Pakistani Singer, Amanat Ali Has Been Sued And Here’s Why

0

Pakistani singer, Amanat Ali recently had a star studded wedding which received a lot of media attention.

However, this time, he is not under the media’s spotlight for a good news.

He is now in trouble with law authorities due to having flavored tobacco smoking (shisha) at his Valima event.

News reports have been stating he has now been hit with a lawsuit for holding illegal activities at his wedding event  that are against the law.

The usage of shisha has been banned in the country.

Guests were served Shisha at his Valima and this has made the police take action against Amanat Ali, the hotel managers Manzur Ahmed and Haji Ashraf and 10 other people present at the event.

Nobody has been arrested so far but the chrages have been filed at the Madinah Town Police station.

“My love and connection with Pakistan still holds true”, says Adnan Sami

0

Adnan Sami moved to India nearly 18 years ago and yet he is found to be giving explanations to people about his decision.

“Mumbai has been my home for the past 18 years and I’m very comfortable there,” responded Adnan, when asked about it in a recent interview with BBC Urdu. “18 years is a long enough time to make connections with a city and its people. Mumbai, I would like to state, is very much my hometown.”

“Well, you see, God made the world as one. All these borders that divide it were put there by man. I believe wherever you want to live is your prerogative and wherever I want to live is my prerogative; my personal choice,” added Adnan. “Thousands of people go to foreign countries to further their careers. Don’t our doctors go to the UK or the US? I am focused on South Asian music and Mumbai is the place to be for that.”

Adnan further talked about what made him apply for the Indian passport:

“My Pakistani passport was due for renewal but for some reason or the other, the process was being delayed,” revealed the composer. “I became stateless for some time. Then, the Indian authorities gave me a Permanent Residence Permit and eventually, I decided to apply for Indian citizenship too. And as you know, I had to denounce my Pakistani citizenship for that.”

He continued, “I wish the Pakistani people would look at the situation as a whole and try to understand it. My love and connection with Pakistan still holds true. The people are still very fond of me, as I am of them. It’s just that how I was treated by the Pakistani authorities back then left me with no other choice…”

While commenting on how he does limited work, he said:

“If you look at the last 30 years of my career, you’ll see that I’ve always been very selective,” he replied, when compares to the current it-kid of Bollywood music, singer Arijit Singh.

“I have never wanted to become a music factory, you know?”

He is still fond of the music scene in Pakistan:

“I think what Rohail Hyatt did on Coke Studio was remarkable! And when I heard Farida Khanum’s performance on the show, I started crying! I had to call her up to convey my emotions”.

This Pakistani actor had to overcome his fear of heights for his upcoming film, guess who?

0

Shaz Khan is playing a pilot in the much awaited film, Parwaaz Hai Junoon.

The actor reportedly has acrophobia that is fear of heights. However, he is working day and night to overcome his fear.

“Yaar, the only thing I had in mind was that it was a bad idea,” Khan laughs, while speaking to The Express Tribuneover the phone. “But then, I was like you gotta do what you gotta do in life. I dive towards my fears and try to overcome them because that helps you grow as an artist. ”

With the help of a co-pilot, Khan performed a close quarter dog fight with another Marchetti. These jets were last used in World War II so they are good for mission and formation exercises but don’t even come close to the capability and control of the F-16.

This Pakistani actor had to overcome his fear of heights for his upcoming film, guess who?

“The preparation process for this role was the same as any other role that I’ve done. In the end, you have to find the truth in the character. That is why I feel going up in the plane was important. This way, you are able to find a psychological relationship with the character.”

“I want to be able to hook into the character and actually feel the sensation,” he says, adding that the flight was going well until the co-pilot handed over the controls. “As soon as I got the controls, I started shivering, and as soon as I inverted the aircraft, I could feel the breakfast coming up in my throat. Man, I learned a lot!”

Shaz has been previously seen in Moor and Dobara Phir Se. The way he has tried to approach his character has helped him overcome acrophobia.

“I used to be really scared of even jumping off a ledge 20 feet above the water. Slowly and gradually, I did a few things that allowed me to get over it. This flying experience was obviously a huge step in getting over my fear and sky diving will be the last”

Sammi Episode 9 Review – Powerful Messages

This had to be one of my most favorite episodes of Sammi simply because of the way some very relevant and powerful messages were delivered to the viewers through this installment. I am all for dramas which are solely entertaining but I truly appreciate the fact that different channels are taking an initiative to talk about things which are rarely discussed in dramas nowadays. Sammi is a nice break from the regular love stories and dramas dealing with shadi shuda zindagi ke masail. There are a lot of people out there who need to listen to all those things which Aaliyan said to his brother tonight, which maulvi sahab said to Naheed and even those which Chandni said to Sammi about her feelings for her brother. Although Sammi and Salar’s track is my least favorite one yet he is turning out to be someone who will eventually ‘educate’ Sammi about her rights. Having said that, I must add that I would have liked it a lot more if Chandni was shown as Sammi’s mentor. I must say though that I liked the way Chandni’s reaction to Sammi and Salaar’s growing interest in each other was shown; it was realistic and easy to connect to. Whatever we have seen so far suggests that Chandni is practical and not negative therefore I am waiting to find out how she will handle the situation when she overhears her son proposing to Sammi. Chandni’s character has been etched-out brilliantly, there are different shades to her personality and Sania Saeed brings out the best in her character like always! Ahad Raza Mir is also nailing his character; he has proven that he is a natural, love his confidence and body language.

