The touchdown of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Pakistani Air Force Base Nur Khan was a huge moment of pride and joy for the people of Pakistan. Everyone was keen to see the beginning of the Royal Visit and it was that moment when Kate Middleton drew everyone’s attention to herself. She was dressed in a beautiful ensemble designed by Cathrine Walker, Lady Diana’s favorite designer. The very first dress was plain long shirt paired with trousers but the gradient colors were gorgeous and took the dress to a whole new level. The detail of cowled layers on the neckline and the back were Cathrine Walker’s way of representing the Pakistani dupatta. This beautiful dress played with gradient palette of blue and it was flared with fitted sleeves. It had pleats that sit perfectly on Kate Middleton’s tall and petite frame. Kate Middleton and Prince William attended a reception and dinner hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan in Islamabad. This w as a star studded event where the big names from different fields were invited to welcome the Royal Couple to Pakistan at Pakistan Monument, Islamabad. Kate and William made a unique and special entrance to the event in an auto rickshaw. It was the organizers way of letting them enjoy the experience and both of them looked high spirited and cheerful when they came out of the rickshaw. Kate Middleton and Prince William stunned everyone when they made an appearance in traditional formal Pakistani attire. Kate wore a glistening emerald green dress and looked like a total stunner. This gorgeous dress was designed by Jenny Packham. It was heavily embellished with sequin work all over the gown. The neckline and waistline had a beautiful pattern which also was designed on the sleeves. Kate Middleton also wore a dupatta to give this gown a Pakistani look. Kate wore bespoke earrings by O’nitaa and her footwear was a classic Jimmy Choo.
This is the first time in the history of the Royal Visits that Prince William wore a traditional outfit of the hosting country. Usually Prince William wears suits or trousers and shirts during his visit but Pakistani fashion designer Nauman Arfeen, owner of the label Naushe Mian had the honor of designing this gorgeous traditional sherwani for Prince William. They both looked like a Pakistani couple in their gorgeous traditional outfits.
Look 5
On day 4 of the Royal Visit, Kate Middleton and Prince William went to see the beautiful valley of Chitral. They both visited the Chiatibo Glacier in Broghil National Park to see the melting glacier, a result of the global warming. On this day, William and Kate kept their attire stylish but casual. Kate Middleton wore a brown buttoned dress shirt and brown skirt. She paired it with a sleeveless leather jacket and wore long boots. Kate also added a beige shawl following the dress code protocol. Kate tied her hair and wore Missoma 18ct Gold Plated Chandelier earrings with a similar design to the traditional Pakistani jewellery. Even though Kate kept her attire western during this visit, her little detailing of adding those earrings showed how keen she was on representing Pakistani fashion throughout her visit.
Upon her arrival, Duchess was given a regimental cap of Chitrali scouts and she also received a traditional shawl which she immediately wore. William also received a traditional chitrali cloak. After their visit to the Chiatibo Glacier, they paid a visit to Bumburet and a community of the Kalash people. This is where Kate received a second Kalashi headpiece and stole. After completing their visit to beautiful valley of Chitral, the Royal Couple arrived in Lahore. Kate wore a beautiful white custom shalwar kameez by Gul Ahmed, wore a dupatta designed by Maheen Khan and completed the look with nude JCrew’s Lucie Suede Pumps and Mulberry clutch. Kate wore a pair of Asprey London’s Small Oak Leaf Earrings. This gorgeous shirt piece was not only beautiful but it had a significant meaning to it as well. The shirt had jasmine embroidered all over, representing the national flower of Pakistan; Chambeli.
At the beginning of the day in Lahore, the Royal Couple visited the SOS Children’s Village, which provides a family structure for vulnerable children, who are given a home and cared for by a caretaker to help them develop into happy and confident adults. They also celebrated a birthday party of one of the 150 children at the SOS Children’s Village.
After that, they visited the National Cricket Academy and spent time with the cricketers and tried hands on a few batting shots themselves. Kate swapped her heels for a pair of plimsolls to show off her sporting skills during a game of cricket. Kate arrived with her hair curled and luscious but like a true sportswoman, she then tied her hair in a ponytail to prevent the locks from distracting her. It was so good to see Kate Middleton and Prince William enjoying the game of cricket and having a good time with the cricketers.

