Best OST’s Nowadays

5

Original Song Tune (OST) is an integral part of any show. A unique title song for every show emerged as a trend a few years back, and now a show seems incomplete without its OST. There are countless number of OST’s of shows that I absolutely love, and though the shows have ended, the OST’s will always be cherished. A few shows whose OST’s will always be remembered include names like Dastaan, Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Mastana Mahi, Shehr-e-Zaat and the list goes on.

If I start naming OST’s of all the shows that aired in the past, then it will be a never ending list. So, I am going to stick with the OST’s of current shows that I simply adore and are a pleasure to hear.

Here are the names of a few OSTs:

numm

The OST that tops my list of favorites nowadays is the OST of the show Numm. I have always liked slow and melodious tunes and ‘Mumkin Hai…’ fits perfectly in this criterion. It has the most unique poetry as it lyrics which were penned down by the director Ahsan Talish himself, and the composition is done by Muhammad Agha. It is sung by Faiza Mujahid who gained fame from her song ‘Bandya Ho’ from the movie Khuda Ke Liye.

darmiyaan

The OST that comes 2nd in my list is the OST of the show Darmiyaan airing on ARY Digital. ‘Khalish aur Khushi Ke Darmiyaan…’ is sung by the very famous Nabeel  Shaukat Ali who won the singing reality show Sur-kshetra . The song is brilliantly composed by Sahir Ali Bagga and makes you want to sing along.

mujhe

The 3rd in my list is the OST of the show Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai airing on Hum TV. ‘Jalta Asman Sulagti Zameen Meri…’ has a very emotional touch to it which reaches one’s heart. It is sung by Shariar Tiwana and written by Asad Ali Shah.

kankar

The 4th in my list is ‘Yeh Sheesha Dil Maskan Tera’ from the show Kankar. It is sung by my favorite singer Alycia Dias and written by Fatima Najeeb. The composition is of Waqar Ali, the most oldest and popular composer. He has given countless hit OST’s over the years of shows like Humsafar, Mata-e-Jaan, Talkiyaan and many more.

aasmanon

The 5th in my list is the OST of the upcoming show on Geo, ‘Aasmanon Pe Likha’. The OST got very popular when the promos went on air, and the full version was recently released over the internet because of the high pubic demand for the OST. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful and the composition is superb.  It is truly an OST you will fall in love with!

meri zindagi

The 6th position is taken by the OST of the upcoming show on Geo, Zindagi Hai Tu. It is a very soft and soothing song which will be a treat for the listeners. I liked the song when I heard it in the promos and now when the full version released, I realized that it was better than I first thought. One song I will definitely recommend everyone to listen.

kadurat

On the 7th number comes the OST of Kadurat which is an intense song and Shaibi has done a very good job with the composition. The lyrics are written by Sabir Zafar, and voice is lent by the singer Saima.

kabhi kabhi

Kabhi Kabhi is an upcoming show on ARY and its OST ranks on the 8th position in my list. The OST has a very unique tune and composition and is sung by none other than Alycia Dias. A very beautiful OST in my opinion and a must listen for everyone.

khoya khoya

The 9th on my list is the OST of Khoya Khoya Chand which has a faster ring to it. I personally think it is a song more apt for a movie. It is written and composed by Sohail Haider and sung by Dua Malik and Ahsan Khan.

ranj e aashnai

Ranj-e-Ashnai is the show airing on A-plus and its OST ranks on the 10th number in my list. It is a different OST which a Punjabi touch to it which makes it stand out from the rest. The OST is beautifully sung by Fariha Parvez and Sahir Ali Bagga. Fariha Parvez is another one of my favorite singers and she has a certain talent for singing Punjabi songs. She has previously sung OSTs of Main Guneghar Nahi and Teri Rah Mein Rul Gai Way.

Feel free to add to the list!

Best On-Screen Pakistani Couples Of Recently Aired Dramas

An on-screen couple’s chemistry and their characters add something extra special to a drama. If the viewers are able to relate to the couple which plays the lead in a drama then that drama gets the uplift it needs to stand out. This year like all the other years Pakistani viewers got to see a few on-screen couples who won the hearts of many drama buffs. Their on-screen chemistry and their tracks were appealing.

Best On-Screen Couples Right Now!

0

Every season we see new on screen couples in different shows that make us fall in love with them. The chemistry between the leads is what appeals us the most; the romantic dialogues add further charm to their scenes, and finally the innocent eye locks make all the fans go crazy after their favorite leads.

Here are a few on screen couples of this season that have managed to win the heart of viewers:

photo 1(23)

1)      Qudsiya and Aaliyan:

The chemistry of Qudsiya and Aaliyan was apparent from the promos and the lead pair was declared a hit even before the show went on air. The show might have disappointed us all because of its lack of focus on the main leads, but the scenes that we did get to see between these two were mind blowing. The chemistry has been there from day one and as soon as they appeared in the same frame in a scene, they sizzled and managed to grab the viewers’ attention. There have been only a few scenes that could actually be termed as ‘romantic scenes’ between the two, but what makes this couple stand out is their expressive eyes. The eye locks are enough to make us all go gaga over the leads.

photo 2(19)

2)      Romaisa and Nabeel:

A guy like Nabeel is every girl’s dream; except Romaisa’s who prefers to stay at least a mile away from him. Romaisa is just the kind of girl who can bring a big flirt like Nabeel to the altar. Nabeel is a hopeless romantic while Romaisa is too innocent and naïve to understand Nabeel’s cheesy romantic dialogues. Nabeel who is aware of the realities of the world find Romaisa, who lives in her own dream land, a refreshing change from the cunning and selfish people around him. There is chemistry, along with some pretty cheesy dialogues, and finally the innocent eye locks to make us fall in love with this couple.

3)      Ehtishaam and Sania:

Many of you might be thinking why I chose Sania instead of Sehrish opposite Ehtishaam. The answer to this question is that I have always wanted to see Sanam Saeed playing Adeel Hussain’s love interest. They have appeared together in serials like Daam, Mera Naseeb, and Mata-e-Jaan before, but they never got a chance to be paired opposite each other. So I was pretty surprised and happy when Sania and Ehtishaam ended up together in Shukk. Their chemistry has been superb in the show since the beginning; I simply loved watching their love-hate relationship. Their relationship went through different phases: from coldness and enmity, to irritation and rudeness, and finally friendship and love, all these emotions were portrayed beautifully by both the actors.

photo 4(14)

4)      Ayeza and Sheheryar:

Many of you might feel that this couple is ill-suited because of the age difference but frankly, I simply love their chemistry in the show Ishq Mein Tere. Why? Those of you who had seen all their Turkey scenes together would know why. Their heart to heart conversations and their compatibility despite the big age difference is what appealed to me the most. There has been more or less no romantic scene between the two, no cheesy dialogues and no eye locks, but what I like most about this couple is their understanding and trust in each other.

photo 3(14)

5)      Eshaal and Araiz:

Eshaal and Araiz from Kabhi Kabhi is another couple who has amazing chemistry. Ahsan Khan and Mehwish Hayat always manage to sizzle on screen whenever they come together as a couple in any show. The story of the show is dragging since the past few episodes, and the only episodes that I enjoyed watching were the ones in the beginning when Araiz and Eshaal fell in love and got married. They might not be together anymore in the show, but there are still chances that they might end up together.

photo 4(15)

6)      Afzal and Farah:

Afzal and Farah are the leads of the show Pyarey Afzal, and they simply cannot be more different from each other. Afzal has this innocence in him that makes you fall in love with his character while Farah is arrogant, rude and pretty out spoken. Afzal’s innocent crush on Farah is extremely adorable and the main reason why he had agreed to help her in the first place. Farah does not have any high opinion of Afzal, and it will be interesting to see how her opinion changes about him once she reads his letters. Can the haughty Farah fall in love with an innocent Afzal?

photo 1(22)

7)      Asad and Iraj:

This couple from the show Meri Beti is one of the most adorable couple right now. All their scenes before marriage and at the beginning of their marriage always managed to bring a huge grin to my face. It is always a treat to watch the young love birds together. I hope they get back together in the show soon.

Best On-Screen Couples of Pakistani Dramas In 2018

Best On-Screen couples of Pakistani dramas in 2018 are all those on-screen couples which totally won the viewers over. Many factors contribute to making an on-screen couple a complete success. The number one factor has to be the actors and the chemistry they share. No matter how well-written a track is, it falls flat if the actors involved do not look like they are connected to each other at some level. On-screen chemistry is undeniably the most important factor. Some actors naturally share great on-screen chemistry and when such actors share screen space, there are bound to be fireworks. Having said that, one cannot deny the importance of a well-written script. Black and white characters and run-of-the-mill love stories do not have the same impact on the viewers now because the drama watching audience has so much to choose from. Therefore, love stories which are convincing as well as enticing and characters which are intriguing play a major role in making these on-screen couples a hit.

Here is a list of the best on-screen couples of Pakistani Dramas in the year 2018. The list is short because there were very few on-screen couples which  truly managed to win the viewers over.

Arsal and Jiya (Suno Chanda)

Arsal and Jiya’s love story was a romantic comedy which kept the viewers looking forward to more every week. Their love-hate relationship, their fun and engaging characters and Farhan Saeed and Iqra Aziz‘s on-screen chemistry made their on-screen couple a massive success. Arsal and Jiya were cousins who were forced into a nikkah and most of their track covered how they tried to break free from this forced connection. Their very filmy and sweet love story was liked so much that viewers want to see them together on-screen again. The overall feel of this play and the way their characters were written definitely added to the charm. The fact that these two lived under the same roof and were always interacting with each other made their scenes a treat to watch. The viewers did not have to wait for them to be together since they were always with each other even when they couldn’t bear to see each others faces.Their nok jhok continued right till the end which was the best part of their track.

