Anaa Episode 8 – 11 – Story Review

These episodes of Anaa covered more of the family politics and the new turns in all the romantic/not-so-romantic tracks. After making some of the most important decisions of their lives in haste and anger, Daneen and Areesh both were shown suffering in different ways. While Daneen tried to make her marriage work, Areesh being the coward that he is, could not own the decision he took. Areesh has been shown as a really weak man while Daneen definitely has more guts than him. Ezza continued to sideline her actual feelings for Altamash and there were times when it was difficult to understand how serious Altamash was regarding this relationship. Some of the dialogues and situations are already getting repetitive. Even though Daneen is flawed and most of the times she is clueless as well but she is the reason I tune into this drama every week. She is more honest than most of the characters in this play and whatever she has done so far has harmed no one but herself. Hania Aamir’s performance has been superb throughout. Naimal Khawar and Usman Mukhtar’s on-screen chemistry makes you root for them but their relationship annoys me at times. I would definitely like to see them together on screen again.

The Love Triangles

These episodes covered Daneen’s attempts to settle down in her marriage but Saif had some serious reservations about the kind of relationship Daneen wanted. Saif has accepted Daneen as his wife but he isn’t the kind of man who will give Daneen the sort of companionship she wants. That is something Saif made quite clear before they got married but even then Daneen is getting sick of the constant comparisons and wants more from this relationship. Even though Daneen is immature, at times clever but she is no match for the more mature people around her who have their way more often than her. Although her phupo kept on giving her advices which were anything but positive, Daneen did not go running back into Areesh’s arms. While Areesh is being unfaithful and he is more than willing to divorce Aania, Daneen tried to help Aania whichever way she could. Also, her apology when Areesh picked up the phone and told her how he felt showed that she did not want to hurt Aania.

Anaa Episode 8 - 11 - Story Review

Altamash’s girlfriend and Ezza’s cousin are the two new characters which were introduced in these episodes. While Altamash’s girlfriend was insecure after finding out that he liked Ezza, Kabeer does not harbor any such feelings for Ezza, which is definitely a relief. The Altamash/Ezza track has a very non-desi feel to it. Some of the dialogues and scenarios however are not always pleasing. Ezza drinking Pulmonol and getting intoxicated was one such scene which reminded me of drama serial Ashk! The ‘talab ki machli’ dialogue was especially weird mainly because of the way it was written. The fact that Altamash is a ‘good catch’ was repeated many times. Nazia wants to see Altamash and Ezza together and it looks like she will eventually make it happen. Ezza’s denial of her feelings for Altamash is actually getting irritating now but I guess it is her anaa which isn’t allowing her to accept her feelings. The way Altamash gave his girlfriend a warning was in bad taste, unless there is an actual reason for showing his aggressive side.

Nazia’s Materialistic Approach

In these episodes the viewers saw how Nazia has changed. She doesn’t only want revenge but her entire approach towards everything is quite materialistic and shallow. Her husband naturally does not like the changes in her and her personality overall is annoying. She feels entitled to this better life and living it the way she wants after being away for all these years. She is a perfect example of how negative and bitter some people get after they have such unpleasant experiences. I think the reason why there has been so much focus on her attitude is that sooner or later she will be the reason why Altamash and Ezza get married.

Overall Impression

I know most people are watching this drama for Ezza and Altamash but for me Daneen is the main attraction. After watching these few episodes I am having a tough time liking Altamesh’s character since there are times when he comes across as a really twisted human being. Daneen’s character, the portrayal and her relationship with everyone around her are the reasons why I continue to watch and enjoy this drama. I am losing my patience with Ezza and Altamash they are clearly attracted to one another but they are constantly telling each other off as well. Daneen is more honest and now her ego has definitely taken a backseat in her life. Her character is easier to understand and relate to. You can’t help but feel for Aania but she is also to be blamed for being such a doormat. The performances have been on point, the family politics is the least interesting part of this drama but some of the other tracks are interesting enough.

Do share your thoughts about these episodes of Anaa.

