Naml – An Overview

Naml is a popular novel written by Nemrah Ahmed and I personally wasn’t enticed by it because of the relationship complexities it revolved around. Finally high-five to all the Namlians I became a Namlian too just after forcing myself to read it whether I was getting the relationships or not but I must say the novel has great potential and it has some huge lessons to offer. At first it was hard to contemplate but soon it reveals itself and the pearls of wisdom just dropping by in each episode make you wonder and ponder about the characters and comprehend their emotional state. Every character in naml has depth in true sense. From time to time it becomes difficult to understand the character and their true intentions. Heads off to Nemrah Ahmed for such a delightful experience of true knowledge of Quran. May Allah Reward her. Murder! is the subject it mainly concerns but its Nemrah Ahmed so there are many different dimensions to it. Let’s have a look into the plenteous aspects it is manifesting:

1. Status:

The two blood relationship families have different status obviously we all know the ‘’Kardaars’’ the synonym is ‘’Kardashians’’ are having financially a great hold over others and their family could be appropriately awarded by a title as ‘’Evilish Kingdom’’ and the’’ Kings of the Devils’’ is none other than Hashim Kardaar. Although his personality in literal sense is impressive but he is pure evil.  I have a question for Hashim Kardaar (the Modern Firoun of this era):  ‘’kisi ka khoon kardenay kay baad ya kisi ko sakht aziyat denay kay baad ghareeboan main khaana bantwa lenay se zameer aur dil ki taskeen hojati hai?’’

On the other hand we have Yusuf’s family belonging to middle class status are highly appreciable in sense of responsibility, family bonding and true concern for each other.  So the status rank depicts the true picture of our society where the murderers are not destined for punishment if they have an evilest mastermind Hashim Kardaar. Yes, the rich people have plenty of contacts and they can easily murder someone and even not feel guilty because they know how to and when to bribe people and set the ground for themselves. Yusuf’s family after losing Waris Ghazi are trying hard to punish the murderers in a tactful way , Saadi being the heart throb is not the same Saadi anymore and we lost our masoom Saadi and his only crime was taking action for justice.

2. Family Protection:

Both families are trying hard to protect their families and they have justification for every action they take. I must say they are super smart in justifying their acts.  The only justification Kardaars have for their horrendous acts is family protection and same is the case with Yusuf’s family.  Here we have the wicked way and the right way to do it and is written magnificently.

3. Lesson For Girls Through Haneen:

The best , No wait …not the best but one of the best part of this novel are the messages and great tafseer of Quran through which Haneen seeks guidance and heals herself so here comes the ways to get rid of Ishq that causes nothing but eats your soul and causes depression .Many different types of Ishq and Muhabbat are explained and even the word’’ ISHQ’’ is amazingly comprehended.  After Saadi’s tafseer of Quran, which broke off as he escaped from the imprisonment of Hashim, Haneen’s healing process takes over and this series of Quranic explanation is started again . The conversation between Haneen and Zumar showed that Zumar’s heart has started melting a bit slow but at least it has evoked.  A great way to manifest the importance of Salah and explaining it as a true means of connection with Allah and the part where the teacher explains each step pf Salah was very touchy.  I appreciate the writer’s effort in beautifully demonstrating every aspect of Salah so that the younger generation be inspired.

4. Bitter Experiences and Changes In Characters:

After reading the last two episodes the very prominent thing I conclude are the changes which took place in different characters of Naml, this mainly concerns the part where Saadi Logs in the Facebook account of her mother and finds that life has changed for everyone, each one of them have moved on and yet Saadi remains static but he himself has changed a lot. He is not that masoom this is what he thinks even after logically and evidently putting forth the idea of ‘Self-defense’. Saadi believes he is no more innocent. Well Saadi has changed now he plays mind games and trusts no one but that is fair enough of what he has gone through. Saadi’s condition is very sad as he had no food to eat for two days Zaalim Kardaars. Haneen is on her way of healing and Sheikh’s book is also helping her.  Osama has grown up and Faris Ghazi is afraid of turning into Atheist due to the wrong number that was fed into his head by Ahmer.  Ahmer internally I think is quite disturbed because he could now clearly see where the Kardaar’s are heeding him.  Zumar’s heart is started melting and I must say this month’s episode was a great emotional upheaval for her, she was hurt and broken.

5. Faris-Zumar-Aabdaar Triangle:

Aabadaar is the older Baharay Gull from JKP, yeah shocking right but Nemrah Ahmed revealed that in Facebook as one of the smarties has guessed it right. So here we have Baharay Gull damaging the relationship of Faris and Zumar.I mean seriously!!!! She was masoom, mazhabi and pyaari and that’s not the action of such an innocent ‘’Surkh Gurya’’.  The work wife of Faris is definitely trying to become the original wife. That is quite weird to see Aabdaar but I think there is much more to her character and we might ( it’s a big might) like her.

Ending and Predictions:

I was glad to see Naushervan going against her family maybe it’s the first step of their clash and now the unity of Kardaars is not the same anymore which is a good sign.  Sneak Peak and its guesses were out of question it was hard to guess.

Episode ended but what an end it was Zumar being crashed and torn apart by Aabdaar bibi out of jealousy and Faris was completely helpless.

The Questions that arise are:

1-Will Faris be able to locate Saadi before Hashim’s men?

2- Is Haneen completely healed or she needs something more?

3-Will Saadi’s self-deceptive assumptions would make him abandon her family forever?

4-Will Aabdaar be Saadi’s  heroine?( In JKP it was mentioned if I am not mistaken  Baharay was similar to Haya , Haya changed and so could Aabdaar).

5-Would Hashim ever change to good?

6-What was the adventurous thing that Faris will give to Aabdaar in return of her favour?  7-A Million Dollar Question….Will Faris be able to commit 3 murders ?

Unsunni – Overview

Unsunni par my unsunni thoughts!

Well! Unsunni has been on air for a while now and I do not know what it was about the play, but I just did not feel interested enough to watch it. Airing every Monday on PTV Home, written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and directed by Ehraz Ali Mirza, Unsunni stars Mehwish Hayat, Junaid Khan, Sajid Hasan, Shamim Hilali amongst others.

Wanting to watch something that could just play in the background while I set upon the task of addressing invitation cards for my brother’s wedding, I thought I would give it a shot. Before I say anything else, let me tell you what made me almost switch off the first episode within the first 5-10 minutes. Not in this particular order but this is what I saw:

PIC1

Followed by:

PIC 2

And then:

PIC 3

Mehwish Hayat with the pen in her mouth that made me recoil and say ewwww. Pen tip in your mouth or behind your ear or holding your bun together is okay, but like that? Then Junaid Khan’s awful, awful hairstyle. Shahryar Zaidi presented as the flirtatious boss threw me off too as I really like him as an actor and like the fatherly roles he normally does and I personally did not like seeing him like this. Making it worse, he said to Junaid khan what a dashing personality he has who smiled back in all his cheerum glory. I know offices have cubicles but somehow the angle of this one made it seem like a chicken slaughter house. Throw in the odd Turkish music playing in the back – and I honestly do not know why I did not turn off the TV!

Unsunni is the story of Sadaf (Mehwish Hayat) and Yasif (Junaid Khan). I know, duh, you have that figured – bear with me. They knew each other back at university and flashbacks show that Yasif was attracted to Sadaf but she was engaged to her cousin Mukhtar (Sajid Hasan). Mukhtar is 22 years older than her (I know, I sort of gulped at that too) but when his parents died, Sadaf’s parents raised him and then when Sadaf’s father died, Mukhtar felt obliged to step up and help his chachi and cousins as much as he could. He picks and drops them to college and work. Anyways, Sadaf tells Yasif that she is married and he is shocked and backs out of her life.

They meet years later when Yasif begins to work at the bank where Sadaf is already working. He learns that she was only bluffing when she had said earlier that she was married. Apparently he is still in love with her and eventually she begins to have feelings for him too. She shares her feelings with her mother who is appalled at first but things work out well with Mukhtar taking his leave and moving to Dubai before Yasif and Sadaf get married. Trouble begins to brew as Sadaf being ambitious gets promoted at work whereas Yasif is not. She is also transferred to another branch where she meets an old university friend and Yasif keeps hearing what Sadaf has done all day at work from his ‘hum hairstyle jasoos’ teaboy. He begins to grow obsessive and suspicious, which results in him lashing out a couple of times, once even physically. His friends, Danish and Zara begin to worry that he is not all there mentally and seek the advice of a psychiatrist.

The psychiatrist’s advice had to be the most I- don’t- know -what advice I have ever heard! Yasif tells him that when he accuses Sadaf of anything he wants her to yell back at him, hit him etc. The psychiatrist happily passes that piece of advice to Danish who tells Zara who tells Sadaf who at first horrified at the thought – actually slaps him during one of their arguments. All is well now? Ummm, no – Yasif beats her to within an inch of her life and eventually divorces her.

PIC 4

Hence begins the second half of the drama. Forward five years and we see Yasif arriving in Karachi with his wife Zoya (ZQ) and a son, Danny. He moves into a block of flats where he comes across Sadaf. She apparently lives in the flat right opposite his. We see Sadaf is married to Mukhtar. I was most curious to see the relation between the two and was pleasantly surprised to see one of mutual affection. Next morning, Yasif goes to work – yes, the same branch where Sadaf works. It was evident Yasif was consumed by jealousy when he was married to Sadaf but after the divorce he had a complete breakdown and was ‘treated’ for his mental illness. He still needs to take medication as he begins to lose control quite easily. His marriage with zoya is turbulent as well. Turns out he married her as soon as he divorced Sadaf and whether she was also half crazy or his madness made her crazy or that is just how she deals with him – I do not know.

What follows next is predictable. Yasif for all his ‘I do not want to barbaad Sadaf’s ghar’ is setting out to do just that. Sadaf although at first tries to avoid talking to him or seeing him, begins to be drawn to him again especially after she learns he was unwell and seems to be ‘genuinely’ repentant. Mukhtar is out of town for a couple of days so she spends the days meeting Yasif and talking to him and growing closer to him. Their boss, mutual friends and now respective spouse all learn the truth about them but Yasif and Sadaf seem to be past caring about anyone else but each other. The drama has not ended yet and although it would seem obvious that these two will get married again I am curious to see if that really does happen.

