Zidd – Episode 18!

0

This drama has lost purpose long time ago & I am amazed rather amused to see it still being aired that too on the weekends. This drama & story is all about a bunch of confused souls who have no idea what they want out of life.

After Rukhi & Qasim’s death, Saman has started to be a bit more courteous & considerate towards Zainab because she doesn’t want to lose another friend but then it’s hard to digest this kind of courtesy from an emotionally absent Saman; a girl who couldn’t forgive her own family & cut ties with them just because they chose to hide one tiny little detail from her. It’s absolutely ridiculous to see her depending on such people who mean nothing to her & ignoring those who play an important part in her life & are entitled to her respect.

The way Saman gets uncomfortable around Zainab really makes this seem a lot more confusing than it actually is. Why is she still tolerating her? Zainab can stay at her own place & Saman can keep on helping her financially like aggar itna hi bhoot sawar hai khidmat-e-khalq ka, so why not! She really doesn’t have to babysit her that too within the vicinity of her own home especially now when she has seen that Zainab is only making things awkward & difficult for her!

I think the writer has over done Omar’s niceness in this drama. It’s like anyone can run him over & he won’t utter a single word. Why is it so hard for him to take control over the situation like a man & tell both these weirdos off by throwing Zainab out of his home & by knocking some sense into Saman?

Saman & her goongapan irritate me like anything. She might not have been such a bad character if there were a few words thrown in to back her expressions. What she feels & what’s going through her mind is never clear therefore she absolutely looks like a brainless zombie who has no purpose in life & oh since when did Qasim & Saman share such a good connection where he advised her about a few things in life? All I knew was that Qasim couldn’t tolerate Saman’s presence & they both shared an awkward silence whenever they both came across each other so it was really weird to see a flashback of their conversation that too where the focal point of discussion was Zainab.

I just hate the way Saman thinks she’s better off & is more mature than Zainab because the way she has tackled her life is absolutely pathetic. She has lost control over everything & she failed to do anything that she ever planned to, so she should accept that she is a failure in life & should just cut down her ego a couple of notches.

The preview suggested that Omar will finally give up on this marriage that too because he likes to be a sacrificial lamb & now once again he is thinking through Saman’s perspective that she has never been happy with him so he will allow her to go & just because Saman’s ego is bigger than her peanut sized brain, she won’t admit that she wants to give this marriage a chance. It’s absolutely ridiculous to show that she can blabber about not wanting to stay with a nice man like Omar but then she chooses to stay at his place? So, where did that Saman go who wanted to live life on her conditions?

I just want this drama to end ASAP because no character has been written properly & the writer has actually failed big time. The writer actually had a different idea about showing how Zidd ruins everything in one’s life but she lost the plot & couldn’t write a better script later on. This unnecessary triangle is only enforced to drag a drama & that is why it actually makes no sense is nauseating. This drama has nothing to offer & I hope they edit the remaining episodes out & finish it off quickly. Share your thoughts!

Zidd – Episode 17!

Ohkay so, I’ll be honest with you guys, I found this episode a tad bit interesting & better in comparison to a lot of previous episodes but Oh My God!!! Psycho Qasim didn’t get Rukhi killed but he killed her himself. Ohkay, we get that, he didn’t mean to but the point is he was the reason behind her death, so that makes him the biggest culprit ever. Even during the last moments of his life he was facing a dearth of dialogues which is why his loop was pretty much set on ‘saray kapray khoon se bhar gaye’ & while listening to him say that time & again, I couldn’t stop wishing ke actually abb inke kapray inke appne khoon se bhar janay chahiyen & voila, my wish was materialized & kaboom!!! Yupppieeee!!!

This episode can be categorized as #flashbackfriday because it had a million flashbacks of Rukhi because this episode was more like a tribute to her character & pretty much ended her journey because now we won’t be hearing about her again but honestly, those flashbacks could’ve been cut short because the detailed seen-already scenes kind of helped in losing the purpose behind & sorry to say but I didn’t feel a thing for her character because what happened to Rukhi was an accident. Yes, if Qasim had actually killed her intentionally, then it would’ve been a different story altogether but sadly, her death was accidental; therefore, in my opinion it was sad but didn’t stir any sad emotions, because even though they built up the curiosity pretty well with her being missing, the end result wasn’t that heart-wrenching. Sorry!

I am so glad that Omar has pretty much grown out of Zainab because of which he just can’t stand her & is drawing the lines right away. I like his character for the fact that even though he knows that Saman has given him a hard time, he is still persistent on saving his marriage & is outdoing all the shameless attempts of Zainab for reconciling with him. I really feel she is the wrong person in that house because she is now trying to break them but all thanks to Omar’s maturity, she won’t succeed because he wants things to work out between him & Saman & thankfully, Zainab is not his headache anymore.

I kind of liked this whole Rukhi’s death scenario in a way that it forced everyone to do some thinking. Omar grew more considerate towards Saman as he wants to make her happy & now he won’t let her run things singlehandedly because he knows she has made one wrong decision after another, so that way he is being more considerate towards her & Saman has started to depend on him for moral support. Yes, every now & then she kind of restricted him from growing closer to her but still, it seems she is ready to be around him & she isn’t as uncomfortable as she used to be.

I believe they shouldn’t have shown David as someone who didn’t care much about Rukhi & moved on pretty quickly because his character was nice so there was no reason to spoil that & in my opinion, it wasn’t a right thing to do. He said he has been seeing Linda for a few weeks whereas Rukhi just died, so it’s like he was cheating on her. They could’ve just left his track like that; shattered, heartbroken & depressed & should’ve left the rest on the viewers to be sympathetic towards him but to show him in love with some girl while he was married to Rukhi & while he was planning a wedding with her, was actually unrequired.

I really hope after Rukhi’s chapter, someone takes care of Zainab for good as well because she can only destroy things in her surroundings & I hope that along with Omar, Saman starts understanding that too. I guess she got a lot of time that she needed to sort things in her mind & now it’s a high time to come to terms with her life & just go with flow because that will eventually bring happiness to her that she has been searching for – at all the wrong places! Zidd – Episode 16!

WOW! Lagta hai saray pagal aik jagah jama ho gaye hain. This drama has crossed all the limits of insanity & so have the characters because anything that they say doesn’t make sense anymore.

So Rukhi goes missing the night before her desi wedding but I picked something that Qasim said. While confronting David, Qasim clearly said ‘isi ne Rukhi ko ‘mara’ hai’ & by that time they were only speculating what might’ve happened to Rukhi & where she was, so why exactly did Qasim use that specific word? It shows he obviously knows something but is just brushing it off his shoulder by blaming David openly. The way he seemed lost in his thoughts actually showed that he was kind of guilty & was trying to gather himself.

The only thing that made sense & I liked in this whole episode was David’s decision of filing a case against Qasim because he can already suss something fishy about this dirty fish. I support David’s decision because Qasim needs to learn a few lessons in life. He’s obviously a loner so I am sure he wouldn’t have a tough time spending a lot of time with himself in a prison cell.

Apparently, Zainab & Saman are at a war with each other. Saman can clearly see that Zainab’s main intention is to wreck her home but just because Zainab has challenged her & has hurt her ego by saying that Saman is competing with Zainab to win Omar over, Saman is now hell bent on keeping Zainab at her place to prove her wrong? I mean what sort of a twisted logic is that? Chalo, Rukhi ki zidd to usay le doobi, abb Saman ki baari hai!

I don’t understand when Zainab has told Saman loud & clear that she is jealous of her & her relationship with Omar, Saman has blinded herself still just because she’s on a self-created ‘Zainab Rectification Mission’. To be honest, I feel the writer actually tried to do something uber different by writing some unique characters but together they have created a havoc & it’s a sheer disaster. I really thought Saman was a clear-minded person & did what her mind told her but why was she shown stammering every single time at the mention of Omar lately? Is she already in love with him & if yes, then what’s stopping her? Yes, she is ziddi we get that but then there should be some base to support that zidd? For the first time ever we got to see Saman who wasn’t herself, who wasn’t clear in her thoughts & seemed scattered brained. She says Omar doesn’t mean anything to her but then she depends on him emotionally so why is she in a state of limbo? I think she has wasted a lot of time as it is & it’s really a high time to pack this drama up by giving Omar & Saman their happy ending which wouldn’t look like a happy ending given the torture they have put us up with.

