Alif Episode 2 Story Review – A Visual Treat

Opening Thoughts – Visual Treat:

Ohkay so, this episode of Alif ended too soon. Alif is such a visual treat but I must say I am so impressed that there is so much more that meets the eye than just the visuals. Haseeb Hassan has shown his caliber as a director in Alif & the first two episodes have depicted the kind of vision he had for a script like Alif. This episode of Alif was beyond brilliant & just like the first episode, this too felt like a well-directed movie which had so much to offer. One of the strongest aspects of this drama so far happens to be the to-the-point approach of the director, there is so much that has been explained but a lot more which has not met the detailing, which shows that the director wanted the viewers to also untie the knots themselves while watching every single episode of Alif. This episode of Alif was impressive because of the way the mood & the feel kept on changing within each scene. The best part is that even in every single scene, every character gets enough attention so that their emotions can surface. Alif so far has been nothing short of a treat & I can’t begin to imagine how much better it is going to get.

Loss of Hope, Loss of Connection:

Momina did not get much coverage in this episode but I loved how the director drew a comparison between Momina & Qalb e Momin in the initial scenes. Their lives are on completely different stages, they both themselves are in very different phases in their lives but one thing that is common between them is the lost connection with their Creator, which to some extent is a form of their weak faith. Umera Ahmed once again succeeded in elaborating the spiritual struggles of people, who when tested by their Creator either get to establish a stronger connection or lose it completely. One thing that was similar in little Momin & Momina Sultan’s journey was a ray of hope that kept their faith alive & the moment they felt they were losing hope – was the time when they actually lost the connection with Allah.

Momina had to let go the love of her life Faisal (Osman Khalid Butt). They both had liking for each other but Faisal didn’t paint any false picture in front of Momina. Faisal let Momina know that her family background was questionable. Momina must have loved Faisal with all her heart considering that she still thought of him but for Faisal, it was too obvious that his relationship with Momina was becoming a burden to him. Momina let go of him because she realized that she had to take care of her brother. Momina did bravely take up the challenges but because she is a human being after all, she tends to get tired too.

Momina’s interaction with Master Jee (Saife Hassan) was beautiful & heart-wrenching. It was nice to see that there is at least one person that Momina confides in, someone who understands her struggles & feels for her. Momina is losing hope, not in Allah but like she said, because things are not working at all, she is forced to think that may be Allah doesn’t love her. That entire conversation was simple but it had such a deep meaning, it showed how trials & tribulations not only affect people on the surface, but they leave you feeling uncertain, ambiguous, doubtful & hopeless from within as well. “Sab Allah ke hain, bas Momina Allah ki nahi hai” depicted how Momina was losing control of her emotions & she could not find that hope which would help her to hold onto her faith in Allah. Sajal Aly is such a phenomenal performer, she moved me to tears in just that short scene. I love how they have shown that Momina Sultan does calligraphy & it works as a catharsis for her. This is the only thing that she is doing for herself & it gives her peace. Beautiful!

I loved how they showed a contrast in the lives of people who belonged to the same field but were on very different levels. There was Momina who was even questioning the kind of work she was being forced to do in order to provide for her family & on the other hand, there was Qalb e Momin, who was enjoying the limelight & there was no one to question him about the kind of work he was doing. Momina was failing but Qalb e Momin stood tall & arrogant. Qalb e Momin has reached the level where people actually deem him as a sign of success & Qalb e Momin is not ashamed to admit that he has achieved everything on his own & he actually wants people to envy him. Qalb e Momin thinks he has overcome his vulnerabilities by carrying this facade in front of the whole wide world but as the episode progressed, it showed that his vulnerabilities were just intact & he was very much aware of them all. Qalb e Momin is at the stage where he wants people to only talk about his success & present, that is why he has kept everyone in the dark about his past. Qalb e Momin is not only hiding a lot, he is even ashamed to admit that his past was not according to his idea of perfect just like his present is.

