Dil Lagi Episode 23 – Tum Jese Ho Buhat Achay Ho!

na larne ka saleeka na mohabbat ka tareeqa, ehmak kahin ke…This was a beautiful scene which started a new chapter in Anmol and Mohid’s life. The way this scene was shot was beyond remarkable. The fact that Anmol did not find Mohid standing right there when she runs out to tell him that she had fallen for him made this scene extra filmy and so much more impactful! This was another beautiful episode of Dil Lagi – one which all of us have been waiting for, for the longest time now!

Ama’s take on Anmol’s conditions made tons of sense but it delayed Mohid and Anmol’s happy ending therefore I could have easily fast forwarded that scene to find out what was going to happen next! But unfortunately the episode ended with ama announcing that they were going to take Anmol’s baraat that night. For a change the preview of the next episode was shown which proved to be a huge consolation! It suggested that we will get to see the scene we were all talking about last week in the upcoming episode…good things come to those who wait! All the servants were present there when ama asked Anmol to fulfill her condition, another detail which was quite interesting since the servants standing their and watching the ‘show’ was a big part of all the discussions the viewers here had after Mohid hit Anmol. Mehwish Hayat looked beautiful in tonight’s episode and her acting once again was impressive. Hamayun Saeed was equally remarkable in this episode just the way he has been in all the previous episodes.

na ishq ehtyat se hota hai aur na hi ishq mein ehteyat ki ja sakti hai….Imran Ashraf and Hamayun Saeed’s chemistry and their relationship with each other in this play has always been the highlight of this show. It isn’t very often that we see men sharing this kind of a bond in dramas. Kafayat Ali’s track for now was the reason why Anmol was even more convinced than ever that she was absolutely wrong about Mohid. The scene in which Anmol asks Dastagir that she wants to meet Mohid right away was one of those light hearted scenes which always give you something to smile about no matter how tense things get in this drama.

tum jese ho buhat achay ho…..Mohid has finally succeeded in winning Anmol over and this time around there are no conditions attached to keep this relationship alive. Anmol also passed the final test put before her by ama. It was great watching Anmol surrender to Mohid’s love like this, it was worth the wait! Now the real question is whether this story will have a happy ending or not! It was also refreshing watching Sabiha take a stand for her brother and bhabi.

It is time to take some inspiration from Mohid’s character and show patience because all of us have to wait another two weeks to find out whether Anmol and Mohid’s love story will end happily or not! There were plenty of happy scenes in tonight’s episode and personally I enjoyed the filmy parts of this episode the most. Faiza Iftikhar’s dialogues and the situations she creates are always a treat to watch. Nadeem Baig is a skillful director who proved yet again today that a little creativity goes a long way!

Dil Lagi Episode 22 – Amazing Dialogues, Riveting Performances

“Jub dil ka darwaza khul jaye tu chahney wale wapas aa hi jate hei” This episode of Dil Lagi focused on the aftermath of what transpired between Mohid and Anmol but this time around the viewers got to see the reaction from Anmol’s mother after she found out about the lies Anmol had been telling Mohid. Interestingly enough this episode was like a rerun of the discussion under the Dil Lagi review last week. Anmol voiced the opinion of those who sided with her, Anmol’s mother said everything which viewers who thought there was no reason to feel for Anmol said and Mohid did not plead his case at all but he once again pleaded Anmol’s case by saying that perhaps the way he asked her the question wasn’t appropriate. This proves the fact yet again that all the viewers understand these characters and always find it easy to connect to them from some perspective or the other.

Anmol once again is trying harder than ever to follow her mind and not her heart. This time around doing so is even more tough because she has fallen in love with Mohid. Anmol’s meeting with Mohid when she was on her way to see the lawyer was one of the best scenes of tonight’s episode. The dialogues and the way this scene was directed reminded me of the times when Mohid fell in love with Anmol and was trying to win her over. The big difference now is that Mohid is convinced that Anmol loves her, he can see it in her eyes but he doesn’t want her to feel defeated. Also, when Anmol calls him back after he turns to go away went to show that she did not want Mohid to give up on her, on this relationship! In the previous episode Zulekha was shown supporting Anmol and in this episode Anmol’s mother supported Mohid.

“un ka dil aap ki wakalat krta hai”…this dialogue was spot on! We have seen Mohid justifying Anmol’s unreasonable behaviour more than once. Even in this episode he was looking at things from Anmol’s perspective and justifying her actions. Just when I thought Mishal and Dastagir were not playing their roles as the “supporting characters” they did just that by doing whatever they could to once again convince Anmol how wrong she was about Mohid. Mishal stepped in and said something which was clearly shocking for Anmol when her mother was shouting at her for giving her husband a reason to doubt her. Mishal knows Mohid better than anyone else because she heard his response more than once when she proposed that he should deal with Anmol differently.

dilagi

“Adhay rastay se wapas lot aye. Mera apne faislo pe se etmad khatam hota ja raha hai.” Anmol has a big ego, she will always expect more from Mohid because it isn’t easy for someone like her to submit to her feelings therefore she will always need Mohid to keep on assuring her that he is worth it. Anmol is also extremely afraid of getting hurt which is why she is more angry with herself right now than with anyone else. Will she ever change? Even though she loves Mohid but she still continues to judge him at every step. She wants him to suffer and try harder to prove that he deserves her love, that she can trust him. Anmol’s character is complicated but perfectly etched-out. Everything she does has Anmol written all over it. Mehwish Hayat is absolutely flawless as Anmol even though it is not an easy character to translate on screen.

“Apne ghur ke darwazay kabhi band nahi hotey” was another dialogue which went to show what a big heart Mohid had. Mohid’s character is that of an intelligent man who puts his relationships above everything else; Hamayun Saeed has definitely nailed this character. It is also good to see mothers for a change who can look at things neutrally and at the end of the day all they want is their children’s happiness. Zulekha for example was not very keen on bringing Anmol back because of her “kari shart” in the beginning of this episode but later on when Mohid was going to see Anmol, she was happy. Saba Hameed’s acting and dress sense both are remarkable in this drama.

“Beghairat aur bezameer insan ko kabhi underestimate nahi krna chahyeh.” Mohid’s meeting with Kafayat Ali once again hinted that he was capable of doing anything to get what he wanted done. How many of you think that killing Mohid in the end would be a good ending? I definitely want this drama to end on a happy note because we have seen Mohid and Anmol suffering for too long. Mohid deserves a happy ending and this would be the only way for Anmol to start a new life which might give her a reason to trust people more and judge them less!

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode and don’t forget to share what kind of an ending would you like to see. Looking forward to your feedback.

Dil Lagi – Episode 9

“Aur janti hei yeh akhri hud kya hoti hai? Yeh akhri hud hi tu khudgurzi hoti hai. Wo aulad ko sukh bhi apni murzi ka dena chahti hei. Us ke dil ka sochti hi nahi!!” Dil Lagi has amazing dialogues, power-packed performances, beautiful direction and intriguing characters to its credit. The unpredictable twists and turns in this drama have always kept my interest alive. The conversations between Sabiha and Anmol had to be my favorite part of tonight’s episode. Anmol saw Sabiha crying in her weakest moment therefore it didn’t take her too long to say what was in her heart. Sabiha was clearly surprised to see that even someone like her strong and fearless bhabi had a reason to cry. For Sabiha this conversation was like a new introduction of Anmol. Just like Sabiha, Anmol feels that her mother is not supporting her the way she should and that is because both these ladies and their mothers don’t see eye to eye for obvious reasons. Although Sabiha and Anmol’s situations are completely different yet there is a good reason why these two connected in this episode. “Zarurat se ziada unche aur mehfooz qillay, qillay nahi rehte qaid khane bun jate hei.” Sabiha thinks that having a husband like Mohid makes a woman secure since such a man will never let go of his wife no matter unlike her husband who is too scared of her brother. Anmol on the other hand never wanted a dominating man in her life therefore when she had to take this desperate step only because of a man who won’t let her live her life she felt like a prisoner and not a happy bride with a strong husband who will make her feel protected.

dillagi1

Anmol’s mother avoids confrontations but she has raised not one but two daughters who are very gutsy. On the other hand Sabiha is a submissive woman who will do anything to make her marriage work but her mother believes that a woman does not need a man in her life and even if she does it can be any man at all – her theory is that there are plenty of fish in the sea therefore Sabiha does not need to cry for a man who does not deserve her. Anmol’s mother makes it clear in this episode that she was not going to welcome her in her house if she does not work on her marriage. Anmol’s reaction to what her mother did to her went to show that she genuinely thought she was justified in doing all this and she wanted her mother to understand that.

Although I don’t agree with the way Anmol is fighting this battle but it is definitely refreshing to see a woman who does not take a U-turn on the night of her wedding (remember Mannu!). At least she is sticking to her initial plan and her priorities did not change the second Mohid became her husband. Anmol is not desperate and she is not swayed away from this man’s money or charm. She has so much hatred in her heart that it will take a lot of time for her to feel anything other than hatred for the man she married. Anmol wants Mohid to hate her because it was his love for her which changed her life forever and made her feel like she wasn’t in control of her life. Anmol can easily make this marriage work because Mohid will do anything to make her happy but the way she feels about this man will never allow her to do that until those feelings change.

dillagi2

Mohid’s mother’s character continues to be an interesting character. The dialogue about the maids taking too long while saying their Zuhr prayers was hilarious – I am sure many women could relate to that. She made it very clear in tonight’s episode that she was not going to let Sabiha go back to her husband. While Anmol’s mother is justified in not supporting her daughter, Mohid’s mother is just being unfair to her daughter. Sabiha does not want something outlandish like Anmol but she just wants to live with her husband. Her mother and brother are strong enough to make sure that her husband never hurts her physically again therefore Sabiha’s mother can ensure she is safe even when she is living with her husband but now it looks like this isn’t about Sabiha’s safety and she is not looking out for her but she is only satisfying her own ego and wants to prove a point. Also, there was mention of a promise as well.

Anmol’s plan to use Fareed to make Mohid jealous has taken a very interesting turn! This latest development was the most unpredictable and exciting part of this episode which made me look forward to where this part of the story will go from here. Mohid promised Anmol that he will get her married with the love of her life, which is something that will create new problems for Anmol but give rise to some very interesting situations. The “asman se gir kr khajoor mei atak jau gi” reference was spot on! Mehwish Hayat yet again was brilliant in this episode. I have never liked her this much in any other drama. Hamayun Saeed makes me feel for his character – I definitely want Mohid to win this battle!! Asma Abbas, Saba Hameed, Uzma Hassan and the actress playing Anmol’s sister’s role are all doing complete justice to their characters. Asma Abbas and Saba Hameed are fast becoming my most favorite actors since they take up different kinds of roles and always manage to excel in them.

The dialogues in this drama are extremely powerful and brand new. I haven’t even heard some of the words which were used in this episode especially by Sabiha’s mother when she tells her she will get her a divorce and find someone else for her. The direction of this play has been top-notch right from the beginning. The make-up artist has also done a commendable job. Dil Lagi is a very different take on the usual one-sided love stories which make it an interesting play.

Dil Lagi – Episode 8

Just like all the previous episodes of Dil Lagi, this one too made me sympathize with almost all the characters in some way or the other. The way all these characters plead their cases (the conversation between Mohid and Anmol on their valima night) and the manner in which different aspects of their characters have been translated on screen makes it very easy for the viewers to understand why these characters are the way they are. Also, there are no villains or good guys in this play, that is what makes it even more interesting. You’re not sure how you would feel about a character after watching a certain episode. Although Mohid and Anmol are in what can be easily termed as a state of war but this war isn’t like any other war since it is difficult to decide who’s side you want to be on. While watching all the other plays which revolve around dysfunctional marriages it is usually easier to put the blame on one party but that is most certainly not the case here. Mohid truly did back out and he realized it was not possible to win people by using force long before Anmol decided to take this extreme step to teach him a lesson. Anmol is justified in making his life hell because she believes that he did not keep his word. Sabiha loves her husband and is willing to forgive him therefore although she is the only weak woman in this play but one does feel for her because she is not free to live her life the way she wants. Zulekha’s stance was right because she did not want her daughter to live with a man who did not give her the respect she deserved but now it seems like she is just being stubborn. It is ironic that someone like Zulekha who is all for women who do not let men rule over their lives has a bahu like Anmol!! Even with all the lectures she gives to women about their rights, she cannot seem to overcome the typical thinking which governs these relationships when it comes to dealing with her own bahu.

dillagi1This episode opened with Anmol asking the housekeeper to finish her story, while she was enjoying listening to the interesting and never ending twists and turns, she had no idea that the maid had written Mohid’s name on her palm! This scene was shot flawlessly. Mehwish Hayat’s acting in this whole episode and this scene in particular was amazing – loved the timing of her reaction and the way she desperately tried to erase that name off Ā of her hand. It also indicated that it won’t be that easy for Anmol to get rid of Mohid now that he was a permanent part of his life.

The scene between Dastagir and Mishaal was one of my most favorite scenes in tonight’s episode. It is good to see a character like that of Dastagir on screen which is both comic and very witty! Loved the answer he gave to Mishaal, it left her speechless. Imran Ashraf should definitely do more such roles.

The conversation between Mohid and Anmol on the night of their valima was very well written like always but it was too long and slightly repetitive. Anmol and Mohid both have said these things to each other over and over again. This particular conversation would have had more of an impact if it was short. The last few lines were definitely very touching and deep but the first few dialogues were the same as those which we heard in the previous two episodes as well. The timing of the OST was perfect in this particular scene which helped the viewers understand what Mohid was going through. It seemed like Anmol was a little scared too while this conversation was taking place and later on when they were sleeping. Mehwish Hayat looked stunning in the valima scene. The stylist and the make-up artists deserves due credit for giving her some very different and appealing makeovers.

dillagi2Saba Hameed was exceptional as usual although some of her scenes were very typical. Everything she said to Anmol’s mother every time she saw her was very typical and it made it seem like she was desperately trying to put her down. When Sabiha entered the room and Anmol’s mother started questions about her, the mood of the conversation and Zulekha’s attitude changed altogether. That is what makes this drama different, in any other drama this scene wouldn’t have ended like this!