I would say that this drama’s strongest point are its dialogues – true. Although having said that, I personally can not digest itnay heavy dialogues as I binge watched the play. Maybe smaller doses for me would have been a better idea. But that is just me – I know there are huge fans of KRQ and for them this drama’s dialogues would have not been a disappointment. There were some lines though such as the whole ‘Zara being Bhabhi and Bhabhi being a mother but then maa ko girlfriend bana diya that literally make me shake my head in confusion and then the kamina and salaa that appeared every two seconds made me want to turn into a recluse for a few days in fear of the words slipping from my mouth too!

But then the direction. The scenes I described at the beginning of my article. The dance sequences at Qudoos Sahab’s (Shahryar Zaidi) parties were cringe worthy. Oh but I was most tickled to see the Dostea TVC aunty (thanks to Zahra Mirza I had a good laugh at that TVC)- dancing here too in her role of Mrs. Qudoos. Maybe that’s why she disappeared later in the episode – the Dostea team swooped her up for the shooting of their TVC! Also, Sadaf and Yasif’s bedroom, the out of place Friends poster in Sadaf’s flat and the cheerleader poster looked very odd. The drama definitely did not seem as if it were shot in today’s times but then it was not trying to pass off as a drama of an older era either so I am not sure why it was made that way. At times I felt that there was not a convincing flow from one scene to the other as some scenes seemed to end abruptly.

PIC 5

I normally feel nothing for Junaid Khan’s acting or his roles. But I do have to say, for me at least, he has performed really well. Once I got past that awful hairdo, I saw him as a jealous husband who eventually went totally crazy and then when he comes back in Sadaf’s life – he is mentally unstable, selfish, manipulative, pitiful to an extent and I felt him portray all these sides to his personality. I really dislike his character. Obviously Sadaf’s character is not without blame but the way Yasif plays up the emotional blackmail, like at the beach suicide scene made me really despise him. I could not bring myself to give him a free pass thinking he is mentally unstable. Also, we are earlier meant to believe that he moved to her building and work purely by chance whereas later he tells Zoya he planned it all.

Mehwish Hayat surprised me. I saw her in Man jalli and Meray qatil meray dil dar and thought she was a decent actress and then all I saw were her dance promos on tv and her lips. And that’s all I saw in the beginning as well – the lips. But then she emerged and I began to relate to her as Sadaf. I liked how she tried to make her marriage with Mukhtar work and I agree she tried to stay away from Yasif but I think that is what made me keep watching. How does a woman who is trying her best to stay away – finally give in to temptation. I wanted to see whether it was a sudden moment, a sudden chance etc or it would be an eventual play of events and that would make her take that route.

The supporting characters did their bit really well too. Sajid Hasan has always been a favourite and Shamim Hilali is her few scenes was convincing. Zoya’s scenes where she throws the vase and smacks him with the mirror had me gasping in horror but also made me dissolve into giggles! Thankfully Shahryar Zaidi did not dwell in his flirtatious role for long. And then the character of  Farzand Ali – his dialogues delivery and expressions made me think maybe he was meant to be funny and cute but I didn’t feel either. However he seemed to play an important role and tried to keep Yasif and Sadaf away from each other. In fact that’s what I liked about the side characters- Sadaf’s university friend Rizwan, Qudoos Sahab, Farzand Ali all tried to play positive role in their lives, help them when they needed and tried to not encourage Sadaf and Yasif when they tried to get closer to each other. Oh, and of course how can I forget another important character – the tiffin! If Sadaf did not keep needing to remind Yasif to wait while she got her tiffin when he dropped her to work, if their tiffins were not identical and not swapped at lunch time, if Mukhtar did not get Sadaf a new tin – the story could not progress as it did. So ‘tiffin’ performed well too!

PIC 6

The story in in itself is not exceptional. It is intriguing enough to make you want to see where all this ends up though. I would skip the first few episodes if I knew what the story was and then watch the rest. Whether Sadaf and Yasif are right to be doing what they are doing, whether ‘love knows no reason’ even applies to such a situation where I am not even sure what the lead characters feel is love and whether that gives them a right to be cheating their spouses – is open to each individual’s opinion and interpretation. I do not know what even drew Sadaf to Yasif for his character is not charming at all. He believes she was his ‘first’ love and his ‘first’ wife hence he truly feels he is not wrong in doing all he is doing. Again, superb advice from another psychiatrist that was dished out to Yasif – Sadaf was the cause of his illness and she is the cure for his illness too…go figure!!

I am going to pop in a little disclaimer here – KRQ die hard fans please do not take any part of my review to heart. I often wonder whether I lack this ‘KRQ appreciation gene’ and I do to an extent. Having said that, it was the direction in this play and the extremely cheesy dialogues in the first few episodes that threw me off. After that, I was engrossed enough to watch it till the 25th episode. It definitely is more interesting than a lot more plays on air at the moment but it took a lot of effort to sit through the initial episodes and I wish the director had done a better job for I am sure a lot of people gave up on the play because of those early episodes.

How many of you have watched Unsunni so far? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Tere Mere Beech – Episode 19!

Ohkay so, this episode of Tere Mere Beech didn’t offer much & didn’t take the story forward as well but I really think this one is going to be the last episode which will serve as a filler as in the episodes to come, they will show some progress in the story, this is my assumption & a bit of a wishful thinking too because I really feel this drama needs to wrap up ASAP as they have spent a lot of time & haven’t shown what they should have by now.

Seems like Zahida has forgotten about her daughter Hareem & has adopted Sadia as her replacement because of which she seems overly concerned about Sadia’s marriage. Just an episode ago, Zahida was fainting while remembering Hareem but she recovered pretty soon from her predicament & planned on acting like a cupid that is rooting for Asad & Sadia’s marriage. I really don’t like when the side characters get more screen-time than the main leads & in this drama, this has been the case since last so many episodes. I so am not interested in finding out what transpires between Asad & Sadia because their track seems forced & not to mention the absence of chemistry between the two actors doesn’t help either.

I actually liked how Nasreen gave a reality check to Hareem because it looked like she really took it seriously & realized that everything that Nasreen said was a bitter reality. I really like how both Nasreen & Shela are helping Hareem in their own respective ways where Nasreen is a bit stern & Shela is a bit lenient but they both mean & wish well for Hareem, so that is why they don’t leave any single opportunity to teach & guide her because if there’s something that Hareem needs the most, it is their guidance.

It was good to see Hareem taking everything seriously & feeling like a failure because she knew what Nasreen said wasn’t a lie & all the things that her father mother had taught her were wrong & now she was a nobody & she had nothing left to be arrogant & prideful about. I really like how Hareem actually felt that she needed to change her perspective, she needed to change her thinking & she needed to learn something totally opposite to what her parents have taught her. For the first time Hareem understood the importance of having her own identity & that is why she started listening to Shela vigilantly. Shela took her to the NGO that she runs because she knew this was the time when Hareem was ready to be faced with the reality & now when Hareem has taken the initiative herself, she will grasp all that she will learn from other’s experiences. It was good that all the stories that Hareem heard touched her & she was moved in a way that will only benefit her.

Ali on the other hand decided to get in contact with Tariq Zaman & inform him about Fahad. I really liked this twist to be honest because it goes to show that may be Fahad will be put behind the bars for all the things he has done & we won’t be getting a typical & unrealistic ending where Hareem will forgive him & they will start living happily ever after. Fahad deserves to get punished for all that he has done & I hope we get such an ending where Hareem comes out stronger than ever, she becomes self-sufficient, she learns how to be independent & learns that she is better off without a con like Fahad. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Tere Mere Beech.

Aabro – Episode 16!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro continued with the ordeals both Ali & Aabro are facing, but surprisingly, they took the story forward by 4 years & looks like they are now going to make the younger lot the center of attention & somehow that will serve as a redemption for Ali & Aabro & through Afhseen, Ali & Aabro will get their lost respect back.

Aabro continued to work as a personal maid of Fauzia while she was carrying a child & Zubaida took it as an opportunity to insult Aabro day & night because she knew she was dependent on them financially. I really thought that may be after so many years, the bitterness in Zubaida must’ve subsided but she proved that she is all about negativity & that is why, she continued with the disparity among her grandchildren. Zubaida shouldn’t be so shallow to treat Ali & Abid’s children differently because by the end of the day, the kids are not at fault & they are not responsible for what their parents do or have done in the past. I really expected better from Zafar & Fauzia but looks like they have harbored a lot of grudges in their hearts against Aabro & Ali, that is why none of them till date have told Zubaida off for how wrong she has been.

Out of all the people, Fauzia should be the one putting a lid on the past & forgiving Aabro & Ali but like she said, she can only extend a pity of few moments as Shahida has instilled that much humanity in her. Also, I found it kind of funny that even after 4 years Fauzia was wearing the same black/blue suit that she was wearing during her pregnancy. Anyways, it is sad to see that such a nice company of such a nice guy like Abid hasn’t changed Fauzia at all & she still has some ill feelings in her heart for Aabro & Ali.

I really felt bad every time I saw Afsheen being ill-treated by Zubaida, but I must say, the scenes where Abid spoke nicely to her & treated her with affection were heart-warming too. Every time I see Abid showcasing such kindness towards Ali’s family, I always wonder how did that apple fall from the tree in this family. Anyways, it was good to see that Ali & Aabro were still standing by each other’s side. However, I really fail to understand why both of them didn’t do anything to improve their financial condition in these 4 years? Ali could’ve changed his job or should’ve gone for teaching, also, Aabro could’ve taken some tuition too but seems like they themselves got comfortable with how much money they were making, which is why they didn’t bother much about improving their condition.