Best On-Screen Couples of Pakistani Dramas In 2018

Samra and Sarang (Pukaar)

Yumna Zaidi and Zahid Ahmed as friends are at a great comfort level with each other and that is why every time they come together, they perform brilliantly and share an amazing on-screen chemistry. The first time they were seen in Zara Yaad Kar and this year in Pukaar. Even though they did not have a lot of scenes together but those few scenes where Samra and Sarang had conversations used to be the highlight of the episode. It is because of their chemistry that everyone was rooting for their characters ever since Pukaar began. The last episode of Pukaar was a treat where Samra and Sarang confessed love for each other, Yumna Zaidi and Zahid Ahmed made it cute and very romantic.

Best On-Screen Couples of Pakistani Dramas In 2018

Aairah and Junaid  (Khudgarz)

People fell in love with Aairah and Junaid not only because their characters were written and performed beautifully but also because both Amina Sheikh and Syed Jibran gave their characters such a beautiful treatment that all those moments that they shared seemed even more special and heartfelt. Every time Junaid and Aairah came together, there was this vibe about them which made them look perfect together and the credit goes to Amina Sheikh and Syed Jibran for elaborating it beautifully that two people who had nothing to do with each other became fell so much in love that they could not live without one another.

Best On-Screen Couples of Pakistani Dramas In 2018

Abeer and Raheel (Khudgarz)

Again, Abeer and Raheel were a result of an intelligent writing but to see Mansha Pasha and Salman Saeed together in one frame turned out to be a treat for the viewers of Khudgarz. Their scenes were cute and casual which were acted brilliantly by Mansha Pasha and Salman Saeed. Their relationship was being rooted for because of the situation that Abeer was faced with and the way Raheel not only loved her but chose to treat her with respect. All of those conversations that they had before and after marriage brought a smile to our face because there was so much truth and reality in it. They both looked amazing together and we wish we get to see them sharing screen again.

Best On-Screen Couples of Pakistani Dramas In 2018

Naina and Zaid (Woh Mera Dil Tha)

Naina and Zaid were two of the most meaningful and beautifully etched-out characters this year. The way their paths met and the manner in which their character development was covered was number one reason why this on-screen couple is simply unforgettable. Sami Khan and Madiha Imam‘s undeniable on-screen chemistry and the way they translated these characters on-screen made their scenes the only reason why most viewers tuned into the show. Although this drama had other side tracks too but it was Zaid and Naina’s love story that made the viewers tune into it every week. Even with all the ups and down these two faced the viewers rooted for them right till the end. Zaid and Naina’s love story was simply beautiful and extremely poignant. Sami Khan and Madiha Imam always create magic whenever they appear on screen together but this love story was quite different from everything else they have done so far.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

On-screen chemistry can do wonders for actors especially when it is backed by solid characterizations. This on-screen chemistry can sometimes even make the most average scripts work and when the script itself is outstanding then the combination gives the viewers on-screen couples which they don’t forget for a really long time. There are some experienced actors who naturally share chemistry with every co-star but there were some newcomers who literally stole the hearts of the viewers this year because these couples had meant for each other written all over them even though their circumstances weren’t always ideal. Some of the on-screen couples in this list didn’t share screen space for the first time and others were completely brand new but definitely a match made in heaven! These on-screen couples made the viewers connect to them instantly and made their relationships come alive on screen.

Here is a list of the best on-screen couples of dramas which aired in 2017.

Zubiya and Asfand Yar (Yakeen Ka Safar)

Zubiya and Asfandyar were two strong individuals who had dealt with their fair share of miseries of life, but when their paths finally met, they found a special kind of solace and companionship. Asfand despite keeping the doors of his heart closed couldn’t resist the charm of Zubiya’s positive personality and Zubiya also saw that Asfand could be the one for her. Their chemistry was beyond brilliant and the fact that these characters did not share a regular relationship with too many conversations made it even more special. They understood each other’s feelings without relying on words because they were soulmates, meant to be together! These two had made for each other written all over them and their journey was shown in such a way that the viewers couldn’t help but root for them. Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir looked perfect together!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Arman and Pareesa (Muqabil)

Arman and Pareesa’s characters and their relationship was one of a kind. Arman was the son of the man who abused Pareesa when she was a child and Pareesa decided to marry him because she thought that it was the best way to avenge the person who abused her. The circumstances under which these two characters met and got married were anything but ideal. Their journey was difficult and their relationship challenging but it didn’t take Pareesa too long to fall in love with Arman. Arman helped Pareesa heal and in the process got hurt too. Ultimately, their story had a beautiful ending. Mohsin Abbas Haider and Kubra Khan’s spellbinding performances coupled with the potent on-screen chemistry these two actors shared made their scenes a treat to watch. Even when the pace of the drama slowed down these two were the only reason why the viewers tuned into Muqabil for weeks.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Hayat and Zaki (Yeh Raha Dil)

Hayat and Zaki hated each other when they met but despite being committed Zaki couldn’t stop falling in love with Hayat because he realized that she was compatible and a perfect match. Hayat completed Zaki and balanced him out because they both were poles apart. Hayat was sorted and focused, Zaki was lost and clueless and that is what made their relationship interesting. It was a downer that they both, together didn’t get much coverage in the drama because the viewers wanted to see more of them as they were in love with their couple. Yumna Zaidi and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s chemistry was beautiful!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Maheen and Waqar (Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei)

The sole reason why this couple made it to this list is the magical on-screen chemistry between Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan. Maheen and Waqar had hardly any interactions in the drama, most of their thoughts for each other were conveyed through conversations with other people but every time these two actors came face to face the electrifying chemistry between them won the viewers over completely. Even though Waqar and Maheen’s actual love story (the declaration of love and everything that followed) was covered in a few episodes but the viewers couldn’t help but connect to their story and feel their pain. Maheen and Waqar’s beautiful and tragic love story will stay in the minds of the viewers for a really long time!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Gulrez and Maheen (Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei)

Gulrez and Maheen’s track for the most part was a case of one-sided love story. Gulrez loved Maheen unconditionally but Maheen didn’t even feel attracted towards him. This situation resulted in a love triangle like no other and ultimately Gulrez and Maheen ended up together but in the most unusual circumstances. Gulrez’s love for Maheen and the relationship these two shared after they got married was the highlight of the drama. Even though their scenes together weren’t covered in detail but every time these two came face to face their interactions were powerful as well as poignant. Gulrez and Maheen’s relationship was one-of-a-kind and therefore really special. Shehzad sheikh and Ayeza Khan’s outstanding performances especially in the last few episodes and their on-screen chemistry made their on-screen couple one which the viewers won’t forget for a really long time.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Hammad and Sara (Khuda Aur Mohabbat)

Even though Hammad met Sara after losing Imaan but their chemistry was undeniable right from the beginning. Even though Sara wasn’t fond of Hammad in the beginning, the fact that she got to realize the purpose of her life after learning about the struggles of Hammad made their relationship unique. Hammad was too engulfed in his sorrow of losing Imaan that he couldn’t find a place in his heart or life for Sara, but the fact that Sara promised to follow the footsteps of Hammad when it came to leading her life showed how much she loved him. They both didn’t get to be together, but the viewers definitely rooted for them both as they made a perfect couple.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Hammad and Imaan (Khuda Aur Mohabbat)

This couple was a depiction of true love and their feelings for each other were pure. For a guy like Hammad to fall for a girl like Imaan who belonged to a completely different realm was magical because after that Hammad’s journey of love as well as self-realization began. Even though Hammad and Imaan didn’t have many interactions, the few that they had left a huge impact and made the viewers fall in love with their couple. Imran Abbas and Saadia Khan’s chemistry was phenomenal and so strong that they actually struck a chord every time they were seen together in one frame!

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Gaiti and Daniyal (Yakeen Ka Safar)

This couple was an embodiment of mutual respect that a husband and wife should have towards each other. Gaiti’s love for Daniyal was strong yet selfless because even though their relationship lasted for a very short span of time, Gaiti stood by Daniyal even before she got married to him because she understood him & respected his choices. No wonder why all the viewers shed tears when they saw Gaiti mourning the death of Daniyal.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Gaiti and Haroon (Yakeen Ka Safar)

The fact that Hira and Mani are a real life couple made their on-screen couple a bit more special. The characters of Gaiti and Haroon convinced everyone to feel and root for them because of the hardships that life threw their way. To know that they both ended up together and made each other happy left the viewers feeling contented too. It was good to see Hira and Mani in a different setting playing such likeable characters, something that they have never done before.

Best On-Screen Couples Of 2017

Sassi and Qasim (O Rangreza)

Even though their love story ended before even beginning and the character of Sassi has taken a very different turn but the way Qasim’s love for Sassi was portrayed in the initial episodes made their couple seem very special. Qasim is the only one who understands Sassi like no other and Sassi is comfortable in front of him because she has spent her life with him. Sassi didn’t know how much Qasim loved her & she got to know about his feelings on the day they both were supposed to get married but since Qasim knew what Sassi wanted he backed out in order to set her free, proving how selfless yet strong his love was. Even though the chances are slim we’re definitely rooting for them and looking forward to their magical love-story because they both look absolutely cute together!

Best On-Screen Couples Of Pakistani Dramas

In this video we will talk about all those amazing on-screen couples of Pakistani dramas which have won the viewers over since the 90s. Do share your opinion about these couples and add more names to the list.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

The best on-screen couples are those that might not always have the ideal track but they make you root for them nevertheless. These are those characters that keep you involved and looking forward to more. Their stories are realistic which makes it easier for the viewers to relate to them. Sometimes on-screen chemistry can do wonders and make even the most clichéd love stories desirable.

Thankfully, in some of the recent Pakistani dramas, we got to watch love stories that were unconventional and appealing. It is also really important that these love stories stay engaging right till the end. Sometimes certain on-screen couples win the viewers over in the first few weeks but they fail to keep the interest of the viewers alive right till the end. There are also those on-screen couples that gradually grow on the viewers and within a few weeks, the viewers find themselves looking forward to their scenes.

Out of all the dramas I watched recently, the following on-screen couples appealed to me more than others.