Anmol devised yet another plan to make Mohid miserable. She seemed somewhat disappointed when he did not mention what he had heard and didn’t seem effected by it either. The preview of the next episode suggested that Mohid will deal with this new situation in the same cool-headed manner in which he has been dealing with everything else. Hamayun Saeed is definitely very convincing as Mohid, the fact that his dialogues have been written so beautifully helps too. He manages to get his message through loud and clear in only one line!! Dialogues like “unhe khushi dene se mei choti nahi pr jata” “dil jeetna koi khel nahi hota Anmol Ji, jung hoti hai….” and many more make you feel for and like his character.

The director has done everything he could to make this drama a visual treat. The make-up artist and the stylist also deserve a lot of credit for making the leads in particular look their best. Faiza Iftikhar has written dialogues which are very deep and extremely touching, they stay with you long after you hear them! Mohid’s dialogues had to be my favorite in this episode. I love the way Saba Hameed’s colorful and grand outfits go with the overall outlook of the haveli, I wonder if this was intentional or just a coincidence.

The preview of the next episode promises a lot of drama and I am definitely looking forward to it. How many of you watched this episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it and if you missed it, watch it on http://www.dramasonline.com

Dil Lagi – Episode 7

It did not take Anmol long to make Mohid miserable! Mohid however remained patient and knew that the only way to win Anmol’s heart was to give in completely! This episode opened with Mohid’s mother trying to cover up for her bahu’s latest adventure. Later on while Mohid’s mother gave Anmol a lecture on sharm o haya, the news of Sabiha’s disappearance came as a rude shock. Anmol obviously has no attachment with anyone in that house and she is there to make these people miserable therefore whatever she did tonight was in line with her character but it was sad to see a strong woman like Anmol who till now had used her strength for all the right purposes waste her time doing something that will not help anyone in any way.

Anmol was a working woman who was a pillar of strength for her family in every way possible but now she is just another sazishi aurat who is trying to bring people down to get back at them. Yes! Mohid made her life hell but Anmol is not doing herself a favor by wasting her talent and investing all her energy into making someone regret what they did to her. Anmol despised Mohid because he was a ghunda, which went to show that she did not have a high opinion of people who used unlawful means to get what they wanted. All of Anmol’s principles went out of the window the second she took this decision. Anmol is no longer the woman who knew the difference between right and wrong. Although she disputed the notion that everything was fair in love and war in one of the previous episodes but in this episode she proved that indeed everything was fair in love and war!!! This is Anmol’s war, she got married to someone only to make him suffer – is that really fair? Everything Anmol did tonight and even in the previous episode went to show that Mohid and Anmol really are not that different. They are both equally stubborn and they will do anything to achieve their objectives. Anmol blamed Mohid for pushing her to the point where she was left with no other choice. Right now she is seen justifying her actions because she thinks Mohid was responsible for that accident, I am wondering how she will feel when she finds out that Mohid had nothing to do with Fareed’s accident.

dl1

Fazal and Sabiha’s track got a lot of screen time in tonight’s episode and the viewers found out why Sabiha’s mother did not let her go back to her husband. We don’t know yet what exactly happened with Fazal after he was threatened of dire consequences but it was definitely something so terrifying that even today he is not willing to take his wife back. Sabiha does not blame Fazal for not taking a stand for her but she only blames her mother. The actor playing Fazal had wooden expressions and his dialogue delivery wasn’t very impressive either. Mohid did not have to try very hard to take Sabiha back home. Mohid’s conversation with his sister in the car went to show that he was only following orders and didn’t really want to do all this.

Dastagir’s scenes and his presence like always proved to be a good distraction from all the anger and hurt which seems to have taken over everyone’s life ever since Anmol decided to take this bold step. Imran Ashraf has been very impressive in this role right from the first episode. It is very difficult to make people laugh and it is even more difficult to make the viewers fall in love with a character like the one he is playing but he does it effortlessly.

dl2

Mehwish Hayat’s performance and her make-up was faultless in tonight’s episode. There wasn’t anything appealing about the fact that Anmol kept on judging Mohid and his mother while what she was doing wasn’t very right either but Mehwish Hayat nailed every single scene in tonight’s episode. Hamayun Saeed was very convincing as someone who had admitted his defeat without any reservations and was willing to surrender everything for the person he loved. Uzma Hassan is a very talented actresses but her character isn’t very interesting so far. I am however waiting to see how Sabiha’s mother ‘welcomes’ her when she goes back home.

The preview of the next episode showed that Anmol has met her match – Mohid’s mother made sure put Mehndi on her hands even if she was not willing to change her dress! It also showed that Anmol will meet Fareed in the next episode – will this meeting clear the ‘misunderstanding’ due to which Anmol got married to Mohid? Mohid’s miserable condition however suggested that things will not get better between these two even in the next episode.

Dil Lagi – Episode 6

Anmol and Mohid are finally husband and wife but this most certainly is not the beginning of a happy married life. This was another episode in which the story was driven by Anmol’s impulsive decisions. Anmol in a way has surrendered so that she can be in a position to fight a new battle. She is very certain that Mohid will not spare anyone who ‘attempts’ to marry her therefore she decided to be Mohid’s wife hence in a way Mohid won but she intends to make things very difficult for him. Anmol made it very clear that there was no place for Mohid in her heart but now she had the license to live in his house. Anmol has been shown as a very head strong girl who will not spare anyone who tries to mess her life in any way therefore her decision was driven by this instinct rather than the pressure from her mother. Her mother and sister’s future wasn’t the primary reason why she took this step but making sure that Mohid pays for his mistakes was the main motivation behind her actions. This recent development reminded me of Rana’s decision to get married to Adeel and the reason behind it. The huge difference between these two dramas however is that firstly Anmol is very different from Rana, when she says she will make someone pay for something they did, she will make sure it gets done! Secondly, although Mohid did everything in his power to force Anmol to be his life partner but once he realized he could not make someone love him, he backed out completely and most importantly he did not force Anmol to marry him on gunpoint.

dillagi1

So far we have seen Mohid’s mother being extremely flexible with her son but in tonight’s episode the viewers saw her losing her cool and for the first time she judged Anmol for her actions. She thinks that this nikkah took place solely because Anmol pressurized Mohid into it and fails to see everything that Mohid has done in the past. We also saw her trying to ensure that no one ever found out how this nikkah took place. Saba Hameed completely stole the show today with her brilliant performance. Watching her give a long lecture on ‘sadgi’ and then talking about a grand valima actually made me feel for her!! I felt for both the mothers while watching tonight’s episode more than any other character.

Sabeeha was already unhappy with her situation and now that all this has happened she thinks she has the right to do things her way too. Although the man she is involved with does not sound like the kind of man who will be able to accept her if his family is unwilling to do so but she is still willing to take this big step. Sabeeha is clearly sick and tired of living a life according to her mother’s wishes therefore she also plans to run away. The question is will Anmol help her do that? When Anmol’s friend gave her the black duppata she was covering herself with, she said it was not hers. Was it Sabeeha’s duppata?

dillagi2

This episode was very filmy; too many impulsive decisions and a heroine who went ahead and did things which most women would never even dare to do. Although Anmol’s character is very head strong and at times unreasonable but she has her vulnerabilities. She had to go ahead and get married to a man she does not love and will never love only because her actions are governed by her ego. Anmol’s derives pleasure out of getting back at people who mess with her but how happy can something like this make a person and most importantly for how long?? Mehwish Hayat once again gave a superb performance although all the decisions which Anmol took in tonight’s episode were just plain outrageous. Hamayun Saeed has managed to bring out the best in his character by showing a very soft and sensitive side of Mohid.

The preview of the next episode showed Mohid’s mother trying her best to make Anmol follow rules of her haveli but Anmol wants to set some new rules of her own.

PS: Udaari review will be posted on Monday. Thanks.

Dil Lagi – Episode 5

This was another happening episode of Dil Lagi which surely gave me a lot of reasons to look forward to more action! I watched this entire episode waiting for that one scene in which Anmol is seen entering Mohib’s house and it came at the very end!! Not fair!! I must say I loved loved loved Mehwish Hayat as Anmol tonight because in this episode apart from her jah-o-jalal we saw another side of her character. Anmol was scared of getting married to someone like Fareed and clearly fascinated by Mohid although she is too stubborn and practical to admit that just yet! In her attempt to run away from Mohid, Anmol ended up on his door step but we still don’t know if this marriage will take place or not!! Anmol did not go to Mohid’s house because she is in love with him but because she thinks he is the one responsible for Fareed’s accident and she does not want anyone to get hurt because of her any more. Anmol has made a lot of impulsive decisions in these 5 episodes and this was yet another move which was a result of anger and frustration. I must say that Hamayun Saeed (Mohid) was the star of the show tonight because I felt for him and wanted to see him happy more than any other character in tonight’s episode. All his scenes were written, directed and acted out flawlessly.

dillagi1

“Qabza sirf cheezo per kiya jata hai, malkiyat ka dawa jaidad per kiya jata hai magar dil sirf jeete jate hei.” Mohid’s conversation with Dastagir in his office showed that he had finally realized for the first time that he could not make a living and breathing person do things according to his own will. Anmol has taught him a lesson about life and people which he never got the opportunity to learn before. He is however still very sure that one day Anmol will realize just how much he loves her.

Anmol’s attitude towards Fareed clearly showed she could not stand to be near him and she decided to marry him based on the same thinking that was behind Mishaal’s engagement with Anas. She wants someone who she can intimidate, keep at bay and live her life the way she wants. Is that because this is the only way to live her life according to her own terms and conditions? Even with all these ‘rules’ she has set for herself and her sister she finds it really hard to be around Fareed and the thought of spending the rest of her life with him makes her depressed! Mishaal understands how Anmol feels because she has been engaged to one such man. Mishaal’s dialogues in this entire conversation were spot on! The way Mehwish Hayat showed Anmol’s disgust for Fareed was beyond brilliant. Her acting was top-notch in tonight’s episode and her make-up artist deserves due credit for making sure she looked fabulous on the wedding day and all through the scenes in which she wore her mayu dress. Mohid’s sister’s scenes in tonight’s episode, except the last one, showed only one side of her personality. She feels ignored and she also rightly thinks that her mother has completely different standards for Mohid. So far her character is the least appealing character in the play.

dillagi2

Mohid’s mother’s character has to be the second most appealing female character in this play after Anmol. Her double standards show her love for her son and even though you know she is being unjust you can’t help liking her character. She will do the impossible to make sure that Mohid gets what he wants. She has a very friendly relationship with him and so far she is anything but the typical mother of our heroes in every other drama. Saba Hameed always makes all her characters stand out and she has managed to dojust that in this drama too. Dastagir’s role in the play also has been a breath of fresh air unlike Bia in Mann Mayal whose over enthusiasm starts getting to you after a while! Imran Ashraf has been faultless in every single scene of all the episodes that have gone air till now.

This episode was filmy to the core; dialogues like “us jesi aik bhi mil jai na ama, mujhe bataye ka zarur” and so many more coupled with the way these scenes were directed gave it a very filmy feel. The comic dialogues and situations in the play are definitely an important part ofĀ  Dil Lagi which keep things from getting too serious.

I found the preview of the next episode slightly frustrating and my first reaction was what now???? Why does Anmol say no to maulvi sahab and why is Mohid not willing to marry Anmol instantly? Why does she have to argue with him, threaten him to make him go ahead with this nikkah? Waiting to find out the answers to all these questions.

Dil Lagi – Episode 4

“Mujhe mohabbat samaj nahi aati, mujhe sirf izzat samaj ati hai. Mohabbat na miley tu sirf dil tootta hai, agr izzat chali jaye tu asman tootta hai.” Anmol really is one-of-a-kind, she is not only strong-headed but also extremely unpredictable. All through tonight’s episode Anmol kept the viewers guessing, I am certain many other viewers out there just like me were wondering what her next move will be. Even now I am quite uncertain whether this last meeting with Mohid really was a last meeting or the final test after which Anmol was going to decide if Mohid deserved her or not. After a long time we are getting to see a heroine in our dramas who believes in finding solutions to her problems. Anmol’s confidence in herself and her values have been highlighted as an integral part of her overall personality right from the first episode.

dillagi1

Anmol however has very different standards when it comes to her sister. Mishaal’s stance that she would much rather not marry someone who does not trust her and did not have the guts to take a stand for her was absolutely right but even then Anmol did not agree with her. Does the motherly instinct take over when Anmol makes decisions for her sister? It really does look like that is the case because Anmol is quite ‘reckless’ when it comes to dealing with her own problems. She doesn’t think much about the consequences and does what she wants to do therefore in that way Mohid and Anmol are quite similar. This particular scene in which Mohid comes to Anmol’s house and later on suggests that Dastagir will marry Mishaal was one of the most entertaining scenes of the entire episode. The chemistry between all these actors and a very powerful script make every scene stand out. Dastagir’s immediate reaction to this proposal and the effect it had on him later on was hilarious! I have said this before but I feel the need to say this again that Imran Ashraf is beyond remarkable as Dastagir. He owns his role and does not falter for a second. His acting in this play is poles apart from his disappointing performance in Gul-e-Rana, which basically goes to show what a big difference an intelligent script and a good director can make. I was expecting a confrontation between Mohid and Dastagir after Mohid found out what he had done was the result of a misunderstanding communicated through Dastagir but the way this bromance has been handled in this drama is amazing! These two are inseparable and the chemistry between them makes this relationship even more relatable.

dillagi2

It took me some time to warm up to the main leads but in this episode Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed both stole the show. I felt for Mohid and was in awe of Anmol’s character. Mohid’s relationship with his mother has been shown very beautifully too. Saba Hameed’s character and the way she has translated this character on screen makes it extremely likeable. Mohid’s sister’s reaction to everything that was going on in the house went to show that her proposals or proposal was probably rejected because the boy was not part of the family or clan. Although she tries her best to make her mother realize that she has double standards but the fact is that Mohid really is maa ka ladla and she will do anything to make her son happy. So far she has not been shown as an insecure mother who thinks that her son’s wife will steal her son from her.