Can someone tell what does Omar do to earn such a lavish living in the US, I ask that because all I have seen him doing is killing some time either on the streets or on a sofa in Qasim’s home. I mean does this guy really have nothing else to do? I just don’t understand why has he allowed Zainab to stay at his home? He can clearly see where she is heading & supposedly he can’t stand the sight of her, plus Omar is the one who tamed a jungli Saman & put her on a house-arrest so why is he finding it so hard to get rid of Zainab? All he has to do is grab her hand & throw her out of his house but seems like all the characters in this drama only know how to create problems for themselves because when it comes to solution they either love to blind themselves or procrastinate. Zidd – Episode 15!

My goodness!!! Just when I was laughing at what I saw, the preview of the next episode left me disgusted & depressed which I will discuss later but before saying anything, I must confess, I was in no mood to spoil my weekend by watching this play but just because I got a request for the review by one of my dearest readers, I decided to give it a shot.

To be honest, I am glad that Omar has taken an initiative to straighten the terhi haddi he has gotten in the form of his wife Saman but what he said left me stunned because I really don’t think the story has progressed in such a way to show that a year has passed ever since Saman came to USA because it gives rise to so many other questions. Has Saman parents never ever called her once in this whole year? Were they so sick of her that ever since she has left Pakistan, they were so relieved by her departure that they didn’t even bother calling her or the producer cleared their payments, bid them a good bye & told them to never return again as they were not needed for not even a single phone call to Saman? Rukhi has gotten married to David 2 months ago & before that Qasim kept on blaming Saman for how Rukhi is retaliating but it was Rukhi who mentioned that she has met Saman a few weeks ago? Is it for real that Omar kept on roaming around for a good 1 year, all meaningless & purposeless? & please don’t tell me that Saman spent almost a year with Zainab in her zoo? It just doesn’t make sense at all. Anyways, it was their first anniversary & Omar decided to surprise her but all this while I kept on wondering as to why Saman was so goongi but then it hit me that the writer must’ve forgotten to write a few reasonable dialogues for her character. I think the writer was so busy penning down the twisted psychology of this character named Saman that she forgot to work on the dialogues that were required to let us know what she was going through & what thoughts were crossing her mind & then I got my answer as to why I haven’t been able to understand what she wants out of life because she just doesn’t say a word. She is emotionally goongi & I guess we’d have to deal with the half-baked half-goonga character of Saman.

I mean Qasim ne Rukhi ki itni sookhi shadi karni thi to ye drama na kartay? I really thought he was planning a big fat desi wedding for Rukhi but seeing 3 girls holding a dupatta & 4 girls swirling in their own orbits as if they had no worries of life wasn’t the best way of getting her married to David after all. I think Qasim needs a life because even he seems bored due to the repetition of his dialogues. He has a few bones stuck in his throat & those bones are due to David’s gora-pan & Saman’s had-dharmi-pan. To be honest whenever this guy speaks, I feel like throwing the TV out of the window. Qasim we all know you only have 3 sentences to speak every single time but you’re getting unnecessary coverage as it is so please stop with the dragged dialogue delivery because trust me it is pretty hard to deal with you every Sunday!

Isn’t it funny that now when Saman & Omar should be planning their own kids, they got a fully grown up kid to babysit & take care of. I still haven’t recovered from the shocks of seeing 2-wives-under-1 roof scenario in Dusri Biwi that I now had to deal with more or less the same situation in Zidd too. Chalo in Dusri Biwi, Biwi # 1 hates Biwi # 2 but here Biwi # 2 is smitten by Biwi # 1 & she would do everything & absolutely anything for her. I really don’t get Saman at all, she will fight with Omar for Zainab but she will be equally irritated & annoyed at Zainab too? Just like Omar said, was she really happy living away from him trying to find her own happiness & now when her husband is ready to give her another chance, why is she spoiling it with her own hands that too because of Zainab? I mean it’s unreal how much Saman cares about Zainab because to be honest, a junky druggy drunkard is not worth it & I really have no idea where the writer is going to go with this les miserables trio. To be honest, I have started to doubt whether Saman has some brains or not because her fixation & obsession with Zainab is beyond my understanding & oh I really got a good idea; Zainab needs a place to stay & Qasim needs a life so I guess Zainab should get married to Qasim & they both can happily annoy each other for the rest of their lives.

Speaking about the preview of next episode, I remember a couple of weeks’ back a reader pointed out that may be Qasim was just putting up a show & he will get Rukhi killed, more like an honor killing & I must say that prediction was spot on because this is exactly what I feel might happen too because Qasim has pretty much lost his marbles & he can go to any extent to save his sorry being. To be honest, I really have heard good things about the dramas written by Bee Gul but I never got a chance to watch them so I gave Zidd a go thinking it must be good too but to be honest it has become so dull & depressing that it’s not even funny. The drama has no message, no entertainment quotient, no base, no story, no purpose, no meaning, nothing at all. The only perk I feel must’ve forced the actors to sign this drama was a free ka trip to USA to shoot this wreckage because I believe no one in their right state of mind would ever choose to work in such a drama. Anyways, share your thoughts & let me know if you’ve figured out the purpose of writer’s Zidd!?!?!

Zidd – Episode 14!

I just hope with this latest development in the story, they are trying to wrap up the drama because we’re no more in a mood to see more such baseless adventures of Saman. To be honest, the way Saman is stuck on Zainab really makes me question her mental capability because no sane person in the world would like to waste even a second with such a lunatic. Zainab has lost direction & purpose of her life & Saman isn’t helping her at all. She is just going with the flow & if she really thinks she’d be able to help Zainab by being with her then she’s sadly or rather idiotically mistaken.

It just took a week’s time for Zainab to snap out of grief of losing Micheal & Saman still seemed ohkay with it. I just don’t understand what’s going through her mind. Like yeah, they’ve given enough coverage to her zidd & oh another word that got introduced for her zidd in this episode was hadh dharmi, so yep, when they’ve shown us plenty of times what Saman is doing is wrong, they have completely forgotten to show the reasons as to ‘why’ she is doing all this. Yes, we all know she is stubborn but then what’s running through her tiny brain because every single time I see her dwelled into deepest thoughts, so care to share what thoughts are crossing your mind missy because the silence is boggling our minds & boiling our blood.

Can someone please tell why Qasim is so fixated with Saman? Well for starters, he’s completely gone mad because at one hand he is planning a big fat desi wedding for Rukhi & David & on the other hand he still hasn’t come to terms with the fact that her daughter’s already married to a gora. Why would a father do all that for his daughter when he isn’t happy with her choice & ohkay, if he is already doing it then why is he unhappy? Apart from Rukhi & David, the only person that matters or affects him the most is Saman but what for? I just don’t understand his incessant rants & rambles against her. Qasim really needs to get a life ASAP because if he continues to be like this, I wonder where he’ll end up.

I actually liked the way Omar took charge of the situation because as much as I might’ve disliked his character, I think that’s the only logical thing which was required to be done right now. He needs to break Saman’s stubbornness to bring her to the right path. To be honest, I was ready to take Saman as a headstrong, stubborn girl but I really didn’t think she would become so stupid that she’d hardly make sense when she’d speak. She says Omar never loved her, so can someone tell her that when she never really gave him a chance, how could he fall in love with her? She never really gave this marriage a chance to develop so the love word right now is out of question. For the sake of our sanity, I hope they finish this drama off ASAP where Saman understands Omar & they live happily ever after because we’ve been through a senseless & baseless ride already & I guess we’re done with it. Zidd – Episode 12 & 13!

OMG! This drama is so annoying that it’s not even funny. All the characters are either half or fully mad because what they say & what they do doesn’t really make any sense anymore. No wonder why this animal filled Zid-Zoo was shifted to a 9PM slot on Sundays because that’s the exact time when people are struggling to fall asleep to begin their week with a fresh mind & this drama is a perfect yawn provoker so I think HUM TV is actually doing a favour to its viewers here by helping them going to bed with much ease, so we should thank them for it.

