Digest Writer – Episode 19!

Ohkay so, looks like they’re on a way to wrap this drama up that’s why some major revelations & realizations are unravelling & I think Fareeda & Shaukat have reached their breaking point & either one of them will walk out of this marriage but by the looks of it, I think it’s going to be Fareeda who will decide whom she wants in her life & whom she doesn’t.

I really liked the scene between Naghma & Fareeda. ‘Dua ke saath bad-dua na dain’, just a few words but they carried another level of depth in them. Fareeda knows that every single step that she took towards her progress came with a huge price that she had to pay to be able to hold onto it, that’s why she is done with wishing for something better to come to her. At least it is good to see that after FIL, Naghma is being supportive of Fareeda. Naghma knows she can’t do much as she herself is dependent on her family but the least she could do is offer some emotional support to Fareeda & she was at least trying, which is very kind of her.

I can’t emphasize enough on how much hatred I am feeling for Shaukat & his Amman. They are absolutely merciless & think they are Fareeda’s responsibility now. Even after Fareeda has done so much for them, she is still falling short of everything because their demands are not coming to an end. The scene where Fareeda & Shaukat went to shop for Surraiya was done really well. It depicted the status of their relation to perfection where Fareeda wanted everything for her daughter because she loves her but Shaukat tried to cut the corners because he is not at all emotionally attached to Surriaya & thinks she doesn’t need all this. I just can’t imagine that the guy who only wanted to get married is coming across as such a person wasn’t mentally ready for a lifelong commitment because he hasn’t been able to do justice to both; his wife & his daughter too.

Obviously there was a lot of emphasis on Fareeda’s earnings because that’s the only thing related to her that’s important to all those who’re living with her & even to the one who isn’t living with her & that is Najma – other than that, no one really thinks of what she wants. Fareeda has obviously started to give words to the thoughts about Shehryaar that often cross her mind. We really thought that she succeeded in forgetting him completely but as Fareeda confessed, it never really happened & she couldn’t take him out of her mind because she got nothing in her new life that could replace the good memories she had of him. Shaukat hasn’t done anything for Fareeda at all so it’s imperative that she missed Shehryaar’s presence in her life all this while but then it’s commendable that Fareeda tried her level best to adjust into this relation & she gave away everything she had just so that she could please Shaukat & his family even though she never fell in love with her husband

The showdown between Fareeda & Shaukat was gripping too. I felt that at that point what Shaukat also said was right to some extent BUT BUT BUT having that that I also feel that it was just a bad attempt of making an excuse for his infidelity & what he has done is absolutely wrong because forget about the major things, the least he could do for her was to stay loyal to her. He just couldn’t justify what he did therefore very conveniently he tried to put all the blame on Fareeda but the way she reacted & countered an argument was spot on too. She has done everything in her might to make this marriage work but now if Shaukat thinks he wants someone else, I really think there’s no point of staying in this marriage where there’s no love, respect & sincerity left. When Shaukat was saying all those things to Fareeda, I just wanted to smack & remind him that he was the one who told her to stop writing, he was the one who told her that she had to take care of household chores & now when Fareeda submitted to his will, he came up with a shameless excuse saying that just because Fareeda couldn’t pay attention to him & herself, he decided to move on while being married to her. Yes, Fareeda was indifferent to him, Fareeda wasn’t happy with him BUT she never gave him a reason to cheat on her & for this, I really wish Fareeda divorces him & finds her own happiness. Shaukat also forgot that the papers he was taunting her about are the source of her income & even if Fareeda loves writing, who is he to question her about it? When he felt she shouldn’t write, Fareeda stopped & when he felt the need of her money, he asked her & she started writing, so when Fareeda sacrificed the thing she loved the most for him, how can he say that it’s the only thing that’s important to her? Fareeda hasn’t been given any option to decide things for herself ever since she got married but Shaukat is completely forgetting that.

I was so glad to see Mazhar Hayat being questioned & grilled for losing the drama written by Rushk-e-Hina. I so want to see how he’ll contact her & request her to write for his channel once again. I just so want to see his ego getting hurt too because he needs to understand that gone are his days & its Rushk-e-Hina’s time now. I really like the character of Umm-e-Maryam too, she comes across as such a nice person who truly respects Fareeda & is inspired by her. I really like the fact that they have kept all the supporting characters complete & have even worked on their natures because no matter which role they are playing; positive or negative, small or big, they all actually come across as genuine & real.

I enjoyed watching this episode a lot & now when the drama has almost reached its finale, I really feel that I’ve formed a bond with Fareeda in fact with all the characters. Every single person has acted so well in this serial & Saba Qamar has convinced me to become her fan in Digest Writer but I must say Gohar Rasheed has taken a role of annoying aashiq/husband to a whole new level with his minute & unique expressions. He is a flawless actor & it actually shows that he has given his 100% in each & every scene because he made us laugh & now he has forced us to hate him too & only a few powerful actors can achieve this in just no time. Totally impressed by everything related to Digest Writer; its script, its direction, its casting, its characterization, its dialogues, its picture quality, its attention to detail & in short, every single thing. Digest Writer – Episode 18!

Ohkay so I really enjoyed watching this episode because things seem to be happening at a faster pace now. Looks like they are going to wind this serial up but they still have a lot of aspects to cover, which means the succeeding episodes will be a lot more happening like this one.

So, Mazhar Hayat continued being unreasonable because he just didn’t want Fareeda to have satisfaction that she could write well. He kept on throwing her script away even after she made a lot of amends just because he never wanted to approve her writing in the first place but I am so glad that another opportunity presented itself & that gave Fareeda an edge to deal with Mazhar in a way that could set him right. I liked the honesty with which Fareeda told Mazhar about her decision; he hated working with her, so she allowed him to live happily ever after because he succeeded in shooing her away. Fareeda is a gifted writer & there’s no denying to that & all she required was a perfect opportunity & a perfect team to work with & luckily she got one. As expected, Fareeda wrote a brilliant script which made an impact right from the beginning & she secured a good place in that channel, which means Fareeda’s on a way to her success.

It was good to see Fareeda’s professional life shaping up but seems her personal life ain’t ever going to get smoother & she is going to face a lot more challenges in the days to come. Shaukat is interested in someone else & I think this will force Fareeda to rekindle her old feelings that she had for Sheheryaar. Even though she proved to be a very good life partner who compromised, tried to make this marriage work & was always ready to do everything to please her new family – Shaukat & his family didn’t deserve a girl like her. They all looked like a bunch of vultures when they were trying to get their hands on the money that Fareeda earned. It’s pretty clear that they are only interested in what she can do as a writer but on the other hand they lack a basic sense of courtesy, which is why instead of making her life easier, they are making it more miserable with the incessant taunting & belittling but I am glad that at least they haven’t shown Fareeda as someone who lives in a bubble. She might be a day dreamer with a strong imagination, but she knows exactly when she needs to keep her eyes open & because of that she can clearly see what’s happening around her & even though it’s sad, it’s still good in a way that she is not living in some lala land, which means that if she will ever make a drastic change in her life, it won’t come across as an irrational decision.

Looks like Fareeda will get another supporter in the family & that would be Shaukat’s elder sister. I really like how they have etched out Fareeda’s character. What she did didn’t seem forced at all because that’s how she is, she is courteous, big hearted and compassionate & it just didn’t matter who it was, when she felt Naghma needed her help & support, she took a stand for her & stood by her & that makes me like her character even more.

I so wish that they do show Mazhar Hayat paying for what he did with Fareeda. I hope the channel head takes an action against him because of his prejudices & biasness towards her plus I also want him to witness Fareeda’s success himself & then feel ashamed of being so irrational. Actually, I just want everyone to pay the price & that includes Shaukat & his whole family (FIL excluded) as well.

Going by the preview, looks like Shehryaar is going to make an entry into Fareeda’s life again, even though for now, he’s going to be confined to her thoughts only but I do have a feeling that they both will end up being together & especially after what Shaukat is doing to her, I don’t mind seeing Fareeda with Shehryaar because no matter how shallow he might’ve been, at least he made her happy. I felt a lot for Fareeda when I saw her smiling wholeheartedly after reading her fan’s messages, it’s like ever since she has gotten married, this was the first time she actually tasted what it was like to be appreciated for something that she’s so passionate about & that is why it looked like her smile came right from her heart. I just can’t wait for the happy times to roll in for Fareeda. Share your thoughts on this episode of Digest Writer please. :)

Digest Writer – Episode 17!

