Mujhe Ap Khush Karne Ki Koshish Karrahe Hai, Akhir Kiya Rista Hai Humare Beech Mein Siwaye Jhoot Aur Dekhawe Ke”

My heart went out for Ahmed when Haaniyah lashed out at him with such cruel words. The poor guy was trying so hard to make her happy, and just when he thought she was warming up to him; she revealed her true feelings about their relationship. Ahmed got hurt at her cruel words and we FINALLY saw an angry Ahmed. I was wondering where he gets so much patience from, but it was finally proved that he was a normal human being who has his limits. Ahmed’s so called batameezi did not make any sense to me he just took the clip out of her hair, that’s all. What is so wrong in that?

Ahmed should have given Haaniyah a reality check a long time before, and I was really glad that he finally burst her bubble. Then of course came the best part of the episode; this time Haaniyah was running after Ahmed and not the other way around. Haaniyah’s continuous attempts to say sorry and Ahmed’s cold response were definitely a treat to watch. Ahmed is a practical man, he was not showing his male ego; he had just given up on Haaniyah and their relationship because her words reflected what was in her heart. Ahmed bared his heart in front of Haaniyah and all he got was a cold response from her.

photo 2(1)‘Aj Apne Poora Din Mujhse Baat Nahi Ki, Meri Taraf Dekha Bhi Nahi, Pata Hai Mujhe Kitni Taqleef Horahi Hai’

This dialogue had me rolling my eyes. What does Haaniyah really want from Ahmed? When he pays her attention, she does not like it and when he doesn’t, she complains. She is not satisfied in either case! All Ahmed wants is to lead a normal life with Haaniyah, and I am really glad Haaniyah finally understood this and came to her senses.

photo 3(1)The scene where Haaniyah breaks down in front of Ahmed and apologized was beautifully enacted by both the actors. For once, Soniya did not over act, which she tends to do a lot. And the best dialogue was when she told Ahmed ‘Ahad apki paon ki dhool ke barabar bhi nahi hai’. She made the decision to keep the past behind her and start afresh with Ahmed, and Ahmed was really happy and relieved to hear this.

photo 5(3)Haaniyah and Ahmed’s random conversations and outings were simple adorable, and I had a huge grin on my face during all their scenes after the patch up! Ahmed keeping flowers on the bed, Haaniyah crying after the movie and their discussions on silly topics made me feel like I am seeing two teenagers in love for the first time. Phew! It took 11 episodes for them to fall in love. That was one long ride!

photo 1(6)For the first time, I enjoyed watching Ahad’s scene, and did not flip the channel like I usually do. He shared his feelings about the situation with his mother, and now that he has had the staggering realization about what he had done, he is unable to come to terms with the situation. He completely broke down in front of his mother, and well, I can’t say I feel any sympathy for him.

Samina’s demand to Ahsan was the biggest joke ever in my view! I wonder if Ahsan gives in to her demand then how he will deal with two kids in the house. The sudden thought about a child came when she heard that Afshah is expecting. Ahsan’s reaction was predictable; he wanted their relationship to strengthen first before they thought about this.

The show has gotten really interesting and we can expect a faster pace in the future. *fingers crossed*

I would love to hear your opinion about the episode!

Questions from Current Dramas which spin your head

0

Our drama industry is our pride and source of entertainment of millions of families across the country who religiously sit in front of their TV screens at 8pm to watch their favourite dramas and drama actors. These dramas have a huge following thus impacting our society in so many different ways. The drama makers should, therefore,be very careful about what they project especially since we live in an Internet age where you can longer take the audience for granted. However, many of the current dramas on air have left us with questions in which makes us audiences gape at them in wonder and think that why didn’t the long list of people associated with the drama thought about these questions.

1- In Rishtay Kuch Adhooray Se inspired by Indian Soap Susral Simar Ka,we are shown that elder sister Gaiti is to be wedded off to Arsal. However, the Nikah is planned in emergency and since Gaiti is not at home, her younger sister Kiran dresses up as a bride and when the Nikah Khawan comes to seek Gaiti’s consent for Nikah with Arsal, Kiran merely nods her head and lo and behold the two are declared husband and wife.So what we get is that calling off the name is not important, when asked for consent to marry, any girl present at the Nikah ceremony can nod her head and become the wife of the guy.He can have multiple wives that way, what fun and what convenience! Perfect chance for those who are in love with someone who’s marrying someone else. Now no one can stop you from becoming his wife.

rkas

2- I was naive enough to think that in cases of rape medical examination of both male and female is necessary to prove that rape has been done and that too by the suspected male. Thanks to Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaeen Hai my confusion is clear now.I understand now that physical examination and DNA of male are mere accessories which don’t even merit attention.Even without physical examination,a report could be prepared and anyone could be accused of rape and wait that’s not all.In such circumstances, your self-righteous family including your father whose fake beard oscillates like a pendulum would be perfectly ready to accept you as culprit and would keep on hating you for that also. What a service to criminal and justice this play has done. You listening people and judicial authorities! As an after thought why not to rename this play as ‘Mujhe Common Sense Pe Yaqeen Naheen Hai’.

mkpyh

3- While Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai puts criminal science to shame,Aseer Zadi does the same with Biological Science. In the peer house hold ran by Bari Sarkar Sania Saeed, each Peer marries thrice. The first two wives are nothing more than accessories who do not bear any children to the Peer Sahab and not third wife is the real wife who also becomes the mother of Peer Sahab’s children. Can we know the exact science and methodology adopting which the first two wives are made infertile. If it’s magic or black magic, then I would also like to go to that Aamil Baba.If it’s science, then we have advanced so much in science that we can boast to the west that now Science Books would be easily written by our Drama Writers what to talk of researchers or PHDs.

az1

4- How can I forget another master piece Numm which was to showcase the abhorring practice of Vani and its impact on the lives of the concerned but has since been turned into Fawad Khan sandwiched between two women,ah that’s a novelty, isn’t it people! So this novel show depicts Wali who could not have been more than 10 years old at most being married to Mahjabeen as Mahjabeen’s family murdered Wali’s father and uncle over an ‘honour dispute’ (read Mahjabeen’s relationship with Wali’s uncle). But according to our religion,a child can be wedded only once he/she is of sound judgement. Is a kid of 10 of sound judgement? How could this marriage be legal then?Doesn’t the very base of this drama then fall out and what joy!We would have been spared Kanza Wyne’s screams week after week and women who sigh and watch this drama just to look at Fawad again could have gone and bathed their babies which they were delaying for whole week as they were busy in catching Fawad in drama repeats.

Ali Rehman Khan – Arsal of Rishtey Kuch Adhoray Sey

Ali Rehman Khan is a new addition to our television screens, he is playing lead role of Arsal in ‘Rishtey Kucch Adhoray Sey’ on HUM TV. While Ali may be a new name and face for television audience, he is not new to acting. Ali belongs from Islamabad, and has graduated from University of London, UK. By profession Ali works as Project Manager at International Organization of Migration in Islamabad.

Ali started acting from theater in Islamabad and then he acted in films. His first movie Slackistan created much hype in media as it was denied censor certificate by Central Board of Film Censor (CBFS) in 2011, and eventually the film was not released in cinemas. Slackistan was produced by Islamabad based actors, cast of slackistan also includes Shahahbaz Hamid Shigri, Aisha Linnea Akhtar,Shahana Khan Khalil, Osman Khalid Butt, Khalid Saeed and Rafey Alam. The film was denied censor certificate as producer of the film refused to make cuts as requested by CBFS. The CBFS objected to strong language of film and ultimately film failed to receive a censor certificate.

Indian Media Criticized Pakistani Movie WAAR! Video leaked

0

The most anticipated movie in the history of Pakistan, as the line goes, is enjoying a record breaking appreciation by the viewers who have fallen in love with the plot and picturization of the movie Waar. The story of this action movie revolves around the historical rivalry between the two neighboring countries,  India and Pakistan. This is not for the first time that a movie based on the said ideology has made its way to the cinema houses because Indian directors have always utilized the package of combined hatred for Muslims as a source of earning a better rank on the chartbusters  However, their weapon has been used against them this time, thanks to the young Pakistani director Bilal Lashari, who has done a brilliant job after investing three good years in the making.

dfd

While all the muslim countries are finding the movie  Waar, something really worth praising, It is Indian media which has again shown it mockery by blaming Pakistan for accusing India for all the terrorist attacks within their country in the film. The channel completely presented the picture the other way round, promoting the idea that Pakistan and the Pakistanis hate Indians to a level which has crossed all limits, though, this is really not the case.