All the confrontations between Anmol and Mohid were beyond brilliant. Anmol hasn’t hit Mohid so far like she hit every other man who was after her but she has said plenty to him which clearly shows that she does not even have an ounce of respect for him. Unlike many other dramas nowadays these two episodes of Dil Lagi in particular were completely free of filler scenes. Every single scene and each dialogue in this episode deserved to be cherished. The only thing which made me uncomfortable was the way Mohid ‘manhandled’ Anmol. How could someone like Anmol allow him to do that? It was something that could easily have been avoided since if someone like Anmol can keep herself from hitting Mohid then the same rule should apply to Mohid as well. Overall, It was a power-packed episode and the preview of the next episode suggests there will be even more action in the upcoming episode!

Dil Lagi – Episode 3

“Mohabbat mei agr insan ki mut na mari jaye tu samjho use mohabbat nahi weham huva hai.” This episode was less filmy but it definitely had tons of substance. For the first time the characters stood out more than the actors and some of the conversations and dialogues were so impactful that they stayed with me even after I was done watching this episode. It has been a long time since I heard such powerful dialogues in a drama therefore for me this episode of Dil Lagi was a complete winner. Mohid is not going to give up on Anmol, he will do everything it takes to convince her that no one will ever love her as much as he does. He wants Anmol to fall in love with him even if it requires some effort. Anmol believes “mohabbat hone aur mohabbat krne mei buhat fark hai” but Mohid sees things differently.

dl1

The fact that Anmol is a very strong individual was reinforced yet again in tonight’s episode in a much more realistic manner. Anmol believes in moving on, finding solutions to problems and not dwelling in the past therefore we did not see Anmol giving what had happened a second thought. She also told her mother to consider it a “maslihat” and move on but at the same time she tried to fix the problem by meeting Mohid. However, Mohid’s meeting with Dastagir after he met Anmol went to show that nothing she said had an effect on him. He was under the effect of meeting the woman of his dreams in person and did not believe a word of what she said until Dastagir gave him the news that she was engaged to someone else. Anas is clearly darpok and nazuk therefore his reaction to his encounter with Mohid was very believable. The logic Anmol gave to Mishaal for getting her engaged to someone like him was rather ironic since Anmol herself is such a brave person but at the same time it went to show how practical Anmol was. She is brave but she also knows that how vulnerable they are because of the fact that there is no man who can support them.

There were many conversations in this episode which were meaningful and very well written. I loved the conversation between Mohid and his mother in which she asks him questions about Anmol. It clearly went to show that Mohid did not fall in love with Anmol’s looks but with her bold personality. Anmol’s dialogue “dur mere liye gali hai aur mujh se gali bardasht nahi hoti” Ā was totally in line with her character and this is exactly what Mohid loves about her. Deep down Anmol also knows that Mohid is much more than just a ‘barsati mendak’ but she keeps on telling herself that because if she thinks on the same lines as her mother she might be afraid of what this person can do to have her in his life.

dl2

The way Mohid’s mother summed up everything she had observed about Anmol’s family was hilarious. I absolutely love Mohid’s mother’s character and the way Saba Hameed has brought this character to life on screen is commendable. I am watching her play a very different role in drama serial Guzarish and she is equally convincing in that drama as well.

“aao mujhe daryaft karo acha laga tu fatah kur lena” … I found the references of this kind in tonight’s episode quite interesting. These witty dialogues made otherwise cheesy scenes more meaningful and added some depth to Mohid’s character as well. I have been complaining about the leads till now but I must say that in tonight’s episode there was definitely more of Anmol and Mohid – two equally interesting characters – than just Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed. Imran Ashraf was once again brilliant as Dastagir, he nailed every single scene! I can’t believe that this is the same actor who is playing Asher in Gul-e-Rana.

The preview of the next episode suggested that Mohid will send his mother to Anmol’s house once again. I am really looking forward to the next installment and hope that it will be just as enthralling as this one.

Dil Lagi – Episode 21

Aurat ki kam-akli aur jazbat ko tamancha maar ke qaboo krne wala mard hi nahi hota … Superb!!! This episode was everything I wanted to see and more! I have to admit that I was very disappointed at the way the previous episode ended since in my opinion that thappar was unjustified (it always is, no matter what) but this episode put things in perspective. Everything that Zulekha said to Mohid was on point, couldn’t agree with her more! I have always liked her character but in this episode she completely won me over. The powerful dialogues and the manner in which Saba Hameed delivered them made all her scenes a must watch. We need to see more mothers like Zulekha in our dramas who are not perfect but they have some very strong positive personality traits. She was shown as one of those mothers right from the first episode who took pride in having the perfect son but even then she did not defend Mohid’s actions in this episode which basically proved that a man can never be justified in hitting a woman.

For once I don’t see much of a reason to support Mohid although I understand that his heart was in the right place. The way he asked Anmol about her visit to the gynecologist did suggest that he was convinced what the nurse was saying was true although that was not the case but Anmol was justified in overreacting. Mohid’s side of the story however was narrated convincingly in this episode. Mohid has finally given up, too bad the fact that he hit Anmol has dinted this love story. It does prove that Mohid too is human but it would have been nice to see this love story progressing without showing Mohid lose his self control like that. It looks like something tragic might happen to Mohid and that is how this love story will come to an end – which I hope would be happy. Anmol is in love with Mohid but she will not forgive him easily therefore right now only a tragedy can bring them together – I would hate to see Mohid die!

dilagi

Gilla beti se nahi hai, gilla us se hai jis ne beta bunane ka dawa kiya tha … loved this dialogue and the entire conversation between Anmol and her mother. Anmol is no longer the person she once was, she is more willing to admit her mistakes and it is good to see a sensitive side of her character. I am glad Anmol’s mother had faith in her daughter although she knows that Anmol is not perfect but she also knows when she is hurt and needs her support. Ā jub baat kirdar tuk aa jaye tu baat khatam ho jati hai was another dialogue which hit home, for once I find it very easy to connect to Anmol’s character and everything she is going through. Although Mishal has always been the voice of reason in Anmol’s life but tonight she was just as confused as Mohid was because she has been very close to Mohid therefore she could not come into terms with what had happened. The scene between Dastagir and the new character went to show that this particular track will play an important role in taking the story forward most probably from the next episode.

This episode was on point; there wasn’t a single scene which was out of place but the ending was rather abrupt and sudden, I was expecting to see a little more at the end.Ā  Zulekha was the star of the show tonight. The best thing about the latest developments was that the misunderstanding was cleared sooner than most of us expected it to end. The timeline in tonight’s episode was slightly confusing. When Mohid was sitting next to the bridge it seemed like it was evening but there was daylight outside when Zulekha was talking to Anmol in the next scene. The opening scene and the conversation between Zulekha and Anmol at her house when she was about to leave were my favorite parts of this episode – they were written, directed and acted out beautifully. Saba Hameed and Mehwish Hayat gave brilliant performances in this episode. The fact that their scenes and dialogues were very powerful added more substance to their scenes.

Dil Lagi – Episode 20

“Mein wadaa krti bhi nahi. Waada tum jaise log kr sakte hein Mohid jo nibhana jante hun. Mujh jaise log jo apne ghusse ke agay bebas hu, unhe waday nahi krne chahyeh. Ghussa waday bhula deta hai!!” For the first time tonight I truly felt for Anmol, not because Mohid hit her but because he thought she was capable of doing something like this to hurt him. And also because this happened when Anmol was willing to make a new start after admitting to herself that she let her anger control her. Anmol of course hasn’t given Mohid much of a reason to have faith in her but until now he had the patience of a saint and now all of a sudden he does not know who and what he should believe. Anmol’s reaction was completely justified and was shown brilliantly. Everything she wrote in her letter went to prove that she had more faith in Mohid than she had in herself. She knows that she might break promises and go against her own word because when she gets upset, she has no control over herself but Mohid would never do that. At the same time Mohid’s state of mind was shown really well too. He kept on thinking about what the nurse said all day and all the things which Anmol had said to him before she married him therefore at the end of the day all he needed was a logical explanation for all that he had heard from Anmol. Anmol could not do that because she was bound by a promise, one she wanted to keep no matter what. I must say that I am dead against men hitting women in dramas no matter what therefore although Anmol left Mohid with very little choice but even then it would have been better if he threatened to hit her and Zulekha stopped them.

dillagi

The episode opened with scenes which showed Anmol truly was in love, she was willing to do much more than before for Mohid in order to show her love for him. Zulekha picked up the change in her behaviour instantly and Anmol hoped that Mohid will also read her mind. Unfortunately for her Mohid came home with a completely different frame of mind. Anmol has fallen in love with Mohid but she is still the same person she was before, she never believed in giving people explanations and she still does not. She could have persuaded Mohid without telling him the truth but she chose not to. Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed once again nailed every single scene in tonight’s episode and they were exceptional in the last scene. The last scene was also directed brilliantly except for the hitting bit of course!

“Dil sawalo ke jawab dhundne aur pahelian boojhne mei bara nikama hota hai.” This dialogue summed up Mohid’s state of mind. Sadly, Anmol is not the kind of person who believes in explaining herself to anyone therefore the situation went from bad to worse. Not only this, the way she reacted was completely in line with her character. Once again she let her anger control her which will actually give rise to an interesting situation. Will Sabiha and Zulekha do what needs to be done?? Or will the letter which Anmol wrote make Mohid question his judgment? Most importantly will Anmol forgive Mohid for the thappar??

dillagi

Zulekha in her own way pleaded Anmol’s case when Mohid came home! I am waiting to see how she will react to the latest developments. Once again all the actors gave superb performances in this episode too. Saba Hameed has an undeniable screen presence which makes all her scenes count. Anmol’s letter to Mohid was beautifully written – it covered every little aspect of her personality and was very honest! It went to show that Anmol did not develop a new personality overnight but was more willing to accept her faults and her feelings for Mohid. Zulekha and Anmol’s scene in the kitchen was the most ‘happy’ scene of this episode. The last scene was extremely powerful and it made up for the slow pace in the first half of this episode. The thappar however was uncalled for.

This episode laid the foundations for what is coming ahead. Since ARY does not show preview of the upcoming episode therefore we can only guess what is going to happen next. Zulekha did say that Sabiha was coming tomorrow therefore I am expecting Sabiha to play an important role in clearing up the misunderstanding. (xanax) We will also know how much damage this misunderstanding has done in the upcoming episode and whether it is repairable or not!!

Dil Lagi – Episode 2

Mohid is another one of those bad guys we see in our drama serials often enough who will do anything to get the girl he loves. I was really hoping that this character will be more dignified but unfortunately Mohid is also one of those men who think that a woman’s feelings don’t matter and that it is alright to force someone to spend the rest of their life with you. In tonight’s episode Mohid focused all his energy towards ‘pursuing’ Anmol in every way possible. I must say that tonight’s episode did remind of drama serial Bhai yet again and Bashar Momin too. Mohid is judged by Anmol and her family based on his actions just like Bhai and Bashar Momin’s characters. He is a ‘ghunda’, he does not deserve any respect no matter what he does to prove that he is not such a bad person after all, he will always end up doing something which will not be ‘sharif’ enough! I enjoyed the scene in which Mohid ‘gatecrashed’ Anmol’s engagement ceremony. It was filmy but it was also funny and Hamayun Saeed’s acting was spot on in that particular scene. Anmol’s expressions suggested that she wasn’t very happy with this engagement but at the same time she wouldn’t have wanted everything to end like this. Mohid has fallen head over heels in love with Anmol overnight, something we have seen in our dramas often enough therefore I am not complaining! He will do anything to make sure that Anmol does not get married to anyone else and he will continue following her too!

dillagi1

Anas was mentioned in tonight’s episode over and over again but I guess the viewers will only see him in the next episode. Unlike the last episode this episode did not focus on Anmol alone but Mohid and his family got a lot of screen time too. Anmol is used to fighting her own battles and she is not waiting for a man to save her. We saw Anmol’s slightly compromising side in this episode and I was surprised that she didn’t hit Mohid after what he did!! I couldn’t help but wonder though that why wasn’t a wise and street smart girl like her able to tell why Mohid was following her? Why didn’t she tell him off when she saw him staring at her? And most importantly why didn’t she realize that Mohid’s mother must have come with the proposal when her mentioned that someone came to their house for the said purpose on the same day Mohid told her that his mother will be coming to her house?? And why is Anmol so stunned and incapable of giving a fitting reply every time Mohid makes a pass at her? The ‘relationship’ between Mohid and Anmol is not working for me so far because Anmol is giving this man ‘special treatment’ even though she does not like him.

dillagi2

Saba Hameed yet again made her presence felt in tonight’s episode. I find her character very interesting and I absolutely love the way she has translated it on screen. One can see why a woman like her would not marry her only daughter! She probably cannot find a man who is good enough for her daughter or she thinks that her daughter cannot handle marriage/a husband just yet. She is however more than willing to marry her son off as quickly as possible and she knows her son very well too. The relationship between Mohid and his mother and the one between Imran Ashraf’s character and Mohid is right now keeping my interest alive in this drama. The chemistry between Imran Ashraf and Hamayun Saeed makes their scenes a treat to watch. Imran Ashraf completely owns his character in this drama unlike his character in Gul-e-Rana. Mohid’s character had the potential of being charming but I guess that is highly unlikely now since he comes across as an older version of Adeel. All through tonight’s episode and the previous episode as well I felt like there was more of Mehwish Hayat in this drama than Anmol.

