PSL 5 is just round the corner and preparations are in full swing. Following the pre-match hype, like every year the officual PSL anthem was released. Produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, the latest PSL anthem, Tayyar Hain, featured Asim Azhar, Ali Azmat, Haroon and Arif Lohar on vocals; and although this one did turn out to be catchy number, people aren’t really happy with it.

Instantly after the song was released, comparisons to previous PSL anthems were made with a number of people criticizing the latest version for being un-exciting.

And perhaps this pained the singers who invested their time and hard work into producing the song. Asim Azhar who partly sang the song alongside Arif Lohar, Ali Azmat and Haroon, recently took to his Twitter to apologize to fans who had been criticizing the recently released PSL anthem.

“As a crazy cricket fan, I really understand the importance that cricket and PSL hold for my fellow Pakistanis. With that being said, I’m sorry to those fans, whose expectations I couldn’t meet. I know you guys wait long enough for this time of the year. But everyone tried their best, tried to do something different and out of their comfort zone with only good intentions for the love of the country and cricket, And to those who are enjoying it, thank you for the love. And again, I’m sorry to the ones disappointed. Trust me, being a cricket fan, I get it,” wrote Asim on his Twitter.

He added that PSL anthems were not a competition and that all anthems belonged to Pakistanis.

“Sure, you have all the rights to like and dislike but please understand we all do this for the same cause, for the betterment of cricket, PSL and most importantly our Pakistan. All the anthems of PSL are OUR anthems. If you don’t like a certain one unfortunately, you have others to enjoy them as well,” stated the singer cum actor.

Asim ended his apology note stating that people should refrain from making personal remarks or degrading comments just for the sake of a few likes. The Tera Woh Pyar singer however added that he wasn’t talking about the memes because they were fun.

Ever since the film industry has somewhat revived in Pakistan and the television industry grown more than ever, a trend of award shows has emerged in the country. Celebrating talent through awards is a good thing but alongside award shows, what has emerged is a culture of following the Bollywood and western celebrities and wearing gowns and dresses to such events.

The trend has become more common than anything and is followed by the majority of celebrities who grace the red carpet at award shows and different events. Perhaps there will only be a handful of names from the entire industry who choose to appear in traditional clothes and carry them with grace at the red carpet.

Now, we find nothing wrong with gowns or dresses at such events but what we do find objectionable is how our celebrities insist on wearing such clothes without giving a second thought about it suiting their body type and structure. No matter what happens, wearing a gown is a must.

Addressing the same question were actresses Sonya Hussyn and Iffat Omar who are of the opinion that Pakistani celebrities should try and wear their traditional clothes at award shows and other similar events.

Although Sonya herself has been seen in a number of bold and demure gowns at award shows, the actress insisted that she was happy attending events in her traditional clothes but was mostly forced by by stylist to wear such clothes.

Agreeing with Sonya was Iffat Omar who added in that Pakistani girls didn’t have the structure or body type to carry gown or dresses with ease but insisted on wearing such clothes, often ending up wearing a haphazard piece and making a spectacle of themselves.

Model and actress Rabia Butt is a name very well known in the fashion industry of Pakistan. Rabia’s bold and upfront nature has always been commendable and her strong persona is admired by many. However, not many people knew, Rabia’s strong front came about after the sad demise of her mother in an accident.

While talking on Rewind with Samina Peerzada, Rabia shared that she lost her mother in a tragic car accident. She said that she couldn’t get the whole picture of the accident at that time of tragedy but she knows this much, that her mother was the one driving.

Rabia said that her mother had survived even after the accident but her condition was medically critical. Rabia was then left to look after her younger sisters. The model also tweeted about the responsibility two years ago.

Mohsin Abbas Haider and his wife Fatima Sohail came into the limelight when Fatima alleged that she had been physically assaulted and suffered domestic abuse at the hands to Mohsin.

Following Fatima’s accusations a number of celebrities including Dua Sohail and Gohar Rasheed claimed to be eye witnesses of the abuse Mohsin had inflicted upon his wife.