Danish and Mehwish (Mere Pass Tum Ho)

Some people might find it strange that Danish and Mehwish who had the most unsettling and tragic story are in this list but in my opinion, this list would be incomplete without them. If it wasn’t for Danish and Mehwish, Mere Pass Tum Ho wouldn’t have been such a huge hit.

It was Danish’s love for Mehwish that made the viewers fall in love with his character and it was Mehwish’s betrayal that made the viewers hate her character. Ayeza Khan and Humayun Saeed played their respective roles faultlessly. They made the viewers feel everything their characters went through right till the end.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

The relationship these two characters shared and their respective personalities were outlined well right from the start. Mehwish’s unfaithfulness and Danish’s undying love for her was the main theme of the story which kept the viewers coming back for more. These central characters made Mere Pass Tum Ho what it was and all the other characters were simply passing through their lives.

Although Mere Pass Tum Ho’s end and Danish’s death was the worst thing we saw on television this year but overall Danish and Mehwish together definitely gave the viewers an unforgettable few weeks of emotional drama.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Saad and Dua (Ehd-e-Wafa)

Ehd-e-Wafa will always be remembered for all the right reasons. Saad and Dua’s romantic track was one of the most emotional and inspiring elements of the drama. Like all the other love stories in Ehd-e-Wafa, this on-screen couple also shared a bond that was unconventional.

Unlike most youngsters who are shown in Pakistani dramas, Saad and Dua motivated each other to succeed in life. In the beginning, Saad and Dua seemed to be an odd couple but as the story progressed the viewers were completely invested in their story.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Their romantic track was emotional and not cheesy. It was also progressive in so many ways. Ahad Raza Mir and Alizeh Shah performed their roles well. Even though the viewers missed watching them together in the last episode, their track throughout was a breath of fresh air.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Shariq and Ramsha (Ehd-e-Wafa)

This was another highly unusual yet likable on-screen couple that wasn’t even shown to be romantically involved right till the end. We rarely see such on-screen couples who are compatible, supportive and friends more than anything else.

Wahaj Ali and Hajra Yamin shared definite and sparkling on-screen chemistry which made their scenes a treat to watch. This was another modern yet classy on-screen couple that redefined the relationship between opposite genders.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Saad and Dua had few romantic moments but Shariq and Ramsha had none yet it was pretty evident that they were meant to be together. The individual performances of both the actors involved definitely added to the charm.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Shahzain and Rani (Ehd-e-Wafa)

This on-screen couple from Ehd-e-Wafa was completely different from the rest of the couples in the drama and these two got more screen time as well. Zara Noor Abbas was fun as Rani and as the story progressed she proved she was the perfect match for Shahzain.

Shahzain’s scenes with Rani also showed his vulnerable side, an aspect which he hid from everyone else around him. Osman Khalid Butt and Zara Noor Abbas looked great together on-screen. It is always good to see such a fresh pairing on our television screens.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

The best thing about this on-screen couple was that they stayed fun and comic right till the end even after everything that happened between them. It was certainly enjoyable watching these two.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Abdullah and Mahjabeen (Pyar Ke Sadqay)

Abdullah and Mahjabeen right now are my favorites! I think that this on-screen couple has so much going for them and they have a lot of potential. The way these two got married and the manner in which they have supported each other unknowingly ever since makes them the most adorable couple we have seen on our television screens lately. This on-screen couple gives the term ‘match made in heaven’ a whole new meaning.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Abdullah and Mahjabeen’s story has just started but already I find myself looking forward to their scenes. The way their marriage took place was also shown in a convincing manner. Both these characters have so much to offer therefore together they are truly a fantastic match. Yumna Zaidi and Bilal Abbas Khan’s mind-blowing performances never cease to impress.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Amaan and Ana (Yeh Dil Mera)

Amaan and Ana don’t have the ideal relationship even now after all these weeks. There are also times when Ana’s tolerance for Amaan can be annoying but we are all rooting for them anyway! The fact that Amaan is not an evil person but is merely a broken adult trying to take revenge from the person who took his loved ones away makes him someone who definitely deserves loving. Ana derives her strength from Amaan even though he is not always supportive.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Most of the viewers are waiting for the time when Amaan will finally be healed, Ana will know the truth and they can have their happy ending. These two characters have a painful past and a story that is novel. Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir’s on-screen chemistry and their performances have been on point throughout. Apart from that even with all the other important characters Amaan and Ana’s track continues to be the main attraction.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Hamza and Warda (Ruswai)

I have been following Ruswai and I lost interest in it after Sameera’s father passed away. The only track that makes sense at the moment and which makes me tune into the show is that of Hamza and Warda. I find Sameera’s track repetitive and annoying but I still find myself rooting for Hamza and Warda. Hamza was always shown as an over-protective brother, therefore, his unreasonable behavior makes perfect sense. Warda is being victimized for no reason and the way she pleaded in front of Hamza’s family in the previous episode was heart-wrenching.

Best On-Screen Couples From Recent Pakistani Dramas

Hamza and Warda could have been good together had it not been for all the family politics and emotional decisions. I am hoping they will have a happy ending and that is the only reason I will be watching Ruswai’s last episode! Osama Tahir and Minna Tariq’s have given solid performances even though they don’t fit into the typical hero/heroine stereotype.

If it wasn’t for Danish and Mehwish, Mere Pass Tum Ho wouldn’t have been such a huge hit.

This was the kind of love story which showed the other side of the picture. The viewers for a change got to watch what a man goes through when he is betrayed. Although Mere Pass Tum Ho’s end and Danish’s death was the worst thing we saw on television this year but overall Danish and Mehwish together definitely gave the viewers an unforgettable few weeks of emotional drama.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Momina and Qalb e Momin (Alif)

Although the relationship that Momin and Momina had didn’t really develop until the second half of the drama, but right from the beginning, the viewers found themselves rooting for them. They both chose a different path for themselves but this is what made their love story eternal and beautiful. Momin and Momina resented each other but upon giving each other a second chance, they understood what true love was. Although their love story was not elaborated much in the drama, the few scenes they shared were simply beautiful because it showed how Momina was helping Momin steer through the course of his life and how she had such a major impact on his life.

Sajal Aly and Hamza Ali Abbasi’s chemistry was simply effortless. They both seemed very comfortable with each other and the beauty with which they portrayed the characters of Momin and Momina also added a lot more charm to their love story. They both just looked perfect together and each of their scenes very nothing short of a treat to watch.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Sameer and Gohar (Ishq Zahe Naseeb)

Zahid Ahmed and Sonya Hussyn are two powerful actors and this is why they find it very easy to act out any emotion that the characters assigned to them feel. The fact that the character of Sameer was so unconventional and unique and to make the viewers see how loving a person like Sameer was possible was no easy feat that both Zahid and Sonya succeeded in portraying. It was because of both Zahid Ahmed and Sonya Hussyn that the viewers actually started rooting for Sameer and Gohar and felt that despite having feelings for Kashif before the marriage, Gohar should not give him a chance.

It was unfortunate that the love story of Gohar and Sameer did not get a lot of coverage but the few scenes they shared and some that suggested Gohar’s budding feelings for Sameer were quite special. Zahid and Sonya definitely know how to pull the attention towards them and they both make a gorgeous on-screen couple.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Saad and Dua (Ehd-e-Wafa)

Ehd-e-Wafa will always be remembered for all the right reasons. Saad and Dua’s romantic track was one of the most emotional and inspiring elements of the drama. Like all the other love stories in Ehd-e-Wafa, this on-screen couple also shared a bond that was unconventional. Unlike most youngsters who are shown in Pakistani dramas this year, Saad and Dua motivated each other to succeed in life. In the beginning, Saad and Dua seemed to be an odd couple but as the story progressed the viewers were completely invested in their story.

Their romantic track was emotional and not cheesy. It was also progressive in so many ways. Ahad Raza Mir and Alizeh Shah performed their roles well. Even though the viewers missed watching them together in the last episode, their track throughout was a breath of fresh air.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Shariq and Ramsha (Ehd-e-Wafa)

This was another highly unusual yet likable on-screen couple that wasn’t even shown to be romantically involved right till the end. We rarely see such on-screen couples who are compatible, supportive, and friends more than anything else. Wahaj Ali and Hajra Yamin shared definite and sparkling on-screen chemistry which made their scenes a treat to watch. This was another modern yet classy on-screen couple that redefined the relationship between opposite genders.

Saad and Dua had few romantic moments but Shariq and Ramsha had none yet it was pretty evident that they were meant to be together. The individual performances of both the actors involved definitely added to the charm.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Shahzain and Rani (Ehd-e-Wafa)

This on-screen couple from Ehd-e-Wafa was completely different from the rest of the couples in the drama and these two got more screen time as well. Zara Noor Abbas was fun as Rani and as the story progressed she proved that she was the perfect match for Shahzain. Shahzain’s scenes with Rani also showed his vulnerable side, an aspect which he hid from everyone else around him. Osman Khalid Butt and Zara Noor Abbas looked great together on-screen. It is always good to see such a fresh pairing on our television screens.

The best thing about this on-screen couple was that they stayed fun and comic right till the end even after everything that happened between them. It was certainly enjoyable watching these two.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Seher and Zamin (Thora Sa Haq)

It won’t be wrong to say that Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas’s pairing made Thora Sa Haq one of the most-watched and popular dramas of this year. The story of Thora Sa Haq was quite typical but because of the gorgeous duo of Ayeza and Imran, viewers watched it with keenness. Zamin and Seher had to tie the knot in unfavorable circumstances but slowly and steadily, they developed feelings for each other. Their relationship went through a lot of ups and downs but in the end, their love made everyone give up on the thought of drifting them apart.