After visiting the National Cricket Academy, Kate Middleton had a change of clothes and was then ready to visit the state-of-the-art Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital and Badshadhi Masjid. Kate and William spent time with the children at the hospital and being a princess that she is wore a toy tiara to cheer a little girl who is a patient at the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital.
After the visit to the hospital, Kate and William went to Badshadhi Masjid and attended a little ceremony organized for them over there. On this day, Kate Middleton wore a beautiful flowy shirt and trousers designed by Maheen Khan. Once again, the designer kept the heat of Lahore city in her mind while designing this gorgeous chiffon dress. It was a beautiful shade of turquoise with gold motif on the neckline of the shirt. After an eventful day, Kate and William left Lahore. On her way back to Islamabad, Kate Middleton wore a monochromatic shirt designed by Elan. It had embroidery all over and looked comfortable, casual and chic at the same time. It was a loose fitted short shirt. The black motif embroidery highlighted the beautiful traditional embroidery work which is the essence of Pakistani fashion. Kate paired it with Gul Ahmed trousers and a dupatta designed by Maheen Khan. She once again wore her JCrew’s Lucie Suede Pumps and carried a Smythson Black Panama East West Zip Tote. The royal couple finally arrived in Islamabad from Lahore after two failed attempts of landing at different airports in Islamabad due to bad weather conditions. Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t look tired or traumatized by the unexpected delay in the schedule and when they later arrived, they both looked well-rested and calm. On the last day, Duke and Duchess visited Army Canine Centre in Islamabad which reflects the U.K. Defense Animal Training Centre in the England. They got to spend time with the bred and trained dogs and had a good time, this was more of a casual outing.
Kate Middleton looked absolutely graceful, sporting a monochromatic look yet again. Many campaigns are launched to spread awareness of breast cancer.

Sarwat Gillani is pretty active recently she attended an event regarding Breast Cancer Awareness. She shared on her Instagram handle and encouraged others to talk about it. The event was hosted by the First lady Mrs. Arif Alvi.

Pakistan has the highest incidence of breast cancer in all of Asia. Every 1 in 8 Pakistani women are diagnosed with it. The disease claims the lives of nearly 40,000 women in Pakistan every year.
Early detection of Breast Cancer increases the chances of survival to 90%. Women below the age of 40 should carry out regular self-examination and those over 40 should undergo regular screening mammography.

Be prepared with your passport and tickets.
Always keep your passport and tickets in your hand instead of your handbag or hand carry. There’s a lot of rush and queue at and inside the airport until you get to the airplane itself. You don’t want to keep others waiting just because of you. Be prepared and keep all your things ready beforehand to make yours and others lives easier. Also don’t be impatient if the line is long and check in is taking time, there might be some problem incurring which needs to be resolved. Don’t worry the flight won’t leave without you unless you forget to board!
Don’t hog the armrest and be vary of reclining your seat
Don’t hog the armrest like you own it just because you have been assigned a certain seat. If you’re on the window or aisle seat, let the middle seat enjoy both the armrests on either side. After all, they’re already in much more discomfort than you. Secondly, when reclining your chair to sleep or rest, be kind enough not to recline it all the way. There are other people in the aircraft and you don’t want to shove your seat in their face. It would have been a whole different scenario if you were in business class but sadly, you’re not. So be kind!
Keep your space clean
There’s a lot to do during a flight, you eat, listen to music, watch shows and…make a mess. The most important thing is cleaning the mess once your flight has landed. It’s basic manners and etiquette’s on your part to leave your space clean and tidy.
Respect the lavatory
Everyone needs to use the lavatory at some point during the flight. Once you’re done, make sure there are no water spills made by you, used tissues are thrown away and it looks clean. You don’t want people to make faces at you once you come out of a filthy lavatory so respect the usage.
Get off the plane in a dignified manner
Your flight just landed, the seat belt sign has not yet been turned off but you get up anyway. That’s not how it should be. Let the plane come to a complete halt. The doors are not opening in another half an hour anyway so why the hurry to leave? Remember that everyone is as eager to get off the plane as you are. Don’t crowd into the aisle if there isn’t room, and let everyone ahead of you get out before making a move.
You’ll have plenty of time to prepare before it’s your turn to exit, so make sure you have everything, and that you don’t take any more time than you need to. Ideally, if you don’t have a connecting flight or are in a hurry to get somewhere, you could wait till people got off as you still need to go through passport control and luggage takes time to come through.

When Prince William and Kate Middleton went to Chitral they definitely must not be expecting to meet someone named after late Princess Diana there. Prince William met a woman whose grandmother travelled to Chitral in 1991 to meet Princess Diana and later on named this grand daughter after the Princess.
This lady, Diana, narrated an interesting story to the royal couple telling them how her mother was expecting her when Princess Diana was visiting Chitral therefore her mother couldn’t come to meet her but her grandmother went to meet the Princess. Diana also told the Duke and Duchess that she had named her son William.

After a long wait, we finally have good news. Shamoon Abbasi’s directorial Durj, has finally been cleared for release in Pakistan. The film received its clearance yesterday on 17th October 2019 and will now have its new release date announced very soon.
Earlier Durj had been banned, without a significant reason, by the CBFC, after having received its clearance from both Sindh and Punjab censor board. Following the ban, director Shamoon Abbasi took to his social media to raise a voice regarding undue ban on his film, without proper explanation. Alongside Shamoon, actress Sanam Saeed and others also questioned why Durj wasn’t being allowed to release in Pakistan.
Based on true incidents of cannibalism in Punjab, Pakistan, Durj, brought about a very graphic trailer, yet one that was highly interesting and performance based. Both Shamoon Abbasi and Sherry Shah delivered epic performances in the trailer, making the audience anticipate the film, with its different and very unique subject matter.