Some of the dialogues in tonight’s episode were very witty and I enjoyed the comic bits too. The best thing about this episode was that it was free of clichĆ©s. Mohid’s mother did not complain about the class difference, in fact she did not even mention it. There are some very strong women in this play; Anmol, Mishal and Mohid’s mother are strong women who believe in speaking their mind. Out of all these three however my favorite so far is Mohid’s mother although she is far from perfect. She does tell married women to get an equal status but at the same time her own son enjoys a status far superior than that of her daughter. Dil Lagi hasn’t completely won me over yet, I was definitely expecting more from this drama. The preview of the next episode showed Mohid’s first encounter with Anas after Anmol made him believe that she was in love with this man.

Dil Lagi – Episode 19

Wow!! wow!! wow!!! This was the kind of episode which completely blows you away. Thank you team Dil Lagi for an amazing episode which I will be watching over and over again!! This episode was extremely emotional, entertaining and like every other episode of Dil Lagi it had some amazing dialogues to its credit. Waiting another week to see what is going to happen next is going to be torturous.

Anmol is finally in love with Mohid and for a change this change of heart wasn’t something that happened abruptly at the last minute as is the case with many other dramas. Anmol took her time and when she realized her feelings for Mohid were changing she was seen questioning her own self – this was my most favorite part. Tonight for the first time it seemed like Anmol was judging herself for a change – questioning whether she really deserved all this love or respect because she always criticized Mohid and even Zulekha. She never expected both of them to be fair with her but tonight she was proven wrong. Not only was she convinced that Mohid wasn’t the person she thought he was but when Zulekha accepted that she really was ‘anmol’ , she was taken aback and the look on her face showed that she had realized just how wrong she was.

dil lagi

At the beginning of this episode Anmol was her old self, the person who was bent on doubting Mohid’s intentions and judging his action every step of the way. The change of heart started when Mohid did things big and small to show how much he loved and respected her mother. What Anmol’s mother said to her would have fallen on deaf ears yet again had she not found out what Mohid had done for Sabiha. While Anmol had a difficult time giving Mohid the credit he rightly deserved, Mohid just like always was very generous while appreciating Anmol’s efforts. Anmol can finally see Mohid for who he is but the discovery Mohid made at the end of the episode is going to create a big misunderstanding which might not be easy to resolve but even then there is still room for a lot of emotional scenarios in which ama can prove that she too can do something extraordinary for Anmol. Hamayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat nailed every single scene in tonight’s episode. Their on screen chemistry coupled with the brilliant direction and those amazing dialogues made every scene a treat to watch. It isn’t very often that actors look as good as Hamayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat look in those close-ups. The credit for this goes to the director for the perfect camera work and the make-up artist for the perfect makeovers.

The scene in which Fazal asked Zulekha for forgiveness was the most emotional scene of this episode. The credit for this clearly goes to the director and the writer for making this scene work. Saba Hameed is always spot on therefore she contributed in making this scene a success but the fact is that the actor playing Fazal cannot act to save his life. Even with his flat expressions the situation, dialogues and the way this scene was shot was so remarkable that the flat expressions went almost unnoticed. This was the perfect ending for Sabiha and Fazal. Even someone like me who could never really connect to Sabiha’s character felt so emotional while watching this scene. This was the kind of scene which makes you teary eyed even when you are not entirely involved in a particular track. This scene started with Fazal being very hesitant and Sabiha playing the role of a mediator between Fazal and her mother but when Mohid came Fazal had the confidence to ask Zulekha for forgiveness and was even willing to do what she had asked her to do so many years back. Had Fazal taken Sabiha without having this conversation with Zulekha, this situation wouldn’t have been as perfect as it was.

The scene between Mishal and Anmol was very filmy but quite apt! Only Mishal could have helped Anmol figure out how she actually felt otherwise she would have been remained confused. Dastagir and Mishal are headed towards their happy ending as well. There was a time when it was impossible to picture Dastagir studying and taking these exams but Mishal has proved that behind every ‘educated’ man there is a woman too! Mishal and Dastagir compliment each other. Imran Ashraf has been brilliant as Dastagir throughout the play, I never thought he had it in him! A quality script and a gifted director can bring out the best in any actor who is talented.

Although this episode was full of dhuwandaar dialogues but these two were my favorite,

“Nai ji utha tha.” (those of you who watched this episode will understand why I loved this dialogue!!)

Ā “Kabhi tum ghalt fehmiyo mei rehti ho, kabhi uljhan mei rehti ho. Itni jaga di hui hai tumhei is dil mei, wahan kyu nahi rehti?” (yes sounds super cheesy but trust me you will fall in love with it too when you watch Mohid delivering these dialogues with utmost certainty!)

I would give this episode 10 out of 10, I loved every bit of it. Dil Lagi proves that a love story can be very appealing if it is free of clichĆ©s! Faiza Iftikhar has in her own way questioned a lot of dialogues and phrases which are used in love stories all the time. In this episode in a very subtle yet apt manner she questioned the whole concept of ‘mur mitna’! The leading characters of this story and the scenarios are always very different from what we usually see in our dramas which make them interesting. Nadeem Baig is a very creative director who knows exactly how to translate all the emotions on screen without making the scenes over dramatic. Also, the OST is always used when it is needed and the way the close-ups are taken is very daring but when the director knows what he is doing then the final product is as superb as this play and this episode in particular.

This episode transported me to another world and I am still waiting to land one earth;) How many of you loved this episode just as much as I did? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Dil Lagi – Episode 18

One thing that has remained constant throughout this play is the positivity in Mohid’s character. I think Mohid is one of his kind because he is intelligent enough to know exactly what is going on yet he chooses to have a big heart and he stays positive. I can’t remember another hero in our dramas who changed so much and redefined his philosophy of life only because he fell in love. Falling in love with Anmol has changed Mohid in a good way. Although Anmol is a very bitter and rigid person who chooses to judge Mohid based on his first impression but Mohid very generously overlooks all her flaws and pays heed to every good advice that she gives him. Another characteristic of Mohid’s character that makes him stand out is that he is not at all judgmental. When he saw Anmol talking to that man on the street and later on when he overheard what she is saying on the phone, he did not for a second think that Anmol might be doing something wrong but he thought she probably needed his help and was not asking for it. It was only after Anmol made Mohid realize that he needed to take a stand for Sabiha that he decided he needed to do something for his sister. Mohid loves Anmol, he respects her but he is not blind to her flaws, he accepts and loves her for who she is which is something truly daring for a hero of a Pakistani drama!!! So yes!! after giving us so many strong female leads and supporting characters, Faiza Iftikhar has set a new precedent by giving us a hero who loves his wife unconditionally and is a very strong man who accepts a woman for who she is even though Anmol isn’t the perfect package. For once, the man in the relationship is doing more than the woman which is truly refreshing. Hamayun Saeed has translated this character flawlessly on screen and none of the other actors from the younger lot would have been able to add the kind of X-factor which he has added to this character. His manly aura definitely fits this character.

dillagi

Anmol proved in tonight’s episode that she was quite capable of going out of her way to help someone by having that conversation with the doctor and making sure that Sabiha gets to keep her baby. The way everything worked in favor of Sabiha and Fazal was very convincing. It was also good to see Mohid’s mother worrying about what her son might think if he ever found out what she was about to do. She is the kind of person who does not like letting people down especially those who expect a lot from her down whether it is her son or those women who come to her to seek advice.

Anmol’s conversation with the maid in the beginning of the episode suggested that she was eager to know more about Mohid, it looked like she didn’t mind changing her opinion of him but the second the maid said things which would have given her a reason to change her mind, she decided to end the conversation. What is Anmol afraid of?? Is she afraid of being proven wrong? Is she scared of finding out that Mohid isn’t such a bad person after all? Later on her conversation with her sister suggested something completely different. Somehow Anmol wants to hold on to the first impression she had of Mohid. Anmol’s conversation with the nurse and Dastagir’s curiosity to find out what was going on might lead to another big misunderstanding between Mohid and Anmol. Although Mohid told Dastagir that he didn’t want him to follow Anmol but Dastagir is so eager to solve Mohid’s problems that he will continue investigating and he might end up with the wrong kind of information.

dillagi

Anmol keeps you guessing – one minute it looks like she might soften up but the next minute she is seen planning an escape! Right now Mohid just wants to see Anmol happy, he is not focusing on winning her over. Anmol’s character is also very interesting, she is very rigid but she proved yet again that sometimes she uses this strength to help people too. Had Anmol not found Fazal and talked to the doctor, things would have been very different. Mehwish Hayat owns her character, I love her confidence and the fact that she knows exactly what is expected from her. Saba Hameed is another actress who adds something new to every role she plays, she is a natural and a very powerful performer.

This was a beautiful episode, beautifully written, beautifully shot and brilliantly acted out. The productions values and direction of this drama has been top-notch. Every episode of Dil Lagi is a visual treat filled with meaningful conversations and powerful performances. Another aspect of this play which makes it very enticing is the fact that the story is very unpredictable.

Dil Lagi – Episode 17

I have always enjoyed the dialogues and the conversations in this play especially the ones between Anmol and Mohid, this episode had plenty of those meaningful conversations therefore it was a complete winner for me. Mohid deserves to be loved and cherished – something that is becoming more apparent with every passing episode. It is refreshing to watch a drama in which the viewers get to side with the hero for a change without any reservations. Anmol and Zulekha’s conversation about her double standards was also on point; it was written and shot flawlessly. For a second it seemed like Zulekha might hit Anmol but I am so glad that it didn’t go that way. In fact it seemed like Zulekha did pay heed to what Anmol said to her but Sabiha’s frame of mind at that given moment was completely different therefore she didn’t have a reason to doubt what she was planning to do. This episode was jam packed with scenes which you want to watch over and over again because every scene was picture perfect; beautifully written, directed perfectly and the chemistry between all these actors is simply mind blowing. My favorite scene from tonight’s episode had to be the one in which Mohid walks in the jewelry shop when Anmol is selling her jewelry. It was very well written and it was directed so well that it did not look like a scene from a drama at all but a real moment captured on lens. It was one of those very few scenes between Mohid and Anmol which every woman who has a difficulty asking her husband for money would have been able to relate to especially because in the end Anmol decided to take money from Mohid.

dillagi

In this episode as well Anmol was too busy hating Mohid to see his good points but there were at least three instances when she did look surprised with what she had discovered about her husband. She seemed to ‘like’ Mohid for a few seconds maybe when he gave her the ATM card without asking any questions and also when Sabiha told her what he had promised and how he felt about his mother, Anmol seemed to be slightly surprised. Also, I loved the way the confrontation between Anmol and Zulekha ended – indeed Zulekha might have tons of flaws but she has most certainly brought up a son who will never hit a woman. There was a good reason why Anmol had to end the argument here. When the driver however told her that Mohid paid the dues of his children’s schools, she did not give it a second thought.

Mohid once again is convinced that he is fighting a lost battle. He has given up therefore it is easier for him to come into terms with what he thinks is true. Once again Mohid is willing to leave Anmol for Fareed, he also tried to tell her that in hidden words but in the next episode he will ask her directly. The issues between Mohid and Anmol remain the same. Also, like all the previous episode their roles did not change either but watching them interact and those meaningful discussions is always a treat. The chemistry between Hamayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat and the way these scenes have been shot make them extra special. I was however not too happy about the fact that Mohid’s ‘haram ki kamai’ misunderstanding was not cleared in this episode. There was a perfect opportunity for Mohid to tell Anmol what exactly he did but he didn’t say much. Anmol is desperate to get Fareed out of her life –Ā  I am waiting to see how this particular track unravels. Will it create even more misunderstandings between Mohid and Anmol? Dastagir and Mishal’s tracks is sweet, they got slightly less screen time in tonight’s episode but it was good to see Dastagir doing something practical to please Mishal. It was also interesting to watch Mishal pretend like she didn’t care when she really does want him in her life.

dillagi2

Sabiha and Fazal’s track finally moved forward in this episode. Afzal has been unable to muster up the courage to approach Zulekha or Mohid but he is trying and Sabiha knows it. I love how Zulekha’s dialogues have been written and the way Saba Hameed has brought this character to life on screen. The preview of the next episode suggested that there might be some major developments in this track in the next episode.

Tonight’s episode was the kind of episode you can watch over and over again. Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed’s chemistry, the beautiful dialogues written by Faiza Iftikhar, Nadeem Baig’s direction and the great production values make Dil Lagi a must watch play. The beautiful colors in the background and attention to the tiniest details make every scene very well-crafted.

Dil Lagi – Episode 16

The story is moving forward at a slow pace at this point. Something new happens in every episode, the characters keep your interest alive, the situations are entertaining but I do feel like things are not moving forward fast enough; too much talking and very little action is the best way to describe Dil Lagi’s pace this week. There is a little bit of development in every track with every episode but Mohid and Anmol’s story has come to a standstill. Anmol is completely ‘distracted’ at the moment because she has better things to worry about and making her marriage work of course was never a priority with her but her attempts to help Sabiha as well have once again created another misunderstanding between her and Mohid.