The case was then referred to court and proceedings began. However, not much coverage was given to Mohsin and Fatima’s case once it reached the court.

Now, after everything has been done and dusted with, Mohsin Abbas appeared in a talk show where he opened up about the entire case with Mubasher Lucman.

The gist of the talk was how none of the allegations filed against Mohsin had been proven in the court and that he was ruled innocent on charges filed against him. For the domestic abuse case, which Mohsin claimed was high profile and had investigations done twice because Fatima Sohail’s side wasn’t satisfied, nothing was proven and even Mohsin’s and Fatima’s locations came in differently at the time of the reported incident.

Another thing which Mohsin went on to state was how he had been paying for his son’s needs since day one while Fatima had filed a case against him. “The other day I was videochatting with my son and I asked Fatima if she had the same account so that I could send in money for him. The next day I know I had a case for child support filed against me,” said Mohsin.

The actor cum singer however, stated that he had proven all cheque receipts for the money he had been sending his wife for his son and everything had been proven in front of the courts.

While Fatima has to give a statement countering claims that Mohsin made in Lucman’s talk show. It is indeed something to ponder about whether the entire case was staged and did Mohsin Abbas Haider was a victim of the much hyped #MeToo campaign just as Jhonny Depp who was victimized by wife Amber Heard who sued him for domestic abuse.

Around five months ago, Shaniera Akram took to her social media to share the news of disgusting medical waste that had been dumped at Karachi’s Sea View Beach. She said, “Our beach is a bio-hazard zone and needs to be shut down immediately. I am so sorry to the people including myself who use and love our beach but this is beyond safe.”

She started working on this and joined hands with many to clean this up. Finally, volunteers and Sindh Government collaborated and cleaned up the beach.

The husband of Shaniera Akram, Wasim Akram took to his social media and appreciated the efforts of his wife to clean the beach.

In an interview, Anoushay Abbasi surprised us with her secrets of amazing transformation. She surprised people with her weight loss tips.

She revealed how she has been dealing with her new image. She said, “It’s very difficult, whenever I meet someone they are like ‘oh, you are so slim’. What? who says that? Everyone whoever meets me says ‘you look so fat on TV but in real life, you are very slim’. I say is this possible that someone looks fat on TV and looks slim in real life? No, right.”

“People have seen me in my old projects when I was fat but now I am skinny and they think I was looking fat on-screen. I was fourteen when I started working properly and by the time I was sixteen, I used to just eat because I had a lot of money,” Anoushay continued.

Anoushay Abbasi shared how she got the motivation to lose weight and said, “I did a movie which was Actor In Law and I saw myself on a big screen for the first time ever and I was fat and I didn’t like it. I was having popcorn at that time and I decided that moment that I will go on a diet. Then I started swimming and started losing weight.”

“Whatever picture I post, whatever I write in the caption, they are just like you lost weight and tell me about your weight loss journey. Everyone just wants to know how to lose weight, stop eating and eat right,” she added.

Anoushay’s tips are pretty easy to follow. Sharing her valuable tips she said, “You are not supposed to eat everything and expect your weight to go away. You have to eat the right vegetables, you have to steam your food, do not put a lot of spices in it, do not have a lot of cheese. That’s what I did. When I had to lose weight I cut off all the cheese, fizzy drinks, all the chips. Now, I have lost everything I eat everything.”

The earth will soon be in a water crisis. Perhaps we’ll have to pine and suffer for every drop if we don’t understand the importance of conserving water right away.

Spreading the same awareness for water conservation and its importance, actor, writer and host Yasir Hussain recently joined hands with an NGO and is raising awareness about saving water and launching initiatives in regions like Tharparkar.

Taking to his Instagram, Yasir penned down how people in Tharparkar had been living without water, losing their lives in the process of getting water for their families.

“This woman’s sister was 8 months pregnant and fell down while fetching water from 2kms away and died,” wrote Yasir on his Instagram.

Adding further, the Shaadi Mubarak star added, “We live in the same world as these people. We open taps and forget to turn them off meanwhile these people here pine for a single drop of water. Save water and help.”
