Opening Thoughts – Impactful Script:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was exactly what the majority of the viewers didn’t want it to be. The drama which was so convincing ended on such a note that unfortunately confirmed the fears the viewers had, who had invested so much time & emotions in Khaas. The final episode was enough to ruin the beautiful journey that this drama has been but still I won’t let this take away the fact that the drama-makers gave us a very memorable drama with so many perspective altering lessons. Khaas was a well-executed, well-written & well-directed drama which covered a subject which was not explored in such a detailed manner before. In the past we have come across a lot of dramas that have revolved around dysfunctional relationships, broken marriages & divorces, but Sarwat Nazeer picked up a complex subject like that of a toxic relationship & elaborated it in such a simple manner that it definitely has left an impact on the viewers’ mind. This definitely is a success for the entire team that came together for this project.

Lessons That Khaas Taught:

This has always been the strength of Sarwat Nazeer’s scripts that she picks up difficult subjects & conveys them in such a way that every intricacy or complexity gets across in a clear manner. Khaas had many lessons along the way but none of it was conveyed in a preachy manner. Khaas definitely tells mothers to raise better sons, it also tells parents to believe in their daughters first. Khaas also touched upon the subject of how the entire burden of a divorce should not be put on a woman & her family shouldn’t behave irrationally, putting societal pressures on their daughter who is already going through the toughest phase of her life. Khaas also touched upon the subject of how important it is for the siblings to become a support system in times like these, rather than blaming & name-calling. This drama has shed a light on the fact that toxic relationships exist & are very much a reality – such relationships which seemingly are perfect but drain every ounce of energy, confidence & self-esteem out of the people involved. What I loved the most about Khaas was that Sarwat Nazeer never once showed Saba believing that she was a victim. Yes, in the initial episodes she did look like one but as the episodes progressed & Ammar’s real personality was revealed, Saba’s character evolved. For the most part of the drama, Saba continued to work, mend ways & do everything in her power to save this marriage as well as trying hard to accept Ammar the way he was while also trying to change him but she could not succeed. Khaas showed that one should never judge or hold the girl responsible for not trying ‘enough’ because when a person is done trying is when they want a closure. Khaas has also shown how respect, encouragement, support & love are key factors for a healthy relationship & what all these qualities can do for a woman.

I will always remember Khaas for all the Khaas reasons. I admit that I am disappointed after watching the last episode, I was actually furious but now when I am reviewing it & looking back on the entire journey, I feel better. For me, Khaas ended last week. I will remember it as the last episode where Saba & Fakhir lived happily ever after. I will definitely wipe this episode off my memory because it is something I don’t agree with. Yes, the writer wanted to show the reality but I am sure giving Saba & Fakhir a happy ending wouldn’t have changed the overall journey that Khaas has been – filled with so many meaningful messages. I found this twist in the end forced & uncalled for. Fakhir could’ve lived longer, cheering for Saba, being her partner & support system, raising their son together. I am not sure why it was was necessary to be shown that Saba didn’t need Fakhir by her side, because now she could just live her entire life as a single mother relying on the life-long lessons that Fakhir taught her? No matter how strong a woman or a mother is, a husband & a father figure not being in the picture always leaves a huge void. I know, by showing Saba as a strong independent, self-reliant single mother, the writer must’ve tried to pay tribute to such strong women in the society who are faced with such situations & are living their lives with strength & bravery, but considering that they had already shown Saba having her fair share of miseries by being in a toxic relationship with Ammar, it definitely wouldn’t have hurt to give her a happy & peaceful ending with her second husband!

The Final Episode:

So, Sonia said whatever was on her mind. I am glad she gave every woman in Ammar’s family a reality check, something that they all were in dire need of but then that’s where it all ended. I know the director didn’t want to go much into the detailing & didn’t want to waste time by elaborating the thought process of every character but I do wish he had shown Ammar’s mother being regretful & acknowledging the fact that she played a huge part in turning Ammar into a narcissist. After Nida’s engagement was called off, Kanwal did think about how Saba must’ve felt when no one believed her but I feel that wasn’t enough. When Sonia was giving everyone a piece of her mind, I so wanted Farah to speak up too but she was edited in like a silent spectator, which she was already turned into for the most part of the drama. Farah was shown as a lively & opinionated character, yes, she herself went through a heartbreak & a transition but still, she was at this much of ease where she could say whatever was on her mind to Kanwal, so for her to just roll her eyes & be uneasy was kind of hard to watch. Farah did have a conversation with Ammar but I guess more than that, she should’ve had it with Kanwal, telling her that Saba & Salma were not wrong!

I feel Ammar’s regret would’ve made sense if they had edited out the last scene where he still believed that he was every woman’s dream. Why show him being regretful when eventually it had to be made clear that he hadn’t changed? Yes, it was obvious that no matter what Ammar said or did would not have changed the way the viewers thought about him, so I really feel either they should’ve shown that he chose not to change or he did mean everything he said to his friends about him realizing his mistakes. Changing was not in Ammar’s control. He could not do anything to fix his issues because in order to do that, he had to first start acknowledging the fact that he had certain problems, but being a person that he was, he could not bring himself to that point to first admit & then try to sort those issues. I don’t think showing Ammar recalling his atrocious behavior with Saba did anything to give his character a proper closure.

Fakhir passed away & he did everything he could to secure Saba & their son’s future. Fakhir could totally feel that something was going to happen to him, or may be let’s just say that he manifested this himself. When the episode began, I actually felt may be the drama-makers were just playing with the feelings of the viewers but oh well, they had made up their mind that Fakhir had to die. One thing I am the most happy about is that this drama didn’t turn into a Halala story. Saba chose not to go back to Ammar & to be honest, I couldn’t be more angry at Javeria. When Javeira had to show up at Saba’s house to help clear her image in front of Faraz & Sadaf, she couldn’t find the time to do so but now when Ammar told her to plead his case in front of Saba, she immediately hopped in her car & went straight to see Saba. How twisted seriously! Anyways, I am glad that Saba silenced her & let her know that she had burnt all the bridges & Ammar was nothing for her!

Closing Thoughts – Job Well Done:

Khaas definitely had a weak & unconvincing start but after a few episodes, it not only kick-started but ended up becoming one such drama that I used to look forward to the entire week. Khaas actually turned out to be Khaas. Sarwat Nazeer’s script along with Danish Nawaz’s strong direction made Khaas what it is. The actors also played a huge part in the success of Khaas because if it wasn’t for their strong & phenomenal performances, Khaas wouldn’t have been this successful. Sanam Baloch definitely chose an amazing script & she played Saba’s character to perfection. She made us feel for Saba, understand her struggles & frustrations. Sanam Baloch has always been a very strong performer, so it is good to see her getting back in her element. It is good that Sanam Baloch is at that stage of performing where she believes in giving her characters a realistic look. Her clothing, basic hair & makeup in certain scenes went to show that she wanted to give a very genuine & real treatment to Saba & she did a great job. However, being a morning show host for so many years has definitely taken a toll on Sanam Baloch’s voice & now when she is venturing back into acting, she definitely should pay heed to this aspect for sure.

Ali Rehman was at his finest in Khaas. I don’t remember seeing Ali Rehman being this convincing in any of his projects before. Ali Rehman made Ammar’s character look very real, his mannerisms, his antics, his entire body language showed that Ammar was an over-confident narcissist who only believed in his own perfection. Ali Rehman should definitely take a bow for such a phenomenal performance in Khaas.

Hira Tareen was another star of this drama, even though her role was short but she made her presence felt in such a short span for sure. Her minute expressions & fierceness while delivering such harsh dialogues were brilliant, she definitely gave Salma’s character the kind of treatment it required. Also, Hira Tareen didn’t allow people to hate Salma, rather with her excellent performance, she convinced everyone that she was who she was – unapologetic & selfish.

Haroon Shahid also played the character of Fakhir to perfection, he gave Fakhir the look & feel of being the acha insaan that Saba was in search of. Haroon Shahid should definitely experiment with more characters because I am sure he will excel in portraying them too. All the supporting actors like Natasha, Mashal Khan, Amna Malik, Anum Gohar, Saba Faisal, Lubna Aslam, Behroz Sabzwari, Sajida Syed, Shehryar Zaidi, Maryam Mirza played their characters convincingly as well.

Danish Nawaz definitely deserves full points for having a vision & bringing it to life in such a convincing manner while directing Khaas. Sarwat Nazeer should also take a bow for bringing such a unique subject to the table & doing complete justice to it. The overall journey of Khaas was definitely Khaas & I will remember it for all the good things it had offered. Congratulations team Khaas for a successful drama. Opening Thoughts – Job:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas didn’t take the story forward but it still showed how Saba’s character was evolving. This episode mainly focused on Saba’s job & Ammar’s stance on Saba’s job as well as everyone else’s opinion on her job. Did I remind you guys enough that this episode was about Saba’s job? If not then let me do that again, Saba is keen for a job & now we will get to see what she will have to do in order to get & do a job.

Job:

Saba’s GPA has made Ammar insecure. It is obvious that Ammar is finding it hard to accept that his wife has it in her to draw attention towards her. Ammar is the kind of person who wants to be the front runner & can not tolerate if anyone diverts the attention away from him & ever since he & Saba have gotten married, Ammar is finding it hard to treat Saba as an equal. Ammar has his own ways of pleasing Saba but that does not include uplifting, encouraging or supporting her or her dreams. Ammar just wants Saba to spend her entire life living the way Ammar desires but he is unable to realize that it is getting suffocating for Saba & she is a human being with her own dreams & now her dream revolves around her job. I think I didn’t mention job enough in this paragraph so trying my level best. Job!

In this episode, it was shown brilliantly that even though no one saw any problems with Ammar before, just because of his treatment with Saba, everyone has slow & steadily started to realize that he is a narcissist & an eccentric person who only gives Saba a hard time. Sonia, out of all the people has now started to be vocal about it but no one else sees the problem in him. Yes, Ammar’s sister Nida also joked about Ammar’s insecurity but then, since everyone is so used to babysitting Ammar, they don’t even want to hear any complains about Ammar or his behaviour. Sonia has started sympathizing with Saba but then there’s not much that she can do apart from supporting or encouraging Saba. Sonia, Farah, Ammar’s friends & even Ammar & Saba’s parents feel that Saba should do a job but then Ammar is openly speaking against it. Ammar can obviously not tell everyone his actual reasons that is why he puts Saba down trying to convince everyone that she is not capable of doing a job. Oh, did I mention this episode was about Saba’s job?

The highlight of this episode for me was the change in Saba’s attitude & her behaviour. Saba did promise herself that she will do what it takes to find herself a job only to prove it to Ammar that she is not less capable or beneath him. Saba obviously knows the reality behind Ammar’s opposition, it is purely his insecurity & jealousy but Saba obviously is not going to sit back & watch him rule her because of his petty reasons. Saba has also slowly started giving it back to Ammar & when she can not do that, she just walks away as if she is not allowing Ammar to insult her because this is what he enjoys the most. Saba’s promise of finding a job showed that she wanted to change the way things were rolling out in her life, which was good!

Saba’s father Faraz contacted Ammar to help him find a solution about his property dispute, which Ammar promised to help him about. This was obviously Ammar’s way of trying to burden Saba with another favour of his. The way Faraz’s tune changed & he started speaking against his own daughter was the worst scene of this episode. He of all the people should know Saba enough to not fall for Ammar’s lies but then, it seemed as if his property meant a lot to him, a little more than Saba as well.

Closing Thoughts – Job:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was good. This drama does not have something super new or unique to share but it seems that everything has settled & the execution has started to make a lot of sense. I think the first thing Sanam Baloch should do is fix her voice because at times she sounds like a chalk on a blackboard. The entire cast is performing really well but there isn’t anyone who is like extraordinarily outstanding. I wish there was more to the character that Anam Gohar is playing because she has been literally used as a filler in this drama which is a shame because after Yeh Raha Dil, she has proved that she can act well. Anyways, this drama surely has improved over the last few episodes but I wish I could say that about the dialogues because they continue to be quite mediocre. Opening Thoughts – Interesting:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was good as it showed the ray of hope making its way into Saba’s life in the form of Fakhir. Even though it is the beginning but it sure is going to have a huge impact in Saba’s life & that will be interesting to see. The direction of Khaas has surely improved & it is turning out to be a decent drama to tune to week after week.

Ammar Is Troubled But No One Can See:

I will say that Sarwat Nazeer deserves to be commended for coming up with such a difficult & complex character like Ammar. It is interesting to note how she has balanced his negativity with all of these positive traits that he carries on the surface because of which Saba finds it very hard to convey it to her family & friends about the issues she has with Ammar. It is like no one around Ammar can actually understand the problems he might be putting Saba through because on the surface he seems to be the most genuine, sincere, caring & harmless husband but the reality in front of Saba is totally different. It is because of the impression that Ammar has created in front of others, that Saba will have a hard time making everyone believe what he is actually like as no one will believe a word that she’d say. Since Ammar does so much for Saba financially like gifting her all those expensive gifts, he feels he is doing more than enough for Saba & she should be thankful to him for spoiling her with materialistic things. Ammar fails to see the problem in himself & that is why he feels that Saba is just ungrateful. It sure is commendable how the writer has created a balance in Ammar’s personality because it blurs all of the things that are wrong with him!

Ammar went out of the way for Faraz & the moment he dealt with everything, Faraz couldn’t stop praising Ammar, which means a liberal & supportive father like Faraz will also tell Saba to stay in this relationship. Faraz will obviously fail to see an issue with Ammar because of his impression management.

Saba has made up her mind that she is going to find a job & she landed herself an offer too but then she knows Ammar will give her a hard time. Ammar’s mother has started to speak in favour of Ammar quite a lot as even she thinks Saba doesn’t know how to make Ammar happy.