Everyone in this drama certainly needs a life. I just don’t understand why Saman is so much into Zainab? I mean it’s just so odd. Apparently she says she feels a lot for her & has garnered affection for her but then I mean is Zainab so important for Sanam that she is even ready to get beaten up by Zainab’s a half human half chicken of a husband? Like Zainab got married to a junky of the year who himself doesn’t know whether he’s a human being or a chicken or a puppy & Saman seems pretty comfortable in that zoo of an apartment? The way Saman has been acting lately is just so unlike her because she was the one who always used to ignore & run away from each & every person who said something that she didn’t agree with. She left her parents & cut all ties with her family, then she left Omar’s house because she didn’t like the way he imposed himself on her, then she left Qasim’s place because he also rubbed the reality on her face & now she is ready to put up with everything she comes across while staying at Zainab’s place? Also, whatever Saman says to Zainab is just so ridiculous because firstly, no matter how much Sanam hates Micheal, he is Zainab’s husband & did she really think that Zainab would leave her due to Saman’s incessant nagging? As far as I remember whenever Saman was told to talk Rukhi out of marrying David, she always stood by Rukhi’s side because she believed that everyone was entitled to making their own decisions, so similarly why doesn’t she understand that Zainab is entitled to do the exact same thing as well? Why Saman does really have to bother about what Zainab does? To be honest, I was happy & relieved to see that the character of Micheal died a chicken ki maut because it was getting so hard to tolerate him on screen, I mean as if Zainab wasn’t enough to annoy us that her lunatic husband was also introduced!

Honestly speaking, if the writer really thinks that she’ll be able to make us feel for these mentally incapacitated & challenged characters then she’s highly mistaken because people feel sympathy for those who are sane & are suffering from some sort of crisis but here, these people are brain-free to begin with, so it just doesn’t matter what happens to them or what they go through because by the end of the day they all don’t really matter & oh! Who’s the person responsible for sound effects of this drama because may I ask what’s up with that annoying dhuzz dhuzz sound effect at every minute expression of Saman? She’s the one who’s responsible for ruining her life so why are they trying to make it sound like every single time there’s an asmaan that tooto-fies on her head? Sorry she isn’t a bechari & she doesn’t deserve our sympathies so please stop using these dramatic or sad sound effects to enforce something which they all don’t deserve. I just can’t tolerate how they go on a sad song spree after every single conversation or by the end of every scene because hello, this drama should have some comical sound effects because it’s now coming across as a sitcom & not a serious drama & if you don’t believe me then have a look at Zainab who has the nerves to wear a pink clip on her head!?!?! Well, I must commend Nosheen Shah for actually doing this to herself because it takes a lot of guts to look like ‘that’ on screen!

Coll

Accha, I mean if Rukhi loved her father soooooooooo sooooooooooo soooooooooooooooooooooo much then can you please tell why did she get married in the first place? What’s the role of David in her life when she was living such a fulfilling life with her father? Ever since she has gotten married, all she has cared about is what her father says & what he does, so when she was such a daddy’s girl why did she decide to become someone’s life partner? I am so annoyed at the way Qasim’s attitude fluctuates because he’s giving a tough competition to a coin that flips within microseconds. Also, can someone tell me why is he still stuck up on Saman & blames her for ruining Rukhi’s life because if we take a good look at his age, he should be mature enough to gracefully accept that he’s the one who failed in teaching his daughter the difference between a right & a wrong but very conveniently he puts all the blame on Saman whom Rukhi has just met probably a few weeks ago! In this particular episode Qasim actually made me question his brains too because where at one moment he seemed to be enjoying Rukhi’s company, the next he was seen throwing a hissy fit, where at one point he blames Saman for what Rukhi has put him up with, the next moment he tells the same girl; Saman to knock some sense into his daughter, like seriously? I mean, Qasim Uncle appka deemaghi tawazzun theek hai na?

Is it just me or the conversations between Saman & Rukhi really never make any sense? Rukhi seems like such a typical girl who takes her kitaabi louuuu stories so seriously because every dialogue she speaks starts with the word ‘mohabbat’ & ends with the exact same word too? I mean mohabbat se itniiii fixation??? Ohkay if she is in love & she loves being in love then why is she still so incomplete & unhappy even after she has found her one true love? Plus Rukhi poses to be very smart & sharp so when she knows that Saman was abused by Micheal, why didn’t she tell each & everything to Omar because she seems pretty close to him as well? She knows that Zainab’s not a good person & her company isn’t great either, she keeps on throwing some hints in front of Omar about how Saman’s not safe, so why doesn’t she opt for transparency & tell him the truth straight out? What’s she waiting for?

Accha any idea about where Saman’s parents are? I mean when the parents marry away their daughters in abroad, they put in an extra effort to keep a check on how well their daughter’s been doing but there’s not even a single phone call from them? Plus I don’t understand when Saman is earning some bucks, why doesn’t she move to some safer & secure place that’ll provide her the peace of mind that she’s been looking for? She herself chooses to stay in a zoo which is so unlike her & oh when she got beaten up by Micheal, I actually couldn’t stop laughing because the acting & the dialogues; both were hilarious & didn’t stir the emotion of sympathy that the drama-making team was fishing for. Anyways, the preview of the next episode seemed twisted & annoying too. I still don’t understand what the writer here is trying to tell us. Share your thoughts if you’ve deciphered the mystery. ;)

Zidd – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, I don’t know why but even though this episode was good, it didn’t offer much & was just so slow that it tested my patience once again. That has been the case with most of the episodes of this drama; they do try to give you something but may be due to the direction or lack of depth in a script, they really don’t strike a chord like they should.

I just don’t understand one thing, why is it that the women in this drama don’t really know how to be happy? Saman has been in this never-ending pain that she really ticks me off. She wanted independence & she didn’t want to compromise so now when she is getting to live a life on her conditions, what’s making her sad? Then there’s Rukhi, who fought hard with her father for the sake of her happiness; her ‘David’ & now when she has got him, she’s sad. I just don’t understand the point that the writer here is trying to prove? She is eventually going to tell us that both these girls had to give up on their ‘zidd’ in order to find happiness, which actually is a good message but may be the path that the writer has opted for in order to reach to the message is really bizarre because most of the time in fact all the time, all the characters look so clueless & the whole ‘zidd’ issue seems very much forced which gives a message that they could’ve done well without it too but then they couldn’t because that’s what they were focusing on, sounds confusing right? To be honest, this is exactly how this drama & the characters come across; confused & confusing!

I really expected better from Rukhi. I thought she’d be on top of the world after getting married to David but then that just didn’t happen & now seems like Qasim’s phoola hua muh is taking a toll on her & David’s relation. David is trying hard to make her happy & like a good husband, he is doing everything he can to support & encourage her but seems like ever since she has gotten married to David, Rukhi only has one topic to talk about & that is Qasim. The point is, being his daughter she definitely would’ve known that Qasim won’t forgive her so easily, so either she should’ve strengthen herself or she should’ve expected him to react this way. Rukhi actually came across as a very carefree person who knew how to mend things & situations, so why it is that Qasim’s temporary vexation is causing her so much trouble? She knew he didn’t jump with joy when she told him about David, so when she could ignore him & go against his wishes to marry him, she should now just be normal with his attitude as well & that reminds me about how repetitive her scenes, conversations & dialogues were because she hasn’t spoken about anything else at all.

So, Zainab told Saman about what her marriage was like which goes to show that Omar wasn’t at fault & it was Zainab who ruined everything that they both had. The way Zainab described her marriage was enough to know that they both had a very good relation but it was Zainab who didn’t want all that, she hated seeing how stagnant her life had become so in a quest for an adventure, she decided to get divorced but she is still exploiting Omar & he is so shareef that he is allowing that to happen after knowing Zainab in & out. He still financially helps her & doesn’t seem to question her. I kind of understood Omar this time around a bit better because he never got married to ‘mentally stable’ & ‘normal’ women so maybe that’s why he seems so immune & comfortably numb after how Saman has left him.