The rest of the episode just covered Qalb e Momin’s success party & the get together he had at his place. It was interesting to see how people are attracted towards Qalb e Momin because of what he has, not because of what or who he is. Shelly was playing her game too & then Neha, the fashion designer was two-timing Qalb e Momin. Neha obviously is involved with Zulfi & she is cheating on Qalb e Momin. He doesn’t know that yet but he will slowly learn that the world that he was creating on his own, which was purely based on his success was surrounded by all those who wanted to enjoy a piece of it without being loyal to him. Qalb e Momin will get to learn that his success brought nothing but insincere people in his life & he will realize that the success that he so arrogantly flaunts comes with the territory.

Qalb e Momin is chasing after something, he has burnt all the bridges from the past & he has now engulfed himself in this world of his own which has nothing to do with the people from his past. This is the reason why even though he had immense respect for Dada Jaan (Manzar Sehbai), he was not in touch with him. Qalb e Momin knows that his Dada Jaan is the only link to his painful past, that is why he was not too keen about him. I loved Dada Jaan’s entry & his demeanour. The director, at the right time took the story into the past & linked it with the present. The young innocent Momin that we saw writing letters to Allah was the ace director Qalb e Momin of today. Qalb e Momin saw his mother & his grandfather chasing after his father Taha who estranged them & ran away. Momin, at a very young age got to experience what heartbreak & disloyalty is. What losing hope feels like. The scene where Momin tore his letters apart was beautifully done, it showed that by tearing those letters, Momin had given up on the hope that he had & that very hope was basically his connection with Allah, which was lost right at that moment & after that, Momin never really got back to fix that bond.

Dada Jaan, a practicing Muslim did not judge Qalb e Momin for who he had become but yes, he was sad to see the path that his grandson was walking upon. Dada Jaan could totally see that Qalb e Momin had lost his path, he had lost his faith & he turned into someone he did not recognize. The scene where Qalb e Momin was trying to ignore the call for prayer was dark but was done so well. It depicted the battle that Qalb e Momin & a lot of people like him fight every single day – where they do get the reminders but they force themselves to ignore those reminders. Qalb e Momin might have lost his connection at a very young age, but there is still something in him, it was expressed when he turned the paintings & stowed one of them away. The little nuances make a whole lot of difference in the drama-watching experience. Dada Jaan obviously was now finding out things about Qalb e Momin because he was out of touch with him for so long, he never really wrote him back therefore Dada Jaan did not know what Qalb e Momin was upto. He not only was taken aback, but it was obvious that he was now feeling a little disappointed. I can not wait to see the impact Dada Jaan will have on Qalb e Momin’s life!

Closing Thoughts – Perfection:

This episode of Alif was perfect in literal sense. Be it dramatization, picturization, art direction, acting, characterization & display of emotions – everything is subtle yet so clear & it absolutely leaves an impact & allows the viewer to ponder about what they are watching. The dialogues are simple but they carry so much of meaning. Hamza Ali Abbasi, as arrogant Qalb e Momin is so convincing. He has embraced this character in such a way that I am finding it hard to even imagine who else could’ve played the role of Qalb e Momin with this much perfection. Sajal Aly is such a fine actor, in such short scenes, she has left such a huge impression as Momina Sultan, the desperate, eager, helpless Momina Sultan who just wants to save her brother. Yashma Gill & Sadaf Kanwal did justice to the characters they have been assigned to play but their performances were the kind that anybody could’ve portrayed with just this much ease & it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. Manzar Sehbai’s screen presence & his minute expressions were a treat to watch. Pehlaaj Hassan has breathed life into the scenes of young Momin, who saw his mother’s sufferings. Hasseb Hassan should take a bow for giving such a convincing start to a story like Alif. Eager to watch the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 9 – Best One So Far

This was undoubtedly the best episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho since it was brilliantly directed and acted-out. The main twist in this episode was completely unexpected and the situations shown before and after the main incident kept me hooked throughout. With this episode I really felt like we might get to watch an old story with a new perspective after all. Danish’s reaction to every single development tonight was the highlight of this episode, his character is turning out to be a complex and interesting one. Nadeem Baig’s direction has been superb but tonight it was simply outstanding. The camera work, duration of the scenes, the locations and background score, every aspect was right on point. It is good to see a man on screen for a change who is afraid to lose his wife and who is willing to fight for her without actually fighting with her. This episode kept me hooked throughout since it was absolutely brilliant and there were no commercial breaks tonight. Meray Pass Tum Ho’s producers definitely are trying their best to keep up with the competition by introducing the main twist at a time when Alif just aired and once again by showing an episode without any commercial breaks.