Well, I guess it’s safe to say that the pace for which Digest Writer is known for is back. I found this episode a lot more happening because there were so many scenes that were to the point & contributed a lot in progression of the story. I am glad that finally Fareeda’s professional life has come to the forefront & her personal life is still getting some coverage but is being balanced out by the focus on her career.

Mazhar Hayat is just a pompous, self-assertive & insecure senior who thinks he has an ultimate right to pass the verdict on people & their calibre without even knowing them. He is giving Fareeda a tough time just because she’s a digest writer & Mazhar doesn’t approve of the road she has opted for to become a writer. If Mazhar’s ulterior motive would’ve been to guide & teach the basics of script writing to Fareeda, his tact would’ve looked justified but he is definitely on a trip of his own where he is making it difficult for her to concentrate as he is constantly putting her down. Mazhar Hayat is stuck in the past where he is unnecessarily drawing a comparison between olden & the recent times. It looks like he is so blinded by his thoughts to see that he’s achieving nothing out of it. I found it completely unfair that just because he had preconceived notions about Fareeda, he allowed them to cloud his judgments & he didn’t make an effort to give her a reasonable chance to prove herself. Obviously, Fareeda writes well because of which she has been able to gain immense popularity in no time but seems like Mazhar is insecure of her success as he knows that his writing days are numbered & he’s clearly having ego issues as he can see that now youngsters are striving to get to the top & somehow people are allowing that to happen which means that his name will be long forgotten & no one will bother much about it.

I liked how they juxtaposed the situations where at one hand she was striving to do what she’s passionate about & on the other hand she was doing all in her might to fulfil the responsibilities that she’s supposed to. Sadly, Fareeda has understood that her journey to become a script writer won’t be easy especially when she will be supervised by Mazhar Hayat as he is clearly not impressed by her work. Mazhar, being a male can obviously not relate to Fareeda; a female writer. For him writing is such a thing that requires undivided attention. He might see untidy pages that carry Fareeda’s words but he cannot ever connect to what pain Fareeda goes through to pen down her thoughts. She is juggling so many lives & responsibilities that even if she herself explains what it takes for her to write, Mazhar will just tag it as a bunch of excuses as he just isn’t ready to look at the other side of the picture.

Is it just me or Shaukat actually seemed a bit concerned seeing how Fareeda hit her lowest? He is clearly done with how he has to maintain a balance between his mother & his wife where at least Fareeda doesn’t say much but his mother’s complaints aren’t coming to a stop. Shaukat might not have proved to be an ideal husband & he may not be mentally groomed to match Fareeda’s calibre but yes, what he does is a result of what he’s being brain fed. I am sure if his mother wouldn’t keep a hawk eye on what he does & how he treats Fareeda, he wouldn’t have made such a bad husband. Yes, after getting married he hasn’t done anything that he promised he would but I somehow feel he isn’t responsible for all his reactions. I found it really amusing that Sajida could ignore her bedridden husband for the sake of outing whereas she is the one who gives lectures on how one should never slack off when it comes to responsibilities.

It was good to see Fareeda having a conversation or two with her family members. I kind of felt relieved to see a smile on Zarina’s face because ever since Fareeda has gotten married, Farhaan’s fee has been bothering Zarina so much that she forgot to smile. Even though Fareeda’s family isn’t greedy but it’s a sad reality that people ought to financially depend on their daughters who are capable of making money. I really like the fact that they have continuously kept Surriaya in the picture & her presence is a part of those responsibilities that Fareeda has to look after, otherwise in most of the dramas, kids are just shown in a couple of episodes but are never made a part of the story but in Digest Writer Fareeda’s always seen taking care of Surraiya & in the meantime tending to Shaukat’s demands too, which somehow completes the picture of what a life of a housewife is like.

The preview of next episode seemed really interesting because looks like Mazhar Hayat will again be hell-bent on pushing Fareeda to a threshold. I think she will eventually come up with such a brilliant piece that will shut him up for good. All the actors have done a marvellous job in this drama & I am glad that the pace has finally picked up again. Share your thoughts on this episode of Digest Writer please. :)

Digest Writer – Episode 16!

Ohkay so, like I sussed before, Mazhar Hayat is definitely going to give Fareeda a hard time. He dislikes all the digest writers just because they happen to write for different digests & that makes him believe that they’re beneath him because supposedly they know nothing about actual & meaningful writing. I totally understand the concern he has for the drama industry because he believes in writing unique stories with a message & a meaning & even his concern about how digest writers have overtaken the industry with their thoughts confined to marriages, its problems & women oriented issues is also reasonable but the way he disses all the digest writers & looks down upon them without even going through their writings makes me dislike him. He is definitely a veteran writer & no one takes that away from him but Mazhar Hayat fails to understand that times have changed & people demand different stories. Until now, directors & drama makers have only discussed how his scripts don’t make good dramas & that has somehow affected Mazhar Hayat more than he can express. I do agree with Mazhar Hayat whenever he speaks about how channel owners these days are only concerned about ratings but that doesn’t mean that if a few new writers are bringing in some fresh ideas, channels shouldn’t pay heed to their work just because a seasoned writer happens to be around them. It’s actually amusing that even though he doesn’t know anything about Fareeda & her work, he already has a problem with her just because she has earned a name for herself in a very short span of time.

Fareeda’s miseries aren’t coming to an end. Her in laws’ demands are never ending. She is supposed to do everything for them but they won’t budge. I just so wish that they hadn’t shown Shaukat as such a spineless person who has no say of his own whatsoever. He’s a typical spoiled mama’s boy who would do everything his mama tells him to do. Najma is getting married & we’re thrilled for her, but it looks like she is not going to go away silently. She will get herself noticed & that is why I just couldn’t stop hating her this time around too.

I do like the fact that even though Fareeda has no support of her husband & her in laws, she keeps on doing things related to her professional life every now & then because that makes her happy. She got her book published without any sort of help of anyone & that was good to see that she is finally trying to manage both aspects of her life & is also paying attention to her career. Even though she doesn’t write anymore, she is still somehow connected to those people who were a part of her professional life & that means she still has a margin of bouncing back whenever she feels like.

I actually thought that Fareeda’s MIL would somehow change because now she has no other option left than to rely on Fareeda but she is incapable of being nice. Now all of a sudden when her husband had an accident, she wanted Fareeda to write because she knows she can easily bring in some bucks. I just don’t understand why doesn’t Shaukat work? If Sajida had used half of the brains to train her son to be responsible, I am sure Shaukat would’ve been an entirely different person. Apparantely, Sajida had the guts to indirectly order Fareeda to write so that she could bear the expenses but she couldn’t care less & tell her son that he needs to work so that he could support his family?

Even though Fareeda has started writing again but I hope this doesn’t make her accept this as a compensation granted from Shaukat & his family. Yes, she knows that they are depending on her & she got permission just because they wanted to get benefitted from it, but I hope Fareeda doesn’t push herself too hard just so that she can help her in laws. Yes, she was passionate about writing like she has always been & she wanted to continue it even after her marriage but now when she has gotten a chance, Fareeda should understand that her in laws are counting on her & just because she got permitted, she would allow them to walk over her just so that she could pursue her passion.

Isn’t it too bad that Fareeda’s thinking she has hit a jackpot just because she’d get to work under Mazhar Hayat but little does she know that he is only going to give her a tough time because he already has preconceived notions about her. I hope Fareeda takes a decision with finality because looks like even her attempts of helping her in laws financially won’t earn her respect from them. I totally love Fareeda’s parents & find them genuine but their repetitive reminders about Farhaan’s college fee & Shakeela’s wedding are ticking me off. Yes, they are depending on Fareeda, we know it but that doesn’t mean there has to be a scene or two dedicated to this already-crammed reminder. This episode was a lot more happening then a couple of previous episodes. I just want to see what future has in store for Fareeda. Share your thoughts please.

Digest Writer – Episode 15!

Just when we anticipate if there’s a margin of something unexpected to happen, they always surprise us with something totally unpredicted. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode because now we can see a balance forming between Fareeda’s personal & professional life. Even though both her lives are parallel for now but I am sure that’s going to change very soon.

I really feel for Fareeda. Previously when she used to sulk over losing Shehryaar, to be honest, I thought it wasn’t required because Fareeda imposed this marriage on herself but after seeing how Shaukat treats her, I actually understand why she thinks of Shehryaar every now & then. I think more than anything, she actually misses the way he used to value her talent, how he used to appreciate her for what she was good at. Shehryaar & Fareeda actually connected to each other on a different level & unfortunately, Shaukat hasn’t been able to replace that bond. It is a human psyche that you always remember the things, people & relations that made you happy in the past if your present is as dull & dour, therefore Fareeda is forced to think of what could’ve been after she has experienced what has happened.