Hamid had nothing new to offer to the story, so it was good to see his part ending in the drama, where he got married & left with his lady love. I also feel that now when Sakina was all by herself & Aabro & Ali got a clear message that they weren’t going to be forgiven, then why didn’t they shift with Sakina to her place? At least that would’ve made things a tad bit easier for both the parties where Aabro could’ve gotten the emotional support of Sakina & similarly Sakina would’ve gotten someone who’d look after her. At least it would’ve been much much better for Ali & Aabro because that way they had protected their daughter from such rude behavior of Zubaida.

Anyways, the preview of the next episode suggested something promising where now the kids will take the story forward & the kids will become the reason behind their parent’s success & failure. Looks like Fauzia has gotten a bit too comfortable in her life that she doesn’t bother sparing some time for her school-going kid too & on the other hand, Ali & Aabro are investing all their energies in raising Afsheen properly by giving her the utmost attention & love, which is something really sweet. I hope they wrap the drama up with a good message in next couple of episodes. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Dil Lagi – Episode 4

“Mujhe mohabbat samaj nahi aati, mujhe sirf izzat samaj ati hai. Mohabbat na miley tu sirf dil tootta hai, agr izzat chali jaye tu asman tootta hai.” Anmol really is one-of-a-kind, she is not only strong-headed but also extremely unpredictable. All through tonight’s episode Anmol kept the viewers guessing, I am certain many other viewers out there just like me were wondering what her next move will be. Even now I am quite uncertain whether this last meeting with Mohid really was a last meeting or the final test after which Anmol was going to decide if Mohid deserved her or not. After a long time we are getting to see a heroine in our dramas who believes in finding solutions to her problems. Anmol’s confidence in herself and her values have been highlighted as an integral part of her overall personality right from the first episode.

dillagi1

Anmol however has very different standards when it comes to her sister. Mishaal’s stance that she would much rather not marry someone who does not trust her and did not have the guts to take a stand for her was absolutely right but even then Anmol did not agree with her. Does the motherly instinct take over when Anmol makes decisions for her sister? It really does look like that is the case because Anmol is quite ‘reckless’ when it comes to dealing with her own problems. She doesn’t think much about the consequences and does what she wants to do therefore in that way Mohid and Anmol are quite similar. This particular scene in which Mohid comes to Anmol’s house and later on suggests that Dastagir will marry Mishaal was one of the most entertaining scenes of the entire episode. The chemistry between all these actors and a very powerful script make every scene stand out. Dastagir’s immediate reaction to this proposal and the effect it had on him later on was hilarious! I have said this before but I feel the need to say this again that Imran Ashraf is beyond remarkable as Dastagir. He owns his role and does not falter for a second. His acting in this play is poles apart from his disappointing performance in Gul-e-Rana, which basically goes to show what a big difference an intelligent script and a good director can make. I was expecting a confrontation between Mohid and Dastagir after Mohid found out what he had done was the result of a misunderstanding communicated through Dastagir but the way this bromance has been handled in this drama is amazing! These two are inseparable and the chemistry between them makes this relationship even more relatable.

dillagi2

It took me some time to warm up to the main leads but in this episode Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed both stole the show. I felt for Mohid and was in awe of Anmol’s character. Mohid’s relationship with his mother has been shown very beautifully too. Saba Hameed’s character and the way she has translated this character on screen makes it extremely likeable. Mohid’s sister’s reaction to everything that was going on in the house went to show that her proposals or proposal was probably rejected because the boy was not part of the family or clan. Although she tries her best to make her mother realize that she has double standards but the fact is that Mohid really is maa ka ladla and she will do anything to make her son happy. So far she has not been shown as an insecure mother who thinks that her son’s wife will steal her son from her.

All the confrontations between Anmol and Mohid were beyond brilliant. Anmol hasn’t hit Mohid so far like she hit every other man who was after her but she has said plenty to him which clearly shows that she does not even have an ounce of respect for him. Unlike many other dramas nowadays these two episodes of Dil Lagi in particular were completely free of filler scenes. Every single scene and each dialogue in this episode deserved to be cherished. The only thing which made me uncomfortable was the way Mohid ‘manhandled’ Anmol. How could someone like Anmol allow him to do that? It was something that could easily have been avoided since if someone like Anmol can keep herself from hitting Mohid then the same rule should apply to Mohid as well. Overall, It was a power-packed episode and the preview of the next episode suggests there will be even more action in the upcoming episode!

Gul-e-Rana – Last Episode

*Spoiler Alert*

The impossible happened today; Asher ne chai se inkar kr diya, Adeel underwent a complete personality change which made me wonder if he had eaten one of those rare mushrooms which effect a person’s nervous system and alter their personality completely, Rana’s mother seemed concerned about her daughter for the first time and most of all for the very first time one of the heroines of our dramas decided to do something that made her happy and did not forgive a man who put her through hell. Rana never had feelings for Adeel, she was forced into this marriage and Adeel did not give her much of a reason to love him therefore watching Rana finding her happiness in doing what she always wanted to do was fair enough. Adeel’s father was not even shown in this episode, he should have been given a few minutes or so if not more. Adeel should’ve had one last conversation with his father as well. This was an unexpected ending since most of the viewers were expecting Rana to forgive Adeel.

gr1

Adeel conveniently blamed his bari phupo and choti phupo for all the flaws in his personality even though the viewers saw him treating them like he treated everyone else around him. So, Adeel thought about everything he had done wrong in life while he was bed-ridden but why were the viewers told that in one conversation and not shown what was going through his mind? In episode 19 we saw a completely different Adeel who was too busy judging everyone and spying on Rana and in episode 20 after Asher and Omer’s visit he completely changed!! Why were all these episodes after Adeel’s accident wasted on baseless arguments and showing the negative side of Adeel when they could have been utilized to show how he was changing? Perhaps because showing all of that needed a little more creativity. Adeel’s friend who came to see him was seriously confused. First she said that she did not know he was married and then she says “meinay suna tha tumhari mrs. ke saath relations achay nahi hei”!! Did I miss something?? I must confess I felt for Adeel a little in tonight’s episode mainly because of Feroze Khan’s acting and Sajjal Ali was beyond brilliant tonight. All the actors did their part really well, except for Imran Ashraf and Rubina Ashraf,  but unfortunately their characters and the story did not have much to offer.

gr2

As far as I can recall only 3 episodes of this play made sense to me other than that just like this haphazard ending the script as a whole had too many unconvincing and ill-conceived twists and turns. Most of the episodes focused around Adeel and Rana’s dysfunctional marriage and this main track of the story also lacked substance because the problems between Adeel and Rana were shown in the form of arguments which most often revolved around character assassination. Adeel did not trust Rana and Rana had tons of reasons to hate Adeel but the way the change in Adeel’s attitude was shown in these two episodes once again showed the lack of vision, creativity and depth in the script. The flaws in the script, editing mistakes and the director’s inability to handle all the tracks in the story intelligently made this overrated drama nothing more than an over-crowded circus which was not even entertaining. Many of the characters that were introduced as primary characters in the story disappeared in many episodes and reappeared when they were needed. Adeel’s phupos and their daughters who got so much screen time in many episodes were only ‘used’ in the end to justify Adeel’s twisted personality.

I would like to thank all my wonderful readers who were kind enough to read the reviews and participate in the discussions. I must say that I wouldn’t have been able to continue watching and reviewing this play if I didn’t have these discussions to look forward to!

Iman Ali And Hamayun Saeed Will Be Seen Together In A Film

0

Hamayun Saeed has made his comeback in dramas after many years from drama serial Dillagi but it looks like films are his first love right now. That is why he will be seen in another film after the mega success of his last film Jawani Phir Nahi Aani. This time Hamayun Saeed’s leading lady will be the gorgeous actor Iman Ali who is more known for her modeling than her acting because she has done more in that field then in the field of acting. Iman Ali also it looks like is focusing on films more because she is playing an important role in the upcoming film Mah-e-Mir.

iman

According to the news this film will be titled “Mein Punjab Nahi Jaongi”. The script of the film has been written by the very famous writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar but unlike many of the other works written by the writer this one will be a romantic comedy. The film will be produced by Six Sigma Plus and it will be directed by the director Nadeem Baig who was behind the film Jawani Phir Nahi Aani.

5

Six Sigma Plus also posted a video clip in which Hamayun Saeed and Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar are seen standing together. In this video Hamayun Saeed announced,

“Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is going to work exclusively for Six Sigma Plus for the next 3-4 years. Our production house will use all it has got to ensure that his dramas are shown on every channel and his scripts get the best treatment.”

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar also said that he had always wanted to work with Six Sigma Plus and he always considered the production house his very own. We are waiting to see what this collaboration brings for the viewers.

Agha Ali Shares His Views About Marriage

0

Agha Ali is the rising star of Pakistani drama industry who will be seen in films very soon. Agha Ali has crazy female fan following because of his looks and talent. This is why when he was invited to Aplus’ Morning Show he was titled as “sapno ka raja”. While answering questions about marriage and whether Agha Ali will be willing to leave everything for a girl he loves, he gave some very practical answers. He also gave references to some of his dramas to tell how sometimes dramas can teach actors some lessons too.

agha ali1

While talking about how important loyalty is in a relationship Agha Ali said,

“I believe in being loyal in marriage or in any kind of a relationship. You live once, you love only once and you get married only once too. People who are not loyal with others are not loyal to their own selves too.”

Talking about his marriage plans he said,

“I don’t think this is the right time. I stay too busy with my work. I work sometimes 18 or 19 hours a day so how can I get married? I think no one should get married until they are totally ready for it. My advice to anyone who is watching me right now is that don’t take marriage so lightly as something which needs to be done. Be very responsible while taking this decision only then you will stay happy.”

agha

Farah asked him whether he will marry someone he loves or someone his parents choose for him. Replying to this question he said,

“I will marry someone I love but with my mother’s consent. If there is a scenario that my mother does not approve of the girl I love then I will wait till she approves of her.”

Agha Ali was very open during the whole discussion which made it more entertaining to watch.

Talented Members Of Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team – Pictures

0

There was a time when cricket was considered a sport for men only. When in the last 90s two sisters Shazia and Sharmeen Khan put forth the idea that there should be a women’s cricket team in Pakistan, they were threatened by many groups. It was considered a strange idea in a country which is considered conservative but it wasn’t very long after this that the Pakistan Cricket Board decided that women should also participate in cricket and that is when the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team was established which represents Pakistan on international level.

The Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team has been playing since 1997 but their recent accomplishments in International cricket have brought them more fame than ever before. The present team consists of 24 members. Sana Mir is the captain of the team.

Here are some pictures of these talented women.

Kisay Chahoon – Episodes 17 and 18

Hmm, I am not so sure I like the way the story is progressing and the track it seems to have moved on to now. I think the whole reason I found Kisay Chahoon so charming was that besides Ameer’s delightful character it was not a ‘heavy’ watch. Nobody was dying, no saas bahu plotting, doosri biwi, the works. And keeping faith in that, I am hoping that what Hamza and Mehru are up to is nipped right in the bud – like right now.

Mareena survives her suicide attempt and emerges as crazy as ever. I should not even be making fun of her anymore as it appears she really does need medical help. Hamza has managed to convince his father in law that Mareena should seek professional help. I have to say I really do not believe there was even an iota of concern for Mareena in Hamza’s desperation for her father to help her. I believe he just wants to be rid of her now. When Mareena is leaving for the US and asks Hamza if he will miss her and he says of course, it made me laugh and say ‘jhootay, dil mein laddu phoot rahay hain’.

For all her craziness, Mareena is not naïve. The cells in her brain that are devoted to Hamza (which would probably be about 98 percent – 2 per cent I would say are devoted to making sure those horrendous clogs are always by her side wherever she is) are always in overdrive. She only agreed finally to accompany her father when he assured her Hamza would be ‘watched’ 24/7. And her parting words to Hamza were priceless because now if he threatens to leave her she will not only kill herself (yawn) but get this – Hamza ko bhi maar day gee. Ha!

PIC1

Enough of Marina. The main development in these two episodes – Mehru meeting Hamza. I do not understand why Hamza asked to meet her. I do not understand why Mehru agreed to meet him. I do not understand why they actually went ahead and met each other. And I am glad I do not understand. I am all for ‘dil knows no logic’ and all that but not when both Mehru and Hamza are married and meeting without telling anyone else and when they have that much history between them.

I found all of Hamza’s conversations with Mehru annoying and lame. Mujhay achay dost ki zaroorat hai. I need a friend. All I want from you is friendship. Or wait, did it not used to be ‘fraaaandship’. This guy is worse than a teenager with his perpetually inclined head and now this ‘fraandship’ line that probably even teenagers of today do not use anymore! It is so clear that trying to be ‘friends’ with Mehru will lead to nothing but disaster. Who is he kidding? On a lighter note, when he said to Mehru that Mareena has made his life hell I did say not true, I think uss nay Hamza ki zindagi rangon se bhar di hai….kahan woh oversized plaid shirts when he was a tutor and kahan yeh silky colourful shirts which automatically blend with his surroundings! I know I know, I have also become very impressed (not!) by Hamza’s amazing dress sense.

PIC2

And Mehru. She knows she is playing with fire too. She told Hamza that now they have no relation between them, not even that of friends or cousins but when Maryam confronts her she says he is still her friend and cousin and there is no harm in meeting him. I felt so awful that Ameer had to find Hamza in his home and hear what Mehru said about how her father has agreed to budge from his stance but not before ‘ruining’ one daughter’s life. He must have started to think before this moment – as did I – that Mehru had made peace with her circumstances and was not unhappy. I was quite disappointed by his reaction though. In any other drama, the guy in Ameer’s place would have thrown a fit and I get Ameer is different but sometimes I think this ‘sharaafat ussay lay doobay gee’. Mehru will announce I am leaving you for Hamza and he will say theek hai Mehru ji bas aap khush rahain, talaak ji mein nay daini hai ya aap nay?’ Uff!!

The preview for next week shows that Ameer has gone to visit his mother and Hamza and Mehru are having an argument in her house. So here is what I think could happen next:

a. Hamza and Mehru will keep meeting and Hamza’s mother will have a public showdown in front of both their families and Hamza being the spineless brat that he is will leave Mehru to fend for herself where Ameer will step up and emerge the hero in Mehru’s eyes.

b. Marina will ‘trick’ the Amreeki doctors into thinking she is fine and come back and discover Hamza is meeting Mehru and kill him and herself.

c. Ameer will see Mehru and Hamza meeting and when he asks her about it she will announce she is leaving him.

d. Hamza and Mehru. Ameer and Maryam. Ameer and Mareena. Hain?

Sigh, the possibilities are endless. I hope the next few episodes are not devoted to Hamza-Mehru meetings and that the story moves forward and things begin to wrap up now. I have also had more than enough of Mareena’s Hamza obsessed scenes and am getting a bit sick of them. I feel Ali Abbas has done an amazing job portraying Ameer’s character and I truly hope we are not meant to feel bad for Hamza being ‘trapped’ with Mareena because I find nothing good at all about his character. And this trying to reappear in Mehru’s life and insisting it is only friendship he seeks when his dialogues suggest much more makes me dislike him even more!

I repeat myself when I say I wish Mehru to end up with Ameer and that is solely for Ameer’s sake. Can I just mention here that in one of the episodes this week and then last week – the director managed to throw in one scene which had me grinning like a fool. I loved Ameer’s expression when Mehru asks him to take her to ‘samander kay kinaray’. Why oh why can she not just focus on Ameer and forget that wretched Hamza?

Mein Sitara – Episode 3

There were many new developments in this latest episode but I must confess that for the first time while watching this show I felt rushed. Also, there were some scenes like the dance shown in the party and Jharna Begum practicing music which took a lot of screen time. If that time was given to Jharna and Surraya’s relationship or Surraya alone then it would have been a more fulfilling experience. I understand that the director showed all these scenes to build an atmosphere but Surraya grew up too fast! Surraya’s character is one of the most appealing characters I have seen on screen in a long time therefore I wanted to see more of her in tonight’s episode too. The story of course is not just about Surraya therefore other aspects of Jharna and Farhad’s life had to be covered as well. I admit that this  was more of a ‘personal’ issue which I had with this episode but overall a great deal was covered in this episode in a very intelligent way.

The first and the most important aspect of these recent developments was that Jharna and Farhad finally managed to bridge the differences between them. The phase in which Farhad felt like his wife was neglecting him has passed and we saw Jharna taking a very active part in Farhad’s work life. Jharna also paid more attention to her music. It was good to see the problems between Jharna and Farhad being resolved. Jharna once again showed that she is a very wise and confident woman who does not get offended when her husband shares his concerns with her but she tried her best to overcome the problems between them. Right now apart from many other things about this drama, I am absolutely relishing the fact that we are finally getting to see a very normal married couple in a drama. So far the issues between these people who belong to a world very different from ours are very easy to relate to. The credit for that goes to the entire team; the writer, director and the actors. The conversations between Jhankar and Farhad are always very meaningful and the actors playing these roles are doing a remarkable job. I cannot praise Aisha Gul enough for nailing every single scene; it isn’t just her dialogue delivery which is beyond impressive but more than that her expressions and body language conveys more than anything she has to say. She has an undeniable screen presence and she has brought out the best in her character. The way Jharna looks at Farhad practically says everything she feels for him.

ms1

Jharna’s relationship with Surraya was shown in different stages in tonight’s episode. Jharna’s association with Surraya has grown stronger with time. Like I said before, young Surraya will be sorely missed and I hope that the older Surraya gives us a reason to forget all about her. Surraya cried for her family, wasn’t very keen to study and when she grew up she was still the same old person she was as a child. The viewers did not get to see a lot of older Surraya in this episode and I am really looking forward to seeing more of her in the upcoming episodes.

This episode focused more on Farhad and Jharna. It covered a span of 7 years and in these 7 years Farhad has established himself in the film industry. He is just as big a name in the film industry as he was in the television industry. People still respect and admire Jharna, something that was quite obvious from her meeting with Naseem Dil Ruba. I haven’t seen Meera performing in any drama ever therefore watching her play a serious character for the first time was a brand new experience! Meera was very convincing in the scene and so far it seems like this role was meant for her. Hassan Ahmed’s character was also introduced in tonight’s episode. He plays the character of Jamal; a relatively new actor who has a few television dramas to his credit and wants to work in films now. Both these characters were introduced just as well as all the other characters. This is one thing which I absolutely love about this show – clarity! You understand all the characters because of the way they have been introduced right from the start. This of course helps the viewers relate to the characters and the viewers are not left wondering about the motives of the characters. Jharna’s character is multi-dimensional; she is not just a star, she is a mother, she is a mentor, she is a wife who will not give up on her marriage and most importantly she is a very strong, honest and dedicated woman.

ms3

The young actress who played Surraya’s childhood won my heart with her splendid acting. She has given Surraya’s character an amazing start and even though we will not see her again in the upcoming episodes, she has made little Surraya unforgettable. Kudos to this little girl who gave a really big performance and kudos to the director for bringing out the best in her. A big thanks to Faiza Iftikhar for etching-out a character that is fascinating. The actress who covered few minutes of Surraya’s life after a few years was equally brilliant in the few scenes that covered those years. In these years we see Surraya getting even closer to Jharna, loved the scene in which she kisses her photo but she still seems scared and distant when she looks at Farhad’s picture. It is refreshing to see Mikaal Zulfiqar play a different role; although his character does not stand out the way Surraya and Jharna’s characters do but the viewers can relate to his struggles, ambitions and know exactly what his priorities in life are.

Overall, this was yet another episode of Mein Sitara which made me look forward to more. It would have been perfect if the dance performance in the beginning and Jharna’s music classes were cut short. This time around the viewers were not shown the preview of the next episode therefore there is no way of knowing what turn the story will take next. I am waiting to see more of Surraya and hope that the older Surraya will be just as fascinating as the young one. I recommend this drama to all the viewers out there who want to watch something different and entertaining.