See Video here

It is really diplomatic of the neighbouring media that at one end it propagates the agenda  under the slogan of ‘Aman Ki Asha’ while on the other end it is actually exploiting a movie which no way promotes the idea of Pakistani hatred towards India.

Kankar Episode 20 – Bittersweet Memories

0

Tonight’s episode was very well put together; the one thing that particularly stands out about this play is the manner in which the leading characters in particular have been etched out. Sikandar and Kiran both come across as people from real life because neither is Kiran holier-than-thou and nor is Sikandar a completely evil person. It is plain to see that Sikandar is controlling and he needs professional help by way of which he can see where he is going wrong and correct himself. He was never ready for the divorce in the first place and even now after the divorce with Kiran and marriage with Arzoo, he has been unable to move on. There is such a thing as closure and people like Sikandar need it more than others. Not being in control of a situation is something alien to Sikandar, therefore he has no idea how to deal with the situation. Fahad Mustafa has completely bowled me over with his superb acting. There was a time when I thought that he wasn’t well-suited for this role but I was so wrong.

kankar 3

Kiran may have mustered up the courage to find her way out of a marriage that was bound to destroy her life but she is not brave enough to face the repercussions of her decision. This aspect of her personality makes her character very relatable – she is not super human in any way. Sanam Baloch’s performance in tonight’s episode was yet again impeccable. She portrayed every single emotion flawlessly; Kiran’s fears, disillusionment, misery and sudden lack of confidence could not have been depicted more immaculately.

kankar2

I expected Arzoo to have a little more self-respect than what we saw in tonight’s episode. Arzoo really will put up with anything to ensure that Sikandar stays in her life. Even the news of Arzoo’s pregnancy did not change anything between the two.

Rukhsar’s mother’s conversation with Ayesha was rather ironic considering how opinionated her own daughter is. Her double standards did not come as a surprise at all since having a different set of standards for your own children is a norm in our society. Most of the people whether they are family or friends tend to add to the troubles of the family which is already going through a difficult time rather than lending a helping hand or giving them emotional support.

kankar6

Adnan and Kiran’s conversations had to be the highlight of tonight’s episode at least for me. Adnan’s character is simply adorable and Hassan Niazi was the perfect choice for playing this character. Adnan is the only person with whom Kiran slightly opens up, she deserves to be with someone like him.

The preview of the next episode suggested that Adnan will finally share his true feelings with Kiran. I am waiting to find out how Kiran will react when she finds out that Adnan has always loved her. Some of the dialogues in tonight’s episode sounded very repetitive like “mian biwi ke darmiyan buhat kuch hota hai lekin talaq maslay ka hal nahi hota!”. The way Shaista kept on mentioning Kiran unintentionally was a little strange since she was the one who was most eager to get Kiran out of Sikandar’s life. This episode was on the slow side but it covered everything that needed to be shown. It is definitely time to move on and at this point it is very difficult to predict where the story will go from here. The preview of the next episode showed that Arzoo has a soft corner for Kiran out of the blue, what could possibly be the reason for that? Could it be Sikandar’s cold behavior or something else?

kankar1

The flashback scenes were brilliantly done; they conveyed the feelings and thoughts of Kiran and Sikandar very well. The credit for that obviously goes to the director, I really appreciate all the effort that Aabis Raza has put in to directing this play. My favorite flashback scene was the one in which Kiran is counting her money and thinking of how different things used to be when she was with Sikandar. It showed the bittersweet memories that relationships leave you with and no matter how bitter a relationship may have been it is not easy to forget everything and move on.

Khoya Khoya Chaand – The Winds of Change

0

Finally, we are coming across few developments in the storyline. Ahmereen refused to go with Farooq due to sheer patriotism filled to the fullest in her. Farooq doesn’t want to compel Ahmereen to go to Japan with him without having mutual consent with her and for that he asked her to meet him. As soon as she saw Farooq, she started yelling at her and without allowing Farooq to utter a single word, she announced her final decision that she, herself, isn’t ready to get married to him.

Then comes Farooq and Beena’s discussion where they made everything crystal clear for us to understand and for Aarib too as he listened everything ,of course aimlessly, when he was about to enter Beena’s house.

Aarib is one of his own kinds who can apply rule of “Forgive-and-Forget” to anyone who curses him and leave him in a situation difficult to handle. Being an eastern husband, his reaction to the situation which he faced was commendable. Instead of squabbling, he convinced himself to stay calm and quiet. and for that when Beena asked him to stay and don’t go away, he stopped promptly.

Beena’s uneasiness and Farooq’s concern for Aarib and Beena’s marital life was clearly illustrating that they are expecting the unexpected from Aarib.  It was Aarib’s greatness that he was sitting and listening Beena when she went along with Aarib. Else, men of our society are very reluctant to talk about such matters once they come to know that there wife is/was having affair with her own cousin.

To untangle the matter, Farooq decided to meet Aarib and when they met I was surprised to hear Aarib’s point of view. He was still concerned and had no question on Beena’s character. He was better understanding the situation maybe because he went through same phase in his recent past and still trying to get out of mental trauma in which Ahmereen left him.

Beena’s parents are still confused that what made Beena to go with Aarib without even bothering her to tell them that she is leaving. Beena made it clear to her parents that she is happy and there isnot anything going between her and Aarib the way they are thinking.

Lucky Beena felt proud to have such and understanding husband. Undoubtedly,  Beena was luckiest of lucky and blessed one that she got Aarib as his husband because he not only accepted her open-heartedly but also made her comfortable by saying that he won’t tell anyone about this matter.

Things started to settle down between Beena and Aarib. Aarib cares for Beena and Beena is now valuing every large heart giving that he is immolating and showering on her.

Preview of next episode has forecasted the turning point of this show. I never expected this show to head in totally different direction. While giving birth or after giving birth to her child, Beena will die. And as my instinct says, Aarib and Ahmereen will get married. Let’s see whether my prediction will live up to the mark or not.

Aseer Zaadi Episode 10 – Misunderstanding Cleared!

0

This show is very unpredictable; one can never guess what will happen next! One twist follows the other and keeps the viewers intrigued. Each and every member of the cast gives a power packed performance which keeps us glued to the screens. Sania Saeed’s mind blowing expressions give me goose bumps at times!

The misunderstanding created by Fatima and Badi Sarkar finally got cleared in this episode. My opinion about Peer Jalal is changing by each passing episode; he sure is a wise man who knows how to judge people really well. Peer Jalal was able to judge Maira with their very first interaction, and he was also able to observe that Maira loves Shahab more than Fatima and Yasmeen. He was also disappointed with Shahab that he had not heard Maira’s side, and judged her on Badi Sarkar’s words.

I would have admired Peer Jalal’s character if he also treated his other two wives with respect and gave them all their rights. If we think of it, the men of the family are misguided by the old tradition that has been running in the family from one generation to another. The tradition only gives respect to the third and true wife who will be the mother of the waris. An illogical theory, but it is followed blindly by the whole family because it has been proven true for many generations. The reason why educated men like Peer Jalal and Peer Shahab never question this tradition is because the past generations are the proof of it.

I really was not expecting Maira to forgive Shahab so easily, but she forgave him in mere seconds and started teasing him playfully. A lovely scene in my opinion! Maira did not even want Shahab’s apology and let the matter go by clearly informing him that ‘ab hum iss topic per baat nahi karenge’. She was happy that Shahab had finally believed her and after this misunderstanding, their relationship further strengthened.

It was a shock for Badi Sarkar when she saw both of them happy together which meant that her plan had failed. She tried to create misunderstandings again by targeting Shahab’s ego, but this time Shahab was not going to believe a word coming out of her mouth.