Have watermelons
Watermelons are made up of 92 per cent water and eight per cent fruit which makes them the perfect substitute for water. The carotenoid content present in watermelons also helps prevent cell damage, fight deadly diseases and helps regulate blood pressure and aids in recovering. Watermelons are also a good source of potassium, vitamin A and vitamin C.
Incorporate leafy greens in your diet
Leafy green vegetables are packed with water content especially lettuce. Lettuce contains 96 per cent water which is so much more than watermelons. The great part about lettuce is that it can be included in almost any main course. Apart from lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes are an excellent source of hydration as well. You can also mix all the ingredients together to make a delicious salad as well.
Have some hot soup
People enjoy having soup in the cold weather as it keeps them warm. It’s a great source of food intake when you want to skip on a heavy meal as well as nutritious and easy to make.
Say no to salty, fried foods
Avoid salty, fried foods and instead opt for lighter healthier options. Salty foods can badly dehydrate the body and make you feel thirsty really quickly. The human body only needs a minimum amount of salt per day which can easily be acquired through consumption of vegetables and fruits.
Ditch snacks such as crisps, crackers and sweets as they are heavy on carbs and contain little to no water content. Try binge-eating on healthier snacks such as seasonal fruits or make them into smoothies.
Drink herbal tea
Herbal tea keeps the inside of your body warm and cleans your digestive system as well. Herbal teas are also good for your skin as they keep skin clear and hydrated. You can have a cup of herbal tea after your dinner to help digest the food, it also helps one sleep better.
Keep your outside hydrated
Don’t use makeup everyday unless you absolutely need to, try doing minimal makeup. Take care of your skin by moisturizing it daily with the help of sun screens which can keep you fresh and hydrated.
Stop washing your face too much
Washing your face frequently during the day can strip the skin of it’s moisture and cause it to produce more oil thus actually make it more dehydrated, rather than the other way around. Our skin needs it’s own moisture to stay hydrated. Wash your face only twice a day to clear out dirt and other impurities accumulated throughout the day. If your face gets dry quickly use a moisturizer to keep it fresh and dewy.

Hina Altaf didn’t say anything on this matter but finally, after a long time, Hina Altaf cleared the air. She breaks her silence in an interview with Nida Yasir.
She said:
“The clip has been cut out and portrayed as something else however it was something else. In fact, in the interview, I did praise so many times and all that part has been cropped. When I watched that video I felt so bad and it went so viral that everyone came up to me and asked about it.”
Hina Altaf was ashamed and said, “I was so ashamed because I said so many good things on the show but that 12 second or 13-second video was cropped out and portrayed as something else. As I said, I praised as well but that was chopped out and it was not aired as well. I didn’t say anything because everyone was on fire and it didn’t matter if I cleared it so I preferred to stay silent.”

Muniba Mazari (Activist)

Mahira Khan (Actress)
Mahira Khan her career as a VJ in 2006. In 2011, she made her film debut in Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol while subsequently marking her television debut in Neeyat. Her claim to fame, however, came with her role as Khirad in Sarmad Khoosat’s Humsafar.
From here, it was no looking back for the actress as she appeared in multiple dramas and films, also earning herself an entry into Bollywood alongside Shahrukh Khan during the on-going journey. Considered as Pakistan’s most popular and highest-paid actresses, Mahira made her Cannes debut at the 71st Cannes International Film Festival as the Hair Spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris Pakistan.

Maheen Khan (Designer)
The Pakistani fashion and costume designer, Maheen Khan is well known for her embroidery for the film Snow White and the Huntsman, Cinderella and the TV series, The Jewel in the Crown.
In 2014, she was awarded the Silver Shield from the Government of Pakistan for her contribution to the fashion industry. Dubbed as ‘Coco Chanel of the East,’ she has also designed dresses for various notable personalities such as The Bhuttos, Jemima Khan, and various others.
Maheen has also got the opportunity to dress The Duchess of Cambridge on the Royal’s first official visit to Pakistan.
Shehzad Roy is one singer, whom the 90s kids will always remember. The sweet voice and the romantic songs Roy crooned them in were an all time favorite. Even today, no song, can create the magic like Shehzad Roy’s “Tera Mukhra” or “Kangana” did back then.