I just can’t seem to tolerate Saman & her painful expressions. What she wants out of life? No one knows? What she’s trying to achieve? No one knows? What makes her sad? No one knows? What’s the point she is trying to prove? No one knows. Well, the only thing that’s left for Saman is to go back to Omar because now she has learnt pretty much everything about his past & now there will come a time when she will realize that he wasn’t the one who was wrong & she will go back to him. I really didn’t understand her reaction after she learned the truth about who Zainab was married to? She says she doesn’t love Omar so why did she seem so lost after Rukhi’s phone call?

I don’t know why but this episode was a hit & a miss too. Development in the story was fine but the scenes seemed so stagnant & repetitive. The only good thing about this episode was the locations that they chose to shoot the scenes. Another amusing thing about this drama is that all these ladies are only seen roaming around the streets carrying their handbags & I must say, all of them really have a bad choice because all the handbags that they’ve flashed in this drama are hideous. Anyways, share your thoughts about this episode please.

Zidd – Episode 10!

My goodness! I can’t believe that this drama has become such a mind-teaser. I am completely speechless & mind-numbed after watching this episode. What are they trying to show is what I am not understanding? The purpose of this drama, anyone? What’s there to get entertained with, in this drama? If you guys can find an answer to that, I’d appreciate if you share it with me as well.

As much as I was looking forward to Qasim’s character & his scenes, he has been so disappointing. His typicality is ticking me off big time because that’s fine, he’s a father & he’s over-possessive about his daughter but if he had paid an ounce of attention in upbringing Rukhi rightly, he wouldn’t be facing all this. Very conveniently he blamed Saman for what Rukhi’s doing but as much as this notion didn’t make sense, it made me understand that Qasim is not only misapprehended but he is deluded too. Saman just came to America & Rukhi has been dating David since months. He said Rukhi followed Saman’s footsteps but how is the situation of these two girls similar? Saman married an already married man & she decided to leave him, Rukhi is dating a gora, so? Any similarities that I couldn’t pick? Chalo if Saman & Rukhi would’ve been life-long friends, it would’ve made sense that Rukhi got influenced by Saman but she has been head-strong & stubborn on her own & if Qasim loves to play the blame game, he should hold himself responsible first, for supposedly ruining Rukhi’s mindset because he wasn’t clearly paying enough attention to his daughter & he didn’t do his job well.

Can someone also tell me what’s the ‘purpose’ of Omar’s character in this serial? If they hadn’t hired him I am sure the makeup guy would’ve saved heaps of foundation, eyeshades, lip-glosses & the hair guy would’ve saved 10 cans of hairspray. His character is so useless that it’s not even funny. He just wears fancy coats, roams around the streets & the funniest is, he goes around giving people advices on relationships, that too after he has failed at two of his own. How rich is that? LOL! Poor guy. I am glad he is there to provide some entertainment in this otherwise boring drama.

Oh looks like I hit the bullseye last week when I already deduced that the way Shazia spoke about her husband went to show that he didn’t exist & I was so right. He passed away a year ago & she was just faking his presence. Chalo, she wanted to lie to stop her MIL from getting onto her nerves, that’s fine, but how can she go around inviting people over for lunches & dinners when she knows that her husband’s not going to be a part of it? I really like Shazia’s character & even sympathize with her but dudette, you made me terrified because of your mental state. Sorry but looks like all the ladies of this drama are either half-mad or clueless!

I did enjoy Rukhi & David’s scenes. Not sure if they’ll be able to get married but for now, something in this drama that’s appeasing to see is their relationship. Is it just me or most of the conversations that happened between Saman & Zainab didn’t make sense? Yes, Zainab’s annoying but why is Saman always so ticked off at her? The whole ‘tars’ scenario was way too pushed in this episode. Saman’s speaking about ‘tars’, Zainab’s seeking for some ‘tars’ but she ain’t getting any. I find Zainab & Saman’s friendship completely forced. Yes, Saman is staying at Zainab’s place but she is the one who is known for changing places the moment anyone utters a single word in her shaan ki ghustakhi, so it just doesn’t seem right that she has been tolerating Zainab for so long. She has easily been able to find jobs for herself so why can’t she live on her own? I completely find Omar & Zainab’s characters meaningless in this drama.

Oh! That whole crying-on-Omar’s-shoulder scene was so disappointing. I really thought Saman would break down but it was only Rukhi’s condition that reduced her to tears & made her go all inclined towards Omar but then she just left as if something bit her & she wanted to hide it. I really can’t understand Saman either. She is so unhappy that she makes my blood boil. Anyways, share your thoughts about this episode of Zidd please.

I will review Zidd till I find another suitable drama to replace it. Thanks. :)

Zidd – Episode 09!

0

Well, if you don’t have anything to watch on a Tuesday night, you can watch Zidd just to kill some time because the story right now isn’t offering much. It’s just going somewhere without making any sense so it doesn’t matter if the drama’s good or bad, you can just watch it for the sake of watching it.

I think what the writer here is trying to show is that Saman herself has imposed all these hardships on her because she wanted to face life on her own that’s why she is bound to experience all this to actually value what she left behind. If she had accepted her marriage without retaliating, she would never have understood its importance & value. Right now, like Shazia said, Saman is like one of those people who’re in search of positivity & happiness but they forget to look around them because that’s exactly where it exists. I think for her own good, it’s better that Saman walked out of Omar’s home because now it’s her time to learn & face the truth that she hasn’t been happy ever since she decided to ignore her marriage. Once again, by saying this I don’t mean that Omar’s worth it but he can be if Saman gives him a fair chance & I think she eventually will because she has gone through a lot already. Now all that’s left for her is to understand how important her marriage is & to fall in love with her husband.

The notions Omar’s friend had about marriage & wives were ridiculous. I don’t get why Omar always goes to such people to share his problems with because he clearly looked uncomfortable while his friend kept on uttering non-sense about his life & his wife but then, it serves Omar right because he chose to discuss his personal life with a person who clearly falls short on brains!

Sorry to say but I am glad that Shazia’s MIL’s role ended within this episode because her sense-less talking wasn’t appeasing to hear at all. I really thought she’d have something to contribute to the story but she was also used as a filler exactly like that Pakistani student but during all this, I am glad that Shazia’s character was introduced. I liked the conversation she had with Saman because without even knowing, Shazia helped Saman a lot in understanding what she was doing with her life, but yes, I really wanted to see the perfect husband of hers; Asad, but too bad that he never made it to the screen even after he was being spoken about so much. I know it’d sound weird but it looked like Shazia was speaking about someone who never existed because going by her MIL’s depressing utterances, it looked like her son had died or something but then Shazia also invited Saman for lunch on a Sunday afternoon saying her husband Asad suggested it!?! I think it could be Shazia’s MIL’s jealousy talking which is why she sounded so depressed while speaking about her son as going by what Shazia said, her husband loved her a lot, so may be her MIL couldn’t digest it? Oh boy! Things would’ve been so much better if only Mr. Asad had made a single appearance,

Qasim seems like such a hypocrite because what he did in his life is what he is telling his daughter not to do whereas he’s the one who has set that precedent for her. I really like Rukhi & David’s relation but not sure if Rukhi will continue with it or not because Qasim is ruthlessly making so many decisions just so that he can pull her out of it. All of a sudden Qasim has started missing his mother & wants to spend time with her, but why didn’t he think of her before things were happy & normal in his own life?

Zainab’s weird & there’s nothing more to discuss about her. Let’s see what happens ahead because the preview suggested Saman’s break-down that too on Omar’s shoulder, so I’m looking forward to see how did it happen & what made that happen actually. Share your thoughts about this episode please!

Zidd – Episode 08!

Ohkay so, to be honest, this episode was a lot better than the previous few. I found it interesting in bits & seems like apart from Saman’s story, other tracks are offering something to look forward to.