So, Fakhir got to meet Saba & he could clearly see & feel everything that Saba was going through. Fakhir being a sensitive person who is in touch with his emotions knew exactly what Ammar was putting Saba through, it was enough for Fakhir to meet them only once to understand their equation. Ammar continued to put Saba down in front of Fakhir & Saba was just infuriated. Fakhir left quite an impression on Saba, even though he didn’t try at all but considering the kind of situation Saba is in right now, even the subtlest of gestures are going to move her emotionally. Saba was taken aback by the sketch as it definitely came as a pleasant surprise. The very next unexpected meeting of Saba & Fakhir again made Saba realize that there was someone out there who could read her face & understand what she was going through. Fakhir didn’t try to impress Saba or anything, he was just being himself in front of her & that kind of forced Saba to think about him as well as the fact that he could actually understand her & her state of mind. I must say even though we all know that Saba & Faakhir will end up together, the way Faakhir made his way into Saba’s life was done convincingly. It could have looked forced or something but the writer made sure to not let that happen.

Closing Thoughts – Getting Better:

Overall, Khaas is surely getting better with each passing episode & because of more detailing the issues between Saba & Ammar are now coming across as serious issues & not self-created assumptions of Saba. Sanam Baloch at times seems too tired & lethargic, which actually adds more screen age to her. Also, I guess there was no need for Saba to dress up so much in the scene where she was only going to inform her friend about the job offer that she has got. I wonder how far she will take it when she will actually get the job. Anyways, all the actors are doing well. Also yes, my assumption was right, Nida likes Fakhir so I guess in the future we can totally see her turning into a typical nand when she will see Fakhir not reciprocating her feelings while being friendly with Saba. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Improvement:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was definitely better than the previous episodes. I like the subtlety with which the tension between Ammar & Saba was shown – this is the kind of execution was what I have been saying a Sarwat Nazeer script deserves. I am glad things were kept subtle but still everything was getting pretty obvious which was nice to see!

Saba Spoke Up:

Saba gave Ammar a taste of his own medicine when she made fun of him in front of his cousins but Ammar being Ammar couldn’t take it. The fact is that everything with Ammar is absolutely wrong & it is Saba who has to deal with it because other than her, everyone around Ammar feels he is this perfect human being without any flaws. Ammar confronted Saba but he sounded so irrational because of his double standards. Ammar wants Saba to put up with everything that he throws at her but when it comes to him, he won’t take anything.

In this episode, I liked the fact that Saba started voicing her disagreement & she started speaking up to Ammar. It obviously led to even more rift between the two but then again, it is important for Saba to get that message across to Ammar that she won’t settle for his mistreatment to make him feel better or superior. Ammar obviously has a lot of ingrained personality issues which slowly & steadily Saba is getting to see but everyone around him thinks everything about Ammar is perfectly fine. Another aspect which I liked in this episode was that Sonia started to see the problem in Ammar & she could sense that something was definitely not right. Even though Sonia didn’t put much mind to it but she could see how Ammar belittled Saba every chance he got. I hope later it is Sonia who knocks sense into him but it will be difficult since he is the kind of person who fails to see an issue within himself!

Saba scored a good GPA & Ammar made sure to bring her right back to the ground. Even in that moment Ammar couldn’t find it in his heart to just appreciate or be simply happy for Saba. It seems he is in this constant competition with Saba where he wants to prove it to her & everyone who thinks she is capable, that he is better than her. Ammar is not someone who’d build someone up in fact he believes in tearing others down to prove that he is superior in every way. Ammar not only stripped Saba of her happiness, he immediately ordered her to go to the kitchen, it was the most degrading way he could resort to in order to crush her dreams. Ammar has now made it an issue of his ego that he has to oppress Saba & not allow her to fulfil her dreams because it would mean that Saba will get to prove herself even professionally which Ammar won’t be able to handle. The way Ammar constantly kept telling everyone about how incapable Saba was basically a way to let her know & feed it to her that she can not do anything special in her life!

It is unfortunate that Ammar’s mother Kanwal expects & wants Saba to put up with Ammar’s atrocities in the name of marriage. Kanwal knows Ammar but she is either in denial or is just failing to accept the fact that she has failed at parenting Ammar the right way. Ammar’s father does seem reasonable but then it looks like he’s not got much say in the household matters. Sonia is now turning out to be a wise & mature person who was doing the damage control as she could see what Ammar was doing wasn’t right. This episode definitely made me change my mind about Sonia, hope out of all the people in the in laws, she turns into a support system for Saba.

Closing Thoughts – Better Execution:

This episode of Khaas was definitely better than the previous episodes. It is good to see a shift in Saba’s character. The relation that Saba shares with her father continues to be the highlight of this story. Saba’s mother on the other hand is turning out to be an eyesore. Acting of everyone has been good & the direction seemed better this time around may be because everything was kept subtle & not too overly explained, which was nice. Opening Thoughts – Hmmmm!

Ohkay so, who would’ve thought that in a drama named Khaas, the viewers will get to see so many scenes & conversations dedicated to such Aam things like Kheer & Bracelet. Bhai, it’s a known fact that Saba is never going to be happy with Ammar so chalo, we’ll tag along & see her frowning a bit more.

Wo Jo Tha Bohat Hi Aam:

So, for Saba it was a big deal that she made Kheer for the family. I never knew that in my reviewing career, I’ll have to discuss a scene or two revolving around Kheer. So anyways, Ammar had thought of surprising Saba because he knew that this was a special moment for her after their marriage, but then what Ammar couldn’t bring himself to do was appreciate her for her efforts & all that she did. Ammar is so used to the attention that he kind of feels annoyed when someone else becomes the center of attention, that is why when Ammar is alone with Saba, he is still a bit normal but when in crowd, he makes sure to do whatever it takes to grab the attention, even if it means he has to make fun of Saba in order to get what he wants.

Saba obviously felt hurt but then Ammar was unable to realize his mistake because even when he was saying such mean things, everyone around him pacified it & brushed it off saying that he was being funny. Ammar can not even understand what the issue is & why Saba reacts the way she does because in his mind, he is faultless. So, Ammar gifted Saba this expensive bracelet & wanted her to feel obliged over the favor Ammar did on her & not only that, he wanted to make sure that her parents know too. Even though Saba does not sugarcoat & she makes it very obvious to Ammar that she doesn’t like the demeaning stuff he says about her, he still does not understand & rather make it an issue all about himself that it is Saba who is over reacting & misunderstanding because he didn’t mean it that way!

In this entire episode, the only good thing was getting to know the fact that Saba’s father will be there to support her & most importantly, he will understand her reasons. I do not expect anything good from the Facebook obsessed mother of Saba because she would force Saba to make this marriage work due to the fear of announcing it on her Facebook that her daughter got divorced. Faraz did feel that Ammar’s attitude towards Saba was insulting & demeaning but he didn’t dwell on it too much for now!

Saba’s mother in law Kanwal also instructed her that she should & she had to put up with Ammar’s attitude in order to please him. Kanwal fails to see the issues with Ammar’s attitude that is why she kind of reminded Saba about all the favors that Ammar was doing for her in order to keep her happy. Kanwal also feels that Saba is having difficulties in understanding Ammar but that is only because she herself is unable to see that the root cause of all the issues is her son Ammar himself.

Well, the new entry Sonia has come to make Saba realize even more that her husband is not too sincere with her. All those conversations that Sonia & Ammar had with each other suggested that they were kind of comfortable with the idea of getting married but then Sonia had her priorities & meanwhile Ammar fell for Saba. Well, again, it is too obvious that Sonia has not been brought into the equation for no reason, I am sure when she will see how miserable Ammar is with Saba, she will propose to get married to him only to please him since the women in this entire family are sickly obsessed with Ammar & his greatness!?!

To be honest, as much as they have tried to establish the fact that Ammar is a nightmare of a husband & that he is narcissist, egoistic, rigid, difficult & all that jazz, which they sure have made a point, I still somehow fail to see anything khaas in Saba’s character too. I don’t find her lovable or special enough to feel for her or connect to her. So far, what I know about her is that she is over-sensitive (pointed out rightly by Ammar) & has post-wedding blues but other than that, what’s so khaas about her? I think in order to show how bad Ammar is, the team forgot to take note of how they wanted to etch out Saba’s character because so far she has nothing going for her except the fact that she is a victim of self-imposed bechargi!

Closing Thoughts – Advice For Sanam Baloch:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was not so khaas again. All the actors are doing alright. I still feel that the writer really chose a subject that kind of needed attention by showing us a man who seems ideal to everyone on the surface especially his family but deep down has so many issues, like the overall idea of this script is definitely nice but the execution has not been able to do justice to it. I feel the director went into too much explaining which kind of took away the seriousness it deserved. I feel the director should have left a few things unexplained, like left it on viewers’ imagination because while doing so much of explaining, he has made everything sound & look very childish & caricaturish. Sanam Baloch definitely should find a makeup artist that does justice to her beauty. I used to love her approach towards staying natural & not giving much importance to makeup back in the day but considering how everything is now HD & she is really into glamming herself up as she is playing the role of a newly wedded girl, she really needs a good makeup artist, or at least someone who does not add so much age to her on-screen. It is also unfortunate what incessant screaming in morning shows for years has done to her vocals. She should definitely go for a therapy as she makes it a bit tough to tolerate her dialogues. I so feel that this drama would’ve been really nice since Sarwat Nazeer has that skill of picking up simple plots & giving so much meaning to them but the director failed to do justice to the essence of the story. Hope this drama gets better but I don’t see that happening. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Not So Khaas:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was again just not so Khaas. My biggest nightmare is materializing & that is Sanam Baloch’s forlorn face that the viewers will have to see till the end, or probably till the time Faakhir will save her & bring happiness to her!

Saba Is Unhappy Bhai:

The more Saba got to know Ammar, the more she learned that they both had zero compatibility. Ammar is the kind of guy who just doesn’t know how to understand anyone. In his own mind, he is just so perfect that no one can really have any issues with him whereas those who are close to him exactly know about all of his weaknesses. This aspect has been portrayed & executed brilliantly by Team Khaas, I must say!

It is kind of unfortunate that they had to rely on such petty issues to show that Saba was having a hard time with Ammar. Also, I just don’t get where does that flare go in our heroines when they get married. They showed that Saba was actually setting the guy straight in the university when he tried to contact her so now ever since she has gotten married, why has she become so mazloom? Ammar says one thing & Saba takes it as an excuse to be upset & sad. Why can’t she just convey to him what she is thinking, this is how you make your marriage work & develop understanding in the initial stages. Saba has understood that Ammar is full of himself, he is a bit too rigid, so the least she can do is patiently try & work on him rather than becoming a victim of self-pity as if she is living in very unfavorable & tough circumstances!

So far, the only issue is that Saba has pretty much understood Ammar but she is unable to make him understand what her perspective of right & wrong is, which I don’t think is such something super difficult to be tackled. Saba tries to convey it to others what is wrong in her relationship but no one really gets what she is trying to say because all they see is how perfect & genteel Ammar is!

Ammar believes in impression management & he really knows how to ace it. He says & does what he knows will make everyone else feel what a nice person he is whereas the reality is completely opposite. Those who are really close to Ammar know what he actually is like, that is why Ammar’s friends also felt that they should talk to him about his attitude with Saba. Ammar’s mother did ask Saba but the very next moment she kind of passed a verdict about how her son was & how Saba should accept him with all of his weaknesses. As the episodes are passing by, they are only showing how this marriage is going to become messier & I am not sure if I’m thrilled about it to be honest!

Closing Thoughts – Precap Was Spot On:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was just alright with nothing new to its credit. Yes, the character of Nida seems to nice & it looks like she does feel for Saba but hasn’t really realized what Saba is actually going through, but then again, not sure if she will have an important role to play in Saba’s life in the future but for now she seems nice. Ali Rehman is surprisingly doing good as Ammar, like he is portraying all of his weaknesses with clarity. Sanam Baloch on the other hand is really not fitting the role of Saba, may be because the role itself is so average & has nothing special to offer, but there’s definitely that spark missing from her. I must say I laughed while watching the preview of the next episode where Ammar spoke about Saba’s utra hua muh, same feels my friend, same feels! Opening Thoughts – Predictable Story:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas took the story forward & established the set of ordeals that Saba will have to face in this marriage & all that she will have to put up with in the name of marriage. The story of Khaas seems pretty simple & straight forward – a girl after having her self-esteem crushed will then be rescued by a guy who will rebuild her confidence & make her feel special. The story is predictable but it still qualifies as a drama that can be tuned to, however, I am not sure how long I or the viewers will be able to put up with female protagonist’s frowned & forlorn face, it just gets to you!

Saba & Ammar Are Poles Apart:

So, Saba got married to Ammar & they both started getting to know each other. Even though everyone around Ammar & he himself knows how eager he was to get married to Saba because he liked her, Ammar is making sure to conceal it as he doesn’t want Saba to feel that she meant something to him. Ammar has casually brushed it off by saying that his family wanted him to get married so he chose to settle down but the truth is, he himself got stuck on Saba & couldn’t take her out of his mind.

Ammar is a clear case of narcissistic personality. He is self-absorbed & because he has always been the centre of attention, he has now started believing that only he deserves to be heard. Ammar happens to look like a completely normal & happy-go-lucky person but he actually is quite difficult & rigid. Ammar has this idea of everything in his mind & he can not bring himself to accept if something goes against what he has perceived it to be. Sarwat Nazeer has written a complex character & the director has tried his best to make all the layers of Ammar evident but it’s just that the overall feel & vibe of the drama is a little too commercial which kind of takes away the seriousness of the script & its concept.

