The Team Of “Jawani Phir Nahi Aani” Meets Bloggers In Karachi

0

Upcoming Pakistani film Jawani Phir Nahi Aani has been in the news for many reasons for the past few weeks. Now that it is a few days away from being screened in cinemas, the team of the film is doing everything it can to promote this film. They are meeting the public in different cinemas, being part of different promotions by the sponsors and the team also met bloggers of Karachi in a cafe. The pictures of this meeting show that everyone had a wonderful time at this get together. Hamza Ali Abbasi has been missing from all these promotions perhaps because he wants to show the viewers that he is sticking by what he said about not promoting the film unless some objectionable scenes will be cut off from the film.

While many people after watching the songs of the films that have been released till now are of the idea that this film is heavily influenced by Bollywood movies, the writer of the film Vasay Chaudhry begs to differ. In a recent interview Vasay Chaudhry made it clear that the inspiration has in reality been taken from an old Pakistani film Abhi Tu Mei Jawan Hun.

Here are some pictures of the JPNA team with the bloggers of Karachi:

Grand Welcome to “Welcome Back” on Pakistani Box office

Welcome Back” is a Bollywood film released on 4th September 2015 on Pakistani office. Whats’s special in it as Bollywood films are screened every other week on Pakistani cinemas. Well the special thing is the Grand reception the film has received on the Pakistani box office.

The film made a new record of opening weekend collection by any film in Pakistan, by collecting more than 3.2 crore (32 million) Pakistani rupees in just two days. The film is still going strong and so far has collected 8.85 crore (88 million) rupees in just one week. As per the news, it is a typical Bollywood comedy masaala film, and its success has yet again proved the demand, such content holds on Pakistani box office.

opening

The opening (two days) business of Welcome Back, is more than the total collection of two Pakistani films Moor and Shah released on the 14th August 2015. In the 20 days of run so far both films have earned nearly 3 crore (30 million) where Moor has earned nearly 2 crore (20 million) and Shah has earned nearly 1 crore (1 million).

Bollywood films are extremely popular in Pakistan and normally every Bollywood film has a big opening weekend, but few carry on with the success of opening weekend. Even if not very successful a Bollywood film easily covers more than 1-2 crore, which is a handsome amount on Pakistani box office. There are less than 120 cinemas in Pakistan which play Bollywood films. Bollywood films are screened in the provinces of Sindh, Punjab and Federal capital of Islamabad. In the other two provinces Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa normally only Pashto films are released, due to limited demand of Bollywood and Pakistani Urdu films.

The highest grosser film in the Pakistani box office history is also a Bollywood film Dhoom 3 released in 2013, which earned more than 25 crores (250 million).

Here is a list of all time highest grosser Bollywood films in Pakistan, Welcome Back stands at Number 7 and is expected to improve its standing.

Dhoom 3.. 25cr

Mol – Episode 15

0

This was quite an ajeeb si episode, with ajeeb say dialogues and to echo Emaan’s mumsy – Emaan ka ajeeb sa rawaya.

Jis rishtay ki bunyaad – yaani aulaad hi beech mein na ho, uss rishtay mein kia reh jata hai? Yeh tou ek khokla rishta hota hai. I seriously don’t like the way this drama is dealing with a couple’s inability to have a child. I understand that only childless couples know how difficult it is to live with this sense of deprivation, but the thing is, I have seen childless couples that don’t wallow in misery. Instead, they choose to connect with each other and find happiness in the lighter, happier things in life. This is how sensible, real life couples deal with this blow. This is by no means easy but it’s not impossible either. Had Emaan faced her problem this way, I would have called her a ‘strong’ woman in the true sense. But, demanding a divorce on no strong grounds – definitely not what I expect from a strong woman. All this talk about making a decision and staying true to it would’ve made a whole lot more sense if Sheheryaar had been an awful husband. Nothing about Emaan today – her dialogues, body language, tone or expressions – could remind me of the Emaan I used to enjoy watching on my screen. All through this episode, Sheheryaar tou Sheheryaar, she stayed aloof from her mother, too!

This episode alone testifies to the fact that Faisal Qureshi is a fabulous actor! For Sheheryaar, here comes the dawning realization that call it love or commitment, it is Emaan who completes his life. All through this episode, Sheheryaar wasn’t his usual, calm and composed self. Sheheryaar fears the looming collapse of his marriage, and the scene where he is lost in thought and his maid comes to remind him about his morning tea was done very well. I don’t feel the need to say it, but I really feel for Sheheryaar. This is not what Sheheryaar Hassan deserves for being a supportive and understanding husband. Putting up with all of this just because he couldn’t utter three overrated words? Not fair!

Rohail is not comfortable with Shahnaam-Emaan bonding and makes no secret of it, but I would actually say that Emaan is very dheet! I think she can clearly sense that Rohail is giving off cold vibes and yet, she simply barges into his house like it’s her own! I really didn’t want to say this, but Emaan’s obsession with Shaanu is starting to feel creepy. I can’t seem to understand Emaan’s ‘plans’ for her future. She wants Sheheryaar to divorce her so that she can be with Shahnaam, but if she marries Rohail, I wonder how awkward it would be for Emaan to be Sheheryaar’s neighbor+ex-wife! Yikes!

Sajal, Sajal, Sajal – now where do I begin? That smile alone was enough to tell me that Sajal is beginning to think about becoming Sheheryaar’s dusri biwi. Why put on the mein-kabhi-Sheheryaar-say-shadi-nahe-karun-gi show when all this while, all you actually wanted, in your hearts of hearts, was to be his dulhan (pehli ya dusri, that’s another debate)? Clearing the store to find Sheheryaar’s childhood pics and keeping broken bangles in the drawer, bohat sambhaal kay, just because they were associated with an eye contact with Sheheryaar (that lasted for a few seconds, just so you know)– ten years from now, when this gal will look back on her life, I bet she’ll ask herself: mein nay apni puri zindagi akhir kia kia?? On a serious note, I would really appreciate it if they just make up their mind about how Sajal’s character is supposed to shape up because this is the second time Sajal has contradicted herself.

There is not much to say about Humayun’s visit to Sukkur because it just went to show that Humayun is a despicable human being and Imtiaz Sahab, being a ghairatmand and concerned father, is appalled at how Humayun can stoop so low. Kuch naya batao! Coming to the ladies squad, I hereby declare that I won’t be watching any drama featuring the actress playing Zareena!

How many of you watched the episode? Voice your views!

Farwa Ki ABC – Episode 8

I guess all of us know by now that Asma can do no wrong and nothing can ever go right in Farwa’s life!! Although it appears to be that the drama is not about Farwa learning the ABC’s of life till now but I have a feeling that at some point we will see a change in Farwa’s character. Some of the situations and dialogues in tonight’s episode were exceptionally funny. For the first time I felt for the poor teacher! He should’ve known better of course but now that he is married to Farwa he thinks of it as a life long commitment therefore listening to the truth wasn’t easy for him. We learned that Sir Mustansar sees his lost love in Farwa therefore he is not going to let her go at any cost!! Farwa cannot go back to her parents house now firstly because she cannot stand Asma Ghaznavi and secondly because her mother told her upfront that it was not an option. I do feel at times that Farwa’s parents are being very unfair to her. The way Farwa reacted every time Sir Mustansar tried to get close to her was absolutely hilarious!! That dialogue about Candy Crush was the cherry on top!! Although this was a sad situation but Farwa definitely managed to make me laugh and while I felt for her husband I enjoyed this particular scene the most.

The way Changez expresses his love to Farwa is also another comic element in the play. Changez’s grand plan and the reason behind it went to show that he has complexes of his own. The way he described parhe likhe log to his friend made me laugh. I must say that Changez and Farwa do have a lot in common although people like them are not common at all!! The manner in which Farwa described Changez to her husband said a lot about why she thinks she should be with him and not with someone like Sir Mustansar. She wants to get married to someone who is ordinary like her and not someone who is an intellectual and of course someone who listens to Urdu music and does not read English books!! It is funny how in this drama people are being divided not on the basis of class like we see in most dramas but on the basis of how intelligent they are!

fk

Asma’s obsession with Farwa and the way she is always trying to put her down is beyond me!! Everyone listens to Asma as if they have no brains of their own and even Farwa’s father is convinced that Asma did them a huge favor by getting married to Junaid!! It is ironic how this man can see all the faults in his own daughter but cannot see what Asma has done. The truth is finally out thanks to Asma but I do feel that Farwa’s character has been portrayed as that of a girl who does have some mental disorder of a mild nature therefore it would’ve been far more convincing if Farwa had actually been diagnosed with some disorder of this kind by an expert.