Anmol’s chance meeting with Fareed was basically meant to create an even deeper misunderstanding between her and Mohid – can the situation between these two get any worse? I am certain you will all agree with me when I say – not possible!!! Anmol and Mohid’s love story is definitely very interesting but unfortunately there has been absolutely no change in the ‘status quo’ ever since they got married. Mohid continues to be the understanding spouse who will give his wife unconditional support and Anmol tries harder to be as unreasonable as she can be with every passing episode. If Anmol’s feelings for Mohid are going to change gradually and not overnight then now is the time to show those changes. The only time Anmol gave something Mohid said some consideration was when the pigeons came back and Mohid told her something about love and life. Other than that Anmol has never even given anything Mohid has said a second thought. While things are moving forward as far as Mishal and Dastagir’s track is concerned, Anmol and Mohid still stands where they were months ago. I have started wondering now if Mohid will be able to win over Anmol or not and if he doesn’t then it would be somewhat disappointing. The ‘ Jaise mout ko samne dekh kr murdaar bhi halal ho jata hai’ dialogue was funny. Mohid talked about khush fehmi again in this episode, it is something minute but it goes to show how well written this character is. There are some traits which are very well defined and make his character more likeable. Mehwish Hayat, Hamayun Saeed and even the actor playing Fareed all have done complete justice to their characters. Imran Ashraf makes you smile every time he appears on screen.

dillagi1

The scene in which Anmol tried to scare Fareed off was very interesting. The fact that she wants to help him financially now so that he is out of her life for good went to show just how desperate she was to get rid of him. This does prove one thing that she would much rather be with Mohid than Fareed whether she would like to admit it or not. Anmol’s conversation with Mishal also went to show that she genuinely wanted Sabiha’s troubles to be over. Saba Hameed is beyond exceptional in this role – love the way she completely steals the show in every single episode with her screen presence. Our other hero Dastagir is all set to prove himself to Mishal – I like where this track is going. Mishal’s dialogue about insani hamdardi was spot on!

The brilliant acting, superb direction and all the interesting situations definitely make every episode of Dil Lagi worth watching but am I the only one who is losing patience fast especially as far as Mohid and Anmol’s track is concerned? Is there anyone else who is tired of watching Mohid suffer in silence? Will Anmol’s feelings for Mohid ever change? I am waiting to find out!

The preview of the next episode showed some serious confrontations between Anmol and Mohid’s mother and Mohid telling Anmol that she was free to do whatever she wanted. How many of you watched this latest installment? Do share your thoughts about it.

Dil Lagi – Episode 15

After watching so many episodes which were filled with scenes in which Mohid and Anmol got a chance to ‘discover’ each other, this episode seemed incomplete without those interactions and conversations. Tonight’s episode did cover Mohid and Anmol’s relationship but there was hardly any interaction between the two. Anmol’s sole mission in life right now is to make sure that Sabiha and Fazal can somehow sort things out and live a ‘normal’ life. Therefore she had very little time to play games which quite rightly seemed odd to Mohid. At the same time Dastagir’s information regarding Fareed gave him even more of a reason to question the whole situation. Mohid once again turned to Mishal for consolation but Mishal’s ‘interpretation’ of Anmol’s feelings for Mohid made him doubt what she had said earlier about Anmol’s feelings for Fareed. This particular misunderstanding was covered flawlessly. Anmol is distracted, she is not being her old self with Mohid and for once she did not use a perfect opportunity to make Mohid jealous. Mohid has no idea what is going on, all the ‘clues’ are pointing towards something he was not expecting therefore yet again he is feeling insecure. All this time when Anmol was trying so hard to make Mohid jealous, he took everything very lightly and now that she isn’t even trying, he thinks she might be planning something which will effect their relationship in a bad way.

dillagi1_Fotor

Although Dastagir and Mishal joined hands to bring Anmol and Mohid together but there is very little that they have managed to achieve so far. Dastagir’s proposal was definitely surprising and Mishal’s reply was even more so. Mishal knew all along that Dastagir liked her but I wasn’t expecting her to take this proposal so seriously. At some point Mishal must have started liking Dastagir too but till the last episode it felt like he was nothing more than a ‘Fareed’ to her who she was only associating with because she wanted to bring Mohid and Anmol together. Mishal’s reply might have been rather unexpected but it has given an interesting twist to this track. Will Dastagir actually try to do something to fulfill Mishal’s demands? Dastagir’s dialogues as usual and the acting by Imran Ashraf was the best part of this episode.

Saba Hameed was scary tonight as the ama with a very bruised ego who did not like it when she was not in control! The scenes with her and Sabiha in them were seriously upsetting. She thinks she is doing what is best for her daughter but this time around she crossed the line. Unfortunately, she has very little respect for what her daughter wants. She made Sabiha leave her husband because he did not respect her but now she is the one who is proving through her actions that she has absolutely no respect for her daughter’s feeling. She can easily find Fazal if she asks Mohid to help her but she intends to stick to her unreasonable decision no matter what. Also, the fact that she hid Sabiha’s phone goes to show that she does not want Fazal to get in touch with her either. Sabiha’s crying started getting to me after a while, although it was justified in her situation but even then in a drama with so many strong women Sabiha’s character is sticking out like a sore thumb! Fazal’s character is equally weak and the acting isn’t very impressive either.

dillagi2_Fotor

Just like every other episode of Dil Lagi, this one too was visually pleasing. The attention to detail and the use of beautiful colors makes every scene a treat to watch. Anmol’s character for once was very likeable in this episode and definitely more refreshing too since her positive and helpful attitude made this episode less depressing. Otherwise Ama’s unreasonable attitude, Sabiha’s helplessness and Mohid’s depression would have made this episode very sad. Mehwish Hayat has proved in this serial that she is incredibly talented, she is very well suited for this role. Her acting is always effortless and natural. Hamayun Saeed once again made it very easy for me to connect to his character. I felt for Mohid every step of the way. There are very few male leads which make you feel that way; the credit for this goes to the writer as well for etching out a character which is so likeable. Mohid’s dialogues are always heart touching. “Mohabbat insan ko buhat kamzor, wehmi aur buzdil bana deti hai” had to be my favorite dialogue from this episode because it summed up the change in Mohib’s character brilliantly.

Dil Lagi – Episode 14

Dil Lagi continues to be a very ‘intelligently’ written play which has been directed beautifully. The crackling chemistry between the leads and Mohid’s faith in his love for Anmol makes this love story extremely enticing. After every episode of Dil Lagi the viewers are left wondering what will happen next. Director Nadeem Baig has made the most of his magical spark and the writer Faiza Iftikhar has given the viewers a much-needed break from the bechari aurat scenario. Although Anmol is another extreme but it is always refreshing to watch a woman on screen who has problem solving capabilities and does not depend on a man all the time. I always find myself rooting for Mohid most of the times but only because of Anmol! Had Anmol not been so full of hate, things would have been different. There are also times when Anmol is very cute especially when she does not get her own way. Both these characters compliment each other. What makes Mohid’s character different is the fact that although he is too nice and soft with Anmol but that isn’t because he is a fool. He is a very wise man who knows exactly what is going on and is tackling the situation in this way only because he loves Anmol. Also, the fact that he makes sure he makes Anmol ‘miserable’ every now and then in his own way makes his character even more interesting. In fact all the characters in this play do not lack basic common sense – yes! it is a rarity these days – all of these characters are wise individuals. Also, not once has the writer banked on coincidences to take the story forward.

Coming to tonight’s episode, the first scene of the episode was predictable but definitely worth the wait! Anmol has a great deal to learn about love and from this scene it looked like slowly but surely Mohid is teaching her something new every day! Anmol wasn’t expecting these pigeons to come back and the way Mohid explained the reason why they came back, left Anmol dumbfounded! Mohid’s words and the love these birds have for him made Anmol pause and think for a change. Although this particular conversation did not change anything but it was good to see Anmol giving something which Mohid said a second thought! The writer has not banked on coincidences but this story rests heavily on a huge misunderstanding. Anmol still thinks Mohid is involved in unlawful activities. Her conversation with Dastagir did not help clear this misunderstanding but it was a very interesting conversation! Mehwish Hayat owns her character as Anmol, she is phenomenal in every scene. I have already praised Imran Ashraf enough in my previous reviews but every episode makes me like him even more. Only a director like Nadeem Baig could have a shot a scene like the one in which Dastagir was drinking the juice so brilliantly; the noise in the background, the camera work and especially the timing with which those dialogues were delivered and the way that scene ended was just plain genius! These little details have added life to all the scenes. Also, the freshly painted carts, walls and other backgrounds make every scene visually pleasing without making it look like too much effort was put into making everything look ‘perfect’!

dl1

Once again in this episode too Mohid was a clear winner but right now Anmol is on another mission. It seems like she is genuinely interested in helping Sabiha out. Anmol and Sabiha’s relationship is gradually becoming more interesting. You want to believe that Anmol is no longer using Sabiha but wants to see her happy although it is a little difficult to believe something like that about her! Sabiha is too scared to tell her mother what is going on but Zulekha of course is clever enough to put two and two together. Zulekha’s character is another one which always gives you something to remember. She might have backed out for a while but she is back to teaching her daughter in law the rules of the house – not that she is listening but Zulekha does not give up and always has an argument as solid as that of Anmol’s! I loved Anmol’s dialogues regarding housework – someone really needed to say that!!! And for once I agree with her completely! Why should the bahu work when there are so many servants in the house.

Mohid continued to make sure that this relationship and the ‘war’ between Anmol and him did not get too serious!! He is definitely making sure he does not surrender but at the same time he is only defending himself right now and not doing anything that will offend/insult Anmol in any way! It is great to see an intelligent hero who is not blinded by his love for the heroine but loves her with all her flaws! I also love the way Faiza Iftikhar has given a new meaning to some old and extremely popular phrases! So far she has given a new meaning to the phrase “love is blind” and also “everything is fair in love and war” and the interpretations are spot on! Hamayun Saeed continues to give top quality performance in every episode. Most importantly he has added the X factor to his character which helps in making Mohid’s character even more charming.

dl1

Mishal and Dastagir’s nok jhok just like always was very entertaining. “aik number ka du number insan” dialogue was hilarious and their conversations like always had a good flow. This might seem completely out of context but I really feel the need to say this – the way Anmol and Mohid enjoy their food in this drama makes you crave for whatever they are eating even if you are watching an episode right after dinner time! Usually actors avoid eating and delivering dialogues at the same time and usually they only take a bite at the most but that is not the case here! These two love their food and can eat it in a way that is pleasing to the eyes and they deliver their dialogues effortlessly while they are at it! Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed should be part of some food campaign;) How many people wanted to eat that biryani and those oranges tonight ;) ?

With this episode many of the characters have embarked on a new journey; Anmol is going to find Fazal, Zulekha has something ‘extreme’ planned for Sabiha and Dastagir and Mishal are finally on the same page even though they don’t always agree! I am also wondering if Mohid will do something with the information which the driver gave him at the end of this episode. The fact that ARY does not show a preview of the next episode right after the episode ends makes it impossible to guess what will happen next!

Every episode of Dil Lagi is enthralling; every episode gives you tons to look forward to and the script, direction and acting never disappoints you. How many of you watched this episode? Please share your thoughts about it.

Dil Lagi – Episode 13

“Jub koi acha lagta hai tu us ka bura bhi acha hi lagta hai. Mohabbat andhi nahi faragh dil hoti hai, aaib dekhti hai magar nazar andaz kar deti hai!” After watching this episode of Dil Lagi I don’t have the words to praise Nadeem Baig’s direction in particular and Faiza Iftikhar’s script which deserved to be directed with such dedication. This play is a visual treat; the sets, the clothes which the actors wear, the camera work and the picture quality especially in this episode was simply flawless! All the beautiful colors in the background, on the rooftops, those which the actors wear are definitely a deliberate attempt to make this drama visually pleasing and the director has definitely succeeded in doing so. Having said that I must add that the direction and camerawork alone cannot save the day if the script lacks depth and meaning. Like many other scripts written by Faiza Iftikhar, this one too has plenty of situations and surprises in store which are not over-dramatic but truly impactful! It is good to know that there are directors and writers out there who realize that we expect more from them than a stellar cast and beautiful locations. This episode had a few scenes which could qualify as somewhat clichĆ©d but the bits which were anything but clichĆ©d like always managed to stand out more than the dialogues uttered by Anmol’s mother in this episode especially because the context is completely different from what we see normally in dramas.

dillagi1

Mohid’s character is turning out to be very balanced and likeable. Unlike Anmol he believes in soul-searching. He knows that Anmol lied about her love affair with Fareed even then he does not judge her primarily because he loves her. When Anmol questions him about his priorities he pauses to think about what she said and in the morning he also pleads Sabiha’s case in front of his mother. Also, although he has been brought up by a mother who holds him very dear but he does not have an inflated ego. There was a time when Mohid thought it was alright to do whatever he needed to do in order to get what he wanted but Anmol has taught him many things which he would not have learned otherwise. Anmol, of course does not believe in practicing what she preaches. The character development has been convincing and has made this character more appealing. Hamayun Saeed is very convincing in this role, he has made Mohid’s conviction in his love for Anmol very relatable.

Although Anmol is still as stubborn as she was in the first episode but there are times when she has to be slightly flexible. My most favorite part of this episode was when Anmol decided to free Mohid’s pigeons! I could totally see that coming when Mohid’s mother mentioned how dear these pigeons were to him even then I was left wondering if Anmol would have the guts to take such a step. Now the question is whether these pigeons really want to be free?? Or do they love Mohid so much that they will return!! I am looking forward to Anmol’s reaction and the conversation between Mohid and Anmol in the next episode already! This was one of the many scenes in tonight’s episode which was beautifully shot. The expressions on Anmol’s face said more than any words could!

dillagi2

Tonight both the mothers in the drama decided to take charge at the same time! After Anmol’s mother made her promise that she will not brainwash Sabiha to go against her mother’s wishes, Mohid’s mother made sure that her bahu took care of her son. Anmol felt helpless and decided to do something that would make Mohid upset. The conversation between Mohid’s mother and Dastagir in tonight’s episode went to show that Mohid wasn’t really the rough and tough person he appears to be. It also showed that Mohid was taking payments from people who had rented properties owned by them and wasn’t doing anything unlawful.

