Abida Parveen is a Pakistani singer counted amongst the world’s greatest mystic singers and one of the foremost exponents of Sufi music (Sufiana kalaam). The versatile singer is primarily a singer of ghazals and sings in several languages including Urdu, Sindhi, Saraiki, and Punjabi. She is the uncrowned queen of sufi music and is the pride of Pakistan. Not only has she made her name known and respected in Pakistan but world-wide too.

8969 an upcoming film (or tele film) starring Saba Qamar, Hussain Tiwana, Sadaf Hamid, Azeem Sajjad, Anam Malik, Haseeb Khan, Sama Shah, Noor-ul-Hassan, Princess Zoni, Oun Sarwar, &  A J Khan. It is directed by Azeem Sajjad. Azeem Sajjad is an actor/director from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who started his career from PTV Peshawar Center. Azeem Sajjad has recently directed the Pashto drama Za Pakhtoon Yum for Khyber TV.

The film also has a song starring Saba Qamar as Mastani which they are promoting as item song. However Saba Qamar has termed it as a routine song. Saba has also informed that it is a tele film, however the facebook page of 8969 is promoting it as a film.

Rashid Nazir Ali

An upcoming film ‘Saladin’ is set to shake the entertainment industry. The teaser which released recently proves that it’s not like any typical one but promises to be different and extremely interesting.

The film will be based on a Muslim ruler Salahuddin Ayyubi who was the first sultan of Egypt and Syria and the founder of the Ayyubid Dynasty. The movie is set to highlight the ruler’s compassion, generosity, military skills and most of all immense respect for all even during a period of hatred and religious fanaticism.

The teaser was shot entirely in Lahore and looks amazing. Umar Agha, a film graduate from Columbia University, is behind this concept and researched a lot to discover the legend Saladin (Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub). The teaser has already created buzz in Hollywood and there have been positive responses coming up. The team of ‘Saladin’ needs funds to continue their project and create a proper feature film.

We hope the team gets the funding it requires because we just can’t wait to see more of these impressive visuals.

Mai Dhai may have come to the forefront just a few years back, but has proved to be different yet entertaining. She rose to national prominence after appearing as a featured artist in eight season of music series Coke Studio. Her demure looks give no way to her prowess of capturing the audience with her wide range of rhythm, merged with the high-pitched and high-strung vocals that compel you to listen.

Dhai has collaborated with emerging singer Natasha Baig for the upcoming soundtrack. Produced by Saad Hayat, the song titled Kesaria is in Marvari language and will be released on January 15. The music video which has been directed by Hassan Ali Effendi and shot by Aamir Mughal explores the culture of Tharparkar. The teaser of Kesaria is out.

In conversation with the Hip, Natasha Baig stated, “The video of the song was shot in Thar. The song is in Marwari but there will be subtitles in the video, and I hope people appreciate the lyrics.”

According to Natasha, Mai Dhai came up with the idea for the collaboration. “We speak different languages, but we managed to build a bond.”

Sharing more on the theme of the song Natasha Baig said, “Kesaria means beloved, and anyone could be your beloved. This includes a lover, a friend , a parent, or even God.”

When asked about the theme of the video, Natasha stated, “We have shown a lot of peace and harmony in the video because in the place where it’s shot, Hindus and muslims live peacefully. They all dress the same and there’s now segregation based on religion.”

Teaser of upcoming film Azaadi is out. The teaser is simply amazing and will bring out the inner patriot in you. Azaadi is the first movie based on the cause of Kashmir and will show their struggle for freedom. It’s an ARY Productions film, directed by Imran Malik and produced by Imran Malik again and Irfan Malik. Zarrar is a film everyone has been waiting for, for quite a long time since it was announced by Shaan Shahid. ShaanShahidd is playing the lead character and he has also directed the movie. This is going to be an action-packed film based on some true events. The news has been that the film will be released finally this year.