Fawad Khan’s Bad Condition During Press Conference Cause Of Concern

0

Fawad Khan is a heart throb without any doubt. He is someone who gets the kind of attention hardly any other male star enjoys. Fawad Khan is also a diabetic because of which he has to look after his health while he works. There was an incident before too when Fawad Khan fainted on sets of Kapoor and Sons when his sugar levels declined. This time the same thing happened but in front of many cameras. Fawad Khan was talking to reporters while promoting his film Kapoor and Sons, that is when we can clearly see him trying very hard to keep his eyes open. He asks for Juice to deal with low sugar levels. He did not get the juice but was seen chewing on a chocolate bar to keep his sugar levels from getting even lower.

This video is being interpreted in different ways by people. Some people are saying that he was drunk but anyone who knows Fawad Khan’s health condition and is acquainted with the disease will understand his situation.

Nadia Khan Exposes Pakistani Stars Who Are Famous In India

0

There are some Pakistani celebrities who have lately become very famous in India. While some of these celebrities are still seen in Pakistani talk shows even after their work in India became famous but some of them have completely disappeared from Pakistani talk shows. People want to see them in Morning Shows because in these shows they also get an opportunity to talk to their favorite celebrity but it never happens.

Nadia Khan explained explicitly why these celebrities were not being seen on Morning Shows. Nadia said on her show,

“Our celebrities who should come to Morning Shows because people want to see them here and they are considered the cream of the industry have lost their minds after going to India so coming to Pakistani shows is degrading for them.”

Nadia Khan did not take any names but it is quite obvious who these celebrities can be. Mawra Hocane recently came to Nadia Khan’s show so she is certainly not talking about her. Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and even Atif Aslam could be stars who she is talking about. She even gave clues which would make it easier for people to guess who these stars could be. She said,

“These celebrities are even earning in Pakistan through working in commercials and doing such small projects which help them make good money. The kind of amount these stars quote to come to the Morning Shows is not affordable for any show in Pakistan so in other words they are refusing to come to these shows.”

Nadia Khan also said that these celebrities should know that Pakistanis made them who they are today. She said that the career in India has no guarantees but the love of the people of Pakistan is guaranteed.

Mana Ka Gharana – Episode 16!

Ohkay so, finally after a very long time, probably after a decade this episode of Mana Ka Gharana was good & happening because they moved the story forward & a lot was revealed.

First off, Maalik got to meet Zarri & told him that he ain’t letting her go anywhere, which was one of the scenes that I enjoyed watching the most. Zarri really needed that assurance because she should know that a person whom she’ll have to take a stand for was willing to walk an extra mile for her & Maalik exactly did that. He traveled all the way to Hyderabad to let her know that he will now take charge of the situation & won’t let anyone come in their way. Maalik is ready & now Zarri needs to convince herself that she is not the home-wrecker here & she is not the second woman either, she is someone who came into Maalik’s life when he was all alone, so they both deserve to be happy with each other.

Finally, Mana got to know the truth behind the pictures of Samar & Shehryaar that she stumbled upon. She not only found out that Samar was Shehryaar’s wife but she also got to know how Shehryaar ripped her family off & got the farm house that they were staying at. Looks like it’s one of Shehryaar’s hobbies to grab the properties of girls who enter his life. It was a huge shocker for her which is why she was emotionally shattered but oh dear, it will take a lot for her to convince her mother who is so in love with Shehryaar that she is not ready to listen to anything that Mana has to say.

I really thought that when Ghaalib will regain consciousness, he will make the right decision but looks like he woke up from the wrong side & his brain cells got damaged that even after all that Shehryaar did to him & his family, he was ready to give everything to him just because Mana’s happiness means a lot to him. Like seriously, who in his right state of mind will get his daughter married to such a guy who wasn’t even ashamed of mooching off of them? Also, how does giving away his home to Shehryaar guarantees that Mana will lead a happy life with him?

I swear, I really don’t know what will I do if I will hear Saleha talk rather spewing venom one. more. time. Like this lady is so full of filth & toxins that the moment she speaks, she intoxicates her surroundings. Saleha didn’t let Mana say what she wanted to because she was worried that it might take a toll on Ghaalib’s health, but the moment he woke up, she herself didn’t bat an eye while badmouthing Khizer like it was his fault that Ghaalib was in the hospital. Also, she didn’t even tell her husband that Khizer was the one who took him to the hospital & rather covered for Shehryaar, who was nowhere to be seen, like there’s a limit to being a blind minion but Saleha has crossed it. I really hope that after Ghaalib learns the truth about Shehryaar, he gives his wife such a reality check that she never opens her mouth again!!!!

Oh well, it was good to see Rota Ghaalib & Hansta Jahangir’s reunion. Looks like now Ghaalib will get a proper information about what transpired between his daughter Samar & his son in law Shehryaar that Samar passed away. I liked this twist & didn’t see it coming. All this while I thought may be Laila will be the one bursting the bubble but looks like her father will do the honors, but never mind, whoever does it, it needs to be done ASAP.

I don’t really get Mana’s attitude though, she goes around giving a tough time to people around her, like she is the one who has wrecked her whole family apart & she is the one because of whom everyone is suffering but still she hasn’t changed or humbled herself. The way she spoke to Laila was quite rude & why does she think that Khizer should have clung on to her even when she was almost gone from his life for good? Mana needs to understand that she is not always going to be the center of everyone’s universe, so she should take it easy on others!

Anyways, I am hoping that the next episode will be the last one but looks like they will take at least 2 – 3 episodes to wrap it up but as far as they are working towards the ending & not dragging things further, it’s cool. I must say the lighting & the makeup in this entire episode was really really bad & they all looked older all of a sudden, which shows that a good lighting makes such a huge difference. Also, I can’t really understand what was going on with Gul Bahar’s styling in this episode? Why was she dressed like a bag piper? May be Shehryaar hired her to play the bagpipes in his high-profile party that never really took place. Also, I wish while mooching off Samar’s property from her, Shehryaar had also snatched one of her combs because he’s always in a dire need of a proper comb to keep his untamed hair in place, which are always shooting out like tree branches from his head. Anyways, I am glad that the drama is going to end soon, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mana Ka Gharana.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Tum Kon Piya – Episode 2

This episode just like the last one was definitely not free of clichés but even then I enjoyed watching it. The story has nothing new to offer either since we have seen a rich boy falling in love with a seedhi sadhi not so rich girl so many times before too. Although this drama has all the ingredients which would normally put me off but the actors, use of good Urdu and the direction of the play makes it worth watching. The characters are black and white but so far they are realistic and therefore believable. There is definitely an undeniable chemistry between Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan which makes this love at first sight scenario more convincing than it usually is. I must add though that it would have been much better if the OST, especially the “tum kon piya” part was not played every time Elma and Ramish had an encounter.

All the characters were introduced with precision in the previous episode therefore this episode was all about taking different tracks forward. Ramish is in love with Elma but unlike many of our heroes he wants to know whether Elma feels the same way or not about him before sharing his feelings with his parents. Elma clearly finds Ramish attractive, we saw her day dreaming and reciting poetry which went to show that she was thinking about him. Ramish’s visits to Elma’s house became more regular and he made sure that he got a chance to talk to Elma while he was there. Elma’s father holds Ramish very dear to him therefore he showers him with love every time he pays a visit. He even covered up for Ramish in the office even though he knew the consequences. I am sure many viewers like me are waiting to find out how he reacts once he finds out how Ramish feels about Elma.

tkpRamish’s parents want him to marry someone rich, preferably someone from a business family so that she can change his thinking!! So we have another set of parents who think that getting their son married will solve all their problems! The viewers got to see clearly the vast difference in the thinking of Ramish and his father in the previous episode. In this episode too Ramish’s father was frustrated by his attitude and compared him to his older brother who is the perfect role model. Honestly speaking, the conversation between Ramish’s parents about his wedding was so clichéd and done-to-death that it made me laugh!!

Zarbab and Javeria’s track got almost as much screen time as Ramish and Elma’s track. Javeria is apparently as chalak and makar as Sharafat thinks she is! Sharafat however is not going to give up easily and this episode showed that Zarbab is quite incapable of taking a stand for himself. The preview of the next episode showed how this track will be connected to the main leads especially Elma. Although Elma’s character is that of a perfect girl who can do no wrong  and she has an overactive imagination, two traits which aren’t always appealing but somehow Ayeza Khan makes this character likeable. You don’t get distracted by the bangles or the made-up look but it adds to the overall impression this character has on the viewers. Ayeza Khan looks pretty and she has breathed life into a character which doesn’t have much to offer. Imran Abbas is equally convincing as the sacha ashiq! I must say that the supporting cast is doing a commendable job as well. Ali Abbas has really grown as an actor and it is great to see Yasir Shoro in a play after a long time. Hina Bayat is perfect as the not-so-sharif Sharafat! I must give the writer credit for using some beautiful words of Urdu in her dialogues. Although the story is typical but the dialogues are like poetry. Urdu is a beautiful language but not too many writers put it to good use while writing their scripts, Maha Malik has definitely done complete justice to our language in these two episodes. Yasir Nawaz and the production house deserves credit for making this play visually pleasing.

Overall, this episode was a good watch. If you are looking for something decent to watch, you should definitely tune into Tum Kon Piya but if you want something different and extraordinary than tuning into this drama might turn out to be a frustrating experience. Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 03!

Ohkay so, just like the previous episode, this episode of Zara Yaad Kar wasn’t impressive as well. I actually am quite surprised (read shocked) that a drama like Zara Yaad Kar has a name of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar attached to it because this is what enticed me to watch this play irrespective of a very mediocre cast but I am quite disappointed, not only with the characters but with the story & the dialogues too, which is something that always is one of the strongest points of his writings, but sadly, none of that is a part of Zara Yaad Kar, which makes me question whether this drama is actually written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar himself or not.

So, Haadi drew a line & told Uzma off clearly that he will not entertain her anymore. I was quite surprised at Uzma’s reaction, like she was actually heart-broken to find out that Haadi wasn’t going to accept any of her khidmaat anymore, like seriously what in the first place told Uzma that she could fall in love with a married man & also, in what state of mind did she expect that he will accept all that she was extending towards him? She was so heart broken that she promised to not open the gate for him & also told him about her timings so that they don’t cross paths anymore. Seriously, I do in my heart feel that Uzma is a nice girl & she deserves to be happy but I don’t think there ever will be a justification that will convince me that her feelings towards Haadi were reasonable, understandable & acceptable. Yes, I know, Haadi & Mahnoor’s relation will end pretty soon & then Haadi will have nowhere else to go but still, keeping that aspect aside, it is definitely not ohkay to see a girl getting the married man of her dreams in any case!