Saman & Qasim’s argument lead her to leave his place. I thought she knew better because she left his place without even notifying him. Being headstrong is good but being uncourteous isn’t. Saman seems to be on a trip of her own where whenever she’s given a reality check, she decides to run away. I know, I do like her for being headstrong but right now she is coming across as someone who has a very confused personality & thought process. I know, what she has gone through has hit her hard but that doesn’t mean she has to run away every single time she’s met with something that makes sense. Qasim only tried to make her understand indirectly that she has been hard on herself & people around her as much as Rukhi is being hard on him but Saman felt she couldn’t stay there & all she could do was ignore his generosity just because only for once he decided to tell the truth to her on her face?

Ohkay so, Saman has decided to hop from one place to another just because she’s in a search of something she herself doesn’t know about. Saman says she wanted to enjoy her life but now when she has finally found a chance, why is she finding it so hard to be happy? I mean of all the places she had, she thought staying at Zainab’s place would be the best option but what was she thinking? I really thought she was wise enough to understand from just one visit to Zainab’s, that her home wasn’t a decent place to stay but Saman chose to ignore all that & felt she would be peaceful there?

For now, I do like Rukhi’s character more. She may be headstrong & stubborn, but she is a lot better & nicer than Saman. Even though she is younger to Saman, she seems more mature, wise, logical & compromising despite being stubborn. Rukhi knows what she wants but she also knows the ways how to get what she desires. She loves David but she also loves her Dad & she wants to make both of them happy. Not even for once she has tried to hurt or emotionally blackmail her father because she knows this will only lead him to have bitter memories of something that’s just so special to her. Even though everyone has spoken to her about her decision, she knows she can trust David because he makes her happy.

Yes, Qasim is a father who only wants something that’s best for Rukhi, but the way he has been so sceptical about an American guy getting married to Rukhi doesn’t look fine because he himself has done the exact same thing in his life, so how can he expect Rukhi to act any differently? During the conversation he had with Saman, it was quite clear that his wife Jullian wasn’t insincere & in fact she was a very good wife but he was the one who couldn’t do justice to her as he was too busy shaping up his life, so when he himself got a good spouse who was an American – his hatred & hesitance doesn’t seem justified. Yes, no guy can ever be good enough for a father to choose for his daughter, but David seems sincere & Rukhi also seems logical. Yes, we’ve been introduced to her soft side that she’s easy to mould but I think, for now, I am ready to trust her judgment & I so hope she finds happiness & the writer doesn’t show that her ‘zidd’ cost her, her happiness.

Zainab is weird & that’s the only word that explains her the best but I do feel her story is going to get a lot more interesting because just one encounter with Omar was enough to make us understand that my assumption could be true which was that she might be Omar’s first wife because the way she complimented him about his dressing & the way her body language changed when he was around, went to show that they do share a history & also we’ve been kept in the dark about Omar’s first wife & I can see why!

So, after all the things Saman has said all these years against living alone in America & taking care of household chores, she has found herself doing exactly the same things & what’s sad is, she really thought her life will throw; exactly what she wants, at her. Plus I really don’t get what is it about cooking & cleaning that takes her back to her statements where she used to condemn all this bluntly & then she frowns for ages. Even if she is doing all this, she is doing it for herself & not for anyone else, so why is it so hard for her? I really thought Saman meant business when she decided to go to USA but now she has opted for a job that her friend used to do before, which is to take care of an old lady (Ismat Zaidi) who has pretty much gone senile. For now, I do find Shazia’s (Angeline Malik) character very composed & nice. What she said was exactly what Saman ‘should’ hear. ‘Logon ko izzat raas nahi ati’ & this is exactly what hit Saman so hard that it made her uncomfortable. Even though Zainab might look a bit superficial but the questions she posed in front of Saman were a lot deeper & meaningful. She really wanted to know why Saman left her husband. What was the reason behind it? Later what Shazia said also matched Saman’s mindset & was more like a cold hard slap for Saman because she could’ve made things work, she could’ve given her husband a chance, she could’ve tried to mend her ways but she chose the otherwise. I do not say that Omar was worth giving a shot for, but the way Saman is tackling her life is making her seem a lot more stupid & that comes across as a shock because no one expected her to be so immature & after all that she’s doing to herself, seems like if she had ‘compromised’ & stayed with Omar, it would’ve been a lot more better.

After new entries, I feel this drama is going to revolve around female characters only & because of that it seems like our nakaam ashiq hero Omar is going to get lost in the crowd of damsels in distress, which is why his scenes look a lot like fillers in most of the episodes & it seems his role has become stagnant because; he got married, failed at it, he got married again, brought his wife to USA, almost failed at this marriage too & his job is pretty much done here. Now he is seen conversing with his friend crying over how bad his life has turned out to be or he goes around discussing matters which really don’t concern him, like Rukhi’s affair. ‘Mujhe lagta hai jitna app usay rokainge, wo utna appse duur bhagegi’ says Omar who advices Qasim to be a bit patient whereas he was the one who couldn’t do the same when it came to Saman. He was out there, reminding her again & again that she should accept her ‘husband’ as he was her ‘husband’ & she should do everything that her ‘husband’ likes but Omar should’ve understood that imposing himself as a ‘husband’ on her wasn’t the right thing to do.

Anyways, let’s see what this drama has in store for us. The preview of next episode seemed interesting too. I do find the pace of all the episodes a lot slower & really struggle to keep my interest intact. If it wasn’t for reviewing, I wouldn’t be watching it so vigilantly as it doesn’t manage to grab your interest instantly. Share your thoughts about this episode of Zidd please.

Zidd – Episode 07!

Hmmm, after watching this episode, I am not sure what the writer here is trying to achieve. Looks like the writer tried to push herself really hard in order to come up with a certain sort of a story that’s why I feel a lot of things are pretty much forced & are not making much sense at the moment.

The episode began at a similar note where there was a scene about that Pakistani student. I don’t just understand what are they trying to show through him & what issue Saman has with him? She is quite an easy going person who always believes in simplifying things, so what is it about that guy that ticks her off? Obviously she is not that easy going when it comes to her life but when she is seen giving suggestions to others, she always sides with the most preferable & approachable option, so first of all there was no point of giving that student so much of a coverage & if they had decided to do that, why can’t they show Saman simply backing out frankly? Why do they always show her getting agitated at the sight of him?

Ohkay so just when Saman decided she wanted to do some cooking, she was taken back to the memories of what she used to say about a girl doing all these things & that’s when it hit her that she was just about to do something that she swore she would never do & just then she decided to start a fight & walk out of this relation she felt she wasn’t happy with. This was from Saman but what Omar did & said was another shocker as well. Why is it that his attitude always keeps on fluctuating? One day he’ll be playing a role of a sweetest husband ever & the next day he would come across as the most stern & rude person who only knows how to boss around his wife?

Saman decided to leave Omar’s place for good but the conversations that followed her departure didn’t make any sense at all. I thought she & Qasim uncle would be able to relate to each other & he will guide her through his experience but why is it that when she actually compared her situation to his, it just didn’t seem right. What Qasim told her came after a lifelong experience at which he held himself responsible but here, what Saman said didn’t seem reasonable as it’s been only a month for which she has stayed with Omar & she says she has tried a lot by giving everything she could to this relation, but is it just me or that never happened because I am sure if she had done anything of that sort, we would’ve been able to see it.

I really don’t understand why there are a lot of conversations that try to enforce the fact that Saman is ‘different’. She says she’s tired of being ‘different’, Rukhi thinks Saman’s ‘different’, the photographer she only met twice felt she was ‘different’ from all the other desis he has met & every single person around her says she’s ‘different’. So the point is when we already know that she’s ‘different’, why does the writer feel the need to spoon-feed this to us every single time? & oh another thing that I noticed was when Saman met David, she left suddenly without leaving any contact number but in this episode, she was seen meeting him again & also discussed how she has left her husband? I mean they never gave away an impression that these two people will meet again & now when they did, how come Saman felt so much comfortable around him that she shared her personal life details with David that too in just a second meeting?