Roomi’s First Day of School

While Roomi and his father got ready for school, Mehwish had her own plans. Once again, the writer in a really realistic way showed how Mehwish was drifting away from this life and getting cozy in a world which right now was like a temporary escape. Mehwish’s transition yet again was shown through little gestures like her lack of excitement regarding Roomi’s admission, her lack of interest when Roomi was leaving for school since she had more exciting things to look forward to and most of all the confidence with which she lied to her husband without feeling guilty. Mehwish has convinced herself that she is entitled to all this and it is almost as if she has accepted that her job indeed is to please Shahwar.

Mehwish’s scenes with Roomi were such a nice addition to this episode. She does not tell him off and whenever she interacts with him it’s in a very loving and sweet manner yet she is not as interested in his life as she was before. Mehwish thinks she can give her son a better life if she earns more money but clearly Roomi was the one who suffered the most in this episode. While he was not shown as a victim but clearly a child deserves better than coming back home to a father who is in depression and being left alone at night all by himself because his parents are too busy in their own affairs. Danish is not the one at fault here but his attitude shows that sometimes not taking a stand too can hurt your children in more ways than one. It is rather strange that we never see Roomi complaining, he is a sweet kid who obviously got a lot of love all these years and he is also used to having his mother around all the time yet not once did he ask his mother to accompany him to the school. Perhaps, the writer is trying to show that he is more close to his father since he complained to him when he left him unaccompanied at home.

I absolutely love the child star playing this role, his crackling on-screen chemistry with Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan both makes their scenes realistic. The scenes which were shot outdoor were once again my favorite. Shooting such scenes during day time is nothing short of a challenge yet Nadeem Baig has managed to shoot them convincingly and brilliantly. I especially liked the scene showing Danish and Roomi on the motor bike when they were going to school. It’s actually disturbing how comfortable Mehwish and Danish are with Roomi coming home in the van (I presume) and being home alone with the helper all day.

Danish’s Mental Turmoil

Danish’s mental turmoil was shown convincingly in this episode. Although he has been going along with everything Mehwish has shown interest in doing but the fact is that he is not okay with it. Tonight he clearly told Mehwish that he was scared of her and he knew that she was going to do whatever she wanted to with or without his consent therefore he was just pretending that he didn’t have a problem with her job or choices. All the scenes covering Danish’s confusion and his restlessness were acted-out and written brilliantly. Finally after finding out what Mehwish had been up to behind his back, for the first time he put his foot down and told her not to go to the office. When he blamed his over-possessiveness in the beginning it was quite obvious that he was saying all this out of fear because he was now more afraid than ever to lose Mehwish. It was interesting how this situation was shown. Danish’s bitterness and his anger showed in his attitude but he was clearly ‘scared’ of saying more. Danish’s conversations with Mateen sahab were a nice addition to this episode. Finally there is someone he can talk to and Mateen sahab seems like a genuinely nice person who has learned from his mistakes. Humayum Saeed’s performance in this episode was truly impressive. Syed Muhammad Ahmed is an ace actor, looking forward to seeing more of him.

Mehwish’s Stubbornness

The way Mehwish went ahead with her plan and the manner in which she was sleeping peacefully in the hotel room went to show that she was more than willing to play the role Shahwar wanted her to play. She has convinced herself that she is not doing anything wrong and when Danish was there at the airport, she was so confident about it all. She was more than willing to accept the consequences perhaps because she knew that she had someone to fall back on. Even then after reaching home, she acted as if nothing happened. Once again she apologized, gave an explanation and expected Danish to move on. Mehwish knows that she is wrong but at the same time she does not want to be held accountable for her actions. Her situation too is quite interesting since her love for status and money is the driving force in her life right now, everything else is secondary. Ayeza Khan looked absolutely stunning in some of the scenes tonight and she has nailed this character. I wish she would stop being so apologetic in interviews for playing this character since she has done complete justice to it.