Do Bol Episode 25 & 26 Story Review – Brilliant Performances

Opening Thoughts – Sweet Moments:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol had a lot of offer – some sweet & some bitter moments. It is amazing how everything is falling into place & I can’t wait for the last episode tomorrow. In literal sense, Team Do Bol has proved that when simple stories are executed nicely, they make such beautiful dramas.

Iqbal Has Changed Completely:

Iqbal decided to welcome Gaiti & Badar back into his life. The credit for it definitely goes to Nafeesa because it was due to her patience & persistence that she succeeded in convincing Iqbal to change his mind & accept the fact that he could never stay on bad terms with his only daughter. Badar respected Iqbal’s wish & took Gaiti to see her entire family. That entire scene along with Gaiti & Iqbal’s heart to heart was so emotional & well-executed, but I chuckled seeing Firdous acting as a typical Pupho who could not see everyone happy. I also liked the way Nafeesa tackled Firdous in this entire situation where she just listened to her quietly & didn’t say much as she was well aware of the kind of attitude Firdous generally had towards her family. It is also quite interesting to see how despite knowing everything that Zafar has done, Firdous continues to test everyone to see if they still respect her or not.

Gaiti & Badar shared a few good moments together but then Jamshed who kept on blackmailing Gaiti ended up doing what he was threatening her about. Badar was already confused after all the things he had heard from Fareeha that is why he found it hard to ignore the evidence that Jamshed presented & the picture that he painted in front of Badar. To be honest, I don’t really get Fareeha’s character & her involvement in this entire matter. She dislikes Gaiti & doesn’t want her to settle with Sameer, that’s fine but the phone call that she made to Badar in order to warn him was uncalled for. It is too obvious that Fareeha has got no life of her own, she is faarigh in literal sense that is why she has picked up Gaiti as a subject of her time pass & that is why she can’t stop yapping about her. Fareeha’s attitude is exactly like her hairstyle & styling – TACKY!

Sameer has turned out to be an annoying character. It is amusing how he acts all genteel & decent but all the things that he does scream the opposite. It was good to know that Sameer did acknowledge it in front of Rameen that everything between him & Gaiti was over but not sure why is he going to call Gaiti as shown in the preview of the next episode. Badar tried really hard to ignore everything but the constant reminders from all the sides are definitely going to cloud his judgment for a while. I did like the fact that even after hearing all those bad things about Gaiti, Badar did not show any reaction to make Fareeha or Jamshed feel that he was believing them. Badar has kept everything to himself & is analysing the situation, let’s see what happens.

Closing Thoughts – Beautiful Performances:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was emotional & packed with beautiful performances. The father daughter scene acted beautifully by Mehmood Aslam & Hira Mani was the highlight of this episode. The preview of the next episode seems dramatic & it seems that they still have a lot to show, so I am eagerly waiting to see that. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Inkaar Episode 8 Story Review – Interesting Conversations

Tonight’s episode of Inkaar had few of the most important developments to its credit. Shayan’s character is turning out to be an interesting one since he has different shades to his personality. Yumna Zaidi and Sami Khan look good together and their relationship tonight was covered in a sweet manner. Rehan Chaudhry is annoying and he clearly has a problem accepting other people’s likes and dislikes. With this episode the story moved forward a little and the viewers found out more about the characters.

Hajra Is In Love

In the previous few episodes the viewers were shown how and why Hajra gradually started trusting Shayan. In this episode for the first time Hajra declared her love for Shayan and she clearly trusts Shayan more now. In the previous episode Hajra was confused but tonight the way she told Rehan off and later on allowed Shayan to hold her hand basically proved that she trusted this man completely now. The scenes at the university were few of my favorites because Hajra and Shayan’s conversations in particular were very well written. These scenes also showed that Rehan was not going to leave Hajra and Shayan alone. He is making it impossible for Hajra to take admission again.
I absolutely loved the scene in which Hajra blamed herself for trusting Rehan but Shayan assured her by telling her that it was his fault and not hers. Hajra’s fears and her faith in Shayan was also translated beautifully on screen in these scenes. Coming back to the university was never easy for Hajra and it would have been impossible for her to continue fighting her case if Shayan was not on her side. There are however times when you can’t help but wonder if Shayan has a life other than being by Hajra’s side all the time. It would have been nice if he had some other interests, hobbies or perhaps a job.