I also don’t know why Saman is seen wasting her time. As much as I know about her, she was a quite a career oriented person, so why can’t she just find a job in America instead of wasting her time on the streets wandering randomly & then goes around asking people for refuge? Saman always wanted to be independent so now when the time is supposedly right for her, why can’t she take charge of her life? Why is Saman seeking help from other people? Isn’t she compromising on her rules now? Isn’t she herself living a life that she didn’t want for her?

I don’t quite get what Omar wants from his life too. I am sure if he had spent half a time on this marriage as much as he has on his makeup, his life would’ve been a whole lot better. Looks like after a failed marriage, he has indulged in self-pity where he goes around crying in front of people & backbites about how difficult his wife is rather than trying to talk things out with his wife directly. All he has ever done is taunt his wife for not being able to fulfil her wifely duties so why does he think Saman will budge?

Looks like Rukhi is going to get a lot more coverage because her track seems to be moving at a steady pace. She’s in love with David & he has proposed marriage to her. Obviously, Qasim doesn’t approve but looks like this will lead to a heated argument between Qasim & Saman, which will force her to leave this place too.

For now, I quite don’t understand where this drama is going to go because nothing’s falling into perspective. The main leads seem scattered brained & the side characters are getting a lot more coverage. I just can’t stop noticing how horrible the makeup has been & I haven’t seen Humayun Ashraf (Raza) perform before but I find his acting very very week. I must say Maya Ali hasn’t been impressive in this role so far too & I find her dialogue delivery very effortful. The preview of next episode suggested entry of some new faces & characters, I am not sure if they’d be able to carry the story of Zidd forward but let’s see. So far – so not good. Zidd – Episode 06!

Hmmmm, in my opinion this episode failed to deliver completely. I now feel that the main leads have nothing much to offer that’s why the supporting cast is getting a lot more coverage than required. It was a completely filler sort of an episode with just a few bits & bobs that were revealed about all the characters.

So, seems like Saman has not come to terms with the betrayal yet. At the moment she is just wandering not only in the streets but in her life too. She has lost that drive, that motivation that she had & right now she is just completely depressed but knows that no one has ever been able to understand her, therefore, she is just keeping it to herself. On the other hand, Omar is trying really hard to make this marriage work & bring Saman back to normal but I don’t know if his constant reminders about his first marriage & Saman’s engagements are going to help at all? I just don’t understand why every conversation they have ends at a mention of their previous relationships? I didn’t quite understand what Omar was trying to imply by telling Saman that he hasn’t questioned her for being ‘engaged’ twice before & how much she was into those relations? I really think their track has become stagnant for now & isn’t offering much, plus I also have a feeling that it’s going to be like that because I don’t see anything coming either. As per my assumption; all there’s left in this track is for Saman to fall completely in loveee with her husband & ta-da, that’ll be the end.

I have always found Nousheen Shah a very effortless actor but somehow I feel she pushed herself too hard this time. May be this was her very first appearance in this drama, that’s why she was made to make it loud & in-your-face but it just didn’t deliver at all. She has wrecked her life, she hasn’t completed her degree & is jobless but I must say, for a jobless student, she does live in a fancy apartment. I think she’s up for no good & will somehow involve Saman in her life but it’s too early to be assuming things about her character, so I am ready to see what her story has to offer. For now, all I got to understand about her is that she doesn’t know how sugarcoat things & she is quite blunt as well.

I felt that the whole Pakistani student thing was very much forced in this episode. There were almost 3 – 4 conversations about him but the funny part is, his name wasn’t mentioned at all, so yes, I found the whole gumnaam student bit very boring because it just didn’t think he contributed to this episode at all except for dragging it to say the least. I must say, this is the very first time I’m getting to watch Rabab Hashim perform & I must say she has a bright future ahead because as it may seem; acting comes very naturally to her. I find her acting, her character & her aura very impressive.

So, it was Saman’s birthday but she chose to spend it with a random chummy guy who even photographed her & she didn’t seem to mind at all but she was seen awkward around her husband. Yes, I do understand that the sense of betrayal has knocked her down but we were made to believe that Saman knows how to troubleshoot things in her life, so why isn’t she at least trying to pick up the pieces & move on? Yes, headstrong people can be emotional, they can be weak too but it would be much appreciated if she takes control of the situation rather than roaming around aimlessly.

The preview suggested that we’re once again going to see a lot of drama happening in the supporting characters’ lives but I have a feeling that Saman will somehow connect to all of them because she has nothing much to do in her personal life. I think she will bond well with Qasim Uncle & I am interesting to see that because I like his character a lot & I think he will guide Saman, inspire her & will become a father figure for her, which’ll be great.

On a random note, it looks like all these ladies were made to do their makeup themselves & they’ve done a pretty hideous job there because no matter how novice a makeup artist is, they’d never make such mistakes in the makeup. Their foundations (except Nousheen’s) aren’t matching their skin-tones & they do need quite a bit of concealing which is completely missing from their faces. Anyways, share your thoughts about this episode please.

Zidd – Episode 05!

Ohkay so, even though the pace of most of the episodes is slow, I am glad that the story is moving forward pretty decently. I like the direction of this play a lot & feel that the scenes are relatively to-the-point.

I don’t know why but I don’t feel a thing for Saman’s family. The way they tried to magnify her mistakes where she took a stand for herself was completely out of line. They think their daughter is at fault because she broke her engagements but Omar is a gentleman despite being married. Yes, that’s fine, people do get divorced for the reasons best known to them & being a divorcee doesn’t mean a person is bad but the way Saman & Omar are being compared that too by her own family isn’t justified. The way her parents reminded her of her responsibilities which also included dealing with the fact of her husband being married was ridiculous. They think Saman should be on cloud 9 because she has found a perfect partner & supposedly she has hit a jackpot but they’re responsible for changing her behavior towards Omar by hiding a huge thing about his past from Saman. If they had come clean about Omar’s first marriage, I think Saman would be reacting differently now. The betrayal is huge & I think it’s completely justified if she is taking some time in coming back to normal & adjusting to this new change that has overcome her life. Even though the whole see-off scene was done nicely – it didn’t seem heartfelt because Saman’s family wronged her. Yes, they do love her & she is still a part of them but what they’ve done to her is unforgivable & I am with Saman on this as she has all the right to be bitter because her own family broke her trust & even though Omar wasn’t a part of the plan, he’s the reason why her family did this to her. I felt a lot for Saman when she said she isn’t missing her family. I thought I’d like Raza’s character but actually I don’t. The way Saman hung up on Raza clearly showed that she hasn’t forgiven him for talking her into this marriage & sadly, even though Saman might’ve been wrong at so many different levels for her family but this time, she wasn’t.

So, the new entries seemed interesting & I hope they have a good role to play in Saman & Omar’s life. Saman met Rukhi (Rabab Hashim) who’s a daughter of Qasim (Imran Peerzada) who happen to be relatives of Omar. Saman could instantly connect to her because she sees herself in Rukhi. Just like Saman, Rukhi is a headstrong girl, who has been pampered by her father so much that she’s now used to do what she deems fit. I am interested to see how their friendship will grow & what sort of bond these two girls will form.

Omar is now trying too hard to treat Saman as his wife & become a husband to her but Saman is still not mentally ready to let go of what happened so easily. She will take time which she for sure is entitled to. Of all the people, I find Omar’s character very confusing. In the beginning he taunted her & now he is trying hard to project himself as a very easy going husband who gives all sorts of freedom to his wife. I think it will take some time for me to actually understand his character & I think the curiosity has been perfectly build up by the writer here. Another character that’s yet to make an entry in this drama is of Zainab played by Nousheen Shah. She happens to be Saman’s friend & I am guessing she’d be Omar’s first wife too.

I’d say Zidd is so far so good. I must say I really like the OST of this drama & I feel Maya Ali looked really pretty in white ensembles & even her makeup seemed just right for her plus she looked gorg carrying the red pout. I like how she has worked on her wardrobe & also how her look changed when she went to USA. I so wish I could say that about Ahsan Khan but oh boy! His monotony knows no limits. I have lost count of all the dramas in which his hairstyle was exactly the same & also what’s wrong with the fluctuating length of his hair in every single drama? His hair was shorter in Pakistan & was comparatively longer in the USA. I must say he should really work on his look because that half straight, half wavy, half curled, been-static-since-ages hairstyle doesn’t suit him & he should get rid of that stubble too. He’s such a natural actor but seems like he depends more on his acting & less on his looks, which he shouldn’t. Anyways, I liked this episode & hope the story keeps on getting better & better. Zidd – Episode 04!