Final Remarks

Some of the dialogues tonight were beautifully written and this episode was also well-paced, there wasn’t a single scene which was out of place. All the actors performed exceptionally well. Nadeem Baig deserves an award for his direction since he has breathed life into every single scene by capturing it so well on screen. Adnan Siddiqui has acted just as brilliantly as Ayeza and Humayun. Apart from the direction, the flawless acting makes this drama engaging even though it has been relatively slow-paced. The upcoming episode it seems is going to be just as interesting as this one, looking forward to it.

This was definitely a must watch episode which actually had the twist everyone was waiting to see but the reactions we got were different from what we were expecting to see and personally I liked the writer’s take.

Hadiqa Kiani Shared The Reason Of Her Divorce

Hadiqa Kiani is a famous Pakistani singer and songwriter. She has earned her degree in Psychology. In 2010, she was appointed as a United Nations Development Programme Goodwill ambassador, making her the first woman in Pakistan to a Goodwill ambassador to the United Nations.

Hadiqa lives with her mother. She has also adopted a son named Naad-e-Ali from Edhi Foundation. Later, she married a UK based businessman, Syed Fareed Sarwary. In 2008, Hadiqa divorced Syed Fareed Sarwary.

Hadiqa appeared in Samina Peerzada’s show in which she talked about love, her reason for divorce and many more things.

“After my first divorce, a person entered my life. He was there at a distance. I was single and I wanted to be a mother and when I discussed this with him he said ‘yes’. The reason for my second marriage is my son because I wanted a father’s name on his head. We have technical issues like there should be a father’s name in passport and also in the guardian’s option,” Hadiqa shared.

Hadiqa talked about her struggles and said, “I went through all this then I decided I should give a normal life to my child. He should get both his mother’s and father’s love. In October, I adopted a baby and in December I did phone marriage. At that time, I believed it was the right time and my son will get love but it didn’t turn to me as I thought. It ended up in February.”

Lubin (Leprachaun)

Lubin is the main antagonist in the film Leprachaun in which he believes someone stole his pot of gold. The idea of having an itchy palm generally refers to someone who is greedy or has an insatiable desire for money. A right itchy palm means money coming in while a left itchy palm means money going out. The superstition warns you not to scratch your palm unless you want to reverse the effect.

Walking under a ladder (Bad luck)

The shape of an open ladder is a triangle, which signifies life in some mythologies. Triangle is also the symbol of illuminati. If you walk under a ladder, which takes the shape of a triangle when it is rested along a wall, you run the risk of awakening spirits that live within the triangle, including evil spirits who may not be happy with the disturbance. Also practically walking under a ladder could be harmful if something fell on you and you hurt yourself.

Breaking a mirror (Bad luck)

Many superstitious people say breaking a mirror sets you up for 7 years of bad luck. In the past, when people were more superstitious, mirrors were thought to be reflections of the soul. So breaking a mirror was believed to be harmful to the soul.

A Horseshoe is considered a lucky symbol in many cultures especially if one end is pointing towards you. People usually place a horseshoe at the entrance of their homes to fill it with good luck for the members of the household. One superstitious belief says the number of nails left on an abandoned horseshoe reveal how many years of good luck are coming your way.

Opening an umbrella inside (Bad luck)

Opening an umbrella inside signifies impending death or ill fortune for the person who opened it or members of the house. It can also practically be prone to breaking things around the house or hurting someone.

Knocking twice on wood (Reverse bad luck)

There was a time when cultures believed Gods lived in trees and to ask a favor from the Gods, people would lightly tap on the tree. This is where this superstition originated from as a thank you or to receive good luck one can knock on wood twice.

Opening Thoughts – Interesting & Brilliant:

Ohkay so, this episode of Ishq Zahe Naseeb was once again quite interesting. It is good to see the story of Ishq Zahe Naseeb finally progressing at a decent pace with every single episode bringing one interesting scenario after another. Another brilliant aspect of Ishq Zahe Naseeb is the spell-binding performances given by all the actors. They all have not only embraced their characters but have given such performances that they don’t let you look away from the TV screen. The director deserves full credit for having such a clear and perfect vision for a script like this & then all the actors coming together, following his lead to bring such an amazing drama to our TV screens!