Punjab Nahin Jaongi is out and the film is receiving good reviews and doing an excellent business all over the world. Team PNJ is busy promoting their film and they have attended every show. Sanam Baloch hosted the team on Eid’s second day show. Humayun Saeed, Urwa Hocane, Mehwish Hayat, Ahmed Ali Butt, Behroze Sabzwari, Safeena Sabzwari and director Nadeem Baig were the guests on the show.

Mehwish revealed on the show that when the offer came to her for the role she accepted it at once though Mehwish was not the first choice for Amal’s character. The role was first offered to Iman Ali who also did some rehearsals but things didn’t work out later on. Urwa on the other hand was so overwhelmed by the chance of working with a huge team that she didn’t even read the script before saying yes. The film is also marking the debut of Behroze Sabzwari’s wife Safeena. Ahmed Ali Butt was finalized for the film even before Humayun Saeed as the makers believed he was the man for the role.

The team was all praises for the director Nadeem Baig. Behroze Sabzwari even went on to say that maybe there are directors in Pakistan who were no doubt legendary but the time now belongs to directors like Nadeem Baig and Nabeel Qureshi. Seems like a dig at Syed Noor who directed his son’s debut movie which blasted at the box office.

Khalil-ur-Rehman, after writing scripts for television and films, has made his directorial debut film Kaaf Kangana. The story is about an Indian girl Eshal and Pakistan boy Ali Mustafa who fell in love with each other. It’s a love story that started in 1947, and comes to the present with a bit of Kashmir. 

Eshal Fayyaz is a ravishing Pakistani model and TV actress. She is an intense model who has worked with all the best form originators of Pakistan. As an actress, she is known for her lead role in dramas like Abro and Hatheli. 

One fine day Eshal got a call from Khalil-ur-Rehman, and was offered a lead role in his debut film. Nida Yasir invited the whole team of Kaaf Kangana on her set where Ayesha Omar and Khalil made fun of Eshal. 

Nida asked Eshal to tell something about Ayesha’s character to which she said that she liked one of Ayesha’s lines and would like to repeat. Ayesha instantly said, ” let’s see who she will say”. 

Khalil and Ayesha laughed at her accent and body language. Eshaal said ”Punjabi accent” with a style on which Ayesha and Khalil laughed and copied her, making her embrace on the live show. 

She had enough of bullying from her co-stars. She cried while talking about her dad, but it’s not like that. She felt bad that her own director and colleagues are making fun of her on a live television show. 

The talented Mehreen Jabbar’s first commercial film is going to release on 25th November 2016. Mehreen is a very hardworking person and her dramas are quite popular among the audience. The way she turns conventional thing into extraordinary piece of work is commendable. Today, 14th August 2017, the team of Na Maloom Afrad 2 stepped up during a movie break in Ocean Mall, Karachi. The people who were spending their independence holiday enjoying some time out lost their control and were over-excited to see the cast. The celebrities comprising of Fahad Mustafa and Hania Amir among other team members also sang the national anthem. The team later went on to Dolmen Mall to do the same.

This Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan and Humaima Malik starrer has been the talk of the town ever since it’s pre-production stages, it is making the headlines again but for all the wrong reasons this time.

Bilal Lashari (director) and the entire cast and crew recently received letter from the original producers of the 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt, Bahoo Film Corporation, accusing them of copyrights violation and warning them to stop working on the project or deal with the consequences in the form of legal action.

In a recent interview director and producer Muhammad Sarwer Bhatti said that the rights to recreate Maula Jatt were never sold.

Bhatti further said that when he first heard Maula Jatt 2 was Lashari’s next project they were supposed to meet to resolve this matter but before that could happen news outlets announced Lashari getting the copyrights. He also said that the veteran writer of Maula Jatt Nasir Adeeb doesn’t own any rights so he can’t sell them, Bhatti claimed being the producer he has the complete ownership of copyrights.

“This is blatant violation of the copyright law. It is my legacy, my pride. I will do everything to punish him.”

We have waited way too long for this project to watch it go down the drain for nothing, I’m going to phoonk some Ayat ul Kursi on Bilal Lashari so he can figure this one out. Fingers crossed till then.