I am certain that there are viewers out there who are educated and live in modern cities yet they face the oppression faced by women like Naheed, Sammi and even Salima. I am glad that this drama serial does not deal with one issue alone but is shedding light on many ways through which those people who are in charge oppress those who cannot defend themselves for various reasons. This drama also gives voice to all those women who do not have a voice of their own. My favorite parts of this episode were Chandni’s reaction to Sammi and Salar’s growing likeness for each other and the way Naheed’s track in particular was handled was beyond brilliant. Aaliyan’s character brings hope into Naheed’s world. The fact that she listened to him and went to talk to someone who could have given her a fatwa and mustered up the courage to show her brother what the maulvi sahab had to say went to prove that all she needed was more awareness and some support to get what was rightly hers. Her brother is being shown as one of those men who exploit religion and also use societal norms to deprive women. Aaliyan’s dialogues in this scene were penned down beautifully, another powerful message which needed to be spelled out! Naheed’s brother just like the Chaudhry is constantly judging others but never reflects upon his own actions. Bilal Khan fits the role he is playing and I am certain that Aaliyan will have a much bigger role to play in the future. Nadia Afghan is another actress who never fails to impress, it is a treat watching her perform every time.

Sammi Episode 9 Review - Powerful Messages

Chaudhry’s meeting with Aaliyan was also an interesting addition to this episode. Yet again it showed the mentality of people like Chaudhry Nawaz and why learning English could not change his son’s mindset or his future! It was interesting watching someone like Chaudhry interviewing somebody like Aaliyan because the only reason why he was in this position was because he had more power, other than that Aaliyan was far more educated and enlightened. I can’t praise Rehan Sheikh enough for proving his versatility in every single role every time. Madiha Rizvi is also doing complete justice to her role, her expressions when Chaudhry was about to check the phone and later on the way she changed her body language to show the relief she felt after finding out it wasn’t Rashid’s phone were perfect! One of my favorite scenes in this episode was the one in which Sammi refused to take a big tip, it went to show how her confidence and feelings of self-worth changed with Chandni’s behaviour towards her. The scene in which Salar tells Sammi to repeat after him was a lot like Udaari therefore not too happy about that!

This is not the first time that Saife Hassan has worked with actors who are being seen for the first time in dramas therefore I am not surprised that he brought out the best in all these actors. The rest of the cast including Seemi Raheel is doing a terrific job. These performances are one of the reasons why it is so easy to connect to all the characters.

The preview of the next episode was exciting. I am waiting to see how Rashid handles the situation, whether Chandni’s attitude towards Sammi changes or not and how Aaliyan’s presence changes things in Chaudhry’s house. There is a lot to look forward to!

Mawra Hocane Talks About Sammi, Love, Life & How She Doesn’t Mind Using Social Media For Stardom

In this age and time, only a few Pakistani celebrities have managed to unlock the secrets behind achieving not only A-list stardom but also social-media popularity that makes their star rise each passing minute. The biggest example is none other than Mawra Hocane. And it’s been a year since this VJ and television actress shot to stardom and became one of the most desirable celebrities on the horizon.

A post shared by MAWRA ? (@mawrellous) on

Speaking to Instep, the bubbly girl talks about why she hasn’t yet signed a film after Sanam Teri Kasam, why she did sign up for Sammi, love, life and how she doesn’t mind using social media for stardom.

Instep: Sanam Teri Kasam is one of your highest achievements; you must have been disappointed with the ban that prevented you from doing more work in India.

Mawra Hocane (MH): To give you a boring answer, I am Zen and these things don’t really affect me. Sometimes in a blue moon they do, but usually I am very Zen. I truly believe with all my heart that whatever’s happening is for the best. Of course, I had to turn down a few things or rather projects that I couldn’t do given the situation. But I am glad that I did a film when the situation was better and I am sure the good times will come back.

I am not disappointed or irritated as long as my own country is giving me the work that it is giving me. For an artiste, it is important to vent out or apply their art somewhere on some project. It rarely matters which country it belongs to; it is more important to perform and be given platforms.

A post shared by MAWRA ? (@mawrellous) on

Instep: Cinema is the biggest platform for any artiste. What’s stopping you from signing any films in Pakistan? Have you received any film offers?

MH: I do not think that after working for years in the best of projects, it’s a big deal to get offers. So, there’s nothing to flaunt about that. What I want people to know is that right now, I am solely working on Sammi and nothing else at all and I don’t have any problem sharing that with anybody because I am a very secure actor. Until I don’t find a project that enriches me, I will not accept a role.

Instep: What do you keep in mind while selecting a new project or accepting a role?

MH: I already give too much to the projects I work in. Honestly, even in Bollywood, I haven’t done a film with a director that everyone is dreaming about, so I had to give a gargantuan amount of time and sweat to make the project shine. Even in Pakistan, I don’t think I have worked with directors who people write about in their wish lists. I have always given so much to my projects and sometimes alone. There have been projects where I was the sole saving grace, so I do feel that all of that has emptied me a little and I deserve to be enriched by the directors I work with now. So, I will give it a little time to select my next project.

A post shared by MAWRA ? (@mawrellous) on

Instep: Who are your dream directors in India and Pakistan?