Some Secrets Somewhat Revealed:

Sameer and Kashif finally came together for the sake of a project. Jabbar and Dunia were helping too but for the first time, Dunia seemed a little less focused on her work because now she had her future to plan ahead, that too with her life partner. Dunia has seen Kashif’s potential & she knows that he will deal with the project vigilantly, that is why she was now taking it easy. The shift in Dunia’s attitude, her personality & her overall demeanor is quite interesting & it has been elaborated brilliantly by Zarnish Khan. Dunia knows that Kashif was in love with someone else, that is why she has now started to feel the insecurity creeping into her thoughts. Dunia confessed that she has actually fallen in love with Kashif but then again, she said it with a lot of maturity & grace. Her confession wasn’t cheesy or did not make her look like she was desperate. Yes, she is a mature girl, who has gone through a heartbreak, that is why she was giving words to her feelings. Dunia has seen that she can trust Kashif, that is why she showed him her vulnerable side. Dunia knows that Kashif understands her, this is why she let him know that she was kind of feeling insecure & she wanted to be sure whether he was happy or not. Jabbar can totally see that Kashif is not as emotionally invested in Dunia as she is but still, he is not saying anything because he is hoping things will change & Kashif will compromise – again something that Jabbar as a father is hoping & wishing for.

Kashif found himself at crossroads. Obviously he has not forgotten Gauhar, he has not even moved on, he is just dealing with his pain by putting a brave face but he still loves Gauhar, however he did think he will be able to curb his feelings for Gauhar aside to make way for Dunia in his heart & life but once again, just the name of Gauhar was enough to make him face the truth. He has not forgotten Gauahr & he will continue to love him. Gauhar found out about Kashif & Dunia’s engagement & she decided it was best for her to leave because she couldn’t deal with it, neither did she want to face Kashif just after she had found out. Gauhar & Kashif both are guilt-stricken because they think they betrayed one another, however they both just prioritized their families over themselves. Let’s see when will they find out about the secret!

Sabiha has started manipulating Sameer again but this time around, Sameer has realized that Natasha is a spy planted by Sabiha in his office & he can clearly see that she is keeping tabs on him. Sabiha does not want Gauhar to be around Sameer because she has picked up on the fact that Gauhar is not only sharp, she is far too intelligent for Sabiha’s liking. Sabiha has her own interests in Sameer’s life & his business, she is purely selfish that is why she wants Sameer to stay away from Gauhar. Sameer however found a way to appoint Gauhar back & I loved the way Sameer reminded Gauhar of her loan for the first time. It just showed that he was eager to keep her closer, so he used the loan as an excuse to make Gauhar stay. Sameer has gotten used to the idea of having Gauhar around. He actually has developed a lot of liking for her & now that he knows that Sabiha is trying to stop him, he will obviously become more eager to be with her. Sameer is not going to follow Sabiha’s instructions, may be because for the first time, being with Gauhar has taught him what it feels like to be free, that is why he is not ready to give up on Gauhar just so easily.

Gauhar’s curiosity took her to Surraiya Begum – Sameer’s biological mother. Gauhar is not going to stop, she will continue to see her till she gets to hear her side of the story & find out the truth. Gauhar definitely left an impression on Suraiya begum, so let’s see when she will be able to persuade her to break her silence.

The confrontation between Sameer & Sabiha was intense & my absolute favorite scene of this episode. Sameer thought he had everything under control but then Sabiha stood there to test his patience. Sabiha has played the victim all her life & she has made Sameer believe that she has selflessly raised him up but for the first time, Sameer was forced to say the truth out loud. Sabiha only looked after Sameer because she had her own personal interests & she knew that she will gain a lot out of it. She only dealt with, rather tolerated Sameer because as per the will of her husband, she had no choice. Also because Sabiha knows about Sameer’s multiple personality disorder, it kind of makes sense that she has used it against him time & again, she has threatened him & intimidated him with the idea of getting him exposed, only to keep Sameer under control. For the first time Sabiha got to see that Sameer was breaking free from her cage & all of this was only because of Gauhar. Sameer reacted because Sabiha told him that he was not allowed to be with Gauhar – this should be enough to let her know that Sameer’s feelings for Gauhar are real. In that particular scene both Ismat Zaidi & Zahid Ahmed were on fire – what amazing acting I must say! Loved it!