Fareeda’s MIL is a despicable woman & so is her son; Shaukat. What she did & how she reacted every single time was an accurate picture of how typical people treat their DIL’s like. I actually was surprised when they revealed that Fareeda was expecting a child, this was totally unexpected but I think it adds another dimension to the story. I found the whole name-game very convincing & real because this is what mostly happens. Even if the MIL is not happy at the birth of a grand-daughter, she wouldn’t allow her DIL to have a satisfaction of naming her child. Sajida thinks that the birth of a baby girl isn’t worth celebrating, therefore she doesn’t allow Fareeda to share the happiness with her neighbours but very conveniently she swoops in & snatches away what could’ve been the happiest moment of Fareeda’s maternal life which was; naming her very first child, her daughter. Sajida obviously feels nothing for her granddaughter but she wants to name her Surraiya, after her own mother & yes, I must say that whole mithai distribution scene was so emotional; it actually pulled the strings. :/

I was really missing the interactions between Fareeda & her siblings & I am so glad this episode covered that too. It was really sweet of Farhaan to share his thoughts with Fareeda & acknowledge what she does for him. I was actually really happy to see Shakeela too. Of all the people, most wise & supportive Shakeela knows about Shehryaar. She seemed genuinely concerned for Fareeda because she can see her sister isn’t happy & Shakeela exactly knows why. Yes, I think she was right, if only Fareeda had spoken about Shehryaar, things would’ve been completely different but sadly, it has been turned into a wishful thinking & there’s nothing more to it.

I must say, Anwar is my favourite father figure from the recent dramas that I’ve seen. I remember when Digest Writer began, we all thought he was one of those staunch & typical fathers who only cared for his son & not his daughter but the way he has changed & actually voices out his guilt & grief by looking at the suffering of his daughter Fareeda makes him a very genuine & sincere father. The way he tells Zarina to take care of Fareeda so that she can rest for a while actually goes to show that he has been scarred by what he did to his daughter & he blames himself completely seeing how she is facing the repercussions of his decision. I really like Fareeda’s whole family because they actually seem genuine & real. They’ve always stood by each other in tough times & have celebrated together in happy times. Isn’t it good to see that Fareeda’s parents didn’t just get her married to cut her off from the family, but they are actually worried for her wellbeing more than ever. This makes me think that if Fareeda’d ever decide to part her ways with Shaukat, her parents wouldn’t judge her because they know she has tried really hard & has given everything she could to save this marriage but her in-laws didn’t value & respect her, so when the time arises, I am sure Fareeda’s parents will support her decision & stand by her no matter what.

Ohkay so, Mazhar Hayat thinks digest writers don’t make good drama writers & he doesn’t approve of their thought process. He thinks dramas are meant to be written by the seasoned writers because he himself has seen how much he had to struggle because of these newbies, so now when he is in a position, he only wants to confine this niche for the drama writers only. I thought that the channel head forgot about his decision of signing a 2 drama deal with Rushk-e-Hina but fortunately he remembered. & oh this reminds me of what I said about Mazhar Hayat as it was proven right this time, I knew he would cause harm to Fareeda’s writing career. Obviously, for now she herself has taken a break but I am sure when she will decide to make a comeback, Mazhar Hayat would do everything to resist it. It’s good to see that Fareeda now has a few supporters within the channel itself, so I am sure the day she’ll decide to write again, she will be welcomed with open arms.

So, this is what this episode was all about. I am glad that the pace is picking up after a couple of slower episodes which I didn’t mind at all. I don’t know if Mahroosh has a considerable role to play or she is just added in the drama to depict what goes behind the cameras. She’s an opportunist, who’s even ready to keep up with an oldie like Mazhar Hayat for the sake of her career. She’s over ambitious & wouldn’t mind bonding with a man of Mazhar’s age to get herself ahead in her acting career. Till now she hasn’t contributed to the story so let’s see if it’s meant to be that way or it will change in the upcoming episodes.

I liked the way Fareeda’s hairstyling & dressing changed as they showed the passage of time. Attention to detail has been the strength of this play since day one so I am glad they didn’t just stick to one look & forgot about it. They’ve kept on experimenting with not only Fareeda’s but everyone’s looks to suit the circumstances which I really really like. Just in the previous episode Fareeda was all glammed up to suit the image of a newly wedded girl but now she was seen in very simple suits & neatly tied bun to show that she’s a home-maker who has a responsibility of household chores on her. I must say the one who is responsible for the styling of all the characters has done a commendable job. It was a great episode & I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I am sure these parasite-like in-laws (FIL excluded) still have some more show time left but I hope Fareeda packs them up & gets rid of them soon. Share your thoughts please.

Digest Writer – Episode 14!

Hmmm, even though the pace of the story has become a bit slow but there are some developments that are still happening in the side tracks. For now the main focus of the drama has shifted on Fareeda’s personal life & her predicament. Her ordeals have just begun & no one knows how long she will have to face such hardships.

It’s a done deal that Shaukat is not a perfect match for Fareeda. They both are two different people because they have nothing in common, nor Shaukat tries to understand Fareeda neither he wants to work on his marriage. He has gotten what he wanted all his life & now he is just treating Fareeda as a lifeless possession who he thinks will always remain under his control. He has turned out to be a very typical husband & only thinks his wife is bound to take care of the household chores because he has seen his mother & sisters do the same thing all his life, which is why he cannot relate to what writing means to Fareeda. Being a writer doesn’t help Fareeda at all because of that, she faces another round of taunts from each & every person in her in-laws. They’ve proved that they’re typical to be bone & they actually expect Fareeda to do everything for them whereas they are not giving her any reason to respect them at all.

Right now, all Fareeda’s family is left with is a sense of regret because it only took them a visit to Shaukat’s place to understand what Fareeda is going through. I really felt bad for Anwar & Zarina because they actually feel responsible for ruining Fareeda’s life but sadly, they can do nothing to redeem it & also they are somehow still financially dependent on Fareeda, which makes Zarina a lot more worried as well.

It was good to see that at least Fareeda on her own is trying to do everything that her husband & his family demands. Even though she wasn’t happy with this marriage but she has walked past the heartbreak & she is being dutiful to them which is why she was seen speaking to Shaukat about what she feels & what she wants but it’s pretty evident that Shaukat has an inferiority complex & he knows that he has gotten such a partner with whom his mental wavelength doesn’t match, that is why he thinks the best way to deal with her is to snub her every single time because he knows he will never have a logical answer to her questions. Fareeda is mentally mature & groomed whereas Shaukat is not, that is why he only speaks to her so brusquely because he has been brought up like that.

At least Fareeda does have a well-wisher in her home & that is her father in law but why does it always happen that a soft spoken, decent father in law never gets a chance to speak up for the right & is always snubbed by his outspoken nagging wife? Shaukat’s father knows that his son is not at par with Fareeda but still she is proving herself to be a good daughter in law & a good wife, which is why he feels it’s unfair that no one is ready to acknowledge her efforts. I am glad that Anwar & Zarina confronted Appa because she needs to know that Fareeda still has someone who’d take a stand for her. Is it just me or you really feel like smacking Najma every time she opens her mouth? & oh another confusion that we had was clarified that Shauakat has 3 sisters whereas Shabana is out of the scene but the eldest sister of his has swooped in out of nowhere.

Well on the professional front, Fareeda’s written drama has brought in record breaking ratings & the channel was ready to sign 2 more dramas with her but sadly, she backed out for now because she doesn’t know if Shaukat & his family would allow her or not. Same goes for her fans who used to read her stories, they’re missing their favourite writer Rushk-e-Hina & want to read her amazing work. Rida Anmol & Sikandar tried to use Mazhar Hayat to hijack Fareeda’s forte which is romantic love stories but luckily for them, after they got in touch with him, Mazhat Hayat now has become an in charge of the channel’s script department which means that they will get their scripts approved by him with ease plus he has already decided to work with them for one of their dramas. I don’t know why but I feel this venture will somehow bring them back in the game & then this will be the moment where Fareeda & Mazhar Hayat will come across each other because being a script department’s head, it’s imperative that Mazhar Hayat will go through Fareeda’s writing before approving it & they both will become each other’s competitors.

I feel ever since Fareeda has suffered from a heart break, the pace of the drama has been compromised upon but still I am sure there’s a lot more to come that’s why I have complete faith in this drama & it’s story. Share your thoughts please. :)

Digest Writer – Episode 13!