Inkaar Episode 8 Story Review - Interesting Conversations

Shayan’s Character

The fact that Shayan is not your regular seedha sadha lrka definitely makes his character more appealing. Right from the beginning, through different scenes the writer conveyed the message that Shayan was completely capable of taking a stand for himself and for Hajra. It all started with him beating the man who said something to Hajra but refusing to hit her brother while he beat him up. Tonight too he was shown being aggressive repeatedly but he was a completely different person around Hajra. So far all his fights have been for Hajra but this aspect of his personality can perhaps swing in a different direction in the upcoming episodes. Shayan also does not confront Rehan the way he would confront anyone else. This basically shows that even after everything that happened, Shayan still holds himself back because Rehan was once his friend.

Rehan’s Character

So far, Rehan’s character is all back. He is seriously twisted, he has absolutely no respect for women and he is constantly shown harassing someone or the other. Tonight, even when he was interacting with Shayan’s mother he was quite intimidating. Rehan clearly thinks that he deserves respect but does not believe in respecting anyone at all. He is used to buying people whether it’s a servant or a headmaster and he does not value relationships at all.

Overall Impression

Sami Khan and Yumna Zaidi’s on-screen chemistry makes their scenes an absolute treat to watch. Imran Ashraf makes you hate his character which basically means that he is doing a great job. Still waiting to see how far Rehan will go to stop this marriage from taking place. Shayan too has proved that he can do anything for Hajra therefore it remains to be seen how far this fight will go. I especially like how Hajra’s relationship with her mother has grown in all these weeks. Her mother’s dialogue about khushi bantana was one of my favorites. There were quite a few meaningful conversations in this episode which were interesting.

Do Bol Episode 23 & 24 Story Review – Beautiful Drama

Opening Thoughts – Gaiti’s Perspective:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol focused more on the all the feelings & emotions that Gaiti was experiencing. The slow & steady change in Gaiti’s perspective & thought process has been shown beautifully in this drama & now this episode marked the defining moment of her relationship with Badar.

Gaiti Finally Admitted That She Loves Badar:

Gaiti did come back to Badar after being thrown out of Nafees’ place but still, all this while she was there, she could not take Badar out of her mind. Badar did think Gaiti came back because she had nowhere to go but he didn’t know that it was Gaiti’s love towards him that brought her back to his place. Badar did persuade Gaiti to come to a final conclusion because he wanted to do right by her. Ever since Gaiti left & he received those divorce papers, Badar has only doubted & questioned the integrity of this relationship. Badar knows that this relationship means a lot to him but despite that, he doesn’t want to prevent Gaiti from living the life she desires or dreams of. Badar started feeling that Gaiti came back only due to her helplessness & that is why he told her clearly that he will have no issues if she decides to leave.

Gaiti knew that she wanted to stay with Badar, she has fallen in love with him but till the time Badar made his intentions clear, she hadn’t addressed those feelings herself. Till date, Gaiti knew that Badar loved her but she herself did not admit that she also had feelings for him but then thanks to Sameer she was forced to think on those lines.

Sameer has now started to act like a spoiled brat who refuses to take no for an answer. I will admit that I like how the writer has shown Sameer to be a kind & harmless person & has only shown that the circumstances were never in his favour because of which he could not do what he wanted to in order to win Gaiti’s heart, but now his feelings have turned into an obsession which is a bit too much. Sameer knows that he has been misunderstood by Gaiti but only to find himself a chance of meeting her, he ended up pushing her to the limit where she was forced to confess that she was in love with Badar. Gaiti finally let Badar know that she was ready to spend the rest of her life with him & Badar could not believe it. That entire scene was nicely done.