Joyland has become Pakistan’s official representative at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Headlined by filmmaker Saim Sadiq and director Sana Jafri, the film boasts Alina Khan, Sania Saeed, Sarwat Gilani, Ali Junejo and Rasti Farooq in the cast.

The team brought desi glamour to the Cannes red carpet with Sania Saeed wearing a traditional gharara while Sarwat also opted for a fusion green outfit to represent Pakistan. Shaan Shahid is known for not just being an amazing actor that he is but also for his constant struggle to revive Pakistani cinema. Shaan Shahid made us all go gaga over him one more time when he convinced the Oscar-winner Garry Madison to work on his movie Arth-the destination and turn it into a visual delight like Garry’s previous projects that include Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, Dunkirk, The Dark Knight Rises and movies like The Avengers.

When asked of how thrilled Shaan was about working with Garry Madison he said,

“I was enthused for having an Oscar winner on my team. Working with him has made the experience even more enthralling than I had expected.”

The Khuda Kay Liye star further added,

“I am glad that I made this choice and look forward to witnessing the audience’s response to a fresh display of cinematic art.”

In a recent interview Garry said the following,

“The themes usually determine the colouring scheme and effects for a movie. Arth not only revolves around themes that are specific to Pakistan but are also a step ahead from what has already been done and shown in Pakistan’s cinematic history and that was a beautiful task for me to accept and make the movie shine,”

While discussing his previous projects he said,

“I’ve been lucky enough to work on some of Hollywood’s biggest films over the last six years; films such as The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar and The Avengers. Arth 2 also falls into that category of film – even though it’s aimed at a different culture. The themes of this film, in fact, carry across all cultures; the feeling of loss and then finding what you thought you had lost – for me that transcends culture.”

Madison further talked about his work on Arth-2,

“Arth is going to be a new evolution for the Pakistani film industry. I’ve been fortunate to be able to infuse my experiences from Hollywood to enhance what is, without a doubt, a visually stunning film but the main credit for that leap goes to the director Shaan and producer Hammad for bringing to life, a modern view surrounding a journey of today’s Pakistanis.”

When asked of the challenges he had to face while working on Arth-the destination he said,

It was very important to Shaan to make sure that the grade of the film was progressive in terms of other Pakistani films that have released before, but along with that, Shaan also wanted to maintain an authentic feel. So that was basically the chief challenge I was faced with.”

He further added,

“I had to find the balance between the old and the new – and let me tell you, I think we found it.”

Shaan has done his best with Arth 2 to bring Lollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood in one place and we can not wait to see the results.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’s success has all of us anticipating its sequel, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani2, which will make its cinema appearance in 2018. The shooting has being going on for quite some time now, but it’s not all about work for the big numbers of stars that this movie incorporates. The cast has shared pictures of themselves having fun roaming around the streets of Turkey. Kubra Khan was not seen with them in photos, so maybe she will join them later. Saba Qamar, however was very much part of the pictures.

Team Zun Mureed was seen on Jago Pakistan Jago on 2nd of March 2018 for the promotion of their play and to explain everything that this play stands for the play was aired on Hum TV later that night. After the morning show lead actor Omair Rana took to his facebook and talked about how upset he is over the type of treatment this play got from this morning show. He seemed offended by how the true essence of the play was tarnished in order to gain ratings.

Hina Bayat also shared the same views and apologized to the viewers for what they had to witness that morning, she further said that whatever stunt was pulled during the show was absolutely without their consent team Zun Mureed never agreed to any of it.

She further continued,

Our morning shows haven’t offended someone for the first time, the utter cringefest that our morning shows have become needs to be stopped instead of normalizing or even worse trivializing this subject. These shows have a massive viewership which puts an even huge responsibility on the shoulders of creators of these shows, take the high road for heavens sake, for the love of God put content over ratings. Yesterday the lead stars Haroon Shahid and Mahira Khan, in a creative move to promote the film, surprised passengers travelling on PIA flight pk302 enroute to Lahore. ‘Geo Sar Utha K’, an upcoming Pakistani movie is all set to release on 11th August. The movie is an action-drama directed and produced by Nadeem Cheema. It is written by Nasir Mehmood and based on actual events of chottu gang, which is known for kidnapping, murder and other criminal activities. The movie stars Yasir Ilyas, Sheharyar Cheema, Babar Ali, Umar Cheema, Shafqat Cheema, Yasir Khan, Naeem Khan Areeba Khan and more.