Ohkay so, honestly speaking I would’ve felt a lot for Fareeda if she had decided to get married to Shaukat after she had met Shehryaar. She is in a severe depression; why? Because she ‘assumed’ Shehryaar wouldn’t accept her after he’d get to know about her. Ohkay fine, Fareeda took that decision in her senses but then what’s with the regret? She should be happy that she did good by Shehryaar & also saved herself from getting embarrassed which is why to see her lingering with the guilt of what she has lost in the form of Shehryaar doesn’t make sense because no one forced her to opt for Shaukat in the first place.

I don’t understand why everyone always emphasizes on ‘tumhari story ke hero jaisa larka’. I think they shouldn’t have shown so many people confusing fiction with reality. Just because a person has a strong imagination & is capable of giving words to the imaginative world, doesn’t mean their reality would exactly be like how they perceive life in their dreamy world. Bint-e-Hawa also assumed that Fareeda would be getting married to a guy similar to the characters she has written in her novels which didn’t seem appropriate because Bint-e-Hawa knows which social background Fareeda belongs to & just because she asked her such a question, Fareeda resorted to lying because she was ashamed of letting everyone know that her real-life partner is opposite to her fictional-life heroes.

I think they changed the actor who was playing a role of Shaukat’s married sister because the former one was shown as a sensible person but somehow they decided to add some spice to her character & now she was looking like a typical nand waiting to hog benefits from her bhabhi. I knew Appa was incapable of being good but I never thought she would change colors so quickly. I felt bad for Fareeda’s parents because now Appa will exploit & taunt them every single time if they would do something beneath her expectations.

I honestly felt bad for Shehryaar in the previous episode but just one dialogue from him this time was enough to kill the sympathy that I had for him. I really don’t understand how can a person be so shallow that he’d judge someone else based on what their name is? Shehryaar found Anwar Ali’s name bizarre because it was common & simple which made me say that whatever was happening to Shehryaar is exactly what he deserved. I am glad he didn’t decide to make a scene at Fareeda’s wedding & left quietly. I must say I would’ve felt a lot for Fareeda if she had faced blunt rejection from Shehryaar but just because she didn’t give him a fair chance, I don’t feel for Fareeda either & I think we’ve been deprived of seeing what the true face of Shehryaar was; was he really this shallow as we all thought or was he any better? I feel we really won’t be able to form a definite opinion about him but may be there’s a reason why this track was left in the lurch. May be there’s a chance that they’ll get to rekindle their relation in future because the way Fareeda’s in-laws have started to treat her, it’s highly unlikely that her marriage to Shaukat would last that long.

Finally, Shaukat got what he wanted but I wasn’t amused to see him in this episode because I know what sort of plans he had in his mind for Fareeda but let me ask, which groom falls like that in front of his bride? LOL! Only Shaukat can do that. He isn’t as simple minded as he poses to be because the way he informed Fareeda of what he was expecting from her really showed how tactful he is. I am sure he will keep on sweet-talking her into doing things that only he’d approve of. Let’s see what happens next. The episode was good but a bit on the slower side. I hope they don’t give much coverage to Fareeda’s depression but rather show us what measures she’d take to shape up her life from now on & oh I loved the crisp quality & vibrant colors of this episode in particular & loved the camera angles also. Digest Writer – Episode 12!

Ohkay, I know it will come as a shock to a lot of readers but I am so disappointing with Fareeda this time. What she did to herself was absolutely wrong. After watching this episode, I now find both Sherhryaar & Fareeda at fault. Shehryaar; because he never really tried to get to know who Rushk-e-Hina was & Fareeda because she didn’t give benefit of doubt to Shehryaar at all. Yes, he was always very vocal about what he was looking for in his life partner but Fareeda kept on giving him wrong impression too without making an effort to tell him to truth. If she was so conscious in the first place, why did she allow Shehryaar to get interested in her & more so, why did she do this to herself as well?

I find Fareeda wrong this time because even if she decided to meet Shehryaar to reveal her reality, why did she back out? I now feel both of them allowed the assumptions to get the best of them because of which, they kept on making irrational decisions. Shehryaar was obviously at fault because he kept on burdening her with his criterions without ever giving her a chance to speak up but Fareeda followed the course blindly as well. Now when all of a sudden the reality struck her & left her bewildered, she at least should have explained everything to Shehryaar after meeting him & so that they both could’ve taken a mutual decision because no matter how self-centred or immature Shehryaar must be, he doesn’t deserve to be blindsided like this & Fareeda does owe an explanation to him. I feel if Fareeda wanted to back out because she didn’t find herself at par with him, she should’ve done it properly because it’s unfair that in a relation, only one person gets to make a decision & the other is left in a state of oblivion for the rest of his life.

I found Shaukat’s proposal very sincere. I like him for who he is but still, I don’t think he matches the calibre of Fareeda at all. He now promised her that he would change himself & would do everything that she likes but Shaukat needs to understand that it won’t be easy because no matter how much he’d try, how far would be he able to push himself to match her level? How much effort would he make to change himself completely? He might be a good person on his own but in comparison to Fareeda, he’s a lot less worthy.

Another disappointment that I faced was when Fareeda agreed to Shaukat’s proposal, not because she agreed but because she wasn’t happy about it. If Fareeda knows deep down that she can’t tolerate Shaukat’s presence & she won’t ever be able to bring herself to like him, then why did she jump into the pitfall consciously & willingly? No matter how incompatible Shaukat must be to her, he surely doesn’t deserve a wife who won’t be able to respect or love him. Shaukat might have his own issues but he has always been very sincere to her, so if she can’t reciprocate the exact same feelings, then she shouldn’t have agreed to this marriage as well.

The way Anwar dealt with Fareeda showed that Appa’s taunt struck a chord this time & it was enough for Anwar to lose his cool. I think if Appa wouldn’t have pressurized Anwar, Fareeda must’ve gotten a wee bit time to think more about what she wanted to do with her relationship with Shehryaar but just because she was being compelled, she took a wrong & hasty decision. I thought Appa actually meant all those promises that she made with Zareena & Fareeda but too bad, she is going to become a typical ‘saas’. I really thought it was only Najma who had issues with Fareeda but Appa’s display of happiness & sincerity was too good to be true as well.

Looks like Rida & Sikandar are facing a downfall in their careers with a recent flop drama & Ayaan Junaid is going to enjoy the benefit of depending on Rushk-e-Hina which means that he will now rely more on her & this will bring her a good name in the industry but too bad, going by the preview of next episode, looks like Fareeda will have to deal with a lot in her new home, which might put a kibosh on her writing career temporarily. It actually came as a shock that Shaukat changed with a blink of an eye. I actually feel bad for Fareeda because she doesn’t deserve what she will go through. Looks like she will lead the rest of her life in regret; regret of not being able to tell the truth to Shehryar, regret of rejecting him & regret of getting married to Shaukat. I hope her life shapes up well & from now on she takes sensible decisions even if it means getting divorced from Shaukat, which I can foresee because we’re through 12 episodes only, phew!

The episode was good like always but I really felt bad seeing how Fareeda slowly destroyed her life with her own hands. Zareena’s concern for Fareeda was so heart-warming because deep down she knows this pretty well that Fareeda might get a hard time in Shaukat’s home but she chose to keep it unsaid as she respected her husband’s decision more. Jameela looked really pretty & her new overdo is enough to show that she’s leading a good life after getting married. :) Share your thoughts please.

Digest Writer – Episode 11!

I so don’t want to sound monotonous but I love the way the story of Digest Writer is unfolding. It’s like they have a clear pattern where they deal with one thing at a time. First it was Fareeda’s professional life that shaped up & when that was taken care of, they moved onto her personal life where things have started falling into perspective too. I give credit to the whole creative team for dramatizing such an amazing script so tastefully & intelligently, which is why this drama is nothing short of a treat to tune into. We’re 11 episodes down & every single episode has had a steady pace with different scenarios every single time, which is perfect because it’s been a long time we’ve seen such a strong script with so much of content in it.

Like we all dreaded, Appa has her sights on Fareeda’s talent with which she is being able to help her father & is contributing a lot in the household expenses. It was the same Pupho who opposed Fareeda’s writing by calling it a shameful display of her imagination but like Fareeda said, money changes everything; circumstances & the people as well & the way Appa’s attitude has changed, she’s a perfect example of it.

I think Fareeda made the right decision by parting ways with Shehryaar as they both are two different people. For the first time, we also got to know that Shehryaar is not only rigid but he wants everything to happen his way, which is why he was getting ticked off when Fareeda straight away ignored his wish of meeting him in person. This guy for sure lives in his own imaginary world & he is one of those who won’t give a benefit of doubt to anyone, which is why after Fareeda distanced herself from him, he kept on pressurizing her in every way possible just so that he can get what he wants.