It is given that if it wasn’t for Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan, Thora Sa Haq wouldn’t have gotten this much attention because of the weak storyline with a typical love-triangle scenario that it had. It was definitely the beautiful on-screen couple of Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan that people liked watching this drama.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Amaan and Ana (Ye Dil Mera)

Ye Dil Mera was nothing short of a treat for Sajal and Ahad fans. They both are big names of the Pakistani industry and have a huge fan following, this is the reason even before it went on-air Ye Dil Mera was one of the most hyped-up dramas of this year. Ahad and Sajal as usual performed brilliantly and although the nature of the relationship shared by Amaan and Ana was toxic and they did not have a happy ending which left the viewers heart-broken, they both gave the viewers enough reason to love their chemistry in Ye Dil Mera.

In the first half of the drama, especially before Ana and Amaan’s marriage, the scenes shared by both of them were quite cute. At the back of mind, viewers knew that they were a real-life couple too which added that sweet edge while watching Ye Dil Mera. Sajal and Ahad not only make a beautiful real-life couple but they were beautiful together on screen too.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Abdullah and Mahjabeen (Pyar Ke Sadqay)

Abdullah and Mahjabeen were the most adorable! This particular on-screen couple has so much going for them and they had a lot of potential right from the beginning. The way these two got married and the manner in which they supported each other unknowingly made them the most loved on-screen couple we saw on our television screens this year. This on-screen couple gave the term ‘match made in heaven’ a whole new meaning. Yumna Zaidi and Bilal Abbas Khan’s mind-blowing performances definitely added to the beauty of this track.

There was a time when most of us felt like Abdullah did not deserve Mahjabeen but we all knew that Mahjabeen could never be happy without Abdullah. Therefore in the end when both of them managed to take a stand for themselves, they made the viewers fall in love with them once again and proved they were in fact the perfect team!

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Hamza and Warda (Ruswai)

Hamza and Warda turned out to be the most appealing aspect of Ruswai especially at a time when many viewers lost interest in the main track. Their track was emotional and heart-warming right till the end. Like many other viewers, we found ourselves completely involved in this track and rooting for Hamza and Warda. Hamza was always shown as an over-protective brother, therefore, his unreasonable behavior made perfect sense. Warda was being victimized for no reason and the way she pleaded in front of Hamza’s family in the last few episodes was heart-wrenching.

Hamza and Warda’s meaningful track showed how good they could have been good together had it not been for all the family politics and emotional decisions. In the end, however, they had the perfect ending, they rightly deserved. Osama Tahir and Minna Tariq’s gave solid performances even though they don’t fit into the typical hero/heroine stereotype.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Hassan and Anaya (Sabaat)

The fact that the relationship of Hassan and Anaya started off on an unusual and unconventional note made the viewers develop a different sort of connection with them and as their story progressed, they became the favorites of those who watched Sabaat. The fact that both Hassan and Anaya grabbed the limelight despite not being the central characters of the story says a lot about how special their couple was for the viewers.

Although their relationship also saw turbulent times but for the most part, it was nice to see a husband and wife being supportive of each other’s passions and dreams. They both not only understood but respected each other’s outlook on life and believed in bringing a change in the lives of people. Ameer Gillani and Mawra Hocane’s performances definitely worked in the favor of Hassan and Anaya and made them one of the favorite on-screen couples of the viewers this year.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Kashf and Wajdan (Kashf)

This list definitely would be incomplete without the mention of Hira Mani and Junaid Khan’s on-screen couple. There is no denying the fact that Hira and Junaid have amazing chemistry and because they both share such a good friendship and strong bond off-screen, they find it easy to act together and make their couple’s presence felt in each scene. The ending that the couple of Kashf and Wajdan met was definitely tragic but the moments they both shared together were beautiful.

Also, the fact that Wajdan couldn’t really keep up with life and Kashf ended up losing hers went to show how special they both were for each other that the fact that they won’t get to be together because of unfortunate divorce made them literally lose any ounce of hope they had for their future. Hira and Junaid definitely make one of the best on-screen couples in Pakistani dramas and this is the reason, their pairing is liked by the viewers a lot.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Hamza and Joya (Prem Gali)

This definitely is a fresh pair that the viewers got to witness for the first time in Prem Gali this year but it can not be denied that both Farhan and Sohai have made Hamza and Joya look absolutely adorable. It is kind of annoying that the viewers haven’t been able to witness special moments shared by Hamza and Joya as a newly wedded couple but a few scenes in every episode where they both are together definitely are the saving grace of each episode. Sohai and Farhan have been effortless and natural in their approach towards their characters, this is why they have made their couple and the chemistry between them look quite real.

Best On-Screen Couples From 2020 Pakistani Dramas

Adam and Guddi (Mushk)

Adam and Guddi are poles apart as individuals which makes their track even more interesting. Their respective backstories and the way their characters have been written makes their on-screen couple even more interesting. It is always good watching a love story that is meaningful since these two did not fall in love instantly. The old school romance between this couple is something we rarely get to watch in dramas.

Imran Ashraf and Urwa Hocane’s remarkable performances, their sizzling on-screen chemistry make the viewers look forward to their scenes. Since both of them truly deserve to be loved, the viewers are looking forward to watching their happy ending.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Characterizations in dramas can make all the difference. Apart from the storyline, different shades of the characters in a drama attract the attention of the viewers. Even a negative character can stand out and leave a mark if it is etched-out well. Similarly, a well-etched-out supporting character can sometimes have more of an impact than a leading character. In order for a character to stand out, it should be layered and logical.

The best dramas are obviously those in which the leading and the supporting characters hold the interest of the viewers and keep them intrigued. Also, the journey of these characters plays a crucial role in making them more appealing. Every year, Pakistani drama writers give us so many unforgettable characters that leave a lasting impression.

Danish – Mere Pass Tum Ho

Mere Pass Tum Ho had some of the most unusual characters and out of all these characters; it was Danish who gave the viewers a few of the most memorable moments of this drama. Through this character, the writer in the aptest manner possible showed how heartbreak affects a person who trusted someone with their eyes closed. Danish’s world revolved around his wife Mehwish, when she betrayed and left him, he did whatever he could to get over her and eventually ended up being a really strong individual. Although Danish had more courage to face the world and take risks after Mehwish left, he never fell out of love. We saw many negative and conniving men in Pakistani dramas in 2020 but this one will stay fresh in our memories forever because of the havoc he played in everyone’s life. He was a true representation of men with absolutely no moral compass who never feel guilty for ruining someone’s life.

However, as his character became mature, he turned out to be a really sensible young man with a good heart. The most appealing aspect of Saad’s personality was that pleasing his father was on top of his priority list. Letting his father down was the lowest point in his life and making him proud was the best one. Qalb e Momin – Alif

Qalb e Momin was a beautiful character written by Umera Ahmed. He was a perfect representation of all those believers who face struggles on a daily basis to stay on track and explore their spirituality. Qalb e Momin was a disturbed child because he saw his parents failing miserably, but because of his grandfather, he slowly and steadily found his path and realized that his life had a bigger purpose. Husn e Jahan’s character is such that it will make you cry and feel for her because of the way she was mistreated and misunderstood by all those who mattered to her the most. Kubra Khan’s unparalleled performance etched this character in the hearts of the viewers.

Ramsha was unapologetically herself, she was strong and independent. She had made up her mind of dedicating her life to taking care of her family, she too had emotions and found herself developing feelings for Hatim. Mahjabeen will definitely be remembered for a really long time!

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Washma – Pyar Ke Sadqay

Washma from Pyar Ke Sadqay was just as likable as Mahjabeen but for entirely different reasons. She was a wise and resilient young woman who made all the right choices even when the odds were completely against her. Even though she never had the support of her mother, Washma learned to take a stand for herself, and later on, she was Mahjabeen’s biggest support. Washma’s powerful personality was the highlight of every episode she was a part of. Washma was a strong, positive, and intelligent young lady who was wise beyond her years. Her life experiences did not make her bitter but on the contrary, they helped her deal with people in her life according to a given situation. The viewers looked forward to her scenes and she never disappointed them.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Sarwar – Pyar Ke Sadqay

Sarwar is one of the few characters in the list who was negative, he was hated by everyone who watched the drama for obvious reasons. Even with all his negativity, this character played a crucial role in the story and it was written convincingly throughout. The story of drama serial Kashf revolved around the life of Kashf, who was the pious soul surrounded by selfish people who made her put up with their unreasonable and irrational demands only because they were her family. In this drama, Kashf’s character stood out for her honesty, her niceness, and her selflessness. The journey of Kashf was never easy but the end that she got showed how this world is just a chance given to each one of us to make our transition to the next world as beautiful as possible. This life of Kashf was full of challenges but her ending put everything to rest because her life in the next world was going to be as smooth as depicted by her death in this life. Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Shanzay – Ghalati

In the drama serial Ghalati, Shanzay’s character definitely stood out because it is a rarity to see such young girls in Pakistani dramas who are so sorted and rightfully opinionated. Shanzay’s character was never given a lot of coverage but her morals and ethics were enough to leave an impact. It was all because she was raised with such strong values that nothing deterred her from stating the truth, not even her husband’s mother or sisters who wanted Shanzay to suffer like Zaira as well. Shanzay was straight-forward and more so, honest because of which she succeeded in making her own decisions and always took a stand against the wrongdoings of people around her. Her character was a breath of fresh air in a drama which showed a girl like Zaira getting oppressed to the limit.