MH: Dream directors in India would be Imtiaz Ali, Ayyan Mukherjee and Karan Johar. Dream directors in Pakistan would be Asim Raza, Nabeel Qureshi and Nadeem Baig.
Instep: Do you feel that you’re under the microscope all the time, especially on social media?
MH: My publicist and friends keep telling me that I underestimate myself and the power, which lies within my hands. However, I am also a normal person; I can also feel something and write it. I can also crack jokes and try to be funny even if it only makes me laugh. I am not a stand-up comedian or someone who has to be right always; I can also just be who I am. I wish my tweets that have a positive message also get as viral as the ones in which people are hating on me.

Instep: That said do you think your social media following contributes to your stardom?

MH: Of course it does. But it cannot come from the intention of being a social media star. I started using Instagram when people asked me to start uploading pictures there. It came from the intention of actually liking social media platforms as a hobby. I used to passionately use social media when people really didn’t. I think that’s why I have a huge following. But sometimes I am stuck between the choice of writing about things that affect me or writing about things that people would enjoy.

I do have to self-censor to make sure that I don’t write anything that harms anybody. I refrain from putting up anything that may harm people or affect them in a negative way. I don’t do things, which I know will create a situation for people. Some days, I do feel that despite being so careful, people draw what they want to out of the things I write, to make their own connotations. I do get people being hateful but that’s a select few in comparison to people who write good things, but you’d never see that written about in publications because everyone wants masala.

A post shared by MAWRA ? (@mawrellous) on

Instep: Do you feel social media has also made nobodies into celebrities. Is social media following enough for one to be considered a star?

MH: I say, good for them. I say this because probably the year I started and those before me, they didn’t even have social media platforms. Maybe, if I would have joined this year, I would already have had an Instagram and had some followers and I would have used my social media to get popular. So I feel there’s nothing wrong with it but I do feel work and social media go hand-in-hand. I don’t mind it; people should totally use it for their benefit!

Instep: Coming to Sammi, people have complained that your role in Sammi is too regressive. Does it get inspirational at some point in the story?

MH: A lot of people ask me this question, but then one must realize this is not about people like you or I. We might find this regressive because we live in another world, where we may not even come across such a problem. But when we go and shoot in a village and see where such problems happen, or simply just search it online and see the number of wani cases that happen, we’ll realize that it’s not regressive but the truth that we close our eyes to intentionally or unintentionally. We may not wake up and question about how many honour killings happened today; we don’t even give it a thought, so when we watch a project like this, we find it regressive. It’s not about a girl living in Karachi, who woke up to face an electricity outage or a water shortage; it’s about someone living in a village that isn’t allowed to take a single decision herself. She’s stuck with the fear that someone will make a decision for her and she has to abide by it because she has no other option.

The whole point of bringing a show like Sammi on air was to shed light on topics we may not understand. When I first read the project, I asked why was [Sammi] so helpless? She never spoke. For a girl like me, I was questioning the writers, since she didn’t speak a word in the first many episodes of the script! Why wouldn’t she question her brother and her father and I realized girls in the villages may not do so. I kept questioning why was I surrendering to their every decision and whim?

A post shared by MAWRA ? (@mawrellous) on

Instep: Did we need an organization such as the Johns Hopkins Foundation to make us realize that such things happen and need to be exposed on television?

MH: It’s not that we need them to remind us to make something on this, but it’s just a benefit when an organization comes in and takes charge to highlight a social issue. It’s not even about doing that in Pakistan alone, it’s worldwide. There are so many places where rights aren’t given; I just feel that we get offended too soon. It happens everywhere in the world. People raise issues.

Instep: Social media queen, Bollywood debut, and a television presence, we’ve all heard of the good stuff. What are the chinks in your armour?

MH: There are many, but they are the chinks in the armour because you don’t show them. Otherwise, they’d be headlines of Mawra’s life and they’d no longer be just the chinks. I try to really cover them with a lot of beautiful words and write the least I can because I would not like it to become the reason why people would know me. But I am as much of a human as anybody else.

I think I do put my private life out there a little, to show that we actors are as human as everyone else because we need compassion from the fans as much as we give. I do share bits to show people that we do not always get away unaffected even when we try to.

A post shared by MAWRA ? (@mawrellous) on

Instep: Is there space for love and a relationship between all the things that you do?

MH: I think everyone has space for a relationship and love and love in any form is welcome. Without it life would be boring.

Instep: On a parting note, any thing else that you’d like to add to the conversation?

MH: There is something that I’d be happy to share today; it’s something that I have never spoken about. I want to share how some of my projects have emptied me but not enriched me enough. So, I am glad that was shared. Now, when I look back, I realize that I have not worked with a single director who people say are career-makers. It’s unfortunate, but, it also makes me think that whatever I have built is on my own and that gives me a sense of satisfaction.

Also, I do feel it is important do what you want to do instead of stopping because of what others say. We tend to believe others and we stop because we always have pre-conceived notions from others. I say, a dreamer is limitless, because once you start dreaming, you can do everything you set your mind to.

3 dramas by Mehreen Jabbar which every drama lover needs to watch

0

We all know that Mehreen Jabbar is a very unique director. Her dramas always have substance and they leave an important message in the end.

What we specifically love about her style is that she brings forward our society’s reality through the right kind of drama and not through exaggeration.

Pakistani dramas have surely come a long way and as much as we enjoy a good amount of dramas on screen these days, there are some dramas which stay with us forever due to their content and the feeling that they left us with.

And three of Mehreen’s dramas are such which left a rather bitter sweet mark on all of us.