Hmmm. This story is obviously very different to what we’ve watched before, so when there are a few things that you like, there are also a few things you might not agree with. This episode revolved around a lot of revelations imposed on Saman & also a certain realizations that left her shattered.

Ohkay, so Saman’s family thinks they can’t deal with her anymore & now when they ran out of ideas of how she must be tackled, they decided to go for an ultimate ‘problem solving medicine’ of Pakistani nation i-e Marriage. I think this time around, I’d blame them more than Saman because what they did to her was totally inadequate. At least, Saman was honest & believed in transparency but the way her own family trapped her into this marriage to get rid of her was shocking. Saman had only been ‘engaged’ twice, so how does it give an edge to her family to get her married to a guy who was ‘married’ already? Just because they were done reasoning with her & they felt she was making it hard for them, they decided to get back at her by deceiving her into this marriage. I thought they might find out about Omar’s past after Saman’d get married to him but looks like they staged this marriage even when they knew about his marital status. I think the worst thing a family could ever do to one of its family members would be breaking the trust they have in them & this is exactly what Saman’s family did to her. I am amazed that these so-called literate people felt ‘this’ was the right thing to do & not only had they accepted a proposal of Omar, they lied to Saman till she signed the marriage contract.

Yes, we all agree that Saman has been a very difficult person & she has been very hard on her family but now when I come to think of it, her demands were simple. She did not want to get married & it’s as simple as that. I don’t think her biological clock was ticking so fast that they had to get her married by hook or by crook. Yes, she put them through a lot of awkward situations & even they had to face some sort of embarrassment because of what may seem to them as irrational decisions taken by her but at least she was honest & the least she expected from her family was that they’d be honest with her as well.

I am unsure about Omar. Where at one hand he seemed considerate, on the other he casually ended up taunting Saman for calling off her engagements. Omar even had an audacity to question her about why she broke off her engagements whereas he’s the one who needs to do the explaining. Yes, Omar on his own does seem justified because he didn’t hide the fact of him being married before but now when he had learnt that Saman had no idea about it, the least he could do was show some courtesy towards her. I am sure we can’t judge him just now but the way he quickly started acting like ‘he-is-the-husband/he-is-the-boss’ in this relation didn’t make me like his character one bit.

The more I saw Appu, the more my blood boiled. She is the one who couldn’t stop praising Omar & his family. She is the one who infiltrated Saman’s family’s mind against her & she’s the one who initiated this wreck of a wedding. I didn’t even like the way Saman’s family was still blaming her for what they did to her, for how they fell short on honesty & shattered her trust. Everyone thinks she lives in a bubble of her own, she has disconnected herself to the whole wide world, she is the one who doesn’t value her relations & she is the one who deserved it but excuse me, why would you blame someone who was clear in what she wanted from her life? I don’t think she spoke in some alien lingo for them to understand that she was not ready for a commitment yet. All her parents could do after the wedding was just wonder if she was happy or not but I don’t think they should burden themselves with this much worry too because they didn’t think of her happiness before so there’s no point in bothering about it now as well. I am actually disappointed with Raza’s attitude too. He blamed Saman for being indifferent but isn’t he the one who is totally absorbed in his life & his fiancée? I thought he was the one who actually understood his sister but looks like he also wanted to get rid of her just so that he could get married peacefully.

This episode was full of shocks & unpleasant surprises but I did enjoy the conversation Saman had with her friend & also the whole marriage function scene, it was to-the-point & just done rightly. Share your thoughts on this episode please.

Zidd – Episode 03!

Haha, to be honest, I enjoyed watching Zidd tonight. This episode was a blend of grave & funny situations that are often seen happening in a typical shadi wala ghar, where each & everyone is involved & contributes to the wedding in their own way.

So, Saman is all about honesty. Like I sussed, she wanted a right to file for divorce in her marriage contract. Saman took a right stand but like always, her way was wrong & just because she was well aware of the fact that none of her family member would understand what she was asking for, she decided to take situation in her hands. Her father took a firm-hand at her obviously because he couldn’t deal with her anymore as Saman has lost her credibility & he was by no means ready to support her. Where it did look like she’d surrender to her father’s order but by the end of the day, she did what she deemed fit only after she got the assurance from Omar that she wanted. It was only a matter of one question & she sealed the deal. I like Saman for the fact that she is very blunt, bold & straight forward. Yes, people like her often face repercussions for being honest but Saman feels she can never let go of her honesty & I like her character for that.

As expected, Omar’s family came to Pakistan to shop for a typical, shareef, desi & rooted sort of a bride for Omar but they were taken aback by Saman’s personality because she is anything but that. She is headstrong, opinionated & exactly the girl Omar’s mother didn’t want him to get married to. I was pleasantly surprised by the way Omar & his father reacted because they didn’t find anything odd in the demand Saman put forth. She was lawfully entitled to what she asked for & they didn’t seem to mind. Omar’s father Suhail thought she was different but good & Omar liked her for her honesty which was great.

Saman also decided to let the big secrets out. She felt it was Omar’s right to know everything about Saman’s life because she couldn’t live with the burden of hiding something from him. Obviously, it looked like Omar was shocked with what he heard as he was expecting Saman to have a clean slate but after watching the preview of next episode, I think Omar felt he was cheating Saman who knows nothing but honesty because he was carrying a baggage of guilt as he was hiding something himself. I found it very interesting that being a girl, Saman was gutsy enough to speak openly about the decisions she has made in her life while Omar being a liberal guy from USA couldn’t bring himself to tell her the truth before getting married to her.

I think it was for the first time that we got to see Saman’s jovial side which I enjoyed watching the most; otherwise she is always seen as an angry bird that is unhappy & irritated. She actually seemed amused at how Omar reacted when she laid bare her secrets in front of him. I also enjoyed watching the scenes of Sonia, Raza & Appu when they were discussing the decoration of Saman’s room. Another scene that was done brilliantly was of the misapprehensive conversation between Omar & Saman’s fathers. I am sure Suhail would be speaking about something entirely different but just because Saman’s father knows that Saman hasn’t done anything to make him proud, he therefore acted like a person who is guilty for something but doesn’t want to admit. The acting of both the fathers was brilliant in that particular scene & it was written really well too.

I think they’ve very nicely blended the situational comedy in this drama that deals with serious issues that people face because of their family members. Saman tests their patience, puts them through emotional challenges every single day but somehow they find a way to deal with it. I am glad that this drama is now getting interesting. The preview seemed enticing too because looks like Omar will reveal the big secret that he was hiding from Saman as well. Let’s see what happens next. Please share your thoughts.

Zidd – Episode 02!

0

Hmmm, still not sure what I feel about this drama because it hasn’t made a mark as yet. I understand that a few stories take some time to pick up the pace but everything for now seems a bit too forced however there are a few bits & bobs that I do like about this serial but it hasn’t made an impact as a whole. I am just trying to understand Saman’s nature & attitude but then I hope it proves to be worthy of our time & effort because other than that I don’t see anything extra ordinary in this serial for now (which I hope changes soon).

I do like the way Saman & Raza’s relation has been shown. Everyone knew that it was only Raza who could tiptoe through the minefield & convince Saman on getting married once again. I did enjoy how the conversations have been written because it was good to see some detailing in them & the way Raza got Saman’s agreement was totally interesting. He started off by trying to make her understand that two people always have different perspectives & different thinking but that doesn’t mean one always backs out on making a commitment & this thought struck a chord & she agreed easily.

I must say where I do find Saman’s nature interesting, I kind of find her odd as well. She is career oriented & is driven plus she knows that no one understands her well but then why does she always surrender when it comes to marriage? Saman knows how to take a stand for herself & that too for the right, so why can’t she just tell her family once & for all that she is not interested in getting married for now? Every single time, she allows them to get her hitched but then she gives everyone else a hard time, calls off her engagement/marriage & then she’s so much at peace that she finds a time to watch a movie while everyone in her family is having a sleepless night!