On Iqbal’s side, he couldn’t cope up with the news of Jahan Ara’s demise, it broke & shattered him completely & may be that’s why, he decided to let go of any such ill feelings that he had towards anyone because Iqbal also learned that holding so much hatred & anger in his heart was doing no good to him or his family. May be that’s why Iqbal not only forgave Zafar but also found it in his heart to forgive & welcome Gaiti back in his life too. Nafeesa’s patience & persistence is commendable & I also love how both Nasreen & Nafeesa find the time to unwind & confide in each other. Nasreen at first did seem to be a little selfish but I like how they have shown her sharing such a healthy relationship with Nafeesa, where she feels for her a lot & always lends her emotional support too.

In last week’s episode of Do Bol, during Neelam’s rukhsati scene, they showed that Zafar attended the wedding but in this week’s episode, they suggested as if he brought home now for the first time that too after having him jailed. I found this to be a little glitch because last week there was a conversation too where Iqbal tells Munawwar to hurry up with Neelam’s wedding before Zafar’s issue is blown out of proportion & he causes more harm as by that time Zafar had already left for Malaysia supposedly. Anyways, Zafar came back but he didn’t feel ashamed at what he has done, in fact he vowed to destroy his own uncles because they exposed him. Firdous tried really hard to win her place back by playing the sympathy card but she is well aware of the fact that Zafar’s attitude will land her in deep trouble.

Jamshed filmed Gaiti’s final meeting with Sameer & on the other hand even Fareeha was trying to plant a seed of doubt in Badar’s heart against Gaiti too. It seems Gaiti will have to make some more effort in order to prove her love & purity of her intentions in front of Badar because the circumstances will state the otherwise.

Closing Thoughts – Beautiful Drama:

Overall, this episode like all the previous episodes of Do Bol was superb. I loved Hira Mani’s calm & composed acting as Gaiti. She made it obvious that despite the circumstances not being in her favour, she was at peace & was ready to take her life as it comes. It is commendable how such intricate & complex emotions have been conveyed by Hira Mani with such effortlessness. Affan Waheed & all the supporting actors have done a wonderful job too. The entire team of Do Bol should take a bow for creating & giving the viewers such a beautiful drama. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

6 Most Disliked Couple of Pakistani Dramas

Here is list of 6 Most Disliked Couple of Pakistani Dramas.
What makes an on screen couple odd? The answer is simple, the wrong choice of actors, lack of chemistry between the stars playing their respective roles and the way their track is introduced and carried forward both by the writer and the director. Sometimes the story is not strong but poignant performances, sleek direction and on screen chemistry between the leads can make an on screen couple a hit. At other times even when the actors give their best performances and the director puts in his best effort too, the overall product is not impressive because the story-line is dodgy.

Cheekh Episode 17 – Story Review

Opening Thoughts – Filler Episode:

Ohkay so, this episode of Cheekh had nothing to do with the actual story but it just covered the random details & developments that took over the lives of most of the characters. I am actually not sure how I feel about this episode especially because I wasn’t too appeased with the filler scenarios as the part of me eagerly wants to see the court case being pursued.

Scenarios That Had Nothing To Do With The Story:

So, the highlight of this episode for me was the shift in Shehwar’s character. It was interesting to see how she wasn’t even bothered about anyone especially Yawar anymore. Shehwar’s way of reacting might seem irrational but it totally fits the circumstance of someone who has been betrayed in the worst possible manner. Shehwar trusted Yawar the most & she got to know that he didn’t even think for a second about her while lying to her all this while. Shehwar at first didn’t seem to be in her senses but then as the episode progressed I could see how she was keen on giving Yawar the taste of his own medicine. Shehwar has thought thinks through, she knows what she is putting Yawar through & she is just deriving pleasure out of it plus she also wants Yawar to confess the truth but he won’t. Yawar’s perplexity made it pretty obvious that he was disturbed about the lie that Shehwar was telling.

Mannat & Shayan are expecting a child & even though their romance is a good mood changer in this otherwise one-dimensional story, I feel Saba Qamar’s expressions are making this equation a tad bit cheesy. It is really nice to see a husband & wife sharing such a strong bond despite their circumstances but I totally feel that in order to make it work & look beautiful, Saba Qamar should have kept it a bit subtle & not too over-expressed.