So, Mahnoor got a lift from her neighbor & just a single visit to his place has enticed her enough to probe about him & his personal life that she took it as an opportunity & put it to good use. Mahnoor really is immature, isn’t she because a guy, who she has hardly spoken to asked her why she wasn’t wearing a ‘leepstick’ & she didn’t find anything odd about it. Also, Mahnoor’s response was quite dodgy where she conveniently said ‘ghar walay’, which obviously showed that she wasn’t ready to tell Waqar about Haadi just yet because if she had been honest, she would’ve told Waqar that it is her husband who doesn’t like her wearing make-up in public. The door-bell prank that Mahnoor played on Waqar was quite cringe-worthy, it is like she is not letting go of him anymore & she is interested in maintaining some sort of contact or relation with him, which is quite awkward & questionable.

Haadi took the interaction between Mahnoor & Waqar the hard way because he knows the sort of people exist & the sort of people working women come across in their practical lives, who actually end up becoming a deviation for them & that is why, he didn’t hold back in telling her that he wasn’t too happy with the way Mahnoor was becoming comfortable with the idea of getting the free rides from home to office from her neighbor. The only thing that I liked about this entire episode was the note at which the episode ended where at first Haadi gave Mahnoor a free-hand to do what she wants, which was also a gesture to show that he respects Mahnoor’s choices, accepts all her likes & dislikes & loves her so much to curb his own feelings to make her happy but after doing all of that, he put forth his perspective that brought Mahnoor down to the ground & served as a reality check that she will come across a lot such people who will praise her for her beauty or for many other things but deep down, she needs to explore if she has that much of a will power to endure all of that & curb these temptations. I really really liked how subtly Haadi told her to grow up because he knows that this is exactly the right time for Mahnoor to wake up & smell the coffee.

I somehow feel that they should’ve given us a little background story of how Haadi & Mahnoor got involved & agreed to get married because going by what is being shown, Haadi definitely is not the kind of a guy that would appeal to a girl like Mahnoor so much that she will fall in love with him, so somehow I am kind of feeling the need to know more details about how it all started because seeing how Mahnoor is slipping away so conveniently from Haadi doesn’t really justify their decision of going for a Nikkah as well. I so wish Mahnoor wasn’t shown as such a desperate immature girl who fails to acknowledge & understand the gravity of the situation & intricacy of this sacred relation that she shares with Haadi.

Overall, this episode was quite disappointing but it ended at a good note where Haadi said the things that had to be conveyed. I am not impressed with the dialogues too because I am used to those deep & meaningful dialogues that we get to hear in Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s dramas but Zara Yaad Kar is a totally different case & not to sound harsh but some of the dialogues are so cheesy & typical to the point of being cringe-worthy as well. Also, I really don’t know what will I do if I hear the terminology ‘mard ka bacha’ one more time, like eeewww!!! Anyhow, I so feel that the director is trying really hard to maintain the pace but is not being able to achieve it because there aren’t many situations to combine & make a decent paced episode, therefore she has kept things quite slow to fill the 40 minutes up. Adnan Jillani’s character seems more like a caricature as there’s nothing realistic about him & not sure if he has a substantial role to play in the rest of the drama. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar!

1

Many other actors, directors and producers agreed with him. Few people also suggested that he should name the actress but he said that he was going to deal with the whole matter in a professional way.

“I am an all-rounder” – Qandeel Baloch

0

Ever since Qandeel Baloch’s facebook page was deactivated she has been getting more attention by the Pakistani media than she was before. Mubashar Lucman gave her the attention she has been wanting for a long time by inviting her to his show. And now she was invited to the talk show on News1 in which apart from her a famous Islamic scholar was also invited and actress Maria Zahid was part of the show. Maria Zahid came to the show because few days ago she gave the statement that girls like Qandeel Baloch were spoiling the image of other women who worked in the showbiz industry.

qb

While talking on the show Qandeel Baloch said,

“Every man in Pakistan is a pervert. Believe me, before the match many cricketers called me and said make a dance video for us.”

She took Umer Akmal’s name in particular so it remains to be seen if he will comment about this accusation or not. She also said that she never intended to do strip tease but it was just something she said to buck up the cricketers. Qandeel Baloch and Maria Zahid also had a heated argument on the show.

Watch the video here:

In another interview Qandeel Baloch said that she has no problem with people criticizing her but it hurt her when she uploaded a video and girls in particular kept on commenting that she should die.

Mann Mayal – Episode 10

This episode laid the foundations for Mannu and Salahuddin’s reunion. In the first few episodes Mannu’s father came across as a very cool-headed individual who was not very good at making decisions. At this point he is more of an emotional person who believes in making impulsive decisions perhaps because he regretted his decision of marrying Mannu off to Mikael. The way Mikael talked to him said a lot about the kind of person he was therefore Mannu’s father who already suspected that his daughter was not happy was pretty sure now that Mannu had been lying to them all long. In one of her conversations with Mikael Mannu mentioned that in her family marriage was considered a sacred relationship which was meant to last but so far we have seen nothing of that sort in Mannu’s house. Mannu’s phupo is not married, Sara baji’s mother did not let her go back to her husband for months because of a minor issue, Mannu’s parents married her off without giving it much thought and now Mannu’s father does not want her to go back to Mikael. Therefore, until now nothing that we have seen in Mannu’s family implies that they take marriages very seriously!

mm

Salahuddin’s parents were finally shown talking about their son! I must say that I am very disappointed with the way this whole track has been handled. One fine day the parents break all ties with their son and then we never see them missing him or talking about him. Salahuddin has also not made an effort to patch things up with his parents but in the next episode when he comes back home, I am guessing everything will be alright. Ifty’s father looked content in the previous episode but in this episode like any other patient who is in his situation he gave up altogether and was ready to die.

mm1

Kuki’s character is another extreme!! The way she interpreted what was going on was beyond ridiculous. The characters in this drama are very black and white so far. Ifty and Kuki are bad people who are incapable of doing anything right. Salahuddin is the good guy who has made some bad decisions in life but overall his character has a lot of positive traits. Mikael is all bad, no doubt about that and our Mannu has been turned into a typical bechari who hardly talks any more. The developments in Mikael’s life were covered in such detail so that the viewers would be able to connect to the scene in which he misbehaves with Mannu’s father but even then some of the scenes had done-to-death written all over them. Salahuddin’s conversations with Bia in tonight’s episode revolved around Mannu. In the next episode Bia will be the one who will tell him that Mannu might get divorced.

mm2

The only good thing about this episode was the advice Ifty’s father gave Salahuddin. Watching Talat Hussain on television after such a long time has been a pleasure. He was absolutely brilliant in every single scene. One minute he was giving Salahuddin advice with utmost certainty and the next minute he was wishing he would die and he was equally convincing in both the scenes. The scene in which Mannu hugs her phupo and apologizes was very moving as well mainly because of Maya Ali’s acting.

This episode was strictly okay but I am looking forward to Mannu and Salahuddin’s meeting in the next episode. Honestly speaking, I am not expecting fireworks but I am waiting to see if Ifty’s father’s advice had some effect on Salahuddin. I am also hoping that this recent incident will change Ifty’s thinking and attitude towards his father.

Tere Mere Beech – Episode 18!

Ohkay so, this episode of Tere Mere Beech offered nothing new to talk about. The only good bits were the ones where Hareem & Shela shared a conversation because this is exactly what Hareem wants, but other than that, this episode was quite boring & the coverage that the other characters got seemed quite forced too.

Hareem has started relying on Shela a lot more than she realizes. Even when she tries to hold back, Shela finds a way to crack into Hareem’s system to get the information she wants to in order to know how she can help Hareem. Hareem has pretty much told every single detail of her life to Shela which also includes the details of how Fahad betrayed her. It is good that Shela doesn’t try to lecture Hareem as to what she should & what she shouldn’t do, but in stead, she brings in her own life into perspective & starts talking about her own experiences because that way she knows she’ll be able to strike a chord & Hareem won’t get a chance to ignore whatever Shela says thinking that she is just preaching her without going through what Hareem has been through.

Looks like Shela’s mother didn’t marry her off at the right age because she was the bread-winner of the family & that is why she has this regret related to her mother but other than that, she is thankful for everything that her mother has done for her which also includes how she raised her & instilled the confidence in her because that’s what makes Shela such a positive person. Even though the life situations of Hareem & Shela are quite different but there is some sort of similarity due to which Shela is capable of understanding Hareem. It was good to see that Hareem felt Shela wasn’t only listening to her problems but she was understanding her too & also, she was assuring her that all that Hareem has been feeling for her mother wasn’t entirely wrong & doesn’t make her a bad person because it is true that Nighat made some bad choices & she didn’t parent Hareem the way she should have. I think after all the rona dhona, the entry of Shela’s character in Hareem’s life is the highlight of this entire drama for me!

Oh well, Ms. Goody-two-shoes Nadia & Sadia were ‘missing’ Hareem while packing her things up. Sadia all of a sudden remembered the lipstick Hareem used to wear & Nadia realized that Hareem was her sister. It is so ridiculous that when Hareem was around them, they followed the footsteps of their mother & hated Hareem to the core & now when she is gone & they both are sure that she ain’t coming back, it is easier for them to remember her in good words but yes, I fail to acknowledge that their feelings are genuine & they actually feel that Hareem was innocent. It was good that both Nadia & Sadia got to know that Hareem held onto Nighat’s scarves because it made them realize that Hareem longed for her mother & needed her just as much as they did & about Zahida, the less said the better because I couldn’t seriously bring myself to watch her scenes, so not sure what she was talking rather caterwauling about!!!