“Mohabbat nahi ho sakti koshish karne se aur na karwaye ja sakti hai. Ā Yeh tu wahi ki tarah hoti hai, Aasman se utrti hai kub kis se kahan kese ho jaye, yeh koi nahi janta.” Mishaal and Dastagir’s brief scene together made this episode complete. It is truly refreshing to watch a drama in which all the characters get the screen time they deserve and their stories are being taken forward gradually. Mariam Ansari is doing complete justice to her role and Imran Ashraf is adorable as Dastagir. The conversation between Mohid and Dastagir was also beautifully written, it was definitely one of those scenes that deserve to be watched over and over again! There was a major development in Sabiha’s track in this episode too. It remains to be seen how her mother reacts to this latest development.

I must say that Dil Lagi is much more entertaining now that Anmol is not getting her way! Loved the expressions on her face when she ran to the rooftop to see how Mohid would react when he doesn’t find his pigeons there! Can’t wait to see what happens next. Like every other episode of Dil Lagi this one too had some remarkable dialogues and beautiful conversations to its credit which stay with you long after you’re done watching the show. The director Nadeem Baig has turned this drama into a masterpiece by details which we rarely get to see in dramas. The person in charge of editing has also done his job really well. Anmol and Mohid’s story is getting more interesting with every episode. At this point Mohid is way ahead of the game because he is not focusing on scoring points!

Dil Lagi – Episode 12

This episode focused on Sabiha’s track just as much as it did on Mohid and Anmol’s. It seems like there is finally going to be some development in Sabiha’s track. The most important aspect of tonight’s episode was that Anmol revealed her true intentions behind ‘helping’ Sabiha. Anmol’s selfish reasons for asking Sabiha to take a stand for herself and do something against her mother and brother’s wishes were obvious in the previous episode as well but in this episode she made it quite clear that she did not want Sabiha to be happy, she only wanted to see Mohid and his mother suffering. It is ironic that Mohid has been able to convince everyone else in Anmol’s house that he only wants to make his marriage work and does not want to play games but Anmol is the only one who remains unconvinced. Mohid did not succeed in making Anmol confess that she was lying all along but it was definitely good to see her feeling annoyed and frustrated.

Anmol’s mother’s character has to be one of my most favorite characters in the play. She always makes sure that she tells Anmol why she is wrong with logic and reason. The viewers find it easy to connect to her because she is one of those very few on-screen mothers who do not want their daughters to make their marriages work because they are scared of people or what they will say. She knows that her daughter is at fault and that is the reason why she wants to make her realize that things are not the way she sees them.

dillagi1

The ‘supporting characters’ in this play have definitely been playing a very important role right from the start and except for Sabiha all of them are very interesting. Mohid’s mother has taken a backseat after realizing that Anmol will never listen to her – thankfully this track isn’t one of those typical saas-bahu tracks in which the saas feels that it is her mission in life is to make her bahu’s life hell!! I cannot praise Dastagir and Imran Ashraf enough; his love and sincerity for Mohid coupled with his amazing sense of humor makes his character one-of-a-kind. He is the sort of friend /brother/partner everyone wishes for and he comes with a very pleasant personality. Imran Ashraf’s acting has been top-notch right from the start. If he had gone overboard, this character wouldn’t have been as likeable as it is now. For the first time tonight, the viewers got to see Mishal and Dastagir having a ‘normal’ conversation and I must say that these two have made-for-each-other written all over them!!

Anmol continued to justify her actions based on everything that had happened in the past. While Mishal and her mother have forgiven, forgotten and moved on, Anmol finds it impossible to do so. The reality checks from her mother make her feel like a victim – she cannot tell why her mother cannot see that Mohid deserves to be miserable. These scenes in which Anmol’s mother tries to make her understand how wrong she is and Anmol reacts by crying or justifying her actions have been written beautifully and directed superbly. Mehwish Hayat is always very convincing in these scenes because of which I never have a problem relating to how Anmol feels, her expressions say it all! Anmol hasn’t questioned her actions ever even once therefore Ā she finds it impossible to believe that her mother finds everything about her actions so wrong.

dillagi2

“Tumhare dil ki murad mei aise kisi sahare ke beghair puri kr du ga.” The scene in which Mohid gets up to get water and every other scene in which Anmol feels frustrated and scared was hilarious! I am sure I am not the only one who loves Mohid’s new found confidence. Hamayun Saeed makes you feel for his character and the fact that this character is so well written helps too! The opening scene at the shrine was beautifully shot yet again, the director Nadeem Baig made the most of this location. “Maaei tu sub ki sanjhi hoti hei” scene yet again proved that a good director and a good script can bring out the best in an actor! The actor we all found highly unimpressive as Asher in Gul-e-Rana manages to steal the show every time in this play! For the first time we saw a man being ‘accused’ of not being able to give his wife children – now that was something brand new which could only have come from someone like Sabiha’s mother! Saba Hameed continues to be faultless in every scene. Asma Abbas manages to fit into every role like it was written for her, she is very versatile and immensely talented.

This episode of Dil Lagi was entertaining; this drama has it all, the right kind of emotions and it makes you laugh! It isn’t easy writing or directing a play which is dead serious and funny at the same time. The emotions of the people in this drama are not a joke but the situations can be so funny most of the times. Mohid is fighting a real battle and he needs to win it, Anmol takes her ‘struggles’ very very seriously yet their scenes together are always funny in some way. Thank you team Dil Lagi for another remarkable episode.

P.S: Readers who want to discuss religious matters in particular are requested to find an appropriate forum online and discuss such matters there. This thread is only for drama serial Dil Lagi – just in case there is any confusion – and there is absolutely no need to drag religion into Mohid/Anmol’s relationship or anything else!!! I managed to discuss the whole episode without bringing Islam into the discussion, I am sure we can all do that.

Dil Lagi – Episode 11

This was a beautifully shot episode with so many wondrous moments. I am sure some viewers will be very tempted to talk about how right or wrong it is to go to shrines, I personally feel that there was much more to this episode than just that therefore I would appreciate it if we discuss the developments in the story, acting and direction instead of sticking to that one topic!!

This episode opened with Mishaal refusing to accept Dastagir’s offer to drop her back home. The dialogue about the smirk on Dastagir’s face was very true and funny! Later on his conversation with Mohid also showed how fascinated he was with Mishaal. Dastagir is cute, witty and very funny. Mishaal is simple but at the same time she knows how to refuse an offer she is not comfortable with and she definitely believes in speaking her mind! Love both these actors in their respective roles and I find Dastagir’s fascination with Mishaal really cute!

dillagi1

The information Mishaal gave Mohid breathed new life into him and gave him yet another reason to try harder to make Anmol realize that his love for her was far stronger than the hatred Anmol felt for him. The way Mohid kept on dragging Fareed into their conversations was hilarious! He now knows that Anmol does not love this man but she despises him and she wouldn’t want to talk about him therefore he kept on talking about him to annoy her! As far as the scenes between Mohid and Anmol are concerned this had to be my most favorite episode because Mohid was a clear winner in this one. Also, for a change we did not hear the same dialogues from Anmol which were gradually becoming a part of every episode. There were also plenty of light moments between these two. Hamayun Saeed is very convincing in this role; he makes you like Mohid more than any other actor could have. Mohid is genuine – that is one thing about his character which is admirable. He has never lied to get what he wanted. He is also very intelligent and believes in speaking his mind just like his wife but he does not hurt people with his words, especially people who care for him and who he respects. There is an undeniable chemistry between Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed which makes their scenes complete.

dillagi2

This episode was full of meaningful conversations which were very touching. Mohid’s brief conversation with Mishaal and the one he had with Anmol’s mother showed that although he had not been able to win his wife’s heart but he has definitely succeeded in convincing Mishaal and her mother that he is a good person. Mohid does not need to show the kind of love and respect he shows to Anmol’s family but he does that because he thinks of them as family. Unlike Anmol he is not ‘using’ them for his short term goals. Anmol tried to convince Sabiha to run away because that would have worked in Anmol’s favor. Sabiha on the other hand proved that she was not as selfish as Anmol was! Mohid and Sabiha both have one thing in common – there are times when they put other people’s happiness before their own. Tonight for the first time we saw Anmol actually listening to her mother because she did not want to upset her again. There was definitely a change in Anmol’s character in tonight’s episode, she seems to be softening up or maybe she cannot find a way out yet! Anmol’s desperate phone calls to Fareed and his reaction was also an interesting addition. The scenes at the shrine were beautifully shot, they were meaningful and visually pleasing. The only problem was that it was supposed to be really hot but Mohid and Anmol were wearing very warm shawls and it was quite apparent that it was actually quite cold since Mohid was wearing a jacket before they left also!

dillagi3

Another scene which I thoroughly enjoyed was Mohid’s mother’s brief conversation with the woman who was sharing her problems with her. That woman’s remark was spot on!!! Mohid’s mother was always seen siding with the woman never the in laws before but now she knows better! All these ironic yet funny scenes were the highlight of tonight’s episode. Saba Hameed’s wardrobe just like her acting in this serial is superb. I love all these colors on her and the grace with which she carries these outfits. I especially liked Mehwish Hayat’s acting in those scenes in which she was clueless!

What makes Dil Lagi different from many other plays which showed similar scenarios in the past too are the intriguing characters, the subtle yet impactful gestures by these characters which define the relationship they have with each other and most importantly the fact that every single dialogue and every scene is beautifully written and directed. Tonight’s episode had to be one of my most favorite episodes of Dil Lagi because all the scenes were very meaningful and I love the turn the story has taken. Watching Mohid start afresh with no doubts in his mind was definitely better than watching Anmol play games with him. I am waiting to find out what exactly does Mohid have in mind. He is not the kind of person who will do anything which Anmol will find insulting in any way therefore it is impossible to guess what his next move will be.

I am eagerly looking forward to what turn the story and Anmol and Mohid’s relationship will take in the next episode. How many of you watched this latest installment? Please share your thoughts about it.

Dil Lagi – Episode 10

Although our heroine blames halaat very often for all the twisted decisions she made which changed the course of her life forever but actually Anmol’s overactive imagination and an obsession with assuming things is what landed her in the position she is in today. All through tonight’s episode Anmol kept on judging Mohid and while she did that she did not of course give him even a little benefit of the doubt. Even if Mohid does something good, Anmol manages to think of at least one solid reason which will convince her and everyone around her that he is not a good person. Anmol’s character has always been bold right from the start but until she made the decision to get married to Mohid, she used this strength for the right reasons, now all Anmol does is find ways to convince herself and even Mohid that he is the most despicable person on earth!!!

This episode opened with Sabiha telling Anmol details of her married life. There was nothing new about this conversation except for the part about the ‘kasm’. Anmol is someone Sabiha can confide in and it was rather ironic to see Anmol who is anything but happy telling someone else ways to be happy!! Anmol’s ego might have been satisfied the day she decided to take revenge from Mohid by getting married to him and investing all her energy into making his life a living hell but is she really happy? Anmol also tried to prove to Sabiha that sometimes you have to be selfish to win your happiness. Anmol is stubborn, egoistic and yes at times very unreasonable but somehow I don’t see her as a selfish person.

The references to all those Indian films which Anmol mentioned made me laugh because she said exactly what might be going on in the mind of some of the viewers but she made it very clear that this story was not going to end the way these films ended. Anmol and Mohid continued to argue about everything and anything in tonight’s episode. Although Anmol is no longer my favorite character in the play but Mehwish Hayat has certainly done what was expected from her character. Every time Anmol is around Mohid, she has disgusted expressions, which pretty much sum up how she feels about Mohid. She will do anything to hurt this man with her words and actions and there isn’t anything which Mohid can do to prove that he isn’t that bad after all! Anmol is so full of hatred for this man that she fails to see anything he does in a positive light.

dl

It is so good to see a drama for a change in which the girl’s family in particular has not disappeared completely after she got married. All the characters in the play are given enough screen time in every episode which is something that should certainly be appreciated since nowadays there is a new trend of introducing the characters in the first few episodes and then completely relegating them to the background until they are needed to take the story forward. Anmol’s mother and her sister are a very important part of the story and even when they do not add to the story in any way they are given ample screen time. You are not left wondering where they went!!!! In this episode Anmol’s mother gave the same advice to her daughter which she gave in the last episode but this time she had a different tone. The reason Anmol’s mother gave for coming to meet her was touching! Good to know that there are still mothers in our dramas who we can relate to unlike Mannu’s parents who have decided to play numb all of a sudden!

The twist at the end of the episode was the most interesting part of this entire episode. Mishaal finally told Mohib the truth and the most amusing bit was that she had no idea what she had done!! The music in the background every time Mishaal and Dastagir meet and their nok jhok is always spot on! Dastagir’s character and Imran Ashraf’s acting is simply brilliant. There was a time when I thought that Dastagir was not the right match for Mishaal because she is a completely different person than him – much more groomed and educated – but now I think they look really cute together. And honestly speaking I would like to see Dastagir getting his happy ending.

I have not been able to connect to Sabiha’s character right from the beginning. Her track is repetitive and I find it really hard to feel for her. Mohid and Dastagir have to be the most interesting and likeable characters in this serial. Hamayun Saeed has managed to bring out the best in his character. I always find myself rooting for them. I am waiting to find out what Mohid will do now that he knows that Anmol had been playing games with him. Saba Hameed’s wardrobe and acting is always flawless but there are times when it is very difficult to like her character. She has a lot in common with her bahu.