  1. Daam

Daam aired on ARY Digital in 2010 and starred Aamina Sheikh, Adeel Husain and Sanam Baloch  in the main roles while Sanam Saeed played a supporting role. The drama tells a story of what happens when the relationships of siblings and those of friends stand on a cross road.

It deals with the complexity of human relationships in the simplest of manners and would make you think for a while and ask you that till what length should one go to in order to prove their love for a blood relation.

2. Mata e Jaan Hai Tu

https://youtu.be/ytikw8O8uZU

The drama starred Sarwat Gilani and Adeel Husain in the main roles and aired in 2012 on Hum TV. It dealt with the issue of how to deal with life once you have lost the love of your life to death and the conflict between the approval of parents and choosing your own life partner.

3. Malaal

Lastly, Malaal was one of it’s kind which broke stereotypes on Pakistani television in the year 2009 by depicting romance between an older woman and a younger guy. The drama starred Imran Abbas, Faisal Rehman, Sarwat Gilani and Deepti Gupta.

Based in New York, it unravels the romantic relationship between two couples and how they come together and deal with their problems.

Therefore, every drama lover must make use of YouTube right about now and binge watch these excellent dramas.

Lux Awards Lost It’s Credibility, Claims Imran Abbas & We Agree!

Like every other year, this year again awards ceremonies are set to honor personalities from the field of entertainment across movies, music, television and fashion. Lux Style Awards nominations came out recently and they were suppose to be completely unbiased!

So, did the awards acknowledge every deserving person? No, we do not think so. Gone are the days, when awards were reliable because most of them now promote those close to them and forget everyone else.

The nominations for Lux Style Awards, one of the most celebrated and most prestigious awards in Pakistan, are no more reliable. Not just us, but the celebrities too feel the same way, recently, Mahira Khan took to twitter to express her feelings and now it’s Imran Abbas who is totally against the nominations. In fact, he wasn’t nominated for a single award despite of giving some good performances!

Imran Abbas expressed his thoughts, through a comment, his way of commenting might not be the best to say. However, he still has a relevant point because the biased nominations have disturbed the whole entertainment fraternity since many deserving were not even acknowledged. Lux itself has given people the chance to make fun of their credibility!

Lux Awards Lost It's Credibility, Claims Imran Abbas & We Agree!

The biggest problem with the nominations is the fact that they snubbed major deserving names and didn’t even give them a mention.

‘Mahiya’ featuring Mathira and Danish Taimoor is out and here’s what we think

0

Previously, we brought you the trailer review of the film, Tum Hee Ho and we revealed to you how distasteful it was. However, a new song of the movie is out and we still think the same.

The song shows a rather excited Mathira dancing in a pool and other areas trying to reach out to Danish Taimoor but he is shown to be a distant and distressed hero who doesn’t seem to be paying any heed to her.

Apart from the song not sounding good to the ears, it is not visually pleasing either.

Mathira’s dance moves will remind you of a poorly done item song while Danish’s choice of work will make you wonder why did he sign this film.

You can watch the song here:

Tum Hee Ho stars Danish Taimoor, Mathira, Sajid Hassan, Saim Ali, Ghana Ali Quratulain and Sangeeta and is also a Sangeeta Film Production.

The movie will be released on 14th April 2017.

Mahesh Bhatt’s Dushman most likely to be not cleared by the censor board here

0

Previously, the Mahira Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees got banned in Pakistan and didn’t meet our censor’s board criteria.

And now, it is another Punjabi Indian film called Dushman which has failed to live up to the mark of our censor board.

According to its Indian filmmakers, the film is about how a Pakistani manages to turn a prejudiced anti-Pakistani Indian, to see the error of his ingrained biases.

But according to the Islamabad censor board (the so-called ‘Central Board of Film Censors’), the film is “a controversial and a propaganda [sic] movie against the State of Pakistan.”

Yasir Hussain’s Next Starring Kubra Khan

After blowing us with her amazing performances in Muqabil and Sange Marmar, Kubra khan is now all set to play the lead role in Yasir Hussain’s penned drama.

The Lahore Se Aagey star, writer/actor Yasir Hussain has written a script for TV and it’s based on shaadi!

“It’s about a man (played by Yasir) whose mother wants him to get married to the woman of her choice, but he is in love with with someone else,”
shares Yasir with Images.

Don’t expect a lot of crying and wailing, though. Yasir assured that Shaadi is “a light-hearted drama”, sort of like the TV serials of the ’80s and ’90s.

It’s a special drama for Yasir because it’s the first drama that he’s written and acted in. Shaadi, directed by Wajahat Rauf, besides Kubra and Yasir also stars Sadia Faisal, Bushra Ansari and Salman Shahid. It will be aired on Eid-ul-Fitr. We’re surely looking forward to this one since it stars the rising star Kubra Khan.

Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 22 Review – Weak Episode!