I find Asad’s character completely useless & also the way he shows interest in the personal matters of Nadia’s family makes him look life-less too & I really think he needs a life or probably a group of boys to hang out with because at such a young age seeing him demanding pakoras & chai was quite awkward, uncle-like & gruesomely mature, which does not suit his age. I am sure he is going to get more interested in Sadia & after a subtle objection, Nadia will be happy to see them both getting married!!!

Fahad has come back & what’s with the attitude? He left on his own terms & he failed to listen to what Sadia & Zahida were telling him about Hareem. Not sure what else’s left for Fahad to offer but I hope Hareem throws him out of her life because she is better off without him. I hope this is something that Shela makes it happen because this is exactly what should happen. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Tere Mere Beech.

Cheers,

Oh Dear, Not That Again!

0

Having written a few reviews the past couple of weeks, I had to sit through the entire episodes instead of fast forwarding some scenes as I usually do. As a result of paying closer attention, I was drawn to quite a few hilarious similarities in most dramas and thought I would share those. I wanted to be sure that I am not repeating anything if an article about this has been covered on this website before so I went through the archive and came across a couple but after reading them and the comments, I have tried to ensure there is no duplication. However, if by any chance there is an overlap by any chance – it was not intentional.

Right. Now that the disclaimer is done, I have tried to put everything into three broad categories.

The characters:

Jack of all trades:

The actor that made me think of this phrase in the first place has been a doctor in Tere Baghair, a senior executive in Sehra Mein Safar and what not. Another actor often seen in his trouser braces again pops up in every other drama mostly as a doctor. I tried checking the credits of the dramas they appeared in and then googled random names off the credits but as much as we see them in every other drama – I could not trace them on the internet and then gave up as it was too much effort. Then again, they say a picture speaks a thousand words – these should be able to jolt your memory!

PIC1

Inspector Gadget – rather his grumpy assistant Chief Quimby:

I remember watching Inspector Gadget as a kid and I know there are several popular mystery/detective characters that have evolved after that but I do not follow any of those shows. This award in my opinion definitely goes to Huma Nawab. Ever since she has returned to TV all I see her do is play negative, suspicious characters with her head tossing side to side and eyes narrowed. She was the suspicious mother in Dua and then in Judai she is the ever interfering wife/friend.

PIC2

The hyena:
Much as I think her acting has improved considerably and I actually enjoy watching her in Tere Mere Beech but once Sanam Choudhary is agitated or angry or upset or anything (!!) she shrieks and does she shriek! I am not being mean for if she has a high pitched voice that is God given but to push that voice to the very limit feels like scratching nails on a chalkboard!

PIC3

The tutors!
And in abundance! Hamza Ali Abbasi in Man Mayal, Ali Kazmi in Sehra Mein Safar, Noor Hasan in Kisay Chahoon and Affan Waheed in Bhai. Don’t shoot me, I do not find all of them attractive personally but they are presented as young good looking tutors and all I can remember is that we did not have such tutors rather the old Sri Lankan tutors during our O and A Levels! Hmm.

Howling (wailing) wolf

Aha! Who else could this be but Shaheen Khan. Can’t put a face to the name? Even if I did not post the photos below you would still guess who she is when I say she was the wailing mother in Chup Raho, wailing khala in Ishq Parast, wailing phuppo in Tere Mere Beech, wailing mother in Kisay Chahoon – in short, the wailing wolf. I swear, the moment this woman opens her mouth I hit the forward or mute button because I know it will only be a whole lot of howling, rona dhona, hands wringing, the works.

PIC4

The bemaar weepers
Rubina Ashraf takes the cake in this one with Sonia Hussain a close second. In dramas such as Kitna Satatay Ho and now Gul e Rana, this woman seems to be struggling to breathe seriously! The more she gasps, the more devoted a mother she is. I think! Sonia Hussain although handles the flippant natural roles so effortlessly, the second she starts to cry seems to be asthmatic too.
PIC 5

The mirchisssss

I could not think of what else to call them! Sara khan seems to have risen as an actress but the way she talks has this ring of ‘ssssssssssss’ to it as does Ushna Shah when she does her crying scenes – as if constantly mirchein lagi huee hon!

This brings me to the second category – the ghissi pitti lines. I know there are plenty more but I think some have been mentioned before and some I can not think of right now so here’s my list:

Aap mazaak tau nahin kar rahay? I am still waiting for the ‘joker’ in question to actually reply with a haan, mein mazaak kar raha tha hahahaha!’ Ugh!

Meri baat tau sunainThis line really puts me off. Ab jitna time and energy and even words the person wastes in saying that, utni dair mein asal baat bol bhi do!! This happens in every other drama but the one I have never forgotten was that wretched Nadia Bhabhi (Mawra Hocane) in Ek Tamana La hasil si. Oh man, the amount of thappars and chappals she got and all she could say (a thousand times at least) was meri baat tau sunain!!!!

Aray aap agaye?! Nahin, I am hanging like a bat outside your front door. That line is quite addictive I must admit – I have almost caught myself saying something similar when the person is actually standing right before your eyes, in the flesh!

PIC 6
Hamaray moo par kalak mal di – I had grown quite used to that line and did not realise how used to it I was until I watched the video of this new song of Sia ft. Sean Paul ‘Cheap Thrills’. The pair dancing literally have kalak-ed faces and I burst out laughing because the first thought that came to my mind when I saw them was this line. Do look it up if you have not seen the video already!

Mujhay aap kay kaam apnay haathon se karna acha lagta hai – or was it khushi milti hai. That one just sweeps right over my head. Okay I get the cooking bit but washing the shirts, ironing?! And I am referring to those drama households where there are servants but the dutiful, loving wife does everything apnay haathon se. I happily chuck my husband’s office shirts into the washing machine without checking for any marks and have come quite close to one of those old Brite ad scenes where the guy throws his ‘pagri’ down in anger because it had a mark on it and the woman trembles (haha – just kidding but why offer to wash shirts yourself?!).

Slice lain gay? I will not cover any breakfast lines or scenes as I noticed they were mentioned in another article I read but I do not understand this ‘slice’ business. I spent 15 years in Pakistan growing up and we said bread or toast or ‘dabbal roti’ but slice? And it is not used as ‘would you like a slice of bread’ in fact, it is used as ‘slice par makhan‘ or ‘slice aur anda day do’. Hain?

Khushkabhri: This one is a prize! I agree babies are a huge khushkhabri – I have two of my own alhamdolillah. But it is funny how instead of saying so and so is pregnant or you are about to become a father/grandparent – it is always ‘khushkabhri hai ‘ and everyone smiles in delight as if there could be no other possible meaning to that word. Makes me laugh thinking suppose a guy (single) in a drama is promoted at work and announces to his mother Maa, khush kabhri hai and maa ka heart fail ho jaye keh hain, shaadi kab kee mujhay bataya tak nahin?!

Haye mein barbaad ho gayee – instantly images of bombs and destruction flash in my mind but nah,all I actually see is a hatti katti aurat. Hmm.

I could go on but I will stop there at the crazy lines. The characters and lines were what made me laugh but there are also some common scenes:

The ever looming heart attack: Man! Beti nay shaadi se inkaar kar diya – heart attack! So and so ka accident ho gaya – mum goes and has a heart attack where as the one who was in an accident survives but upon hearing that mum had a heart attack suffers one himself – wait, who survived in the end? Salan mein namak daalna bhool gayi –heart attack! It seems as if the slightest thing will definitely bring on a heart attack. But heck, Firdous Jamal in Mera Yaar Miladay shakes and wobbles and keels over every other second and I feel before he will have a heart attack he will give me one!

Eavesdropping:  if the characters in our plays ever closed doors when having a conversation or talking on the phone – the story would never move forward. Plotting, planning, declaration of love – you would get to know all only if you hang outside half opened doors.

Helping hubby with the blazer: I almost deleted this one thinking what if I offend anyone who actually does this in reality, because it sure as hell happens in almost every household in the dramas when hubby is off to work. Someone please explain this to me – sign of love or avoiding getting creases or stuck struggling to get the the other arm in when one already is?!

I could go on but I had to scratch off a few off my list when I read them already mentioned in a couple of other articles. In the end I know I should say the writers and directors really should do something about changing these clichéd lines/characters/scenes but heck, what’s a Pakistani drama without all this eh? Are there any characters or dialogues that drive you up the wall? Would love to hear them and your thoughts on this article!

Aabro – Episode 15!

Ohkay so, they continued showing us the hard times that both Ali & Aabro are going through & as sad as it sounds, there was no change in their condition & in the attitude of Ali’s family whatsoever. I think they have shown us the extremes now where Ali & Aabro are regretful & apologetic, so they really need to amp up their speed & head towards the ending of the drama because it seriously is getting quite depressing & emotional & oh yes, I did cry once again!!!

Ali & Aabro went through a lot of pain to arrange some money to contribute in Tayyaba’s wedding but as always, Zubaida spun the entire thing against him & used it as an opportunity to insult Ali even more saying that the amount that he was giving was quite small. Zubaida needs to stop comparing Ali with the other guys of the family because they all are doing some decent jobs whereas Ali is doing an odd job right now, so she can’t really expect him to give as much money as others have given to her.

I found a slight loophole in the timeline because they showed that Samra & Tahir came to see Ahmed for the first time & they also showed Ahmed as a newborn whereas in the previous episode they showed a time lapse of 4 months after Ahmed’s birth where Abid came in to share the news of his promotion & the company’s car. This scene should’ve been included in the previous episode because to see Ahmed reducing from infant to newborn & then again becoming an infant in the very next scene was confusing & also quite faulty. Also, Ali spoke about how Tahir came from America because of which he gave a good amount of money for Tayyaba’s wedding & in the later part of the episode, Abid goes like Tahir told him that he’ll be applying for Canada so Samra will settle there!?!?!

I think the way Fauzia is being treated in this family, she should be the last person making faces at Ali & Aabro’s mention. She has already seen that she has been ‘blessed’ after getting to Abid & how ‘unlucky’ Aabro has become so she shouldn’t show the signs of distress at all because if we crack the equation of their lives, Fauzia should in stead be thankful to Aabro for snatching Ali away from her because of which she got a chance to get married to Abid. It was good that at least Abid tried to knock some sense into her that she needs to ease up a bit & help Ali & Aabro as much as they both could because they needed their help right now.