Dil Lagi – Episode 1

Written by: Faiza Iftikhar

Directed by: Nadeem Baig

Produced by: Six Sigma Plus

Channel and Timings: ARY Digital – Saturday – 8pm

This episode just like any other 1st episode focused on introducing the viewers with all the primary characters involved in the story. The story revolves around two households which are completely different from one another. Surraya Khatoon (Asma Abbas) is a widow who worked very hard to raise her two daughters after her husband passed away and she was shown struggling even in tonight’s episode. Mohid’s household on the other hand is quite affluent and his mother (Saba Hameed) is very different from Surraya Khatoon. Anmol (Mehwish Hayat) got more screen time than any other character in tonight’s episode. Anmol’s character is definitely very “unusual”! She takes boldness and courage to a whole new level. This episode opened with showing how far Anmol will go to teach someone who wronged her a lesson and all through this episode the viewers saw Anmol doing just that! Whether it was the lawyer or the people who come to take over the house Anmol did not spare anyone including Mohid (Hamayun Saeed). Anmol is not just bold but she is also very practical. She works to earn a living for her family and when her family is faced with a problem, she goes out looking for solutions.

dl

Mohid is the aklota beta we see in dramas all the time. He belongs to a very affluent family, he is maa ka ladla and he had absolutely no plans of tying the knot until he laid his eyes on Anmol! The first time Mohid saw Anmol, she was beating the man who snatched her purse and the second time he saw her she was beating up the men who came to throw their furniture out therefore one can safely assume that Mohid liked Anmol’s bold nature. Mohid’s dialogue “jhoote insan ke baad mujhe sub se ziada nafrat buzdil insan se hei” pretty much summed up why he would fall for someone like Anmol.

Mohid’s mother is another unconventional character in the play. She is someone who does not have a high opinion of men in general and her advices to the women who came to her for guidance clearly showed that she believed in a marriage in which both partners had equal rights. Not much was revealed about Mohid’s sister (Uzma Hassan) but I couldn’t help but wonder why she wasn’t married. She made a phone call which did appear to be “suspicious”.

dl1

To be honest I found Anmol’s character too Over The Top. There was a lot of screaming, running and hitting in this episode – just watching it on screen made me tired!! I found this episode more chaotic than anything else. Hamayun Saeed appeared on television screen after such a long time but he failed to make his presence felt. I always find his make-up extremely distracting and there was nothing special about his character as well. It is obviously too early to judge the characters therefore I am looking forward to finding out more about all these characters. I found Uzma Hassan’s character intriguing and I am hoping that there will be a ‘human’ side to Anmol as well. It is always good to see an unconventional leading lady who is bold but somehow I had a difficult time connecting to Anmol’s character in this episode. Both Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed failed to blow me away in tonight’s episode but I am very willing to be pleasantly surprised in the upcoming episodes. Saba Hameed made her presence felt just the way she always does. I liked the way the actors playing the leading roles in the drama were introduced in the beginning of the episode.

dl2

Overall, this episode was strictly okay. There was absolutely nothing about the story or the characters that instantly wins you over. The preview of the next episode showed Mohid asking his mother to go to Anmol’s house to ask for her hand in marriage. Will that lead to even more ‘chaos’? The interactions between Anmol and Mohid in the preview did suggest that they will have “rocky relationship”!

Dil Kya Kare Episode 8 Story Review – Complications

This episode focused entirely on Saadi’s reaction after he found out that Arman was in love with Aiman. The story has become more serious since the relationships which were rather simple until the previous episode have become a lot more complicated now that Saadi knows the truth. All these characters were introduced in such a beautiful manner that you can’t help feeling for all of them.

The Aftermath

In this episode, Saadi’s confusion, hurt and perhaps guilt made perfect sense. Arman’s sole purpose in life was to make Aiman happy even if that meant sacrificing his love for her. Now because of him, Aiman’s married life might suffer and he cannot let that happen yet he is helpless. Even after sacrificing so much and hiding how he was hurting, he has not been able to hide the truth. This will not only affect his relationship with Saadi but with Aiman too in the future. Aiman still does not know anything but she can see that there is something seriously wrong with Saadi. Saadi’s father’s dialogues about ‘shuk’ indicated that Saadi might not be able to move on and naturally he will have a difficult time letting Aiman spend time with Arman. Since these three people are closely connected to one another, sooner or later Aiman too will find out the truth. Romaissa is already finding it difficult to keep this secret to herself and the preview of the next episode suggested that she will talk to Saadi about it.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 8 Story Review - Complications

The Supporting Characters

The grownups in this drama are always there for their children and are shown playing the role which a grownup should be playing ideally. Saadi’s parents’ role tonight was an example of how mature and fair these people were. This also showed that elders can play a positive and important role in the lives of children even when these children are perfectly capable of making decisions on their own. This play shows that the ‘interference’ of parents and grandparents in the lives of their children also helps build them up. Arman’s dependence and faith in Bibi is one of the most refreshing elements of this track. She always lends an ear without judging him, whenever he needs it but she lets him deal with his problems himself. She only intervenes as much as is necessary which makes this track different. Rabia’s advice to Aiman tonight was also on point and refreshing. Usually when a girl gets married in our dramas, she is only expected to be the wife and daughter-in-law even when this is not a ‘full time job’. Having an identity of your own and most importantly using what you have to help others is a new concept especially because of the way it was presented in this episode. Bibi also urged Aiman to do something positive with her life which clearly suggested that getting married was not the sole purpose of a girl’s life. All such moments are followed by some light dialogues because of which these ‘lectures’ don’t sound preachy. The open communication between all the characters and their positive interactions are the highlight of every episode. Saadi’s apology immediately after realizing that he was wrong and Aiman questioning her role in Saadi’s life were two scenes which showed how keen they were in making this relationship work.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 8 Story Review - Complications

Overall Impression

Yumna Zaidi and Mirza Zain Baig’s performances were spot-on in this episode. Shamim Hilali and Sonia Rehman have translated their characters effortlessly on screen. Feroze Khan makes you feel for his character every step of the way. Dil Kya Kare’s story and dialogues so far have been brand new in so many ways. The overall feel and the pace of this drama has also been superb throughout. With the exception of the scenes covering Arman’s frame of mind in this episode, all the other scenes were to the point.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 7 Story Review – Delightful

This was another cheerfully emotional episode of Dil Kya Kare. This drama continues to challenge stereotypes in more ways than one. Every character and situation is different from what the viewers usually see in dramas. This episode was perfectly paced and the scenes were written and executed beautifully. The kind of relationship all these characters share with each other is the highlight of every episode. So far, this drama has banked more on sweet and realistic relationships more than anything else to grab the attention of the viewers. Arman’s heartbreak, Aiman’s new beginning, all the positivity and sadness in the lives of these wonderful characters was translated on screen in the most beautiful way possible in this latest episode.

Aiman’s Life After Marriage

The scenes covering Aiman’s life in her new home were delightful. Aiman’s character is beautifully etched-out. She is an intelligent and caring girl who was raised by parents who taught her the importance of family. The acceptance and love she got from Saadi and her parents was the best part of this episode. Bibi’s dialogue about relationships was a winner all the way! The writer has repeatedly put forward the message that our attitudes make or break a relationship. Aiman and Saadi’s romantic scenes were also pleasing. It seemed like Aiman was more sure about this relationship than before, she did not need reassurance from Saadi now perhaps because he and his family reassured her of their love repeatedly without her asking for it. The well written dialogues and a screenplay which so far has been very engaging makes it easy for the viewers to understand all the characters and connect to their stories. It is good to see Yumna Zaidi in this role especially because her character in Dar Si Jati Hei Sila was so different from Aiman’s. Mirza Zain Baig is also well-suited for Saadi’s role.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 7 Story Review - Delightful

Arman and Bibi’s Relationship

I absolutely love the relationship Bibi shares with all the characters but in this episode Arman’s relationship with Bibi stood out more than any other. The bond they share is truly heart-warming. Bibi is like Arman’s best friend, someone he can confide it and she is also his comfort zone. The scenes showing how Bibi looked out for Arman without lecturing him or being overprotective were written and executed impressively. Shamim Hilali is such a brilliant actress and Feroze Khan has played his role superbly as well. Feroze Khan and Shamim Hilali share great on-screen chemistry which makes their scenes even better. I also love how bua is treated and respected like she is part of the family.

The Secret Is Out!

Talking about relationships, the bond Arman shares with Saadi’s parents is also heart-touching. Saadi’s mother sensed something was troubling Arman and Saadi’s father knew already what it was! The scene in which Saadi found out that Arman had feelings for Aiman was also written and translated on screen perfectly. The dialogues and the performances were right on point in this scene as well. The preview of the next episode also suggested that Saadi will be so disturbed after this that his relationship with Aiman might suffer because of it.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 7 Story Review - Delightful

Overall Impression

Dil Kya Kare is an absolutely delightful play which has all the right ingredients in the right proportions. Mehreen Jabbar’s brilliance as a director shows in every single scene and Asma Nabeel has done a wonderful job penning down the script. Watching this drama is like reading a beautiful, emotional novel. The performances by all the actors have been splendid throughout. Can’t wait to watch the next episode.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 6 Story Review – Going Strong

This episode of Dil Kya Kare was poignant and beautifully low-key as usual. This drama explores simple day-to-day relationships, unconditional love and heartbreak in the most subtle yet emotional manner. Mehreen Jabbar has given this drama the perfect treatment which is definitely one of the main reasons why every single dialogue and scene gets noticed. The story did not take the turn everyone was expecting it to take which basically shows that the writer wants to tell the story slowly and is in no rush to entice the viewers by adding quick overdramatic twists and turns. The newness and mature approach of the writer makes this drama different from other family dramas and romantic stories.

Meaningful Characters

Every character in this drama has a definite presence. These characters are not there to entertain the viewers only but they have a clear-cut purpose too. They are strong, compassionate people who teach you a thing or two about life. Most of these characters have lost a loved one and the way they deal with this loss is one of the most appealing aspects of their personalities. Arman’s unconditional love for Aiman and the way he is dealing with heartbreak, Rabia’s positivity, Aiman’s consideration for every little thing and a complete refusal to play the victim, Bibi Jaan being there for everyone and for always being a good listener, Saadi’s dream for a better future for those less fortunate, Faryal and Salman’s support and love for Aiman are few of the things which make these characters inspiring in more ways than one.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 6 Story Review - Going Strong

The most interesting part is that you feel for all these characters the same way. Although, Arman is a gem of a person and he deserves the best but there is no reason why Aiman should not be with Saadi. Saadi is a caring and sweet person who truly is Aiman’s soulmate. Rabia and Aiman’s conversations are always so well-written and acted-out. Aiman asked Rabia an honest question in this episode and her reply was like a breath of fresh air. Rabia is practical and she values what she has. The way she shared how precious the time she spent with her husband was, also made for an interesting insight into the way her life was back then. Romaissa is completely opposite, she has a really difficult time looking at the bright side and she is clearly not going to ‘forgive’ Aiman. Romaissa’s scenes are short and to the point and Marina Khan’s performance has been on point throughout.

The Wedding

Aiman and Saadi got married in this episode and the focus on Arman’s expressions during the rukhsati was so apt. Aiman and Saadi have no clue that this wedding broke Arman’s heart into a million pieces but the preview of the next episode suggested that Saadi might find that out soon. The murder attempts on Saadi’s father have also been the focus of attention therefore it is highly likely that something terrible might happen to Saadi in the future. Mirza Zain Baig makes Saadi’s role extremely likable. Yumna Zaidi shares amazing on-screen chemistry with all her co-actors which makes her scenes even more realistic.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 6 Story Review - Going Strong

Overall Impression

The script, the direction and the performances in this episode were extremely appealing as usual. There were so many scenes which were truly refreshing. Shamim Hilali carries her character effortlessly and makes it more graceful. Sonya Rehman’s performance and her scenes were the highlight of this episode. Feroze Khan has completely nailed his character, you feel for Arman every step of the way but he also reassures you that he will get through this! Dil Kya Kare has been exceptionally well-put-together and never disappoints. It is definitely the kind of drama which entertains and inspires.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 5 Story Review – Progressive & Refreshing

This was another engaging, perfectly paced, well put together episode of Dil Kya Kare. There were so many emotional scenes in this episode and with every passing episode I am falling in love with the characters even more. While you can’t help feeling for Arman, Saadi and Aiman look so good together. The beautiful relationships between all these characters are the highlight of every episode. The progressive and positive approach of the writer makes this drama an absolute delight to watch.

Unconditional Love

Tonight’s episode once again showed how beautiful unconditional love is. Few weeks back Arman was dying to get married to Aiman and now he is the one who has played a major role in making Saadi and Aiman’s engagement a reality. Although, the viewers were shown how tormenting all this was for Arman but neither Mehreen Jabbar nor Feroze Khan went overboard to make the viewers feel for Arman. Feroze Khan’s acting tonight was phenomenal throughout. He has carried this character with grace. Aiman’s relationship with Bi Jaan is another example of how love can turn things around for people. The way Bi Jaan and Rabia have supported Aiman is another positive aspect of this play. Romaissa’s negativity too is never annoying because she has no ā€œalliesā€. Also, everyone knows what she is like and they keep on telling her how wrong she is, which makes the entire situation more balanced and completely tolerable.

Refreshing Elements

There were some scenes tonight which were especially refreshing. Saadi making tea for his parents and being okay with doing so even after getting married was definitely the kind of scene we don’t get to see very often in Pakistani dramas. Saadi and his father’s conversation about how men also need to change in order to make a marriage work was another conversation which we rarely hear in dramas. The fact that all these messages have been put forward in a subtle way makes them even more refreshing. Although usually Geo is criticized by most viewers for showing regressive dramas but Baba Jani and Dil Kya Kare have been a breath of fresh air in so many ways. The absence of any kind of jealousy and the honest relationships also give this drama a different feel. The way Faryal never mulled over her broken engagement and wants to work even though she doesn’t ā€˜need’ to was another positive and refreshing development in this episode.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 5 Story Review - Progressive & Refreshing

Realistic Portrayals

The realistic portrayals by all the actors involved and Mehreen Jabbar’s immaculate direction makes this drama a must-watch. All the performances are authentic and even when there are no dialogues involved, the actors say so much with their expressions and body language. No matter how emotional the scenes are, they are always presented on screen in a crafty manner. This episode was also beautifully shot just like all the previous episodes. The director has kept things simple yet classy.