The preview of the next episode suggested that things will go from bad to worse for Farwa. We have yet to see how she will cope with the problems that might be coming her way. I must say that all the actors in this play have given outstanding performances and the chemistry between the characters makes up for the flaws in the way these characters have been introduced to us. Sonia Hussain definitely stands out in the play more than anyone else. It is refreshing to see her playing a different role with such brilliance. This episode was interesting and funny. The only problem was with the make up, I find the white faces and the not-so-white necks very distracting!

How many of you watched this latest installment? Please share your thoughts about it.

Tumhare Siwa – Episode 04!

LOL! What’s gone into HUM TV program planners? I am sure a lot of people will agree with me on this that the last thing we want to see on our screens as a Friday Night entertainment is a group of ill people who have nothing but terminal diseases & transplants to talk about. Like, being in Middle East right now, Friday night is supposed to be our weekend & honestly, Tumhare Siwa is definitely not a perfect idea of a weekend entertainment.

I think Aazar doesn’t realize but he has taken a lot from Arsal already & is bent on taking more. First his ‘Gurda’ & now his ‘Samra’? Like honestly, I think Arsal needs more sympathy than anybody else in this drama because he has given a lot more to Aazar than he realizes, but yes, I have a question to ask which I am asking out of sheer curiosity & that is regarding Arsal & Aazar’s jobs? Like being Pilots, transplants & a missing kidney didn’t cost them their jobs? Please enlighten me about this issue with your answers. :)

So, once again, Tania & Baber are missing a lot out on life because they are not doing anything about it & are only worried about Aazar & Rania. I think Tania & Baber need to go out for a holiday or indulge themselves in some activity because they are wasting their lives & our time due to sheer fixation with those who are least bothered about them. Tania & Baber’s conversations are so repetitive that I can easily mute their scenes & know exactly what they are talking about because they have nothing else to talk about!!!

Neni’s declining health forced Samra to agree to get married to Aazar & get medical help because now she wants to survive for the sake of her daughter. To be honest, this drama has given a highlight to some unique treatments for such serious diseases that we have never heard of, like Samra getting married to Aazar ‘Bhai’ to survive. To be honest, Samra referring to Aazar as Aazar Bhai seemed so force where I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes.

Finally the faux bearded Molvi Sahab showed up again & he reminded Arsal about how Samra won’t be his wife anymore so there are certain boundaries that he’d need to take care of but I so wished that he’d talk about the ‘iddat’ too but seems like that important aspect of divorce didn’t cross his mind too & he was focused on delivering the dialogues that were meant to be muted by the editor later.

Finally, Samra has signed the divorce papers & she is not married to Arsal anymore but she chose to stay in the same house but then all this is pretty confusing considering how they ignored Iddat, they wouldn’t have given a though to Samra’s whereabouts too. The preview suggested that Samra would be forced by her Sautan Rania to stay at their home because apparently those people who have never made an appearance are talking about them. I really am sure that from now on, they wouldn’t focus on Samra’s deteriorating health & would focus on the misery of the newly divorced couple, lol! I must commend the writer for introducing such a unique treatment for a lady who is suffering from illness. The direction of the drama is mediocre & the sound quality of this episode was absolutely poor too because quite a few times due to a lot of bass, I really couldn’t figure out what they were saying. Please share your thoughts about this masterpiece.

“Do Not Mistake Me For Morality Police” – Hamza Ali Abbasi Warns People!

Hamza Ali Abbasi has been seen as the morality police by many people because of his recent comments about item numbers and various other aspects of films in particular. But the actor wants everyone to know that he is not the morality police. This message is especially for those people who send Hamza Ali Abbasi proof that certain other people in showbiz are not as “decent” as they pose to be. In a status update Hamza Ali Abbasi asked people to stop sending him such materiel because he was not going to bash anyone based on what they did in their private lives.

1

In another status Hamza Ali Abbasi said that every comment that he has ever made whether it was about gay marriages, item numbers or about not working in India has been taken in the wrong context by many people. He said that he never has any person in mind when he gives such comments so people should stop manipulating his words.

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 15 & 16!

Ohkay so, Mohabbat Aag Si has been quite an interesting play but let me just say that before I got it for reviewing, I did follow it through but not so vigilantly, so I hope you guys would understand if I miss a few details from the past but I will make sure that I will pay attention to all the remaining episodes just like I did while watching these two episodes this week. I feel that this drama has become a lot more interesting because a lot of twists & turns were introduced. The story now brings its viewers to make speculations & assumptions, which I feel is something that keeps us engaged & makes us look forward to the drama itself.

Saba is someone who is out there to challenge Apa Jaan because the moment she started to read between the lines, she got exposed to such bitter truths that everyone else in her family has remained oblivious of, for so many years. Saba is someone who believes in herself & chooses not to believe what she is being told, that is why just within a span of 3 months, she uncovered such dark secrets about Apa Jaan that she was able to hide from everyone else; even her own brothers who have lived with her all their lives under the same roof. I really must commend the writer for etching out Saba’s character so perfectly because everything that she does lets us know what a confident & self-sufficient girl she is. I absolutely love how Saba has started playing mind games with Apa Jaan using Shareefa. What I like the most about Saba is that she doesn’t put her foot down & continues to do what she makes her mind about, that is why, she didn’t hold back & followed Apa Jaan at such a late hour just in a quest to find out more about her activities.

Saba got to know that Apa Jaan goes to some bungalow nearby but upon questioning she was told that the same bungalow she was inquiring about has remained unoccupied for the last 12 years. Obviously, Saba knew what everyone else didn’t, as she herself witnessed Rukhsana bringing a girl out of that home & taking her somewhere. I am sure there’s a lot more to that story & I totally can’t wait to find out what it’s all about. I think Bee Jee’s (Sajida Syed) character was introduced for the first time in this episode (if I am not mistaken or if I haven’t missed her bit in previous episodes) & it gave us a lot of insight into Rukhsana’s character too. At least, apart from Shareefa, there is Bee Jee who knows everything about Rukhsana & not only that, she keeps a close eye on her as well. Bee Jee is someone who can advice Rukhsana about her life because looks like Rukhsana only listens to her & has confided in her because that is why very casually Bee Jee restated Rukhsana’s secrets in front her. Looks like Bee Jee has helped Rukhsana all these years by guiding her but this time around, she came to warn her about how she should take a step back because Bee Jee can see that Rukhsana is at the brink of losing everything as she got to know that someone has started inquiring about Rukhsana. For now, Bee Jee doesn’t know who it was but going by how Bee Jee saw Rukhsana visiting the bungalow suggested that she must be their neighbor & knows exactly why Rukhsana goes there at such odd hours.

Samia, still guilt & grieve stricken spent some time with her mother to tend to her & Sharafat decided to help his wife too. I really like how Samia & Sharafat’s relation has been developed. They both understand what they are going through & they both know how to consol each other. I really like how when Samia loses her patience, Sharafat always reminds her to hope for the best. I must say, Uzma has done complete justice to the character of Samia & has acted brilliantly throughout. The scene where she cries her heart out while praying & wishing to be blessed with a child was enacted by Uzma flawlessly. She has made Samia’s struggle look absolutely convincing. Finally, Samia & Sharafat’s wait is over & they got the news they were waiting for. The following conversation regarding the baby & how eagerly Samia waited for this day was very sweet too. I know Samia is very naïve but I don’t find it unrealistic. It is totally understandable that Samia is a very simple girl who has no issues trusting others, that is why her trust in Apa Jaan is very strong because of which, she didn’t pay heed to what Saba has been telling her because for her, all this is too difficult to even comprehend & imagine that a pious person like Apa Jaan can deceive her own family.

Looks like things have started to shape up in Wajahat’s life too. He has finally landed a good job & Saba has decided to do things her way. She has started to spend some more time with her husband than Apa Jaan has allowed both of them because right now Saba knows something that Apa Jaan doesn’t, which gives Saba the confidence to face Apa Jaan & not take her seriously because she knows that Rukhsana isn’t capable of doing what her husband Wajahat thinks of his sister & she now is most certain that all the things Rukhsana said to her about Wajahat’s life being in danger were nothing but a lie.