‘Woh Aisi Nahi Jaisa Usse Samjha Jaraha Hai’

Badi Sarkar was shocked by Shahab’s conviction that Maira is innocent. She was clearly worried about the growing fondness between them and this is the reason why she agreed to send Maira to her house so easily. She gave permission to Maira to go to her house for a few days, and I have a strong feeling she is brewing up a plan in her head.

Amna’s misunderstanding would cause havoc in everyone’s life for sure. She promised to Naseemi that she would remain quite about the matter, but spilled the beans in front of Yasmeen. Yasmeen will now use this to create doubts in Shahab’s mind. I doubt Shahab will believe any of this, but Badi Sarkar definitely will! The preview for the next episode seems pretty scary to me. *fingers crossed*

Bilal is guilty for creating problems in Maira’s life and the surprising part is that he is still pinning for her and is even ready to accept her if Shahab leaves her. I do not know what role Bilal will play further in the story, but I have a feeling he still has a significant role left to play in Maira’s life.

Fatima is going to get married to Shahab soon and I hope Maira is able to break the tradition before that!

Aunn Zara – Episode 18.

0

Ohkay, that was ONE sweet episode that I was waiting for since ages. Even though the flashbacks – as a filler, were shown for quite some time but I didn’t regret watching them as a re-cap & especially when they had a lot of Daadi’s Theth Punjabi. It looked like a journey that we’ve spent with Aunn Zara & was a reminder of those amazing moments we’ve experienced.

Finally & finally, Jamshed Sahab has decided to break the ice. Well, I actually never knew that he was a stammerer or may be & like always, it was his hesitation that hindered his words from going out to Mohtarmma. I absolutely adore Jamshed for fending for his mistakes whenever he commits some. Now he can not deny the fact that he has fallen for Mohtarmma but he’s too occupied by worrying about Zara that he is just letting the appropriate opportunities pass.

I am just so glad that Zara got hold of the situation & like I expected our typical Zara to react, she thinks it’s more than necessary to make him realize his mistakes & for that she’s ready to pull her sword out of the scabbard. Accha, all this while, watching Aunn Zara, I never sided with either one of them, I found Zara rational where she was so I raised my opinion that way & when I found Aunn irrational which obviously he was, I stated that too, but this time, on an official note, I’m with Zara on her ‘Project-Aunn-Pays-The-Price’.

I loved how Nighat has gotten involved in the whole scenario & heard what Shehna had to say. This is what I have always enjoyed about Aunn Zara that misunderstandings or clarifications establish without either of the party being aware about it. Nighat just sough the mood of taunting Zara for her flee with Aunn but that proved to be an eye-opener for Zara herself. Hina Bayat has acted out Husna at her best but this time her curiosity came through so relate-able. The way she questioned Nighat about Aunn’s home sweet home, she made it look like k har MA aik jaisi hoti hai. She was just so honest about her longing to know more about how her ladla was doing but yet she didn’t want to make an eye contact with a fear of her feelings being revealed. Such minute expressions which definitely spoke volumes & for that, Star of the episode crown is for Husna. :)

Daadi & her caterwauling was adorable obviously. She still wants Aunn’s attention but even when she was getting some, she used that prime time in taunting him about Zara Jee. Loved her wawela & the way she told him to shoo away, as if even a sight of his was unbearable for Daadi. Husna’s instincts are right about some glad tiding coming to her way, being a Daadi-to-be, her heart has already sent messages to her but in this time of distress she is keeping her hopes low.

Zara has taken perfect measures to make Aunn realize the garbage he has spread & now some exfoliating is necessary. Aunn’s thought of Boot-Camp by Jamshed was enough of a shiver in his spine & a laughter package for us & so for that I’m hoping he blurts it out right away at what he has instigated himself. I want Zara to torture him verbally a bit more & tell him to make some more Omlettes & Chai’s, which may compel him to run back to AMMMIIIIIIIIIIIII, lol.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

ps; I’ve never loved the song ‘latthay di chaadar’ as much, but Aunn Zara’s happy-mood soundtrack made me love it a bit more too, so I want to hear it once again & for that I hope the happiness comes back to the Punjabi Family ASAP! ;)

Sannata – Episode 4 Review

0

For all those who dont know about this serial, Let me give you a brief introduction of it. Plot of show revolves around Rukayya(Saba Kamar) and her life. Rukayya’s aunt Husna(Sajal Ali) went against her family and ran away with a man. Husna’s father and brother died as a consequence of this incident. After that Aapa Bi (Sameena Ahmed ) gave Husna a title of “Daayan”.

Husna died on spot while giving birth to her daughter and Rukayya was the one who raised her daughter after her death. She named cute little angel as “Pari”. Time flew away and Pari grew up.Everytime aapa bi scold her,Rukayya was there to fight for Pari and to console her. Because of that, Pari considered Rukayya’s everything as her own property and got really possessive about her. All she wants is to become a shadow of Rukayya.

I want to add up here that child artist who is performing role of Pari is doing complete justice with her role. She is such a young and cute girl and giving unbelievable and unexpected output. Our artists (not all of them, ofcourse :P ) should take some acting classes from her.

Ashfaq ,being brother of Aapa Bi handles all the financial matters of their house. Aapa Bi didnot tell him that husna came back and died after giving birth to Pari.Rukayya and Pari met Ashfaq.  I can smell something fishy in Ashfaq character.Today was the first time when we came across Ashfaq’s role in serial,he visited Aapa Bi’s place after long time just to get the papers of house in which Aapa Bi is living with rest of ladies.

Pari grew up and her role is given to Sajal Ali again. Her entrance was beyond my expectation. With the passage of time, her hatred for aapa bi developed more and she was about to burn Aapa Bi but Rukayaa caught her on the spot. After that,Rukayya slapped her and it was for sure unexpected for Pari  and she got fits soon after that. Salma considered that its due to some supernatural power, Naseeban doesnt believe in that whereas Aapa Bi curses that tree under the shadow of which Pari spends her whole day.

Now coming towards the part where Naseeban,Rukayya and Pari visited Tomb of some famous religious personality. I really liked that part in today’s episode. The background score was truly magical and it was complimenting overall atmosphere created for that scene. Pari came across a strange man, looking much like Fakeer Baba, who keep on following her till she was in Tomb. Mystery man’s mystery is still a question mark. It may be revealed in upcoming episodes.

For the first time in television industry, I have come across a different approach to unfold the story. I really like how Saba Kamar, wearing plain white frock, is narrating whole story of her life throughout the show.

Without any doubt, this show is one of its own kind.Viewers have high expectations from this serial. Let’s see whether this serial will live up to our expectations or not.

Do give your feedback about today’s episode.

“The Honour Deception” awarded Best Documentary in Delhi Films Festival.

0

Our Drama Industry completely failed to satisfy its viewers in terms of great story lines but Pakistani Film Industry is seemed to be flourishing this fall.

Sharmeen Obaid’s Saving Face has been awarded two Emmy Awards at 34th Annual News and Documentary Ammy Awards Ceremony. This documentary won awards for Best Documentary and Outstanding Editing, Zinda Bhaag is another investment that got submitted from Pakistan in Oscars after 50 years, Waar broke all Box Office Records and if it is not enough, Ayesha Gazdar’s short documentary “The Honor deception” won the Jury award for Best Documentary at Second Delhi Shorts International Films Festival.

621370-HonourDeception-1382532367-719-640x480

She earlier told The Express Tribune, “I feel honoured that this film is being screened, amongst a host of others.”

The Honor Deception was screened at Delhi Film Festival on October 12th,2013 where 80 films (feature and documentary) were showcased from countries around the world including, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Belgium, New Zealand and India.

The Honor Deception is 16 minutes documentary that has been made in collaboration with Action Aid Pakistan. Documentary is about the tribal customs of honor killing and how it got re-demolished in our Modern lives through law of Qisas and Diyat (retribution and Blood Money) that allows the family of a victim to make a strong compromise with the one accused. As majority of marriages in rural areas of Pakistan take place within extended family, so these laws are a fine way to escape. This documentary also put a light on how can we made an effort to put a full stop to this practice.