So, Saba & Ammar got married & Ammar was just being himself, which was good to a point that he was not keeping anything filtered but then, it came to an extent that he started hurting Saba’s feelings. All the things that he said to Saba lost their meaning the moment he started nit-picking & shaming her for her features. Saba’s reaction seemed a bit too prolonged where she couldn’t take it out of her mind, which she actually could have. May be Saba is shown to be quite a sensitive person that is why she reacted this way but generally she was taking everything to her heart, a bit too early.

Ammar not only had an issue with Saba’s hands or hair, he also had a problem with the fact that Saba was opinionated & she dared mentioning what she felt. Ammar basically wants a robot who acts or behaves the way he wants too which obviously is going to suffocate Saba to no end. Saba could have dealt with Ammar’s obsession with beauty or met his standards but Ammar made it very difficult for her when he didn’t even realize that he was being disrespectful towards her in front of everyone as well. Ammar is bratty & Saba obviously is having issues but then everyone else thinks she has hit a jackpot because she has gotten married into a wealthy family. Saba’s sister is just as annoying as Ammar – especially with her comparisons & complaining.

Faakhir left after being heartbroken because he found out that Saba got married to Ammar, his best friend. I did get a feeling that Nida must be interested in Faakhir, but I hope not since she referred to him as Faakhir Bhai. I hope she takes him as a proper bhai. I feel after Ahsan Khan, Haroon Rashid is taking the role of being a naqaam aashiq of the industry but then in this drama he does have some hope because after Saba parts ways with Ammar, she will end up with Faakhir.

Closing Thoughts – Strictly Alright So Far:

Overall this episode of Khaas was again strictly alright. Even though Khaas is a script of Sarwat Nazeer, direction of Danish Nawaz, I feel Sanam Baloch shouldn’t have played the role of Saba because all this while I kept on drawing comparisons with the role she has played in her comeback drama Teri Raza. In that drama she also got married after getting pressurized, she was emotionally unsettled & unhappy in her marriage plus not to be forgotten the forlorn face she sported the entire drama. I feel any other actress could’ve played this role & it wouldn’t have made any difference on the overall drama. However, considering the body & kind of work Sanam Baloch has done in the past, she really should pick dramas that are different & characters that are challenging & substantial. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Time To Face The Consequences:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was interesting. It is nice to see Ammar & his side of the people facing the consequences of their wrongdoings. The writer has been successful in conveying the concept of ‘what goes around comes around’. Khaas has happened to be one such drama which has remained consistently interesting & engaging. Sarwat Nazeer definitely should take a bow for bringing such a complex, never-seen-before sort of a concept & not only doing justice to it but elaborating it in such a crystal clear manner. It is nice to see Saba’s mental & emotional transition as well. Danish Nawaz has proved himself as a director, it is good to see him directing such a script with such clarity because the story & script of Khaas was all about having the emotions conveyed loud & clear & achieving that was no easy feat, but Danish Nawaz succeeded in elaborating everything. Hats off!

Getting Served, What You Deserve:

So, Salma conveyed it to Ammar that she was done with him. Ammar & his family can live with this false sense of satisfaction that Salma didn’t deserve Ammar & they got lucky that she is finally out of his life, but the truth is, everything that Salma has said & done has left an impact, it has scarred them emotionally & the best part is, Salma has forced them to think about the fact that may be all of them were actually wrong. Ammar & his family are in denial, none of them is ready to accept that yes, Ammar has been unfair & he mistreated Saba. Ammar is constantly being reminded of the things Salma said to him, this is probably the first time in his life that he has gotten a reality check. A cold hard truth served to him that he is not ‘perfect’. For the first time ever, Ammar got to know that he is the reason behind his unsuccessful marriages & that he is not infallible.

Ammar’s chapter for Salma was pretty much done & dusted but it was unfortunate that her mother didn’t hold back in ruining Nida’s proposal. Obviously, you do get served what you deserve but Salma’s mother seemed like a hypocrite talking about the manipulation of the women in Ammar’s family whereas she herself was being the manipulator in this situation. This drama has perfectly shown how egoistic a human being can be & how it is so easy for everyone to be blind to their own faults & finding it very easy to be nitpicking others for their shortcomings. Salma didn’t care much, she was done with Ammar & she didn’t bother with whatever was going to happen with Nida afterwards.

Kanwal has for the longest time stayed ignorant of Ammar & his misbehavior. She has spent her entire motherhood in this false idea that she has raised a gentleman who can do nothing wrong. Even though Kanwal was an understanding mother-in-law to Saba who never stopped her from meeting her family & believed in giving her the space that she wanted but when it comes to being a mother, she was flawed & typical to believe that her son is entitled to mistreating women. Kanwal for the first time was forced to think about the things Salma said & the guilt of misjudging Saba surfaced too. Props to Sarwat Nazeer for showing the comparison between two daughters – Kanwal thought misjudging Saba’s character was her right but now she felt helpless when she could not stop people from gossiping about Nida being involved with Ammar’s friend. I like how they have shown that slowly & steadily, everyone is being faced with such situations where they are being forced to put things into perspective.

Nida’s wedding got called off & she was down but yes, she was the first one to say it out loud that this all came back to her because she was wrong in misjudging Saba. She was unfair to Saba & that she played a part in insinuating that Saba was cheating on Ammar. I really like Sonia’s character, her character is actually like a breath of fresh air. Even though she hardly gets the coverage & that is actually enough & strategic but it is an intelligent way of the writer & the director to put the message across because it does leave an impact. In the drama filled with women like Kanwal, Pupho, Nida, Sadaf & Samreen, it is so nice to see a girl like Sonia who doesn’t believe in being judgmental, she minds her own business, tells others to do that too, speaks her mind, is the voice of reason & most importantly, does not believe in having a negative thinking or a negative mindset. Sonia has had limited scenes but the message that she conveys definitely gets heard because again, this is Sarwat Nazeer’s non-preachy way of preaching something useful & important. Well Done!

Saba faced Ammar & she confidently put him into his right place. Ammar hadn’t even recovered from the bitter truth Salma said to his face & there came Saba with a completely changed personality – far more confident & fearless, someone who could not look into his eyes & show him that she was finally living her dream, with a guy Ammar looked down upon. Ammar never had imagined that he will ever get to see Saba like that. Saba was happy that she finally conquered her fears & that she didn’t hold back in giving Ammar a piece of her mind but oh well, one thing is definitely bothering me. I really don’t want them to give this story a tragic turn by killing the character of Fakhir. Let them live happily ever after. Fakhir continues to talk about him not being around Saba forever, which goes to show that Saba will be left alone? Now when I think of the OST ‘wo jo THA bohat hi Khaas’, is it about Fakhir’s character that he ‘was’ someone who came in Saba’s life to change her for better, then left & became someone from the past? Please don’t do this to us. They have shown Saba’s misery for a long long time, so they should end the drama that they both lived happily ever after. The dream that Fakhir had about meeting an accident is another dreadful hint about the fate his character might meet. Please don’t do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another thing worth mentioning about Saba & Fakhir’s relationship is how they have shown that when a couple shares the same mental wavelength & they have a lot of understanding, they don’t find it odd to defy the norms. In their relationship, Saba had always been passionate about working & doing a job, so Fakhir has helped her materialize her dream. Saba fell in love with Fakhir for the kind of person he is, that is why she has never once tried to change him or drive him to something that he is not too keen on. Fakhir is an artist, he likes being in his own shell, his own comfort zone, he paints, he creates, he is happy & that is why Saba is happy with him. I liked how they touched upon this subject slightly that Sadaf (being the unreasonable woman that she is) tried to ask Fakhir about his earning but Saba has it all figured out, she does not have any demands & she is totally fine with working. Fakhir wants Saba to work for herself & not to provide a living for him & that is why now he is thinking on those lines because he has realized that he has a responsibility as well. I like how they both are not too pushy & are just going with the flow – accepting each other & just being happy!

The best scene of this episode was Ammar & Fakhir’s confrontation. It was so amusing where Ammar was fabricating lies in front of Fakhir & both Fakhir & Saba couldn’t stop smirking because they could totally see how Ammar was making a fool of himself. I mean after so much has happened in Ammar’s life, he still hasn’t learnt his lesson. May be he needs more reality checks or something huge to change him forever. I actually want to see Ammar’s suffering as in after him realizing the fact that he is the one solely responsible for being left alone. Right now he is being forced to think about everything but he still is in denial, this showed when he said those mean things to Fakhir, yes, I want to see how he will react when he will actually realize & hold himself responsible!

I don’t really think Farah’s track should’ve evolved this way. Kamran seemed to be a very rational & wise person so I guess they could’ve shown him having a detailed conversation with Farah making her understand how Ammar has been wrong. I feel in this game of ‘karma’ Farah was unnecessarily dragged. Just because she didn’t speak up for Saba, didn’t mean that her husband should’ve left her for someone else & for the sake of children. This entire drama has been so unpredictable & non-typical that I feel this typical treatment given to Farah’s track is hard to accept & doesn’t really go well with the overall theme of the drama. They could’ve easily shown Farah & Kamran leading a normal life with Farah actually understanding her husband’s point of view & then seeing Saba in a different light. Farah on her own could totally see Ammar being wrong but she never had the courage to say that to either Ammar or Kanwal, so yes, I don’t really think she should’ve paid the price of staying quiet this way. Not a convincing turn in Farah’s track. However yes, having said that, I do get agitated with Farah’s silence. I do feel she should talk to Kanwal & tell her the truth that she failed as a mother & that she raised a narcissist who is now getting what he deserves.

Closing Thoughts – Please Let It Be a Happy Ending:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was really interesting but yes, even though I had a good laugh at Fakhir/Ammar’s scene, I am kind of feeling heavy-hearted thinking about Fakhir’s dream. Please don’t do this to the viewers of Khaas who have loved this drama & have invested so much time in it. It is absolutely FINE with give a drama a happy ending. When I saw Ammar telling lies to Fakhir, I thought may be his dream was symbolic & that may be Ammar will create a rift between Fakhir & Saba but hearing him talk about not being around Saba for all her life is ringing the alarms. Let’s see. All the actors have been beyond brilliant & totally convincing in playing their roles. This drama is still a treat, let’s hope it doesn’t turn into a sour candy. Opening Thoughts – Ammar’s Undoing:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was a good one because it showed how things were now changing in Ammar’s life when everything else was settling in Saba’s. It’s payback time! So far, Ammar has not really understood but yes, at times he is actually finding himself thinking about Saba, even when he doesn’t want to. Ammar still hasn’t learnt his lesson because in his mind, he can never be wrong but it is good that people around him have started speaking about his shortcomings with honesty!

Ammar, Kanwal & Pupho Need To Know Better:

Salma did come back but she came back on her own terms. Salma actually thought that she will be able to convince Ammar but she underestimated him. Both Salma & Ammar are two very stubborn people, so obviously, both of them have let go of their ego at least one time for each other or to save this marriage but they only got disappointment in return. Salma assumed that Ammar will appreciate the fact that she came back & yes, Ammar did welcome her nicely but that was only because he didn’t want her to create more issues. Ammar is not sure what he wants from this marriage, he is not even putting much effort. When it came to Saba, yes, Ammar did love her & he always went out of the way for her but the thing Saba wanted the most was what he was incapable of giving it to her, which was respect & love. Salma is sorted, she doesn’t really care much with what Ammar can give to her because she knows that she will eventually get what she wants. Salma has clearly told Ammar that she wants a separate house & she also wants Ammar to stop flirting with other girls. Just like Saba, Salma is also demanding but Saba put in a lot more effort to convince Ammar that she deserves what she asks for but when it comes to Salma, she doesn’t believe in making compromises & this is what the difference is. Ammar is the same, yes for Saba he actually wanted to make her happy but on his own terms however when it comes to Salma, he expects her to also do the heavy-lifting that Saba used to do, so that he can in return do the things that will make Salma happy.

I really think Farah should speak up, because so far she has actually understood that the problem lies in Ammar & that he is solely responsible for his marriages falling apart but she hasn’t been able to tell the truth to Kanwal. I so wish someone lets Kanwal know that she should stop seeing Ammar as the victim because he is not. Kanwal still hasn’t realized that Ammar is at fault & that her son is responsible for failing at marriage. Kanwal still holds Saba accountable & now she has started having issues with Salma. Not only that, Kanwal has also decided that the moment Ammar will divorce Salma, she will get him married to Sonia. I must say, I loved the confrontation scene where Salma told Kanwal off & held her responsible for poorly upbringing her son. The dialogues in this drama are spot on & they are thought-provoking as well. All this while, I was hoping that Farah will say a thing or two to Kanwal but it turned out to be Salma who told her the reality. Saud did allow Ammar to find himself a new place for Salma but Ammar is someone who does not believe in heavy-lifting & this is the only reason why he is not keen on settling with Salma in a new house, otherwise he would’ve done it without her even saying this to him. Saud acted rationally because he wanted Ammar to not just give up in his marriage yet again, but Kanwalf continued to brew a storm in his mind & the best solution she came up with was Ammar’s marriage to Sonia.

I totally agree with Salma & her opinions about the ladies of Ammar’s family. Especially now when I saw Ammar’s phupho acting like an actual phupho trying to fix his marriage with Sonia & also Ammar’s mother Kanwal. These ladies really need to know better & I wish someone gives them a reality check – all the things that Salma said were definitely not enough for Kanwal to actually understand the reality. These ladies, considering the age that they’re at, must be having a whole lot of experience, so why is it that they are unable to actually see that Ammar has issues & that he has failed at being a good husband. Salma is a different person but yes, the way Ammar treated Saba should be enough for everyone to understand. Both the ladies are behaving typically where they think getting Ammar married, rather keeping him in marriage with one girl after another is the fix to all of his issues, whereas 2 failed marriages should be a reason enough for them to actually consider telling Ammar to sort his mental & personality issues first. They see Ammar as a saint & this is ridiculous!