Closing Thoughts – This Episode Belonged to Ismat Zaidi & Zahid Ahmed:

Overall, this episode of Ishq Zahe Naseeb was superb. I am now keen to learn more about Sabiha. It is worth noticing how the writer has kept the actual cards concealed so far & pages are being turned one after another. There is so much more to Sabiha that meets the eye & I want to find out more about her. I so hope Surraiya Begum speaks up in the next couple of episodes so that we get to understand the actual story. All the actors are performing brilliantly be it Sonya Hussyn, Sami Khan, Zarnish Khan or all the supporting actors. However, this episode surely belonged to Ismat Zaidi & Zahid Ahmed. Morning shows in general are criticized by the masses and with time many of these shows have come to an end. Right now among all the leading morning show hosts, Nida Yasir is the only one who continues to do her job otherwise either the hosts have moved to a different direction or the channels have closed down these shows altogether. There have been times too when Nida got too emotional for some reason or the other. Sometimes this reason was personal and at other times it was because of the real life stories which the guests were narrating.

Talking About Mother-in-Law’s Death

Nida Yasir’s mother-in-law sadly passed away when she was away for holidays with her husband and children. When Nida Yasir came back to host her first show after her mother-in-law’s demise, she talked about how she, her husband and children felt when they got the news while they were abroad on an island. Nida narrated that they wanted to fly back home but they could not get the flights and this was a moment of extreme helplessness. Nida got really emotional while talking about it . Nida Yasir shared that her husband obviously was in such a state that he couldn’t function because of the grief. As a result, Nida Yasir had to make all the arrangements which was really difficult for her at a time when she too was awfully sad because of the tragic news of her mother-in-law’s death.

Sharing Views About Online Criticism

Nida Yasir got really emotional while talking about the online criticism against her in a closed group owned by a female blogger. This was few days after her mother-in-law’s death when ARY aired a recorded show in which Nida Yasir showed all her shopping from her trips abroad. Nida Yasir was particularly criticized on one specific page for doing so right after her mother-in-law’s death. Nida Yasir was fuming when she explained that this was a recorded show and she had not been doing any such shows when her mother-in-law passed away. She also got really infuriated and started crying while she talked about how she felt about these comments. She questioned all such people and threatened them too. She said that these comments and the way some people tried to contact her husband could destroy her home. Nida Yasir was also disturbed because of the language used by some people on that forum.

While Discussing Zainab’s Murder Case

Nida Yasir did a special show in which she talked about child molestation and the murder of Zainab in particular. Nida Yasir’s emotional speech in this show was criticized severely because it looked staged. It was like she was giving a performance to show her support for the victim instead of voicing her opinions in an honest way. Nida Yasir could have talked about this issue without learning the lines but she didn’t do so. Surely this was a case which affected everyone but this emotionalism was not liked by the public.

Dr. Bilquis Talks About her Deceased Father

Dr. Bilquis has been coming as an expert guest on Good Morning Pakistan for many years now. Dr. Bilquis narrated how her father passed away and how desperately she tried to save him. This was one of the most emotional shows which is why even Nida got extremely sad. All the guests present at the show and even those sitting in the audience felt Dr. Bilquis’ pain. This show was one of the most emotional shows Nida Yasir has hosted.

When Shabbir Jaan Left Her Show

Shabbir Jaan was invited as a guest in Nida Yasir morning show and he had been warned that there were going to be some questions which he might not like but he agreed to answer them. Every time he answered a question he was told that he was not telling the truth, he eventually lost his cool and left the show. Nida Yasir also took off her heels and decided to walk out after saying that she was not going to be a part of such a show. Later on, recently in an interview Shabbir Jaan shared that although he knew that they were going to ask some personal questions but the way he was treated at this show was absurd which is why he walked out. Many people thought all of this was staged but the truth is that no one expected Shabbir Jaan to react in such a manner which is why Nida Yasir got really emotional as if she was fed up of hosting a show with such content.