Set a routine
Having a set routine allows you to be organized with your everyday tasks. You should have time to do all your work and still relax. Set a routine around when to sleep which should essentially be around 8 hours of sleep so you wake up energized and still have time for breakfast as it’s the most important meal of the day while keeping your energy levels high throughout the day. A set routine doesn’t mean you can’t change things here and there but it certainly does help keep you productive. Use it as a guideline instead of a timetable.
Interact with people
While we make friends in school, it’s really hard to part with them when we enter university. Everyone chooses different career paths thus making it difficult for people to survive in an altogether different environment. It’s almost the same as going to school for the first time. Seek this new experience to allow you to interact with new people and make friends with individuals with the same mindsets as you. You’ll definitely be needing them for projects (JK!)
Allow yourself to make mistakes and learn from them
It is OK to make mistakes while you’re in university. After all it’s a new learning experience which is totally different from what you were taught in school. You need to give yourself time to get adjusted to it. Even if you fail at the first try, that’s perfectly fine. Don’t get upset over it, instead take it as a challenge to move forward and do better.
Get a planner to organize things
A planner will help you organize your daily tasks and even keep things in mind. Jot down all the important tasks and chores you need to accomplish throughout the day, week or even month wise. You can also color code them so it becomes much more easier to remember.
Don’t compare yourself with others
Different people have varying skill sets. Some might be better in math, others might be better in English, while some might be better in presentations. Thus, don’t compare yourselves with others and focus on yourself. Your grades are going to speak for you and you only. Don’t get into the rat race of being number one just to compete with others but be in the race to compete with yourself.
Set a budget aside
This is absolutely crucial when you’re starting university! If you learn to budget well from the very beginning, that skill will continue to be your saving grace for the next three or four years you have in university and even afterwards! Don’t splurge unnecessarily as this skill will teach you how to budget in your professional life as well. On the other hand, don’t be too harsh or strict on yourself and learn to have fun alongside. Enjoy the ride while it lasts!
After working in film Chupan Chupai, Ahsan Khan has signed for a new film. Ahsan Khan shared the details of the movie. The movie he has signed is a romantic comedy with a very strong social message which has never been discussed in any film.
The movie has been titled ‘Parde Mai Rehne Do’ which has been written and directed by Mohsin Ali, while Zayed Sheikh is the producer. The rest of the cast is not finalized yet and Ahsan Khan signed it a few days ago.
According to Ahsan, “It may be a romantic comedy but there’s a huge social message also hidden in the story and I think that social message has never been touched upon before on television or film ever.”
Ahsan Khan had many other offers for roles but he chose Parde Mai Rehne Do as his next project.
“In a few days, we’ll be revealing more details. The producer and director will be unveiling the full cast and we’ll have the press release or something. We plan to start the shooting for the film in a few months,” Ahsan shared.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a type of mental illness. It is split into two parts, either obsessive thoughts about having things done in an orderly fashion or compulsive repetitive behavior such as washing hands again and again, checking things are locked or lights are switched off. Some people have obsessions while some have compulsions, while some might have both of the two. This disorder affects our everyday lives such as school, jobs, relationships while our habits can be beyond our control. While there is no cure for OCD, talking to a therapist known as psychotherapy can help lessen symptoms and lead a person to live a better life.
Social Anxiety Disorder
The feeling of being nervous and uncomfortable in a social gathering especially where there are a lot of unfamiliar faces is known as Social Anxiety Disorder. It is one of the most common disorders which affects people. Striking a conversation, making eye contact and just going out for dinner are considered normal for many people but not for individuals who suffer from SAD. There might be different reasons for why people incur this disorder such as fear of being judged, humiliated or they don’t like being the centre of attention. Both medication and therapy have been shown effective in treating social anxiety disorder.
Eating disorders
There are three main types of eating disorders namely Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge-eating.
Anorexia involves eating little amount of food since a person thinks it makes them fat so they only eat small amounts.
Bulimia involves over eating and then self inducing yourself to periods of vomiting, trying to get rid of the extra calories in an unhealthy way. People may also use laxatives in this disorder.
Binge-eating is out of control eating in which one does not take in account of their diet.
It is pertinent to eat a healthy diet as such disorders may lead to heart and kidney diseases.
Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders
Schizophrenia affects a person’s daily life and habits as it is caused by a disruption in the brain which marks emotional instability and willingness of a person to live their life normally. The most common symptoms in this disorder include hallucinations, hearing voices, delusions, social withdrawals, abnormal reasoning and being absent minded for long periods of time.
Dementia is another disorder which includes memory loss, disruptions in being conscious and other motor skills. Examples of dementia include Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s and Dementia caused by certain drugs. Early diagnosis can help treat dementia with certain procedures.