12

I know it was supposed to be funny but the way Saman’s family was walking on the eggshells the whole time wasn’t appeasing to say the least. I mean if they are well aware of what her thoughts are about this relation, then why are they trying so hard to get her settled? Saman; who herself agreed on this proposal was giving rude looks to Omar (Ahsan Khan) her new husband-to-be? She was indifferent, she wasn’t interested but then she’s the one who thought that this marriage was the only way to find an escape from this tedious job of rishta hunting, so was it such a hard thing to just sit through her own function with a smile on her face?

To be honest, I lol’ed at the entry of Ahsan Khan, I mean may I ask how typical can he be? I remember in one of my comments last week I mentioned that we’ll get to see a shot of a parking sedan, followed by a close-up of our hero coming out of the car with his gelled back signature hairstyle, all suited booted, prim & proper & voila! I am so glad that Ahsan Khan didn’t prove me wrong because this is exactly how he has made an entry in all of his serials lately, so how could Zidd be any different?

FotorCreated

There was once again a verbal spat between Saman & her mother where she used the C (compromise) word & Saman wasn’t thrilled by the idea of it. The only time I found Saman reasonable in this episode was when she showed some interest in telling Omar the truth about her previous breakups because that’s when she made sense that every relation should begin with transparency, not with secrets or compromises. Omar on the other hand found Saman’s family very conservative but his mother (Huma Nawab) seemed quite satisfied because she felt that the girls who belong to such background can be moulded easily. It looked like Omar also wanted to discuss a few things with Saman before the marriage happens but Appu swooped in with her agenda of maintaining a distance between the bride & the groom, in which she succeeded & they both couldn’t find a chance to speak to each other.

Well honestly, the note at which the drama ended made me say ‘not again’ because Saman wanted to call this marriage quits as well. It was after she read her Nikkah Nama. If I’m not mistaken I think she’d be wanting a right to divorce because the way she was partaking in this marriage saga went to show that she was just using it as a medium to her freedom & more like a ticket to USA because this is exactly what she said to her friend too. The preview of the next episode didn’t make me look forward to it but I will be watching as I ain’t giving up on it as yet. This episode was just ohkay but yes, the direction & pace of this episode was better & it was good to see Huma Nawab on screen after a long long time. Zidd – Episode 01!

0

Ohkay so, Zidd; writing of Bee Gul, direction of Adnan Wai Qureshi & production of Momina Duraid has hit our TV screens tonight. To be honest, by the end of the very first episode, I wouldn’t say that I am thrilled to see this drama but I would definitely say that I am keen to find out how things are going to work & how the story will unfold, so for this, I am definitely giving the team of Zidd a benefit of doubt because it’s just a start & right now, they may have not given us much to discuss but I am sure the story will get interesting because a lot of characters have yet to make their appearance in the drama. The very first episode doesn’t give you much apart from an insight into Maya Ali’s character but I am sure as the story will progress, we’ll get to see more shades of her.

So, the story began at the note where Akbar (Kanwar Arsalan) & Saman (Maya Ali) are engaged to be married in 15 days but have serious compatiblility issues. They both are brusque, headstrong, opinionated & most of all short-tempered in nature. Akbar obviously loves his fiancée but that can’t be said about Saman who is as a very practical person & makes decisions after thinking things through. Saman doesn’t believe in compromises because of which she dreads getting committed in a long term marital relation because she knows, this relation will demand compromises from her & she isn’t mentally ready to do that for Akbar at least. Saman, at first might come across as a hasty decision maker but she is much more farsighted than she might seem to be. Saman can clearly see that they both won’t have a smooth relation because they both don’t share a mental wavelength & are not compatible at all. Akbar on the other hand might be short tempered but he certainly is flexible & likes to make Saman happy because of which even after she throws a hissy fit of postponing the wedding followed by calling off the engagement, he still finds a way to convince her by agreeing to her demand.

Collage 2

Hell breaks loose in Saman & Akbar’s homes when they find out about the new decision that Saman has made & expects everyone to agree to it. Akbar clearly wasn’t the one who chose Saman for himself but he got engaged to her after his parents selected her for him & later he fell in love with her. The reactions of both their parents seemed realistic where one couple was furious & the other was worried due to the unexpected turn of events. Saman clearly feels that no one really understands her & knows what she wants. She feels that she doesn’t get the support she expects from her family but it’s only her father (Manzoor Qureshi) who knows how to tackle her but after a certain extent, he seems helpless in front of his daughter too because of her stubbornness.

Collage 1

In the whole fiasco the guy who seems relaxed or rather indifferent is Saman’s brother Raza (Humayun Ashraf) because he knows that it was one of those days where his sister is out of control but the very next day she would understand what she did was wrong & everything will get back to normal. Raza is happily engaged to Sonia (Hina Javed) whom he loves to bits & they both share a very cordial relation in comparison to Saman & Akbar, who are still having doubts about marrying each other 2 weeks before their wedding is scheduled.

Saman’s Aunt Appu (Sultana Zafar) shows up expecting to see a lot of happening in the shadi wala ghar but what she encounters is something she never expected. Somehow Saman does agree to get married to Akbar half-heartedly but still the way she participates in the preps shows she still doesn’t want this marriage to happen. It takes one more argument for Saman to decide inevitably that she can’t get married to Akbar as they will face nothing but problems if they both get married & this time around Akbar gives in too because he seems tired of having the same argument over & over again.

So, this is what the first episode of Zidd was all about. I feel the pace of the episode could’ve been a bit better but seems like they will take some time in revealing everything so for that, it’s acceptable. Direction was good & so was the screenplay & I also felt that the characters have been written in detail because you instantly get an insight into their nature. It goes without saying that HUM’s production value has always been great & visually the drama was appeasing to see. I also like the title song sung by Hadiqa Kiyani (if I ain’t mistaken). All the actors did their job well but I am interested to find out more about Saman’s character. I am sure there will come a time & such a person in her life for whom she will be ready to do everything including what she loathes the most & that is; compromise. Zhalay Sarhadi is a famous and talented Pakistani actress. The woman who starred in the movie Jalaibee is now all set for her another movie, Chalay Thay Saath alongside Syra Shehroz, Kent S Leung and Faris Khalid.

Between Jalaibee and Chalay Thay Saath, I’ve rejected nine films,” Sarhadi told The Express Tribune.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BRU9i2mDXCW/?taken-by=zhalay

“I want to explore my acting skills and talent and most of the roles offered to me were very much inspired from Bollywood.”

“It was the most original script that had come my way so far. Chalay Thay Saath is fresh, youthful and energetic.”

She plays the character of Alina in the movie. While talking about her character, she said:

“Alina is someone who has seen setbacks in life. So, she takes a break and sets out to find herself through a trip to Hunza, and then she meets Faraz (Khalid’s character). Hers is a very cathartic journey. She is stepping back and reflecting on her life.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BRYlxlxjemW/

While talking about her experience with the filming, she said:

“It was an amazing experience. Mansha Pasha is one of my best friends and we were already planning to embark on a trip up north. So, the film provided us with that opportunity. And then, of course, it’s great when the team, especially the director, you work with has done their homework and know what they want. That’s why it was a lot of fun working on the film.”

She is also working on three other film projects:

“All I can say at the moment is they will be very different from Alina.” Sarhadi has acting in her blood, with her family, including her uncle Khayyam Sarhadi and grandfather Zia Sarhadi who were also involved in the entertainment industry of their eras. But for her, joining the industry was not the matter of carrying on the family legacy.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BRlEdrSj5yU/

“It’s about my personal gratification. I always knew I would go on to work in the industry. Of course, it was relatively easy for me because this business was already in the family. Not that I have a chip on my shoulder, but I just want to do things and enjoy working.” she said.

While commenting on television factors now coming in films, she says:

“Of course, every industry needs fresh new faces at one point. But when you’re working anyway, I believe an actor should deliver the performance with full conviction.”