Sonia once again came back as a voice of reason, the way she told Nida off & subtly stopped her from prying too much into her personal life was perfect. They actually have hinted a lot of times in Khaas that such prying & probing is uncalled for & it is absolutely unnecessary. Sonia is an outsider & this is the reason why from someone with a distant angle & a different perspective can totally see how wrong all these people are & how they have ruined their lives themselves. Sonia told Nida that it was alright to move on & that not everyone is meant to get the person they love because they might not be compatible. Nida still hasn’t been able to get over the fact that Fakhir rejected her, whereas Sonia tried to make her understand that she should now move on.

Salma has made up her mind, she is ready to divorce Ammar because she has realized that Sajid loved her more. It is amusing but yes, it is the truth. Salma got married to Ammar but she was unable to get Sajid out of her mind. At least she had the courage to admit that she was considering getting married to Sajid, unlike Ammar who was flirting around & thinking he was entitled to it, while expecting his wife to put up with his antics. Salma has taught Ammar a lesson that he really can not expect his wife to tolerate his wrongdoings because he is not special. Most of this episode went by in the flashbacks, of both past & current happenings but I want to hear Ammar’s thoughts. I hope we get to see him having a conversation with himself, realizing & reflecting upon things. For the first time, Ammar did recall the things Saba said to him, it was like he was slowly putting the pieces together & understanding that all this was happening because he hurt Saba, but still, this is something that he has thought about himself. I want to see him at the stage where he will openly admit his mistakes & admit in front of everyone how wrong he was!

Saba & Fakhir’s Sweet Relationship:

Fakhir told Saba that she should pursue her dream of doing a job. Saba could not believe that Fakhir not only encouraged her but also believed in the fact that her dreams were worthy of being respected. Saba has slowly & steadily started to feel that she is an individual who can do what she wants, she has the freedom & more than that, she has the support of her life partner. Fakhir & Saba’s scenes, though few were very very sweet & done really well. They are having a good time, they are establishing their relationship on the basis of mutual respect & understanding. Fakhir wants to be the best version of himself for Saba, not only because he knows the mental trauma that she has been through, but also because he genuinely loves her!

Closing Thoughts – Interesting:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was once again very interesting. I want to see how Ammar will come to terms with the fact that he is the one who has been at fault all this while. I also want to see Kanwal realizing how wrong she has been in thinking that her son can never do anything wrong. I am looking forward to Saba & Ammar’s interaction. It is interesting to see how Ammar has started getting speechless, he really is unsure of how he should respond or react to things, it is like he is losing the confidence he had in himself & his personality. Salma surely has shaken Ammar & she came as his undoing. Let’s see what happens next. This episode definitely belonged to Hira Tareen, she really has not only given Salma’s character the right treatment but she has also succeeded in making this kind of character not look annoying but real. Salma has been unapologetic & she has always been vocal about what she wants, to the point that she has always stayed true to herself & not cared about others. Yes, such characters are always perceived wrong in our dramas but in comparison to Ammar, she sure has made his true colors come out. Ali Rehman also has done a phenomenal job as Ammar, I always enjoy seeing his minute & subtle expressions. The direction is one of the strongest aspects of this drama & the script is brilliant. Opening Thoughts – Faraz Got Away Easily:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was to the point & sweet. Saba’s life has changed for the better, which is something even she is slowly getting used to. To be honest, as much as I have loved this drama, I am not too convinced with the clean chit Faraz & Sadaf got in literally 2 – 3 scenes, whereas they covered their selfishness over a lot of episodes. I so wish they had shown them falling flat & regretting their selfish behavior for a couple of weeks too. I know, they wanted to get done with this aspect to move the story forward to more important stage, which is Saba & Fakhir’s relationship & Saba’s faith being restored but still, I really feel Faraz should’ve learnt his lesson the hard way to actually wake up & realize how wrong he was. It was like the heavy lifting was done by someone else & all he had to do was just accept that yes he was wrong. I have loved Khaas for what it is but this aspect should’ve been handled with a little more elaboration & detailing!

Saba & Fakhir Are Finally Married:

Faraz realized that he was wrong & not only that, he wanted to make things right. Faraz knew that he owed an apology to Fakhir & his aunt, that is why he decided to go & see them in person to say whatever was burdening him. Faraz got a call from his colleague who let him know that the proposal he was considering for Saba was based on lies, which was convincing but the way Faraz blindly believed Anum & didn’t even think things through made him look quite unwise & immature. It was like Faraz woke up one fine day & he realized that he was being unfair. I wish they had shown Faraz speaking to Saba in detail, listening to all that he wanted to say & then apologizing to her. Yes, they did show it in the last episode but it all seemed rushed. Faraz is always in a hurry it seems, he was quick in his decision of getting Saba married to Ammar, then he was quick to judge Saba & Fakhir, he was quick to fix Saba’s marriage again & now he was quick to believe that everything that Anum said was right. Sadaf is another story, she was a negligent & emotionally absent mother who really didn’t even bother feeling the pain that Saba went through. Sadaf was too busy thinking & feeling for herself, her eldest daughter & Faraz, thinking that in this entire scenario, only these 3 people were entitled to feel a certain way & the one who was actually going through a tough time was the culprit & deserved to be treated as an outcast. It’s been a while that I have seen such emotionally absent parents in a Pakistani drama!

Ammar couldn’t believe when he heard Nida telling him that Fakhir & Saba were getting married. Salma’s absence did push Ammar to think about certain things & that is why, even though he didn’t make it obvious, he kind of vouched for Saba that she could not cheat on him, like he had this much faith in her or may be, let’s just say that he knew her but because he was blinded by his ego, he chose to declare the otherwise. Ammar just wanted to make things ugly, this is something that he feeds on. He actually didn’t care what Fakhir or Saba were going through, but he just wanted to create a scene because he also thought he was entitled to rule Saba’s life even after she was not a part of his life anymore. Faraz finally heard the truth from Ammar as well as Fakhir & it made it easier for him to further believed that all the things Fakhir have said were right & that Ammar was not someone who deserved to be trusted this much. Ammar left without saying anything to Faraz but I wish he had humiliated him further, because Faraz deserved it for being such a miserable father to Saba!

Fakhir & Saba got married & this was the start of a new chapter in Saba’s life. Fakhir was just being himself, he is nice, compassionate, gentle & most importantly, he’s in love with Saba. Saba already knew what Fakhir was like but still, she was finding it hard to accept that a marriage could be this smooth & beautiful. Yes, the comparisons did seem out of the blue but then they were very convincing & showed Saba’s state of mind perfectly. She has moved on but she obviously has been scarred for life, that is why she was scared & couldn’t take all that Ammar has said about her, out of her mind but then Fakhir came as a breath of fresh air, who not only showed her that he loved her, but also showed her why she deserved to be loved. Fakhir loves Saba & this is what matters to him. It was nice to see Fakhir being such a good husband to Saba, who was giving her all the freedom to just be herself because he knew this will bring out the best in Saba. Fakhir has started to prove that all the things he said to her were not because he wanted to impress her, rather this is what he firmly believes in. It was nice to see Fakhir sharing his thoughts about how he perceives women & their respect. Fakhir comes from a dysfunctional family but it has been nicely shown that he has learnt it the hard way & he has made a conscious effort to not repeat the mistakes that his father did because he first hand saw what it did to his mother. This is the reason why Fakhir actually understands what Saba has gone through & he doesn’t even want to hear it from her because he can totally feel her pain & relate to it. This aspect & this side of Fakhir’s personality has been beautifully conveyed as well. Saba was happy, for her all of this was unbelievable but still, she was getting to know that Fakhir only believed in seeing her happy, which was super sweet. Those dialogues about chaand were cheesy but they were conveyed in such a cute manner, where both newly weds were complimenting each other, showing how much they love & cherish what they have!

Salma decided to come back. Ammar made it quite obvious to Salma that he didn’t care about her at all, this is the reason why all this while, Ammar was least bothered about his wife gone & on the other hand, Salma was restless. Salma’s mother was the voice of reason, I thought she would tell Salma not to mend her ways but she didn’t because she wants Salma to work on this marriage as she understands the kind of person Ammar is. I loved that particular scene where the moment Salma walked in, Ammar’s entire body language changed. This shows that despite not wanting to, Ammar has ended up giving that edge to Salma to control him emotionally. Ammar is carefree & he thinks he is perfect but Salma has shown him that he is not. It is interesting to see how just by being herself, Salma ends up putting Ammar in an awkward position, something that Ammar would’ve never imagined!

Closing Thoughts – Loving It:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was super Khaas too. Loving the direction & acting. However, I am not sure why from the last few episodes, Natasha’s scenes are merged, more like pasted in between the scenes to make it look like she was a part of the scenario whereas it is obvious that she was not. May be Natasha couldn’t be there when the actual shooting happened so they later shot her scenes & edited them in. Javeria ended up attending the wedding but she did not bother meeting Faraz before & clarifying Saba’s image. I had a giggle when Javeria clicked Fakhir & Saba’s pictures because then she obviously posted them on her social media for Ammar to see & get jealous, lol! Javeria is actually on Ammar’s case, which is nice. The preview of the next episode was quite interesting. Salma is going to ruin Ammar’s life & she will get back with Sajid, by getting married to Ammar, Salma has also realized that Sajid was a better husband than Ammar. Really looking forward to Ammar & Saba’s interaction too. I am so glad they didn’t just end the drama by showing Saba finding herself an ideal husband, in fact they are not only covering Saba & Fakhir’s relationship but also Ammar’s suffering which will eventually result in him realizing that he was wrong in mistreating Saba. Opening Thoughts – Toxic Relationships:

Ohkay so, this was yet another episode of Khaas that did not disappoint. However, the last scene of this episode had me rolling my eyes but I will come to that later. The story is still intense & interesting. While watching this episode of Khaas, I once again found myself praising the writer for bringing such a subject to the table which hasn’t been spoken about in any of our dramas before. Yes, we have seen toxic relationships in our dramas a lot of times but to show a character like Ammar & then elaborate his personality traits in such a clean manner is praise-worthy. I really like Khaas for the fact that this drama focuses on such relationships or spouses who do not show any signs of dysfunction but the torture is purely mental & emotional, which no one actually understands or can relate to. This is the reason why it took Saba so long to explain what she has been through while being married to a man like Ammar!

So Far So Good:

Ammar thinks his life is finally settled, he has scored himself a trophy wife, his life is complete that is why he is out to focus on things which he should not be concerned with in the first place. Ammar actually has forgotten what Salma is putting him through & may be because Salma left, Ammar got the time to get distracted from his personal problems, that is why he felt entitled to poke his nose in Saba & Fakhir’s lives like it was his business. Ammar thinks he still has to prove something to Saba & because he can’t even fathom the idea of seeing Saba & Fakhir happy together, he decided to disturb them once again. Even though Ammar has divorced Saba but he still thinks he owns her or may be because he owned her in the past, she still belongs to him & that he gets to decide what she should & shouldn’t be doing in her life. Ammar will hate to see Saba getting married to a guy who Ammar deemed as a lowlife, someone he looked down upon, so for Saba to get married to him & give him the status that Ammar once had in the past is actually an insult to an egoistic man like him. This is the exact reason why Ammar not only spoke to Saba but also decided to speak to Faraz, the character that I find loathsome, even more than Ammar!

Saba continued to bear the brunt of her divorce, as if it wasn’t obvious with her family’s attitude that now she also got to hear them speak against her & blame her for everything. While watching Sadaf & Samreen having a conversation about Saba & her divorce made me feel that Saba didn’t need enemies in her life, because her family was perfectly doing the honors for her. Saba was once again forced to think about her past & feel helpless at the thought that her family still deemed her as the culprit & solely responsible for this divorce.

Salma’s mother can totally sense that Ammar is not the kind of guy who will do what it takes to keep Salma happy. She can see that Ammar is so full of himself that he doesn’t know how to entertain Salma & her ego. The scene where Salma called Ammar & he smirked was done so well, Ammar knew that he won & it showed how two egoistic people were now bound in a relationship & were trying hard to work things out. Salma’s mother has surely assessed Ammar rightly, that is why she has started to knock some sense into Salma because she can totally see Salma getting hurt & disappointed when Ammar will not meet her expectations or does what she says!

Fakhir proved to Saba that he was serious about her & that he was a man of his word. Fakhir knew it quite well that Faraz will not only mistreat him but his aunt as well, still he decided to meet him in a hope that he will be able to convince Saba’s father. That entire scene seemed like a bad editing job where the three actors were shot separately & then their dialogues were combined to make it look like a one scene. Anyways, later Faraz felt a little uneasy after he misbehaved with Fakhir & his aunt, he could totally feel that Fakhir was not mucking around. Fakhir & Saba’s conversations were nicely done. Fakhir has let Saba know the kind of life partner he will be for Saba. Also, I am glad even if it is still in a theory but they have repeatedly shown Saba talking about finding a job. Saba knows her potential & even before she got married to Ammar, she dreamt of doing a job for herself, so even after going through so much, Saba hasn’t given up on her dream. Yes, the memories attached to the idea of her job are bitter but with Fakhir’s emotional support, she will be able to forget all of that & focus on her career.