Dr. Shaista Lodhi, host cum actress cum dermatologist and cosmetologist, is a renowned name in Pakistan. The actress is currently practising at her own cosmetology clinic in Karachi, allowing men and women to feel aesthetically beautiful and help better their lives. However, not one to slow down, even when she’s working full time, Shaista Lodhi is always looking to enhance her skills.
Following the agenda, Lodhi, flew to Madrid, Spain, earlier this month to attend an international conference on dermatology.
While also enjoying her stay in Madrid, Shaista met and socialized with doctors and dermatologists from Pakistan and around the world in Spain.
Enhancing her knowledge and learning new techniques in dermatology, Shaista also met with Nadjet Shaimi Export Director of ACM and had great interaction with her and other specialists during The Modern Dermatology conference.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton have now landed in Lahore for a one day tour of the city, after visiting the Northern areas of Pakistan. The Royal Couple is already scheduled to attend a host of events in Pakistan’s cultural capital, Lahore.
The Royals were greeted by Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on their arrival.
After their meeting with the governor, the Royal Couple visited the SOS Children Village where they met orphaned children and even attended a birthday party. The Duchess also surprised everyone by talking to the kids in Urdu, wishing them a very happy birthday.
The Royal Couple next visited the National Cricket Academy. They were welcomed by Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ehsan Mani, PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan and other officials. The Duke and Duchess also met international Pakistani cricketers including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sana Mir, Urooj Mumtaz, Ayesha Zafar, Hasan Ali, Azhar Ali and Waqar Younis