We were introduced a little to the psychological issues that Rukhsana must be suffering from. She sees what others can’t see & she is so indulged in her day-dreaming that she still feels connected to things that have become a part of the past now. Rukhsana cooks for her special someone, talks to him, gets dressed for him but sadly, he is nowhere to be seen. Going by what Bee Jee talked about, it looks like Rukhsana was once happy with someone but he isn’t a part of her life anymore & Rukhsana clearly needs to let go of the past but she is holding onto his memory & she is living two lives. Bee Jee believes that this would be the reason because of which she will end up ruining herself & everything in her life. As much as I am interested to see what transpired in Rukhsana’s life to bring her to this point where her mind doesn’t seem to be in its right place, at least this much has been made clear that she can’t see anyone leading a happy life because just when Wajahat told her about his new job, all she could see was the eye contact he made with her, giving her an impression that he has become a little too independent for her liking. Also, the moment she heard about Samia’s pregnancy, all she did was cry her eyes out because she fears she would lose control over her brother & he would get busy in his own little world. Rukhsana clearly is a control freak & she wants things happening her way but too bad, her time is soon going to be over because she herself doesn’t know how hard Saba is working to discover her dirty little secret.

So, this is what Mohabbat Aag Si was all about this week. I must say, I really like how each & every actor has given a perfect face to the character that has been assigned to them. Iffat Omar is phenomenal as Rukhsana; where she makes us hate her character, she also makes us sympathetic towards her because she has gone through a lot too, which obviously doesn’t justify how she has been ruining her brothers’ lives, but I still feel she has been a victim of circumstances too. I think after a very long time I am getting to see Iffat Omar’s performance & she has been very promising. Sarah Khan looks pretty as always & I love how she intimidates Shareefa. I love Faiza Gillani’s bits too; she makes her scenes a treat to watch. Uzma has been very convincing as Samia & I love everything about her character. I enjoyed the dialogues & conversations in these episodes but the ones that made me giggle were ‘Allah besabron ko sabr atta kar’ & also ‘Apa Jaan shukranay ke nafal adda kar rahi hongi’, haha!!! All of a sudden I feel the story has taken a very interesting turn & the thing I enjoy the most about this play is how each & every track has one thing or the other to offer us & also how all the characters seems equally important where you nowhere feel that they could’ve subtracted a character or its story, they all somehow complete the whole family picture & I love how there are so many stories evolving under one roof. I can’t wait to find out what more do they have in store for us. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si & let us know how much you enjoyed watching them? :)

Sangat – Episode 4

I might sound like a broken record but I must say that this episode just like all the other episodes of Sangat was completely owned by Saba Qamar. Saba Qamar has managed to breath life into a very difficult character and she does that so effortlessly. I am really enjoying watching Saba Qamar play a role which brings out the best in her. I have always been able to relate to Ayesha’s character right from the start. Although Ayesha’s ‘advisors’ do not have anything new to offer but Ayesha’s character has been etched-out very nicely. I liked the way Ayesha reacted to what Adnan did to her. Everything that happened went to show that a husband cannot justify such a behaviour and it is inexcusable. There was no violence as such but Ayesha felt violated yet again and this time by her own husband. The fact that Ayesha did not just accept Adnan’s apology although it seemed quite genuine made me like her character even more. She felt like she was forced to do something she did not want to because her husband did not trust her word. I must also add that Adnan’s guilt pangs shortly after he dragged Ayesha to the Pir was also something we don’t see in our dramas every day. Most often we see men who think they are justified in doing something like this for some reason or the other. Adnan loves his wife and did not want to do all this to her but he gave into all the pressure. Adnan did not judge Ayesha for lying to him when she came back from the psychiatrist but confessed that he lied to his mother too which basically implied that he felt like he had no right to judge his wife when he himself was telling lies to cover up for what he had done.

sangatt

The writer and director have covered the husband and wife ties flawlessly. Adnan is someone who loves his wife but he does not understand why his wife needs so much time to heal therefore he is resorting to desperate measures. Adnan wants everything to be ‘normal’ again and Ayesha on the other hand expects her husband to give her more time. She thinks that Adnan is being unfair because he is not willing to give her enough time to heal. Adnan does not have a clue what is it that is hurting his wife so much therefore he can do very little to heal her and being patient isn’t always that easy!!

I must appreciate the role of the Pir in the entire situation. It isn’t very often that we see such figures playing such a positive role in dramas. The Pir obviously figured out what was wrong with Ayesha but he knew that keeping her secret was the only way to help her. Asking her husband to stand by his wife’s side was a very wise advice. I also love the way the nand bhabi relationship is being shown in this drama. It was heartening to see Farah pleading Ayesha’s case and her conversation with her mother especially was very touching.

sanagt

While this drama is showing us new perspectives in some areas in others we also see the same old line of thinking. The psychiatrist’s suggestions to Ayesha for example are the sort of advices which any woman can give to Ayesha. Ayesha’s mother’s attitude is shocking to the say the least. Is this woman even human? Someone harasses her and then snatches her mobile and it does not effect her at all. She thinks he was just a naughty kid!! We found out more about the character of the person who is responsible for ruining Ayesha’s life. Shahwez lost his mother when he was very young and guessing from his reaction when he entered Ayesha’s house he feels guilty about what he has done. His guilt of course won’t make up for the damage he has done but I am waiting to find out more about his character. What was the motive behind planning something like this??

The preview of the next episode showed that Ayesha is still not willing to forgive her husband and start a family with him. Shahwez will get closer to Ayesha’s mother and he will realize how much damage he has done to Ayesha.

Ayesha (Saba Qamar) remains the highlight of this drama. The character and the acting is absolutely brilliant. I must give credit to the writer and director for taking the story forward in a very fine manner till now.

Ali Zafar Shows Love For His Wife In A Special Way!

Different people have different ways of showing their love to their spouse, showing care and concern for them is of course something everyone does but there are special times and moments which call for special celebrations. Ali Zafar was deeply thankful to his wife when their baby daughter was born few months back. He has always said that his wife has been a big support for him all through his career.

3

Now that Ali Zafar is doing very well in his work and is earning a lot he decided that he should gift his wife her dream house. Ali Zafar talked to an Indian Newspaper about his special gift to his wife in which he said, “It’s been under construction for over three years. We’ve just moved in a few months back. Ayesha was really touched by the gift and has done the interiors herself with a little bit of help from me. We’ve kept the decor modern, classy and minimal. We have installed music systems which will play all the time.”

4

The house consists of four-bedrooms and it is located in Lahore. It is spread over 15,000 square feet. Ali Zafar’s recording studio is in the basement of the Villa. This dream house is Ali Zafar’s gift to his wife for giving him a beautiful little daughter.

1

“I come from a modest background. My parents were professors and we used to live with my grandparents in a small room. So, like everyone else, I have been wishing for a house like this for a long time and been working hard towards it,” said the actor.

Ali Zafar’s parents live in the adjoining bungalow. Ali Zafar said, “I’m very close to my family and wanted them to be near me.”

 ali zafar with wife

The Villa really is a dream house with a swimming pool. Every room has a balcony so that the person staying the room can enjoy the view. When asked if Ali Zafar was thinking of making a home in Mumbai too he said, “Mumbai has been kind to me but I don’t think as a Pakistani national I could buy property there. I visit the city, do my work and come back. This is my home.”

Aab-e-Hayat: Episode 11

0

Let me put it this way, my faith in Aab-e-Hayat has been restored now.  This episode not only had far more to offer than the previous one but also answered some of the questions that I raised previously.

****SPOILER ALERT****

Progress

Petris Ibaka is approached by a senior journalist Anderson Cooper who had been following the Congo issue lately. In their secret meeting, (which was also recorded), Ibaka openly talks about the corruption associated with that project and excessively mentions Salar’s name as an honest and helping officer. CIA gets apprehensive about this meeting and plans to execute Ibaka after obtaining his research documents. Ibaka is cornered in Brooklyn, New York, gets shot while defending himself, gets caught and taken to a New York hospital. After an initial surgery he is transferred via helicopter to Washnigton in order to lure Salar out of his hotel room. News channels were ordered to show Ibaka as a victim of car accident with full bio and passport size pictures repeatedly so that Salar sees it and gets out of his hotel room. When Salar goes to see Ibaka dying, his passport, laptop and other stuff are stolen.  Problem arises when a video appears on Youtube, captured by a schoolboy showing the full recording of Ibaka being attacked in New York and taken by two white guys. The video (as per social media trends) goes viral and the CIA are now stuck because they showed Ibaka having an accident in Washington afterwards. Cooper and his team also make the recording of the meeting with Ibaka public along with the false text message from Ibaka that he would not be available to meet them. These messages were sent to Cooper and other journalist after the video was recorded by the child. On top of it all, Ibaka’s girlfriend discloses his will that if he dies in an ‘unnatural way’ people of Congo should rise up against the oppression. The people of Congo do rise up against oppression and mass riots break out.