Despite being someone who suffered from low self-esteem and saw herself as unworthy, she succeeded in being a provider for her entire family for years. Nagina put everyone above her and completely forgot about herself because she knew that she was the only one who could bear the responsibility and the burdens of her family. Nagina never complained, however when things got too overwhelming for her, she always channeled out her frustrations by going around taunting and teasing her frenemies, as well as flaunting her successes and blessings in front of them. It showed her lighthearted approach towards life when things got tougher and also showed that she didn’t mind being a child at heart sometimes.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Shamsa – Thora Sa Haq

Although drama serial Thora Sa Haq was all about unreasonable and irrational characters, surprisingly there was one such character who made it to this list and was Shamsa; Seher’s hometown neighbor. What’s best about her character was that she stood for the right and despite facing objection from her own husband and daughter, she stayed firm on her decision of supporting Seher. One of her reasons for being nice to an orphan like Seher was heart-warming that because she wanted good to come her daughter’s way, she was doing the favor to someone else’s daughter. Usually, in such a setting, it is hard to find such characters who can differentiate between right and wrong and go to any lengths to do right by someone, this definitely made her one of the best characters seen this year.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Farwa – Nand

Drama serial Nand had some of the most typical characters but it also had one of the most progressive female characters. Farwa was an educated, level-headed, sensitive, and sensible young lady who made the right choices throughout. She was the only one who had the courage to speak her mind in a house surrounded by people who were constantly under Goher’s pressure. She was definitely the kind of woman who did not need a man to save her but she believed in loving and respecting the man she loved. She was also one of those few females in Pakistani dramas who decided to move away from a toxic relationship.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Aleem – Nand

Aleem was a supporting character in drama serial Nand, but he was one of those male characters in dramas this year who set a really good example for the most part. It was good to see a brother who stood by his sister’s side and had a really gentle side to his personality. The scenes in which he had to needlessly beg for forgiveness because Rabi wanted to go back to her house, were a few of those scenes that will never be forgotten.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Shireen – Prem Gali

Saba Hameed is known for playing substantial characters. Although she mostly plays the roles of mother and mother in law, in every single role, she makes sure she brings in a lot of variety and range. It is interesting to note that despite working for so many years, Saba Hameed is one of those actresses who does not settle for monotony and always makes sure she adds something unique to her characters. This is the reason, the character of Shireen happens to be the most dynamic, unique, and probably the best character of Prem Gali.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Adam – Mushk

Adam is one of the few male characters in this list who has a really positive side to his personality. A sweet, sensitive individual with a spiritual side, Adam keeps the viewers looking forward to more. Adam’s one-sided love for Mehak and his attempts to make her happy show, that when it comes to love, he is completely selfless. He has his own ideas and ideals about love which are quite interesting. Although Adam is madly in love and has been shown going out of his way to please Mehak, he is not a fool otherwise. He is an intelligent young man and someone who would find a way out of any difficult situation at all.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Guddi – Mushk

There are few layered characters with a strong negative side which hold the interest of the viewers the way Guddi does. She is not one of those done-to-death negative characters since she does not have personal vendettas and grudges. It is also good to see a female character that is likable even though it is flawed. Guddi’s witty dialogues and observations have made the viewers laugh along the way. Mushk wouldn’t have been the same without her!

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2020

Ismail – Raaz e Ulfat

In the drama serial Raaz e Ulfat, where every character is shown to be at one extreme of the spectrum, Ismail Miyan seems to be the only character who is sane and wise. Although his niceness has been pushed to the limit as well he knows how to strike a perfect and healthy balance. This is another reason that his niceness is used to lure Mushk towards him because he genuinely has a kind and big heart, big enough to accommodate Mushk with all her flaws and shortcomings. Ismail is also aware of the fact that Mushk does not love him but he continues to be nice to her. Such nice and accommodating husbands are rarely seen in Pakistani dramas, therefore it definitely makes Ismail Miya one of the best characters seen this year.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Best on-screen characters of Pakistani dramas 2018 are all those characters which won the hearts of the viewers because they were either inspiring or easy to connect to. These characters were different, engaging as well as layered and meaningful. The way their journeys and transformations were translated on screen was also another reason why people enjoyed watching the shows they were a part of.

Here is the list of the best on-screen characters of Pakistani dramas in 2018.

Hajra (Aangan)

Hajra was the binding force of the family. She being the eldest daughter in law never really took advantage of her position. In fact, she always made sure to do the damage control as much as she could by keeping quiet or at times explaining things a bit more elaborately to subside any differences the rest of the family members might be having with each other. Hajra was wise and understanding. Yes, she did turn out to be unforgiving in regards to her son’s choices but other than that, she was the one who always took care of everyone in every situation. What made Hajra’s character even better was her human side where she didn’t hold back in sharing her frustrations too. The credit definitely goes to Irsa Ghazal for making Hajra’s character so strong and out-there with her perfect acting.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Sajjad (Aangan)

Sajjad was the best son, best husband, best brother and best father. He was the most loving person who was kind hearted, considerate, courteous and selfless when it came to his family members. Sajjad was the backbone of the family where everyone relied on him and no wonder why everyone shed tears on his death. Sajjad was a brilliantly written character and Noor ul Hassan performed it phenomenally.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Zaini (Dar Si Jati Hei Sila)

Zaini’s character in drama serial Dar Si Jati Hei Sila was progressive and inspiring. Zaini’s dialogues were written brilliantly and she always served as a reality check in a house where everyone was afraid to question. Zaini was brave as well as sensitive. The reasons why she was not like Sadia and Sila were also shown in a convincing manner. Through her character, the writer showed how important it was for fathers to be there for their daughters and what a huge difference their support can make. Zaini’s positive traits were a breath of fresh air and she balanced out the negativity of the other characters. Amna Malick’s performance definitely gave this character the edge it needed.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Nadia (Dar Si Jati Hei Sila)

Nadia’s character literally turned things around in drama serial Dar Si Jati Hei Sila. Everything from her entry in the story to her exit was extremely powerful. Nadia was blunt and intelligent, her character showed that no one can dictate a person unless they are willing to be dictated. The way Nadia gave Joi and Bari Aapa both a taste of their own medicine by having her own way was amusing and pleasing to watch. This character was the most entertaining part of a serial which was meant to be more upsetting than entertaining. Nadia’s dialogues most often voiced the views of the audience which is why the viewers found her character easy to connect to. Nadia’s honesty and her intelligence was her best traits. Kiran Haq nailed this character which is why viewers looked forward to Nadia’s scenes.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Sarang (Pukaar)

Sarang was the savior in Pukaar. Even though he was brought into Sultan house for some other purpose but Sarang never let anything or anyone for that matter sway him and cloud his judgment. Sarang was the sort of person who believed in forming his own opinions and always stood by what was right without even fearing what the consequences might be. All these traits made Sarang’s character very positive and strong which was performed brilliantly by Zahid Ahmed.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Abba Jee (Aangan)

Abba Jee was the life of the show as well as the family. What made his character super amazing was the fact that he had a forgiving nature and was very understanding. Abba Jee never believed in imposing his own thoughts and opinions on others but yes, always conveyed what he thought was just and right. It was always nice to see him rationalizing his wife’s perspective and approach every time she lost a bit of direction and let suspicion cloud her opinion. Abba Jee’s dialogues and one-liners were one of the best aspects of this drama and Sir Qavi Khan did complete justice to this character.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Laila (Aangan)

Laila was the strong, opinionated character who always believed in saying what she had on her mind but always maintained that level of politeness. Laila also showed that a woman does not need a child to complete her because she in just as complete as any other woman is. Laila was strong that is why she chose to live her life on her own terms even after her world turned upside down after the husband she loved the most betrayed her. Laila definitely took her time but did not let the betrayal break her. Iffat Omar was the star of the show and gave Laila’s character the treatment it well and truly deserved.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Mumtaz Begum (Suno Chanda)

Mumtaz Begum in Suno Chanda was the most graceful yet fun female head of family we saw in our dramas this year. Usually, men are shown playing such roles in dramas or the women who run the show are most often negative. Mumtaz Begum made her decisions independently and her relationship with all her sons and daughter-in-laws was extremely amusing. She was intelligent and for a change a woman her age was shown in a different role without going overboard. Samina Ahmed is a brilliant actress therefore the fact that she played this role added to the beauty of this character.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Shahana Batool (Suno Chanda)

Shahana’s character was the most amusing character in drama serial Suno Chanda. The dialogues and her situations were written in the best way possible and the way Nadia Afghan translated it on screen made it even better. Comedy is always more fun to watch when the situations are somewhat realistic and the characters are easy to connect to. Comedy always sounds better in Punjabi too especially when the actor playing the role speaks Punjabi with such fluency. Shahana’s character made the viewers laugh their heads off and never disappointed.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Tariq (Visaal)

Tariq showed that you don’t need to rely on wits or physical strength to be able to stand firm on what you think is right and support your stance too. Tariq proved that all one needs is mental strength, determination and a whole lot of honesty to do right by someone. Tariq was the one who was burdened with a lot of favors which in the end became like shackles for him but it was amazing to see such a vulnerable human being becoming a strong pillar of support for someone who was far more miserable than he was. Nazar ul Hassan played the character of Tariq beautifully and his body language and expressions perfectly depicted Tariq’s state of mind.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Sunny (Lashkara)

Sunny was such a character that only knew how to love and be in love despite all the odds. Sunny went through a lot emotionally and his world turned upside down when the love of his life got married to someone else. Sunny went from being a harmless guy to an obsessed admirer to someone who wanted to destroy all the happiness of the one he loved but when everything changed in his lady love’s life, he redeemed himself and did everything to make sure her suffering ends. Sunny redeemed himself when he went from being a villain to a hero who fixed every single problem in his lady love’s life. Sunny’s journey was like a rollercoaster ride where at first it looked like he will never be able to come out of his obsession but later he shown mental and emotional growth of such a level that he became the savior. Imran Ashraf was at his best in Lashkara and the ease and effortlessness with which he portrayed all the shades of Sunny’s personality and journey is commendable.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Aairah (Khudgarz)

Aairah was a strong-willed woman who only knew how to make things work and sort them out. Aairah’s job also demanded her to fix what was broken inside someone’s mind and heart and that is why she ended up becoming so emotionally attached to her husband because what she did for others was done by him for her. Aairah knew how to take a stand fof herself, she also knew how to voice her opinions too. Aairah’s character was beautifully written by Rida Bilal and performed exceptionally by Amina Sheikh.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Omar (Khudgarz)

Omar was someone who learnt from his mistakes and made sure to change the course of his life after life-changing bitter experience that he had. Omar only believed in being a good influence on others and live life selflessly because that made him peaceful and contented. The way Omar guided a lost soul like Hassan and dealt with immense patience even when Hassan tested it made Omar’s character memorable. It was a treat to see such a nice and humble character who only resonated positivity. Yasir Nawaz was a perfect choice for this character as he played it beautifully.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Junaid (Khudgarz)