Ohkay so, let me be completely honest with you guys, in my opinion, only the last 10 minutes of this episode were worth watching because the drama-makers developed an interesting link between the past & the present once again but the rest of the episode despite having some drama & developments was boring to say the least. This was probably the first episode where I couldn’t take eyes off my cellphone because it failed to grab my interest & I actually couldn’t wait for the episode to get over. It actually breaks my heart that the drama that I was so emotionally invested in for the first half has reduced to this level where after this episode, I am dreading the fact that the ending is going to be so rushed that it might leave me asking for more. The direction, the editing & the overall scenarios in this episode were so so so weak that every single time I saw the flashbacks I couldn’t stop thinking about the excellence this drama & its team touched in the initial phase of the story. I feel if the director decided to end this drama in the decent number of episodes, then he could’ve established the story in such a way where he could’ve taken us to a closure in a more intelligent manner but seems like he focused more on Isaac that he forgot to worry about all the other things that actually mattered. Anyways, let’s hope that they give us a magical last episode next week because in the 2nd last episode tonight, only a few ending scenes worked for me & that too is all thanks to Hammad & Sarah because they are the only saving grace of the second phase of the story!

So, I had zero idea that the policemen in the USA could arrest people while driving their personal cars & while dressed in formal suits after returning from their best friend’s wedding. The entire scenario after that didn’t spark any interest even though what they showed wasn’t out of the line because they had already made a point about how Isaac made sure that the police kept on tailing Hammad & kept a check on him but somehow the way it was executed was unappealing!

I actually really liked how Sarah stood up for herself & gave her father a reality check because he most certainly needed one. I find it actually quite amusing that Isaac who has a problem with Hammad just because he is a Muslim has no issues in getting Sarah forcefully married to Zeeshan who also is a Muslim, at least by name. I think it would’ve made much more sense if they had changed Zeeshan’s name to Zack or Zackery to imply that Isaac himself chose Christianity & wanted to make sure that his daughter stayed on that path too by marrying one as well because he obviously raised her as a Non-Muslim anyways. I feel just by showing Isaac as a Muslim Islamophobe, they have literally ruined the essence of the story & because of that, nothing that Isaac says or does make any sense whatsoever. The director thought that showing the flashbacks of Molvi Aleemuddin to establish the similarities between Isaac & him was a good idea but to be honest, it made Isaac stick out like a sore thumb a lot more because at least back then, Molvi Aleemuddin had a reason to oppose Hammad as he was not only insulted but his daughter was blamed for trapping Hammad too. On the other hand, to put Aleemuddin & Isaac on the same pedestal most certainly didn’t work because Isaac actually looks like a delusional person who just harbored grudges against Hammad because he had an attention span of a poodle & probably had minus zero (-0) sensibility.

The only connection between the past & the present that actually worked for me was how they showed that Sarah was exactly facing what Hammad went through for the sake of his love. For Sarah, love is not the only point of concern, her main issue is defending her rights; right of not getting married to someone she doesn’t love, right of freely believing in the religion that sits well with her, right of standing up against her father who thinks he can dictate her & get away with anything. For Sarah, to take such a step is not only because she is defending her love for Hammad, but is also because she has to make her father realize about all of his wrongdoings. Sarah’s relation with Isaac was quite shaky but what made it hit the rock bottom was when Sarah found out the truth about Isaac being the one responsible for Hammad’s arrest. It was quite interesting to see how Sarah gave words to all her feelings & tried to knock some sense into her father’s head that Hammad was actually a good influence on her who taught her about all the important aspects of life, be it religion or holding onto her blood relations but sadly, since Isaac is empty headed, he chose to ignore all of that!

To be honest, another reason why I couldn’t bring myself to watch this episode with utmost attention was because of the unnecessary coverage that was given to Isaac & then Zeeshan, like I thought this ghunda was gone for good & was settled in New York but he came back with his chiseled beard & another level of annoying expressions to spoil the episode for us. I must say Zeeshan is quite bezti-proof that despite getting rejected so many times, he still persists on getting married to Sarah because his small ego can’t cope with the fact that she can choose someone else over him!

So, finally Sarah spilled the beans & confessed her feelings to Hammad but looks like Hammad couldn’t even think of anything of that sort. This is something that made me lose hope about getting the proper ending in the last episode as far as Sarah & Hammad are concerned because I thought the director would actually establish the fact that Hammad saw something in Sarah as well but I think in the last episode, since the director will have to give closure to so many things, this aspect will most certainly be compromised upon! I have a bad feeling that the last episode would also be dedicated to Isaac The Clove & his change of heart so because of that Hammad & Sarah will be put on the back seat. Also, the way they have shown that Isaac was cursing Hammad right till the end of this episode, I have a feeling that the sudden change in his behavior & mentality wouldn’t also sit well with the viewers in the last episode because the director should have showed this transition slowly but looks like it is going to be choppy & abrupt just like how the editing of the entire 2nd phase has been.

Anyways, even though I decided I won’t be commenting on this but the makeup enthusiast in me is not letting me stay quiet. The makeup artist, whoever he/she was, was not a friend of anyone because he made all of them look horrible. For some people, the base was too orange, for some, the blush-on was not on the cheeks but on the jawbone, for some, the under-eye highlight was too blinding & for someone, the foundation was a completely wrong shade. It seems by this stage, everyone was too excited for the final pack up that no one did their jobs with utmost interest & concentration. Also, I found it amusing that everyone in this episode was standing, either on the footpath, on the road or outside their homes & there was zero continuity between the scenes. Anyways, the confrontation between Sarah & Isaac & the way Sarah & Hammad’s life-changing moment was linked were the only few good aspects of this episode. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat!