Anum’s role in this entire situation was not only unexpected but perfect too. To be honest, all this while I had completely forgotten about Anum & the fact that she could vouch for Fakhir but she finally did. To be honest, I am still not sure why Javeria hasn’t shown up at Saba’s place to explain everything to her parents? What is she waiting for? As much as I like Javeria when she puts Ammar in his right place & continues to give him all sorts of reality checks, I am not quite understanding why she is stalling & not meeting Saba’s parents? After Javeria found out that Fakhir had proposed, she should’ve hurried to see Saba’s family so that she can help Fakhir get his message across & tell Faraz about the kind of person Ammar actually is. I am glad that with Anum coming back in the picture, Fakhir’s side of the story was made clear but I wish someone does tell Faraz about the kind of manipulative liar Ammar actually is.

Closing Thoughts – Ping Pong Ball:

This episode of Khaas was once again Khaas. So far I haven’t had any complaints with this drama but I will say the last scene did leave me a little disappointed, only because I felt Faraz got away too easily. I swear the tough time that he gave Saba & the hell he put his daughter through, I wanted to see him getting humiliated by Ammar to come back to his senses. To be honest, as much as Anum’s explanation was apt, I did feel it wasn’t sooooo convincing to change rigid & stubborn Faraz’s perspective just so quickly. I know that Faraz was embarrassed & ashamed that he was about to get Saba married to the wrong person but still, it didn’t seem too convincing that the moment Anum came, Faraz immediately believed her. I think they should’ve also shown Javeria & Anum talking to Faraz back to back & both their testimonies opening his eyes properly because the way he behaved made him look immature.

Oh yes, I remember at that moment, when I saw Faraz changing his attitude & mindset quickly, I called Faraz a ping pong ball & now looking back at the way he has behaved over the last few episodes & this one in particular, he sure is a ping pong ball who fluctuates & bounces around a bit too quickly. Ping pong balls also do not have a brain of their own, they just follow the hit they get so yes, Faraz is a ping pong ball. I mean I find it amusing that he believes anything that anyone says without putting much thought to it. Faraz hated Saba because he believed Ammar, he also chose to oppose Fakhir’s proposal because Ammar said so, didn’t bother believing all the things that Saba had said & now all of a sudden, Anum came & he believed her without wasting a second? What a ping pong ball! Anyways, I am glad that Saba finally got a chance to explain her position to Faraz but still I so don’t want them to end the drama without Faraz & Sadaf ever knowing what Ammar used to say about them or the kind of person he actually is.

Kanwal was disappointed at the fact that both the daughters in law that she got were not ideal, I thought why she hasn’t ever wondered that her own son could be the culprit? I am glad that Farah has finally started speaking in favor of Saba, not once but repeatedly. I think Farah will make sure to convince everyone that Saba actually was nice & it was Ammar who did not cherish her or treat her the way she deserved to be treated. Opening Thoughts – Realistic & Convincing:

Ohkay so, this was yet another interesting episode of Khaas. Just when I thought things were going on the similar lines as shown in the previous episode, the ending note absolutely changed the entire mood and came as such a pleasant surprise. It is actually quite frustrating to see how Saba’s parents are reacting. They have shown a reality and that too in such a realistic & convincing manner that it kinds of get to me. I want to see Saba happy but I also hope that we get to see Saba & Fakhir sharing a fulfilling life too & not just their union in the last few seconds of the very last episode, which usually happens in most of our dramas.

Salma Is Teaching Ammar A Lesson:

Salma was not only making an impression on Ammar’s family & relatives, but she was also slowly & steadily letting Ammar know the kind of temperament she has. Salma is self-sufficient & emotionally independent woman, she actually didn’t get married to Ammar because she wanted to rely on him, for her it was another adventure & also because her parents wanted her to get married so she chose Ammar based on the relationship they had in the past. Salma is not the kind of person who will be keen to meet Ammar’s expectations, rather she’ll keep on bombarding him with the expectations she has & would force him to meet all of them. Ammar has now started to understand that he doesn’t stand a chance in front of Salma & that things are absolutely different to what they seemed or what he expected. Ammar hasn’t actually come to a full realization but gradually he is also understanding that Salma is quite a rigid & difficult person that he’ll have to deal with. Ammar thought by getting married to a beautiful & smart woman like Salma, he will be able to show the world that he was still capable of finding such a match but he actually didn’t really put much thought into the fact that this entire package comes with a territory!

Salma has made up her mind right from the beginning. She can be termed as selfish but she is someone who is sorted & knows what she wants from her life. Salma is not ready to budge or compromise because she knows that this will set the tone for the rest of her life, therefore she is making a point clear right from the beginning. Ammar has always been hesitant about this entire seperate home idea but the way he informed his mother made it look like he was ready to give it a go & didn’t mind the idea. Ammar made it look like that he was helpless & that he had no choice but to fulfill what Salma was asking in order to make this marriage work. Even though Kanwal couldn’t even imagine it, I kind of liked seeing Ammar in a state of confusion & helplessness. This is just the beginning & I am keen to see Ammar failing at his game slowly. Ammar has always loved making other look bad but Salma is someone who just doesn’t care & this is exactly what she is doing now too. Salma’s mother tries to make her understand that she shouldn’t be so reckless but then she is also a victim of greed that she herself has fed to Salma, therefore she can not do much. The way Salma’s mother speaks about Salma’s ex-husband Sajid goes to show that he was actually a loyal husband who did everything to please Salma but then, Salma still couldn’t help finding faults in him, so she ended up getting divorced.

Saba’s parents are one of the worst set of parents I have seen in a long time. They are not only annoying but the way they are treating Saba like an outcast is absolutely disgusting & ridiculous. I actually thought that Faraz will end up allowing Saba to share her side of the story but he has made up his mind that everything that Ammar said was the truth. I find it mind-boggling that Faraz is choosing to trust someone else over his own daughter that he has raised with all those values. Why is it that Faraz has not even once thought that Saba grew up seeing him treating Sadaf with utmost respect & care, so may be Ammar was at fault & not Saba? I found it sickening that just when Saba spoke about doing a job, her mother reminded her of Iddat but when it came to her proposal, she wasn’t even ready to wait for Saba’s Iddat to be over? It is unfortunate the kind of pressure that is being put on Saba but what’s worse is that everyone expects her to put up with their expectations because they don’t want to take a stand for Saba & are too scared of being questioned by people around. Saba’s elder sister Samreen is another gone-case who dislikes her husband & his mother, but is too worried about the kind of questions they are going to ask. As much as I like the fact that Mehak is showing support to Saba, I wish they had shown Mehak to be a girl probably a couple of years younger than Saba because seeing such a young child speaking about such heavy topics that too which so much depth & intricacy doesn’t really make sense & also doesn’t really go with her character. Mehak seems to be too young to be guiding Saba or talking to her about ‘love’ or the ‘telepathy of people in love’. Yes, younger siblings are a bit mature for their age because they grow up listening to all these mature conversations around them but I still find Mehak too young for all of this!

Saba ended up succumbing to the pressures & she said yes to the proposal that was a no match for her. It shows how sick & tired Saba is with the way her parents & elder sister are treating her. Saba has pretty much realized that no matter what she will say, they are not going to believe her & they will not try to understand her perspective. They all are bent on imposing their ideas & thoughts on Saba but no one is even bothered to even think what Saba is going through. I will say I can not stand Saba’s father Faraz anymore. His weird expressions & the resentment on his face that he has for Saba were off-putting. I am sure they will show a scene or two probably near the end where Faraz will realize his mistake but I don’t think that will be a redemption enough. I am glad that Faraz is choosing to trusting Ammar more, because he is shallow but I wish someone would tell Faraz about the things Ammar used to say about him, lol!

The Proposal:

So, Fakhir made an entry in Saba’s home out of nowhere & things escalated quickly. It is actually quite funny that Saba’s parents are not even considering Fakhir as a potential partner of Saba because they are too scared that the rumors will become true & everyone will then believe that Saba actually was having an affair with Fakhir? This is ridiculous. Anyways, Fakhir just came to show support to Saba because he could feel that she was having a hard time. Saba & Fakhir’s conversation was absolutely sweet. I actually didn’t expect that Fakhir will propose to Saba so early & that too so casually but he did. Fakhir is honest & feels a lot for Saba, he has always been in love with her & he hated seeing Saba go through all of that, so now he thought it was the right time to let her know how he feels. Saba didn’t even mind the things Fakhir said, yes, she was a bit skeptical again for the fact that people will talk but then because she knows that Fakhir understands her so much & that they have a mental & emotional compatibility, Saba immediately started thinking on those lines. Saba knows that her parents won’t agree but it was sweet of Fakhir to give her the confidence that he will eventually convince them. I am so glad that they have finally shifted the focus on Saba & Fakhir’s track too. Plus this entire scenario was such a good change. We have seen Ammar & Salma’s negative track so it was kind of nice to see the fairytale track of Saba & Fakhir. I have always liked the ease & flow with which Fakhir & Saba’s relationship has developed, that is why I liked that they kept the tone same when it came to the proposal too.

Closing Thoughts – Brilliant:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was Khaas yet again. I am really glad that things are moving forward & now Saba & Fakhir are getting the attention as well. As much as I am keen to hear Ammar admit & confess that Saba was right & he was at fault in mistreating her, I am also keen to see Faraz accepting the fact that Fakhir is the right choice for Saba. I hope I get to see all of this soon but I also wish we get to see more of Saba & Fakhir’s relationship & their track unfold in detailed manner. Just like we are seeing how Salma is giving Ammar a hard time, I want to see Saba & Fakhir coming together & showing everyone how relationships based on love & respect flourish & make people happy. Danish Nawaz has proved himself & has done complete justice to his role as a director. It definitely is Danish Nawaz’s vision that Khaas is what it is, even the way the actors are performing is also because the director has made sure to get that certain kind of acting from them. All the actors definitely are doing a great job, be it main actors or the supporting ones. Just perfect. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Realistic Portrayal:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas focused on showing the contrast between how their lives shape up when a couple gets divorced. Khaas drama has turned out to be Khaas especially because of the way everything has been shown so realistically. Be it emotions or situations or reactions, every single thing in this drama depicts reality and this is why Khaas is doing so well in terms of popularity. Khaas hits the right notes and because of the realistic portrayal, this story and this drama has resonated with a huge number of audience.

Saba & Ammar Got a Different Treatment:

Ammar decided to divorce Saba and not only that, he had made up his mind to get married to Salma as soon as possible too. After the divorce, they showed how hard it was for Saba to face everything whereas how easy it was for Ammar to not only move on but get married. This entire episode was dedicated to the different treatments both Saba and Ammar were getting at the hands of their families. Saba, despite being the victim in this situation was forced to explain herself again & again. Even though Saba continued to explain & justify herself, nothing that she said was being taken seriously by her parents because they had pretty much made up their minds that it was Saba who was at fault & it was Saba who was responsible for this divorce & not Ammar. This episode of Khaas showed how a girl who gets divorced usually faces the brunt even if she is not at fault. Saba had tried everything to save her marriage but still, she has fallen short of her responsibilities as per her parents.

Ammar easily moved on & no one said a word. In fact, it was perfectly shown how Ammar was not only getting all the love & support but his demands were being facilitated by everyone around him too. Although Ammar is quite manipulative & he loves to always have a clean slate in front of others but even if he wasn’t this conniving, he still would’ve walked away scot-free because in situations like these, men are hardly blamed. Ammar made sure to not leave a loose end that will make anyone catch onto something. This is the reason why everyone still believes that Ammar was a loyal husband & it was Saba who was not only ungrateful but also cheated on her husband!

Javeria & Fakhir were worried for Saba. It was good to see that both Javeria & Fakhir despite being Ammar’s friends were not only different from him, but were also genuinely concerned for Saba too. Javeria at first didn’t hurry to help Saba over but it was good to see it weighing on her heart because she could totally feel that Saba was being put in an awkward position because of Javeria’s silence. Even though Javeria will testify in favor of Saba but I hardly doubt that her parents will believe any of that, especially after seeing Fakhir accompanying Javeria to their place. Saba does feel she is left alone but she has no idea that there are still a few people who are concerned for her & her well-being.

The reminiscent scene was done nicely, where Ammar was happily getting married, Saba was still thinking about the things he said to her right when their married life started. Saba has turned into a culprit in front of her parents & it is unfortunate that she is being reminded of it repeatedly. I actually expected better from Faraz who happens to be such an understanding & loving husband, but his attitude with Saba after all that she has been through is disgusting.

Well well well, Ammar got married to Salma & she started setting everything straight right from the beginning. Ammar shared every single detail with Salma about how unhappy he was with Saba & how undeserving she was of his love & companionship, Salma has gotten this wrong idea that by getting married to Ammar, she has done a favor to him. Salma believes that she & Saba do not have any comparison, but she isn’t wrong to feel that way because it was Ammar who fed it to her. Salma is not wrong, it is just the way she is, she is an only child, spoiled & wealthy, plus she knows she has her parents’ back always, therefore she doesn’t believe in taking any pressures. Ammar in his mind actually thought that Salma will be in awe of him & will see him as her savior who got married to her after her divorce but quite clearly, Salma let Ammar know that she wasn’t over the moon at what Ammar did for her. For Salma, she has just gotten married to the guy she liked & she believes he should be thankful that she accepted his proposal, something that Ammar always expected from Saba. It was interesting to see how Ammar was just being left speechless one instance after another because he just didn’t know how to deal with Salma. Ammar has already started feeling suffocated & as much as he wants things to stay smooth, Ammar is slowly realizing that Salma won’t allow him that luxury!

Salma left quite an impression on Ammar’s family too & they had nothing to say. Soon enough, they will also realize that Ammar made the wrong decision & they all will end up comparing Salma & Saba. I don’t blame Salma in this entire situation at all, she is a difficult & rigid person but she is just like that – unapologetically self-centered & selfish as well. Now it will be interesting to see how she will treat Ammar & how he will feel the suffocation that he put Saba through.