Wajih decided to intimidate Mannat by harming her mother. Wajih also decided to teach the servant a lesson, the same servant who did not buy Wajih’s lie about Mannat. I think the servants have been getting way too much coverage but then I hope it is basically a build up for all of them testifying against Wajih, I wish that’s the case because that alone will justify the screen time they got. However, I think it is getting tiresome seeing Wajih acting all KeWl & UnBoThErEd. The story has definitely become stagnant & that is not a good sign!

Haya for the first time tried to put a pressure on her tiny brain & decided to ask Wajih in order to see whether the culprit will confess his crimes? Anyways, if Haya will try to put two & two together, it will definitely be better because I would hate to see a character go to waste without not doing something beneficial & useful!

Closing Thoughts – Misleading Precaps:

This episode of Cheekh was a miss for me but I am sure it must have worked for all the avid fans of this drama. Not sure what the future holds for Mannat but would hate to see her losing any of the support system or happiness that he has especially her husband or her baby. The preview that was shown last week was again misleading because none of it happened in this episode so I am not too keen on the precap shown this week too as I think all of that will happen probably after 2 weeks. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Cheekh.

Ranjha Ranjha Kardi Episode 26 Story Review – Extremely Distressing

Tonight’s episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was painful to watch. Watching Noori push Bhola to the edge so that she could get the reaction she wanted was truly heart-wrenching. Right now everyone is playing to win but Bhola is the only one who is happily willing to lose so that his dulhan does not leave him. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi continues to be highly unpredictable, Noori and Bhola’s journey is drawing to a close and it seems like there might not be any clear winners in the end. Imran Ashraf was the star of the show tonight, yet again. The way he has translated this extremely challenging character effortlessly and impeccably on screen is simply amazing. Iqra Aziz too makes her presence felt in every episode, her expressions tonight were on point.

Noori’s Mind Games & Bhola’s Helplessness

Noori has always tried to control her life in some way or the other but this time around in her desperation she cannot see right from wrong. In her fight for survival she exploited Bhola’s weaknesses and even though Bhola fought hard but he eventually ended up doing exactly what Noori wanted. It was extremely disturbing watching Noori execute her plan without any regard for Bhola or Fehmida. Even though Noori has been wronged and it is understandable why someone like her wouldn’t want to be with Bhola but trusting Sahir once again has to be the worst mistake Noori has made so far. It was difficult to understand why the medicines were not having the same affect, they had on Bhola before. There were many meaningful conversations tonight which revolved around winning and losing. These conversations showed that while Sahir calculated every little thing, Bhola’s only concern was to make his dulhan happy. Bhola’s state of mind was shown brilliantly on screen. These scenes were written and executed faultlessly.

Ranjha Ranjha Kardi Episode 26 Story Review - Extremely Distressing

Even though Sahir said in the previous episode that he wanted to ‘rescue’ Noori but their conversations and his attitude tonight clearly showed that this was his fight and he wanted to win at all costs. Noori questioned him but he played hard to get which made Noori even more desperate. Noori always contributed more to this relationship than Sahir and now too things are the same.

Few weeks back Noori was willing to be Bhola’s ‘partner’ in some ways because she knew she had no place else to go and also there was a time when she compared Bhola’s love for her to that of Sahir’s. After Bhola’s violent moves and especially Nusrat finding out about Noori’s past, she feels that leaving Bhola is the only way out. She did not really need to rely on Sahir the way she did in order to do that but unfortunately for now she wants a future with Sahir.

Bhola’s scenes tonight were so difficult to watch that there were times when I wanted to forward these scenes. Komal’s unconditional love for Bhola has always been a breath of fresh air. No matter what happens, Komal is always there to support him, to cover up for him. Fehmida too once again supported her son even though she knew in her heart that what he did was awfully wrong. Asma Abbas’ expressions and performance never fails to impress. She translates Fehmida’s embarrassing moments exceptionally well on screen.

Ranjha Ranjha Kardi Episode 26 Story Review - Extremely Distressing

The Preview

The preview of the next episode was extremely enticing. Ama Janate will visit and that’s when Rizwana will tell Fehmida everything she knows about Noori’s background. Noori it seems will go back to the village with Ama Janate. Will Sahir betray Noori once again? How will Bhola cope without his dulhan? Has Noori successfully dug her own grave? Will Fehmida ever find out what Nusrat has been doing all these years? Will Fehmida eventually take Noori back because of her son? Waiting to find out. There are so many possibilities even now. I hope that this drama won’t have a terribly tragic ending.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi.