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 23 Review – Slow-Paced

Although this episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai was slightly better but the fact is that there is nothing much to explore in any of the tracks now and the drama should come to an end soon. Noor became a parent in this episode, Sanam probably took the first major step towards bringing about the drastic change in Arshi and Zain, and Kashmala revealed her true feelings. I must say that Kashmala’s feelings were covered in a much better way than all the other tracks. This track definitely has the surprise factor and her attitude made a lot more sense when she confessed that she was doing all this on purpose. Noor’s reaction to Sona’s death and many of the conversations later on made it sound like all these people saw this tragedy as a blessing in disguise! Although, I am certain that the writer did not want to convey this message but the dialogues definitely gave the wrong message! Also, no one talked about reporting this incident to the police or about catching the perpetrators. It was definitely good watching Noor accept and love a child like that and watching him give a child an identity was touching but it would have been so much better if a central character was not brutally killed by the writer in order to give this ‘gift’ to Noor.

Mahi’s nikkah got delayed yet again and she finally decided to visit the doctor! I would be terribly disappointed if she has some fatal illness because those viewers who have been watching Mahi go through hell for the longest time now deserve better. Also, so far this drama has broken a lot of stereotypes and showing Mahi getting married to Mikael and living a happy life would be far more novel than showing her dying of all the stress she took her whole life. A woman like Mahi should be celebrated but if she dies then the writer will be asking the viewers to feel sorry for her, which would be clichéd! One of the best moments in this drama was Mahi and her mother sharing a laugh! It was a nice break from watching these characters sacrificing or suffering!

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 23 Review - Slow-Paced

Sanam’s conversation with Zain suggested that Zain might just accept Noor at some point, I hope it happens soon! I must say that Sanam’s character has to be one of the most steady and positive characters in this play. Mariam Saleem has brought out the best in her character, her dialogue delivery and body language has always been on point. The scene in which Sanam and Arshi were strolling by the poolside was hilarious because that was the most inappropriate place for someone in Arshi’s condition to walk!

This episode would have been far more impactful if the dialogues were more relevant and powerful. The drama needs to end soon because the slow pace of the drama is the main reason why it does not give you a lot to look forward to. Khuda Mera Bhi Hai has served its purpose therefore dragging the drama now is simply putting those viewers off who enjoyed the drama for 15+ weeks.

How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Rahat Creates Magic With Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai’s OST

The legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has the ability to even make the boring lyrics sound meaningful, such is the power of his voice. So far, most of his songs have always impressed us because he sings melodies that touch your soul. This is exactly the case with the OST of most awaited drama Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai. Sung by the sensational and archetype of talent, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The OST has been composed by Sahir Ali Bagga and it is written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.

As soon as the OST of MTNH begins, we fall in love with the tune, lyrics and above all Rahat’s magical voice. It’s a heart breaking song which shows the transitions of different characters. The OST fits well on all the characters because it shows their pain and struggle with love. The promos and the music of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai as a whole is hitting high notes.

Starring Ayeza Khan, Imran Abbas and Shehzad sheikh in the lead roles, Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai is all set to go on air from April 8, every Saturday 8 pm.

“We’ve taken a bit of a risk by not taking any Bollywood influences”, Faris Khalid on CTS

0

Faris Khalid is an actor who is coming in the much awaited movie of the year, Chalay Thay Saath. He recently gave an interview to Something Haute which we bring to you.

While talking about what he thinks of Bollywood, he said:

“I don’t have anything against Bollywood. For me, personally, it just doesn’t come to me naturally, the song and dance thing. I think it sort of detracts from the story, especially if its drama. And I prefer drama.”

While talking about how CTS has no Bollywood elements, he said:

“We’ve taken a bit of a risk by not taking any Bollywood influences. There’s no song and dance. We have tried to focus on characters and storyline. So that way the film is a little different. Perhaps we’re pushing the boundaries a little bit by challenging the norm but we’ve got so much faith in the film. It’s not one of those projects where we’re like ‘oh now we have to promote this because we’re obliged to it.’ All of us are genuinely backing this because we truly believe in it.”

The star also talked about his early career days and his theatre career as well:

“I started theatre years ago and then Blackfish took off in early 2000s. I did some TV as well but I always kept it on the side. I moved to Dubai, got a corporate job. Then Rahm happened in which I got to play a transvestite and I love character roles,” he shared. Khalid also explained how he landed a spot in CTS. “I used to do a cooking show back in the day and Umer Adil and Beenish (director and producer of CTS) produced and directed that show. So they contacted me to see if I was interested or not. It was a great script and I really liked it. Also, it’s great to work with people you respect.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BN_9EFulkvV/

It seems like Faris is a huge fan of being humble:

“I think people should be grounded. People become celebrities, they become bankable names and that’s why people want them in their plays, films and TV projects but that shouldn’t be an indicator that they’re good at their craft. Being a celebrity detracts from focusing on your work. I hope it changes though.”

Sania Saeed and Atiqa Odho will share the screen for TV Drama on Alzheimer’s

0

Pakistani dramas and their content have been breaking stereotypes with dramas like Udaari and Khuda Mera Bhi Hai as they touch upon topics of sexual abuse and raising intersex children respectively.

And now, Atiqa Odho and Sania Saeed are all set to come together in a drama based on Alzheimer’s.

The TV serial is titled Piyari Bitto and has been written by Saji Gul .

Saji Gul told images that it:

“touches upon the topic of Alzheimer’s.”

“It’s about adoption and the relations we take for granted, Sania Shamshad is playing Bitto, Atiqa’s daughter who is adopted by her phupoo Sania Saeed.”

“Atiqa will appear in a very different role… a very dark one. A narcissistic mother.”