Makeup is an essential part of an actor’s job. A camera requires the person in front of it to look a certain way, that is why makeup becomes a necessity for an actor to prevent the camera from picking up unwanted details & enhancing skin conditions, which in reality look absolutely normal but get accentuated on TV screens. This is the reason why the actors, who may or may not be in favor of wearing a lot of makeup are required to wear some amount of it to at least have the coverage on face so that they don’t look too washed out or tired on screen.
Makeup also plays a crucial part in making or breaking a character, when an actor wears the right kind of makeup, it helps in conveying the scenario that a character is faced within the drama. Similarly, when an actor relies a bit too much on the makeup, it takes away the quotient of realness from the character & makes them look unnecessarily glamorous, which might not be requirement of the character. There are a lot of actors who do believe in wearing least amount of makeup to stay true to their characters & give them the realistic feel. However, there are also a lot such actors who do not shy away from wearing layers & layers of makeup. For such actors, looking good on-screen is the most important thing & that is why they do not really prioritize the feel & the look that actually goes with their characters.
Pakistani drama industry is filled with amazing & talented makeup artists, who work constantly behind the scenes to help the actors achieve the look they want to sport in their project. This is the reason why all the actors look so good on-screen, irrespective of the look that actually is needed for their characters. However, even though all the actors mentioned below have had perfectly done makeup in their dramas, they have always looked unrealistically glamorous considering the kind of characters they have played. This list is dedicated to those beautiful actresses who played the role of victims in their dramas but still succeeded in looking gorgeous & too made up.
Sohai Ali Abro (Surkh Chandni)
Surkh Chandni was probably one such drama that actually covered the journey of an acid attack victim in a very convincing manner. They started off by showing how Aida (Sohai Ali Abro) hit the rock bottom but with constant support, she not only ended up being a survivor but also turned this aspect of her life into her strength. Everything that was shown in Surkh Chandni was convincing & done right, except Sohai Ali Abro’s makeup & glamour. She looked too glam despite the fact that she was playing the role of an acid attack victim. Yes, one half of Aida’s face was covered with scarring (which also kept on fluctuating), however, the other half of her face had a thick, visible layer of perfectly matte foundation. Her eyebrows were on-fleek. Perfectly kohl’ed eyes. Eyeshadow was natural but done really well & not to forget the long-lasting liquid lipsticks that she wore, which completed her full face of makeup.
Sohai Ali Abro is one of those actresses who loves to wear makeup & looks absolutely glamorous in her dramas. However, it seems she was ready to play the role of Aida but not really keen on giving up on her habit of wearing a lot of makeup. Although she kept her makeup natural looking & did not resort to a lot of colors on her face, but the way her makeup was done seemed too perfect for someone who was an acid attack victim. In Surkh Chandni, a lot of real acid attack survivors were shown, so I guess Sohai Ali Abro had an example in front of her that none of the survivors looked the way Aida did. Yes, it was a drama & Sohai Ali Abro was just ‘playing’ this character & even though she acted brilliantly, the least she could have done is was give up on 2 – 3 layers, in order to make her character & her condition as an acid attack victim look a bit realistic.
Ramsha Khan (Kaisa Hai Naseeban)
Ramsha Khan is also one of those actresses who loves wearing tons of makeup. In the beginning of her career, Ramsha did have a hard time finding the right makeup artist because her makeup was always off & poorly done. As the time passed, Ramsha did learn what looked good on her but still, she didn’t really realize that a character like Mariam can not look real with the amount of makeup that she wore in Kaisa Hai Naseeban. Mariam was a typical bechari that is often shown in our dramas, with non-supportive husband, zalim saas, typical nand & Mariam being the girl who is made to run the house by working outside as well as has to do the household chores day & night. Even after all of the hard-work, Ramsha Khan succeeded in looking perfectly made up with rosy cheeks, false eyelashes, under eye highlighting, glossy pink pout & perfectly shaped eyebrows. Yes, she looked fine in the initial stages of the drama when she was at her father’s home & was then a newly wed but later when her world turned upside down, the thing that remained consistently perfect was her makeup. I really hope she lets everyone know which brand of lash glue she used, because her false eyelashes stayed intact even during the hospital scenes.
Minal Khan (Hassad)
Minal Khan is also one of those actresses who find it really hard to put their makeup brushes away. Minal Khan has the kind of face & features that can look absolutely perfect on-screen in minimal makeup but she does not believe in keeping it simple. The thing with Minal is that she does not only focus on her face makeup, she makes sure that her hair look shiny & the curls remain perfectly intact even if the world of her character is crumbling down. Minal Khan played the role of Naintara in Hassad & I guess she took the name of the character a bit too literally & seriously. She made sure to look like nainon ka tara by remaining all dolled up throughout the drama. In Hassad, Naintara loses her husband & her in-laws backwardly tell her to wear all-white outfits. Even in those scenes, I couldn’t help but notice how perfectly done her hair were & how she wore capris with so much of confidence amongst the family which was so bird-brained. Minal Khan tends to rely on makeup may be to add age to her characters since she plays such mature roles but it still looks unrealistic when her foundation is dewy, face is perfectly bronzed & highlighted, eye makeup is perfectly blended & hairdos are valima-appropriate – even in those scenes when she is mourning the loss of her on-screen spouse.
Alizeh Shah (Jo Tu Chahay)
Alizeh Shah is the new eye-candy of Pakistani drama industry. She is getting to be a part of one big project after another because she is extremely beautiful. Her makeup artist knows the art of makeup but this is where the problem begins. Alizeh Shah is usually made to play the roles of a teenager but her hair & makeup make her look too glam to give a damn. Alizeh Shah has dyed her hair which already add a bit of glam to her overall look & then paired with the amount of makeup that she does, it just makes her look unrealistically beautiful to be playing such roles which are faced with challenges in life.