Earlier, before Salar reaches USA, Imama is called by her gynaecologist for an early check-up. She is unknowingly given injections to cause labour pain and is convinced by her doctor for a pre-mature delivery. She gives birth to a boy Muhammad Hameen Sikandar while Jibreel (her oldest son) takes extra-ordinarily cautious responsibility of his younger sister. Imama after hearing about the whole scenario anxiously call Salar (whose phone connections are restored just in time) to ask about his well-being. When the call is connected, they both cry and Salar offers a sajdah for his gratitude towards Allah that his family is safe. Due to all the uprising of people of Congo and media hype, Salar Sikandar’s status has been restored by the World Bank (only to deal with him later).

Hashim Mubeen comes to Sikandar Usman’s house and asks him to give him Imama’s contact number because he needs to return something of Imama’s. He is living in an old home and most important of all, has converted to Islam.
In continuation with the bar scene, Salar (World Bank Vice President now) completes his sentence that he believes in a one night stand but only with the Hoors. Jacky (who is a set-up by CIA as expected) is further humiliated when Salar leaves her with writing one sentence in Arabic on his visiting card:

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

Goodbye Ibaka and Welcome Hameen!

One genius went, another arrived. Let’s have a moment of silence for Petris Ibaka who died a hero… and two moments of joy for our little jinn (as described by the writer). We had all been thinking that the boy mentioned in Spelling Bee contest scene as being Jibreel. But Jibreel is now introduced to be a genious, responisible and introvert kind of boy. Now we know that that boy must be Hameen. I am super-excited to have more of this kid that would be a challenge for Imama and Salar. Remember Sikandar Usman’s wish: ‘Main dua karta hun tumhari aulad tumhein waise hi khwaar karay jaisay tum mujhe kartey ho?’ This boy is the answer to his grandpa’s wish.

Return of Chunni

Alright it is not a return but just a mention of her. For those of us that were of the opinion that Chunni is not Imama (including me) high five!! Chunni/ Kaneez is mentioned as being raised as the fourth child of Imama and Salar. For now, I have faith that Salar would adopt Chunni as he must be the school owner mentioned in her story.

Also, if Hameen is the kid in Spelling Bee contest then Chunni must be his younger sister mentioned in that scene. Because Hameen is said to be 9 years old at that time and his sister is seven, while Inaya is older than him.

New York/ Washington Confusion Resolved

In my last review I wondered why NY was mentioned earlier in the episode while later all was set in Washington. As I have complete faith in Umera Ahmed’s capabilities, it could not have been a mistake. This confusion was resolved in this episode as Ibaka was initially attacked in NY but then was deliberately taken to Washington.

Oh Ye Noble Salar Sikandar!

We, the fans, were quite in pain when Salar apparently accepted Jacky’s advances. He restored his stature as he virtually slapped her offer in her face. I actually laughed out loud when I read what Salar wrote for Jacky :-D One thing is certain though, that the CIA would go to any length to lure him into a trap.

The Operation Scene Again!

Who is that neuro surgeon? Who in the world is the patient? And who for crying out loud is witnessing that surgery? I have a feeling that the surgeon must be Hameen. But if the patient is Salar (which I doubt) then he would not have been doing the surgery. Or is he so confident that he would take the risk? Please share your own theories.

Quality Rating

The episode was medium paced. Umera Ahmed can develop characters with her eyes closed. Things went from worse to perfect so smoothly that you felt like flowing with them. The overall quality of the episode was worth 4 out of 5 in my opinion.

Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai- An Overview

I’ve scaled down my binge watching of Pakistani dramas not only due to time constraints but mostly because I’m at a point where I’ve just about had it with the same ghissi pitti topics and truth be told, I really, really need a break from the same recycled actors/ stories, etc. So in an attempt to break free from the mundane, I happened to chance across A-Plus. Written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah (Ek Nazar Meri Taraf), produced by Sadia Jabbar (Mera Naam Yusuf Hai) and directed by Shahzad Rafique, Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai has all the ingredients that make it worthy of cringe- watching.

imageimageYMDH is essentially the story of a miserable, confused lad, Jahangir / Jaani (Junaid Khan) who grew up in a hostile home with a habitually abusive father who constantly taunts his wife and bullies his son. DR. Nafeesuddin (Javed Sheikh) is a man who’s been married for over two decades but still fantasizes about his ex fiancée. He succumbed to pressure and married a plain Jane at his sister’s insistence but never accepted his wife Atiya (Irsa Ghazal) as an equal. Atiya is basically the desi aunty equivalent of Cinderella who has to put up with not one but two dominating nands. The elder one is a spinster who has clearly watched one too many sermons of Altaf Bhai in a drunken stupor- Anita Camphor is such a dead-ringer for MQMs infallible leader, you’d think you were seeing his ghost. The younger one, Rakshanda is an actress who’s under the mistaken impression that she is auditioning for a Star Plus 700+ episode soap.

From a young age, Jaani has witnessed his father’s fixation with beauty. Enter Mehtaab (Saima), a divorced nurse who takes shelter in their home and Jaani instantly develops a crush on the much older woman. Time goes by but nothing changes- Cinders continues making rotis while koosing her kismat; Altaf Behen continues her reign of terror; Dr Sahab continues expressing his disgust; Rakshanda and her twin daughters and nikamma husband continue getting a solid 10 minutes of screen time for no real reason and Mehtaab piles on the make-up and her signature red lipstick… A now twenty something Jaani thinks he’s old enough to be a man. Before Jaani has had a chance to express his feelings to Mehtaab, his Daddy Cool has decided that he needs a beautiful woman in his life and proposes to Mehtaab.

Just as I gave in to the inevitable dosri biwi cliche, I was pleasantly surprised that they dodged that bullet and Metaab not only rejects Dr. Doofus, she tries to show him how cruel and heartless he is for taking his dil se khoobsurat wife for granted. Jaani is elated with this rejection and with renewed confidence seeks Mehtaab’s help in giving his mom a much needed makeover. The surkhi powder plan is sheer genius and is almost certain to succeed ( so why did it take twenty odd years? Don’t ask me, I’m just a regular viewer). Unfortunately, the evil sisters are around to ensure their brother doesn’t fall prey to the surkhi powder: Evil sisters 967453786, Cinders/ Jaani 0. With the odds stacked against them, Jaani finally has an outburst that lasts 93 seconds but has enough punch to turn his father around. Nafeesuddin is a completely changed man so much so that you’d think you’re losing your mind!

The new and improved Nafeesuddin 2.0 is quite the upgrade. Complete with romantic gestures, Nafeesuddin points out to his sisters that he’s the man of the house and his wife is his queen. His previously awaara son is now his pride and joy. As expected, his sisters huff and puff and try to destroy his happiness in order to retain control… That’s about as far as I’ve gotten with my cringe- watching. I’ve never had the good fortune of watching Saima before except for a promo of “Aap ki Kaneez” so at the very least I can say it’s a change from everyday actors. The background score and OST coupled with those trademark dil dhehlaaney Waley sound effects remind me of the catastrophic Adhura Milan– a train wreck in its own right!

I’m really curious to know- is anyone watching this? What do you make of this? Anyone out there bold enough to hazard a guess over what comes next???

Fawad Khan Is Impressed By The Hospitality In India

0

Pakistan and India are considered arch-rivals but whenever there is people to people contact these people always give a very positive opinion about the experience in the “rival” country. Like every other actor who has gone to India Fawad Khan is also very happy with the way the people across the border are treating him.

Fawad Khan was in London recently where he was seen visiting the famous restaurant Chak 89 there while attending a Press Conference. While talking to the BBC correspondent Fawad Khan said that he had no difficultly settling down in India. He said while talking about the concept of India and Pakistan being rivals and as a result him having any trouble in India , “A lot of us are brought up with these kinds of stigmas where there’s an enemy across the border but you’ll be surprised — Indians are coming over to Pakistan and Pakistanis are going over to India.”

He is also highly impressed by the hospitable nature of the people in India. He said, “The hospitality is something to write about. It’s amazing. You feel at home.”

Talking about his experience of working in the entertainment industry in Pakistan he said, “Everything is a gamble, every project that I attempt, even back in Pakistan is a gamble, and popularity is not something that’s going to stick with you for the rest of your life.”