Ayesha’s previous file “Silent Voices” was based on women who work from home. That movie also won an award at the Canadian Labor International Film Festival in 2011.

For all those who dont know Aisha’s background, Let me tell you that her father, (Late) Mushtaq Gazdar, was an eminent documentary film maker. Her mother, Saeeda Gazdar is well know short story writer.

I expect and hope that our Media Industries will flourish in heaps and bounds.

Stay Blessed,
Rabia Basharat.

Ten Reasons you should go and watch Waar

0

For those who pooh pooh at Pakistani Cinema,Waar comes as a shock. Why shock, because Pakistan can produce such a high quality movie which leaves them stunned.I have personally watched this movie and would recommend it to everyone and I am one who has rarely sauntered into a cinema hall.So take my recommendation and do watch this movie in a cinema hall nearest you. Here’s why

1- The theme of the movie is terrorism which hits a chord with all of us,we are a witness to many of the visuals shown in the movie including 2009 attack on Lahore Police Academy. It would be akin to reliving experiences of everyday life. It’s neither a fantasy nor a tale you could dismiss as ‘where does it happen’.

waar5

2- It is a very stylish movie, crane shots, aerial shots, close ups you name and they have it all there. From grand mansions to ultra luxurious apartments to the fort in Northern Pakistan everything and every moment is covered in style.Even though the film is in 2D and not 3D,you would definitely enjoy the shots taking.I can guarantee you that it’s something which you haven’t seen in a Pakistani Movie before.

3- The movie showcases Islamabad in a never before avatar. From Monal to basement of Margalla Towers to Gun Club to Convention Center you have it all right here.Get ready to fall in love in Islamabad all over again and for those of you who have never been to the city, watch it in a glamourous avatar.

waar4

4- Shan is synonymous with lacha-kurtas and gujar brand movies. This is your chance to watch him in stylish denims puffing cigarettes and speaking English which would put many to shame.Although his backstory is cliched, yet Shan plays his character with such aplomb that you remain mesmerized even when the end credits have rolled down.Watch Waar for this powerhouse of talent if not anything else.

5- The villians duo Meesha Shafi-Shamoon Abbasi put in equally powerful and convincing performances. They appear sinister and evil to the core yet smart in their own right.

6- The much talked about ‘fake accents’ of actors in the movie. You need to watch it to check out whose accent was fake.I personally found no fake accents. The actors got schooling in institutions where such accents are common plus Ayesha Khan grew up abroad,so you cannot blame actors for ‘fake accents’ still you can confirm on your own.

waar

7- The loads and loads of criticism heaped on the movie including from local sources (Geo,Express Tribune,Jang,The News etc) and foreign sources (hindustan times, other Indian newspapers, channels etc).If a movie generates so much hype, there would be something about it that is upsetting so many people. What made so-called liberals led by Hamid Mir,Nadeem Farooq Paracha,Rafay Mahmood,Zarar Khoro etc (who munch on all anti-Pakistan movies willingly and joyously) declare this a propaganda movie funded by ISPR.As if it is the only propaganda movie ever made and as if they have proofs that ISPR sponsored it.Give them anything anti-Pakistan they would love it,anything Pro-Pakistan they would rise up.Plus why is a single movie from Pakistan giving sleepless nights to Indian media and public so much so that they are spitting venom against it.

waar1

8- The film has been rated 8.3 on popular movies website IMDB.So it needs to be a good movie if it has gotten such a rating at IMDB.This is also a slap on the faces of those who are criticizing it for no reason.

9- It arises in you a patriotic spirit like never before specially in the scene when Hamza Abbasi goes to give a sacrifice and chants the national anthem or when he says ‘un ka khayal hai ke yeh mulk la-waris hai’ besides many other scenes. It also makes you realize the sacrifices your security forces have given in this long war on terror.

10- Get to see MI-17s,Cobras,other real ammunition used by security forces and terrorists. The authenticity would stun you plus the action scenes have been supervised by real police and military highups so it’s authenticity galore.

Kadurat Episode 14 – Mission Accomplished!

0

The story of the play is progressing along the same pattern which it has following since the beginning. When one issue moves towards resolution, another one surfaces. It was all good fun for a bit but now it seems like the writer took the viewers for granted and thought that a few shocking twists and turns after few episodes will keep the viewers hooked. Mahmood shares his concerns and all that transpired with Asad in tonight’s episode and when he did so once again I could not help but wonder how this man made it as far as he did! The entire Mahmood/Shaheen marriage track was badly conceived; that is mainly the reason why many people have been put off by the show.  Mahmood’s character always came across as simple but after the incident my opinion about his character has completely changed. He has gone from being simple to just plain brainless.

k6

This time around the misunderstanding between Alina and Daniyal was much more convincing unlike the last time when I found it hard to believe that Alina could fall for Mina’s trap. No doubt Alina had warned Daniyal about Mina’s intentions time and again but the fact remains that Daniyal has never experienced Mina’s scheming ways first hand. Not to mention the fact that all the men in the play seem quite dim-witted except for Asad so it is no surprise that Daniyal believed Mina.

k1

Shaheen and her cousin seem to be brewing up a storm. The looks that they shared in the restaurant showed that they may just be taking Mina for a ride as well. Will Mina have a family left to turn to once Shaheen turns her back on her or will she be left alone? Mina’s character has lost all my sympathy for obvious reasons and the story has come to a point where I am completely detached from Mina’s feelings. This of course shows the failure of the writer to develop a seemingly good character in a decent way. The writer could have taken the story further on the same track without resorting to extreme measures and at the same time Mina could have remained the scared, vulnerable and insecure girl she was in the beginning.

k3

Once again I couldn’t help but watch a few scenes from Darmiyan while changing channels during the commercial break and I have to say that I am slightly scared that this trend of young girls pursuing silly goals may be followed by other writers as well. I really hope though that it stops right here with these two plays. What is happening in both the plays is definitely not being appreciated so if the writers have any consideration for the sentiments of the viewers, they will not go down this path again.

Last year we had phenomenal plays like Durr-e-Shehwar and Hamsafar and definitely the hope that our drama industry is headed towards the right direction but this year there has hardly been a play that truly stood out. There were a few dramas this year as well which kept us looking forward to more but was there a play that remained exceptional throughout? I don’t think so. Here is to hoping that we get to see more quality dramas in the future since we have tons of talented actors, writers, producers and directors.

Adhoori Aurat Review – Last Episode!

0

The whole journey of this show has been wonderful, and it was always a pleasure to review it, though the show did get a bit depressing at times. It had a serious of tragedies occurring one after the other which kept the viewer hooked and rooted to their seats. Though the story was clichéd, the execution was simply brilliant! The credit goes to the whole team of course!

The end was not as satisfying as I had expected. Zayaan did have his share of suffering and regret in the form of Faiza and his abnormal son. I had assumed Zayaan and Faiza did not have any child but it was revealed in this episode that they had a son who turned out to be abnormal. ‘meri galtiyon ki saza meri aulad ko mil rahi hai’ Zayaan confessed this to Ashiya with a lot of regret over his past deeds. I was expecting to see Nusrat and Afshah regretting their behavior towards Maryam, but nothing like this happened though they suffered their own share of miseries. The sad part was that Zayaan was still being selfish in Ashiya’s case. He proudly declared that he has the right to meet his daughter in front of Maryam.

photo 3(3)Jab Farz Ada Karna Ka Waqt Tha To Tum Kaha Thay’

This is what Maryam replied when he was declared his right on Ashiya. Maryam was hurt the most when Ashiya took Zayaan’s side when she had so proudly informed Zayaan that her daughter has no interest in meeting him. If only she had told the truth before than none of this would be happening in the first place! When Maryam finally tried to tell everything about her past to Ashiya, it was just too late as Ashiya was already brainwashed by Afshah. Ashiya would have never gotten to know the truth if Faiza had not told her everything in anger.

photo 1(4)Maryam was in constant fear that Ashiya would leave her and go to her father. She knew that she could never give her the life that Zayaan could with his money. She kept on praying for Ashiya to return to her, and her prayer was finally answered when Ashiya came out of the delusion about her father and got to know his true face.