Piyari Bitto is a very interesting project as my role in it has a lot of range and variation. There are three distinct looks for my role and the switchovers shall hopefully be very interesting for my fans,” said Atiqa Odho.

She is very excited to work with her old time friends:

“I’m excited about the project as it’s a strong family drama with a stellar cast. Two of my old time friends, Sania Saeed and Farah Shah are coming on-screen with me after many years and this is all very exciting for us and hopefully for our audiences as well. Time shall tell how Piyari Bitto is received by the audiences.”

The drama also features Fawad Khan (from Jeevan Hathi), Farah Shah and Rashid Farooqui. It is produced by Musharraf Jaffery.

The drama will be airing in May.

Sahir Lodhi reveals his celebrity crush

0

Sahir Lodhi is loved by his fans for his outspoken personality and his poetic side.

At one place, you see him dancing for his upcoming film while previously he used to discuss topics like love and poetry in his radio and TV shows.

We all know how much Sahir loves acting from the look and trailers of his upcoming film Raasta but in a recent interview, the star revealed his celebrity crush. He told a local publication:

“I am as away from romance as Pakistan is from Israel, Romance is very difficult for me unless it’s with Katrina Kaif. One look at her and it would all come naturally, it’s beyond a crush it’s a one-sided love.”

We really can’t blame Sahir for being so expressive about his celebrity crush because let’s face it, we are all a llittle too extreme about our crushes.

Raasta is a film produced and directed both by Sahir Lodhi and he is the protagonist in it as well.

Titlee Episode 10 Review – Ego In Action!

0

Drama serial Titlee continues to be interesting, although the story doesn’t have anything grand to offer but even then the overall treatment given to the play makes it one of the most entertaining plays this season. Naila’s character is that of an egoistic girl who likes to have things her way. She exploits, lies and bullies to get what she wants; these tactics have worked for her all her life therefore she probably did not learn to deal with different situations she faces in any other way. The fact that her attitude with people who are more likely to listen to her and are easy to bully is completely different goes to show that if she didn’t have so many “nice” people around her like Zara and Ahmed and his parents and a mother who has always been her biggest supporter, she wouldn’t have been the person she is today. Naila always argues with her mother, her sister and even her husband and she almost always gets her way but when her father or brother ask her to do something, she usually lies to have her way or has to go along with their wishes. This was sole reason why she got married to Ahmed. I must confess that even with all her flaws, somehow I do blame her father and brother too for marrying her off with someone she did not like. She is not the kind of girl who would have adjusted thinking that she had to make this marriage work therefore they shouldn’t have married her off to someone she did not like.

Titlee Episode 10 Review - Ego In Action!

Apart from being controlling Naila also thinks she deserves all the “perks” which come with marrying a rich guy even though she does not have an ounce of respect for him. This pompous, entitled attitude is another reason why Naila just cannot see why she should behave any other way! I see Naila as someone who is more naive than anything else, she needs to learn a few important lessons in life, the most important one being that you don’t get everything on a plate! She will at some point learn this when she loses all these people and even things which she takes for granted. I am definitely waiting to see if the viewers get to see such a change in Naila’s attitude.

The only scene in tonight’s episode which was slightly over-dramatic was the one in which Ahmed’s mother called to “talk” to Amna! While Ahmed’s mother’s emotions at that time were understandable, showing Zara crying was like taking it a bit too far! Otherwise this episode was right on point and fast paced as usual. Love love love Hania Amir’s acting and Ali Abbas is turning out to be a personal favorite. They definitely elevate the overall impact their characters have on the viewers and make this drama worth watching.

The preview of the next episode showed Ahmed telling his father about Naila’s ‘shert’ and Naila’s brother will probably find out that she was lying! Can’t wait to see what happens next week!

Nazr e Bad Episode 17 & 18 – A Must Watch!

Ohkay so, I am so glad with the way the story of Nazr e Bad has unfolded so far. I can’t emphasize enough about how glad I am when it comes to the research that has gone into this project because so far what they are showing us is a true depiction of this subject. I must commend the writer & the director both for staying true to the topic & for bringing it to us in such a convincing manner. What I also love about Nazr e Bad is the fact that every set of episodes bring a lot of new developments with them & nothing seems repetitive or forced. It is quite interesting that they are showing what can be achieved by resorting to black magic & most importantly how, because the rituals that they have shown are enough to shake someone because in reality they are quite horrific & heinous. I really enjoy the pace of the drama but I really don’t want to say that again & again because I feel I might jinx it as HUM Tv Soaps tend to get a little stretched after a certain number of episodes, so I really wish that doesn’t turn out to be the case with Nazr e Bad.

So Abeera got married to Babar & with this, another plan of Parvez became successful because he wanted to bring more & more misery to Shafeeq & Nusrat’s already broken family. It is actually quite realistic how they have shown that Parvez has literally taken away everything from Shafeeq & Nusrat that they once used to have, their peace of mind, financial security & most importantly their bonding & relationship because this way, he is being able to bring more & more misery into their lives. Baber is married to Abeera, who was in love with Ahmer. Ahmer is unable to face his family especially Abeera because even he fell in love with her. Nusrat & Shafeeq got divorced, so Nusrat literally has nowhere to go. Shafeeq isn’t himself anymore & because of that he has committed such a huge mistake because of which he’ll not only lose his job but will become financially indebted too. Maham on the other hand is feeling the brunt of all of this & with that, she is also facing the issues with her husband & her in laws. The way they have built up the story to this point & are now portraying all the problems that Shafeeq’s entire family is facing is quite convincing because when these sort of energies take over, one thing after another starts to crumble & in the end you’re left with nothing. Shafeeq, Nusrat, Baber, Ahmer & Maham, all 5 of them are facing difficulties & are literally clueless about where they can start picking up the pieces from.