It was sad that Sakina was suffering so badly & she stopped Aabro from coming over. She knows that Aabro is going through a lot herself so she didn’t really think it was a good idea to bother her much. Throughout the episode, I really liked the way both Ali & Aabro reflected upon their past mistakes & their current condition. They have blamed themselves enough, they have regretted enough but it is good that at least Ali can also see that his parents are now being unreasonable. His parents got a full chance to display their anger & disappointment but Ali & even his wife Aabro don’t have even that much of a leeway.

Aabro realized that things are getting worse because with Afsheen growing up, she’ll be having more demands, that’s when Aabro asks Ali if she could work as Fauzia’s personal maid as she was pregnant so she’ll be needing an extra help from now on. It was good to see that when Aabro requested Fauzia, something struck a chord & she hated seeing Aabro in that position. Even when Shahida found out about it, she didn’t seem too pleased too because that’s when both Shahida & Fauzia realized how grave their situation was & how hard they both were struggling to make the ends meet. The preview however suggested that things will now get even tougher for Aabro because the entire family will now order Aabro & will boss around her, also, they’ll now expect Aabro to walk an extra mile every single time because they’ll be paying her. It looks like things are not going to change at all & I really wish they would because we’ve seen it all & I really think the drama should end in next 3 – 4 episodes. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Cheers,

Singer Nouman Javaid Tries To Commit Suicide

0

Singer Nouman Javaid was in the news few weeks back not because of a sad but happy news about his nikkah with the famous singer Fariha Pervaiz. The couple did not confirm the news but it was everywhere, a rumor which was most probably true.

6

Things took a bad turn for the singer for unknown reasons. On March 24 he posted on his facebook page,

“There is someone who is out to get me … kindly if any of you receive any email or any message regarding anything please disregard it …”

2

No one knew the reason behind this status but it pointed to the fact that the singer was having problems with someone. On March 25 he posted a status saying,

“This damn world is a dirty shameful place people cant see anyone happy they try their best to ruin your life … i always thought does that really happens … just happened with me … be careful of the devil he is in people …”

3

Nouman Javaid usually replied to every comment but after posting this comment when people asked him if he was okay he did not reply to anyone.

On March 26 Nouman Javaid posted the status,

#‎MeinChala

And right now he is in ICU fighting for his life. According to sources the singer tried to commit suicide but no one is sure why he had to take such a step.

7

Famous actor Imran Abbas also posted a status in which he informed people that Nouman Javaid was in critical condition and asked people to pray for him.

1

One of Nouman’s friends also posted some pictures of him from the hospital saying that he is in coma.

Dil Lagi – Episode 3

“Mohabbat mei agr insan ki mut na mari jaye tu samjho use mohabbat nahi weham huva hai.” This episode was less filmy but it definitely had tons of substance. For the first time the characters stood out more than the actors and some of the conversations and dialogues were so impactful that they stayed with me even after I was done watching this episode. It has been a long time since I heard such powerful dialogues in a drama therefore for me this episode of Dil Lagi was a complete winner. Mohid is not going to give up on Anmol, he will do everything it takes to convince her that no one will ever love her as much as he does. He wants Anmol to fall in love with him even if it requires some effort. Anmol believes “mohabbat hone aur mohabbat krne mei buhat fark hai” but Mohid sees things differently.

The fact that Anmol is a very strong individual was reinforced yet again in tonight’s episode in a much more realistic manner. Anmol believes in moving on, finding solutions to problems and not dwelling in the past therefore we did not see Anmol giving what had happened a second thought. She also told her mother to consider it a “maslihat” and move on but at the same time she tried to fix the problem by meeting Mohid. However, Mohid’s meeting with Dastagir after he met Anmol went to show that nothing she said had an effect on him. He was under the effect of meeting the woman of his dreams in person and did not believe a word of what she said until Dastagir gave him the news that she was engaged to someone else. Anas is clearly darpok and nazuk therefore his reaction to his encounter with Mohid was very believable. The logic Anmol gave to Mishaal for getting her engaged to someone like him was rather ironic since Anmol herself is such a brave person but at the same time it went to show how practical Anmol was. She is brave but she also knows that how vulnerable they are because of the fact that there is no man who can support them.

There were many conversations in this episode which were meaningful and very well written. I loved the conversation between Mohid and his mother in which she asks him questions about Anmol. It clearly went to show that Mohid did not fall in love with Anmol’s looks but with her bold personality. Anmol’s dialogue “dur mere liye gali hai aur mujh se gali bardasht nahi hoti”  was totally in line with her character and this is exactly what Mohid loves about her. Deep down Anmol also knows that Mohid is much more than just a ‘barsati mendak’ but she keeps on telling herself that because if she thinks on the same lines as her mother she might be afraid of what this person can do to have her in his life.

The way Mohid’s mother summed up everything she had observed about Anmol’s family was hilarious. I absolutely love Mohid’s mother’s character and the way Saba Hameed has brought this character to life on screen is commendable. I am watching her play a very different role in drama serial Guzarish and she is equally convincing in that drama as well.

“aao mujhe daryaft karo acha laga tu fatah kur lena” … I found the references of this kind in tonight’s episode quite interesting. These witty dialogues made otherwise cheesy scenes more meaningful and added some depth to Mohid’s character as well. I have been complaining about the leads till now but I must say that in tonight’s episode there was definitely more of Anmol and Mohid – two equally interesting characters – than just Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed. Imran Ashraf was once again brilliant as Dastagir, he nailed every single scene! I can’t believe that this is the same actor who is playing Asher in Gul-e-Rana.

The preview of the next episode suggested that Mohid will send his mother to Anmol’s house once again. I am really looking forward to the next installment and hope that it will be just as enthralling as this one.

Gul-e-Rana – Episode 20

This was yet another disappointing episode of Gul-e-Rana filled with scenes that make you question the sanity of every single person who was involved in this project. Adeel got a chance to meet two of Gul-e-Rana’s ‘ashiqs’ in this episode and Rana was more than willing to accept Adeel’s girlfriends with a smile! This drama has taken the case of a dysfunctional marriage to another level! After Omer and Asher “Bhai” reassured Adeel that his wife was not characterless somehow he changed altogether. Honestly speaking I had a very difficult time understanding the change in Adeel’s behaviour! Asher bhai played the “I am dying” card once again. The writer obviously expected the viewers to feel for Asher bhai that is why his illness and his feelings for Rana are being given so much attention but Asher’s retarded smile and his feelings for Rana both are terribly annoying to say the least. The writer wants us to feel for him but here I am wishing he is finally dead!! And if he is not than this is the third time that we are being led to believe that he is dead. First two times Rana had those nightmares which were shown as if they were real happenings in the previews and this time around if Asher Bhai survives I will personally go and kill him!!

What Omer said to Adeel was wrong but somehow Rana failed to see that! The smile on Rana’s face when she sees Asher Bhai was also another scene that makes you question Rana’s actions too. Although we are supposed to believe that both these men are nothing more than brothers to Rana yet the way she interacts with them suggests something entirely different. Just like all the previous episodes many of the characters were completely missing from this episode. I do understand that the story is about Adeel, Rana and everyone else who is either interested in Adeel or Rana but even then the way Adeel’s parents and Rana’s family completely disappears shows how poorly directed this drama is.

gr1

Yes I agree!! Servants can actually do everything which Rana (not any wife) is doing for Adeel which is why whatever Rana is doing for Adeel is quite unnecessary.  Rana is washing his clothes, cooking for him and looking after him but she isn’t doing the one thing which servants cannot do – show some love and concern! Of course Adeel does not deserve love and concern, he does not even deserve sympathy and that is exactly why this whole development of leaving Rana in Murree to look after Adeel was just plain Absurd! Adeel’s father has conveniently gone back and disappeared from the drama. It would have been good to watch him call Adeel or pay him a visit.

The only scene in this episode which made some sense was the one in which Adeel thinks about the past while his servant sits next to him, praying for him. If the viewers were shown few more such scenes in which Adeel thought about the way he treated Rana and less of Omer and Asher than the change in Adeel’s personality would have been easy to connect to.

gr2

Overall, this episode was a complete waste of time. The preview of the next episode showed a complete change in Adeel’s personality and it also suggested that Adeel might try to harm himself. Honestly speaking, I am so sick and tired of all these characters that I couldn’t care less whether they live or die!! There was absolutely no mention of Asher Bhai in the preview of the next episode therefore once again we are left wondering whether he will finally die or not – things we are forced to look forward to!!

Qandeel Baloch Is Inspired By Controvesial Indian Celebrities

0

Qandeel Baloch caught the attention of people and media through videos which she posted on her own Social Media pages which were usually very bold and vulgar. She likes to attract attention by doing things which do not confirm with social norms. When the T20 match was about to start she said that if Pakistan won the match against India she will do a strip dance for entire Pakistan. Pakistan did not win the match but after such claims people were so enraged that they complained against her facebook page because of which her page was deactivated.

Qandeel Baloch was invited on Mubashar Lucman’s show “Khara Such” in which she talked about everything from her relationship with her parents to who were the people who inspired her. According to her she is inspired from Indian actresses who are controversial and very bold. She took names of Indian celebrities like Rakhi Sawant, Sunny Leone and Poonam Panday. All these celebrities are also popular for the same reason for which Qandeel Baloch is popular.

Qandeel Baloch also defended the trailer of the striptease she promised to the Pakistanis which she released before the match. She said that everyone is doing it, people watch such things so why is it so wrong if I did it too?

Ushna Shah Greatly Impressed By Aamir Liaquat

Ushna Shah was recently invited to Aamir Liaquat’s talk show which gave her the opportunity to meet him for the first time. After doing a show with Aamir Liaquat and talking to him Ushna Shah felt ashamed of her pre-conceived notions about Aamir Liaquat. She posted what she thought about him before and how she felt about him after meeting him on her facebook page. Aamir Liaquat has been inviting many showbiz celebrities on his show and all of them are having a good experience with him. He is also known more as an entertainer now than a religious expert.