I liked the fact that Fareeda addressed the main questions that were bothering her. She knows she can never meet Shehryaar’s standards because like she told her friend, she has sort of tried to understand him a bit & after all that, what she deduced was that they both are not compatible. I know Fareeda blames herself & her social standing for all this but I so wish someone could tell her that it’s not Fareeda who should be ashamed of herself; it’s Sheheryar who’s to be blamed because he didn’t allow her to tell him everything about her. He didn’t give her a chance to open up & share the reality of her life with him. I feel for Fareeda a lot more because the guilt she has, has got nothing to do with her but she is unnecessarily holding herself responsible for it.

Oh boy! I must say, I love the way Fareeda dealt with Rida Anmol. Like Shakeela said, times have changed for Fareeda & for good, which is why she knew how she had to tackle Rida Anmol as now she was depending on Fareeda. Their show-down was done brilliantly which really made me proud of Fareeda, haha. I can’t wait to see how Rida Anmol would react when she will get to know that Ayaan Junaid has given Fareeda the break she wanted. I think now when Mahroosh is working in the same drama that Fareeda has written, Mazhar will somehow get associated with her in some way.

I really hated the way Appa tried to make Anwar feel guilty of how he was depending on Fareeda more than needed. I think instead of worrying about what happens in Anwar’s home, she should worry about Najma’s wedding. I really think Fareeda will give in & get married to Shaukat but this will give rise to another set of problems in the duo of ma-beta because Appa would want Fareeda to write like before so that she can bring in some big bucks whereas Shaukat wouldn’t approve of it because as per him, ladies shouldn’t work. I think this episode shed a light on another major issue perfectly which people of this social class face frequently. No one wants a well-educated daughter-in-law because they have certain criterions that the girl should fit & they are only related to the household chores they expect the girl to take care of when she becomes a part of their family. In this case, Appa & Shaukat both have obviously given thumbs up to Fareeda’s mindset & her approach in life but still, she is way out of Shaukat’s league. I hope for her sake he proves to be a good husband & Appa doesn’t bother her much like a typical saas, which I am sure she will but I hope Fareeda continues to take stand for her like she does now.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode as well & can’t wait to see what happens when Fareeda will finally go to meet Sherhyaar & oh I noticed that they have shown some changes in both Fareeda & Shakeela’s wardrobes & even Zareena & Anwar’s dressing has improved, which is again a very little detail but sheds a light on how well Fareeda is taking care of her family & for these intricate but well-thought details, I give this team a shout out & oh, is it just me or Saba Qamar actually looked really pretty in this episode in particular & especially in the white kurta that she wore in the scene where she was conversing with Shakeela? Share your thoughts on this episode & these minor details as well. :)

Digest Writer – Episode 10!

Ohkay so, like always, this episode was interesting too. I see a lot of developments in all the tracks which are enough to keep the viewers hooked to the show. Apparently, Digest Writer’s slot has been shifted to Saturdays, which doesn’t surprise me at all because I am sure the appreciation this project is getting is evident &  well deserved so this was just another move by the channel to get it more recognized & appreciated.

So, where Fareeda’s professional life is shaping up well, her personal life has turned upside down because of Sheheryar Ahmed. I know they’ve kept his character a lot more decent than usually those stalkerish fans are but sorry he sounds like a creep to me because he is so deluded & then he makes a fool out of himself by saying his experience lets him know everything. First thing first, he has never tried to know who Rashk-e-Hina is, he has only judged her by how she has adorned the papers to make her novels & then he claims she’s all he has ever wanted & dreamed of. I have never seen Shehryar trying to know who Rashk-e-Hina is, how is she as a person but instead he has only burdened her with his imagination where he thinks she is her ideal who has traveled all over the world, belongs to an elite class & has a sound background. Even this time around, the personal questions he asked were related to her father & his background, which shows that these things really matter to him, but what doesn’t matter is the person he is speaking to & that is Fareeda.

Sadly, may be because it was the first time she got such an impressive attention, Fareeda allowed herself to fall for Shehryar & it seems she had no control over her emotions & she let her feelings sway her, which is why she kept her reality concealed all this while but to be honest, I don’t think Shehryar’s worth it because for the first time we saw Fareeda being ashamed of who she is. She has always dreamed big & even is working hard to reach her goal but if a guy like Sheheryar is the reason for which she thinks low of herself & her circumstances then he’s not worth it. Obviously, she has started maintaining a distance but I think it would be appropriate for Fareeda to tell him everything honestly & then judge him instead, rather than being conscious of herself & her social standing. It wasn’t Fareeda who invited his attention with his rigid one dimensional thinking & a lot of stamps on his passports that mark his journeys which allow him to brag & think he has garnered a lot of experience with which he can judge a book by its cover. I think if he is so uncompromising when it comes to these criterions he has set for his bride-to-be, then good luck to him, he should really part ways with Fareeda.

Like any typical mother, Appa thought Shaukat ko nazar lag gai. :) May be because for the first time his hair weren’t greasy & he had his hair tamed that’s why people might’ve gotten attracted to the guy who wore a parrot green shirt to his sister’s wedding. :) I always have such a good laugh whenever I see Shaukat as he’s one of a kind. I couldn’t stop smiling seeing his persistence at Jameela’s wedding too. He is so in love with Fareeda but for what it’s worth, he actually cares for her & if I draw a comparison between Sheheryar & Shaukat, I believe Shaukat is far more genuine than Mr. Traveler here. At least Shaukat has seen Fareeda’s worst side & still doesn’t judge her. Even though he didn’t want Fareeda to work but he tried to console her when he got to know how Rida Anmol deceived her. I know it’s also a reality that he isn’t as groomed & refined to match Fareeda’s standards but I still feel he’s a good human being. I so hope that just because Appa has learned how much money Fareeda’s making, she doesn’t start bothering her & consider it as a perk of getting Shaukat married to Fareeda because now she knows that the hobby of Fareeda, she always dissed, is actually allowing her to do good for herself & her family.

I know it could be wrong but I don’t know why I have a feeling Mazhar Hayat will try to jeopardize Rashk-e-Hina’s career. He’s already having a hard time in the industry because no channel is ready to dramatize his scripts & now Mahroosh also hurt his ego by comparing him to a new writer that he has always looked down upon & by demanding him to write something of that sort, so I feel he won’t take it lightly & somehow we’ll see some sort of professional jealousy between Mazhar Hayat & Fareeda. Another angle that they’ve tried to show is how actresses these days keep the writers wrapped around their fingers just so that they can bag good roles. It was the same Mahroosh who was celebrating Mazhar’s birthday & now here she was, throwing all sorts of tantrums because she knows he’s lonely & needs her attention but she doesn’t & that makes me wonder where Mazhar’s family is that he once thought of.

& yes, last but not the least; it was a pure delight seeing Rida Anmol’s frustration & ordeal. Sikandar & Rida really thought there was no chance for Fareeda & she will always remain dependent on them but little did they know what sort of opportunity was waiting for her. Rida knows herself that script writing is a tough job but she really thought she could throw a few bucks & get the job done but too bad for her, Fareeda’s struggling days are numbered & she is on her way towards success which Rida will herself see.

So, this is it from my side, really enjoyed this episode as well & yes, I must say this, I loved Zareena’s makeover at Jameela’s wedding, it was sooo cute & she looked so sweet. Shakeela & Fareeda looked really nice too but Zareena stole the show this time & yes, Zareena is very clean-hearted that’s why she thought Appa was actually trying to appreciate how things have changed in her household because of which she told her everything about how much Fareeda’s earning, too bad Zareena didn’t know that Appa was only there to pry & she’s not as much of a well-wisher as she claims to be. So, that’s all. Please share your thought about this episode of Digest Writer & let me know how much you enjoyed watching it.

Digest Writer – Episode 09!

Oh wow! I just love the timing of this play. The pace is absolutely brilliant & I think that’s the strength of this play as well. Just when I was feeling bad for Fareeda, I got to see something amazing that makes me want to watch the next episode RIGHT NOW. I absolutely love how every single episode is so engaging & is packed with so many little surprises that unfold at a perfect time & that makes this drama worth a watch & a lot more enjoyable. :)

Rida Anmol knows how to play with people & their feelings, that’s why she weaved a perfect trap for Fareeda to give in. As much as Rida wants to ignore the fact that Fareeda’s talented, she actually can’t & this is exactly why she tried to buy her way into her stardom again using a shortcut, that she is currently enjoying due to Fareeda’s hard work. It was pretty obvious that Fareeda wouldn’t agree to work for her but just the mention of a big amount made her family rethink their feelings that they had for Rida Anmol. It’s bitter but true that at times you really can’t do much but have to persuade yourself to do what others want even if it means leaving a dent on your soul. I am sure Fareeda’s family wouldn’t have cared much if Jameela’s wedding was out of the picture but it was obvious, with her wedding approaching, they found it as a right opportunity to convince Fareeda to take the deal that Rida offered.