‘Mein Apko Kabhi Chor Ker Nahi Jaongi’

photo 5(2)The mother daughter scene was extremely heartwarming when Ashiya comes crying to Maryam after getting to know the truth. Maryam was finally relieved and happy to see that Ashiya had come back to her. It was really hard for Maryam to give permission to Ashiya to meet Zayaan in the first place and even harder to live in the constant fear that Zayaan will take away her most prized possession.

photo 1(5)Faiza’s life may seem perfect from outside but she got her punishment in the form of her abnormal child. She had ruled Zayaan throughout the years, but Zayaan finally stood up to her for her daughter. The slap was rightfully deserved; not because she told Ashiya the truth, but because it was about time Zayaan stood up to her instead of being a puppet in her hands. Maheen Rizvi was the best choice for Faiza as she had beautifully portrayed her character throughout the show. All her scenes in the last episode were bang on! From her expressions to the dialogue delivery, everything was perfect!

I was looking forward to Zayaan’s apology to Maryam and I must say, it was beautifully directed and enacted by both the actors. Zayaan surprised Maryam by his apology who never expected someone like Zayaan to bow down in front of anyone. He admitted all his mistakes and what a huge blunder he had made by rejecting the most precious gift in his life in the form of her. His apology could never be enough for he had done, but Maryam truly had a big heart to forgive him.

‘Meine Tumhe Maaf Kiya, Apni Beti Ke Liyeah Tumhe Maaf Kiya’

photo 4(2)

The dialogues in this scene were simply beautiful. Faysal Qureshi’s superb dialogue delivery and Ayeza Khan’s expressions made the scene even better! But I really wish Ashiya had not kept ties with Zayaan; he did not deserve to have Ashiya in his life.

photo 2(4)The credit of the whole show goes firstly to its director who brought out the raw emotions in every scene, and made sure every actor gave their best. Secondly, a huge round of applause for the three main leads; Ayeza Khan, Faysal Qureshi and Maheen Rizvi who gave their 100% in this show. And lastly, I would like to mention that the OST and background music of this show was used perfectly and added another dimension to every scene. Even the camera work was brilliant! The angles captured were beautifully shot. The show might not have gathered good ratings in the beginning, but it definitely attracted viewers towards the end!

How did you guys find the last episode? Did the ending seem satisfactory?

Shak – Episode 1 Review

0

Ohkay, now I was totally unaware of this serial. I even never came across any of its promos except that count down on ARY when it was about to start. At that time,  I have no plan or mind of watching it and reviewing it. Then two days ago, I came across its first episode while searching for Framosh (Turkish movie aired on Urdu one) at dramasonline. I didnot find that movie but I found this serial. Aimlessly, I clicked on its link and started watching it.

1     Right from its first scene, I found this serial really engaging. Sehrish (Aisha Khan) is a completely eastern packaged house wife who adores her husband, enjoys cooking for her husband and  loves to spend time with him. This time it was their wedding anniversary for which she was preparing some special meal and baking cake for her husband Ehteshaam aka Shaam (Adeel Hussain), who asked her that he won’t be coming to home early as he has a lot of work to do in office. And right after that,he left his office and went to a girl’s house.

At first glance, I thought he is betraying his wife as they really made us believe that. And I must appreciate direction skills of Yasir Nawaz at this point because he portrayed it so perfectly that there was not a glimpse of doubt on believing that Shaam is actually having an extra-marital affair with his office colleague, Sheena.

Shaam’s friend and his wife, Maham, are among those people of our society who love to gossip and believe on every second hand information that they get every time about anyone in their lives.

2

And then came the moment when we came to know that Shaam went to get his wife’s gift from Sheena whose sister is a jewelry designer. Shaam and Sehrish had a wonderful time together and they celebrated their wedding anniversary , the way they wanted to celebrate it. Every moment that was captured was too nice to handle. I really like their onscreen chemistry.

3

Dark side of Shaam and Sehrish couple is that it’s been seven long years since they are married and they don’t have a kid.  Sehrish desperation to  have her own kid was shown at its peak when she met Sunny, Maham’s son, and we saw her completely reluctant to give him back to his mother while having dinner party as celebration of their wedding anniversary.

4

Sehrish asked her husband to have his complete check up and subconsciously told Maham that Shaam will visit doctor and then same silly chinese-whisper game begun.. :D .. From maham to her husband and from her husband to Shaam. Shaam got upset and didnot visit doctor. Sehrish felt sorry for what she has done and gave a strong apology to shaam.. or shaam pighal gaya.. :)

4a

Last part of the show was about Sehrish meeting a cute kid who threw his ball to Sehrish’s house while playing.  Sehrish had enough of chit chat with him and as soon as she said good bye to him, he had an accident.

5

What will happen after that ? Will Sehrish curse herself for that kid’s accident?

For all that and many more, keep on reading.

The Biggest Disappointments Of The Season

0

The promos and the cast and crew of many plays seemed very alluring and promising in this season but sadly many of the shows which I personally was looking forward to turned out to be big disappointments. Expectations from a show vary from person to person depending on personal likes and dislikes. There are some writers and directors who we expect will always deliver and then there are actors who make you look forward to a drama. There have been a number of shows which attracted my attention because of the cast and there were others which seemed very promising because of the promos. Here is a list of plays some of which had tons of potential and which I believe many viewers looked forward to but they have failed to impress at least till now. The rule is simple, the higher the expectation the greater the disappointment.

Numm

I think we all know only too well why Numm tops this list but I am going to narrate the reasons nevertheless.

Firstly, the viewers were promised that the story revolved around the tradition of Vani, which meant that the tradition and its outcomes will be highlighted in this show. To begin with everything seemed out of place because in reality only very young girls are given away as Vanni to old men – which makes perfect sense! Secondly, in the real world they are treated as slaves, physically abused and what not because of apparent reasons. It was very difficult to relate to Mahjabeen as Vanni because she just came across as the first wife who never got the love and attention of her husband and not really Vanni in the true sense.

numm1Secondly, until now viewers have been waiting to find out what actually transpired in the past. The mystery guy who was shown in one of the episodes never reappeared in flashbacks or otherwise, Amtul seems to have been missing in action although in the beginning we were made to feel like she may have a big role to play in the story or that at least we will get to see her often enough. Wali’s character is anything but likeable and Kanza Wayne is just plain annoying mostly.

Numm started off quite well – there was mystery and intrigue but now it has become another story of a man stuck between two women. The play seems to have lost its focus already and it seems like it is going to be yet another one of those plays which you watch for the sake of your favorite star, out of sheer curiosity and also in the hope that it may get better.

numm2The promos of Numm were very enticing indeed – like it was going to be a magical ride; a masterpiece but until now it has been all about unresolved mysteries coupled with bad editing and direction with a few rewarding episodes in between. The thought of looking forward to another play with Fawad Khan in it actually scares me because he has proved that he may be a brilliant actor but sadly he is quite capable of making very bad choices.

Kadurat

The promos of this show were mind blowing; Sanam Saeed’s powerful screen presence made this show a must-watch for me. The story appeared to be very novel and the cast was also very unusual. It was good to see faces which we don’t see very often on screen and that was also one of the reasons why the viewers were led to believe that this drama will deliver.

kadurat 1

Kadurat’s rapid pace, different storyline, crisp editing and of course outstanding performances kept the viewers looking forward to more but things went from bad to worse when Mina’s character’s innocence and vulnerability was completely taken over by evil alone. The character which appeared quite grey shaded and pitiable in the beginning was turned into a completely negative character and therefore the audience failed to empathize with the main protagonist. It actually leaves the viewer’s clueless and annoyed to see two young, intelligent and educated girls putting their life on stake for no apparent reason. What’s more, the fact that there is no hope for them, does not help too.

kadurat2

It has to be another one of those plays which viewers continue to watch because of Sanam Saeed in particular and also because those of us who have invested so much time into following the play till now want to find out how the story will unfold in the future.