Here are some pictures from his visit to Chak 89:

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 26!

Ohkay so, despite being slow, this episode was enjoyable & I had a great time watching it. I find it quite interesting the way they have given a lot of time & space to each & every character & its feelings, because of which we can relate to them & understand what they are going through. They have added such reality to each & every situation that you can’t resist relating to them or feeling for them & this is the beauty of Diyar-e-Dil.

So, this episode was completely dedicated to Faarah Behroz Khan. It was all about the final push that she needed to recollect & prioritize things in her life. It was all about her questions getting answered that will now help her in understanding herself & everyone else accurately. Faarah has always loved Agha Jaan because after Behroz she saw a father figure in him but there was something that prevented her to be comfortable around him & that only thing was her question related to Agha Jaan’s decision of enforcing a Nikkah on her & Wali. That entire scene & conversation between Agha Jaan & Faarah was done to perfection where it showed that Agha Jaan was never oblivious of what Faarah used to think & go through emotionally. Agha Jaan tried to draw his granddaughter closer to himself but his wisdom made him realize that there was still some wall that Faarah was trying to knock down before being completely convinced about him. The way he introduced Faarah to her new abode & all the things he said about her privacy made Faarah a little more confused as she never could’ve imagined that Agha Jaan would be so courteous & considerate to be even worried about how she has never been comfortable with the idea of a joint family. At that particular moment, the expression on Faarah’s face (depicted beautifully by Maya Ali) said it all. Faarah’s mind & heart once again were at a battle where she didn’t know who to side with as the Agha Jaan Ruhina told her about was completely different to the Agha Jaan she herself was interacting with & that is why when she realized that she has always misunderstood Agha Jaan, she reduced to tears because she was letting go of the burden she was carrying all this while. I absolutely loved that scene & found it very heart-warming because finally, after so many years, Agha Jaan got to clarify himself; he has held himself responsible, he has apologized but this was the very first time when he got to explain himself & finally he did it. Even though the ending of that perfect moment between Agha Jaan & his granddaughter Faarah was tragic, it at least happened after he got a chance to say each & everything that he had on his mind so that makes it a little tolerable.

I understand the concerns Zarmeenay has regarding Agha Jaan & I also agree to what she had to say to Faarah because one way or the other, Faarah has always caused distress to Agha Jaan but for the first time I found Zarmeenay’s dialogues a little repetitive & I didn’t like Maryam’s acting as well. I am finding it hard to enjoy her scenes but I know they fit well with the situation so Yay for that. After being confronted rather insulted by Zarmeenay, all the things that ran through Faarah’s mind were elaborated perfectly. It must’ve been a hard day for Faarah but when she’d look back, she’d cherish it because this was the day when she realized how wrong she was & she let go of all the negativity & misapprehensions she had against Agha Jaan & his family. The sight of Wali crying & praying for Agha Jaan was another eye-opener for her because she saw for the first time what Agha Jaan means to Wali & she didn’t let any negativity cloud her judgment that is why for the first time she was clear about what she was seeing & she realized how pure his intentions were. Wali never wanted to blackmail Faarah & he never wanted her to feel guilty, he just wanted her to make Agha Jaan happy & this is the first time Faarah understood that, that is why she confided in him & accepted her defeat in front of him. It was yet another beautiful scene & now when I think about it, this episode was filled with so many beautiful moments that it brings warmth to my heart. :)

Sadly, Moeez is so blinded by the potential profit of his business that he has started to resort to cheap tactics, where he is once again planning & plotting to trap Faarah. He definitely is insulting Faarah’s intelligence by thinking that a few gifts would be enough for her to scurry back to him. For the first time, I thought Tajjamul was concerned & rightly so because he could see that this rage & craving to achieve his goals was turning Moeez into a monster. Zohra obviously can’t see that but Tajjamul was shaken after he analyzed the situation. I don’t know why but I really hope that Tajjamul realizes his mistakes & tells Moeez to stop playing with Faarah’s life & Ruhina’s feelings. I hope for a change we get to see that there’s someone sane enough in Ruhina’s family.

This episode was beautiful as usual & it was filled with even more beautiful details. The way Wali prayed & the way Arjumand recited Holy Qur’an while sitting in a hospital depicted a story of everyone’s life where you pray even harder if you see someone dear to you suffering from the fragility of health. I loved that they included this tiny little detail, it was beautiful. I think going by the things Agha Jaan said & what Faarah thought later, all those who have always blamed Agha Jaan would now understand that this man has done it all, he has compensated enough for a small mistake that he committed many years ago & I guess everyone is entitled to be forgiven if they yearn for forgiveness with so much sincerity. I think Ruhina should let go of her anger because if it weren’t for Agha Jaan, Ruhina & Faarah both would’ve suffered a lot at the hands of Tajjamul & co. Yes, things didn’t go Ruhina’s way in the initial days of her marriage but if she’d look back, she will understand that she has had a fulfilling past & now a very comforting & secure present & future & that is all because of Agha Jaan. Needless to say, Osman Khalid Butt, Maya Ali & Abid Ali were perfect in this episode too. They have given us such brilliant performances that I am grateful to them. Please share your beautiful thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Aitraz – Episode 5

This episode just like the last one was a waste of time. Yes! we get the point – Arsalan’s mother wasted her precious time getting all that education she got from convent and some prestigious college as well therefore she thinks it is wise to share her woes with her maid. She is as insecure as mother-in-laws get in Pakistani dramas and her son’s sole purpose in life is to please his mother which seems like an impossible task at the moment. The bechari bahu gets full marks for playing the qurbani ki bakri with a smile on her face which makes me wonder what happened to the girl who seemed very sensible and had a lot of self-respect too before she got married. Arsalan and his naye naveli dulhan treated Arsalan’s mother like a 5 year old all through tonight’s episode, not that I blame them because her tantrums and attention needed tactics would make anyone question her mental age but somehow I found Komal’s holier-than-thou attitude towards the whole situation very repulsive.

I understand why Komal is so bent-on keeping Arsalan’s mother happy. She lost her own family therefore she wouldn’t want to be responsible for severing Arsalan’s ties with his mother but the problem was the constant repetition and not to mention the fact that watching these saas-bahu rothna manana scenes isn’t actually entertaining! Since the last episode it is almost as if we are watching the same scenes over and over again. In the last episode Komal’s honeymoon was cancelled and there was a big argument between her and Arsalan because she trusted his Khala with something personal but I guess our sidhi sadhi Komal does not believe in learning from her mistakes. She trusted Arsalan’s mother although she knows only too well that she is not her well-wisher. Any other girl with a little common sense would’ve made up some other lie or there is always the option of excusing ones self!!

aitraaz

The only thing that continuously changed all through tonight’s episodes were Komal’s hairstyles. Her hairstyle changed four times in the first eleven minutes of the play!! When the play becomes this repetitive you can’t help but notice things which would otherwise go unnoticed. Komal’s hairstyle changed while she went from one room to the other. Watching Arsalan and Komal plan how to win ami over was not the least bit exciting. The writer and the director obviously want the viewers to understand that our sidhi sadhi heroine is trying her best to save her home but it is not going to happen. I am sorry but I feel like they are trying too hard to make Komal look like the victim, I would’ve liked it better if she was not turned into a bechari character.

It is definitely time for the drama to pick up pace otherwise the viewers will have absolutely no reason to watch it. Right now I am waiting to see Wajdaan and Sania Saeed’s character therefore I am going to watch the next episode as well but if the drama continues to be this repetitive and boring then it will be an utter disappointment. I started watching this drama only because the last drama written by Samira Fazal, Alvida, was interesting right till the end, I trusted Imran Abbas’ choice and I wanted to see what Sania Saeed’s character had to offer but for the moment I don’t see much hope for this drama serial and it looks like the director wants to spell everything out for us which is not always good!!

Am I the only one who did not feel for Komal one bit?? Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Kanwar And Fatima Celebrate Their Son’s Second Birthday

Kanwar and Fatima celebrated the second birthday of their son Almir in style. Everything about the birthday party was very Disney like. The theme of the birthday party was blue. The grandparents and close family members attended the birthday party. All the close family members and friends also wore the same shade of blue which made the pictures look even more beautiful.

Here are some pictures from the birthday party:

Muqaddas – Last episode

After 36 episodes, Muqaddas came to an end today. I’ll say this first-hand, that the ending of our favourite show was not perfect, but the last episode did have it’s share of dialogues and scenes that I loved watching, and I am sure, you did too!