In Jo Tu Chahay, Mashal (Alizeh Shah) is living with her simple, pious, God-fearing Dadi Ma, she is a teenager orphan who is not loved by anyone around her, she does not have much money & her male cousins are protective & keep an eye on her, so not sure how can she afford such amount of makeup because the final result shows that the makeup used on her face is not your cheap drugstore makeup, it definitely must be branded! Considering the fact that Mashal has no exposure & she is just a college-going girl who comes back to her simple si Dadi ma, her on-fleek makeup makes it look like she is obsessed with Nida Yasir’s morning show Good Morning Pakistan & she keenly follows the episodes dedicated to makeup which are conducted by makeup artists like Wajid Khan or Kashee. Alizeh Shah’s makeup actually is perfect but this is what the issue is – she doesn’t need so much of makeup as it makes it hard to feel for her & find her realistic. In Jo Tu Chahay, she has not worn eyeliner once but the rest of the face is so over-done that it doesn’t really matter. Her foundation is perfect, her face is heavily bronzed & hair are always straightened & just perfect. She really should share her beauty secrets with school/college-going girls out there because I am pretty sure, the one & the only thing thing those hard-working girls sport proudly at this age, is the sun-tan!
Ayeza Khan (Koi Chand Rakh)
In Koi Chand Rakh, Ayeza Khan took the title of the drama seriously & decided to play the role of ‘Chaand’ because she went for foundation probably 5 shades lighter than her skin-tone. She also played the role of ‘Chaandni’ because she decided to douse her face with shimmery highlighters. Ayeza Khan played the role of Dr. Rabail & in the very first introductory scene, where Dr. Rabail was shown to be on a long-duty, she looked like she had just finished walking the ramp for a fashion show & came backstage. Her hair was perfectly straightened, complexion was rosy, cheeks perfectly blushed, entire face highlighted, lips a perfect shade of pink & eye makeup done with expensive makeup brushes. The rest of Dr. Rabail’s journey was nothing short of a nightmare with her (makeup loving) husband cheating on her & everyone turning against her but again, her makeup remained perfect & the highlighter didn’t lose its intensity. Ayeza Khan is also one of those actresses who can do with the least amount of makeup & still look good on screen but she chooses not to walk that path!
So, these were the actresses who recently played the characters of victims in their dramas yet succeeded in looking absolutely gorgeous. Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was interesting. It is nice to see Ammar & his side of the people facing the consequences of their wrongdoings. The writer has been successful in conveying the concept of ‘what goes around comes around’. Khaas has happened to be one such drama which has remained consistently interesting & engaging. Sarwat Nazeer definitely should take a bow for bringing such a complex, never-seen-before sort of a concept & not only doing justice to it but elaborating it in such a crystal clear manner. It is nice to see Saba’s mental & emotional transition as well. Danish Nawaz has proved himself as a director, it is good to see him directing such a script with such clarity because the story & script of Khaas was all about having the emotions conveyed loud & clear & achieving that was no easy feat, but Danish Nawaz succeeded in elaborating everything. Hats off!
Getting Served, What You Deserve:
So, Salma conveyed it to Ammar that she was done with him. Ammar & his family can live with this false sense of satisfaction that Salma didn’t deserve Ammar & they got lucky that she is finally out of his life, but the truth is, everything that Salma has said & done has left an impact, it has scarred them emotionally & the best part is, Salma has forced them to think about the fact that may be all of them were actually wrong. Ammar & his family are in denial, none of them is ready to accept that yes, Ammar has been unfair & he mistreated Saba. Ammar is constantly being reminded of the things Salma said to him, this is probably the first time in his life that he has gotten a reality check. A cold hard truth served to him that he is not ‘perfect’. For the first time ever, Ammar got to know that he is the reason behind his unsuccessful marriages & that he is not infallible.
Ammar’s chapter for Salma was pretty much done & dusted but it was unfortunate that her mother didn’t hold back in ruining Nida’s proposal. Obviously, you do get served what you deserve but Salma’s mother seemed like a hypocrite talking about the manipulation of the women in Ammar’s family whereas she herself was being the manipulator in this situation. This drama has perfectly shown how egoistic a human being can be & how it is so easy for everyone to be blind to their own faults & finding it very easy to be nitpicking others for their shortcomings. Salma didn’t care much, she was done with Ammar & she didn’t bother with whatever was going to happen with Nida afterwards.
Kanwal has for the longest time stayed ignorant of Ammar & his misbehavior. She has spent her entire motherhood in this false idea that she has raised a gentleman who can do nothing wrong. Even though Kanwal was an understanding mother-in-law to Saba who never stopped her from meeting her family & believed in giving her the space that she wanted but when it comes to being a mother, she was flawed & typical to believe that her son is entitled to mistreating women. Kanwal for the first time was forced to think about the things Salma said & the guilt of misjudging Saba surfaced too. Props to Sarwat Nazeer for showing the comparison between two daughters – Kanwal thought misjudging Saba’s character was her right but now she felt helpless when she could not stop people from gossiping about Nida being involved with Ammar’s friend. I like how they have shown that slowly & steadily, everyone is being faced with such situations where they are being forced to put things into perspective.
Nida’s wedding got called off & she was down but yes, she was the first one to say it out loud that this all came back to her because she was wrong in misjudging Saba. She was unfair to Saba & that she played a part in insinuating that Saba was cheating on Ammar. I really like Sonia’s character, her character is actually like a breath of fresh air. Even though she hardly gets the coverage & that is actually enough & strategic but it is an intelligent way of the writer & the director to put the message across because it does leave an impact. In the drama filled with women like Kanwal, Pupho, Nida, Sadaf & Samreen, it is so nice to see a girl like Sonia who doesn’t believe in being judgmental, she minds her own business, tells others to do that too, speaks her mind, is the voice of reason & most importantly, does not believe in having a negative thinking or a negative mindset. Sonia has had limited scenes but the message that she conveys definitely gets heard because again, this is Sarwat Nazeer’s non-preachy way of preaching something useful & important. Well Done!