A good son, a good brother, a good husband and a very kind-hearted human being, this is how Junaid’s character can be described. Junaid was burdened with the favors that were done for him by his uncle that is why he developed this forgiving nature where he let go and look past all the mistreatment that was directed at him. It was also nice to see Junaid evolving as a person and not letting his wife put up with irrational behavior. Junaid was someone who always believed in absorbing what was wrong but when it came to his wife, it was so good to see him standing by her to protect her. Syed Jibran always gives his 100% to all the characters that he plays and that is why Junaid’s character was no exception too.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Raheel (Khudgarz)

Raheel was a supporting character but he had a strong role to play in this drama. Raheel was introduced as someone who had a lot of love, respect and admiration for his colleague Abeer who he knew was a part of an abusive relationship. Raheel not only supported Abeer emotionally but stood by her through thick and thin and always protected her when he saw her past was being highlighted. It was nice to see such a supportive husband on screen who stood by his words and gave the sort of comfort and security to a vulnerable girl who had lost faith and confidence in herself. Salman Saeed played this character phenomenally and it was good to see him on-screen.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Akram (Visaal)

It won’t be wrong to say that Akram was the most unique character that we got to see this year in a Pakistani drama. Akram was a well-written, quirky and a very different character who believed in himself and was a very optimistic person but the only thing that went against him was his approach towards his motive which was wrong. Even though it was established right from the beginning of the drama that Akram was a con-man but as the viewers got to learn more about his character, they ended up having a soft corner for him as they wanted him to get exposed with things working out for him also. Even though Akram lied along the way, betrayed and fooled others too but he deemed it right because he was in love and he never once harmed anyone. Akram had leadership qualities in him as well and he was loyal to those who associated themselves with him. Akram’s character could not have been played better and the credit goes to Zahid Ahmed for a perfect portrayal.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Sajjad (Zun Mureed)

Sajjad’s character was not positive overall but it was definitely realistic and superbly etched-out. Sajjad’s character development and weaknesses are the main reason why he is in this list. His personality traits and his mindset accurately depicted the mentality of all such men who think they are superior to women solely because of their gender. Sajjad gradually realized his mistakes and decided to mend his ways for good. Through his character, the writer showed where men like him go wrong and why they had such a difficult time accepting their mistakes. The writer also showed what an important role the upbringing plays in determining what kind of a role a man will be playing in his family and the society in the future. Omair Rana translated this character impressively on screen.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Tabbasum (Zun Mureed)

Tabbasum was the main protagonist in drama serial Zun Mureed. Tabbasum was one of the most nuanced female leads we saw in dramas this year. Through this character the writer showed that a woman can compromise on anything but she should never compromise on her dignity. Tabbasum was a strong woman who had many vulnerabilities but no shortcomings. A practical, sensible and intelligent woman who tried her best to find a way out of a difficult situation, Tabbasum represented many women in our society who do everything they can to support their husbands but they don’t get due credit for it. This character was etched-out beautifully. Even though Nadia Khan’s performance was not up to the mark but Tabbasum never failed to impress.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Fari (Zun Mureed)

Fari was a sensible young woman who stood by her sister’s side right till the end and also made the viewers understand many aspects of Tabbasum’s character. Her conversations with Tabbasum were one of the best parts of the drama. Fari was focused, strong and hard working. She believed in relying on her own strengths and did not need a man to save her. A woman with a vision who managed to live her life meaningfully even with so much negativity around her – Fari was anything but a victim! Fatima Shah’s performance was pretty decent but her overdone make-up was distracting most of the times but that did not kill the beauty of this powerful character.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Safeena (Meri Gurya)

Safeena was one of the few positive female characters we saw in dramas this year. Her character was likeable as well as meaningful in many ways. Safeena was forced into a marriage but she tried to make it work after finding out that her husband was a complete misfit. A strong woman who liked fixing broken people and situations, Safeena’s character was inspiring throughout. She played a major role in figuring out that her husband was not just a misfit but he was actually a cold-blooded murderer. Safeena was always fair as well as sensitive which made her character more likable. She refused to be a victim and fought for what was right till the end. Sonya Hussyn did complete justice to this beautiful character.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Shehnaz (Meri Gurya)

Shehnaz from Meri Gurya was undoubtedly one of the best characters in Pakistani dramas this year. Shehnaz was a mother who fought a long and hard battle to get justice for her daughter as well as for so many other little girls. Shehnaz’s relationship with her daughters, her overall personality and the way her weak as well strong moments were shown made this character simply unforgettable. Sania Saeed always adds grace to such character which makes them even more appealing. Her natural acting was one of the many reasons why this character had an impact. Shehnaz’s fight for justice also gave an important message to the viewers.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Zaid (Woh Mera Dil Tha)

Zaid’s character was one of the most beautifully etched-out characters in Pakistani dramas this year. He was one such character who had so many flaws yet he never lost his appeal. The way his coming of age journey was covered made this character one which is impossible to forget. Deep down Zaid was always capable of being a wonderful human being but it took him time to discover that side of his personality. Sami Khan’s superlative performance throughout brought out the best in this character. Most people who watched this drama, tuned into it, because of Zaid.

Best On-Screen Characters of Pakistani Dramas 2018

Naina (Woh Mera Dil Tha)

Naina was another reason why viewers tuned into Woh Mera Dil Tha. She was a levelheaded and caring young woman who made the most out of the worst experiences of her life. A positive character who went through a major transformation as well as someone who learned from her mistakes, Naina’s character had a lot going for it. Naina’s circumstances for most part were terrible but she was never shown as a victim. A balanced and beautiful character which became even more pleasing to watch on screen because Madiha Imam played this role.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Pakistani drama writers understand that a drama needs a strong storyline and well etched-out characters in order to engage the viewers and leave a lasting impression. Nowadays many of writers bank on shortcuts to make their characters attractive therefore any character that fits the bill is highly appreciated. The bechari aurat is the easiest and most commonly used shortcut. Black and white characters are also considered an easy way to gain the sympathies of the viewers or to make them hate a character. What makes an on-screen character truly impressive is firstly when it is not clichéd, secondly, it is not one-dimensional and most importantly the viewers should be able to relate to the character. Whether the character is good, bad, or grey the motives and personality traits of the character should not confuse the viewers. If a character is unpredictable then that is great but logic comes before everything else.

If a character does something which is completely opposite to their main personality traits which define that character then the viewers lose interest and feel frustrated. There are some characters that pique the curiosity of the viewers which is always an additional attribute that makes these characters more interesting.

Out of all the plays that are currently on air here is the list of the characters who can easily be termed as the best because they have so much going for them:

[lwptoc]

Parizaad (Parizaad)

Hashim Nadeem has given us some of the most memorable male leads therefore it does not come as a surprise that his new male lead in a drama serial has already won the viewers over within 3 weeks! Parizaad is a young man whose outward appearance does not match his name. He has been shown as someone who has faced constant rejection and is a sensitive person who registered everything he ever went through. Even after going through so much, Parizaad always had a heart of gold. The situations this character has been through and his dialogues which represent his state of mind make this character one that is refreshing and touching at the same time. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s outstanding performance has definitely given this character the edge it needed to truly stand out.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Noor (Aakhir Kab Tak)

It is always refreshing watching strong female characters on screen. Noor is one such character from Aakhir Kab Tak who is fierce and intelligent. Even though she was raised in a household where she watched her mother suffering constantly, she refused to accept the norms set by her family. Her character has been etched out brilliantly because there isn’t a single situation where she uses her confidence in a way that would make the viewers question her. Her character has played a major role in bringing about much-needed changes in the way things work in the house. Ushna Shah’s brilliant performance makes this character even more likable.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Fajar (Aakhir Kab Tak)

Fajar’s character is completely different from Noor’s; she lacks confidence and depends entirely on her sister for support. Her character perfectly and aptly shows how constant disapproval and scorning affect a child’s personality. Even though Fajar lacks confidence and is socially awkward, she has always been shown as someone who is completely capable of critical thinking. The only reason she was targeted by her class fellow to be the next victim was her timid personality. The writer has through this character shown that a rape victim cannot just move on after finding a partner who loves them but they need help from professionals. Usually, such characters are one-dimensional but Fajar’s character isn’t so. Srha Asghar’s performance makes this character even more convincing.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Safia (Aakhir Kab Tak)

Safia is the weakest character in the drama serial Aakhir Kab Tak and perhaps also one which we have seen in dramas many times before. What makes her eligible for this list is the fact that the writer has used this character to send such a strong message to all the mothers out there about how not to raise their children! Although there are many dramas in which such helpless mothers are shown but Safia’s struggles truly resonate with the viewers because the impact they have had on her life and on her children’s life has been shown on screen so aptly.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Saim (Aakhir Kab Tak)

Aakhir Kab Tak is perhaps the only Pakistani drama right now which has such strong characters that so many of these characters made it to our list this time around. On the one hand, we have men from Noor and Fajar’s household who do not respect women at all and on the other hand, we have a man like Saim who does not just respect women but also goes out of his way to accommodate his wife. There are times when you get the too-good-to-be-true vibes from Saim but then his family background and upbringing make it easy to understand why he is so accommodating and kind. Haroon Rashid fits in this role perfectly.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Falak (Laapata)

Only two episodes of Laapata have aired so far but already Falak’s character stands out more than any other. Falak is an independent and confident young girl with a fun and sensitive side to her character. Falak is another strong female protagonist who had our immediate attention for obvious reasons. We rarely get to see such female characters in dramas especially from middle-class households. The fact that Sarah Khan is playing a character different from what she is usually seen doing also adds to the appeal of this character.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Saira (Dunk)

Dunk was criticized a lot because of its basic storyline but it has a few characters which balance out the negativity of the leading female protagonist. Saira has been shown as a strong woman who fought against all odds to give her daughter a good upbringing. Although her entire journey had our undivided attention, recently her appearance in the court was the best we have seen of her yet. Yasra Rizvi’s solid performance has made this character even more impactful.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Minal (Dunk)

Sometimes sane and balanced female characters can be a rarity especially because characters that are black and white are usually more popular among the masses. This is the reason why Minal’s simple yet appealing character from Dunk is a part of this list. Minal was the only person who believed in Haider and did not let her emotions get the best of her. She is a practical, caring, and intelligent woman who at times showed more concern for Haider than his own mother.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Basit (Azmaish)

Azmaish is one of the most popular drama serials right now which mostly has black and white characters. Basit is one such character who is on this list because apart from being a decent man with tons of self-respect, he is not one of those characters whose sole identity is their one-sided love for the heroine. Basit keeps the drama from getting monotonous and his character continuously surprises the viewers. Fahad Sheikh always excels at playing such characters therefore he was the perfect choice for playing this role.