Shamoon Abbasi has showcased that marriage may not be for him but when it comes to work, he is fully dedicated and a workaholic. Shamoon Abbasi has also veered towards social welfare and activism. Faysal Qureshi

Faysal Qureshi got married at a tender age of 18 to Ayesha Agha, this was even before his acting career was established. The couple stayed together for quite 7 years and had a daughter Hanish Qureshi who now lives with him. Faysal Qureshi again got married around the age of 28 and the couple had a son Nael Qureshi. Faysal Qureshi and his second wife got divorced 2 years after their marriage. His second wife along with their son moved to UK. Noor explained that Vikram had lied to her about his reversion to Islam and when she found out, she tried to revert him but he refused. This led to their divorce. Noor then got married to director producer Farooq Mengal in 2010, however this marriage lasted a few months. Noor explained that she found out her husband was cheating on her, that is why she decided to part ways with him. In the year 2012, Noor Bukhari got married to Awn Chaudhry. Noor had a baby girl whom she named Fatima but this marriage ended as well. Noor Bukhari then got married to singer Wali Hamid Khan in 2015, the couple had their Nikkah ceremony on their own because Wali’s family was not supportive of this marriage. However, Wali did convince his family and that is when they made the news of their marriage public but unfortunately, few months later, the couple got divorced and people also got to witness unpleasant exchanges between the couple as well. Noor Bukhari has stated in an interview that even though her personal life has been turbulent, this has not shattered her trust in the institution of marriage. She still believes in marriage and the emotion of love. However, Noor now has started her journey of spirituality and she wants to focus on nothing else but her relationship with her Creator. There is probably no information about Nadia Khan’s first husband but in one of the shows, she did admit that she had been married once before she got married to Khawar Iqbal. It was Nadia Khan who filed for divorce in 2o12 and then she moved to Islamabad and took time off from the media. Nadia Khan then came back and started venturing into different projects. Fiza Ali

After Fiza Ali established herself as a model, she got married to a businessman in Karachi but this marriage was short-lived. Fiza Ali never really spoke openly about this marriage but in one of the talk shows, she did speak about her husband and her life in Karachi. This is the reason why there is not much information about Fiza’s first marriage on social media. Her second marriage to Fawad Farooq was made public where Fiza Ali allowed the pictures to circulate and she let it be a public affair. Fiza Ali moved to Lahore with Fawad Farooq and after trying for a few years, the couple succeeded in having a baby. Fiza Ali and Fawad Farooq had a daughter and they named her Faraal Fawad. Fiza Ali once again kept her divorce a very private affair and no one actually knew about the fact that Fiza and Fawad were no longer together. Khalid Malik did say that he was left bitter after this divorce but now when he looks back, he understands the lifelong lessons that experience taught him. His second wife was a choreographer and they both came back to Pakistan and pursue their careers. Khalid Malik explained that this marriage lasted for 8 years but they both had nothing in common except their passion and love for their work. This marriage ended smoothly where they both came to a mutual decision about it. Khalid Malik then got married third time to Mahrukh Abbasi, who happens to be Javeria Abbasi’s cousin. Mahrukh had been divorced before. Their first few interactions were purely work related where Mahrukh wanted to interview him. They both then developed understanding and got married. The couple has 3 children together. Khalid Malik explained that he not only appreciates everything that his wife does, he also acknowledges the fact that she is a very good mother. Khalid Malik is emotionally settled and has stated that he is a hands-on father. Mahrukh and Khalid have formed a healthy relationship with each other and have not let their past experiences change their perception about marriage.

Noman Javed

Singer and composer Noman Javed married to renowned singer Fariha Parvez in 2016 in a private ceremony in Lahore. Noman Javed was battling depression and he also attempted suicide but he was fortunately rescued and recovered. Azfar Ali did not address this issue but after a very long time, Salma Hassan broke the silence where she spoke about Azfar cheating on her and she coming to a decision that she had to let him go. Azfar Ali then got married to VJ and actor Naveen Waqar in 2012 and that is when people put the pieces of the puzzle together that Salma and Azfar got divorced because of Naveen Waqar. Both Azfar and Naveen stayed low-profile for a long time after their wedding and after they felt comfortable, they decided to speak about the criticism they had to face because of the decision they took for themselves as adults. People were curious to know about the reason for ending this show and Faysal Qureshi came forward and said, “I am not sad about the decision made by the management. I am aware of the conditions of showbiz and we need to work on that. I am very thankful for the management that they tried for the show despite the conditions. In the end, it’s all business, we get paid for it and we need to understand that if show is not earning then it’s better to shut it down. The people who are saying that it’s injustice with them they should understand.”