Saba faced Ammar & she confidently put him into his right place. Ammar hadn’t even recovered from the bitter truth Salma said to his face & there came Saba with a completely changed personality – far more confident & fearless, someone who could not look into his eyes & show him that she was finally living her dream, with a guy Ammar looked down upon. Ammar never had imagined that he will ever get to see Saba like that. Saba was happy that she finally conquered her fears & that she didn’t hold back in giving Ammar a piece of her mind but oh well, one thing is definitely bothering me. I really don’t want them to give this story a tragic turn by killing the character of Fakhir. Let them live happily ever after. Fakhir continues to talk about him not being around Saba forever, which goes to show that Saba will be left alone? Now when I think of the OST ‘wo jo THA bohat hi Khaas’, is it about Fakhir’s character that he ‘was’ someone who came in Saba’s life to change her for better, then left & became someone from the past? Please don’t do this to us. They have shown Saba’s misery for a long long time, so they should end the drama that they both lived happily ever after. The dream that Fakhir had about meeting an accident is another dreadful hint about the fate his character might meet. Please don’t do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another thing worth mentioning about Saba & Fakhir’s relationship is how they have shown that when a couple shares the same mental wavelength & they have a lot of understanding, they don’t find it odd to defy the norms. In their relationship, Saba had always been passionate about working & doing a job, so Fakhir has helped her materialize her dream. Saba fell in love with Fakhir for the kind of person he is, that is why she has never once tried to change him or drive him to something that he is not too keen on. Fakhir is an artist, he likes being in his own shell, his own comfort zone, he paints, he creates, he is happy & that is why Saba is happy with him. I liked how they touched upon this subject slightly that Sadaf (being the unreasonable woman that she is) tried to ask Fakhir about his earning but Saba has it all figured out, she does not have any demands & she is totally fine with working. Fakhir wants Saba to work for herself & not to provide a living for him & that is why now he is thinking on those lines because he has realized that he has a responsibility as well. I like how they both are not too pushy & are just going with the flow – accepting each other & just being happy!
The best scene of this episode was Ammar & Fakhir’s confrontation. It was so amusing where Ammar was fabricating lies in front of Fakhir & both Fakhir & Saba couldn’t stop smirking because they could totally see how Ammar was making a fool of himself. I mean after so much has happened in Ammar’s life, he still hasn’t learnt his lesson. May be he needs more reality checks or something huge to change him forever. I actually want to see Ammar’s suffering as in after him realizing the fact that he is the one solely responsible for being left alone. Right now he is being forced to think about everything but he still is in denial, this showed when he said those mean things to Fakhir, yes, I want to see how he will react when he will actually realize & hold himself responsible!
I don’t really think Farah’s track should’ve evolved this way. Kamran seemed to be a very rational & wise person so I guess they could’ve shown him having a detailed conversation with Farah making her understand how Ammar has been wrong. I feel in this game of ‘karma’ Farah was unnecessarily dragged. Just because she didn’t speak up for Saba, didn’t mean that her husband should’ve left her for someone else & for the sake of children. This entire drama has been so unpredictable & non-typical that I feel this typical treatment given to Farah’s track is hard to accept & doesn’t really go well with the overall theme of the drama. They could’ve easily shown Farah & Kamran leading a normal life with Farah actually understanding her husband’s point of view & then seeing Saba in a different light. Farah on her own could totally see Ammar being wrong but she never had the courage to say that to either Ammar or Kanwal, so yes, I don’t really think she should’ve paid the price of staying quiet this way. Not a convincing turn in Farah’s track. However yes, having said that, I do get agitated with Farah’s silence. I do feel she should talk to Kanwal & tell her the truth that she failed as a mother & that she raised a narcissist who is now getting what he deserves.
Closing Thoughts – Please Let It Be a Happy Ending:
Overall, this episode of Khaas was really interesting but yes, even though I had a good laugh at Fakhir/Ammar’s scene, I am kind of feeling heavy-hearted thinking about Fakhir’s dream. Please don’t do this to the viewers of Khaas who have loved this drama & have invested so much time in it. It is absolutely FINE with give a drama a happy ending. When I saw Ammar telling lies to Fakhir, I thought may be his dream was symbolic & that may be Ammar will create a rift between Fakhir & Saba but hearing him talk about not being around Saba for all her life is ringing the alarms. Let’s see. All the actors have been beyond brilliant & totally convincing in playing their roles. This drama is still a treat, let’s hope it doesn’t turn into a sour candy. If you talk about being touched, raped or sexually abused; you’re the one who is easily blamed for it. Yes, it is instantly shown as to be the victims fault. On the other hand, victims are told to stay quiet about being abused so as not to bring shame to the family in the society.
Inter faith marriages
Inter faith marriages are still considered a taboo in many countries especially Pakistan. While Shia-Sunni marriages are still allowed, it is much more harder to get married into a different sect or religion.
Getting divorced
“A divorced daughter is better than a dead one.”

Many girls are killed by their own families in the name of honor just because they chose to do something which their family was against. How in the world is killing your own sister or daughter be called honorable? This practice instantly needs to end and murderers need to be shamed and ridiculed.
Importance of sex education
Sexual assaults have been on the rise and sadly, do not show any signs of stopping as the victims are mostly shamed and perpetrators are left free to roam about. With the rise in sexual assaults especially against minors, children need to know what is right and what is wrong, and the difference between good touch and bad touch. They need to be aware of what will happen to their bodies and how to protect themselves.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Pakistan. They are visiting different places yesterday, the royal highnesses were given a reception at the Pakistan National Monument in Islamabad hosted by the British High Commissioner of Pakistan Thomas Drew.
Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William, and Kate Middleton started off their third day in Pakistan by visiting Chitral. The couple will be visiting tourist spots to know more about Pakistani traditions and culture.
William and Kate were given a book commemorating Princess Diana’s 1991 visit. The residents also gifted an embroidered coat to Prince William and a shawl to Kate.
The locals welcomed the royal couple and entertained them by performing a traditional Kalash dance performed by the locals of Chitral.