Best On-Screen Characters From Current Pakistani Dramas

Alia (Pardes)

Pardes is an issue-based drama serial that covers the life and journeys of different generations. All through this journey, Alia’s character has been the most refreshing element of a drama which does not have a lot of grey characters. Alia always did whatever she could to make her mother realize that she was not being fair to her daughter-in-law and now when she has made a comeback her support for those who truly deserve it continues.

Best Movie Songs of 2016

0

The revival of Pakistani Cinema is perhaps the biggest achievement of Pakistani Showbiz in recent years. Looking back from late 80’s to early 2000 Pakistani Film Industry went into slump following the death of Waheed Murad in 1983. Mid 90’s regained some audience attention but till then it was Bollywood all over the place.

The release of Film Khuda Kay Liye in 2007 and BOL in 2011 ushered the wave for revival of this Industry. Then Films like Waar, NaMaloom Afraad, Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, Bin Roye and Wrong Number led the phrase “Revival of Pakistani Cinema”. Young Bloods certainly played a spirited role in rejuvenating our film industry. Though Audience are finally preferring Pakistani Films as it continue to infiltrate Cinema but still our film producers need to decipher Cinematography. There is still room available for upgrading and development.

Despite sheer amount of talent available, Pakistan Music Industry is now in complete disarray but it is wrong to state that no efforts are being made to revive Music Industry of Pakistan. The Revival of Pakistani Film Industry allowed our singers to contribute their skills to our own industry. In other words I am forecasting that Pakistan film Industry will give a helping hand to Pakistan Music Industry to clinch back again towards success and will force our audience to give priority to our own music.

Here I would like to introduce you to some best movie songs of 2016, hence the list as follows:

10. Dobara Phir Se Title Track by Hania Aslam and Ali Hamza (Dobara Phir Se): Typical Hania Aslam Style! This song might cheer you up and completely change your mood. So if you really want to listen to some different Genre of Music then Dobara Phir Se Title Track is a must go song. A perfect song if you are planning for a road trip. Dobara Phir se Movie is currently in Cinemas receiving mix reviews from audience.

9. Bachaana by Benny Dayal (Bachaana): Bachaana film received mix reviews from critics. One should agree that film camera work is absolutely different from typical Pakistani film. It grossed over RS10crore on box office collections. The movie do not offer many songs but its title song surely deserves to be in top ten list as it contains much groove and dynamism so that you can fall easily in affection with it. Great Music Composition and nicely sung by Benny Dayal.

8. Befikriyan by Aima Baig (Lahore se Aagey): It’s quite difficult for new entrant to mark his/her place when there is already so much talent available in music industry. With the ability to sing differently Aima Baig showcased her skills successfully when she finally got a chance to sing three tracks for film Lahore se Aagey. Befikriyan song is absolutely energetic and extremely well sung by Aima.

7. Tutya Tara by Adnan (Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai): Lead singer of Soch band and official shareholder of popular song “Awari” Adnan Dhool is also marking his spot in music industry. Due to Adnan’s brilliant vocals and perfect composition the song deserves a place in top ten list of best movie songs of 2016.

6. Chulbul by Bilal Saeed and Sana Zulfiqar (Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai): This song finally fulfilled audience demand for a cool party rap song. Lately there is a fondness among audience for party songs. This song is a sign of replacement for Bollywood party songs but I do agree that one song is not enough and we need to produce more songs like this. The film box office collection grossed over 100 million and is still on screen.

5. Qatra Qatra by Amanat Ali and Elizabeth Raji (Teri Meri Love Story): After Listening to this song all I can say that it is time to say Goodbye to Bollywood. The song is seriously music to your ears, the melody adapted in it plus soothing voice of Amanat Ali and Elizabeth mark it as the best romantic song of 2016. The film didn’t performed well on screen but its songs are worth listening.

4. Dil yeh Dancer hogaya by Atif Aslam (Actor in Law): Atif Aslam’s soul-stirring renditions always creates a magic for his fans. His blissful voice force you to fall in love with his songs. Dil Yeh Dancer Hogaya is a song with simple melody but each time you listen to it you will love it. Actor in Law Movie is currently the highest grossing film of 2016 at box office. If we keep making these types of films, we can give easily a blow-back to Bollywood Movies.

3. Kelabaaz by Aima Baig (Lahore say Aagey): Lahore say Aagey was the most anticipated movie of the year and considered as a sequence of film Karachi se Lahore. The song Kelabaaz Dil is also the hit song of 2016. Retaining a unique voice with Western tone Aima Baig finally told her critics that she is a real deal here. The song is absolutely perfect for parties and Weddings as well. The music and energy blend in this song will keep you burning this track and that’s why in my view it deserves to be on number 3 spot.

2. Janaan by Armaan Malik (Janaan): So relaxing indeed, this song gives peace to your mind. Incredibly sung by Armaan Malik, Janaan title song surely deserves to be in top 3 movie songs of 2016. The film was heavily promoted by its cast and producers and it also did financially well on Big Screen grossing over Rs300 million.

1. Lar Gaiyan by Zarish Hafeez and Shiraz Uppal (Dobara Phir Se): This is absolutely a perfect song to be played in Weddings. I am glad that Industry is building a Portfolio of Wedding Songs. Last year there were two Wedding songs “Ballay Ballay” from film Bin Roye and “Shakar Wandaan” from film Ho Mann Jahan. Our Weddings are mostly covered by Bollywood songs but hopefully we will see a change in future and audience our music on Weddings. This Song deserves number 1 spot in my List as it is perfectly tuned for soaring Nuptial fever.

The bread winner for singers is their vocals, our music industry is struggling because our singers aren’t getting any permanent platform to earn some handsome bucks. The rise of Film Industry can only be a perfect platform for our singers to earn decent amount of money and to exhibit their talent. Our nation is heavily indulge in Bollywood songs and we need to start giving priority to our own music ASAP.

So what are your favourite Movie songs of 2016? Feel free to add the list!

Best Movie Songs 2017

So pondering over Pakistani Showbiz we can proudly yell at the world that Pakistani Entertainment Industry is not only about dramas since we are blooming in Film Industry as well. Indeed there is still room available to decipher Cinematography but I am glad how young blood played a vital role in revitalizing the Pakistani Cinema. This year film “Punjab nahi Jaungi” grossed almost 500 Million which is a great achievement for Pakistani Cinema and Showbiz Industry.

However only one Industry that is struggling to recover from commercial loss is Music Industry. Though efforts are being made to revive it but still more efforts are required especially re introduction of band culture. Only Film Industry can provide a major helping hand to Music Industry to recover from its loss.

This year is also filled with some great movie songs, here is the list of my top ten:

10. Phool Khil Jayein (Rangreza): A folk song performed by Maestro Abida Parveen and Asrar Shah from upcoming Movie Rangreza. Rangreza will be releasing on 21st December 2017.

9. Sanwar De Khudaya (Arth 2 Destination): Arth 2 is another most anticipated film of Pakistan releasing on 21st December 2017. It is a remake of Mahesh Bhatt’s Arth released in 1982, although full music album has not been released yet but Sanwar De Khudaya by Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is worth listening. The full length of song is 7 minutes.

8. Balu Mahi (Balu Mahi): A perfect party song along with Wahab Shah’s awesome choreography. Balu Mahi film was not a commercial hit but songs are worth listening. Aima Baig and Asim Azhar both did justice to its official track.

7. Zinda (Verna): In my opinion Shoaib Mansoor this time failed to enthral the audience as the film grossed only 90 Million in total. Gossiping over movie songs then “Zinda” song is worth listening. With Adnan’s efforts Soch band is marking its spot in music industry.

6. Kaif O Suroor (Na Maloom Afraad 2): Aima baig is now a rising star of Pakistan’s Music Industry. An incredibly talented singer with so much dynamism in her voice. With the blend of Aima’s voice together with Arabian music genre, Kaif O Suroor is a pure magical song from second highest grossing movie Na Maloom Afraad 2. This song will completely uplift your mood and boost yourself. An amazing song to be played in parties and road trips.

5. Billo Hai (Parchi): A punjabi bhangra song from an upcoming film “Parchi” starring Hareem Farooq, Ahmed Ali, Usman Mukhtar, Ali Rehman and Shafqat Khan. The film is expected to release next year on 5th January 2018. This song had already received more than 1.5 million views on YouTube and is perfect for Weddings and Parties.

4. Tu kya jaane (Balu Mahi): Composed and written by Sir Sahir Ali Bagga “Tu Kya Janne” is a heart touching sad song. The song is full of emotions and might left you in tears. The blissful voice of Sir Sahir will force you to fall in love with his songs.

3. Ae Dil (Punjab nahi Jaungi): Not only film did well on Cinema but almost every song of this film is simply music to your ears. With amazing melody and brilliant vocals of Junita and Shiraz Uppal “Ae Dil” deserves to be on 3rd spot. The song is enormously mesmerizing and you will listen to it again and again.