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai

This play was being promoted especially on the FB pages for the longest time, like it was the next big thing. Ahsan Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Aysha Khan particularly are credible actors and you expect them to work in quality dramas. Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai also was quite watchable in the very beginning. Unlike many viewers who got annoyed with the “mystery” element of the play I actually looked forward to the moment when the mystery would be revealed but very soon (well a little too soon!) the dialogues became very repetitive and the story went haywire. The writer had a plot in mind but she failed to carry the story further in a convincing manner. Also, the direction of the play has been weak throughout these 11 episodes. Some of the actors seem unfit for their roles and some just look utterly bored! Ahsan Khan and Aysha Khan’s acting held my attention for some time but the characters are not very well-etched out and obviously even outstanding performances cannot possibly make up for that.

mkpyh

A drama should be a full package in order to keep the interest of the viewers intact. Good acting goes to waste if it is not supported by convincing character development and of course a compelling storyline. There are times when I feel for the actors because they have to settle for mediocre scripts perhaps because they do not have a better choice.

Darmiyan

Syra Yusef has made very intelligent choices ever since she stepped into the drama world. All her plays and the characters that she has played in them have been commendable staring from Mera Naseeb to Tanhaiyaan Naye Silsilay. Honestly speaking until I watched Darmiyan Syra Yusef’s name guaranteed a quality script and an entertaining show. Also of course, Adnan Siddiqui and Sania Saeed both are very reputable names in the industry.

The fact is that Darmiyan never appealed to me; Syra Yusef has definitely acted better in the past and she has played much better characters too. Darmiyan’s story is highly unbelievable and also most unlikeable. The direction is very mediocre as well.

darmiyan

The trend from the mazloom aurat seems to be shifting to ghazabnak young girls who are out to seek revenge. The idea may sound good on paper but that too for a three hours movie perhaps but watching these heroines stoop lower than low to achieve their objectives and enjoying themselves while they are at it, is not at all entertaining but actually pretty repulsive!

Ek Kasak Reh Gayee

Yes, I confess, I am a big fan of Sanam Saeed and I look forward to any play or telefilm which has Sanam Saeed in the cast. One of the reasons for that also is that mostly even if the dramas that Sanam Saeed works in may not deliver in terms of story, direction or production values but she always gives her best. Also, after watching Talkhiyaan, I have been hoping to see her in another serial that is equally powerful.

Ek Kasak Reh Gayee failed to meet my expectations mainly because of its slow pace, low production values and also because some of the stereotype characters that you get to see in the play make you yawn! The play has a very depressing feel to it which almost seems forced at times. Unfortunately, Mikaal Zulfiqar yet again plays the same role which he has played so many times – the man who cannot get along with his wife and is interested in another woman.

ekrg

Ek Kasak Reh Gayee is another play which focuses on a troubled marriage and is definitely full of clichés! But the thing that really puts me off is the dark and gloomy atmosphere.

Many other new plays also started in this season like Shehr-e-Yaran, Mere Hamrahi, Tar-e-Ankaboot, Rishtey Kuch Adhoorey Se, Kabhi Kabhi, Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, Sannata, Aasmanon Pe Likha, Aseer Zaadi, Khoya Khoya Chand and some more. I didn’t have high hopes attached to any of the other plays so even the weak storylines and other flaws didn’t disappoint me much. But the fact remains that there are hardly any plays on air right now which guarantee quality entertainment. The writers are compromising on the quality of scripts and even some good directors have not come up to people’s expectations. The viewers have a lot more options now than they did many years back but does quantity ensure quality? definitely not!

Were there any shows in this season which you truly looked forward to but they failed o impress you when they went on air? Do share your list with us.

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Episode 11

Ohkay just when I thought that the drama has gotten rational in terms of direction, the director proved me wrong & by all means I admit that this was another one of THOSE episodes that I enjoyed watching the most. ;)

Even though Areeba is counselling Arham continuously but their conversations make it a bit confusing as to how much time has lapsed between Arham-Narmeen’s breakup, Narmeen-Shahiq’s wedding & then Areeba-Arham wedding too? During the past scenes Narmeen’s mother suggests that her daughter should get married to Shahiq directly so I really couldn’t understand why Arham went into a shell because even after the whole ‘gunnah’ incident happened it looked like Shahiq got married just in a few days. So, I was just wondering why did Arham, at first, made it sound like it happened a few years ago & did he actually get the time to go into a deep seclusion because even after the incident happened, he is seen normal, going around to people’s places & fighting for himself, so I just want to know k usay chup kab lagi?

A little fails are obviously the spirit of the drama that’s why I couldn’t help notice Arham’s shirts changing, firstly a black one when he was at Narmeen’s to threaten her, later in the continuing scene when he was conversing with Shakeel, he was in white & blue & it was made to look like he was just coming back from Narmeen’s house & later when he is seen in his room on a praying mat, he is once again back to the black shirt which he wore in Narmeen’s home! I think he must’ve kept a change of clothes with him in the car, just to feel fresh, you know!

Shahiq who at first hated the idea of getting married actually yelled at Arham for going to her house? When did Shahiq start to have all those sympathies with Narmeen, I wonder. Now when he has gotten married to her, he has gone into a state of escape where he just likes lazing around wherever Narmeen is not present, lol! But I must say, I am getting bored of Mikaal Zulfikar’s up-tight personality & acting, he makes the character looks absolutely boring & his formal dressing up doesn’t help either.

Ohkay I once again couldn’t help noticing the background sound effect when Shahiq went to Narmeen’s place. I think there was no need to add that spooky music which later turned into a tabla, making it look like Narmeen’s mom will start belly dancing at the sight of Narmeen going away with Shahiq. That music was never heard before & doesn’t even belong to the theme tracks of the drama that we’ve heard. Sarah tells Arham & Areeba that the food is ready dressed in some green coloured suit but later at the dinning table, she is wearing grey. I wonder how does this family find a time & courage to change dresses in a jiffy? When Areeba enters the dinning room she says Asalam Alaikum & I think by the sight of rice, they were having a lunch already, so I guess Areeba must’ve said her Salams first thing in the morning while having breakfast, so was there a need of saying it again? That scene was worse-directed too because a few were already eating while the other’s plates were clean to the core. Narmeen’s changing hairstyles in this episode must get a special mention here too, from straight worn down hair to the side braid & then later in a continuing scene a complete back-combed braided hair…I mean was it really necessary for the crew of the drama to be paying attention to these hairstyles when there was not a substance in the drama itself?

What Areeba did & how she changed the situation was commendable, Narmeen definitely needs someone to play mind-games with her that too of the calibre she has, but I actually hated how Ayesha Khan looked in that scene, that smirk, that ramp walk-like modelling was just so annoying & later Shakeel sahab’s over-the-top acting made things a bit more PERFECT. I loved when he said to Areeba ‘mujhe tum pe yakeen hai’. Ya Allah! Mujhe yakeen pe hi yakeen nahi raha abb.

Shahiq has started to give Narmeen the idea of what he thinks of her, which definitely Narmeen needs the most but the best part was when she & her mother were busted. That was a one perfect moment in the series of comical perfect moments of this drama. I actually couldn’t understand that Narmeen who actually promised to make Shahiq fall in love with her was insulting him & his family straight away, I wonder how’s she going to earn that LURVE she is so keen to get?

Another one of those funny episodes which I loved & can’t wait to see more…;)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Hard work and Fun Behind the Camera-Celebrities you want to know all about!

0

There are people who believe that acting is surely one of the easiest ways to earn livings as compared to other professions. This is probably because of the fact that what we see onscreen is a complete piece of perfection which hardly reveals about the hard work our actors render in making the project a complete success. Just like any other domain, even acting too demands a homework been done where the artists invest a great deal of time in understanding what is demanded out of their character. From the script to the learning, from the lessons given by the directors to the building of chemistry with the co-artists, acting is a wide field where an actor needs to be smart enough to grasp the feel of the theme.

Here are a few rare seen pictures which reveal more about the hard work and the fun our celebrities do on their shoots.

On the Set of Silvatein

Amina Sheikh and Adeel Hussain are great friends in real life and their onscreen chemistry is simply a perfection. The two of them were seen working together in Daam and again in Silvatein. As per the statement been passed by Adeel Hussain, he always finds it more than a fun to work with Amina.