Closing Thoughts – Perfect:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was again perfect. I am really glad that this drama has been consistently good for the most part. Even though so many episodes have passed but it just keeps on getting better & better. I so want to see Saba having some kind of support from her parents but then, even if they will change her attitude towards her, their image won’t change. All the actors have done a brilliant job. Hira Tareen was definitely the star of this episode, it was really nice to see her giving attitude to Ammar. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Saba Has Made Up Her Mind:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas covered the moment where Saba lost her patience with Ammar for the very last time. Saba has had enough & now, there’s nothing that Ammar’d say or do that will affect her anymore because she is totally done with him & for good. This episode of Khaas also showed how Saba was getting pressurized by her family & everyone was of the opinion that Saba was in the wrong.

Saba Is Done With Ammar:

Ammar once again made it all about Saba, in front of his own parents & Saba’s parents too. Ammar is manipulative but more than that he is very smart. This one has to be given to Ammar that he knows how to deal with people the way they like to be dealt with, but that too only when he feels that the other person won’t ever question his image or judgment. With Saba, Ammar couldn’t do that because he learnt it in the initial days of their marriage that Saba was not smitten by him as much as he wanted to, plus she was not someone who’d buy the lies that Ammar told her. Saba demanded respect & Ammar could not give that to her. For Ammar, the thing that triggered him against Saba the most was the fact that Saba could see through him & not only that, she’d call him out on those things too. Anyhow, Ammar let Saba’s father Faraz know for the very last time that he was thinking of divorcing Saba, not because he wanted to, but only because this is what Saba wanted. Ammar has once again played his cards well. Ammar knows that Faraz trusts him more than he trusts his own daughter Saba, that is why for the very last time, he yet again planted a seed of doubt in Faraz’s heart against Saba & walked away scot-free!

Saba’s sister Samreen & her husband depicted the usual & typical first reaction family members have towards their sister or daughter getting divorced. They all held Saba responsible, not for her failing marriage but also for Faraz’s condition too. Saba’s sister did try to hide everything but then her husband couldn’t stop judging Saba & her character. It was like he got an excuse to blame his wife & her entire family for what was happening because he was kind of tired listening to the stories based on assumptions about the ideal couple both Saba & Ammar were, plus the picture perfect life that they were leading together.

Saba spoke to Ammar for the last time & more than that, she got to give him a piece of her mind too. Saba also got to see who was the girl Ammar was getting married to & she could totally see that this marriage between the two was going to be a disaster. Ammar could not see Saba in her eyes, as he himself knows that he is wrong but is just getting away with everything by using her as a scapegoat because Saba is not as clever or manipulative as Ammar is. Ammar thinks things will work out for him but he has no idea what he is going to get into.

On Ammar’s family side, it was nice to see Farah’s husband being the only voice of reason. At least he was honest enough to let everyone know that Saba couldn’t be this wrong & she could not do something as horrendous as cheating on her husband. Even Ammar’s father Saud was kind of trying to connect the dots that may be because Ammar wanted to get married to Salma (something that Saba was accusing him of), he created this entire scenario to get rid of Saba, but then again, no one in the family can doubt Ammar because the ladies such as Kanwal & Ammar’s pupho are fully convinced that Ammar is infallible & that he is victim in this situation because his marriage fell apart. I am keen to see the reality that Salma will show to everyone in this family. Javeria wanted to help Saba but her hands were tied & even then Saba understood her awkward position but still she hoped that Javeria would at least once speak to her parents to let them know that Saba was with her & not with Fakhir.

Closing Thoughts – Simple Story Executed Brilliantly:

I am glad that the story has moved forward & that Ammar is going to free Saba from this cage. I obviously don’t have a lot of expectations from Faraz, but for once, it would be nice to see him at least believing his own daughter & not a guy like Ammar who has only lied to him blatantly, time & again. It is interesting to see how simple story has been executed with so much complexity & that there is so much depth & dimension in every single situation. Khaas surely is a very unique & interesting drama to tune to & it is amazing to see that it is still going strong. I must say, Ali Rehman has given Ammar’s character a perfect treatment & I don’t think any other actor could’ve done justice to this twisted character the way he has. Ali Rehman has made Ammar’s character very convincing. Hira Tareen is perfect as Salma, someone who is totally selfish & self-centered. Sanam Baloch, Haroon Shahid & all the other supporting actors have done a great job too. I think the credit definitely goes to the director Danish Nawaz for extracting this kind of acting from all the actors & giving these characters & their personalities so much clarity on-screen. Opening Thoughts – Move The Story Forward Please:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas showed how things further deteriorated between Saba & Ammar, not that things were ever good or decent between them but now, Saba is all alone & she was trying to take a break from this chaos, to collect her thoughts. I am actually looking forward to the next phase of Saba & Ammar’s track because a lot of time has been given to the kind of relationship they have shared & how everyone is finding it hard to believe Saba’s side of the story.

Saba Has Nowhere To Go:

Faraz not only proved that he was a coward, but she also showcased how tiny brained he was, where he didn’t even have the courage to confront or talk to Ammar. Faraz made the final decision of disowning Saba & he left telling her that she didn’t stand a chance to go back to her father’s home. Faraz is probably one of the worst fatherly figures ever written in the history of Pakistani dramas. To not believe is one thing but to totally burn the bridges & letting you daughter know that she is on her own & won’t get any emotional support is the worst thing a parent can do to their child. Faraz proved that he didn’t really mean the things he said to Saba because in his heart, he still felt that Saba was guilty of not doing justice to this relationship & by demanding a lot from Ammar in terms of emotions & respect!

Saba did the right thing by moving out of that toxic environment, it was much needed for her to just be away from Ammar. Saba has openly told Ammar for the first time that she hates him but Ammar really thought he had won this one because he felt this sense of pride & authority over Saba that she had nowhere to go & that he now owned her completely. Saba obviously has no idea what she is going to do or how she will convince her family but then, she is not going to stop because she has done everything to save this marriage but now when it is slipping away, she will let everyone know about that too. WIth parents like Faraz & Sadaf, Saba will have a lot of repeated convincing to do. Saba’s sister Samreen is another person who is going to create issues for Saba & would do everything to overrule whatever Saba will say because she also doesn’t want to become answerable to her in-laws, due to her own selfish reasons. They surely have shown it in the right manner how a girl, who is already going through so much, is framed by her family & is told to stay in a toxic relationship for the sake of face-saving.

Saba has found another true friend in the form of Javeria. Javeria not only understands Saba’s perspective, but she is well aware of all the things that Ammar has been upto, that is why Javeria is not only supporting Saba but she is also not being judgmental. Javeria’s husband was a wild-card entry & he behaved like a wild animal too. I totally feel that scene of Javeria’s husband pestering Saba could’ve been skipped because it just didn’t make any sense. Before I saw that scene, I was appreciating the effortlessness & the realness of the situations like the conversation between Javeria & her husband seemed so genuine, but to see her husband later judge Saba & make a pass at her was so unnecessary to show.

Ammar barged into Fakhir’s home & he confirmed Fakhir’s worst fears that Saba was in trouble. Even though Ammar has heard Nida’s testimony & he himself saw Fakhir’s phone calls on Saba’s phone but he still didn’t actually paid heed to this entire situation like he should have because in all honesty, even he knows in his heart that Saba is not capable of doing such a thing. Ammar is just using this entire situation to his benefit, so that he could get married to Salma. Ammar thinks he has scored a jackpot where without even revealing what was in his heart, he will be able to achieve that by maligning Saba’s reputation but he has no idea how all of this will come back at him later!

Closing Thoughts – Change In Scenario Much Needed:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was interesting but then again, I would love to see story moving forward with Ammar getting married to Salma & Saba finding a path of her own in her life. Everything else about this drama has been perfect, from direction to acting to realness in the situations & even dialogues. Sanam Baloch really needs to get her vocal chords checked & fixed because she sounds like chalk on a blackboard at times & it is very hard to even understand what she is saying. In the scene where Saba was having a conversation with Javeria after coming to her place, I could barely understand what Sanam Baloch said. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Full of Surprises:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was full of surprises, some pleasant ones and some not so pleasant. This drama surely has grabbed the interest of the audience for all the right reasons because it is showing how healthy looking relationships can be so toxic & mentally drain the people involved in it. This subject has never really been explored in the past in such a detailed manner, this is the reason why Khaas has appealed to the masses & has garnered so much of popularity, despite the initial episodes not hitting the right note.

The Confrontation:

The best aspect of this episode for sure was Saba taking her parents into confidence & confiding in them for the first time. Saba actually has had enough. Saba has tried everything to make this marriage work but Ammar has not really understood Saba’s worth & importance in his life. Saba assured her parents that she has done everything but still this marriage is not working & she had no more reasons to hold onto this relationship which was draining her & taking away the confidence her parents had instilled in her. The first surprise of this episode surely was Faraz’s unexpected reaction to Saba’s claims. I actually thought that just like before, he will tell her that she was wrong but he didn’t & in fact he didn’t let Saba down by telling her that she still had his support. Faraz took me by surprise because for once, he did not question Saba & instead told her that he believed her. This was enough for Saba at that moment because this is what she wanted to hear after being mentally & emotionally abused by Ammar for such a long time.

Nida finally spoke about Saba & Fakhir’s alleged affair in front of her family. She couldn’t contain herself because she is unable to deal with the fact that Fakhir rejected her because of his love for a married woman. Nida was going to speak against Saba eventually so it was good that she finally did but unfortunately, the timing went against Saba one more time. The entire confrontation scene was done brilliantly with everyone not only being involved but also getting enough chance to speak whatever was in their hearts. Saba did speak about Salma & Ammar but just like Saba knew, Ammar manipulated the entire situation & turned it against Saba. Saba has understood the way Ammar’s mind works but still, she has not been able to counter that because she is not cunning like Ammar. Saba also had no idea that her friendship with Fakhir will be questioned out of nowhere, that is why she was caught off guard & didn’t really know how she should respond. Saba has been upfront & honest, she just speaks about things the way she perceives them & she actually expects that others will believe her but she is always proven wrong. Saba thought instead of questioning her, Ammar’s parents will question him about Salma but that didn’t happen because Saba’s honesty was overruled by Ammar’s lies.

Faraz did come to support Saba & question Ammar but after all that he heard, he left Saba alone to deal with this messy situation on her own. This was again something that was expected of Faraz but I still didn’t expect because I thought after his I’ll-be-there-for-you speech, he will stand by his daughter instead of chickening out, but he proved me wrong. Faraz was ashamed & actually thought that Saba could do something like that, Saba could actually cheat on Ammar. This goes to show that even though he feels for Saba, he still thinks Ammar is in the right. Faraz didn’t question Ammar about Salma but instead believed that Saba was actually involved with Fakhir, that is why he asked Kanwal to pardon his daughter’s mistake? What kind of a father is he? Faraz is not helpless, he can support Saba & Saba also can support herself even if she gets divorced but they have showcased the mentality of parents in a very convincing manner, where just for the sake of it, they don’t want their daughters to get divorced & instead expect them to stay in toxic relationships their whole lives. Saba has suffered enough & the only thing she expected from her father especially was to understand her but he proved that she was asking for too much.

Fakhir did feel something was not right but he couldn’t put a finger on it. It is good that the confrontation took place because it would now change the dynamics drastically. It was kind of stagnant seeing Saba & Ammar fight all the time so now it’s high time that the scenario changes. Ammar has promised Salma that he will get married to her, so it will be good to see Ammar paying the price for treating Saba with so much disrespect. Salma is just fascinated with the idea of getting married to Ammar but it is pretty obvious that Salma will not accept Ammar’s demeaning ways. She is not the kind who will put up with Ammar’s misbehavior.

Closing Thoughts – Brilliant Direction:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was very happening. I am relieved that the confrontation took place & things will change. I am keen to see how Ammar & Salma’s relationship will move forward, because they both are just wrongly fascinated but their bubble will burst soon. Everyone acted brilliantly in this episode as well. The direction of Khaas has turned out to be one of the strongest aspects of this drama. Danish Nawaz really has proved that he is a fine director & he can tackle serious scripts better than the comic ones. Danish Nawaz should take more scripts like these & direct them just the way he has directed Khaas. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – A Little Slow:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas again showed the mental pressure & torture that Saba was dealing with. Even though I really appreciate the time they have taken to build things up & to show the emotions as well as the mental state of Saba in detail, I do feel that the story has not been making much progress. I feel things should move on now & take the story to the next level where Saba is finally speaking the truth & not just tolerating everything to make this dying relationship work!

Saba Is Now Thinking of Sharing Her Secret:

Fakhir has always been the voice of reason for Saba. He says everything that Saba wants & needs to hear in order to keep fighting. Fakhir is a wise person that is why he has never once trying to sway Saba’s feelings. He is just being a truthful friend to her who uplifts her & encourages her to push through. Saba was heartbroken when she got to know that Salma & Ammar were going to get married & that is when Fakhir told her to speak to her parents & let them know everything. Saba knows that this is not going to be easy. Saba is the only person who has seen a 3D angle of this relationship, she knows Ammar’s perspective, she also knows about her parents’ perspective too, that is why even though she wants to let everyone know her truth, she dreads it. Over the period of time, as much as Ammar has tortured Saba, he has formed this amazing image of his in front of Saba’s parents because he knows that this is something that will eventually benefit him. Ammar is a control freak in other words, he likes to control other’s perspective about himself, he likes to control what other people think about him too that is why despite showing his true colors to Saba, he has painted such a different picture of his in front of her parents.