I must say the thing which I enjoy the most is the growth they’ve shown in Fareeda’s character. Even though she is still the same day-dreamer who enjoys giving words to her feelings, but a few reality checks have compelled her to be more cautious & this is why she kept a firm hand in dealing with Rida because she knows as much as her family is depending on her, Rida Anmol is as well & that was enough of a satisfaction for Fareeda that she dealt with a conniving person like Rida in a language that she understands a little too well & also because Fareeda knows that she now can’t allow Rida to take her for granted just because Fareeda’s is unable to do anything about it.

I think as much as all the conversations are written beautifully, the best ones are between Fareeda & her Father. I love how Anwar time to time always lets Fareeda know how much he supports her but the way he extended his plea in front of his daughter this time around really made me feel for him. He is helpless & even though he feels guilty, he knows he has to think past of it because Fareeda is the only one who could help him in the hour of need. As much as Anwar doesn’t want to burden his daughter with the things he is responsible to be taking care of, he still feels Fareeda is his strong support whom he can rely fearlessly upon & that makes their relation very real & beautiful at the same time.

Obviously, it was because of her family that Fareeda accepted the offer but to see her regretting putting the price on her imagination was genuinely heartrending. Fareeda hates to see this side of the reality where she was forced to sell her imaginary world just to fulfil the obligations of the real world that she lives in. Fareeda was shattered because even though everyone around her knew what her writing meant to her, they chose to overlook the fact that her skill was being exploited but like she said, she survives in such a world where people walk over others to reach the sky & all she could do was stay quiet without protesting because she was not in a position to do that & unfortunately, she wasn’t even allowed to do so.

I really think Shehryar is a dreamer too & I found him deluded this time around. As much as I appreciate his presence in Fareeda’s life & the way he values her, I think he really has set certain standards which he will never compromise upon. I think this is Shehryar’s fault where he is evaluating Fareeda on the basis of her words because the fact is; everyone knows that fiction is a result of someone’s imagination & not reality, so this makes me question Sheheryar’s take on Fareeda where he actually thinks that Fareeda has laid bare her real life in her stories. As much as he is getting carried away with the thought of having a partner like Fareeda, he should take a step back & allow her to reveal her reality to him.

Oh & yes, finally, Ayaan Junaid has made an appearance in Fareeda’s life & at such a perfect time which actually justifies the notion of never losing hope because you never really know what’s in store for you. Surprisingly, Fareeda didn’t have to say much to him because Ayaan already knew what Rida Anmol has transpired against Fareeda & the way she was using her once again. I don’t know what might happen in the future but he actually seemed sincere & honest while offering her to write for him right now & I really think, this was much needed after seeing Fareeda’s dismay in the last couple of episodes. I think good times are rolling for Fareeda now & I can’t wait to see more.

Yes, last but not the least I must say I love the way they’ve given a face to each & every character because it really makes them look real. I love how they’ve worked on the image of all the characters which tell a story of its own about each one of them. How Rida Anmol’s sharp eyebrows & coloured lens shed a light on her cunning & the dominant negative side of her nature. How Shaukat’s greasy messy hair shows his least bothered attitude in life. How Anwar’s taqiyah (Islamic cap) make him look like a responsible & a soft hearted father of 3 daughters. How some white strands of Zareena peeking through her shawl & her raw clean face tell a tale of her worries that she has in regards to her daughters. I don’t know how much of it makes sense but this is the way I see their images representing them, which I absolutely think is praise-worthy & for that I really appreciate the team that has worked on the appearances of the cast. So, this is it from my side for this week, do share your thoughts about this episode of Digest Writer, please. :)

Digest Writer – Episode 08!

Well, I must say this drama is nothing short of brilliance. Every episode so far has surprised us with something new. Even though it was a bit on a slower side this time around but nevertheless I enjoyed watching it because I am glad where they took their sweet time in showing Fareeda’s success, they’re taking some time in showing her downfall too. I think everything in this drama has been put together so well that makes it more like a perfect rollercoaster ride full of twists & turns.

Rida Anmol for sure is a conniving person & luckily she’s at a peak of her success where even if she’s wrong, no one is going to question her about it. Let’s just say it’s her time of glory for now but soon enough she will sow what she has reaped. It was Rida Anmol who really thought that writers are those people who really don’t deserve any sort of limelight but now when she is projecting herself as a writer; there she is, openly contradicting her own statement because she wants to get acknowledged too.

I never thought that Fareeda would make a call to Umm-e-Maryam but just because she was desperate to get accredited for her work, she did & as usual nothing came out of it because Umm-e-Maryam on her own was right that it was their personal matter & her say wouldn’t matter much. Once again, they shed a light on how channel owners these days only worry about ratings & they really don’t pay heed to what goes around because for them as far as they’re getting high TRP’s, that’s all that matters. It was pretty obvious that no one would believe Fareeda because Rida Anmol certainly has a reputation in the industry & no one would want to spoil their terms with her.

The journey of Fareeda for sure is very interesting. She resists her feelings from getting surfaced in front of her family & deals with her problems on her own. I am glad to see such a character of a female on-screen who is dignified, strong headed & confident in herself. Obviously, right now she has hit the rock bottom but soon enough we’ll see her bouncing back & garnering the energy she had when she just started. I liked the interactions of Shehryar & Fareeda a lot. Even though she’s excited to be getting an undivided attention of such a decent young man, she effortlessly hides that from him because she doesn’t want give an impression that she’s yearning for it, which shows that she’s a very professional & self-respecting person. As much as she wants to get acquainted with him, she is holding herself back because she still wants to maintain a distance due to her social background. Shehryar is obviously mistaking her to be someone she’s not & Fareeda doesn’t want to burst that bubble because she fears losing him but I am sure as the time will pass, even though Fareeda has resorted to lying, they both will get to know how compatible they are & I have a feeling that Shehryar will prove to be a strong support system for Fareeda.

I feel Jameela’s wedding couldn’t have come at a worst time because now the whole family would be in need of finances than ever before & Rida Anmol, who really had a hard time accepting the fact that people from such background do have some expenses will turn it into an opportunity for herself to get benefited from; by exploiting Fareeda for her vulnerability. I like the mental growth of Fareeda that where she knows she started writing out of sheer passion for it, she’s well aware of the fact that she now has to treat it more like a job & needs to be more dedicated towards it as her family has now started to depend on her. I must say the way Fareeda stands by her family & doesn’t want to quit no matter what she’s facing, makes her character a lot more inspirational & admirable.

I must say I always look forward to the scenes of Shakeela & Fareeda. Even though Shakeela is a supporting character but in literal sense she has always extended a support to Fareeda like a true sister, even if it means switching off the TV or showing her the light at the end of the tunnel & for that I admire her character a lot. Same goes for Shazia; her excitement & her wishful thinking is another treat to watch. & I must ask, what’s with Shaukat’s fixation to winged-birds’ imprinted shirts? Haha, I really love his clothing collection & actually look forward to what he’s going to be wearing in each episode, I find it as a best think about his whole personality & character & oh yes, by the way I’ve been trying to say this from last couple of episodes but I always forget to mention that I love the close-up shots of Saba Qamar’s hands; she really has those beautiful artistic & manicured hands which I like. :) All in all, I really enjoyed watching this episode & hope you did too. Digest Writer – Episode 07!

Ohkay so, I can’t get enough of this drama because each episode is interesting than the other. Every single time the drama shows some new developments & it keeps the viewers engaged. I think short scenes & the pace are the strength of this drama along with a very realistic approach on a story of a writer. I believe it’s the first time that we’ve being given an insight as to what goes behind the cameras & what it takes to make a good drama & such a journey is a delight to watch.

I know it’d sound surprising but in this episode I felt for Shaukat a lot. He is genuinely a nice guy who also has some weaknesses but the way he shows his concern for Fareeda & tries to rectify his mistakes actually portrays that he is a nice person. It’s his tough luck that Fareeda’s not interested in him because let’s get honest, she is way out of his league & Shaukat is in a strong denial of this fact. Even after Fareeda has told him a million times that she won’t get married to him, he remains persistent & tries his luck but one thing that’s worth a mention is that apart from her own family, it was only Shaukat who tried to console Fareeda when she was going through a hard time & for this he definitely earns some bonus points.