Ham donon intiqam aur ghusse ki aag mein jala diye gaye. This is exactly what I feel about Muqaddas and Maryam’s characters. Both of them suffered because of two men’s thirst for revenge_ two men who were very much alike in their selfishness. In order to avenge his mother, Aatir created another victim. He did achieve what he wanted to, i.e causing Jehanzeb so much grief that he wished for death but when the time came, he couldn’t stand back and gloat. Jehanzeb couldn’t tell the truth to his daughter when he was alive, but he made sure that she knew the truth when he was dead and didn’t have to face her. Before Aatir could bask in the glory of his achievement, he had to face the woman he wronged and make her believe that he really loved her. Something I thought she would never believe now.

Tehreem did shout at Aatir but the first slap was delivered to him by Muhib, and a well-deserved slap it was! However, it did not beat the second slap which Muqaddas delivered. Abhi tak tumhare intikaam ki aag nahi bhuji hai? The whole scene was very prowerful, not just because of the dialogue (which was ah-mazingly written) but because of Iqra Aziz’s and Noor Hassan’s phenomenal performances (and yes, I am using the word “phenomenal” once again). Everything that Muqaddas said to Aatir in that scene was what I wanted her to say. The way she reminded him the difference between love and hate was spot on! The highlight of the episode was, nonetheless, Aatir finding out that his mother was alive and well. Noor Hassan’s expressions once again, hit the nail on the head! His eyes did all the talking. Aatir realized that all the hurt that he caused Muqaddas was for nothing and that Maryam was alive all along.

Aatir’s reaction was justified, but I was surprised after hearing what Maryam had to say to him. She was right when she reminded Aatir of how wrong he had been, how he had destroyed Muqaddas’s life, but I had a hard time digesting the fact that a mother showed no affection towards her son the first time she met him after so many YEARS. I know that she was shocked after seeing this face of her son, but I have never seen a mother’s character so devoid of love for her son. Instead she forgave Ahmed Ali, the man who believed a lie about her, called her child illegitimate and threw her out of his house in the dead of the night. I expected Muqaddas never to forgive Aatir, but being a mother, Maryam’s hatred for Aatir was unrealistic.

Kabir and Nida getting back together must have been disappointing for a lot of viewers who were rooting for Kabir and Muqaddas. I was not taken by surprise though, because I did not expect a fairy tale ending. Muqaddas never loved Kabir and there was no way she was going to marry him. With that said, I have to admit that Kabir was the nicest character in this drama. He is a genuine and compromising person who deserved nothing but happiness. I am not sure Nida could ever give him that.

Aatir’s end was not something I wanted to see even when I knew it was possible. I never wanted Muqaddas to come back to him (or Maryam to come back to Ahmed for that matter) but I wanted him to still have his life and sanity. Aatir was an extreme minded person and I know that the writer has made us all well aware of his nature in the previous episodes, but I am done with the idea of the villian dying or losing his sanity in the last episode! How about moving far away from the people he destroyed and regretting his decision like a sane person?

Lekin chalo, kisi tareeqe se, we make sense of all this, the last scene was definitely unsatisfactory. This “legacy” of revenge should have been stopped after Aatir, but the fact that Muqaddas chose to continue it made me feel sick! I feel sorry for the child who will grow up with a mother who’d be full of hate. A mother who will never let him know the name of his father. Will it be another Aatir or Sarmad?

Overall, Muqaddas was a show worth-watching. The thrill and suspense kept us all glued to the screen! I remember watching the first episode and thinking, “It’s going to be another love story!” The second episode was the one that caught my interest and I could not stop watching the show after it. Ever since the kidnapping scene, we all kept guessing who the kidnapper was. I really enjoyed reading the readers’ theories about the kidnapper and his purpose. It was really fun reading not just the fans’ comments, but the ones from the cast of the show itself.

This was a show that was different from anything else on-air right now. The writer Adeel Razzak pulled off the thriller really well. He kept introducing new twists at the right time, and made sure we were all engrossed. Ali Masud Saeed directed the wonderfully written script really well. All the actors, including Noor Hassan, Iqra Aziz, Hina Bayat, Farhan Ali Agha, Khalid Anum, Furqan Qureshi, Nida Zaidi, Zainab Qayyum, Mohammad Asad and Agha Jarrar did their job well. The whole team of Muqaddas deserves a round of applause for what they have have achieved, i.e pulling off a thriller . Only if the ending was a little more satisfactory!

Asha Bhosle Praises The Good Lyrics And Wordings Of Pakistani Songs

0

Asha Bhosle is an icon in India and all around the world where people listen to music from India and Pakistan. Asha Bhosle was in Germany recently where she was going to mesmerize the audience with her beautiful voice. Asha Bhosle talked to Express Tribune before her concert and in her interview she expressed frustration with the substandard lyrics of the songs that were being written in India nowadays.

While the legend is not happy with the new songs being made in India she is happy that at least Pakistanis are making good songs. She said, ” Today, good lyrics and wordings only come out of Pakistan. People really know their Urdu there. Even though in India, there are many who know Urdu, they don’t write it well.”

1

Asha Bhosle is a big fan of Pakistani music for many years now. She said, “I have been listening to Ghulam Ali since the 50s. I am a big fan of his. I am also a very big fan of Mehdi Hasan. You see, I love songs, I love music and that is what I believe in. If the music is good, then everything is good. And then it is also ours, irrespective of where it comes from.”

2

Asha Bhosle had a few arguments with Atif Aslam when she was judging the talent show Sur Kshetra. Talking about that she said, ” Look, Runa Laila was on that show too and she is from Bangladesh. She is my friend. We were all laughing and joking around. Asking each other for advice. But that Aslam, I don’t know, maybe he was taught by someone from the channel that he had to fight with me. Or maybe it’s his nature, I don’t know. Our own Himesh Reshammiya, the Gujarati, he was so quiet. But Aslam constantly tried to rile me up. And I have to say that it was wrong, I was never taking any sides. I also gave good marks to Pakistani singers. I am always only concerned with the singing. My religion is music and I never lie about that. A singer has no religion, but music. Whoever sings well, I will embrace him. So I don’t get Aslam’s behaviour. But I suspect someone from the channel told him to do it for ratings.”

Asha Bhosle is hopeful that one day people in India will realize what kind of songs they are listening to and singing and things will change.

Ayeza Khan Is Back In Action

Ayeza Khan has been away from public eye for a few months now. Before ‘disappearing’ she announced that she was taking a break from dramas but did not tell her fans why she needed that break. When the news of the arrival of her baby was announced people guessed why Ayeza needed that break and also wondered if she will be back in showbiz soon or like some other celebrity mothers she will take a longer break.

The good news for all Ayeza Khan’s fans is that the diva is back in showbiz. She kick started her career with modeling for a leading brand and promoting her husband’s film Wrong No.

Ayeza Khan does not give a lot of interviews but she will be giving an interview very soon. The fans are waiting to find out what Ayeza’s future plans are.

The talented actress has been nominated for the best actress award in the Lux Style Awards.

Mol – Episode 14

The latest episode sets the premise for what’s next to come and at this point, we can see where this is heading. I didn’t want to lose my faith in Mol but this episode most certainly marks the beginning of Mol’s collapse for me.