On the Set Of Bulbulay

On screen comedy can never come out with a real feel until and unless the team enjoys the theme itself. Bulbulay is probably the biggest project in the domain of Comedy and if you have been following any member of the project on Facebook, you must know by now that the team really enjoys on set.

Out of all the prominent faces of Pakistan, Imran Abbas is one of the leading actors who enjoys a complete stardom for his striking looks and acting skills. The actor started his career as a chocolate hero in Pakistani drama serials and also made some money with modeling and advertisements. Imran Abbas Naqvi is an architect, though since the start of his acting career, he is not cashing any good from his degree.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 5 – Qudsia Finally Speaks Up!

0

I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s episode as it was full of surprises that were least expected. Aaliyan is slowly realizing the gravity of the situation, and that it is not as easy as he thinks!

photo 4(1)Natasha created havoc after hearing the news of his marriage, and the situation got worse when Qudsiya entered the picture. Aaliyan was already trying really hard to convince Natasha that the marriage was a sham, but Qudsiya’s pleaded him to not give her divorce and this made Natasha angrier, and Aaliyan was left in a difficult situation. It is about time he realized that Nikkah was not some casual matter and it has to be taken seriously at any cost!

photo 2(3)I always had the feeling from the start that Qudsiya would find any ally in Dudi, and this is exactly what happened. Dudi is the only one who thinks that Qudsiya is not after money and wants to stay at their house because she is in Aaliyan’s Nikkah, which is a justified demand. She patiently heard her side of the story, and also made it clear that the real daughter-in-law of the house would only be Natasha because their family matches up to their status. She wanted to make everything crystal clear to Qudsiya about this situation, and she understood Qudsiya’s problems too. I hope Dudi sides with her in the future because she is in for a rough time ahead!

photo 3(2)Mehmood’s reaction to the whole situation was completely justified. No father would continue the engagement in such a situation even though he was given the surity that the marriage would not last long. Mehmood seems like a very practical man because after what Aaliyan did to his daughter he should have broken ties with the family. Sultan’s lie also got revealed when Qudsiya came in front of Mehmood; she made her position clear that she does not want divorce because of her father’s deteriorating condition, and I was shocked to see Mehmood showing kindness to Qudsiya instead of being hostile towards her. I wish Natasha had also inherited some of Mehmood’s traits; she is such an immature person!

photo 5(1)The highlight of the episode for me was Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s first fight. I am glad that Qudsiya spoke up for herself instead of pleading and crying in front of Aaliyan. After hearing Aaliyan’s rant on ‘my personal life is getting disturbed’, ‘I went against my family to help you’ Qudsiya got angry and gave him a reality check.

‘Mujhe Nahi Pata Apko Is Neki Ka Mashwara Kis Ne Diya Tha’

Aaliyan was totally shocked to see Qudsiya angry and his ‘bas bas kitna bolti hai ap’ dialogue made me laugh out loud! The scene was power packed and Sajjal completely nailed it. It is just surprising to see Sajjal’s versatility in such a short span of time. Actor takes decade to show the kind of versatility she has shown in the matter of 2 to 3 years. She has done unique roles in shows like Sannata, Nanhi and the telefilm Behaad which I had thoroughly enjoyed! I wish I could say the same about Sheheryar; his dialogue delivery did not impress me in this scene and his expressions were also overdone in my view.

photo 1(3)Another surprising discovery was that Sultan’s current wife is not Aaliyan’s real mother. In her discussion with Sultan about the current Nikkah situation, she told him ‘uski ziada tar aadatein apni maa per gaee hai’. I am sure we will get to know more about the past in the upcoming episodes. I am also looking forward to Emaad Irfani’s entry. I am curious to know what role he will be playing in the show.

Really looking forward to the next installment!

Rishtey Kuch Adhoorai Sai – And enigma goes on..

This serial is becoming dull and boring with every passing episode. Honestly speaking, there was not a single point which drew my attention and made me attentive towards today’s episode. I was literally yawning while watching it and on serious note, I was enjoying commercial breaks more than this show today.

Gaiti visited her mother to get rid of tension she faced throughout the night. In the meanwhile,Arsal came to a conclusion that prime reason of Gaiti’s hesitation towards Arsal is because of Nikah issue that she told him. He is aware of half-truth that Gaiti is confused whether she is wed-locked to Arsal or not. And to get rid of this issue, Arsal decided to go to a Mufti alongwith Gaiti but Gaiti refused to go as she knew that two sisters cant be wed-locked to same man at a time.

1   Kiran is living in her own fantasy world and expecting that some magic will reverse the situation and Arsal will be all hers.Though, Arsal is Kiran’s husband (according to the Fatwa generated in this serial),still Kiran is unaware of the fact.I can bet my life on that the day she will come to know about ugly truth, she will no longer stay away from Arsal.

2

Arsal’s brother is taking interest in Kiran but Kiran has completely fallen for Arsal.Aliya’s attitude is beyond my understanding level. She should have became normal with Gaiti till now but she is moving with high speed in reverse direction.

3

On daadi’s advice, Arsal took a positive step and tried to ease up Gaiti by asking her that they will be friends from now on and he wont ask anything from Gaiti till she herself will be comfortable and ready to tell him. At that time, I was pretty sure that Gaiti’s heart will melt and she will shake hand with Arsal but what happened was beyond my and Arsal’s expectation.. :P .

4

All they are doing is just slowly dragging this show and forcing us to stop watching it. Credit of this worst aura goes to poor direction and failure of production house. Knowing the fact that the issue that has been arose in this serial is too sensitive to handle and even to talk about, they should have done proper research and should have added some side tracks in the show too. With these silly discussions all the time, viewers get irritated and frustrated to their worst. If there will be a side track, there will be some attraction in serial and viewers would be able to bear this unsolved enigma.

Hope to see some developments in forthcoming episodes.

Meri Zindage Hai Tu – Aman taking over all charges of Meenu

0

Episode started with a perfect frame of Naazo, wearing heavy earrings and having her dinner with rest of family members.I was wondering continuously that what is the occasion actually ? And then within a moment, I got a flashback that Aman presented those earings to Naazo as a token of his affection on getting distinction in her intermediate exams.Everyone was enjoying their meal to fullest except one person who is none other than Rudaaba. I laughed out literally when I saw that jealous look at Rudaaba’s face. On the other side, Naazo’s peaceful face expressions were telling us that she is no more uncomfortable now. But wait this is not the end of her tensions.

2    Naazo had her own dreams since her childhood. Her parents, Irum and Safeer also boosted her up to live up her dream of becoming a doctor one day. As medical studies require loads and lots of attention and Naazo’s attention is wholly for Meenu so she decided that she won’t go for medical studies and will continue with Bachelors in some general arts subjects. According to my point of view, Naazo should have given Meenu some space, no matter what it takes. In that way, Meenu would get used of Naazo’s busy schedule par Naazo tou Naazo thei. Out of two possible ways, she opted Meenu’s happiness and sacrificed her dream.

3But she didn’t know that Aman was there to help her out all the time whenever she is in trouble, she sorted every issue and asked Naazo to start her medical studies. In the beginning, Meenu was the centre of Naazo’s attention, instead of her studies. From leaving for her medical college to during lecture in class, all she do is to take care of Meenu and think of Meenu.

4

Aman observed it many times that with Meenu’s responsibility Naazo won’t be able to continue with her studies so he decided to take Meenu’s charge in every possible way. As expected , Meenu found a new friend in Aman and she started enjoying every moment that she passes with him.

5

I can sense some negative vibes  from Meenu. The  way she discussed everything with Naazo regarding Aman and her friendship with her and her expressions were indicating some forthcoming storm in their lives.

6

I loved discussion between Aman and Naazo today. The way Aman said that Woh umhain chahti hai iss lyai mai usai chahta hu ,woh tum se mohabbat karti hai iss lyai mai uss se mohabbat karta hu narrated that what Aman thinks of his and Meenu’s relation.

Villain Rudaba and her mother are planning something fishy. I hope they wont get success in what they are thinking for Aman and Naazo. Lets see what happens next.

Mere Humrahi Episode 10 – More Progress!