Sadly, Fareeda’s worst nightmares have materialized because she had to experience what she, never in her dreams, had thought of. Rida Anmol obviously backstabbed her & took credit for her hard work. I thought in this tough time, a little gesture by Bint-e-Hawa would at least serve as a little compensation but too bad, Rida Anmol & Sikandar are a strong team because they’ve survived in this industry for a long long time & they very well know how to mend the ways in their favour.

It was obvious that nobody would trust Fareeda & because of that she backed out but it was Bint-e-Hawa who guided her rightly. I felt for Fareeda a lot as well not only because she had made some promises to Jameela but solely because she lost motivation for writing. I think this brunt will serve as a good opportunity for Fareeda because she will bounce back & eventually will end up meeting the right person who will value her talent. A little utterance of Manzar Hayat also showed that commercialism has overwhelmed this industry. He was determined on not changing the script but then like anybody else, he had financial obligations to tend to & this sheds a light on the fact that often producers force the writers to make some changes that they’re not comfortable with. It was somehow also a depiction of the writers’ helplessness because eventually they end up submitting to the demands of the producers & the channels.

Finally, Fareeda has given an edge to Shehryar because he seems completely smitten by her mental calibre. Obviously, he was the reason that forced Fareeda to make an ID but the way she posed as if she has been very busy was rather sweet. Her excitement was evident yet she didn’t want to give him a hint of such sort. I can’t wait to see how their track unfolds.

The preview of next episode seemed really interesting. Rida Anmol would try to hire Fareeda because she knows she’s talented as well as this is her only way of making money, so let’s see what decision would she make & finally her mystery fan will make an appearance too. Can’t wait to find out more. Thoroughly enjoyed this episode of Digest Writer as well & I must say it’s a very intelligent script writing where each card is being revealed at a relevant time. Digest Writer – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, I must say I love the way every episode offers something different & then the scenario keeps on revolving around the new developments. This play is definitely a breath of fresh air not only because of a different story but because of a perfect approach with which it has been executed. I think it’s needless to say but now I eagerly wait for Sundays so that I can watch Digest Writer.

Ohkay so where Fareeda tasted what it is like to be appreciated & acknowledged, she also was exposed to new set of problems that aspiring writers face in their journey towards success. Fareeda never thought that a renowned & financially stable person like Rida Anmol would back out on paying her what she deserves. I think very aptly they showed that while sitting in their cozy comfortable lounge room with all the luxuries at their feet, Rida & Sikandar couldn’t relate to Fareeda’s state of mind as to why she was so keen on getting paid & all they did was just pass some misapprehended comments about people belonging to such background. I thought Sikandar might be decent & different but seems like he’s anything but that as well. Obviously, he’s oblivious of what his wife was planning all along but I didn’t expect him to be so inconsiderate where he’d question about why people from the lower middle class would need all that money for?

I really felt for Fareeda when she kept her feelings to herself because she knew that it wasn’t worth bothering her mother for her issues. Fareeda is definitely working so hard as she knows that her family has not only supported her but is now considerably dependent on her as well. I really appreciate Fareeda’s character for the fact that she is a very dignified yet a very selfless person because she wasn’t concerned about how & why Rida treated her like a stranger but her only concern was Jameela & her contribution in her happiness.

I must say the way they are opening new horizons for Fareeda is very appreciable & interesting. Like I said before that Fareeda’s journey is a perfect example of how ‘one thing leads to another’. She never would’ve thought that she’d stumble upon a famous actor Ayaan Junaid that she had only seen on the TV. I really liked the discussion Fareeda & her siblings had post her meeting with Ayaan. They sounded so much like regular TV viewers who have different preconceived notions about such celebrities. I also love the way Shakeela always teases Jameela, it’s very genuine, real & portrays how sisters in actual treat each other. :) I think Ayaan will obviously play an important role in Fareeda’s journey because he actually saw what happened there & he was vigilant enough to understand that Rida has purely used Fareeda for her benefit & she’s still unaware of it.

I must say I loved the way things are shaping up for Fareeda’s family. Jameela has found a decent partner for herself & it is good to see that Zareena & Anwar now speak on behalf of Fareeda whenever Appa says something about Fareeda & Shaukat’s marriage. They now know that Fareeda isn’t keen on getting married as she has certain dreams that she is chasing. I think it gives out a very nice message to all the parents that no matter what their kids want to do, the parents should always accept & then support their passion.

I once again loved Shaukat’s golden & blue shirt, it was spot on & somehow depicts his thinking & nawabi nature perfectly. The way he refused to eat mithai the moment his father told him off went to show that he’s such an attention seeker & doesn’t like being dictated. He’s a very different character & I find him a very fresh addition to this drama. Obviously, his only objective is to earn Fareeda but too bad for him, he’s not the one for her.

So, that’s it from my side, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode as well. The acting’s perfect & so is the direction. The scenes are to the point & the way story’s unfolding is just brilliant. I really enjoy watching this drama & can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about this episode of Digest Writer. Share your say please. :)

Digest Writer – Episode 05!

Wow, I must say I am impressed with this drama & the whole story. Really glad that they’ve selected such a nice subject & have materialized it with perfection. I must say all the actors have done a brilliant job, no matter how big or small their roles are but everyone contributes in making this drama a complete package & for this, the credit also goes to the director for really directing the whole cast so well that they all gave their 100%.

I think the support Fareeda’s getting from her parents teaches a great lesson that no matter what the passion of a child is, parents should always be supportive of their kids. Both Anwar & Zareena have seen that Fareeda isn’t just wasting her time but because of her imagination & a flow of beautifully written words, she is capable of making a life out of it. Especially, I feel that the way Anwar showed his acceptance was heart-warming. Initially he did allow Fareeda to write because he saw that she was getting paid for it but other than that, he did take some time to actually understand his daughter’s intentions & now he feels that it needs to be respected irrespective of the amount she earns, which was very sweet, especially seeing it coming from such a rigid person like Anwar.

I actually felt a lot for both Anwar & Zareena when they had to share their financial limitations with Appa. They seemed so embarrassed & helpless to be admitting it in front of her that they are kind of dependent on the payments that Fareeda gets. It was indeed good to see that Appa understood the circumstances & felt that she should leave it at that without interfering in their personal matters as she got the hint that her nosiness was putting her brother & sister in law in an awkward position. I think this also goes to show that those who can’t help their people with anything shouldn’t also become a burden on them by being a moral police because no one can run things in someone else’s household. Everyone is entitled to lead the life the way they want to & Fareeda was doing all that with her parent’s support, so the say of Appa was totally uncalled for.

I think the way they’ve shown how commercialism has hit the drama industry through this drama is praise worthy. I really liked that they have covered all those factors that are involved in making a drama. There are still those people who take their writings seriously & won’t budge on the quality. There are still such writers who feel that the quality of the dramas has deteriorated but they seem helpless because at this point, everything is measured through the criteria of ratings. I really like that they’ve also introduced a well-reputed writer who is concerned because of the downfall of drama industry & the compromise that’s being done on the quality because the drama-makers don’t really treat dramas as entertainment anymore, but just as means of gaining profits. I think all the conversations on these lines were spot on because we’ve recently seen the influence of Indian dramas in our stories, so to actually show that a writer is concerned about such an issue also sheds a light that the people in the industry themselves are aware of this shameful prevailing trend.

I think Rida Anmol is making amends in the script purposely because then she can easily use it as an excuse to pose as a writer of the drama & she can also tell Fareeda that just because her script wasn’t good enough & she  put in a lot of effort herself, she couldn’t give any credit to her. I think Sikandar isn’t as conniving as Rida is. Yes, Sikandar was concerned that just because Fareeda is Rida’s find, no one else should get in contact with her because she has a potential but he also rightly said that Fareeda should be given the amount that she deserves. I think this will also serve as another reason for Rida to conceal Fareeda’s name as a writer & use hers instead so that no one else can approach her.

Ohkay so, who is this Sheheryar Ahmed, I am so interested to know? I think it was a very intricate detail but the way he sent the pen of the same brand that Fareeda once mentioned in her novel rightfully depicted the state of mind of a die-hard fan. Sheheryar is clearly in love with Fareeda’s imagination & going by what she has written in her stories, he finds her compatible. I really can’t wait to see who he is & I hope this remains a secret till his character is revealed so yes, I say that out loud that I ain’t looking for any spoiler alerts here. I really don’t know who the actor is & want to wait till it’s revealed in the drama.