Aap roz raat ko bahir jatay hain aur dair say aatay hain. Mein nay tou kabhi nahe poocha kay aap kay dost important hain ya mein? Yeh kaunsi space hai jo aap mujhay provide kar rahay hain? Now, all of a sudden, we are expected to believe that Sheheryaar has been a suffocating husband who never had any time for his wife and failed to give her the personal space she was entitled to? Emaan has already accused Sheheryaar of not caring about her but I wasn’t expecting her to say that he is not giving her space because after watching fourteen episodes, if there’s one thing I am really sure of, it’s the fact that Sheheryaar’s been giving her the space he wanted in return. Why do I remember that Sheheryaar gave Emaan the freedom to visit Shahnaam whenever she feels like but it was Emaan who bemoaned that her husband doesn’t want her around him? If Sheheryaar neglects Emaan and spends most of his time with his friends, why do I remember that he once cancelled his official meeting to be with Emaan? Why do I remember that Sheheryaar didn’t want Emaan to leave for Sukkur? And if Sheheryaar is really that bad a husband, why does he rise to the defense of his wife each time his family insults her in front of him? I think they are trying a little too hard to prove that Emaan doesn’t deserve to live with a guy as ‘heartless’ as Sheheryaar but I am afraid it’s not working. I find this whole Sheheryaar-mujh-se-pyar-nahe-kartay-iss-liye-mein-unhe-chor-rahi-hun thing very unconvincing and unnatural. I understand that what Emaan wants right now is a reassurance that her husband loves her. It’s not too much to ask but my question is that if Sheheryaar fails to express his feelings and confess his love the way she expects him to, is it that big a deal that she wants to end her relationship on this basis? Indeed, women are entitled to their choices and they deserve the freedom to walk out of a relationship, but Emaan’s sudden ‘determination’ to depart from Sheheryaar doesn’t make sense because her complaints about Sheheryaar are baseless; Sheheryaar never abused her or humiliated her, he didn’t cheat on Emaan, and what makes him a clear winner in my book is the fact that he is always there to console and defend his wife. Divorce is not a matter of light concern – is it true that Emaan wouldn’t have demanded a divorce if Sheheryaar had confessed his love? Our protagonists are not teenagers, for crying out loud! When Emaan asked Sheheryaar if he loves her, it almost felt like she was looking for an excuse to leave him. Like I said last week, Emaan is nowhere near the headstrong and confident woman we’d grown to love. She was levelheaded and mature, she worked on her marriage, she reasoned with Sheheryaar, she knew how to deal with her in laws, but what on earth is happening to her now? All the viewers feel for her because she is deprived of motherhood, but if we are supposed to feel for her because her husband is ‘devoid of emotion’, sorry, I just don’t buy it.

OK, now I am seriously confused! Are we sure it’s Sheheryaar we are talking about? And how can Sajal draw these conclusions about Sheheryaar? Sheheryaar is perfectly aware of what’s happening around him and this is exactly why he had a very clear conversation with Emaan last week. Bohat achi tarah say non issue ko issue bana leti ho tum! Wah! Thank you soo much for saying this, Sheheryaar – this goes for Sajal and Emaan both! I think this is the first time Sheheryaar and Sajal actually had a proper conversation in the drama! It’s good to see that Sajal doesn’t want to destroy Emaan’s home to build her own but her keen interest in Emaan and Sheheryaar’s relationship seems a little forced. It took a couple of conversations with Emaan for Sajal to figure out that Sheheryaar is being unfair to Emaan. Both these ladies are in love with Sheheryaar and yet, they are anti-Sheheryaar! Jokes aside, allow me to confess that Sajal’s character has pleasantly surprised me and it makes me happy to see that Sajal is not yet another vamp in the making. Considering Sajal and Sheheryaar’s opposition to dusri shadi, I wonder how they’ll end up getting married.

Rohail finally got to speak up this time and I agree with what he had to say about Emaan. Rohail is concerned about his son’s well being because Shahnaam is a disturbed child. Shahnaam’s mother left him when a child needs his mother the most and while Rohail was struggling to single-handedly raise his child, Emaan entered Shahnaam’s life. Shahnaam has become dependent on Emaan but Rohail believes that Emaan chooses to spend her time with Shahnaam only when she feels lonely and it worries him that once she’s gone, Shahnaam would have to cope with another emotional upheaval. When it comes to Shahnaam, Emaan gets very sensitive; she feels hurt after hearing Rohail’s reminders that she is merely a jazbaati sahara. As much as I understand that her love for Shahnaam is a major part of the story because Shahnaam is the naulakha haar of the tale, I found her concern for Shahnaam unnatural and exaggerated in this episode in particular.

Mubarak ho! Zareena is over the moon because she has finally gotten hold of the long lost jora just in time for Sajal and Sheheryaar’s wedding! Just about everything related to Zareena is so over the top – her dialogues, her excitement at discovering the dress and the actress playing the role. However, it was good to see Hajra wondering aloud that they are destroying Sheheryaar’s home and happiness, but it’s sad to see that no one else in the family is thinking that way.

How many of you are watching Mol? Are you disappointed? What do you think of the latest episode? Fire away!

Hum Tv Website Hacked In Protest on Vulgar Dramas Being Aired

0

I am sure this news will be shocking for HUM TV’s admins & fans but looks like someone else also shares the same feeling about the #boldness that has become a part of every single drama being telecast on HUM TV.

An anonymous group of hackers that identify itself as “Hexlook” has hacked HUM TV’s official website & has left quite a thought provoking note on their homepage.

I know some people would take it as an immature way of tackling the situation but in my opinion, they are at least better than those who do nothing about it & show acceptance towards the boldness that Media throws at us. Even though they really have taken a #bold step but I believe it will serve some sort of a purpose at least.

Have a look at what the Hexlook had to say:

So, what do you think about this step taken by Hexlook? Please share your thoughts with us.

Rejuvenating the Spirit of 6th September

0

“There is no power on Earth that can undo Pakistan” this statement from our Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah contains a deep meaning. It is not a simple statement but a message for all those who wants to cast evil eyes on our beloved country. For sure this country came in to existence after immense sacrifice and Quaid-e-Azam had a strong believe that this country will remain on the map till Day of Resurrection.

Pondering over 68 years of Independence Pakistan had mostly remained in a state of war; still today our armed forces are giving sacrifice to eliminate terrorism from the country setting a beacon of light for new generations. The war of 6th September 1965 against India marks among the most prominent event in the archives of Pakistan History. It was the day when our armed forces heroically hindered India’s attempt to enter into Pakistan. During the 17 days of war the whole nation and politicians were stood with armed forces as one unit leaving all their differences aside showing a perfect demonstration of Unity, Faith and Discipline.

06-september

On 6th September 1965 India launched attack on Pakistan without any warning thereby violating the international laws. When Indian troops attacked Pakistan at Waagah Border, Indian Army chief was so confident in defeating our armed forces that he announced peg of Whiskey at Lahore Gymkhana, by the help of Almighty ALLAH our army with the help of Air Force attack rolled them back. Two days later India attacked Sialkot border with heavy tanks which was also the second largest tank battle after World War 1. It was a hard fought battle which resulted in many casualties from both side but with the help of nation, our armed forces finally defeated Indian troops and the war came to an end after both countries signed peace agreement in Tashkent.

After the war of 1965 Pakistan emerged as a very powerful country and proud nation with strong believe and complete faith on its Armed forces. Every year on 6th September Pakistan pays homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in 1965 to defend our beloved from enemies especially to Army officers like Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed. Pakistan armed forces is continuously enhancing its combat facilities and today we are equipped with Fighter jets like JF Thunders, Al-Khalid tanks and influential Ballistic missiles like Hataf and Shaheen and today we are also 3rd most dangerous Atomic Power.

images (1)

Though we have complete believe on our armed forces and intelligence agencies, but still our nation is not united and we need to sort out our internal affairs. The Pseudo intellectuals and pro-Indian celebrities should be thrown out of country at once who don’t dare to utter a single word when Anti-Pakistani statements are issued from India but express their idiocy and stupidity against those Pakistanis who give rejoinders to Indian statements. This is the sole reason that gives our enemies a chance to create panic in the country. Our armed forces are still determined to make this country completely peaceful but we have to eliminate extremism from ourselves and help this country to progress economically well.

6th September should be celebrated as a day of thanksgiving. We should pray to ALLAH for strength and safety for our country and continue our support for Army and intelligence agencies, who are giving sacrifices every day to protect our sacred land.

In the end I am sharing some of my favourite Defence Day songs.

Tumhare Siwa – Episode 03!

Ohkay so, honestly speaking if you’re in a mood to watch a story & characters that lack depth, you’re definitely going to enjoy Tumhare Siwa because it’s more like a one-dimensional drama that has kick-started purposelessly. So far, 3 episodes have gone by & we only know about the situation that the leading pairs are dealing with but we have no idea about the characters & I really think that is what will prevail right till the drama’d end. I think the writer here has left a lot on us to decipher & I think we can turn the characters into whatever we’d want them to be.

As far as I could understand, Rania is an impatient person who wants things happening her way. Even though she is being impatient to save Samra’s life & she is ready to sacrifice her husband even for the sake of her best friend, but like I said, she is impatient, therefore it won’t be too long for her sympathy to turn into jealousy & then hatred because going by the promos, that’s exactly going to be her case. Just when Rania & Aazar proposed the idea to Arsal & Samra, Rania then & there grew impatient because she thought they were taking too long to come to a decision, like hello girl? You’re telling someone to wreck their own marriage & you don’t want them to think things through?