2. Sambhal Sambhal (Verna): “Sambhal Sambhal” is a peaceful romantic song of year 2017 and is simply music to your ears. Haroon Shahid might not have performed well as an actor in this movie but he did absolute justice to this song together with Zeb. This song deserves 2nd spot in my list.

1. Tere naal (Punjab nahi jaungi): Shafqat’s soul stirring renditions always creates a magic for his fans. Tere naal is a song with simple melody but each time you listen to this song you will love it everytime. I am happy that industry is building a portfolio of Wedding songs so that we don’t need Bollywood songs to cover our weddings. This is seriously a perfect wedding song and deserves to be on Number 1 spot in my list.

So what are your favourite movie songs of 2017? Please feel free to add the list

Best Mothers-In-Law In Pakistani Dramas

The mothers-in-law in Pakistani dramas are usually the cause of all the troubles. They are most often shown as the most insecure and negative characters who make their bahus life a living hell. While Pakistani dramas are filled with the examples of the most villainous mothers-in-law, making a list about the best ones was no easy feat! Even though so many dramas air on Pakistani television every day, most of them revolve around marital life or relationship yet there have been very few examples of mothers-in-law which could be part of this list.

This basically just goes to show how mothers-in-law in our dramas are stereotyped. Usually the saas is the zalim one, the one who will do anything to break her son’s marriage. There is no denying the fact that a lot of women in reality too treat their daughters-in-law like that but why can’t our dramas just show some of the rare but good examples to normalize the good side of this relationship instead of the bad one?

Thankfully, there have been some mothers-in-law in some recent Pakistani dramas who must put the zalim ones to shame! They basically show what qualities a mother-in-law should have. Their relationships with their bahus also show how easy things are for everyone involved if the mother-in-law decides to be the mother.

Here is the list of some of the best mothers-in-law we have seen in Pakistani dramas lately. What makes their relationship special is that their bahus were equally good!

Rumi’s Mother-In-Law (Ishqiya)

Rumi has the coolest and the most likable mother-in-law we have seen in Pakistani dramas. Even though her character was shown in a completely different light in the first few episodes but once she realized that she couldn’t pressurize Hamza into marrying someone he did not like, her character took such a delightful turn. Although Rumi is not your typical bahu either, her saas handles her so well, always with love! Rumi’s mother-in-law is a working woman who minds her own business and makes sure her daughter-in-law feels loved. She has to be the most balanced mother-in-law since she is not the kind who is constantly giving advice but she has always been supportive in her own cool way!

Best Mothers-In-Law In Pakistani Dramas
When this character was introduced it seemed like she would turn out to be one of those mothers-in-law who continue plotting against the bahu they never wanted in their house. The character however turned out to be extremely refreshing. Rumi’s interactions with her are the best part of this drama. Seemi Pasha has done complete justice to her character, she looks smart and graceful, her performance is always superb.

Jiya’s Mother-In-Law (Suno Chanda)

Shandana’s character in Suno Chanda was people’s favorite for many reasons. In the first season, it was her comic timing and humor which made the viewers fall in love with her character. In the second season, she was liked even more because she turned out to be the most loving and supporting mother-in-law. Even though for the longest time she did not even want her son to get married to Jiya but once she made up her mind and the misunderstandings were cleared, she always stood by Jiya’s side. She was shown as a sensible and loving mother-in-law who always tried her best to guide her son in the right direction.

Best Mothers-In-Law In Pakistani Dramas

This was one of those characters which showed that mothers-in-law too can be mothers if they decide to love their bahus like they love their own daughter. Shandana was the kind of mother-in-law who never overlooked her son’s weaknesses and made sure that she gave her bahu the right advice. Nadia Afgan nailed this aspect of her character just like all the others.

Sanam’s Mother-In-Law (Dil Ruba)

Hania Aamir got some of the best mothers-in-law in the dramas she has worked in! Sanam’s mother-in-law is also her phupo and right from the time she got married, her mother-in-law has showered her with love. She is polite, loving, caring but at the same time quite straight forward. Even though her son died, she continues to support Sanam and is just as concerned about her now as she was before. Laila Wasti’s dialogue delivery and her demeanor go so well with the character she is playing in the drama. This is another character that has changed for good as the story progressed.

Best Mothers-In-Law In Pakistani Dramas

Sadia’s Mother-In-Law (Yaariyan)

Yaariyan had some of the most negative characters and tracks. In this drama which was filled with negativity, Sadia’s Mother-in-law’s character was like a breath of fresh air. An educated, businesswoman who was also a difficult battle with Cancer, Sadia’s mother-in-law did everything she could to do stabilize and improve the relationship between Sadia and Umair. Apart from that, she continued to be impartial and used the time she had to help those who needed her the most. The most endearing part of her character was that even though she was going through so much herself, she always put other people’s happiness before hers.

Best Mothers-In-Law In Pakistani Dramas

Hina Bayat is a phenomenal actress who made this character come alive on screen. Her dialogue delivery and the way she presented herself on screen made this strong character even more admirable.

Dua’s Mother-In-Law (Ehd-e-Wafa)

Ehd-e-Wafa was one of those dramas which broke many stereotypes therefore it doesn’t come as a surprise that it also gave us one of the most memorable mothers-in-law in Pakistani dramas. Saad’s mother who was Dua’s mother-in-law was one of the most progressive characters we have seen in recent dramas. Like all the other mothers-in-law in the list, she also had a life of her own, she was educated and aware enough to guide her son and even her daughter-in-law in the right direction. In a way, she started supporting her daughter-in-law even before she got married to Saad.

Best Mothers-In-Law In Pakistani Dramas

Dua wasn’t sure if her in-laws would approve of her mother living with her but it was her mother-in-law who made her and Saad realize that this was part of their duty.

All these mothers-in-law prove one thing that it is so important to show good role models in Pakistani dramas. Writers should break free from stereotypes and show a positive image of mothers-in-law. In this way, they would be showing the loving and caring side of women instead of relying on showing their negative and conniving side. There are so many women who watch these dramas, even if one of them decides to follow in the footsteps on these mothers-in-law the writers would have done their part in bringing about a change in the family system.

Feel free to add more names to the list.

Best Moments From Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Visit to Pakistan

1

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s historic visit to Pakistan was more than just a diplomatic one since late Princess Diana had special association with Pakistan, Prince William too feels the same way about the country. The royal couple also proved with their gestures that this country was ‘special’ to them. Kate Middleton and Prince William had a clear cut agenda and they made the most of their time in Pakistan by working on everything which was of importance to them. Prince William and Kate Middleton wanted to meet as many Pakistani men and women as possible therefore interacting with the locals, whether they were celebrities, children or teachers, was on top of their agenda. Climate change was another important aspect which they wanted to highlight in this visit and to do that they went to Chitral to observe the affects of climate change on the glaciers there. Education, especially girls’ education, was also top part of their agenda because of which the very first place they visited was a school. For Pakistan, this visit was crucial since it was a good opportunity to highlight the importance of Pakistan as a tourist heaven. Most importantly, this visit proved to the world that Pakistan was a ‘safe’ place to visit.

Ushna Shah (From Rani to Reena Begum)

Ushna Shah’s character in Alif Allah aur Insaan to date is the most memorable one she has played on screen. Her character went through a major transformation in the drama. Rani was a beggar with big dreams who ultimately got the chance she was looking for and ended up being one of the most sought-after film actresses. The role itself was grey throughout which made it even more interesting. When Ushna played the beggar, she looked like the role she was playing and when she was polished over the years, she looked entirely different. In fact, looking at these two pictures it is difficult to tell that both these pictures are of the same character and drama. Definitely, this is one of the best makeovers we have seen in Pakistani dramas.

Zahid Ahmed played a complex and unconventional role in drama serial Ishq Zahe Naseeb. This was the first time that Zahid stepped out of his comfort zone and played a role that had two distinct personalities. When Zahid was Sameer he looked like the businessman who was in control and when he was Sameera he had the kind of make-up on which convinced you that this person was definitely not Sameer! We have seen Pakistani actors wearing make-up for different roles in dramas but this particular makeover was definitely one-of-a-kind. People waited to meet Sameera for a few weeks and once she made an appearance everyone was really impressed, what a makeover!

Mahjabeen made even more effort to change her looks when she realized that Shanzay was back in Abdullah’s life. In an attempt to look stylish and trendy like Shanzay Mahjabeen gave herself a makeover no one would have expected from her a few weeks back. His makeover definitely went well with the character he played and the changes in his character.

When Ahad Raza Mir’s character was introduced in Yakeen Ka Safar, he was the young, carefree, and fun-loving boy. Best EID Dresses Worn By Pakistani Actresses Part 2

The mood of each and every celebrity this Eid ul Fitr was somber. A lot of Pakistani celebrities didn’t feel like celebrating the Eid due to the lives lost in the recent PIA crash of the flight PK8303 and due to the Coronavirus. It took them a couple of days to share the pictures that they clicked in the vicinity of their homes. Where a lot of celebrities chose to stay silent, there were a lot more who then became comfortable with the idea of sharing pictures and connecting with their fans, to show that it is alright to be resilient and it is perfectly fine to find an excuse to be happy when life in general is tougher. The spirit of all such celebrities was appreciated by their fans and followers and to see them looking absolutely beautiful wearing gorgeous outfits was nothing short of a treat.

Here are some more pictures of the beautiful dresses worn by Pakistani celebrities during Eid ul Fitr 2020:

Aubergine Gharara of Maya Ali

Maya Ali wowed everyone with her choice of clothes this Eid. First the taupe pishwas and now this regal looking Aubergine gharara was beautiful on her yet again designed by her best friend Faiza Saqlain. Once again, a solid colored dress with some design detailing on the gharara and dupatta showed how sometimes the simplest of looking dresses are enough to make a statement. This color looked gorgeous on Maya Ali and she kept her styling simple too with hair tied neatly in a high bun and kohled eyes doing all the talk. She wore dainty dangling silver earrings to compliment the silver embellishments on her dress. She looks as perfect as an ethnic doll.