0

We finally got to see more of Haaniyah and Ahmed scenes and less of the additional tracks. I hope they get less screen space in the future too! Haaniyah was not comfortable with the idea of honeymoon and Ahmed sensed this. The poor guy tried to convince his mother but she kept a very valid point in front of him and since Ahmed is the obedient son, he couldn’t say no to his mother.

photo 1(2)Ahmed is trying so hard to adjust with Haaniyah and he even told her that they don’t have to act as husband-wife, they can go as friends. But Haaniyah was not ready to trust him and one could easily make out that Ahmed got hurt by this. He never complains about Haaniyah’s attitude; if someone else was in his place then they would have seriously offended by the lack of trust shown in him. Ahmed was not even mentally prepared to get married and he married Haaniyah to give her protection and to save her reputation, she should at least realize that!

Thanks to Haaniyah’s never ending ‘nakhre’ they ended up in a resort in the same city. One could have expected her to at least try to adjust to the situation, but she never even tried to make small talk with Ahmed. It was Ahmed who was continuously trying to get rid of the silence, but all he got in return were half baked sentences. I seriously feel for this guy, he is stuck in an awkward situation and he is trying his best to remove the awkwardness.

photo 3Talking to Haaniyah is like talking to an emotionless and feeling less brick wall. Ahmed started off the conversation with questions like ‘What is your date of birth?’, ‘horoscope’, ‘favorite color’ which I found really cute. They practically know nothing about each other! And all of Ahmed’s efforts went down the drain when he announced ‘mera ager beta hoga to mein usse cricketer banaonga’. So yes, we were back to square one after that since Haaniyah got offended by his words.

photo 4They also showed some progress in their relationship. The way he got worried when he did not find Haaniyah in their room was extremely cute. He was happy to see her walking and enjoying the weather, and Ahmed finally came up with a solution to their problem. Ahmed expects Haaniyah to try to make an effort from her side too, and they finally came to the conclusion that they should behave like friends. Well, they could have easily thought of this solution sooner.

photo 5Haaniyah finally opened up to Ahmed and I was in a state of shock when I saw Haaniyah and Ahmed shopping, hand holding and enjoying in the park. I couldn’t be happier to see the progress in their relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed all their scenes!

photo 2(1)Ahad is slowly realizing what a huge blunder he had made by ditching Haaniyah at the last moment. This reality check was given to him by his own friends. Ahad had become confused and scared when his friends had given him a horrible description of his life after marriage and this was one of the main reasons why he backed out. Till now, he was trying to justify his actions but now when his own friends told him that what he did was wrong, he had no justification left for his actions. Now he cannot deal with Haaniyah being Ahmed’s wife and his reaction to the news of their honeymoon proved that. I cannot imagine how Ahmed would have felt when he saw Ahad searching for Haaniyah when he came back home from the hospital.

photo(29)Samina will get to know the reason behind Haaniyah getting married to Ahmed instead of Ahad soon. There was simply no point of keeping her in dark after the wedding was over. When the whole world had witnessed it, then why hide it from Samina? Yes, she has the habit of telling everything to her mother, but things like these cannot be hidden from her forever. Ahsan and his family should have realized this and could have told her a censored version to kill her curiosity.

The preview of the next episode was pretty disappointing. Haaniyah’s behavior is going from bad to worse and I think Ahmed should simply stop trying now. Calling Ahmed’s sincere attempt to build their relationship as ‘dekhawa’ was pathetic in my view. I hope someone drives some sense into Haaniyah soon!

Adhoori Aurat Episode 25 & 26 – Zayaan Back In Maryam’s Life!

0

Both of these revolved around Zayaan revealing the truth to Ashiya and Maryam’s reaction to Zayaan coming in their life again. Both of these episodes were a bit slow, I would have liked it if it was faster paced. They could have covered all this in a single episode.

photo 1Ashiya felt an emotional attachment to Zayaan and this is the reason why she was so eager to meet him. Zayaan decided to reveal the truth to Ashiya through the pictures. Maybe if he had verbally told her that she was his daughter, she would not have believed him completely so he decided to reveal the truth in a very dramatic manner. Ashiya was on the top of the world to finally meet her father after all these years.

photo 2Ashiya also met Nusrat and Afshah and it was kind of surprising to see Nusrat so happy to see her. There was a time when she hated the small child just because she was a girl and now after so many years suddenly Ashiya has become so important. Maybe because she never had the grandson she had dreamed off! She has always used Ashiya to her advantage and even this time she is doing the same. Afshah sees a ray of hope in Ashiya and wants to use her to challenge Faiza. She is living a miserable life with Khurram who thinks of no one except Faiza, and she thinks that Zayaan would finally speak up in front of Faiza for her daughter. It was pathetic to see her lying about Maryam to Ashiya; she sure has some guts! If only she realized that she is suffering the consequences of her own actions instead of repeating the mistakes all over again! I guess it is useless to expect some people to change.

photo 3Nusrat wants to see Afshah happy and also wants to get out of Faiza’s tyrannical rule, and this is the reason why she brainwashes Zayaan to bring Ashiya in their house even though he had no intention to take her away from Maryam. The sad part is that she still does not regret a bit about what she had done with Maryam! Zayaa; however, does regret leaving Maryam. After suffering for 14 years with a dominating partner like Faiza, how can he not remember the loving, obedient Maryam?

photo 2He went to meet Maryam after so many years just for her daughter who has brought joy and happiness back in his life. Maryam could not believe that he had the audacity to come at her doorstep after what he had done to her, but people like Zayaan can do anything for their selfish motives.

‘Tumne Jo Mujhe Dukh Diye Hai Woh Poori Zindagi Ke Liyeah Kafi Hai’

I was really happy to see that she closed the door on Zayaan’s face. He is now thinking about his daughter after so many years; he did not think about her once when he divorced Maryam. But now things are going to get worse for Maryam because Zayaan will use Ashiya to pressurize Maryam to give him permission to meet his daughter.

photo 4It is normal for Ashiya to ask about her father; any child would! She also wants to spend time with her father like any other girl of her age and she thinks her demand to meet her father is justified. If she knew Zayaan’s reality then she would have never even wanted to see his face, and I really think it is time for Maryam to tell her the reality before she gets to hear a twisted version of it from Nusrat and Afshah. Afshah has already sown the seeds of doubts in her mind against Maryam and it will take no time for the misunderstanding to grow. Ajji advised Maryam to tell Ashiya everything, but Maryam does not have the courage to narrate the most difficult time of her life to Ashiya. She needs to gather courage soon before it is too late! Ashiya has joined hands with Zayaan and she will take his side when he will come back again to meet Maryam. Maryam was so shocked to hear that Ashiya is in contact with Zayaan, what will she do if she ends up losing her? If she keeps silent for long then she may lose Aashiya to Zayaan!

photo 4(1)Zayaan has become so brave all of a sudden because Faiza is not in the country at the moment. He wants Ashiya’s matter to be settled before she comes back because then she would never let Ashiya come in the house. Thanks to the brainwashing done by Nusrat, now Zayaan wants Ashiya to live with him too! Do these people even have a conscience? I seriously doubt that they do! Zayaan is the most pathetic character ever! Faysal Qureshi has done a wonderful job as Zayaan!

I am really looking forward to the next installment which will be the last episode!

Laila And Nabeel Shaukat- What’s the Story

0

These days when the young Pakistani celebrities are trying really hard to improve the overall image of the people associated to the showbiz industry, there can still be seen the reflection of the old reputation of Pakistani actors and actresses who failed completely in their reign to enjoy a respect and dignity out of their career.  Lollywood actress Laila has always maintained her pace to be in the news, at times for her affairs, and if not that then for violating the laws and visiting the jail even. The lady is now said to be associating herself with the young singer and winner of Sur Kshetra, Nabeel Shaukat.

Recently, a reputed printed media released the news stating about story that actress Laila is finding Nabeel Shaukat interesting enough to be linked with. The two met in a morning show three days before Eid and since then the actress is trying to contact the singer and sending him ‘adoring’ messages. Managing the awkward situation, his spokesman revealed that Nabeel switched off his cell and would soon be leaving for Holland because he is really not ready to be a part of any scandal which would obviously affect his newly-started career.

Here is the piece of news, have a look!