I really must say, I was shocked the way they added the bit of some Molvi Sahab with faux beard trying to tell them what to do. Like seriously, why do they always have to justify such things using religious personalities? It looked like the writer here tried to tell that he did his homework properly before writing a story that’s why a say from Molvi Sahab was much needed & also needed to justify his writing. I mean the suggestion that the Molvi Sahab gave was something that Aazar & Arsal should’ve known by themselves because that was no rocket-science like; Arsal would have to divorce Samra before Aazar could marry her but I think Molvi Sahab forgot to speak about another important part of the divorce which is ‘Iddat’. Like so many readers commented on the previous review that Samra has 2 months left as per the doctors & if she gets divorced, she’ll have to observe Iddat for 3 months 10 days, so how does this plan work for them & also it makes me question the credibility of the Molvi Sahab involved because at least he should’ve known better & he doesn’t look knowledgeable enough after not being able to highlight such an integral part of their plan.

Like it was understood, Samra didn’t give a green signal to this thought because she can’t see herself parting from her husband Arsal but Arsal is in a mood to go ahead with the plan as he can lose everything in the world but not Samra, but like excuse me, sorry to be bursting the bubble here but what’s the guarantee that Samra would recover properly after Arsal will do the Rukhsati of his Biwi with his Bachpan Ka Yaar, lol sorry but I can’t take this story seriously! So yes, what makes them think that this plan will work, yes, they are eager to save her life but I am sure as the story will progress & more negativity will slide in, that alone would be enough to snatch Samra’s life away from her, so going ahead with this sickening plan is anything but intelligent.

Honestly, the way Rania is dealing with this situation & the way she is eager to turn her best friend into her sautan made me think that she’ll be the one who’d want Samra to pay her back through her life, so she shouldn’t just push her luck because to be honest, Rania should know that she doesn’t have such a big heart to see all that happening in front of her eyes, right under her nose & her roof. I think the writer here was quite impressed with an American system of how people resort to paper marriages to deal with such legalities & how often they get themselves covered for medical insurances by getting married to random strangers but well, it’s time to wake up because this is Pakistan & things don’t roll that way. I hate to see the way they are bringing in such hideous ideas into the Pakistani market & introducing them to Pakistani viewers because no one appreciates this Mr. Writer!!! Anyways, share your thoughts on this hard-to-sit-&-watch episode people.

Cheers,

Maya Ali Is Unhappy With Television Producers

0

Maya Ali who has won many hearts by her perfect performance in the recent HUM TV hit serial “Diyar-e-Dil” had a candid chat with Maria Wasti in her Morning Show on the new TV channel “See TV”. Maria Wasti talked to Maya Ali about everything personal and things relating to her personal likes and dislikes also. While talking to Maria Wasti the young actress revealed that she was a big fan of Sanam Baloch and Faisal Qureshi. Maya Ali also said that she could only work for 12 hours anything more than that left her angry and upset. She said that she is a true Leo who gets angry quickly but her anger does not last for long.

sunrise from istanbul

Maria Wasti asked if there was one thing about Pakistan which Maya Ali would want to change to that Maya Ali replied, ” I am going to talk about the one thing which I want changed in our television industry and that is the way the producers pay the drama actors. They get the work done but do not pay you on time unless you keep on calling them again and again to remind them that they should pay you. We work hard, we should get paid for it without asking for the money.”

1

Maya Ali is not the only actress who has this problem with the producers. In one of her interviews Iffat Omer also complained that the producers never pay the actors on time.

Naml – Episode 14

0

I have to say this: this episode belonged to Faris Ghazi. He outshone even Zumar, Saadi and Hashim in this one. The episode was part two of Man Khisht ba Malika daad and had the theme of queens and diamonds as number 13. Once again Naml entranced us into itself.

                                                               ****SPOILER ALERT****

Progress

I wouldn’t go into details but here are the highlights. Faris shows Zumar what he has in the basement: he had been planning to take revenge from each and every one who was involved in sending him to jail and keeping him there (except Zumar ofcourse).  We get to learn that he is not that much ‘angry young man’ as he pretends to be, rather he just appears to be volatile in order to fool others. On the other hand, Saadi realises that Maya was playing the role of ‘good cop’ so that he would share his escape plans with her. Later on, he telephones Hashim and asks to face him if he has the courage to do so. Apparently, Saadi has his own plans to escape but pretends that he does not own his family anymore. We also meet Dr. Huma Bukhari (wife of Dr. Touqeer Bukhari) who has been Faris’s psychologist and has given false testament against him in the court. Both the Bukharis had been planning to inaugurate their own hospital (developed by corrupt means), which Faris single-handedly burns to ashes. He and Zumar also blackmail Dr. Huma into telling a few truths. Meanwhile, Zumar secretly listens to the recordings of Faris’s sessions with Dr. Huma and finds nothing to support her allegations against him. Ahmer on the other hand, investigates for Zumar and reports that it cannot be Faris who shot her. Hashim gets food poisoning and hallucinates about a girl who turns out to be Aabdar Obaid, a hypnotherapist and daughter of Haroon Obaid. Hanna and Zumar share their secrets with each other. Zumar comes to know about the secret chatting between Hanna and Hashim and gets infuriated about. They plan to notify Hashim that this conversation is not that secret and he shouldn’t dare use it against Hanna in any case. At the end of the episode, Zumar and Hanna come to know that Haleema is the secretary of Hashim and are stunned by this news.

Points to Ponder

I have several little issues to notify about this episode:

  • Who is Abdar in reality? Is she really the cute ‘red riding hood’ as portrayed in her first appearance? Or is she someone to watch out for? I seriously doubt that Hashim saw a dream of her; I think she did all this by tele-hypnosis. Also, why does Hashim get sad thinking about her? She got Sheru beaten up by her fiancé, meaning she was engaged about 5 years ago so why is she still unmarried till now? Is she the one meant for our Saadi? Although I am not usually interested in match-making but they would make a cute couple.
  • Faris turns out to be another genius in the family. He makes his own plans, executes them alone and even fools his close relations. Even Zumar is impressed by her husband’s witty ways. In the earlier episodes, we have been told time and again that Faris and Sheru are alike a lot; does this mean that Sheru will do something extra-ordinary too? I mean other than being an extra-ordinary looser at everything he does :-P
  • Hashim and Sheru discuss that Haneen is the only heir of Saadi that can claim his blood. If she dies, her husband will get the right of pardoning the murderer. I sense that this will plant a seed in Sheru’s mind to woo Haneen into liking him (Ha! Good luck with that Sheru). Or else, Hashim might try this himself, which I frankly think is not possible now.
  • One important thing is that Zumar now possesses Saadi’s keychain and pen. Hanna has Waris’s files and they both know now that Saadi went to meet Hashim on his last day with them. It is just a matter of time that these genius ladies put all this together to form Hashim’s picture. I really look forward to the day they all frame Hashim for all that he has done.
  • Ahmer started noticing Hanna. For those of us who had been hoping for this, thumbs up  She is an evil genius and he is a con, their pair would be something to watch.
  • Maryangio seems to soften up to Saadi and this might be the beginning of a comradeship between them. We all know that Saadi and Mary are the two having a clue each about Aurangzeb Kardaar’s murderer. So it was a relief for us, as together they can unmask Javahirat.
  • I totally agree with Zumar about the OCP issue. When I read that episode, it was kind of hard for me to swallow to that such an honest officer would give away something so important succumbing to a blackmailing teeanager?? May be we do not know the whole story yet, or Hanna altered some truths.
  • Oh my God, is Shehreen interested in Faris?? Lady, do something else with your life except hovering over your ex’s family. On a different note, I read in previous episodes and noticed that Shehreen already knew that Sheru likes her. Why then did she pretend to be hurt when he openly confessed? Has she been using Sheru too? Was she planning a revenge on Saadi for some reason? We can only wait and watch.
  • The way Saadi defined a Moulvi’s position was the voice of my heart. I have been wanting to raise this issue lately. In our society, we put the dumbest and most incapable child in Maddarsa, he studies in close-minded environment and then lives an under-privileged life everafter. How do we expect to have open-minded, understanding and soft-hearted Moulanas then? We need to set a lot of things right, starting with this idea of confining Islam to a particular creed called Moulvi/ Moulana. Islam is not a profession. If we are given the privilege of higher education, we should also put our efforts in spreading the Message in every way we can. I know I got carried away, but I personally think that is the reason many of the younger ones are running away from the true message and mocking Islamic values these days.

Quality Rating

The episode was fast paced as always. Character development was brilliant again, as we saw another dimension of Faris Ghazi’s crude manners.  Every episode of Naml gives you more reasons to love it. I would give an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 to episode 14.

Eagerly waiting for the next installment.