Looks like Almas’s family got to know about Maham’s pregnancy a bit too early because considering how Nusrat is so cautious & scared of Almas’s evil eye, she would’ve kept Maham’s pregnancy as a secret, so I am not sure how that news got to Humera who then informed Parvez about it. Even when Maham came to see Nusrat, Nusrat was adamant that Maham shouldn’t taste anything cooked by Almas for her so not sure why didn’t she keep the news of Maham’s pregnancy to herself? The moment Parvez found out about it, I did feel that he is going to make sure Maham loses her baby because that would serve as the final nail in the coffin & both Aftab & Maham would find it hard to start afresh & this is exactly what happened. Maham lost her calm & I am sure Salma would find this as a golden opportunity to throw Maham out of her house. Just because Salma was looking for a reason to prove that Maham wasn’t mentally stable, the way Maham reacted & will continue to react after the trauma that she has went through would make it easier for Salma to convince Aftab that Maham is not sane & he should leave her. Also, Aqmal & Aftab were shown to be worrying about their financial restraints that they were facing & even Aqmal generally discussed with his son that they never faced these sorts of difficulties before, so in the end Salma will once again find another excuse to put a blame on Maham that she is the reason behind all these problems that their family is facing. Everything is not only convincing & realistic but makes so much of sense that just because Parvez wants to ruin Maham & Aftab’s marriage, he is creating such circumstances where Maham will eventually be forced out of Aftab’s home!

So, Parvez decided to teach Almas all that he knows & looks like she is a perfect student that he could ever have because even Almas has brewed so much negativity in herself that she easily got hold of what Parvez taught her. I can’t begin to imagine the way she’d torture Nusrat because she has always hated her & now Almas feels empowered & is supposedly at a good place in her life so she is going to make the most of it. I still am not too sure why Nusrat is choosing to stay with Almas because with her son downstairs, she can easily live in a room there without bothering anyone & without facing her ex-husband Shafeeq. Looks like Shafeeq is now going to lose the job & he will be forced to pay those 25 lacs that he signed the check for.

I really hope Shazia’s character has more to offer than just to hover around Parvez like his well-wisher. Now with her sister getting terminally ill, she herself has seen how dire the situation can get, so I really wish after some time she finds the courage to contact & tell Maham everything that she knows about Parvez because Shazia is the only one who knows that Parvez is the reason why Maham lost her child. I am expecting this much of compassion & humanity from Shazia. Also, I really wish now that Nusrat is living in Almas’s home, she spots either Parvez or Almas performing black magic because no matter how cautious they’re going to be, if someone is sharing your roof, one way or the other they somehow get an idea of all the things that are happening in their surroundings because anyways Parvez doesn’t live in a 10 bedroom house, so Nusrat should easily find out the truth, this is something that I really wish isn’t dragged by the director or & the writer & they bring the story to this point soon enough.

Aneesa surely has a lot of faith on Parvez now & looks like she is ready to protect him in a way that no one can point a finger at him in regards to who is he & what his relation or connection with Aneesa is. Aneesa offering a job to Parvez was basically a well-thought move on her part where she knew that she couldn’t afford to lose a guy like Parvez who can do so much for her business. At this stage, I wouldn’t have found it odd if they had replaced Aneesa’s character with a male character too because in order to keep their businesses intact & prosperous, a lot of businessmen resort to the expertise of people like Parvez as well. I have found all the happenings quite convincing & like I have said before, I completely agree that women are more likely to get involved in these sort of things but to show that so far Parvez only has female clientele is taking it a bit too far, because I feel they could’ve easily maintained a balance by showing a male businessman in stead of Aneesa.

Overall, these two episodes of Nazr e Bad were quite interesting & every single week when the episodes end, I am left looking forward to more. So far, the story has been quite realistic & all the scenarios are quite believable. I must say what I truly appreciate is the fact how they have emphasized on the importance of Namaz/Obligatory Prayers & The Holy Quran, like they have time & again showed that Maham’s husband & her mother remind her to offer prayers thinking it will being some mental peace to her. It is quite nice that they have tried to show that holding onto these things is equally important too. This week around I found Azfar Rehman’s acting quite effortless. I must say Sakina Samo takes the crown for playing Almas’s character to perfection, her body language, her attitude, her expressions, everything tells a tale of how miserable & bitter she is as a woman & now that she has found a lot of power, she is ready to exploit it. Sara Khan was quite convincing as Maham, she actually did showcase Maham’s ordeals & sufferings phenomenally. The supporting cast of this drama has done a great job as well. Week after week, team of Nazr e Bad proves how much hard work they have put into this project & how much they want people to learn from what they are trying to show. I can’t wait for the next episodes, please share your thoughts about these 2 episodes of Nazr e Bad.

Cheers,

Given that two leading names of the television industry will be joining hands for this project, one can surely expect a serial with quality production and a powerful script.

Ever since the promos of the drama released, the anticipation has only increased and we can’t wait for it to start. The drama which seems to be high on love and emotions stars Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas in the lead roles.