Meer Abru Episode 7 & 8 Story Review – A Grave Misunderstanding

Opening Thoughts – Intense & Interesting:

Ohkay so, these two episode of Meer Abru were not only interesting but were intense & I absolutely loved watching them. This drama has been so well-directed & all the performances are just so effortlessly convincing that make Meer Abru worth your time. All the things that happened were the defining moments of the story & now the course of it is going to change.

Short Lived Love Story:

I loved the short-lived love story of Meer Abru. Meer finally poured his heart out to Abru & told her what he felt for her. Abru happens to be the first girl ever to have made Meer feel that way & that is why he realized that the thought of her made him happy, her presence mattered to him & he loved her. Abru was shocked to hear everything that Meer said but then even she was in love. Abru never really paid heed to the feelings she had developed for Meer until he confessed his love to her & she also realized that she was in love. Meer showed Abru his vulnerable side & it did affect Abru emotionally, she knew that she had to mend his broken heart. Abru felt so many emotions for Meer, from anger to hatred to sympathy to compassion, then affection & also love, it was like Meer could not escape Abru’s mind & that is why despite not having a smooth relation with him ever, she couldn’t help falling in love with him. Meer gifted Abru the chain & told her to wear it if she wanted to show her acceptance. I loved that entire equation & the time both Abru & Meer shared with each other, they both were different to each other but were now in love & absolutely happy but then, the circumstances took that away from them.

Meer Abru Episode 7 & 8 Story Review - A Grave Misunderstanding

In the meantime, Waleed continued to trap Haya & Sana, especially Haya because he knows she is someone who does not even question him unlike Sana. When it comes to Sana, Waleed has to prove himself to her over & over again but Haya trusts him blindly. Waleed ended up spotting that chain & took it back to create more misunderstandings between Abru & Meer.

Zebi only agreed to Saim & Abru’s marriage because she thinks she will use Abru as a weapon to break this entire home. Zebi didn’t even tell her plan to Waleed, who actually happens to be her ally in most of the things. Waleed doesn’t like Abru & Zebi knows that too but she knows that her sons absolutely love & respect Meer’s family, so she kept her secret to herself as she knows she will have to do everything on her own if she wants to achieve what she has been dreaming of; a separate home & business for her family unit. I am not a fan of Zebi’s character, I am sure no one is but what makes it far more difficult to tolerate her is Jia Ali’s tacky styling, uf! Anyways, that scene was cute where both Zebi & Jamal teased Saim & then let him know that they were totally on his side & were giving him & Abru their blessings for the marriage. Such scenes add a different dimension to the story & they actually tie the story together.

Meer Abru Episode 7 & 8 Story Review - A Grave Misunderstanding

Abru said yes to Meer’s proposal but sadly, Meer didn’t think things through before misunderstanding Abru yet again. I actually feel for Meer because he is someone who tries to break free from what he has seen while growing up but subconsciously he has harboured all those complexes, insecurities & fears in his mind that he can not look past them. Meer decided to question Abru but before even doing that he had set the accusatory tone which riled Abru up. Meer was not actually questioning Abru, he was actually passing a verdict that whatever he thinks of her is what the reality is. It was unfortunate that Meer did not allow Abru the chance to explain herself. To be honest, I was actually rooting for Meer & Abru but seeing the way Meer easily misunderstands & mistrusts Abru, I think she is better suited with Saim who will not put her through this mental torture where she’d have to explain or prove herself over & over again. Meer is nice, like he is eccentric, he is different, but he most certainly has some serious trust issues. Meer hasn’t realized that he does all of what he hates his father for. Even though Meer does not want to see his mother being treated that way but chances are highly likely that he will treat his wife exactly the way Ghazanfar has treated Saira all his life.