He further added, “I have done morning shows and now I see what changes come into my life. Yes, the big change will come that I focus more on acting.”

Durj receives standing ovation at London showcase premiere

Shamoon Abbasi’s Durj has been making some solid news around the world and domestically as well. Unfortunately while the film is facing serious censor board issues in Pakistan, it is earning critical acclaim overseas. The first showcase premiere of Durj in London, held at Bradford Cineworld received a 3 minute standing ovation after the film ended.

The news was shared by Shamoon Abbasi himself, on his social media.

“DURJ receives a “3 Minute Standing Ovation” at the Exclusive Screening held in Bradford Cineworld London, UK. Today was the very first showcase premiere of Durj to the world and the team is startled,” shared Shamoon on his Facebook.

Adding further, the actor and director for Durj, added his gratitude to the audience, “We are extremely humbled by the generous response of the audience and their reviews after seeing the film in all its glory. After all the blood, sweat & tears that have gone into bringing Durj to the big screen, this is an absolutely huge moment for us and we can’t put it into words.”

Announcing that Durj would release as per its schedule overseas on the 11th of October, Shamoon also stated, “We are thrilled and look forward to the opening of the film tomorrow, on a mass scale across the globe in the US, UK, Canada, Norway, and Denmark.”

While the film makes waves overseas, it is indeed sad to see it face serious censor board issues, even before its release in the home country. Shamoon Abbasi, recently also appealed to Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan and Prime Minister Imran Khan, to look into the matter directly and requested for a full board censor review that Durj rightfully deserved.

After having received its clearance certifcate from the Sindh and Punjab censor boards, Durj was banned without a solid grounds by the Islamabad censor board. No objections to language or scenes were given by the members of the censor board and the fate of Durj still remains undecided in Pakistan.

Earlier, Durj was slated to release across the country on 18th October. Depicting true incidents of cannibalism in Pakistan, Durj, inspired from a real life story, has been directed by Shamoon Abbasi and also stars himself, Sherry Shah, Maira Khan and Nouman Khan in pivotal roles in the film.

Mehwish Hayat appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for rights of girl child

Mehwish Hayat has added another feather to her hat of accomplishments. The Tamgha E Imtiaz recipient has now been named as the Goodwill Ambassador for rights of the girl child by the Human Rights Ministry of Pakistan.

“Delighted to be appointed by the Ministry of Human Rights as their Goodwill Ambassador for the rights of the girl child. This is something very close to my heart & I look forward to actively raising awareness of the issues to be addressed. Lets give girls the better future they deserve,” wrote Mehwish on her social media.

Addressing her audience in a video, Mehwish stated, “It is an honour for me to play a crucial role in helping girls get their rights. I wish to see a Pakistan where girls are given the opportunities to get education.”

Adding further, Mehwish also appealed to all Pakistanis to come forward and support her in mission to give girls the better future they deserve.

“Lets give girls the better future they deserve,” said Mehwish. Today, the world celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child, and what best to honor them by appointing an ambassador who’s not only committed but bold and strong enough to take that plunge for the little girls and what they rightfully deserve.

Mehwish Hayat was also appointed the Muslim charity Penny Appeal’s brand ambassador and recently made it to the list of The Muslim Vibe’s top five Muslim women in the world.

Back in August, Mehwish Hayat was also awarded the Pride of Performance in Norway where she used the platform to highlight how Pakistan was being targeted with negativity and that a better representation of the country was needed in the media on an international scale.

Meesha Shafi’s Case Has Been Dismissed By The Lahore High Court

The Lahore High Court has exonerated Ali Zafar for the third time.

Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of harassing her. She went to the court and filed the case against Ali Zafar.

The recent update is, Lahore High Court dismissed again an appeal filed by Meesha Shafi in her harassment case against Ali Zafar. In the appeal, filed on August 2018, Meesha Shafi had challenged the Punjab governor’s decision to dismiss her complaint against Zafar whom she has accused of sexual harassment. Justice Shahid Kareem announced the verdict in the case after hearing final arguments by the lawyers of both Shafi and Zafar.

Today, Barrister Ambreen Qureshi took to Twitter and shared the news that Meesha Shafi’s case has been dismissed by Lahore High Court and Ali Zafar has been exonerated for the third time by the court.