I can’t praise Gohar Rasheed enough for acting out Shaukat so flawlessly. I loved all his scenes & can I just say that I liked his mirror-imaged parrot shirt as well? LOL! It really shows that he is so much into his character but yes, in this episode in particular, I kind of felt for him that even though Fareeda’s way out of his league, he does care for her & wants to make her happy, which to be honest makes him a good person.

So, this is what the whole episode was all about but I must say, as the episodes are progressing, it’s seemingly becoming more genuine & real. I feel I can connect to all the characters & more so, I can relate to them. I really like the timely nok-jhonk that they’ve shown between the sisters because it actually makes them look like a family. The way Shaukat spoke to Najma also showed that he’s one spoiled brat who only knows how to be a centre of attention & he feels he doesn’t have any responsibility towards his sisters. I lol’ed at the way he was like ‘le, kha, mar’, it was hilarious. The way Fareeda is not only enjoying her passion for writing but how she’s becoming more responsible towards her family with their support is also pictured beautifully. The way this family has stayed closely-knit in such hard times, really makes us look forward to the good times that they will get to enjoy because they certainly deserve it. I must say I really like the ‘one thing leads to another’ approach when it comes to Fareeda’s story because everything’s falling into place perfectly & the course of her life is unfolding beautifully.

I think may be because Umera Ahmed has worked on the script, she being modest must’ve edited out her name from the list of well-reputed writers that Fareeda often talks about. I think in this day & age, Umera Ahmed is not just a name but is a part of life of those who read her novels & watch her dramas only because her name is associated with it. I so wish they had included her name in that list too because she deserves it & as a small tribute, I dedicate this disclaimer to her because she’s more than just a writer for her fans like us.

So, that’s it from my side. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode & I am actually enjoying this drama a lot. I really look forward to it every week because it’s just the perfect amount of entertainment that we all were looking for. Share your thoughts on this episode of Digest Writer please. :)

Digest Writer – Episode 04!

Ohkay so, it was another enjoyable & well-directed episode of Digest Writer. I must say I am thoroughly enjoying watching this drama because it’s different, it has a unique story that revolves around a girl who is ambitious & yes, it has a perfect pace with to-the-point scenes. For a change, it’s really good to see a story of a girl who is concerned & determined only to make a career out of her passion & to add more to it, she has a support of her family as well.

Finally, Fareeda got what she wanted & that was an approval of her father to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Definitely, what made Anwar realize Fareeda’s worth was the advance payment Sikandar & Rida gave to her but keeping that aside he did understand that writing was a talent as well & the credit for making Anwar understand definitely goes to Jameela. As much as I enjoyed watching the scenes of Fareeda’s family where they got to enjoy an outdoor snack & a shopping spree sponsored by Fareeda, I really wish their mother was a bit fair & reasonable. I say that in context to how she treated Jameela in comparison to Fareeda. Zareena was never supportive of Fareeda but for obvious reasons, her attitude changed towards her but the way she treated & rather snapped at Jameela made me feel a lot for her because even though Jameela doesn’t contribute to the household expenses, she does her bit & in return only expects some acknowledgement, a little sympathy & some attention. Jameela on her own is definitely going through a hard time because she really wants to settle down & have a life of her own but to see her mother snapping at her wasn’t appeasing. Obviously, being a mother Zareena does think about Jameela’s wedding, which is why she was planning to gather some dowry & some gold ornaments for her, but she doesn’t really know that before all that, Jameela wants her attention & some words of appreciation the most. Amidst all this, it was good to see Fareeda taking care of her & taking some time out to make her realize that Shaukat wasn’t worth her tears.

I really loved Fareeda’s approach on getting paid. She knows that it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of her family so as a token of appreciation, she kept on making plans of how she can utilize her money to make her family feel better & happy. It included small plans like changing her study table, gathering stuff for Jameela, changing the furniture of her house & even some big ones where she dreams of having a place which she’d call as her home. But yes, Fareeda’s instinct has warned her of something about which sooner or later she will have to connect the dots. Obviously, Rida Anmol was kind enough to give a break to a newbie as she really was impressed with her work but just because Fareeda’s story was being appreciated, I am sure she decided to use her name instead, that’s why she lent a cold shoulder to her which obviously was so evident that both Farhaan & Fareeda got heed of. I am sure this will be a good twist in the story.

Of all the things, & no matter how irritating the character of Shaukat might be for Fareeda, but for us, he’s like a good entertainment provider because I really find his scenes funny. Even though he’s in an awe of Fareeda, he still has his complexes, that’s why he dreads seeing Fareeda having a name of her own & getting famous because he knows too well that the more attention & appreciation Fareeda will get for her work, the more she will grow apart from him, which in actual she never was interested in him but Shaukat hasn’t really gotten the hint. I am really interested to see his ways of impressing Fareeda & getting rejected every single time, haha!

I certainly enjoyed watching this episode of Digest Writer as well. I am glad we have a fresh story that deals with a different issue for now. The acting of all the actors has been great & I must say even the supporting actors have done their jobs really well. They’ve literally completed the gaps & I think they contribute in making this drama a wholesome package as well. Digest Writer – Episode 03!

Ohkay so, it was another fast paced & very interesting episode. I really like the characters already & feel all the actors have worked really well & have done justice to their roles.

Finally, Fareeda’s dreams have come true where she gets to know that the famous actress Rida has read her stories & is interested in working with her. Fareeda knows too well that no one else would support her that’s why she shares her secret with her only support-system Shakeela.

Amidst all this, we’re shown how Fareeda’s parents are struggling because of a bank loan they took in order to purchase the house they currently reside in. I think the opportunity of Fareeda making some money couldn’t have presented itself at any other time because right now, to see Fareeda earning some amount would obviously contribute a bit to the household expenses. It was obvious that even though Fareeda’s mother didn’t appreciate her talent & passion for writing, she had to give in because she saw that she’s getting paid. Even though it might look a bit odd to see the change of her mother’s attitude but then I am glad they haven’t showed it negatively that Zareena only worries about money & nothing else. Being a mother & someone who has to face all sort of social pressures, her hesitance still looks justified where she just didn’t easily allow Fareeda to carry on with her work & resisted it as much as she could.

I really enjoyed the post-payment celebratory scene. I feel all of them did really well & even though Jameela may not seem so supportive of Fareeda at times, she was still happy for her sister’s little success & enjoyed that moment of glory thoroughly. I loved seeing how Pizza was being reffered to as keemay wala naan because such little conversations give away a feeling that a family is communicating with each other & I am glad they’ve worked really well on this aspect that even though they all have different personalities, different thinking, by the end of the day they all are a family & they all depend on each other for support.

I also enjoyed Shaukat’s contribution to Fareeda’s life where he thinks he has a right to dictate her but the way Fareeda tackled him was really interesting. Like a few readers pointed out in last week’s review that for a change it’s good to see a girl who’s more interested in pursuing her dreams rather than worrying about getting married & I totally agree with it. I am glad they’ve shown Fareeda as a girl who’s creative, strong-headed, determined & passionate about what she does & for this bit, Digest Writer stands out because we hardly get to see such female characters. :)

Even though it looked like Fareeda’s father wouldn’t budge but as her mother said, Rida Anmol is also a favorite actress of Anwar, haha, so obviously he had to agree but I really liked the way everyone supported Fareeda & tried to make Anwar understand that this was such an opportunity which shouldn’t be wasted. Zareena, Shakeela & even Jameela along with Fareeda showed him a brighter picture & luckily for all, he agreed.

I must say along with the simple approach, I liked the few comic bits that this episode had backed by a perfect timing. Shaukat’s arrogance for having a great name, Zareena & Anwar’s submission to Fareeda’s plans, her siblings’ planning of having a small feast to celebrate the success of Fareeda – all this gave a very genuine feeling to the whole experience because they’ve rightfully showcased emotions that people experience in their day-to-day lives. I must say, I even enjoyed all the conversations because you can see diversity & reality in the dialogues. When Fareeda & her friend talk, it’s all about how her friend boosts her morale. When the parents talk to each other, it’s based on financial issues that they both are worried about & also some bits about a grocery list. When Najma & her family converse with each other, the center of attention is only Fareeda because clearly they’re having a hard time accepting her success. When Shaukat speaks, he’s only persistent in making Fareeda understand what she means to him & when the siblings speak to each other, they as much as discuss minor details like dish-washing along with other things. I really feel the team has worked hard in making the story & the characters as realistic as possible. To me, at first, it did look like the drama had a commercial feel but now as I’m going with the flow, I feel all the pieces are being perfectly put together & we’ve been granted another nice play to look forward to every week. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode of Digest Writer & I hope you all did too, share your thoughts on this episode please. :)