Meer decided to fix things, but being the difficult person that he is, he once again demanded an explanation, a clarification to do something for Abru. Meer can not trust Abru no matter what she will say or do, that is why he didn’t even think of doing the heavy lifting without hearing the truth from her. All the things that Saim said to both Meer & Abru showed the kind of person he is. That entire confrontation was so intense & brilliantly executed where Saim decided to back out but he showed Abru what he thought of her. Saim made it very easy for Abru to make a decision because there was Meer, the love of Abru’s life who was not ready to trust her & then there was Saim, who she saw as her friend but he was not only trusting her but trying to make Meer understand too that she could never do anything wrong. Meer is a victim of his own words, his anger, his emotions. At one moment I felt he will give Abru the assurance she needs & he will say that he trusts Abru but no, he wanted Abru to convince him & prove her innocence.

Closing Thoughts – Loving It So Far:

These episodes of Meer Abru were brilliantly directed & the editing was spot on too. There are no loose ends so far & all the tracks are progressing at a same decent pace. I love Abru’s character & the preview showed how she will not settle for mistreatment in the name of love. Even though Saim will always be wary of Meer’s feelings for Abru, but still it is Abru who gets to make the decision which is perfect. Sanam Chaudhry’s styling in this drama is perfect, she always gives her characters a different treatment but I will say she has never looked this good before. Her hair, makeup & the wardrobe is perfect in Meer Abru. Noor Hassan & Zain Baig look graceful & Saad Qureshi has never looked this good before too, even though he can still rely on a little less makeup but he is doing complete justice to the character of Waleed. I am loving Meer Abru so far & can’t wait to see the remaining episodes. This drama is so my cup of tea, therefore I am enjoying it like anything. Aangan Episode 19 Story Review – The Wedding

This was one of the slowest episodes of Aangan which covered Chammi wedding and how Alia managed to keep her from killing herself. Apart from Sajal Aly and Mawra Hocane’s performances, there was nothing exciting about this episode. This was also yet another episode which lacked the flow needed to make it more engrossing. The songs and the dance seemed completely out of place as well and reminded me of Bin Roye. Even after all these weeks I have failed to connect to most of the characters on a deeper emotional level. I do feel however that Chammi and Alia’s character had potential if the story was more focused on them. Chammi’s deprivations and her character overall could have been explored more. Sajal Aly has a screen presence for sure and she knows how to keep her audience hooked. Apart from the fact that Alia fell in love with someone like Jamil even after vowing not to love anyone ever, this character has a lot going for it. The supporting characters in this drama have to be the weakest link. Their stories and their dialogues are extremely repetitive and annoying. You have to filter out the good bits from every episode because there are so many scenes in every episode which either add nothing to the story or are just a repetition of what has already been shown.

Chammi Gets Married

Chammi finally found out about her marriage and her reaction was obviously that of denial and shock. Alia stayed true to the promise she made to herself and was by Chammi’s side all the time. Sajal Aly did exceptionally well portraying Chammi’s state of mind. She is the only character I feel for. Alia’s mother’s fixation with her brother is just as annoying as Kareeman Bua’s fixation with Malik Muzaffar. The ladies were clueless, cold and practical as usual. Israr was the only man who attended this wedding and actually contributed to it in some way. This wedding was just as sad an affair as most of the events in this aangan.

Chammi’s mother-in-law’s conversation with Najma showed that these people had money and they too were just as ‘jahil’ as Chammi. Wondering if Chammi will finally be around people who accept and value her for who she is. Jamil was clearly on Chammi’s mind right till the end and the viewers did not even get to see Chammi’s dulha.

Once again Azhar conveniently missed an important event because he was too busy with politics. I am not sure why the viewers should even care about Azhar and his worries since he is such a cold hearted man. It was good to see that even after everything that has happened over the years, Alia has not turned bitter.

Overall Impression

There isn’t a single balanced male character in this drama, the screenplay is sloppy to say the least and there have been hardly any episodes which have been well put together. The fact that there has been absolutely no character development in all these weeks is another reason why watching Aangan can be a tedious task. I am glad Chammi did not kill herself but the preview of the next episode suggested that someone is going to die. Jamil will be back and it seems Alia and Jamil’s love story hasn’t ended yet.