Saba had made up her mind that she was going to let her parents know but before that happened, she was once again reminded of the fact that this was not going to be easy. Saba knows that convincing her parents to accept the reality would be something absolutely difficult because they were so sure of the fact that Ammar could never do something wrong. Saba once again got a lecture on how she should do everything to please Ammar & that how lucky she was to have a husband like him. Saba now tried to take the responsibility of her father, that was her subtle way of distracting him & once again reminding him that Ammar was not going to be there for him forever. Saba tried to make Faraz understand that he should rely on her, that was kind of the first step that Saba took on her own, she was keen to know whether her father still trusted her enough to be able to rely on her but she was disappointed to see how Faraz was so emotionally attached to Ammar. This makes things far more difficult for Saba yet again!

Nida spoke to Sonia & once again, Sonia tried to change her perspective, she tried to show her the other side of the picture but for Nida, it is obviously hard to accept because she knows Fakhir’s side of the story. Nida might give Saba some benefit of doubt but she is finding it hard to do that considering she knows that Fakhir is in love with her & Saba has been in contact with him. Nida feels Saba is cheating on Ammar, which obviously is something that will soon surface once the news of Ammar & Salma’s marriage will break on every one. Saba will accuse A,mar of cheating & that is when Nida will hold her accountable for something similar too.

Ammar got another ego boost when he got to know that Salma was so eager to get married to him. This is exactly what Ammar yearns for, he likes being wanted, he likes being longed for & this is exactly what he didn’t get after his marriage to Saba because as he got to know her, he learned that she was a confident, complete & emotionally stable person who was not looking for a knight in shining armour like him. Ammar only became frustrated when he saw that Saba didn’t believe in following his footsteps & instead she wanted to walk by his side. For now, Ammar does think that Salma wants to be rescued, he thinks after her divorce, she is lonely & she will cherish the favor Ammar will do on her by getting married to her but I can’t wait to see when & how his bubble will burst!

Closing Thoughts – Preview Gave Hope:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was interesting but I really wish to see the story moving forward & I am glad that the preview of the next episode gave me some hope. I do hope that Saba’s parents at least hear her out & let her complete before lecturing her about Ammar & his rights as a husband. Let’s see if that happens. Oh, another interesting scene was Saba & Nida’s confrontation. Saba couldn’t really connect the dots about what Nida was trying to say but she was shocked. Saba obviously does not even think about the things that people perceive about her that is why she ends up finding herself in a spotlight over & over again. Opening Thoughts – Special:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was superb. It was intense, it was just perfectly executed. There are so many emotions and so many underlying thoughts of the characters which have been conveyed brilliantly. Khaas is actually living up to its name & is turning out to be quite Khaas. I will definitely take my words back & I will say that this drama is not aam anymore. I am really glad that the writer chose such a complex subject & wrote it in such a simple manner. The director Danish Nawaz has done wonders to the script of Sarwat Nazeer & this drama just keeps on getting better & better!

Saba Is All Alone:

Saba once again found herself in a deep pit. Ammar once again put her in a tight spot & made her look like a culprit in front of her father. Saba has not once said anything to anyone about Ammar, she has dealt with this entire baggage herself so far. Saba did speak to Ammar’s parents but that too was her desperate attempt to save this marriage. Saba has not even said anything but she is being constantly reminded by everyone around her that it is she who is wrong. It is her fault that she sees faults in Ammar. Saba didn’t even say a thing but her father was yet another reminder to her that she was all alone in this battle & that she will not find any support from anywhere whatsoever. Saba was once again told to put up with everything in the name of marriage & not only that, she was clearly told that she was wrong even if she was being slightly irritated with Ammar. Saba has actually understood that she is going to lose in an attempt of making people believe that Ammar was not as ideal as he has posed to be.

Salma has done what she came in contact with Ammar for. She has finally proposed because she has seen that he is not only unhappy, but he is there for her all the time. Salma knows that Ammar is the kind of person who will not back out, only to prove himself. Salma is divorced & she sees Ammar as a perfect “option” to settle down once again. Ammar has also welcomed Salma with open arms & he has made it obvious to her right from the beginning that his wife holds no importance in his life, that is why Salma got the edge & the courage to propose marriage to Ammar.

So, Nida was shattered & she tried yet again but was returned without a hope. Nida thought all that she found out was enough of a shock for her but she had no idea who the person it was that Fakhir was in love with. Nida tried really hard to make Fakhir love her but she failed. It is at times interesting to see similarities between Ammar & Nida, even though Nida is still naive & innocent but at times she does remind that she is Ammar’s sister after all. She can be just as rude or cold as him but still, she is nice. It is one of the strengths of this drama that the writer has added so many shades in all the characters, they all seem well-rounded & well-etched out.

Saba knows she has no one to talk to, that is why she once again relied on Fakhir. Fakhir is just being there for Saba, he listens to her, advises her & then, he lets her know that she is not wrong. This is the only thing Saba needs to hear at this moment to get going & to face everything that Ammar is putting her through. Saba just takes Fakhir as a friend & she has no idea that he has feelings for her but now Nida knows. So, Nida finally found out that Fakhir is in love with her sister in law & Ammar’s wife Saba. That scene was so intense, like right from the beginning when Nida steps in Fakhir’s home, that is where it all started at & it was done so so well, everything, every angle, even the background music was apt. I actually thought Nida will create a havoc but she stayed silent, may be she wants to know from Saba or she wants to inform Ammar. This thing will obviously turn against Saba. Nida will make an issue & she will support Ammar in his decision of marrying Salma because Nida will then say that if Ammar was cheating on Saba, so was Saba cheating on Ammar too.

Saba & Ammar had yet another fight & Ammar once again put her down. Saba is done getting belittled & even though she fights, it has been realistically shown that Ammar’s words keep on scarring her. So much so that Saba has slowly & steadily started to feel that may be what Ammar says about her could be right & there could a possibility behind her being mentally unstable. It is one of the best aspects of this drama where it is being shown that the words carry so much of value & they actually can scar you so much. Ammar’s demeaning words have not only hurt Saba but they have shattered her confidence, they have literally changed her entire personality but still, no one understands her ordeal.

Closing Thoughts – Brilliant Performances:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was brilliantly executed. I must say both Ali Rehman & Sanam Baloch were beyond brilliant in this episode especially. Sanam Baloch has definitely redeemed herself as an actor in this drama & this episode especially. The scene where Saba spoke to Fakhir while crying was brilliantly acted by Sanam Baloch. Ali Rehman is on a whole new level of comfort in Ammar’s character, I am sure no one else could’ve done this role better than Ali Rehman. It is good to see that Ali Rehman got to showcase his acting skills & he has done a wonderful job too. Haroon Shahid & Anam Gohar are doing a great job too. Even though Anam Gohar still seems a little awkward at times while delivering dialogues, it still goes with her innocent character. Hira Tareen has given a perfect treatment to Salma’s character. Danish Nawaz has directed Khaas perfectly. This sure is a very special drama. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Interesting:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was a bit on the slower side but it did show how disloyalty & insincerity is the last thing one wants to see in a marriage. It is interesting how the writer has shown that two perfectly fine people can at times not shape a good life together because they are not on the same mental wavelength. The writing of Khaas has been very intelligent & this script is written beautifully. It has given attention to those issues which are never probably discussed because such problems are hard to explain, but the one going through it all knows what it is like being in this kind of a relationship.

Saba Let Ammar Know Her Decision:

Saba found out about Ammar & Salma. Saba decided to speak to Ammar about it but as usual, Ammar showed her that she didn’t hold any value or importance in his life because he didn’t bother coming back when Saba asked him to. Saba made up her mind that she had to do something about it by either speaking to Ammar or his parents. It is interesting to see that everyone blames Saba for everything but no one sees how hard she struggles to make this marriage work. Ammar has successfully painted a picture of Saba in front of everyone that she has an attitude problem, but has never once, like a man accepted his own shortcomings. Saba let Ammar know that this was something she will never approve of. Saba told Ammar clearly that she will not sit back & let him continue with cheating on her but then Ammar once again let her know that no one will believe her. Saba’s finality did shake Ammar a bit, he never expected that respect, loyalty & love mattered so much to Saba that she was ready to give up on all the luxuries because of those things. Saba let Ammar know clearly that these expensive gifts were basically a bait that he used to keep her mouth shut but she wasn’t going to take it anymore.

Saba spoke to Ammar’s parents. It was good to see that at least AMmar’s father knew that Saba was right. Ammar’s father tried to make Kanwal understand that Ammar is not the kind of a person she’d want for Nida herself. At least Saba seemed a bit relieved that someone in this family understood her predicament. Kanwal is blind to her son’s faults, she thinks AMmar is an ideal husband & Saba is just ungrateful but she is being biased & totally unjust in dealing with Saba. Farah has started seeing the problems but she has never once addressed them, neither in front of Kanwal nor in front of Saba but it has been shown subtely that ever since Saba’s miscarriage, Farah has started feeling for Saba & she does understand that being in a relationship with a man like Ammar is mentally taxing on her!

Nida decided to take her likeness for Fakhir one step ahead. She confessed & got rejected. Nida’s feelings have always been innocent & she confessed innocently & immaturely too but then again, she got bitter after the rejection & that is going to cloud her judgment. Nida won’t be able to differentiate between right & wrong from now on because all she understands is that Fakhir rejected her because of some girl named Saba. NIda has vowed that she will find out who Saba is to sntach Fakhir away from her, which means Saba is in trouble & she has no idea. Obviously, there’s nothing from Saba’s side but Nida has already sensed that Fakhir is in love with this girl & when she will find out it is her sister in law Saba, she won’t hold back & put an entire blame on her.

Saba once again spoke to Fakhir. She knows that of all the people, he understands the unspoken. Saba does not want to, but she finds herself drawn to Fakhir every time things get a bit too dense for her to tackle. Saba only relies on Fakhir for emotional support but for Fakhir, Saba means so much more but she has no idea. It was interesting to see how Ammar was now taking everything that Saba said to his ego. He could not believe that Saba threatened to leave him, this was something that further drove her towards Salma. Ammar is egoistic & he will do everything to let Saba know that she can not order him around. Ammar was obviously not thinking on those lines but since Salma initiated & Saba warned him, Ammar will now do the wrong. Sarwat Nazeer has written Ammar’s character brilliantly, he has so many layers & so many emotions which make it a treat to watch this character.

Closing Thoughts – Nicely Executed:

Overall, this episode was really nicely done. It is unfortunate that Saba is left alone & even when she will start complaining about Ammar openly, no one will understand her perspective. Saba’s family is not going to supportive too & that will obviously put Saba in a difficult situation too but she will fight for it. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Very Interesting:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was again very interesting but didn’t make much of a progress in the entire story. However, the episode did end on such a note which was probably going to be one of the defining moments of Saba & Ammar’s relationship. I am impressed that the drama that did not make much sense in the beginning has now turned out to be such an interesting story where such problems are being shed light upon which are always or often taken very lightly in most of the cases. The credit once again goes to none other than Sarwat Nazeer for picking up a complicated yet simple plot and turning it into such a brilliant story because these things need to get addressed too. I am glad that even though this drama is about mental & emotional abuse, the director has not made it totally on those lines, rather has balanced it out perfectly. This is what I love about Sarwat Nazeer scripts, they are never preachy or one-dimensional & even very serious subjects are always tackled in such a brilliant manner.

Ammar Is Cheating On Saba:

Nida was trying hard to get to understand Fakhir a little more. She also tried hard to leave an impression on him, which would result in him getting impressed with her but Nida being young doesn’t understand that one-sided liking or love does not mean that you are going to have a mental compatibility with the person you like. Nida hasn’t actually understood that she is not someone who can make Fakhir happy. Nida is nice, she is innocent & she is clean-hearted but she is not someone who can make Fakhir love her. After spending time with Fakhir, Nida has started to see that he is pretty serious & reserved, he doesn’t talk much, so not sure why is she still trying to chase after him. It is sad that such a nice girl like Nida will soon get behan-zoned but then, this will obviously turn ugly & put Saba in trouble because Nida will blame Saba eventually.

Saba was trying to make things work with Ammar, she was at least a little happy that after the accident, Ammar has changed. Saba thought that she could do with this kind of behavior of Ammar where he wasn’t demeaning or insulting her continuously but she had no idea that things changed for a reason. Ammar has become emotionally invested in Salma, therefore he is trying to keep Saba happy so that she doesn’t really question him much.

Salma has started to meet Ammar a bit frequently. Ammar likes the attention that he gets from Salma & even though they both are not giving words to their feelings, they both actually can sense that they still like each other. Ammar actually has made such contacts that get him out of complicated situations in an unconventional way. Ammar dealt with Faraz’s property dispute too & now it was made clear how he did that. Ammar framed Sajid & made sure that he is gone for good. Ammar actually told Salma that he was not going to let go off him easily, firstly because Sajid assaulted him & secondly because he obviously had to get Salma out of that situation to make an impression on her.

The most interesting part of this episode was Javeria’s call to Saba. Javeria knew that this would disturb Saba’s marital life a lot but then she could not see Ammar cheating on Saba. Javeria knew exactly what is happening between Ammar & Salma, that is why she made sure to let Saba know before it is too late. It was nicely shown that Javeria didn’t want to put Ammar in such a position because he is her friend too eventually but because she saw the kind of person Salma is, Javeria had no reason to not tell Saba. Javeria was insulted by Salma & she realized that Ammar was cheating on Saba because of a self-absorbed person like Salma, this is what pushed Javeria to have a conversation with Saba to let her know the bitter truth. Saba had already pleaded in front of Ammar that she could not share him with anyone, especially his ex-girlfriend but Ammar made it very clear to her that he won’t stop meeting Salma. It was good that Javeria’s call came after Saba had this conversation with Ammar because it immediately put things into perspective for her. Nida also felt a little strange that Fakhir was being very friendly & frank with Saba, this did put Saba in a little awkward situation but she covered up. Nida will eventually find out that Fakhir has feelings for Saba or may be that he was in contact with her & then she will report it to Ammar obviously.