Tazeen Hussain is the daughter of legendary Talat Hussain. She has been an actress but later on took a break for her kids and concentrated on her teaching career. She has now made a strong comeback with shows like Jurm, Yunhi, Let’s Try Mohabbat and a film Dagahabaaz Dil. She had recently shared that her father is suffering from dementia now and asked for prayers. Talat Sahab’s fans sent him prayers and blessings and by the grace of Allah SWT, he is feeling better now.

Talking about how our behaviours towards medical conditions have changed, Tazeen shared that as a kid she had seen older people in her family who had dementia but people in those days did not know the name of the condition. They were treated normally and the families would adjust with their condition. Things have changed now as people get more clinical when something like this is diagnosed and we need to bring back some of the cultural behaviours that we had in dealing with such conditions in the past.

She also opened up about the difficulties her mother has to go through after her father’s diagnosis. She is his primary care giver and the whole family adds in the effort but her mother used to be a full time professor and a very independent woman. She said that her father’s doctor advised her to care for her mother too and ask her how she is feeling as well. She is therefore concerned about her mother too now and asks about her alongside her father.

Talat Hussain is a legend of Pakistan. His contributions to the field of art and culture will remain a guiding light for the times and ages to come. He was a great actor and teacher who shared his experiences with the new generation of artists. Talat Hussain recently passed away after prolonged health condition and his fans and friends were devastated. There have been prayers for the departed soul and everyone remembered him as a great asset to the country.

As a month passes by today, Talat Hussain’s daughter, actress Tazeen Hussain shared some loving and beautiful memories with her late father. Tazeen Hussain is an actress and educationist. She is the daughter of legendary Talat Hussain Sahab. Tazeen started working in the industry at a very young age and she has done dramas before she left acting and she was concentrating more on her family. She lost her husband some time ago to a heart attack and she is now actively working in dramas again as she worked as Iqbal in the drama Yunhi.

Tazeen was a guest on Good Morning Pakistan and she talked about her bond with her legendary father. She said that Talat Sahab was always the soft parent and she and her siblings will always go to him if they were scared of their mother. He was very cultured and he transferred his teachings to the children.

Tazeen shared Talat Hussain Sahab’s current medical condition too. She said that he is suffering from dementia due to his age. Later on, he had developed a chest infection and he was hospitalized. Tazeen said that when she appealed for prayers and the fans that prayed for Talat Sahab brought him back. He is doing fine now, though he has some slow days but the prayers did a miracle.

After the budget been passed by the PML-N government yesterday, while half of the country is still shocked to have the worst budget ever, there is  one clause in the budget 2013 that is appreciated by the people affiliated to the entertainment industry of Pakistan. The government has placed an additional tax on the import of all foreign content which was promoted previously within the country, including the airing of Foreign dramas( The Turkish and the Indian) drama  serials and the foreign movies(Hollywood and Bollywood, both).

This is strange that even the salaries of the government employees have not increased and the General Sales Tax (GST) has also increased on the purchase of every product. Taking full advantage of the hype been created by the Local entertainment industry, the government took a move where every channels will have to pay a tax of Rs.100,000 per episode of the foreign drama going on-air. Similarly, the Cinemas are now bound to pay a tax of 1 Million for showing any foreign content in Cinemas, meaning a total loss if the movie doesn’t receives a good response from the audience. Moreover, the cinemas would increase the ticket fee, making the citizens suffer directly or indirectly.

The foreign Dramas, however, did face a lot of criticism where many celebrities considered the airing of Turkish Dramas as a threat to the local talent few months back but despite of long protests and wild talk shows, nothing was seen been practically implemented. With the budget been proposed by this new government, It is expected that foreign dramas will significantly decrease.