Another Tragedy On The Way?

Aiman has already been through so much, it will be heartbreaking watching her lose another person she truly loves. Aiman’s dialogues tonight, the conversations in Saadi’s house and the preview of the next episode did suggest that something terrible might happen to Saadi. Tonight’s episode was entertaining as well as emotional because Aiman finally moved on, here’s hoping that things don’t take a turn for the worse in the upcoming episodes.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 3 Story Review – Tragedy & Heartbreak

This drama has only been air for 3 weeks but you can’t help but feel a really strong emotional bond with all the characters. The overall feel of this play is not only different but also extremely pleasant. The conversations are refreshing and it definitely reminds you of the old PTV plays. Dil Kya Kare is more than just another love story – the story so far has focused on the human connection and relationships more than anything else. These relationships have been explored in such an impactful manner in these 3 weeks that you can’t help but feel for every single character in the play.

A Tragedy

The promo of this episode already revealed that Aiman’s parents were going to die but the way this entire development and its aftermath was covered was truly impressive. Salman rushing in the living room and breaking the awful news. Bibi’s helplessness, Aiman’s sorrow and Rabia sense of guilt, all were translated on screen perfectly. These scenes were touching and the way everyone tried to bring Aiman back to life was even more heart-warming. Usman and his wife’s loving relationship was shown in such a nice way in the first two episodes that you truly felt a sense of loss when their plane crashed. This development and the way it was executed reminded me of Tanhaiyan.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 3 Story Review - Tragedy & Heartbreak

Heartbreak

After trying really hard to make Aiman feel better, Arman decided to tell everyone in the family how he felt about Aiman. This was one of my favorite scenes in this episode because of the way it was written and shown on screen. This was anything but a typical scenario in which a guy tells his family about the girl he loves. Arman made it quite clear that his wish was one-sided and Aiman will be the one making the final decision. Viewers also found out why Romaissa hates Aiman so much. She is holding on to past grudges and is not willing to let go. The way Arman found out about Saadi and Aiman was also another scenes which was not run-of-the-mill. His response to this discovery was the most emotional part of this development. The fact that Arman immediately told Bibi that Saadi and Aiman liked each other was yet another pleasant surprise. Arman is turning out to be a really likable young man and Feroze Khan has played his part so well.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 3 Story Review - Tragedy & Heartbreak

Overall Impression

The simple yet effective dialogues, the situations which have a newness about them and the treatment given to this play is perfect. The story has a definite appeal and it has a flow which keeps you engaged. Every scene in this episode was shot beautifully and the sound quality of this drama is superb. Everyone has played their part so well that it doesn’t look like acting at all. They are so convincing that you have no problem accepting them as a close-knitted family. The dialogues about ghr ka kaam really resonated with me – definitely something we don’t get to hear very often – since the house chores are equal to either showing someone’s sughrapa or when the writers want to show how girls are tortured by their in laws! Rabia and Aiman’s scene too was beautifully written and executed. Both of them lost the most important people in their lives therefore they understand each other more than anyone else. Shamim Hilali is perfect as Bibi, Sonia Rehman is such an amazing actress, Marina Khan is so well-suited for the role she is playing, Mariyam Nafees is adorable and Yumna Zaidi never ceases to impress. Feroze Khan is quite likable as Arman. This drama has it all and is definitely a must-watch.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 2 Story Review – Subtle & Appealing

This second episode of Dil Kya Kare was just as sweet as the first one. The characters were introduced with utmost clarity in the first episode and their relationships with each other were further established in this episode. The story so far is quiet simple, the characters are easy to connect to, the performances have been subtle and on point and the director has given this drama the right treatment. It does seem like Dil Kya Kare might just be the ‘normal’ drama we have all been waiting for.

Interesting Aspects

Bibi Jaan’s character is like a breath of fresh air – a graceful, educated, intelligent and fair woman. Shamim Hilali is such a wonderful actress who always does complete justice to her characters. She fits perfectly in this role and makes Bibi Jaan even more likable. Lately, in so many dramas we have seen women as head of the families but most often these women have been shown as negative and manipulating people. This drama so far has few of the most pleasant female characters. Aiman is a confident young girl who speaks her mind and has a difficult time dealing with people who have an ‘agenda’. The way her reaction was covered tonight after Romaissa shouted at them, went to show how ‘new’ all this was for her. Her reaction was easy to connect to since she has been living in an environment which is completely different. Aiman’s parents are easy-going which is why she is ‘scared’ of Romaissa but she is not letting that overshadow all the love she is getting from everyone else.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 2 Story Review - Subtle & Appealing

Arman and Aiman’s relationship has also been translated on screen in a cute way. Aiman, it seems, likes someone else and Arman is only a good friend. Arman on the other hand is completely smitten by Aiman. Yumna Zaidi and Feroze Khan have done exactly what was expected from them. They also share great on-screen chemistry. Rabia’s character is also appealing because even though her situation is anything but ideal but she has not been shown as a victim. She is a nice person who is trying to keep herself and others happy. Her track is also something new since most often widows in our dramas barely ever get that kind of love from their mother-in-laws and they are never ever shown trying to make something out of their lives without making it look like a really big deal. Although Romaissa is somewhat typical but the treatment given to this character makes it much more tolerable than many similar characters we have seen on screen lately. Marina Khan has underplayed this character and at the same time has managed to accentuate all the important personality traits. Faryal is another likable character in the play. Maryam Nafees too has played her role well.

Overall Impression

This second episode of Dil Kya Kare has raised my expectations since it was written and executed so well. The scenes in this episode were short and to the point. The overall feel of this play is different and appealing. The treatment given to this drama and the characters has brought out the best in the script. The story is simple, the characters are refreshing and you look forward to the next episode. It is good to see Feroze Khan in a ‘normal’ character for a change. All the actors fit perfectly in their respective roles and the situations are somewhat novel.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 2 Story Review - Subtle & Appealing

The Detailed Promo

The promo of the next episode gave away the most important development of the upcoming episode. This promo was a little too detailed and it did not leave much to the imagination! Just showing the funeral would have been enough, telling the viewers who was going to die was an extremely foolish move. All those viewers out there who do not like spoilers should not watch this promo.

Dil Kya Kare is off to a promising start and I am looking forward to the next episode. Do share your thoughts about this episode in the comments section.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 10 Story Review – Slow-Paced

This latest episode of Dil Kya Kare was slow-paced as well as repetitive, it is definitely time to move things forward. This episode yet again showed how awkward Saadi and Arman felt around each other especially when Aiman was around. Saadi’s reaction so far has been covered realistically but there were plenty of scenes in this episode which did not add anything new to the story. This love triangle is going around in circles and the impact of Saadi finding out the truth has been undermined for now.

The Relationships

Many of the scenes tonight showed that Aiman could sense that something was wrong but she does not have the slightest idea that it has got something to do with her ‘best friend’. All the characters got a decent amount of screen time in this episode but other than Arman’s decision to go abroad, there was no tangible development in this episode. Romaissa’s meeting with Saadi clearly showed that she can do whatever it takes to ‘help’ her son get over Aiman. Saadi’s discomfort while she told him that having Aiman around was not going to help Arman was translated on screen perfectly by Mirza Zain Baig. Feroze Khan has been extremely likable as Arman but lately his scenes have nothing new to offer. Arman’s character is defined by his love for Aiman alone and now that he barely has any interaction with Aiman, the viewers are hardly getting to see them together. Arman and Bibi’s scenes are always the best. The friendship and communication between them is heart-warming.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 10 Story Review - Slow-Paced

Romaissa’s insecurities and her inability to accept the fact that her son is finding it really difficult to get over Aiman will eventually lead to something bigger. Tonight, once again the conversations suggested that something might happen to Saadi in the upcoming episodes. Yumna Zaidi is really convincing as a sensible young woman whose life revolves around her husband even though everyone keeps on telling him to build a life of her own too. Saadi’s moods and the way he behaves affect Aiman even though she tries her best to be understanding. Saadi’s father and Bibi are two of my favorite characters right now.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 10 Story Review - Slow-Paced

Overall Impression

This was definitely not the best episode of Dil Kya Kare. There were many meaningless conversations and filler scenes. The characters have been well-established by now therefore it is time for some growth or changes. Right now the biggest question is if Aiman will ever find out about Arman’s feelings for her. This was actually the kind of episode which could easily be missed. All the characters in this play have a certain appeal but the story is at a standstill for now. Waiting for this drama to pick up pace so that it gives me something to look forward to and write about as well!

Dil Kya Kare Episode 1 Story Review – Sweet Relationships

Written By: Asma Nabeel
Directed By: Mehreen Jabbar
Produced By: 7th Sky Entertainment
Schedule: Every Monday 8pm on Geo Entertainment

The first episode of Dil Kya Kare was entertaining and it had a modern feel to it. All the characters were introduced in such a way that their relationships with each other stood out more than anything else. These relationships for the most part were sweet as well as interesting.

Family dynamics

This episode opened with Bibi jaan (Shameem Hilali) throwing a surprise party for her grandchildren. The first scene was lively and pleasing. Arman (Feroze Khan) and Aiman’s (Yumna Zaidi) birthdays were celebrated together even though they were miles apart. I especially liked Bibi Jaan’s role because she was introduced as an easy going but intelligent head of the family who looked out for everyone and was fair. Besides Romaissa (Marina Khan), everyone else had nothing but good feelings about each other. Aiman’s character too was introduced in detail in this first episode – she was shown as a confident, sensible and caring girl who loved Urdu poetry. Aiman’s parents were just as ā€˜cool’ as Bibi and I especially enjoyed this element. The writer managed to present a happy family which had seen its due share of bad times but had stood by one another nicely on screen. Arman’s character was the only one which seemed too plain, other than him all the other characters had more of a presence and personality. Arman’s relationship with his sister Faryal (Maryam Nafees) was another cute part of this episode. Their scenes were enjoyable because of the way they were executed. Rabia’s back story and what this family had gone through was communicated to the viewers through different conversations.

Likable and Progressive Characters

The best part of this first episode was that the characters were not only likable but also progressive. Bibi Jaan’s positive outlook towards life and the way she protected Rabia was the highlight of this episode for me. Apart from Bibi Jaan Usman, Rabia and Aiman were some of the characters which were well-defined as well as appealing. These characters had a definite presence and you wanted to see more of them.

Dil Kya Kare Episode 1 Story Review - Sweet Relationships

Performances, Script and Direction

Mehreen Jabbar knows her craft only too well therefore it did not come as a surprise that this episode was beautifully shot. It also had one of 7th Sky Entertainment’s signature scenes – the song sequence in which Arman is day dreaming! It reminded me of Khaani. Shameem Hilali is the perfect choice for playing the role of Bibi Jaan – she carried this role with grace and confidence which was needed to make it come alive on screen. Marina Khan was the surprise package tonight since this is the first time I am watching her play such a role. I absolutely loved her dialogue delivery – so clear and on point. Feroze Khan’s role is simple and he was quite convincing as someone who was madly in love. The only problem was that this was the only aspect of Arman’s personality which was shown tonight. I hope there is more to his character. Yumna Zaidi and Saman Ansari both are exceptionally talented, it is great watching them together in a drama after Dar Si Jati Hei Sila. Aiman’s character has my undivided attention after watching this episode. Rabia’s (Sonia Rehman) story is also interesting and I am waiting to see more of her as well.

Overall Impression

This first episode was quite promising, the story and the characters seem interesting. This episode was also visually pleasing and well-paced. Looking forward to more!

Dil Ishq (ŲÆŁ„ Ų¹Ų“Ł‚) on Geo TV

The official facebook page describes the play as “A story of a young, pretty and studious girl Bakhtawar (Neelum Munir) who has aspirations in life to do the best in her studies, she lived with her crippled father and her mother.” .

“Mega Budget drama #Dilishq coming soon only on Geo Tv – Har Pal.
Stay connected fans and listen to beautiful Ost sung by 1st Pakistan Idol #ZamadBaig :)”

Starring: Aijaz Aslam, Ayesha Khan, Neelum Munir, Sohail Asghar,Shabbir Jaan
Story & Screenplay: Faysal Manzoor
Writer: Aneeza Syed
Director: Syed Ali Raza Usama
Producer: Babar Javed, Aijaz Aslam

As per its official facebook page it is another “Mega budget” drama in the direction of Syed Ali Raza Usama. In recent years both Geo Tv and Syed Ali Raza Usama have presented dramas claimed to be “High and mega budgeted” like Bashar Momin, Maryam and Sultanat-e-Dil, but without mentioning the allocated budget amount. A glance at all these mega budgeted dramas is enough to convince anyone that, whatever the allocated budget was, its major part was spent on makeup, dresses, styling and locations while some minor part was reserved for story, script and lighting. Time will tell whether the budget allocation pattern is any different in this serial?

From promos it looks to be another story where two pretty, educated and young (much younger than the hero) ladies are aimlessly fighting for an over-aged and worthless hero (yaaawn!!!!!).

Dil Haara Is The New Acappella Song By Ali Noor

0

Ali Noor of Noori has been a part of Strepsils Stereo for some time now and has been giving us tracks which represent Pakistani music’s first ever Acappella songs. The last was Billo which was a chartbuster Mehendi song and featured Sanam Chaudhary in the video. Well, the valentines day is around the corner and Ali Noor is back with another Acappella offering and the new song Dil Haara is all about opening up about your feelings to your loved ones. The video featuresĀ Ali Noor himself and supermodel Rabia Butt as leads and is a modern take on relationship problems and the communication gap.

Dil Haara Is The New Acappella Song By Ali Noor

Dil Haara is a typical Ali Noor song and is quite soothing to hear and is a bit of good advice for all the young couples out there!