Closing Thoughts – Well Executed:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was again very interestingly executed. I have said this before but I will mention it again, I really like how the feelings of all the characters are surfacing for each other in such an effortless & decent manner. Saba thinks about Fakhir here & there but then that’s all there’s to it. She has realized that Fakhir understands her that is what has affected her emotionally. Nida is trying hard to let Fakhir know what she feels but she is too shy & even then, her feelings seem genuine & her attempt of coming closer to Fakhir, innocent & not desperate. Salma & Ammar obviously are on another level but still, even they have not openly spoken about what they feel for each other. This drama is really nice. All the actors have fitted their characters perfectly. Waiting for the next episode. Oh! I must say, after watching the preview of the next episode, I realized why I enjoyed this episode so much, it was because there was no scene of Faraz in this one. He will show up with his annoying approach of not disturbing Saba in the next episode. How odd is that he doesn’t even believe in checking up upon his daughter. Opening Thoughts – Interesting:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was again very interesting. It showed the transition of Saba in a very convincing manner where she was trying to come out of the thoughts of her loss & trying to give her marriage another chance. Sarwat Nazeer has done it once again, she has picked up a very  simple story-line & has turned it into something actually very interesting because personality clash & lack of respect are damaging factors in any relationship & people find it hard to understand them, but this is what the writer has showed that such problems do exist & they not only consume the people involved, but also affect the relationship negatively.

Saba Is Giving This Relationship Her All:

Saba has made sure to do everything to make her marriage work. She has put her mind, heart & soul into this relationship & even though people around her blame her for not giving Ammar the kind of respect he deserves, Saba is putting in a lot of effort. Saba has never once thought of putting an end to this relationship because she genuinely wants things to work between her & her husband. Yes, Saba has a lot to complain about, Ammar has given her a lot of reasons to do that but she has never once thought of walking out of this marriage or escaping the tortures Ammar put her through. Saba has kind of understood that this is how her relationship is, this is what Ammar is like & she is trying her best to at times mend his ways or at times compromise. Everyone has pretty much made us their mind about Saba that she has problems with Ammar but no one has even once thought about the fact that Ammar must be giving Saba some reasons to feel that way.

Nida has decided to take a step closer to Fakhir & start a conversation with him. It was interesting how Nida decided to use Fakhir’s skill & craft to her advantage, I like how they have kept her feelings for Fakhir very decent & innocent. Even though Nida is keen to be with Fakhir because she genuinely likes him but there hasn’t ever been such a moment where the viewers were made to feel that she was being desperate. Nida is innocent, her feelings for Fakhir & the way she expresses them is all very innocent too. Nida did pick up on a fact that Fakhir was in contact with a girl named Saba but she kind of didn’t really seem satisfied with his explanation, obviously she likes him therefore she is possessive about him too.

Saba was confiding in Fakhir, she felt that there was at least one such person who was not judging her or telling her that she had hit a jackpot by getting married to a guy like Ammar. Fakhir was just there for Saba because he knew that she needed nothing but just some support & someone who’d listen to her quietly. Saba was again seen struggling, she wanted to vent out but then she felt guilty about it too. I loved this aspect of Saba’s ordeal where she wanted to let it out of her system to find her sanity back but then she also felt bad about the fact that she was talking behind Ammar’s back. This alone shows that Saba is ready to do everything to make this marriage work & even though she knows that Ammar puts her through so much, she is still not comfortable with the idea of talking ill about him. Ammar as well as everyone around Saba has made her feel that way, they all want her to always feel guilty & indebted to Ammar.

Well, another revelation was made in this episode that Salma & Ammar were not just university friends but they were in a relationship back in the day. Salma is tired of her ex-husband & that is why she now regrets breaking up with Ammar. Salma is so consumed in her own problems that she is not even thinking for a second that these meetings could give Ammar a wrong message & that Ammar is giving her way too much time, whereas he should be with his wife. Ammar got caught but he covered his lies up in front of Saba. Ammar’s friends are also tired of his attitude & behavior but they choose not to say anything to him because they have accepted him the way he is but it is good that his female friend has started being concerned about Saba’s well-being as she knows that Ammar is not only insincere to her but is also such a difficult person to be with.

Saba decided to come out of her depression & move on. Ammar’s pupho helped put things into perspective for Saba but then all of the things she said basically revolved around the notion that Saba should do everything to please Ammar, where she should not prioritize herself but put Ammar first because then only she will prove to be a good wife. Saba decided to give it a go but she has no idea that Ammar is not worth the effort. He is not worth her trust, her loyalty, her guilt, any of the emotions she feels thinking she is wronging or betraying him. After the incident, Ammar just decided to treat Saba nicely but then he continued to be involved with Salma too. Ammar is conniving, he knows what Saba wants – his appreciation & some kind words, so he gave it to her only so that she doesn’t grow suspicious or doubts his intentions ever.

Closing Thoughts – Quality Entertainment:

Overall, this episode of Khaas was again done very nicely. I like how this entire drama is all about reading between the lines, understanding the unsaid words & unstated emotions. I like how everything has shown to be coming from a good place & how one thing is leading to another. Even though this drama does show that Saba is distressed but the way she is fighting to make things work is nicely shown too. I am really glad that Khaas has turned out to be a quality drama & I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Opening Thoughts – Brilliant:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was well-directed & everything unfolded in a brilliant manner. It’s the simplest of details that can add so much depth to a situation, this is what Sarwat Nazeer excels in & props to the director for that attention to detail which has actually made Khaas worthwhile. Also, it is getting quite interesting to explore the characters of Saba & especially Ammar, it all is being brilliantly done!

Saba Has Hit The Rock Bottom:

Saba scored a golden opportunity of proving Ammar wrong by getting a job at his firm & Ammar couldn’t take it. For Ammar it was a slap on his ego because he wanted to make sure Saba obliges to his orders. Ammar doesn’t want Saba to do anything because that gave him the upper hand over her & to the world, Ammar could prove that his wife was nothing without his favors, she didn’t have an identity of her own. Saba’s job was basically against the image that Ammar had created & the impression he wanted to have on others that Ammar was taking care of Saba in such a way that she didn’t need to do anything. Controlling Saba actually made Ammar feel powerful & because Saba took that power away from him, Ammar couldn’t handle it!

Saba was dragged down yet again. She was made to feel like she was nothing & she did the wrong thing yet again. Saba decided to pour her heart out & she was faced with a bitter truth that she was just being ungrateful because Ammar was nothing but an ideal husband to her. Saba has no idea how everything has been going against her & she will learn it slowly & steadily. Facing constant humiliation in the name of marriage, losing a child & being blamed for pursuing her dream, this is the worst phase of Saba’s life but unfortunately, no one around her will ever understand!

Saba lost her child & Ammar was guilty that the way he manhandled her must’ve also been one of the contributing factors but then after seeing how Kanwal was speaking against Saba & making an issue out of the fact that Saba hid her pregnancy from them, Ammar felt at ease. That particular emotion of guilt that Ammar felt was portrayed brilliantly by Ali Rehman, like it was so obvious that he was feeling a little uneasy about what Saba was going through but because he thinks he makes no mistakes, he didn’t own it. Fakhir’s call on Saba’s phone is also going to create a problem for her later on because in Ammar’s family, Nida is a witness of the fact that Saba was in touch with Fakhir over phone calls. Right now it did not occur to Ammar but later, he will also use that against Saba!

Saba’s father Faraz saw what was happening but in stead of giving Saba a chance to explain herself, he continued to lecture her because despite having all the experience in the world, he could not see through Ammar & formed his opinion on the face value that Ammar showed to him. I liked how Farah seemed a little dethatched to everything that Kanwal said about Ammar & in stead she was concerned about Saba. Ever since Sonia came, she made sure to let everyone know about Ammar’s weird behaviour & attitude with Saba, may be that is why for the first time in stead of speaking against her, Farah was seen feeling for Saba!

Closing Thoughts – So Good:

Overall, this entire episode of Khaas was exceptionally well-made. In this episode I enjoyed reading the emotions that all the characters expressed, at times little details like these make things very intricate & interesting. I am glad that a drama that started off on a weaker note has now become so good. The acting has been brilliant as well. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khaas.

Introductory Details:

Ohkay so, writing of Sarwat Nazeer, direction of Danish Nawaz & production of Momina Duraid Productions; Khaas is the new drama airing on Hum TV every Wednesday. The first three episodes of Khaas introduced the characters in great detail & set the undertone of the story. The story of Khaas is mainly about Saba, who has no idea what life has in store for her. I decided to give this drama a go because of Sarwat Nazeer & the first three episode had Sarwat Nazeer written all over them.

Cast & Characters:

So, Saba (Sanam Baloch) belongs to a loving family where she has her father Faraz (Behroz Sabzwari), her mother Sadaf & sister Mehak. Saba’s elder sister Samreen is married & she is settled in Islamabad. Saba’s parents are an ideal couple who love & respect each other. Saba has grown up seeing such a perfect relationship in front of her, that is why it is natural for her to expect the same kind of relationship with her spouse.

On the other hand we got introduced to Ammar (Ali Rehman) who happens to be the eldest & only son of the family. He has a younger sister Nida (Anam Gohar). Ammar has been the centre of attention of his entire family all his life & that is why he has gotten used to the royal treatment. Ammar is egoistic & he can not take no for an answer. Ammar has always been treated as the most important person in everyone’s life that is why he expects everyone to treat him the same way.

Ammar’s friend Fakhir (Haroon Rashid) is the sensible, wise & mature person who tries to show Ammar the other side of the picture every time but because Ammar is so self-obsessed & thinks he knows better, he doesn’t pay heed to anything!

Story So Far:

So, Ammar sees Saba in her university & that’s when he decides to get married to her. Ammar’s cousin Farah (Natasha Ali) who happens to be a lecturer in the same university finds Saba for Ammar & that’s how things proceed. Ammar’s family puts forth his proposal for Saba & that’s how everything gets going.

Saba is someone who has big plans for herself that she will complete her education & focus on her career. The marriage was not on her mind but this unexpected proposal did put Saba in a tight spot. Saba’s parents did say that she had all the freedom to make the decision but kept on highlighting how much they liked Ammar & his family & how lucky Saba was to land such a proposal. The way Saba said made to say yes was a complete case of her getting pressurized but pyaar se. Saba was not in a mood to get married but because she saw how keen her parents especially her mother was, she couldn’t say no.

All this while, they kept on highlighting the fact that Saba’s delay in saying yes to the proposal was basically a big deal for Ammar & his family. Ammar couldn’t really wrap his head around the fact that there was this ordinary girl who wasn’t jumping with joy over his proposal & rather took her time to think things through. All those conversations about Saba making Ammar wait started to sound a little repetitive though. Ammar couldn’t take it therefore he even decided to call the wedding off but decided to go for it because firstly his family & friends pressurized & secondly, he spoke to Saba, that too when she kind of took an initiative. I think this was the interesting aspect how the writer tried to highlight the fact that things on the surface might seem perfect but ego & narcissism are deeply rooted & are mostly unseen in a person till the girl gets married. Everyone couldn’t stop praising Ammar over the face value but they had no idea how his attitude later will create problems for Saba.

Fakhir is also involved in a one-sided love with Saba. They both had a brief interaction over a little car accident but Fakhir couldn’t take her out of his mind, I guess it is because Saba probably resembles Fakhir’s mother a lot, that is why he developed feelings for her. Fakhir also happens to be a neighbour of Saba’s best friend & that is how he finds out about Saba’s engagement but he has yet to find out that Saba got engaged to Ammar.

Closing Thoughts – Commercialized Treatment:

Overall, the first three episodes of Khaas were decent but borderline average. This drama definitely can be tuned to but after seeing the first three episodes & also the promo of the fourth episode, I feel it lacks the spark that actually could’ve made it Khaas. Sarwat Nazeer’s scripts are simple & they deserve that kind of treatment as well, like the currently on-air Do Bol is a perfect example. I feel by commercializing her script, Danish Nawaz has kind of compromised on the essence of the story. The main issues seem to be suppressed by the least important details that have gotten coverage like Sadaf’s fixation with Whatsapp & Facebook? Every time these apps were mentioned, I wondered how are they related to the story or are going to help? I know the director has tried to make it all very real & relatable to the daily lives or regular people but I think even the teenagers don’t announce out loud that they need to click a picture for Facebook. Anyways, Sanam Baloch looks good in this drama, probably better & less tired than she looked in Teri Raza but I hope her role is substantial & doesn’t turn into another bechari who chooses to stay in a dysfunctional marriage because she doesn’t want to upset her parents. Ali Rehman looks bored, not because of the character that he is playing but because of the overall attitude & styling. I think it’s high time that he should experiment with his looks a bit. Haroon Rashid seems to be playing the same kind of role that he has already played in Do Bol, the only difference is that in this drama he is far more mature & rooted. The character of Farah is loud & Nastaha Ali has done everything to make it louder, but yes, looks nice & does justice to the overall character. The direction is alright but it could have been better definitely because Sarwat Nazeer’s scripts come across as best when they are given a fairly simple treatment. The OST is alright too & I so don’t want to make this reference but I will say that so far the first three episodes have been just alright & I hope the remaining episodes turn out to be Khaas. Oh yes, before I end my review I so want to know who wrote the dialogue ‘Ab ai na billi thaylay se bahir’? Like who did the literal translation of the proverb ‘the cat’s out of the bag now’, because I had a good laugh at this gem. I hope there are more such gems in the rest of the drama.
